‘At Home’ explores the artist’s T4T relationship in moments of admiration. A story of queer joy, their existence together validates and affirms one another. Transcending typical levels of respect, solidarity, and understanding.
Through these moments, they exude gender euphoria, away from cis-heteronormative society.
Together they rest from the world others have created. They’re at home.
this is a new & ongoing project that i’m really relishing in. instagram.com/ajslens

It's always, like, mildly annoying when people see a het trans couple and go "all that work just to be straight?" like... one, you don't know if they're straight and two, trans people don't owe you a queer sexuality to "make up" for the fact we're trans. Transhet people aren't a subtype of trans people, they're members of the trans community, and the queer one if they so desire!

Toor’s scenes possess a kind of solemnity or quietude that does not suggest equilibrium so much as tender regard. Toor’s protagonists, obvious stand-ins for the artist himself, at least at an earlier moment in his life, seem held in suspension between two worlds, Old and New, never entirely at home in either. But he also holds them at emotional arm’s length, as if these images were tempered by time, less observations than memories, and they begin to assume the lineaments of archetype, despite their depiction of technology à la mode.
(Many of the pictures have an overall green palette, appropriate, perhaps, for the nocturnal illumination of bars or apartment parties—although more readily suggesting fin de siècle gaslight—but also reminiscent of the discoloured varnish of old paintings hanging for generations in smoke-filled drawing rooms.)

One of the things i love the most about young royals's characters is how imperfect they are, not only because of their circumstances but because they actually believe they're right, they're not perfect in ANY WAY.
Any of them could become a villain, they all have anti-hero traits just like in real life, Lisa has never been afraid of showing the darkest side of each character, even the protagonist, she doesn't mind showing the most selfish side of wille, risking him to be disliked by people, the key is how she makes the viewer empathize with him by showing exactly that, the raw side of his personality and life, making us root for him but also making us question ourselves when he does something that's clearly morally wrong: "does his circumstances excuse this behavior?" and i think that's just so incredibly genius

orpheus and eurydice in the correr museo in venice
Tumblr media
the symbolism of placing orpheus in front of a mirror is genuinely making me go insane. orpheus has already turned back and broken the deal, eurydice is lost. tragedy has run its course. and: it wouldn't have mattered. there was never a way out. he's walking towards the mirror, even if he had looked forward he'd have looked back. it wouldn't have turned out anyway. the tragedy is inevitable

Hi! I just got my library card and I'm so excited to start reading!!! Do you know if there's a way to sort by, for lack of a better term, queer experience on libby? If, wow stories, asexual stories, trans stories, etc? It's a lot of collection for me to just scroll through, so I'm trying to narrow down my starting search. Thank you for all that you do!!!!
Hi! Yes there is. you can either use keyword searching, (on the libby app, there will be a little magnifying glass icon at the footer - you can click that and then search with any keywords you’d like including ‘ace’, ‘queer’, ‘trans’ etc..). You can also browse by subject, or explore any of our pre-curated lists!
welcome & happy reading!!

reading a book for the sapphic exhibit im helping create (exhibit is loosely based around a pair of lesbians from the early 1900s who were prominent in my town)
but the book! does NOT like to suggest that this woman was a lesbian, even when it quotes her sappy letters to her partner!! which she signed off by saying
"with all my woman’s heart!! With love and a french kiss, I am your own girl’
according to the author, even though they lived together (for 20 years!!) and adopted children together, they may have just been close friends
(they were not just close friends)
-------------------
posting this on my personal blog bc I dont want to talk badly abt the book on my more professional acc and bc its more just me ranting - BUT if you see this and want updates as the exhibit takes shape go follow @themuseumlady :)

This video is a result of All Along going viral on Tik-Tok.
I do find the fact that Larry Stylinson is never going to go away fascinating. Both the reality of it - that those videos created for all sorts of purposes over ten years ago, curated by fans, and recirculated now - continue to be really powerful.
But also what it must mean for Harry and Louis when planning their lives. They can never really move on and the ground underneath them will always be unstable - because who knows when their younger selves will go viral again. There's something Black Mirror-ish about it - being unable to escape your 18 year old self and their actions, because other people are reliving them again and again.

queering history
I am sure I'll post about this more but I can't stop getting excited about the exhibit I'm helping design about a pair of c. 1900s lesbians they are SO COOL. Digging through the archive to find pieces on them is a bit hard (bias, especially against queer history in archives is also a topic I'd love to write on more) but which each piece I find, I can see the story building and AAAAA its gonna be so fun :)
signed,
a very queer museum person

hold on a sec - there's a conservative side to the LU fandom? can you delve a bit into this? im a super casual fan so i never picked up on that, but im jewish so im curious abt this conservatism.
there’s actually a lot of people that identify as christians in the linked universe sphere on tumblr, including some of the more well known blogs. it’s never been a real issue in my time, because they’re generally fine people, but recently a discord server was advertised in the linked universe and legend of zelda tags as “conservative and christian”—there’s not really anything wrong making a server like that per se, but the language used to promote it (disparaging the “pride movement” because it was “predatory”) caused understandable backlash.
screenshots from the server have been going around and it’s pretty bad, i would advise against looking for them but there’s a lot of homophobia, transphobia, and antisemitism. you know, the works.
i like to keep my blog free of this stuff, but seeing urls in my notes that match the discord usernames of people i’ve seen say terrible things is not the vibe. i hope you’re still able to enjoy linked universe as you are, because it is genuinely a really cool comic and like. there are more nice and normal people than there are people like…. that

definitely something to be said about the privilege of having queer community in real life. cause not everywhere has places where u can go and easily/safely meet other queer people... so there are a lot of people online who are in echo chambers bc they only surround themselves with people like them and they dont really know any queer ppl irl (through no fault of their own) and so they end up only knowing about perspectives of themself and people who agree with them on everything.
in real life queer communities youre not going to agree with everyone on everything, but thats a good thing. we're all from different backgrounds and have different experiences, different upbringings, etc. online if you disagree with someone you can just unfollow them, but if you're in a community irl and you disagree with someone you cant just kick them out of their damn community. you have to listen to each others perspectives and find common ground. and sometimes agree to disagree on certain things. i feel very lucky to be able to be exposed to so many different queer experiences through my irl queer friends that i wouldn't have if my only exposure to the queer community was the people i choose to surround myself with online.
