Although there is so much wonderful beauty in the world I am in awe of, there's still some sadness that is tearing me apart.

My Friend's Toyota I
🎶 here she is! Based on the song of the same name, by Asiris 💕 I wanted to write this before spring arrived. It's just a few parts (I'm thinking 4 right now) only because the first part got so long 🤭
~8k words
Warnings: college!Harry but otherwise none really. Just wanted to write a cute romantic story. Maybe the tiniest bit of angst (but maybe not in this part just yet). This part is a little ramble-y but I promise it'll come together quick.
But this... angel he had bumped into...
She was going to star in all his fantasies now.
Tumblr media
Can’t believe September’s already over / Looked for stars and I found a supernova / praying to God that I can hold her close / ‘Cause I know she’s worried ‘bout the snow / She said “Darling, should I bring a coat?”
Harry thought he was more excited to go to university than anyone had ever been. “For drinking right?” his friends from school asked with a laugh. They chatted about it all the time during the summer before they all left their hometown in favor of the new chapter of their lives. Harry liked drinking, sure. It was fun but he enjoyed hanging out with his friends more. At least when they were in university they wouldn’t be drinking illegally anymore.
But Harry was a bit of a hopeless romantic.
He believed university was the surefire way to meet the love of his life. The person who would knock him off his feet, make his heart grow three sizes too big for his chest, and simply just... feel like he was right where he was supposed to be.
The first semester of university came and went.
Harry didn’t meet the love of his life.
He had Mitch. His roommate and one of his best friends from home. But Mitch was in love with their friend Sarah and unfortunately, he didn’t feel the same way about Mitch as Sarah felt about him. But that was okay. He still had lots of time to find the person that would make his stomach flutter.
But spring semester came and went too.
Harry tried to find her. He went on dates with several women he met in classes and at parties. He heard the whispers and rumors about him. It made him a little sad that some of the women he went out with never corrected the rumors. His longest relationships were no more than a month, but Harry couldn’t help it that he didn’t feel the spark he was looking for and ended things before they really got going.
It was supposed to be all-encompassing. Make him breathless. Knock him to his knees. Maybe he was being ridiculous. At the age of almost twenty he was being unrealistic to want something like that. He was young. There was plenty of time for love.
But was it so bad that he wanted it now?
His dorm room with Mitch was a suite and they each had their own rooms. They decorated the main room with the help of Sarah to make it homey (and also stopped them before they used empty vodka bottles as décor). Their dorm was one of the “party” dorms, but they rarely hosted. Harry and Mitch wanted their place to be a safe place. It rarely saw more than ten people—and that was only when he and Mitch were pre-gaming with other friends to go to a party off campus. Sometimes Harry brought his friends back if they had too much to drink. It made him feel better knowing they were in a safe place. Sarah even brought back a girl that was too drunk to make any good decisions of her own accord. Harry minded over her with worry because the poor thing was all but sobbing as she threw up most of the night and whined about how sad she was.
Harry actually dated her for about a month after—some kind of savior complex that he should have known doomed their relationship from the start.
So, he kept waiting to find the love of his life. But he couldn’t help but feel discouraged as he complained to his mum and Gemma over the summer that he didn’t find her that first year.
“Honey bunny, it’s too early to think like that,” Anne smirked. “You’re so young.”
He shrugged. “I guess. M’jus’... Mitch has Sarah,” he reminded them.
“I know, but...” Gemma smiled sadly at him. “You’re not Mitch. It’ll happen when it’s supposed to happen.”
Well Harry didn’t meet her the following year either. Twenty came and went. He continued hearing rumors about his body count. The only ones ready to defend him ever was Mitch and Sarah but he simply didn’t care. The girls he met at parties, bars, in class, they all continued to flirt with him and when Harry felt the hope of a spark, he chose to pursue it—not because of the rumors, not because he felt like he had to in order to find the love of his life, simply because he was young and enjoying his life.
But September of his third year.
Oh.
*
Harry was appalled that as a third-year student, any of his major professors deigned to have an eight-AM class. It felt like death as he walked with the throng of people headed to the correct buildings when the sun was barely high in the sky. His eyes felt droopy, and he was certain he yawned the entire walk from dorm room to classroom.
His backpack was slung over his shoulders. He shouldn’t have gone out last night. He wasn’t hungover, but he was just so tired. The chance of meeting the love of his life could have been at that party. That wasn’t an opportunity he was willing to miss.
“I told you,” Mitch muttered to him liking eight-AMs more than the average college student. Get it out of the way. He stuck his foot out causing Mitch to stumble a bit and he smirked with a low chuckle. “Idiot,” Mitch grumbled.
Harry didn’t know what he wanted to do with his degree yet. Another component of divine intervention he was hoping would appear in front of him. Love and career. He hoped the universe would help him figure both out sooner rather than later.
Mitch veered off to his own building and Harry counted down the minutes until he could trek back to his dorm room. Harry was yawning—again—and shook his head trying to perk himself up as he made it to the building where his classroom resided on his schedule.
Harry chose a seat in the back of the room. Put his head on the desk and tried not to think about how his bed might be his real soulmate.
*
Harry was much more awake now that his professor had re-sparked his interest in microeconomics. All his classes were econ-based this year and he was honestly super excited to look at different facets of his major and maybe that was divine intervention. He had four required economic electives: sports, law, history, and statistics. Additionally, he would be taking a math class that was a pre-requisite to the class he needed for next semester. He tried not to think about it too much.
With a pep in his step, he no longer felt like going back to his dorm and sleeping as he told Mitch he would be doing instead of joining him for breakfast. He wanted to go to his next class or the bookstore. He wanted to geek out over the intro lecture he just heard to someone that would care and wouldn’t brush off his nerdiness. What he really wanted was someone to kiss at the end of the day and tell him all about their classes and ask what he wanted to do for dinner—whether it was dining hall food or a date in town.
“Hi Harry,” someone called as he fantasized about his little dream life. He didn’t even see who it was, so he turned to catch a glimpse.
“Hi—” he started to call politely. If it was someone he knew, he didn’t want to be rude. As he turned, he must have shifted into the path of someone else’s walk to class. He bumped into someone with about half of his body. He knocked her phone out of her hand. Also made her stumble off the sidewalk a bit. “Oh, sorry, love,” he said bending for her phone before she could. The water bottle she had tucked in her bag also fell to the ground. “Are you alright?” He was hopeful he didn’t hurt her, but who knows, she could have tweaked her ankle on the edge of the walk and Harry would have felt horrendous for the whole rest of the day.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” her voice was a bit rushed. “I just transferred here this semester, and I’m all turned around and I’m going to be late—”
Harry glanced up at her having gathered her belongings from the dewy grass and finally caught her gaze. She stopped speaking when Harry looked at her. He swore his heart stopped. They were off the sidewalk, now. People were walking quickly to and from their classes. Harry could feel the gaze of people who knew him as he walked by. Trying to figure out who the girl was he was talking to.
Harry knew he hadn’t found the love of his life yet due to lack of connection. They liked Harry well enough, and he honestly was fortunate to have had a few girlfriends who were kind, intelligent, and pretty. Those he had dated the past two years simply didn’t scratch that itch for the fantasy he had: asking about his day, telling him about hers, and what did they want to do for dinner.
But this... angel he had bumped into...
She was going to star in all his fantasies now.
They hadn’t spoken in thirty seconds while Harry dreamed of happily ever after with her. Finally, he cleared his throat. “Where are y’headed?” He asked quietly.
She shook her head rapidly and pulled her phone from his hands. Harry tried to memorize everything about this moment. The concentrated expression on her face while she scanned her phone screen. “Umm... Livingston 210,” she sighed. “Am I going the complete wrong way?” She asked nervously. “God this is so embarrassing. I spent all day yesterday walking around trying to map out my paths and I had to park in a different lot, and I am the worst with maps and directions,” she rambled.
“No, no,” Harry shook his head. “S’this way. Let me walk you,” he offered. “You’re fine,” he promised glancing at his own watch. “You’ll... you’ll be early,” he reassured her.
She blew out a relieved breath. “Really? Don’t you have a class to get to?” She asked. “I don’t want to put you out—”
He shook his head quickly. “No, not... not at all, love,” he murmured. “M’happy t’do it. Got a break before m’next class.”
Her face took on this gorgeous smile that Harry wasn’t sure he would ever be able to forget. The relief was palpable. It seemed almost excessive, like he was a doctor and told her that she wasn’t ill and not that her class was only about a three-minute walk. But Harry adored that smile. The way her eyes lit up along with the curve of her lips. “Thank you, so so much. I’m so nervous and know absolutely no one—except my roommate. But she doesn’t have class until noon. Plus, my transfer credits went in late last week so the schedule I had planned is all different than the one I made in June. I really almost considered just leaving and transferring back—”
He chuckled at her little ramble. He liked it a lot. Way more than he probably should have for having met her only ninety seconds prior. He wondered if she always did that. The need to find out was nearly unbearable. How could he prolong the conversation? How could he get her number in the next two minutes it took her to walk to her class? “C’mon,” he tilted his head toward the direction he had come from.
Was he being ridiculous? Maybe.
But this was what he wanted. The way his heart stopped. He couldn’t ignore that. Was he holding his breath? Was she feeling the same warm tension that was covering his entire body with the need to look at her? This was it. She hadto be it. The love of his life. The first day of third year. His heart felt... whole.
“Oh good, this is familiar,” she sighed with relief. Chuckling, Harry held the building door open for her to pass through. “Do you like candy?” She asked as she entered.
Blinking curiously, Harry wondered if she had some conversation in her head that he wasn’t privy to that resulted in such a question. “M’sorry?”
“Candy?”
“Uh, yeah. Of course,” he smiled at her curiously.
“Okay, I’ll get you candy as a thank you for walking me, then,” she promised with an assured nod of her head.
Harry was floored by her kindness to a stranger. It made him feel so overwhelmed that he ignored how ridiculous it all seemed for him to act like this. So that meant she wanted to see him again. He chuckled. “Y’don’t have t’do that, love. S’not out of m’way,” he reminded her.
“I know... but you don’t know me, and you look important.”
“Look important?” He repeated dumbly and gestured to the stairwell for her to ascend. He followed beside her hoping he didn’t look as creepy as he felt feeling so overwhelmed with how he already felt about her.
“I don’t know, everyone was staring at you while we walked over,” she shrugged.
He smirked. But he was surprised he missed that. Usually, he noticed when people called out to him.  “Everyone?”
She nodded. “I think a few people even did a double take,” she explained. “So, you must be important.”
He rolled his eyes with another little laugh from his lips. “Uh...I don’t think m’important,” he admitted. They stood a few feet away from the door labeled 210. “S’really no trouble. I jus’ left m’eight AM from here,” he promised. “Was jus’ going t’get breakfast. M’happy t’help.”
“Well, thank you. I really appreciate it. I promise I’ll get you candy,” she said glancing at her watch and then the classroom door. “I like to get a good seat for the lecture. I’ll... see you around...?” She waited for him to fill in the missing information.
“Harry,” he said wiping his hand on his leg before holding it out for her to take. The first time he would touch who he was certain was the love of his life.
“Harry,” she repeated, placing her hand in his while introducing herself as well. “I’ll see you around.”
His heart was aching with something that had to be a cross between infatuation and undeniable love. Her hand felt so nice in his and it was just a handshake. Imagining their fingers twined together made him ache with want. “Wait,” he said right as her hand touched the doorknob. “Where’s y’next class?” He asked. She pulled her phone from her pocket and opened her schedule. “Uh... Sawyer,” she said reading off her phone. Harry’s heart leapt. “312.”
He felt tingles all through his body. From fingertip to his stomach, to the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. “Yeah?” He asked rhetorically. The question was more for the universe; it’s way of telling Harry she was here. “I’ll walk you,” he promised. “We’re in the same class.”
She turned her face briefly from him—maybe an effort to hide the blush that was covering her cheeks and making Harry fall even harder for her. “Yeah?” She wondered.
He nodded. “I’ll meet y’at the front of the building when class gets out, yeah?”
She smiled. “Okay, thanks, Harry,” she sighed with relief heading through the doorway. “Enjoy your break,” she called over her shoulder.
Harry floated back down the steps. Honestly, he wanted to wait outside her classroom, but he just met her, and he wanted—no needed—this to work. Wanted it to work more than anything. The smile plastered on his face had his cheeks hurting but he couldn’t stop. He nearly sprinted to the closest dining hall where he told Mitch he would meet him for breakfast.
“Sorry, m’late. I jus’ met the woman m’going t’marry,” his voice was all airy, falling into a seat beside Mitch with a dreamy look on his face.
“Whoa,” Mitch chuckled. “You look sick.”
“I feel sick,” he laid down onto a second chair. Backpack still on. He looked like an idiot, but he couldn’t help it. He was in love.
“Glad you met her, Harry. Finally, right? Can you act like an adult?” Mitch muttered cutting up the waffle he had on his plate. Sitting up he smiled at his friend.
“We have class together next.”
“Isn’t that your math class?” He wondered. He thought about the schedule Harry was insistent about putting on the fridge so they could find each other if needed while at home. For emergencies. But Mitch didn’t understand why the schedule needed to be on the fridge if Harry made him commit it to memory anyway.
“Yeah, so?”
“You hate math.”
“No one likes math,” he grumbled.
“Maybe she does. Maybe she’s not your soulmate.”
“Shut up,” he dropped his bag in his seat and headed to get food. Upon returning with his tray, about three other people said hello to him. One girl stopped him asking if he was coming to her party this weekend and one of the guys that he knew from his pickup soccer games asked if he was available tomorrow night for a game at the rec field. “If she likes math then... jus’ mean she completes me. Still m’soulmate,” he shrugged.
“You got an answer for everything,” Mitch laughed.
*
Harry found her sitting on the barrier wall to the mini garden outside the building. One of her legs stretched along the length of the cement ledge and the other dangled off the side. With the need to get her to class on time, Harry didn’t have time to ogle her at all. But now, as he approached her, he noted she was wearing a pair of jeans and a pair of trainers. Obviously, her worry about being late to class must have meant she considered sprinting if it got late enough. Her T-shirt was this light orange-pink color. Like she was modeling a sunset. She had a book propped on her thigh and she leaned over reading, like she was simultaneously doing yoga while reading.
“Hey,” he called. Her head perked up and she smiled, putting a bookmark in between the pages and swinging her leg over to say hi.
“Hi!” She chirped excitedly. “I was afraid I missed you when I ran back inside.”
Back inside? He frowned. “Did y’class end early?”
“Yeah... almost a half hour ago,” she shrugged hopping off the ledge. “Syllabus and all. Doesn’t happen that often to me—I’m majoring in accounting and finance, so all my classes just jump right into the lectures and lessons. But this is a sociology class that my other school didn’t offer but I have to take here to graduate,” she explained with an eyeroll. “They were insistent.”
“M’sorry y’had to wait,” he frowned.
“Don’t be sorry,” she smiled. “I got to read a bit and—oh!” She twisted her backpack around her body and into the zip pocket. She retrieved whatever item she was looking for and held it out for him to take. “For walking me,” her voice was so sweet.
Harry felt his jaw fall open just a bit as she placed the Twix bar in his hand. “Twix is my favorite, but I got Starbursts too if that’s more your vibe. Reese’s if you like peanut butter. I wanted a variety just in case and it won’t go to waste regardless—”
“Twix is m’favorite, too,” he said turning the bar over in his hands. He looked up at her as if she really was placed right in his path. Fate. Out of nowhere. Like a star exploding out in the universe and dropping this angel in its spot.
She smiled. “Excellent,” she said. “Where’s Sawyer, then?” She asked while zipping her bag again and heading toward the walkway when he walked her to the building earlier. “I want a good seat,” she reminded him. Since she got him his favorite candy bar—and simply because she existed and was without a doubt going to be his favorite, period—he wanted to make sure she got the seat she wanted.
He wanted to make sure she got whatever she wanted.
*
Was it normal to want to hold someone’s hand like this? Harry’s immediate thought was no. It wasn’t normal. Wanting to hold hands with someone the way he was craving to hold her hand had to be the most abnormal thing in existence. Every Tuesday and Thursday for the next three weeks, he waited outside Livingston, watching her descend the front staircase to the main floor. They chatted the entire ten-minute walk to Sawyer where they shared a math class. She insisted on sitting closer to the front than Harry would ever consider but he was immediately enamored with how sweet she was and there was no way he could let someone else sit beside her.
Tuesdays and Thursdays were slowly becoming his favorite days of the week. They were his weekend even with a packed schedule on the two days. Talking to her was everything he had been longing for the last two years of school.
On Sunday, he slept until almost ten-thirty. He was lying in bed while scrolling through his array of social media and other correspondences. He heard the shower running, so either Sarah or Mitch must have been well after a night of drinking.
Three weeks. After three weeks of pining and walking her to and from class, he got an email on a Sunday.
The subject line read: Be-Twix you and me I’m glad we’re friends. He threw himself out of his bed and paced the main room trying to figure out if it was Mitch or Sarah in the shower. He knocked. “Sarah!”
“Sorry, Harry. She’s sleeping,” Mitch called.
He opened the door anyway. “She emailed me.”
“How 2002 of her,” he snorted.
“You’re useless,” Harry grumbled closing the door shut. He truly considered barging into Mitch’s room and waking Sarah for a girl’s opinion but after doing the very same and seeing way more than he was supposed to of his two friends, he opted for figuring it out himself. He vaguely wondered if there was a way to open an email faster. He must have read it a thousand times and it was only four sentences long.
Hi Harry!
I was wondering if you would want to study for our exam together? I like having someone to study with, but if that’s not your vibe I understand :) Let me know either way! This is my number if you would prefer texting.
Harry thought there were no prettier ten numbers than the ones that formed her phone number. He was immediately ready to text her but luckily had the wherewithal of checking the time stamp of the email to see if he was looking desperate but struggling to care. Fortunately, the email was from a little after seven-thirty.
He could have chatted with her for three hours longer if he hadn’t slept so late.
Hi, it’s Harry 😊
Hi! Glad my email didn’t scare you off. My roommate said that my Twix pun was horrendous.
It’s adorable. Thank you for emailing. I’d love to study. I work until five... I can meet you somewhere?
Do you like coffee?
I love coffee 😊
Do you think it will be cold around five? I’m still getting used to the weather around here. I want to bring a coat.
Harry made a mental note to pack an extra sweatshirt in case she got too cold. Can’t hurt to bring one. You never know what the weather will do around here.
*
Forty minutes a week.
Forty blissful, perfect minutes in the month of September had been spent chatting with the stranger that bumped into her on the first day of the fall semester. The sun was warm despite the breeze chilling her skin. It wasn’t nearly enough time but she somehow managed to fall incredibly hard for him anyway.
It was a bit ridiculous.
Her roommate—and only friend—was also a transfer student. However, Allie was much more outgoing than she was. That wasn’t to say she didn’t have fun; it was just different than how Allie enjoyed herself. Allie made friends everywhere she went. Their off-campus but university-owned apartment was always in flux of visitors from her classes, her club tennis team, or just someone she met while eating lunch in the dining hall between classes.
Allie was a good judge of character though, so she never worried about someone of bad rapport traipsing through their place. Also, Allie was always sure to keep everyone away from her room, of course.
But Allie had no problem flopping on her bed around ten in the morning and nosily glancing over her shoulder. She had left her email open anxiously waiting for a reply from the most handsome guy she had ever had the pleasure of meeting. “Be-Twix?! Sweetie, that’s atrocious,” she rolled her eyes. She groaned in response.
“I... I don’t know,” her face felt hot with shame. She really liked Harry. “It seemed like a good idea at the time... maybe that’s why he’s not answering me,” she frowned.
“Maybe he just sleeps like a normal college student and doesn’t wake up at the ass-crack of dawn,” she said knowingly patting her knee reassuringly.
“Have you seen the leaves?” She whispered almost in awe. “I went for a walk to get a bagel and—”
“I’ve seen them,” Allie smiled with a shake of her head at her silly friend. The adoration she had for little things was admirable, sweet, and just... if Harry Styles broke her heart, she would break his face. “I lived here my whole life, remember?”
But she didn’t live here her whole life. So, she was in awe—her first true fall since she was a toddler that she didn’t even remember. There were pictures of her jumping into a pile of leaves with her mom that her dad had just painstakingly raked. The south didn’t have pretty leaves like this in the fall. Palm leaves didn’t change color other than wilting brown when it was too hot. She intended to spend every minute looking at the beautiful hues of orange, red, and yellow so as not to miss the pretty season she hadn’t gotten to enjoy for most of her life.
After another agonizing thirty minutes of waiting for him to respond (and breathing with sweet relief that he did want to see her later) she told Harry that she was worried about it being cold later in the evening. She had grown up closer to the Tropic of Cancer which was now roughly 15 degrees south of her current latitude. She hated the heat; it made her skin feel dirty and oily with sweat all summer long. Her hair was too thick, her skin naturally too warm. Just thinking about her thighs sticking to her leather car seat in July was horrific.
But her parents had grown up and met here on this pretty autumn-picturesque campus. Somewhere not quite freezing (at least not yet, so she had been told) but not quite suffocating with heat like home. They left here when she was two to situate themselves in Hell’s sauna room. After taking the general requirement classes at a state school, she wanted to transfer up north to the university where her parents fell in love. Call her a hopeless romantic, but if she hadn’t found the love of her life amongst the bathing suit, half-clad guys on the beach during the last two spring breaks, then he probably wasn’t in the south. Instead, she hoped she might find him around the ski slopes.
She hadn’t anticipated finding Harry before her first class started.
Forty minutes.
That was how much time Harry generously gave her outside their shared class combined on Tuesday and Thursday each week.
She wanted more. Greedy with want and didn’t know how to do it without tying it to school. Part of her worried because what if he just pitied her and now didn’t know how to get away from her? They had class together; he couldn’t be rude. Even if he didn’t like her the way she was already falling for him, it was very obvious that Harry was a good person.
“Just be careful,” Allie warned lightly. “Harry has a bit of a reputation I hear.”
She frowned and shrugged. She knew what Allie meant. People around her weren’t exactly subtle and while she listened to music in the dining hall while she ate, or studied in the library, or even just read her book. Those around her whispered. They had seen the pair of them walking to class. Apparently, Harry never looked like that before. The whispers included Harry having plenty of girlfriends. Sometimes two or even three at a time. That just seemed ridiculous, and she felt so sad others talked about him behind his back. There were even quiet bets about how long she would last in the list of Styles’ conquests.
So, she understood that Allie was just trying to look out for her. “Well... I like him. He doesn’t have a reputation around me,” she shrugged. Allie frowned for a moment. She was so sweet.
“Just be careful with your heart,” Allie looked at her with a bit of worry in her eye. But her smile was encouraging. “It’s too good for university guys.”
She had only known Allie about three months longer than she had known Harry. They both moved in at the start of the summer, working off campus and getting to know one another as well as the area (not that it helped her directionally illiterate mind). Allie was lovely and all the things she wanted in a college-best-friend that she never really got from commuting to the local college when she lived down south. “I think you would like him.”
“I can like him and still want someone better for you,” she shrugged leaning in the doorway. She didn’t want to taint the image of perfect Harry. But the stories she heard weren’t easy to ignore. She had seen him at parties since her best friend met him on her way to her sociology class. It was hard to miss him. It was like he was the star of every party.
He drank with his friends and girls obsessed over him. To her friend’s nearly naïve point of view, however, Allie hadn’t seen Harry flirt back. He was helpful and kind to those that drank too much; guiding them outside and gently pulling a girl’s hair back for when she threw up in the shrubs. It was endearing in a lot of ways. But she would still kill him if the rumors of a string of girls was true. If her new best friend was just another notch in his belt, Harry was dead. “You are so sweet to believe in the good in everyone. I just don’t want you to be heartbroken if he isn’t as lovely as you think.”
She smirked looking at the emojis and rapid influx of messages Harry was sending her trying to coordinate timing and picking her up, so she didn’t have to walk. “I won’t,” she promised. But she didn’t say that she thought he was better.
*
Harry was fifteen minutes late. He blamed the table he was waiting on before he left. They were overbearing and wanted their meal comped—that much was obvious. Looking for the smallest hiccups to rebuke him. Harry begged his manager to seat them in another section. Having waited on them before, but no dice. His heart was in his throat wishing he had time to go home and change but he couldn’t. If he was a moment later, he was sure he was ruining everything.
Unaware of Harry’s worry, she waited patiently on the bench outside the apartment building the university had taken as more dorm suites. She continued reading her book trying not to think about how maybe Harry had better things to do than study for a math class on a Sunday. Especially after work. But he had texted her he was running late, and he was on his way.
She was glad she decided on a coat, it wasn’t freezing, but her thick skin ill-suited for hot weather was already thawing and feeling the chill of the early October weather. She spent an embarrassingly long time sorting through her athleisure wear trying to decide. Something suitable for studying at a coffee shop that wasn’t overstated but not quite sweatpants.
Right when she thought about calling Harry, he appeared in front of the bench. Parking and getting out of his car quickly and hurrying to the passenger side. “I am so sorry,” he said hurriedly dragging a hand through his curls. She admired the motion; enjoying how mussing them didn’t matter much and they fell right back into place. She cleared her throat and shook herself out of her own staring at him.
“For what?”
“M’so late, love. S’rude. M’sorry,” he repeated.
“Oh...it’s...it’s really okay. I was already out here—”
“S’cold,” he frowned eyeing her sweatshirt and the coat at her side.
“I’m okay!” She promised. “Is everything alright?” She asked and stepped toward him putting her hand on his forearm. He thought he might explode at the feeling of her skin on his. It was more intimate than their handshake, and she got the feeling she wanted to twine their fingers together again.
Harry seemed to breathe with a sigh of relief, and he looked at her with this stunned expression. She couldn’t figure out why. “Yeah,” he nodded. “Jus’ felt bad being late.”
“Oh,” she blinked. “That’s okay. I wasn’t in a rush or anything—”
“No, love,” he shook his head. “M’sorry because I wanted t’see you so bad,” he sighed. He ran his hand through his hair again making her heart take off at a speed that had to be unsafe for her health. Almost immediately she felt light-headed. He wanted to see her. He just told her that. There was no hiding it. She could feel that emotion thick in his voice.
“Oh,” she repeated, completely stunned and confused. “Really?” She asked in complete shock.
“Yes, very, very much,” he sighed dreamily.
Her cheeks warmed hotly under his gaze. The pair of them stood there. Staring at one another as if they were statues destined to look at one another for all eternity, frozen in time to capture a moment like theirs. The October air was rapidly cooling, but she couldn’t feel anything but heat. Like she had stepped out of the airport terminal back in the south except this heat was not suffocating. It was so welcoming.
For a few moments they just stood there, her hand touching his forearm, gazing at one another. Part of her thought it would be nice to be a statue on the street. At least if Harry was beside her. Eventually, he shook his head ever so slightly and smirked. “So...coffee?”
She cleared her throat, smiling brightly. “Please.”
*
Just one week later, she was chatting with a friend from her sociology class. The moment he saw Harry, he knew Harry was there waiting for her, just as he had been since they met a month earlier. Harry recognized him from attending many parties that his frat hosted at one of the houses someone had off campus. His eyes seemed a bit surprised to see Harry waiting at the bottom of the steps, doing a double take at him waiting for the girl he was walking with down the steps.
“Hey Harry,” the guy said quietly.
“Hi!” She chirped gleefully. Her excited smile felt like too much on her face, but she had no way of knowing. She also didn’t notice the turmoil the guy felt seeing the competition between himself and Harry. (If she did know, she would flat out tell him there was no competition—other than school, Allie, and work, her mind was all about Harry.)
“Hi,” he said politely with a smile and turned toward the person he actually cared about talking to. “Y’ready for math, love?” He asked gently.
“Always,” she started for the main door. “See you around!” she called sweetly over her shoulder.
*
On Saturday, Allie asked if she wanted to go to a party with her. She was more than happy to stay in and read her book. But she teased her. “Harry might be there,” she winked knowingly.
As much as she didn’t pay any attention to the rumors about Harry, it was hard to fully ignore them the way she wanted to. It wasn’t that she distrusted Harry. No, if anything, she believed in him more than anyone else. But it did sound like Harry had a different party persona. She was not a party person. Honestly, she wanted him to have fun they way he wanted to. Going to a party just because he was there...
“That’s alright, I think—”
“Oh, come on!” She smiled sweetly. “I’ll help you get all dolled up and we’ll just have a couple drinks, and we can leave if you hate it. But if Harry is as smitten as you say he is, I bet he won’t let you leave,” she giggled.
Her face warmed at her friend’s assumption and she tried to picture a scenario in which someone as attractive as Harry would worry about little ole her like that. “Isn’t it cold out?”
“So wear another sweater!” Allie rolled her eyes.
“That’s not very college party of me.”
“Well, I would suggest an alcohol blanket, but I feel like getting you drunk before you even see Harry would be bad.”
She rolled her eyes. “You’ll make me look pretty?” She asked quietly at her friend in the doorway.
“Prettier,” Allie nodded assuredly.
“Alright,” she sighed. “Let’s go to a party.”
*
Allie’s arm was looped through hers. It was freezing out. But honestly it felt nice. She was just a bit shivery. “I thought you said I could wear another sweater.”
“Sweetie, hiding your assets at a party would be criminal.”
She rolled her eyes with a smirk. They entered the door, dodging the guy standing at the door to keep people in and out very quickly. “Hey Allie,” he said.
She waved in response and headed right inside. She thought maybe it was a good thing Allie told her to skip the sweater. The heat inside the house was nearly as warm and humid as the airport terminal. The air was thick with the sour smell of alcohol, weed, and sweat. “I don’t know how people want to hook up with anybody around here. I can’t think of very many places that are less of an aphrodisiac.”
Allie smirked and pushed the pair of them through a throng of bodies toward the kitchen. She grabbed two red cups from the sleeve of them off the counter and asked the makeshift bartender—surely some poor freshmen pledge—to pour them drinks. Her gut felt a little off about the gesture. “I don’t know, Al,” she whispered softly.
“I’ve had them here before,” Allie promised reassuringly. She still wasn’t thrilled with the idea as she took the cup from her friend.
“Hey Allie!” Someone called. Allie turned, looking over her shoulder as she called back over the pounding music. Meanwhile she looked at the liquid sloshing along with the ice. She thought maybe she should have taken her chances with the jungle juice—no one would be stupid enough to touch that, even if it would end with her throwing it all back up at the end of the night.
The pair of them circled around the house, briefly stopping to watch the end of a rousing game of beer pong. The winning person slammed his beer back, dripping along the sides of his mouth triumphantly which made her smile. Allie rolled her eyes and tugged her out back. A bon fire was in the middle of the yard. Another sober freshman pledge, undoubtedly in charge of standing guard. The music was still loud but way less aggressive outside. There were other large groups of people outside as well chattering and drinking away. Allie worked quick; left her alone by the fire—which she was grateful for since it was warm. When Allie returned, she was already sipping her second drink, holding a third, and dropping her empty cup in the trash bin right near the house. Oof, her head was going to kill tomorrow.
“Harry’s here,” Allie whispered to her as she got close to her again. There was a twinge in her knees, like she might fall at the mere thought of him. It took all her self-restraint to not whip around to catch a glimpse of him. She wasn’t playing hard to get, but this was very much not her scene. She didn’t want to intrude on whatever fun he was having. “You should go say hi,” Allie nudged her.
She smirked, wanting to take a sip of her drink but still feeling hesitant so she just put the cup to her lips, like she was pretending to sip it. “Uh...maybe later. I don’t want to interrupt,” she responded directly in Allie’s ear. The good news was she managed to peek over her shoulder to see him standing a little ways away from the fire. It was too dark to make out any specific features or defining muscles but just the way he stood was hot. She felt insane for thinking such a thing, but it was impossible not to. He was so cute. He had one hand in his front pocket, a drink in the other hand, and just a plaid flannel layered over another plaid flannel. His eyes and smile were lost in the dark, but she could picture it. The light evergreen color that was simply her new favorite color along with the pinkest most adorable lips curling across his face and making dimples in his cheeks that would make the Grand Canyon jealous of their depth.
“I think he would probably die if you interrupted,” she snickered.
Briefly, she entertained the idea. She could ask how Harry was doing on his homework, but that wasn’t the best party talk in the world (even if she did want to know). But she was still a little nervous, especially outside class, their walk, and even their study not-quite date to chat with him about anything. A party was more than likely his element. She could see why. Girls were surrounding him ogling very much the same things that she probably ogled on her way to math class. He was easy to talk to, sweet, and of course very handsome.
She shook her head. “Do they have s’mores?” She asked suddenly.
Allie spit her drink back into her cup and laughed. “Jesus Christ,” Allie rolled her eyes. “No; college-students don’t have s’mores at a party.”
She frowned. “I feel like this party would be a lot better if it did,” she grumbled.
Allie wrapped her arm over her shoulder. “Don’t ever change, please,” she kissed her cheek. She laughed lightly.
“If we had a party with a fire, I promise there would be s’mores,” she was very decisive. “It seems sinful to not have them.”
“Hey, love.”
She felt her whole body stiffen and somehow soften at the same time. They both turned to his voice and now she could see in the firelight, that the red colors of his flannel contrasted so sharply with his eyes. The green seemed to amplify—even in the dark. “Hi, Harry,” she smiled sweetly.
“Didn’t know y’would be here.”
“Yeah...uh... this is my best friend and roommate Allie,” she gestured to the girl beside her. “She invited me,” she explained.
“Hi, Harry,” Allie held her hand out. “Heard lots about you. And seen you around a lot,” she said knowingly.
“Hi, Allie,” he said sweetly shaking her hand politely. “Thanks for bringing her,” he grinned winking at her flirtatiously. “Can I steal her from you?” he asked. “If s’alright with you,” he turned back to her, looking into her eyes so deeply she swore he was reading her mind. Not that there were any other thoughts than Harry, Harry, Harry.
“Listen Harry,” Allie said squaring her shoulders.
“Oh my God, Al,” she shoved her back a bit. “Don’t.”
Harry took a step away and looked back at Allie nervously. “This is my best friend,” Allie said with the third drink doing most of the talking.
“Allie!” She hissed.
“I love her so much,” tipsy-Allie was very loving and adoring. A bit flighty too. If she didn’t have a rush of alcohol spinning her blood quickly through her, she might have been a little less aggressive.
“I see,” Harry smiled. “I will take really good care of her Allie. I promise. Y’have nothing t’worry ‘bout,” he shoved a hand back in his pocket. He looked at her shyly, knowing that Harry was also talking directly to her and not just her tipsy best friend. “I should have asked though,” he said with a smile. “D’you...want t’hang out a bit?” He asked.
She smiled and nodded. “Yes, please.”
“How polite,” Allie snickered. Her smile faded rapidly as she glared back at Harry. If she wasn’t so focused on him, she might have missed the way he gulped nervously. “Don’t break her heart, Harry,” she pointed accusingly at him.
“Allie, enough!” She pressed a hand over her face.
“Don’t leave without me, either. I’ll be with my friends,” she said and flitted away as if there was nothing abnormal about her behavior.
“I’m so sorry about her,” she whispered still with a hand over her face. Harry chuckled and shook his head.
“No, s’okay. S’good she cares ‘bout you so much,” he nodded. “I agree completely,” he assured her. “M’really glad t’see you. I was so surprised and distracted...I wasn’t thinking clearly. I should have asked first t’steal y’away...” he glanced at her full cup. “Don’t like your drink?” He asked.
“Um...no, well. Kind of. I’m a little wary of accepting it from someone I don’t know.”
Harry didn’t try to talk her out of how she felt which made her heart flutter more. “S’a good point...d’you want t’walk to the bar down the road?” He asked.
“I’d have to leave Allie,” she smirked. “Not sure I want to put that on someone else.”
“Hold on,” he said and rushed off to the house. It was only a couple minutes, if that. But he reappeared with a can in his hand. “I pulled it out of the fridge when the kid was turned,” he smirked.
She giggled. “My hero,” she laughed and sipped it without fear.
“So... d’you want t’go...find some place quieter t’talk?”
She glanced at the house. “Is there somewhere to talk?” She asked.
“Yeah... m’friend Niall and his friends are hosting. He’s got a keypad lock on his door, and I know the code t’his bedroom.”
“You always try to get girls into your friend’s room?” She asked quirking an eyebrow at him while sipping her drink. He chuckled and shook his head.
“No, s’nothing like that, love. Jus’ want some privacy.”
“Well, that’s fine by me, even by the fire, it’s chilly out here.”
“You’re cold? Here,” he pulled off the top flannel and draped it on her shoulders then put a hand on her lower back to guide her back toward the house. She could feel the stares of others on them as they meandered back. “S’not even winter yet. S’gonna be tough on your southern blood,” he smiled.
She smiled. “My parents are from here. I think there’s some northerner in me yet. Just got to get it out of hibernation.”
Harry chuckled. “You’ll still need a coat, love,” he promised.
If Harry was going to offer his own clothing to her, she wasn’t sure she’d want to bring her own coat at all.

