It's always, like, mildly annoying when people see a het trans couple and go "all that work just to be straight?" like... one, you don't know if they're straight and two, trans people don't owe you a queer sexuality to "make up" for the fact we're trans. Transhet people aren't a subtype of trans people, they're members of the trans community, and the queer one if they so desire!

L ink stared at Zelda for a moment, breath caught in his throat at her sweet voice. And partially because of cringing embarrassment he felt since he had fumbled in front of her by reverting to calling her ‘Your Highness.’ Although that love sick puppy in him keened that even if she was a mere commoner, he would still view her as Her Highness, his princess. She was so friendly and kind and smart, way out of his league in many ways than one. But yet, he felt this indescribable pull towards her, as if deep within himself he knew he fit right next to her perfectly.
Although he’d never admit that aloud in fear of being foolishly wrong.
Taking a deep breath he sheathed the master sword into its scabbard on his back and stepped forward, eyes tracing Zelda’s relaxed grin and letting his own lips tug up into a small smile.
‘Whatever befits you, My Highness,’ Link playfully stated, giving Zelda a mock bow to try and loosen himself up.
Formality and causality sometimes got muddled up with Link, his brain confused on his memories of being a stoic and speechless knight to now travelling, conversing, joking with said princess so freely and without restraint.
Link straightened up and strolled over to stand beside Zelda, peering down at her. Her face glowed but he would be an idiot to not notice the bags under her eyes. It greatly troubled him, concerned him on her well-being. But he didn’t want to distress her or pressure her into telling him anything she wasn’t comfortable with. ‘I slept well, how about yourself? I hardly heard you get up this morning.’
Despite the tiredness resting heavily under her eyes, Zelda still looked beautiful. Living life in the wild looked good on her. Although, anything would look divine on her. Bleakly Link realised he was in disarray, boots unlaced, one pant leg pushed up to his knee from his nights sleep, wearing his undershirt still, and hair loose and unbrushed. Part of him wanted to race back to don his champions tunic, tame his hair and look semi presentable but ultimately, the part of him that wanted to stay beside Zelda won.
‘Would you like some breakfast? I can cook something up for you before we set off this morning to our next destination,’ pausing, he cast a glance around the stables, taking in the serenity. ‘Did you still want to travel today? We can always rest another day.’

zelda brought a hand up to her mouth to hide the giggle that slipped out of her mouth when he bowed dramatically, rolling her eyes while a smile so big it almost hurt- was worn proudly on her lips. watching while he made his way to her, something inside her chest panged at the thought that before everything had happened, he wouldn’t have dared to approach her so casually.
but here, surrounded by the wilds and people who never knew formalities and titles like they did, the weight of all of that was lessened. it made her feel warm inside, that even after all the tragedy, she still had him- that she could roam freely and help rebuild the kingdom, that she could inquire and learn more about everything without the weight of the world on her shoulders.
at the sound of him speaking, she let her thoughts come to an end, smiling sheepishly when he asked if she slept well- a hand coming up to run down the golden strands of hair, a habit she had when trying to lie.
“ah, i slept… well! and, i tried not to wake you, your sleep is important.” she smile, scooting over on the flattened log of wood, making space for him if he wanted to sit.
by the looks of how much in disarray he was, she knew he slept hard- she could only imagine the weight he had to bare, and what type of toll it took on his body. she convinced herself she was doing the right thing in letting him sleep, even if it was at the cost of her being lonely for a couple hours into the late night.
at the mention of food, her stomach let out an embarrassing rumble- already excited at the prospect of his culinary skills. she didn’t know if it was because he was making her food, but the meals they shared together were extra tasty.
“breakfast would be nice, please.”
she thought a little about what she wanted to do, scrunching up her nose while she thought-
“you’ll think i’m lazy if i say rest another day- what do you want to do link?” zelda asked, turning to face him and wanting more than anything to soothe the mess of hair he currently donned.
“i just think it’s lovely here- i wanted to see if there was enough land to start a garden.” she finally confessed, looking over to where she thought a piece of land would look just dazzling with an array of wild flowers.
