If You Flirted
<Prev || Part 15 || Next>
You: *fidgets and reaches for the vampire bite* Hi *smiles* I’m (Y/n) Judith Black
Rosalie: Rosalie Lillian Hale.
You: … *stutters* ah right. My. My brain… stopped. *chuckles* you ever have one of those days…
Rosalie: *smiles* not very often, no. Do you tend to be this deep in the forest, alone?
You: *raises eyebrows* I’m not alone. I’m with you. But I guess you can say I’m out in the forest often just never on this side
Rosalie: and what do you do in the forest
You: *smiles* stop and smell the roses
Rosalie: *chuckles* that was bad
You: *chuckles* you loved it. *holds out your hand* you wanna go for a walk? Stop and smell the roses with me
Rosalie: *smiles and takes your hand*
You and Rosalie: *starts trekking through the forest*
You: *jumps over a log and holds out your hand for Rosalie
Rosalie: *gets over the log with your help* not very use to seeing the forest from this low. It’s pretty
You: *hums* not as pretty as you
Rosalie: you know, for someone who turns into a wolf, you’re surprisingly really charming
You: *blushes* oh, I could say the same about someone who sparkles in sunlight.
Rosalie: well at least I’m not hairy
You: Fur keeps me warm in the cold, Well warmer.
Rosalie: *suggestive* I’m sure my icy touch could warm you up just fine
You: *blushes* is that a promise
Rosalie: *smirks* maybe
You: *brings intertwined hands to your lips and kisses Rosalie’s hand*
Rosalie: you can ask me anything you know. I won’t bite, we’ll unless you asked.
You: You seem like the type…
You and Rosalie: *reaches a two-tier waterfall*
Rosalie: *notices the bite mark, frowns and reaches to touch it*
You: *flinches*
Rosalie: *pulls away* sorry
You: *grabs her hand and places it are your heart* it’s okay
Rosalie: what happened?
You: my friend Quil and I were up in Seattle. I was angry with my brother’s obsession of Bella and Quil missed his friends who were in the pack. We were ordered to not interact with our old friends. I found a loop hole, Quil wasn’t my friend. A newborn caught my scent, came after Quil and I. I couldn’t shift, not when Quil was close, so I jumped into the newborn’s path. It allowed time for Quil to shift for the first time and kill it. And I felt a burning pain, passed out and woke up the next morning. Or at least I think it was the next morning
Rosalie: *caresses the scar*
You: I’ll gladly bear the pain if you’d like to leave marks
Rosalie: I couldn’t do that to you
You: *whispers* you could have me anyway you like
You and Rosalie: *forhead touches*
Rosalie: *whispers* it feels so good but so wrong. To have you complete me in such a short amount of time
You: what can I say, I guess I have some sort of charm *kisses Rosalie’s cheek* you complete me too.

What do you headcanon a Child of the Moon to look like? Twilight Vampires look different from a classic Vampire, so a Child of the Moon might not look like a classic Werewolf.
This isn't really a headcanony blog, anon. Sometimes I delve into it, but it's not really in the spirit of the blog.
But I suppose we can break the status quo for once.
Let's Remember Canon for a Bit Anyway
Well, we have a few clues here. The legend of the werewolf is widespread in the Twilight universe and presumably not because of the shapeshifters, as from the way the Volturi and Cullens reacted they were a very local phenomenon to their very small region on the North American continent (not to mention other differentiating points such as the control over shifting, no association at all with turning during a full moon, and full control over their mental facilities while a wolf).
However, we do have the fact they're associated with wolves, that Caius initially mistakes the Quileute for being Children of the Moon, and the fact that two seconds later Caius is able to accept they're not actually Children of the Moon. What this means is that they only really look close at a glance but must somewhat resemble wolves themselves.
They're not going to be the wolves we see from the shapeshifters: wolves that look perfectly wolf-like but simply larger than normal. However, they're probably on four legs, covered in fur, and large.
If there's any credence to the "moon" part, which there very well could be for that to even be a part of the legend at all, then they're probably only seen at night which would make them generally harder to make out for human victims (so even if they don't look exactly like wolves, they're huge, furry, and terrifying ergo wolves they are).
Which brings us to the point where we can start headcanoning.
The Headcanon
Probably very large, immediately distinct from regular wolves, but still moving somewhat like and looking like a 'wolf'. To be a real threat to vampires they'd have to be very strong and very fast, perhaps with regenerative capabilities.
If you're going to make me guess: I'm picturing rabid looking furry things that aren't quite a bear and aren't quite a wolf, that you don't get a good glimpse of because they're running so fast you don't even know they're there. Probably move on all fours like an actual wolf.

edward i care so much abt people ive only killed rapists and murderers and im tortured by the idea of damning bella’s soul even tho i turned her regardless but im gonna try to kill myself by exposing myself in front of a crowd of people who will then also be killed bc they saw me and im doing all this bc i think my ex killed herself as a direct result of me LEAVING HER IN THE FUCKING WOODS TO ROT all while knowing we just killed a mated vampire and they’re notoriously vengeful cullen.
mr. i treat this girl like shit and like she’s a little baby and like she’s my play toy all at the same time but i get to be the one to swoop in and say all the textbook gaslighting and manipulation and narcissistic terms u could ever think of to make myself look better bc her other bf fights dirty for her bc unlike me who just says he cares abt her soul and eternal damnation and living a full human life he actually cares abt all that shit and also knows that she’s mostly into me bc i’m like a drug to her bc im an apex predator whose sole reason for existing is to lure people in to EAT THEM and im addicted to her bc the smell of her BLOOD.

Hot Head
Tumblr media
Request: Could you write something about him and a hot headed reader who has no time for anyone's BS? Maybe reader is friends with the wolves and gets both sides in line when it comes to talking about each other, none of them dares to make rude comments about each other in front of you, you may be human but you can be low key scary when angry
Words: 1332
Warnings: None really, Paul getting smacked down verbally, me not knowing how to right someone being scary or mean.
---
If there is one thing the wolves and vampires agree on, it is to not mess with you. Not after the incident with Paul.
You grew up in Forks, a close friend to the Blacks and Clearwaters, but also the Swans. You, Jacob, and Bella would play together in the forest as kids, making mudpies and pretending to be adventurers. You were always the brave one back then, the loud one, the first one to punch someone if they picked on Bella when her parents split up.
You still are that one. The hot head.
When the Cullens came to town, you, like everyone, were attracted to the strange, other than aura surrounding them. Unlike everyone else though, you were stubborn enough to befriend them. You couldn’t help but gravitate towards Jasper, with his quiet, gentlemanly charm.
Apparently he was equally drawn to your spit-fire, bold spirit. He always says the day he decided to “court” you was the day you tore someone a new one in the hall for spreading rumors about his family. Your anger was like a fire, destructive and all-consuming, but to him, it was warmth and light, sparked from how much you care for your friends.
Jasper evened you out in ways you never thought someone could. He could bring you down from any ledge with a single touch, sometimes a single look. Things felt softer around him, you felt softer around him.
Even after learning about the Cullens being vampires and some of the Quileutes being wolves, you never felt pressured to choose a side. Maybe it was stubbornness. Maybe foolishness. But you kept a foot in both worlds, unwilling to give up on the friendships you had all your life.
That being said, you couldn’t tolerate the animosity between the two groups, especially from the wolves.
“I can’t believe we have to work with the leeches.”
It’s quiet, you wouldn’t have caught it if you weren’t standing with Jacob, talking about the battle plan Jasper has come up with. Everything felt like it was going okay. The Cullens and the Pack had made a temporary pact to protect Bella, and you thought they were all okay with it.
Your brow furrows as you look over to where Paul and Jared stand off to the side with a very confused looking Seth. The smaller boy meets your gaze, dark eyes wide. You bite down a small spark of anger.
It’s Paul, you remind yourself. He’s never happy. All bark, no bite. It’s fine.
“You never know what kind of accidents will happen in the heat of battle, though.”
It’s like being doused in lighter fluid. Anger turns to rage. Rage into a burning urge to cause the shapeshifter ungodly amounts of pain.
Not fine. Definitely not fine.
“(Y/n)...” Jacob starts, discomfort clear in his tone.
He heard it. They all heard it. And Paul has the nerve to wear a smirk like he’s proud of his poorly veiled threat.
Your jaw aches from how hard you grind your teeth.
“I’m gonna kill him,” you growl, body surging forward, only to be stopped by a cool hand on your arm.
You flip, eyes meeting with a pair of calm gold ones. Jasper holds on to you gently, grip loose, thumb resting over your racing pulse. He must have crossed the clearing when he sensed your rising anger. He perks a brow at you, and for a brief moment, you feel the fire dull in your veins.
A chance to think clearly.
You take a deep breath, frustration still crackling in your lungs.
You’ve had enough. Enough of the snide comments, the ugly whispers, the looks. You’ve had enough of all of it. It’s ridiculous that they can’t just get along.
“Let go of me, Jas,” you murmur, giving him a steady look.
The vampire nods, letting you go without hesitation, and takes a few steps back. Good. You really don’t want him getting in the middle of this.
You turn back to the small group of wolves, teeth practically barred as you bark out sharply, “Hey, Lahote!”
All eyes turn towards you as you stalk up to the burly man. Paul eyes you warily, the tension in the clearing rising as you come toe to toe with him. You may only be human, but even the wolves can sense the anger boiling the air around you. The sun might as well not be out with how dark the clouds hanging over your head are.
“What, (L/n)?” He has the gaul to sound irritated.
As if he has any right.
“You want to run that by me again?” You sneer, and you can’t help but feel a deep sense of satisfaction when he flinches minutely. “Accidents happen, huh? Is that what you said?”
“Well-”
“Shut it,” you snap, and his smile falters, lips pulling into a tight line. “Don’t make this worse by talking before you think, like you always do. You’d think the wolf brain would shift back with you, but I guess not! And you know, I’ve been working so hard to make you thick-headed idiots - not you Seth - see how ignorant you’re being. You’ve all been nothing but horrible to the Cullens!” Your scathing glare travels over the pack, and they all shift uncomfortably. “They have done nothing to deserve it. At least they try to be respectful, and they would never, never threaten one of you.” Your eyes land back on Paul, and the giant man shrinks back. “So why do you think it’s okay, huh?”
He doesn’t answer, doesn’t even meet your gaze. It’s like looking at a completely different person from the usually aggressive, quick to anger wolf. You can’t help but scoff.
“Yah, that’s what I thought. Grow up, Paul. I’m sick of you acting like a spoiled kid who gets away with whatever he wants. I expect better from Sam’s third in command. So why don’t you try to actually focus on your role for once so your idiotic ideas don’t get one of your packmates killed?”
By the end of your rant, your hands are practically shaking as you cross your arms over your heaving chest. It’s the only way you can stop yourself from hitting him, which wouldn’t do anything except make you feel better.
It does help that Paul looks thoroughly kicked. His ears are tinged red, and he looks so, so angry, but also embarrassed as he just scowls at the ground. Sometimes a verbal beating is just as satisfying, this being one of those times. That done, you turn your attention to Sam. The alpha straightens up, apprehension flickering across his face.
“I better not hear anything like this again,” you order, “If you can’t at least be decent, don’t expect me to hold back. I have plenty to say, some of which I think the elders would be more than interested to hear about. Like-”
“I understand,” Sam quickly cuts you off, dark eyes narrowing as you smile all too smugly. Perks of growing up with them and knowing a lot of their secrets. “I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
With a satisfied nod, you feel your anger recede. It falls away just as easily as it appeared, leaving you almost unnervingly calm as you trot back to Jasper’s side. The blond watches you, eyes gleaming with pride.
“You know we can handle ourselves right?” He murmurs, amusement slanting his lips as he slips an arm around your shoulders. “Have been for a hundred years.”
You sigh and lean into him, “I know, but that doesn’t mean I need to stand by and watch them act like that. I’d do the same thing if any of you said something like that about them!”
“I’m sure, darlin’.”
“Are you teasing me?” You glare at him playfully.
His smile pulls just a smidge wider. “Of course not, ma’am.”
“I swear to God, Jasper-!”
---
I literally had no idea how to end this so I hope this works. I hope you enjoyed it! Love y'all, feels good to be writing again!