Honest
Angst with a happy ending & Hurt/comfort
Pairing: Hansol Vernon Chwe x Fem!Reader
WC: 2.07k
Warnings: Small mention of aggressive physical behavior in the first paragraph (not any members), mentions of a child needing surgery, a few curse words, crying, & subtle hints of anxiety
Tumblr media
When Hansol is angry with you, he is honest.
he does not yell; the notion of using a misplaced sense of dominance with a masculine shout is unthinkable to him. he does not grab you aggressively, the thought of touching you in a way that wasn’t intimate and gentle never crossing his mind. and Hansol does not use your feelings against you; words shared in whispers passed through dark nights are kept safe within him, a heart-shaped lock as protection that only you have the key to.
so when Hansol is angry with you, he is calm and honest. except that is what hurts you most. it is the fact that everything he says comes straight from the heart. and while you’re thankful he isn’t explosive when angry, his truthful words find a way to harm you more than he realizes.
“I’m just saying, you could stand to be a little more responsible.” he shakes his head, frowning at you in disappointment. “You’re a grown woman, how can you possibly misplace something so important to me; to us?”
your stomach rolls uncomfortably at the implication that you didn’t care enough about your ring to keep it safe. it wasn’t like you did it on purpose. you know how much that ring means to Hansol especially, having been a family heirloom that has been passed down from generations.
but you worked at a hospital, and had no choice but to take it off each time you walked into a surgery. Hansol knew that, but it seemed you needed to remind him. “Don’t make it sound like that, Hansol,” you say briskly, wiping your cheeks. “You know how much I have to take it off, I just refuse to keep it at home because I want it with me at all times.”
He scoffs, “Well, look how that turned out for you.” and your face crumples miserably at his words.
he goes to grab his keys, and you reach for his arm instinctively, “Where are you going? You’re just going to leave while we’re in the middle of something serious?”
he looks you in the eye, giving you a blank stare as he gently removes your hand from his arm. always so soft, even when he’s angry, you think sadly.
“I think we’ve discussed everything needed already. I understand where you’re coming from, but I’m still upset,” he sighs, and you’re not sure what expression shows on your face, but if it’s anything close to how you feel then you’d assume it is the epitome of heartbreak.
“I’m just going to hang out with Shua today, I’ll see you later tonight, okay?” he says, kissing your forehead when you nod brokenly. and with that, he’s out the door, and you finally allow yourself to collapse into sobs.
how could you have been so stupid? misplacing his mother's ring, the most cherished item Hansol has; something he had given to you, entrusted to you. you ignore the incessant tears cascading down your cheeks and think of what you can do. you need to fix this; you need to find the ring.
-
“Dude, you know you’re not being fair with her, right? You know her profession, she literally has no choice but to remove all the shit from her hands.” Joshua reprimands from his place in his kitchen, Hansol sitting on his couch with a cup of coffee.
He blows on it softly, watching the steam disappear before returning. “I know, I know, but you have to understand why I’m so upset too. That ring meant so much to my mother, so much to me. She showed it to me when I was a child and told me it was meant for the one I love most.” he feels his frustration building again and takes a gulp of his drink.
Joshua walks out of the kitchen, coming to sit on the couch next to Hansol. “I get it, I really do, but don’t you think Y/n is also upset about losing it? You’re making it seem like you are the only person who’s upset and who had an attachment to the ring,” he clicks his tongue, “and I know Y/n loved that ring just as much as you did, otherwise you would’ve never given it to her.”
Hansol sits there processing his words, before putting his mug down on the coffee table in front and rubbing his hands on his face. he knows Joshua is right, and now he feels like an ass. “Fuck, okay. You’re definitely right but I kind of- well I did, invalidate her feelings while talking with her.” he looks stressed when he lifts his head, facing Joshua. “I need to apologize.”
“Well, that much is clear.” Joshua nods, patting his friend on his shoulder comfortingly. “Listen, Y/n is quite literally fucking whipped for you. I have never seen someone so in love,”
Hansol smiles at his words, butterflies erupting in his stomach at the thought of your adoring eyes. Joshua giggles at Hansol's smitten expression, “You just need to apologize and reassure her that she is worth more than that ring, because from what you’ve told me, your last conversation made it seem like you had your priorities fucked.” he shrugs.
“Plus, you leaving instead of reassuring her probably made things worse; in fact, she’s probably crying right now.” he points out, eyeing Hansol’s face and waiting for a reaction; and a reaction he gets.
Hansol immediately stands up, throwing on his sweater and grabbing his keys before running to Joshua and hugging him from the couch, “Thank you so much, Shua. I literally don’t know what I’d do without you.” he mumbles. Joshua pats his head softly, “I know, no need to thank me. Just go get your girl, Nonie.”
Hansol nods and flashes him a gummy smile before slipping on his shoes and running out the door.
Joshua shakes his head from the couch, chuckling to himself, “These kids.”
-
Hansol struggles to get the key from his pocket, balancing a bouquet of pink Lilies in one hand and your favorite food in the other. He manages to get the door open and attempts to be quiet as he places the items on the dining table.
the apartment is silent; he squints his eyes in confusion. “Baby? Y/n?” he calls, opening your bedroom door and finding the bed neatly done without you there.
his eyes scan the entire room before he bolts to the living room, frantically looking for you and realizing you’re not there. he immediately fumbles for his phone and clicks your contact. he puts it to his ear, “Pick up, come on Y/n pick up,” he whispers.
“Hi, sorry, you’ve reached my voicemail-”
he hangs up the phone and decides to text you.
To: y/n<3
[06:30]
Baby??? Can you pick up please? [Unread]
I’m sorry for earlier, but I’d like to talk about it now if that’s okay. [Unread]
[07:30]
I’m trying not to do the over protective boyfriend stuff but i’m getting a little anxious, my love. [Unread]
I would understand if you’re mad at me, but would you please just call me back? Please? [Unread]
[08:25]
You’re worrying me, just tell me you’re okay. [Unread]
Let’s talk about it, please? I’m not mad anymore, I just want you to respond, I’m getting worried baby. [Unread]
[09:00]
Y/n, I’m begging you to just tell someone you’re okay. I’ve called around and no one knows where you are. [Unread]
If you don’t want to come home, that’s fine, but please let us know that you’re safe. [Unread]
Hansol is two seconds from leaving his apartment and physically searching for you himself before the front door opens. his head snaps up, watching you sniffle and hang your coat up, placing your keys on the counter with a sigh.
he walks to you with quick steps, and you jump, startled when you look up and he’s right there. you open your mouth to speak, but he grabs your waist gently, pulling you into him.
“Where were you?! You didn’t pick up any of my calls, I was so fucking worried, Y/n.” he cards a hand through your hair, trying to soothe not only you, but himself.
you overcome your shock and place your hands on his arms, moving away so you can look at him, “I’m sorry, Nonie. My phone died and I didn’t have anyone else’s to use.”
Hansol makes a face at your words, staring at your appearance. your hair is messy, your eyes are swollen, and you look utterly exhausted; Hansol wants to cry at your disheveled look. “Baby, you can’t just go out for hours on end without telling a single person where you’re going, and then not respond to any of your calls or texts.” he flicks your forehead softly and you pout in response.
“I… was thinking about our conversation earlier,” you murmur, and Hansol's face softens. “I had misplaced the ring before an eight-to-ten-hour surgery.” tears fill your eyes again as Hansol cups your face, wiping them before they can fall. “I was so tired, and it was a little boy and I just… my head wasn’t there and I forgot where I placed the ring beforehand.” you sniffle, looking at Hansol's chest to avoid his eyes.
he lifts your face gently with the hand cupping your cheek and pecks your lips once. “I am so incredibly fucking sorry. you did nothing wrong, I was being an unreasonable ass.”
you stare into his irises, bottom lip pushing out as he swipes over it, “It’s okay, Nonie,” you whisper. but he shakes his head in response, “It’s absolutely not okay. You’re allowed to be really freaking mad at me right now, baby. You’re too forgiving.” he smiles, kissing your temple, “But that’s one of the many things I love about you, I guess.”
“You guess?!” you scrunch your nose at him, and he laughs, gums peeking out adorably as he kisses your nose. “I love everything about you, you know that.” your cheeks redden, and you look away with a faux sulk. Hansol is momentarily distracted by the very cute face you are making, when he remembers what he’s been worried about for hours.
“Okay, I understand why you lost the ring, and really, I’m not mad about it anymore, but that doesn’t really explain where you’ve been all these hours.” he reminds gently, tucking your hair behind your ears.
you look up at him somewhat abashed, “Ah… right. So after our conversation, I decided to… look for the ring?” you squeak out the last part, and Hansol looks at you incredulously, “You’ve been searching for the ring for hours?” he shouts, and you shrink in on yourself at his tone.
Hansol sighs when he looks at your expression, lowering his voice, “Baby, I’m really not mad, at least not at you.” he ruffles his hair with one hand. “I’m just so pissed at myself for letting you think you had to go search for it for hours. I wish you didn’t have to put yourself through that.”
he cups your face, drawing you closer as your noses touch, “No ring in this entire universe is worth as much as you. I can replace a ring, heirloom or not; but there is only one you, and I would give up everything for you.”
you can’t help yourself and drag your hand up his neck, into his hair as you pull his head down, lips touching his. he kisses you with fervor; with love, and you smile into the kiss, prompting Hansol to do the same. when you part, he pecks you over, and over again, until you’re giggling and pushing him away as he laughs.
with bright eyes, he grabs your hand and drags you to the couch, forcing you to sit down. you look up at him questioningly, “I bought your favorite, wait here and I’ll reheat it.”
you nod with a smile and he kisses your cheek before running to the kitchen.
that night, Hansol reassures you with more kisses and cuddles, promising you all the love he has to offer. the two of you go to bed, your face tucked into his neck as you breathe in his soft cologne, staring at the pink Lilies sitting in a vase beside you.
you fiddle with the ring on your finger as you smile into Hansol's neck, eyes drooping on the verge of sleep. well, you could surprise Hansol with the ring tomorrow, you supposed, after all, he was yours and you were his, regardless of any ring.

