Decided to make a fic recommendation post for newbies to the fandom and those who may not know where to look for good/fun fics! Also, feel free to send me an ask about fics I should look into and add for the list! I'm more than happy to add them or make a second post!

Shattered Glass by Eric Alost, oneshot. Angsty and really nice, looks through the perspective of a potential 'win' of a certain boxer.
To have, To be by Kmoody, oneshot. Short, cute, sweet, and slightly shippy Joe/Kaiser if you squint.
Faith by Derpula, multi-chapter, finished. Very good read about mac's contender fight with Super Macho Man, includes both mac and Macho's perspectives. Interesting character development and analysis of both and definitely has its hair-raising moments!
Blurred Lines by Derpula, oneshot. A look into Doc and Macs relationship, very sweet and heartwarming with the slightest sprinkle of angst.
Accuser by kmoody, oneshot. A look into Glass Joe's internal monoluge after a fight, angsty and almost feels poetic.
La Confiance EN by kmoody, oneshot. Slightly angsty look into Glass Joe's fears before a match, featuring a cat and a happier ending! Also comes in a french version.
Home by dannyson97, multi-chapter, unfinished. A story about Joe and Aran getting into a matched together. Because it's unfinished, the fight is never seen but the opening chapters are charming all on their own!
Snapped by NightshadeOfDeath, multi-chapter, unfinished. A story about Joe making a mistake and facing the consequences. Looks into his personal fears and perceptions of himself.
Teenager versus French Gentleman by BoxingWGV, multi-chapter, unfinished. An interesting flip on the story of mac rising to the top of the wvba. Here, he can't even beat glass joe and we see some trials with other boxers as well.
Punch Out: The Champion Returns REMASTERED by the ender defender, multi-chapter, unfinished. A fun fic about mac rising to the top of a different boxing organization with an equally wacky cast of characters as the wvba and some cameos from our old faves! Its very similar to a fic later in the list, but with much shorter chapters.
Punch-Out!: Straight to the top by VittorioFGC, multi-chapter, unfinished. A nice fic retelling the events of the 2009 game blended with the original nes game with some additional details. It has footnotes as well, which I found very funny, and an Italian version.
Klaas Dekker's Punch-Out by Alexneushoorn, multi-chapter, unfinished. A fic set after mac retires, a rise-to-the-top story starring a new boxer named Klaas, featuring some original characters and others from the various games.
Shippy-
Act Out! by JesterrDraws, multi-chapter, unfinished. Au where the 2009 game is actually a movie! Ships so far: Don x Carmen, Bear x Tiger, Joe x Aran
PunchOut! Second Round by Vile.EXE, multi-chapter, unfinished. A sequel to the 2009 game where mac has to fight through a new sea of wacky characters to find out what's really going on and what happened to the WVBA. Very, very, very fun! Though light on story, it makes up for that with the silly characters that fit right in in the punch out universe. All opponents are ocs and there are cameos from the 2009 cast. The story is very much like 'the champion returns' but with more fleshed out chapters. Ships: Mac x OC

