I wish I could tell the original artist that this drawing permanently changed the entire direction of my life in 2009. I want to shake their hand, look them in the eye, and admit I would not be who I am today if this drawing didn’t exist.
EDIT: Original artist is @ivynajspyder !!!!
#‘but jojo’ you ask. ‘that seems a little ridiculous’#‘don’t you think that’s a little much?’#no. NO. IT IS THE TRUTH.#little baby middle schooler jojo had just gotten squeak squad. the first kirby game she ever owned.#and she loved it even tho there’s a lot she didn’t understand#like who dedede was supposed to be or why copy abilities existed#I asked for the game because my roommate at swim camp had it and she told me the plot of the game when I looked over her shoulder to watch#(the plot she told me was completely made up btw she said kirby had to save the dimension from dark overlord and did not mention the squeak#and said stuff about meta knight being a bad guy idk I realize now she was just weaving a tale of her own haha)#SO I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE LORE. I had only played the one game and it’s the one people don’t like the plot of#but meta knight completely intrigued me#what was this blue sword wielding little kirby dude doing here??#so I’d replay his boss fight over and over again just to get that glimpse at his face#and I’d sit and wonder what it all meant. who was this mysterious swordsman??#and the boss fight was hard!!! it cost me to beat it at the time but I’d still do it to see his face#AND THEN AFTER LIKE A YEAR OF THIS it occurred to me that there was a kirby wiki online#so I found all the pictures of his face and my little fangirl-raised-by-deviantart mind ATE THIS UP.#and then I look up that one fateful google search……… the one that changed me#meta.#knight.#maskless.#and this drawing was towards the top of the results#I went feral about a fandom related topic for the very very first time#I lost my MIND. HOW can a character be so cute AND COOL??! I was a changed child.#I consumed the hoshi no kaabii anime like it was the only piece of media on earth#I drew comics about him. I made my first kirby oc ever to go on a grand adventure on him.#I filled my notebooks with kirby art to the point my mom was like ‘jossie. you REALLY need to branch out. these are just orbs.’#and now I am the kirby artist I am today. so yes. YES. this drawing did change my life.#thanks for reading. and thanks to the original artist. I tried to find them to link but nothing. so if you know pls tell me#THE END!!! and remember! your art makes a difference in people’s lives even if they don’t say it to your face!!!!

I occasionally see people expressing surprise that there's battling on Neopets so let me explain the Battledome(TM) real quick:
Tumblr media
There is PvP on Neopets
You can also unlock and fight various NPC challengers
There have historically been literal war events where the main goal is to defeat as many challengers as possible
Sometimes at the end of plots TNT will toss an obscenely hard boss bottle at the players where the main objective is to loose as many times as possible
You don't increase your stats by battling, but instead giving rocks to a guy on an island
You can only increase 1 stat at a time, and only about 1 stat per day if you're far enough in your pet's training
You do damage by equipping weapons, which can do damage via icons or block icons for defense
There are thousands of weapons on the site
About 5% of the weapons are decent
Two of the top-rated weapons are peas
The peas cost upward of 100 mil a piece
The attack animation consists of sliding a png of your Neopet across the screen
There's a new weapon called the Power of Friendship
You can now defeat your enemies on Neopets with the Power of Friendship
People either take the Battledome entirely too seriously or not at all, there's no in-between
There's a punching bag that you can beat up at any time because it doesn't fight back
Back in ye olden days the punching bag would sometimes be replaced with a slightly different punching bag that not only fought back but was one of the stronger opponents
There's two items that you can use in PvP that change the species and color of your opponent's Neopet because this site thrives on chaos

I've beat inscryption but kaycees mod is beating my absolute ass! I cannot for the life of me beat it even once!! Give pro strats pls... (also I love your art so so much obviously but I also think it'd be fun to ask you about the game itself if that's ok!!! :,D)
ofc id be happy to talk about the game itself!! dont feel bad about losing to kmod its very hard on purpose because kaycee likes inflicting pain!
first of all, i learned a lot of lifesaving strats/tricks from this little fanmade kmod wiki! it gives pros/cons for each starter deck and goes into detail about how hand manipulation works and stuff, check it out for sure
that said the most important things to do are:
keep a small deck, especially try not to have more than one or two 1-blood cost cards or free cards
have a big damage card that can 1-hit KO leshy on the first turn (5 damage until you get the challenge that starts you off with 1 damage on your side, then this card should do 6 damage)
those rules probably arent as important when youre just starting and the challenges arent too bad, but eventually leshy is gonna pull a bifurcated turkey vulture on his first turn when you turn the heat up down the road so itd be wise to get into the rhythm early. im assuming you only have vanilla deck unlocked, so try buffing the wolf with bifurcated or at a good campfire
you want to keep your deck small so you can reliably pull your win card preferably on the first turn, when you have too much useless crap like pelts or extra 1-blood costs, theyre going to be pulled in your starting hand and you wont be able to do enough damage in time.
its wise to have at least two 1-Hit-KO win cards to prepare for the prospector since he wipes your board after phase one, and having a backup is valuable when you cant trim down your deck enough
try to avoid map nodes that give you cards, and try to aim for map nodes that will take away cards (or otherwise wont give you new ones). use the campfire to try and get rid of cards you dont want, try to fail cave challenges, dont buy pelts from trapper (buy his knife instead if you can), etc. if a campfire doesnt kill your card you can also exit to menu and re-enter the game to have it buff your preferred card instead lol. and if youre forced to pick a cost card, go with 3-blood cost. if youre forced to pick a family card, try to get one that you can fuse with your win card at mycos. again, you can always exit/re-enter start menu to see what your other options are
that said, ive started doing something on my own that i havent seen mentioned anywhere, and its making sure to use an item in battle if backpack is your next node, to prevent yourself from getting packrats from having a full inventory. im sure theres a strat where you can get a bunch of rats to fuse at mycos but it isnt worth it imo
that, and also try to have at least one item that can instantly kill/remove a card from leshy's board before you fight final boss leshy, like the hook, trapper knife, or scissors. ideally you want to kill his moleman so you can use your KO card before he pulls out prospector and wipes your board and things get hairy. there is a guaranteed backpack node before you fight leshy, you can actually exit and re-enter game to make sure you get the item you want if you dont feel bad about it lol (magickal bleach works against the moleman too but you have to unlock this)
getting your KO card is easier once you unlock the Blood deck (its the first you unlock i believe, after 1-2 challenges) cause it gives you a goat and moose! try to buff that moose at least once, maybe give the goat a good sigil like undying, fecundity or hoarder (hoarder can be a lifesaver if your deck is too big, its the sigil magpie has) or otherwise you can sacrifice the mole to the goat at an early sacrifice stone

