One Piece Men Take You on a Nice Vacation

A/N: Well I did a poll and y'all definitely wanted this! Let's be serious so did I. I so desperately wanna go on vacation and leave my cares behind for a week. Alas, my imagination is all I've got 😔

Characters: Monster trio, Law, Koby

ZORO

Vacation? Did you forget who your boyfriend is? Zoro is the epitome of "No days off 😤"

I think what's more likely is y'all ended up getting lost together and it turns into an impromptu vacation

But that doesn't mean it isn't nice to essentially go camping together

You're incredibly lucky, there's a nice waterfall and river, the weather stays beautiful and the nights are crisp and clear

Once you convince him it's better to stay put and wait for the others to finally find you, it becomes a really relax retreat

Zoro still insisting on training, but that's a given. You probably train with him sometimes since you're dating, but otherwise it's the longest uninterrupted peace you've had since joining the crew

Just imagine sitting together with your feet in the cool river water, fishing in comfortable silence. The two of you wade in the stream together and splash each other, cook what you caught, cuddle around the campfire, and look up at the stars at night just talking

The privacy is perfect because it allows you two connect without worrying about any of the your crew mates

Zoro's even admittedly a little surprised by how much he enjoys being alone with you (it definitely gives him thoughts about what your future together could look like)

It's something the two of you look back on incredibly fondly, and if you happen to get lost on an island again...maybe for once Zoro did it intentionally

SANJI

This man is so serious about taking you a vacation, it's the time of your life

He's such a mom though lol. He cooks a shit ton before he leaves with you so the crew can reheat it and still have nutritious meals while their cook is away

He owes Nami so much berri, but since it's for a romantic vacation with you, the interest isn't too bad 🤭

I'd imagine it's somewhere with lots to do and lots to see like Gran Tesoro or Sabaody (*ignoring how fucked they are in context of the story, I just mean a place like that)

Unlike something impromptu accidental like Zoro's, he's planned out everything. A spa day, mani/pedi, sightseeing, shopping, really nice dinners.

You dance around together in your hotel and watch the fireworks and the city lights at night. Not to mention Sanji looks extremely handsome in the glow of it.

He absolutely spoils you! All in the name of how much he appreciates and loves you

And for what it's worth you don't let him forget how much it means to you...whenever you're not utterly speechless. It's more like the two of you spoil each other lol

The two of you have a lot of fun together, living in your own rose-colored world

As much as this is about you, you Sanji sometimes wishes he lived in a fairy tale world and this is it. It's just the breather you both need.

LUFFY

You kind of have to explain to him what a vacation is at first because he thinks you're just asking about going on an adventure with him🤭

Once he does understand the concept, he's pretty gung ho about it! Well, the "relaxing" part of a vacation sounds kind of dull to him but going somewhere just the two of you sounds awesome!

He kind of just springs it on you. You mentioned it once in passing and then a week later you're on a random island together and the Sunny is sailing off to pick you guys up in a week

It's not really a vacation spot, it's just a normal island he's never been to before (because he still doesn't quite understand the difference between a vacation and an adventure) but it's nice. It's somewhat reminiscent of Loguetown or Mock Town

You still have a great time with it's charm and the fact that there's little to no Marines around means you get peace in that aspect

That's the only kind of peace you get though lol

The two of you go all over the place, trying different food, poking around the jungle and in shops, and possibly getting into a little bit of trouble

Every night the two of you crash and sleep in as much as you want, wake up whenever you want and eat as much and whenever you want

It's kind of like a long sleepover with no parents around to keep you in line

As fun as it is you'll probably start to miss the routine of living as a Straw Hat and Luffy's itching to get back to the open seas!

LAW

Law pales at the thought of a vacation, but he's not above it for the people he loves

It's absolutely not his idea though...He was trying to think of something nice for your birthday and the crew told him how stressed you've been lately (plus have seen him? He needs a damn break and they also want him to relax)

He has everything planned down to the minute. When you're going, where you're going, what you're doing, when you'll be back. This man has a whole goddamn itinerary prepared tailored to your wants.

I feel like you guys would go to a place reminiscent of Dressrosa or Water 7 (*again ignoring the in-story horrors lol), something with really beautiful architecture and lots of history.

That plan turns more into more like a rough guideline no he's not upset about it look away but it's okay because you both needed the rest and a little less rigidity does Law some good

It's okay to stumble into a bookstore and get lunch two hours later than you planned, you swear

You two mostly avoid the tourist traps, except the historical ones because they're pretty cool and you learn a lot. Walking down the streets, hand in hand (yes, you get Law to hold you hand in public, it's the small wins okay?)

He can't stop working entirely, but that gives you time to do a little exploring on your own...not to mention you're completely surprised by how he pulls you into his lap as soon as you return

Being alone together makes him realize how important you are to him. There's not nearly as much crowding his mind when he's on vacation and all that free space up there is filled with his love for you

He's also kind of surprised how much he likes you outside of the Heart Pirate's rigid routine. Seeing you dressed up and not prepared for the sea, but rather a nice dinner, is a shock to his system. The fact that you're pretty much two normal people and nothing is falling apart surprises him. Maybe, he thinks, the two of you should do this more often

KOBY

A/N: Koby is literally my baby boy, cuppy-cake, sugar plum, pumpkin. He's so precious. Just a perfect lil guy 🥹💞 if Law is my husband, then Koby is my son

Oh lord, he's sweating lol

You? Wanna go on vacation with him? Alone? He's so flustered! Such a big step!

But he's really happy and super excited!! He definitely has a little countdown going on on his calendar

I could definitely see you guys having a beach type vacation, somewhere with a pier/boardwalk with all kinds of games and maybe a few cheap rides too

He'd absolutely win you a prize, and even better if you beat him and win him a prize

The photo booth pictures you end up taking are so cute and he keeps them forever

You hang out on the beach and build a massive sand castle, y'all probably get a terrible sunburn or at least Koby does 🤭

And at night you take nice long walks, listening to waves and collecting shells that catch your attention

The vacation is good for you, but it's also good for him to be out of the Marine environment for a minute

He gets to enjoy the results of all of his hard work and it makes him incredibly grateful that you're by his side, and when he tells you as such it's a long stuttering speech but he makes it through

Don't be surprised that he's awake at least 2-3 hours before you but that just means he gets time to think about what you're gonna do and be completely captivated as you sleep beside him

Those photo booth pictures? He keeps them in his jacket now. Whenever he gets overwhelmed or feels homesick he'll either look at them or pat his pocket to remind himself of those moments with you

Valentine's Day- what he does for you

Headcanon

Characters: Monster Trio + Usopp and Law

Luffy

He assembled a gift basket. To someone else, it might have looked like he just grabbed a bunch of random items that he thinks you would like. But no. Each item he picked out held special significance, and he's picked up on things over your time together. See? He does listen.

His little basket predominately boasted an array of candy, but he did make a point to get those cookies you said you really like, along with some of your favorite fragrances and a plan to revisit Sabaody Park, a place you reminisced so fondly about. He vividly recalled your excitement as you spoke about the park. Bringing you back was a no-brainer for him; after all, he too wanted to relieve those moments.

Nami helped him make your gift look more presentable, but he'll never tell you that. Your face it up when he handed it to you, as did his. His smile was probably bigger than yours to be honest. He was so proud and he was happy that his efforts brought you joy. You weren't the type of person that needed anything extravagant. Your appreciation was geniune as you examined each item. You couldn't help notice the container of cookies. The sticker sealing it closed had been tampered with.

"Did you eat one?"

"What do you mean?"

"You know I get these all the time? I know how many are in here." You proceeded to count them. One, two, three...

"Luffy!"

"What?!"

"You ate three of them!"

Sanji

Valentine's Day has swiftly become his second favorite holiday next to your birthday. Yes, he considers your birthday a holiday. You should have known he would be over the top on the actual day because his enthusiasm for the occasion mirrored that of a marriage proposal when he asked you to be his valentine.

With cooking being his main love language, he got up extra early this morning to prepare three meals and a dessert for the day. The effort was more than a gesture. He did it so that he would spend less time cooking throughout the day and savor every moment with you.

Your presence occupies his mind incessantly, the anticipation of being together heightened his excitement. The mere thought of spending this day together induces a joy in him that sends him into a fit of giggles and has him kicking his feet with the same exuberance of a teenage girl who has her first crush.