Full Moons and Silver Spoons by NoonboryKedabory, oneshot. Teenage Glass Joe Babysits a baby Narcis, short, sweet, and cute.
Sportsmanship by Broken_Clover, multi-chapter, finished. Mac decides to befriend all of his opponents with varying rates of success. Extremely cute and funny as well.
Sweet Dreams? by X_Sukix29, oneshot. Hondo is being haunted by something and is protected by his friends in the major circuit. Works really well as a short horror story with a happier ending!
Forgive and Forget...? by X_Sukix29, oneshot. Don does not take his loss to Mac well and becomes a mess until Mac, and later the rest of the major circuit, talk him to his senses. An emotionally deep exploration of Don's character motivations and a falling out between the major circuit boxers that resolves to a happy end.
A Place for Everything by Broken_Clover, oneshot. A look into an au where Joe is a god of failure, mistakes, and hope. Less of a traditional story and more lore-like, but very interesting nonetheless.
D7- Animal by Broken_Clover, oneshot. A peek into a dark, post-apocalyptic au where the wvba gang, no longer human, finds Joe in the wasteland.
Rabid Punches by megidolaon56, oneshot. An excellent, dark story about Aran having rabies and giving it to Mac. Sad ending, but very much worth the read. Note that there is untagged use of the r-slur and the n-word (Though cut off).
Aran Ryan Goes to McDonald's by basedbiasedbogus, multi-chapter, finished. Joke story about Aran's adventures at McDonalds, funny and silly and not much else. Warning for the use of the r-word and a cut off version of the n-word.
I KNEW IT, MAC! by AceAndOver, oneshot. A joke story about Aran discovering Mac's deep, dark secret.
2 Months Ago (Underground Circuit Prologue) by AxolKat42, oneshot. Soda Popinski fights a mysterious opponent in the even more questionable 'underground circuit'. A good and interesting setup to a story not yet released.
C is for Culture by orphan_account, oneshot. A short drabble about unique elements of the boxer's cultures. Short and sweet but it gives and interesting insight into all the other boxer's lives.
The Houses in the Woods by Homosexual_Central, oneshot. Kid au where Hondo and Joe are being harassed by the local bully, Macho. They end up in a fight and are eventually rescued by Aran and later meet up at his house. Hondo and Aran become friends from all of this. Extremely cute story that gives a fun take on Aran and Hondo's personalities.
Black Roses by megidolaon56, multi chapter, finished. Don loses everything after Mac defeats him in contender mode- this is the story of how he becomes the Don we see during title defense. Extremely dark story, includes a lot of angst, violence, and overall terrible people but hoo boy is it a fun read if you like reading about characters going evil! Extremely violent and gore heavy in the last few chapters. Also a warning for abuse- Carmen is written as physically abusive and it's not talked about in the tags, nor is the use of the r-word in the last chapter just fyi. Bonus points for the double endings!

(Punch-Out!!) A Cheater's Reason by K1TT3N69, oneshot (technically) unfinished. This is the first 3 chapters of an unfinished fic exploring the reson behind Aran's cheating. Joe x Aran story that I'm sad never got finished.
L'Eau à La Bouche by seroquickshots, multi-chapter, finished. This is a smutty story where the reader rides Joe's face. I'm not one for x reader stories that much but this one was fun. Joe x reader, obviously.
Keep hittin' me, I love it by moonlight_museum, oneshot. Aran gets beat up by his boyfriend and then they bang about it. Aran x Soda Popinski, very kinky and a pretty short read.
The Night Was Young by floridacow, oneshot. Aran and Narcis have their own little fight club and things turn smutty. Aran x Narcis hatefucking.
Narcissus Lily and a Lucky Clover by Mushroom_king1994, oneshot. Very similar to the above, Aran and Narcis have a private fight, things get heated, and they bang about it. Aran x Narcis hatefucking extravaganza.
Punch Out!! Oneshots by gorebot, multi-chapter, unfinished. Two oneshots centered around Aran x Joe. In the first, Joe goes to a party and has to stay the night at a mysterious (and cute) stranger's house. In the second, Joe accidentally finds out Aran is trans and Aran doesn't take it well. Both are kinda nice if you like the ship.

Just a Sketchy Guy by TheRazor, oneshot. Joe catches Aran doodling one day and the two bond over Aran's art. Aran x Joe fluff, really cute and sweet with some joke ships thrown in as well.

If I could outline a whole plot, along with side plots, new characters and character arcs, write, and edit as fast as some of you guys can I would do it myself. I would do it for us. I’ve considered it. I mean I’ve been really considering it these past few days since it’s dryer out here than the Lyon’s bed. I’ve got an idea, lust, Christmas candy, and the hyper-focus to keep me interested for at least three to four weeks!! (I might have started if it wasn't the week before finals for me right now)
But some of you guys who’ve written for Steve Harrington (let alone other fandoms) have the ability to be best selling authors, so I know these communities have both the talent, ability, and the horniness to do this.
I believe in you guys, I believe in us. Let's do it for Christmas 🎄

