Hello! I've seen a couple snippets of your Dani and Jamie story and I like it a lot! I believe the world needs more cuddling fics and platonic relationships with (hard fought) shared vunerability and all that good stuff 💯
I have a possibly dumb question: I've seen you refer it as a "two aces fic but neither of them is ace", I'm confused what does that mean? (Not the term ace, the whole thing)

i'm so glad you're enjoying the clips i'm posting!! cuddling fics and platonic relationships with hard-fought shared vulnerability are everything to me and i'm so pleased to be able to share this fic with other people who find meaning and joy in it <3
the joke about it being the qpr two aces fic (but neither of them is ace) is about the fact that in the canon of the show, the arrival of dani to the team results in the coaches referring to having "two aces" now, i.e. jamie was their "ace" player (a player that gives them a strong advantage given the position he plays and the skill with which he does) and dani was another ace, and now they had two! and the fandom sort of collectively refers to jamie and dani as "two aces" as a kind of collective nickname. since the fic is about their relationship, and specifically about them deciding to have and figuring out how to have a queerplatonic relationship, i call it the qpr two aces fic! it's funny tho bc i had a post i made about that fic get circulated kind of narrowly but still outside my direct circle and people obviously thought i meant 'two asexuals' which was really funny to me bc in the fic neither of them is portrayed as asexual sldfjk.
(in this particular fic, jamie is written as an aromantic bisexual and dani is Deliberately Nonspecified And Not Really Fussed About It But Definitely Allo-Allo)

Through a Funhouse Mirror
Alenoah Week 2024 Day 6: Amusement Park / Laser Tag
Noah and Alejandro are on an end of year class field trip to the local amusement park. Normally, Alejandro only hangs out with his girlfriend Heather in the popular clique. However, recently Alejandro has integrated himself into Noah's friend group. He's even taken charge as their leader.
He acts the gentleman, but by now Noah knows better. He doesn't have any concrete proof, but he can tell Alejandro despises most of the group. There has to be some reason he's sticking around, but he doesn't quite know what.
He would confront Alejandro, but the eel is always too preoccupied with schmoozing the rest of his friends, and people outside of his immediate friend group. Now is a good of a chance as any.
Alejandro's the one who convinces the group to split off. He insists that it's so everyone can do what they prefer, but Noah can tell it's because he wants to get away from the others. Noah volunteers himself to go with Alejandro since nobody is allowed to be by themselves, and Alejandro obliges. There are benefits to being the only other sane one in the group.
Noah looks for somewhere private to confront Alejandro, and lucks out with the house of mirrors. He tells Alejandro he wants to go in and Alejandro, ever the 'gentleman' agrees.
Noah waits until they're deeper into the maze before he starts being direct with Alejandro about his nature. Alejandro tries denying it. Noah provides rebuttal after rebuttal. The argument keeps getting more and more heated.
Noah's back is to one of the mirrors. He's trying to keep his ground, but he takes another step backward as Alejandro takes one forward. His back is pressed against one of the mirrors.
Without warning, the solid surface begins to shudder. He feels something like a liquid on his back. Nothing seems to be supporting his weight anymore, and he begins to fall backwards. In his desperate attempt to stop his descent, he grabs onto the closest thing in sight: Alejandro.
In his own shock at seeing the mirror ripple, Alejandro is unable to react in time to stop their fall. He passes through the mirror with Noah, and falls on top of the smaller boy.
Noah groans in pain at the fall and at being crushed.
Alejandro quickly stood up to recover from this temporary set back. He's the first to notice that the tacky mirrors from before now loom over the both of them like imposing walls. The floor is much, much too close.
They both hear a chuckle coming from behind him, and turn to see a man the size of an eight-story building looking down at both of them.
After a quick screaming session, they learn that this is a trickster spirit who calls himself Chris. He likes to mess around with mortals from time to time for his own amusement. And man, they just handed themselves on a silver platter.
He offers them a deal. He'll tell them how to return them to their normal size if they can find him again. He'll give them a riddle, then once they figure out where he's talking about, they have to race towards it at their new size to get to him.
Alejandro shows no fear as he does his best to assuage Chris and assure him they can absolutely finish this task for Chris. Noah, however, is pretty peeved about this situation. And oh, does he let Chris know it.