That one flight home
part 6 to That one Christmas flight
summary: Kiss me hard before you go.
warning: oral sex, cheesy af, swear words I guess, cliche probably, typos most definitely
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's inevitably a strange experience to wake up next to someone you'd never slept next to before. Y/N kept waking up as her heart was testing the limits of the amount of heartbeats a human body can entail before it becomes a condition. She watched Lando, as he snored ever so quietly, saving every moment in her memory. Unlike her, Lando was used to sleepless nights. And unlike her, the strangest part of their first night together for him was the fact he fell asleep in the middle of his sentence. So simple, so easy. His mind and soul safe and sound. Perhaps he made the leap of the first night slumber on the first flight, when she rested her head on his shoulder for almost six hours.
When he woke up, she was standing by the window, watching whatever seemed to be happening on the street. He stayed silent, admiring the figure and the way light higlighted her curves. Only once she turned around, he spoke to her.
"Hey you...early morning person, I see," he grunted, wanting nothing more that to return to any of their previous activities, starting with cuddling.
"Yeah, sadly so. Would love to sleep til 12 sometimes," she said and glanced over to him morning boner. Lando noticed her look and shook his head.
"What can I say, impossible to control that."
"I like it, it's cute!"
"Did you just call my boner cute? Ouch," he pretended to get hurt.
She returned back to the bed. "It's cute that you have one."
"Hard to imagine not having one." They locked their lips having absolutely no care in the world for morning breath.
//
"Breakfast?" she asked, hungry as ever. It was a hard decision as she absolutely loved being locked in his embrace.
Lando had something different in mind, but god he was starving.
They got dressed and lazily strolled downstairs to a lovely breakfast patio. Y/N was over the moon internally about how touchy Lando became with her. His and on her lower back was something she could get used to very quickly. Y/N noticed few looks coming their way as they sat down and could not quite pin down why. First thing on her mind was that they looked a cute couple. She disregarded that as she remembered that she was sitting here with Lando Norris.
"Did you notice that people were looking at us?" she remarked over her morning coffee.
"Yeah...But like in a different way than they usually stare at me. Fuck it honestly, we have few hours before return to the madness so let's just chill," he smiled without a care in the world. Y/N relaxed again. They chatted away for few minutes before an older Italian lady, one of the fellow guests, approached them. Lando was almost ready for a photograph and a plea for confidentiality - that was until she opened her mouth and started screaming at them in Italian. He had no idea what any of those words meant, so he searched for a clue on Y/N's face. The poor girl sat there with a red face, making it really hard for Lando not to laugh at this situation, so he sipped his tea to hide his mouth. Once this lady left, silence fell over. Quite few people were giving them looks.
"Was she commenting on my hair?" asked Lando to ease the tension. "I am having an exceptionally good hair day."
Y/N took a deep breath. "From what I've gathered, we are both absolute filthy pigs, who have no manners and use this nice hotel as a brothel."
"Ah, nice. Cool!" Lando respectfully waved at the angry lady.
"Do you think we were like loud yesterday?" It was wrong how proud it had been making him.
"We're in Italy for god sake, isn't it all suppose to be little louder here?"
Y/N shot him a look. He sent her a wink.
Time was a cruel lady. The pair was starting to reach the final minutes of their encounter. The quickly wrapped up their breakfast, sharing amused looks in silence. Lando felt a strange discomfort when he saw her checking out the time.
//
They were back kissing in their hotel room in minutes. It was impossible to do anything else. They were making out on the bed when the housekeeper came in. Lando stopped them in the door: "Late check out, please! Late check out. Yeah, thanks." He then turned back to Y/N. "I'm not done with you, honey." With a cheeky look on his eyes, he began to remove Y/N's shorts and underwear.
"Pretty," he commented once she was naked. She rolled her eyes and bit her tongue. Lando went onto putting slow kisses from her feet all the way to her thighs, testing which spots worked the best. Once he was almost the top of her thighs, he looked up to her and gently bit. When he saw that she was ok with it, he used more force. Y/N let out a shy scream of pain, the kind of pain that is dancing on the edge of pleasure and aching.
She moaned his name softly, as his tongue continued where it had started and abruptly ended the night before. She touched his hair and held his head in the place. Lando enjoyed her being demanding. He varied his moves and meticulously burned her reactions into his memory as if he was suppose to be completing his exams on this. Once he fund the specific moves she responded to the most, he repeated those until she could not continue no more. He watched as she reached the high for two times. There were few things making him feel genuinely proud of himself like this has. This what people meant when they described mindblowing, Y/N realized. "Come here to me," she demanded once she was done. Lando went to cuddle with her, face to face, watching her breath slowing down again. The laid like this for few minutes, neither of them wanting to break the silence. Until one of them had to.
"We'll need to get going so you don't miss your flight," Lando whispered. Y/N wanted nothing else then to miss her flight and stay stuck in this room with him.
"Yeah, I know. Just one more minute."
//
The drive to the airport was unusually quiet. Lando had his flight later than Y/N did, but insisted on going with her earlier to accompany her. Airports were becoming her least favorite thing, as another goodbye was knocking on the door. They held hands casually all the way to the check in. Another last kiss. The kind to leave sting.
"Give me something of yours. So that I have something to remind me of you," he asked softly. Taken back a bit, Y/N took her necklace off and handed it to him and exchanged it for Lando's hoodie.
Y/N was the last passenger to board the plane taking her back home. Lando had the same coffee at the same place as he did yesteday, only this time it had a weirdly bitter aftertaste. He played with her necklace, she wore his hoodie trying to soak his perfume in while it was still fresh.
//
First hangover is always the worst. Pains in weird places one did not know existed, blood flowing in a strange pace. Everything slightly out of place and sun just a little too bright on the tired eyes. Y/N got drunk a little too quickly on her racer crush and the come down was more like a vertical crash down.
The evening she arrived back home was a joyous one. She got out the plane and almost danced all the way to the train heading to the centre. Met up with her friends and would just not shut up about her time with Lando. Unstoppable force that would talk the most skilled politician into listening her talk about the way his hair curled and his touch burned. Like every other drug addict, once the reality hit and the high lost its intense hue, she crashed.
What was supposed to happen now? Monday morning rolled in and new chapter began. The darkest thoughts she kept at bay for long enough got landed the main role. It was just a hook up to him. Nothing more. He was way beyond her league. She gave him what he wanted and he will not be able to give her what she wants. He is already is somebody else's arms by now. All the other guys will be just a different shade of gray compared to the bright orange that followed his charming aura.
"Y/N? Yes, she is a hard to get bitch, she will not fall easily for just about anyone. Not the relationship kind, that's for sure", is how she'd probably get described as by her friends. Her best kept secret was that she was an absolute hopeless romantic. Fell a little too hard for every crush she had and never found a way how to attract those she wished to spend her days and nights with. Her evening with Lando was the closest she got to her deepest dreams coming true. Every other situationship she has had in the past was so dull compared the how loudly this one screamed. So of course, when no messages came in from him, her natural instinct to draw herself back kicked in. A lovely coping mechanism that has destroyed lots of chances in the past. Even though she was well aware of that, it was the road she knew how to walk and somehow could not help herself to avoid it.
A lifeless copy of the bubbly girl from this weekend roamed the halls of Bologna university, digging her self into a deeper hole than needed. All those sad songs suddenly made sense.
//
Life came back screaming loudly at Lando. As soon as he landed back it was one thing after another to make up for the time. Races comes first, always. Even if it does not on that day naturally, there will always be several people to force it upon him. In those randomly scattered moment where his mind could run freely, he immediately went back to the salt cured late night air in Italy and the kisses with the one who'd been occupying his mind for longer than he'd be willing to admit. Life demanded a lot from him, so daydreaming had to be put on hold.
One thought haunted Lando no matter how much he tried to ignore it. Y/N was just so pure in his eyes. Unaffected by clouds of fame, free in whatever she wanted to do whenever she desired to. Not having to face constant criticism and prying looks. He still hadn't processed fully the effect this has had on his relationships in the past. How it gradually changed the tone of the romance, until it destroyed it completely. He fell for her hard. Fascinated by the lightness that surrounded her. She radiated, lifting him up to her heights when he was with her and that was something you just could not buy.
She was grounded. Belonged somewhere, was a local and a regular. Had a life centred in one place (mostly, excluded family), group of university friends and was figuring this life out on her own, without anyone inserting their own ambitions into her. There were no people relying on how she did and he almost envied the freedom this provided her. A feeling he was sure she could not properly understand, as he did not as well before responsibility had been thrusted on him.
He loved his formula 1 life. But a part of him felt strangely inadequate around those who have had these student life experiences. She could do anything.
He needed time to think about his next move, if there was any to ever happen. Gut feeling was to fly her out here to spend time with him, introduce her to everyone that walked by and make sure she falls for him at least half as strongly as he fell for her. On the other hand, he also felt like clumsy giant trying to pick up an origami dove - once he would, he would inevitably crush her and damage the wings, the kind of she did not know she had. The kind of wings one starts to see only once they are impaired. Maybe keeping their affair as it was now was the only way how to keep the light in this memory.
But at night, when the noises of his busy life went quiet and the the intrusive thought we like "yeah baby, let's go", he buried himself deep in his favorite sad songs and dreamed of touching her again, of seeing her smile and of her proudly introducing him to her friends. Sleep was something Lando struggled with even on a normal day, but on days like these it was like as if it was a secret language he was never taught to speak.