Why I like love it:
1.) The writing is pretty damn good
Normally we have to wait a few weeks or months with new movies/shows/books for people to have time to write and publish their well written and plotted fics but we have been blessed early!!
I really like the sprinkle of tid bits to come here and there. The authors really laying the foundation down for this story leaving little comments and hints here and there in their writing and characters conversations.
I can tell that the author is really working hard to create believable oc's and a world that could actually be a part of the Fargo TV show universe.
2.) Damn the little taste of smut we got just flamed the fire!
Tell me why I could actually visualize Gator during that scene?!?! It really felt like his characterization was perfect here! And damn I love me some dominant, possessive, jealous himbos who would kill for me or worse.
I PROMISE I'M TRYING SO HARD NOT TO SPOIL ANYTHING FOR YOU GUYS!!!
3.) I really like our girl Daphne (OC)
I feel like I can actually see her. Like I can hear her when she speaks. I can feel the awkwardness of her situation and her uncomfortableness radiating through me.
I like that she's shaping up to be a character with wants and goals and not just a 2-d romantic partner
4.) GODDAMN THAT DINNER WAS AWKWARD AND SEXY

I love to hear it almost as much as I love to read it! But I could tell that they had some stuff in mind from the way they were writing alone before the confirmation.

It’s done a good job of getting me hooked. I’m really interested in learning more about Daphne’s past and her relationship with Gator. I think as time goes on as we learn more about their relationship and her relationship with both her family and his things are really gonna kick off.

Now, honestly, it's a mess in the Fandom. This whole thing is causing a shit storm, like always, and it's not pretty.
But whether or not this means something, we have to keep a level head. This could go either way. Which is why I, personally am taking the win.
Wins are few and far between right now, so, I'm taking it. And I'm also finishing two fics, and enjoying my book. Which is a pretty big deal, considering, I haven't been able to finish a book for most of last year 🥺

writer anon, hi cas, so um I did figure out a few things, I did another reply write after I saw your response, so maybe like copy paste them both into a post and respond then, so I can remember what I asked lol, went down a strange rabbit hole when I was looking up things, and came to a few conclusions
-spreading out exposition the first few chapters would be better for pacing
-it would be better for my future “plans” (in heavy quotations bc it’s actually not a plan, and more of a nightmare thats disguised as a daydream Taylor reference by mistake lol) for there to still be a war, and preventing another war plot, means I have to add stuff about politics, and I don’t want to do that until later
-instead of a guy think about the history of the past few years I’ll change it to the leader of a rebellion (kind of)/child soldiers (for added trauma) explaining it and their plans, at like a briefing, so it’s a bit less info dumping, and a briefing makes a bit more sense (?)
-it would also emphasize how much no one like the main villain (I will be changing his name a lot, so I’ll just call him that) and also introduce a the different way people view events (winners write history, stuff like that, etc.)
I was going to write tonight, but I found ttpd reaction videos, so I had to watch those, and then I got a headache that made my ears pop, so it hurt to have headphones in and I physically cannot start writing without music. I’m probably getting sick lol, and I have a busy week, but I’ll probably send you the prologue, and first chapter by next weekend, hopefully.
keep me accountable please. I haven’t written in ages bc no motivation and I’m afraid of it abandoning me, so having someone actually read is nice (is this what you and your beloveds do?)
Also, what was the strangest thing you’ve looked up for a fic? Curious bc today I looked up how much blood can a human loose before they die, stuff about child soldiers, dictators, were bombs possible in medieval times, and that’s honestly not event the worst of it.

Hahaha yes, me and my beloveds (@starchasersunseeker and @beautyoftheships ) do read each other's work. It's super helpful and makes it a lot more fun. Honestly I would not be where I am without them.
The weirdest thing I ever looked up was definitely detailed descriptions of methods of torture :P I promise, FBI agent reading this, it was for a fic! Strangely, I know the answer to the blood question because of a horror movie.