Alejandro tries to get him to stop talking, but one doesn't stop Noah from going off on someone once he's started. Noah has successfully angered Chris, though Alejandro's able to convince Chris NOT to kill them. Chris still wants some punishment though, so he magics their phones away so they can't call or text for help. And he's going to give them the hardest riddle he knows.
Alejandro covers Noah's mouth and agrees to the new terms. Chris gives them the riddle, and leaves in a puff of smoke. It takes everything in Alejandro not to strangle Noah as they get to solving the riddle.
Between their IQ, and Chris not being as smart as he thinks he is, they solve it pretty quickly. It’s the Ferris wheel. They can remember seeing it on the way in. It's in the middle of the park. Full of crowded people. Who can step on them without even trying.
They start making their way over, doing their best to be as stealthy and quick as possible. They'd rather not let anyone else know about this because who knows how any stranger would take it?
Fortunately, they do come across someone that isn't a complete stranger! It's hard to miss Owen in a crowd with how his voice carries. He's getting an absolutely obscene amount of cotton candy.
Noah immediately starts making his way towards his chubby buddy, only for Alejandro to stop him. Noah wants to know what Alejandro's doing, and Alejandro points out that Owen might not be the best person to help them out in their current predicament. He doesn't know how to keep secrets, and isn't aware of his own strength. That is a VERY dangerous combination with both of them being this small.
Noah turns on Alejandro in an instant. Owen's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he's not a complete idiot. He can stop when you ask him to stop something. And not spreading gossip is a different type of secret than one that'd put their lives at risk.
There's no way of knowing if they'd find any of their other classmates who is more 'responsible' and who might, might be willing to help. Owen could be their one chance.
Also. It's Owen. Of course he's going to help them! Plus, the big guy can charge through a crowd if he's highly motivated. Noah's pretty sure saving the lives of two of his friends is high enough motivation. They'd get to that ferris wheel in an instant!
Noah's not going to have Alejandro ruin their best chance of getting back to normal because of some stupid one-sided rivalry with Owen!
"He may squeeze me within an inch of my life, but you know what I'll be? Alive!"
Alejandro still fights to keep Noah from going out to get Owen's attention. He doesn't want anyone to see him like this, especially not that oafish buffoon no matter what Noah says.
Noah tries to wriggle out of Alejandro's grasp, but he loses. Alejandro only lets go after Owen has passed them by. He sighs in relief when he can no longer see Owen, and finally lets Noah go.
Noah starts going off on another tirade against Alejandro when the wind starts to pick up. Nobody else seems to notice, but for them the wind is threatening to buffet them away.
Alejandro crouches down to cling to the boardwalk underneath him for something to hold on. Noah is blown away a couple of feet (relative to his new size) before he's stopped.
Because a stray bit of cotton candy has been blown his way and is now trapping him against the ground.
Alejandro rushes for Noah once the wind has died down. He might be annoyed at Noah for making this more difficult that it needs to be, but that doesn't mean he wishes Noah dead.
He tries digging some of the cotton candy around Noah's face free so Noah can breathe better. Which does work, but it also leads Alejandro to getting cotton candy on him. He's lucky he's strong enough to have pulled his own arms out rather than get stuck himself.
He knows any type of liquid should dissolve this, but how to get some? He looks around to spot a large cup of soda littered on the ground. He runs for it and sighs in relief as he notices that it has a bit remaining. It won't be the most elegant solution, but it will do.
He drags the soda to Noah and jumps onto the cup. Soda sprays out of the straw to douse Noah, freeing him. Noah is coughing and snorting out cotton candy and soda, but he's breathing.
Noah reluctantly thanks Alejandro for the whole, you know, saving his life thing. Alejandro was going to tease Noah about it to get some semblance of familiarity back when he hears an extremely loud bark coming from behind.
He turns to see a large dog behind him.
This is fine. Animals love Alejandro! He has a commanding presence that they admire. They fawn over him. He can tame this beast and convince it they're not chew toys.
Turns out his commanding presence doesn't work when he's smaller than the thing he's trying to command.
The dog reaches down and bites onto the back of Alejandro's shirt. He's shaken about, grasping for anything to free himself, when he hears a familiar voice in a strange tone.
"Here boy!" coos Noah in a cutesty tone Alejandro didn't think was possible. "Drop the disgusting eel and come to me! I've got treats!"