warnings: swearing, mention of donno being a hitman, donno beats someone up, blood
I walked into the diner and sat down at the counter. Tonya looked over at me before disappearing into the back. She came back out and sat down next to me.
“he’s baking a pie.” She muttered as she looked me over. I nodded. “I know I don’t have to tell you but he’ll be a while.” I nodded again. “What did you need?”
“Donno knows what it is.” I muttered. Tonya nodded and interlocked her fingers expectantly. “I need donno to do his thing.” Tonya raised an eyebrow at me. I rolled my eyes and tried to fight a smile. “Ok his other thing.”
“I don’t know the exact nature of your relationship with donno,” Tonya said, hands raised and trying to fight a smile. “But I do not want to know what donnos thing is.” The smile broke through and I had to fight not to burst out laughing during the afternoon tea of half the diner.
“his hit man thing Tonya.” I breathed out when I got control back. Tonya nodded, smile still in place as she put a hand on my back.
“yeah I figured.” She said. “Just needed to get you out of that serious streak.” I hung my head and laughed quietly. “It’s that guy again isn’t it?”
“Tonya I don’t know what I’d do without you sometimes.” I sighed. “Yeah. He came in to work today and tried to hassle me. Boss cut me early since it was causing a bit of a scene trying to get rid of him.” Tonya nodded and we waited in silence for a bit before I broke it. “I’m worried he’ll come back and that time it’ll cost me my job.” Tonya turned to look at me as donno came behind the counter. He nodded to Tonya and stopped in front of me.
“no he won’t.” Donno said. I looked up at him and Tonya left. “Where does he work?”
“I don’t know.” I answered. Donno nodded and he flexed his hand at his side. “I just have his name. I asked Cassie to find out some things so I could get a restraining order but…”
“he’ll violate it.” Donno nodded. “She won’t be able to help.” I nodded. “What do you want me to do?” I shrugged.
“scare him?” I said. “Hurt him a little?” Donno looked at me and his eyes softened slightly. “I’d honestly ask you to…you know…”
“you don’t want me to do that.” He said. I nodded.
“I would.” I cut in. Donno frowned.
“no you wouldn’t.” He shook his head. “You’re too much of a good person.” I smiled at him. “I’ll scare him for you though.” I nodded.
“thank you.” I breathed out. We looked at each other in silence for a bit before the door opened. Donno frowned as he looked up and I focused on his hand flexing again. He discreetly jerked his thumb towards the kitchen and I got up. In my haste, I caught a glimpse of the guy that had been giving me a hard time about going out with him.
“there you are (Y/N).” He said. I froze in fear. Donno quickly made his way around the counter and stood next to me, sliding his hand into mine. He squeezed and I didn’t know if it was for my benefit or his. I could feel him tug me behind him and I moved slowly as Donna stared down my tormentor. “Come on (Y/N) don’t be like that. I thought we had something special and here I find you with this…thing.” He waved a hand at Donno who scowled at the man.
“I suggest you leave. Now. Before the situation gets worse.” Donno said. The two stared each other down and Tonya snuck out of the kitchen to stand by the counter.
“I believe I’m talking to (Y/N) buddy.” Donno tightened his grip on my hand and I could see his shoulders tense up.
“Customers donno.” Tonya whispered. There was a slight turn of his head before donno let go of me and started to walk over to the guy. “(Y/N)…” Tonya called softly, holding her hand out for me.
“(Y/N), let’s talk this out. Give me a chance. I know it’s hard to get someone but you don’t have to stoop so low as this asshole.” I frowned and watched as Donno grabbed the guys shirt and pulled him outside. I ran towards the window to watch donno drag him towards the back of the dinner.
“you don’t want to see this.” Tonya said as she put her hand on my shoulder. I shook my head.
“I do.” I said. “I need to make sure…” Tonya sighed and shook her head.
“Donno is good at his job.” She whispered. “Let him do his job.” I turned to look at her and she smiled softly at me. “He can’t do his job if he knows you are there or watching. Donno will take care of this.” She squeezed my shoulder and I sighed.
“I supposed you’re right.” I breathed out. Tonya led me to the kitchen where the timer went off. “His pie is done.” I muttered as I took a seat at the counter. Tonya rushed over and grabbed the pie. She put it on the cooling rack in front of me and sat down next to me.
“I get now why you wanted donno to…” I nodded as she picked at her nails. “It won’t happen again. He’ll make sure of that.” We waited in silence for donno to come back through the back door. Even though we were expecting it, we still jumped when the door slammed open. Tonya rushed out to see what was left of the guy while I ran to donno. My fingers hovered over his face, trying to see if the blood spattered there was his own or not. Donno watched me as I tried to make the decision and leaned into my touch when I took too long.
“he won’t be bothering you again.” Donno whispered, closing his eyes and letting me fuss over him. I grabbed his hand and pulled him over to the sink. He pulled away and went to sit down next to his pie. His eyes flickered over to it while I grabbed some paper towels and wet them before moving to stand between his legs. I gently cleaned the blood off his face while he watched me.
“Is he…” I asked. Donno shook his head, reaching up to grab my hands.
“he’s alive. But he won’t go anywhere near you again.” He assured me. I nodded and breathed out a sigh of relief.
“thank you.” I smiled at him. Donno nodded and slowly stood up. “You reacted pretty strongly when he thought you were my partner.”
“I did.” Donno confirmed. He rubbed his thumb over my knuckles and I chuckled as realization washed over me.
“Donno, do you like me?” Donno nodded, a faint blush taking over his cheeks.
“I do.” He said with a nod. He squeezed his eyes shut and turned his head away for a second before looking at me again. “You like me.” I nodded. “Then it’s alright if I do this right?” Donno asked.
“do wh…?” I started to asked as donno leaned in and kissed me softly. I sighed and melted against him, letting him bring my hands to his chest as he moved to cup my cheeks. “Wow.” I breathed out as I leaned my head against his. Donno smiled at me and nodded.
“wow.” He agreed. Donno moved to hug me to him and I leaned in for another kiss.
“FINALLY!” Tonya yelled, making us both turn towards her. Donno rubbed my back soothingly as I jumped closer to him. He chuckled before turning back to me, smiling before kissing me again.

Ronancetober Day #1: Upside Down
[A/N: Am I late? Yes, absolutely. Is this short? Yes, that's also a factor, but enjoy!]
Tumblr media
A shiver that started at Nancy’s spine and worked up between her shoulder blades made her tremble. The upside down wasn’t cold, not necessarily. She wasn’t sure if it had the ability to feign weather. There was a dampness to the air, and a sickly scent that reminded her of the innards of a pumpkin that rotted from the inside out.
She held herself closer regardless, pulling at the sleeves of her muddied sweater. It would fall on her luck to wear white after Labor Day and of course, the universe was pushing her by shoving her into the depths of a mirror dimension. Nancy stepped tentatively over a stretching tendril of black.
“Are you cold?” Robin asked.
Nancy hadn’t been aware that she was being perceived, not by Robin or by Steve and Eddie who trailed a few feet behind. Her mind was racing over the blood that seeped into her skin. She hadn’t expected a demonic bat collective to pursue them with such ferocity.
“What? No… Not cold. Getting used to the air, I guess.”
“I’ve never been here before it’s charming if you look past the evil boss-level threat trying to rip us apart limb from limb.”
Nancy winced “Comforting.”
Robin somehow always said the wrong things and the right things all at once. It was a talent that little possessed. The last person who had the rational effect of doom on her was Fred. Nancy didn’t have any type of physical attraction to her fellow reporter but seemed to be fighting off one against Robin Buckley.
It was entirely unwelcome at this time. At this point, Nancy Wheeler wanted to get to the dilapidated version of her bedroom that housed her weapons. Guns she had gotten from a guy who sold them out of the back of his blue 1983 Jeep Gladiator. They cost her a pretty penny, but the weight in the palm of her hand soothed her soul.
“Sorry, I just, do you ever wish that you didn’t live in the world you do? Of course, I wouldn’t want it to be this one. This one is horrible. But maybe if the upside down exists, there’s something out there with fewer teeth.”
“You’re right, that is comforting.”
She hadn’t thought about it before and wouldn’t entertain the idea if the delivery didn’t come from a shaggy-haired girl with a lopsided grin. They walked methodically through the forest together, the not-so-cold air worming its way under her skin. A world with less teeth was preferred.
“What was it like?” Robin stepped carefully over a vine, she offered a hand which Nancy accepted as she hauled herself over, not letting her skin touch the foreign body. “The first time you were here?”
She laughed dryly, “Terrifying. I had left that morning with Johnathan through my bedroom window to help him look for Will and Barb. At that point, I thought she had somehow survived down here, had beat the odds even though we didn’t get signs from her, not like we did Will.”
“You don’t have to-“ Robin swallowed thickly.
“No, no it’s okay, really. It’s good to talk about this stuff, right?”
There was a nod, a glassy and tender look in Robin’s eyes. Was it good to talk about things? She had buried what she had done to Barb for years, had channeled it into a carnal anger that sometimes filled her even when she wasn’t keen on it doing so. Robin moved her hand to the small of Nancy’s back, steadying over another impenetrable vine.
“We searched the woods for an opening until it was dark, had separated for just a moment when I finally found a way into the Upside Down. Never in a million years would I try that hard to be here if I just would have known.”
“Know what?”
“What I would find. When I was… here, I could still make out the sound of Johnathan’s voice. But it was a distant echo. We could hear each other, feel each other. But there was something else too. Something dangerous that could sense me. A Demogorgon, which, in comparison is nothing compared to what we’re facing now.”
“Still scary,” Robin reassured, “Still too much to deal with.”
“It was hunting me, circling me like, like a wolf. I had run towards Johnathan’s voice, found the gate that I had come through in the first place and reached my hand through. He pulled me through, something we didn't know was possible until he held me. Until I was back in the living, breathing world.”
“I can’t imagine,”
Robin’s voice was small. She stared at Nancy with a tenderness that made her stomach flip. She hadn’t repeated it, and had struggled not to think about it too. After sitting with Johnathan that night, not touching in her small twin bed with the lights on, she wanted to forget about this place and the things that lived inside of it.
Robin’s shoe got caught on a root and Nancy’s breath hitched. She was quick to wrap her arm around the taller girl’s torso, holding her mere inches away from the nearest vine. It’s destination would have killed them, her grip impenetrable.
“Holy shit,” Robin squeaked, in marvel of Nancy’s quick thinking and strength, “Fuck!”
“It really did take you twice as long to walk as a baby, didn’t it?”
Robin righted herself, still gripping Nancy’s arm, the warmth overwhelming. Maybe the upside down was inherently cold, or maybe Robin was just inherently comforting. “I wouldn’t lie about that sort of thing, Nancy. My parents had me tested.”
“And?” Nancy smiled.
Robin shrugged “Inconclusive.”