So I have to start with a disclaimer, Jo, the writer of this fic, is my best friend in the whole world and was the one that got me into writing fics and into making gifs and the whole fandom world. So I might be a little biased with everything she does - even if I think I’m not.
I also followed the creation of this fic, reading it multiple times before it was finished and giving her my 2 cents about it (And making a gif for it). Jo hasn’t written a Rivusa centered fic in a while and I was trying to keep a chill head while internally screaming with excitement that she was writing one - If you aren’t aware, I’m I like Rivusa a bit. Just a little bit.
This was a birthday fic for @gossipqueen2000, another amazing writer and fellow rivusa-stan (totally recommend her fics btw), and Jo first asked Mo what she enjoyed most in fics so this gift would be perfect. I’m not 100% what was in that list because that was a private conversation but boy am I happy with whatever Mo said because the final result was EXPECTACULAR.
This fic. THIS FIC. Ugh, where to even start?
Jo has a way of writing that not only sets the scene perfectly but takes you back and then into characters heads in a way that’s not tireing or confusing or that breaks you out of the plot. Everything happens in the perfect pace, fits right where it needs to fic and flows easily, you could read 100 pages of her writing and feel like you read only 10.
What I also love a lot about her writing, and something I think I struggle a lot with, is showing characters emotions, what they really feel in a way that isn’t “he was sad”, “he was angry”.
You could feel Riven’s love for Musa, not only the romantic love, or the physical lust he has for her, but the true, real love, because of little things like how he knows to keep her ID and her card in his wallet because she has a bad habit of not carrying one, or how he knows the lyrics to her favorite songs- which he also knows not to sing along because she hates when people do that. Details like this, details she adds at just the right place at the right time, show you so much more than what is said, shows the reader characters habits, their history. It gives their feelings depth and it makes it all just feel more real.
And the whump! Jo can write whump. The same way she writes love she writes pain and its so detailed and hurts it makes your heart squeeze. I don’t read a lot of the fics she puts out and I’ve apologized to her tons about it but because she loves hurt and whump and my heart is very fragile, I cry about the most littlest things and when I read a whump fic of hers it literally ruins my day because its all so real and raw and my mind just can’t stop thinking about it.
And the smut... oh boy oh boy... Jo says she’s not really a fan of writing smut but she’s amazing at it, with just a perfect dose of kink mixed it to make it spicy(er). And the smut in this didn’t dissapoint. After reading about, what 19k words of hurt/comfort you finally arrive at the smut and you yell FINALLY! and its HOT!
The plot, which maybe should have been the first thing I talked about but oh well. The plot is... what other word can I use that isn’t “perfect” or “amazing” because I think if Jo were to beta this post she’d say I used these words too much already... The plot is genius (?)
But seriously, Jo could have taken a trope like fuck or die, which is usually straight to the point and PWP, but made it just that, quick and easy. But no, she created a whole intricate universe, a whole detailed backstory, ten years of pining, before she delivered on the prompt. And then instead of making it so they resolve the issue right away, she draggs it over a few days, makes Riven taste the power of the curse, makes him prepared for death as much as he can be because he thinks there’s no way out of it. She makes you yell a the computer/phone screen because RIVEN YOU ARE SO FUCKING STUPID.
I think if I say anything else I’ll be spoiling the fic too much for those who haven’t read. So read it.
And while you’re there check out Jo’s other fics, only a few are rivusa because her main ship is skloom but I 100% recommend them. All of them.

Patreon Updates:
My Patreon page has been, frankly, pretty sad, pretty much since its inception. The goal is to change that in 2024, and we’re going to discuss some of the new developments today.
1. It used to be impossible for people who were not financially supporting me to comment on posts. I fixed that. Anyone should be able to comment now, and please, do. I would love to increase general engagement.
2. New rewards have already been added to the $15 and $25 support tiers. New rewards are in the works for $5 and $10 tiers. I’ve deleted the $20 tier, because no one was using it and I didn’t want to think of something to differentiate it from the others. The $1 tier will continue to get early access and exclusive content.
3. I am hoping to increase the amount of content I actually share on Patreon, because I’ve been seriously struggling in that department.
4. Patreon has recently added the option to sell digital media here, and I’m going to look into whether that’s worth doing or not. I will keep you guys posted.
5. I’m planning to add a Patrons-only coupon that can be used in my store.
6. I desperately need your feedback on what you’d like to see more of. What were you looking for when you came to this page? If you’ve never been here before, what would make you want to stay? What would make you want to support me?
· I started with blogs about folk and fairy tales. Did people enjoy that? Would you like me to get that going again?
· Do you want to see rough drafts or deleted scenes from finished projects?

so long, we become the flowers - Cowboy AU - Post-Fic Meta
Time for another meta post for “we become the flowers”, a.k.a. my cowboy au, now that the final chapter and epilogue have been released!

