Someone explore Bad Batch Actor AU with me in what kind of bloopers there would be and set shenanigans:
-Omega accidentally breaks the lever opening the brig, she tried to awkwardly put it back
-Tech keeps accidentally breaking the Marauder steering wheel off when he does the drifting turns
-many dance parties during scene setups
-Echo misses the scomp port and puts it through the prop wall instead, he tries to keep playing the scene as normal
-Crosshair keeps making Hunter laugh during serious scenes
-Hunter keeps ruining the finale scenes by hugging Crosshair instead of his actual lines
-Echo falling in the water was absolutely not planned but they kept it in cause it was funny
-Rex tripped like 5 times trying to film him walking into and out of fog
-Wrecker knocking his head on the pipe at Saleucami was unplanned and they kept it in, Rex was laughing on the sides telling the set designers that he was right about them placing pipes too low
-Wrecker stomping the elevator down was unplanned as it actually did get stuck
-Palpatine rose into the senate with a milkshake in hand for one take
-They play pranks on Rampart making him laugh in his scenes
-Omega and any of the Batch lounging on set during scene setup in sunglasses
-Cad Bane letting Omega wear his hat between takes
-Wrecker accidentally held Omega up too high during the pod rescue scene and hit her head on the set ceiling making everyone laugh
-Someone’s mask fell off in the middle of a scene during Ordo Moon filming, they immediately went into over exaggerated dying
(Any more are welcome 😂)

Carol of the Cookies (Captain Rex x reader)
Tumblr media
For @diviluscorner in the @cloneficgiftexchange. I had so much fun writing this and I hope y'all enjoy it ❤️
Prompt: Baking Cookies
Warnings: F reader, kids, family bonding, fluffy, domesticity, everyone lives au, not explicitly holiday but has the vibes
~~~~~~~
“Buir! Buir!”
Rex stopped taking off his snow boots and looked down the hallway to see his little girl, Mariel,  running towards him at full speed. She jumped into his arms, giggling when he caught her. He smiled at her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“What have you been up to my little trooper?” He asked her, attempting to remove his snow gear while still holding her.
“We went to the library and mama let us pick out some books!” The 6 year old ecstatically explained.
“Really? I hope you picked out something you really liked.” Rex hummed as he took off his scarf and hat.
“I did. I picked a book about stars!”
“That sounds great sweetie. Hey, how about you go to mama while I finish taking off my boots?”
Mariel nodded before jumping down and taking off down the hall towards the kitchen. Rex finished taking off his boots as promised, then shrugged off his jacket. He took a moment to look at a picture hung on the wall, a picture of his family, something that he thought that he never had. He then moved down the hall, toward the kitchen, toward you.
You were like a saving grace for him.
 He’d met you at a bar called 79s one blurry night so long ago. You were working the bar and had somehow found his drunk flirting charming enough to give him your com. He remembered sending you an apology the day after, the embarrassment he felt when his brothers recounted what happened was soul crushing. He felt less bad about it when you ended up inviting him for a cup of caf. And the rest, as they say, was history.
The war ended, and he proposed. The two of you moved to Saleucami and got a small farm, trading the food you grew at the market. Then little Mariel was born.
Rex walked into the kitchen and smiled at what he saw. You were trying to keep Mariel from eating the cookie dough that you were making. He watched as you gently pushed her hand away from the bowl, scolding her for trying to eat it. Rex went over and reached into the, taking just a little bit of the cookie dough and eating it.
“That is not for you either.” You playfully glared at him.
“Well then why is it so delicious?” Mariel refuted, arms crossed and face pouting.
“You can’t eat all the raw cookie dough, sweetie. Or there won’t be anything to decorate, later.” You told her as you took the bowl of cookie dough to another counter to roll it out.
Your daughter gave a gasp at the realization. Rex chuckled at it. It would be absolutely devastating if there were no cookies to decorate.
“How about you go get your new book to show me?” Rex suggested to her.
“Okay!” Mariel rushed out of the kitchen.
“She was so happy to get that book.” You told your husband as you rolled out the cookie dough.
“I bet.” Rex grinned, then wrapped his arms around you. “So, how was your day?”
“Fine. She was very hyperactive after her nap. How was your trip to the market?”
“Good. Got a great price for those meilooruns.”
You hummed in response. Rex tightened his arms, resting his head on your shoulder. He watched as you rolled the dough, then grabbed one of the many cookie cutters on the counter.
“I missed you while I was gone, cyare.” Your husband admitted, then placed a kiss on your cheek.
“You were only gone for a few hours, dear.” You mused, cutting a few cookies in the shape of a snowman.
“Yeah, but I still missed you and Mariel.”
“Well, we missed you too.” You smiled and turned your head, giving him a small kiss on the lips before returning to your task.
Mariel came running into the kitchen, her book in hand. She excitedly held it up for her father to see. Rex peeled himself off of you to attend to your daughter. She happily took her father to the living room, where they sat on the couch and she read the book to him. You finished cutting the cookies and put them in the oven. You smiled to yourself as you thought about how
You went to the living room and smiled when you saw your daughter sitting on the sofa reading her book to her father. Rex was paying all his attention to her as she read. He was patient and encouraging as she read, making sure she pronounced every word correctly. You decided to let them have this moment of bonding, going back into the kitchen to start some dishes while Rex kept the little one entertained.
After around 15 minutes, the cookies were done. Mariel came running in when the timer went off. She pouted when you told she had to wait until the cookies cooled off to decorate them.
“You can decorate the cookies later. Now, how about you get your favorite pajamas on and then you pick out a holo movie to watch. When that’s done, the cookies will be ready to decorate.” You suggested to the 6 year old.
She seemed content with the idea. She ran off to her room. Rex went into the kitchen to help with the dishes while you set up the holoscreen for Mariel to pick a holomovie to watch. Mariel came back rather quickly, dressed in her blue pajamas. She excitedly picked a film about a magic tooka, then ran to the kitchen to decorate cookies.
You helped her when she wanted it, but all in all left her to her vision of what the snowman should look like. You and your husband decorated about four cookies each, while your daughter decorated the majority of them. She made a colorful mess with the icing but was so happy with how the cookies turned out.
“Buir! Momma! You have to try one!” Mariel insisted, handing a cookie to each of you. You took a bite, while Rex (with his massive sweet tooth) shoved the whole thing into his mouth.
You praised your daughter for how good the cookies looked and tasted. Rex watched and smiled to himself.
He wouldn’t trade this for anything.
baby!Omega AU, set right after s1e1 on their way to Saleucami. inspired by a tweet by clonekisser over on twitter! i tried to give each boy a solid moment with Omega, but you know i had to stick with Dad Hunter. 1% angst 99% fluff
-
Hunter thought getting Omega off Kamino was supposed to be the hard part.
And it was hard; by the Force, it was hard. Coming back, finding her, getting stuffed in the brig with her and his brothers. Crosshair’s rant about good soldiers causes Omega to whine and fuss in his arms. It’s bad enough, but when the guards come to whisk Crosshair away, the blow they land to Hunter’s shoulder (so close to her, so close, it’s like they don’t even see her, it’s like they don’t even care--) makes her start wailing. He’s lucky enough Echo steps in and helps calm her down while he catches his breath.
“Where’s the other? And the girl?” the guard asks later, once Tech has shimmied himself and Omega into the wall vents.
“Harm her and you’re a dead man,” Echo snarls back, and it sounds personal.
After what feels like eternity, they make it to the hangar. Tech is smart enough to swipe some formula and Echo snags a bottle-- (why is all this baby stuff discarded with the rest of their gear? what were they planning on doing with her had Clone Force 99 not come back?)-- but an unfortunate interruption from their brother slows things down.
“Have you lost your mind?”
“We should’ve killed that Jedi, and...” His sharp eyes flicker over to the bundle of fabric hastily strapped to Tech’s back, as if wordlessly finishing the sentence, and in that moment Hunter knows his brother isn’t well.
“I did what I thought was right.” His heart hurts.
Thank the Maker Tech manages to slip into the ship before the real blaster fire starts. They escape, some more battered than others, into the safety of hyperspace.
But now they’re here, and somehow things aren’t any better than they were before.
Hunter first blamed Omega’s fussiness on Wrecker’s very vocal displeasure to Echo’s nursing skills. “You’re scaring her!” he hissed, and Wrecker did his best to swallow back his yelps of pain with about a fifty percent success rate.