Ninjago Role Swap AU Part 2!
As promised, here's what's up with the cannon ninja in my Role Swap AU, this one is much longer than the last one because I have so many thoughts on these guys. Please send me asks for anything you want to know!
Lloyd is still Garmadon and Misako's son but is about 10 years older than the Swap!Ninja (who are around 15ish). Lloyd was believed to be the Green Ninja, they never really told them but they weren't exactly subtle either. So Lloyd trained to be better, the best, even, but one day, when no one was watching, he snuck into the Golden Weapons' room to see if he was the Green Ninja, and... he wasn't. Lloyd was devastated but couldn't tell anyone without admitting to having gone somewhere he shouldn't have, so he didn't do or say anything about it for months. Eventually, he decided that if he could somehow show destiny that he was good enough then maybe, just maybe, he could be the Green Ninja. So he left, and they never saw him again.
After refusing to help the EM lock away the Serpentine, Ray and Maya were banished to an island a few hours' boat ride away from Ninjago City. There they had Kai and Nya. Initially, Ray hadn't been very upset about being sent away, the other EM had chosen a large, resourceful island that was quite beautiful, but after so long on the island he began to resent them, claiming they should have known he was right and stopped. Kai and Nya believed him completely and Ray began to train them to exact his revenge on the EM. One night, after this had been going on for a few years, Maya disappeared. None of them knew why she had left and believed she had simply abandoned them and were very upset about it, Ray most of all. He began pushing the children harder and molding them into them excellent fighters. He eventually figured out Kai had inherited his element, amber, and began to teach him how he would use his element when he finally met other masters. Kai is proud of his element and seeks to make his father proud by exacting his revenge.
Though she does her best not to show it, Nya is jealous of Kai's power and how it makes their father more proud of him. She decides that she'll make her own kind of power and over the years prefects her own Mech to use when the time is right and win her father's affection.
Jay, or Prince Jay, as he is called in the game, is a highly-intelligent NPC in Prime Empire and the main antagonist of the game. He is the rebellious Rock Star Prince of Prime Empire and son of the King of Prime Empire, who sends the player on quests. Throughout the game Jay repeatedly battles the player, learning their fighting style and using that information to his advantage. The player is not allowed to truly beat him until they reach the end of the game, where he is the final boss. Jay doesn't really understand that he's the villain, or that hurting people is bad as he has never really seen or felt pain due to being in a game. When he isn't fighting players Jay likes to cause mischief that can often cost his target a life. Jay's ultimate goal, despite what many think, is to escape the game so he can finally return to his father. The King was never really a father to him, instead, he gives that title to Milton Dyre, who talked to him often while creating the game. Unagami is also like a brother to him. When the game was shut down after it was discovered he could bring players into the game Jay didn't know what was going on, only that one day Milton stopped coming to him. He was scared and alone with no way of knowing what had happened and feared the worse. He has worked hard to find a way to the real world and can only hope nothing bad has happened after all this time.
Zane is the personal assistant to Dr. Julien, owner of Julien Corp., he is an old man and while he's not old enough to be retiring too soon he still needs help with anything from working on a new invention to remembering to take his medicine, all of which Zane happily assists with. Over time Dr. Julien has started to see Zane as more of a son than an assistant but is still struggling with getting Zane to see that.
Cole is the cool and calm son of King Vangelis and Prince of Shintaro. Or at least, everyone thinks he's cool and calm. In order to fit the role of prince, and eventually king, Cole does his best to remain calm, responsible, and respectable. Deep down though he's a total dork and a softie. He loves to play all the video games he can find and has a collection of nearly every Starfarrer comic.
Oh wow, I wrote over 800 words of backstory, wow! Well, as you can see I have lots of ideas for these guys, and for most of them, this isn't even close to all I have for them. So please send me asks about any of these guys I want to tell.

just random musings on maplestory (do not play this game)
Extremely long post btw I was rambling
It's just so aggravating how much the entire game changed so quickly.
When the game started, it was a small world. It took a week to reach level 10, and over a month to reach lvl 30 when you got the first job change, even if you were playing every day. This forced people to learn to share maps, thus increasing mob spawn rates. This ALSO necessitated the playing of party quests, a co-op instance where you and 3 other people killed monsters, did platforming, and worked together to beat it and get huge amounts of exp.
The amount of cash shop stuff was very minimal. Little outfits you wore over your armor that did literally nothing, really. They added content slowly, and I think I got to Ludibrium when it got bought out.
Like I had a friend who played more than me (I was in school at the time) and was one of the first people, like a year into the game, to reach level 60. It was rough.
And then they changed the exp curve! Which was great, but it was SUCH a vast change. Instead of taking a month to get to lvl 30, it took like, less than a day. And suddenly there was less demand for map sharing, way less demand for party quests, and as they increased the exp reward for stuff, people just. Ending up grinding solo constantly.
I was the weirdo who did the quests btw. I could barely play in high school so I just did Literally Every Quest lmao.
AND THEN. Then. They added extra stats to your weapons. This was the fucking worst thing. So. They made super bosses have a special kind of Boss Defense, and the only thing capable of piercing that defense was a special extra stat you could get on weapons, known as "Damage to Boss Monsters" that was only available as a "hidden potential" stat. And when you got those hidden stats, it was completely random what you would get.
BUT. If you ~really~ wanted a specific stat on your weapons, you could pay cash for "Cubes" and these would randomize the potentials. But to get the GOOD stats, the ones that would let you fight bosses, you had to buy the Fancy Cubes. And a lot of them. A stack of high quality cubes would cost you like, 50$ for ten of them.
The average cost of a single weapon capable of letting you fight a boss was $300. That's was the Average. Just a long series of gacha-type rerolls trying to actually do a main part of the game.
Good god they made you want to do it though. The best armor in the game was behind these super bosses, and only by getting that armor (which was a fraction of a CHANCE of being the one you needed) could you access a large portion of the game. And these bosses were extremely hard to get to, and many of them spawned like. Once a week. Or once a month. For the entire server.
If you REALLY grinded like constantly, forever, and got lucky by making friends with richer players, you could MAYBE get to be in the arena when they beat the boss. Maybe. If you survived.
And eventually they released the "No Cash" Reboot server, which was. Better. You couldn't trade with anyone or put any equipment in your storage which was stupid as hell, and even with the buffed enemies, you could probably get to the end-game shit Eventually. Though it was incredibly grueling, and relying on RNG to get any good items was. Rough. And they still had cash in the form of pets that could heal you so it was kind of a moot point regardless.
At that point though, all the people from early on in the game's life cycle, who enjoyed like. Playing with others. Had just gotten completely burnt out on the pay-to-win shit and the updates constantly nerfing and buffing classes based on....I'm not sure. Profit margins? Complaints? Who's to say. I tried Reboot for a while but after the third guild I joined that demanded constant leveling I just noped the fuck out of there lmao.
I know people still play this game considering it still gets updates but I hope they're doing okay. I don't want to stress myself out doing the research lmao. Fuck that shit.

Forspoken - Best ARPG developed by Luminous Production
Forspoken has been considered one of those gaming titles exactly where I was cautious right from the start. The concept was intriguing as it would be my sort of genre. However, the tiniest bit of gameplay that was shown caused me to pump the brakes somewhat. After an extremely disappointing trial, I used to be prepared for disappointment. This didn't take time, but when I finally got into the overall game, I came to discover that I was completely incorrect.
Story
Tumblr media
Following the narrative, the video game follows Frey Holland, who is transported from New York to the land of Athia after trying to take an amusing Cuff. She then finds herself in the middle of a war that has been tearing the kingdom apart through an unimaginable force often known as "The Corruption," twisting the animals, people, and terrain of the entire kingdom into nightmare-like, broken versions of their own.
Tumblr media
Combat
The fight is extremely enjoyable and enjoyable, with Tanta's battles with bosses being the absolute highlights, but I would have preferred more movement. Flow's use is determined by your stamina meter, as exemplified by the diamonds just above the wellness pub. You need to keep watch over the meter in the battle to ensure people don't get caught with no ability to escape, but it's also noteworthy to keep track of it while traveling across the globe. The moment you initiate Flow, it will cost you one gem for each time you press the switch and use up another after a short time (when Frey dashes somewhat again). You can readjust this timer by interacting with the surroundings, just like when auto-jumping over a small obstacle. There is a lot of energy from the launch and even fewer steps to reestablish it, so when anyone's running out, you'll have to run to recover. Our website is the best place to buy cheap New PS4 games.
Tumblr media
Graphics
Visually, Forspoken is a treat. You'll find three graphics game modes you could use, or six if you're playing with the latest TV or monitor. Performance mode is the "worst," while high-quality mode has by far the most detail while dropping the frames per second in certain instances. Hurry up, cheap PS4 racing games are on the market. In between these two modes is the ray tracing system mode, which provides the most efficient lighting while still preserving the features of the quality mode. If you are hooked up to a monitor that can handle 120 refresh rates, you can toggle this off or on for each illustration mode likewise. I had this turned on during my own time playing Forspoken, and turning off the feature was a very jarring wisdom as the frames per second slowed to an absolute halt. In any case, whatever game mode you play in, it's hard to notice the difference in precision when you play the recreation because things are so fast you're barely able to figure out if there's additional aliasing happening with some of the vegetation that is visible in the distance.

Sound design and music
The sound and music raise the book's overall adventure just as much. From softer, more catchy beats to explosive orchestral arrangements mingled with singing choirs, the soundtrack is the perfect accompaniment to the snarling of the creatures and humans.