To Alejandro's shock, the dog immediately drops him. He falls to the ground in a heap. The dog eagerly bounds towards Noah and begins to sniff him. The dog licks Noah, mostly for the soda and cotton candy he's drenched in.
"¿Quién eres y qué has hecho con Noah?" Alejandro asks himself as he hears Noah giggle at being licked.
Noah digs into one of the many pockets in his khakis that Alejandro had assumed were just to show off his poor taste in fashion. He digs his hand out with a small plastic bag filled with dog treats.
"Come on boy, let's get you a treat that won't kill you in the long run."
He gets the dog to sit, then lay down. Then begins to climb on top of the dog.
"...You tell no one what just happened, and I'll let you get on Shadow. I don't know if I can get him to go fast, but I can at least get him going in the right direction."
Alejandro knows better to look a gift horse in the mouth, so he puts all thoughts about how cute that was away as he gets atop of the newly dubbed Shadow.
It turns out that Shadow has two speeds: none and all. They both have to cling onto the dog as he bolts through the crowd towards the ferris wheel. They can only hope everyone is so focused on the dog that no one notices the two small humans desperately clinging to its fur.
Shadow takes them a good distance towards the wheel. However, he is a dog. He notices a seagull within his line of sight and begins to chase after it in a different direction. The two of them let go before Shadow can steer them too far off course, and land behind one of the prize booths.
With them being in the back of the booths, they can see a path of relatively safety so long as none of the workers make their way back here. The ferris wheel isn't much farther off. So they begin walking. And talking.
"May I at least ask how you made a dog much larger than us eat out of the palm of your hand?"
"I trained my dog when he was a puppy. I figured it might be the same with another dog no matter the size difference."
"Still, I will admit. That was impressive."
"Huh, so you can give a genuine compliment. Didn't think you had it in you."
"I absolutely do give genuine compliments!"
"If you want to prove you're genuine, tell me the real reason you started befriending Team E-scope."
Alejandro sighs. Because at this point, he's tired, and he already has a piece of blackmail over Noah. If they don't survive this, he might as well get this off his chest.
Alejandro admits that the real reason he wants Noah and his friends at his side is because he needs them to get revenge on Heather for him. He's done his best to keep this out of the gossip circle, but she actually dumped him rather recently. He didn't quite listen to the reason why because she did the dumping instead of him. He can't just let that stand.
He knows 'Team E-scope' and Owen is because he knows they're the most chaotic group among them. He planned to trick them into pranking Heather for him so that he didn't have to get his own hands dirty, and no one would find out the reason he wanted revenge on the first place.
Noah can't help but laugh at Alejandro.
"You seriously went through all of that trouble so we could get back at your ex for you?"
"It's a very elaborate plan!"
"That's why I'm laughing! You did all of that for nothing!"
"Getting back at Heather is not nothing."
"No. That's not what I mean. We would have done it if you just asked."
"...What?"
"Eva hates Heather's guts, Owen's always down for a good prank, Izzy's Izzy, and I love to watch shitty people get their just desserts. You didn't even need to give us a reason. All you had to do was ask us to help you pull a prank on Heather. We'd do it because it'd be funny."
Alejandro has to re-evaluate a lot of assumptions and life decisions that he's made recently.
As they get close to the ferris wheel, they spot Chris walking into one of the carts. They immediately make a run for the cart before the attendant can close the door. They both land on the sticky, popcorn riddled floor at the same time.
Despite this, they each find themselves alone with Chris.
He spends the first few minutes laughing at them, confessing to having watched them the entire time. Then he says to each that he can tell them how to get back to normal, but there’s no guarantee it’ll work and they’re almost out of time. He can un shrink one of them right now, guaranteed. …But in return, they have to give up the other to Chris as an entertainment piece. The other will be fine! Mostly. They’ll be big again at least.
Once he gets the consent he can take the other away to do whatever. It’s an exclusive offer, so they better act fast.
Neither believes this is exclusive. They’re both pretty sure the other is being offered the same deal. It’s the classic prisoner’s dilemma. If they give each other up, they’ll probably both be subject to Chris’s whims for the rest of their lives.
Logically speaking, the right thing to do is to try to betray each other. But it requires a considerable amount of trust in the other. Noah would have to trust Alejandro not to be a selfish bastard. Alejandro would have to trust Noah not to be paranoid. 
