Summary: I know of no Queen of England, save my mother. And I will accept no other queen, except my mother.
Tumblr media
----------
It was the king's thirty-fifth birthday, so a celebration was held in his honor. The whole royal family, the council, some ambassadors, and a few select nobles had been invited to attend the event.
Normally, the event would be put together by the king's wife, the Queen. But when she passed away three years ago, her daughter, Princess Elizabeth Coraline Mikaelson took over, assisted by her aunt, as well as her mother's old ladies-in-waiting, when possible.
Each guest was chosen by the women, and the event was strictly invite only, with the threat of imprisonment, and even beheading, keeping any unwanted personnel away.
But sadly, that did not mean all pests were kept out, as a result of the council's insistence for the king to begin seeking a new bride, so they could secure a male heir, Camille O'Connell had made her way onto the invite list.
She was a distant cousin of the current king of France, and with Sean O'Connell constantly pushing the matter, the council had decided to accept her as a candidate. That was the official statement the council had written down in the documents. But everybody knew the real reason.
Camille was the closest, blue-eyed, blond woman that the council would find, with the most royal blood to be crowned queen.
There were many women who were much closer to various royal families, but all of them had been rejected by the king.
So the council, in one last Hail Mary, had prayed that this woman, who shared a resemblance to the late Queen, would be enough for the King to accept.
But so far, after the initial introduction, the king hadn't glanced twice at the women.
This didn't dismay the women, who constantly tried to involve herself with the people at the party.
She tried to mimic the late Queen by trying to involve herself with the politics, but was quickly dismissed by a quick glare and hiss from her brother, to, "Join the ladies."
So with her head hung low, she picked up her skirts, and approached the women, only to be greeted with fans. Katherine's bright red lips formed into a smirk, Camille couldn't see it from the other side of the fan, but the ex-lady-in-waiting's eyes said it all.
The blond was unwanted.
"It's quite pathetic isn't it." Katherine said, snapping her fan shut onto her hand as she stared down at Camille, "I would have thought for sure the council would have taken the hint by now."
"Well they are men. What can you expect?" Bonnie Mikaelson, the wife of the youngest Mikaelson sighed, joining her sister-in-law. She glanced at Camille, "As a woman, I would have expected better of you. You should be able to take a hint, no."
The blond grew angry, "How dare you! I'm going to be the next Queen! I suggest you show me some respect!"
This outburst caught everybody's attention.
Klaus stopped talking with his brothers, his eyes narrowing at the women, he took a step towards her, only to be stopped by a manicured hand.
He turned to see his sister smiling at him. Without a word, she nodded towards her niece, who was making her way towards Camillie.
"And who dares spread such lies?" Elizabeth asked, joining the group of women, her tone low. Her expression was calm and controlled, unlike Camillie's who was beginning to huff from her outburst.
"My brother! Sean said so!" Camille answered proudly.
"That's unfortunate. Your brother must be lying to you." Elizabeth informed the women. "I know of no Queen of England, save my mother." Camille opened her mouth to try and argue, but she was stopped by the look in the princess' eyes, "And I will accept no other queen, except my mother."
This left everybody speechless.
Nobody could counter the princess' words, the only one who could, was the king, and he was remaining silent.
If the princess herself refused to acknowledge any other queen, then what could they do?
The last Queen was beloved by the people, the king himself trying to gain another, would not please the people, leaving the council with no other option then try to gain the royal family's approval.
But now, the princess had publicly refused to acknowledge any other Queen, other than her mother.
Katherine and her husband smiled, proud.
If you looked closely, you could see Lady Rebekah's eyes grow glossy, well a tear slid down Lady Bonnie's.
And the king…
Klaus' eyes were wide, as he stared at his daughter.
"Caroline…" He whispered, the name that left a sweet taste in his mouth, and a hum in his ears.
If only she could see their child now.
The older Elizabeth got, the more she reminded him of her mother.
Her hair, the same sunshine shade of mother's hair.
Her eyes, the same bright pools her mother's were.
But this…
Back straight, head held high, the strength in her eyes. The very image of a Queen, just like Caroline was.
The king walked over to his daughter, the attendants wondering what he would do, Elizabeth stared her father in the eyes, having no intention of taking back her words.
Klaus smiled, pleased to see her determination, which only reassured him that he was about to do the right thing.
He embraced his daughter, before turning to some of the most important and influential people in the nation. "Let me be clear, I have no intention of re-marrying. As your princess clearly stated, England will only have one Queen. And so long as I reign, her Queen will only ever be Caroline Elizabeth Mikaelson."
"But what about an Heir, your majesty?" Sean pleaded, trying to get the king to see reason.
Klaus smiled, and turned to his daughter, "England already has an Heir, when my time comes. Elizabeth Coraline Mikaelson will become Queen, and King."
Elizabeth nods, smiling, she agrees with her father, "The Queen's Daughter and The King's Heir."

I know this was short, it was sad/sweet/heartwarming, with multiple layers of emotions (at least that's what I thought), but it was short nonetheless. I feel kind of guilty writing short drabbles, because my disclaimers are so long, so this is the disclaimer I'm going to use for shorter fics. I know some of you may say, why don't I use this shorter version for all my fics then, well because like the disclaimer says, I'm scared of getting sued (not enough to stop writing - but enough to have a long ass disclaimer), and the long disclaimer gives me a peace of mind, because I searched up everything I needed in a fanfic disclaimer, and then created my disclaimer based off that, so I could cover all my bases.
Also, the prompt line came from "The Tudors", delivered by Marry, and I just loved it. And ofcourse, my Klaroline obsessed brain came up with this as a result. This is what I was watching when I got inspired to write this: reign_supremacy/video/7116209497676287238?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7089957633293108742

The Vampire Diaries opinions people hate me for:
Forwood is actually a good ship and I wish it didn't have to go down like that, at the expense of Caroline's character.
I ship Klaroline; but Klaus was toxic. I could only ever see this ship becoming endgame if Klaus redeemed himself first.
Caroline had chemistry with everyone except Stefan.
Bamon had potential (and it was literally in the books). If they had come up with a "I had my humanity off" plotline it would have made the ship work🤷🏻‍♀️
Bonezo is a good ship and is clearly less toxic than Bamon; but it only happened to please racist dullena fans that complained about Bamon's romantic implications(even if it happened in the books)
Caroline, Katherine, Bonnie, & Stefan are the most interesting characters of TVD
Jeremy & Anna were cute IDK🤷🏻‍♀️
Matt did not deserve the hate. His feelings were valid. All his friends were killers and he was an abandoned, heartbroken boy, whose mom was a drunk and pedophile, and his only sister & family was killed by the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend who he loved alot, just cause he decided he was bored. He remained loyal & brave to his friends and they didn't account for their murders and killings & stopped caring for the innocent.
Alaric was not a bad father and teacher. Even if he had his slip-ups he was actually an interesting & good character.
Damon is way too defended In this fandom. People should like the character and not defend the wrongs?! Just how many women has he compelled to sleep with him and to let him drink their blood? And what about what he did to Aaron whitmore? He slaughtered entire families of Innocents even while dating Elena. So all that "sHe mAkEs hiM bEtTeR" crap, is not valid. You can like Ian's acting and the smugness of his character, & like the character for those reasons, without defending the terrible acts of the character.
Delena was a horrible ship. The only reason it's popular is due to the shallow fact that people see Ian as more handsome than Paul. The ship only has good chemistry and looks. Beyond that, there is nothing.
Stefan is still the better man. (Fried humanity/off humanity Stefan don't count just as it goes for all the other vampires) Gaslighting writing through the other characters won't change that(Nice try, Julie P)🤷🏻‍♀️
Alaric and Jo were really cute together. I don't care. They made epic twins together.
Elena is overloved; but overhated at the same time. It's annoying. Just love the kind human girl that she used to be and hate the vicious, selfish girl she became, without hating her for breathing. That simple.
Klelijah(Katherine x Elijah) is not a good ship. Katherine loved stefan. She was only using Elijah to survive, and back then she only pitied him. Elijah also only was with her because of what he did to Tatia
Katherine did deserve better though, even if she did bad things. Making her the biggest/& ultimate devil and pretending there wasn't any good in her was incredibly misogynistic. Like Damon & Klaus did worse things and they get happy lives and good character ends? Like No! Horrible! Katherine's core was a scared little girl who wanted to live a normal human life while still being powerful and beautiful. She was chased for 500 years, had to see her entire family slaughtered, lost a baby because of misogynistic expectations, found her again, just to see her last family die again. Did she do horrible things? Yes; all to survive. But she also saved Jeremy, Damon, Stefan, encouraged Elena to be honest about what she felt for Damon even when she didn't have to.
Caroline did annoying things; but overall she was an interesting character. And she was way too smart and strong as a vampire. I loved seeing it.
Bonnie deserved so much more than the show gave her. I hope she gets her own show one day. A show about witches would be pretty lit.
Rebecca could have tried harder to be kinder and less evil. I get she had centuries of habits she needed to break but still. (Elena stabbing her in the back was still shit though)
Klaus was evil to his default and was an abuser to his family. I'm glad he changed/died for hope; but still I would have been nice if there were other factors to this action.
They shouldn't have thrown away the good of Elijah Mikalson. He didn't deserve that. The way they also tried to pull a Stefan on him.
Haylijah was a cute ship🤷🏻‍♀️
Esther wasn't wrong about her children being evil as vampires. And what she wanted to do with them was have them live as humans.
What the originals did to Marcel was fucked up
What the originals did to Davina was cruel
I wish we could have seen more of the witch that played "the hollow".
Glamorizing Hope's evil side is not "a flex". Again, like the character & actor art; but not the vicious actions.
Hosie should have been canon
That random new original sister was so unnecessary.
Kolvina is the most interesting ship of the entire TVDverse I wish there was more of them
All TVD ships were good I just find: Steroline, Delena, & Klamille to be cringe. Steroline only happened to compensate Forwood/& Klaroline and justify Delena. And Delena only happened because of looks and the love story was trash. Klamille was also a compensation ship to Klaroline so yeah, cringe.
TVD writing, lore, acting, cinematography,. directing is all a 10. The only thing that is trash is the ending and all the romantic entanglement the show had.
Warning: This isn't to start an agree to disagree party. This post is just so that those that agree with me can high-five with me. If you disagree, don't even bother commenting on this post. Everything is a matter of perception & perspective. I'm just sharing mine, while venting. By jumping on this post to fight with me you are immediately self-labeling yourself as entitled. Everyone has their own opinions bestie so don't even.