Be Somebody to Someone 2/4
You've lived your entire life in Forks, Washington without anyone paying too close attention to you. Then you befriend the new girl and suddenly you find yourself friends with the unexpected. And maybe even something more if a certain shapeshifter stops denying the Fates.
PART ONE | PART TWO | PART THREE | PART FOUR
Tumblr media
Words: 4.8K Author’s Note: Congrats! You guys hit 100+ notes on the first part. If this gets the same treatment, I’ll post part three if that happens :)
With your newfound knowledge of the Quileute shapeshifters, you find yourself invited to a bonfire held by the Elders on the reservation. But when you find out you and Bella are to be the first outsiders ever permitted, you try to worm your way out so as to not break their tradition.
Emily, however, is in your corner and convinces you to attend. So you do and to none of your friends' surprise, you find yourself absolutely enthralled with the Quileute legends and the Third Wife's sacrifice. It also probably didn't help that you had taken an edible and had a bit of a trip while listening.
Then with as much time as you spend visiting La Push, your parents surprise you with a brand-new Jeep- it being an early birthday present so you didn't have to hunt down a ride to your new favorite place down in La Push. So while Bella and Jacob continued their little dance, and the pack introduced Quil into the ranks after he shifted for the first time, you bypassed all that drama by driving yourself to Emily's whenever you had any free time.
Parking in front of Emily's, you grab up the two to-go trays and cardboard drink holder from your passenger seat. You manage to hop out without dropping anything and walk up her porch steps.
"Knock, knock!" You call out since your hands are full. "I'm coming in, so if Sam's shorts are around his ankles he better pull them up before I catch an eye full!"
Emily barks out a laugh as she makes an appearance, meeting you just as you manage to open the screen door with your foot. "Sam and the others are on patrol."
"Good. As much as I joke, I'd probably pee myself if I ever cockblocked the alpha wolf."
She smiles in amusement at you. "Never change, YN. Never change."
"I don't plan on it. Now," you state, setting everything down on the table, "I hope you haven't eaten because one of the guys at the drive-in gave me an extra meal." You open up one of the trays to show her. "I have an extra cheeseburger and some cheese fries."
"Ohh. It's been a while since I've had a good cheeseburger," Emily says. The two of you take a seat at her table and she pulls a tray in front of her. You also pass her one of the sodas and then you dig in. "Why'd they give you an extra meal?" You momentarily freeze at her question, your gaze clashes with hers, and then you take a big bite out of your burger to keep from answering. She slowly grins. "YN, what did you do?"
You sheepishly cover your mouth since you're still chewing. "Nothing."
"Bull."
You continue to chew, washing it all down with some Coke. "Well there might or might not have been some guy that's been angling for a date, and I might or might not have agreed."
Emily's smile falters. "You're going on a date with him?"
"Well, yeah." You shrug and eat a bit more. "He's a fun guy, makes me laugh," you tell her. "But I'm not really looking for anything serious. I think he's hoping to change my mind, but I won't. I'll grant him this one date so he can see I'm not all that interested in anything other than friendship."
The subject drops as you hear the familiar whoops and hollers of the approaching pack, and you grin as they all stumble in behind Sam. He immediately makes a beeline for Emily, bending down to kiss her and then steals a couple of fries from her tray. Embry and Jared attempt to ruffle your hair, and Paul merely nods at you.
Embry and Jared plop into the chairs on either side of you, but it's Embry who boldly reaches for a fry which results in you swatting his hand. He pulls his hand back, frowning. "What was that for?"
"I don't take from your plate, so you don't take from mine."
"Yeah, but Sam and Emily-"
"But Sam and Emily," you mock him, causing Jared and Paul to snicker at their brother. "Sam and Emily are doing the do. He's allowed to steal from her plate and vice versa."
Embry suddenly leers. "Well you and I-" Paul immediately slaps him upside the back of the head and you grin.
"Not happening, Cujo."
"You're so mean when you're not high," Embry mumbles.
"Really? And here I thought I was a delight."
Emily ends up serving Sam some of the lunch that was on the stove while letting the other boys have a go at it after she sits back down. Lunch is a loud affair and for the time being you're absolutely happy.
You get halfway through your cheeseburger- it was a big cheeseburger, after all- and a few fries before you start slowing down. The boys take notice and you roll your eyes while gesturing for them to have at it. Paul snatches the half burger before anyone else and you laugh as the other two grumble while digging into the cheese fries.
"Thank you for lunch, YN," Emily tells you once she's finished. "Even if you had to agree to a date for it."
You don't take notice of it, but Paul freezes and the other three males glance worriedly at him. You, however, laugh as you shake your head at your friend. "You make it sound like I pimped myself out for a free meal."
"Didn't you?" The harshness of the words make you freeze and the look on Paul's face makes you gulp.
"No." You frown. "I was given the food before I even accepted the date." Paul scoffs and suddenly you find yourself getting angry. "What is your problem? Since I've met you you've barely strung together a full sentence to say to me, yet-"
"You are. You're my problem."
"Paul," Sam admonishes.
For barely knowing the guy, his words break your heart. But you school your features and pray nothing shows. "Ever since you and that goddamn leech lover showed up-"
"Paul, outside now!" Sam barks.
Paul's mouth snaps shut as he glares at you and he shoves back from the table in a huff. You flinch when the back door slams shut and immediately Emily is apologizing. "YN, I'm so sorry."
"Don't. Don't apologize for him." You flash her and the others a shaky smile as you stand up, collecting your trash to take to the bin. "I'm, uh, I'm gonna go ahead and head home."
"You don't-"
"I do." You smile sadly at her before addressing Sam. "I'm sorry if I made him uncomfortable with my presence. It wasn't my intention to do so."
"You did nothing wrong," Embry grumbles, but one sharp look from Sam quiets him.
When Sam glances back at you, his whole demeanor softens. "Embry's right. It's not you, it's Paul. He's got some.. issues to work through, but he was in the wrong to take it out on you. I'll talk with him."
"Don't even worry about it." And then desperate to get out of the conversation, you glance back at Emily and say, "I'll call you later. Thanks for having me over."
Then before anyone can stop you, you rush from the house and out to your Jeep.
Tumblr media
You end up calling Emily two days later, but make excuses to prevent from going over to her house. Thankfully school keeps you busy, but it was only a matter of time before you were pulled back to La Push.
It's dark out when your phone rings, Emily urging you to get to her house because apparently one of the Cullens came back and whisked Bella off to Italy.
Clad in only a too large sweatshirt that falls off one shoulder, flashing the strap of your sports bra, and a pair of flimsy cotton sleep shorts, you shove your feet into a pair of sneakers before shouting at your parents that you'll be at Emily's and would probably be back super late or the next day.
When you get to Emily's, you hurriedly park and climb out of your Jeep. Jogging up to her house, you enter without knocking and find everyone sitting around as Jacob angrily paces around the room. When he spots you, Jacob rushes towards you and it makes you stumble back into the wall at his fast approach.
Hands grab onto your bicep and you stare up, wide-eyed, at Jacob. A low, warning growl from behind him makes the two of you tense, but Jacob pays it no mind. "Your friends with the leeches. Call them. Find out what the hell is going on."
"Jacob!" Sam barks. "Hands off. Let YN sit so we can figure out what's going on."
Jacob reluctantly backs off and Emily rushes to your side, quietly making sure you're okay. You smile weakly at her to assure her you are, and then nod at each of the boys who are intently watching you.
"What's even happening?" You ask. Emily retrieves you a glass of water and you smile in thanks at her.
"Those goddamn-"
"Bella," Sam says, speaking over your friend, glaring at him to defy some unspoken thought. He quiets down with a huff and lets Sam speak. "Bella went cliff jumping that resulted in Jacob having to retrieve her from the water. After taking her home, he smelled a leech nearby. Bella recognized the vehicle belonging to one of the Cullens."
"They're back?" You frown.
"Just one," Jacob grumbles. When Sam glares at him, he eventually nods to let him continue the story since he was there. "The small one," he clarifies.
"Alice," you realize.
"But then Edward called and asked for Charlie, and I told him he was out planning a funeral. I guess he thought I meant Bella's and apparently he was going to the vampire royalty so they could kill him."
"Jesus," you mumble, rubbing the spot between your eyebrows. "So why did Alice whisk Bella away then?"
"Because she thinks if they get there in time then Bella can stop Edward from killing himself."
"Do you have any idea about what's going on?" Sam asks. "Any little detail can help. Especially with the vampire royalty they're now speaking of."
You shake your head. "I'm sorry, Sam, I don't." Paul scoffs at his side and you frown at him before giving Sam your full attention once more. "I didn't even know what the Cullens were until after the altercation between Paul and Bella."
"Is there any way to get a hold of them to see if they know anything?" Jacob asks.
"I only have three of their numbers, but they were all disconnected when they moved away."
"Try again," Jacob says.
Glancing at Sam, he nods in agreement. So with a quiet sigh, you pull out your phone from the large pocket in the front of your sweatshirt to scroll through the contacts. You click on Alice's name, but it merely rings once before going to voicemail. "That's new," you mumble. You then scroll down to Edward's name, but his automatically goes to voicemail. "Alice and Edward are a no-go. Let's see about Emmett."
Emmett's number rings once and then twice, and you hurriedly put the call on speaker. It rings twice more before it clicks over.
"I knew I was your favorite."
Your lips twitch in amusement. "Hardly, Dracula. I believe your wife and Jasper are my favorites in your little coven."
The line goes quiet and then, "You know."
"Yeah, I know," you muse. "But that's not what I'm calling about. I'm calling about Bella and why the hell Alice thought it was a good idea to take her out of the country."
There's a brief shuffle on the line before someone else takes over. "Hello YN, it's Carlisle."
"Hello Doctor Cullen."
"May I inquire as to how you found out about our true nature?"
"Sure, but after you explain what Alice and Bella are doing. Jacob is freaking out over here."
Carlisle lets out a soft sigh. "It's to my understanding that my son believed Bella to be dead. With our kind, to lose one's mate, it makes us do foolish things."
"Mate?!" Jacob snarls. He starts to shake uncontrollably and Paul grips him by the shoulder.
"Get him out of here. Now!" Sam demands.
You sigh and then apologize. "Sorry, Carlisle. Please continue."
"With Bella believed dead, Edward wished to join her. He went to the Volturi in hopes they would kill him."
A pad of paper gets held in front of your face and you read a question that had been penned. "Who are the Volturi?"
"They're basically kings in our world. We have to abide by their rules."
"Oh. Okay."
"Now if you don't mind answering my question," Carlisle says.
Sam nods at you and you tell him. "Some of the Quileutes have shifted. When Bella confronted one of them and angered him to the point of shifting, we were both brought back to one of their houses. Since they knew Bella knew of the Cold Ones, they figured it was the same for me. It was by accident I learned about you. Sorry."
"Apology is not necessary," Carlisle chuckles softly. "You have been a trusted friend of this family since Edward met Bella. I'm just sorry you have been brought into all of this."
"Well thank you, Carlisle. I should go, but if you hear any updates, can you please let me know?"
"Of course. Goodnight, Miss YLN."
Just as you hang up, a howl pierces the air. Everyone tenses, but it's the pack who rushes for the door. And before he exits, Sam pauses and looks back at you. "Stay here. Don't leave until we get back."
"Yeah. Okay." As the pack rushes off, you yawn and stand from the table. Glancing at Emily, you ask, "Can we move to the sofas? I'm a little tired."
"Yeah. Of course." She follows you into the living room, handing you a blanket after you toe off your shoes and then curl up in the corner of her sofa. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?" You snuggle down, smiling contentedly.
"With the way things are looking, the coven of Cold Ones might be coming back to Forks. If they do, you'll be going to school with them while they know that you know their secret."
"It'll be fine," you assure her. "After hearing the Quileute legends, I know you're not fond of the vampires, but they treated me perfectly well before. And that was because they knew I knew something was inhumane about them. I just never cared to figure out what."
"You're a lot braver than I am," Emily muses.
"Not really. I was just too high and too hungry to care about other people's issues."
Emily grins as she watches you slowly drift off. "Get some sleep, YN. I'll wake you when the others get back."
"M'kay."
Emily tidies up while she has the time. The pack is busy with whatever either Jacob or Paul howled about and you're fast asleep on her couch.
Eventually, once everything is as clean as she can get it, Emily curls up on her sofa chair with the television playing on low. She gets through a couple of FRIENDS episodes before she hears the screen door opening and she sits up.
Sam, Paul and Jared enter the house.
"What happened?" Emily asks. She's addressing Sam, but her gaze falls to Paul whose shoulders sag when he sees YN fast asleep.
Sam catches her stare, grinning. "Jacob caught the scent of a leech on the res. We followed it all the way to Forks, but we're needed here more than there. What about here? She hear anything yet?" Sam asks, gesturing to you.
"No." Emily shakes her head. "She fell asleep right after you guys left, but her phone's been quiet."
"Well there's no use in waking her," he says. "Might as well put her in the guest room for the night."
"I got her," Jared says, only to be stopped with Paul's arm across his chest.
"Like hell you do."
Jared slowly grins. "Why not? YN's a friend of the pack. And besides, it's not like you want her. You made that perfectly clear when you imprinted and fled the kitchen in a huff."
Paul growls, body vibrating.
"That's enough," Sam says, voice hard. "Paul, get YN to the room. Jared, knock it off."
Paul smirks then and Jared rolls his eyes as his brother steps closer to the couch you're asleep on. Carefully, Paul then picks YN up into his arms, one arm under your back and the other under your knees. As he shifts you in his arms and your head lolls to rest on his shoulder, he has to bite the inside of his cheek as you mumble, "Stupid raccoon took my potato," in your sleep.
Emily places a hand over her mouth to stifle her giggles and Sam shakes his head in amusement.
"Did she just talk in her sleep?" Jared muses. "Oh my god. We need to record her."
"No." Paul marches off then, careful not to bang your head on the walls or door jamb to Emily's spare room.
It takes Paul a few minutes to get you situated under the blanket all the while making sure you didn't wake. Then when he's done, he takes a step back to watch you snuggle into the comfort of the bed.
"It's not so bad, you know." Emily's quiet words startle him. "Having an imprint isn't the end of the world."
Paul sighs and turns his back on the bed. "It is when you didn't want the bond in the first place."
"Trust in the Fates." Emily smiles as she reaches up, cupping Paul's face in her hand. "They give you boys an imprint for a reason. Just give her a chance."
He says nothing in response because he knew there would be no reasoning with Emily who had embraced the imprint after Sam explained it to her, and she walks off. Paul never wanted to find his, hoping that Sam was just a rare occurrence, but then he had to go and imprint in Emily's kitchen after he tried to attack his imprint's friend. At first, he was livid, but the restless nights proved he was going to have to talk to you sooner or later.
He makes his way back to the living room to find only Sam and Emily. He asks if he can sleep on the couch for the night and Emily lets him, and then he lays down on the same couch YN had been on.
Hours later, you're waking in an unfamiliar room. Through the opened curtains, you can see the sky barely turning pink with the impending sunrise. Yawning, you stretch in the bed you find yourself tucked into and then reach into the pocket of your sweatshirt under the blanket. You pull out your phone, finding a missed text message from Alice who told you that everything was fine, and the entire family would be back to Forks soon.
Stretching once more, you sit up in bed and practically hold your breath as you see someone pass by the opened bedroom door. The person backtracks and you heave a sigh of relief when you see it's Emily.
"You're awake!" She smiles. "I'm about to start breakfast. Why don't you wash up and come join me?"
"Yeah. Okay," you mumble.
As you stumble out of bed and into the bathroom down the hall, you head straight for the bathroom closet for the bin that holds the spare hygiene products you kept there. You place the bin on the counter space, pulling out your toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash. Then after making sure your mouth is all minty fresh, you quickly brush out the tangles in your hair and then tie it up in a messy bun. You wash your face last before putting the bin of supplies back in the closet, and then make your way to the kitchen.
"Sleep okay?" Emily asks as you take a seat at the table.
Smiling lazily at her, you nod. "Yeah. Sorry about the sleepover. You should have woken me up."
"It's fine. None of us wanted you to drive home so late at night." She places a cup of coffee in front you and you readily pick it up, blowing on the steaming liquid.
"So what happened?"
"There was a vampire on our land. The pack chased her away, but they weren't comfortable waking you and sending you on your way. I hope you don't get in trouble for staying last night."
"It's fine. My parents love you and I told them that it was likely I wouldn't be home until today anyway."
"Oh. Okay. Eggs?"
"Scrambled, please."
You slowly sip your coffee as Emily cooks and then she's setting a plate of scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast on the table in front of you. She has a plate for herself and the two of you happily dig in.
Halfway through breakfast, a tan arm comes into your line of sight and steals a piece of bacon from you. You're still too sluggish to do anything about it, but you do manage to look up and glare at the culprit. Your glare falters, however, when you find Paul smirking down at you.
"Dick," you mumble. Emily chokes on her coffee and Paul chuckles as he takes a seat next to you. When he reaches for your plate again, you're prepared and swat at his hand. "Stop it. S'not nice."
Sam appears at the table then, yawning as he takes a seat. Emily quickly gets up to make them their breakfast and then soon enough the only sounds in the kitchen are that of the forks clanking against the plates.
After your second cup of coffee and a text message from your mother asking if you could do the grocery shopping when you get in, you decide to head home. You help Emily gather dishes, drying after she washes, and thank her for breakfast and letting you stay over.
As you're heading for the door, you feel pressure at your elbow and look over your shoulder to see Paul right behind you.
"Come on. I'll walk you."
You frown at him, wondering what the hell is going on through his head to give him a change of heart towards you, and glance at Emily to make sure she's seeing what you are. But Emily, nor Sam, are any help as they hide smiles behind their mugs of coffee and refuse to meet your gaze.
"Okay..?" Paul releases your elbow, following behind you as you head towards your jeep. You try to put his odd behavior out of your mind, but just as you open the door and climb into the driver's seat, he stops you from closing the door. Again, you frown at him. "What?"
Paul steps back, hands going to the pockets of his jean shorts. "It's just- with the Cullens coming back, we can't patrol Forks anymore."
"Because of the treaty, right?" You ask, trying to recall what you remember hearing from the bonfire stories.
"Yeah. And with them back, I can't protect you."
"Why-"
"Just promise me something? Watch your back with the leeches," he says, speaking over you in a rush. "They say they eat animals, but they can easily slip and murder a whole town."
You open your mouth to defend the Cullens, but Paul turns on his heel and marches off back towards the house. Speechless, you watch him disappear inside before pulling yourself together and starting your Jeep.
Paul Lahote was seriously giving you whiplash, and you didn't know what to make of him anymore.

