~Forbidden Chapter~Campaign
Tumblr media
Tamamo gives orders to three newcomers, Sueharu, Ibuki, and Akihito.
Tamamo: "I know this is sudden, but do you guys fit with everyone?"
Ibuki: "What? There is no reason to be friendly with them, right?"
Sueharu: "Pay me first, and I will follow your orders."
Akihito: "I'm busy right now, so ....next time."
Tamamo: *sighs* "It's an order! Go and get along with everyone!"
........................
Akihito x Shigehira
Shigehira: "Let me tell you first! I'm not going to fall for your tricks that easily!"
Akihito: "......It's only natural that no one would accept some stranger, that easily."
Shigehira: "Haa!?"
Akihito: "Don't worry. I'm used to being lonely."
Shigehira: "No. Ah, I mean.....It wouldn’t hurt to have a small talk, right?"
Akihito: "Really? Then let's go to my room.(As planned)"
........................
Ibuki x Morinaga
Morinaga: "Let's move our bodies together and get to know each other. How about a wrestling match?"
Ibuki: "Is that something humans do when they first meet?"
Morinaga: "Oh, if you don't want to, then that's alright. And here's a gift, it's a tiger print loincloth."
Ibuki: "......So, you haven't given up on that wrestling match yet, have you?"
Morinaga: "That's alright. We'll go horse riding instead. The first one to reach the cliff wins, and the one who stops, loses."
Ibuki: "You won't live long, my boy."
.......................
Kurama x Sueharu
Sueharu: "This is easy. Kurama and I are bffs."
Kurama: "Don't talk nonsense while plucking my feathers."
Sueharu: "I'm thinking of making hatchets out of this. The demand for it has been rising, lately."
Kurama: "And better make a good one, or I'll cut you."
Sueharu: "(Looks like I have no other choice.) Here, so first-class oranges. Now we are best friends forever."
Kurama: "I'll allow you to peel them for me."
Sueharu: "I'll charge you extra for that."
.......................
Yoshitsune x Akihito
Yoshitsune: "Why won't you let me call you 'your Majesty'?"
Akihito: "It's a bit too formal to hear that now, so please refrain."
Yoshitsune: "Your kimono looks warm and comfy. I envy you."
Akihito: "You think so? But sometimes it's troublesome because the hem keeps dragging along the floor and gets dirty."
Yoshitsune: "If you allow me, I would like to do something to that hem, as a sign of our friendship."
Akihito: "Let's not draw our swords out of pure goodwill, shall we?"
Yoshitsune: (Your sleeves also seem to be getting in the way, too.)
..........................
Ibuki x Benkei
Ibuki: "How is Kurama doing?"
Benkei: "This morning he went on a rampage and smashed through the wall of my room."
Ibuki: "Oh yeah? Looks like he hasn't changed at all since he was a kid. Good luck, new guardian."
Benkei: "I'm not sure as to why he's like this. Maybe it's a result of poor parenting."
Ibuki: "I only thought him, how to drink and fight, remember?"
Benkei: "No wonder. You both are nasty."
.....................
Sueharu x Kagetoki
Sueharu: "These spare pair of glasses?"
Kagetoki: "I'll buy it."
Sueharu: "A book from the Sung dynasty?"
Kagetoki: "I'll buy it."
Sueharu: "Evidence of your vassal's wrongdoing."
Kagetoki: "I'll buy it."
Sueharu: "Minamoto no Yoritomo?"
Kagetoki: "I'll buy my lord's talent."
Sueharu: 'Musashibo Benkei?"
Kagetoki: "I'll sell our quarrel at a high price."
Sueharu: "It's going to be difficult to get along with you."
Kagetoki: "I’ll even buy your soul if you sell it to Shogunate."
.....................
Akihito x Yoritomo
Akihito: "Oh, look, a beautiful flower. It looks like the life of a warrior fragilely scattered on the battlefield."
Yoritomo: "The song of the birds is also beautiful. It's like the twittering of a nobleman who is amused by gossip."
Akihito: "Oh, Yoritomo. Your hands are dirty. Oh, sorry, is that an indelible mark of blood?"
Yoritomo: "Your Majesty is the one with the blackness around his belly, isn't it?"
Akihito: "It's fun."
Yoritomo: "Very much."
......................
Ibuki x Yoichi
Yoichi: "I've been thinking about Tamamo too, but doesn't having your hair down get in the way when you're eating soup or something?"
Ibuki: "If a demon leader has his hair down, it's somehow lacking in gratitude."
Yoichi: "It diminishes the sense of dignity and villainy."
Ibuki: "Worst of all, I can float in the air with lightning's otherworldly power in my hair.
Yoichi: "...That's a strange look for you, isn't it? But thanks anyway.”
....................
Yasuchika x Sueharu
Yasuchika: "Black merchant" sounds cool, right! It's like, "My one eye is tingling with darkness..."
Sueharu: "...Yasuchika-dono, you are the one who said, 'I command you in my name, annihilate the evildoers. Don't you say?"
Yasuchika: "The outrageous sin whispered to the fallen hero... (It's awful. I'm going to tell Yoshitsune-sama.)"
Sueharu: "What?"
......................
Tamamo: "So.....How was it? Did you get along with everyone?"
Sueharu: "Perfectly. (Now, I only need to get close to that fox woman.)"
Ibuki: "It was scary. (I would rather play with that fox woman.)"
Akihito: "Friendship is beautiful. (But I am more curious about that fox woman.)
Tamamo: "All of you, change your mind."

I made some La Squadra headcanons... hope you enjoy :^)
Risotto Nero
Age: 28
Ethnicity: Sicilian/Egyptian (born in Sicily)
Sexuality: Gay (more closeted/probably doesn't realise)
General headcanons:
- He has Autism, fidgets with smaller objects he keeps in his pockets like pens or keys to help calm him down. When fidgeting with a pen on his desk he can take it apart and put it back together again.
- Social interaction? How do you do that? (Is mostly more talkative around the people he's close to, aka his team. Though usually performs better when it's only atleast 3 or less of them in the same room with him).
- Him and Formaggio are the closest in the group. BFF's! They'd go out and try and find some cats in the alley ways. Ghiaccio is his second closest next to Melone
- He likes animals, alot. Will protect or rescue one if he sees them around or on a mission
- The father figure for La Squadra, and if he sees one of his members in distress he'll do anything he can to help calm them down/soothe them.
- Doesn't get drunk. Period. I think we know why.
- Enjoys the sun, is able to stand in it longer than Illuso or Ghiaccio due to him more able to tan than get sunburnt.
- When he isn't showing off his torso, he prefers warm snuggly jumpers or hoodies. Makes him feel safe and has the same affect as receiving a hug for him.
- Has a few plushies, small bean filled cats and probably a moderately huggable sized bear. Holds it at night while he sleeps
- He'd eat spicy stuff without a blink of an eye. His mama used to make him alot of Mediterranean/Eastern foods like Indian and Egyptian. So he has a hefty tolerance to spice
- Will bite into a lemon. With 0 hesitation. And just eat it as if it were a regular not acidy fruit.
- Doesn't cry much, but when he does he's an ugly crier. Snot and tears running down that man's face, probably clenches his fist or punches something to. Depends on the situation of course.
- Enjoys the bitter taste of Dark chocolate, will eat a whole block of the kitchen made stuff with ease.
- Can lift everyone but Pesci and Illuso as if they were as light as a feather. Pesci and Illuso are a tad more heavier.
- His linguistic skills outside of Sicilian and mainland Italian suck. He's got horrendous English compared to the rest of the group. Relies on Ghiaccio to translate whatever they are saying.
Ghiaccio
Age: 20
Ethnicity: Venezian
Sexuality: Gay/Ace
General headcanons:
- Has ADHD. No doubt.
- Sees Risotto as a father figure, looks up to him for guidance and listens to him the most.
- Got his curly blue hair from his stand awakening! It was a slow process. Risotto checks on it every so often because the more blue and curly it gets, the more powerful his stand becomes.
- Other than Risotto, the closest member in his squad is Melone! They get along the best in the group. They have similar intellect and both like to learn about eachothers passions! (Without it getting sexual of course)
- His insults? No rapper could ever compare to the zany things this gremlin comes up with! He'll slaughter you with his words and his stand!
- Can speak multiple languages! The best at English other than Melone, Formaggio and Pesci in the group! Hates it when people pronounce things wrong (wow, that was obvious) and also hates slang. It gets on his gears when Formaggio uses it.
- Loves cats! They calm him down! He doesn't want to hurt the little critters! Unfortunetly too shy to go out and actively find them, but will promptly beat the ever loving fuck out of you if you hurt a cat in his vision.
- Doesn't let anyone but Melone, Pesci and Risotto touch his curls. You will be frozen if you aren't them.
- Enjoys crunching on Ice cubes, the sound is satisfying and he finds the taste nice.
- Hates asparagus and avoids it like the plague, same with Coriander. It tastes like soap! Ew!
- Has warm showers to balance out his stand that makes him colder than the average person. Won't turn it up too high otherwise he burns.
- Burns easy in the sun, wears alot of sunscreen.
- The lightest member of La Squadra after Melone! Will scream if you pick him up.
- He has muscular thighs and has a light 4 pack! Skating does alot for you!
Melone
Age: 26
Ethnicity: Naples
Sexuality: Pansexual
General headcanons:
- Has sleep paralysis.
- Got a degree in human genetics & Biology!
- Is a maternal figure to his Juniors and would definetly be capable of caring for a baby.
- Will drape himself over Risotto, the man doesn't care how. As long as he isn't doing any weird shit. And Melone will gladly go with those terms.
- Calls Risotto "Rizzy babe/baby" and it drives Ghiaccio and Prosciutto into the wall. Be professional damnit Mel!
- Him and Prosciutto are fairly close, they get along well with only a few minor differences in views. He and Illuso have a stronger bond however.
- Isn't as sexually driven as he seems. Tells Ghiaccio alot of 'apparently' devious things he's done but in all honesty? He isn't that bad. The only thing that's relatively "disgusting" is him being into legs and feet. Other than that? He just knows too much and puts on a persona to see how creeped out other people get.
- Knows everyone's star signs, blood types, DNA and allergies! Puts all the information down on BabyFace.
- BabyFace is basically his own personal laptop, he can play games and hack into servers when he pleases!
- Created most of La Squadra's furniture... with BabyFace. Risotto, Ghiaccio and Illuso are the only three that know that he created it with BabyFace. Ris and Mel are the only ones who knows what people are what furniture. Melone occasionally says hi to them when the others aren't around.
- Melone also has a weird amount of knowledge on dogs. He'll tell you almost everything about a breeds behaviours and traits, to even what is best to give them from toys to food!
- Likes eating Formaggios bags of chips when he isn't looking. He just finds those fatty crispy potatoes in a bag so utterly irresistible!
Prosciutto
Age: 35
Ethnicity: Milan
Sexuality: Bisexual
General headcanons;
- Trans! F-M
- Him and his mother look very similar to eachother. Even more when he was pre transition!
- Smokes cigars.
- Takes like 20 minutes doing up his hair.
- Buys fine wine, won't take the cheap shit.
- He spends daddy's money. But the team doesn't have to know that.
- Enjoys sitting in the sun with a nice glass of wine with olives, hates it when he's disturbed.
- Has some toxic masculinity, doesn't want to look 'weak' infront of the team, or at all.
- Nutures Pesci, the two are very very close. Not brothers, but close. You will not enjoy the wrath of Prosciutto if Pesci is hurt.
- Does the face rubbing with everyone. Wants to make sure everyone can succeed at their task!
- Him and Illuso are, close? They tease eachother in a friendly way, love finding ways to make the other flustered or embarresed. It's a very fun game to them.
- Is probably the 2nd best at using a gun. No one can top the sniper that is Gelato however. But he is learning from him.
- Do not. Mess with his suits. The minute he finds out someone has wrinkled or spilled his suits you will be turned into an old hag. Most of the team knows this. But there's still the oddballs who don't learn...
- Reacts like a normal person to unusual bizarre situations. Who put this inflatable pool into the base? GET IT OUT! STOP SWIMMING IN IT!
- Doesn't like cats, they get hair all over his clothes and vomits up cat treats on his bed. But Illuso and Melone can tell that he himself acts somewhat similar to a cat. Just exclude the puking.
Pesci
Age: 20
Ethnicity: Sardegna
Sexuality: Straight
General Headcanons;
- Him, Gelato and Sorbet? Good friends. BFF's even.
- Is shy, doesn't do well in social situations. But you can tell alot more easier than you could with Risotto
- Enjoys fishing in the coastal waters. Will occasionally go out with Formaggio and Illuso to fish with them.
- The others have tried to show him new drinks, but he'll always stick to milk. It's what his momma gave him when he was younger, a habit he has yet to break.
- His momma was very over protective, unfortunetly causing him to be very anxious and paranoid about many things. It's a surprise he even managed to join the Mafia.
- Likes dogs! Him and Mel can talk about dogs for hours! Even visit some at shelters. Only wishing they could adopt only to remember they're professions..
- Does pedicures with Sorbet and Gelato every weekend. He makes sure to keep his nails in good condition for them! And they do the same! Sometimes they do makeovers with eachother, he likes looking fabulous on the next mission!
- Likes kids but is terrified to go up to them. But whenever it's him and Risotto, he has a little more confidence. The two wouldn't mind ever giving the homeless children some food or a piggy back ride.
- Is allergic to walnuts. He found that out from a pie Melone made him. Thankfully he came out okay thanks to BabyFace.
- He does indeed hide behind the couch whenever they watch a horror movie. Thankfully Risotto is there with him whenever they do watch them, the man apparently doesn't really enjoy them either. He isn't scared, but he just prefers other genres.
- Is only good at some English due to all the tourists! He felt like he had to learn some so he'd be able to talk to them or help them out with directions.
Illuso
Age: 26
Ethnicity: Spainish
Sexuality: Bisexual
General Headcanons;
- Pillow princess!
- Don't disturb him when he's in the tub, just don't.
- He can sing! He's very loud! But usually sings when no one Is home. Prosciutto and Melone are the only two that have heard his singing voice.
- Teases members of the team constantly, he's just alot meaner with Formaggio.
- Made his outfit! Formaggio and Sorbet absolutely hate it! But he doesn't care about the haters
- He has full control of his pigtails, no one knows how he is able to make them magically float. But that makes it even more fun! They usually start to squirm when he's excited, flustered or scared.
- Is always in his mirrors. Likes the quiet inside, but sometimes he'll get lonely and pop out or ask some of the others to join him inside.
- He's relatively good at cooking, mainly Spanish cuisine. But is learning with Melone how to make baked goods!
- Him and Mel watch TV together, they love making fun of the characters and getting deeply invested into the plot. They binge alot.
- Isn't a snacker, he will only eat snacks if he's watching TV or if he's in the tub. Those are usually grapes.
- He doesn't hate Formaggio. They are quite close! Just thinks some of the things he does and says are absolutely stupid.
- Knows almost everything history wise with his teammates. But still can't find much on Risotto.. one day he will... one day... only knows some of his info from Melones BabyFace. But that's not enough!
- Invades his teammates privacy, he'll pop through the mirrors in they're rooms. No he doesn't care (atleast most of the time)
Formaggio
Age: 27
Ethnicity: Boston
Sexuality: Bicurious
General Headcanons;
- He has a pet name for everyone, most of them don't mind. Gelato and Ghiaccio absolutely hate theirs however.
- Of course as we know in canon, he's the brother of the group. Tries to cheer them up after a particularly glum mission, or if they are just having a bad day.
- Loves cats. Ain't good at taking care of them. Risotto gets annoyed whenever he leaves cats in containers.
- He snacks, alot. Like alot alot. Thankfully he exercises with Sorbet so he maintains his frame.
- Loves pissing off Illuso with the way he eats Spanish food. A disgrace for eating Doritos with Guacamole! But man it's fun to see his face go red! And it tastes good.
- Has the strangest ideas for how to defeat targets. Goes into Risotto's office constantly and babbles on about ideas. Most of the time they are surprisingly accepted. And they work!
- Happily drinks cheap booze, it disgusts Prosciutto. But he doesn't care. Unfortunetly gets drunk after 5 bottles. Doesn't drink infront of Risotto though (atleast not on purpose).
- He loves the beach! Hot babes (and bros?) walking around, it's a paradise for this cheese man! Has to be taken away from the beach by force when they have to go home though.
- Usually wears very loose clothing. He gets too hot easy! Gotta wear something he can breathe in.
- Likes orange chocolate, some of the others judge him for it. But him and Sorbet can snack on that stuff for hours.
- Likes listening to the game on the radio in Ghiaccios car since Illuso and Melone take up the tv too often.
- Is from Boston, so of course he knows English. Sometimes swears in it, but he mainly speaks in Italian now. Knows some Sicilian thanks to Risotto!