General thoughts
Yeah… the happy perfect ending back in chapter 5 couldn’t be allowed to last when there was an opportunity for MORE ANGST. I originally killed Greaves in chapter 4 before Fade and Neon reunited, but then I was like “wait… I want more cowboy antics” and pictured a scene of Fade furiously riding out to rescue Neon, and then this happened. I’m really glad because it gives me an opportunity to let Astra and Harbor shine!
Once they've healed, Neon thinks Fade’s new scars after the wolf attack are hot. She just has a thing for scars. She sees them as a symbol of them together rather than the attack, as was stated in the fic, BUT this is just Neon’s feelings bout them. If you asked Fade, she would deny this being their meaning, as she just sees them as memories of the attack and doesn’t think it makes any sense to assign more value to them than that. They’d probably argue about this if they told each other what they felt the scars represent, but ultimately it doesn’t matter. They are what they are and Neon has the hots for them.
At the end of chapter 6, Nathaniel and Neon were knocked out by a fantasy equivalent of chloroform which works closer to how it does in films than chloroform in reality, which doesn't knock you out for long and takes a very long time to work (plus if it does knock you out, it's likely to either kill you or otherwise seriously harm you since it's essentially starving you of oxygen). I wanted them unhurt and hey, I’m already extending fantasy to letting flowers bloom whenever I want. Why not this, too? It’s not important, ultimately, so long as you’re willing to suspend your disbelief for it. It’s a fantasy sleeping chemical, that’s all there is.
The soup Neon and her father made in chapter 8 is loosely based on tinola (a filipino ginger and garlic chicken soup with malunggay leaves and papaya). I don’t think they’d have papayas where they are and I don’t think food importation was particularly great at this point in time so I don’t think it was anything authentic, but the general ingredient profile was based on a tinola recipe I found online. I replaced the malunggay with bok choy, which I also don’t think is incredibly realistic, but I can believe them growing that more than I can believe them growing papaya, hahah. The flora in this fic is very fantasy in that they bloom whenever I like and they have some vegetables which the West most certainly didn’t have, but I don’t want to stretch it too far out of being plausible, so I just push it until my own suspension of disbelief begins to struggle.
On Twitter I sometimes post “spoilers without context” about my fics, and I did a couple of those for this fic. I posted a picture of Old Yeller in one of these posts to hint at Aykut’s death to the rabid wolf and someone asked me if I was going to kill a dog with rabies. I was just like “haha.. no… there are no rabid dogs and I would never kill a dog in my fics”… rabid wolves don’t count, right?

Changes
Deadlock was a later addition to this fic. I thought she’d be an interesting person for Fade to meet as someone who knows her town but not her history, and also provided an extra body to go after Greaves. He was set up as a powerful, crafty guy, even with his teammates gone. It wanted to make sure the threat of who he was was handled in a way that felt appropriate to the threat level, so Deadlock got added. It also adds some tension for the thought of lost power, when Deadlock’s pulled away to go track down what they assume will be Fade and Astra’s bodies. I also really enjoy Jettlock as a ship, even if it's tiny, and it was fun to add them into the background here towards the end. I think it's a nice end to Jett's arc.
This fic also got longer from its original plan even after the change from 5 to 9 chapters, with chapter 6 being added into the outline instead of chapters 6 and 7 being one single chapter. I felt Neon’s kidnapping felt rushed without the extra time, and I wanted to flesh out Fade’s recovery too after her attack, as this was an incredibly special time in the development of her and Neon’s relationship. They had her dad’s blessing, they were together all the time, they were living together and learning a little of what married life would be like for them. It was huge for them, and it was really nice to get to spend more time focusing on that. I’m glad I did, even if it meant pushing this fic to easily be my longest so far, surpassing even my and uni’s freckle fic 60k+ collab. After that, I thought adding an epilogue would be nice similar to how I did in my werewolf au, so it went from 10 to 11 chapters. I'm really satisfied with how it is now.

Here are the first things I drew for this au, just preliminary design ideas of Fade and Neon. They’re outdated now, as Neon should have her nose scar and Fade is missing her mouth scar, too, but they helped me visualise at the start.