The aroma wafted through the air, and you found yourself drawm to the kitchen where Sanji, with his classic cigarette, was putting this finishing touches on breakfast. The table was set with meticulous detail and a bouquet of flowers took center stage. Ever the gentleman, he pulled out a chair and gestured for you to sit. His eyes never left yours, his unwavering gaze conveying a depth of emotion that words could scarcely convey.

Zoro

When you told him you didn't want anything, he raised an eyebrow. Surely, this was a trap. It wasn't. You were being serious. You weren't big into Valentine's Day and you didn't want him to feel obligated to do or buy anything. He simply shrugged and said “okay”. When the day came around and you treated it like normal, he can admit he’s still puzzled by your lack of expectations. But decided to honor your wish nonetheless.

You two did a workout together on the deck of the Sunny like you normally did. The the crisp sea breeze provided a refreshing backdrop as you lifted heavy weights. Sweating side by side, the two of you engaged in a series of exercises. No words spoken as you simply basked in the comfort of each other's prescence.

Afterwards, Zoro suggested something out of the ordinary- a relaxing hot bath. The thought of indulging in a calming soak together appealed to him as a way to unwind after the physical exertion. You filled the tub as steam rose around. Zoro joined you, easing himself into the borderline hot water. With his arms wrapped around your waist and your back pressed to is chest, he stole glances at you, appreciating the way the water droplets clung to your bare skin. There was something a little more vulnerable about him this way. Despite telling him you didn’t want a gift, you could tell he was loving up on you a little more today. You'd be lying if you said you didn't love it.

Usopp

He talks a big game leading up to the 14th. He doesn't mention any plans in detail to keep it a "surprise". With each mention of "It's gonna be awesome" and "You're gonna love it", it stirred a sense of excitement in you. But to be honest, he wants it to be that way. However, deep down, he grappled with the challenge of living up the expectations that he himself had set. While he reveled in the thrill of anticipation, the truth was that his imagination seemed to hit a roadblock when it came to the actual gift. He didn't want to succumb to the cliche arrangement of flowers, candy, and a card.

As the pressure mounted, his creative spark finally mounted. He would devise a plan that blended the cliche gift with his storytelling and touch of uniqueness. The morning of, you received a map illustrated with details that only he could conjure up. Nami helped him draw it, lets give her credit. The map led you on a journey through various locations on the island, each marked with a clue or riddle. You followed the trail, anticipation in each step, with the promise of an extaordinary surprise at the end.

The first stop revealed a bouquet of flowers carefully hidden behind a statue accompanied with a note that read, "A bloom as resilient as our adventures". The second clue guided you to a candy shop where he had arranged for a selection of your favorite sweets, each with a personalized touch. The final destination unfolded at a scenic spot overlooking the ocean, where he awaited with a heartfelt card expressing his love.

Law

The metallic hum of machinery echoed through the corridors of the Polar Tang as Law moved about, seemingly engrossed in his daily tasks. As mid-morning approached, a subtle feeling of anxiety gnawed at you at his apparent oversight. Did he…forget? Was it wrong to assume that he’d do anything for today? You wanted to give him your gift by now, but it seems silly and kind of embarrassing given the fact that he hasn’t acknowledged anything yet.

Casually striking up a conversation, you probed him with careful questions, trying to discern any hints. His nonchalant demeanor remained. He responded with indifference, giving away nothing. Disappointed clouds your features as you observed his apparent obliviousness. Guilt tugged at him because not only did he feel terrible, but he was also wrestling with his own impatience. Behind closed doors, he was diligently crafting his gift. During the process of creating it, everything that seemed to go wrong, went wrong and it has taken him much longer to perfect it. The realization that he’s upset you weighed on him but he still wanted to keep it a surprise.

The hours ticked by and it was finally completed. Upon entering the bedroom later, your heart rate picks up at the sight of a small box on the comforter. You tentatively open it to reveal a handcrafted necklace that probably took him forever to make. In that same moment, Law silently appeared in the doorway before speaking. “I’ve been working on it for some time. I’m sorry I couldn’t get it to you earlier.” He says, confirming your thoughts. “It’s beautiful.” You breathe with tears forming in your eyes. You gave him and he steps closer, taking it gently from your hands, turning your back to him, and securing it around your neck.

Monster Trio Births part 1

Author's Note: Follow up to telling the Monster Trio You're Pregnant. Don't necessarily have to read that one to experience this but prequels are awesome. Lol. Enjoy! Luffy

The pair of you had finally reached the Sunny after running into some "turbulence" along the way. Once the crew was together they were surprised to see a bouncing baby girl of a little over a year old amongst their crew. You had given birth to Monkey D. Asa (pronounced Ace-Ah after her dear uncle who would never meet her) before you're rendezvous point was to be met at Sabaody. Rayleigh and Sharkky had offered to keep the infant safe in secret until they could dispatch her later but Luffy refused. If after all the training he had gone through couldn't keep you and you're baby girl safe... he deemed it pointless. He would have his daughter and lover with him. It was his resolve and no one could tell him better. Not even you...

********flashback*******

"Luffy... ", you whispered as he nuzzled into you after another day's hard work training on Rayleigh's regiment. Boa Hancock had allowed him to rest with you and the baby at night in your private quarters in the palace when he had wanted to end his day with you. She had taken a liking to you and considered you one of her sisters after helping save her family after having just given birth a few weeks before and still within your healing time, much to your lover and Rayleigh's protests.

"Y/n.... you and this baby you gave to me... you mean the world to me... I would rather you and her hate me then put you through the hardships that we will face... I'll keep you under Hancock's protection for eternity... " he began but you silenced him with your finger.

"You promised me Monkey D. Luffy that come hell or high water even the end of the world would not keep us from you... what changed?"

Your Captain actually lowered his head and began to get on his knees before you stopped him. "Will you always look to where we are? Concerned about our safety when you can ensure it?"

His eyes sparked red for a moment... the PTSD he endured at the Battle of the Best shining through...

"I'll fight to protect you and Asa... ", he gently whispered, "But I have more reason now than ever to be King of the Pirates..."

He smiled once more as he held your daughter close..."and Asa will be Princess..."

"Lou...", you gently stated, drawing his face to yours as he held your daughter to his chest and pulled you close as well, "We knew having a baby would put a kink in your plans....."

"You knew the day we left our island it wouldn't be easy.... and you reminded me more when we left that our relationship could result in a child.... but I SWORE to take care of you BOTH..." he interrupted your train of thought.

"I will NOT lose you or Asa...", he quietly swore as he kissed your forehead, "NEVER for a moment doubt that I want my girls with me... but if it gets too dangerous don't be upset if I send you back here..."

You smiled as you kissed his cheek. "I'll respect that... but if it ever does come to that... don't abandon us..."

"Never", he growled as he cuddled you and your infant daughter closer to him "I'll never give my girls up..."

****end of flasback***

"Captain... I can understand you bringing y/n along but what's with the kid?" Zoro ungracefully pointed out.

"IDIOT!" Nami shouted as she punched the back of his head with enough force to knock him down, "OBVIOUSLY they had a KID in the last two years!"

"Wait.... are you telling me I never had a chance with y/n?!" Sanji lamented before he joined the swordsman on the ground from Nami's hands as well.

"Congrats to you both... I mean it's SUUUPER that you guys had a kid but... are you sure it's a good idea for y/n and the baby to tag along? I mean we're going DEEP SEA..." Franky pointed out followed up by Chopper's medical advice saying it wasn't safe as well.

Robin and Brook were too enamored with the baby to care of anyone else's opinion and acted happy to meet the gurgling mess known as Asa.

"I've thought long and hard over the past two years... y/n is part of our Nakama... and my future Queen... Asa is my heir and princess... I'm NOT leaving them behind..." Luffy seriously stated, "I already lost a part of my family...again... I'm not giving them up... their my girls... my family.... as are each of you... help me keep our family safe or step off... I won't hold a grudge against you if you do..."

He took Asa out of your hands and held her close as he took your hand in his, "My daughter doesn't keep me from being King of the Pirates... or y/n being my Queen... if anything it's more motivation... I want ALL of us to be free and have fun in our journey TOGETHER..."

"I'm not changing diapers but I'll train Asa", Zoro answered first.

"I'll teach the Princess how to cook and defend her and y/n with my life ", Sanji spoke up.

"I'll teach her how to navigate and make profits!" Nami shouted as she took the baby from her Captain's grasp, "Gotta make sure you inherit it ALL, huh?"

"She'll need to learn about all the cultures we meet and those before her time. I'll read her some historical facts along the way..." Robin smiled as she cooed at the baby in Nami's arms.