I feel people talk a lot about Klamille, Klaroline and Klayley and completely ignore the influence Aurora had over Klaus.
Now, I don't really like any of the main ships of Klaus: Candice herself confirmed in a live no long ago that the producers started writing the whole Klaroline ship because the reaction of the fans to their first scene (which they didn't intend to turn romantic) was massive and positive, so their whole relationship was fan service from beginning to end. I like Klamille, but the fact that she was her therapist and they fell in love always creeped me out. And Klayley, well, they weren't even a couple but I feel that the potential was there.
But Klaurora? They fell in love in a time where neither of them were pure evil, and Klaus had been literally turned into a vampire two years before. And she wasn't "crazy", as people try to make her look: she was just bipolar, in a time where help was nowhere to be found. And Tristan just made that worse through their lives as vampires.
Now, this is my personal opinion, one I made by watching the show, you don't have to agree with it at all. Personally, I don't think Klaus and Caroline were in love with each other (not Caroline, unless she was playing hard to get in which case go girl ig), at least not in the Mystic Falls era. In New Orleans, however, they had both grown, and they seemed more comfortable in the other's presence (I still don't think they would have lasted as a couple, as I say in this post) so if they wanted to persue a romance then, go ahead.
But back to the point, Klaus was literally being an asshole in love talking about the smell of Aurora's hair and writing love letters to her: he was down bad for the woman, and it's canon that her breaking his heart is what made him the ruthless and abusive bitch we all know in canon ("you knew that your secret betrayal was the cause of everything i became" 3x05, said by Klaus to Elijah in a rather hypocrite fight).
And it's not like he got over her as his life continued: he painted her, eight hundred years after their breakup, and judging by the fact he said it became the tomb of his memories of her, he probably painted her a thousand of times before. When he showered her that painting, a millennium later, he confessed that thinking he could forget her is one of his biggest mistakes, meaning that while he was flirting with Cami and Care he still hadn't gotten over his first love. And with the way he was looking at her, I doubt it was a lie.
And they literally started being together again not even a day after she showed up in New Orleans. He didn't give a damn about Camille, or Caroline. His "however long it takes" or his "I would have found you" were completely forgotten in his mind, his own sister was kidnapped by her and he couldn't care less because he was busy showing her New Orleans, something Lucien pointed out.
Elijah noticed as well, because the whole "Do you love her" wasn't directed towards Camille, and with the way Klaus answered his question it was clear. And Klaus also asked him to never say Aurora's name in his presence (I like to think that being the little shit he is Kol always said her name whenever he was around and that's why he got daggered so much, but that's a personal headcanon of mine).
Klaus only lashed out at her when he found out Rebekah was at the bottom of the ocean (Emma who lmao), not safe as Aurora had promised him after fucking. And he did say he intented to keep his love promises to her, made in the modern world, hence bye bye his two blonde lovers (also, the fact that they resemble Rebekah so much, his favorite sibling who he's always been obssesed with, it’s so fucking weird).
He didn't chose Camille or Caroline over her, Aurora pushed him to it and he seemed pretty upset about it in the whole episode of their dramatic breakup. And Camille did say more than once she believed Klaus still loved Aurora, something Klaus didn't actually deny (he said he didn't care about her, that's all.)
I know Klaus did love Camille, he did even after a decade of her death, and I know he was obssesed with Caroline, but I personally believe that the one he loved the most has always been Aurora.
Funny enough, in 3x18, after her murdering Camille, his actual love interest, turning her into a vampire, and trying to kill his whole family, he didn't even try to pull away when she leaned to kiss him. He could have tried to bite her, or to back away, but he didn't.
And don't even get me started on him keeping her alive even after the serum left her sistem. Klaus couldn't kill her, and he was clearly distraught when Hayley inyected her that serum to send her to sleep. This fucker couldn't kill her, and he needed his girlfriends to do it.
Anyways, ik this is a unpopular opinion, but I always found the messed up dynamic of Klaurora so entertaining to watch. Aurora loved him until her death, and I think he continued to love her until his as well, knowing how much of a obssesed yandere he is.
And try to ignore any grammatic mistakes lmao, I'm spanish and I was eating a donut writing this.

What do u think about the fans mainly fans of the originals who say that klaroline was just a hookup and that caroline never liked klaus/ klaus never loved her. I see this sentiment alot on reddit and its so frustrating.
I think people are allowed to have their own opinions and interpretations of the show. Personally I have no hard feelings towards fans who aren't into Klaroline. I have my own opinions, which are obviously very biased, so I think it's fair that people will have their own biased opinions favoring different characters/ships that are more convenient to them. That's really the thing with media in general, different people can look at the exact same thing and have completely different views, and I'm totally ok with that.
Having said that, MY opinion is that Klaroline denialists (lol) have to pointedly ignore/turn a blind eye to a lot of things in order to completely disregard it. 😂 There's a hell of a lot of evidence, even in the final season of The Originals. I like to pretend that s5 never happened too, but it's mostly because it's an awful piece of television writing of which the KC parts and that one episode that is completely focused on Elijah are the only parts that can be salvaged. 🥲
I think that kind of thing tends to come from a new wave of fans who have started their TVDverse journey through The Originals rather than TVD, although ship wars have been around since the dawn of time. If you have only ever seen TO, then I guess Klaroline really doesn't make any sense. Even the crossover episodes that feature KC, the KC bits are kept mostly in the TVD portion. She seems to come out of nowhere in S5. Both are equally canon, one isn't truer than the other, and you need both to get a bigger picture, but some people would rather stick to just one of them. And when you've seen TO first and gotten attached to a certain ship and then go back to watch TVD, you're obviously going to have a biased view over that because what you find there is obviously not going to suit your heart's desire. It happens the other way around too.
The way I see it, it's really hard to simply deny KC when you watch TVD tho. 😂 It takes a LOT of determination lol Klaus was a total puppy for Caroline, in ways he never was for anyone else, and even in the crossover episodes, he still acts the exact same way. And come on 'he's your first love, I intend to be your last, however long it takes?' 😂 If that's not a love declaration 🤷‍
As for Caroline not liking him, it's very complex. When we get down to 5x11 in TVD, and then to S5 of TO, it becomes obvious that he's always messed with her head and she had complicated feelings for him she never wanted to tap into. Which is perfectly understandable. Klaus was a villain in TVD. He killed Elena, he ruined Tyler's life, he ruined Stefan's life, tortured him, murdered Tyler in cold blood right in front of everyone to force them to find the way to make him a hybrid, caused all sorts of havoc all over her home town. Klaus was THE BAD GUY. That's a problem I have with TO that I think gets worse for people who only see that show or who see that show first and then go back to watch TVD: they seem to think Klaus is not that bad. He's just a bad boy with a bad attitude. They fall for that cheap conversation they try to sell with Cami's character, the ~~explainer, that he's just misunderstood and all he really needed was someone to be on his side. No! Klaus is AWFUL. He's killed thousands of people! He's a villain! And that's what makes him such a great character! He never needed redemption. It's way easier for people to find him redeemable when he's done nothing to personally attack them/destroy their lives, which is obviously not Caroline's case. She's seen the very worst of Klaus. He's threatened everyone she knows, including her. And Caroline is someone who, aside from having a very strong however biased moral code, is also INCREDIBLY loyal, so of course it's going to be way harder for her to forgive Klaus and forget about the terrible things he's done to just see that she's an exception for him.
What becomes clear throughout S4 of TVD (for me, at least) is that she was struggling with how she felt and in a lot of denial. A lot of the things she says to him ('people who do terrible things are just terrible people') are really things she's saying to herself. She gets mad at the fact she's obviously ~~drawn to the darkness, and so she lashes out (because, you know, she has a personality 🤷‍). 5x11 makes that very clear as well. She doesn't want Klaus around because he clouds her judgement and it makes her mad that she's probably afraid she's not gonna be able to resist him for much longer and that's only going to complicate her life further. Everyone around her makes her feel guilty for not hating Klaus, so of course she's going to feel reluctant. But when they they do meet again in S5 of TO they're both at a point of their lives where she's ok admitting that she always wanted him to prove to her that he could do better, and that she always knew he wasn't her villain, even if he never hesitated to hurt anyone else around her, she knew she was safe with him (hence why she drove to Nola after him with her kids). She doesn't want him to die, tries to stop him by telling Elijah, and the fact she goes to New Orleans to have a last day with him, having saved that message for years and across different iPhones, probably, tells us that she had, deep down, had hopes that some day, down the line, they'd find each other again. But then they do, and it's too late (and that's really the only part of that season that is written with a certain degree of poetry tbh).
All that to say, Klaus and Caroline were complicated and clashed a lot and that's part of what made it so compelling to me. There were genuine reasons why they shouldn't be together, they were virtually on opposing sides almost the whole time, and I love that about the ship. It forced Klaus to grow a conscience. He wasn't sorry for the things he did, he wasn't trying to become a better person, there was no one petting him on the back and saying 'poor you, misundertood boy'. He was confronted with the consequences of his actions, which is, for me, the best (or worst) thing that could happen to someone like Klaus, unlike with Cami, for instance, who was just there to excuse his bad behavior.
But like I said, my opinions are completely colored by the fact that I 100% support that ship. And the same way I look down on other ships because I can't stand them, I get that other people are going to look down on my otp as well and have wildly different opinions. It's a fandom, we're never going to agree on everything, and I'm totally cool with that. There's room for everyone. Unless they come directly to my doorstep to talk shit about it, it honestly doesn't bother me. I'm all for ship and let ship.
ANYWAY 😂 Sorry for the long ted talk nonnie, I RAMBLE a lot 🥲