Frosty fever
This is a guardians Frozen Fever AU requested by @ineedtorename with Jack as Elsa, Human!Tooth (So still half hummingbird but she has slightly more human features and long, multicoloured hair behind kinda a crown of feathers, because I want her to be) as Anna because I heavily ship rainbow snowcone and need Jack to be organising his BFF and secret crush’s Bday party, and North, Bunny and Sandy as the boys in no particular order. Obviously, it takes place in the tooth palace and the village below it rather than Arendelle, and it’s not going to be song dialogue because Rise of the Guardians isn’t a musical. Going under a cut for length, which I just learned how to do :) P.S, Rainbow and Snowcone are now their nicknames for each other because I am devious.
“Okay, it’s almost time!” Jack exclaimed in a mixture of excitement and nervousness. He’d been feeling a bit off all morning – runny nose, bit of a headache etc. – but he’d just passed it off as the beginnings of hayfever season. He was the spirit of winter – he didn’t get colds, and there was nothing else it could be.
“North, Bunny, how’s the banner going?”
“Is all good, Jack, don’t worry.” North replied as he hung huge sheets of paper with colourful letters painted on them on a rope strung between two of the tooth palace’s golden pillars. The mini fairies all flitted around making sure it was secure,  dotting bird-of-paradise flowers around along with any others  that matched tooth’s feathers, and hanging colourful bunches of balloons.
“Yeah, we got this, mate, don’t worry.” Bunny added, crouched down to paint the remaining three letters.
Sandy was over by the cake, sneakily picking off some of the sugar-free sweets they’d used as decoration.
Jack sniffed and rubbed his nose. “I’m not worried! I’m not worried…”
Sandy looked sceptically at him.
“I’m not! Really!”
“You’ve already checked food layout three times.” North pointed out. “I’d say you were worried.”
‘Either that, or you’ve got a cold.’
“I don’t get colds, Sandy, I’m fine. And stop dismantling the cake, you can have a slice later!”
The sandman rolled his eyes and floated up to put some sparkly sand on the banner. That, and the combination of blue, turquoise and green paints Bunny had used, now made it look like Tooth’s feathers.
“Perfect!” Jack gasped. “Imma go wake Tooth up, just try and handle everything until we arrive.”
“Relax, Jack, we got this.” North affirmed and Bunny and Sandy nodded.
***
Jack chuckled to himself as he crept into Tooth’s room and picked a cushion up from her window seat.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOOTH!!!” he yelled, throwing the cushion directly at the now wakeful tooth fairy’s face.
“Oof…morning, snowcone…couldn’t think of a gentler way to wake me up, could you?”
Jack tossed a colourful dress at her. “Get changed and meet me outside in ten minutes.”
He then hurried outside, leaving Tooth to flop back down on her bed and inwardly complain about being woken up at 7:30 in the morning on her birthday.
***
“Tada! How do I look?”
“Wow…I-I mean, yeah, you look great!” Great job, idiot. Real smooth.
Tooth had just come out wearing her new dress, and Jack’s ears were already burning scarlet, his equivalent to blushing furiously.
Tooth’s dress was…well, beautiful. It was an off the shoulder knee-length one with a slight petticoat under the skirt, making it puff out ever so slightly. It was a gradient of light turquoise at the top to dark bluish green at the hem of the skirt, which had a pattern of gold teeth shapes embroidered onto it. There was a gold ribbon around the waist which tied into a floppy bow at the back, and the sleeves were made up of another gold ribbon which rested just below Tooth’s shoulders. All in all, she looked even more dazzling than usual, which Jack admittingly didn’t think was possible.
“Right! Bunny helped me hide a bunch of presents, and now we’re going to find them!” Jack explained excitedly.
“How?”
Jack held up the end of a red string that Tooth now saw led all the way through her palace and down to the village below it.
“Just follow the string!” he answered, right before letting out a rather large sneeze.
“Jack, do you have a cold?” Tooth asked concernedly. Jack sniffed and shook his head.
“Psshh, I don’t get colds, probably just pollen or something. Shall we?”
Before Tooth had time to object, he was already pulling her away on her presents trail. They didn’t notice the tiny snowgy who swiftly ran towards where the others were finishing the party.
Now I’m assuming if you’ve read this, you’ve watched Frozen Fever, so you’ll know what happens next. Jack leads Tooth on a complicated trail of presents, insisting that he’s fine as his cold gets progressively worse, while the growing army of snowgies try to get to the cake, Tooth starts to get very worried and they eventually end up at the clock tower.
“C-Come on, now we cliiimb!” Jack slurred, stumbling as he pointed to the clock tower with one hand and pulled Tooth along by her free arm with the other.
“Jack, that’s enough, you’re sick! We have to go home!” Tooth struggled to hold all her numerous presents and a half-eaten sandwich as Jack ploughed onwards, looking like he was halfway to falling over. His hair was sticking up even more than normal, his nose resembled a tomato, his eyes were puffy and hazy and his hand in Tooth’s didn’t feel nearly as cold as normal. It was blatantly obvious he shouldn’t be taking another step, let alone climbing a clock tower, but Tooth had learned by now that nothing could distract him from what he was doing when he was this stubbornly set on it.
“No, we have to get to out birthday chills, I mean thrills!”
By now they were halfway up the tower, Jack let go of Tooth’s hand to go further up than her.
“Follow the string to the end, you are my very best friend!”
“Jack?!”
“What? I’m fiiiine…”
They went out onto the top of the tower, and Tooth could see the most beautiful sunset ever as the star sunk behind a mountain in the distance, casting the sky into pink, orange and gold. This isn’t nearly as beautiful as you, though. Jack had planned to say.
Speaking of the winter spirit, he was tottering dangerously close to the edge of the platform.
Tooth dropped all of her presents with a gasp and shot over, wings buzzing furiously, to push Jack back onto the tower. Jack sniffled and sat with his head hung as Tooth sank to the ground next to him and wrapped her arms around him.
“Now, will you admit it?”
“Okay…” Jack sighed congestedly. “I have a cold…ugh.”
“You’re warm too…come on, back to the palace.”
Jack picked up his staff and waved the Wind over to help direct him and Tooth back to the Tooth Palace.
***
“I’m sorry, rainbow. I just wanted to make your birthday perfect…but I ruined it.” Jack groaned as they landed around the corner from where Bunny, North and Sandy were, unknown by him and Tooth, desperately trying to protect the cake and the banner from the snowgies.
“Jack, you haven’t ruined anything. C’mon, let’s get you to bed.”
They turned the corner to see the other three guardians standing atop a mountain of snowgies, holding the cake above their heads and with the banner behind them.
“SURPRISE!!!”
“Wow!” Tooth gasped.
Jack just stood there, wondering how on earth he missed about a hundred tiny snowmen being created from his sneezes. At least the mini fairies would have some new friends.
ALSO, if any artists who are bored see this and fancy doing me a favour, would anyone like to draw some art for this that i can post?