"Well if that's the case I'll teach her how to build some cool Super weapons and repair things! Uncle Franky gots you kiddo!" The cyborg smiled.

"I can teach her basic medical stuff! And herbiology!" Chopper smiled big as he crawled up Nami's back to gently caress the smiling babe.

"I can teach her how to play the violin! Sing her lullabies to get her asleep!" Brook jovially laughed.

You smiled as the crew began to accept their newest Strawhat crewmate. Your daughter cooing, babbling, and giggling as she began to acclimate herself to her family. You squeezed Luffy's hand reminding the Captain he never let go. In all his goofiness he smiled wide at you, "Told you they'd spoil her..." and began to laugh. It was a perfect moment with your family. You felt reassured in that moment... your lover had picked his perfect crew.

Saw some takes on One Piece x Pokemon so I thought I'd throw in my own two cents, seeing as giving characters Pokemon is my FAVORITE thing (just look at my fucking Submas fic, so many Pokeymans.... ehem).

First, to note that I'm working under the idea of 'One Piece where everything is exactly the same as Canon except Pokemon are also there'. How? Eh, its anime, baby, we don't need too much logic! They're just like a split off from regular animals - perhaps animals naturally enfused with Devil Fruit-like powers or something? IDK.

(That said, Pokemon cannot gain Devil Fruit powers like a regular animal can. There are many studies why but no 100% conclusive answer.)

Luffy:

1) Tangela ♀️ -> Tangrowth

Met on/at: Dawn Island

Background: Met when Luffy was young, in the mountain forest after befriending Ace and Sabo. They bonded over both having stretchy limbs. Constantly got tangled up in each other.

Evolved: During Marineford while trying to save Ace.

Reasoning: Stretchy limbs, a little goofy looking, but can become a strong fighter.

2) Mudkip ♂️ -> Marshtomp -> Swampert

Met on/at: Alabasta.

Background: Often hung out with the Kung-Fu Dugong for a fun brawl and was impressed by Luffy. Followed the Strawhats by sneaking into their luggage afterwards. Helped Luffy against Crocodile.

Evolved: First at Enies Lobby then finally over the timeskip while training with Luffy. Was supplied with a Megastone by Boa. First use was during Dressrosa.

Reasoning: Mega evolution similar to Luffy's Gear 3-4 appearances. Also completes the starter trio with Zoro and Sanji.

3) Aipom ♀️ -> Ambipom

Met on/at: Skypiea.

Background: Liked Luffy's singing, followed him around and snuck on board the Merry when it went to leave Skypiea.

Evolved: At Thriller Bark, trying to protect Luffy from Kuma.

Reasoning: Goofy monkey. “It uses its tails for everything. If it wraps both of its tails around you and gives you a squeeze, that's proof it really likes you.”

4) Drampa ♂️

Met on/at: Sabaody, pre-timeskip.

Background: Was entertaining kids at the theme-park when Luffy's group bumped into them. Became distraught that Camie was kidnapped and tried to help them find her. Was upset they couldn't protect Luffy or the Strawhats when the navy showed up, thus watching over Sunny during the two years to make up for it. Officially joined when they reunited.

Reasoning: Goofy. Fluffy white hair, similar to Gear 5. Kind to children, will become violent to protect or avenge them - think Momo, Tama, and Bonnie.

5) Lombre ♂️ -> Ludicolo

Met on/at: Dressrossa.

Background: Often snuck in to watch Colosseum fights. Didn't really understand why everyone always got so mad (mostly at Rebecca) but thought the fights seemed fun. Was inspired by Luffy's battles and defeating Doflamingo and really liked the party thrown afterwards.

Evolved: Accidentally, on the way to WCI, after touching a waterstone while playing around in Nami's treasure (with Gholdengo).

Reasoning: “Upon hearing an upbeat and cheerful rhythm, the cells in Ludicolo's body become very energetic and active. Even in battle, this Pokémon will exhibit an amazing amount of power.” Festive music makes it stronger, comparable to Drums of Liberation. Also goofy, likes to party.

6) Egg -> Riolu ♂️ -> Lucario

Met on/at: Zou.

Background: Was accidentally grabbed when the egg got packed with their supplies during the rush to WCI. Was nearly eaten by Luffy but Chopper recognized it as a viable Pokemon egg. Hatched aboard the Sunny when Luffy cried out to Sanji, feeling his emotions despite the distance. Intensely attached to Luffy as a result.

Evolved: At Wano during the Onigashima battle.

Reasoning: Use of aura similar to Ryuo Haki.

And, lol whoops, since this is gunna be LONG the rest of the Strawhats are going under the cut!

Zoro:

1) Scyther ♂️ -> Kleavor

Met on/at: Shimotsuki Village.

Background: Often fought each other while Zoro trained to beat Kuina. Was thrown off when Zoro came after him viciously one day, until he broke down mid fight and told him about Kuina, her death, and their promise. Joined Zoro when he eventually left the village.

Evolved: Found Black Augurite way back at Little Garden but was not aware of its use nor cared to evolve until Wano, after seeing Tonoyasu's execution.

Reasoning: Knife arms. Kleavor chosen over Scizor because Scizor is more claw or clamp-like while Kleavor keeps the sharp weaponry arms (just axes instead of swords). Kleavor also more old-fashioned, less fancy than Scizor, mirroring Zoro's simple ideology. Big, scary looking.

2) Magikarp ♂️ -> Gyarados

Met on/at: East Blue sea.

Background: Came across Zoro while he was lost at Sea. Helped lead him to land but was stunned by how he kept getting immediately lost and stuck with him to keep him from dying at sea. Likes to meditate with him. Dreams of swimming up a giant water. Love at first sight with Sanji's Feebas. Get clumsy and shy under her attention. Nearly went belly up when she evolved. Becomes a mated pair after Little Garden. Neither Zoro or Sanji are aware.

Evolved: To help them escape Enies Lobby whirlpools. Was given a Mega-stone much later at Wano, by Hiyori.

Reasoning: Unexpected powerhouse. Connects to Wano via ‘koi that climbs a waterfall’ and becomes a dragon. Mirrors Sanji's Feebas/Milotic.

3) Zangoose ♀️

Met on/at: Random East Blue island.

Background: Caught while roaming as a bounty hunter. Was terrorizing a local town until Zoro beat them. Has an explosive temper and can be difficult to control at times. More controlled after the timeskip but can still be egged into fits.

Reasoning: Sharp, mean-looking face. Has a long-term rivalry with another Pokemon (Seviper). Mark over left eye.

4) Treecko ♂️ -> Grovyle -> Sceptile

Met on/at: Long Ring Long Land Island.

Background: Watched their Davy Back fight. Thought they were kinda stupid ultimately liked their vibes and forced their way onto Zoro's team afterwards. Chose Zoro on a whim but it worked as they often nap together. Very chill, go-with-the-flow type.

Evolved: First at Sabaody while protecting Zoro from Kuma then finally over the timeskip. Was sneakily given a Mega-stone by Mihawk when the two years were up.

Reasoning: Sword arms. Got stronger via cursed artifacts like Zoro's swords.

6) Applin ♀️ -> Dipplin -> Hydrapple

Met on/at: Wano.

Background: Saw Zoro as he pretended to be a traveling ronin in the capital. Became completely enamored by him. Kept following him and randomly popping out to give him food or lead him places. Young powerhouse. Really wants to protect and impress him.

Evolved: First when Toko gave Zoro a candied apple which Zoro then gave to them (since he doesn't like sweets). Had no idea it could evolve them. Then finally during the Onigashima battle.

Reasoning: Multi-headed dragon similar to three-sword style. Also funny for him to have a sweets-based Pokemon despite disliking sweets. Draws parallel to his friendship with Chopper.

Nami:

1) Meowth ♂️ -> Persian

Met on/at: Random East Blue Island.

Background: Caught in an attempt to abuse Pay Day. Wasn't efficient, only upsetting both of them, and gave them a rough start. Eventually grew to understand and trust each other. Becomes very spoiled later on, as Nami wants to give them a good life.

Evolved: While fighting Baroque Works in the final Alabasta battle.

Reasoning: Money cat.

2) Absol ♀️ (shiny) ⭐️

Met on/at: Random pirate ship in the East Blue.

Background: Freed them from a poacher while working for Arlong. Bonded over being considered bad omens (or so they believed). Helps her recognize warning signs of oncoming natural disasters.

