My husband was unceremoniously let go from his managerial job at Panera Bread at the start of covid because he had the absolute audacity to advocate for the employees he was managing. I can’t exaggerate how much he bent over backwards for this company, dropped everything to go in overnight because they needed someone, etc
ANYWAY we ended up moving two states away to a much smaller town, and three years later these CORPORATE GHOULS decide to open a location here. These absolute bedbugs in human form decided to take their slimey greens and full menu devoid of even but one crumb of a spice or a flavor
And wow do I have half a mind to do a crime about it
BUT INSTEAD here’s some tips to make better sandos/ salads/ smoothies better by yourself
- The best honey mustard is literally equal parts dijon, honey, and mayo plus a little salt. Adjust to taste depending on how you like it
- The formula to make great vinaigrette is 3 parts oil to one part acid. I do 2:1 because I like it more acidic. The acid can be any kind of vinegar, citrus juice, mustard, etc. my go to that will get you compliments every time is 3tbs oil, about 1.5 tbs balsamic, and about 2tsp each of honey and dijon. Salt and pepper to taste and minced shallots if I’m trying to impress someone. You can shake them together in a jar or tupperware to emulsify, I usually whisk it together in the bottom of the bigass salad bowl so it’s one less dish
- The best smoothie in the world is frozen peaches, frozen strawberries, orange juice, and silken tofu. It’s also a very pleasant shade of tropical pink
Eat well and stick it to the fucking man ✌️

hello dear Jes, I am all out of good meal ideas!! I’m always in awe of your drive to cook and the great-looking meals you create. Any good recs for yummy and relatively easy / quick recipes? thank u 🙏
hello!! yes here are some very easy, low effort low prep recipes i love. the bolded ones are the ones i find myself making most often when i am like wow i do NOT want to cook but if i must do so, i wish to make the easiest thing ever.
shakshuka (all recipes are basically the same! i make it with canned tomatoes to cut down on prep, add a sliced jalapeno to make it spicier, and top it with feta and cilantro. if you are not crazy about eggs my sister often makes it with chickpeas and no eggs!)
thai peanut noodles (you can make as-is but i often add roasted broccoli and air fryer tofu if i have time!)
ricotta pasta with roasted broccoli and chickpeas (i roast the broccoli rather than broiling it as i am afraid of broiling lol but it's very easy and delish)
creamy corn pasta (my beloved)
spaghetti with onion-"bacon", corn, and basil
roasted sweet potato tacos (roast sweet potatoes, warm black beans on the stove with spices, and make easy quick-pickled onions if i have time - then you can add avocado, sour cream, cilantro, and any other toppings you like!)
potato egg and cheese breakfast tacos (i roast or air-fry small-cubed potatoes, scramble eggs, melt cheese into the eggs, and top with the salsa of your choice!)
migas breakfast tacos
tortellini with pesto and roasted veggies
caprese toasts (toast bread of your choice, then add pesto, sliced mozzarella, sliced cherry tomatoes, basil if you have it, and balsamic glaze... my all-time fave easy/no-cook meal)
pesto pasta with frozen peas (another super easy one i make when i want to barely cook at all - you boil the frozen peas in the pasta pot for the last three minutes of the pasta's cook time. then add pesto, grated parmesan, a squeeze of lemon, and halved cherry tomatoes if you have them)
easy asparagus soup (thinly slice a leek and cut 1-2 bunches of asparagus into half inch pieces. melt 3 TBS of butter in your pot, then saute the leek plus 5-6 cloves of garlic for 8 min. add asparagus pieces and 4-6 cups of veggie stock, bring to a boil, salt and pepper, and simmer for 30 min. transfer it all to a blender and blend, then add 1/4th cup grated parmesan and the juice of half a lemon. serve with crusty croutons and sliced chives)
roasted sweet potato & figs dish (you can also make with dried dates if you can't find figs!)
easy chana masala
nectarine, arugula, and feta salad (best in the summer when it's nectarine season but delish all year round... you can also use peaches. i usually serve it on a bed of quinoa so it's more filling/more of a main dish. the basil dressing is to die for i could eat it with a spoon)
avocado & egg sandwich (you can make this on a bagel, english muffin, or bread... just toast your bread, mash avocado onto the bread & sprinkle with red pepper flakes, and then scramble or fry eggs to your liking and put on top)