Forever Stuck With You
Tumblr media
co written with my bff @verryberriess hope you all enjoy! (ps the prompts were “have you lost your fucking mind” and “I could kiss you right now”)
masterlist // ao3
Rowan Whitehorn couldn’t help but smile as he watched his beautiful wife spin in circles, arms flailing, as she let the sea breeze cool her flushed cheeks. Red-faced, Aelin might have had one too many fruity cocktails from their dinner at the small diner, hidden within Whalers Village. Rowan had wanted to end their Hawaiian honeymoon watching the stars from the beautiful, white-sanded Lahaina beach behind the restaurant, but Aelin just couldn’t seem to sit still.
Throughout the duration of their dinner, he watched Aelin slowly lose control over her speech and movement. Her words slurred together, eyes becoming heavy-lidded, yet she still seemed so alive. Her voice became louder, movements more dramatic, it was a miracle she hadn’t broken anything. Rowan knew he was starting to feel the effects of the alcohol as well when he couldn’t stop smiling at the utter perfection that was his wife. He lost all sense of time as he watched her smile back at him. He truly admired her so much. She was a ball of energy, his Fireheart. There was nothing else he needed in this life, but her.
Rowan currently carried a checkered, red and white picnic blanket underneath his arm, along with a fluffy throw blanket he had stolen from their hotel suite. After walking up and down the stretch of the whole beach, Aelin seemed to have finally sobered up. Her gait had steadied and she appeared even-tempered in her movements, no longer stumbling across the loose, powdery sand.
Content, Rowan set down the picnic blanket and called out to Aelin, “Would my lovely wife care to join me in watching the stars this evening?”
As Rowan made himself comfortable, he glanced in Aelin’s direction. She slowly made her way towards him and settled next to him, her golden blue eyes less clouded as she pressed a feather-light kiss to his cheek before cuddling into his side. Aelin beamed, “I would love nothing more.”
The couple sat together for a few moments enjoying the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks. They listened to the rhythm of the tides rolling in and out towards the shores, the subtle chirping of field crickets hidden somewhere in the grassy field behind them, and enjoyed the night sky that loomed above them. The contrast between the dark blue, and purple hues compared to the glowing, radiant stars supplemented Aelin’s and Rowan’s awe of the scenery. But of course, Aelin couldn’t sit for long. Soon she was up and dragging Rowan along with her to where the sand met the sea. Holding hands, they walked further into the water. Shallow enough to walk through easily, but deep enough so the waves hit them just below their knees.
They stood in the water, and Aelin wrapped her arms around Rowan’s torso. In response, Rowan pulled her close and breathed in her lemon verbena scent as he held her against him. He could live in this moment forever. Standing in the most beautiful place on earth with the love of his life in his arms, Rowan could not wish for a more perfect memory.
His thoughts, however, were soon interrupted as Aelin suddenly ripped herself from his grasp and began sprinting full force into the middle of the ocean. Maybe she was not as sober as he had thought.
He watched as his Fireheart became an absolute menace in the water. Her splashing, coupled with the oncoming waves, led to a completely drenched Aelin stuck in the clothing she had not bothered to take off. “Come out here Buzzard, the water is perfect,” she called, not seeming to mind her current situation.
Rowan laughed at the utter ridiculousness of his wife. Only she would run into the ocean, fully clothed, in the middle of the night. “Have you lost your fucking mind Fireheart,” he laughed softly. “What if a shark eats you?”
“I’d like to see a shark try to take me down,” Aelin countered confidently.
Rowan rolled his eyes but swam out to his wife anyways. While the water had only reached up to his torso, Aelin floated. Aelin wrapped her legs around his waist and secured her arms on his neck. “I could kiss you right now,”  she whispered against his ear.
“Why don’t you then?” he asked, raising a brow.
“Because then I couldn’t do this.” Before Rowan could react, Aelin had jumped on top of him. She tackled him into the water and quickly leaped off. When he resurfaced, wiping the salt water from his eyes, Rowan witnessed Aelin clutching her sides, barely able to breathe from laughing at his short demise.
Rowan narrowed his eyes and glared at her jokingly, “You’re gonna regret that.” He ran his fingers through his wet hair and tried to appear threatening. He could only imagine how he must have appeared. He had his hands at his hips trying to replicate an imposing stance, but he probably more or less resembled a wet dog. He wouldn’t allow Aelin the satisfaction of his discomfort, despite his inward cringe at the fact that his soaked clothes now stuck to his skin.
“Oh yea,” Aelin teased. “Come and get me.”
Aelin used the momentum of an incoming wave to push her back towards the shore. By the time Rowan made it back to the picnic blanket, Aelin was already eagerly awaiting his arrival. Rowan stood transfixed. She had taken off her wet dress and laid against the blanket only in her undergarments. Her damp hair spread out beneath her and left trails of water around the blanket. Aelin had fixed her arm to hold her head under her palm, lying on her side in order to show off the black and gold, lacy lingerie she had recently purchased. It was a floral lace garter bodysuit, black with gold-accented flowers along the plunging neckline, emphasizing her curves and revealing cleavage. The piece had caught her eye after she remembered Rowan’s deep appreciation for her shimmering golden nightgown. By the look on Rowan’s face, Aelin could tell this was an even greater success than the first.
She made a mental note to thank the kind shop lady for suggesting her a waterproof fabric.
“Do you worst,” she winked as he approached.
Rowan couldn’t stop running his eyes over Aelin. The moonlight illuminated the outlines of her face so perfectly, adding to her already vibrant glow. The dim lighting highlighted her prominent collar bones, he couldn’t help but imagine himself leaning in and burying her with kisses upon kisses from her jaw down to her shoulders. Rowan would be lying if he said he wasn’t tempted to take her right there on the beach, but his need for revenge outweighed his roaring desire. That didn’t mean he couldn’t have a little of his own fun though.
He slowly stalked towards Aelin, watching her closely to note her any change in facial expression. He took his time, intentionally stalling his steps before he reached her. And when he did so, he slowly crawled on top of her form, putting into practice what he had so vividly imagined earlier. He first started at her jaw, slowly descending his trail of kisses towards her neck to the slight of her shoulders. His wet hair left behind their own path against her skin, marking his every action he took upon.
Rowan glanced at Aelin, taking in her current state. Her eyes were closed and she breathed deeply. Although she lay sprawled across the blanket leaning into Rowan’s touch, it wasn’t enough. Not even close. He needed to taste her, needed to hear her. Roughly capturing her lips and moving his hand from her neck to cup her face, he kissed her slowly. He allowed his other hand to roam free and reach for something hidden in the sand next to them. Once he took hold of what he needed, he quickly maneuvered their bodies. Like a dance, Rowan flipped them around, airborne for milliseconds to quickly wrap the sherpa throw around their frames. It wasn’t long before they were tangled with each other. They were as close as physically possible with Aelin’s body now resting atop of Rowan’s, his arms encircled her waist while the throw expertly encased them. There was absolutely nothing separating them now.
Aelin’s cheek squished against Rowan’s chest. She peered up at him within their human burrito,  “Ok, you got me,” Aelin sighed, defeated. She would have raised her hands in surrender, but they were glued to her side. “Can you unroll us now?”
“Are you sure you don’t want to stay like this? I must admit, I quite enjoy it,” Rowan said pressing a kiss to her forehead.
“Yes I’m sure, you’re squishing my face you oaf. Plus I’m already stuck with you forever we don’t have to make it literal,” Aelin joked.
Rowan laughed, as he unwrapped one of his arms around Aelin and pushed out of the throw blanket that encased them. He unrolled Aelin and helped her sit up, extending a hand to her, “Payback’s a bitch.”
“Mhm whatever,” Aelin mumbled. She crawled into Rowan’s lap and rested her head on him. “I’ll be sure to get you tomorrow.”
Rowan chuckled softly to himself as he ran his fingers through Aelin’s hair, massaging her scalp. She leaned into his touch before slowly drifting off to sleep. Once her breathing evened out, Rowan laid down as well, gently pulling Aelin to his side and assembling the fleece blanket to unfold on top of them. Soon, he too was lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. The couple slept all through the night, wrapped in each other’s arms beneath the glimmering blanket of stars - the perfect end to a perfect honeymoon.

Oh my~ two song drabbles in the morning? What an early treat! If you’re still doing them, how about „You’ll be in my Heart“ from Phil Collins? A fluff classic and perfect for a cute little story~! Take all the time you need though!
I’m so glad to hear it! And omg yesss. I wrote this kind of quickly and hope it’s okay! It’s... long :’D I got carried away.
The ghost read in his chair. It was a new book he had nabbed from his latest victim. Not the kind of material he usually read but it was fine to pass the time. He had a lot of time in the afterlife. And yet, the past year had been one of the longest he had to endure.
Frustratingly, everything was fine. The forest was safe. The fire spirits didn’t come around too often. The queen was staying in her manor. The subconites sluffed off more than they worked. It was dang near perfect. But there was an absence. One that left him feeling sluggish and unmotivated most days. It took a couple months to admit, but with a heaviness in his chest unbecoming a weightless spirit, he missed the kid.
She just… left. Brushed him away with a broom. He supposed he understood. She had a home to get back to, but… no. He was certain any hopes he had that she would want to… well… stay was just his own selfish desires.
Grimacing he remembered the unsigned documents he had offered to try to get her to stay. They were still filed away by their BFF contract. He let out a sigh, trying to let go. It was what she wanted. It didn’t do him any good to linger in what was lost and gone.
It was just so easy for ghosts to do.
After turning a few pages, a splash came from the shallow pool around his tree. He didn’t look up. It was probably one of his minions and he wanted to finish reading a sentence while footsteps tapped into the opening of his tree.
A pause. Silence.
Snatcher finished his page before realizing maybe something was wrong. Tearing his golden gaze from the page, his usual smile dropped with his jaw. Hesitant blue eyes stared back at him.
“Kid?” His voice was strained. She nodded, her lips in a tight line as she clutched the corner of her cape in her hands.
“Hi,” she whispered tightly, looking down and shuffling on her feet.
He snapped his book shut and she jumped at the sound. Feeling a little guilty for startling her, but too caught up in his own pounding pulse to adequately respond he gripped the armrest with one of his talons.
Could she be back because—No! He inwardly scowled at himself, stopping the thought in its tracks. She did not come back because she missed him. Right? He had to act cool, calm, collected. Conceal. Don’t feel. All that ice queen jazz.
Leaning back, he summoned a smirk as he folded his talons together.
“Lose more of your hourglasses? Or did you want to try your hand at more contracts?”
Keeping her gaze low, she kept fiddling with her cape.
“A-actually.” She cleared her throat. “I was hoping to—landmyshiphere.” She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for a cold laugh or angry retort.
“You what,” he questioned, bewildered.
“Land my ship,” she said a little slower. “I… I was thinking… there was a lot I still wanted to do on this planet. A-and Subcon seemed as good a place as any…”
“What about your home?” Snatcher tilted his head, suddenly fretting over her planet’s well-being. He swallowed his feelings, shaking his head slightly. He hated that he cared so much.
“Hmm?” She paused before sighing. “It’s just—I went back and they—well—” she trailed off, slumping.
“You aren’t in trouble, are you?” He growled, ready to tear into the fool who could have caused her crestfallen features.
“No,” she said quickly. “I guess… I just felt… like they barely cared when I got back.” Her small fingers tightened around her cape, wrinkling it. “They just kept giving me more missions and I… I just felt… bad… all the time.” Her brows furrowed as she seemed to struggle with what she wanted to say. “They probably haven’t even noticed I left.”
“So, your plan was just to camp out in a haunted forest on a distant planet?” Snatcher raised an eyebrow with his golden mouth in a tight line, barely highlighting his fangs. “Why not Mafia town? They at least have markets and food. Nothing can really grow here.” Not anything edible at least.
“Well,” she offered with a nervous smile, “my BFF is here.” A moment passed and her small smile fell. “Snatcher?”
His talons were pressed tightly together as he kept his features frozen. Inwardly, he was short-circuiting. Did that mean what he thought it meant? She wanted to stay with him? It was almost too much to hope for; his heart ached as he tried to stifle the rising elation. He thought about the unsigned document. The one he had drafted meticulously and never had the chance to properly give her a chance to read through it. But… now…
“Park your ship here?” He cleared his throat and straightened, feigning a nonchalant air as he snapped his talons and summoned the document. “Well, let’s see, that’s a big favor to ask.” She squirmed a little and he cleared his throat again, trying to dispel his nerves. “If you want to park here, that’s just like saying the forest is as good as your home and I can’t just let anyone live here. So, tell you what, if you sign this paper and agree to everything it entails, I’ll let you live here and come and go as you please.”
The paper flew over to her and into her hands and a feathered pen appeared nearby. Immediately, her head snapped up with wide eyes.
“A-adoption papers?”
“I mean if you dislike it—" he fumbled, dreading the slightly panicked look in her eyes. But before he could finish his sentence, she grabbed the pen and signed at the dotted line. He blinked, almost in a daze as he waved a pointed talon and stamped his seal on the document. The document floated back to him and his chest swelled as he scanned it.
“That seals the deal, Kiddo. The forest is yours to roam freely—”
Sniffling caused him to pause.
“Kid?” He snapped his fingers, filing the adoption papers safely away before flying over to her as she wiped fruitlessly at her eyes.
“S-so I can c-call you dad, now?” She choked out with shaking shoulders.
“Yeah,” Snatcher said, rather ineloquently for a lawyer ghost who was also once a prince. She cried harder and Snatcher held out his arms, hesitating. Finally, he tentatively scooped her up and she looked up at him with wide, watery eyes.
“You’re safe now,” Snatcher promised, brushing her light brown bangs from her eyes. She blinked up at him and sniffled. His heart leapt to his throat as he thought of a song his mother always used to sing. It had been so long… and he wasn’t sure it would soothe the kid like he hoped… but if she wanted him to be her dad as much as he wanted her to be his daughter… he could try.
“Come, stop your crying,” he lowered his voice into a gentle cadence, brushing one of her tears away with a soft talon. “It will be alright. Just take my hand,” he held out his talon and she grabbed onto it, hugging it against her small stature. He couldn’t keep his smile out of his tone. “Hold it tight.
“I will protect you,” he continued softly, floating back to settle down in his chair, “From all around you. I will be here. Don’t you cry.”
She closed her eyes, leaning her head against his mane as she hugged his hand. Her tears began to dry.
“For one so small, you seem so strong,” he continued as she drifted. Leaning back, he closed his eyes, focusing on the words. “My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm. This bond between us, can’t be broken.” His voice wavered a little as he held the last note, either from lack of practice or from the lump in his throat. “I will be here. Don’t you cry.”
He shifted, trying to get into a more comfortable position. Her head readjusted on his shoulder. Her small fingers linked with his, their palms clasped together.
“’Cause you’ll be in my heart,” he sang, tapping his toes lightly in time to the cadence. Wait—He glanced down, mildly surprised he had shifted without thinking. His human hand was wrapped tightly with hers, and she leaned against the puffy, purple sleeve on his shoulder. His laced boots stretched up past his knees and she perched comfortably in his lap.
“Yes,” he continued, his voice soft as he examined himself for a moment before sighing and, instead, focusing on hugging his daughter close, “you’ll be in my heart. From this day on, Now and forever more.”
“I love you, Dad,” she whispered, keeping her eyes closed as a contented smile bloomed across her features.
“And I love you, Kiddo,” he whispered back, leaning down and pressing his forehead against hers. He sang a little longer, waiting until her breathing stilled and sleep and sweet dreams lulled her senses. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and muttered, “You’ll be here in my heart, always.”