...Noah doesn't think he can trust Alejandro. He has seen Alejandro put himself first time and again. He refused to get help that they clearly needed because of his stupid pride. He's been more honest with Noah, but now Alejandro is by himself, being offered a deal almost impossible to resist. If he's going to take Noah down, then Noah might as well take Alejandro with him.
And yet. Alejandro's first instinct had been to save Noah when he was trapped, despite proving that he'd be difficult to work with. There was something good there in that shriveled, dark heart. Taking Alejandro down would give him a sense of vindication, but he doubted that would last long with whatever punishment Chris had in store. At least with Alejandro free, someone would know what had happened to Noah.
Besides, there is a part of Noah that does want to believe that Alejandro has some standards. It's a small part. It's a stupid part.
But Noah would rather be a fool than be cruel senselessly.
So he denies Chris's deal.
…To his surprise, Alejandro thinks he can trust Noah. With how loyal Noah is to Owen, he doubts Noah would choose to subject someone else to Chris. Alejandro could easily take advantage of this. It won’t be his problem afterwards. People would ask questions about Noah, but he could lie his way around them. Alejandro could finally rid himself of an annoyance set on ruining his good name.
And yet. Noah's not just an annoyance. He can be useful when he wants to be. He saved Alejandro from his own overconfidence. Noah has potential to be more. Not just to Alejandro, but to others as well. He's a fool not to see it in himself, but Alejandro could guide him along the right way. With their minds combined, they could conquer any challenge. Including Chris'.
Besides, the world would be a worse place without Noah in it.
So he denies Chris's deal.
The two are suddenly besides each other in the cart staring up at a petulant Chris. He whines that he's disappointed in the both of them. Where's the drama in neither of them taking the deal?!
Unfortunately, he's bound by his own rules, so he does tell them that the only way to get back to their normal size is to go through the same mirror that shrunk them in the first place. (All of Chris's game was pretty much a distraction to trick them into giving themselves up to him or else be small forever, either way being entertaining for Chris.)
They have until sunset, which if he had to guess is about thirty minutes. With a huff, he vanishes.
The two just look at each other for a moment as they comprehend what just happened.
"...You didn't give me up." Noah spoke aloud.
"No. I didn't."
"Why?"
"I don't know," Alejandro admitted. Which was the truth. He knew he told himself it was to keep Noah around as a benefit, but there was a part of him that also just liked having Noah around. And he wasn't sure which was more true. "I can't believe you trusted me."
"I didn't."
"Why wouldn't you give me up when you thought I would?"
"I don't know," Noah confessed. His heart and his brain were too battle-torn to give a more truthful answer. His heart was winning when he spoke again, "I'm sorry. For doubting you."
"No. No, you were absolutely right to. I didn't refuse to betray you out of the goodness of my heart."
"But you did."
"...Sí. I did.
"So take the apology. You're not getting another one."
"No."
"Are you seriously arguing this right now? Why?!"
"Because you still chose to spare me anyways!" Alejandro snapped. "You know me better than anyone else. You know I'm not 'a good person deep down'! There was no reward in this for you! I would punish your loyalty for myself. And you'd still show me mercy! I can't-No entiendo-"
Alejandro pinched at the bridge of his nose as he desperately attempted to calm his thoughts before he spoke again. "...Thank you."
After a pause of his own, Noah replied. "You're welcome."
The sun got in their eyes as they both remembered Chris's new thirty minute deadline. The ferris wheel is currently stopped at the top. Even if they could scale down it quickly, it would take far longer than 30 minutes to get back to the house of mirrors by themselves.
Fortunately for them, they're crafty, and they're high enough to where they're at the height of seagulls flying about. They manage to get a seagull's attention by throwing popcorn out of the cart. When it comes to investigate, Alejandro remains pressed against the wall of the cart while Noah is in the middle, egging the bird closer.
The bird goes in to attack Noah, and Alejandro leaps onto the bird from behind. The bird attempts to fly away and shake Alejandro off. Alejandro holds it in place long enough for Noah to get on.
The two wrangle the bird into a dive bomb for the house of mirrors. All three of them are screaming as they crash land. The two quickly scamper inside before the bird is aware enough to get revenge on them.
They split off to cover more ground since neither one quite remembers where the mirror that shrank them is. Alejandro is the one who manages to find it first as he goes through it to become his regular size. He went in one mirror, though out another, and can only guess he's on the side of the maze that Noah went down.
