Dear Tumblr: I’ve got some European Netflix show recommendations which don’t get enough love because they’re not in English (plz use the subtitles and not the dubs- you get used to them I swear 😭) - to be fair, sometimes the writing is a little… off in some of them but they’ve also brought me a lot of joy lmao…
1) Ragnarök (Netflix) - a Norwegian retelling of Norse mythology as a teen drama, very fun, cannot wait for the next season- it’s been so long in production 😔🤞 (💕💕💕Laurits, a relatable queer icon)
2) Le fate ignoranti (The Ignorant Angels) (Netflix) - what is essentially an Italian soap, but the cheating guy dies at the very beginning and it’s all about the lives of his wife and boyfriend continuing and intersecting. Endearing in all of its flaws and vvv beautiful (+gays+found family+dramaaa) 😭
3) Specifically season 2 of Barbaren (Barbarians) (Netflix) - a quasi-historical German show about the Roman occupation over the Germanic tribes- I’ve only watched a season 2 and admittedly skipped a bit to the scenes with Marbod and Flavus (the gay bits)😭 but it was good- I enjoyed the costumes and sound especially, as well as the fight scenes (there is a bit of gore though; be warned) - big fan of the finale tactics
I’d love to hear about any other foreign language shows you’ve really enjoyed! (I mean especially if they’re gay… 👀) :)

Hela | What If
Love that What If s2 gave us a Hela that is:
- bold, witty (for sure the sis of Thor & Loki), willing to learn, adorable in traditional Chinese dress (汉 Hàn 服 if I'm not wrong- the Han's costume - the contrast & line delivery, damn), a polyglot (likely a studious daughter, not like we expect any less from her but still, screw Odin..), has a great sense of humour & charm
- knows what's up, willing to sacrifice her crown ("Are you,Hela, the goddess of crowns?" "Give him Hell" 😭 like the one she was banished in) but still would immediately start a fight with her nemesis Raggy 😆
I don't think it's necessarily Goddess of Death vs Goddess of Life here. She could very well still be the Goddess of Death, but only the death of the evil, having gained a new appreciation for life. These are just titles and we stan a versatile queen who can be whoever she wants to be.
More things I love in this:
Hela & Fenris 🥰, Cate Blanchett (her accent & voice 🤩, altho her mandarin voice is like a different person), Hela in 汉服 just hits home for me, she and her siblings getting along (pls marvel we need more, same goes to her facing off thanos)

Taika the satire idiot gave us hope then infinity war took it all away that thor and loki could ever have some kind of common ground
Oh right that was what you meant(I assume you're the same anon?). I didn't feel like the finale was like the beginning of IW. Loki's death in IW meant to be final. They had no plan to make a TV show when they were filming it. They even broke the fourth wall to make sure everyone get that this is his end. And in every interview tried desperately to convince the fans that Loki was dead this time for good.
And Loki's death was pointless, violent and graphic. He was treated as nothing but a plot device for other characters. And the directors claimed it was sth that he deserved.
This wasn't the case in the finale. He was portrayed as a hero not deserving of this fate. He was shown having the ability to travel through time and space (time slipping), stop time and keep the universe alive. And it was shown he can hear or maybe see what happens in each timeline. So he has infinite power and literally infinite knowledge on his hands. And he is Loki. Nothing can bound him forever. He'll find a better way.
So I have hope for the first time in years that we might actually get a Thor and Loki reunion worthy of og characters.
