snippet of my oc and izana interacting with a guest appearance from makiri that probably wont make it into the fic im writing for them but i thought was hilarious. also the characterisation is so messy but its all for the joke so its fine

opens and ends abruptly bc well. snippet

“Hey,” Retsu says, breaking the blissful silence. “Hey, is Mitsuhide more your type or Makiri?”

A moment's pause. Before she can repeat herself, because it's an extremely important question that deserves an appropriate reponse, Izana deigns to humour her. Shortly. “We can’t all be in love with our friends,” he replies. “Some of us also have work to be doing.”

There’s a knock at the door. Retsu hums and waits just long enough to be sure of who’s on the other side (one knock, really more of a bang, hard and impatient, definitely Makiri) before continuing. The door creaks open as she says, “How about that guy, uh… black hair, older, got married while I was Viscountess? That… ah, Amakize. Eldest son of Lugis. How about him? He seems like your type.”

The door slams shut.

Izana is unmoved. “And what, pray tell, is that.”

Retsu obliges, always eager to please. “Obviously, bastard under the smile.”

Izana isn’t looking at her, so she compensates by snickering obnoxiously. Still no reaction. Today’s Izana is determined to be a bore, it seems.

“… What are you doing?” Not even a minute since he arrived and Makiri already sounds tired. It’s good to know she hasn’t lost her touch – Izana is just boring.

She looks up and raises one arm in a lazy wave. “Hi, Makiri. His Royal Majesty says you’re ugly.”

Izana sighs but makes no move to deny it.

“What are you doing,” Makiri repeats, staring pointedly at Retsu.

She considers that. “Your King is quizzing me on the male members of upper noble houses and high-ranking officers.”

“I am being harassed,” says Izana.

Makiri sidesteps all that with long-practised ease and asks, “Why only the men?”

“Because he's even worse at remembering the women than I am.”

Izana’s eye twitches. “Name one woman.”

“Haki of Arleon!”

“You’re a woman,” Makiri helpfully adds.

Retsu wrinkles her nose. “Yeah, but Lady Haki’s the most important one.”

Izana, once again, does not attempt to disagree. Makiri closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. “Shameless, the both of you.”

I had only played the one game and it’s the one people don’t like the plot of #but meta knight completely intrigued me #what was this blue sword wielding little kirby dude doing here??#so I’d replay his boss fight over and over again just to get that glimpse at his face #and I’d sit and wonder what it all meant. who was this mysterious swordsman??#and the boss fight was hard!!! it cost me to beat it at the time but I’d still do it to see his face #AND THEN AFTER LIKE A YEAR OF THIS it occurred to me that there was a kirby wiki online #so I found all the pictures of his face and my little fangirl-raised-by-deviantart mind ATE THIS UP.#and then I look up that one fateful google search……… the one that changed me #meta.#knight.#maskless.#and this drawing was towards the top of the results #I went feral about a fandom related topic for the very very first time #I lost my MIND. HOW can a character be so cute AND COOL??! I was a changed child.#I consumed the hoshi no kaabii anime like it was the only piece of media on earth #I drew comics about him. I made my first kirby oc ever to go on a grand adventure on him.#I filled my notebooks with kirby art to the point my mom was like ‘jossie. you REALLY need to branch out. these are just orbs.’#and now I am the kirby artist I am today. so yes. it obviously has existed before then but new readers/watchers of dungeon meshi have had interactions that have solidified my hatred of a certain phenomenon, which is when somebody has a question or just observation about a piece of media, which is answered later in the piece of media, and is therefore currently a spoiler to them

I think Viewing Monika as some Kind of evil Mastermind does her character a huge disservice for multiple reasons but also Just cause it ascribes her a Level of competence she simply does Not display

#like i just watched a video essay critizising ddlc #and they had a ton of complaints about the plot most of which boil down to greatly overestimating how powerful monika is #like no she is not in fact a god of her world who created the game she is just another character #forced to deal with the fact she was given self awareness #monika not having a route isn't her own fault for not simply writing one for herself #she actually tries to do that #in act two monica isn't keeping up the charade of this being a normal functional visual novel for shits and giggles #but because she's kinda trying her best to keep it together #and iirc she didn't stop with that cause she got fed up but cause she broke most of the rest of the game #and saying she goes from 'basically hitler' to contrite is just not fair to her #she was a teenager who got forced to deal with her reality being fake and then given one 'real' thing to cling to #and a power she didn't really know how to use properly that could change it #sorry that just kinda annoyed me #idk man #ddlc #doki doki literature club #monika ddlc

maybe I didn't read the same books as ya'll- but I just do not buy into the whole 'Fitz put Sophie on a pedestal' 'Fitz was jealous of Sophie' narrative Shannon is trying to push. I get that it's supposedly canon? and he's Shannon's character, but it feels like such a bad misread of the whole situation and both characters?? And kind of like a failsafe argument for why sokeefe 'had' to happen.

#Idk- I think Keefe is the one who puts her on a pedestal.#He's the one who questions her ideas and decisions the least #between him and Fitz I mean.#kotlc #fitz vacker #keefe scencen #There's moments where Fitz is annoyed that Sophie's ideas #are the ones people go with usually #which could create jealousy.#But deadass #I'm on his side most of the time. the only reason her ideas don't fail #is because of plot armor #<3 #i just don't get how fitz is demonized for being overly critical of sophie #but also putting her on a pedestal???#what?

“Jason should get over being upset about his death” - he has, he wasn’t angry at Bruce or the world because they failed him and he ended up dying, which he made clear plain as day and that’s about the most reasonable a person who went through what he went through could be

anyway I don’t think these people realize how gory being bludgeoned to near death is, and maybe it's because of the limitations of the medium that scene was presented in

#not to mention he had to process the added heartbreak of his birth mother’s rejection/betrayal at the same time #like yeah he was cocky and smiling in the uth movie go Jason go but that’s also the same movie that drastically changed the context #and tone of that scene by erasing Sheila #kelseethe #I remember the first time reading aditf I got flashbacks to a Korean horror movie that still puts me in a weird place #anyway it was about a serial killer who went around killing people by beating their skulls in with a hammer #one of the plots was centered around a victim who didn’t die after the first attack and even managed to escape at first #long story short she was running around trying to get help and the cops were useless + he ended up finding her again and finished the job #sfx brains skull blood and viscera everywhere #and that’s exactly what happened to Jason you just didn’t see any gore because it’s an American comic #nor did you hear his screams and the sounds from metal making contact with bone and guts #and like I said the uth movie was pretty sanitized too same for the titans show which also downplayed his death lol #anyway I think it’s really forgiving of Jason not to blame Bruce or anyone else for the fact that they let the circumstances lead to that #and to instead only criticize how nothing was done in the aftermath #Idk I always found it a bit fascinating how it doesn’t seem to have dawned on most people including his fans #exactly how violent that experience was

Tbh, nothing has made me sympathize more with Kipperlilly Copperkettle than her anger issues.

Cause anger is an emotion we feel when we're missing something. When we need something and can't get it. It's a balm to make us feel better when things don't go our way.

i do love canon amy & rory but god, does some part of me wish they really had gone with the idea of the doctor picking up a child as a companion (and then later, that child’s best friend with a huge crush on her.) with the rest of the season really not changing at all, except now it’s amelia pond with an angel in her head killing her and lost alone in the woods. it’s little rory who dies and is forgotten and becomes a toy soldier. if this is going to be a fairy tale, then let it be one. children have never been safe in fairy tales.