The Cullen and Hale family return as expected, and Edward and Bella continue their relationship as if the last few months hadn't happened. Jacob and the rest of the pack were the only ones who were absolutely against their return, and it was no surprise that Bella was instantly put between Jacob and Edward.
Those two fought over Bella like she was the shiny new toy, and you sat back to watch everything unfold. Once or twice they tried dragging you into their petty argument over who was better for Bella, but you never entertained them and wisely kept your mouth shut.
For some reason, Paul is even more amped up around you, sneering and scowling and muttering how you smell like a leech now that they were back in school. But by now, you're used to his attitude and merely let his words go in one ear and out the other.
Unfortunately, you can only keep your cool for so long.
"Do you have any plans this weekend?" Emily asks. She's whipping up some batter for muffins while you lean against her counters, the pack sitting at the table talking amongst each other.
"I do, actually. Rosalie wants to go shopping, but she knows if she asks Alice then Alice will invite Bella, and Rosalie is not a fan."
"A leech?!"
Emily winces and you roll your eyes with a huff as you turn your attention to the now quiet table. "Yes, Paul, the Cold One."
"I thought I told you to be careful around them and now you're spending the day alone with one of them?" He practically seethes. "What the hell are you thinking!?"
"I'm thinking that I can spend the day doing a little retail therapy, that's what I'm thinking."
"They could kill you!"
"So could you!" You finally snap.
"Oh shit. Now you've done it," Jared muses. "YN never raises her voice."
"Both species are dangerous, but I don't see you warning me off the res," you say. "So what the hell is the real issue here?"
"YN, I don't think-"
"No, Em," you cut her off, lowering your voice and shaking your head at her. "I'm done. I'm tired of the attitude and belittling, and now I think it's time for answers." Turning back towards Paul, you ask, "So what is it? You obviously don't like me much, which is fine, but you are so dead set against me hanging out with my friends. So why?"
Paul's glaring at you, but you refuse to avert your gaze. You want answers and you want them now.
"Just tell her, man," Embry says. "This has been going on long enough."
You have no idea what he's talking about, but apparently Paul does. His glare is briefly directed at Embry before turning back to you, and eventually his shoulders sag. "You're my imprint."
"I have no idea what that means."
"You're basically his soulmate," Jared says. "The Fates decide that there is one person perfect for us. So whatever you need, Paul can become it- friend, brother, or lover." He wiggles his eyebrows at you, but his words earn him a slap upside the head from Sam.
Your eyes subtly widen and you stand a little straighter. "W-What?"
"I didn't want you." You rear back as Paul's words instantly make your chest ache. Something must flash across your face because his own eyes widen. "No, I didn't mean-"
"You did." You cross your arms over your chest, holding yourself together. "And i-it's okay. I get it, I think."
"YN.." Paul stands, but you quickly shake your head at him.
"You wanted the choice to pick, am I right? And the Fates took it out of your hands." Your eyes tear up and you quickly glance to your side so he doesn't see you cry. Emily, however, looks just as heartbroken as you feel. "I, uh, I think I should go."
"Are you sure?" She asks.
"Definitely." You flash her a feeble smile. "I'll text you when I get home." As you make your way towards the door, from the corner of your eye you see Paul reach for you. But before he can even touch you, you pull away from him. "Don't."
You walk out the door, not bothering to look back.
Inside Emily's house, all is quiet. Everyone can hear the sound of YN's Jeep starting and driving off.
"That was cruel, even for you, man." All eyes are on Jacob as he digs his phone out of his pocket.
"What are you doing?" Paul asks.
"Texting Bella to have her check on YN. Thanks to Emily we know our imprints feel a bit of the bond and you flat out just told yours that you didn't want her."
"I didn't mean it like that! She didn't let me explain."
"Why should she?" Finished with his text, he looks up to meet Paul's gaze. "You've treated her like crap since you've met her. You should've spoken to her a long time ago about the imprint, like we told you, so you could avoid this exact mess. You didn't and now you get to lie in the bed you've made."
Jacob stands and Paul tenses when he notices his packmate heading for the back door. "Where are you going?"
"To patrol and then to go check on my friend."
To be continued..