Dinner Recipe: Gyros
Tumblr media
TIME: ★★★✰
PRICE: ★★★✰
EASE: ★★★✰
CLEANUP: ★★★✰
This is another recipe that can vary dramatically in ease and time depending on how involved you want to be with it!
At its core, it's: season and cook meat, make sauce, chop veg, put in pita. Done. That takes about 15-20 minutes. This is an amalgamation of several gyro recipes I've tried to make a good at-home version. It'll never be as good as the family-run Greek restaurant, but it's pretty darn good!
(I HIGHLY recommend making your own pitas once you get comfy with it- it's just WAY tastier! Here is the Easy Pita Bread recipe I use! But store-bought works just fine! )
Ingredients: 1. 1 lb Ground Meat (I typically use a 50/50 mix of lamb and turkey because lamb is EXPENSIVE. You can totally use just ground turkey, ground beef, or even sliced up chicken breast if you want! Just be sure to season it!) 2. 1/3rd cup Greek Yogurt 3. 1 TB minced Garlic 4. Oregano, Salt, Pepper to taste 5. Veggies of choice (I use: spinach, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, kalamata olives, and pepperoncini.) 6. Pitas -Heat a frying pan on medium with some olive oil (1 TB or whatever you use to lube your pan) -Mix your yogurt, garlic, and seasonings into the ground meat. Using your hands is probably the best method but I am a baby and use a fork or wooden spoon. -Press your ground meat into the pan in one big meat patty. Let it cook like that until one side gets nice and brown (if using pieces of chicken, just cook your chicken in the yougurt marinade) -Flip it over in chunks. This keeps it from getting a super 'ground meat' texture and feels more like strips/cuts of meat. Let it brown on the other side. -Once the meat is thoroughly cooked (feel free to break some chunks up to check), slice your veg, make your sauce, put everything on the pita! Done! Easy "Tzatziki Sauce" I don't add the cucumbers to the sauce because it takes a ton of extra time. This way only takes a minute or two and you can just add sliced cucumbers to your gyro later! 1. 1/2 cup PLAIN Greek yogurt (the amount of times I've accidentally grabbed vanilla greek yogurt from the store is absurd.) 2. 1/2 TB Minced Garlic 3. Oregano, Salt, Pepper to taste 4. 1/2 TB Lemon Juice -Mix everything together. Taste test it to make sure it's salty/garlicy enough. If it's too salty, add a little more yogurt.
Tumblr media
This will DEFINITELY make multiple servings of meat. One of my favorite things to do with leftovers is to put the meat and veg on a salad and use the tzatziki as a dressing. It's SUPER good.

i absolutely HATE osc ships. half of them are either "oh these characters dislike each other/disliked each other at one point" and the other half is "these two friends should date because theyre friends." honestly, if this was between real people that would be really disrespectful. EX: Fantube. yeah, they tried to raise shimmer together and built bot, but platonic parents exist and CAN THEY JUST BE FRIENDS?! PLEASE? EX: Nickloon. ok, nickels trying to make up for being rude to balloon all throughout season two. but really? they dont have to date just because theyre friends, yknow. imagine someone saying "oh you and your best friend who you only platonicallly love- you should date!" to you. that'd honestly be rude. yeah, some ships are confirmed but thats different. EX: Knickle. offical II storyboarder Cakebrunch CONFIRMED theyre in a relationship. thats an official employee of the series saying that a ship is real. not some random person on TikTok saying that TennisGolf is canon because TB is GB's closest ally. its fine to platonically ship characters, if that makes sense, but like... why? i know maybe their designs look cute together or they have an interesting relationship already, but like. why cant friends just be friends? and one of my main thoughts when finding random ships is "when have they ever interacted?" because where are you getting marshmallow x soap from? yeah maybe they interacted that one time, but like. when have they had an actual conversation? and dont get me started on those ships that throw certain characters in canon ships (looking at you, metallic salad/metallic salad + mephone shippers.) because like. why? certain characters have established relationships with others, and your just like "ohh well those two are in a relationship, but mic and knife are a cute ship so how about mic + knife + pickle? makes sense!" like. please.
IM SO SORRY I JUST STARTED RANTING SO HARD. IM JUST WORKED UP BECAUSE I REALLY DONT LIKE SHIPS. SO SORRY IF ANY OF THIS IS DISRESPECTFUL AND IF THIS HAS LIKE 300 SPELLING ERRORS <3 -🐝