Bottom Line
Forspoken is an impressive new IP. It has its fair share of challenges, but the more time you spend in Athia Forspoken, the more its world entices you with its fascinating combat system and, additionally, the pure pleasure of honestly crossing vast environments that are enthralling. Luminous Productions is undoubtedly onto something with that one, but it needs much more focus and sophistication. At the very least, Forspoken attests to its worth in its own right and reflects its potential to one day be a part of Square Enix's main franchises.

You're more amazing than a fallen off dick
That reminds me of today when I styled on an overpowered boss fight so hard that I blew his dragon-dick clean off by killing him on the first turn
Tumblr media
For context, all my guys are attacking, and the -35 over the red crystal shows how much damage I'm about to deal. I lost 4 games in a row to this boss, all of which consisted of several turns of the boss throwing out overpowered units for free every turn and eventually grinding me out. And how do you beat a boss that gets a free overpowered unit at the end of every round? By killing him before the first round ends. Obviously. Why didn't I think of that sooner.
Anyway, this is why cost reduction is the most overpowered thing ever.
To give a play-by-play of how exactly this turn went down, this is from Path of Champions, so I have passive powers and my cards have special items to buff them. The 9/9 up there is The Poro King, my champion who I stacked a ton of items on over the course of the run. One was Farsight Alteration, which makes me draw a copy at the start of the game. I also had that item on a Poro Snacks. I also had 2 copies of a passive power called Quick Draw, which makes cards cost 1 less on the turn that I drew them. Poro King normally costs 5, so it got reduced to 3. And I had 3 mana on turn one because of Normal Progression Mechanics and also another passive power.
I also had a Mana Deposit on Poro King, which makes it refund the mana I spent on it when I play it, so it's basically free. It also also had a Shadow Totem, which makes it summon a copy of itself when summoned that dies after it attacks. It also also also had an Iceborne Gauntlet, which makes it Banishing Light the strongest enemy unit when it's summoned. The opponent had 2 blockers, so with the King and its shadow totem copy, it got rid of them both.
The Poro Snacks I mentioned costs 3, but because I drew it that turn it costed 1. It gives all my poros +1/+1 for the rest of the game, but the main benefit is that it had 2 Hextech Fabricator items on it, each of which make it give an item to my strongest unit, so it gave the king a huge stat boost. I also had a Pouty Poro, which costs 1 but through a combination of powers and cards I made it a 6/6. The 2/2 is a 1-drop with a farsight alteration but it didn't matter.
Finally, the boss started with 50 health. This is my 2nd attack of the turn, because I topdecked a 3-drop spell (1-drop because Quick Draw) that revives all my units that died this turn and gives me an extra attack. The king's shadow clone died after the first attack, so this revived it, which made it spawn its own shadow clone, thus the 3 poro kings. The revival also triggered the Mana Deposit again, thus why I'm at 3 mana.
In conclusion: I blew the cosmic dragon's dick off.
There's also this other FTK I screenshotted.
Tumblr media
Another Shadow Totem and also a passive power got me 3 of my champion Samira on the board and another passive gave me those other 2 units, and I blasted this stone golem to bits with a barrage of 0-cost cannonballs that also triggered my units' buffing abilities. Didn't even need a 2nd attack for this one.
The hardest adventures in this gamemode give you a lot of time to collect items and powers, so the power level gets absurd enough to do shit like this.

My short Sonic Superstars take after having fully-cleared the game (well, it was short when I first wrote that sentence):
These bosses are definitely some of the worst in the classic series. Having 30-second long downtime in-between chances to damage the bosses doesn't make the boss hard, it just makes them tedious and overstay their welcome, ESPECIALLY in Trip's campaign.
In particular, the three final bosses (Eggman, Fang, and Dark Dragon) all take about seven minutes MINIMUM, assuming you take every opportunity to attack them. That is absurd. Especially with Fang and Dark Dragon who have instant-kill moves with Fang having, what, two of them (three if you count the head slam making pits)?
The one exception is the Press Factory Act 2 boss. That one's pretty good and he can stay.
Let's look at another game. Sonic Rush had bosses like this where you had to wait around for a chance to hit them, and those bosses all suck. Now take those bosses and put them in the actual stage instead of their own act. Makes me never want to replay these stages again. Which sucks, because these stages are pretty good.
The good news is that Time Attack only contains the stage and cuts out the boss fights. Makes the stages so much more enjoyable. The problem is that you can't use the emerald powers. I never really used them, so it's not that big of a deal for me? Still, it's something.
In short, I think Superstars has B+ level design, but the bosses drag them down to, like, a C- on repeat playthroughs. I just don't want to do these endurance rounds again. Once is enough. Especial Dark Dragon. Never touching that thing again.
---
Actually, you know what? Let's talk about Dark Dragon specifically. It's the Super Sonic boss, so you have your 50-ring timer. It's a free-movement kind of fight like Egg Reverie and you also have the dash attack that costs rings. Sounds fine on paper, since Egg Reverie was pretty good.
Well, he's a Superstars boss, so he has lots of downtime between attacks and you can't always hit him. So he's wasting not just your physical time in the real world, but also your rings. Rings are also nowhere near as plentiful as Egg Reverie, so you'll be lucky to get a ring count over 50.
He also has two phases with each I think taking 8 hits to beat.
Phase 1 has a meteor move that you need to kind of be lucky to have an opportunity to hit with since the meteors you can hit him with can be off-screen in a random direction with no indication on what side it'll fall since its indicator is the blue light it'll fall in.
He also has a blue crystal move that just wastes time since you're Super Sonic and don't get damaged.
He also has a move where he slowly moves across the screen multiple times that just wastes time since you're Super Sonic and don't get damaged.
He also has a sidescrolling black hole attack that has an instant kill mechanic if you don't dash out fast enough. You can kind of influence where they'll be, but I wouldn't count on it. This is the only other time you can hit him in phase 1, and it'll be the only way you can damage him in the later parts of the phase.
Then there's phase 2. No ring refresh, so you're keeping what you have.
It has one attack where he swipes at you, kind of like Time Eater, but you can damage his hand after the swipe ends. A use for the dash, I guess? It's not reliable at all to hit, and I usually do it on accident when trying to gather rings.
Then there's a move where he sends a wave of energy at the screen with a blind spot you need to fly to to not not get damaged since you're Super Sonic. It's faster than the other two non-damagable moves in phase 1, so it's not TOO bad?
Then there's the sidescrolling attack which is a fireball he lines up to shoot at you. It's easier than the black hole attack in phase 1 which confuses me, but I won't complain. Feels like an attack something like Egg Salamander or 3DS Time Eater would use.
Then there's the final segment which has a new mechanic where you need to time a homing attack by lining up a shrinking reticle. It's awful and, from my experience, hardly works. Then he uses a laser move you need to dodge for an amount of time. 10 seconds or so? Then you line up one more reticle to finish the fight.
That final segment doesn't give you floating rings and the only ones you can get are from your friends who periodically fly across the screen, so you'd better hope you have enough when this part starts. Awful final boss, never doing it again.
Or maybe it was some higher-than-60fps bullshit going on since I was having so many problems last night, but after capping the framerate to 60 this morning after learning the game doesn't play with higher framerates, I beat it first try, so who knows, maybe fps affects more to the fight than the reticle bullshit seemingly is.
---
Overall, if I never have to touch the bosses again, Superstars is up there with the better games in the series. Around CD and 1 with the other A-tier games for me, probably. With them, though? Ugh, I'm not sure. Low-B, maybe high C? The bosses really drag the game down.