Evolved: Found a Mega-stone in treasure at Thriller Bark. Only achieved it after the timeskip.

Reasoning: Ability to sense on-coming disasters similar to Nami being able to spot storms and her navigation capabilities. Shiny to match her hair.

3) Gimmighoul ⚧️ -> Gholdengo

Met on/at: Skypiea.

Background: Found roaming form in treasure from Skypiea. Freaked out before taking up residence in Nami's treasure. Very good at keeping it organized and safe for her. Not much of a fighter but focuses on keeping the ship safe when the crew is on land. Likes to watch her draw maps.

Evolved: Entirely by accident while trying to protect their treasure at Thriller Bark. Was not looking forward to having Nami find out some of the treasure was now part of their body.

Reasoning: Treasure, gold.

4) Castform ♂️

Met on/at: Weatheria.

Background: Lived with the Weather Wizards to aid them in their studies. Was moved by Nami's drive to help Luffy and then by her bountiful knowledge and skill. Helps her improve Clima-Tact range. Chose to go with her so they could become stronger together as well as see her achieve her dream. Later becomes BFFs with Zeus.

Reasoning: Weather-based abilities.

5) Wattrel ♀️ -> Kilowattrel

Met on/at: Weatheria.

Background: Befriended the entire flock while practicing lightning attacks. Chose to stay with her to keep ‘playing’. A little air-headed but well-meaning. Also BFFs with Zeus.

Evolved: At Dressrossa, while fighting Giolla. Not good at remembering their much bigger now and keeps trying to sit on Nami's shoulder.

Reasoning: Electric bird. Comparable to Nami's favorite attack with Thunder Tempo.

6) Dratini ♂️ -> Dragonair -> Dragonite

Met on/at: On the way to Fish-man Island.

Background: A scardy-cat but still tries to keep sailors safe. Got caught up in the mess with the kraken and volcano on the journey to the island. Stuck with Nami because she let them curl around her shoulders when they got scared. Officially joined at the end of the arc.

Evolved: First during the escape from WCI and then finally during the battle at Onigashima while desperately trying to protect Nami.

Reasoning: Saves sailors from storms and wrecks just like Nami navigates them to safety. Kindhearted.

Special Note: Nami is afraid of Bug Type Pokemon.

Usopp:

1) Spinarak ♂️ -> Ariados

Met on/at: Syrup Village.

Background: First friend, partners in crime. Helped back-up Usopp's lies however they could. Desperately wants to befriend Nami and Sanji (going slowly).

Evolved: During the timeskip. Took so long to evolve because of their personal fear they weren't going to be good enough to help Usopp achieve his dream.

Reasoning: Usopp claims to have played with spiders as a kid.

2) Remoraid ♀️ -> Octillary

Met on/at: Seas of Alabasta.

Background: Fished up on the way to Alabasta. Was too scrawny to eat, took offense to that, and made it their problem until caught by Usopp. Constantly disobeyed him, causing trouble and spitting water at them. Only grew to respect and listen to him in Enies Lobby, both out of his love for Merry and his strength to stand up for Robin.

Evolved: While protecting them at Enies Lobby, when they were stuck on the platform.

Reasoning: Gun fish for the sniper.

3) Finizin ♂️ -> Palafin

Met on/at: Water 7.

Background: Met while he tried to fix Merry. Usopp would talk to Merry and his voice drew in some wild sea Pokemon. Thought it was touching how much he cared for the ship. Saw him and Franky get kidnapped by CP-9, chasing after the sea train. Saw the ‘birth’ of and idolizes Sogeking.

Evolved: As they were leaving Water 7, hyped up by Usopp returning to his friends and wanting to protect them from Garp.

Reasoning: Superhero Pokemon = Sogeking.

4) Dreepy ♀️ -> Drakloak -> Dragapult

Met on/at: Thriller Bark.

Background: Followed them out of curiosity. Got slingshot-ed away by Usopp by accident when he panicked thanks to the zombies. Turned out to love being launched by Usopp's slingshot, kept coming back to him and even offering to help if he kept doing it. Refused to leave.

Evolved: First during the timeskip and then again at Dressrosa, during the final battle.

Reasoning: Likes being shot around. Good for a sniper. Also funny since Usopp is scared of ghosts.

5) Toedscool ♂️ -> Toedscruel

Met on/at: Boin Archipelago.

Background: Tried to kill Usopp at first but had a change of heart when Usopp accidentally saved them both from being eaten by the island. Helped him hone his skills and ammunition, then joined after two years.

Evolved: Over the two years.

Reasoning: Goofy, good at running away really fast. Draws comparisons to Usopp's use of plants and the like later.

6) Floragato ♂️ -> Meowscarada

Met on/at: Dressrosa.

Background: Was particularly feisty and troublesome and thus was turned into a toy by Sugar. Witnessed the God Usopp fight. Was more baffled then moved, choosing to follow Usopp out of morbid curiosity. Respect was grudgingly won when they watched him prepare his attack to protect Luffy from Sugar later on.

Evolved: During the battle at Onigashima.

Reasoning: Uses sleight of hand, showy, like Usopp. Similar to Palafin and Sogeking.

Special Note: Afraid of Ghost Type Pokemon. Still startles around Robin's.

Sanji:

1) Rattata ♂️ (shiny) ⭐️

Met on/at: Germa Kingdom.

Background: One of the rats he fed. Found Sanji in the dungeon and kept him company. Escaped with him, officially being caught once on the ship. Only survived the shipwreck because Sanji forced them to stay in their Pokeball, which kept them in a decent enough stasis until they were found, but only just barely. Has refused to return to their ball ever since.

Evolved: No. Refuses to evolve out of fear of becoming too big to hide on Sanji's person.

Reasoning: Sanji fed mice. Shiny to look more like his hair and play off the idea of a ‘waste of a shiny’. IE a weak or non-viable fighter Pokemon getting a shiny spawn instead of a cooler Pokemon, making the bad shiny more insulting. Sanji was a failure because he didn't mutate, Rattata was a failure because it did mutate.

2) Torchic ♀️ -> Combusken -> Blaziken

Met on/at: Baratie.

Background: A gift from Zeff when he started teaching him how to fight. Sparring partners. Doesn't tolerate Sanji's nonsense with women and will drag him away if they need to. Assists him in the kitchen as well.

Evolved: First evolves at Arlong Park then finally at Enies Lobby. Gifted a Mega-stone by Iva during the timeskip.

Reasoning: Fire-type kicking Pokemon. Completes the Starter Trio with Luffy and Zoro.

3) Feebas ♀️ -> Milotic

Met on/at: Baratie.

Background: Met after opening the Baratie, trying to steal scraps from trash because they were having trouble finding food thanks to being so weak. Sanji cooked them something fresh and told them they could always come to him if they were hungry. Doted on over the years as Sanji honed his cooking. Believes in his dream of the All Blue. Becomes intensely protective of him upon evolving. Love at first sight with Zoro's Magikarp/Gyarados. Thinks he's a real charmer even as a Magikarp. Was starstruck when he evolved. Becomes a mated pair after Little Garden. Neither Sanji or Zoro are aware.

Evolved: To protect him when Don Kreig attacked.

Reasoning: Hard to find yet very pathetic and weak Pokemon in first stage Originally evolves by increasing beauty stat via feeding poffins/special food. Mirrors Zoro's Magikarp/Gyarados.

4) Milcery ♀️ -> Alcremie (Love-Sweet, Matcha)

Met on/at: Kamabakka Kingdom.

Background: Aided him in improving his cooking and fighting skills. Let him vent about Iva and the others, eventually then about the Strawhats and his worries. Prefers cooking to fighting but doesn't shy away from a fight. Very calm and collected.

Evolved: Over the two years. Sanji picked her up while talking/venting over a long night and started gushing. Did his spinny thing.

Reasoning: Food Pokemon.

5) Type: Null ⚧️ -> Silvally

Met on/at: Germa Kingdom.

Background: Found in the Germa cloning lab being experimented on during WCI. Broke them free out of rage during his fight with his siblings, telling it to run. It ran off but found him and Luffy later, tentatively joining them because it didn't know where to go. Sanji had a difficult time looking at them at first but they were able to bond over time. Treats Rattata like an older sibling.

Evolved: During the fight with Queen in Wano. Was brought to tears as Queen tried to kill them and berated them on being Judge's work, given hope when Sanji denied him. Broke their helmet to stand with him.