Happy Mole Interest Monday, folks! I don't have my Redwall books on hand today, but I do have the official Redwall Cookbook, and here are two recipes to help everyone really get into the spirit of the holiday. Recipes and moles under the cut. The measurements and temps use the American system.
Vegetable Casserole à la Formole
Ingredients:
Unsalted butter, for the casserole dish
4 large potatoes, scrubbed and sliced
4 medium carrots, peeled and sliced
1 turnip or 1/2 a rutabaga, peeled and diced
I cup vegetable stock
Salt and pepper, to taste
3/4 cup breadcrumbs, preferably whole wheat
2 cups (4 oz) grated sharp cheddar cheese
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a large casserole dish with butter.
Arrange the vegetables in alternate layers in the dish, beginning and ending with potatoes.
Pour the stock over the vegetables and season with salt and pepper.
Cover with a lid or foil and bake for 1 and a half hours.
In a bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs and cheese and sprinkle them on top of the casserole.
Return the dish to the oven and bake, uncovered, until the topping is crisp and starting to brown, 10 to 15 more minutes.
Mole's Favorite Deeper'n'Ever Turnip'n'Tater'n'Beetroot Pie
Ingredients:
I lb (3 medium) potatoes, peeled and chopped
Salt, to taste
1/2 pound (4 medium) carrots, peeled and chopped
1/2 pound turnips or rutabaga, peeled and chopped
6 tbs unsalted butter
Pepper, to taste
I cup (2 oz) grated cheddar cheese (or any favorite hard cheese)
(Optional) Crisp green salad, for serving
(Optional) picked beets, for serving
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the potatoes in a saucepan, cover with water and a pinch of salt. Place carrots and turnips or rutabaga in another saucepan, cover with water and add a pinch of salt. Boil all the vegetables until soft, 10 to 15 minutes.
Drain the vegetables separately, then return them to their pans and add half the butter to each pan. Mash the vegetables until they are smooth and season them with salt and pepper.
In a deep casserole dish, spread alternating layers of the mashed vegetables, starting with the carrot mixture and finishing with a layer of potato. Roughen the top with a fork.
Sprinkle cheese on top and bake on the top shelf until the cheese is bubbling, about 15 minutes.
Serve with a crisp green salad and pickled beets if desired.
And here are the moles, as promised.

My friend, how do you do? I was not sure if you had already received this but its better to be safe than sorry.
I am afraid I will be talking for a while, might melt your brain in the process.
Solve these puzzles and you shall know who I am.
Listen to me carefully. And remember these two things
Some of the questions hold the answers in them
Some questions are more literal than you think, follow the words exactly as they say
For this is the first step. Two keys you must find to understand the next step.
I have two words
They are from the same family
They share the last name with a triangle
They speak in another language
But they do not speak the same language
This is the first word
This word is good friends with a salad
Yet it was assassinated
You have to jump the number of times it was stabbed
The next is a word is what describes a classical hero
Handsome and strong, both together are the word
Make sure you speak the language of love to tell exactly him that
And make sure to remove the first word of this line while you tell him
What word do you tell him?
Have you gotten it? Have you gotten the answer? Well then this will be easier then. To get past the door you must insert the keys in proper order. And I suggest you use this door to get to the right answer: https://cryptii.com/