Dragon Quest V - Victory!
On September 24, 2023, I beat DQV. I started this save on the Android version in 2019. I managed to beat Nimzo on my first attempt! My strategy:
I prioritized abilities that can be used without spending MP and items with infinite uses. That meant I mostly used monsters on my team, although I did have at least one twin all the time, so I still got lots of party chat. For most battles including bosses, I only used four party members, although I did utilize all 8 during the final battle. My mainstays:
Ryuka the Hero (LV:37) with Pankraz's sword, Pallium Regale, Ogre shield, Meteorite bracer, and Elfin charm. Mostly physical attacks and reviving with Zing and Kerplunk. I did cast Kaswoosh a few times. Due to my carelessness I had to Kerplunk him early on in the second phase, and he remained dead for most of the fight lol.
"Harry " the Hero's Son (LV:34) with Zenithian Sword, Zenithian Armour, Zenithian Shield, and Iron helmet. Physical attacks and some Kazap, while rationing MP for a few key heals and Kazing. The Zenithian Sword itself is critical for removing magic like Bounce from enemies, although I used that more against Bjorn than Nimzo.
Harriet the Hero's Daughter (LV:31) with Faerie foil, Princess's robe, Scale shield, Happy hat, Circle of Life, Circle of Water, and Dragon staff. Yes, I only used her to cast Puff! with the Dragon staff. I kept her in the wagon until very late in the game, so she was a bit under-leveled for a while. In my defense, Puff! worked great and she's immune to fire breath attacks while transformed into a dragon, which is useful since almost all the bosses seem to use them. I think she got in a few Kacrackles as well.
Goodian the Slime knight (LV:37) with Steel broadsword, Spiked armour, Dark shield, Hardwood headwear, Magma staff, and Sage's stone. I would have him cast Boom on normal enemies, but for big bosses he was the healer. He was pretty fast and couldn't be killed in one hit. Obviously the Sage's stone was a goddess-send; with him healing everyone a little bit every turn, I used relatively few healing spells. I think he also had an Elfin elixir which I used on the Hero's Son and the Yggdrasil dew. The Magma staff doesn't do very much damage, but better than his physical attack while saving MP.
The rest of the party sat totally neglected in the wagon, biding their time and gaining experience points. I was afraid they'd be useless in the final battle, but they proved me wrong. The cavalry:
Mason the Golem (LV:20) with Double-edged sword, Zombie mail, Iron shield, and Hades' helm. You get the Double-edged sword not long before the final battle, and I equipped it to my Golem as an afterthought. It worked AMAZINGLY WELL. Between the Golem's high defense and health, Meditation skill, and Focus Strength skill, the damage dealt far outweighed the recoil. And skills don't cost MP! A surprise heavy-hitter, I think he probably did the most damage out of everyone besides maybe the Hero's Son.
Kim the Chimaera (LV:25) with Cobra claw, Dark robe, and Hermes' hat. Mostly I took her out only to Multiheal, but her Freezing Blizzard skill also came in handy (for the low cost of 0 MP).
Mohicat the Great Sabrecat (LV:32) with Orichalcum fangs, Leather kilt, Iron helmet, and Bianca's ribbon. I hadn't focused on his build at all, so I was a bit worried about his defense, but thanks to his speed and luck he stayed alive for a decently long time. Just Focus Strength and attack.
Drongo the Drag-goof (LV:16) with Iron cuirass and Top hat. He was one of my main party members until I replaced him with a better dragon... the Hero's Daughter. Flame Breath nonstop.
Tumblr media
I did find it funny that the Hero's family were widely celebrated for defeating Nimzo and not the good, honest, hard-working monsters. After all that fighting, it's time for the victory celebration!

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin - Finished 02/03/2023
Tumblr media
And that finishes off the first four FromSoft Soulslike games! I will say that even though the main reason I went from Dark Souls 1 to Bloodborne was the fact that I did not own Dark Souls 2 at that point, I will also admit that there was a personal aversion that put me off playing it as well. Hearing it was the weakest Soulslike game for the longest time and how it learnt all the wrong lessons from the first game definitely effected how I went into it, but after Bloodborne I was excited for anything that resembled the first Dark Souls so after playing it... I don’t hate it, but at the same time I can’t say those previous sentiments were wrong.
I think you can definitely tell this is the game where FromSoft let the “Dark Souls hard” marketing really get to them, cuz MAN this game fucking prides itself on being difficult to a ridiculous degree. I’d say the other games were difficult but the main difficulty came from periodic spikes or specific areas that were either hard to navigate or deliberately contained all the hardest enemies. This game is hard throughout. It’s the only FromSoft Soulslike game I’d honestly put up there as one of the hardest games I’ve ever played because of how absolutely relentless it is. The bosses aren’t harder but everything else is, especially the levels, with enemy placements everywhere, often put in tight corridors requiring you to fight them (I will say from what I’ve heard SotFS is worse than the original in this regard), meaning that the swerves and the fun of learning to traverse areas to get to bosses is greatly harmed. It can definitely lead to some funny moments but like the rest of this game the joke doesn’t land as well when it’s repeated so many times.
I’m sounding a bit mean here, I do think there were a lot of decisions here that were made to improve upon the DS1, but they seem extremely misguided at best. Most obvious one is how the Hollow mechanic works, slowly losing your health the more you die until you either get to a certain ring equip in the game or use an effigy item, which are limited unless you’re willing to grind at the cost of either constantly invading others games or making all the enemies around a certain bonfire harder. I can see what they were TRYING to do with this, especially when you consider the “adaptive difficulty” mechanic of less enemies appearing the more you spawn into a certain area (also likely a way to deter players from grinding a certain point), but not only does it feel unnecessary, it feels like it does the exact opposite of what it’s set out to do, often making a lot of fights feel like races against the clock, meaning if you’re not operating on the games own logical pacing you’re likely fucked, which is probably one of the least desirable things you can have in a Souls game.
There are many other issues, a lot of which have been talked about to death. Bosses are mostly copy-pasted either from Dark Souls 1 or they’re reused again and again later on, the areas aren’t that memorable in comparison to the other games and don’t match up at all thematically, characters are all cardboard save for two of them, the adaptability stat even existing in the first place, and the weapon durability system is completely broken and nonsensical. Yet despite all of that... I’d still say this game is okay. Not even bad, just okay. There are some good ideas in here that I really like, Burnt Ivory King is at least in the top 5 FromSoft bosses I’ve fought, the builds are still customizable and arguably, even more, engaging this time around thanks to power-stancing, and there are plenty of gimmicks that, while not always working end up being at the very least engaging or adding a little extra to what might be a forgettable area. And again, the game seems to have a nice humour about itself. I think it says something that I still went through and beat every boss in this game, despite it easily being the longest. The fundamentals of the game are still that solid. I think people forget that even the game’s biggest detractors at launch still had fun with the game, and there’s a lot of fun to be had! If you weren’t in love with the Souls formula at this point this game isn’t gonna win you over, but I still enjoyed my time with a good chunk of it. I don’t think it’s really on the same level as the first game like its biggest defenders would let you believe, but enough is there to have a good time and enjoy at least a little of the process of a B-Team be in the dark. Plus a lot of issues I have with it I could easily see people being invested in and enjoying those aspects of the game! I don’t think it’s a net negative at all in that regard, I can see the appeal very easily here. Dark Souls II, while I would definitely call it a step-down, I think earns its own reputation, despite whatever people might think of it. Not for everyone (hell, not even really for ME), and a bit of a gruelling mess, but hey it’s a gruelling mess that also somehow manages to be an entertaining mess. I think that’s at least something.

Not the best option, but there's no getting around it. The fuel ran out - wait an hour while refueling, bought a new car - wait another half hour until it is delivered from the dealer to your garage. On everything that is possible, fastened by time limiters. Golda can be spent on more valuable buns - airbrushing and rare cars. Gold earned throughout the game, I do not advise you to spend skipping this time, because it is hard to earn. You can pour a few coins and not wait for delivery - it will end instantly. The delivery of each spare part takes a certain time. She will not make you bored, she will not sleep at the time of the race, but if you do tuning.

At the beginning of the game you will be given a certain amount of money to buy your first car, which you have to upgrade and tune. It seems to sound easy, but each segment requires its own tactics. It's also very easy to add things to a digital product.Developer / Publisher: NaturalMotion Games The beauty of downloadable games is that they cost nothing to distribute so they can be given away for free. "Modern consumers demand flexibility in how they pay for and consume products. I'd liken it to pay-as-you-go mobile phones. Micro-transaction-driven games give us the opportunity to choose what games we pay for and how much we pay. That's why the second-hand games market is so popular and why some people justify piracy. "Personally I'm tired of spending £40 on a game and then realising I only want to play it for a couple of hours," he said. It's all about offering people a choice."Īvent said the current shift towards micro-transaction driven games is the result of a demand from gamers for flexibility in how they pay for games. I could buy some £1.99 shades from a street-seller or I could spend £100 on some nice Ray Bans. These kind of choices occur in real life all the time. If you're really into it though you can buy all the cool stuff and show off to your friends.