Reasoning: Artificially created based on a God (Arceus), comparable to the theory that the Vinsmokes were trying to recreate Devil Fruit abilities (hence the swirl brows). Also, helmet, and the symbology of destroying the helmet thanks to friendship and to become stronger. “Through the bond it formed with its Trainer, its will was strengthened, and it was able to destroy its control mask.”

6) Bounsweet ♀️ -> Steenee -> Tsareena

Met on/at: Wano.

Background: Lived in the flower capital of Wano. Hung out around Sanji's noodle stand after he opened it. Befriended Rattata and snuck into Sanji's pocket with them. Didn't really have a reason, very air-headed and doofy. Not a single thought in their head. Doted on by Sanji nonetheless. Surprisingly vicious in a fight upon evolving.

Evolved: First during the battle at Onigashima, then again later at Egghead Island.

Reasoning: Leggy Pokemon.

Special Note: Afraid of Bug Type Pokemon.

Chopper:

1) Egg -> Happiny ♀️ -> Chansey -> Blissey

Met on/at: Jaya.

Background: Found as an egg in the forest of Jaya, while they were looking for a South Bird. Hatched during the freedom party in Skypiea and imprinted on Chopper. Likes to hide under his hat or in his backpack before evolving.

Evolved: First evolved over the timeskip and then again at Wano.

Reasoning: OG healing Pokemon. Pink.

2) Audino ♀️

Met on/at: Torino Kingdom.

Background: Was learning medicine alongside Chopper. Chose to go with him after being told stories of the Strawhats’ adventures by Chopper (half out of admiration, half out of horror over the injuries gotten).

Evolved: Gifted a Mega-stone by the birds (it was in their shiny stash).

Reasoning: Another good nurse Pokemon. Mega-evolves like Chopper's forms.

3) Smoliv ♂️ -> Dolliv -> Arboliva

Met on/at: Zou.

Background: Was touched by the Strawhats saving the Minks. Wants to help people like Chopper does. Doesn't like fighting. Helps tend to Chopper's medicinal garden.

Evolved: For the first time at WCI and then again later while breaking Luffy out of jail in Wano.

Reasoning: Kind Pokemon. Seed Sower ability causes healing. Good support for medical care.

Special Note: Chopper isn't wholly comfortable with having Pokemon partners thanks to his own animal nature. The three he has wouldn't take no for an answer. He treats them more like students or assistants. He can understand Pokemon-speak though it's like deciphering a very thick accent.

Robin:

1) Budew ♀️ (Shiny) ⭐️ -> Roselia -> Roserade

Met on/at: Ohara

Background: Only friend before Saul arrived. Escaped with her when Ohara burned. Extremely protective of her, slow to trust others. Will have no mercy on those that betray or threaten Robin. Relaxes a bit after Enies Lobby, trusting the Strawhats unconditionally to have their back.

Evolved: First evolved not long after escaping Ohara, while protecting a sleeping Robin. Evolved again a couple years down the line when she started going through pirate crews.

Reasoning: Comparable to Robin's Devil Fruit. Shiny colors for darker feelings.

2) Galarian Yamask ♂️ -> Runerigus

Met on/at: Random Ruins

Background: Met in some ruins during her travels to find the Poneglyphs. Likes to people watch. Tends to accidentally creep on others without meaning too, forgetting that ghost powers frighten people.

Evolved: Before joining Crocodile.

Reasoning: Runes. History based and creepy.

3) Cofagrigus ♀️

Met on/at: Random Ruins.

Background: Similar to above. Tried to lure her to her death but was soundly defeated. Was told her goals, piquing their curiosity, and decided to join her. Likes when Robin reads to them or talks about her latest discoveries. Also likes pranking/scaring Usopp, Chopper, and Brook.

Evolved: Before meeting Robin.

Reasoning: Sarcophagus. History stuff. Lottsa hands.

4) Unown (D) ⚧️

Met on/at: Skypiea.

Background: Met while looking through the ruins. Helped her figure out where the bell and Poneglyph were. Feels a pull towards Poneglyphs but cannot explain why. Often seems nervous for no particular reason.

Reasoning: Mysterious. D.

5) Zorua ♀️ (Hisuian) -> Zoroark

Met on/at: Random Island.

Background: Met while traveling with the Revolutionary Army. Was a rescue from an island ravaged by bad marines. Originally meant to be given to the marines in a trade before the RA showed up. Apparently was a regular dark type at that point but died in the ensuing chaos, then somehow came back. Was feral and lashing out in the RA's care but Robin was able to get through to them. Bonded over their painful histories. Wants to help see Robin's dream through.

Evolved: Over the two years.

Reasoning: History of Zoroarks being hunted similar to Robin being hunted by marines. Contrast between Unovan and Hisuian, pairs well with Robin originally seeking death before the Strawhats. Illusions good for evading people.

6) Houndour ♂️

Met on/at: Wano.

Background: Belonged to the Beast Pirates. Was newly hatched when it witnessed Robin fight Black Maria. Felt safe and confused Robin for their mother. Tried to protect her from Brooke when she passed out afterwards. Very cuddly. Loves kisses. Gets dressed up in little outfits.

Evolved: No. Too baby.

Reasoning: Demon dog but actually very sweet. Demonic doesn’t mean evil or bad. Similar to Robin's demon form.

Franky:

1) Squirtle ♂️ -> Wartortle -> Blastoise

Met on/at: Outskirts of Water 7.

Background: Was one of the kids of the Blastoise that saved Franky after being thrown overboard. Was fascinated by him. Stuck around and help fish him out again after being hit by the train.

Evolved: First evolved while trying to pull Franky to safety after the train accident. Later evolved again while running the Franky Family.

Reasoning: Canons. Big, sturdy Pokemon.

2) Golett ⚧️ -> Golurk

Met on/at: The junk ship.

Background: Met after Franky was hit by the train. Was haunting around the scrap heap. Was inspired by how Franky rebuilt himself. Likes to have funky designs painted on their armor, like Franky's star arm tattoos.

Evolved: At Thriller Bark.

Reasoning: Toy-robot like.

3) Galarian Zigzagoon ♀️ (Shiny) ⭐️ -> Linoone -> Obstagoon

Met on/at: Water 7

Background: Stray that he picked up after returning to Water 7. Escaped from visiting pirates. Part of the Franky Family gang, helping steal from pirates. Loves parties and loud music. Leaps before looking.

Evolved: Evolves for the first time while infiltrating Enies Lobby to save Franky and Robin. Evolves again at Dressrosa.

Reasoning: Gang-related (via Sw/Sh), loud and unapologetic. Actually not a bad guy. Shiny as the bright colors match Frank better and stand out more. Goofy.

4) Varoom ♀️ -> Revavroom

Met on/at: Water 7.

Background: Picked up by the Franky Family. Helped power-up Franky's bigger inventions. Can join together with General Franky to give him a boost in strength as well as some poison abilities, and with the Sunny for an emergency boost if low on cola.

Evolved: During the timeskip.

Reasoning: Car. Gang-related (via Sc/Vi). Still not the bad guys. Mechanical.

5) Miraidon ⚧️

Met on/at: Baldimore.

Background: Met at Vegapunk's abandoned lab. Inspired many of Franky's updates and inventions. Timid around new people. Likes Franky because he smells like metal and oil. Is introduced to burgers by Franky, having an enlightening moment. Can be bribed with promises of burgers or fries. Is capable of connecting to any Vegapunk system to download or transfer data. Does not necessarily understand what it means or how to decrypt it.

Reasoning: Motorcycle. Extremely technologically advanced. No line between machine and beast/man. Sandwich gag. Relation to famous scientist.

6) Tinkatink ♀️ -> Tinkatuff -> Tinkaton

Met on/at: Dressrosa.

Background: Was confused as a toy at first. Kept trying to use parts of Franky to make a hammer. Constantly following him and almost getting hurt during the big battle. He liked their spunk. Cannot be left unsupervised in the workshop or they'll keep making bigger and bigger hammers from whatever it finds.

Evolved: First by the end of Dressrosa and then again Egghead Island.

Reasoning: Goofy but strong.

Brook:

1) Chatot ♂️

Met on/at: Random passing ship.

Background: Met while drifting at sea. Their old partner was killed, so they found comfort in each other. Liked Brooke's singing. Officially joined him after Thriller Bark.

Reasoning: Parrot+Pirate=✅️. Musical.

2) Cubone ♂️ -> Alolan Marowak

Met on/at: Thriller Bark.

Background: Lost their family and original partner. Joined Brook tentatively after seeing him mourn his crew in front of their grave.