Paul Lahote x Reader Imprinting
@baylexxxx this is WAY longer than you were probably expecting but I got so into it! please enjoy. I’m totally down to add a part 2 to this…perhaps a very spicy one…
The Imprint
Jesus, (y/n), you really gotta slow it down next time
Jacob’s surprised and slightly exasperated voice filled your thoughts.
You were still struggling with the concept of constantly having another person’s thoughts in your mind. Hell, you were still getting used to being a shapeshifting werewolf, for crying out loud.
You had accidentally tackled Jacob in your process of shifting into a wolf, it being only your fifth time ever shifting. You were struggling with controlling your impulse and intentionally shifting on purpose, as the first time you’d shifted had been unexpected - and quite painful.
You ran through the trees, following behind Jacob who was several hundreds yards ahead and leading you to the top of the cliffs where the wolves often came together for pack meetings. You felt your massive paws hitting the mossy forest floor with great force, and it felt so effortless. Your strong canine body moved without resistance, muscles pushing you forward in ways you’d never experienced in your human body. It was addictive.
You were living with your father, Jack, down at La Push, who’s been estranged from the rest of your family for quite some time. He never wanted to leave La Push due to his familial and tribal ties, and your mother took you with her when she left him, never truly understanding or caring for your father’s heritage with the Quileutes. After years of a rocky and bitter relationship with your mother, you left New York three weeks ago to reconnect with your father, only to be met with the shocking reality of your genetic inheritance. Your mother had hid much of your father’s past from you, never telling you where he was, and never wanting you to reconnect with him. You had done months of searching online, and finally found distant relatives, eventually leading you back to your long-lost father in La Push. Now, you knew what she was so afraid of. And you despised her for it. Embracing your true identity had brought you to the happiest, albeit confusing and shocking, place you’d ever known.
Sorry Jake, think I’m still getting used to the feeling…you thought back in response to his complaint about your less than perfect shifting.
Don’t worry, (y/n), we’ve all been there! Seth’s sweet and calm voice filled the silence, and you could feel Jacob getting annoyed with the fact that Seth had phased in order to tag along with you on your patrol.
Seth, aren’t you supposed to be at Leah’s engagement party? Jacob thought back.
Psh, they won’t even know I left! Leah’s still drooly over Kai, she doesn’t notice anything else around her half the time.
You started pondering the idea of Leah being so head over heels for her recent fiancé, and due to the boys being able to hear your every thought and feeling, Jacob picked up on your questions quickly.
Imprinting does that to you, (y/n). It’s weird for us to see her so mushy too. We didn’t even think Leah COULD imprint.
Yeah, she finally has someone to put all her love into who actually wants it, I sure am happy for her Seth’s sweet tone and emotion filled the space, and you could feel the brotherly love he had for her emanating from him.
Huh…you thought to yourself, interesting how you and Leah were the only two female wolves in the pack. And here Leah had imprinted, something they were unsure she’d ever be able to do. You wondered if that meant that you could ever…
You bet your ass you can. Jake’s thought broke you from your internal dialogue.
Ugh. I REALLY don’t enjoy having a couple of men in my head and knowing my every thought. Now I get what Leah meant when she said she was grateful to have another girl around here now.
Oh, please. Jacob thought back sarcastically as he began slowing down his pace in front of you. Light broke through the trees and you could now hear Seth’s heavy paws hitting the soft ground behind you as he came up from lower on the mountain. Jacob shook out his russet fur and huffed, stepping into the clearing in front of you. You looked down at your paws, and wondered if you looked as cool as Jacob did as a wolf. Silly to be self conscious even in wolf form, but you were still you…
Don’t worry (y/n), you’re a pretty sick lookin wolf Seth thought in response to your pondering.
Embarrassed at the boys hearing your mind’s vulnerable worries, you tried changing your train of thought.
Yeah, honestly, you are kinda badass looking… Jacob thought, amused at your attempt to backtrack.
Jacob’s compliment peaked your curiosity and you huffed at him, poking his thick furred side with your muzzle playfully as you now came up beside him at the edge of the cliff face.
Jacob’s rich brown wolf eyes met yours, and you saw the familiar boyish, impish, twinkle in them that was so prominent in his human form. You thought back to the first time seeing yourself in wolf form after your second ever shifting, in the reflection of the large living room window of the Blacks’ house in the backyard. Your fur was a soft pearlescent white, with a rich black undercoat, causing your fur to look multi-dimensional and to change tone in different lighting. Your ears were black-tipped, as if they’d been dipped in paint, and your golden wolf eyes glowed against the stark white backdrop of your face.
You flirting with me, Black? You thought back jokingly, trying to deflect from the compliments.
Jacob barked an unbothered laugh in response, shaking out his massive head and flicking his large muzzle towards the cliff face, directing you to keep moving.
Seth was right behind you now, and you were getting a hang of recognizing each of the wolves’ personal scents. Seth’s was musky and sweet, sweeter than Jacob’s, who had more of an earthy note to it.
Hear that, Jake? A girl thinks I smell better. Ha!
You rolled your eyes at the boyish mocking and tried to focus on the task at hand, memorizing the lay of the land around La Push.
You spent the next few hours with Seth and Jacob, running through the trees and taking in new scents, exploring this new world of beauty and heightened senses that you would’ve never thought possible before.
Later that evening, at the Blacks’ house:
The boys had shifted back first, leaving you to be in your wolf form by yourself for a few minutes as they headed into the house, so that you could shift without worrying about being naked in front of them. Maybe one day you’d be able to do it like Leah, without freaking out. You focused and closed your eyes. You began to breathe evenly and intentionally, urging your body to return to its natural state. You shuddered and gasped as your body transformed and phased back to your human form, your body tingling and burning with the sensation. It truly was a bit painful and jarring, and you wondered if that would ever really go away. You grabbed the loosely stacked clothing that was folded up at the bottom of the big pine tree by the edge of the yard, and hid behind the tree as you swiftly put the soft black sweatpants and hoodie on, eager to not be ass naked in the middle of the woods anymore. You shook your long hair out and grabbed the brown utility boots sitting on the pine-needle blanketed forest floor, pulling them onto your feet and jumping slightly as you gathered your balance on one foot to do so.
Finally, you felt put together enough to be able to join the others. With a huff, you stuffed your hands into your front hoodie pocket and walked across the vast yard towards the house, out from the tree-line. The Blacks’ house was glowing with warm light from within, string lights hanging down from the beams over the back porch. You smiled to yourself as you thought of how beautiful your new home was, here in La Push. Your Dad’s house was only a few houses down from the Blacks’. It was so different from New York, and you were grateful for that. Greenery and trees were everywhere you looked. You breathed deeply, letting the smooth and clear mountain air fill your lungs. You’d never get tired of that. You looked over to the Blacks’ driveway and saw your Dad’s blue truck, causing a smile to light up your face. You skipped more eagerly towards the back door of the house, happy to see your Dad after the exhausting day. After years without a father in your life, and only the crappy flaky men your mom brought around, having your dad in your life was incredible. He had missed you so much, and had been searching endlessly for you, too. Your mom had blocked his number and taken you without much notice, knowing that his loyalty to the tribe would ensure he never strayed too far from La Push to search for you. He had lived alone for years, until only two years ago when he had met and imprinted on his wife, Nayla. You were glad he had someone, and were even more grateful that he was ten times the parent you had ever expected him to be. He was your guiding light when you first arrived to La Push three weeks ago, and when within days you had developed an intense fever that had knocked you on your ass, causing you to be bed-bound for a week. He had explained the stories of the tribe to you, stressing the importance of not resisting the natural changes your body was going through, and trusting in yourself to remain calm. Your dad was in his fifties now, and had left his days of shape shifting behind a few years ago, leaving the wolf duties to the several twenty-something’s and teenagers that were rapidly joining the pack after the Cullens came through town.
You pulled open the old, heavy wooden backdoor and stepped into the warmly lit kitchen.
The scent of something savory filled your nose, and your mouth watered. You hadn’t realized how hungry you’d been after adventuring through the mountains all day.
“Hey, there she is! What’s up kiddo?,” your Dad entered the kitchen through the large entryway to the living room, a wide grin on his tan face.
You smiled back, pausing in front of the sink to turn to him.
He strode forward to hug you, swinging you back and forth slightly. It still amazed you how large the Quileute men were, and you smiled at how your height made so much more sense to you now; being 5’10 and lanky never really added up, your petite mother only 5’5 and shrinking at that. Knowing your height was something your dad gave you genetically caused you to feel a pride in it you’d never quite felt before.
“Hey, Dad,” you said back lightly, hugging him in return and groaning out a strained, “Okay- Too! Tight!”, when his massive arms became a bit too restrictive. He pulled away, standing back and putting his hands on your shoulders, eyeing your face from a distance.
“Well, now, how was your first patrol, huh?,” he said with another toothy grin.
You rolled your eyes and smiled again, trying to avoid letting your Dad see any of your new-pack-addition anxiety.
“It was, ya know, pretty cool,” you said with a nonchalant shrug.
“Yeah, right, you were lovin it (y/n)! Sniffing all over the place and running around like a rocket. Just admit it, you think it’s super cool,” you heard Jacob’s taunting, booming voice come from the living room, and several different laughs echoed into the kitchen along with his.
You felt heat flush to your face, and turned toward the counter to see where the good smell was coming from. You heard your dad’s low chuckle from behind you.
“Listen, kid, I’m glad it’s going well. If anything’s ever bothering you, let me know, alright?,” Your dad said casually, clearly trying to play off how much he loved finally playing a parental role in your life. His hand gently squeezed your shoulder. You turned to shoot him a warm, grateful smile.