Okay, I’ve been meaning to put this here for a while now but kept putting it off. But now I decided “enough procrastinating”, especially since I have another story coming for Vin. So.. I hope you enjoy! - warning, it’s a long story!
(///////////////)
Change, a Post-AHiT Story
Vin was sitting in the corner of Hat Kid's bedroom, his tail occasionally bumping against the pillows. He was reading a rather disturbing book, and laughed to himself. This was the best idea he's ever come up with. Death Wish. Since she wanted him to be her "best friend forever" so badly, he'd just give her extremely unfair and deadly challenges for the rest of her life.
Forever.
He soon heard small footsteps heading up to him, and he looked over. Of course, it was none other than Hat Kid, with that smile, albeit surprised, on her face. There was always something about that smile when she looked at him that he couldn't pinpoint, but he pushed it away every time. Instead, he grinned evilly, and asked, "Ready to die?"
The girl bit her lip, raising an eyebrow. "What?"
She was confused right now. For one, she was surprised to see Snatcher on her ship. For two, the question had thrown her for a loop. Vin frowned. He forgot to tell her. "Ya know, kiddo. I figured as BFFs you'd want something fun to do. So I came up with these challenges. Hence, my question. Ready to have some fun?"
The little alien girl's eyes brightened up, and she immediately nodded. Kids were always suckers for fun, alien or not. Excellent. He cleared his throat, and brought out from his fluff a map of earth, and on every single area was a challenge to do. He gave it to her. "Have fun!" and die. Hehehe.
Hat Kid looked over the map, and frowned. These challenges didn't seem fun at all. She looked up at Vin, tilting her hatted head. "These challenges seem.. hard.."
"Never stopped you before, now off you go!" he took a claw and pushed her down the ramp. She slid down it, unwittingly pressing one of the stamps on the map, and a portal opened up and took her away.
Finally, some peace. And from his book, he'd watch. Maybe he'd get to pull her soul from her dead body some time. ========= A quick hour and some disparaging and mocking comments from Vin later, Hat Kid returned, sweating. Some parts of her were covered in ash and others were burnt. But she wasn't dead.
She panted as she sat by the door, having completed all of the sets in the first challenge. Vin hid his anger, and floated over to her, grinning. "You look awful, kiddo."
She looked up at him tiredly before she looked down. She wasn't smiling. But of course she wouldn't. She just had gone through a metaphorical hell and back. But.. what was this feeling?
He crossed his arms, huffing. "A simple hello would do. What? did the lava burn your tongue too?"
Hat Kid shook her head, still not looking at him. She should have expected this. The pain had died away, only to have another pain sneak in. She felt that her cheeks were wet.
The demon frowned, and reached for her chin to lift it up, being surprisingly careful so he wouldn't slice her neck. She barely fought this, and that's when he saw tears in her eyes and dripping down her face, and she still refused to look at him. Vin's eyes widened, the feeling spreading just a little more. He let go and backed off, holding his own chin as conflict bubbled up inside him.
Hat Kid finally looked up at him, using her burnt sleeve to wipe off her tears, and Snatcher growled softly, turning away from her. "Go clean yourself up, kiddo.. and get some rest too. Your reward for completing the challenge will be ready in the morning.." There wasn't any emotion in his tone, his arms crossed.
The girl bit her lip and got up, approaching him with concern. She tugged on his midtail a bit, and he immediately whirled around and snapped at her, "GO!"
She whined loudly, startled, and rushed out of her bedroom and to the laundry room. Vin's eyes widened once more, before his brow furrowed with.. regret? he sighed, and returned to his spot in the corner, leaning back against the wall and clutching at his face.
Why was he feeling this way? ======= That night, Vin had decided to give her her reward earlier than tomorrow. He.. felt she deserved it, for some reason other than completing the challenge. And when he saw her face light up.. well.. that feeling he felt spread some more. Snatcher bit his lip with all the thank yous he received from her, and returned it with a "Whatever, kiddo.." ======== The kid had been completing harsh tasks left and right for weeks, all without dying like he wanted her to do. And the more she did, the less disparaging and mocking he became for some reason.
One day, she came home partly covered in feathers and nicks from the mad crows, tired too, and he looked up from the disturbing book he was now halfheartedly reading. She greeted him with a wave, "Hey, Snatcher.."
"Hey, kiddo.." he replied, looking just a tinge concerned.
She stared at the demon with those big blue eyes of hers, noticing that he looked different. He had more defined eyebrows now.
Vin furrowed his brow, growing impatient with her staring, and snappishly retorted, "What is it?"
Hat Kid flinched, but gestured to her own eyebrows. "You.. have actual eyebrows.."
That caused one of his white eyebrows to rise. "Eh? I swear if you're joking, kid…" he couldn't complete the threat. Just sighed as she rushed up to him, pulling out a mirror.
Vin stopped her moments before she crashed into him, not wanting feathers in his fur, and she practically shoved the mirror into his face. He growled a little, tail lashing slightly, and pushed the mirror back and grabbed it so he could properly see.
And.. the kid was right. He had thick, fuzzy and white eyebrows. ...was he really that old?
"Snatcher?" she called, waving a hand in front of his face. Apparently he'd been thinking and staring for a long while, and he snapped out of it.
"Oh.. uh.. don't worry about it, kid.." he gave her back the mirror, and rubbed these eyebrows. "I'll shave them off."
Her big blue eyes stared at them, before she shook her head. This was a sign of something.. she didn't know what, but this was a sign. The purple demon's eyebrow rose, and he quietly asked her, "You don't want me to?"
"Nope! I think they suit you just fine!" Hat Kid smiled, closing her eyes this time.
That feeling was back again, his eyes wide. He clenched his claw, and it shook for a moment. He couldn't seem to work himself up to get angry. Or make this feeling go away. But for some reason, he felt like the feeling belonged. Was it.. something he perhaps missed?
He took a breath and gently patted the crown of her head. "Thanks.."
She was thoroughly surprised, her eyes snapping open and widening. It was her turn to stare now. He bit his lip, withdrawing his claw, and shook his head. "Now.. why don't you go clean yourself up and-?"
He was greeted with and interrupted by a brief hug, and then she sprinted out of the room. In a state of shock, he couldn't be mad about it. He simply just plucked the feathers off and vanished them away, and sighed, leaning against the wall with an expression of utter bewilderment.
The demon pulled up his own copy of the map he gave Hat Kid, and stared at it with a frown. These challenges… were so unfair…
But he couldn't bring himself to quit. Part of him was invested in this idea. That and the girl hadn't died once. Though if she did, that'd be it for her. He was.. admittedly curious.
But, one thing he knew for sure, many more rewards were in store than what he'd initially had… ======= Effective immediately, he thought of rewards-a-plenty to give her, and it included toys, new machines for her ship, and many more outfits for her to wear.
Days later, he was currently sewing more of said outfits, when Hat Kid entered the room, absolutely soaking wet. He promptly hid the unfinished clothes and patterning, and looked at her with a little smile. "Hey, kid."
She smiled up at him, like usual, and squeezed her sleeves to try and get the water out. Vin did one better and dried her off with his magic, having snapped his fingers. She instantly felt better, and her smile grew, though it was surprised. "Thanks, Snatcher.."
"No problem, kiddo," he brought out a book, a different one from the disturbing tome he was reading in the beginning, and started to read.
"Hey.." Hat Kid began, walking up to him with her hands behind her back, "you seem different nowadays. A lot different."
"However so..?" he asked softly, a white eyebrow raised as he glanced at her.
"You're softer now.." she replied, and her smile returned. Hat Kid reached out to pat his fluff, but he shrank back, a glare sneaking onto his face. She backed off, biting her lip. Apparently not soft enough.
He realized the face he was making, and huffed. With that snarl he always had in his voice returning, he warned, "Don't touch me."
She nodded, and let out a slight sigh, walking down the ramp. She looked back at him for a moment. He's changing. I know it… and I want him to. Please stop fighting it, Snatcher.
The demon bit his lip, feeling bad for his behavior, but before he could reach out and apologize, she had left the room. Conflict was strong within his heart, and long ago he thought it vanished. Sighing, he brought out the unfinished clothes, and resumed working on them.  ============ Another week of challenges, and during that Vin had more been gently encouraging her with such a soft voice Hat Kid'd never actually heard. Last week didn't come close to this.
She entered the bedroom with Pons sticking to her, and dumped them all in the box nearby. And then she looked up towards where her BFF usually was and found an interesting sight. He was a lighter color, the ends of his claws, fluff and tail had a deep seafoam green splotched on them, and freckles, white as snow, had appeared on his cheeks.
The demon ghost was sleeping at the moment, curled up atop the mountain of pillows. She grinned. Whatever this change was, she really liked it. Hat Kid hopped into the pillow pile and swam through up to him, poking her head out.
It didn't take much to wake him up, and he opened one glowing eye and stretched much like a cat. He blinked at her, watching her bob up and down in the pile, and chuckled. "Back already, huh, kiddo?"
There was that softness again. She nodded. "Yeah. The last challenge was easy to do!"
"Good job, kid," he smiled, a rare genuine and kind one, and it only made her beam.
"Why, thank you!" she giggled. And then she reached out to poke his freckled cheek. He let her this time, though he raised an eyebrow.
"Freckles…" she muttered, tracing them.
There went the other eyebrow. "What."
"You have freckles now."
Vin blinked, and then he remembered back when he was alive. He had freckles back then. He.. wasn't sure what to think of this.
The demon was soon caught more off guard by a hug. "I know you said not to touch you, but you look like you really need it right now.." she explained, nuzzling his fluff.
Vin blinked, before he smiled and eventually hugged back. He'd allow it. Cod, he forgot what hugs felt like… were they always this warm?
The kid soon pulled away, and noticed the thoughtful expression mixed in with his smile. "Snatcher?"
"Please…" he began softly, "call me Vin."
"Is that your real name?" her big blue eyes got even bigger.
Vin nodded, grinning. Before he thought some more, a claw upon his chin. "Actually, I'm not.. quite that sure.. but it seems close enough." He laughed quietly.
Hat Kid smiled. "Okay, Vin."
...that felt nice. He reached into hammerspace and pulled out a present, and handed it to her. The child gasped, holding it close. "For being such a good kid," he explained.
She bounded out of the pillow pile with the gift and opened it. It was a new pair of clothes! punk rock too. She liked it better than the mask on the Cat Crimes outfit. Hat Kid squealed out a thank you and rushed out of the room. "RUMBI! LOOK WHAT VIN GOT ME!"
Vin's smile got even wider as he settled in for sleep again. That felt really nice. ========== Hat Kid had fought through every single boss she'd encountered on her journey, having saved them for last. From Mafia Boss to Mustache Girl. Only one remained now.
She found herself back at Subcon, in the wide open area where she fought the toilet of doom, and looked around.
From the middle emerged a giant Vin, now sporting a cowlick among his other changes.
"Hey, kiddo!" he called, and she turned to face him.
While it wasn't the first time she saw him that tall and big, it was the first time in a while. And she was so happy to see him. "VIN!"
She bounced on her heels and smiled. Vin chuckled, scratching the back of his head, "Aww, shucks, kid… glad you're happy to see me."
Unfortunately, this was supposed to be a boss fight. Fortunately, he'd made this whole thing, so he could change it however he pleased. Except, apparently, make them easier from the start.
But it didn't matter now. She breezed through every challenge, including every bonus. And he was so proud of her.
"Well, kid, I suggest you give yourself a big, glorious round of applause, because this is your last challenge. You've completed them all and I'm so proud of you!" the demon ghost smiled at her growing smile. "Now.. instead of fighting me like you fought all the others, I'd like to train you how to fight aerially."
That was one thing he never saw from her - attacking from the air. And he wondered why. Hat Kid got a bit confused, raising an eyebrow. But then she steadily worked it out in her head. She nodded.
"Excellent!" he vanished from the center, and reappeared at his regular six foot height beside her but several feet away with an umbrella of his own. "Get ready, kiddo!"
She pulled out her blue umbrella, despite having a bat now. With a smirk, she got into a fighting stance.
"First, jump, and then swing your umbrella in the air!" he instructed.
Hat Kid hummed a bit, before she tried it. She jumped and attempted to swing her umbrella, but it was a bit hard. She managed a small radius.
"Good for your first try!" he leaned on his umbrella. "But I know you can do better, kid."
The alien girl nodded, and jumped up again, and swung her umbrella. This had a greater radius than the previous one. "I'm doing it!"
The demon smiled. "Now attempt to attack multiple times in the air."
"Multiple times?!" she gaped, before she looked determined and jumped up again, swinging her weapon this way and that way. Now that Hat Kid had gotten the hang of swinging it once, she seemed to be able to do it twice too.
"Okay, good. Twice is good for now. As you practice on your own, you'll find that you'll unlock more times to attack."
Hat Kid nodded.
"Now let's see how you'll do with some pressure!" he picked up his umbrella and charged at her.
The girl wasn't expecting this, and dodged with a yelp. Vin stopped, and looked back at her. "C'mon, kid, fight me. It's for you to learn."
"I don't want to fight you, Vin.." Hat Kid shook her head, bowing it too. Not again.
The demon pursed his lips. "Aw.. hey, it's okay, kid.. I understand." He pawed at his fluff, wondering what he could do. And then he thought of it, and snapped his fingers. A bunch of sleepy raccoons, ten of them, popped up. "But I bet you'll be wanting to fight these guys."
They steadily floated to her, snoozing giant bubbles. Hat Kid scrunched up her face, and nodded. "It's on!"
She summoned her umbrella again, and jumped up high to the first one. She stomped it, causing it to pop, and swung her weapon at another, twice. It popped. Using a homing attack, she destroyed another one, and hit another with her umbrella.
Vin watched the bloodless carnage, a smile on his freckled face. She'd grown up so fast. It was amazing how she picked up on this as quickly as she did.
Soon, Hat Kid was done, landing on her feet, and she was tired, panting. Vin let his umbrella vanish, and approached her, scooping her up. She smiled up at him.
"I'm sure you'll find great use of what I just taught you in the future," Vin smiled back.
"Hey.. Vin..?" she began.
"Yeah, kiddo?"
"Thanks.." she hugged him again. "You're very nice."
A small pang of guilt hit him. He wasn't always nice to her. And he wondered what happened to spark such a change. It would take him looking back on this day to realize that Hat Kid brought out his humanity, and that that was what it was called.
But for now, he chuckled softly, nuzzling her. "No problem, kiddo. No problem at all."
And then they vanished, back to the treehome. Days later, Hat Kid bid him and everyone a farewell, but to Vin especially she promised to write him.
And so she did, and they were best friends and penpals ever since.
The End (////////////////////)
Aaaaaa, man, this was a doozy. I had to use the laptop version to post this bad boy. But at least I finally did it. I hope you enjoyed! I’ll see about uploading all of these stories to Fanfiction soon. (Also, yes, Hat Kid does seem a little OOC in the earlier scenes, but frankly, Vin was terrifying to her when she did tasks for him, a little worse than the actual game in fact, and yes, in the end Vin had yet to regain the part of his humanity that didn’t like putting animals in harm’s way. So yeah.)