You can play CSR Racing forever for free if you want to. It's never compulsory to pay though and I think that's key. However payment does fit in neatly where it's appropriate. Relatively few of these actually mention money. "We have a lot of reminders in the game that help to keep you on the right track and progress. "As long as you consider monetisation up-front then I don't think it harms the game design," he replied. Hookshot then asked Avent whether he thought CSR Racing's style of monetisation harmed the game design. This design fits with the play patterns of people on the move. The short-sharp play sessions mean that you're happy to come back and have another go. At that point you can either pay for Gas or leave the game to recharge. "The 'Gas' mechanic provides a reprieve for a natural break. It feels satisfying to have goals and meet them regularly. The interface is slick and so it's easy to enter into a state of Flow playing the game. This repeats until you can beat a crew member and ultimately the crew bosses. "You race, upgrade your car and then race some more. "The game has a tight 30-second play loop," Avent explained. I was very angry to see that CSR Racing developer taking money from me every single breath."ĬSR Racing developer Jason Avent, now of Boss Alien, formerly of Split/Second and Pure developer Black Rock, told our friends at Hookshot Inc that the game's gas mechanic "provides a reprieve for a natural break". Final Fantasy Record Keeper 6-Star Magicites Campaign
The Final Fantasy Record Keeper (FFRK) mobile game just released a new campaign which will give players 1 Realm/Elemental x11 ticket after they clear a 6-star Magicite Dungeon fight.
Tumblr media
You get 1 ticket for each 6-star you beat. There are 8 6-star Magicite bosses so you can get a total of 8 tickets as long as you can beat them all.
6-star Magicite Dungeons
The 6-star Magicite fights are quest level 550. There are 8 bosses but each boss is weak to either physical or magical attacks. Beating each form of the boss will give you separate rewards.
Before this campaign that gives us tickets showed up, I’d already beaten a few of the 6-star Magicite bosses.
Anyway, this campaign also includes a mission that requires players to “activate Overdrive and master a 6-star Magicite Dungeon”. The reward for completing this is 5 mythril.
Activating Overdrive in a 6-star Magicite Dungeon will cost 5 mythril. Doing this will give your party a number of buffs such as being able to start the fight with 2 Soul Break gauges.
A similar mission showed up before. IIRC, it didn’t specify activating Overdrive on a 6-star Magicite fight. It just wanted you to win a Magicite fight using Overdrive.
The physical-weak version of Shiva, the 6-star Ice Magicite boss who’s weak to the fire element, was the very first 6-star boss I defeated.
Decided it was best to activate Overdrive for this fight since my physical fire team was pretty stacked so at least I could be sure I’d be able to win and won’t end up losing 5 mythril.
Tumblr media
Was also interested in seeing if I could auto the Shiva fight with Overdrive. Well, it worked but there’s definitely lots of room for improvement.
Anyway, for this new Overdrive mission - as it turned out, if you already have Overdrive on a 6-star fight, you can just do that fight again with Overdrive turned on (once activated, Overdrive can be turned on or off without having to pay 5 mythril again) and you’ll get the 5 mythril reward once you win.
Alternatively, you could choose to activate Overdrive on another 6-star fight but I opted not to so I could get 5 more mythril.
Besides, needed to beat a Shiva fight for the ticket anyway so might as well do it on Overdrive and on auto. Got the win although still looking into improving my auto setup some more.
Of course, Genesis Rhapsodos from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII was part of my team as my main and primary DPS. Currently, he’s my absolute, most favorite Final Fantasy char. He’s the reason why I’m playing Final Fantasy Record Keeper (#ad).
Tumblr media
The rest of Genesis’s teammates were Elarra from Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Vincent Valentine from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII, Lenna Charlotte Tycoon from Final Fantasy V, and Balthier (Ffamran mied Bunansa) from Final Fantasy XII.
Aside from Shiva, the other 6-stars that I’d been able to beat before this ticket campaign showed up were the following:
Titan
Physical and wind-weak. My team before consisted of Zack Fair from Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Angeal Hewley from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Vaan from Final Fantasy XII, Tyro from Final Fantasy Record Keeper, and Elarra.
Now I decided to try this fight with Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII. Replaced Angeal with him. Have basically all of Cloud’s wind tech and he’s too freaking OP for words so Titan went down in no time.
Tumblr media
Ifrit
Physical and water-weak. Hated this fight before. Still hate it now. My water tech is really lacking so it always took me a while before I could beat Ifrit.
It doesn’t help at all that he has lots of annoying mechanics and can hit pretty hard so there were times wherein I’d end up making a mistake and have to restart the fight.
My team before consisted of Yuffie Kisaragi from Final Fantasy VII, Tidus from Final Fantasy X, Tyro, Elarra, and Aeris or Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII.
Tumblr media
My water tech is so lacking that I had to resort to running 2 healers and 1 support. Don’t even have Synchro Arcane Soul Breaks (SASB) for Yuffie and Tidus.
Thankfully, Ifrit’s mechanics made it more feasible to run with 2 healers since he deals a lot of damage and he even brings several add-ons with him that you need to get rid of or else.
For the mission now, used the same team although I replaced Aerith with Lenna since I have more tech for the latter.
Even have her Hero Ability, Tycoon Cure. Plus, she can equip the Dancer ability Passionate Salsa, which debuffs enemies and heals the party.
Alexander
Physical and dark-weak. Also has annoying gimmicks. If you deal too much damage in one phase, you’d get ejected in another. But if you don’t deal enough damage, you can also get ejected.
My physical dark tech is also pretty lacking. However, I do have Sephiroth’s (from Final Fantasy VII) dark tech.
He’s as OP as Cloud but for the dark element so he was more than enough to solo Alexander as long as he has the appropriate supports and buffs. IIRC, had his Sync and dark AASB and his Zanshin USB when I did this fight before.
Tumblr media
His teammates were Garland (from Final Fantasy I) to imperil the dark element to boost Sephi’s damage, Elarra and Tyro for their buffs, and Aerith for her healing.
Also have Garland’s dark Chain Soul Break (CSB) which is basically the same as the Roaming Warrior Chain a.k.a both suck but either worked well enough when combined with all the other buffs and supports and imperils.
Now, my team was basically still the same except I replaced Aerith for Lenna. I also now have even more of Sephi’s dark tech, including his True Arcane Soul Break (TASB) or Arcane Dyad Soul Break (ADSB).
Tumblr media
Diabolos
Magical and holy-weak. Also has annoying gimmicks. My magical holy tech was also pretty lacking but I do have Rem Tokimiya from Final Fantasy Type-0.
She’s like Sephi but for the holy element. Which means that, yeah, she basically soloed Diabolos with the help of lots of supports and buffs.
My team before was Rem, Yuna from Final Fantasy X, Cait Sith from Final Fantasy VII, Tyro, and either Elarra, Aerith or Deuce from Final Fantasy Type-0.
Yuna has a pretty good holy Chain and she also helped imperil the holy element.
Cait Sith is the premier support for magical and mind-based mages. Back then, I was missing his Sync but his Awakened Arcane Soul Break (AASB) was more than enough for Diabolos.
Now my team was Rem, Yuna, Cait Sith, Tyro, and Lenna.
Valefor
Physical and ice-weak. Also has - yeah, most of the 6-stars have annoying gimmicks.
Even Shiva has them but since my fire team was pretty stacked, could basically just ignore those gimmicks and rush her down.
My Valefor team before consisted of Squall Leonhart from Final Fantasy VIII, Laguna Loire from Final Fantasy VIII, Tyro, Elarra, and Celes Chere from Final Fantasy VI.
My relics for Squall includes his fire AASB, ice AASB, and ice Sync. For Laguna, only had one of his AASBs. For Celes, have her ice Chain Soul Break and her ice Sync.
Now my team was the same except I dropped Celes for Delita Heiral from Final Fantasy Tactics. Have his AASB and Sync so decided to just use the Roaming Warrior ice Chain. For Laguna, also ended up getting his other AASB.
6-star Lightning Magicite, Ramuh
Ramuh was one of the 6-star Magicite fights I had yet to do. He’s weak to the earth element.
My earth tech was pretty lacking back then so decided to hold off on doing this fight. Well, it’s still not exactly the best now but it did improve a bit when compared to before. Either way, had to try the fight if I wanted to get the tickets.
Chose to try taking on the magical-weak version of Ramuh since I wanted to try out Enna Kros from World of Final Fantasy after getting her Sync. Actually made her Hero Ability and completed her Record Board.
So my team for this fight was:
Tumblr media
Rydia from Final Fantasy IV
Only have her earth Sync and 2 of her Glint+ Soul Breaks so she served as my secondary DPS. Wish I could get her other tech like her Awakenings. Aside from magical earth, she also has magical water relics.
Had her equipped with the Summoning abilities Brothers and Valigarmanda. Just spammed the latter until she could cast her Sync then had her spam Brothers. She did pretty well.
Cait Sith from Final Fantasy VII
Having Cait Sith around really helps boost my magical teams. So glad I was able to get his relics. Since getting his Awakening, he’s always been part of my magical teams.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I wish I could get some premier physical supports too. Would really love to further boost my fave Genesis’s damage. Sure, Tyro works well enough but I don’t even have all his tech.
Anyway, had Cait equipped with Joyful Dance, his Hero Ability, and Allegro con Moto, a 6-star Bard ability. Just had him spam both, alternating between them until he could cast his AASB whereupon he resumed spamming both abilities.
Red XIII from Final Fantasy VII
Have a few of his relics, including his magical earth Chain Soul Break and his AASB. His Chain’s good. It’s one of the better earth Chains out there.
Tumblr media
Had him equipped with Wrath and Chain Stoneja. He spammed Wrath until he could cast his Chain. Made sure to time it so that the Chain was up while Enna Kros was under the effects of her BDL relics.
When he had extra gauges, had him cast his Awakening then spam Chain Stoneja. He did pretty well. Wish I could get his Sync too. Heard it was really good. Besides, I could always use more earth tech.
Lenna Charlotte Tycoon from Final Fantasy V
Once again, Lenna served as my healer. She’s equipped with Tycoon Cure, her Hero Ability, and Passionate Salsa, a 6-star Dancer ability.
She has the Record Materia that lets her start a fight with 2 Soul Break gauges so had her cast her AASB2 from the get-go.
Then she just interchanged between her equipped abilities until I had enough gauges to cast her other Soul Breaks.
With Cait Sith also being able to heal, there wasn’t much issue in keeping everyone alive even without Tyro around to Entrust his gauges to Lenna so she could spam her healing relics.
Enna Kros from World of Final Fantasy
Served as my main and primary magical earth DPS. Only have her Sync and Awakening. Hopefully, I can get her other stuff soon but at least I already have her most important relics.
I could get some of her relics from the The Record Lab but decided to hold off on doing so for now. Aside from her Hero Ability, The World’s Rules, she’s also equipped with Meltdown.
Had her spam Meltdown until she could cast her Awakening. Then she spammed The World’s Rules until the effects of her AASB ran out. Cast her Sync then went back to spamming her Hero Ability. She did very well. Glad I was able to get her tech.
For my Magicite deck, I have the following:
Odin (Ultra Magic) - Lord’s Seal: Ice Level 15, Blade Ward, and Spell Ward
Titan - 2 Empower Earth
Madeen - Health Boon and Fast Act
Madeen - 2 Magic Boon
Shiva - Health Boon and Healing Boon
The first time I fought against Ramuh with this team, Enna Kros was in slot 3 and she ended up dying to Ramuh’s Chain Thundaga attack on turn 3.
All my chars were also in the front row. So before trying again, I moved them all to the rear row and switched Enna’s and Red’s positions so that Red XIII was now in slot 3.
Red XIII has his Hero Equipment although they weren’t all at max level. He still had the highest HP in this team so I thought he should be able to survive just fine.
So tried the fight again and also made sure to have Cait use Joyful Dance and have Lenna use Tycoon Cure.
Tumblr media
Red XIII took some HP damage in the first 2 turns but the heals from Lenna and Cait brought him back to full health or what appeared to be max health anyway.
It looked like his HP bar was full so was confused and annoyed when he still ended up dying to Chain Thundaga on turn 3. It looked like the attack only dealt like 4k damage and Red had more than 11k HP so wasn’t sure how he could be dying to this move.
Looked up Chain Thundaga’s effect and it seems that it hits 4 times. Honestly though, didn’t really see it on the game itself. It really looked like it only dealt 4k damage. Very annoying, not to mention frustrating.
Next try, had Red use Wrath first. The next time he got to move, had him use Defend. This allowed him to survive the Chain Thundaga attack. After that, it was smooth sailing from there.
Ramuh has some annoying gimmicks too but didn’t really see them or notice them. Once I was able to cast everyone’s Soul Breaks, Ramuh went down soon enough. Even managed to sub-30 the fight - got the win at 25.34 seconds.
Lightning Relics List
With Ramuh down, only have Leviathan to go so I could get all the rewards from the Magicite campaign. Leviathan is the 6-star Magicite who’s weak to the lightning element.
My lightning tech is really lacking. Let’s see. Here’s a list of my best lightning relics a.k.a the chars who have either a Chain, Awakening, and/or Sync:
Palom from Final Fantasy IV - have his magical lightning AASB, his Glint+ Soul Break, and his Burst Soul Break (BSB)
Shelke Rui from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII - have her physical lightning AASB, her physical lightning Chain Soul Break, and her Glint Soul Break
Shantotto from Final Fantasy XI - have one of her magical lightning Chain Soul Breaks, her TASB, her Limit Break Overstrike (LBO) or Limit Break Over Flow (LBOF), and her Ultra Soul Break (USB)
Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca from Final Fantasy XII - only reason I’m bothering to list her is because I have her TASB but since that’s the only thing I have for her, she’s useless
Y’shtola Rhul from Final Fantasy XIV - have her magical fire, ice, lightning, and dark Sync and one of her healing USBs
Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV - the only “lightning” relic that he has that I have is his Awakening. His Awoken Lucian King Mode gives him unlimited uses of fire, earth, and lightning abilities but he doesn’t get any elemental infusion from this so not sure how well he’d work on a physical lightning team with just this. Well, his AOSB also deals lightning damage so there’s that, but still
Aranea Highwind from Final Fantasy XV - have her physical lightning AASB, one of her Ultras, and her Overstrike Soul Break (OSB)
Rapha Galthena from Final Fantasy Tactics - only have her magical lightning AASB
Delita Heiral from Final Fantasy Tactics - have his Sync, AASB, BSB and one of his Ultras. His elements are physical holy, fire, lightning, and ice
Queen from Final Fantasy Type-0 - have her physical lightning Chain Soul Break and her BSB
Prompto Argentum from Final Fantasy XV - have his physical lightning AASB, Sync, Chain, one of his Glint+ Soul Breaks, and one of his BSBs
If I separate them between physical and magical lightning, then I get this:
Magical lightning -
Palom AASB
Shantotto Chain, TASB
Ashe TASB
Y’shtola Sync
Rapha AASB
Physical lightning
Shelke AASB, Chain
Noctis AASB
Aranea AASB
Delita AASB, Sync
Queen Chain
Prompto Chain, AASB, Sync
Thanks to Prompto and Delita, my physical lightning tech seems a bit more promising. My physical lightning Chains are also very good whereas the Chain I have for Shantotto is the one that’s basically similar to the Roaming Warrior Chain.
Final Fantasy XIII Realm Banner
Before taking on Leviathan, I was hoping to improve my lightning team a bit more. Delita’s good as a DPS but Prompto seems more like a support. I felt like I really needed another solid DPS to help me out.
One of the best physical lightning DPS was Lightning (Claire Farron) from Final Fantasy XIII so I found myself eying the Final Fantasy XIII Realm banner.
Tumblr media
Would love to get all her lightning tech, specifically her AASB and Sync. I’d also love to be able to obtain her holy Sync because I already have her holy AASB and USB. She’s actually part of my physical holy team.
There were also plenty of other relics on this banner that I didn’t have yet and could be of use to me so that’s how I found myself on the Final Fantasy XIII Realm banner.
Used one of my tickets, hoping for Lightning’s Sync and AASB for the lightning element. Her holy Sync was welcome too but I really need lightning tech right now so I could take on Leviathan.
Got 1 rainbow orb and 2 disco orbs, which seemed promising at first but then Dr. Mog didn’t even show up.
Ended up with 2 dupes which was very disappointing. I’m missing lots of relics on this banner. Wish I could have gotten new stuff instead of 2 useless dupes.
At least the third item was new. Unfortunately, it wasn’t gonna help me with Leviathan.
Tumblr media
Got Cid Raines’s (from Final Fantasy XIII) AASB, Angel of Doom. It’s for the magical dark element. At least it’s new and, AFAIK, this is my first magical dark AASB so that’s nice.
But I hardly have any magical dark tech so it’s not like I’ll be able to use this right now until I can get more dark tech. Plus, IIRC, this is my first relic for Cid.
Glad I at least got one new Soul Break and an Awakening at that. Nevertheless, this pull was kinda crappy and felt like a waste.
Tumblr media
6-star Magicite, Leviathan
Decided to see if I could take on physical-weak Leviathan with my current relics so I could get back to pulling on the Final Fantasy XV Realm banner with my remaining tickets.
Had Delita as my main DPS. He’s equipped with his Hero Ability and Omega Drive.
Prompto was my secondary DPS and he’s equipped with his Hero Ability and Plasma Shock. The latter was only at Rank 3 of 5 though which gives it a total of 6 uses as opposed to 10 if it was at max rank.
I brought Queen to be my Chain holder and she’s equipped with a Rank 4 Flash Disaster and a Rank 5 Banishing Strike.
Had Tyro with Wrath and Entrust as usual to be my support. Lenna was my healer with her Hero Ability and Passionate Salsa.
The first time I tried this fight, Delita was on slot 1. He should have been anywhere but there because he ended up dying to the Doom debuff.
When the fight began, everyone was automatically afflicted with a 45s Doom debuff. But Leviathan kept on using moves that would decrease the Doom counter.
Tumblr media
On turn 8, Leviathan used Curse of the Deep which brought Delita’s Doom counter to 5s since he was on slot 1.
Prior to that happening, I just cast his Sync and he was dealing pretty good damage boosted by Queen’s Chain, the Roaming Warrior that increases Attack, and Tyro’s USB4 which increases critical hit chance.
Delita died to Doom before the effects of his Sync ran out. What a waste. Had to resurrect him with Lenna’s AASB1. Used his AASB once he had enough bars to cast it.
For Prompto, I cast his AASB first but was disappointed when he couldn’t even break the damage cap while under its effects. When I cast his Sync later on though, he was able to break the damage cap with it.
Unfortunately, couldn’t get the win. When Delita was resurrected, he got a new Doom counter.
The Doom counters of the others kept on going down but I had no way to bring them back anymore. They started dying until only Delita was left. Then he too died. Leviathan still had 28.1% HP left.
Tumblr media
Hopefully, I’ll be able to get the win after moving the positions of my chars around. Not to mention fixing my Magicite deck. Just checked and it looks like what I ended up bringing to this fight were the following:
Odin (Ultra Attack) - Lord’s Seal: Ice Level 15, Blade Ward, and Spell Ward
Diabolos - 2 Empower Dark
Madeen - Health Boon and Fast Act
Madeen - 2 Deadly Strikes
Alexander - Health Boon and Healing Boon
Welp, no wonder Prompto was hitting like a wet noodle. Forgot to change my Magicite deck. Should have had Empower Lightning, not Empower Dark. At least my Madeens and Odin were set for physical teams.
Tried the Leviathan fight again after fixing my Magicite deck. I now have the following:
Odin (Ultra Attack) - Lord’s Seal: Ice Level 15, Blade Ward, and Spell Ward
Ramuh - 2 Empower Lightning
Madeen - Health Boon and Fast Act
Madeen - 2 Deadly Strikes
Level 65/65 Leviathan
After beating a Dark Odin fight, you get a set of 6-star Magicites that were all at Level 65 of 65. Leviathan needed to be at Level 99 before I could inherit anything to it.
I still brought it along anyway though because it does have a Level 10 of 15 Imperial Blessing. This increases damage dealt in the Leviathan fight. It also reduces damage taken from certain attacks in the Levi fight. It increases water damage too but that wasn’t relevant for this team.
Anyway, so I also moved Delita to slot 2. Put Tyro in slot 1 then started the fight. Things went much better this time. Both Delita and Prompto did pretty good damage.
Since Tyro was now in slot 1, he was the one who ended up dying. Didn’t resurrect him right away though. Decided to wait until other chars died before using Lenna’s Awakening.
Tumblr media
Fight still went well even wih Tyro currently out of commission. Was trying to hurry and finish it ASAP already since everyone’s Doom counters kept on going down. Thankfully, was eventually able to get the win.
Wasn’t able to get the sub-30 since the fight ended at 32.83s but it’s fine. Just glad I was able to win even with my lightning team still pretty lacking. Also the fight ended before I had the chance to use Lenna’s AASB so didn’t get to resurrect Tyro.
Realm/Elemental x11 Tickets
My plan was to throw 2 of the Realm/Elemental x11 tickets I just got from completing all the Magicite missions at the Final Fantasy XV Realm banner. I talk about what I did with the other tickets on another post.
The first ticket turned out to be really, really disappointing. All I got was yet another dupe of Aranea’s USB. Ugh. How many times have I gotten this thing? So freaking sick of seeing this red bracer.
Tumblr media
Was so pissed and disappointed that I decided to use my last ticket on the Final Fantasy XIII Realm banner instead. Was hoping for something good but got 1/11 again.
To make matters worse, didn’t even get a 6-star item. Instead, all I got was a 5-star Burst Soul Break (BSB) that belongs to Serah Farron from Final Fantasy XIII.
Tumblr media
It’s new but was still utterly disappointed anyway since BSBs have been powercrept by now. Wish I could have at least gotten a 6-star. Sigh.
Conclusion
So what about you? Have you done any of the 6-star Magicite fights yet? Which teams did you use to take on these bosses? What do you think about these battles and their gimmicks? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment below or by reblogging or replying to this post.