A little while ago, I posted a screenshot to show I'd downloaded the first 22 episodes of four different long-running podcasts that I'm thinking of getting into. Thinking I'd try the first few episodes of each podcast and decide which one I want to commit to long-term for 2024. It's am important decision. My job is hard and my hours are long and the only consolation is I get to shut myself in an empty classroom during breaks, hopefully with some headphones where I can hear some people whom I'll enjoy enough to get me through the next few hours.
Well, I've made some progress:
Tumblr media
I listened to the first five episodes of each podcast, down to 17 downloaded episodes instead of 22. I still haven't narrowed it down, really. Here are some bullet points with the first few things to come into my head about it:
- Three Bean Salad is by far the closest to getting cut, but not quite yet. It's the one I've enjoyed the least, but it's also growing on me more with each episode. I'm going to give it more time. I don't know what it is about that one that doesn't connect with me. On multiple occasions, some tangent they've gone on has left my cold, and I've tried to picture Andy Zaltzman and some other podcast comedian I like going on that same tangent, and have to admit I'd find it funny if those guys did it. Something about the TBS guys just doesn't get to me, even if they're saying funny stuff. Which means the issue may just be that I know less about these guys than I know about the people on those other podcasts, I don't get the inside jokes or their references quite as well, which is why I'm giving it more time.
- After five episodes, I have started to detect a very faint note of whatever Welsh bit is apparently in Benjamin Partridge's accent. I definitely wouldn't have noticed it was there if someone hadn't told me, which makes me think that maybe I'm imagining it, but whatever I'm hearing is allowing me to start occasionally thinking "I'm pretty sure the guy talking right now is Benjamin", and then another guy will address him as Benjamin, so I am starting to get that right. And I do know Mike Wozniak's voice, I'm starting to be slightly better at picking it out. They still sound mostly indistinguishable, I have no idea who's talking about 85% of the time, and of course that doesn't help with the enjoyment of the podcast overall. I'll keep listening to it at least until I learn to tell the voices apart. Which at this rate might be like 100 episodes.
- The other podcast where I struggle with differentiation isn't going much better. I can recognize Matthew Crosby's voice very easily, I just don't know whether it's Ben Clark or Tom Parry who's speaking. And if they have a male guest whom I don't know and who doesn't have a very distinctive voice, I probably won't be able to tell him from Ben or Tom either.
- Pappy's is a bit more uneven than some of the others, as it depends on the quality of guests. However, the more it goes along the more I'm appreciating the interactions among the three main guys, and most of the guests are good. I've been enjoying that one.
- I have to admit that after one episode, I was a bit disappointed by John and Elis. I like John Robins so much, from his stand-up. The guy he was in that first radio episode seemed a lot lighter than what I enjoy in his stand-up shows. Obviously, I don't want him to be talking about wanting to commit suicide while touring a friend's house every time I hear him talk (that is a reference to a specific part of his 2017 stand-up show, not just a general example of what I want comedians to do). But... I hate asking for this, but yes, I do appreciate a little edge, John.
Fortunately, after a couple of episodes, I think John relaxed into it a little, and I got used to what he was doing, and it got more fun. I will also admit that how Elis James is doing doesn't have a huge effect on how much I've been enjoying this show, it's John Robins that I like enough to want to hear hundreds of hours of him, and Elis James seems like a nice guy who makes a nice foil to the Darkness of Robins, and I'm glad he's there. But I'm there for John. Elis hasn't particularly changed my mind about that in five episodes, but his presence is nice enough, and he might have lots of time to change my mind. I recently described Elis James as being not only the least edgy comedian in his radio double act, not only the least edgy comedian in his marriage, but somehow the least edgy comedian in the sitcom where he starred with Josh Widdicombe. He’s eminently likeable, and I see that working, next to John Robins.
- I’ve found the John/Elis one a lot of fun, though, after I got a couple of episodes in. Some Howard/Richardson vibes, of two people who are close enough friends to be able to play off each other very comfortably, borderline too comfortably, but it’s fun to listen to. Oh, and little shades of the professional jealousy that marked the tension in the Howard/Richardson relationship have already popped up in this one, John Robins being bitter about Elis James getting cast in a sitcom and nominated for a Chortle Award (at one point he mentioned in almost the same sentence that his relationship was going well but his chances of winning a comedy award were going badly… I wanted to tell him that those two things will come to trade places, and the misfortune of one will cause fortune in the other). Previous experience has shown that two white guys talking to each other in a studio (or two studios) where one becomes more professionally successful and that creates a dynamic of tension is sort of my favourite thing (Howard/Richardson, old school Bugle), so this might be good.
- I fucking hate how funny I continue to find Peacock and Gamble (on the subject of two white guys talking to each other in a studio where one will notably surpass the other in professional success and relationship tension will ensue). I’m going to keep giving this one more time because I think that surely, if I listen to it for a while longer, it’ll get less funny. Two guys just being inappropriate and filthy has to get old after a while. I want to stop finding this as funny as I do. But I have to admit, I’ve found this one the easiest to listen to. It helps that it has the shortest episodes, but it’s the one where I’ve found myself getting to the end of each one and wondering how it could be over that fast, it feels like this episode only just started.
- The Pappy's really long song to introduce the quickfire round joke did, in fact, get slightly old in episode four. But it came back with a vengeance in episode five, funniest one yet. I'm now beginning to see how they could vary its content in ways that would keep it from wearing thin over 100 episodes.
- I still think Pappy's is at its least funny when it brings in audience members, as most podcasts are. But I have to admit that some of the Beef Brothers segments have still been funny. And there is a good argument for sticking with Pappy's, in that its the only one of the four options that brings in guests, so would keep it varied and I'd get to hear from lots of comedians I like, as well as maybe introducing me to new ones. But also, I do quite like spending hundreds of hours with the same two people until I've heard all their jokes and stories and can recite their lines along with them.
- There's a real possibility I end up sticking with John and Elis, which would of course mean doing their BBC show after XFM, and that will take the rest of my life. Oh well, there are worse things I could do with the rest of my life. Listen to every episode of Peacock and Gamble, for example. Because I could do that too. Too easily, probably. Like how I could eat an entire family-sized bag of chips, without even noticing the time passing, if I let myself. But that doesn't mean I should.