Jealous. That’s what Y/N was. In the ugliest sense of the sinful word. Gone was any internal morale compass guiding her to not go against other girls. Feminism said goodbye when she scrolled down endless adoring comments on his fan page.
She did not give two shits about his fame or god forbid money. When she met him, she had no idea what he meant to so many people. A cheeky well dressed funny boy with a dream, that’s what she saw. Seeing the pure adoration thousands of people had for him was overwhealming. So in the random moments between other people talking, she imagined meeting him in another life, one where he was just one of the other students and she finally got to relive the uni romance she had wished for - cute study dates, making out at parties and sitting at local balconies, over looking the historical town. It was becoming a little too consuming. Like a headache that won’t go away.
She wondered why - why was there a huge ever-present hole in her stomach making her nauseous.

things that I overlooked in PJO the first time / small, funny things I noticed during my reread
Part 3: The Titan's Curse
The truth was I was kind of disappointed to hear that she liked her new school so much. It was the first time she'd gone to school in New York. I'd been hoping to see her more often.
I tried to concentrate on little things, like the crepe-paper streamers and the punch bowl - anything but that fact that Annabeth was taller than me, and my hands were sweaty and probably gross, and I kept stepping on her toes.
"The General?" I asked. Then I realised I'd said it in a French accent. "I mean... who's the General?" I want this part to be in the show
"Sweet! Let's go! [to CHB]" said Nico. this breaks my heart. he was so excited in this book
Tyson thought Annabeth was just about the coolest thing since peanut butter (and he seriously loved peanut butter).
"How would you kidnap an immortal goddess? Is that even possible?" "Well, yeah. I mean, it happened to Persephone." "But she was like, the goddess of flowers." Grover looked offended. "Springtime." you tell him grover
"That's some serious danger you're facing." Connor Stoll said. (I liked how he said you and not we.) I'm just imagining the rest of the campers not bothering to go on quests cause it's always the same few demigods and they don't care, they're just chilling safe at CHB while Percy and Annabeth do their things
The creature looked at me sadly. "Moooo!" But I couldn't understand his thoughts. I only speak horse. Percy Jackson speaks two languages: English and Horse
With a shiver, I realised that five hundred or a thousand years from now, Bianca di Angelo would look exactly the same as she did today. She might be having a conversation like this with some other half blood long after I was dead but Bianca would still look twelve years old. ouch
"It wants to kill us!" Thalia said. "Of course." Grover said. "It's wild!" "So how is that a blessing?" Bianca asked.
"That's us," he said. "Those five nuts right there." "Which one is me?" I asked. "The little deformed one," Zoe suggested.
When she smiled at me, just for a moment she looked a little like Annabeth. I know everyone talks about this part but I can't help but bring it up again, they are so cute
"Woah, first of all, I never said anything about love. And second, what's up with tragic!" little does he know. also, Percy is so incredibly insightful in this book but he's also so jealous of Annabeth and Luke and so upset about the idea of her joining the hunters yet still can't figure out that he likes her
"Seven hundred feet tall," I said. "Built in the 1930s." "Five million cubic acres of water," Thalia said. Grover sighed. "Largest construction project in the United States." Zoe stared at us. "How do you know all that?" "Annabeth," I said. "She liked architecture." I cannot explain how much this little bit means to me.
The girl I'd just tried to slice in half yelped and dropped her Kleenex. "Oh my god." she shouted. "Do you always kill people when they blow their nose?" Rachel's here!!! I love her
Five minutes later, Zoe had me outfitted in a ragged flannel shirt and jeans three sizes too big, bright red sneakers, and a floppy rainbow hat. someone draw this and tag me. what an outfit
Suddenly it occurred to me: this had happened to her before. She had been cornered on Half-Blood Hill. She'd willingly given her life for her friends. But this time, she couldn't save us. How could I let that happen to her? he is the most empathetic, wholesome guy, I love Percy
"Can't this go any faster?" Thalia demanded. Zoe glared at her. "I cannot control traffic." You both sound like my mother." I said. "Shut up!" they said in unison. I kind of wish we got more Thalia and Zoe interactions... they would've made such a great enemies to lovers dynamic, if Zoe didn't die
"Get away from my daughter!" Dr Chase called down, and his machine gun burst to life, peppering the ground with bullet holes and startling the whole group of monsters into scattering. "Dad?" yelled Annabeth in disbelief.
Grover went off with his satyr friends to spread the word about our strange encounter with the magic of Pan. Within an hour, the satyrs were all running around agitated, asking where the nearest espresso bar was.
"No," I said. "I choose the prophecy. It will be about me." "Why are you saying that?" she cried. "You want to be responsible for the whole world?" It was the last thing I wanted, but I didn't say that. I knew I had to step up and claim it. "I can't let Nico be in any more danger." I said. might I remind you this boy is 13/14 and has the whole world on his shoulders (both literally at some point and figuratively)
I feel like these are just getting longer and longer but again, I will be back for part 4!

----------------
The snow was covering the beaten-up road just as it did every time around this year. Traces of your existence were left via the horse hoof prints now stamped in the fresh layer of white, a physical reminder that you were actually here even though you said you'd never come back unless you were needed for a life or death situation. Sadly, that's exactly why you were here.
Your mother had fallen ill. Not with just some minor cough or sniffle, but chills and a fever that hadn't lessened at all in the past two weeks. Everyone feared the worst for your mother, which left them no other choice but to spread the word until it reached you in the next civilization over from Jackson.
When word about your mother's condition finally reached you, you didn't hesitate to start grabbing your essentials and stuffing them all in a barely usable backpack as you set off on your horse and endured the two-day travel in the harsh winter conditions that only the month of December could bring.
During your journey you barely slept, you barely ate, you barely did anything for yourself because the only thing that you could think about was your mother laid up in bed in the infirmary, a place you had been a time or two with...her.
Of course, you knew it was severely possible you would have to come in contact with the very reason you left Jackson to begin with. That's when the fresh hatred that you felt when you left Jackson started to boil over again.
If Ellie didn't have to be a stupid, idiotic, ill-tempered, non-communicative piece of shit, you could've been near your mother by now. You would've been the first person to know when she was ill and, though you knew it was illogical adrenaline thinking, somehow you kept arguing with yourself that you could've prevented her from getting sick.
Even if it didn't make sense and even if you knew that wasn't necessarily true, you did know that if your ex-girlfriend hadn't driven you out of this town, to begin with, you would be with your mother right this second.
These thoughts swirled around your brain all throughout the journey to Jackson and didn't quit until you stopped at the massive front gates that separated the safe civilization from the outside realm that didn't promise safety or protection from those infected with the cordyceps virus.
Two men stood on guard-same as it always has been even though a few years separated you from the last time you were here. You recognized both of them and they must've as well as they nodded in your direction before pulling the chains that opened one of the gate's massive doors to allow you entry.
Jackson was lit up by string lights and barrels filled with orange fire that lined the main road. It hadn't stirred far away from the Jackson you knew years ago-this brought you comfort and discomfort all swirled into one.
You patted the side of your horse as you swiftly jumped down from the saddle, making your boots crunch against the snow-covered dirt path.
Slowly, your feet moved as your eyes took in everything from the new crack that was set directly down the center of the stone chapel, all the way to the tree that seemed to have grown two feet since the last you saw it. Things had changed, even if it was only slightly, yet everything still felt so familiar and untouched, as if you had only been gone on a month-long journey. Except it had been two years.
Two years ago you were a child. Two years ago the only thing on your mind was how hopelessly in love you were with Ellie. The daydreams were never-ending; you pictured having a house with her, getting married with her, growing old with her-everything was with her.
This was the problem, rather, she was the problem.
You had managed to entangle your life so much in Ellie that you had lost sight of your own hobbies, your own friends, and your own life. So, when you and Ellie had one of the largest fights in your relationship, you ran.
You ran so far and so fast that you didn't give Ellie the slightest chance to protest or apologize. Instead, she began to notice your absence around town until she started asking about you. Nobody else had known of your whereabouts either, except for your mom.
Ellie nodded as your mother spoke of your departure. She wasn't given many details about where you were going and why you were going. All she knew was that you left with your backpack, your horse, and a bow and arrow thrown over your shoulder.
It's funny how things come full circle. Now, two years later, with your backpack, horse, and trusty bow and arrow, you were back in the very place you had tried so desperately to erase from your mind.
But you didn't have time to dwell on this town and that girl-you had your mother who needed you. Thankfully, the infirmary didn't stray too far from the downtown area of Jackson, and before long, you were tying your horse to the post just outside of the main door.
Immediately, you were greeted by an unfamiliar face.
"Can I help you?"
"My mom," you spoke with a racing heart, "my mom is here."
Quickly, the confusion faded from the stranger's face and a look of sadness was quick to replace.
"Oh, oh right. We've been expecting you... she's right over here."
The walk was short yet agonizing as you passed beds, both empty and filled, until you saw the very person who gave you life.
Settled underneath a hand-knitted blanket, your mother laid. Her eyes were sunken, her jaw was sharp and lacking any facial muscle; She looked like a corpse.
You whispered, "mama", as your hand came to lightly brush against the cold skin of her cheek.
—--
You'd sat with your mother for nearly two hours before the night nurse came around and thought it would be best if you headed home and got some rest. She wasn't wrong, yet you still took offense, but begrudgingly went along with her request.
The heavy wooden door swung open with force due to the icy wind that had taken over the state of Wyoming. You felt yourself shiver, but you weren't sure if it was because of your nerves or the cold hitting your face.
"Holding up alright girl?" You said as your hand came to pat along the blanket you had placed on top of your horse before going into the infirmary. "We're heading home now...well, it used to be my home."
With your horse's lead in hand, you walked through the new inch of snow that piled itself on top of the inch you had ridden through hours ago. Setting off on a familiar path to the home you grew up in felt just as mysterious as the fog that was beginning to gradient the dark sky with gray.
"Is that who I think it is?"
The rough, deep voice nearly startled you as you spun around on your heels. It couldn't be...could it?
"Joel?"
Gray hairs stuck to Joel's forehead as he sat high and mighty on the top of his horse. He looked as if he was fresh off of patrol.
"Never thought I would see you around here again. How've you been?"
Your eyes diverted as Joel swung his leg over his horse before his feet met the same graveled-covered snow as you.
"Ah, none of my business anyway," he said once several seconds of silence had passed, "just glad to see again."
Your eyes finally met him as your lips spread into a soft, yet genuine smile.
You muttered, "Nice to see you too Joel", and you meant it with every fiber of your being. Though Ellie had tainted so many things for you, you knew she could never pour a glaze of hate over the one man who you thought to be the closest thing to a father that you'd ever had.
The both of you started walking down the road towards the direction of your home in such a natural state, it felt as if the years you had lived an entirely different life weren't real-as if you had never left. It nearly made you forget about the very reason why you became so close with Joel in the first place...but she would never be hard to forget for you.
"How've you been?"
Joel shrugged, "Same old, same old. Still killing clickers and working on guitars when I can."
"You're still doing patrols?", you asked genuinely. Not that Joel was ancient, but it was clear that he was beginning to show his age.
He chuckled with bright eyes staring straight ahead, "You didn't think a couple years would have me bedridden did ya darlin". His words were spoken with an amusement that had you embarrassed that you'd asked such a crass thing to begin with.
"I'd never imagine anything could keep you bed ridden, Joel."
Joel chuckled and peered over in your direction, "I knew I always liked you."
The both of you turned down another path in silence as your conversation naturally tapered off, thankfully, without a word spoken about Ellie. Joel knew better.
The house you'd grown up in was getting closer and closer - a weight of anxiety began to till up your lungs as your breath started becoming heavy.
What if the second you walked in that door, you'd be met with all those feelings you chose to leave behind in Jackson? What if you weren't as okay as you had been telling yourself? You'd never been so scared of silence and seclusion.
"Here we are," Joel spoke while he watched the way you looked at the home as if it were something repulsive and poisonous. He could sense your uneasy feelings.
"You know, you're always welcome at mine.”
The moment the words left his mouth, Joel nearly regretted the option he gave just by looking at the way your face turned downwards.
Softly, his hand fell to the top of your shoulder as you looked down at you. “I’ll make sure no one comes around and bothers you too.”
You knew exactly who this “no one” was and you were grateful that despite Joel being Ellie’s father, he still knew to reassure you of your emotional safety.
“Think about it. Alright?”
You nod at his words as he smiles in a way that is both sympathetic and kind. He viewed you as fragile- you hated it, but you also knew you weren’t feeling the strongest right now either. Your mother was usually your comfort and with that comfort not being available, Joel and his parental care was exactly what you needed right now.
“Tomorrow.”
Joel nodded, his smile turning up a couple inches more. “I’ll get a room prepared for ya then. It’ll be nice to have some new company..well, not entirely new, but..oh there I go again yapping. You know what I’m saying.”
You nodded with a hint of a laugh, “goodnight Joel. See you tomorrow.”
With that, he turned his back and walked the five extra minutes to his home. Meanwhile, you tucked your beloved horse inside the barn right next to your old home, ensuring it had all of its essentials before you made your way into your old home.
It was identical to how you’d left it. The same photo of you and your mom was framed on the living room wall. And.. ”oh god Mom”, you sighed at the 5x7 framed photo of you and Ellie that was from maybe five or so years ago. Back when everything wasn’t complicated and when you’d never thought that your best friend would be the person to make you leave this town.
You walked around the rest of the home examining various similarities and new items until a massive yawn pried itself out of your jaw. At that, you walked yourself into your old bedroom, which was left untouched, and got into much comfier clothes before slipping under the covers and trying your best to fall asleep.
If only your mind would shut up.
After tossing and turning for god knows how long, you decided getting up and having a reset could prove to be the cure for your momentary insomnia. So, with a heavy and aching head and shoulders, you stood up with a sigh.
As your eyes squinted and glanced around the room, Your eyes landed on a match. The small wooden stick sat between your fingers until it lit up with bright orange light.
The tall candle illuminated the room, giving you a better look at the nostalgic pieces of paper and pictures you’d tapped onto your wall from teenagehood and beyond. It's crazy how time went past, yet in this room, things seemed to keep the world from spinning on its axis.
As you shook the now extinguished match stick, the familiar smell of smoke made you remember something- you had a pre-rolled joint in your bag that you knew would come in handy and look at just how right you were.
After pulling your coat over your shoulders and securing the match box in your pocket, you set off for the front porch.
It was dark and deathly quiet, just how you liked it. The only faint, distant noise you could decipher was the light thump of a bass-heavy tune that you assumed was coming from a busy, Saturday night at the Tipsy Bison. You smiled thinking back to your past nights at the local town bar. So many memories…most of them spent with Ellie and other friends.
Your mom also loved the tipsy bison on any given night. She was often the type to greet everyone with a smile and friendly hello regardless of whether you were her best friend or an acquaintance. God, you missed her.
Before you could get too deep into anxiety and sadness over your mom's health, you decided a joint was in order. You weren’t about to process anything major without some sort of sedative especially when you were sleep deprived and being reminded of past pain nearly everywhere you went in this damn town.
Just as you did with the candle, a match stick was lit and touched to the tip of your pre-roll as you inhaled the smoke slowly…. Damn, did it feel good.
Instantly, you felt your shoulders slump downwards with every inhale you took until your eyes were properly heavy. But there was that music again, and you’d be lying if you said you weren’t intrigued to see if it was still the same old place that, much like your old bedroom, seemed to make time stand still.
Without much thought, you began walking in the direction of the bar you knew and used to love oh so much. You wondered if it still held that barley and wood smell or if they still served Maria’s fresh bread. Oh, and if Seth was still a prick, though, you really already knew the answer to that.
The lights you’d seen hours ago were now hanging above your head like small little halos that almost felt like a shield from the outside world. It felt safe.
Your joint was nearly gone, with maybe a few more puffs left to it, as you continued walking until you were outside of the bustling wooden building. From the outside, the music was much more prevalent, along with the giggles and chatter from the rest of the townsfolk that were tucked inside.
Before you could decide on going inside the establishment or not, a loud group of people came bursting through the front doors. This group looked a little too familiar for your liking.
Dina and Jesse wore matching, drunken smiles as the entire group dove deep into a conversation about something that seemed rather amusing. There were a couple others that you weren’t quick to recognize except for the person to the right of Jesse who nearly made you run to your mother's home at top speed.
Ellie’s presence didn’t catch your eye at first, something you blamed on the substance tucked between your fingers, but when you did put the visual together with all the past memories, it felt like an avalanche. Thankfully, you were able to take her in first before she made eye contact with you.
Her hair was down and a plain colored shirt and army green jacket covered her upper half. She looked good, but you weren’t about to let your mind entertain any other thoughts of her before you turned away and hoped that she would somehow miss your figure in the middle of the walkway. Sadly, your hopes were dashed.
Though you were quick to move your eyes, focus on your feet and the joint you were currently inhaling, you could feel Ellie’s eyes boring a hole into the side of your head as if she were trying to decide if seeing you was real or a hallucination. And who's to say she wasn’t doing exactly that. However, a squealing voice broke both of you out of your objectives.
Your name was yelled from a person in the group whose voice you knew all too well. Your disguise had been recognized and it wasn’t easy for you to ignore it…and some part of you didn’t want to either.
You closed your eyes as you took one last hit, breathed in-then out, and lifted your head.
Dina was barreling towards you with flimsy legs that were much more clumsy than when she was sober. This made you smile somehow, despite the oncoming reunion with your ex that you were dreading.
“Hey Dina”, you said just before her arms enveloped your shoulders in possibly the tightest hug you’ve ever felt.
“What are you doing here?!” She slurred as both of her hands moved to cup both sides of your cheeks. You were both putting on quite a show for the group, especially the ones who, you assumed, had no idea who you were.
“I couldn’t sleep so i thought-”
“No, no! I mean here-In Jackson. What are you doing here?”
Your smile instantly dropped as you thought of your ill-stricken mother who almost looked like a stranger to you. You kicked your feet causing a puff of dust to whirl through the air. “My mom.”
Dina’s glossy eyes remained, but her gleeful expression shifted the instant you said the two words. “God, I'm sorry. Of course, that’s why you’re here.” Her voice trailed off as her hand brushed your upper arm.
“How are you holding up?”
You shrugged and it was honest. “I don’t know. I’m finding it hard to feel anything right now.”
Dina made an understanding nod just as Jesse came into your line of view with arms held open wide.
“Bring it in stranger.”
A familiar smoky, leather scent encircled the both of you as you allowed yourself to fully embrace your old friend. Jesse smelt the same as he always had which brought a comfort that you didn’t know you were in need of.
His large arms squeezed you briefly before pulling his body backward and greeting you with a sympathetic smile.
“Never thought I would see you again.”
You smiled timidly, “I didn’t think I'd see you again either.”
“Not that I'm complaining.”
“Better not be,” you joked as your hand lightly smacked along his coat-covered arm in faux scolding.
Just then, the figure directly behind Jesse cleared their throat in a successful attempt at gaining the group's attention.
Your eyes met hers and it was instant chaos. The best you could do was press your lips together and nod in her direction. The silence between the both of you was pathetic and sad.
“If you feel like it, we’ll be around. Come say hi if you can.” Dina said with a nurturing tone that was trying its best to cover up the obvious tension and awkwardness that Ellie’s close proximity was causing.
Your eyes felt like weights that you had to force away from hers as you pulled eye contact from Ellie and looked toward your friend with a nod. “I’ll try to see you again before I head back home.”
You swore you saw Ellie flinch in the background at the mention of your departure. You tried your best not to care or question.
“One more hug please?” Dina held out her arms- Jesse mimicked her as well.
“You guys are ridiculous”, you teased with a smile as you allowed a group hug between the three of you to seal your interaction for the night.
After the embraces, you were left to watch the group walk off further into the distance as their descent morphed more and more with the darkness of the night. As if she could feel the weight of your glance on her back, Ellie peered over her shoulder and looked straight at you just before the group's bodies became dark. And even though you couldn’t see her, you knew she would’ve been quick to turn herself back around and pretend that you meant nothing to her.
What a good liar she could be to herself and others when she wanted to be.