Lastly, as promised in the first meta post for this fic, I have more moodboards which were made back before the first chapter was even written, along with the character design moodboards! These are boards for the cottage that Fade built Neon in the epilogue. It's SO nice to be able to share this after having kept them secret for so long!

1.) Not that I can particularly think of, no. The only instance there might be is a big cliffhanger for my fic Venture, I think.
2.) I'd say Venture or Imprisoned. (I should prolly link these, huh) Venture, because it's so long and I've got so many things happening in it, Imprisoned because of how many times Sap lashes out and fights back, and subsequently gets beat back down.
3.) Absolutely yes I do! I listen to music when I do everything! My current top four songs are Aura by GHOST, Rest Employed by the Stupendium, The End of The Line by the Stupendium, and Iron Lung by the Stupendium. Very good listens, I highly recommend them! (Remind me to put links)

5.) Not particularly, just whenever motivation decides to hit me.
6.) I've always wanted to be a writer since I was a little kid, but what seriously got me started was the indie game Ib, where I was like, 'i can make g/t of that's and started typing away. That was several years ago tho, and the fic still hasn't seen the light of day cause my older writing is so bad. It needs to go through some heavy editing before I let it out.
7.) I have an Eddsworld nom fic i'm almost done with. I've been hanging on to it since I ditched my eddsworld blog (sadness) cause I wasn't willing to let the fic go. Another one I wanna talk about is a (still unnamed) XD fic. It's inspired by I think one of jknight's fics. It's got Sap and Dream and XD and it's sorta almost done.
8.) Sapnap, definitely. I like unhinged characters, and I like characters that can be calm headed in bad situations. The guy can be both!
9.) A snippet, you say…? How about this one? It's a bit of a continuation to Bees, when the Dream team are better acquaintances and George and Dream actually start to hang out with Sapnap.
"You've got–you've got five eyes?" Sapnap’s eyebrows creased, and he cocked his head at the hybrid.
Dream laughed and raised a hand to push up his fringe of hair. Indeed, there was a tiny, vertical fifth eye slitted in the middle of his forehead.
"Yep, but I don't use it much. My two main eyes do the same as the fifth.”
10.) I don't believe so? There is a thing I like to do, tho, cause I think it's funny. If I mess up the tag 'reblog' and misspell it like 'renlog' or 'reblig' I like to add fuck immediately after : D