But roughly 18 hours later, he’s confident their baby sister has barely blinked, let alone slept, and he just doesn’t know what to do.
“Come on, sweetheart, just let me...” he grumbles, trying his best to steer a fresh bottle towards her pouting mouth. She whines, turning her head this way and that, milk merely dribbling down her chin and missing her mouth entirely. He sighs in frustration.
“It is her first time in space,” Tech pipes up, unhelpfully, from the other room.
“Her first time anywhere,” corrects Echo, sitting in his bunk across Hunter’s. As funny as it was to watch him struggle the first few hours, he’s starting to get a pit in his stomach now. Both Hunter and Omega are exhausted, and it shows. The baby hasn’t stopped fussing since before they left the planet. She’s got to be hungry, so why doesn’t she just eat?
Hunter sighs a full body breath as he shifts her closer, turning to lay back in his microbunk. Omega is resting on his chest now-- she looks comfortable, but she does not fall sleep.
“Hunter, she’s a child. What are we gonna do with her?”
What is there to do? Echo’s right. She’s a child, a baby. Defenseless. Despite how exhausted he is, and how frustrating her cries have become, the idea of her in anybody else’s arms, in anybody else’s ship, makes him feel sick to his stomach.
“We’re going to protect her,” he says simply, and Echo allows the answer for now. They stay there for a few silent moments, and just as hope starts to form that maybe she’s drifted off, Omega begins to whimper into Hunter’s chest. Hunter huffs and sits up.
“Echo, why don’t you take her?” He rubs his eye with his free hand. “Maybe she’s just getting sick of me.”
Echo freezes. Keeping Omega safe and close to him during a mission is one thing, but in the Marauder where she’s already safe? He looks at her, then down at his scomp hand. He finds himself shaking his head.
“I don’t know, Hunter... I’ll probably just make it worse.” She’ll probably be scared of me, he thinks to himself.
“Only one way to find out.” And with that, Omega is gently placed in his arms.
Echo instinctively cradles her. He feels like he might break her, at first, and cringes when his metal arm brushes up against her back. Instead of the screaming he expected, she coos and looks up at him with her impossibly large brown eyes. He looks back down at her, and any questions he had about Hunter’s motives disappear completely.
He gets it now.
“She likes you.” Echo doesn’t have to look up to know Hunter is grinning. He hates being wrong, but in this instance he’ll make an exception.
“Omega,” Echo says slowly. Their sister. His sister. She just blinks at him. Does she know? The fact they’re her brothers, the fact they’re en route to an entirely new planet (the fact Echo would burn down the entirely galaxy if it dared try to hurt her)?
Hunter grabs the previously forgotten bottle and crouches next to them. “Let me see if she’ll eat something, now that she’s calmed down.”
I did that? Echo can’t help but think. He watches his brother gently put the bottle to Omega’s mouth, who whines and turns her head away. Her eyes become teary almost instantly at the mere audacity at the attempt. Hunter swears under his breath.
“Sorry,” Echo says sadly, as if it’s his fault. Hunter shakes his head.
“Something’s wrong. Tech told me babies have to eat every few hours, but it’s been nearly a day. She’s going to starve.”
Omega fusses even more at Hunter’s defeated tone. Echo rocks her a little, which keeps the tears at bay, but she’s not happy. “Do you think... do you think she’s scared?”
“Scared? Probably. But I figure a scared baby would be screaming and crying, not just...” Hunter waves his hand at Omega, who’s busying herself with staring at the ceiling.
“Staring,” Echo says to no one in particular. “Not... sleeping. Not eating.”
It sounds eerily familiar. Out of the corner of his eye, Echo sees his brother tug at a lock of his long brown hair. A habit reserved for when he’s really, really stressed. He’s only done it a few times in Echo’s time working with Force 99. It rarely spells anything good for them.
“Maybe this Cut guy can help?”
“Force, I hope. But he’s still a half day away.”
Right. Not to mention actually finding the guy, if they do at all. There’s no guarantees anymore. Echo finds himself resting his cheek atop Omega’s curly straw-blonde hair. He lets himself wonder, will her hair stay blonde, like Rex, or darken up like his own did? Will her eyes stay wide and curious, like dear Fives, or narrow into something more serious, like Cody? He misses the rest of his brothers so achingly, but Omega’s roulette wheel of features somehow reminds him of all of them at once.
Speaking of brothers...
“I’m baaack!” Comes the thunderous roar of the one and only Wrecker. Hunter is on his feet in an instant, hushing Wrecker and waving his hands wildly to hopefully keep him from storming in too loudly.
“Whaaat, I want to see the baby!” he whines, only managing to drop his volume a little. Omega wriggles in Echo’s arms, and he turns to harshly hush his brother as well.
“She’s not going anywhere, Wrecker, so tone is down before you make her cry!”
It’s a little snippy, he admits, but he and Hunter and exhausted and-- as much of a relief it is to see Wrecker up and walking again after his meeting with Crosshair’s blaster fire-- they’ve little patience for this excess energy. This seems to get across to Wrecker, who’s smile falters and he hunches in on himself.
“Sorry,” he whispers. He catches a glimpse of his little sister from over Echo’s shoulder, though, and his smile immediately lights back up. “Can I see her, though? Please?”
Hunter and Echo exchange glances and Echo can feel Hunter’s anxiety starting to bristle. Wrecker would never, ever hurt a sibling, let alone a baby... on purpose, that is.
“You’ve got to be very, very careful,” Hunter says seriously, using his Sergeant tone to make sure to point gets across.
This would usually earn a sarcastic remark from Wrecker, but he only nods excitedly as Hunter carefully moves Omega from Echo’s arms to his own. The room is uncharacteristically silent. Wrecker gingerly scoops the baby from his brother’s grasp, and sits on the floor with her.
Tiny. It’s the only word that even gives merit to how infinitely smaller she is compared to her big brother. His hand is nearly large enough to cradle her in one palm, but he instead rests her against his shoulder and bounces her with a newfound gentleness. He strokes down her back with two fingers, and Hunter thinks he can see her eyes start drooping.
“Hi, baby sister,” Wrecker murmurs, “It’s nice to meet you.” The other two swear they’ve never heard him speak so silently. Even on stealth missions he’s struggling to keep his voice down, but now...
He readjusts so they are looking at one another. Just as she did with Echo, she gazes up curiously with her brown planet-like eyes, and he can’t help but stare back. She gurgles and coos loudly, breaking the silence, and Wrecker laughs.
Then, suddenly, so does she.
It’s a feedback loop. Her tiny giggles make his body shake with loud, genuine laughter, and the sound of him makes her nearly shriek with joy. She reaches up with her tiny, chubby hands, waving at his scrunched up face and grabbing at his nose. He lifts her, giving her free range of his face, and he laughs some more when she playfully smacks against his cheek. She grabs his lip, tugs downwards, and thinks it’s the funniest thing in the universe.
From behind them, Tech quickly appears at the doorway, and his eyes are wide behind his goggles. He looks up at Echo and Hunter, as if to ask, How did you manage this? They can only shake their heads and shrug, though they themselves are chuckling at the ridiculous scene before them.
Soon everyone is smiling. Here, together, protecting one another.
(if only, if only, if only Crosshair was here, surely this would convince him, and everything would be okay)
Like all good things, Omega’s giggle fit eventually ended, and Wrecker had to hand his baby sister back to Hunter before his legs fell asleep and he could no longer walk (he’d learned this the hard way before). Though not laughing, an innocent and gummy smile remains on her face, causing Hunter to melt a little more than he thought possible. He sits back on his bunk with her, where he closes his eyes in hopes of resting at least a little. He does, but it’s fleeting. He feels Omega start to squirm. He cracks open one eye, and notices she’s locked eyes with the bottle on Echo’s bed and is waving her hands at it. His eyebrow raises.
“You hungry?” he asks her, and decides to give the bottle one last shot. He grabs it, shakes it up, and offers it to her... she latches onto it and starts drinking eagerly. Had she not been in his arms, he would have stood up and cheered out loud. Instead, he focuses on not letting her drink too fast, and making sure she’s able to finish without making too much of a mess.
“This is most exciting news,” comes an even voice from the entrance. Echo and Wrecker had gone back to the cockpit, and there stands Tech, watching Omega finish her first meal since before the jump to hyperspace.