“Reckless”
Summary: You were always known as a reckless person, but this time it wasn’t your fault
Pairing: Wandanat x reader
Word Count: 1,161
Warnings: Some arguing, Getting shot, Surgery, Blood
“Don’t go on this mission sweetheart” Nat told you as you got your bag ready. You turned to look at her and glared at her. This is how it always went, Wanda and Nat didn’t want you to go on a mission that didn’t include them, you guys would argue and make up when you came back. “Can we not start this right now? You always do this when you guys aren’t on one of my missions” “because we won’t be there to keep you safe” Wanda answered.
You scoffed, “I don’t get why you guys don’t trust me, I never put up an act when I’m not included on one of your missions and you guys never make it a big deal with each other,” now Nat scoffed. “Because you're reckless, you need to be kept in check” You stared at her in shock. “I’m not reckless, I do what I have to do to complete the mission and save everyone”
“Fine Y/N, go then but I swear if Clint tells me you did something dumb, I’m suspending you” you groaned, “you can’t do that Natasha”' You argued, but you were shut down by their glares. “You know I can, one word to Fury and it’s through” she said as she stormed out of the room. Wanda looked at you softly, “be careful, I love you” she said as she kissed your forehead and walked out to calm Nat down.
You walked to the quinjet with your head down, Clint greeted you with a smile which turned into a frown when you didn’t even look at him. “Trouble in paradise?’ he asked, putting a hand on your shoulder as Bucky flew the plane. You nodded as you played with your fingers, everyone knew when you guys had an argument since you always got all mopey. “You know how they get when I go on a mission without them” you mumbled, Clint nodded, “I know, Nat threatened me right now to keep you safe” you smiled a bit at that. “It’s okay kid, this mission will be a fast one, you’ll be able to talk to them later” you nodded and started focusing more on the mission.
What had started off as an easy mission turned into an ambush. You all made it out alive, but you had gotten shot in your hip, it was Bucky who carried you back and put pressure on your wound the whole way back. Clint paced back and forth getting the emergency kit and counting down his minutes. He knew Nat and Wanda were going to have his head for this. None of you saw it coming, right when you stepped a foot in the base shots started being fired at you, Clint thought it was luck that him and Bucky didn’t get hit, and you only got hit once.
Clint already contacted med bay to be ready as the ship landed. Bucky quickly scooped you up and carried you there. You whimpered as you cuddled into his shoulder, “stay with me” he spoke softly. “I want Nat and Wands” you mumbled as you cried more. “I know, I know” he looked down at you sadly, you lost a lot of color and eyes were shut.
Once he laid you on the bed, the medical team shooed him out. He sat down on the chair and looked at his bloody covered hands. A couple minutes went by and Nat and Wanda rushed in. “Is she okay?” Nat demanded as she gripped Bucky’s shoulder. “I don’t know, they're doing surgery right now” he told them. They looked down at his hands horrified, “Fuck, why does she have to be so fucking reckless” Nat practically cried.
“It wasn’t her fault, they ambushed us” Clint spoke up from behind. Nat continued to pace back and forth. “Nat, please, stop pacing, it's not doing anything. Everything will be okay, I can feel her. She’s fighting through this” Wanda comforted but in reality she was also terrified, but her being able to feel you comforted her.
They held each other as they waited, Bucky left to shower and Clint left to get them food. The doctor came out, they quickly stood up. “Is she okay?” Wanda rushed out before he could talk. “She’s okay and stable” they let out a sigh of relief. “Can we see her?” Nat asked, she was eager to see you. Although the doctor said I was okay, she needed to see it for herself. The doctor nodded, and they rushed in. They frowned at the sight of you in the hospital bed hooked up to an iv and an oxygen mask over your face. That sat down and watched over you. There were tears still falling down occasionally as they kept replaying the argument. After eating the food Clint brought them they both fell asleep with their heads on your leg.
You whimpered as you woke up, you opened your eyes for one second but closed them again because of the light. You cried out as you felt pain in your hip and sat up waking Wanda and Nat. “Hey, hey, lay back down” Wanda gently pushed your shoulder down, you shook your head as you grabbed your hip. Nat left the room to get a doctor. You realized there was an oxygen mask on your face and took it off much to Wanda’s dismay. “Wha… What happened?” you asked, clearly disoriented. “You got shot baby, they ambushed you guys” Wanda gently explained as she finally got you to lay back down. “Is Clint and Buck okay?” You asked, making Wanda smile a bit. “Their okay baby, just scared for you” she stroked back your hair and kissed your forehead. “Are you okay?” you asked now, noticing the tears in her eyes and her tear-stained cheeks. She nodded, grabbing your hand and kissing it. “I’m perfectly fine baby, just worry about yourself for right now” she tried putting the mask back on you but you whined and she reluctantly let it be.
The doctor came in smiling. “I see our patient has woken up” Wanda nodded as you yawned and rubbed your eyes. “Will get you more pain medicine. Looks like she doesn’t need that anymore.” he said as he changed your iv and took the oxygen mask. Nat came over smiling as you did grabby hands for her. “I’m glad you're okay, Detka,” she said as she kissed your cheek. “‘m sorry” you mumbled, making them frown. “For what?” Nat asked, a bit confused. “For being reckless” they shook their heads. “No, detka don’t apologize, this wasn’t your fault. You guys were ambushed, there was nothing you could have done” Nat comforted as your eyes got droopy because of the medicine.
“Go to sleep, I’ll have your favorite food waiting for you when you wake up” Wanda gently coaxed, making you smile tiredly. “Cuddle?” you asked them, giving the puppy eyes they couldn’t resist. “The bed is too small,” Nat said as she rubbed her thumb over your hand. “Then take turns” you mumbled, making them laugh. “I’ll start making the food Nat, you could have the first turn” Nat smiled and nodded as she got into the bed. You practically launched yourself on top of her and cuddled into her chest. Wanda was quick to rearrange the iv and rub your back until you fell asleep, she smiled as she saw both you and Nat had fallen asleep. She quietly left the room leaving you two to sleep and knowing they weren’t letting you out of their sight anytime soon.

Working with Rhea had been a dream. She was so sweet and genuinely cared about you. You had been her assistant for a about a year now and the friendship was really tight. She wanted someone she could talk about anything with, especially something other than wrestling.
You two usually stayed in adjoining rooms when you would travel for the shows, sometimes in the same room, with different beds of course. She had joked many times that one day they would mess up and give the two of you one bed but it hasn’t happened yet, luckily.
Your job as her assistant was to make sure she stayed on schedule, booked her hotel rooms and was the liaison for people who wanted to do interviews with her. Safe to say, you spent a lot of time with her, but you didn’t mind. To say that though, was an understatement. You loved spending time with her because these past few weeks, you’ve been wanting something more than just a friendship.
You and her would always flirt playfully as girl friends would do, but you never thought she was serious. “You look so scrumptious today,” she would say, or would joke around sometimes when you would accidentally brush against her hand with the “if you wanna hold my hand just ask,” and you wanted to so badly but you knew it would be too much.
The weekend came and you booked for the two of you to stay in a room with two beds at the hotel WWE chose.
“For Bennett please,” you said to the lady at the front desk. You use her real last name in case any crazed fans try to find her.
“Okay, one second,” as she typed away at the computer.
Rhea made eye contact with you and gave you a wink. Butterflies hit your stomach and you could feel your face getting red so you turned away after you winked back. You tapped your fingers on the counter hoping the lady would hurry up.
“Unfortunately, it looks like all our double beds have been booked for this weekend,” she said hoping you wouldn’t be mad.
“Are there any adjoining rooms?” you were scared to ask the question.
“We don’t have those here, sadly, I apologize,” she frowned.
“Looks like we’re cuddling, babygirl,” Rhea interjected.
Shit. “Do you have a pullout-”
“We’ll take a single bed then,” the wrestler interrupted you.
The lady flicked her eyes between the two of you and smiled. She began clicking away at her computer again, “here’s one with a king bed and a small kitchenette, that okay?”
“Perfect,” Rhea smiled devilishly.
She handed you the keycards and you headed to the room. You were so nervous about this whole thing, you couldn’t contain your wringing hands.
Rhea opened the door and there it was, the king bed. Your heart skipped a beat but you tried your best to stay calm.
She placed her luggage on the floor, throwing her duffle on the chair. You did the same but placed yours neatly on the desk near the window.
“Finally,” she said dropping her body on to the bed face down.
You giggle, “I’ve needed to go to the bathroom since we landed,” and you head in.
It wasn’t a lie but you did need to splash some water on your face to calm down. So you used the bathroom and washed your hands but kept the water running to cool you off as you washed your face.
“It’s fine, you’re fine, nothings even gonna happen,” you whisper to your reflection. “And if it does…no, no, it’s not going to so there’s nothing to worry about so…” you shrug to yourself. You finally turn off the water and walk back out to find the muscular woman changing into her pajamas. You cowered away at first when you realized but she was turned away from you just right. Her back muscles were, oh, so perfect and her arms are just so big and-
“Should we do each other’s makeup and watch scary movies?” she turned around finicking with her shirt.
“What… oh!” you laugh, “that’s sounds like fun, but I’m so tired and it’s already midnight and we have to get up.”
She sighed dramatically, “if you say so boss,” as she slipped under the covers, “oh this is sooo comfy, you should try it.”
“Lemme change first,” you said nervously, “and no peeking.”
“Aawww,” she joked as she covered her eyes. She peeked through her fingers at you as she giggled then covered them completely.
You quickly changed into your pajamas which was just a big tshirt and biker shorts. “Done,” you said as you turned around to her already looking at you. Your face immediately got hot.
“(y/n),” she said quietly, “you’re so beautiful,” her face staring in awe.
You crossed your arms to cover as much as you could, “I told you no peeking and thank you but you should look in a mirror sometime.”
She immediately got out of the bed, “no, I’m serious,” she pulled your arms apart, “like so incredibly.”
“Stop,” you chuckle, “you’re gonna make me fall in love with you,” you said in a joking tone but it was completely serious as you walked to your side of the bed.
“You’d love to have me as a girlfriend,” she started with a teasing tone, “I’d take you out, show you off, buy you flowers… I’m a great girlfriend actually.”
“Ha ha, very funny, but seriously we have to go to sleep,” you get into your side of the bed.
She sighed once more, “I guess so,” she followed you into the bed. “So cuddling’s off the table?” she turned to her side with her head resting on her hand.
“Unless you subconsciously do it in your sleep,” but you wanted to so badly.
“Suit yourself, I’m a great big spoon,” she turned over and turned off her light.
“I bet you are,” you turned off your light too, “goodnight Rhea.”
“Sleep well,” she huffed.
You couldn’t sleep. Your mind was running, thinking about all the things she could do as a girlfriend and how easy it would be, how fun it would be. The places you could go eat in the new cities, holding hands walking down sidewalks, coming over whenever, not having to book double beds anymore, the possibilities were endless, you thought. And the sex… you shook the thought away, she’s your friend, best friend even. You couldn’t get her off your mind for at least fifteen minutes.
You turned over on your back, “Rhea?” you whispered so quietly, but there was no response. So you tried again, “Rhea,” a little louder this time.
She turned her head towards you, “you okay?” she whispered back.
“Yeah I’m fine, just had a question,” your heart was beating out of your chest it felt like.
She turned completely over facing you, “what’s up?”
“Were you serious?”
You could feel her staring at you in the darkness, “I’m gonna need more context, love.”
“When you said I was beautiful,” you couldn’t stop now even if you tried.
“Of course. I’ve always thought you were.”
“Yeah?”
You could tell she was smiling at you, “yeah.”
“Okay,” a few long seconds passed, “and about the girlfriend thing?”
“So you are in love with me! I knew it!” she said a little too excitedly.
“Woah woah, I never said that,” you face her.
She turned over and turned her light back on. The both of you winced at the sudden brightness. She turned back towards you seeing now that your face was red with embarrassment, “but I know you’ve thought it! Like I haven’t noticed the glances, the extra giggles at my jokes, the nervousness of the one bed. Oh no, what if she cuddles me?” she mocked.
You huffed as you tried to turn away from her.
“Uh uh,” she grabbed your chin and pulled you back, “you can’t even deny it!”
That movement sent chills down your body. Unfortunately, you didn’t have an answer.
“Well,” she let go of your face and pushed a loose strand behind your ear, “if it makes you feel better, I feel the same way,” she said softly.
Your eyes widened, “you can’t be serious.”
“Have I ever lied to you?”
“Yes, actually multiple times about stupid stuff,” you sat up and situated yourself to face her.
“Okay, yeah maybe, but this is serious,” she sat up and mirrored your position.
“I don’t believe you,” you crossed you arms once more.
“Will you stop doing that,” she pulled your arms apart again, “and I am. I have been since I hired you. I couldn’t find the right time to tell you and I was worried that you wouldn’t feel the same and then it would be awkward.”
“I still feel like you’re kidding,” you said sadly.
She rolled her eyes as she huffed then suddenly cupped your face with both hands and pulled you in for kiss, “does that seem like joking to you?”
You were so shocked you couldn’t speak. Your mouth was open and you sat frozen trying to think of anything to say.
Now she was becoming embarrassed, “please say something because now I look crazy.”
But you still couldn’t, so you decided on something else. You grabbed her face and pulled her back in for another kiss. Her hands were on your thighs bracing herself. She quietly moaned into the kiss sending shivers down to your core. You didn’t know you needed to hear her do that, but you were grateful she did.
Your lips danced against hers like they were meant to be, you knew exactly what to do and exactly when to do it. Her breath was hot against your face, but you didn’t care. Her hand tangled itself in your hair and before you knew it, she was guiding your body to lay down beneath her. She easily straddled you, never breaking contact with your lips, until, “This okay?”
“Perfect,” you smile as she goes back to kissing you.
Small moans came from the both of you. Your hands felt your way down her back not wanting to go too far, but found themselves under her shirt feeling the muscles contract as her body moved against yours. And moving it was, she was slightly grinding against you which was driving you crazy. Your nails slightly dug into her back before grazing down to her thighs.
One of her hands caressed its way down your torso and under your waist band, teasing at going farther.
“Can I-” she breathed.
“Yes,” you whined a little too desperately.
She grinned as she slipped her hand under. Gently rubbing your center up and down, you moaned into her kiss.
You suddenly gained consciousness, and pushed her away, “wait wait…”
She immediately took her hand out and sat up with a look of concern, “did I do something wrong?”
“No, I just…” you couldn’t understand what you were feeling. You rubbed your eyes, “are you sure? or are you just doing this to…I don’t know,” you displayed your hands out shaking them to signify that you didn’t know what you were trying to say.
“Yes, I’m a thousand percent sure,” she sighed with relief, “when I first met you, I thought you were so pretty. As time went on though, we clicked so well that I couldn’t help falling in love with you. I just needed that push to tell you and weirdly, it was the ‘only one bed’ that helped me out,” her hands were placed on her thighs, trying to not shake with nervousness.
“And there was no other time?” you joked.
“Babes, if I coulda I woulda,” she joked back, “but yes, I’m sure.”
You lay in thought for a second scanning her face for any sign of uncertainty, luckily you couldn’t find any.
“Can we go back to what we were doing or are you going to ponder some more?” she mocked.
You giggled, “yes, sorry. Please continue.”
“Thank you,” with a huge smile, she bends over you again and kisses your neck. Her hands finds its way back to your waistband, sneaking its way in, “Still okay?”
“A thousand percent.”
Her hand caressed your center just right, drawing small circles making moans and whines fall out of you with ease.
“What do you like?” she whispered in your ear before going back to kissing your neck.
Your face immediately got hotter than it already was, so you didn’t answer in fear of embarrassment.
“I won’t continue unless you tell me,” she stopped her motions with her hand.
You huff, “Uhm…” you racked your brain to remember. It had been so long since someone even thought about kissing you, “I’m not sure.”
“Oh, c’mon,” she started moving her fingers again but ever so gently, “maybe some praise?”
“You can try that,” you were too embarrassed to say that it was what you wanted now that she said it.
“Yeah?” her hand felt down your wet folds before she continued on your clit, “I can do that.”
She kissed her way back up to your lips as her hand worked its magic. Your hands were tangled in her dark hair before one slid down her arm and told her hand to go inside. It followed orders and gently pushed inside of you.
You moaned loudly into her mouth when she began to slowly pump in and out of you.
“You feel so good, baby,” she smiled against your kiss.
That could’ve sent you over then edge right then but you didn’t want to seem too desperate, so you opted for a whine instead.
“Oh, you really liked that, should I say more?” she cooed.
You nodded your head biting your lip, “yess, fuck,” you forced out.
Her pace quickened so the moans became more frequent. Your eyes were already rolling to the back of your head, you couldn’t believe it.
“You’re doing so well, taking my fingers,” she growled this one out. You could tell Mami was coming out and you couldn’t wait much longer.
“God,” you breathed. Her fingers still plunging into you, you rode her hand and the pressure was quickly rising.
She smiled into the kiss once more when she quickened her pace so fast that you were rocking the bed.
“I can tell you’re close,” she huffed. Her head was slightly sweaty but it made her look even hotter. “So be a good girl, princess and cum for me.”
Your back arched, your toes curled, your eyes rolled, and the pressure finally released, “fffffuuuuck,” you whined.
She let you ride it out as long as it took, which was a few long seconds of you writhing underneath her. Her hand slowed as your breathing became more regular.
“That’s it,” she kissed your neck once more, “good girl.”
“Holy fuck,” you gasped as she pulled her hand out of your pants. She continued to kiss up your neck until meeting your lips for the last time.
“Was that okay?” she slipped off of you.
“That was…” you couldn’t really think, “crazy.”
“Yeah? Well we really have to go to bed now,” she sighed.
You looked at the clock and sighed with her, but then you immediately shot her a look, “we can nap instead of lunch tomorrow,” and you sprung up and straddled her.
“Oh shit,” she caught your thighs, then smiled at you devilishly, “deal.”

The Wildling and the Lady
Based on this request:  Hey! Hope i’m not too late. How about one where the reader is a Tully and she escapes the Red Wedding. She ends up travelling for a bit, she ends up at the Wall looking for Jon as they were friendly and she meets Tormund who is taken by her (maybe he likes her Tully red hair or her survival or something) and he’s surprised she’s a Lady
Here you are, lovelies! *Familiar characters are NOT mine!*
Warnings: Fluff, brief mentions of the Red Wedding (no details)
Pairings/Characters: Tormund Giantsbane x fem!Tully reader, Jon Snow, Samwell Tarly
Tumblr media
A sigh escaped your lips as the cold began seeping into your bones once more. You'd lost track of how long you'd been traveling and you were certain you looked a fright. When you'd first fled from The Twins after what had happened with your aunt and cousin, you had no idea where to go. You'd simply wanted to get away. You'd used the only bit of gold you'd had to buy a bow. After that, you kept moving. As you traveled further and further North, the air grew colder and game grew sparser. You were near freezing and starving, but you weren't going to stop.
Even through it all though, you couldn't fight the relief that coursed through you when you saw the Wall. Yes, you were a woman, but you had family there and maybe he could help you. You didn't despise Jon the way your aunt had. In fact, you were on pretty friendly terms with him. You only hoped he could help you now. If only for a little while.
The gated opened and Jon ran to you with a soft smile. As soon as you slid off your horse, you wrapped your arms around him. "I thought you'd died with Robb." You shook your head. "No. I was able to escape. No one paid much attention to me. I tried to convince Robb to leave, but you knew your brother." Jon nodded sadly.
"I know I shouldn't be here, but I had nowhere else to go. Nowhere safe anyway." Jon gave you a soft smile before gesturing to someone behind him. Two men approached you and Jon. The first was dark-haired and was a bit bigger round the middle than his companions. He looked like he would give the best hugs, honestly. But it was the second that really caught your eye. Tall, red of hair, with blue eyes that told you he was capable of mischief you never dreamed of. He looked positively wild and it intrigued you.
You greeted them both with a smile. Then you turned back to Jon. "Where is your companion?" he asked you. You felt the tall one's eyes on you as you replied, "Since when have I ever needed a companion? Besides I have no one left. I made my way here by myself." Jon rolled his eyes, but smiled anyway. "Of course you did. You can stay in my chambers with Ghost until we can find somewhere suitable. I know you can take care of yourself, but I'd rather know you are safe." You nodded. You knew it was pointless to argue.
"Jon?" the dark-haired man asked. "Oh, right. Sam, Tormund, this is Lady Y/N of House Tully. Lady Catelyn's niece." You scoffed a little. "Y/N is fine. I don't care much for my title." You let your gaze fall on the red-haired man once more only to find him staring at you so intensely, it made you shiver.
You could feel his eyes on you as Jon led you inside. "Is that man a Wildling?" you asked Jon once you were inside. Jon smirked a bit and nodded. "Yes. Tormund Giantsbane. As fierce and loyal as they come, and also as wild. He's one of the Free Folk and proud of it. Looks frightening but means well." You didn't bother telling him that "frightened" was not what you felt when Tormund looked at you. Not in the slightest.
Tormund's POV
The next morning, Tormund rose early and made his way out into the cold courtyard of Castle Black. The first thing he noticed was the sound of someone training. Confused as he was usually the only one awake this time of morning, the Wildling made his way over. The next thing he noticed was Ghost sitting just outside the sparring ring. He thought it must be Jon up then.
To his surprise, when Tormund's gaze finally landed on the other person up so early, it wasn't Jon. It was you. You were moving with such speed and grace, Tormund couldn't help but be impressed. You certainly didn't act like any lady he'd ever met before.
"Are you going to stand there staring? Or are you going to join me?" your voice asked, pulling Tormund from his thoughts. You had stopped moving and were watching him with a raised brow. "These practice dummies offer no challenge, but surely you could," you challenged as a smirk spread across your lips. Tormund chuckled. "Ya sure ya want to be doing that?" You shrugged a bit which only caused Tormund's own smile to grow. "Alright then. Have yer way." Without giving you a chance to retort, Tormund lunged.
The two of you became intertwined in a dance of clashing steel. Back and forth you went, moving so quickly you were almost a blur. Tormund had to admit he'd met his match in you and he was loving every moment of it. Still, you weren't nearly as experienced as Tormund was so you found yourself on your backside. You beamed up at him as you struggled to catch your breath.
"Thank you," you said simply once you could breathe again. Tormund offered a hand to help you up. You took it, but didn't expect him to use quite as much strength to pull up which was obvious at your gasp as your chest met his. To Tormund's delight, you didn't look uneasy or embarrassed. Instead you let out a little chuckle before saying, "I wouldn't mind if you joined me again tomorrow."
"As the lady wishes." His tone was teasing and you seemed to know it. You rolled your eyes before backing away. "I look forward to it." You walked away while Tormund's eyes followed your form. "I like," he muttered to himself. If anyone looked at him in that moment, they would have seen the Wildling practically staring at you with hearts in his eyes.
(a/n: I hope you like it!)