for the choose violence asks let’s go with 1, 8, 14, 17, 21, 23, and 25!
the character everyone gets wrong
Caroline or rather how some interpretations turn her into a perfect girlboss.
She had some relatable flaws.
Being jealous of her friend and being in a one-sided competition with her. Not having a filter and letting the insensitive, socially unacceptable things come out of her mouth. She was downright harsh. Not being able to keep a secret.
The whole "being a vampire made her better" thing is strange to me. She was still wildly jealous. With Tyler and that random party girl. With Stefan later when she thinks he and Elena are getting along too well?
I think the only thing that changed with her character is that the telegraphing of those scenes are done in a way to make it seem like she's a boss when in reality, she is still that insecure girl. Which is understandable and relatable. How many of us have insecure moments?
common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
Some people act like the sire bond broke after Elena turned off her humanity and I think all that happened was she got a reprieve from it but every time we see her after she is tortured gets her humanity back is a moment when she's sired to Damon.
It's why she handles his death so differently than the other deaths she experiences. I think the sire bond was trying to drag her down with him.
that one thing you see in fics all the time
Reading mostly Klena, I see a lot of Klaus being obsessed with the bite mark he would have left on Elena and making him possessive over it.
there should be more of this type of fic/art
More rarepair art and fics! I honestly just love them. They aren't canon? Good. They barely had scenes together? Fantastic. They weren't even in the same show? Stellar.
On a real note, the thing I think I'm starting to pin down about my love of rarepairs is how creative you have to be to write them. There is no canon to follow. This is all from your own head and I eat it up.
part of canon you think is overhyped
Klaroline.
I just - don't really understand where the connection was supposed to come from. He put her life in danger to show Tyler the control he had over him and then heals her. And she's like "are you going to kill me" and he's upset that she thinks he'd be a monster on her birthday. And that made him like her?
Ultimately Caroline chose Stefan, the man she'd been pining for since the first episode despite his commitment to her friend and Klaus never really did much to pursue her. He wanted to be her last love but then just...meh?
It just seems people mostly like how those two actors look together and the chemistry they had. Which....the show is full of hot people. They all mostly had chemistry with each other.
ship you've unwillingly come around to
Forwood.
The vocalness of the KC fandom made me just want to turn my brain off for this but the more I think about it the more I like their early days. One of the rare friends to lovers ships that I enjoy. And I think a lot of it had to do with him being there for her with Matt and her being there for him with his supernatural journey.
They really could have been cute all the way through. Just a stable, supportive couple for the entirety of the series. I think it needed some stability in that way.
common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
Elena is a crybaby.
And so what if she does cry a lot? So what if any of the female presenting characters cry? What is it about women crying that makes us point to them and claim they are too "emotional" as if it is a bad thing but when a male character kills someone's friend or relative because he got rejected that isn't "too emotional".

DNI: TVD Edition
You think that Klaroline was the healthiest and most well-written relationship on the show
You think that Matt Donovan was the worst and most annoying character on the show
You say that Bonnie Bennett was unfairly treated but then have the audacity to say that Elena Gilbert, Katherine Pierce, Vicki Donovan and Hayley Marshall weren’t done dirty at all and deserved everything they got
Jeremy Gilbert was genuinely your favourite character
You think that Elijah Mikaelson was a noble and moral person just because he wears suits and talks down to anyone who doesn’t share his blood
You thought that Damon Salvatore’s horrible actions were justified because he stalked and obsessed over a girl who was clearly into his brother
You think that the Mikaelson’s ( mainly Klaus and Elijah’s ) cruelty was completely fine because they pUt FaMiLy fIrSt, when they constantly daggered each other and had an unhealthy obsession with their technically teenage sister’s love life
You think that Vicki Donovan, an extremely troubled young girl with bad family issues and a drug problem, deserved to die at the hands of a 160 year old monster because you found her problems annoying
You don’t think that Katherine Pierce deserved any sympathy, despite her enduring a borderline abusive father, having her child ripped away from her, being banished and sent to an unfamiliar country in disgrace, being taken advantage of by two men who then tried to murder her, having to be on the run for hundreds of years, falling in love with a man who she had to leave, being captured by hunters, having the man who once loved her fall in love with her doppelgänger, having the cure shoved down her throat, being hunted by a 2000 year old psycho, start the agonising process of quick aging, becoming suicidal and trying to jump off a clock tower, having her daughter die in her arms, going to hell whilst Klaus Mikaelson went to heaven and never having anyone truly care about her for an extended period of time unless they wanted to get in bed with her
You hate Elena Gilbert but stan one or both of the Salvatore brothers and/or Caroline Forbes
You think that Rebekah Mikaelson was whiny for wanting love outside of her toxic ass family
You think that post s4 Elena Gilbert was better than s1-s3 Elena Gilbert
You can’t tell the difference between disliking Tyler Lockwood because of his often pig-headed personality but still sympathising with him due to Klaus’ mistreatment of him and believing that his character had no flaws and that Forwood was a great ship with no issues whatsoever.
Hope you agree with at least some of these opinions, might do a part 2 as I have many more views on tvd.

Klaroline + driving
Caroline loves to drive.
When she turned sixteen, driving meant freedom - from her mother's tight schedule, from their lonely house, from Mystic Falls altogether. But she didn't love it then, it was a convenience to liven up her boring life.
Then she died, and a car seemed irrelevant to the powers that came with the whole vampire thing. Nothing could come close to the whoosh of air as she cut through the forest, let alone the contained environment of a sensible sedan. The other side of town hardly required the nuisance of finding her keys. A blink and a half, and she would be standing outside the Salvatore boarding house; she didn't even need to break a sweat.
World travel, though, gave her an appreciation for the mundane. For humans, slowing down and enjoying the simpler pleasures of just existing is reserved for retirement - the golden years, so to speak. She was seventeen and fifty-two, all at once, and she finally understood the power of moving in her own time. Public transportation was a thrill, not an impediment. Small talk, friendly silence, general peace, and good food when she made it to the cafe two hours later than she had planned.
Amazing what a few decades will do for a girl's patience.
But driving, that took another fifteen years (and a classic car Stefan had stashed away for her) to truly enjoy. She no longer minded her hair getting a bit messy with the windows down, and she didn't need a destination to enjoy the radio playing classics from her mother's childhood and the open road before her. When she returned stateside, she made a point of seeing the national parks and her friends' grandchildren, a road trip to end all road trips.
Then, she rolled into New Orleans, just to laugh at the derision on Klaus's face. "What is that grimace?" she had laughed, lifting her sunglasses to push back her windswept bangs. "You don't like the car?"
"That thing is a relic, it can't possibly be comfortable," he answered, squinting at the model. "Don't tell me there are still springs in the seat."
"Okay, I won't." Her smile hurt her cheeks as she leaned back against the cherry red door, arms crossed defiantly as he glanced her over, head to toe. "Hello, Klaus. Want to go for a drive?"
Because Caroline loves to drive, yes, but she might like Klaus complaining in her passenger seat even more. Between sneers and puppy eyes, he points out his favorite haunts and promises to show her all the city has to offer. With the roar of the engine and a Taylor Swift song drifting from the oldies station, all she can hear is the laughter Klaus fails to bite back at having her here. His eyes slip toward her like she might disappear any moment, and the tension feels warm as sunshine through her windshield.
Fingers thread through hers, covered with a near whine at the fumes following them. She only smiles and keeps her eyes on the road. Honestly, he can say whatever he wants about the car as long as he holds her hand over the gearshift.

headcanons for klaroline being endgame and lizzie josie and hope being sisters?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: I just want to carify this is far far away from any universe where I ship Hizzie or Hosie.
The Mikaelsons happily welcome the three newest members of their family.
Especially after seeing how happy Klaus was on his and Caroline’s wedding day.
Hayley and Caroline patch all the high school drama up and often invite each other to have drinks as they bond over how much of a handful Klaus can be.
Meanwhile Klaus and Alaric refuse to be within less than ten feet of each other.
But Klaus loves the twins like they're his own.
The twins just admire Hayley.
And Caroline assures Hope that she’s not trying to replace her mom.
Freya loves to help Josie with her magic.
She’s also the one to sit down with both her and Lizzie to talk about the merge when they’re old enough.
Rebekah thoroughly enjoys taking Lizzie shopping any chance she gets.
Partly because she loves hearing all the gossip and shit talking, especially about Dana.
Neither Hayley, Marcel, or the rest of the family mind looking after the girls when Klaus and Caroline are away.
Klaus has offered the twins their own rooms but they’re content with sharing.
The girls make for an interesting dynamic.
“Lizzie, I told you to stay out of my room!” Hope angrily barges into the twins’ room.
“I didn’t go into your stupid room.”
“Then how did my headphones go missing?”
“Sorry,” Josie says shyly, putting her book down. “I lost mine so I borrowed them.”
Hope definitely has a bit of a bias towards Josie.
They just get along easier.
On the other hand, she and Lizzie are always bickering and throwing remarks at each other.
And with the amount of peeple who’ve tried to come after Hope, Lizzie has definitely told her “I too find your existence annoying.”
Klaus wants to rush to every argument he hears but Caroline says that they need to work it out themselves.
Lizzie and Hope constantly throw the “you’re not my real sister” card at each other.
Until Hope accidentally takes it too far and says “And Caroline’s not even your real mom!” in front of Caroline and instantly regrets it.
Klaus scolds her for it and tells her to apologize.
Since Hope doesn’t rely on Alaric to fulfil a father figure role, his relationship with the twins is healthier.
But with them slowly spending more and more time in New Orleans, that mixed with his resentment towards Klaus, Alaric starts drinking.
Which Caroline finds out when the girls  get back and Lizzie  goes straight to her room without saying a single word.
“Dad’s drinking again,” Josie says before going to cuddle with her sister.
Klaus is ready to tear him a new one but Caroline beats him to it.
Then she files for full custody.
Hope tries to comfort them with ice cream but just ends up joining the cuddle session.
There’s one time where Klaus finds Lizzie in the aftermath of an episode and rushes to make sure she’s okay.
“Do you think I’m broken?”
His heart aches at the question, “If you’re broken then are a mosaic, your imperfections are what make you beautiful.”
And he later hangs up a mosaic above her bed.
That was their bonding moment.
For Klaus and Josie’s moment, it was after she went dark.
She isolates herself for a while until Klaus comes to comfort her.
And makes a joke about her still being  a saint on her worst day compared to Elijah on a good day.
Caroline and Rebekah bumping heads when it comes to planning events, like the twins’ birthday party.
Family vacations.
Klaus pushing for Hope to tag along on family excursions.
Klaus being equally over protective of the twins’ dating life.
Josie, as embarrassed as she may be, tries to get her partners to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Lizzie on the other hand decides that sneaking around is the better option.
Until she gets caught.
“You’ve been sneaking out?!” he says, catching her climbing out the window.
“And skipping class,” Hope chimes in.
Which leads Lizzie to bring up Roman to throw some heat off of her.