He immediately speedwalks to find Noah. He can't run or he'd risk stepping on him. When he hears Noah shout his name, he immediately runs, grabs Noah, and races back towards where he believes the entrance to be.
Noah guides him back to the entrance, and he races towards the mirror once he recognizes where he is. He shoves Noah through the mirror, though his own hand meets a solid surface.
He runs back towards the other side, only to meet a regular sized Noah in the middle, panting. The two immediately hug and laugh in pure shock and disbelief that they're finally back to normal.
Chris is nowhere to be found or heard, though they do wish they'd be able to get some form of revenge on him.
For now, they're both content with leaving the park and never setting foot in it again.
They finally catch up with the rest of their friend group who ask where they've been the whole time.
Neither of them has a response prepared, so Izzy provides them with one: They were clearly making out the whole time.
The two try to beat back the allegations, but to no avail. It's still better than having to explain what ACTUALLY happened.
It does mean they'd have to be together more if they're going to lean into this lie.
Neither one minds it as much as they pretend to.

something hilariously ironic and somehow kind of sweet: this is the first time I've ever received flowers from a boy in my LIFE. this is the first time, and they aren't from my ex-boyfriend (the thought never crossed his mind) or my father or my brother..... the FIRST TIME I've ever received intentional flowers from a boy, it's from boy problem no 2. 😂😂😂😂😂 like what on earth!!!!!

Shipwrecked is my favorite H2O episode, so I drowned Law did a screenshot redraw to entertain myself while we continue waiting orz
As for The Plot I'm re-adjusting the obsession with mermaids to simply witnessing a DF user swimming and actively use their powers underwater because mermaids already exist in this canon and everyone's pretty damn aware of that kjdshfkdsgjh
OH AND im combining Shipwrecked and Red Herring (the one where Emma dyes her hair to be red) into the same section since sea monsters are... also a thing in the world of OP- dammit i love this universe

instead of dyeing Luffy's hair like Emma, he ate an experimental rumble ball Chopper was working on for him and can't exit G5 for a few hours (which ends up being a blessing in disguise bc he gets to go save Law AND turn the door into rubber :D)

goopy... in this AU luffy has access to g5 pre-Sabaody due to full moon/moon pool shenanigans which is why Law doesn't recognize him at this point (but then he can only access it on full moons and doesn't have full control until he properly awakens it in Wano which is why Chopper was trying a new rumble ball recipe for him)

So like I was gonna do more with this and I might later but right now it’s bite sized and pleasant, it’s nicely self contained, so here’s a TSP fic about the narrator being indecisive about making himself a character model.
[ I have a question. ] Stanley posits to no one in particular.
He is standing in the room with two doors, quietly considering. As it is his choice, the narrator is quiet here, and allowing him the privacy of his own head. Mustn’t spoil which route Stanley wants to take for himself, he’s said before. Keeps the fellow on his toes.
(Toes. Ha. How relevant.)
“Yes, Stanley?” The narrator prompts him with friendly curiosity. At one point he may have asked with impatience, an effort to keep him moving, but they’ve done every route so many times that sometimes, it’s more fun to take their time. Stop and smell the roses. “What’s on your mind?”
Stanley—fidgets. It isn’t like him, to fidget, or hesitate. When he finally signs again, after a long consideration, it’s clear he’s chosen every word very carefully.
[ It’s probably a silly question. Is that okay? ]
“Well, Stanley, you are a silly person, so I expect nothing less.”
He scowls at the ceiling, scrunching his nose at the tease. There’s no heat in it, of course.
There’s such a… gentleness, to their relationship, these days. For two entities designed to be in conflict, they’ve somehow found a way to meet in the middle, and find the places where they disagree as ways to appreciate each other. It’s hard, having to deal with someone else’s perspective when they think so differently from you.
But it’s good. It’s nice.
“Go on, then. I will reserve my judgement on the silliness of your question for after I hear it.” Stanley snorts.
He looks at his hands. Releases a puff of breath.
[ Do you have a body? ]
There is no response, but this is fine, because Stanley continues, nothing but genuine curiosity behind his thoughts. There is no motive, no craving. Just simple questions.
[ I usually think you don’t, but sometimes you sigh, or cry or clear your throat, or just do things that imply more than just audio. People have lungs and stuff, to make those noises. But I know you’re not human. But do you have a character model somewhere, like mine? ]
“Um. Er,” is the uncertain reply. The fellow sounds caught off guard, a little sheepish. “I… no. I don’t.”