A Royal Problem Chap.5 Fun After A Long Day
Hello! How's everyone's day? Here is the next chapter for you all! Just a cute wholesome chapter! Next chapter might not be for a while as it will be my first time writing about a character I never wrote before. So be patient!
Enjoy!!
After comforting the royal kids after the incident, Hat Kid now sorted out all the shards of the Time Pieces hoping they could all fit together. Once laying out all the pieces they started to glow and a few of them started to latch on to the other shards. Hat Kid smiled seeing the shards re-attach each other, and once they did attach themselves to the Time Piece.
However, a few of the shards didn’t attach meaning Hat Kid, Snatcher and Vanessa had to go back to Subcon to find the shards. Though, now wasn’t the time with what just happened back there. Hat Kid still wondered who that ghost was and what he wanted with Snatcher and Vanessa? Giving a sigh she put the rest of the Time Piece shards back into the small bag Snatcher carried with him earlier.
The door to Hat Kid’s room opened and Hat Kid turned to see C.C leaving giving a small smile. “How are they?” Hat Kid asked. While she went to fix the Time Piece, C.C decided to check up on the kids. They cried for over an hour and once C.C stepped in she was able to bandage up Vanessa’s leg, and give the kids some hot chocolate.
C.C sighed. “They're finally calm, still shaken up, but they should be fine.” C.C explained. Hat Kid sighed knowing they weren’t fully traumatized. She’d felt bad if Snatcher got traumatized again.
Hat Kid sighed “That’s good.” She replied as she put the broken Time Piece and the shards aside so she can rest her head and think of what to do now. C.C frowned and went over to the hat wearing child and put a paw to her back.
“Somethin’ wrong Sugar?” C.C asked. Hat Kid turned to C.C and explained what happened over at Subcon.
As she was finishing up finding the shards she could find, she saw Moonjumper float towards Snatcher’s place. She decided to follow the ghost and was horrified to see Moonjumper was harming Snatcher and Vanessa. Luckily she had her Time Stop hat with her to save the kids.
C.C sighed taking all of this in. “I see.” C.C replied. “And this was someone you never met in Subcon?”
Hat Kid nodded. “I don’t know who he was?” Hat Kid replied. “All I know is he wants them.” Hat Kid frowned and turned away from the cat. “I should have never brought them to Subcon.” She lamented.
C.C put her arm around the kid, and pulled her close. “Oh sugar, it's not your fault.” She reassured her. “You didn’t know there were more horrifying creatures in that forest. I’m sure your BFF could handle them.”
“If only you knew.” Hat Kid thought to herself. Knowing her BFF was horrified at the thing, and Snatcher is usually not afraid of anything.
C.C frowned at seeing Hat Kid feel so guilty and was thinking of something Hat Kid could do to cheer up her “siblings”. “Maybe instead of worrying about it, maybe just spend some time with your brother and sister for a bit.” She suggested. “At least outside of Subcon.”
Hat Kid thought about it for a second. She didn’t want to hold off the Time Piece, and wasn’t sure how long Snatcher and Vanessa wanted to stay as kids. Plus, with Moonjumper on the loose he could find some of the shards himself and it made this harder for the three of them. Though, with how small the shards were and if Hat Kid could keep the Time Piece a secret Moonjumper wouldn’t know anything about it and just ignore it.
She hoped so.
Hat Kid smiled and thought that if Snatcher and Vanessa were going to be kids here for a while, they definitely needed some new clothes since their prince and princess outfits got ripped, muddy and scuffed up back in Subcon. “Well, there is one thing I’ve been meaning to do since the kids got here.” C.C loosened her hug towards the young girl. “I’ve been meaning to get them some clean clothes and pajamas from the Metro.”
C.C’s eyes widened hearing where Hat Kid was going to go. “The Metro? As in the Metro, the one where Empress tried to kill you?” C.C asked.
Hat Kid nodded. “I know the Empress is mean, but there are a few cats in the Metro who are nice to me.” She explained.
C.C sighed. “Look I know you made some friends, but the Metro is dangerous since you know what happened and all.” She started. Hat Kid shrugged and nodded knowing what had happened, “but could I at least come with you, just to be safe?” She asked.
“Alright.” Hat Kid replied. C.C smiled and held Hat Kid’s hand ready to teleport to the Metro. “Rumbi!” The rumba that was passing by stopped to a halt. “Keep an eye on the kids for me!” Rumbi beeped showing a heart and thumbs up, making the young girl giggle. With that Hat Kid and C.C teleported to the Metro.
In Hat Kid’s room, Snatcher and Vanessa were sitting at the opposite side of Hat Kid’s bed, their backs away from each other as they slowly drank their hot chocolate. The two were quiet and thinking of the same thing: Moonjumper and what he wanted with them.
Snatcher glanced at Vanessa, who was quiet and staring at her cocoa. The former ghost sighed and put his drink down before sitting next to Vanessa. The princess didn’t notice him come close to her, and Snatcher wasn’t sure if she would want him to put her arm around her.
The former ghost shook his head realizing he was thinking of putting his arm around Vanessa. He’d done it in the past when Vanessa was having a low day, or even on good relaxing days, but doing it now felt weird. Snatcher had to think this through, either he just sat there and waited for Vanessa to notice him to have a conversation, or he needed to be the one to start the conversation and comfort her.
“Peck.” He thought to himself, as he realized what he had to do. Slowly, he put his arm around Vanessa and pulled her close to him.
Vanessa snapped out of her thoughts and turned to see Snatcher pulled her close to him. Snatcher was blushing, and glaring at himself for even doing this. “Pr-Luke?” Vanessa asked.
Snatcher’s eyes widened when he heard Vanessa call him by his old name then Prince. “Look, I know what you're thinking, and no it's not meant to be romantic.” He explained. “We’re both in shock with what happened, and frightened. But you look like you need comfort so there.”
Vanessa blinked at Snatcher’s explanation and gave a small smile. “Thanks.” She replied, closing her eyes and finishing her drink.
“No...problem.” Snatcher trailed off before giving a small smile back to the princess. It went silent again, but this time it was more calming then sad. Snatcher’s eyes went down to her leg, he forgot she got injured during the chase, and was now wrapped in bandages then the sleeve of his prince uniform. “How’s your leg?”
Vanessa looked down at her leg and swinged it a bit. “Still hurts, but not too bad.” She replied.
“That’s good.” He replied.
“But thanks for helping me back there.”
“Hey, we may not be together, but I’m not having that ghost take over Subcon on my watch!” Snatcher shouted standing up.
“Well, I’m still queen so you mean our watch?” Vanessa corrected. The two glared at each other competitively, before laughing together. From the hot chocolate and Snatcher’s enthusiasm made them cheer up.
After finishing up their hot chocolate Vanessa lied down on Hat Kid’s bed sighing with a smile, before it quickly faded to a frown. “Now what’s wrong?” Snatcher asked.
“I’m bored.” She sighed.
Snatcher looked around the room hoping to find Hat Kid’s art supplies or even games they could play, but couldn’t find anything. Soon he turned behind him and smirked. “I know what we can do.” He said.
“Really? What?” Vanessa asked, turning to Snatcher.
Snatcher smirked, “This!” He shouted and threw a pillow from Hat Kid’s pillow pile at Vanessa’s face. Snatcher laughed as the pillow slid off Vanessa’s face.
“What was that for?!” Vanessa asked.
“Kiddo has played it before!” Snatcher laughed. Vanessa glared and ended up throwing the pillow back at Snatcher. Snatcher felt the pillow hit him, and he soon grabbed another pillow and threw it at Vanessa who caught it this time and threw it back at Snatcher.
Snatcher dodged the pillow and threw another one at Vanessa who missed it before getting hit with another pillow. Knowing that a pillow fight was happening, Vanessa and Snatcher kept throwing pillows at each other, laughing, missing and getting hit with the pillows in the process.
A bit later, Hat Kid and C.C came back from the Metro, safe and sound. “Thanks for coming with me C.C! The kids are going to love it!” Hat Kid beamed.
C.C chuckled. “Aww shucks. I’ll do anything for you, Sugar.” C.C replied. The two heard the kids laughing in Hat Kid’s room and smiled. “I see their feeling better.”
Hat Kid giggled. “Yeah. I’ll go check up on them.” Hat Kid said going to her room.
C.C nodded, “I’ll go and cook dinner.” She replied heading towards the kitchen.
When Hat Kid got to her room she froze in place not because of the pillow that zipped passed her, but at the feathers surrounding the room. The royal kids were still enjoying their pillow fight not caring about the mess they were making.
Rumbi made his way into his owner’s bed room and froze at the feathers surrounding the room. “Yep, this is the last time I’m leaving them alone on the ship.” She told her rumba.  Soon, a pillow came flying towards Hat Kid and hit her straight in the face.
Snatcher and Vanessa gasped, stopping the fight and went over to Hat Kid. “Kiddo, are you okay?” Snatcher asked.
“I’m fine.” Hat Kid replied by removing the pillow from her face, and coughing up a feather. She looked at the kids giving a small glare. Snatcher and Vanessa looked at the pillow in their hands before hiding it behind their backs with a sheepish smile. “Next time you guys have a pillow fight,” she started grabbing the pillow that was thrown at her, “don’t forget to invite me!” She shouted before throwing the pillow at Snatcher.
Vanessa laughed till Hat Kid found a stray pillow and threw it at her, and soon all three kids were throwing pillows at one another making the mess much bigger than before.
Soon the pillow fight came to an end, and Hat Kid and Rumbi were cleaning up all the feathers off the floor. Vanessa and Snatcher were sitting on the bed watching the two clean the room. “Your right Luke, that was fun!” Vanessa beamed.
“Told you!” Snatcher added.
Hat Kid paused on her cleaning when she saw the royal kids giggling. She smiled and walked over to them, and they stopped laughing seeing the hat child. Hat Kid gave a sigh and smiled at the kids to reassure them, “I’m not mad you guys, don’t worry.” Snatcher and Vanessa sighed in relief. “But, I do have a surprise for you two.”
Snatcher and Vanessa gasped and beamed. “A surprise!?” Vanessa shouted.
Hat Kid nodded. She grabbed the two bags and handed them to the kids. “Since you guys might be here for a while, I decided to do some shopping and get you guys some new clothes and pajamas for tonight.” She explained.
The royal kids looked in the bag and smiled at their clothes. Knowing from their smiles, Hat Kid knew they loved it. “Could we put it on now?” Vanessa asked.
“Of course!” Hat Kid replied with a smile. “Snatcher you change in here, I’ll take Vanessa to the restroom to change there.” She explained taking Vanessa to the bathroom so she can get changed too.
Hat Kid waited in the living room for the kids to finish changing. Once they came out she smiled seeing them in their new clothes.
Snatcher wore a purple and black diamond patterned sweater vest over a long sleeved grey shirt, black pants and brown shoes.
Vanessa was wearing a green dress with white flowers printed all over it and a pair of green mary janes.
“What do you two think?” Hat Kid asked.
“I love it!” Vanessa beamed dancing around in her dress. She went up and hugged Hat Kid, who was surprised by the hug.
Hat Kid and Vanessa turned to Snatcher who still hasn’t replied to Hat Kid’s question. “Snatcher, what do you think?”
Snatcher’s eyes widened hearing that he hadn’t responded to the kid’s question yet. “Well…” He started. Soon Vanessa and Hat Kid were in front of his face waiting on his answer. Snatcher gulped and blushed hard. Peck, they really wanted to hear his answer. “Well, I like it. You have good taste in clothes, kiddo.” Snatcher replied.
Hat Kid smiled and hugged the former ghost. “I knew you cared!” She smiled.
Snatcher blushed in embarrassment. “Don’t think of it as being nice. I just needed to wear something that wasn’t my prince’s uniform.” He said in his defense. Hat Kid turned to Vanessa giving her a smug look, telling her that Snatcher did care for the new outfit a lot, he just said it in his own Snatcher way.
Vanessa giggled seeing what Hat Kid was trying to tell her. Soon she stopped laughing, hearing her stomach rumble.
Now it was Hat Kid and Snatcher’s turn to giggle. “Guess someone’s hungry.” Hat Kid pointed out.
Embarrassed, Vanessa chuckled. “Yeah.” She confessed.
Hat Kid chuckled. “Well don’t worry dinner's almost ready!” She reminded the kids. The royal kids smiled and went to the kitchen to get seated for dinner with Hat Kid following behind.
Dinner was pretty surprising tonight, Vanessa ate everything on her plate. Though it was only because lassuanga was one of her favorites when she was alive. It didn’t matter to Hat Kid as she didn’t have to deal with Vanessa being picky or threatening alien food on the child.
After dinner, Hat Kid and the royal kids got cleaned up and got them dressed in their pajamas. Snatcher wore a two piece purple buttoned up pajamas and Vanessa had green pajamas that had a tiara on the shirt and diamonds on the pants, almost like her dress.
Vanessa came into Hat Kid’s room and was shocked with what she saw. She saw Snatcher in the pillow pile reading what looked to be Hat Kid’s diary. “Is that Miss. Hat’s diary?!” Vanessa asked.
Snatcher chuckled. “Yep. There’s lots of things here we didn’t know about her!” He pointed out.
Vanessa glared and snatched the book from her ex. “Well it's rude to read a girl’s diary!” Vanessa shouted. “Now put it back before she finds out!”
Too late.
“Is that my dairy?!” Hat Kid asked as she came back after changing into her pajamas. Her pajamas were white with lavender sleeves, and a ring planet with stars and hearts on it. The pants were lavender with stars patterned all over it.
Snatcher snickered as Vanessa stood there shocked as she held the dairy. “Oooh, you're in trouble.” He joked.
Vanessa glared, “You're the one who read it, Luke!” Vanessa shouted as she punched him in the shoulder.
Hat Kid sighed and took the journal from Vanessa’s hands before putting back in her hidden fort. “One thing you kids should not touch is my diary!” She advised.
“Sorry kiddo.” Snatcher apologized.
“Well, I never told anyone about my dairy or my fort, but yes it's my personal quarters and no one is allowed in. Got it?” Hat Kid warned.
“Got it.” Snatcher and Vanessa said at the same time. Hat Kid gave a small smile and ruffled the kids head knowing they are forgiven. Hat Kid was about to call it lights out till she heard Snatcher speak, “Why do you hate singing?” He asked.
Hat Kid froze. “I-I just.” Hat Kid tried to find the words, but nothing was coming out. “I’m just a bad singer.” She said as she shut off the light and went to bed. “Night guys.”
Snatcher and Vanessa looked at each other and frowned before pulling the blanket close to them. “Night!” They replied back before lying down and hoping to get some sleep. Snatcher, however he couldn’t sleep and looked up at his obligated contract BFF who was already asleep. He sighed and hopefully he could get some sleep despite being worried for his BFF.