I got something for you, so I'm sure you're aware that one of the arguments KCers used was Klaus "picked" Caroline first. I remember back in S7 there was an itw with JP and she was talking about Caroline and the pilot and said something like "We've set her up that in a way she'll get picked first in the end" which was true, Stefan walked away from Damon. There was a KCer who commented and said "She was already picked first by Klaus but you never did anything with it." Even though Caroline grew way beyond that insecure girl we first saw, since the pilot was referenced KCers always left out one key component of that. Caroline said "How come the guys that I want never want me?" It wasn't about her just being "picked first", it was about her being picked first by the guy that she wants, there's a big difference.
I mean let's flip this around on someone else. We all know Katherine loved both brothers but when it came down to it her choice was Stefan, like she said "It was always Stefan." However, never did I hear anyone say Stefan should be with Katherine because he was her "first choice." I'm sorry but don't both Stefan and Caroline get a say in their love lives and who they want to be with? Why was it ok for Stefan to choose not to be with Katherine but it wasn't ok for Caroline to choose not to be with Klaus? Like seriously, how does that work? Like out here in the real world, there's people that I liked who didn't like me back and vice versa, that's life, it's about finding the person where you're right for each other. AKA Steroline!
Omg. I remember that argument. It was such a weak argument (there's a logical fallacy in there somewhere). "Caroline should be with Klaus because she was his first choice." Um . . . okay except Caroline's character growth is about not needing outside validation to feel good about herself. Caroline's character arc on the show is learning to feel confident and secure in her own worth. And by the time Klaus arrived in Mystic Falls, she was. She wasn't looking to be anyone's first choice because she wasn't insecure anymore. Season 4 Caroline is a different character than season 1 Caroline.
And your Klaroline/Stefarine comparison is a good one. I've always thought that the Klaus & Katherine parallels were deliberate, including their attraction (both romantic and platonic) to Stefan and Caroline. Yet, I don't ever recall anyone arguing that Stefarine should be together because Stefan was Katherine's first choice.
I don't begrudge anyone shipping Klaus and Caroline. To each their own, you know. But if someone is going to make an argument for a ship (and flood my inbox with it as many of them did when TVD aired) then at least pay attention to character development.

Besides Klaus trying to manipulate Caroline into sex by pretending to be Tyler, there's so much that he gets away with in the fandom. Like he compelled Camille to date Marcel and other things and went on to get involved with her, there was also a scene in season 5 of TO where I believe there were compelled women in his bed that weren't dressed and it's implied that he took advantage of them, and he had a creepy obsession with Rebekah's love life. There was a close up of Klaus's jealous face in 3x03 while she was dancing with Stefan, he frequently targeted her suitors in general, and she had to tell him he wasn't her boyfriend. He wasn't like that with his other sister. I feel that because the show was on the CW they didn't feel comfortable directly addressing it. Tristian and Aurora gave similar vibes. Klaroline and Klamille are so romanticized by Delena antis even though they're more toxic than Delena. Recently I came across multiple Delena antis/KC shippers who said Klaus stabbing Caroline with a lamp was justified because his brother was killed, he was being talked down to, etc and labelled it as angst. I've seen similar logic being excused for Stefan's abusive behavior, particularly towards Elena, saying he's not abusive to her because abuse is a pattern and labelled incidents like Wickery Bridge as just crossing a line.
Shippers will excuse anything just to justify their ship.
Klaus' anger is justified, but not the way in which he expressed it. They wanted to show his impulsivity, which is something he and Damon have in common. Difference is, Damon accepts his impulsivity and tries to rectify it. That's why he's only throwing one punch at Stefan in 4x12 and again in 5x20. An impulsive punch that doesn't go any further. Damon would never stab Elena with a lamp. Even when he had all of his feelings of Katherine pouring through in their 2x1 Delena scene, he went after Jeremy instead of Elena.
Stefan and Klaus are abusive. They can call it crossing the line all they want to, but it's still abuse. Stefan is extremely emotionally abusive to Elena. In 3x11, both physically and emotionally abusive.

Do you think levihan is canon?
Tumblr media
I’m guessing you’re not asking about my overall opinion on 139, so I’ll just leave it here as a Levihan opinion. I could probably do another rant about my overall opinion of the ending but probs another time.
And I have been meaning to make this meta for a while and I kinda wanted to wait for the last chapter cause for some crazy reason, I was a clown hoping that Levihan would just suddenly happen? Like maybe in the paths, she walks to him or something
But woop. We have to search again for the crumbs like we’re on some scavenger hunt.
And you know what? I like it this way. Thank you Yams for not butchering your characters over one ship. Thank you for portraying so realistically what romance between two mature adults with responsibilities is actually supposed to look like.
So yeah, before we go into it, I did go around asking about other ships and I realized, maybe we have been using the word ‘canon’ incorrectly. Or so, that’s the first thing I thought.
I had a conversation with my sister a few days back (who hates Levihan if it isn’t obvious), and she used to be an avid Klaroline shipper back in the day (The Vampire Diaries), and she explained that a the fandom actually don’t see Klaroline as a canon couple even if they were teased throughout the show (fucked, kissed and everything in between) since it isn’t end game.
So to lay out my terms here and just be incredibly clear about it. I consider Levihan canon, but I do not consider them end game because they obviously aren’t, 132 happened and Hange didn’t come back..
So what do i mean by canon?
There are lots of nuances here to consider when we call them canon.
For one, fandoms wait for the couple to be ‘official’ kiss and all. Other fandoms wait for the end before they say it, because no matter how many times two characters fuck, kiss and declare their undying love, if they don’t commit, if they don’t make it to the end, then it’s not canon.
When I say Levihan is canon, I clearly mean,  even if they didn’t end up together, they probably could have still been in a relationship, they probably could have still been in love. They probably actually held a stronger and much more nuanced bond than whatever main couple we watch in some sappy romantic drama.
And maybe they actually did fall in love behind closed doors? Maybe they meta-ed their own relationship together and maybe they’ve discussed it and maybe they were aware. ( have a meta about it here)
But here’s the thing, we’ll never know, because in Season 4, after A LOT of the development of their relationship could have been implied, Levi and Hange were separated from each other so we actually didn’t get a lot of scenes of them closely together until 115, 126 etc.
And here is the part where people call me delusional? Because people who invalidate our ship like to do that.
Because yes.. They’re just ultra mega besties.
AND I GET SO FRUSTRATED AT THIS TAKE. LIKE SINCE WHEN HAS ROMANCE EVER RUINED FRIENDSHIPS?
It doesn’t make any sense??? Like I have no idea how people are having relationships when the first they think when they get into a relationship is “I don’t wanna ruin this friendship,”
I get confessing and rejecting can ruin a relationship but getting into a relationship? How does that ruin a friendship.
I’m sorry I know that is such a trope but like yo, half the time when people ask about me and my boyfriend (who started of as bestfriends) WE GOT INTO THIS RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE WE WANTED TO BE ‘BESTIES’ IN OTHER DIMENSIONS AS WELL.
AND WE WANTED TO BE SUPER ULTRA MEGA BESTIES (lovers in short).
It is inevitable that you will be best friends with your partner. Yo, if your partner aint one of your besties or one of your most trusted confidants, you might wanna... you know, reevaluate your relationship???
There are so many layers to love than just kiss kiss smooch a
Like, I’m incredibly choosy with romance ships like if people noticed, I only ever have written this much for Levihan.
And one main reason for this really is because writers have a tendency of messing with a story, doing things that don’t make sense so the couple that is slated to get together, actually ends up together.
And the development never seemed natural half the time? Because some writers are just obsessed with making their pair happen. And what do they do after? They put them into so much drama which makes me question the overall health of the relationship.
nd I dunno, media is probably messing with this perspective of love by saying obviously problematic relationships are canon. So yeah even if he punched his girlfriend ONCE, and even if she cheated on him ONCE, they probably still loved each other so they’re canon lmao.
And call me a puritan here or something but there are certain things people do in a relationship and when it happens I will just sit there and say, that ain’t love, do you guys even love each other?
And sorry I’m probably that asshole friend who would probably hate your toxic partner and will probably just tell you I’m not showing up to your wedding if I don’t like your partner.
I will not condone cheating AT ALL. I personally do not want to consider ‘canon’ any relationship where two people cheat on each other. I personally do not wanna consider ‘canon’ a relationship that thrives on miscommunication issues either because I dunno if I just got into the wrong relationship or something? But like at the age of 24, we actually talk stuff out
Like woah, there are couples who don’t talk things out? Like what do you do when you’re stuck with each other 24/7? NOt TALK?
I will consider canon any ship that runs on implicit trust, this belief that they should be constantly there with each other. Because that’s what love is. That’s what a relationship is and I’m gonna live my whole life believing that these are the only things that make up love for me.
Love is trust. Love is a strong bond. Love is just two people giving and taking and sacrificing for each other. And Love is this commitment to make something work with the other person.
And if it isn’t any of the things above, ‘sorry for invalidating’ but it ain’t love and by extension, it ain’t canon for me.
Tbh, I think that’s the reason Levihan has been incredibly uneventful relationship wise actually made it so much for me that I thought they were pretty much canon. I still have issues with how Eremika was pulled off even if they were blatantly canon and had more than enough blatant crumbs.
Because sure Eren and Mikasa did love each other but I guess their relationship was just so problematic since the start that even I was like ‘do you guys really love each other?’ half the time and I was constantly thinking about Mikasa’s mental health there like yo, why you so obsessed with him. There’s literally a Jean there who would probably treat you 124543x better,
But for Levi and Hange we had parallels with Eremika. And we had crumbs
With putting his crumbs for Levihan, from the airplane, unrequited titan love, let’s live together, Hange’s longing face and the Levi’s dedicate your heart and the fact that HANGE NEVER LEFT HIS SIDE UNTIL THEY DIED, come on, I don’t know what people aren’t seeing.
But the point is, (Okay understandable since Levi and Hange are older), Personally I just believe Levi and Hange approached their relationship more like mature adults than hormonal teenagers. Like so sorry, they decided to approach their relationship like adults instead of some teenager who bird poops on any guy who tries to cheat on Mikasa.
Here’s the thing, Hange probably never would have complained like Eren. I honestly believe it was totally in character for her to just look down on him longingly from the paths. And I personally believed Levi had approached their relationship with a kind of acceptance like ‘ ay yo, we’re too busy for this but maybe after the war?’ that’s why even towards the end, the only way he lets himself be reminded of her was through watching the airplane and thinking of her. *fudge I’m tearing up*
I guess the fact that they really approached this relationship and this bond like how they’re characters were supposed to, the fact that they threw everything away for the sake of the war. Yet the fact that we saw ALL THIS CRUMBS that there could have been something more if they just weren’t captain and commander in the middle of the war, just makes this so fucking canon to me.
I would probably be speculative if we just had 115? Or maybe just 126? Or maybe just 132? But the thing is, the crumbs never stopped coming. There were so many things Yams could have CHOSEN not to do. But he did everything so deliberately from ‘let’s live together’ to ‘unrequited love’ to the Eremika parallels.
Did he have to draw that airplane in the air and Levi making eye contact with Onyakopon? Okay I wonder why he did that? Cause really what connects Levi to Onyakopon? WHAT PLANE SCENE CONNECTS LEVI TO ONYAKOPON?
I dunno man, but really at this point, this is so canon. Like sure Eremika takes the cake for most blatantly canon.
But given the terms I’ve stated above for what I believe romance, love, relationships and canon is for me.
Levihan is canon and it probably is the most canon relationship for me. Because the blatant lack of drama in the portrayal of their relationship for me just proves, Levi and Hange were very sure about their relationship with the other, I could probably say they were the two surest people in love in the whole damn show.
THEY JUST COULDN’T GET TOGETHER BECAUSE OF CIRCUMSTANCES. (WHICH MAKES THEM ALL THE MORE ADMIRABLE ANYWAY)
So thanks for reading and sorry about this major ass rant.