yakuza 4 thoughts
I forgot to cross post my entries from my DW acc. Well, if it shows something, it’s that using three different blogs to post the same thing was a bad idea. I just don’t know which platform would be best for me. I think a lot about deleting DW and now I am contemplating it again lol (and I’ve already done that once!)
Anyway, the point isn’t my choosing problem. The point is that I finally finished Yakuza 4!
If it’s not apparent enough, Yakuza 3 was probably my favorite to play in the series. I had just finished off 2′s bonkers story and was more than enthusiastic to slip right into seeing Kiryu bonding with the kids in the orphanage. It was everything I dreamed of. The combat was so much fun. Revelations were an excellent addition and getting them was very fun also.
Not sure if it's because how much enamored I was with 3 that caused me not to fall back into the series with 4 soon, or the fact that I wanted to play the other games I wanted to inbetween, but it took me like 6 months to play this one. I had only started playing DMC3 then but that game was hard af, so I wanted to check if my potato PC could run Y4 - turns out, it struggles big time. First day, I played with the settings to get it to working and voila, hello, Akiyama-san.
I then (for no reason at all) went to play Splinter Cell and that was the biggest mistake of my life. Because I absolutely loved it. And couldn't think of any other game until I finished it around 10 days (hey, I suck). Anyway, that already has its own entry so I won't talk about it again. Then, I finished DMC3 and then finally went back into Y4 almost a month later again.
It didn't take me long to find out the problems with the excessive RAM usage this game is guilty for. The problem gets especially apparent once you get to the hostess clubs. It costs me two loading screen being stuck for me to finally understand that it wasn't because of my PC...
The different protagonists aspect of the gameplay is, well, interesting. But for my dumb brain, every time I got used to one fighting style, it changed and I was back to square one :D But that's on me, so not pointing fingers at the game here. BUT I WANTED TO PLAY WITH MY MANS so waiting to get to Kiryu was very challenging lmfao. I loved playing as Saejima since it reminded me of my favorite style to use while playing as Kiryu in Y0, the Beast style. I can see they got many of his heat actions and movement being slow, stuff like that, from Saejima's fighting style in this game.
Playing as Tanimura was my least favorite and while I didn't really have any problems with his arc or whatever, it wasn't fun to play at all. Same as Akiyama, but Akiyama at least has some more heat actions. Also... even though I completed all of Tanimura's substories (except for the hostess club one with the Mars Fighter) it didn't really affect his health bar, which made it really hard to beat his final boss. (For comparison: I barely used one health item during all of the final boss fights for Saejima or Akiyama, and probably used like two for Kiryu's, but for Tanimura's I emptied half of my whole item screen.) I'm thinking that I probably should have parried with that foreign detective in Little Asia but I just wanted to get on with this game as quickly as possible.
Now for the music...
I don't think many of them stuck with me, but that isn't to say I didn't like anything. Saejima's fight theme for one, stuck with me immediately. Same thing for this one, although it plays only once in the entire game! As always, the MEB theme was also in this game so I went in there just to listen to it as tradition of mine 😁 Another one is this one that plays in the table tennis minigame. It sounds like it could be from newer Persona games. I honestly think that vocalist is the same.
And the story... ummm??
It was certainly a very story. Don't know how else to describe it. As with the earlier games I played, at first, everything seems so random but then they all come together. But this one felt even cluttier than the rest. I didn't connect with any of the players in this game at all. But uh, that could be something to do with me. Because I rarely get emotional with these type of stuff. (But then again... I felt too connected to Rikiya in Y3 so...? Maybe it is with the story, idk.)
One last thing I'll add is that Saejima should have been able to sing smh! Neither Tanimura or him sings in the karaoke. Saejima doesn't even step inside the mf building!!
So in short... this game didn't really leave any impact on me and I'll probably forget about the story in like days. Actually I finished it last night and I don't even remember much. All I remember is that Kiryu smiled a lot in the later cutscenes during the final chapter so that was nice. I always love seeing him smile :)