1945
Things were never easy for you, you've lived through a literal world war. You lost your boyfriend and then your brother. You had given up at this point. Without your family... what did you really have? Your parents? Dead. Brother? Dead. Your love? Also dead. The only person you had left was Peggy, and she was just as distraught by Steve's death as you were.
Despite this you kept going. You were determined to ensure your brother didn't sacrifice himself for nothing. You had made it your mission to destroy HYDRA. Every fibre of your body burned with pure rage as you saw what they were doing to your home.
You had mixed feelings about Steve's sacrifice. Because yes, he thwarted their plans, and saved millions of lives, but it cost him his life. And it cost you your brother. This was the guy who would light all the candles in your bedroom every time you had a nightmare. He'd tell you that as long as the candle burns, you were safe. He's the guy who nursed you when you were sick. He taught you never to back down from a fight; he is- was the only constant in your life and you miss him terribly.
You lifted your head as you heard the door to your apartment open. You smiled sadly at Peggy. Her eyes were reddened and puffy. It didn't take you long to deduce that she had been crying again.
"I wanted to stop by... to see how you were." She mumbled, her voice slightly hoarse. You sighed, looking at your feet..
"I'm okay." You say, still looking at your feet.
"I wish I could say the same... I really, really do. I miss him so, so much." She sniffles, her eyes becoming glassy. You took a sharp intake of breath, thinking of him always hurt now. You used to think of your brother and be nothing but happy, but now that he's gone, the happy memories hurt because you know you can never experience anymore.
Thinking for a moment, you glanced at the teary woman in front of you, sighing you turned and walked into your bedroom. Pulling a cardboard box out from underneath your bed, you smiled as you saw the black-and-white picture of you and your brother at the carnival. He had face paint on and you had drawn a silly moustache on yourself. Placing the picture in your pocket, you grabbed what you originally intended to and walked back over to Peggy.
"Here, it was his favourite... it... it still smells like him." You whisper, handing her his favourite jumper. You nodded as she held it to her chest, sniffing it slightly. This seemed to make her cry harder.
"Thank you." She whispered as she slipped the jumper on over her uniform. You smiled as she did so. You knew your brother would have married this woman. She was his future, and you understood why. She was a beautiful human inside and out and you felt extreme pride when you refer to her as your friend.
You two sat and talked for hours until there was a noise that had Peggy reaching for her gun. Your anxiety bubbled as you watched her go check it out. You grabbed a knife from the kitchen and gripped it tightly. There was a loud commotion and shots were being fired, the loud bangs echoing through the walls of the apartment. You could smell the burning of... something, as the air suddenly felt warmer. Something was burning. Your worry increased as you heard Peggy groan in pain. The sudden puff of smoke confirmed your suspicions. Your apartment was now burning. "Y/N! RUN!" Peggy yelled as she came rushing into the front room, only to be tackled by a large burley looking man. He pinned her to the ground, and you glared at him.
"Let her go!" You yelled as you rushed over. Before you could get to him, you screamed as the front door was smashed in wood flew everywhere as it splintered off the door. The door crashed to the floor and your eyes widened as more people filed into the room, they were dressed in a uniform, they were soldiers and you then noticed the marks on their uniforms. Your rage soared as the HYDRA men burst into your home. You gripped the knife tightly before going after them. Even though you had no idea how you were going to win against a small army of HYDRA agents, you were determined to win. You punched, kicked, stabbed your way through the agents, but it was no use. One guy punched you so hard in the face, stars clouded your vision and you felt your eyelids become heavy.
The last thing you heard before you faded into the darkness was Peggy's final scream for you. "Y/N!" she yelled as you hit the floor.
HYDRA had got you now. You were theirs. And nothing could be done about it.
Today
The ringing in your ears intensified as you began running through the halls. There was only one thought in mind. "I have to get out." Your feet moved quickly as you rushed down the hall. You were being chased, but you had one advantage your advisories didn’t. During your time in HYDRA, you had been turned into a super solider just like your big brother was before he died.
You saw the wall and something inside you knew that you were only on the second floor. So you braced yourself and launched yourself out of the window. Glass shattered all around you, slicing your skin. Even more so when you landed. You slid across the ground. A cry leaving your lips as you did. You rolled over before you pulled your body up and broke out into a sprint. All you could think about was not getting caught. It didn’t matter about the fact nothing looked familiar, or that your body was begging you to lie on the floor and give up. You didn’t care about the blood that was seeping into your clothes all you cared about was getting away.
You were so caught up in getting away you didn’t pay attention to your surroundings. You slammed straight into a couple. The man’s hands shot out to steady the girl as they looked angrily at you. Until they saw your condition. The noise of the world hit you at once and you kept turning around, your eyes squinted as you looked all around the place. Tall buildings, loud noises. And they’re way too many people. The man came into focus as he gave you a concerned look.
“Can you tell me your name, doll?” He asked, and you squinted at him. Your heart was pounding in your chest so loud you could barely hear anything else. You swallowed.
“Where am I?”
“New York.” He replied softly.
You shook your head defiantly. “No, no, this isn’t New York. I- no!” You grabbed him by the collar. “Where am I!” you demanded as you shoved him backwards before stepping back from him a few steps. His eyes widened as he looked to your left.
“Watch out!” You heard someone new yell. Suddenly, you were encased in a red glow. It’s spirals moving you. Your body instantly warmed, and you strangely felt comfort from this red embrace. But your comfort didn’t last long as a body knocked into you. You both went tumbling to the floor, causing you to groan as you scraped your already bleeding cuts. Despite the pain, you felt insanely warm. You opened your eyes to see a curious and worried green pair staring back. Your heart jumped into your throat as you gazed at her. She was truly beautiful.
You flushed as you realised that she was practically straddling you. Her cheeks turned red as she stared at you. “Wanda!”
That voice.
The girl you now know as Wanda got up and held her hand out for you. You took it. Her touch was warm, and it left soft tingles on your skin and for a second she didn’t let go of your hand. You blushed softly before your eyes widened. “S-Steve?” You whispered softly. His eyes teared up as he rushed over to you.
“Y/n! How? How is this-” you cut him off by throwing your arms around his shoulders hugging him.
“You died! I- I mourned you.” You cried. His tears wet your shirt as he hugged you tightly.
“Peggy… she said HYDRA attacked and took you and she hasn’t seen you since.” He mumbled. You nodded.
“I… I’m like you now.” You mumbled, and he pulled back, cupping your face with his hands as he surveyed you.
“You’re not my little sister anymore… you’ve grown up.” He smiled, kissing your forehead.
“I was so lost without you. When you didn’t come home… when you went into the ice. I thought you died, Stevie.” You mumble, your voice cracking as you started to cry again. He squeezed you and you gasped in pain, causing Wanda to step forward, worry present on her face.
“Steve, she’s bleeding.” Her voice was like silk, so smooth, and yet she sounded so panicked. You glanced up at your brother through heavy eyelids. The exhaustion was catching up quickly, and you struggled to keep your eyes open.
“I… I think I’m going to close my eyes now.” You muttered as the world started to darken. You remember Steve picking you up before your eyes closed fully.
Steve glanced at Wanda, his eyes widening. He scooped her up and held her to his chest. “Let’s get her back to the tower.” He rushed out as he began running.
~/~/~/~
Steve sighed as he watched Bruce work on his little sister, his worry increasing when Bruce pulled out surgical instruments. “Just need to throw a few sutures here, Cap. Nothing too serious. She's lost a lot of blood, so I'm going to have to replace it. I've already started a drip and she should be okay in a couple of hours.” He muttered, focusing on what he was doing. His focus was momentarily taken off you as he heard the door open. He smiled softly when he saw Wanda walk in. She had been feeling antsy ever since she left. She didn’t know what, but something was urging her to come seek you out. The way her heart fluttered when you and her locked eyes confused yet intrigued her. Her eyes widened when she saw Bruce stitching up her side.
Steve have her an exhausted smile as she took a swat next to him. Wanda frowned as she could feel how anxious he was. “You never mentioned you had a sister.” She commented with a snippy edge. He glanced at her, noticing her small smirk. He sighed, a small smile tugging at his lips.
“When I went into the ice, she was seventeen. She’s at least twenty-three now. She should be at least 80. Which means for 80 years she has been in HYDRA’s clutches for decades and I didn’t figure it out.” He whispered sadly. Wanda reached over to squeeze it.
“You couldn’t have known.” She whispered.
“But I should have. I should have known.” He repeated, seeming distraught. Wanda wanted to take his mind off it so she asked about her. It helped distract Steve enough, so he wasn’t constantly hovering over Bruce. It also helped to quench Wanda’s compulsion to ask about you more and more.
“When we were kids, our parents used to take us to this field and there was this tree that Y/n made it her mission to climb for weeks. She tried and then when she did. She fell off,” he chuckled. “She never wanted to get down. My father usually had to climb up and get her.” He smiled at the memory.
“And then our parents died, and we only had each other. And then Bucky. She lost him too. She lost everyone. I’m glad Peggy was there for her once I went under. I always wondered if Y/n had a crush on her.” He joked, causing Wanda to giggle.
Bruce had finished stitching you up. He pulled the gloves off his hands and stood up. “The sedation will wear off soon and I’ve given her some medication to help with the pain.” Bruce smiled.
Steve nodded, his eyes travelling to the door. Bucky walked in, his eyes widening. “Y/n?” He whispered, his voice strained. He looked at Steve and he nodded.
Bucky hugged Steve tightly, laughing in excitement. “I can’t believe it.” He whispered, pulling back.
“Me either.”
An hour later and you began to stir. The pain in your side was bearable, but you could tell it was numbed. “Steve…” you called out, reaching up to rub your eyes. You looked down and saw that the girl who saved you… Wanda was resting her hand on yours. You looked at your hands and then at her before your eyes shot up to see Steve.
“Y/n… how- how are you?”
You smiled. But then your smile dropped. “B-Bucky?” You gasped. He stood up and grinned, walking up to you.
“Hey doll, happy to see me?”
“Is everyone who is supposed to be dead not dead? Is Peggy?”
“No… no she, she died a few years ago.” Steve said sadly. You frowned.
“I’m sorry. Did you at least get some time with her?”
Steve smiled, nodding. “A little.”
That little piece of information made you smile. Peggy had always wished for more time, that was it, and you were glad that they had gotten time together, even if it was only a small amount. Bucky came around and held your free hand. He brought it up to his lips he kissed your hand, and then smiled brightly up at you. "Things haven't been the same without you. I've missed you every day." He sighs, and you cast your eyes over to Wanda. She seemed annoyed. There was a small crinkle in between her brows that gave away her annoyance. You wanted nothing more than to. Make it go away. You pulled your hand from Bucky's grip, a small smile on your face.
"I missed you too, Buck." He frowned.
"What happened to you?" Steve asked, and you sighed.
"Well... since you destroyed HYDRA's plan to blow up the world they were angry with you so they took their frustrations out on me, at first it was purely anger based torture, but then they decided they needed me, so they experimented on me and then once they successfully turned me into an enhanced super solider, they froze me I guess, I don 't really remember much, I woke up a few years ago. It was weird I was the same age, but it was like a million years had passed. The world looks so different now. I- I don't think I'll ever be able to catch up." You explained. They all listened to your story intently. Wanda squeezed your hand as if to remind you that she was still here, or to support you, you didn't know which.
"They tortured you?" Steve asked brokenly.
You looked up at him and shook your head. "I survived, I'm okay."
"You're strong." The girl spoke up. You looked at her and smiled softly. Her eyes captured you as she stared at you. You couldn't find the strength to look away. Her features were soft, her eyes assessing you. There was this connection like there was something about her that pulled you into her orbit. She was truly gorgeous, from her fair skin to her cute button nose. You swallowed. Clearing your throat, you smiled.
"You feeling okay?" She asked, her hand still on yours. Her warmth was comforting.
"I'm as okay as I can be." You say with a smile. She continued to stare until a noise blurted out, causing you to jump. Steve smiled apologetically at you. He then pulled out a small square thing and tapped it. You frowned.
"Yes, Tony. I know. She’s okay.” He said, talking into the tiny magic box.
“I’ll update you on this when she has rested.” He muttered. Shoving the square thing back into his pocket.
A sudden chill wracked through my body and in a second the room had warmed and the chill of the room replaced with a toasty feeling. You glanced at Wanda and saw the red tint in her eyes. You tilted your head slightly, looking at the glow in her irises.
“Your eyes change colour?” You asked.
"A side effect of my power." She said, her hands glowing as she showed me. The red glow is similar to the red shield that encased you earlier, only darker, more vibrant. You looked at her in pure fascination. Your hand came up to touch her glowing hand, but Bucky quickly intercepted grabbing your wrist softly.
"Careful, doll, that energy stings." He said, glancing at Wanda's frown.
"Only when I want them to." She said with a feline smirk. In the split second, she made a decision. A small ball of her power shot out from her finger and slammed into Bucky's hand that was still gripping my wrist. He hissed in pain, ripping his hand away. He started shaking his hand as if it would stop the pain. Wanda giggled as he swore at her.
You grinned at the interaction. Your mind was reeling from today. So much had happened, and there was still so much to learn. You were eager to learn all about this new era, but even more eager to learn about the powerful redhead at your bedside. As if she could read minds, she turned to you and smiled. You smiled back, loving the blissful look on her face. You didn't spare Bucky a second glance as Steve called him over.

Orin and Drow little something I am working on for @meanbossart
This is how i personally imagined their relationship, how i imagined she would be sometimes with him, this is just a twisted little fragment of my broken mind. I have personally have a Drow where i have been the Orin where the roles have been someone always holding me over my own head, sadly a sibling too so girl i get you lol. anyways Drow belongs to @meanbossart and i hope you like it. I am writing more to it, this is just a fragment of how i imagine their last days together being, before she did what she did.
 Orin
“Isilmë ilcalassë” The words cut through her, her face breaking for a split second, her eyes, white as the moon rolling back into her head as his voice rings through her ears; it doesn't take long for a fake smile to adorn her face, her body, soft and supple twirling around to meet him.
“Blood-kin…” Is all she graces him with; just a couple more days, just a couple more pleasantries.
His arms, big as her head, his skin dark as night, such a contrast to hers, finds its way around her shoulders, always touching her, always around her. Always, always always, never, never never away. He stinks, an intoxicating mix of blood and gore, danger and home. Because in the end, she knows, she knows he is home. Everything that keeps her safe, a sense she never had, always used, always expectant to a glory that would never arrive, to please false gods that would never respect her enough, no matter what she did, what she sacrificed it would never be enough. He was everything that kept her safe, everything that was on her way to glory, kept her away from the prying eyes and hands of Sarevok, his torment and torture, his constant expectation that she would bring forth the next line. That she, and her insufferable blood-kin would bring forth the next line of Bhaalspawns, and how wrong was he, how utterly and disgustingly wrong he was.
“I was thinking” Drow begins before her voice quickly interrupts him.
“Oh because it thinks? your big, empty head and destroyed unuseful mind is capable of thinking? “Her tone is cruel, giggles and highs escaping her as her head twitches to the side, her eyes wide open, her nails softly tracing the exposed skin of his ribcage as if it were a dagger.
She sways side to side, his arm sliding lower, softly, imperceptible down her back, his eyes drop for a split second. She knows she has him right where she wants him. “Dear sister…” He says and she already knows how this will end before it even begins.
*my gleaming moonlight in elvish which drows speak i believe.