5 writing updates & links!
For the night crowd, Trial of Fate is live! (Also, it features my first smut scene, so please be gentle!)
Summary:
You’ve been casually sleeping with one of your bosses. It’s never been anything more than a fling between the both of you, until you end up pregnant, and everything changes. Dancer!Reader x MobBoss!Boba. I *THINK* this will be a one-shot but that honestly will depend on my plot bunny. (Takes place in the same universe as Hand of Fate but can be read as a standalone.)
Preview:
Your entire life flashes before your eyes when the two pink lines appear on the test.
Pregnant.
Kriffing hell.
You’ve been so goddamn careful. Always making sure you used multiple forms of protection. You’re already on birth control, but you always had him use condoms just in case and you followed through with Plan B the following morning.
Fuck.
At least you know the father doesn’t want anything to do with the – your – baby.
But… that leaves you with two dilemmas. One, what you’re going to do. And two, how you’re going to keep this from him.
Especially considering that he’s one of your bosses and he’s also one of the most powerful men in the city.
Boba Fett.
A Love Like This chapter 7 (omega!Reader x alpha!Din)
Summary:
“…if you’re going to kill me, please make it quick.”
It’s like pain shooting up his spine, and as your words echo loudly in the silence and he’s forced to contemplate the idea of you not being there, the final pieces slide into place.
He inhales sharply, and before he can help himself, he drops to his knees as he whispers,
“Mate.”
Preview:
You run.
The moment the airship docked, the moment you noticed that no one had eyes on you, your survival instincts took over and you slipped on a dark nondescript cloak and made your way for the back ramp.
Getting off the ship is easier than you expected, and no one pays you any mind as you leave, but the fear curling in your belly urges you on and forces you to ignore the hunger pangs.
xxx
Your owner (ex-owner?) hadn’t been the worst owner you could have had. It had truly been an amiable couple years. He hadn’t been truly kind but you were provided for – you always had food in your belly and a warm place to sleep and occasionally small trinkets that were gifted to you – and that was all you could have asked for. But then he met his mate, who turned out to be a jealous and vindictive woman. She punished you for your very existence in her life, and she finally presented him with an ultimatum: her and their future offspring, or you.
You hadn’t been surprised by his choice – after all, children could only be born of a true mate union.
You had been sent to a slave market, and the moment it was decided, you stopped being provided for. You found yourself scrounging for scraps of leftover food, drank tepid water from the faucet, and gathered whatever shreds of cloth you could hunker down with for the evenings.
xxx
You swear you hear shouts behind you, and you run faster. You’re not sure if they’re talking about you, but you can’t take any chances.
You aren’t even sure where you are. You don’t even know what planet you’re on. All you know is that you have to run.
Day turns to dusk as you round corners and duck around equipment, droids, and other airships. Panic starts to set in as you try to find a place to hide for the night.
Just one night, you tell yourself. You’ll give yourself one night to rest, and then you’ll figure out the rest of your escape.
I Don’t Want Easy chapter 2 (Klaroline AU, Carenzo brotp)
Summary:  “How do you think she felt, finding out from someone else? She’s someone who believes in actions over words, and your actions told her that you didn’t think she was worth it. So of course she walked away, because she deserves better.” Four years later, Klaus and Caroline are reunited in NOLA under unexpected circumstances.
Preview:
The news caught her by surprise.
The cold smile on Tyler’s lips and the taunting in his voice as he revealed, “Oh, Klaus didn’t tell you? Hayley’s pregnant, with his baby. They’re setting up house in New Orleans and they’ll be one big happy family. I guess all his promises to you were lies after all, hmmm? You were just another game to him, and you fell for it. You were always so naïve, Caroline. You’re pathetic.”
Tears sprang to her eyes at the unexpected pain that burned through her heart. She remembered reeling from the hurt and the surprise feeling of betrayal.
She didn’t have a response at the time, but the memory of Tyler’s cruelty would be seared in her mind forever.
Thankfully, Enzo had been with her at the time, and the Augustine vampire had no compulsions about punching Tyler square in the jaw and snarling at him to leave.
Caroline barely had time to process the news before she received some of her own.
After she started throwing up and feeling nauseous, Bonnie took a blood sample to conduct some magical tests with. Bonnie had been confused at first by the results, but then Stefan’s friend Valerie shared some insight into their situation.
Apparently, when Jo was dying, the Gemini Coven collectively cast a spell to save the babies by magically transporting them into the closest available womb at the time.
That womb had belonged to Caroline.
She was pregnant.
Watch Your Step Therapy AU 2: Pictures of You (inspired by WYS by @charnelhouse)
Summary:  She had a life before all this. One day, while Faire is in therapy, the boys decide to check out her old house. They learn a lot about her.
Preview:
If anyone (mainly Z) asks, it was Frankie’s idea. Technically, it was Benny’s idea, but they blame it on Frankie because they know that Z has a soft spot for him and can’t be too upset with him.
The house itself is nothing spectacular. It’s old and run down. It looks like someone attempted to clean the place up, as evidenced by the half-started projects littering the place.
It’s easy enough for them to break in, or rather, to simply walk in. The front door is unlocked.
The kitchen countertop is littered with empty bottles of booze. They find pills and drugs haphazardly stashed throughout the house. There’s broken glass littering the walls.
But then.
But then, when they pass the threshold of the kitchen and dining table, everything changes.
Hand of Fate part 4 (server!Reader x mobboss!Din)
Summary:  You are a server at the exclusive Palace nightclub, run by best friends and mob co-bosses Mando and Boba Fett. Life is relatively normal until you accidentally save your bosses and catch the attention of the very people you’ve been trying to avoid. Mob AU inspired by other mob AUs.
Preview:
Despite the Palace nightclub being mob territory of the Mandalorians and run by your bosses, you have never felt unsafe the way you do tonight. Although you have never met said bosses, they ensure that there is constant security throughout the building, keeping the staff safe and keeping the patrons from getting too rowdy. You’ve only been groped once, by a clearly drunk man, and before you could blink, a security guard grabbed the man and escorted him out, only pausing to give you a nod of acknowledgement before they disappeared out of sight.
You can’t quite put your finger on it. You’re just a server, and the job came recommended by a friend from your college days. You interviewed with a pair of gorgeous women, Fennec Shand and Cara Dune, who each represented one of your mysterious bosses, and they were more interested in your ability to do your job than anything else. They hired you on the spot, and that was 6 months ago. The pay is fantastic and the tips are better. You work five nights a week at the Palace, and on your off days you curl up in your apartment catching up on new books or TV shows.
The only thing that would make this better would be if you didn’t have to wear such kriffing high heels, no matter how cute they are. Thankfully, you only have to wear the heels on the weekends, and you can wear more comfortable shoes throughout the week. All the girls wear the same uniform – a gorgeous deep olive corset top with a silver halter strap and tight black shorts with fishnet leggings. When the weather is colder, you are allowed to wear tight leather pants instead.
The Palace has a specific dress code, one that is followed by both staff and patrons. For the sake of anonymity, everyone wears a mask that must cover at least half their face. You and the girls wear gorgeous black lacey masks that cover the top half of your faces and tie behind your head with soft ribbons. They’re actually quite comfortable to wear. The security guards wear solid black masks in a simple design.
But tonight… tonight feels off. You’re not sure if it’s the way it feels like certain people are watching you intensely. That’s not new, but there’s something… different about it. All you know is that you’ve never felt this way in the 6 months that you’ve worked for the Palace, and it is deeply unsettling.
I’m going to crawl into bed now and pass out, but thanks so much for all your patience! <3

What makes you think Klaus and Caroline are soulmates? At least one thing that makes you look at them and say… “yess, this is the ship!”
Tumblr media
Soulmates is a big word, anon. 🤣 I wouldn't go as far as to say that, I don't think that's a thing in the TVDu. I personally don't see any of them as soulmates. Love soulmates Aus, but thats not something I consider in terms of canon. But I still think they're the ship!
I think they bring out the best in each other. Literally, and in a very honest, non-romanticized way. People around Klaus either treats him like he's the beast of the apocalypse or like he's a manchild who needs to be handled with care, poor him. Caroline is one of very few people around him (Marcel being the other one, maybe) who seems to get that he's neither. She's extremely honest with him, holds him accountable for his BS, doesn't just excuse his behavior because his father was a monster, or his mother didn't love him, or he has too much man-pain to act rationally. And I think in doing so, she genuinely gets Klaus to act in a more conscious way. Which is not the same as thinking deep down he's a good person, or expecting him to change. It's just genuinely making him more aware of consequences.
It's why the only times he's ever genuinely merciful, forgiving and even selfless, it's for Caroline's sake (and Hope's, but that's kind of basic). When he lets Tyler go (all the 100 million times, even after he shows up in Nola ready to kill Hayley and the baby), when he regrets ("regrets") the way he impulsively murdered Carol, when he jeopardizes his plans to save her while he was in Tyler's body, when he helps Stefan at great personal risk. He's also weirdly respectful of Caroline's decisions in ways no one else is. The ball is constantly in her court, he never pushes further than she's willing to give, waits for her to make every move. For someone like Klaus, as impulsive, controlling and obsessive as him, that's a lot. No one else on that show is ever interested in what Caroline wants, what she needs. Not her friends, or her boyfriends.
And what I think Klaus does for Caroline, is that he brings forward sides of her we had never seen before. He gives Caroline a kind of agency she didn't have in her previous relationships, where she basically just molded herself to her boyfriends' needs (which happens again with Stefan to an extreme length). While everyone rolls their eyes at her and goes 'Oh, Caroline…', never truly taking her seriously, Klaus sees how strong and loyal she is, how capable, how smart. He admires how incredible she is as a vampire, how completely comfortable in her skin she is, while everyone around her is plagued by this stupid self-loathing that makes her feel as though she should be ashamed of being a vampire just because everyone else is. The fact Stefan becomes a human and seh stays a vampire when they marry is just ridiculous tbh. I think Klaus brings forth certain aspects of Caroline's aspects - someone who longs to see the world, who wants more than just a small life in Mystic Falls, who seeks adventure and wants to explore every aspect of her immortality, which I think that Silas moment really spells out - that were just READY to be explored on the show, if only they hadn't decided to push for that stupid relationship with Stefan that sent all of her development down the drain.
And he's just so soft for Caroline it's impossible to resist. He makes no mystery about how he just puts her first, how much he relishes every ounce of attention he gets from her, how he chases her like he didn't chase anyone else. He asks her out on a date, for God's sake. lol I mean, more than once, technically.
So, basically, Klaus valued her in ways no one else did because he genuinely appreciated her exactly as she was, while Caroline's unflinching honesty made Klaus more self-aware and conscientious. Caroline sees the very worst of Klaus, but she also gets to see the very best.
As a viewer, I loved Klaroline right from the start because I liked Caroline and thought she was very unfairly judged by the rest of the characters on the show, so when someone showed up who seemed to see her exactly as I did, I was ready to jump in. There's a lot of denial there, a lit hypocrisy too, but that all gets slowly unraveled, and it adds to how complex their dynamic is, which is something I personally enjoy a lot. It's not just 'and they fell in love because yes, the end' which we get to see repeated over and over on the show, when we're told two characters like each other, but there's really nothing there to back that up. Their chemistry is instantaneous, but it's not just that. There's so much to be explored, and I think the show was very clearly building up to something great (the slow burn was really well done there).
IN CONCLUSION. I love them because they are perfect and no other ship in the TVDu compares. Sorry, I make the rules. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. 🤣

