Just found out there’s an island called Inaccessible Island that’s almost completely surrounded by cliffs, and one of the cliffs is called Where-the-Pig-Fell-Off, because humans can’t live there so they tried to fill the island with pigs and they all died. Oh, and the only way to get there is to travel for 7 days in a boat from Cape Town with permission from the government. There’s also an extinct volcano :)

Podcast Title: "Three Bean Salad - Episode: The Cohen Conundrum"
Intro Music: Quirky Jazz with a Dash of Mischief
Host 1 (Henry Paker): Greetings, salad aficionados! It's Henry Paker here, your salad sommelier.
Host 2 (Mike Wozniak): And I'm Mike Wozniak, the bean buffoon.
Host 3 (Benjamin Partridge): And I'm Benjamin Partridge, the legume luminary. Today, we've got a salad sensation for your auditory taste buds – the perplexing world of Leonard Cohen.
Segment 1: "Cohen Quirks"
Henry Paker: So, chaps, what's the weirdest thing you've discovered about Leonard Cohen?
Mike Wozniak: Did you know he lived in a Buddhist monastery for years? I can't even manage a weekend without Wi-Fi.
Background: Laughter Mix
Segment 2: "Culinary Cohen Creations"
Benjamin Partridge: I did some digging, and it turns out Cohen had a peculiar fondness for artichokes. What do you think he'd pair them with?
Henry Paker: Knowing Cohen's taste for the poetic, probably a balsamic reduction with a side of existential reflection.
Background: Playful Banter
Segment 3: "Cohen Cover Culinary Chaos"
Mike Wozniak: Alright, lads, if Cohen covered a cooking show, what do you think it'd be like?
Benjamin Partridge: Picture this: Cohen narrating the slow, dramatic process of caramelizing onions. A symphony of sizzling and soulful poetry.
Background: Imaginary Cooking Show Music
Segment 4: "Bean Ballads"
Henry Paker: If Leonard Cohen wrote a song about beans, what do you reckon it'd be called?
Benjamin Partridge: "The Ballad of the Beleaguered Bean," a melancholic ode to a legume lost in a sea of salad greens.
Background: Humorous Bean-themed Imagery
Segment 5: "Cohen Comedy Challenge"
Mike Wozniak: Time for the Cohen Comedy Challenge! Tell me your best Cohen-inspired bean joke.
Henry Paker: Why did Leonard Cohen invite beans to his concert?
Mike Wozniak: I don't know, why?
Henry Paker: Because they always know when to 'bean' silent!
Background: Laughter Eruption
Outro:
Benjamin Partridge: And there you have it, folks – a Cohen Conundrum for the salad-loving soul. Until next time, keep tossing those beans and unraveling the mysteries of musical maestros.
Henry Paker: Stay tuned for more salad shenanigans and bean banter. Cheers!
Outro Music: Whimsical Fusion of Bean-inspired Jazz and Cohen Classics

I'm so attracted to this man, even knowing in about five minutes from this moment he farts and later tells the whole world about his haemorrhoids. The power he has.

One of my favorite bits in Three Bean Salad, where they envision this long-running conspiracy where Mike Wozniak on panel shows is secretly being controlled by Henry Paker as a means to take over the world.
Also, it’s naive of them to think Mike’s target demographic is exclusively women over 40. Have they read this blog???

Podcast Recs: Comedy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I know that there's nothing more subjective than comedy, but I feel I have to toot the horn for these two podcasts, even though they can both be placed in the same surprisingly narrow category of "British men in their 30s and 40s talking about subjects in a humourous manner".
Loremen deals with local legends, ghost stories and other historical curiosities of mostly Britain (though they will go to other parts of the world if they have a guest host). The two hosts take turns going over the story of the week and at the end the other will grade the story-telling using various whimsical categories. It's not hugely inventive but it's alway good fun and the two hosts match each other well when improvising comedy.
I have never laughed harder at any podcast than when I listen to Three Bean Salad. Three comedy writers/performers pick a random subject from suggestions sent in by the listeners (everything from Bags to France) and use that as a jumping off point for their conversation. A few times they will actually deal with the subject at hand for the entire episode, but mostly they veer wildly away from it immediately. Their comedy style tends towards the delightfully absurd, and the three men are each so particularly weird in a very normal way that I just don't tire of hearing them talking about their adventures trying to find a birthday card, their lovely family made up of hired actors, or what they would do if they came home after Christmas to find a cut of beef in their fridge close to its sell-by-date. The subject in the title may be Dentists, but you just never know what sort of hilarious nonsense you're actually going to be listening to over the next hour. Oh, and make sure to start from the first episode, if only to see the slow building of their comic universe of references upon references and ever-evolving jingles.

Guys I don’t want to freak you out but I legit met Mike Wozniak today (at the London Podcast Festival) with Three Bean Salad, and he and they are the nicest humans ever and I love them more than ever. I look awful in the photo but they did see me with my eyes open talking like a normal human, despite what my demon like visage might suggest.

Three Bean Salad using the exact same jingle for your mum's favourite Nigel Havers and Timothée Chalamet is absolutely perfect.