“You have no idea,” Hunter sighs. He puts the now empty bottle down and uses his sleeve to wipe excess milk from her face.
“I do. I was getting increasingly worried about Omega’s wellbeing.” Tech adjusts his goggles, and sits on the opposite bunk. He looks intently at the baby in front of him. “I came in to tell you I’ve constructed a bassinet for her.”
“You did?”
“Up in the gunner’s mount. I figured now is when our guns would be used the least. There’s enough room for her, and for one of us to rest next to her.” He clears his throat. “Ah, well, you, Echo, or myself. Wrecker, not so much.”
Hunter swallows quietly. “Thank you, Tech. That means a lot to me-- us.”
Tech tips his head in a soft nod. “Now’s a good time as any to test it out.”
“Huh?” Hunter looks down and, sure enough, Omega is fast asleep. A second wave of relief hits him hard. He blinks rapidly for just a moment, and Tech politely pretends he doesn’t notice.
“Would you like me to take her?” Tech outstretches his hand in offer. Hunter glances between him and the baby. The deep instinctual (and granted, selfish) part of him wants to refuse and keep her infinitely close to himself. But realistically, he needs a break, if only a tiny one. So, he nods.
“Yes, please.” Tech takes her, ever so gently, and she doesn’t even stir. “I’m gonna wash up, then I’ll meet you up in the mount.”
They do exactly that. Hunter shuffles his way to the fresher, where he washes his face and heaves a sigh into the towel. The excitement of Omega’s milestone is wearing off, and he’s exhausted all over again.
Tech so carefully lowers Omega into the hand-crafted bassinet. Though it’s made from scrap materials, he does not fret over its structural integrity. He would settle for nothing less than what would keep their sister as safe as the galaxy will allow. He strokes her cheek with the back of his ungloved hand. Never did he think he’d feel this way about a sibling that wasn’t his immediate batch mate. As completely irresponsible, illogical, and impractical it is to bring an infant on board a ship meant for battle, cared for by soldiers bred for war... he can’t bring himself to care.
“Hey,” Hunter says softly as he steps up the ladder, as not to spook either of them. Tech does not look away from Omega, but he does tilt his head to show he hears him. “I can take over now.”
“I... am not sure I want to leave.”
Hunter chuckles. “Am I going to have to order you down from there?”
Tech finally cracks a smile and looks at him. “Maybe. I suppose good soldiers follow orders.” It’s laced with sarcasm and Hunter rolls his eyes dramatically. The corner of his mouth twitches at the phrase, but he ignores the strange, unfamiliar feeling (it’s probably just nerves from the last 24 hours and nothing more, nothing less) and switches spots with Tech so that he’s right beside the crib.
“We all need to get some rest before we’re planetside,” he instructs. “Tell Wrecker he’s taking first shift since he slept all day.”
Tech gives him a wordless affirming salute. He glances back at the sleeping Omega one last time, then hops down to make his way to the cockpit.
It’s just the two of them now. Hunter rolls over and props himself up on his elbow so he can gaze into the bed. Everything about her is... perfect. How is it possible she’s a genetic carbon copy of the rest of them? The clones, they have flaws, and imperfections, and problems. But not her. She’s so flawless it makes his chest hurt as if he made her himself.
She opens and closes her mouth a little, like she’s dreaming of a fresh bottle. He pets down one of her blonde curls, watching it spring back up again, then rests his calloused palm against her head. His thumb rubs up and down just above her tiny, almost translucent eyebrow.
“Goodnight, Omega,” he whispers.
He lays down on the spare pillows Tech had kindly tucked against the wall. Soon, they will be landing on Saleucami, and meeting up with their old friend. He knows there is where their adventure will continue.
He can only pray it is a safe one.
In which Rex officially, actually, definitely died in Saleucami, Cody is not a necromancer (no, really), Obi-Wan is a very, very good Private Investigator, Ahsoka is absolutely not his assistant, and Wolffe is just your average Irish Wolfhound.
Written for the @codex-week 2024 Day 1 prompt: Secrets, Whispers and Rumours!
So, confession: I actually wrote this for Codex Week 2023 (for the 'White is for Witching' alt. image prompt), however didn't finish it time, and put it on the back-burner to chip away at whenever the mood struck, intending to post it once I felt I was done with it. One year later, and I figured the concept fit nicely into Secrets, Whispers and Rumours, so I put a bit of a spurt on and finally got it to that sweet spot of 'eh, this will do'.
No worries if you've not seen Pushing Daisies (though do yourself a favour and immerse yourself in that ridiculous, wonderful little world), and if you have seen it, please forgive my poor attempts to imitate some of its more signature styles and motifs. I suppose they're more 'honourary nods' to the original, as it didn't feel right to do a PD AU without them!
The vignettes are not really in any sort of chronological order, so don't worry about timelines or event sequences - you can just consider each one in the moment. Hope you enjoy!
Captain Rex (for the character meme)
A more detailed character meme! Send me a character and I’ll answer…
What I like about them There's something to be said about total absolute loyalty that starts as 'this is what I'm meant to do' and becomes 'you have earned this.' I like to think about how Rex interacts with the Republic (which failed him), with the Jedi (who mostly tried to live up to needs and expectations), with his brothers (who had that loyalty from the start, and as a whole never chose to break it), with Anakin (who earned that loyalty and then broke it), and with Ahsoka (who left, but came back, and built that loyalty back). Rex is an interesting character in large part due to his relations with other characters, and how those relationships change in direct relation to people living up or living down to his expectations of them. He has very reasonable, understandable reactions to people important to him doing something, which is sometimes in short supply in a series like Star Wars, where people have a tendency to be uhhhhh irrational.
What I dislike about them I feel like there isn't enough canon to him that isn't about his relationships to Anakin, Ahsoka, and his brothers. As much as I love those relationships, I want some more on him in a vacuum, as an individual.
Favourite moment BONK
Tumblr media
Least favourite moment I... don't know that I have one.
A situation with this character that I want to see explored more I want more 'Rex handling strangers' moments like Saleucami. I want him to be first and center in interactions with people who aren't trying to kill him and don't have preexisting dynamics the way Jedi, Senators, or fellow soldiers do.
An interesting AU for this character I'm a big fan of 'what if Rex was Force-Sensitive' AUs.
A crossover Pls consider Rex being the groomsman counterpart of 27 dresses. He's been a groomsman for his various brothers and cousins (the other clones) almost thirty times.
OTP (or OT3+ etc…. just… favourite ship) Rexwalker and Rexanidala
Other ships? Plenty! I like Rexsoka and Rexidala, unsurprisingly. I haven't written a whole lot of others, though I've considered a few (like Barriss/Rex, time-travel-aided Komari/Rex), but I've read a lot, like RexObi, Rex/Fives/Echo, Codex, etc. I'm probably not going to write some of these (cloneship is something I can do for AUs or as a reader, but not as a writer), but they're fun to read.
BROTP Lots of my ships double as Brotps for Rex, namely Anakin, Ahsoka, and the Domino Twins.
NOTP ...Nothing is coming to mind other than the usual 'why would you ship anyone with that person' ships, like Palpatine or Jabba.
An assortment of headcanons! - Has idly fantasized about fatherhood since he met Cut and Suu. - Definitely bleaches his hair, and is surprised the first time someone assumes he's a natural blonde through mutation. - Got a taste for Nabooan seafood dishes while he was recuperating on-planet after the Blue Shadow Virus. He also developed a friendship with Padme (and first became aware of/was read in on the Anidala situation) in that time. - Is easily bribed for harmless bullshit by Padme as a result, because he is a Friend and she has The Good Food. Yes he WILL sneak you into Anakin's rooms if you pay him in popcorn shrimp or calamari.
Revenge of the Sith (Part 2)
Words: 4847
Warnings: language? typical Star Wars violence, probably bad grammar (sorry), the plot of ROTS (bc yes, that needs it’s own warning)
Star Wars Masterlist Main Masterlist
(THIS IS X READER I PROMISE IF YOU WANT THE NONE X READER VERSION THEN GO TO @imnotobsessedwfictionalcharacters)
So I have like…a million OC’s. One of which I have with Anakin Skywalker. Recently (like a few months ago) I decided to rewrite Revenge of the Sith, but instead of Padme, it’s my OC and it becomes an AU near the end bc Obi Wan is able to pull Anakin back to the light. So, I decided to rewrite it (AGAIN) to make it x reader. So yeah, here it is, I hope you enjoy
(Previous part) (Next part)
The next day, Anakin sat in one of the meditation rooms across from Yoda. He had just told the Master about his premonitions.