Evolved: During the two years. One of the few Ghosts Brook isn't afraid of.

Reasoning: Dead friends. “This Pokémon sets the bone it holds on fire and dances through the night as a way to mourn its fallen allies.” Reminds me of Brook's big attack in WCI.

3) Sewaddle ♂️ -> Swadloon -> Leavanny

Met on/at: Sabaody.

Background: Fell onto Brook while they were running from Kuma, was sent with him during the split. Was comforted by Brook and eventually partnered with him. Reminds Brook of his late partner Kricketune. Likes to dance when Brook plays music. Sadly not very good at making music or playing any instrument despite practice but has fun all the same.

Evolved: Both over the timeskip.

Reasoning: Similar to a Kricketune. Agile, light, with sword arms. Similar to Brook.

4) Toxtricity ♀️

Met on/at: Random Island.

Background: Met while touring during the two years. Helped Brook explore more modern music methods. Played back-up while he toured. Tends to accidentally shock Brook when excited. Gets along very well with Franky's Obstagoon.

Evolved: Before meeting Brook.

Reasoning: Represents Brook's electric guitar.

5) Popplio ♀️ -> Brionne -> Primerina

Met on/at: Fish-man Island.

Background: Originally apprenticing with the mermaid cafe/dancers. Heard Brook's music and wanted to learn from him. Thinks he's hilarious, though they don't know what panties are. Will show him random items when he asks to see someones. Gossip buddies with Sanji's Milotic.

Evolved: During the fight with Giolla and again at WCI.

Reasoning: Singer. Also mermaid related, goes well with his perv nature/gags.

6) Fuecoco ♂️ -> Crocalor -> Skeledirge

Met on/at: Dressrosa.

Background: Big Soul King Brook fan. Recognized the Strawhats at Dressrosa and followed them. Sneaks aboard to Zou to meet Brook. Was disappointed by his frazzled appearance at Zou at first but stuck around. Was won over by his dedication on WCI. Strong but prefers making music to fighting.

Evolved: First on WCI then again during the Onigashima battle.

Reasoning: “Skeledirge’s gentle singing soothes the souls of all that hear it.” Also goes well with his electric guitar.

Special Note: He did have another team before his death but they too passed away. He also refuses to have a Wailmer/Wailord on his team as it would feel disrespectful, like trying to replace Laboon (a normal whale). Afraid of Ghost type Pokemon - takes time to adjust to Robin's team.

Jimbe:

1) Basculin ♂️ -> Basculegion

Met on/at: Fish-man Island.

Background: Childhood partner. Has always been by his side. Very honorable and willing to sacrifice for the greater good, though they're not always sure what that is exactly.

Evolved: Evolved fighting off bad human pirates, almost dying. Before Jimbe joined the royal guards.

Reasoning: Old-man fish. Can embody loss and perseverance against racism.

2) Oshawott ♂️ -> Dewott -> Hisuian Samurott

Met on/at: Fish-man Island.

Background: Met when he joined the royal guards. Belonged to them in general. Was partnered up with Jimbe. Didn't get along at first but grew to understand each other. Didn't really agree with leaving the guard or trust Arlong but respected Jimbe and went with him to expand their horizons.

Evolved: First while working as the royal guards and then evolved again while sailing under Fisher-Tiger.

Reasoning: Honorable, samurai-like.

3) Poliwhirl ♂️ -> Poliwrath

Met on/at: Random sea.

Background: Met after becoming a pirate. Had anger issues and went with Jimbe after losing to him, wanting revenge. Calmed with age but will blow a fuse if pushed hard enough.

Evolved: While sailing under Fisher-Tiger. Stole a Waterstone off a marine ship.

Reasoning: Fighting. Similar rage to Jimbe in his youth.

4) Kubfu ♀️ -> Rapid-Strike Urshifu

Met on/at: Random Island.

Background: Joined after Jimbe became a Warlord. Met him as he traveled the lands. Tried to pick a fight but was no match. Was taught Fish-man Karate by Jimbe.

Evolved: After mastering Fish-man Karate and being gifted a Water Scroll.

Reasoning: Represents Jimbe opening himself to humanity after Fisher-Tiger and Koala. Water based fighter. Karate.

5) Herdier ♂️ -> Stoutland

Met on/at: WCI.

Background: Met during WCI. Had bumped into him in passing a couple times before and witnessed his showdown with Big Mom. Was greatly moved by his resolve. Having slowly built up resentment for Big Mom's treatment of her family and disregard for life, they defected and aided their escape. Partnered with Jimbe but was requested to go ahead with the Strawhats both as proof they'd meet again and so he'd know they're being watched over by such an honorable soul.

Evolved: After Jimbe returned, at the Onigashima battle.

Reasoning: “This extremely wise Pokémon excels at rescuing people stranded at sea or in the mountains.” Similar honorable/proud nature. Dependable like Jimbe.

Special Note: Jimbe still has space for one more Pokemon to represent how new he is to the Strawhats and is still carving his place. Will fill the space in time.

Always thinking about Sanji’s role in the crew & in the story because it is so fascinating to me and so full of contradictions. On one hand he is very explicitly noted to be Luffy’s left hand man/wing of the pirate king & also part of the monster trio. He’s also very much one of the best combatants on the straw hats & is part of that hypercompetent fighting group that can pull these insane fighting moves as a normal (ish, without Germa) human being.

And yet, he seems to do everything he can to give himself handicaps while he fights. He refuses to use weapons and only will fight with his legs because he prioritizes his cooking over his fighting ability. He adamantly refuses to fight about half the world’s population, to the point where doing so would be considered wildly out of character for him. Everything about him works to reject his family history of warrior training/abilities & he constantly works to not use anything from his family even though it would make him a much stronger fighter. He prioritizes his sense of self over his strength as a fighter and always has and always will.

And yet, he’s very much positioned in the actual story and within fandom/fan understanding as Zoro’s equal & opposite. Zoro also very much sees him that way and fights him constantly at an equal level, and the trash talk is all part of the hypercompetitiveness that exists between them & implies that they view each other as equals. While Zoro’s bounty is usually higher there was a time when it was not, implying Sanji was once seen as greater threat & therefore is placed on the same or similar level as Zoro as a warrior.

And yet. Zoro is many ways is given these dues as a warrior while Sanji is not. Zoro is part of the worst generation, Sanji is not. Zoro usually has a higher bounty, Zoro had access to conqueror’s Haki. Sanji does not. Zoro’s dream is centered around bettering himself to be the greatest at a very specific fighting skill. Sanji’s dream has nothing to do with fighting or being a warrior. Zoro’s position on the ship is explicitly noted to be swordsman: a warrior. Sanji’s is a cook: not a warrior. There is this very specific divide with how these two are treated, even though they are also placed as each other’s equal and opposite.

And yet. Many of Sanji’s most notable moments in the story are of his fight& of his role in protecting the crew/being in a warrior position. Skypeia vs Enel. Water 7 on the train. Thriller Bark with his near-sacrifice. Sabaody where he goes down fighting. His fight vs Queen. Whole Cake. His reputation out of story is very much that of a warrior.

And yet. Equally his non warrior related character traits define him in everything. His relationship with women. His cooking. His family relationships. His two year training, which focused not on fighting but on…flying? His anger & complete lack of emotional restraint and tendency to wear his heart on his sleeve completely. His carefully curated appearance. His complete and total dedication to his found family.

And so on and so on. Everything about Sanji as a warrior/fighter and as a character seems to be so many contradictory things at the same time. It’s so so interesting.

As an expanding of previous post about how fucking confusing Luffy is, if only because of the languages he speaks, which are fucking random for a seventeen-year-old pirate from a lost corner of the East Blue :

On the Strawhat crew, you don't ask questions about the others' pasts, that's the most important unsaid rule. You can ask about the crew though, so Robin, between the events of Thriller Bark and Sabaody, decides to get to know the others better, as well as the mechanics of the crew, especially those of the Romance Down trio and East Blue group.

Her investigation begins backwards, from Sanji, to Usopp, to Nami, to Zoro, to Luffy.

From Sanji, she gets the story of how their captain destroyed part of the Baratie, worked there for a single day, encouraged a fight between Hawkeye and Zoro, as he himself fought against one of the big shots in the East Blue, some armoured guy with an enormous fleet who couldn't survive Paradise.

Usopp tells an unusually under-romanced story about this ex-pirate turned butler who was planning on killing his lover Kaya for her money, and how Luffy and Zoro saved them all from the tall butler with poops drawn onto his tailcoat.