WIP Report 5/30/22
It’s been a while since I did an update on what I’m working on so even though this makes me cringe a little because it’s not super great news, here we go. 😂
Overall, the news is not so great, everything is moving slow. I haven’t been doing WIP Wednesdays and SSS as much because if I do you guys will literally be reading the chapters as their written, only choppy and out of order. I’m just not making enough big chunks of progress to have something to share every week. I’m still recovering from the issue I had in January (long story short, I had a pulmonary embolism that damaged my lungs, and while I should fully recover, it takes time to regenerate lungs and rebuild stamina, so even now months later I get tired out really easily, and the string of colds the kids have brought home haven’t really helped). Add to that summer vacation for the children and my daughter’s ongoing GI issues and all its related doctor’s appointments, I’m just short on time and both physical and emotional energy. I know, I don’t actually have to tell you all this and no one can get mad at me for real life coming first, but I like to keep you guys posted, especially when things slow down as drastically as they have of late.
Anyway, as summertime is beginning it means another set of schedule adjustments for my family, and it remains to be seen whether that will mean more time, less, or about the same.
Indelible - This is still my first priority, and I feel like the end is in sight! At the same time, it’s grown hugely from my original concept so I could very well be wrong about that. I honestly thought it was mostly done when I started posting it but my original draft is probably only a quarter of what ended up being the final story. I hope that, after the chapter I’m currently working on, the next few bits will skip along a bit faster, but I have to look at what’s already written and see what adjustments need to be made based on how the story’s changed so far. But, we’re deep into this thing now and I’m gonna see it through one way or another.
Guard My Heart will be next up on the list because I seriously owe Mal big time for taking so long on it; I should know by now I can’t handle more than one big ongoing story at a time, so I should’ve waited to start Indelible until this one is finished (but again, I thought it was mostly done at the time, I didn’t realize I’d still be posting a year later 😅). I do have a pretty good chunk of the next chapter written, and the one after that, so I hope once I buckle down on it I can make it happen.
The Magic of You is also hanging out there taunting me, but I’m kind of letting it sit for now because I feel like I stopped it at a good place at the time, so I’m not as worried about it. I could have ended the story there and been fine, so the only reason it’s continuing is I still have ideas for it. I don’t mind if it sits for a bit.
Live With It part 2 can’t seem to make up its mind what it wants to be, and it should be so simple to finish, so I expect that one day I will get a random weekend burst of inspiration/motivation to finish it off, and who knows when it will happen. I expect to spend a lot of time in the car this summer so there should be plenty of thinky time.
Beautiful Dreams...sigh. Someday. I don’t know how it always ends up on the bottom of the list because I really love this story and want to finish it, and whenever I go read some of what I have for it I’m like *augh I love this I need to work on it some more* but we’ll get there eventually. This is the one story I would be truly heartbroken not to finish.
So those are the major things I’m working on right now, and I usually don’t let myself get this far in the weeds on published works so I’ve really cut down on my one shots, prompt fics, sprint fics, and everything else in an attempt to dig myself out of this whole. I’m trying to ease up on that a bit; I think it’ll do me and my readers both good to break up these long efforts with some light hearted quick things. But, that’s where things stand for the moment. ANYWAYS!
I have mentioned in this post that I have an AU that might be contender for the first fic I would write in this fandom. And because I taking some time right now to have fun instead of looking at my to-do task list, we gonna talk about this AU now.
In general what it is about? Time Travel (Fix?? It???) (maybe time loop situation) + wwx as wrh’s grandson AU. With a a big spoonful of wwx&wrh’s relationship looking like ra’s&tim in Red Robin

Okokokokok… That’s what I have at the moment in the doc (only fic planning, sorry :< ):
The fic should start from wrh POV, from the moment he’s dying. Or in the moment between death and reincarnation? (I’m aware that there might be some steps before he can get reincarnated, but I do not know them yet)
So, he’s in this in-between state and thanks to resentful energy (+ maybe something) he gets to review his life, see what went wrong… thanks to that he learns that wwx is his grandson also… and by the end of this review the resentful energy/some higer being/idfk asks him:
“Would you like to re-do your life?”
And he’s like “yes? of fucking course?”
(I wanted to add there some monkey-paw kind of question, but right now, I have no idea.)
So, wrh is re-doing his life, while remembering his first clearly. He’s still power hungry egomaniac.
He’s meeting wwx’s grandma, but this time tries her to woo better so maybe she would stay with him instead of going to train with the Immortal Baoshan Sanren, but welp. She still left him, while pregnant with his child.
Welp! He tried!
(And yes, I’m this vague take on wwx’s grandma/wrh romance take from mentioned above fic - and also from the fic it was inspired from)
Life goes on, wrh maybe makes little changes, but he’s not in the hurry.
(In the meantime I want him to focus himself, or Wen’s rewsources on making some kind of DNA test xD Like, I assume there are treasures and other things opened by specific blood, why can’t there be some kind of DNA test?)
Then we go to the moment Cangse Sanren goes down the mountain to see the world! The moment he hears about Immortal’s student he goes to meet her. Usually he tries to meet her when she’s alone, so he could be like “you know that I’m your father? no, seriously, you are my spawn”, but as you can imagine Cangse find him suspicious and - with more night hunts he “happened to join” and his help - she begrundgigly starts to accept that he’s not going away.
“But that doesn’t mean I’m joining your sect! I didn’t became wandering cultivator to join any sect, especially yours! Besides mam told me to watch out for my weird father (but she expected him to day at this point), AND ALSO…!” Cangse shouts, while Wen Ruohan nods. He’s patient, she doesn’t have to join right now, they have neutral-to good rapport with each other, so it’s ok. Besides, she needs to meet that Wei guy to give him a grandson.
Time flies, Cangse met said Wei guy, they have fallen in love… And because this is serious, Cangse decides to share her secret with him and tells him, that she’s Sect Leader Wen’s oldest(?) child.
Wei Changze takes this seriously too, so he tell her his secret, that he’s Jiang Fengmian half-brother.