“Premonitions? Premonitions. Hmmm. These visions you have--”
“They’re of pain, suffering.” He thought for a split second to not say anything else. But he knew he had to, “Death.”
“Yourself, you speak of, or someone you know?”
He thought to say himself, but he knew that Yoda would know he was lying. “Someone.”
“Close to you?”
“Yes.”
He should have known what Yoda would say, “Careful you must be when sensing the future, Anakin. The fear of loss is a path to the dark side.”
Anakin looked around the room for a split second before looking at him and saying, “I won’t let these visions come true, Master Yoda.”
“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them, do not. Miss them, do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed that is.”
Anakin knew that was true, to an extent. But not the way that Yoda meant. “What must I do, Master Yoda?”
He wished that he hadn’t asked the question the second that Master Yoda began his response. “Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.”
Anakin looked down solemnly. Yes, Master Yoda was correct in some things. But not this. Anakin didn’t know what to do. He knew that he should just ignore them. Hope that time will pass without anything happening.
Anakin excused himself from Master Yoda and walked out of the meditation room. As he walked down the hall, he went to where he was meant to meet Obi Wan earlier. Once he turned into the room and walked down the stairs, Obi Wan turned his attention to what he was previously looking at and spoke to Anakin. “You’ve missed the report on the Outer Rim Sieges.”
“I’m sorry. I was held up. I have no excuse” And he wasn’t lying about why he was missing for once.
“In short, they are going very well.” Obi Wan turned to face Anakin, “Saleucami has fallen, and Master Vos has moved his troops to Boz Pity.”
Anakin knew that there was something wrong that Obi Wan wasn’t telling him. So he pursued the thoughts, “What’s wrong then?”
Obi Wan crossed his arms, “The Senate is expected to vote more executive powers to the Chancellor today.”
Anakin was slightly confused on how this was such a bad thing. The fighting could be done sooner. “Well, that can only mean less deliberating and more action. Is that bad? It’ll make it easier for us to end this war.”
Obi Wan’s face grew with concern, “Be careful of your friend Palpatine.” He walked pass Anakin and began to walk up the stairs.
Anakin turned to face his backside, “Be careful of what?”
“He has requested your presence.”
Anakin began to follow him, “What for?”
“He would not say.”
Now Anakin had grown confused, “He didn’t inform the council? That’s unusual, isn’t it?”
Both of the Jedi stopped at the top of the stairs, “All of this is unusual. And it’s making me feel uneasy.” Obi Wan started to leave the room, Anakin followed after him. But they both went different ways as Anakin was heading to meet with Palpatine.
-
He walked into the Chancellor’s office and bowed his head slightly, “You needed to speak with me, Chancellor?”
“Anakin, come in, come in.” Anakin walked over the Chancellor’s desk and stood in front of it, “Anakin, this afternoon the Senate is going to call on me to take direct control of the Jedi Council. The Senate is too unfocused to conduct a war. This will bring a quick end to things.”
Anakin nodded his head slightly, “I agree.” He thought about what Obi Wan said earlier, “But the Council may not see it that way.”
“There are times when we must all endure adjustments to the constitution in the name of security.”
And while Anakin agreed with this, he also found it quite odd. Why was this happening now? Of all the times? Why now? What was so special about the current time? And why was Palpatine agreeing with the taking of the Council? Any and everybody knew that the Jedi wouldn’t allow it. “With all do respect sir, the Council is in no mood for more constitutional amendments.”
Palpatine gave him a smile that Anakin would soon realize was hiding many things. “Thank you, my friend.” Palpatine moved his chair and began to stand, “But in this case, I have no choice.” Palpatine began to walk to Anakin and he met him halfway. “This war must be won.”
Anakin agreed and he knew that others did too, “Everyone will agree on that.”
Palpatine placed a hand on Anakin’s back, “Anakin, I’ve known you since you were a small boy. I’ve advised you, over the years, when I could.” His hand moved to Anakin’s shoulder, “You’ve fought many battles the Jedi Council thought were lost.” His hand dropped and he held it with his other, “And you saved my life.” The two stopped and looked at each other, “It’s upsetting to me to see that the Council doesn’t seem to fully appreciate your talents. Don’t you wonder why you’ve been kept off the Council?”
Now Anakin was confused. He never told Palpatine that he had wondered if he would ever be allowed on the council. Maybe not now, but at another time in his life. When he was older. “My time will come...when I’m older and,” He smirked slightly thinking about something Obi Wan had said a few weeks ago, “I suppose, wiser.”
Palpatine slightly shook his head, “Age is not a good measure of ability, Anakin. I think they see something in you they fear.” Anakin watched as Palpatine moved around, “They see your future and they know your power will be too strong for them to control. They see you as a threat to their power.”
Everything that Palpatine was saying were things that Anakin had feared. “I’ve sensed that.”
The two stopped again and Palpatine looked at Anakin, “I hope you trust me, Anakin.”
Anakin’s head was down slightly due to his fears may be coming true. But he did trust Palpatine. He had no idea why he did. But he always did. There was something that always pulled him to trust the Chancellor. “Of course.”
“I need your help son.”
Help. That was something Anakin always liked to hear. He liked to hear that someone needed his help. It always helped him to feel needed. Feel wanted. “What do you mean?”
“I’m depending on you.”
Anakin’s confusion only grew as he followed the Chancellor around the office, “For what? I don’t understand.”
“To be the eyes, ears, and voice of the Republic. Anakin,” He turned to the young man slightly and the boy stopped in his tracks, “I’m appointing you to be my personal representative on the Jedi Council.”
 No. He couldn’t--wouldn’t believe it. That was not how it typically happened. There was a vote on who could and could not be on the Council. Anakin couldn’t believe what the Chancellor had just told him. “Me? A Master?” The closest he had ever been was when Ahsoka was his Padawan. While yes, Anakin did want a seat on the Council, this just...didn’t feel right. All of his feelings felt as if they were collapsing in on him. He had no idea how to feel. What to feel. “I’m overwhelmed, sir.” He walked towards Palpatine, “But the Council elects its own members. They’ll never accept this.”
Palpatine concurred with the young Jedi, “I think they will. They need you.”
Need. There it was again. That four letter word. Something he always had to feel. He needed to feel that he was needed. To be told that he was. He hated feeling unwanted and unneeded. It reminded him of his years on Tatooine. Where he had no freedom, even when now he had little. When he was unable to do anything without being punished. Need. The feeling was still something he wasn’t used to. He wasn’t used to feeling needed or the feeling of needing someone.
They stopped in the opening to the hallway that led out of the Chancellor’s office. “More than you know.” And the two walked out of the office and down the halls.
Anakin knew that this was wrong. That the Council would never accept this. But he tried to keep his hopes high. That maybe Palpatine was right and they would accept this.
Anakin just hoped.
-
And now here he was. Standing in front of the Council members. His eyes focused on Masters Yoda and Windu, but they kept glancing at Obi Wan. Hoping his friend would give him some sort of hope. Something to ease his emotions.
“Allow this appointment lightly, the Council does not. Disturbing is this move by Chancellor Palpatine.”
It was odd. But Anakin actually agreed with Master Yoda. “I understand.”
However, what he did not expect was Master Windu’s response, “You are on this Council, but we do not grant you the rank of master.”
He was shocked, “What?” Has this ever even happened before? A person be allowed on the Council but not the rank of Master? That, and had anybody been his age? He felt his heartpace quicken, unsure if it was from positive or negative emotions. He looked over at Obi Wan, who gave him the smallest ‘its okay’ face. But it didn’t help. And it didn’t stop him from saying his next words, “How can you do this? This is outrageous.” Of course he noticed Obi Wan’s face faltering as he glanced at Master Windu. “It’s unfair.” Yes, Anakin knew that he shouldn’t have said it, but he was just...upset. He had never heard of this happening and he wasn’t sure that he liked it. “How can you be on the Council and not be a Master?”
He watched as Windu’s face grew annoyed, “Take a seat, young Skywalker.”
He didn’t say anything at first and just bowed lightly. But before he turned to take a seat, he knew he had to apologize for his outburst. “Forgive me, Master.” And if he was to be honest, it wasn’t aimed at Windu. Or even Yoda. No. It was aimed at Obi Wan. He knew that his old friend was slightly embarrassed and that he could get in trouble for Anakin’s own actions.