Hi, I see the kc stans quoting the "I intended to be your last love", as if it were a statement that their ship are destined, but analyzing this quote, doesn't seems so romantic for me, Klaus was always possessive, and this quote doesn't seem reciprocal, in any moment he says that she will be his last love, or she will be in his heart, it's just about him having the control of her feelings, as if she would be stucked in him, while he's living his life meeting other women. What do you think?
The short answer.
I don't like the "however long it takes" part, it makes it sound like he's going to wear her down over time. I don't find Klaus "allowing" Tyler to come back to Mystic Falls to be romantic in the slightest. Especially since 1. Klaus was the reason Tyler wasn't able to be around Caroline in the first place. 2. Caroline begged Klaus for 1.5 seasons to stop terrorizing Tyler (and her friends). He only did it then because he was going to New Orleans to deal with more important things anyway. Where's the "sacrifice" in that? He's solving a "problem" he created in the first place. I also agree about control being a constant theme in klaroline's dynamic, but it wasn't done well. Like all of kc, it's surface level. Caroline couldn't truly love Klaus and vice versa because of the power imbalance, and to me he did not truly respect her as a person. He's also never held accountable or learns from his actions.
Aside from that, kcers like to use it as a gotcha to say "no matter what ship comes kc will be last because Klaus said so" but again, Klaus said this, left MF, and only returned to be satisfied with Caroline admitting her attraction, then they caught splinters together, and returned to New Orleans after promising he'd never come back so??? Even if anyone thought he was serious about that promise and thought it was romantic Klaus of his own volition didn't keep it. That's how convicted he was about his own intentions. He was fine with throwing themout the window as long as he got Caroline to finally admit her attraction to him because THAT'S what kc was about. The control, the "conquest". In the very next TO episode, Klaus is jealous of Cami allowing Marcel to feed from her. Kc is so narratively inconsequential it's embarrassing. But shippers ignore Klaus telling Cami he loves her, needs her, and that no matter what they would have met, and calling her his soulmate, AND saying he'd carry her with him always and he'd join her in the afterlife. SO EVEN IF later in Klaus' life he's with Caroline and he's her last love, you now canonically have it that Klaus is carrying Cami around. It's also hilarious because we have scenes in s4 of him making good on his promise to about carrying Cami, and before season 5 we got 2 mentions of Caroline on TO. And even in the series finale, in a deleted scene, Klaus brings Caroline to the spot he met Cami and talks about her, which goes to show how he would carry her while "with" Caroline. It's all just pathetic and laughable.