Minor Details Ch 9/?
Ao3 Ch1 Ch2 Ch3 Ch4 Ch5 Ch6 Ch7 Ch8 Next
Marinette's existential crisis only overshadowed her natural instinct to help people for a moment. Before she knew it she was over grabbing the boy's hand, helping him up and reaching for the bag he had dropped.
"I'm so sorry, I should have been watching where I was going. I'm just late for school, not that that's an excuse and I-" she cut herself off, noticing that the boy was chuckling.
"It's okay, clumsy girl. No harm done." He smiled, it was wide and tipped up at the corners. /Clumsy girl/ Marinette felt her stomach twist unpleasantly.
"Well, sorry again I've gotta run. Late you know." Marinette panickedly pressed the boy's bag into his chest and turned tail and ran. Leaving the bemused blonde standing on the sidewalk, a small smile on his face.
Luckily she didn't have far to go as she dashed up the steps and into the building, not noticing Alya in her hiding spot.
-
"Alya?" A voice behind her made her jump about a foot in the air. She flailed and dropped her journal, papers flying everywhere. Adrien winced. "Sorry! I didn't mean to startle you!" He bent down and began collecting the papers. Alya squinted at him, recovering from her shock, and bent down to pick things up.
"Wow, Adrien, you move so quietly. Someone ought to hang a bell around your neck so you can't sneak up on people like that!" She watched his face carefully, smirking a little when his cheeks reddened slightly and nervousness danced at the edge of his expression.
"Ha... Um... Hey, Alya what were you doing hiding in the bushes anyway?" He asked, looking down at the papers he had picked up. A couple things grabbed his attention. His name, bolded, circled and triple underlined and a header: Chat Noir's identity. He gulped audibly as he raised his eyes to meet Alya's.
"Why, I was waiting for you! Chat Noir." She grinned at the absolutely caught look on his face.
-
Plagg hated leaving Adrien to the fox's mercy, but he had just seen Ladybug run past the bushes into the school and he needed to talk to Tikki as soon as possible. Before Adrien could stumble his way through trying to cover up what Alya had found, Plagg zipped up out of his pocket, winked at her and then dissappeared through the wall of the school chasing that little pink bag to the tune of Adrien frustratedly calling his name.
It didn't take long for him to find an appropriate moment to jump into Marinette's purse. Tikki squeaked at his sudden appearance.
"Sorry to just barge in on you Sugarcube but we've got a problem." Tikki collected herself quickly, her face morphing into an expression of sheer annoyance.
"Oh we definitely have a problem. Just what game is your holder playing? I know he knows who Ladybug is, so why is he trying to confuse her? I thought he wanted her to know who he was?" Plagg held his arms up placatingly.
"Tikki, it's about Hawkmoth." The red bug paused in her rant, her eyes growing wide again at the somber serious tone in Plaggs voice. "Gabriel Agreste is Hawkmoth."
"What?" She whispered. "But thats-"
"My holder's father, yeah. I found the entrance to where he stores the Akumas last night. I couldn't find Nooroo, but I'm sure that just means he keeps her locked away." Tikki's antennae drooped.
"Was there any sign of Duusuu?" Plagg shrugged.
"I'm not sure, but he has his wife encased in a glass coffin below the house. She's laying on a bed of white feathers so it seems likely." The kwamis were silent for a moment, contemplating the horrors of the situation.
"You're going to have to bring Wayzz to the house. He's the only one of us that can sense other kwamis nearby." Tikki said finally breaking the silence.
"I don't know if it will work, he and Master Fu already came to the house once. Granted Wayzz was only out in Adrien's room but he didn't say anything if he felt their presence nearby." Plagg sighed. "I'm gonna talk to them today."
"I'll go with you, if you want. I need to talk to him about Marinette's compromised identity anyway. We can go while our kids are on their date. We wont be in the miracle box so we can always hurry back to them if there's an akuma." Tikki floated over, wrapping her arm around Plagg, he leaned into her side.
"It's not fair, Tikki. Why did I have to be the kwami of bad luck? How am I going to tell my kid about this? He's already depressed. His dad neglects him, witholds emotional contact when he does see him, ties up his free time with a million activities to prevent him from spending time with people who would emotionally bond with him. And occasionally refuses to let him do things even when his schedule allows for it just to demonstrate his absolute control over my kids life. It's abuse, Tikki. And now this guy is the literal supervillain we've been fighting against. The guy who taunted my kid's friend for wanting to throw him a birthday party is the same guy who used dark magic on that same friend to make him hurt my kid and everyone he cares for. And the guy is his father! My kid still holds out hope that their relationship will improve when his dad stops grieving the loss of his mom, but his mom is down there. In Hawkmoth's lair, encased in some sort of weird glass coffin shrine. This is going to break him Tikki. I'm almost sure of it."
Tikki's heart broke watching Plagg's eyes swim with tears. It always seemed to go this way with black cats. Something always happened that her partner couldn't save them from, and despite all his bluster it killed him to watch the kids suffer.
"We'll think of something, stinky sock. He wont be alone. He has you, and me, and my kid, and Trixx and Wayzz and Pollens kids. Not to mention all the new heros that have been tested out lately. Even if we need to give every single other miraculous out to one of his friends, we'll make sure he has the support he needs. You wont have to take care of him alone this time." She hugged him harder.
-
Marinette had waited by the door to the classroom until the warning bell rang, but there was still no sign of Alya or Adrien. It was strange. Alya was never late unless there was an akuma. The last thing Marinette needed was for her to be sick today. She caught Nino's arm as he walked into the classroom.
"Sup, dudette?" He said, removing a headphone from his ear.
"Hey Nino. Have you seen Alya today? She's almost never late." Nino, nodded.
"Ch'yah she and Adrien were talking out front the school. They said they'd be in soon." Marinette's face blanched. That couldn't be good.
"Thanks Nino!" She took off at a run, unknowingly catching the attention of one Chloe Bourgeois.
-
Alya had her hands on her hips looking at a sheepish Adrien with a less-than-impressed expression.
"Look, dude, she's my best friend. You need to be upfront with her or you're gonna fuck this up. She's liked you for a long time and she doesn't play games." Adrien nodded.
"I will, I promise. I care about her too Alya."
"Good, and Adrien?" Marinette skidded out the front door looking wildly around for her renegade bff. "If you hurt her, I'll have Anansi rip your arms off."
"Alya!!!" Marinette yelled, appalled, looking for all the world like she wished the ground would open up and swallow her whole.
"Understood." Adrien laughed. Alya winked at him, kissed Marinette on the cheek and walked into the building. Marinette buried her face in her hands.
"Oh my god I'm gonna kill her" She softly shrieked into her hands. Adrien, who hadn't been doing a good job keeping a straight face, laughed outright at this.
"It's okay Marinette. She just cares about you. I get it."
"She's a menace!" Marientte continued in the same tone. Adrien wrapped his arms around her.
"Would it help if I had Nino threaten you over my virtue?" He snorted. "Ooh better yet, Chloe." Marinette laughed weakly at this, causing Adrien to grin in triumph. She peeked out from behind her fingers, her face bright red and her eyes wide at the familiar contact.
"I can't believe she did that." His grin widened.
"Don't fret, Marinette. Despite threats of bodily dismemberment, I am still looking forward to our date tonight." He didn't know Marinette's face could get redder, but it did. She was just about the color of her suit. She was smiling though, so that was good.
"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!" An unwelcome voice screeched from the entrance to the school. "A DATE?!? WITH DUPAIN-CHENG?!?! UNNACCEPTABLE!"
Marinette and Adrien turned towards Chloe's furious face just in time to see the akuma land on her sunglasses.
-
"Tikki!" Marinette whispered to her bag as she ran down the hallway looking for a place to transform. "I thought you were supposed to be the kwami of GOOD luck! What is even happening right now? Did I do something to piss Plagg off? Did he curse me?" She stepped into an empty classroom, locking it behind her."Because if so, I am absolutely ready to apologize for whatever it was. I will full on beg for his forgiveness if needed... I will buy him a literal mountain of cheese if that's what it takes-." She stopped as she opened her bag and noticed 2 sets of eyes staring back at her, one of them a very familiar green.
"A mountain of cheese, you say?" Plagg asked, a grin on his tiny black face. "Sorry Sugar cube, duty calls." He blew a kiss to Tikki, bowed to Marinette and phased quickly through the wall.
Marinette and Tikki looked at eachother for a moment.
"Nevermind, we'll talk later. Spots On, Tikki, hurry."
Marinette and Tikki looked at eachother for a moment.