“Thanks, Dad. I will,” you replied.
He gestured toward the oven, “Warm lasagna in there for ya, too,” He said before bending down to grab a beer from the fridge and heading back with a content sigh towards the living room, cracking the can open loudly.
You piled a double serving of the deliciously aromatic lasagna onto your plate, feeling more ravenous by the second. You took your plate and a fork and headed into the living room where Jacob, Seth, Billy, your dad, Sam & Emily, and Leah & Kai were lounging and eating as well, all surrounding the large tv and a crackling log-fire in the fireplace. You eyed the room, looking for somewhere to settle in. Seth met your eyes and grinned from across the room. He scooted over on one of the dark green couches and moved his plate of lasagna into one hand so that he could pat the spot next to him with the other. You felt yourself flush pink again and headed over to the couch, gratefully taking the spot next to him and starting to chow down on your dinner.
You spent the next couple of hours laughing and chatting with the lot of them, and after a while your Dad said his goodnights and headed home, Billy went to his room, and Leah and Kai were in the kitchen baking multiple batches of brownies. Your interest was immediately spiked when Sam mentioned the rest of the pack’s return.
“Yeah, the guys should be getting back pretty shortly now,” you heard Sam mumble to Emily and Jacob as they sat on the floor in front of the fire.
You had been told when you first became aware of your newfound family that several of the pack’s members were away, in their human forms and traveling up to Canada. Jacob had told you that the pack had come across some news of other wolfpacks living up in the Northern Yukon area, and they had wanted to see if the stories had any validity to them.
You looked up as you heard Sam’s comment. He was already glancing toward you, as were Emily and Jacob.
Suddenly, Leah’s face popped around the corner from the kitchen. “Oh great, (y/n), you’ll be meeting the rest of the pack tonight. Get ready for that,” Leah said with an eye-roll, leaning through the doorway to peek in at you. Her hands were covered in flour and she had the white powder dusted across her blue shirt. Her fiancé, Kai, appeared next to her in the doorway. He chuckled and threw his large arm around her shoulder, tugging her against him, causing her exasperated expression to soften and turn into one of warmth and devotion.
“That bad, huh?,” you responded with a laugh.
Jacob shook his head, his mouth full of a bite of his third brownie of the night, “Nah. You’ve already met Jared and Quill, can’t get much more annoying…,” He cocked his head to the side then, narrowing his eyes and thinking, seeming to second guess his own words, “Well, actually, now that I say that-”
Seth interrupted Jacob to scoff and exclaim, “Oh please, you think Quill has anything on the wrath of Paul? She’ll wanna leave the pack by the time she gets a load of him….”
Jacob snickered in response, shoving the rest of the brownie into his mouth.
Sam’s stoic voice filled the room then, his normally wise tone laced with amusement now, “Cut it out, guys. Don’t scare her off.”
His gentle gaze turned to your face now, seemingly trying to gauge how seriously you were taking the boys’ warnings, “It’s just Embry, Paul, and Collin. They’re all fine. Embry and Collin are nice kids,” he finished.
Seth chuckled, and muttered under his breath, “See how he didn’t put Paul under that nice guy description?”
Sam’s eyes darted to Seth’s face, clearly having heard his comment.
“Paul’s got a… a temper, sometimes, that’s all. Easily provoked into phasing. He’s a rough around the edges kinda guy; we all put up with it,” Sam said curtly, shooting a look at Seth. You saw Emily crack a smile, her eyes flicking to yours. She had been so kind to you since your arrival, expressing her gratitude that more women were joining the pack, as she didn’t have many girlfriends in the reservation, and also liked the idea of some levelheaded females balancing out the testosterone-filled wolf pack. You gave her a warm and slightly timid smile.
Suddenly, a low and deep rumbling sound could be heard coming up the dirt road outside, and the rumbling could even be felt through vibrations in the floor of the house. You glanced over towards the big window next to the couch, and could see a large black pickup truck pulling up alongside Jacob’s Volkswagen Rabbit outside the house.
“Speak of the devil,” Jacob muttered under his breath, picking up the fire poker to adjust the logs in the fireplace with a sigh. The ringing sound of a timer going off flowed out from the kitchen.
“Brownies are done!,” Leah called from the kitchen, and Seth grinned at the announcement of the second batch of brownies of the night being almost ready.
“Jeez, wolves really can eat,” you mumbled, slightly annoyed at your own massively increased appetite since your transformation. Sam chuckled deeply.
“Gotta keep up with these bodies, (y/n),” Sam replied gently, patting his stomach, “It’s a blessing and a curse.”
Just then, the rumbling engine cut off, and the sound of a truck’s doors slamming and deep voices alongside heavy footsteps could be heard coming up the walkway towards the back door. You felt your heartbeat quicken, and internally wondered why you were feeling so nervous. Maybe it was because you were meeting more members of a pack you’d be part of for many years to come. Maybe you felt anxious to be good enough, one of the only two women in the male-dominated pack. You were going back and forth with your inner dialogue when the back door loudly swung open, creaking and slamming as the three massive men entered the small house.
“Yo, yo!,” You heard a baritone voice coolly ring out from the other room, and the sound caused goosebumps to raise across your arms. Two other male voices announced greetings, one of them commenting on the delicious brownie smell.
The backdoor of the home entered directly into the small kitchen, and you heard Leah and Kai greet the three boys. Although you could not yet see them due to the separation of the two rooms, they sounded like they took up a considerable amount of space in the tiny kitchen.
“Aw, damn it! I was hoping you’d stay in Canada forever,” you heard Leah’s playful voice exclaim.
A rough, deep chuckle sounded out from the kitchen, and again your body had an involuntary response, a twitch running through you and a shiver hitting your spine.
“Yeah, yeah, save it Leah. You missed me,” the same rough voice responded, and you almost gasped out loud at the odd familiarity the sound held. The voice was like velvet to your ears, and you felt a pang run through you, as if you had been shocked by a small electric sensation.
Seth glanced over at you from his spot next to you on the couch, eyeing you for a moment, before he hoisted himself up off the couch and casually walked over to the wide entryway into the kitchen. Sam and Emily stood up as well, eager to greet the boys. Jacob sat in front of the fire still, stoking the fire. He shot a glance over to you, and his eyes widened slightly.
“You good, (y/n)?,” He asked curiously, his voice quiet and slightly alarmed. You locked your eyes with his. You must’ve looked a little off, judging by Jacob’s brow suddenly furrowing in confusion and concern. You felt extremely comfortable with Jacob; he was one of the pack Alphas, and he had helped guide you through your first few phasings with such calm leadership and praise. He made you feel inherently safe due to his confident and empathetic presence. Maybe it was for that reason, or due to the fact that he’d already been inside your brain and known your thoughts and feelings for days on end now, that you felt the ability to speak your mind.
“I-… I’m not sure, I- I feel kinda… weird,” You whispered quietly, feeling your hands begin to sweat and become clammy. Jake’s eyes narrowed, and he stood up, brushing the ash from the fireplace off of the seat of his pants. He seemed to be about to speak again when the muffled and upbeat conversation in the kitchen suddenly mentioned your name, and you both paused.
“Yeah, the new addition. (y/n). She’s right in there, with Jake. Seth and him have been showing her the ropes,” Sam’s gentle voice rang out. There was silence, then a few muffled responses.
“Hey now, you didn’t tell us the new one was a girl, Sam! - So old man Jack does have a daughter? Damn, I always thought the guy was crazy when he said he had a kid somewhere and couldn’t find her…,” a new voice responded, a younger sounding and more upbeat tone. Collin, maybe? - you wondered to yourself. The voice didn’t have nearly the same effect that that first voice had just had on you, and you were anxiously waiting to hear it again, your subconscious desperate for the sound for some reason you couldn’t justify in your mind.
The muffled laughs cut off suddenly, and silence again fell across the house, this time filled with a tension that you felt oddly hyperaware of as you stared past Jacob at the lapping flames of the fire. A few brief moments passed, then Sam’s gruff voice sounded slightly alarmed, causing you to glance up from the fireplace. “You alright, Paul?”
You and Jacob both looked up at the same time towards the entryway to the kitchen, where a massively tall, well muscled and extremely handsome man stood, his impossibly large frame practically filling the wide doorframe.
He was holding a brownie in his hand, which within seconds was on the floor, his hand seeming to slip and not even register that it had dropped something, his fingers still outstretched as if the brownie remained within them.
His dark eyes were locked directly on you.
The moment your gaze met his, his expression became impossibly soft. It was filled with warmth, his cheeks suddenly flushing and his features smoothing. His lips parted slightly, and a huff of air escaped from his mouth.
Your heart and lungs felt like they no longer knew how to function. You heard a small, sharp gasp, and it took a moment before you realized it had come from your own mouth.
A familiarity surged through you, coursing along your skin and underneath your flesh, an entirely foreign feeling pumping along your nerves. It felt as though this man was…. not a man, but a soul, standing before you. A soul you knew. A soul that had been waiting for you to come home this entire time - this entire time you’d been somehow existing without it. It felt as though you’d truly, really known him.
As if you’d known him since the beginning of time, though you had never laid eyes on him before. Logically, you knew that. You knew that you didn’t know him. And yet?
“Holy shit,” You heard Jacob whisper from across the room, as he stood still in front of the fireplace. It was clear he was witnessing the two of you, although you couldn’t really register that. You couldn’t feel your body, or the couch beneath you anymore. You couldn’t feel anything other than the reunion of your soul with his. You felt, for the first time, like a seedling, who had been stretching up through packed dirt for its entire existence, searching tirelessly and endlessly for the sun, never knowing why you were growing and reaching upwards without end, but knowing there must be something up there - something just for you. It was as if your entire being had been yearning for its own self, its missing half, and you’d had no idea. You yearned for him, you felt like you had missed him. Like you were reuniting with a love you’d known many forevers ago.
And here he was, standing before you.