Pirates of the Caribbean fusion edit & drabble for Klaroline AU Season, 2021 Week Seven: Fusions @klaroline-event
Klaroline ft. Ensemble Cast in... PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: HYMN OF THE HIGH SEAS 🌊
"The only thing that owns a pirate is the sea, but there is good reason as to why Davy Jones tossed his heart in a chest and lost it to the ocean depths."
In retrospect, merging crews with Captain Niklaus Mikaelson was a desperate move, but you know what they say about desperate times...
Somewhere in the Caribbean, circa 1736
Caroline lived a relatively quiet life until she discovered she was the infamous pirate William Kidd's daughter.
It had slipped out in a screaming match between her and her mother when she vehemently refused to be married off to Sir Tyler Lockwood in exchange for not losing a parcel of unarable land their family held for generations.
The man was a known salacious brute that was as taken with harlots as he was gambling. Once he set his sights on Caroline, noble enough to protect his reputation, he claimed he would stop at nothing to have her hand.
But nothing came without a price. When the taxes rose too high for them to pay, it was clear he had enlisted his father, taxman Richard Lockwood, to ensure this debt and came to them with a deal: if she said the vows, she would save the land.
The land was worthless, and Caroline would not simply up and throw away her life if it would not help what was left of her family. However, Elizabeth was desperate for money. She believed she could sell and deliver them from hardships, having been a single mother for the past eighteen years.
Her reddened face crumpled with anger when she hastily flung the rebuttal, "Then leave my household and become a pirate like your worthless father!" The silence between hem was deafening. Seeing no other choice for her fate, Caroline did leave, of course—only after she gleaned the full story from her reluctant mother.
In a way, Caroline wasn't too surprised. She always knew her absentee father must be some sort of scoundrel, and the high seas had always called to her with a whispered promise of freedom and adventure rolling in their turquoise waves.
Perhaps it's because there was salt water in her blood.
With no more than the clothes on her back and her old gray mare, Caroline roamed from city to city, doing random work like chores and housekeeping for pay until she gathered up enough money to leave the country.
How she landed in Port Royale, she still didn't know.
The bawdy city was comprised solely of colorful characters, loud noises, cheap liquor, dirty pastimes, and general debauchery, and for some reason, it made her feel alive. It flooded her senses as she realized there was so much of the world she hadn't seen.
As a barmaid, working by the sea only enticed her further to set sail and see for herself what kept her father from coming home to them all these years. Every day she passed by those waters, the sun on her shoulders and salt in the air, and she simply wondered as she stared out into that distant horizon. Maybe there was a piece of herself out there that she needed to find.
Somewhere in the middle of grappling with this existential dilemma, fate stepped in and Caroline met Katherine.
A comparatively upscale brothel ran across the street from Caroline's bar, hosting the nighttime company of all sorts of unsavory fellows, and she often witnessed a striking brunette coming and going at irregular hours.
Imagine her surprise when the woman came in and unceremoniously draped herself across the bartop, groaning in misery about her day.
Now Caroline was no stranger to listening to customers commiserate over a pint, but when she raised her head Caroline saw hues of purple and blue littering her olive skin, and she promptly pulled up a chair.
Katherine had migrated here several months ago, and after establishing her independence, she took up the job just to make ends meet. Caroline thought she would have been similar to the women Tyler thought irresistible, but one thing was clear: this woman could chew him up and spit him out before most people woke up for breakfast, and she unwittingly gained Caroline's respect.
There had been a tussle when a customer became too handsy after Katherine's insistence that she was on break, and as liquor obliterated his inhibitions, the man got rougher, angrier. Katherine was forced to defend herself and used a couple of quick moves that left him sprawled on the floor. That's all her boss caught of the scene and he warned Katherine that he would not tolerate a second impertinence.
She was miserable, and when Caroline divulged a little about her background, Katherine jumped at the chance of setting sail and never looking back.
She leaned forward and whispered the rumors swirling around this seaside hotspot for pirates and common criminals, revealing that William Kidd actually used to hunt pirates before he decided a pirate’s life was for him, too.
And how was she ever going to know what the world was like if she never left this armpit of human civilization? Katherine pointed out.
Before Caroline could protest or bring up her concerns, Katherine merrily strolled back across the street and quit her job.
Caroline begrudgingly took her up on the idea and was secretly excited to start this adventure. The two lived off of Caroline's meager tips as they formed a plan; it meant for nights of hungry bellies and too-visible ribs, but they made it work. (Caroline also found out that Katherine made a shockingly crafty pickpocket.)
The plan was to capitalize on the fine offerings right here in Port Royale and leverage their assets before setting sail to destination paradise.
After all, every pirate needed a ship and a crew.
Katherine was more than adept at rooting out the city's underground businesses, and finding the gambling houses was easy enough. More challenging was teaching Caroline to be a stealthy devil at cards (a common pastime from days at the brothel) and targeting a former regular of Katherine's, one of her wealthiest clients took a significant level of tact and discretion.
Caroline's stone-cold expression never broke until she beat retired privateer Alaric Saltzman, in a game, and she proudly flashed a victorious smile, much to the drunkard's grumbling dismay.
The girls' jaws dropped when they saw how vast the ship actually was, waiting for them at the docks as merchants coasted right by pandering goods. Caroline gave a loving kiss goodbye to her gray mare as she traded her for enough money and supplies to get them started.
That glorious first night, they slept on the deck under the stars before they hoisted the sails.
Katherine had exhausted herself dancing around until she was dizzy, placing a giant black pirate had she bought at the street market atop Caroline's blonde halo of hair, crowning her the captain before breaking off into a horribly off-key rendition of "O Captain, I Think I'm Madly In Love!"
With a faint smile, Caroline merely watched the moon hover above them, enjoying its gentle glow and listening to Katherine's quiet snores before dozing off as well.
It was remarkable just how satisfied Caroline felt at the helm of her ship.
They went on their way and collected a healthy amount of crewmates along their way, a collection of wayward souls looking for a new chapter in life. They indeed were a ragtag group of people, all with different backgrounds and reasons for why they chose to come aboard.
Katherine was happy to claim her stake as Quartermaster and enjoyed overseeing the daily operations. Of the rest, a few stood out to Caroline.
The puckish Lorenzo made for a fantastic Sailing Master and a rather delightful cook. Their lookout, Lukas, was jovial, and their Master Gunner, Olivia, was cutthroat in a way that you would never expect the two to be twins. The even-keeled Meredith came aboard as their surgeon and patched up the other guys when their friendly duels became too unruly.
Hearing rumors of valuable treasures and gems abounding in Tortuga, they decided to sail north and find a port. Instead of chests filled with gold trinkets, they found a rather unique treasure by the name of Bonnie.
The girl's bloodcurdling screams rang through the evening air, audible even as their ship was a considerable distance away from the docks.
Strapped with weapons, the pirates rushed to the location of the girl's shrieks only to find the townsmen attempting to burn her alive under the accusation of witchcraft.
Caroline immediately forged a line leading to Bonnie, clearing a rather violent path through the ignorant bigots taking longer than she liked.
Their mutiny provided just enough of a distraction in the commotion underway that when they turned back, they discovered that the witch was gone, disappeared. Katherine only shrugged and proceeded to loot the place without exception.
When they made it back to the ship, they happened across the unlikely spectacle of Bonnie, still clad in her ash-coated rags, getting herself obscenely drunk on their dewberry wine and delicately wobbling across the tightrope that was the ship's railing.
Caroline immediately pulled her down before she could fall and asked if she wanted to join their crew.
While Bonnie made a mediocre pirate, who went out of her way to avoid the sound of clashing swords and wore a pinched expression when her crewmates became too rowdy, she made up for it as an exceptional witch.
She was crucial to their navigation after particularly severe tropical thunderstorms, and she aided their raids when they needed a distraction or ward of protection.
However, the wards only worked when Bonnie was awake, which is probably why they were left vulnerable on the open sea when it all went down.
Caroline awoke to the sound of canons in the dead of night.
Jolting, she instinctively reached for her trusty cutlass and took off upstairs, a polished silver pistol discreetly resting in the leather belt around her hip.
Katherine was already at the helm, hollering demands at the top of her lungs from the forecastle deck as everyone scrambled, the sound of fighting clear as a lightning strike.
April, a wide-eyed boatswain, rushed by with a squeak of, "We're being invaded!"
Naturally, Caroline deduced that the second she saw the ornate ship stationed next to theirs, unfamiliar men swinging over on ropes and descending with blades drawn. Blinks of fire lit up the darkness as cannonballs launched into the side of her beauty of a vessel.
Caroline yelled for Enzo to help Olivia secure the cannons below and round up the gunners, and she joined the chaos down on the main deck.
Right away, she could tell that the opposing crew meant business.
A foul mist of chemicals burned at their eyes as stinkpots were hurled upon deck. Caroline quickly kicked one overboard as it crashed right in front of her, allowing Meredith to sweep by, pulling an injured man out of the way as she cursed under her breath.
"Bonnie, can't you do something? Now would be a good time to give them something else to look at!" Caroline hissed as she fended off an overly confident swordsman.
"I'm working on it!" Bonnie answered through gritted teeth, her brows scrunched together as she carried a few magical materials in her arms, scurrying to find cover so she could finish a spell.
"Everyone, stay calm! We're only taking over your ship," a rather arrogant voice boomed above her. "Join me and consider your lives spared! If you'd rather go down with this pitiful piece of driftwood, however, who am I to deny a deathwish?"
"Seriously?" Caroline huffed as she squinted up at the impeccably dressed rival captain. How the hell did that bastard climb the mainmast so quickly?
Cannonballs sailed overhead, and the roaring sound was louder than the blood rushing in her ears, almost too loud for her organized thoughts to surface, her heart pounding as grunts and shouts surrounded her.
Caroline hardly had to consider the appeals of shooting him before she was raising her pistol.
An ungodly screech disrupted the sky and drew everyone's attention, a spray of water descending upon them.
Everyone's movements came to an abrupt halt as the planks trembled underneath their feet. The boat suddenly rocked to the right, tossing their supplies overboard as they clung to wooden posts to stay upright.
It was a monster of legend, wielding strength so great it was said to wrap itself around boats and drag them into the abyss.
Staring up at the slimy gray tentacles slowly winding themselves around her ship, Caroline could instantly see why it carried its famed reputation of terror.
"Seriously, Bonnie?!" Caroline shouted in defiant outrage, glaring up at the creature that just emerged from the ocean. "You summoned a Kraken?"
Said Kraken blinked its enormous eye in response as if she had personally offended it with her words more than the cannonballs she commanded be fired its way. The long axe someone lodged into its nearest fleshy limb only spurred its temper.
"It was only supposed to be a giant squid!" Bonnie growled back in frustration, "And don't blame me, blame the slack-jawed imbecile who interrupted me!"
"Such hurtful language, darling," a dark-haired man with a twisted smile leered back at her. "I think you'll find the Kraken more agreeable to being drowned by my brother's crew."
"Bloody hell!" Enzo cried, leaping behind a ferocious-looking blonde as he gazed up at the beast. "Get rid of the slimy git! Now!"
His blonde attacker laughed openly at him; he sent a momentary scowl her way. "I must have mistaken you for a pirate. You're clearly nothing more than a misplaced port authority stooge."
Enzo shook off his incredulity and gave her a rather amorous once-over. "Now, now. I would say that is no way for a lady to talk, however..." He ran his tongue across his teeth, lips curving into something almost coy. "You're no lady."
The tall and shapely blonde gave him a smile that was more teeth than anything. "Why, thank you."
"Are you all impaired?" Katherine made a face that told them how much she believed it to be true. "Run!" She frantically waved her pistol in the air before firing a few shots at the pissed-off Kraken, and people scattered accordingly. "Abandon ship!"
Just as Caroline made her way to the enemy's ship, a man was plucked straight out of her path, screaming in terror as the spongy tentacle flung him into the air.
Typically Caroline was not a fan of abandoning her ship (because she was a good captain, thank you very much!); however, given the way the Kraken had taken to eating it, she wouldn't have a ship to go down with in just a few more minutes, and fleeing was indeed the best plan of action.
"Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate." —Captain Jack Sparrow
Taking shelter aboard The Hybrid's Curse did not win them any favor, only suspicious comments, and darting glances.
No matter how much networking Katherine and Enzo pulled off, there was a handful of men and women who would not offer their support.
On the bright side, most of her crew had survived the morning's attack; on the downside, the other crew seemed to resent their perseverance.
"We raided your ship in the search for treasure," Captain Klaus said rather petulantly, looking far too complacent for a man with gunpowder on his shirt, the victim of a spiteful wind. "Not to rescue a horde of whiny tagalongs."
Caroline rolled her eyes and finished cleaning her pistols. The only reason they needed rescuing in the first place was all because of him and his crew.
"Well, your prize is currently sinking in the depths of the Caribbean," Caroline appeared unfazed, "but by all means, if you plan to go fetch it..." she trailed with a derisive smile.
He merely smirked, inspecting every inch of her with a raw interest unique to any sentiment she'd ever seen cast her way. "On the contrary, love... I believe my prize is standing right here."
As the sun peaked over the horizon, the early morning light made for a pastel wash of his features, softening them in a way. He was disgustingly attractive, she decided, but she would not forfeit her rank now.
She cleared her throat. "I have a proposition for you." A charming smile crossed his maddeningly red lips, and before he could release the unsavory retort she knew he had on the tip of his silver tongue, she continued.
"You allow my crew equal reign of your vessel, and we give you access to our stores of wealth. It’s a simple deal, and I think the price is more than fair," she proposed in what she hoped was a professional voice. Truth be told, she wasn't used to sharing nor bargaining for power.
Klaus barked a laugh. Admittedly, it was a beautiful sound as he drank in her boldness.
"We, in all of our honor, saved your crew from a fate worse than death," he sent her a sideways glance. "Now you want to take my ship, too?"
"Co-captains," she blurted the first thing that came to mind and then cursed herself. "I mean..." she amended off of his curious look. "Just until we can find ourselves another ship. Escort us to the closest port, and we'll be out of your way. Plus, you get gold."
"We have gold. And we aren't heading towards a port anytime soon," Klaus said tersely.
She frowned at that.
"Although I am feeling particularly magnanimous today," he continued before she could dwell on his statement, "I suppose we can put it to a vote."
A whistle gathered attention from his crew. "All those in favor of an alliance?"
"Aye!" A round of cheers sounded, and Klaus mentally tallied up the votes.
There was plenty of shifty glances and whispering as Caroline scanned the crowd for her people. The only reassuring part of this spectacle was that if Klaus went back on his word, the considerable number of seafarers would take note, and a skirmish might allow her group to escape.
He turned to her with a tilt of the head, held out a hand in a silent offer. "It's a deal, love."
It was rather unfortunate how warm and secure her hand felt in his. She chuckled, and he surmised her approval, cheeks dimpling as she stepped closer.
"If you try anything funny, I'll leave you marooned on the closest spit of land with nothing more than crushed barnacles for company," she smiled sweetly at him.
A warm feeling blossomed within her as she felt his eyes follow her the entire way back to her crew.
Katherine leaned in and muttered conspiratorially. "If you desire a mutiny at any time..."
"Just say the word, Gorgeous," Enzo quietly finished with a wink.
"Marcel, weigh anchor!" Klaus called. "Set a course for Isla de Muerta."
A few men spared him surprised glimpses, but they kept their feet moving as the ship changed route. The island posed many dangers, but with great risk came great reward.
Why not try to find the fabled Aztec treasure, too? The man who held that treasure became one step closer to the title of king of the seas.
His numbers just doubled, as did his resources. He wore a contemplative gaze as he watched Caroline go to her friends. Suddenly, a new world of possibilities opened up and invited him inside.
“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” —Andre Gide.
It didn't take long to learn why the Mikaelson siblings traveled so sporadically and avoided docking: they were trying to evade their father, who condemned them and endlessly sought their deaths by any means necessary.
As an Admiral in the British Royal Navy, Mikael commanded intimidating forces and was last seen behind the helm of the HMS Dauntless. Thus, they always went to town in pairs and used aliases when they gathered supplies or collected intel.
Getting to know Captain Mikaelson's crew wasn't as unpleasant as Caroline first expected.
There was Kol, with his mischievous eyes and regaling tales of triumph and revelry, and he'd taken to pestering Bonnie about the grimoires she somehow managed to save from the wreckage. Finn held a stoic stare and tendency to sharpen his sword in times of dispute, preferring peace over quarrels.
Frizzy-haired Rebekah bemoaned her battle with the merciless humidity but offered the most dazzling smiles and humorous jokes at her brothers' expenses. Enzo quickly found that banter came as easy as laughing with her did, and the two often sparred to whittle away the dull hours.
Katherine became subtly besotted with the intensely handsome and refined Elijah, who appeared pleasantly surprised by the fire in her eyes when she rebuked his aid while tying knots in the long ropes. "I know my way around ropes, thank you," she told him with a derisive scoff. "If you really want to be helpful, you'll show me where you keep the rum."
Stored in white oak barrels with liquor made from cane molasses, one of the only redeeming parts of the Mikaelsons' ship was their bounty of exquisite rum. It often lent the crew a guiding hand on their quest to get blisteringly drunk.
Elijah granted her an indulgent smile in return and offered his arm. Never one to back down from a challenge, Katherine linked her arm in his and listened to his tale of how they acquired their ship from a ruthless Spanish fleet off the coast of Havana. Spending time together soon became as natural as raising the sails.
Caroline leaned against the taffrails and listened to the ocean push them along their route, a vast array of stars speckling the blanket of darkness above her.
The mythic Aztec treasure lay just up ahead, and there was a chance everything could go south very quickly.
Living in close quarters turns the two crews into one fairly quickly amongst the daily squabbles about food rationing and distribution of work. When push comes to shove, they all know what to do to keep the ship afloat, and their collective tenacity was a comfort.
All of this time onboard, and Caroline thought she would have had Captain Klaus more figured out by now, but alas, the man resisted simplicity, preferring to remain as puzzling as the day he set his pilfering foot aboard her ship.
She didn’t dwell on how quickly she sensed him approaching, a natural awareness of him that she couldn’t seem to shake.
"You could have tossed us overboard by now," Caroline said in place of a greeting. "Any other pirate would."
"A pirate such as whom?"
"My father."
He stopped at the edge and turned to gaze at her. The spun gold of her locks seemed absolutely disheveled, red rimming her cornflower blue eyes as she fought off a lack of sleep. A captain to her core, she did not rest when she could instead watch over her slumbering crewmates as they curled up on the deck, the only space suited to hold their numbers.
There was a weariness in her voice that he knew was not simply from restlessness.
"And who might that be, love?"
She bit back a humorless chuckle. "Ever heard of William Kidd?"
The shock that briefly crossed his face was enough to answer her soft inquiry.
Of course, he knew. Most people did. After all, sea shanties were written about the bloodthirsty pirate who betrayed his own for loot, glory, and anything that saved his head from the gallows.
A thousand questions buzzed in his mind, but he couldn't reconcile the enigma that was Caroline with her lively spirit, sunny disposition, and gentle hand with the cruel shadow of William Kidd. "I never would've expected that man capable of raising such greatness," he spoke honestly.
She shrugged, unbothered as they listened to the waves lap against the ship's siding. "He didn't. I doubt he even knows I exist."
She supposed it would be apt to regret everything that's happened since she left home.
The nights she spent scraping away at unfulfilling jobs from her time on land, running off with a willful soul such as Katherine. The beckoning of wickedness that was the life of a pirate, being responsible for people she loved and inevitably lost as everything she built for herself sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
But somehow, she didn't regret it. Perhaps that made her an awful person. She felt how every day was an opportunity to craft a new story, carve out opportunities and live a new version of life she hadn't previously known existed. It connected her to people, places, things that challenged her and intrigued her, and she couldn't ignore the meaning of it all.
Pirates were known for sailing the seven seas, always looking for treasure. And sometimes the treasure they search for are helpless people trying to escape their lives and find their happiness at sea.
It's true, Caroline made a conscious effort to never become the kind of pirate her father was. The sea put a song in her heart, and she would not forsake it for heedless immorality.
Klaus's mouth quirked. "His loss, love."
She hummed. That much they could agree on.
"It's true, I could have sent you to the seafloor instead of giving you refuge," he agreed after a long but comfortable silence, "these winter waters and shark-infested reefs would not be much kinder to you."
She raised a delicate brow at that.
"Perhaps I consider you to be far more valuable alive than dead."
It should have sent a foreboding chill down her spine, but she was oddly content as she replied, “What do you want from me?”
“I want what every well-witted pirate wants, my dear. Divine treasure." Klaus idly gave a final glance into the black waves sloshing before them, highlighted by the waning moon before turning to head back to his cabin.
"And there’s no fairer gem than you.”

