do you have a timeline for when throne is coming back? I'm rereading it currently because I'm obsessed and loving the unique story

I have no timeline yet....

I want to, at the very least, finish the Liberal Arts fic which has about 5 chapters left in it. Ideally, I'd like to start back up with Throne only once all my ongoing fics (except the gods AU one) are done. I just like finishing things up and it gets under my skin to leave something undone.

That said, I am very excited to get back to it. I had a brainstorming session on it last week. Previously, I had thought to just stick to as much of the show's storyline as possible and then I realized that I'd accidentally set up something a bit cooler for myself. I'll need to re-read the fic to pick out exactly the things that tickled my brain. The three mysterious witches will have a more important role in it all as well as tying some of Klaus's enemies a little more directly into Elena's story.

I have been thinking about this ask since you sent it. Reaching into the part of me that is most genuine so that I can give you an answer. I want to say Elejah. It makes the most sense in canon. I personally headcanon that the gazebo kiss stirred feelings in a no-humanity Elena. I want to say both to indulge myself, but that wasn't your question.

I looked in the mirror and I knew my answer. It has to be Klena.

I mean, look at my track record. Klena gets all my long fics and I clearly love nothing more than edging Elejah as a form of torture. Though, either would have been too hot for the CW show.

I'm sticking with Klena though. And the why is for so many reasons. I love an arc that feels full circle. Tatia (depending on if you like the retcon or not) is whose blood imprisoned half of Klaus. It wasn't Katherine who released him, but Elena's blood. It was only with the two of them that hybrids could have life (honestly very Adam and Eve of them). Klaus refers to her as his on multiple occasions. He's been WAITING for her, for thousands of years. Yearning if not for her than for the promise of what she means to his life and his power. The ability to make an army (or a family) lies in her. It's too potent to ignore.

Hi! Passing the question back! What are 3 moments you’d rewrite for Elena. (Though universally I think everyone would throw that sirebond plot out 🥴)

Honestly the sirebond plot as a device doesn't bother me as much as how they choose to portray it both with Tyler and Elena as if they blamed both of them for being sired.

But here we go:

Elena Dies

In season 2, Elena should have stayed dead longer. The sacrifice her biological dad made should have failed and ultimately meant nothing. The shock of it would have been spectacular and great for story telling reasons. Stefan not only leaves with Klaus to save his brother but also because he can't stand to be in Mystic Falls. Let that death really impact the story and the other characters. Yes, she had vampire blood in her system but let's say for plot reasons the blood is out of her system by the time Klaus comes to kill her.

She stays dead until Klaus or someone figures out that he needs her blood to make hybrids. And when he resurrects her, she comes back Different and Wrong. She was at peace and she was ripped from that peace (like Buffy).

The Horrific Reality of the Sirebond

Season 6, she's depressed about Damon dead (not as much about Bonnie which never sits right). But then we find out, it's not strictly because of how much she missed him. It's because the sirebond was never broken. Not from her humanity switch, not from anything. And with the death of her sire, it's dragging her down with him. Literally. The magic is compelling her to death. Everyone recognizes in horror what has been happening to her. It's not Elena who goes to Alaric to have her memories removed. She's too far gone for that. Her friends have to take her kicking and screaming until every last piece is locked away. It's too dangerous to bring those pieces back.

Leaving Mystic Falls

Season 6 (again) ends with Elena and Tyler stripped of their vampirism. Elena drowned so it would be easy for her to be resuscitated instead of the cure. I just didn't like how it was like, oh let's bring that back again and Bonnie had to be the one to go get it and risk getting out of the prison world for what? They are both human again and shit, Klaus could come back for her. Things are going down in Mystic Falls and they need to escape. Tyler, upon losing Liv, agrees to go underground with her. No sleeping curses just them leaving and honestly, if they are going to be gone from TVD let them be gone without the characters having to literally carry her around in a metaphorical and literal box the entire time. Let them be.

HOWEVER

It's Tyler and Elena. Yeah they are on the road for some time together but then they hear about Hayley. Tyler understands what it means and dammit he can't let a threat like that stand against werewolves as a community. He has to do something. And Elena is primed for revenge against Klaus too. He killed so many people they love.

They show up on The Originals ready to be the biggest pains in his side.

I'm screaming over the idea of reading a love triangle fic where both Damon and Elena are pursuing Bonnie.

What would you think of a fanfic interpretation of Damon's "I love you...like elena loves you" line to Bonnie as an admittance that both he and Elena desire Bonnie romantically?

DE’s well aware they are toxic, they call it out but honestly I view them as settling for each other. They created so much friction and problems between their shared friend group by being together that it just stayed? Which isn’t good for either of them but I could buy them pretending to still be in love until one of them snaps!

Elena does have fun/emotional moments with other women like Rebekah and Caroline. But when Elena’s at her worst she specifically calls out to Bonnie. When things get messy and Bonnie ends up hurt she wants to apologize first. (TVD ruins that by decentering Bonnie) Elena wants Bonnie there for the fun moments like they used to have with their sleepovers and cheerleading. Bonlena doesn’t have the “we can’t be like this or “this isn’t us” speeches with any other woman in the series.