Hey, he’s talking about me.

Diloph’s terrible opinions again.
Well, just completed Metroid: Dread.
CHRIST will it be a bit before I replay on Hard Mode.
But I WILL replay it on Hard Mode.
Someday.
#Metroid#Metroid: Dread#Metroid: Dread Spoilers#TL/DR: Diloph is a bad gamer.#DNI: Git Gud crowd thanks. I play games for fun and an okay challenge not as a frustration exercise.#First playthrough impressions: Platforming is good the story is fine (with some hiccups) but the game is punishingly hard#and for some reason playing as Samus you can neither take nor dish out damage even when compared to what I've seen of Fusion.#I'd even say an over reliance on the counter mechanic means basic enemies can stunlock you to death if you play like it's Super.#To say nothing of the absurd contact damage/attack damage that bosses can deal in mere seconds. Brushing against them can cost +2 tanks#and while Samus' speed and movement abilities are at their absolute peak you WILL end up taking hits every time NO exception.#It got to the point where I wasn't satisfied when I finally beat a boss after hammering against them to no avail#it was just: 'Well good riddance. Now that's over I can play a Metroid game- OH GOOD TWIN CHOZO ROBOT SOLDIERS AGAIN.'#And as soon as you got it the reliance on Storm Missiles were absurd. Long long lock on period that dissipates when hit#plus actively holding fire and running away from the boss because that's how the game wants you to play didn't feel very empowering.#Nor was partitioning beams and missiles into different enemy categories and then only having missiles work on bosses.#ON THE POSITIVE SIDE OF THINGS: Good seeing Kraid again and brand new powerups were nice.#Hearing Samus speaking Chozo and having living Chozo speaking was a very memorable experience.#Visual design on Samus' suits (except that very last one you'll see) were top notch.#Traversing terrain was second nature to me so it's DEFINITELY a Metroid game I didn't not know how to move around once.#Samus' absolute UNYIELDING RAGE in the last part of the Raven Beak fight was wonderful. HE WAS HUGE AND HE HAD HUGE GUTS. RIP AND TEAR!#And hell we even got a self-sacrificing X that (I think) restored Samus' DNA to her pre-Fusion self... again... like in Fusion... uh...#And best of all! I can start browsing the Metroid tag again!