This week, for our first 'loyal reader,' we had a chance to chat with Ennie, a very enthusiastic and passionate reader. Keep reading to find out what she has to say about her start in the fandom to her favorite story.
KCL: For our first question we would like you to introduce yourself! What's your name or alias? And could you mention your username?
Ennie: Hi! My name is Ennie and my tumblr username is @enniec123.
KCL: Thank you for allowing us to interview you. We are really excited about this. So let’s jump in with this question: how and when did you join the Klaroline fandom?
Ennie: Yeah, of course! I joined the Klaroline fandom because my friend is really into the show and had been telling me to watch it for a long time, so I binged all 3 shows in spring 2020.
Before watching the show, I knew the bare minimum, which was that he's a bad guy and she's a good guy, very black and white. I also knew that Klaroline was a thing and was kinda confused as to how they could be together because they were on opposite sides. Keep in mind, I knew basically nothing, and I had only really read friends to lovers ships before watching the show. Next, I watched the iconic 3x11 scene, then immediately saw why they were so loved and jumped on board so fast.
KCL: Would you say after watching the memorable 3x11 scene, that it was what drew you to Klaus and Caroline ship? Could you explain what exactly drew you in?
Ennie: 3x11 is definitely what drew me into them. In my opinion, there was nothing really platonic about that whole scene. First of all, the words he used and the way he said them were really soft and different compared to what we had seen before. Until this point, we knew him as the ruthless killer, then he becomes softer and is telling her that there is a huge world out there, waiting to be explored. The other part was that he leaned in really close while talking, and he could have put his blood in a glass and give it to her, but instead, he offered his arm, brought her close, and stroked her hair.
KCL: You answered that beautifully! Their first scene together is definitely one of the most popular ones here in the fandom! After falling in love with the Klaus and Caroline ship, do you remember the first story you've read?
Ennie: I was kind of shocked that I remembered which fic brought me into reading more Klaroline, it feels like it was forever ago, not 9-ish months. Before TVD, I was reading Gendrya fics from the GOT universe, and I knew that as soon as I started reading Klaroline fics I would not be reading other fics anymore. So, I waited a few months after finishing the show, and I think around August/September-ish I saw that one of my fav Gendrya writers also wrote 3 Klaroline fics. Then I was like "ok, maybe ill read them and see what happens."
My first fic was either Right Place, Wrong Time or When Life Changes by @psychvamp25. Then I binged all of @honestgrins one-shot/drabbles. Everything snowballed from there, and here we are today.
Right Place, Wrong Time is the fic that made me start to love time travel fics and the viking era fics. When Life Changes made me love the period fics and the ones that they were together for a long time. Then I read @bellemorte180's Original Caroline fic and I was a goner. Original Caroline is definitely one of my favorite tropes.
KCL: It's impressive that you still remember your first story! And it seems like you have spent a lot of time reading. On average, what would you say is the number of hours you have spent reading stories?
Ennie: It honestly depends on how busy I am. I like to binge stories, and read till like 2 am. I know it's a very bad habit, and I am working on it. If I am busy then maybe 1 hour-ish during the day and 2 at night so 1-3 hours. If I have a break in school, then I would read for an entire day. If I have more time while it's a school week, then maybe 3-8 hours a day, sometimes more depending on how late I stay up… I realize now that I have a problem. Yikes. A lot basically.
KCL: That's nothing to feel bad about! We’re sure that there are many others who are on the same boat as you, we certainly are! Since you do a lot of reading, do have any favourite authors? Could you share a couple of them?
Ennie: I have so many favorite authors. Here are a few: @galvanizedfriend (Yokan), coveredincolors, @honestgrins (honestgrins), @helpless-in-sleep (perfectpro), @helpfulfairy (helpfulfairy92), @lalainajanes (LalainaJ), @misssophiachase (misssophiachase), @klarolineagainnaturally (klarolineagainnaturally), @bellemorte180 (bellemorte180) and @lynyrdwrites (LynyrdLionheart).
This was really hard to choose.
KCL: We are so lucky to have so many talented authors in this community, where we can always enjoy reading new or rereading stories from them. Before we dive into your favorite story, what are you currently reading so we can add it to our reading list?
Ennie: I am currently rereading Endlessly by @slstmaraudersjple. Another one of my favies.
KCL: Thank you for sharing! We will definitely be checking it out. So far, you have mentioned your first stories and your favorite authors, but what would you say is your favorite KC story?
Ennie: Only Human by @peacefulvillagefairone is one of my favorite fics. Besides The Wolf 2, I will say this is definitely my favorite story.
KCL: We love that story too! It’s one of our favorites! In your own words, could you give us a brief summary of the story?
Ennie: I suck at summaries because I end up spoiling it, but I will try my best.
Caroline is human and wants to know more about Klaus because he doesn't open up a lot to her. She gets sent back in time to when the originals were human. From that point on, she goes on an adventure to try to get back to her time but not before trying to dodge trouble that comes her way.
KCL: That was such a great summary! And what was it that you loved about the author’s writing style?
Ennie: In my opinion, the story is very light. There is a lot of fluff but there is also a lot of plot. It's centered around time traveling and I really love that. It's about the adventures that they go on and how Caroline gets to see different versions of Klaus.
I think that the fic is a fun ride. It's a non-thinking story which I really enjoy. Don’t get me wrong, I love really analytical fics that make me think a lot, but when your brain needs a break from real life and you don't want to think a lot then this fic is perfect. There are some mysteries in the fic that make you think but it gets revealed soon and there are a lot of hints so it's a fun mystery to solve without deep diving into it.
KCL: Our next question is what made you fall in love with the story? Was it the chemistry between Klaus and Caroline? The conflict in the story or maybe the character arcs?
Ennie: I thought that it was a different story because it starts with Klaus and Caroline getting together when she was human and then time traveling. I loveeeee domestic and established kc and the fic shows them being physically together but not mentally together if that makes sense.
The fic shows the progression of their trust and how deeply they fall in love with each other. While I do love fics that start with them not together, sometimes I want a long fic with a lot of fluff. This story has a balance of plot and fluff. It's a beautiful story. It's on the longer side but it makes me really happy. If I'm feeling down, then I skip around the fic to reread my favorite parts.
KCL: We agree! We enjoy a good story of Klaus and Caroline in a domestic setting too. And for our last question, what would you want to say to readers who haven't read your favorite story yet?
Ennie: I hope you read it and it brings you joy and satisfaction like it did to me.
Letter To The Author
To @peacefulvillagefairone,
Thank you for creating such amazing stories. Only Human has a special place in my heart. It was one of the first fics I have ever read and I am in love with the plotline. Time travel fics are so fun and you wrote it beautifully. I can't spoil anything for the fic but I really love a certain someone. I think that he is such a good character and the matchmaking cracked me up. The convos between present and past were so amazing. The characterizations were on point. The story is so fluffy and full of plot and it makes me so happy when I read it. When Klaus, Caroline, and the OC are together, it's so sweet. I loooovvveeeee their moments, esp the ending. The story has so many of my favorite tropes all wrapped up in 120k words *chefs kiss* Thank you once again for creating this masterpiece and sharing it with the world. 💖