But this does raise the question was Damon’s problem with Bonnie in s1 due to Elena being unaware of her love for Bonnie? Did Elena say Damon kinda loves Bonnie because she knows what it’s like to love Bonnie and be silenced(or denial) about it? Either way Bonnie would be clueless and whoever decides to tell her first would have to be direct about it.

Damon had to learn like Elena what was it like gaining Bonnie’s loyalty, learning her perseverance throughout hardships and how she cares about other people but from abandoning her he also had to realize what it’s like being on her bad side again.

May the best man or woman win(My money would be on Elena) first than Damon admitting anything.

Every day since you left is a day I mourn for what could have been. A day that envy consumed me at the mere thought of another version of me who lived in that glory. For you, I would wait the rest of my life.

He wasn’t his father. He never was. Wyll had never let pride get in his own way and he wouldn’t now. “But please. Hiski.” He holds a piece of her hair in his hands, too nervous to look in her eyes. Too worried he might see an answer in them. “Don’t make me wait.”

When you write your long multi chapter fics, do u outline everything first? I want to start writing and was hoping for some advice. I admire your skill!

I've run the gamut with this one, anon.

He's All I Ever Knew Of A Love has absolutely no outline and is all just vibes and vague parts I want to go to but have no intention of ever writing down in an outline.

Throne of Blood is highly outlined in a massive spreadsheet with my thoughts and ramblings and ideas.

Most of my other fics though do have a vague outline to them. Not particularly scene for scene or even chapter by chapter but more big moment to big moment. I find that doing it in a Milestone Outline kind of method, I allow myself to find the path to the milestones while having the freedom to let the story transform itself. Outlines help as a general guideline but know that if what you have in your outline no longer serves the story you are telling, it's okay to scrap it. Outlines are like planning cross country road trips on a physical map. You have the vague notion in front of you and as you fill it out the journey becomes more clear.

Write down the important moments you want to hit and what the A, B or C plots are in the fic like a skeleton and fill in the muscles and meat with your words. I guess in this anatomy metaphor the editing is like the skin and hair and other pretty features.

chapter 4 - i warn you, baby, each night, as sure as you're born

“Your wife,” she murmurs and then clears her throat. Hoping her head might follow. “Your wife, Wyll. What about her?”

 “My wife?” His nose crinkles in indignation. A flash of reproach in his eyes subsides into annoyance and his response is a strained whisper. “You are my wife in all the ways that have ever mattered to me.”

It’s heady to be at the center of his attention and she can’t think of the words to say.

“Under the Wilden Oak, within earshot of those evasive fey, I promised myself to you in a way that cannot be touched by laws of man.” His voice is hoarse and low as his forehead comes to touch hers. “I was given even if not received. Receive me now, Hiski.”

Werewolves or vampires?

This is a good question and I truly do enjoy both.

If I have to pick one though, it would be werewolves. There's some themes in werewolf media that hedges werewolves over vampires for me.

Generational Trauma

There are a lot of familial themes with a lot of werewolf stories though even the types of werewolves differ from each other. A lot of them due rely on a pack structure and some even play with the notion of the werewolf curse being inherited versus transmission through bites (or both existing in the same world which is fun). But mostly, you get this curse that is sort of representative of trauma being passed through generations and how the past affects the present.

Puberty

Honestly I just love the notion of associating puberty (and specifically menstruation) with werewolves. Being tied to the moon cycle and your moods changing. It's a fun metaphor and makes having a period seem much more badass. Like the notion of waking up, covered in blood, and not initially knowing why. Period? Or secret werewolf?

Freedom and the Id

Werewolves tend to represent the id and because of that freedom. It's a great push and pull for a character who might be more reserved as the human part to then gain access to this freedom that their werewolf transformation brings. With that also comes themes of having a different body and feeling comfortable within that body. Transformation that is connected with nature in general but also the character's nature.

Sexual Repression

Piggy-backing off the freedom and id, werewolves represent society's struggle with sexual repression and sexual freedom. A werewolf just wants. It consumes and feasts without guilt or fear. Versus a human's desire being caged in society, especially one founded on Puritanical values.

Now that Elena has undaggered Elijah in Throne (especially because of how she felt when Klaus kissed her), what kind of relationship are Elena and Elijah going to have? And what will be Klaus' reaction to it?

I saved this ask for so long thinking I would get to Throne sooner than later.

I think post daggering, Elena and Elijah will have a more realistic relationship. Elijah won't be able to see her as just the innocent, but crafty young girl. She's still so young but her experiences have started shaping her to be the woman she will become. He'll be forced to see how ruthless she is when it comes to protecting her people. Not just with her words but with her actions. By stripping each other of these artificial masks of who they want the other to be, Elena and Elijah will grow a closer relationship because of it.

And of course, Klaus will be completely fine with the idea of that and will not react in any unhinged way about it at all. ;)

chapter 3 - oh, please, give me mercy no more

“I wouldn’t have cared about what they thought.” Agony traces along his features and even now he’s as beautiful to her as he’ll always be. He holds her hands, gently. Turning over her palms in his and tracing the spiderwebbed lines. “If I knew, Hiski, if I knew I would have fought for you. I would have followed you to Reithwin. Damn the Baldurians. Damn the city. Damn it all to the Hells if I could have had you.”

“That was the problem,” she nods absently and he leans forward to catch words too soft on the air. Her throat aches and if she never speaks again it will be a blessing. She could lose her voice and wouldn’t hurry to find it.