Death is always around the corner
Tumblr media
Jamil + Death!Reader
Riddle, Leona, Azul, Jamil, Vil, Idia, Malleus
Masterlist
Tumblr media
This is currently a slippery one. Death sighed as they flipped through Jamil's book. A servant who wished to be more than he is, to be number one.
This was certainly a tricky situation.
Winter had finally come to NRC, and it was Y/n job to use their magic to cover the land in snow as they put the plants and earth to rest.
As they did, y/n watched as the students gather in the mirror chamber, ready to head home. All the while Y/n watched from a distance, though this didn't go unnoticed by some people.
"Getting cold feet?" Leona yawned.
"They don't say it, but I know they don't want me near," Y/n answered simply.
"So you not gonna see your friends off?" Leona asked as he leaned again a nearby pillar.
"Friends?" Y/n asked with a surprised and confused expression.
"Do you not consider those first years you hang out with as friends?" Leona asked.
"I let them decide what I am to them. And I've never heard them address me as such. They only come to me when they need something from me," Y/n said simply.
Leona didn't know how to react to this. A part of him was happy that they are unaffected by this fact, while another part of him was not. Surely Aduece had more respect than that.
"Than I shall have a talk with them when the break is over," said Riddle as he suddenly appeared.
"Ah, hello Riddle. Not too enthusiastic about returning home I assume," Y/n said as they turned to face Riddle.
"Yeah, I want to try talking a little with Mother, too… Though, I’m not sure if she’s going to listen," Riddle said nervesly.
"Good for you Riddle. Though some words for you, even if things don't turn out well. At the end of the day, it is your life to write not hers. And when you become an independent adult she has no control over you," Y/n said with a soft smile.
"Thanks," Riddle nodded as he turned to leave.
Only for him to quickly turn back and hug Y/n tightly. Death froze as they felt arms wrap around their torso. Never feeling mortals affectionate touch before, they froze. Only managing to pat the boy's head.
Riddle had to let go of Y/n, cause they felt as cold as ice. But Y/n did see off Leona and Riddle, while Azul and the twins' stayed for it was too cold at home.
While Grimm took care of the fireplace, Y/n tracked down the next target. which was not hard since Grim was already inside Jamil's trap.
Y/n simply watched from the shadow, as Grim indulged in the food, till Kalim showed up. And Y/n would have stayed hidden if Grim had kept his mouth shut.
"W-when did you get here?" Jamil asked as Y/n stepped into the light.
"I was wondering where Grim ran off to this time. Since it's his job to keep the fireplaces going, and low and behold he is not doing his work," Y/n said as they glared slightly at the cat.
"Wha- I was hungry. And I was invited unlike you," Grim glared. "And you just killed the party atmosphere."
The vibe was indeed soured, as the music stopped and everyone seemed nervous in their presence. Even if the students weren't sure why.
Even Jamil could sense something was off about this student. Every possible instinct in the student's body was telling them to run. All except Kalim, who was either too oblivious to the change in vibe, or simply his heart was too big. Invited Y/n to the party.
Y/n Was thankful that there are a few humans like Kalim, who could somehow get past their cures and smile at them. Yet They couldn't help but feel sorry for the ball of sunshine.
For he naively believed that is always safe from harm, cause his "loyal friend" Jamil was always by his side. Sadly Jamil did not share that sentiment.
So Y/n watched as Jamil used his powers on Kalim to ruin the boys standing with his dormmates. Forcing the boys to walk through the scorching desert, and train to point of breaking.
____________________________
One day on one of these desert walks, Jamil kept a tighter grip on Kalim with his magic. Making Kalim seem cruel by with holding water from them.
" It’s okay, I knew this would happen, so I packed some water. Go get them from the camels and share with everyone," Jamil said as started handing out water.
"Thank you very much. Ah… It would’ve been better if Jamil-senpai was our Prefect-" "Stop spouting such nonsense. What will you do if Kalim heard you?" Jamil cut the boy off.
Jamil filled one more bottle of water and slowly walked over to Y/n. Who was standing behind the crowd, and just looking around at the desert. Steeling his nerves he slowly approached Y/n in hopes of earning another ally to overthrow Kalim.
"Y/n, have some water you must be thirsty," Jamil offered, but Y/n didn't even turn to acknowledge him.
"I do not require water. Give it to grim, he could use some extra water," Y/n said simply as they stared blankly at the dried-up oasis.
"It's been two days and not once Have I seen you eat or drink anything. You can't keep abusing your body like this," Jamil pushed.
"Wow, You almost sound like you actually care for my well-being," Y/n said as they turned their head slightly. "But I know this is only an act."
Jamil's heart began to race as Y/n's red irises bore into his own, practically staring into his soul.
_____________________________________________________
Jamil had to rethink his approach to this strange student Y/n. Maybe he would have to convince them to why. Yet they saw right through his lies and refused to help.
Jamil panicked, for he feared Y/n will be his undoing. So he started spreading rumors that the ramshackle students were in cahoots with Kalim.
With the student's pent-up anger and frustration, they began to take it out on Grim and Y/n. But whenever the students try to gang up on grim, Y/n would always steps in before anything could be done.
Y/n knew things were getting out of hand, so Y/n implanted a thought into grim. Just dig your way out, and get to the treasury, there is something there to help.
"That's a great idea, me," Grim said to himself as he did just that and escaped Scarabia. Jamil having enough of this and decide to Magically "lock" Y/n in their room.
The enchantment made the room invisible to everyone but him, yet Y/n didn't really react. But simply smiled and laughed at Jamil's scrambling.
Even when Jamil thought he was still in control of the situation, his sleep has been horribly affected. Night terrors, and seeing Y/n in places they most certainly are not.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
As Jamil was cooking in the Kitchen, he heard something. he turned as he held the knife, only to see no one around. And It seemed that the spoon had simply. When he bent done to pick up the spoon, in the reflection was a pair of 2 red eyes glaring at him.
The boy gasped as he took a swing with his knife only to find he was still the only one in the kitchen. Jamil's heart was pounding as he heard an Eerie whistle fill his ear. He couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from.
The stove suddenly turned all the way and the fire quickly burned the food Jamil was cooking. The boy used water magic on the fire and once out, immediately left the kitchen.
As he navigated the dorm, with only the moonlight lighting his way. But the whistle still followed. Shadows that looked like a certain person stalked him throughout the halls. He could feel a hand grab at him, but nobody was there. He felt it around his neck as he felt a slowly tightening squeeze.
"Is it worth it? Snake?" Y/n's whispered in his ear. A cold breath blew against the shell of his ear.
Jamil was slowly finding it hard to breathe, as he put his hand over his neck. He started to grow weak as he was only getting enough breath to stay bearly conscious.
"Jamil?" A familiar called.
Jamil turned to see Kalim with a very worried expression on his face. Not even asking Kalim quickly helped Jamil, and escorted him back to his room.
But as they did, in the corner of his eye, he could have sworn. He saw Y/n staring at him, as a king cobra slithered out from their hood.
_____________________________________________________________
Things did not get easier when Octinvinalle began to interfere. And Eventually, he was exposed. He was finally pushed over. He came too far and his wish was just out of reach. so the ink took over.
So he sent Kalim, Azul, the Twins, and Grim flying over the horizon. In his crazed state, wished to rub his victory in Y/n's face. He went to the locked room, only to find it empty. The whistle began to haunt him again.
Jamil shouted and cursed Y/n, telling them that he has won. And that they were too late. But from a pillar high above him, Y/n watched with a downcast expression.
But after some time, Grim and the others took down the blot.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Jamil opened his eyes, and he found himself at a banquette mat. It was covered with a king-worthy feast. The boy had no idea how or why he was here in this strange and dark place.
"I called you here," Y/n said as they emerged from the dark and took a seat across from Jamil.
"What are you doing here Y/n? And where am I?" Jamil asked
"We are in the space between esse and quietus. A realm ruled by Life and myself," Y/n answered.
"S-so your... Death itself," Jamil said slowly as his eyes widened.
"Smart boy, you've always been very talented," Y/n smiled as they poured Jamil a drink.
"Are you trying to torture me?" Jamil asked as he eyed the food and drinks suspiciously.
"If I wanted to end your life, I would have just reaped it when you overbloted," Y/n said simply. " I Do not relish in Suffering. So no I am not torturing you."
"So then why are you holding me here?" Jamil asked.
"To give you some advice," Y/n said simply.
"Death giving life advice, that's rich," Jamil sighed.
"Says the guy who spent all this time an effort to be dorm leader. To prove that he is #1 and the best. When in the eyes of the world such a thing doesn't matter to them. And by the way, Kalim's never asked for Kalim to be dorm Leader," Y/n said.
"They simply wished that he be in the same dorm as his loyal servant. Crowley decided to put Kalim in that position as thanks for the donation," Y/n continued.
"Every one of them kept saying the same thing. “I’m sure you’ll understand,” they say. So… Who will be there to understand me?" Jamil asked with frustration.
"Your right, it is unfair. It's unfair that you have to hide your talents for fear of what the master may think," Y/n agreed, causing Jamil to look up in shock. "But you made a fatal mistake."
"And what would that be?" Jamil asked.
"You made enemies with the person who could have helped you. Kalim," Y/n said, causing Jamil to scoff and roll his eyes. "Alright, then explain to me this. Why do your parents fear their master so much?"
"It's because of Asim's pride. Kalim's father hates the thought of someone being brighter than him or his bloodline. Is this how would describe Kalim?" Y/n continue.
"No, of course not he'd... He would," Jamil said slowly, understanding what Y/n is trying to say. " Just talk to him about it. He would have understood."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/n explained that asking for help, or communicating an issue or problem does not make you any lesser than. But to make sure who you know your talking too
For not all humans are truest pure-hearted. So be carful of who you trust.
Y/n knew that Jamil has a long ways to go to not only achieve his dream. But to grow to be a better version of himself.

Bucky x Reader
Alpha/Omega au
Tumblr media
You were strapped to a table, a muzzle around your mouth as you whined and squirmed.
The overwhelming scent of the alpha's around you was driving you crazy.
A blonde man stood above you and studied you as tears streamed down your face.
"Quite beautiful, isn't she?" He said, reaching down and running his finger down the side of your face.
He could see your eyes practically glaze over at the small bit of affection.
"How much for her?" He asked, you weren't even listening anymore, your heat clouding your mind with thoughts of being owned.
"This one is a hundred grand, a bit more expensive than the others but that's because she's a special one. Never been claimed before, never even had sex before, she's the perfect little omega for breeding." The man said as you continued to stare at the blonde man above you.
" Excellent, how could I say no to that?"
--
After money was exchanged and you were officially bought the blonde man carried you out to his car and laid you down in the back.
He quickly got into the driver's seat and sped off.
He kept glancing back at you with worry before he made a phone call.
"Have you got her?" The voice asked.
"Yeah, she's in bad shape though." Steve muttered, glancing back at you.
"Alright, bring her home and we'll take care of her."
--
While Steve carried you into the tower you whined and clung onto him for dear life.
"I know, love. It's gonna be okay." He whispered as he walked into the elevator.
Steve took you straight to the infirmary where Tony and Bruce were waiting, he laid you down and looked at you sadly.
"She looks so different..." Tony whispered as you glanced at him and squirmed uncomfortably.
"I think they forced her into heat, we might need to sedate her." Steve said as Bruce nodded and injected a sedative.
Once you were out cold he removed the muzzle.
"It took us three months to find her... I have no idea what she's been through, or even more what Bucky is going to do when he finds out she's back and who took her." Tony muttered, all three of them feeling somewhat guilty.
--
Bucky had come back from a mission and ran straight to the infirmary when he had heard the news.
He practically burst through the doors and ran to your bed side.
You were so much skinnier and paler.
"Oh god, doll." He muttered as he sat beside your bed, he looked at your neck to see they had removed his mark.
"I'm so sorry." He whispered holding onto your hand and closing his eyes.
He heard you groan as you began to wake up, you squirmed and whined, catching scent of the alpha beside you.
You wouldn't say a word, after all you'd been beaten everytime you spoke.
"Y/N, it's okay. I'm right here." He whispered as you looked at him.
"Do you know who I am?" He asked, still holding onto your hand as you slowly shook your head.
"That's okay, all if this will make sense eventually." He said as you bit your lip and clenched your legs together.
"Touch me... Please." You whispered, Bucky looked at you sadly.
"I wish I could help, babydoll. But, I don't want to do any of that until you're not in heat and we've got you settled in." He replied as you whined again.
Steve entered the room and looked at you and Bucky sadly.
"We'll get her back to normal, Buck." Steve whispered as you cried out, having two strong alpha's was only making all of this worse.
"We'll have to keep her sedated until her heat is over." Steve said as Bucky nodded.
--
After keeping you unconscious for three days your heat was finally over.
Bruce was slowly waking you up, having Bucky right beside you.
Your eyes opened and you immediately looked at Bucky.
Your face plagued with confusion.
"It's okay, we're not going to hurt you." He reassured as you looked around the room.
"Where am I?" You whispered as Bucky slowly held onto your hand.
"You're home, Y/N. I know your memories are all mixed up but I promise you this is a safe place. You used to live here." Bruce said as you stared at the ceiling.
"Where's the man who bought me..." You muttered as Bucky looked at you sadly.
"He's here too, but he didn't buy you to be his omega. He bought you as a part of a rescue mission." Bucky explained as you looked at him in confusion.
"So, I don't have an alpha now?" You asked making Bucky sigh.
"Well... You did, but they removed your mark. I was your alpha." He replied as you continued to stare at him.
"Really? Why don't I remember?" You whispered as Bucky reached up and gently brushed some hair out of your face.
"Because they erased your memory, but we'll help get it all back, okay?" He said as you finally smiled a little.
"You're really nice." You whispered making him chuckle, he leant forward and kissed your forehead.
"Thank you, doll."

part three
part four
Six months in, you were beginning to consider Jackson your permanent home. The medical research group you were a part of was always on the move, never staying somewhere for more than a month or so. And now, sadly you were the only one of your squad still breathing. Because of your concerns for Joel and the immune girl, you weren't able to truly appreciate it. Tommy mentioned that they left a week before Christmas, and it was now approaching July. You were worried. What happened to them? Were they safe?
Was Joel?
You were devastated for twenty long years, convinced that your newfound family—Tommy, Joel, and Sarah—had lost their lives. It was only Sarah, as it turned out. You laid awake in bed at the new house Tommy and Maria had set up for you and silently sobbed. Instead of being bitten and turning into a monster, your baby girl was shot. According to Tommy, a no-backbone havin’ soldier opened fire and shot at Joel and Sarah.
You had barely slept now that you knew Joel was alive. You endured a recurring nightmare in which he was attacked by a swarm of infected and turned into one. You'd wake up a cranky, sweaty mess. You pleaded each and every night for six months straight in Jackson. Please, please please let Joel make it back safely.
Today was actually pretty good. You worked a shift with Tommy at the stables. Spending time with the animals usually made you feel better and kept your mind off the whereabouts of your missing love. One of the horses accidentally tripped you, and you fell flat on your ass. Tommy, of course, thought it was hilarious and laughed his ass off once he made sure you were alright, and so did you. You and Tommy's laughing fits reminded you of old times. Better times.
As usual, dinner was warm and delicious. You ate with Tommy and a few others you were warming up to. You chatted with them for a while before heading home to shower and get ready for bed. You arrived home, which was a few houses down from Tommy and Maria's, just as the sun started to set.
You stood under the warm spray, your thoughts racing about Joel and whether he was safe. Joel, Joel, Joel. He was all you were going to think about until he returned, maybe even then. You washed and rinsed a handful of times before standing underneath the trickles of water, contemplating. If Joel hadn't come back by the end of the week, you were going to go look for him and Ellie.
You told Tommy a month ago that you wanted to go out and look for Joel, and you asked him to go with you. He would have said yes if Maria hadn't been eavesdropping. She burst into the kitchen with a sleeping newborn in her arms and immediately put a stop to it.
You were furious at first, but you realized it was too risky for the father of their newborn child. Soon after, you decided to go at it alone. If just one person was prepared to risk their life for Joel, and that person was you, then so be it.
Right before you exited the shower, you turned the nozzle to the off position. Taking a towel from the nearby rack, you started to dry off. You sat on the edge of the tub with your leg propped up and lathered yourself in shea butter from the small container you'd gotten from Maria as a peace offering.
You were in the middle of lathering your arms when you heard the sound of heavy boots approaching your door. Moments later, someone rushed inside without knocking and slammed the door shut behind them.
What. The. Hell?!
It had to be Tommy, you thought as you moved to stand. Maybe he had news about Joel that couldn’t wait ‘til mornin’.
"What is it, Tommy?" You called worriedly from upstairs. You frantically reached for your linen bathrobe, slipped into it, and knotted it tightly around your waist before rushing down the stairs, stopping short at the sight before you. "Is Joel oka—"
Your heart skipped a beat.
The love of your life was standing there, his shiny chestnut-brown eyes peering at you in disbelief.
You smiled sheepishly at him and said, "Hi."
For a brief second, you were that timid young woman calling the hotline all those years ago. Oh, God , you thought. Still, with just a glance, he can make you feel nervous even after all these years.
With a watery smile, he cleared the lump in his throat and said "Hi."
What seemed like hours turned out to be only sixty seconds. Neither of you could remember how to put one leg in front of the other. You both stood there frozen, eyes roaming curiously over each other's figures.
Gobsmacked.
"I thought you were dead," you admitted brokenly, unable to keep the tears from spilling down your cheeks.
Joel exhaled sharply, fighting back his own hot tears, and uttered, "Darlin’.” That endearment was enough to make your heart sing and your tears flow quicker. He took a calming breath before continuing, "I thought you were dead."
Joel finally pushed his legs forward, and within three big strides, he was in front of you, sweeping you up into his big arms. You wrapped your legs around his waist and threw your arms around his neck, burying your face in the crook of his neck as you both let out soft cries.
With slow, deliberate steps and a vice-like grip against your back, he walked you over to the couch and sat down, maneuvering you onto the cushion beside him.
You two must have been talking for hours. The sunset had long gone. Joel was very reluctant at first, but with reassurance and admittance of your own past wrongdoings, he finally opened up. He told you everything, starting with the evening of his 36th birthday.
When he got to the part about Sarah's death, he choked up a bit, but he didn't weep. It seemed like he had healed from it. At least enough to be able to talk about it without breaking down. He was reticent to tell you, but he did say that not long after she died, he made an attempt on his own life. You told him you were glad that he flinched. He told you about Tess — who seemed to be a remarkable woman. You wished you could have met her. When he talked about Ellie, his eyes sparkled and the corners of his mouth turned up in a small smile. The same way it did when he used to tell you stories about Sarah.
"Why do you keep doin’ that?" Joel took a break from informing you about the last three months to ask you.
"Doin’ what?" you asked, raising your brows at him.
"You make a face like you're tastin’ lemon for the first time every time I mention the fireflies."
“Oh, that ,” you muttered, fighting back an eye roll at the mention of the terrorist group, “I had a few fist fights with their leader.” you revealed, wincing slightly at the surprised look he gave you. Before the apocalypse, you weren’t really one for confrontation, let alone violence.
“You fought Marlene?” Joel asked, stifling an incredulous chuckle.
“Yes,” you huffed. “That bitch killed a lot of my people. Blowin’ up unnecessary shit and whatever else she called herself doing. Almost blew me to smithereens a few times.”
“I take it you don’t like her all that much…”
“Hell no,” you answered, a little too loudly. “Next time I see her, imma kill her dead.”
Joel shook his head at you fondly and brought a hand over his mouth as he let out a hearty chuckle. He knew you were going to love the next part of the story.
He told you about Marlene's plans for Ellie, and you assured him that the cure would have failed and that everything would have been for nothing. When he shared with you that he shot and killed Marlene, you gasped so loudly that you choked on your own spit. He chuckled softly as he rubbed your back to help relieve your choking. You burst out giggling at the situation's irony. It made perfect sense that the love of your life would wind up killing your worst enemy.
"Joel Miller," you said in between wheezes, "Just when I thought I couldn't love you any more than I already do..."
He wiped the tears from his eyes and gazed at you as his laughter came to a stop, asking in a hushed tone, "You still love me?"
"Are you kiddin’ me?" you smiled softly at him as you intertwined your fingers with his. “There isn't a universe that exists where I don't love you."
Taken aback by your tender remarks, he couldn't find enough words for a response, so he just bent his head down and caught your lips in a gentle kiss.
The moment your lips touched Joel's, it felt like a match lighting a fire that was hidden deep in your belly. It was like both of your bodies remembered each other. You palmed the side of his head as you deepened the kiss so Joel pulled you in closer by your waist, and you moaned in his mouth as his tongue ran against yours. You climbed into his lap, eliciting a low groan from him as your heat brushed over his half-hard cock.
You broke the kiss, gently cupping Joel's face in your hands so you could see his beautiful chestnut-brown eyes. The eyes that gazed back at you looked nearly the same, just a tad bit sadder than you remembered. You were digging the gray hair he was sporting. He looked even better and more seasoned. You even had a few grays yourself.
"Fuck me," you whispered against his salt-n-pepper beard.
"You’re gonna suck my cock, then I’m gonna eat your pussy, and then I'm gonna fuck you nice and hard. Just like we used to, okay?"
Fuck, he still knew what to say to get you dripping for him. You swallowed thickly, repressing a whimper. “Yes.”
You unbuckled his belt as he slipped his shirt up and over his head. He flung his shirt to the other side of the couch before reaching for and untying the knot in your robe. He hummed with satisfaction as your breasts sprung free, bending forward to suck a nipple into his warm mouth as he pushed the fabric over your shoulders.
His skin was warm and smelled of fresh soap and whiskey. He must have shared a glass with Tommy before his little brother broke the news. You moaned his name softly as he cupped your other breast, tugging on your free nipple with the tips of his fingers. He let them go as you continued to move down his body, your hands going down his hairy chest and against his taut, pink nipples.
He was broader than you remembered, and where his abs used to be was a nice little pudge. He had the most irresistible dad bod you'd ever seen. Everything about Joel used to turn you on, so it only seemed typical that that side of you didn't change. You pressed a kiss into each of the scars that were visible on his chest. You had no doubt that Joel was a survivor, and this only served to confirm what you had always believed.
Joel raised his hips slightly, allowing you to tug off his boxers and jeans. His cock, still fat, was fully erect and oozing. Your mouth immediately began to water at the sight. You missed it. You missed having it in your mouth and inside your pussy, but most of all you missed cumming on it.
Seeing him there, all slack and attractive on your blue couch, sent an unexpected rush of warmth through your entire body. Joel smirked as he watched you eye his dick hungrily. “When’s the last time you sucked a cock?” He asked.
“The week before your 36th birthday,” you replied as you grasped it in your hand and stroked it slowly.
Joel's eyes flashed in surprise, and you interrupted him before he could ask you another question.
"You are the only one who gets to touch me," you vowed, gazing into his lust-filled pupils. You knelt between his spread legs as you brought the tip of his cock to your lips and gently kissed it, he grunted softly in anticipation. You tongued the slit, licking the precum that had gathered there, moaning in pleasure at the sweet-tang flavor. Your clit throbbed with desire.
You lifted your head and glanced up at Joel through your long lashes, where you caught a peek of his adorable dimples as he sank his teeth into his bottom lip. You licked long, wet stripes up the sides of his shaft before pulling the tip of his cock between your soft lips.
"Shit," he cursed, his moans growing louder as he felt the utterly delicious heat of your mouth. You flicked your tongue around the tip before taking him deeper into your mouth, meticulously bobbing your head up and down, relishing the low whines trickling past his lips. Joel was considerably more vocal than you remembered, but you weren't complaining. It only made your pussy drip more for him. Your cheeks contracted as you took him as far as you could, and you gagged as the crown of his cock slipped down your throat.
“Fuckin’ hell,” he said, groaning loudly.
You let his cock fall out of your mouth with a loud pop sound, stroking it fast with your left hand while the other fondled his balls as you shot him a devilish grin. You still had it .
Joel stared down into your hungry eyes and licked his lips. He commanded, "Rub that pussy for me," and then brushed his thumb across your wet lips. You happily obliged, sliding your free hand between your thick thighs and slowly rubbing your sensitive bud, surprised as to how soaked you already were.
Your eyes fluttered closed as he cupped the back of your head, bringing your mouth back to his hard cock. He groaned deeply as you took him back between your lips, sucking the tip with precision. You braced your free hand on his thigh and massaged your clit even faster as he fucked up into your mouth.
“Shit,” Joel grunted as you tightened your lips around him and took him deeper down your throat, breathing through your nose, “Just like that, baby.”
Joel's moans were driving you insane. You had forgotten how sensual and filthy they sounded. It was like music to your ears. You came unexpectedly, moaning loudly around Joel's cock, the vibrations damn near sending him over the edge. Your thighs shook violently, causing you to fall slightly forward, drawing him deeper into your mouth.
"Did you just cum?" he asked, pulling his spit-slickened cock out of your mouth in the same expression of surprise as you.
It had been 20 years since your last orgasm. You didn't let anyone touch you, even though many tried, and you didn't even touch yourself. Joel was the only person you wanted to touch you, and since you thought he was dead, you no longer had sexual urges.
“Yeah,” you replied hoarsely, nodding as you panted from your abrupt orgasm.
Joel moved lightning-fast, shifting your positions. You were now leaning back against the couch, and he was on his knees in between your legs.
Joel pushed your legs open wider and draped one over his left shoulder as he tenderly kissed up your supple legs; once he got to your thighs, he dug his teeth into the meat there, just enough to make you cry out in pleasure.
He licked his lips in hunger as he rolled your clit between his thumb and forefinger. The way your pussy glistened in the dimly lit living room made his cock twitch. "So wet for me,” he praised, stroking his cock with his free hand.
"Only for you, Joel," you giggled, softly gasping as he rubbed his lips against your dripping cunt.
His hot breath caressed your pussy just as his wide tongue teased your folds with soft licks. Your heart thudded against your rib cage, and you jerked slightly, anticipation getting the best of you.
Joel thrust his tongue up your wet slit, diligently licking his way up to your clit, flicking it a few times with the tip of his tongue before locking his lips around the bundle of nerves, driving you to let out a high whine.
Your head thrashed from side to side and your hands clawed at the arms of the couch as Joel dipped his middle finger inside your entrance, lips still tugging firmly at your clit.
"I love the way you sound for me," Joel growled as he added another finger, his words barely discernible as he refused to let go of your swollen clit.
“I’m about to cum,” you warned, squirming as the pleasure made you incapable of lying still. You tried to close your quivering legs as your second orgasm ripped through you, but Joel’s grip on your thigh tightened, pinning you to the couch as your climax had you thrashing about.
“Mmhmm,” he hummed as he drew his fingers out, his tongue lapping at the new rush of wetness, soothing you through your orgasm. “You taste even sweeter than I remember.”
"Joel," you begged weakly, unable to catch your breath. “Baby, please — just fuck me." You panted harshly, pushing his head away from your sensitive cunt as you struggled to recover from your climax.
“Okay,” he chuckled softly, moving back to give you enough room to turn around, “Come here, darlin’.” You rolled over so that your ass was facing him and bent over the couch cushions with your knees on the floor. Joel was on his knees behind you, aligning his fat cock with your dripping entrance.
He swirled the tip of his cock in your juices before pressing into your hole, oh so slowly. “Goddamn, you’re tight,” he grunted, breath hitching as he slid in all the way to the hilt. You wrapped around him like a vice. He needed a minute and to be honest, so did you. It’d been 20 years since you last had his cock and your body needed to adjust to his fullness again. He stretched you so good it hurt.
Joel rocked into you with deep, slow thrusts, driving you mad.
“Please fuck me harder,” you begged, wanting to feel more. You felt like he was holding back and you didn’t want that.
He pulled back, driving into you with one strong push. He smacked your asscheeks a few more times before setting a brutal pace that forced you deeper into the couch cushions.
"Yes, yes, yes," you moaned blissfully, rocking back to meet his forceful thrusts. The sound of his hips snapping against your ass filled the room instantly.
“You still take my cock so well, baby.” He moaned loudly, flattening his palm against the small of your back as he drilled into your tight pussy, stretching you even more. You screamed in pleasure, sinking your nails into the couch cushions.
Joel was pounding your walls tirelessly and your orgasm was making its way downtown, walking fast.
"I feel it," Joel hissed as he felt your walls tighten around him. "Be a good girl and cum for me." As if his permission was all you needed, you did just that, your body jolting as you creamed all over his cock. Joel fucked you through your orgasm, not letting up as he chased his own climax. You whimpered, eyes welling up with tears, toes curling and uncurling as he brushed against your g-spot.
“Fuuuuck!” Joel cursed as he jerked and spilled his seed inside of you, making you spasm as his warm cum filled you up.
You both panted wildly, staying connected as neither of you dared to move. After a few minutes, your breathing returned to normal and Joel pulled out with a low hiss, cleaning you up with his shirt before putting you on your back against the couch and laying partially on top of you.
You encircled him as his head rested on your chest, listening to your heartbeat. For quite a while, neither of you said anything. Simply enjoying each other's company in the comforting silence. You snuck a peek at him to check if he'd fallen asleep, but he was wide awake, thinking.
His left eyebrow still furrowed when he was in deep thought. You traced small circles into his arm as you asked, “What are you thinkin’ about?”
“Decompress until there’s a mess.” he mumbled, grinning like a mad man in amusement.
You both burst into an obnoxious fit of giggles. You were laughing so hard that a deep ache emerged in your stomach. You couldn't remember the last time you laughed this hard.
It's comforting to know that after 20 years and all the hardships you've been through, you still have the ability to make each other laugh like maniacs.
“Good one Jay,” you snorted and you both cracked up again, both cackling like the wicked witch of the west.