A/N: pls why is this my favorite story so far 😫
let me know thoughts, & I hope you liked the plot! I’m incapable of writing short imagines, my brain is too overly detail oriented and it drives me insane but it’s so satisfying to bring it to life! I’d love to expand on this little imprinting and see where it goes ;) muahahah
Love u bye!

Something I think about a lot is how the way SM wrote the series affected how it turned out. We've talked a lot about the Forever/Breaking Dawn problem (Forever Dawn was originally the sequel to Twilight, THEN she went back and wrote New Moon and Eclipse, THEN re-worked Forever Dawn into Breaking Dawn), but another, lesser problem is how she wrote Twilight in the first place.
So she had that dream, right? Of the sparkling vampire and girl in a meadow, telling each other how much they loved each other but also how much he wanted her blood. So she wrote that down. Then she wrote from there to the end the book.
per her FAQ: "I started from the scene in the meadow and wrote through to the end. Then I went back to the beginning and wrote until the pieces matched up. "
And I think that explains some of the weirdness. Like, why on earth would the Cullens come back to the area in the first place? It's incredibly cruel to the Quileutes, and even if they don't care about that, it's still risky to the Cullens themselves. Why even chance moving back to the one place where people know what you are when you can live literally anywhere?
But when you realize SM wrote the Cullens in Forks first and then only came up with the shapeshifters in La Push idea, you're like "oh, they don't have a good reason to come back because they originally didn't need one, because she wrote this whole thing backward." She wrote the whole second half of the book; the visit to the Cullen house, the baseball scene, etc, before she wrote anything about Jacob and the wolves. She's said Jacob didn't exist until she needed a way for Bella to find out Edward was a vampire without Edward telling her, so I'm pretty sure there was no Jacob at the prom originally, because he didn't exist yet.
In terms of story-writing, she placed the Cullens there first and THEN appropriated the Quileutes to create the shapeshifters and then just . . . kind of never addressed the implications of the Cullens moving back to a place that they knew they were not wanted and was risky for them because, well, they are there now.
I wonder if some of the cover story weirdness comes into play here, too. If she did indeed already write prom, then of course they have to be in high school. She's already envisioned the Cullens, the house, the couples, Carlisle's and at least part of Esme's backstory, so all that's fixed in place when she goes back and tries to figure out how to explain it all to the human world and comes up with "uh they're like in their late 20s/early 30s and adopted teenagers. Who are all dating each other. Sure, that works."
Why are they in high school? Uhhhhh "the younger they start out the longer they can stay." Which, fine, but my hunch is "because I already wrote them going to prom," is probably the answer and she just had to work backward to justify it.
And like, no shade in terms of writing process! She was writing this for fun at that point. I just think it might have contributed to some of the problems.

What if Imprinting wasn’t a thing for the Twilight Quileute shapeshifters? Like, the shifting still happens, but no one imprints on anyone.
Canon remains essentially the same.
Sam and Leah are still together (as they were after Sam had shifted but before he imprinted). Leah eventually shifts herself and is relieved to find out just what the fuck was going on with Sam but has new problems called turning into a wolf all the time with these leering teenage boys who see her naked. I imagine she also feels she's becoming estranged from Emily, who is as close to a sister to her, who she can't tell any of this to. Leah's life still sucks, but it sucks in different ways.
Quil doesn't find himself in a relationship with a baby, he doesn't know it, but he would be very happy about that.
The major difference is that Jacob either attempts to kill Renesmee after her birth and succeeds in killing her and Rosalie (and then is probably killed by Emmett in vengeance) or Jacob fails and Bella wakes up to learn that Rosalie murdered Jacob because he was about to kill Renesmee (Bella of course wouldn't believe this and would blame Rosalie for the rest of her life).
Regardless, the Cullens then have to leave Forks as promised as Jacob doesn't pull his Charlie stunt to force them to stay. Without that, Irina likely doesn't come around unannounced, and so the trial doesn't happen.