So they fallen in love, got married (would or would not wrh demand to be during the wedding…? hmm…), got a-ying.
And, ok, maybe few times they met wrh in between (and he “invited them” and “suggested” numerous times, that they perhaps stay in his sect? Especially with the kid?), but in general they preferred to be family of wandering cultivators.
…until Wei Ying was, like…2? 3? They started thinking that taking little baby with them for night hunts or leaving with strangers maybe isn’t the best solution. Maybe they should use some help from the sect, don’t they have contacts, especially in the big 5? But where to go?
Yunmeng Jiang? …but what if they realize the connection between jfm and wcz and decide that wei ying might be a competition for jiang cheng?
Quinghe Nie? …but what if they realize the connection between cangze and wrh and decide to use it?
Gusu Lan? …do they really want to rise their kid with the Lans? And didn’t something happened recently with their Sect Leader to make Lan Quiren be now overworked? And how can they trust the rest of their elders?
Lanling Jin? …and jin guangshan? how about no
some smaller sect? …but do they really like having wandering cultivators join their sect, especially those that openly refused their invitations and/or criticized their conduct and have connections to two of big five sect that could be used for nefarious purpouses if they realize?
Quishan Wen? …ah, fuck, I guess? Besides annoying (also megalomaniac, power hungry and egoistic) father/father-in-law it doesn’t sounds too horrifying? And wrh seems to like being grandfather what with him asking for more grandchildren quite often. Like, wei ying couldn’t be safer.
So, they started staying with wrh for certain periods of time, still being wandering cultivators (didn’t join the sect, also no official announcment of cangse being related to ruohan), but at least they could leave wei ying with someone they were sure would take care of him.
So, wrh is quite content with his life… until something starts happeneing, some time after wei ying turn four.
You see, Wen Ruohan had a problem. His cute grandson that adored him started to hate him. Little Wei Ying either cried on his sight or was (very adorably) pouting when left with him. What did Wen Ruohan did? He had no idea.
He tried everything he knew and learned about toddlers. He even started to bargain with him, but while wei ying took the sweets he soon was ignored anew. That damn brat.
By some weird cracky incident (I do not know yet how his synapses connected to make this thoughts), he started wondering if the little wei ying might be like him - a time traveler. Because, what would suddenly make the toddler stand against him, if he didn’t remember him as enemy number one?
So he tries to use the fact that toddlers aren’t really good with controlling their emotions, and name drops something that would be know only in their timeline, and the results might surprise you.
Then we go into the second part of the story and different POV
As you perhaps guessed at this point, wei wuxian is ALSO a time traveler who got similar deal as wen ruohan (and with monkey paw scenario he perhaps asked for something else, but the result was the same), and it also happened the moment he died.
(*I checked the notes, and originally I had that at the beginning/wrh death wrh also learns about events after his death up to wwx death. Idk why, maybe because I wanted him to see that he took wen remnants. Don’t know if I’ll go with it in the end)
Ok, so wwx re-started his life (OH, and I remembered! In monkey paw scenario, wwx asked to be with his Family this time :) maybe he thought about wens, maybe jiangs or maybe his parents but definitely didn’t include wrh in this!). He restarted his life, but people start remembering things when they are around 4? So, around 4 years old he started remembering his old life and realizing that he’s now living in the Wen Sect with wrh as his grandfather was quite a surprise, you can imagine.
So, as he is getting older and remembering more, he decides that he could use the opportunity and… maybe stop the war? or something?
Attempt the Impossible, right?
Well, as he gets older he also gets more suspicious in wrh’s eyes. Of course, you can blame the chaos in his study and paperwork on wei ying being energetic and michievious toddler, but wrh remembers the war related files being hidden-not in the open, and leaving wei ying with nanny many rooms further from this study.
At some point they both realize that they both are time travelers, so imagine spider meme when that happens.
Also, what I’m writing this for, really:

wwx and wrh: <3 cute grandson and grandfather bonding time <3
cangse and wcz: *stop looking at them*
wwx and wrh: *wwx tries to cut wrh’s throat while wrh hold him away from him by the ankle*