“If you stay still, it’ll hurt less.”
Those words had bounced around in Natasha’s head since they slipped from Grim’s mouth. The look on her face was one of utter fear and shock. Natasha felt sick to her stomach, as she watched the tears fall from Grim’s eyes and the sickening understanding that they had were victims in a sick situation.
Natasha’s brain was running a mile a minute as she sat in the victim advocate’s office. As soon as she had said something about Captain Underwood, Jake had marched her down to the VA’s office to file a report. She waited to tell him to take Grim instead, having a feeling that whatever was going on with Grim was worse than what she went through. But instead, Natasha sat in the uncomfortable chairs, waiting for the VA, Captain Sanders, to come in.
“Have you talked to Grim?” Natasha asked Jake quietly. Maverick had her placed on mental health leave, it was one of the only things he could do to keep her safe from Captain Underwood.
“No,” He shook his head and shifted in his seat.
Jake had been beating himself up ever since he blew up on her. He wanted to reach out and apologize but he didn’t know how. He was so angry that something like this was going on right under his nose. He prided himself on being able to take care of his team, taking care of his wingmen. He knew something was going on with Grim, but he never knew that it was something so vile and awful. Jake had little sisters and it made his blood boil thinking of someone hurting them.
“Do you think she’ll come back?”
Jake shrugged, “I don’t know. . . guess we’ll find out.” He sat up a bit straighter as the door opened and Captain Sanders walked in.
“Lieutenant Commanders,” She nodded towards them before sitting down in her chair, “The investigation into your report has been completed. . . . and the board has found Captain Underwood not guilty of the accusations against him.”
Natasha felt like her heart had stopped in her chest. The words the Captain Sanders continued to speak went in one ear and out the other. The only thing Natasha could hear was the disgusting voice of Captain Underwood and the feel of his lips on hers. A burning sensation crawled up her throat as tears prickled her eyes.
“So he just gets away with it,” Jake scoffs, “He gets away with abusing and assaulting-”
“We have no actual proof that he assaulted anyone,” Captain Sanders shrugged.
Jake clenched his jaw and looked away from the woman across from him. He had no words to say. He didn’t even know how to fight this. How could he? Natasha hadn’t said anything about Grim, deciding it wasn’t her story to tell, and Jake agreed. It was Grim’s story to tell, and she decided not to for a reason. Natasha was starting to think that maybe, just maybe, she should’ve kept quiet as well.
“So what do I do?” Natasha asks, “Go back to work and have to look at him every single day?”
Captain Sanders sighed sadly, “He’s been given strict instruction not to speak to you or be near you. That’s the best we could do.”
“The best you could do is get rid of an abuse-”
“Jake,” Natasha said, shaking her head. The fight was useless. There was nothing that neither one of them could do. Natasha swallowed and looked down at her hands, “So this is my punishment? This is what I get for wanting to protect not only myself but any other woman who walks through those doors. I get it, we are supposed to protect the country. . . but who protects us?”
Captain Sanders gave her a sad smile, “Sometimes. . . it’s better to just let these things go.”

Neteyam x reader
A/n: I really wasn’t sure about posting this because I don’t know how to feel about it. This is my first time writing for Neteyam, but definitely not my last.
summary: you seek help to save your people and make an unexpected connection.
Tumblr media
I sought refuge with the Omaticaya clan. I was honest and told Toruk Makto and Neytiri everything the moment I arrived on my Ikran, Malu. She was a sweet Ikran that could kill you in a mere second, she was purple with rosy hues. My mother was a beautiful na’vi, she loved our people, her name was Minotaur. My father, Skakoan, was brave and courageous, he always did what was best for the people. He kept us safe. They were both murdered protecting their people, us- my brother and I. Selkath, my brother, betrayed them… me. Our people. Eywa. He betrayed us all.
“Toruk Makto,” I greet standing in front of him and his wife, “I have come in search of sanctuary. Please.” I say the plea quietly. Luckily it was only, Jakesully, Neytiri, and I. My people, Kekunani, are warriors, who show little emotion. It is common for it to be said only for the weak to show emotion.
“Why do you seek shelter?” Neytiri interrogates.
“ I am Y/n of the Kekunan clan, daughter of the Skakoan Olo’eyktan and Minotaur Tsahik. I was next to be Tsahik. My brother Selkath tried to kill me simply for trying to save my people, our clan is small, but strong. I tried to save them. I cannot help them if I am dead.” I explain to them.
“How is your clan in danger?” Jake asks.
“My brother is blinded by rage, as if he’s been taken by a demon. He- he murdered my peoples Ikrans, he set fire to their homes because they disagreed with him. He is using fear to control them. He has betrayed our parents, me, my people, and Eywa. I am here to ask for safety, but I will not ask for you to help me in this war with my brother.”
“How old are you, Y/n?” Neytiri asks while observing me.
“I am 17,” I tell her. From the stories I've heard, she was only a year older than me when the Great War happened.
“You are so young and in a war with your own?”
I smile sadly, “I would love nothing more than to change it all, but my brother, Selkath, he is beyond salvation. I have asked our great mother to guide me, help me, help him and our people.”
“You can stay here, If you’d like we can help your people as well.” Jake says, looking towards Neytiri for approval.
“Thank you. This will be temporary, this is between my brother and I and I will stop at nothing to put a stop to him.” I tell them, It pained me to say. Maybe I won’t have to kill him, but I have to put a stop to my brother.
Jake and Neytiri introduced me to their kids the next day. Neteyam, who was a year older, Lo’ak, Kiri, and Tuk, the youngest of their daughters. I hung out with Kiri for a while and Tuk reminded me of a lot of the kids in my clan. Lo’ak was funny, he reminded me of Selkath when we were younger, when he hadn’t let the rage get to him so deeply. Lo’ak would never turn into Selkath. And Neteyam, Neteyam was a lot like me. He reminded me of myself, at least partly. He was kind.
I’d spent most of the morning along with them before I left to look for my Ikran. My clan wasn’t too far. I’d done this for my people’s sake and my own. I made sure to take in everything, every little detail what was different, if my people seemed more hurt. every little detail was marked in my head. When I returned I went to my tent. I was startled to find Neytiri there.
“Are your people okay?” she asks in a way of greeting.
“As okay as they can be.” I responded.
“When Selkath is dealt with, what will you do?” she asks.
“I am not fit to be Tsahik, I would not be good. Maybe I will give the role to someone Eywa leads me to.” I sit down across from her.
“You are young, you will learn.” she encouraged me. “You have my Jake and I to help you, if you’d like.” I smile and hold my hand out to her.
“Thank you, Neytiri.”
That night I went out with the Sully kids. They’d convinced me to go with them to see the forest at night. It was a beautiful sight. The animal and plants had a glow so beautiful that it felt as if it were all fake. near my clan the forest is not as bright, more dull. but it also had its beauties.
“Are you alright ?” Kiri asks from beside me.
“Of course,” I tell her, giving her a small smile.
“you seem to be stuck in your head.” Neteyam says from beside me as well.
“I am… just taking in the beauty.”
“my father told me a little of why you’ve come,” Neteyam exposes, Kiri was now with Tuk, Lo’ak and the human boy ahead of us.
I sigh, “it’s only a matter of time before he comes looking for me or I go to him for a duel.”
“duel?”
“If he lives he continues to lead my people down a path they will not survive, If I live I save my people,” I explained quietly.
“We can help you,” he says. We stopped walking, Kiri and Tuk being entertained by a bioluminescent creature.
“You already are, you’ve given me a place to stay.” I say sincerely to him, my hand on his arm, as I give him a small smile.
It was almost dawn, I’d been with the Omaticaya clan for nearly three weeks. I was sitting in front of the spirit tree sending up a prayer to protect my people, to protect me. Yesterday evening, just before eclipse, Selkath approached me on his vicious Ikran in the forest. I was alone, thankfully. I no longer could recognize my brother and it pained me more and more everyday. Our duel is set for tomorrow at eclipse on the Hallelujah mountain at the highest point. I had yet to inform the Sully’s. I don’t want to worry them, i’ve grown so close to them in such little time, I cannot imagine putting them in danger. As the sun rose I walked back to the clan i’d grown to care for. I met the Sullys in their tent as it had now become mandatory that I show up for at least one meal a day. Neytiri and Jake’s orders. I sat beside Neteyam who gave me a playful nudge and smile.
“How are you?” he asks.
“good,” I tell him. I felt light today. knowing no matter what my people would be safe after tomorrow.
“good.” he says with a smile. Over the little time i’ve been with this family I’ve grown close to Neteyam. unbelievably close.
“do you want to go fly together after breakfast?” he asks.
“i would love to,” I responded with a smile.
Neteyam and I left the rest of the Sully’s once we both finished. The excursion was… magical. we laughed and flew together and I was truly happy. I hadn’t felt like this in what felt like years. I allowed myself to let go of everything even if it was temporary. Neteyam landed down below near a river. We got off our Ikrans and sat with our feet inside the water.
“Thank you, Neteyam. For everything.” I tell him after a moment of silence.
“Always,” He says looking me in the eyes. “Y/n?” The way says my name makes me wish he was the only one allowed to say it.
“Neteyam.”
“go on a date with me.” he says, I was slightly taken aback. but happy nonetheless.
“Of course,” If I survive tomorrow, “I do have a pretty busy schedule…I’ll have to check when I am free.” i tell him half jokingly. He laughs and comes closer to me tickling my sides making me burst in a fit of laughter.
when he finally stops his attack on my body and allows me to catch my breath I look at him, actually look at him taking in every detail. My hand rest on his cheek as I lay on my side with him next to me.
“I see you, Neteyam.” I say gently.
“I see you, Y/n.” He says in the same gentle tone. I lean closer, but he’s the one to initiate the kiss, a kiss so gentle I felt as if I were floating.
I spent my time leading up to my duel with Selkath with the people I’d grown to love. I gave Tuk my necklace that my mother had gotten me for my 12th birthday. She’d give me many growing up. I gave Kiri my beaded bracelet. I left Lo’ak my small dagger. I left Neteyam, another of my daggers with a note. Neteyam and Lo’ak would find their gifts if neteyam were to look for me in my tent. If I made it back they wouldn’t know they existed.
I readied myself as eclipse settled closer and closer. I steadied my mind and heart, sending a prayer to Eywa. I grabbed my remaining daggers and my bow and arrows before calling Malu to take me up to the place I would meet Selkath.
He stood at the peak, his body rigid, and back towards me. I studied him before calling out to him. He turned to me and I no longer recognized him.
No words were shared before he charged at me. Knife in hand, he aimed directly to my heart. I moved under him, deflecting the hit. It was a dance, a beautifully tragic dance once. My daggers hit his body as his hit mine as well. Maybe it was from the blood loss or the overload of emotions I've been able to feel in the last few weeks, but I could not kill my brother and live. It would haunt me and possibly kill me as well. Tears and sweat mixed together each move brought us close to the edge of the mountain.
“I cannot kill you, I will not!” I shout over the wind.
“then you will die.” He responds in a cold tone.
“You hate me so much ?” He stayed quiet. I hit him hard enough so that he’d drop his knife. “Is this what you wanted?!” I ask, grabbing onto his shoulders, moving us closer and closer to the edge of the mountain.
“I will kill you!” he yells. I could feel him trying to push me but I held my grip on his arms.
“Let my people go!” I yell, both in prayer and to the man who caused this all to fall from the mountain, fear flashed in his eyes, I closed my eyes accepting my fate.
I thought it was the end, that I would see Eywa when I opened my eyes again. Instead I found Neteyam, Neytiri and Jake. I gasp and sit up remembering the events before I closed my eyes.
“you’re okay,” Neytiri says, laying a hand on my back. Neteyam was holding my hand. small sobs shaking my body.
“Selkath?” I ask.
“Eywa heard you Y/n.” Neytiri says.
“A swarm of Ikran saved you and my dad banned him from ever leading any people.” Neteyam says. I nod my head in understanding and send up a prayer to the Great Mother, thanking her for not making me do something I would not be able to live with.
“Thank you,” I muttered.
“Jake,” Neytiri says nodding her head towards the entrance of the tent signaling to give me and Neteyam so moment alone.
“What were you thinking? you should have told me, Y/n.”
“I was thinking about my people,”
“Well they are here now, they are our people,” He says, his eyes on mine. I smiled at him sweetly. And in this moment I knew Eywa has blessed me with the best things I would've never thought of.
