The practice of making the ascent to the cave beneath the Witch's Horn fell out of use after 10 BBY. The lair, once the roost of the chirodactyl called Gorgara, retains hydraatis acid markings left by former Nightbrothers who made the journey up the peak.
Startling examples of early offerings have been preserved in the cave: tokens for the chirodactyl made in exchange for the health and protection of the brothers, suggesting a practice in sympathetic magic, or that there was a shared belief that the chirodactyl — one of the oldest of its species on Dathomir — may have possessed magical powers.
Several of the pictographs have been smeared with mushling inks to simulate Nightbrother markings, and many have faded paints in place to suggest variations of goldenrod, brown, butter yellow, and crimson skin. The most daring and elaborate pictographs must have taken hours to etch, the risk to self less than the dangers presented to those Nightbrothers requiring supernatural aid.
Dathomir's "brotherhood", it seems, extends beyond concern for the individual, often petitioning the creature to grant favour to those in need: wellness, good fortune, safe keeping for the smallest and most vulnerable of the Nightbrother warriors subject to the dangers of their world.

Zabraks and Biting
Maybe it was instinct, maybe something left over after years and years. Even still it was not uncommon that Zabrak significant other would be littered with bites.
Slightly sharper teeth that leave indents upon flesh. Should the bite be a bit too deep there is gentle care to tend to the bite, however a bit of pride that the mark will be there for some time.
Often upon thier love’s neck, shoulder....at times some others with bites all about them.
Their fingers tracing the bite with a grin on thier lips and question if another is needed as this one will soon fade?

Savage Opress is a freaking alpha male. He’s the peak specimen of Nightbrother masculinity. And he knows it. Being changed by Talzin’s magick definitely had draw backs but he in no way minded some of the perks. Getting shy glances from Nightsisters and jealous Nightbrothers (some of those are admiring too if we’re being very honest, but he’s only interested in females.) Still. Savage enjoys the attention. The fact that his desirability keeps him alive… well. That helps too.

Val x Savage as Parents HCs
Because the thought of it is so adorable
Savage being a crying mess when his daughter Mara was born and Val in awe seeing how tiny she is in his arms
Their second child Kali being the trouble maker daughter and Val being the one to discipline her every time Brother Viscus caught her doing something
When their third child was born, it was a son; and Savage got emotional when he decided to name him Feral
Zejinn being their youngest child and third daughter and Savage would dote on her like he did with his other two daughters
Savage being the one to teach all four of them the ways of the Force while Val is the one that teaches the kids some basics like hunting, cooking, etc

Honour: A Maul Headcanon
- You learned how he prefers wrapping his arms from the knuckles halfway to his shoulder: where he prefers to fold and knot the banding, and where he tucks the pieces in so they don’t come loose when he’s training, or fighting. This study you learned through observation, which surprised him the first time you knelt and took the banding from his fingers, setting about the work of it while he watched you in silence. It was perfect. You’ve become so adept at the job, that he waits for you to prepare him — like the wrapping of his arms is part of a readying ritual that only the two of you share.
- You learned how to care for his horns from Savage, and regrettably, that was after Skywalker took a swipe to his head. The damage is lasting, and no salve can fix it, but while Savage often neglects himself, his care for his brothers runs deeper: he taught you the preparation methods for the unguents, and where to press to relive tension around the bases, and which file should be used to smooth the edges of their wear. You took to treating Maul at each third lunation: a scalp massage, a little shaping, some precious oils to soothe him. He accepted your care begrudgingly, at first, but it was also the first time you made him purr.
- The first time you knelt for him, he was making adjustments to his legs. A bolt loose, a rusted screw — nothing particularly challenging, save for the adjustments made to his gait, and the pressure on his waist when the connections against his flesh became too great. He thought you had other sordid things in mind, and you remember clearly the way he smirked before you took up the wrench and tapped him on the knee. He sobered then, and showed you the various parts of himself that needed tightening, and oil, and verification that fluid wasn’t backing up in the joints of his knees. He taught you to tighten, and to drain, and to screw the pieces of himself that were hard to reach. Afterward, still a little stunned that you were so attentive to his needs, he proceeded to give your parts a thorough investigation too — sat up on one of his knees while he held you in place.
- The cane was a prestige from the start, but despite Maul’s “philosophy of pain” and the litany of his Sith training, there are times where it’s obvious that he’s funnelling feelings to better divert himself than dealing with the obvious side-effects of being bisected and fused to metal legs. You don’t often see it, and there isn’t an awful lot you can do when it creates discomfort to even touch him, but occasionally, in the little hours when he lets you, you walk with him, and let him remember that even being half a man is more than most can offer, and Maul is always quadruple that much if that. It’s never been a hindrance, and it’s never been a regret, but he lets it fuel him, and he never lets himself forget. There is a little spot between his lower vertebrae, however, that if you press into it with your thumbs just right, he’ll groan and rock his head back, murmuring little appreciative obscenities that you’ve taken pressure off the nerve.
- You owe it to Feral’s studies into Sith Alchemy, gleaned from a number of stolen texts from who-knows-where, that let you manipulate the ichor on Dathomir. It was meant to be a gesture: a little something to show Maul that you cared, but the amulet you forged ended up perhaps a little more potent than anticipated. At first he wasn’t sure what to make of it, but he humoured you, and tried it on. He wears it all the time now — one part vow, one part talisman — hung around his neck with his sigil. When asked, he won’t disclose exactly the particulars of what it does, and most would just assume it’s an ostentatious bit of jewelry, but you both know when he touches his fingers to it, it’s time to depart your company and hasten to the bedroom. He’s shown his gratitude several times over by putting it to use with you; what was once taken from him is now Maul’s once more, and yours too, if you’ve been good.