Nami tells her about meeting Luffy and Zoro in Orange Town, planning on robbing them dry for a map to the Grand Line, escaping Buggy the Clown, fleeing by herself to go back to Arlong and hopefully buy back her village, Luffy freeing her (she got to wear his hat, Robin notes with attention).

Zoro grunts about a planned execution in a Marine base, something about killing wolves and eating sugared rice balls, and, the most surprising of all, how Luffy, accompanied by the small pink-haired Marine they saw on Water Seven, seemed to know about him beforehand and deliberately wanting to recruit him (he's the only one of them Luffy got out of his way to specifically recruit before even meeting them).

Luffy's story makes less sense. Robin can't get him to tell where exactly he'd been sailing from, and tales of getting sucked into a whirlpool and meeting a big pirate lady are overlapped with descriptions of foods he got to eat and bugs he got to see on his way from wherever his native island is to the Marine base he found Zoro in. With how thick his accent is, she hoped to pin down his island, but the only other time she's heard it was in Vice-Admiral Garp's mouth, and she also doesn't know where he's from further than the East Blue.

Before she can get any more specific, toeing the line of prying, they get to Sabaody and Robin can't ask anymore questions.

What she gets to see and hear on the archipelago doesn't help : with this place being a gathering point for travelers and merchants from all seas, every languages known to her and some she doesn't know are spoken. Her Eastern crewmates struggle a bit, only knowing their native tongue and the most basic version of Grand (even if Zoro's accent hints to him speaking something else entirely, and by having been born in the North Blue Sanji understands one specific Northern dialect, even though he managed to erase all traces of it from his accent), but Luffy gets the strange Grand variation that points to a pirate having lived in the New World, and the vague noble they cross paths with, he can decipher their stuck-up tongue and posh accent, which surprises her a lot.

The New World Grand she can pin down to Luffy having spent, from her understanding, quite a bit of his formative years alongside a New World crew, Shanks' one.

The noble tongue, she can't link to anything. There's nothing that associates Luffy and the nobility, especially with who his father is. She tried asking the others about Ace, who could have given some type of hint, but all the feedback she gets on him is about how polite he was towards them, how affectionate towards Luffy, and how strong towards the Marines.

When Luffy punches the Celestial Dragon at the auction house, she can see that even if the fact that he wanted to buy their friend Camie infuriated him, that punch seemed a bit too personal, only adding to the mystery : why does Luffy speak a noble tongue if the Celestial Dragons are the only people Robin's seen him hate on principle ?

Welcome back! Pick a name! I'm bad at naming things! I will respond to anything so yeah, no worries. Also OPLA really sold Zeff x Garp to a lot of people so like. I get it. I'm answering another ask RN about RSL+ASL but it's long so I'll grab this one first.

As for everyone's reactions to ASL all dating Sanji: Dragon has to come to terms that two of his sons are dating a cook on one of his son's pirate crew. He sighs so heavily about this and Garp laughs at him and explains that Sanji is Zeff's adopted kid and that makes Dragon sigh again, more heavy and drawn out and exasperated.

The Whitebeard fleet hears about it in stages, first has gotta be Marco and Teach who are laughing their asses off that Ace has to share his boyfriend with his two little brothers. Then Thatch laughs his ass off. White Beard is confused because he finds out this has been going on since childhood, which makes it make more sense but he finds out that it's Redleg's kid and Redleg let three people date his kid. That part makes no sense to him. The fact they're siblings makes it back to zero understanding. He and Ace talk about it once and that's it.

The Strawhat's find out in stages. Vivi and Chopper and the East Blue crew all know Sanji and Luffy are dating but then when Ace shows up and he hauls Sanji off and yelling at Luffy it's his turn with their boyfriend there are shocked gasps and sputtering and confused yells from everyone but Luffy who just goes 'Okay! Have fun!' and goes back to whatever he was doing. Robin, Franky, and Brook find out between Thriller Bark and Sabaody. They knew about Luffy, it's hard not to, but they hear about Ace from the other members. No one has told them about Sabo. Sanji thinks he at least has that.

Then like Marineford happens and Ace lives because of course. Fuck him dying. Sabo still has his memory but has been in the revolutionary army since like sixteen or seventeen and has his memory so he was probably there. When they ask Luffy where his crew is Luffy is crying and says he doesn't know because Kuma.

Ace joins the crew after the TS and he and Luffy are really excited to see Jimbei again and then he is introduced as Luffy and Ace's boyfriend which makes Sanji sigh and introduce himself as the cook. Dressrosa happens and Ace is happy to see Sabo who asks where Sanji is and Ace is like 'one of the other teams' and Sabo nods. When Law and everyone is resting in the cabin Sabo whines that Luffy is sleeping and Sanji isn't there and Ace excitedly tells him about Sanji firing on Big Mom. Law asks why Sabo cares that Sanji's not there and Ace and Sabo go 'he's our boyfriend, and Luffy's boyfriend.' which throws the cabin into chaos.

Meanwhile Sanji is telling Judge this isn't going to go how he thinks it'll go and when Reiju asks why as she puts the cuffs on Sanji tells them who his boyfriends are. All three of them. Everyone is staring at him. THe Vinsmokes don't care and when the rescue team, Ace, and Sabo come get him? It's a long and arduous explanation and escape. Sabo is of course and understandably weary to leave but does after a lot of reassurances and kisses and the number to the denden mushi on the Sunny. Ace never leaves Sanji's side during Wano unless Luffy is there or they're with the crew. It's very stressful for Sanji.

Summary: After losing you in Thriller Bark, Zoro lost a part of himself. He thought the worse was over when the crew left but his pain had only just begun. Cut to the crew's reunion, Zoro finds himself in more trouble than before, vulnerable and blindsided to the unexpected visitor in Sabaody.

Word Count: 2,500

Zoro sat in his pain, suffocating him like a poisonous snake.

It was easy for him to hide his true intentions, knowing the damage Thriller Bark had caused him both emotionally and physically. Zoro could shrug off his true feelings with intense training; the pain from his open wounds causing him a searing comfort. However, the crew was clueless to the added pain caused by loosing you. He cared about you; you were his friend.

Heck, Zoro loved you.

Zoro was too proud to say it when you were alive, unaware that there would be a last day with you. You were one of the strongest members of the crew, reassuring his troubled mind you would be safe from harm.

That was until Thriller Bark.

He had never seen you so helpless before, so still, gazing at your body after being struck down; killing you instantly. Luffy’s wounded body pulled him out of shock, knowing he had to step up and protect the remaining crew.

He couldn’t let it happen again.

Zoro selfishly wished it had been someone else so he could protect you better. He wished for you to be with him again. He missed how you would accompany him while he trained or sat with him as he drank. He missed your laugh; your smile. Nothing eased his mind as much as when you were around. He trusted you wholeheartedly, naming you even closer than he was with Luffy, almost becoming a part of himself.

The turmoil that came during Thriller Bark and Sabaody became Zoro’s comfort, getting him through every unbearable day after the other. He was able to feel every emotion in his body, overwhelmed with whiplash of extremes from his own bodily discomfort and flashbacks, to memories and daydreams of you. Once the crew had split, he burrowed himself into training viciously, aiming to forget about you and his hurt, knowing there was a new goal he had; to reunite with his crew. And although he tried to do so, his nights became restless, dreaming of you the moment his eyes shut, every night over those brutal two years.

Zoro knew he couldn't forget you so he sat, weighed down by the ghost of you. A part of him knew he couldn't forget you, but the other part knew, just like with Kuina, there was comfort in knowing his goals and ambitious were driven by two of the people he loved the most.

“(Y/n)?” Luffy questioned, watching as you swung past them, easily sliding into their battle.

Ignoring Luffy’s comment you continued on, refusing to look at any of them; knowing you might break. You had read upon Luffy’s request for the crew, knowing it was exactly what you needed. You missed the crew - missed Zoro - more than anything and were desperate to wiggle back into their lives after what happened. You were unsure if they would understand your reason for leaving them but you had to try.

You had to make things right again.

The initial shock had wore off the monster trio, watching in awe as their eyes casted on you again; jumping back into the fight. It was almost like the years apart did not matter, the four of you easily weaving between each other to take out your enemies. Out of the corner of your eye you spotted the familiar tufts of green, your heart soaring at being in Zoro’s presence again.