He did his best to ignore it, but he saw Obi Wan as he shook his head. He was quiet as he sat down. Mostly just thinking about how stupid he had just been. Why did he do that? Why did he lash out like that? Why was he always like this?
“We have surveyed all systems in the Republic,” He looked around, but quickly stopped and fully turned his attention to Master Mundi as he saw Windu staring at him. “But have found no sign of General Grievous.”
“Hiding in the Outer Rim, Grievous is. The outlying systems you must sweep.”
In Obi Wan’s own way, he argued with Yoda’s statement. “We do not have many ships to spare.”
And then Mundi brought up a good point, “What about the droid attack on the Wookies?”
“It is critical we send an attack group there immediately.”
Anakin kept quiet as he listened to Obi Wan agree with Windu, “He’s right. It’s a system we cannot afford to lose.”
And then he saw it, Yoda giving in, “Go I will. Good relations with the Wookies, I have.”
Windu nodded slightly, “It’s settled then. Yoda will take a battalion of clones to reinforce the Wookies on Kashyyyk. May the Force be with us all”
Anakin looked away as he noticed Obi Wan glancing at him. Obi Wan noticed him playing with his hands and the end of the arms of his robes. It was an old habit that he had had since he was a kid. Something he never grew from. Something Obi Wan never taught him not to do. Anakin never asked why. But Obi Wan had a reason. It wasn’t just because he didn’t see it as being ‘important’. It was because it helped him to know when Anakin was overwhelmed. It was something Obi Wan hated seeing Anakin being.
Because just like Anakin sees Obi Wan as a brother, Obi Wan saw him as one too.
-
The meeting continued for a bit more and once they were allowed to go, Anakin went. Honestly, he wanted to see Y/N. Tell her what had happened. See if maybe he did overreact. Of course he slowed down as he heard Obi Wan yell for him. Once his old Master and friend caught up to him, the two walked in silence. It wasn’t until Anakin felt that he had gotten far enough away from everyone else that he began to vent to his friend. “What kind of nonsense is this? Put me on the Council and not make me a Master? It’s never been done in the history of the Jedi! It’s insulting!”
“Oh, calm down, Anakin. You have been given a great honor. To be on the council at your age--it’s never happened before!” Obi Wan reminded him. And yes it did help. The two stopped walking and turned to each other. Obi Wan’s voice quieted down as he continued, “The fact of the matter is, you are too close to the Chancellor. The Council doesn’t like it when he interferes in Jedi affairs.”
Anakin looked at Obi Wan. Not wanting to believe what he thought Obi Wan was implying. “I swear to you, I didn’t ask to be put on the Council.”
“But it’s what you wanted.” But of course he did! Every Jedi did! Anakin didn’t understand how it was relevant! Palpatine hadn’t even really known about how he wanted it anyways. The two began walking again, “Your friendship with Chancellor Palpatine seems to have paid off.”
Anakin was confused, “That has nothing to do with this.”
Obi Wan concurred, “The only reason the Council has approved our appointment is because the Chancellor trusts you.”
Anakin looked at Obi Wan curiously, “And?”
“Anakin, I am on your side. I didn’t want to put you in this situation.”
Anakin knew Obi Wan was on his side. He always was and always would be.
Anakin stopped walking, “What situation?”
Obi Wan did as well and turned to him. Worry was written on his face. He looked down and then gave his old ‘he had to know eventually look’ and spoke, “The Council wants you to report on all the Chancellor’s dealings. They want to know what he’s up to.”
They both walked over to one of the large windows overlooking the city. “They want me to spy on the Chancellor?” If he got caught, he could be tried and killed for treason. “But that’s treason.”
Obi Wan sighed, “We are at war, Anakin.”
Anakin quickly looked away and then back at Obi Wan. “Why didn’t the Council give me this assignment when we were in session?”
“This assignment is not to be on record.”
Anakin didn’t understand. Palpatine was not a bad man. He was a good one. Why were they being like this? “The Chancellor is not a bad man, Obi Wan. He befriended me. He’s watched out for me ever since I arrived here.” He knew he was practically repeating Palpatine’s words from earlier, but they were true. Palpatine had looked out for him ever since he had come to Coruscant.
“That is why you must help us.” Obi Wan let out a small sigh, “Anakin, our allegiance is to the Senate. Not to its leader, who has managed to stay in office long after his term has expired.”
“The Senate demanded that he stay longer.”
And yes, Obi Wan knew this. But he felt that there was something else at play. And he knew, deep down, Anakin did too. “Yes, but use your feelings, Anakin. Something is out of place.”
Anakin sighed, “You’re asking me to do something against the Jedi code. Against the Republic. Against a mentor and a friend. That’s what’s out of place here.” He stared at his friend, “Why are you asking this of me?”
And for the first time in months, maybe even years, it wasn’t Obi Wan who was asking something of him. “The Council is asking you.” And if it were up to Obi Wan, he would not put it to him. Not alone. He would join him. But one thing that Obi Wan knew was that Anakin wouldn’t let him down. He never had. So when Anakin finally broke down and agreed. Obi Wan was thankful. For he was not sure that his fri--his brother would agree to it.
-
Anakin had gotten home not long after Y/N had gotten off a call with her sister. So she was walking into their sitting area when he walked in. The first thing she noticed was how overwhelmed he looked. She silently walked over to him and pulled him over to a couch. Making him talk about what had happened. She silently listened as he ranted, waiting for the proper moment to say something. “Sometimes I wonder what’s happening to the Jedi Order. I think this war is destroying the principles of the Republic.”
She waited a moment until she knew he was done. “Ani...have you ever thought that...that maybe Palpatine could be corrupt? In some way, shape, or form?”
“What do you mean?”
She bit her lip, “I’ve heard some people saying how they don’t trust him. A man with as much power as he has...he only can stay pure for so long. At some point, they will become corrupt. I’m not saying the Council is right to have you spy on him, I absolutely hate it, but maybe...just maybe he isn’t purely innocent.”
“I don’t think so. I...I would know! I would feel it!”
She nodded, “I know you would. I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m not saying the Council is wrong. No one is wrong or right. I just...the Senators and Representatives make almost no choices! And I just think that there is something more sinister going on here. I just want you to be safe. I don’t want you to end up getting hurt. But please, talk to the Chancellor! Allow him to see some type of reason! He can’t make every decision for the end of eternity, can he?”
He quickly stood up and began to walk away from her, “You’re being just like them! Asking me to do something that I don’t want to do!”
“What is it?”
“It’s nothing.”
She sighed and stood up, “Hey, please don’t do this Ani.” She placed a hand on his arm and stood in front of him, “I didn’t mean to upset you, I’m sorry. I know you don’t want to betray the Chancellor. He’s your friend. And I know you hate betraying your friends.” She sighed as she looked into his eyes, “Hold me? Maybe it can allow your mind to be at ease. Not think about anything but the two of us?”
He didn’t say anything as he wrapped his arms around her. He knew he couldn’t stay long. He had to go back to the Temple. He knew that they would be on the lookout for him, more than usual.
-
Y/N sat on the couch, waiting until Anakin would possibly return. He had been summoned by the Chancellor. She didn’t fully like it. She didn't trust the Chancellor. But, she did trust Anakin. And Anakin trusted Palpatine. So, shouldn’t she as well?
-
Anakin walked over to the Chancellor and bowed down to talk, “You wanted to see me, Chancellor.”
Slightly startled, Palpatine responded, “Yes, Anakin. Come closer. I have good news.” Anakin moved and kneeled down next to the Chancellor, “Our clone intelligence units have discovered the location of General Grievous. He’s hiding in the Utapau system.”
Anakin felt a wave of relief wash over him, “At last. We’ll be able to catch that monster and end this war.”
“I would worry about the collective wisdom of the council if I didn’t select you for this assignment,” Anakin looked up at Palpatine fully. Was he wanting him to capture Grievous? “You’re the best choice, by far.” Palpatine hummed, “Sit down,” He turned to the Umbaran woman next to him, “Leave us.” She nodded and stood to leave, along with the others with the Chancellor. Anakin moved to sit down, not fully comfortable with it, but he still did. “Anakin, you know I’m not able to rely on the Jedi Council.” Anakin looked at Palpatine, “If they haven’t included you in their plot, they soon will.”