[ oh. Okay. ]
Stanley isn’t disappointed, not really. Okay, perhaps a touch. But not enough to be properly bothered.
“Wh— is that it? No followup?”
He shakes his head.
“Is it a problem that I don’t have one? I’d never thought to—good lord, can you imagine?”
Stanley shakes his head again, then considers it, and lifts a hand, seesawing it vaguely.
It isn’t a problem, per se, that the narrator isn’t a physical being. It’s simply—
[ Humans are social creatures. They need physical interaction and touch. We’re not human though, so I don’t need it. It’s like the sleep thing. ]
“Hm.”
The narrator sounds contemplative, learning something new. Stanley fidgets again.
[ I was just curious. Sorry if I made you uncomfortable. ]
“Oh, no, it’s alright,” the tone is dismissive, distracted. It stings a bit, but it’s probably for the best. The last thing Stanley wants is to make them stew in an uncomfortable atmosphere. The pair of them should move on.
It’s honestly fine that Stanley’s never had interaction with another person. Or. Well. He thinks it is. It doesn’t bother him frequently. He ISN’T human, so he isn’t about to go mad without it.
There have been times where he really really wished, needed, craved comfort—mostly in the worst moments when the both of them were affected. The aftermath of the Skip Button ending is the most obvious.
But the narrator’s voice has become its own kind of presence. It can rest on his shoulders like a weighted blanket does, grounding him and soothing him, easily as intimate as a hug.
So there’s no real loss here. Stanley can’t miss something he’s never had. It’s honestly okay.
“Er, Stanley?”
Right. Doors. Stanley crosses his arms and considers them.
“The door on the left, you know the drill.”
Mm. No, he thinks he’ll take the door on the right. The lounge is calling his name, singing sweetly with its serene blue and photos. Then maybe he’ll play a different game behind a blue door.
There’s a little grumble that follows him when he heads to the right. Stanley smiles, gives a cheeky wink.
The narrator—ponders.
He doesn’t do it frequently; he finds he doesn’t like to. It’s quite easy for him to get stuck thinking about one little thing, one tiny detail, capturing all his attention until he comes back to himself and finds hours have passed and Stanley is sitting against a doorframe trying to entertain himself with a whiteboard and marker, having long since given up trying to capture his attention.
Pondering is not… good for him, the narrator thinks.
But, as he is prone to do, he catches himself going back to a moment, looking it over again and again, trying to glean something new.
Humans are social creatures. They need physical interaction and touch.
Do you have a body?
The narrator is a voice. He is a part of the parable, he is a mechanism. But then, Stanley is a mechanism of the parable as well; a vessel for a player.
It isn’t the same. They are intrinsically different. But do they have to be?
The narrator is and is not the world; he is and is not the halls, the doors, the very air itself. He controls it, it controls him. He has access to its assets; it has access to his mind.
He wonders if this is how humans feel about their own bodies. Both in control, and plagued by limitations.
Oh, for goodness’s sake, he’s doing it again. Going off on an inexplicable contemplation of the nature of humanity, existence and choice. Honestly, sometimes even the narrator doesn’t know what he’s on about.
The narrator doesn’t have a body. He doesn’t need a body.
Humans are social creatures. They need physical interaction and touch.
Would…
Would Stanley prefer it if he had a body?
I don’t need it.
He thinks on the hesitation in Stanley’s fingers. He wonders what it would be like to squeeze them.
Textures. Temperatures. Softness, firmness, sharpness. Scents, tastes.
Senses he knows about in theory. He has no frame of reference.
Would it be that difficult to make himself a character model? He has assets hidden in the code of the game, models he can edit, tweak, piece together to make something new.
Oh, but how could he choose the right features? How could he know when it’s really him?
And—oh no—what if Stanley dislikes it?
The narrator knows himself, he knows that if he wants to do something he commits to it until he thinks it’s perfect. He won’t settle for less. He’d put his heart and soul into it.
If he put all that work into a model, and Stanley didn’t like it?
He doesn’t think he’d take it very well.
He doesn’t know. He doesn’t know what to do.
“When Stanley came to a set of two open doors, he—would you at least be so kind as to let me finish?” The voice berates Stanley as he swerves right without pause. Stanley doesn’t even roll his eyes.