Back and Forth Dialogue With a friend: Matrix visits Chicega
The second half of a dialogue trade with Toblerone ^-^
(Srsly this girl needs some support PLEASE MAKE A SOCIAL MEDIA SO I CAN TAG YOU YOU AMAZING ARTIST WRITER BFF YOU-)
So, like last time, this is a thing where a character from one person’s world is thrown into the universe of the other’s. Last time, it was Toble’s character Calli in my setting of the Illumise Headquarters. Check it out sometime! :D
- Me
~ Toble
Also sadly, none of this is canon :(
===Toblerone Explaining Scene===
“~ So I'm gonna do the Raid on Chicega, which is basically a large city much like New York
~ The government may have had bounds in tech but the public hasn't
~ The cars are more high tech tho, so are billboards
~  Cameras are everywhere, and a guard in a helmet and high tech suit is on every corner. They all have pulse guns.
~  The Area Tower is the tallest tower in the city.
-  so a Dystopian futuristic New York?
~  Yes
~  The city has a huge industrial zone to the east, and it’s surrounded by plains
~ And that’s about all. Ready?”
-------------------------------Roleplay Line--------------------------------
-  Matrix wanders into the city with a coffee cup in his hands, gazing at the brightly colored signs.
~  The sky was clear above Chicega. Zilo cast a casual glance into the street, standing outside Dale's coffee shop.
-  Matrix's eyes wandered over to a nearby coffee shop. Maybe they have pastries there? He wondered, opening the doors and walking inside, waving hi to the barista.
~  Zilo brushed a strand of bright blonde hair out of his face and went inside the shop, seeing Dale working busily behind the counter, and Calli and Hailey sitting at a small table in the corner. Zilo's eyes drifted to the newcomer.
-  He felt eyes on his back, so Matrix turned to see a blonde-haired boy seated at a window table staring at him. He waved at him awkwardly.
~  Zilo smiled at him and waved him over.
-  Matrix hesitated, then sighed and sat down with them. "No offense, but it's a a little weird to stare at someone from across the room."
- "You could have just said hi," He smiled.
~  "I've just never seen you in the shop!" Zilo answered. "We usually have the same people in and out at the same time." He shrugged. "Bad habit. Can I get you something?" Zilo gestured at the glass display case of foods and other things.
-  He glanced at the display case with his watermelon eyes, and set his sights on a raspberry cinnamon roll the size of a dinnerplate. "I'd like that one," He pointed at the roll, "But I'll buy it with my own money, thanks." He began walking over to the cashier, but stopped midway. He turned to the blonde boy and said, "I'm Matrix, by the way."
~  Zilo grinned. "I'm Zilo, and alright, suit yourself. " He laughed lightly, swinging around to face his sisters, who were talking quietly with grim faces.
~   Calli suddenly shot up straight in her chair, knocking her coffee of the table. Black cat ears appeared from her head, standing up and alert. Hailey also looked concerned, and feathers appeared from behind her ears, also straight and alert.
-  Matrix’s eyes widened in confusion.
~  Zilo jumped up and sprinted to them. "What's wrong, Calli?"
~  She quietly said, "I hear planes."
-  "Good planes or bad planes?"
~  Zilo let his own gold wolf ears appear, and then he heard them too, the low menacing buzz of an engine.
~  He flipped around. "Matrix, Dale, you guys need to leave. Run. Get out as fast as you can."
- “Wait,” Matrix said. “I can help you guys!”
~  "How?" Zilo said. "Can you stop over fifty planes?"
-  "Maybe," He muttered. He paced around a bit. "Do you know where the nearest cell tower is?"
~  "Here I'll take you there." Zilo waved to his sisters, who were crashing through the front window. "There they go!"
-  "Great! I'll follow you." He ran through the doors of the café and after him. "*Huff* I shouldn't *huff* have worn *huff* a fluffy jacket," He panted as they ran down the city streets.
~  Zilo weaved through the streets, fighting through a crowd of joggers and up to a tower. "Okay look, I have a plan."
-  "I do too, but I'm listening."
~  "I don't know how you're gonna stop the planes but I'm going up there." Zilo pointed to the top of Ara Tower. "Signal me with this before you crash the planes." Zilo handed him a black flare with a white button and sprinted off towards the tower.
(It was at this point that the story split for a moment into two separate ones. I’ll do Toble’s first then mine :>)
==============================================
Zilo took a flying leap and a loud cracking sound emanated from his feet. His boosters flashed and he rocketed upward, towards the tower. Hailey flew along beside him, her wings letting her glide effortlessly. "Where's Calli?" He asked, nervous.
"I don't know, she took off towards the other side of the tower." Zilo nodded, then felt his side vibrate. His emergency teleporter was flashing. He grabbed it and pulled it out as he slammed face first into the towers roof, cutting his face on a wire sticking out of the air conditioning unit.
Zilo stood up as the air to his left flashed brightly and suddenly Calli was there, her own emergency teleporter in hand.
Calli chuckled and pulled out a launcher, that was already charging. "Where's your friend?" She asked, a little winded.
"He's supposed to signal me soon." Zilo said, turning towards the cell towers direction. Calli kneeled on the tower and aimed the launcher upwards towards the swarm of black dots in the distance.
Zilo saw the flare go off and yelled, "THERE IT IS!"
===============================================
-  "Good luck!" He called after him. Matrix then looked at the tower's floor map, which was hung in a frame over the receptionist stand, searching for the broadcasting floor where the computers were.
-  "Floor 19," The map said. Just under the top floor. He sprinted up the stairs, tying his navy aviator jacket around his waist. "Please, let this work," He muttered as he pushed in the doors to the room alight with computer screens. "Broadcast, broadcast..." He mumbled as he checked the labels on each of the cords plugged into cameras, microphones and computers.  "Input, output, phone charger... Broadcast!"
-  He brandished the USB cord with triumph for a moment, then paused. "Now, here comes the painful part..."
-  He held the USB in one hand, and an Input cord in the other. After a deep breath in and out, he plunged the two cords into the side of his arm. "Please work, please work, please work, please work," He said through gritted teeth as his form started to flicker and pixellate, and, as he slowly disintegrated into pixels, he pressed the white button on the flare he was given before it clattered to the ground. The computer flashed for a second, and a beam of electricity shot up a cord, heading for the tower's antenna.
===============================================
Calli nodded as she began to be encircled in an electric blue sphere, soon she was almost hidden inside. A crackling sound came from it.
Abruptly, the sphere around Calli shot forward with an exploding sound and hit one of the bombers head on. It exploded into shards that rained down on the streets.
===============================================
Bravo Fighter 3 sat in the cockpit of jet number 33. She flew over the cell tower confidently, preparing to double back and open fire on the city at the boss's orders when a small ERROR message on her ship's console caught her attention.
Suddenly, every monitor on the console flashed orange, then faded to a pastel pink. "What in the..."
A chat menu had overlapped the ship's electronic controls.
Messages were pouring in the dash, one at a time: "Hmm, what to say to crash this..." read a message at the top. "Um, I could count to two hundred in French? Yeah, I'll do that."
She looked at the dash in confusion for a moment as the bot continued, "Un de tois, quatre-something..." until she noticed the messages going faster and faster, until they blurred upwards in astonishing speeds. The engine behind her had began to run hot. She noticed a type area for her to type in as Bravo Fighter 7 flew above her, and crackled onto her radio asking why she'd flown off-course. However, she was busy talking with the bot. He seemed... friendly, almost?
She continued talking to the craft until she noticed her ship dipping towards the ground. She yanked the flying gear up, but the ship was unresponsive.
===============================================
Zilo saw the MAG begin to fall over the cell tower and he yelled in triumph.
Hailey shot towards another MAG, literally tackling it from the air and towards the ground with a loud smashing sound.
Zilo followed Calli into the air, as both leapt towards a mechdropper.
===============================================
As the ship began flashing red and the pilot hit the eject button, one more message popped up on the screen: "Don't text and drive."
===============================================
Calli threw a punch at the cockpit, bending the MAGMD in two and it exploded as they passed through flying debris.
Zilo grabbed Calli's shoulders and threw her upwards. She latched onto another MAG while Zilo fell downwards onto a MAGMC.
===============================================
    =(  (  (  ALL TOGETHER NOW  )  )  )=
- More and more ships began dipping downward. Any ship that flew close enough to a dipping one began to malfunction the same. Two dozen pilots in parachutes floated down from the sky, where the others were waiting. Zilo examined one of the fallen jets, and the earpiece in his ear crackled with static. "Hey Zilo! Got them down for you!"
- "Also, you guys are surprisingly good at this," Matrix's voice continued from Zilo's earpiece as Zilo took down another MAG.
~  Zilo laughed. "Kind of my job!" he said offhandedly, throwing a fire charge at a passing fighter and then landing flat on the street, barely saved by his shield.
- "So, I've hacked into a lot of their jets, and I have a cool magic trick I can show you," He said excitedly. "Watch this!" His voice said from the earpiece.
- Below them, the crashed jets that still had their miniguns were aiming them at the few jets still in the air. A few careful, precise shots from the machine guns took down all the remaining jets that had stayed away from the ones that had crashed.
- The debris from them fell to the ground like demented snow."Abra Kadabra," He said from the earpiece.
~ "HAHAHA YEAH THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!" Zilo yelled in happiness and victory.
~ But he screamed when the MAG flew into his side.
- “NO-O-O-O-O-”
~  Zilo hung to the nose of the jet, coughing up blood. His ears hung limply, and Calli and Hailey were nowhere to be found...
-  "Oh no, oh nonononono," Matrix said from the earpiece. "What the heck is up with this dang jet's antivirus software?!," a moment later. "Hang on, Zilo, I can save this, I-I can save this..."
~  "Just do what you can-" Zilo coughed, cutting out. "Can't blame ya, the Russians are weasels."   (Just a part of her story, I’m sorry)
-  "I CAN DEFINITELY SAVE THIS," He cried through the earpiece. In the background, a mechanical voice repeated "Access denied. Virus detected."
~  Zilo screamed and suddenly the jet was no where near. Calli gave him a thumbs up from the top of the now flaming jet.
-  "Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected. Access denied. Virus detected."
~  "WE'VE GOTTA SAVE MATRIX!" he screamed.  (Which gave me the idea to...)
-  "OH GOD ZILO I'M SORRY, I'M SO SORRY I COULDN'T-" Silence.
~  Hailey suddenly flickered out of the air and appeared in the cyber space. She grabbed Matrix's pixelly arm and yanked him into reality.
-  Hailey came out of the computer, tugging a half-pixelated arm free from the computer. It hung limply.
~  Hailey's eyes widened and she yelled in terror and sadness. Zilo started to cry, and Calli looked up in horror.
-  The hand began to disintegrate into pixels, until it flickered green for a moment.
- Zilo’s earpiece buzzed.
- Slowly, the arm regenerated itself, then a sleeve, then a shoulder...
~ Zilo began a small smile, reaching for Matrix hopefully...
-  until Matrix was lying on the hull face down, his pistacio hair discheveled. "uuuugghhhhh," He groaned.
-  "Dang, I haven't come that close since the comet," he muttered as he got up onto his knees.
~  "Oh thank god you’re okay" Zilo hugged him.
- Matrix hugs him back.
- “Did we do it?” He asked, glancing at the thirty or so wrecked ships.
~ “Yeah, mostly. We still have the mechs to deal with, though.”
-  Matrix turned to hear the stomping of mechs in the distance. "Oh, come on," he moaned, then shook himself. "Okay, let's do this," He said confidently.
- And the four of them sprinted off, ready to fight again. -
The End :3

CHAPTER 13 - She’s Come Undone and Set Free - Angry BAMF Elena Fic
relationships: elena/elijah, elena & rebekah, elena & caroline, elena & bonnie, caroline/klaus, bonnie/rebekah
summary:
She’d been free. Freed from a conscience she couldn’t afford to give up again. Free from the grief she’d never actually wanted to abandon, not until the choice was taken from her. But also free from the two brothers that had been taking choices away from her from the moment they’d come to town.
And she didn’t want to give that freedom up. She wouldn’t. Not ever again.
/or/
When Elena feels her humanity returning she finds herself focusing on having finally been free from the Salvatore brothers, and doesn't abandon her justified anger. Unfortunately, she also realizes that her sire bond to Damon isn't fully broken and goes to Rebekah for help, help that involves a little trip to New Orleans.
On the way, Elena will have to deal with her newly returned humanity as well as some long-awaited truths about Caroline's old relationship with the older Salvatore.
There are some things that even the most compassionate person could never forgive.

sneak peek:
“Come in?”
She pushed open the door and found Elena sitting on the bed, hands clasped together in what strangely looked like nervousness. Caroline bent her head slightly, there was the edge of some kind of paper peeking out from under the pillow behind Elena and she wondered briefly if she wanted to be sidetracked by whatever that was about - there were signs of wiped-away tears from Elena’s cheeks though and maybe her friend could use a distraction too.
So instead, Caroline smirked and put her index finger in front of her lips, flipping open the cover of the notebook to show Elena the first message.
   Me. You. Bonnie’s room. Now.
There was less than an instant of confusion in Elena’s eyes before it cleared and was replaced by a glint of amusement. She nodded and they left for their goal with no further words needed.