Anakin was confused on what it was that he meant, “I’m not sure I understand.”
“You must sense what I have come to suspect. The Jedi Council wants control of the Republic.” He grew more confused, he hadn’t really sensed it. That would be against everything that the Jedi were for. Why would they want the Republic for their own? “They’re planning to betray me.”
“I don’t think--”
“Anakin,” Palpatine interrupted, “Search your feelings. You know, don’t you.”
She sighed, “I know they don’t trust you.”
Palpatine nodded his head to the side, “Or the Senate. Or the Republic, or democracy, for that matter.”
Anakin sighed, “I have to admit, my trust in them has been shaken.”
Palpatine turned to look at Anakin again, “Why?” Anakin saw it from the side and turned his head to face Palaptine’s. “They asked you to do something that made you feel dishonest, didn’t they?” Anakin looked away, unknowing to him, confirming what Palpatine suspected, “They asked you to spy on me, didn’t they?”
And then Anakin realized something. Maybe...maybe Y/N was right. Maybe he should lie. He adjusted himself in the seat, “I don’t, uh-I don’t know what to say.”
“Remember back to your early teachings. All who gain power are afraid to lose it. Even the Jedi.”
That sentence. It ticked something off in Anakin’s brain. “The Jedi use their power for good!”
“Good is a point of view, Anakin. The Sith and the Jedi are similar in almost every way.” Once again, something ticked off in Anakin’s head. Why would Palpatine think this? What does Palpatine know about the Sith? “Including their quest for greater power.”
But that was when he remembered something he read once. The Sith code. “The Sith rely on their passion for their strength. They think inwards-only about themselves.”
Palpatine turned his head slowly, “And the Jedi don’t?”
“The Jedi are selfless.” He disagreed, “They only care about others.” Or at least he and Obi Wan did. And Ashoka used to and he knew she still did.
“Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?”
“No.”
“I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend.” A Sith legend? How did Palpatine, a former Senator, know of a Sith legend? “Darth Plagueis was a dark lord of the Sith. So powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create...life.” Create life? How? “He had such knowledge of the dark side he  could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.”
Anakin felt confused. Why was Palpatine telling him this? He didn’t tell him about his nightmares. But then, Anakin wanted to know. Was this actually possible? Was there a chance that he could’ve saved his mom? That he can save Y/N? “He could actually...save people from death?”
“The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.”
Anakin looked over at Palpatine, “Wh-what happened to him?”
“He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of, was losing his power. Which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew. Then his apprentice killed him in his sleep.” Anakin looked over at Palpatine and noticed that it looked as if he was reminiscing something. “It’s ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.”
But Anakin still had to know. “Is it possible to learn this power?”
“Not from a Jedi.”
And that was when Anakin realized, he may end up having to make one of the worst decisions of his life. Betray the Jedi or betray Palpatine. He didn’t want to make either decision. But he knew, deep down, that was going to have to.
-
Anakin sat along with the Masters of the Council. He had just informed them of what Palpatine told him. Well...some of what he had been told.
“Palpatine thinks General Grievous is on Utapau?”
Anakin explained more of what he had been told to Kai Adi-Mundi, “A partial message was intercepted in a diplomatic packet from the chairman of Utapau.”
“Hm…act on this, we must. The capture of General Grievous will end this war. Quickly and decisively we should proceed.”
For a moment Anakin thought that maybe he shouldn’t mention it. Just allow them to decide who to send without saying what Palpatine had said. But he also had to know. He had to know if maybe...just maybe they would have him go. Not that he really wanted to fully, really all he wanted to be there when Grievous was captured. Anyone would. But Anakin just felt that need to be there. Of course he knew if it was allowed, Y/N would roll her eyes, laugh, and say something about his need to be needed. And that all she would want is for him to return to her safely. How it always was.
“The Chancellor has requested,” He hesitated, something nagging at him. Telling him to not do it. But nevertheless, he did. “That I lead the campaign.”
He knew what Windu was going to say. And he knew he shouldn’t have asked. Especially as he saw some of the looks from the others.  “The council will make up its own mind who is to go, not the chancellor.”
“A master is needed, with more experience.”
Master Mundi nodded, “I concur.” And Anakin felt himself freeze as he heard the next words. “Master Kenobi should go.”
Yoda and Windu agreed with Mundi and Anakin tried hard to hide his small tinge of jealousy. “Very well. Council adjourned.”
Anakin sighed as Windu ended the meeting. He waited a moment for Obi Wan and walked out with him. Obi was getting sent straight away. Anakin had to talk to him. He just had to. He had to talk to his oldest friend before he left.
The two were silent as they walked, until they neared the docking bay. “You’re going to need me on this one, Master.”
Obi Wan nodded, “Oh, I agree.” And Anakin felt happy when he heard that. Happy that Obi Wan agreed with him. Especially with something that others would find silly and him just being jealous. “However, it may turn out just to be a wild bantha chase.”
Anakin sighed, “Master.” They stopped walking and he tried to make eye contact, but he just…couldn’t. “I’ve disappointed you.” He knew he would either regret this or it would become the best thing he’d ever done. “Uh, I haven’t been very appreciative of your training. I’ve been arrogant.” He stopped for a brief moment before continuing, “And I apologize.” He thought, maybe just stop there. But he knew he should go on. Tell his emotions to Obi Wan. Like he used to do. “I’ve just been so frustrated with the council.”
And when he saw the soft smile grow on Obi Wan’s face, Anakin knew he made the right choice. “You are strong and wise, Anakin, and I am very proud of you. I have trained you since you were a small boy. I have taught you everything I know. And you have become a far greater Jedi than I could ever hope to be.” He felt his head fall slightly. If Obi Wan knew about him and Y/N, would he think the same? “But be patient, Anakin. It will not be long before the council makes you a Jedi master.”
They smiled at each other and Obi Wan began to walk away. “Obi Wan.” Obi Wan turned to face his friend and brother. “May the Force be with you.”
He gave Anakin another soft smile. And they both looked at each other. Both tried to pretend they were the same as they were three years ago, but both knew it was impossible. “Goodbye, old friend. May the Force be with you.” He turned again and walked down into the cruiser as Anakin watched.
Anakin’s smile fell after a moment. Remembering what Palpatine had said to him previously. He sighed and walked back to Y/N's apartment. He had promised her that he’d meet her there today after being unable to spend the night with her.
________________________________________________________________________________
The ship was oddly quiet, Omega had been running around the ship with her Kaminoan friend since they left Kamino.
Hunter peeked into the main hold and found the pair, and Wrecker, asleep on the floor. Omega was curled up with Uwan, the young Kaminoan had their arms wrapped around her and their chin resting on her head. Both kids were peacefully asleep. The main hold was a huge mess, but it was a nice sight regardless.
Echo came up and smiled at the peaceful sight.
"Well, this is a first." Hunter commented.
The pair had been non stop for hours.
"Inspecting every corner of the ship finally tired the both of them out." Echo commented, a hint of a smile on his face.
"Yeah, they're both curious. I'll give 'em that." Hunter chuckled.
Echo sighed, Hunter glanced at his brother.
"Hunter, they are children, and we don't know anything about what Uwan might need. What are we gonna do with them?" Echo asked.
Hunter frowned, glancing at the pair again. They certainly had a close bond, reminiscent of the one he and his brothers shared, possibly stronger. Even if he wasn't sure about the Kaminoan yet, he did know for sure that separating them wouldn't be good for either kid.
"We are coming up on Saleucami." Tech informed them from the cockpit.
"We'll figure something out." He assured Echo.
XXX
Omega squinted at the intense brightness as she went down the steps. She had never seen a sun so bright. Kamino's sun, on the few days it was visible, couldn't properly filter through the thick, tinted glass of Tipoca City.
The world around her was so beautiful and so different from the endless miles of dark blue waves she was accustomed to. The air was different too, it had so many interesting and natural smells in it and just felt so much fresher than Kamino's air had ever been.
"Is this what it's like to be outside?" She asked Uwan in a whisper.
"Feels great, doesn't it?" Uwan prompted.
She followed the Kamino down the ramp and stopped when her foot touched the ground and sank in slightly; Tipoca City's solid metal floors had offered nothing like this.
She knelt to the ground and ran her hands through the strange, powdery substance.
"Whoa. What is this?" She asked, looking up at her brothers.
"That would be dirt." Tech answered matter of factly.
"It's amazing!" She gasped.