Turning Page - Edward x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
TW: Death ,, Heartbreak ,, mentions of suicide ,,
Summary: Edward and reader have been friends for years, she knew about him and his family being vampires. Victoria comes back for revenge after James was killed by Edward and his family, so she takes away the only thing Edward loves; y/n. On his way to the Volturi, he meets a girl who looks exactly like her.
MASTERLIST CULLENS
-------------------------------------------------------
I've waited a hundred years
But I'd wait a million more for you
Nothing prepared me for
What the privilege of being yours would do
Edward regretted everything. He never knew spending time with Bella would cause y/n to lose her life, he never got to tell her how much he loved her. He never got to tell her, he wanted to be with her for the rest of his life. He never told her, she was his mate. Victoria chose to hurt y/n, a warning to Edward that she will be back for the revenge of her dead mate, James. He didn't know she would kill y/n, he thought the most she would do was turn her. But as the saying goes, a life for a life. Edward grieved for her everyday, his heart felt heavy, it was like he lost himself. He left Forks leaving everything behind, he was hoping the Volturi would end his pain. And off to Italy he went. Edward thought he saw her, but it was just a tourist. Everywhere he turned, he saw flashes of y/n. Her long h/c hair and bright e/c eye were something he would miss seeing everyday. Why did he think it was a good idea to be with Bella when Victoria was on the loose? Edward blamed himself for everything, if only he had spent the night with y/n instead, they could have watch a movie, read a book together. Anything would have been fine, spending time with her was all that had mattered to him.
If I had only felt the warmth within your touch
If I had only seen how you smile when you blush
Or how you curl your lip when you concentrate enough
I would have known what I was living for all along
Italy was a beautiful place, but all the red cloaks around Edward made him feel on edge. The Volturi were planning something but he didn't care to acknowledge it. He walked into the building, Felix and Demetri were waiting for him. They escorted Edward to the three vampire leader: Aro, Marcus and Caius. Aro, as usual, looked joyed to see the young fledgling stand before him. "Oh look at what we have here, young Edward Cullen. What might you need?" Aro's cold voice ripped through the air, his red beady staring intensely at Edward's form. Before he could tell them why he was here, a young girl came in, her black and red cloak sitting loosely on her shoulders. "I'm sorry to interrupt your meeting, but I need to speak to you, Aro." The confidence in her voice reminded Edward of his lost love. The young vampire even looked like her too. Wait. Was that y/n? Before he knew what he was doing, Edward was stood beside her. Her face in his hands as he examined every inch of her, it was her, it had to be. The young vampire was surprise, no one has ever reacted to her like that before. "Do you want us to remove him, Celeste?" With a flick of her hand, both her and Edward disappeared into thin air.
What I've been living for
Your love is my turning page
Where only the sweetest words remain
Every kiss in a cursive line
Every touch is a redefining phrase
They were now in a room, it had wall length bookshelves, a dark red leather arm chair and a piano. Edward notice something on the arm chair, a book that y/n loved to read: To the Lighthouse. She would go on for hours about how Virginia Wolf was an amazing writer and how he could've met her and he wouldn't have known. Edward smiled at the memory, picking up the book and flipping through it. A note fell out of it, he picked it up about to read it but a hand snatched it from him. "Did I allow you to touch my prized possession?" He knew the question was rhetorical, so he just hung his head low trying his best to avoid eye contact. The young girl sighed, she felt bad for hurting his feeling but he needs to learn boundaries and not go touching someone else's things. "I'm sorry for you loss, I know she meant a lot to you." Edward's head snaps up, his eyes trained on the girl in front of him. How did she know about y/n? Were the Volturi behind her death? "She was my sister, Edward. She would send me letters every month, telling me all about you. I was happy she found someone to love her, but y/n always thought you didn't love them back because of that human girl." If he could cry right now, he would be on the floor sobbing his heart out. How did he not know y/n's sister was Celeste? One of the most powerful members of the Volturi?
I surrender who I've been for who you are
For nothing makes me stronger than your fragile heart
If I had only felt how it feels to be yours
Well, I would have known what I've been living for all along
What I've been living for
They spent hours together, talking about their memories with y/n. It felt nice being able to talk to someone about her, Celeste wasn't able to see her sister, in fear of Aro or Caius killing her for finding out about vampires. "There was this one time when were we little, our mother was making us something to eat for lunch and y/n being the rebellious one out of us, she ran around the whole house getting mud and grass everywhere. Our mother was not proud." Soft giggles fell from her lips, Edward saw pieces of his mate in her, they were like one soul put into two people. He enjoyed being around her, it made him feel a little better, it was like he still had y/n with him. Celeste handed Edward the note she snatched from him earlier, she told him y/n wrote it for him. With that, she left, giving him space to read it alone.
"Dear Eddie,
If you're reading this, something has happened to me but fear not! I'm still here, well at least my soul is. I just wanted to write this for you so you will still have something of me when I'm gone. I love you, I always have. From the first moment I met you in the forest, I knew we were meant to be, you brought so much love into my life and I'm forever grateful. I'm sorry I can't be here with you right now, I know it's tough but you're strong, Eddie. I'll always be looking over you. I'm so proud of you, you've achieved so much throughout your life, you are the most astonishing boy I've ever had the privilege of knowing. Keep living your life, Edward, you're needed in this world. You will have a family one day and I promise you, I will never leave your side. Don't think of this as a goodbye, just think of it as I'm visiting my mom for a little while and we will be reunited in no time. I love you, Eddie, please never forget that.
Lots of love,
Y/N xx"
The pain Edward felt in his chest was unbearable, all he wanted to do was scream and cry to his hearts content. He would live for her, those were her wishes and he wouldn't go against them.
Though we're tethered to the story we must tell
When I saw you, well I knew we'd tell it well
With a whisper, we will tame the vicious seas
Like a feather, bringing kingdoms to their knees
-------------------------------------------------------
Random story I wrote awhile back, it's just been sitting in my drafts so I thought I might publish it and see how it goes. I hope you enjoyed reading it, have a lovely day/night !

𝐈 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐞! You have a very strong personality; yet you are so multidimensional. You still have a sensitive soul, and when people hurt you, it hurts a lot. Rosalie would keep your heart safe. Keep all of you safe. Additionally, there are things only some people will understand about you and I think Rosalie would definitely be one of those people.
𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒔
Shapeshifter (not like the Quileute Tribe). I don't believe this universe only has children of the moon (vampires) shapeshifters/werewolves. There are definitely more fantasy attributes!
So I think you would be a shapeshifting panther. (Initiually I was going to choose cat), but I think you have a lot more power than you think. Also, I honesly think it suits you.
When you spoke about your how much of a mother figure you are in your friend group, it also gave me the idea. Just you and your cubs <;3
Tumblr media
𝑷𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓/𝑨𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚
Shapeshifter
In your 'human' form, you have a keen sense of smell, sound, and are quite sensitive to touch. You have four canines on your top and bottom mouth (so two on the top, two on the bottom). And no matter how many times you trim your nails, they grow so fricken quickly (and sharply).
While in your panther form, it's the same. Especially your stomach, ears and nose - very very sensitive. (Belly rubs are appreciated, but only by Rosalie and those that you trust.)
𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒔
When you first met Rosalie, you were outwardly unfazed. But on the inside, your heart was beating so fast you thought it might explode.
Neither you nor Rosalie thought anything supernatural about you. It was like your magic didn't affect the other person at all.
On your first anniversary (officially being together because she hates putting labels on it), she gave you this beautiful necklace which you were everyday.
The necklace is an heirloom of Rosalie's and you nearly cried when you realised. She gave it to you so nonchanlantly. Not uncaringly, no not at all. But she didn't want to make it a big deal.
Rosalie tries not to make anything a big deal with you. She wants to make your life as easy as possible because of how much she loves you.
It may be crazy but Rosalie has an amazing sense of humor. It's very dry, and it comes from a place of intelligence and wittiness. She can make you laugh so hard with one comment.

She can't just have one favourite thing about you. Rosalie adores you; you are so important to her. You know her soul and she knows yours. There's like a pull towards each other and you know you have to be Mates.
Rosalie particularly likes the aspect of you where you like being treated like a princess. You tried to play it off for a while ("oh you don't have to do that!", "no no it's too expensive, you can't buy me that!")
Then you went with it. And you have every book you have ever wanted, in the edition that you desire.
You have jewellery, all the clothes you want, Rosalie basically gives you a new outfit every week. She just loves spoiling you!
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅
Alice & Bella! C'mon, you guys would be so close. Especially Bella and yourself. You can relate on desires; love reading and I feel like Bella would be a novelist - just like you'll be one day xxx
And with Alice ... god once you become apart of the family (which she knew would happen), you could not get her away from your side. She absolutely adores you.
I also have a surprise best friend for you -
Edward!
He can read your mind, and knows the kind thinks you have done and will do for others. He hears the bratty thoughts against people you hate and he feels a sense of kinship. (I feel like he'd be a lil gossip with you)
𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆
A mix of Bella, Angela and Esme. You have your motherly side, doting upon those you love. Making sure they're okay. I can so see you packing lunches for friends that don't have enough food. You just have a big heart.
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒕
There isn't a lot of lore around pets and vampires (but ... we can imagine why). However, Rosalie after all these years, would be able to keep herself under control when it comes to your pet.
She weighs up the pros and cons of ... her instincts and always sees the devastation on your face.
But you adopted the lil girl one day and haven't stopped loving her since.