The abundance of enemies the boys collected served as a buffer, allowing you to distract yourself from any relief looking at them may endure. You hadn’t felt so at peace in a fight for a long time, knowing their company was enough to project whatever strength you had pushed aside since you left them. Knocking down your final victim with a heavy blow you let out a boisterous sigh, knowing the boys were waiting behind you, watching for your next move.

Wiping over your brow with a shaky hand you turned back to your friends, smiling at them as they all looked back at you. You fluttered your eyes between all of them, noticing vastly different looks on all their faces, exactly how you remembered them to be.

Luffy's jaw dropped, gawking with amazement, speechless gasps tickling his throat. Sanji washed over in a love-struck faze, collapsing into a heap as his nose dripped blood. Zoro stood as he usually did, tall and stoic, his emotions covered by a thick wall of unspeakable damage.

Waving nervously you greeted your fellow crewmates, your voice creaking with an uncomfortable shake. For a moment non of the boys said anything, their faces all but speaking for themselves; seeing their once deceased friend alive again.

A sudden bellow parted from Luffy, amused at the strange occurrence to find you here. Placing his hand upon his forehead he projected a sound you recognised well, a typical heartfelt Luffy laugh. You couldn’t help but smile as your captain welcomed your presence once more.

"(Y/N)!' Luffy exclaimed, his laugh quietening down. Quickly switching his movements he came running towards you with outstretched arms "YOU'RE BACK! MY CREW IS BACK TOGETHER AGAIN!"

Placing your feet back onto the Thousand Sunny you quickly ignored the confused gasps of the remainder of your friends. You understood it had to be an absurd scene to see you return, reuniting with them all seemed all but a dream to those around you.

Greeting everyone else the same you did before, your heart sunk, knowing there was a chance they might not share the same enthusiasm of your captain. You struggled to continue eye contact, flickering to everywhere else but your crew, afraid what their expressions truely meant.

A warm embrace shifted your attention, feeling the limbs of your friend encompassing you; long orange hair from the navigator lingering in your face. Her hug was met with a continuation of her affection, members circling around you both to form a tightly knit hug suffocating you at the centre of it all. Your captain tied you all together, his long arms stretching far around as he babbled on, questions falling from his mouth like he was running out of time to ask them.

Ushering the crew off you for a chance of air, you directed them to sit, mindlessly ignoring their confused questions prompted from Luffy, stringing from one member to the next; fishing for answers. Shifting your feet down under you, you took a seat between Luffy and Robin, waiting for your friends to settle; knowing there were burning questions for you.

"What happened to you?" Robin queried, her voice smooth, tracing no hint of anger in her tone.

"It's a long story..."

"Well please explain" Nami spoke up "I think we all deserve to know what happened"

"You do" you agreed, taking a deep breath in.

"I had a troubling past with some marines - with everybody really. All my life I have been tracked for something I couldn't control and a few years ago I thought I fixed the problem... I thought I was safe with you all... I hid who I truely was from you, disgusting myself and my true form, because I didn't want any of you to be hurt because of me; because of what I am"

"And what are you exactly?"

"I come from a long and powerful linage of rare fae... making me the last of my kind. My entire species was wiped out when I was a child and I have been a leading suspect for most tracking fleets since then... changing myself and making any tracking positions think I am dead was the only way to get by"

"So similar to Robin?" Luffy chimed in, pointing over at the archeologist beside you.

"Well in a way, yes, but when we reached Thriller Bark I knew something was different... I knew there had been a shift in my status and they were catching on I was alive and part of this crew... I had to disappear again before they found me; found you all"

You were met with a circle of silence, their minds working overtime to breakdown everything you said to them. Non of their faces showed any sign of anger of disproval of your return. A good sign, you thought. You sat to answer more of their questions, letting the group slowly disband with their satisfaction, withdrawing to resume a usual routine as if you never left; leaving you to watch still seated on the Sunny’s deck.

Looking up you were met with an outstretched hand, dangling in your face. Following the arm up you met a familiar warm face, a thin smile etched in his beautiful pout. Zoro radiated a comfort that didn’t require words, his mannerism speaking more than he ever could. The two of you knew how to communicate in more ways than one, spurring your closeness before your disappearance. You could tell he wasn’t mad, but the subtle shake in his hand guided there was something he has to say; something in private.

Taking Zoro’s hand you stood up, letting him guide you around the side of the ship; somewhere the two of you knew you would be safe from prying ears. He waited a few seconds before sliding you up against the wall, making sure you were both safe, encapsulating you between his arms either side of your head. Physically, he was different, more scars and muscles than you remember, but the same sweet interior still remained; he hadn’t changed one bit.

“(Y/n)” Zoro boxed you deeper against the wall, his voice groggy from exhaustion. Looking up to meet his eye you hands followed, cupping his cheeks still; taking in how he felt under your fingertips. He was warm under your skin, a radiant glow dancing across his cheeks as you touched him.

“I know… I’m sorry…”

“You were gone” his hands attempted to grip into the wall, lost on how to act, his mind swimming with thoughts of you dead. But you were here again. “You died…”

“No, I didn’t. I just had to disappear for a while, I’m sorry, Zoro, for everything”

Zoro could feel his voice breaking, gurgling in his throat, forcing his confession to surface. Stubborn tears cradled his eye in a bid to tip over, letting him shut it tight as loose drops trickled down his cheek; your thumb wiping them clean. His lips trembled, breaking his cold behaviour, years of build up regret and longing to have you back looming right in front of him.

“You were gone… you left us… I loved you - I still do - and you just... died… I saw you die… I couldn't protect you... I couldn't bring you back... We had to just leave you there... I left you there... (Y/n), I'm sorry I didn't do anything more to keep you with us... with me...”

Leaning up slowly you connected your lips to Zoro, reminding him you were here; that you were still alive. In a more perfect world you would have wished for a better first kiss, one where you both stumbled in each others arms after a date; one that made you lightheaded and weak at the knees. However, you knew that would never be the case; not with how your lives intertwined. You both engaged in a treacherous life and perhaps the idea of romance would be only a dream to you both.

But you both had to try.

Zoro's arms wrapped around your body, pressing you back deeper against the wall. His hands moved into your skin, gripping tight into your flesh afraid you would leave again. He could feel his whole body shake as he engulfed you, wishing to stay like this for the rest of his life. He had only mere dreams of kissing you like this - how you would taste - but nothing compared to how you felt in that moment. Neither of you were sure if it was the intense longing you shared for many years or the abrupt reunion but something founded the kiss in a fever you couldn’t escape.

Satisfied you were real, Zoro broke away, gasping heavily as he continued to hold you close to him. His eye slowly fluttered open to look down at you, now pierced with a hurtful sting of red from his emotions.

"Take me with you next time" Zoro pleaded, squeezing you closer. "I can't be apart from you again"

"Zoro..."

"Please, (Y/n). Promise me you won't disappear on me again; I can't lose you now you're back. I'll keep you safe, so just stay with me"

"I can't promise you that, Zoro"

"Well try to" Zoro barked, changing his tone. "I'm not going to let you leave when things get tough, (Y/n)! We will fight for you again and again to have you with us, we don't care who stands in our way! You were there when we rescued Robin, you know what happens when a member of the crew is in trouble! You are no exception here! You are a part of us, a part of me, and I’ll be fucking damned if I let you slip away from us again!”

Resting your hands down onto Zoro's chest you leaned away from him, taking a moment to think about what he said. You knew it would be cruel to promise him you’d stay or take him with you if you were to leave again; you wished to keep him safe. Any promise to him would simply be a wasted breath, knowing there was no guarantee in your words.

"I understand what you are saying, Zoro, but this is more than just me leaving; there is more at stake. I will do whatever I can to be here with you, but understand that I will always put you and the crew's safety over me and that may include outcomes you might not like. I can't promise anything because I don't know what my future holds; what our future holds"

Your hands wrapped around his thick neck, sliding yourself up into a tight hug. "But for now can we just be? I would like us to exist like this for a while without the thought of being torn apart; can we do that for a while?"

Zoro was quiet, his rapid heartbeat hammering against you as you held onto him, giving him a moment to think clearly. Choking back more abrasive tears he nodded, giving up on fighting you as of now. He wanted to enjoy having you back and if that meant to live oblivious to the outside world for a while he would do it. He would do anything for you.

"Okay" he mumbled, sliding his arms into a more comfortable brace around your body. "We can enjoy what we have now, but when it's time, I will fight for you to stay again. I will fight for you, (Y/n), for the one I love"