She got up and kicked the dirt, sending up a cloud of it, she giggled and kicked up another one. She smiled up at her brothers and Uwan. Hunter and Uwan smiled back.
"Come on. Let's get moving." Hunter said.
She lagged behind her brothers the whole time. Some brand new plant or creature would catch her attention, she'd wander off to go check it out, then Uwan would gently guide her back to the group where she'd follow along until she saw some other new thing and the cycle started up again.
They were walking through a field of tall plants, way above her head, when she spotted a pretty blue creature sitting on a plant. She smiled and walked up to it, reaching out a hand to touch the critter, then it flew up and away, circling around her.
"Whoa." She followed the creature's flight path to where it landed on Uwan's cranial fin. The Kaminoan stopped in their tracks, unsure of what to do.
"Try touching it." Omega suggested.
Uwan hesitantly reached a hand towards it and it took off again. Omega giggled and Uwan just smiled, they hurried to catch up with her brothers.
"So this friend of yours, what's he doing all the way out here?" Echo was asking when they caught up.
"Hiding. That's what deserters do." Tech said.
"Staying off the radar's not our specialty, but he's been doing it for years." Hunter added from the front.
"And you trust a deserter?" Echo asked warily.
"Why not? We're all deserters now." Tech said, he sounded slightly amused.
Hunter stopped near the edge of the field, raising his fist in a signal to do something. Her brothers stopped but she kept walking until Uwan, and Hunter, both stopped her. Uwan gestured down to a silver wire on the ground.
"What are we looking at?" She asked.
"A booby trap." Hunter said.
"Single tripwire. That's cute." Wrecker chuckled, stepping over the tripwire.
Six B1 battle droids shot up from the ground, Uwan immediately pulled her into their arms and growled at the droids. Wrecker yelled and shot at some of them.
"Easy, Wrecker!" Hunter ordered.
Omega took another look at the droids,they weren't active, staked to metal posts. No threat at all. Uwan hadn't let go of her yet.
"W-Was that me?" Wrecker asked.
"What do we have here?" A voice with a thick accent she had never heard before came from beyond the droids.
Two people, a clone and a Twi'lek, walked out of the bushes, both holding lowered weapons. Omega found her attention immediately drawn towards the Twi'lek, she was pink, she'd never seen anyone like that before, the only comparison she had was Uwan when they were younger, they'd had a pinkish hue.
"She's like you were." She whispered to the Kaminoan.
Uwan just nodded, eyes fixed on the two possible threats.
"More clones who have lost their way." The Twi'lek said.
"It's been a while, fellas." The clone chuckled.
XXX
Uwan had never been in a dwelling constructed from such, well, flimsy material. The wooden walls and duracrete wouldn't stand a chance against any storm. Why waste the materials if you had to rebuild after every storm?
The house did have something they had never picked up on Kamino. A sense of comfort, care. It was different from what they were used to.
Omega was completely entranced by the newness, she'd never seen anything made of wood like this before. Uwan kept a lazy eye on her while watching the Lawquanes.
They felt the pair's eyes on them. The clone had looked very alarmed to see a Kaminoan at first, but hid it well.
"I see a few new faces." The Twi'lek, Suu, said, glancing between Echo, Omega and them.
Suu was giving her a much kinder look than her clone husband was. They appreciated that.
"Echo, Omega, Uwan." Hunter gestured to each of them, "Cut and Suu." He said.
Suu smiled and returned Omega's little awkward wave. Uwan gave a small wave of their own.
"Pleased to meet you." Suu said.
"Ma'am." Echo responded to her with a nod.
The clone, Cut, glanced between them, clearly noticing someone was missing.
"Where's Crosshair?" He asked.
Uwan spotted Omega flinching out of the corner of their eye at the mention of her brother, who had tried to kill her.
"It's complicated…" Hunter sighed.
Uwan scoffed under their breath, well aware he'd hear them. Cut leaned back and took a sip from his drink.
"Sounds familiar, Rex told us about the clone troopers turning against the Jedi." Cut said.
That had Echo's attention.
"You talked to Rex? When?" He asked.
Uwan felt a small sense of satisfaction and smiled. CT-7567 had always been one of those clones that was ideal if you looked at him the way Nala Se would, Uwan noticed more that Nala hadn't, watching the clones had been a relatively entertaining pass time. Uwan had seen CT-7567's subtle tendency for independence early on, but of course they hadn't said anything, it made watching clones less fun if their favorites were decommissioned.
They noticed Omega smiling at them too. They had roped Omega in on their little game over the years, once she was old enough to understand not speaking about it. They felt Tech's gaze on them and forced their face back to neutral, tuning back into the conversation.
"Where'd he go?" Echo asked hopefully.
"Didn't ask. He was going on about some behavioral implant." Cut said, taking another sip from his drink.
"Oh, he must mean the inhibitor chip." Omega piped up.
"The what?" Hunter asked.
"Inhibitor chips. The clone masters implanted them in the clones to modify your behavior." Uwan said casually.
Hunter gave them a skeptical look, they shrugged.
"Tech, you said the regs were programmed but you never mentioned a chip." He said to his brother.
Uwan felt a slight irritation at that. They were there when the first chips were implanted, and knew more about them than anybody except their creator. Being Nala Se's pet project meant always being with her and seeing everything she did, it meant knowing things you shouldn't about secret projects. Yet Hunter consulted Tech, who wasn't there.
"How else did you think it worked?" Tech said.
"Why are you asking him?" Uwan asked.
All eyes turned to them. Tech didn't look surprised.
"He wasn't there, he wouldn't know anything about them. Why did you ask him?" Uwan repeated.
"Force of habit, I would guess." Tech piped up.
Uwan shot him a glare. Omega silently motioned for them to stop before this escalated.
"Are you saying you were there?" Hunter asked cautiously.
Just like that, with the slight fear in Hunter's eyes, Uwan relaxed and their irritation dissipated. They leaned back against the wall and stuck their pinkie in their ear.
"Yeah, I'm older than you, remember? You're like what, nine, ten at most?" Uwan said, grinning at the now annoyed group of clones.
Omega was trying to hold back her laughter.
"We are eleven and Echo is twelve and a ha-"
Uwan rolled their eyes and groaned loudly, cutting Tech off.
"I know, I just don't care." They said.
Suu laughed, something about this was funny to only the Twi'lek. Odd.
They heard footsteps then high pitched voices.
"Mom, Dad! There's a ship outside!" Two hybrid younglings who looked more Twi'lek than human ran into the house.
The older one was blue with mottled gray patches. The younger was more sandy colored and his lekku were shorter than they should be, he also had body hair.
"Shaeeah, Jek! Remember me?" Wrecker shouted.
He scooped the younglings into the air with a hearty, loud, laugh.
"Uncle Wrecker!" The pair cheered.
Uwan felt Omega's hand grab their's, she was hiding behind them and trying to get a peek at the strange newcomers. Omega had never been around other children, she had no experience with these sorts of situations. Granted, Omega didn't have much experience in social settings at all.
The blue girl, Shaeeah, noticed them and her mouth dropped open. Uwan knew they were especially alien looking. They shifted slightly, Shaeeah's gaze went to Omega behind them.
"Who are you?" She asked, coming closer.
"Omega…" the girl answered nervously.
Shaeeah smiled, at both of them.
"We never see kids around here. Come with us." Shaeeah grabbed both their hands and pulled them towards the door.
Omega hesitated at the door and glanced up at them, Uwan shrugged, then she glanced at Hunter. The clone smiled and nodded.
They followed the pair outside, they started playing with a ball. Uwan watched them toss it between each other in mild confusion, it didn't seem to be a particularly rigorous form of activity. Omega was just as confused as them.
"Mm... what's the purpose of this?" She asked.
"To have fun." Shaeeah said.
"Here, you try." Jek told her.
Shaeeah tossed the ball gently towards Omega, she stepped out of its way and stared after it in confusion. She glanced back at the pair of hybrids quizzically.
"You're supposed to catch it." Jek said.
"Oh." Omega nodded.
Uwan watched the siblings play for a moment, before they picked up on Hunter discussing something with Cut.
"All right, out with it. What's with the kids?"
"She's a defective clone, like we are, and they… I don't know, some weird experiment." Hunter answered.
Uwan kept their back to the clones so they wouldn't know they were listening. Jek tossed the ball their way, it went above their head. They stretched out an arm and caught it with ease and tossed it back.