The ability to change physical appearance at will. Yes, the same as Tonks. As she said to Harry: "Metamorphmagi are really rare, they're born, not made."
While another ability to transform at will, Animagi, they can only transform into one particular animal - determined by their inner traits.
By contrast, Metamorphmagi could take a wide variety of forms, changing gender and age, potentially looking like anyone at all, or even just changing a part of their appearance, such as the colour of their hair or shape of their noses.
𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒔
Ginny hated you initially. The usual gryffindor/slytherin rivalry was alive and ready to at any moment to burst.
But what she didn't realise was that her burning 'hate' was actually a burning desire for you.
Ginny reacted in the most Weasley way possibly - by pushing your buttons as much as possible.
But you weren't the stereotypical Slytherin (and many aren't). Because you welcomed the interaction; hesitatly at first. But ultimately shocked Ginny with your friendliness and kindness.
After being friends for a few months, she made you a friendship bracelet, for when you had to leave each other (mainly for holidays)
Ginny is literally your guard dog. She has scary dog privleges, so you don't have to worry about being alone or your safety whenever she's around. She is ready to THROW HANDS.

That's one of the ways you two became close - by bonding over your mutual hatred of Pansy Parkinson.
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅
I think you would be great friends with people outside of the Slytherin House. (It's kinda sad that we don't have more Slytherin characters) but I think you would have one best friend in your House.
Luna, Hermione, Padma Patil and Cho Chang. I feel like you would create some sort of Secret Hogwarts Bestie Group. You would sit outside, underneath a large tree, Luna dreamily looking at the sky, Hermione reading a book/studing, Padma gossiping with Cho and you feel like the mother hen.
𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆
A mix of Molly Weasley, Hermione Granger and George Weasley. Just very sensitive of people's needs; wanting to help others and lighten the load. You also love to read, and Hermione is a walking library, literally (I bet she has one of those mary poppins bags that's full of books - and she would gift it to you on your birthday).
I chose George as well because he's friendly, light-hearted, funny but knows when enough is enough. He holds grudges and has a very high intelligence.

You thought you were going to get an owl. A lovely barn owl that was in budget for your family. But you found this little guy and became obsessed with him.

Twilight Clown Takes—Part 6
In which Instagram vies with YouTube on which platform has the most clownery. Featuring even more Bella hate dumb, the ~~~Mormon influences in Twilight, and a lot of hate for Jacob/Renesmee, including a fundamental misunderstanding of imprinting. We feast tonight, on nom nom
Bella Hate Dumb
Tumblr media
Tell me you don’t know Twilight is a romance without telling me you don’t know Twilight is a romance.
Of course Bella’s life is going to revolve around her romance with Edward because Twilight is a romance! Her ambitions (which aren’t really many—just the vaguest idea of being a teacher or a librarian) aren’t important—hell, you could say the same thing about Edward! His entire existence constantly revolves around Bella and he constantly ditches his own family for her—even going off to commit suicide because of her.
And yet Edward, for all of his many whinging antis, is never accused of being a weak character. Creep or abusive, yes, but not weak. Wonder why? (The answer is misogyny).
Tumblr media
In every one of the examples Clown OP mentioned, the humans either have 1) supernatural or learned martial skills or 2) the monsters they are fighting against have weaknesses that humans can easily exploit.
In the Twilight universe, vampires are literally the humans’ predators with no exploitable weaknesses. Vampires are not harmed by garlic, stakes, crucifixes, or the sun, nor do they have need to stick to hunting at night. No human can outrun or hold their own against a vampire. A young and healthy Carlisle couldn’t even handle a weakened vampire. The only creatures that can hold their own against vampires are werewolves, either the Children of the Night or the Quileute shapeshifters.
Bella is neither of them, and until very recently only learned vampires are real. Very few humans know for sure of their existance. So no, you can’t use the “it’s not an excuse!!1!!1” excuse to justify your misogyny, Clown OP. You can bitch about how the vampires are overpowered all you like (I’ll even agree!), but Bella is not weak for not being able to fight against them. She literally cannot.
Tumblr media
Bella literally relates her life to classic literature in every book (Pride and Prejudice, Romeo and Juliet, Wuthering Heights, and Merchant of Venice), bitched about the thin selection of books at the Forks library, and nearly got raped looking for a good bookstore in Port Angeles (#relatable). She is a book girl, all right, and last time I checked, that is a hobby.
Also, Meyer hates Leah so much that she made her leave Sam behind and be free to become Jacob’s second-in-command and made Jacob learn to trust and respect her.
Tumblr media
Because Bella’s insecurity is totally not a thing she overcomes and conquers by the end of the series and it’s not framed critically by the narrative. Because Twilight doesn’t totally show Bella’s parentification and how her parents just made her their parent. All these things just do not exist because to Clown OP only the first book and the dumb film series exist.
Tumblr media
I literally read Life and Death not too long ago and there was essentially NO difference between Beau and Bella save in very minor details and (actually realistic) 2000s socialization. Beau’s “protectiveness” is largely emotional and ineffectual—it never actually serves a role in the story and Edythe dismisses it out of hand. He is not an active protagonist at all, or at least about as active as Bella is; he is still victimized in the latter half of the book and he even has to undergo a full vampire transformation.
Mormonism!!1!!1
Tumblr media
Oh, God, where do I start?
“Humans who became divine—” And who lust for human blood to sustain them. There is already a creature who must drink blood to survive, so use it. Hell, Meyer didn’t even make up the whole “vampires are so beautiful/seductive/seemingly angelic” trope; that is your most basic vampire lore since Dracula.
“Bella’s aversion to drinking, smoking, coffee/tea—” Because a 17-year-old in the 2000s would totally smoke. Bella doesn’t go to parties, as she is de facto the parent of her family, so no, she wouldn’t drink and as the daughter of a police chief she would not have been raised to drink. As for coffee and tea, these are simply not mentioned—a far cry from being an aversion. Hell, no drink other than water and maybe milk is mentioned in the series. Does Bella even mention liquids???? She only seems to describe meals. As it is, Bella does ingest caffeine—she drinks Coke. Also, kind reminder that Bella has no religion.
“Rosalie/Leah feel incomplete not having babies—” Rosalie is a ‘30s girl who wanted to be a trad wife, which includes having children. Leah is worried that not having her period would make her unable to have children—not that she necessarily desires them, but it is weird and disconcerting not to have that option anymore. Moreover, Leah was getting ready to marry Sam, so she may have expected a life together with children. But it makes sense for their characters to be alike in this way, since they are mirror characters.
Meanwhile trad wife Esme is perfectly fine with adopting and caring for others and Alice doesn’t even mention that side of humanity at all. The Denali coven includes a trio of single sisters who loved having sex with human men so much that they decided to go vegetarian—they obviously are not obsessed with babies.
Jacob/Renesmee Hate Dumb
Tumblr media
Apart from definitively resolving the love triangle, (thank God) Jacob’s imprinting on Renesmee stopped the Quileutes from attacking the Cullens after Bella gets bitten and changed—they have a law that prohibits harming a fellow werewolf’s imprintee. Moreover, it provides a much more firm alliance between the Cullens and Quileutes, thus resolving their rivalry/hate. But Clown OP doesn’t care about actual plot and theme resolutions, just the “ick” factor of the imprinting.
Meyer technically could have made the Cullens be forced to move after Bella’s becoming a vampire and have Renesmee and Jacob meet later. But I have a feeling that she didn’t expect to write more Twilight so she set up Jacob/Renesmee right away to dispel the love triangle once and for all. Given that Meyer got the idea of imprinting from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, that may have been her rationale.
That said, Jacob imprinting on Renesmee was a key plot point in Forever Dawn, the original sequel to Twilight, which did not have the love triangle—Jacob was just a platonic friend to Bella. Again, for plot and thematic resolutions, and perhaps for future set-ups.

Friendly reminder that movie canon is not canon and will never be because, ha, fuck the movies.
But! This does give me a chance to talk about imprinting in the books vs. the movies. Not only does Jacob never say anything of this sort to Edward in the books, but he doesn’t even have a reaction when he learns Renesmee will be fully grown in seven years. Edward confirms he doesn’t care and his feelings towards Renesmee are strictly platonic.
I read the official Twilight guide’s entry on imprinting—written very neutrally and very careful not to say anything about romance—and it basically confirms this:
If the human is young, the werewolf becomes the perfect platonic playmate and protector. As the human ages and changes, the werewolf instinctively switches roles to fulfill the human’s needs.
This implies that if the human doesn’t want to make the wolf a romantic partner, then the romance will simply not happen.
So what this shows me is that imprinting is not inherently a romantic phenomenon. The fact that Sam/Emily, Jared/Kim found each other in early adulthood and developed a romantic bond was because of the needs of Emily and Kim than Sam and Jared’s. Soulmates, after all, can be platonic.
So if Jacob/Renesmee ever become a thing, it would be because Renesmee herself would want it. Jacob would be incapable even to wish for anything more. In that sense, imprinting is the exact opposite of grooming: It is literally giving all the power to the imprintee.
The movies, quite frankly, fuck all this up. From portraying Jacob’s imprinting as a vision of Renesmee growing up (🤮 and not in the books) to his “joke” to Edward (stupid and 🤮 and not in the books) to Alice suddenly being able to have a vision Jacob and Renesmee together on the beach (in the books she cannot see werewolves or hybrids; this canon was broken by the movies for the fight scene with Meyer’s permission). So no, that is not how imprinting works.

If Carlisle introduced the Volturi to the original Quilute shifters, carefully and clearly emphasizing they aren't "children of the moon", how much of the plot of the books continues as is? Do the Volturi go searching for more supernatural beings they might have missed? Is this the start of another horrifying genocide or an uneasy peace?
I can't imagine Carlisle would do that. The Quileute want to live their lives in peace from vampires, they only phase to protect themselves. In no way would introducing the Volturi to the equation do anybody any good, Aro isn't going to get fun new members of his guard and the Quileute would despair. He would only be betraying the very tentative trust between his family and the tribe.
As it is I don't imagine Aro is doing anything about this. He already knows that there exist creatures other than vampires out there in the world, it's not a stretch of the imagination to guess there might be some he missed. The shapeshifters are living peacefully, however, protecting humans and keeping the secret. He has no fight with them.
Nothing happens.