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ - Vinaigrette Recipe - ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
Salads are a great meal because you can have a lot of it for very few calories! One cup of lettuce is only 10 cals! But when it comes to dressings, especially store bought, they can be really high in calories for very little dressing. Right here is my recipe for red wine vinaigrette!
Makes 2 servings | 25 calories per serving
- 2 tbs red wine vinaigrette (6 cal)
- 1 tsp olive oil (40 cal)
- 1 tsp dijon (4 cal)
Add ingredients to a covered container and shake until mixed
Great for salads and dipping fresh vegetables!
enjoy <3

Having a bad day or weekend or whatever. I just feel so big. I’m bloated. My stomach is sticking out, my legs are huge, my face is so round. I feel like I’m gaining weight (I am).
I still haven’t gotten my period and I’m still having pms symptoms. So maybe that’s why I’m so bloated and feel this way. (Or maybe it’s because I ate so much yesterday.) My period is now 5 days late. No way I’m pregnant (my husband had a vasectomy) so wtf.
I skipped dinner to make myself feel better. It didn’t work but maybe my weight will go down tomorrow.

"the first one is such a bad taste comment and instant sideeye, especially considering that even actors must have heard about the gross ass hate that tg actors, esp olivia and emily, have gotten" I've been thinking the same thing, I doubt Steve didn't see at least some of the unhinged comments since he is on social media, and there are posts with thousands of likes insulting TG actors' looks and calling them inbred looking, there is absolutely no need to encourage these people even jokingly. Emma was the only one from TB who gave a neutral answer and didn't insult anyone.
Ewan probably cares less about the possibility of getting hate because he is not on social media, and I think he and Matt were asked to play into the Aemond/Daemon rivalry to hype up their future fight.
You're right that this fandom is incredibly toxic and not worth it, but the fact that HBO is trying to appeal to the worst types of fans is really disappointing. This marketing only makes me less excited for the season and crushes my last hopes for a more balanced storytelling. These comments about the Greens hating each other and the Blacks being a perfect family really don't inspire my interest. The promo campaign is confusing because HBO recently was like "there are two sides to every story" and now it's basically good guys vs bad guys who barely get any time in the promo.
i mean, yeah, totally agree. which is why i'm so meh about the whole thing and don't feel the vibe any longer. i mean clearly not even the tg actors seem excited for their side's story so why should anyone else? the only people eating good are aemond stans because ewan has always promoted aemond and the greens in an excited way. the rest are just not into it. even fabien who has said team green at one point... his 'promo' was underwhelming and fans took it to mean that he's not into it. regardless of whether he is or not, it does matter how you come across.
so you know for me the issue is that there's such a discrepency between the 'sides' in promo, behaviour, writing, etc that it feels like the show itself is saying one side is the villains and one is the heroes, which would have been fine if they had been honest about it from the beginning.
and even with people like daemon, the show and the portrayal and what the audience took from it is that you can commit any crime whatsoever, and abuse women, but if you 'look cool' doing it then you're automatically cool and not grouped with other women abusers.
so y know i'm kind over it? i'm kinda... well, just not into it. feels like ryan made a salad from this story and most of his storytelling is shallow.

I'm going to try to follow this menu. I'm focusing more on whole foods and protein. And I want to cut out mac n cheese and pull back more on pasta. My goal is daily exercise! I'm okay with slightly upping my calories as long as I am building muscle to counteract, although I will still pay attention to calories and limit when possible. But I think cutting back too much is slowing down my metabolism.