NOTE: Apologies for how caustic Kim is at the beginning of this bit haha. Also, rest in peace, Chester Bennington.
You'll probably think I'm being a super lazy storyteller when I start out with "And that's how it went for a week or so." Fuck you, I do what I want. Besides, I'm going to give you some summary stuff, so don't get too bent out of shape.
And that's how it went for a week or so. Knives would disappear for a couple days, then pop back into my life to just chat and hang out, come with me to the library or work, digging through albums at Sonic Boom. Literally a stray dog. None of my attempts to be acerbic and grumpy could drive her off. Sometimes she wanted to get food together, sometimes she wouldn't bring it up. Eventually, she stopped asking about the "challenges" though, which was fine since there weren't any. One thing I had to wonder about, though…
She never invited herself back to my apartment, or asked me to go to her place. Probably the second one is because she's living with her parents while on break from uni. But it was weird; she was spending all this extra time finding me and following me, wanting to have enforced bonding time, but never wanted to see where I lived or make the night longer. It's not so much that I was disappointed by that, of course. Just surprised. Like people who jumbo-size their fast food meal, then order a diet soda. Why go for broke with the eats but then stop short on the drink? Just not logic that I can follow.
Anyway, that was about it until the night Steph and I were going to play an actual show instead of being stuck in the corner of a café. I hadn't been thinking too much about it, because to be honest, the idea of playing this kind of music in front of an audience that actually came specifically to hear live music was terrifying. It took all night for me to psych myself up to not chicken out, since this wasn't exactly my comfort zone with live performance.
"We can do this," she was whispering backstage as we waited anxiously for the emcee to call for us. "We can. We totally can, and we totally will."
"You're going to talk both of us out of it at this rate."
"Shhh." Adjusting her ironic beret, she glanced over at me. "Almost showtime, that guy with the six harmonicas seems close to done."
Nodding, I pushed my coppery bangs out of my face. They were growing out, and finally just long enough that they were almost normal hair. I was just sick of bangs. "Yeah."
"You okay?"
My entire body bristled. "What? Fine. Shut up."
"You've been kind of weird since last week at the Other Cup. Like… we don't talk much outside of band prac-"
"I really don't want to, either," I lied. Sure, it'd be nice to have someone besides the hyper ninja chick to talk to, but Steph didn't have to offer friendship out of pity. We were both above that.
"Suit yourself. Oh, this is us."
Shaking off the vague feeling of nausea, I made myself follow her out onto the tiny stage. The announcer just said our names and encouraged the audience to "give it up", which they did, politely and quietly. We didn't have a band name yet since Steph said she was "over labels" and I didn't want to argue with her. Naming it would be accepting that this was actually the shitty excuse for a band that I was currently part of. The latest of many.
"This one's called 'Garland of Cornelia'," she said into the mic. "And it goes a little something like this."
What a cheeseball.
We played our set, and people actually didn't boo us off. We sounded as good as we possibly could given the kind of crap Steph writes, and dare I say it, we might have been ready for the big time if we could find a flautist. Or a thereminist; that seemed about right for this pretentious bullshit. It made my skin crawl and I really wanted someone else to be playing the bongos instead of me, since really she could play bongos as well as I can — just not at the same time as the zither. But I could fill in with her for now until she found someone who hated the music less than me. Or until I found another rock outfit that wouldn't implode like the others.
Part of the gig was that we got free drinks after our set, so after more polite applause I literally only took enough time to shove my bongos into the bag before heading straight for the bar. "Steam Whistle."
"Can I see some ID?"
"Cute." But the bartender just stared me straight in the face, and he didn't look like the type to mess around. Shrugging, I got it out and showed him, and he got me a beer.
I'd barely had enough time to get two sips in before I spotted Knives at the corner of the bar, far away and close to the door. She wasn't with anybody, and she wasn't looking at me either when I first spotted her. Maybe it was a wild coincidence.
Or maybe the way she did catch me looking at her, gulped, and sprinted for the door meant that it wasn't anything close to a coincidence.
Of course I ran after her. When somebody runs away, it's only natural to want to chase them down and figure out why, isn't it? But when I got outside, she was nowhere to be seen. I thought about trying to follow, asking if anyone saw a speeding Chinese puppy-girl and which way she went, but everybody on that street was either wasted or sleeping it off in doorways. No sense in wasting my time. Disgusted, I turned and went back inside.
What did she want from me? Why didn't she wait? The whole thing was so ridiculously confusing that I focused on downing as much beer as possible for a minute or two.
"What did I miss?" Steph asked when she caught up to me, picking up on my bad mood before she even sat down.
"Life is stupid."
"We weren't that bad. They actually clapped a little. Some of them, anyway."
"Not that. Just… nevermind, I should probably go home."
Her elbow bumped mine on the bar. "Don't be like that. I actually don't hate you, even if the feeling isn't mutual."
"Maybe it should be mutual. Hatred, I mean; just… whatever." My head slumped forward until it connected with the bar. "I'm trying not to care about something that doesn't deserve to be cared about in the first place."
"What's that?"
Another sigh. "The girl from Delicious Cup."
"Oh. You and her are a thing?"
"WHAT? No. Don't jump to conclusions." My hands gently spun the empty pint glass. "She made this proclamation that she's my 'bff' now, I guess. Even though I don't care. Anyway… she was here tonight."
"She came to hear us? That's pretty decent of her."
"No, it's weird. I never told her about this show. How did she know to come see us?"
When I peeked at Steph, I saw one of her eyebrows was raised as she ordered us two more beers. "Uhh, could be the marquee out front that said 'Steph Nordegraf and Kim Pine'? Just a tiny clue."
"Those letters are so tiny, though. Unless she's walking around with a microscope in her bag…"
"Look." The beers arrived, and we both paused to take a swig before she continued, "She clearly looks up to you. Younger girl, right? She needs a role model or something like that. Happens all the time, teenagers latch onto women who are still young enough to be 'friends' but not old enough to be a second mother, and kinda… you know, that word for imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, that thing?"
"Emulate," I guessed.
"Yeah, that's it. Probably all there is to it. Kind of a feather in your cap, if she wants to be like you even with you being the way you are. Don't worry about everything so much."
"And what way am I, exactly?" The point had been to put her on the defensive and shut her down, but of course, it didn't work because nobody takes me seriously anymore. She didn't even hesitate to answer before taking another drink.
"An asshole."
"Thanks."
                                              ~ o ~
"Hey!" Knives said cheerfully as she bounced into No-Account the next day.
"What were you doing at Cameron last night?"
She literally froze in mid-high five. Which I hadn't raised my hand to return, anyway; I wanted answers before we moved along to pleasantries. "Uh… what?"
"You were there. I saw you run out."
"Nahhhhh," she drawled out, very slowly thawing from her frozen pose and tucking her non-high-fived hand behind her back with its twin. "That was the other girl."
"What other girl?"
"I don't know? Not me, that's for sure. Why would I be at Cameron House?"
"Because you're stalking me. We kind of already established that part."
Wilting, she finally leaned against the counter and gave me the puppy-dog eyes. "Am not. Well… not that bad, I don't spy through your bedroom window or anything at night. Just wanna see what you do with your days."
"You could have asked to come along."
"How? You didn't tell me you were playing."
The slight pout won me over, and I sighed. "Fine. Just forget it."
"You guys were good, though! Weird, but good. What do you call that kind of music?"
"Trainwreck."
"Trainwreck, huh?" she asked, again missing that I was being facetious. "It's kinda like, soothing, except for Steph's lyrics are brutal in that Nineties lesbian way."
My eyebrows twitched upward a little. "What do you know about Nineties lesbians?"
"N-nothing, except for Ellen," she laughed nervously. "But the music, I mean… I've been trying to learn about music more. Started because of Sex Bob-omb, but then I kinda started branching out from there."
Rolling my eyes, I grunted, "Nobody should start learning anything because of Sex Bob-omb. Those two demos floating around online are going to forever haunt me."
"They were good! You guys rocked, you just… drifted apart."
Knives looked sad. Like, genuinely sad that everything changed, the way high schoolers usually do right after graduation, or — gee, look at that — after their first year of college. Pathetic and dejected, her sweet little face the picture of a child who had lost their favourite toy and finally figured out it wasn't coming back. Maybe that's why I reached up to lay a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey… we sucked. Not worth getting upset over."
"But you didn't suck. I liked it…"
"You just admitted you didn't know much about music before hearing us. Like… angsty young Kim was listening to Linkin Park constantly in junior high, and now I think they're shit. But that nostalgia factor makes me stop myself from completely hating them. You know?"
"Awww," Knives cooed, momentarily distracted. "Angsty young Kim…"
"Shut up. But you get what I'm saying?"
"Yeah." Her hand came up to wipe her eyes. Had she been crying?! I hadn't noticed because no actual tears fell, and she was looking down and pouting. But now when she looked upward with a slight smile, patting my hand, I could see how shiny her eyes were. "Thanks, I guess. Still liked you guys together, though, but… I guess…"
Swallowing hard, I jerked my hand away. The whole 'emoting' thing made me very uncomfortable. But then I winced when I saw her wince. We both ended up doing a lot of wincing lately. I had to smooth that over somehow.
"Um… you can pick the next movie. Got just enough time for it before my shift is up."
Clearing her throat, she grinned up at me, and the signs that she had been crying were way too clear to ignore. It hurt for some stupid reason. "Cool. But I know even less about movies than about music, so… I dunno. That zombie movie?"
"It's not even real," I sighed, looking over at the new releases. Which were still from forever ago.
"Oh? Well then… 'Action Doctor'?"
"Sounds lame. What about 'It Came From Subspace'?"
"That could be cool… what's it about?"
"Hell if I know. But it's a movie, and I haven't seen it yet, either."
That was what we watched. And the whole time, I found myself looking over at Knives and trying to figure out why she was there. Why she cared so much about whether or not I cared the same amount as her about the implosion of the Bob-omb. Why I cared whether or not she cared. Just this annoying circle of caring that made me want to pull my hair out.
About halfway through, she caught me staring. "What?"
"Just… wondered if you wanted a drink." It was the only excuse I could think of.
"Nah. I'm good. Do you?"
"Nah."
"Do you want something else?"
Even though I felt like I might, like to ask her again why she felt it was so important to watch me and Steph play, or any of those caring-related questions that had been spinning through my head, all I did was shrug. That was simpler. Safer. Less threatening to my grumpy way of life.
But definitely not 'better'. And it was getting harder and harder not to admit that.

codename: skylark

power: air manipulation.
occupation: headmaster’s secretary
alternate fc: maika monroe

kit veatch: recently made official boyfriend. maybe it’s not professional to be dating a coworker, but it’s not like he’s her boss, right? what started as an amusing flirtation has become something moderately serious ( a feat for rhiannon ) and she’s still adjusting to the idea of having a proper relationship for once. at least it’s with the right person.
john hale: insists that every call she transfers to him is ‘one of his girlfriends’. makes him eat healthy catered lunches. they both sass each other a lot and though rhiannon has an excellent relationship with her parents, she loves to refer to john as her ‘work dad’ ( much to his assumed chagrin ).
h e a d c a n o n s  ––
if phones still had cords, you bet your bottom dollar she’d be twirling her her finger around it. definitely uses air manipulation to her advantage ( spilling the papers of someone she doesn’t like on the floor with an innocent shrug, blowing doors shut, floating snacks from her purse over to her, floating up the stairs to her office ).
rhiannon is the quintessential eye rolling california girl, but there’s depth there too. she’s different from canon in that she isn’t emotionally traumatized at all. she’s a bit more sassy and frivolous and she’s happy too.
her parents love her and are proud of her, but they’re starting to inquire about her pursuing a higher education/position than ‘just a secretary’ ( they’re berkeley professors ). she hasn’t told them yet about kit and has some nervousness in the idea of the introduction.
I imagine that she’s probably super chummy with the students? particularly the seniors bc she’s sort of childish and still only twenty-one. so she might eat lunch with them sometimes or have friends there ( real professional, rhi ).
she doesn’t have real wings or anything btw, but rhiannon’s a fucking hipster, so she’s so into -feathers- ( bc ‘aesthetic’ ).
w a n t e d  p l o t s  ––
xoxo gossip girl: rhiannon needs a bff. somebody to talk about relationships and watch movies with while they lounge on the floor eating pizza. preferably this is someone about her age and female, but totally open to any ideas!

Happy Mother's Day to all the fintabulous moms out there! ♥♥
In honor of today, I thought I'd share a little bit of my art from the mermaid-themed adult coloring book I've been working on. ^_^ This was one of the first few pieces I created for it, n' it's inspired by my BFF and MERMAZING mersister Asherah, who's one of the very best moms I've ever known. ♥♥♥ Her kiddos are just the best, and I'm sure that's in no small part to all the love, caring & support their incredibubble mom gives them, each & every day! ♥♥
So for all you wondermous moms out there, be ye finned, footed, feathered, scaled or something else entirely, this is for you. :)  T'ank you for all the magic & love you braid into others' lives (no matter who you mother, or what your relation), and thus, spread out into the world. ♥♥ Your gifts of generosity, time, care, kindness, patience, joy & wisdom make this world a much safer, kinder, sweeter & wonder-filled place- for those you care for, and through them, everyone else. ♥☼♥
*******DESCRIPTION******* Image is a black and white line drawing of a plus-size mermaid, lovingly braiding her merling daughter's hair at center. :)  (Both are in relative profile, facing right.)  The mother sits to the left, wearing a natural shell crown & fanciful braids sitting at the beck of her head behind it, which rest over wavy tresses that cascade down her back nearly to her waist. She wears a classic clamshell bra with sea foliage trimming the outsides, & on her crown we can see a starfish, nautilus and spiral shell (just to name a few), and the shells continue around her brow out of profile. Her shell bra top has a belly drape made of fisherman's netting, and her fingers deftly weave between intricately braided tendrils of her daughter's equally long, wavy hair.
Both smiling, her slender merling at right (around 12yo in human years ;)) wears a top made of long, shingled seaweed, and is seated in front of her mum, propping herself up on one arm, while the other is extended casually in front of her.  To the rightmost side of the image, we see she's been entertaining herself with swirls of magic, which float and spiral above her outstretched palm to the rightmost edge of the page and upward above her, where 2 shining bubbles are playfully held aloft. :)
In the background there is a suggestion of 3 distant seagulls careering through the sky, and while the mum works, the pair sit on a low, flat rock just above the water's subtly rippling surface, where small grasses emerge and wave at bottom left, and the merling's fluke tips gently peek out of the water at bottom right. :) ♥

random facts
Lavendeya
dyslexic as fuck
can predict what others are going to say before they say it, but gets confused on whether they’ve said it already or not, ie: “hey lav!” “IM SO PROUD OF YOU” “wh-what” “CONGRATS ON UR PROPOSAL!!!” “h-how did u--” “u told me!!!” “i wh-” and eTC
she loves flowers a lO T like if u give her a flower crown she’ll protect you with her life bc ur now her top bff
looks 20 or so but she’s old as fuck
her baby pictures basically make her look like an uncooked chicken because she had wings but she only got her feathers for every lifetime she lived after that
she loves fruit!!
and eggs!!! esp hard boiled / deviled eggs
Percy
overanalyzes things a lot, especially in human conversation
completely oblivious to Iris’ crush on him
loves to stargaze with pilot out the Odyssey’s windows and learn about Earth through Travis’ stories n what not
is taller than most of the crew, around 6′3 to be exact
doesn’t understand human affection / comfort but still appreciates it at times because he at least recognizes it as something special (ie: hugs)
Travis
super passionate about stars and space in general
probably has a vine account
if u can’t find him theres a 99% chance he’s in one of the dedicated gravity-free rooms just bouncing / floating around listening to music to get some energy out w/ his fav jams!!
Iris hates when he does this because he’s injured himself too many times that way (plus shes just a worry wart for human health in general which doeSNT HELP)
probably has scars from burning / scratching his hands / arms on accident when working with Percy on repair / wiring stuff bc his gloves suck but they're his fav pair and refuses to replace them
Julien
would often find himself staring at his scars / bruises / etc from the abuse during his times alone in the sense of zoning out really hard while thinking about what caused them (at least when he was still with his biological folks)
has accidently called cheraline ‘mom’ / ‘maman’ on multiple occasions even tho she doesn’t mind anyways
when he’s older and finally confesses his crush to Pastel / Mel (sorta-still-early transition Mel, basically) he blushes and stutters a lot even though Mel just takes his hand and intertwines their fingers together casually but with a gentle squeeze of reassurance as Mel just kinda says “i know, ya dork” with a smile bc they figured out the crush a while back but wanted to see julien confess first bc they figured it’d be extra cute (and it was!)