There is nothing more than Savage loves than having all his little lemon loaves in his arms.
It might be one of few good things that have come out of his transformation. He is able to have all three of them in his arms with little effort!
It’s just fantastic being able to hold one but knowing that he is getting hold them all? He’s just ecstatic! It really helps as they like to curl up on his chest at night. He doesn’t care that they are getting a little heavier, he gets to hold them and make sure they know he’s here with them....

If not black, which color of choice would the siths outfit themselves in?
dark grey
vader: let’s face it, he’s a goddamn Depressed Bastard. if he’s not in black, he’d probably be in a color so dark it’s barely distinguishable from black. perhaps a very dark red.
sidious: we’ve already seen this bastard in things outside of black. marvelous purples look excellent on the senate.
maul: it might not be his go-to at first, but eventually he discovers that white looks very good on him! especially if combined with a darker red (darker than his skin). i think he’d be open to some funky color accents as well.
savage: he looks handsome in blue, especially navy! i think he’d favor grey as a neutral color, or very warm browns.
asajj: red or purple! what can she say? it complements her skin tone. she might even reach for pink every now and then, but it will probably be a dusty rose (not hot pink, ew).
dooku: he’d probably stick to a wide range of neutrals, as befitting an older man like himself. though the count would definitely use a splash of color here and there to complete his outfits.
kylo: as much as he would deny it, kylo would favor blues and purples much like his mother does in her older years. of course he’s gotta be edgy and wear bright-ass red every now and then.
nihilus: he likes combining a lot of colors, as long as there are neutrals/subdued hues to prevent it from looking garish. kind of like kente---colorful without blinding your eyes in the process.
grievous: autumn colors are his favorites, as well as beige to complement them. one of his most treasured gifts was a red/orange/gold scarf from dooku (not because it was from him, because the scarf was very cute).
inquisitor: i think he would be subconsciously influenced by his old jedi temple uniform...gold and whites are lovely colors indeed. otherwise, he’d probably go with the classic pau’an reds.
lana: we already know she’s a fan of green, especially subdued/mossy green. i think she would enjoy earthy tones in general, as long as they’re not too bold or gaudy.

You walked hand in hand around the great lake. It was quite a hot summer day. The sun was beating down and a walk to the lake was a good idea. Savage made sure that he always walked next to you so that he could protect you from the sun with his size. At least it brought some cooling. You collected some flowers along the way and put them in a small bag. "What are you going to do with it?" asked the muscular Zabrak. "You'll see!" you replied with a smile.
You came to a nice, shady place right on the water. Savage sat behind you, his legs stretched out beside you and his large hands pressed against your stomach. You could put your feet in the water. It was pleasant. You tinker with the flowers you found. He kept trying to get a glimpse of whatever you're tinkering with. You were able to successfully fend off his looks with your body. "Savage..." you had started in a stern tone. "Wait darling. It's almost done." He pressed against your back. Who would have thought that such a giant of a Zabrak could be so in need of love.
After a while, you jump out of his tight hug and Savage jumps a bit. He must have fallen asleep. Holding a ring of flowers in your hand, you turn to him and hold it in front of his face. "What do you think?" He blinked, puzzled. "For me? What am I supposed to do with that?" You released a sigh and put the ring on his horns. "A flower crown for my lover." Savage smiled and hugged you. He took one of your hands and placed a kiss on it. "Thank you, my little flower." Then he grabbed you by the hips, stood up and carried you very energetically. "Hey, slow down!" but the warning came too late. Out of all the joy, Savage must have forgotten about the lake, fell over his own feet and you both fell into the water. He looked a little startled and blinked the water out of his eyes. It wasn't deep so you two could sit in it and you sat on his lap as he hugged you even tighter as he fell to protect you from the fall. He instinctively clutched his flower crown. "Is it still sitting?" he turned to you worried. You had to laugh at the sight. You put your hands on your shoulders and kiss his forehead lovingly. "Everything perfect, love."