"Whoa!" The siblings awed.
"Your sibling is the coolest Omega!" Shaeeah said.
Uwan felt a twinge of guilt. Omega had siblings, more than the clones they had come with, that they had replaced. Their memories were faint, but Uwan knew there was another like her. They weren't supposed to talk about it, or the strange doctor who used to be Nala's apprentice.
Officially, none of it happened, which didn't help when they felt so guilty to see Omega so alone when they weren't there.
Omega smiled over at them, and their guilt melted. There had always been a silent understanding between them on Kamino, they were not just friends, they were siblings, but that sort of bond wasn't appropriate for most Kaminoans. One of their own treating a lesser life form as family? No Kaminoan would do that.
Omega's pendant caught in the light. There is one. Uwan thought with a half smile.
Nala was always different and better. I wonder how she's doing…
"I caught it! Uwan look! I caught it!" Omega cheered, holding the ball high above her head.
"Good job! Toss it to me!" Uwan shouted.
Omega did, Uwan joined the game. It was simple, wasn't anything particularly rigorous, but it was fun.
Uwan hadn't had this much fun in ages.
XXX
Uwan didn't really know how it all happened next.
One moment they were playing, then they were past the fence.
And now, something big, dangerous and angry was growling at them.
What Uwan did know was that it was a threat to Omega.
There may have been shouting behind them, the others talking maybe, but all sound faded out as they locked eyes with the predator.
They snarled at it and flared out their strange new flaps to make themself look bigger, more intimidating.
The beast was hardly daunted and took a swipe at Omega behind them.
Uwan punched the thing wherever they could, it snarled and swiped at them, they backed out of range and felt like they should bite it?
It was an odd urge they had the sense not to act on.
Instead, they flung some of their goopy stuff at the thing's eyes.
The sounds were getting closer now. It sounded like someone was right behind them.
The next thing they knew, Hunter was trying to fight the thing with a knife and pushing them back to the fence. They scooped up Omega and took her back inside the relative safety of the fence.
Everyone was staring at them.
No, their side.
They glanced down, one of the membrane flappy things had a long set of claw marks cutting through it. Their green blood was dripping from the wounds in emerald beads. It was kind of pretty actually.
Hunter grabbed them by their shoulder and made them turn around. They glanced up at him and stared, he was mad.
Why's he mad? I did my job.
"What were you two doing out there? Do you realize you could've been killed?!" He shouted.
Omega whimpered and curled into their embrace, Uwan glared at him for making her upset. Just when they were about to tell him to piss off, Cut intervened.
"Easy. They aren't soldiers." He told Hunter before turning to them.
"Are you hurt?" He asked both of them.
Uwan shrugged, their injury wasn't hurting, then gave Omega a little nudge, she was hiding her face. She hesitantly glanced over at Cut, he gave her a gentle smile.
"Now, let's take a look here." He said.
There was the smallest of scratches on her cheek, nothing that wouldn't heal on its own.
"It's just a scratch, no damage done." Cut told her.
Omega briefly glanced at them, her eyes filled with tears and she let out a tiny cry, burying her face in their chest.
"I'm sorry… I-I was trying to get the ball… I didn't know…" Omega cried.
Uwan glanced at Cut for help, they weren't good with the emotional side of things, obviously since their emotions were rather limited.
"Hey, you're safe. That's all that matters." Cut said.
"But I got Uwan hurt!" Omega sobbed.
"Are you alright?" Cut asked after giving them a long look.
"I think so, it doesn't hurt at all." They answered.
"You're shaking." He pointed out.
A quick glance down revealed that they were indeed trembling.
"Huh, really? Didn't notice." They shrugged.
Cut (wisely) decided not to question it.
"Come on. We'll get you looked at inside." He said.
Uwan made sure to shoot Hunter a glare as they followed Cut into his house.
The clones stared after, completely and utterly clueless to the situation. They are made for one thing, war, of course soldiers would be utterly incompetent when it came to dealing with more delicate issues like this. A small part of Uwan's brain, the part that sought to make sense of every situation, rationalized.
Still doesn't excuse their behavior. Uwan thought bitterly, patting Omega's back.
The clones might've said something, but Uwan wasn't listening.
*Uwan getting hurt by the nexu*
Omega: 😱
Bad Batch & Cut:😲
Uwan: 😕
Uwan both doesn't feel much emotion or much pain.
They are just acting like a typical teenager and only Suu noticed cause only Suu has really been a teenager, and that for some reason is absurdly funny to me.
I make no promises on the next chapter, this is a back burner as stated before, so I dunno when they'll be more.
It's not like I don't know what to do, I just wanna skip to the really interesting stuff but can't, so you get a slow af to update story!
Alright, I hope you all have a good day, whatever that is for you!
Happy pride month 🌈
Quinlan Vos était un Kiffar originaire de la planète Kiffu. Sensible à la Force, il rejoignit l'Ordre Jedi et devint le padawan du Maître Jedi Tholme. Après être devenu Chevalier Jedi, il enseigna les voies de la Force à une jeune Twi'lek du nom d'Aayla Secura. Les deux eurent une courte relation. Quinlan Vos était présent sur Tatooine en 32 av.BY lorsque Qui-Gon Jinn et Obi-Wan Kenobi y allèrent pendant leur mission.
Durant la Guerre des Clones, il réalisa notamment une mission au côté de Obi-Wan Kenobi à la poursuite de Ziro le Hutt, poursuite qui se poursuivit sur Teth avec un duel contre Cad Bane.
Il fit plus tard équipe avec Asajj Ventress pour trouver et tuer le comte Dooku, dirigeant de la Confédération des Systèmes Indépendants. Durant cette mission, il tomba dans le Côté Obscur de la Force et devint très temporairement l'apprenti du Seigneur Sith avant de se racheter après la mort de Ventress, qu'il aima et dont il ramena le corps sur Dathomir en compagnie d'Obi-Wan Kenobi. En 19 av.BY, il participa au siège de Saleucami avant de partir vers Boz Pity puis vers Kashyyyk au moment de l'Ordre 66.
Dix ans après l'avènement de l'Empire Galactique, Obi-Wan Kenobi et la jeune princesse Leia Organa tombèrent sur son nom inscrit sur le mur d'un atelier du village minier sur la planète Mapuzo dans la Bordure Médiane. Ils apprirent alors par Tala Durith que Quinlan venait de temps en temps sur Mapuzo pour y faire passer des Initiés d'une planète à une autre.
Sooo @mwolf0epsilon tagged me in a WIP game (be art, writing, or any medium)! I don't wanna clog their notes so new post it is.
This is a little thing I've been working for a while for the Not-Quite-Immortal Rex au. It's pretty bare bones, but enjoy it! Not pressure tagging @sulevinen and whoever wants to join!
In retrospective, it should be clear to Rex that he was unable to die from the start.
It probably started at Saleucami, when he was shot to the chest, with the Commando droid ("that would've gone straight through your heart had it been two inches to the left"). It was impossible for him to have such luck, but he didn't thought too much of it, because he was alive and there was not any other explanation.
That's how it was for him from then on, he was just too lucky.
He got electrocuted, concussed, thrown, but he was too lucky so he never died.
And then Order 66 happened, and then he was at Seelos.
au where rex AND anakin are on saleucami when the bad batch shows up
OH! okay so imagine echo saying “you’ve seen rex?!?” as soon as he says that rex and anakin are walking through the doorway laughing wearing their post order 66 disguses with leather jackets and Anakin’s hair is in a braid and both their outfits feature the 501st blue somewhere and they turn and face everyone and they stop short when they see that Cut and Suu aren’t alone and thats when they see the bad batch and Rex goes all protective mode thinking that perhaps they’re here to kill Anakin and stands in front of him guns drawn saying ‘stay away from him” and the BB are all holding their hands up telling Rex that they aren’t here for that and it takes Anakin saying “it’s okay” and gently lowering Rex’s arm and holding his hand and saying “they aren’t going to hurt me” and maybe the BB are surprised about how “close” Rex and Anakin are but Echo has known them the longest and is NOT surprised one bit, Hunter witness that whole “we don’t have time for that” conversation and is just smirking at them, Tech raises his eyebrows and Wrecker is ‘awwwwing’ at them, Omega’s got a little smile and Cut And Suu are rolling their eyes cause they’ve had to witness them being all cute for the past week anyway an excellent concept