He’s going to go see the lights.
There’s a nervous clearing of the throat. “S-Stanley was so bad at following directions—“
Spare him, please. He understands the needed script, but it grates a bit this time. Stanley balances on the edge of the platform, a hand around the support rail, timing his jump.
“Look, Stanley—“
Not his enemy. No, they’re not enemies. In fact, Stanley would go so far as to call the fellow his dear friend. It’s why he’s doing this.
This is not an act of cruelty. He knows the fear it strikes into the narrator, and in honesty Stanley cannot blame him. The number of times the protagonist has gone down this route just to find a different exit, all in vain, is not a high value, but it’s still too many.
There are only two ways out of the room behind the red door. One is in the narrator’s power, if he can overcome his own nature to use it. The other is in Stanley’s power, and makes them both miserable.
It’s not ideal. And it’s so frustrating, because this place really is beautiful. It really is up there as one of Stanley’s favorites.
Clearly anxious, but trying to keep his composure, the narrator loads the map into the starry dome. In the instant Stanley steps into the room, all the panic falls away, into an easy bliss.
“Oh…”
Stanley walks to the center of the platform and sits. He crosses his legs, craning his head up to watch the lights.
The narrator is quiet, but his flood of real peace is palpable. This is one of the places he seems most open. Most willing to relax.
Usually, that can be a danger after too long. He ends up stopping, never progressing forward, unwilling to move. That’s not a life.
But they’ve compromised on so many things. This is one of those things too.
[ I’m going to stay a while ], Stanley offers in the dark, knowing he will be seen. [ You’ve been preoccupied for a bit. Do you want to talk about it? ]
“I—“
The voice cuts itself off, clearly surprised, the anxiety slipping back in.
[ It’s okay if you don’t. I thought being here might help you deal with whatever’s going on. I’ll wait as long as you need. ]
To say the narrator is embarrassed is putting it mildly.
He feels caught red handed, even though he hasn’t even done anything.
“Am I really so obvious?” He grumbles, more to himself than to Stanley. The man grins anyway.
[ I know you. I pay attention. ]
“Hmph. That’s debatable,” he grouses. Still, Stanley was wise to come to this place to prod him. He’s much more at ease here. A little less ashamed, afraid, overwhelmed.
[ Like I said. You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. I’ll stay here while you sort out whatever’s been bothering you. This way you don’t have to be distracted by the narration. ]
He’s being…. Kind. So kind, to a person who used to be his enemy, his jailer. How has the narrator been so fortunate to have a Stanley that is so exceedingly good? He knows he certainly hasn’t been a fine example in the past.
He sighs. Stanley lays back, hands behind his head on the floor. It can’t be comfortable, on the metal grating. The narrator gives a small noise of warning, before he changes the texture pattern on the dark floor to the rug he’s saved for the Bottom of the Mind Control Facility Bucket ending. It’s a bit more comfortable than the carpet in the office.
It catches Stanley off guard a little, and the narrator chuckles as he shakes his head at the sudden change, like a wet dog shaking off water. But he settles back with a smile.
“If you intend to be there a while, you may as well be comfortable.”
It’s just… so easy. To be with Stanley. To do things for him. To try to make him smile. Like it’s innate. It wasn’t always. But he’s changed. The both of them have.
They look at the lights for a bit. The narrator feels himself relax. Like he’s floating. Like he is one of the lights, going up, down, changing slowly, unhurried and unconcerned.
Why has he been so worried?
It takes him a long minute to realize he wasn’t the one who had wondered that.
Stanley waits for him. Stanley doesn’t demand anything from him. Stanley’s intentions are entirely devoid of deceit or manipulation.
It makes this… easier.
“I…”
But not completely.
“I’ve been thinking. About making something new. I haven’t decided if I should do it, because, well—I worry you won’t like it.”
Stanley’s eyes are closed, but he’s awake. He’s listening.
The narrator is being very careful with his words. It’s been at least fifty runs since Stanley asked him about a model, so he knows at least that it doesn’t occur to the protagonist that this is related.
No, Stanley is wondering if the narrator has been considering new endings. Why wouldn’t he like the new endings? They aren’t ones where he dies painfully and miserably, are they?
The narrator chuckles good-naturedly, suddenly far more at ease. “No, Stanley. No cruel twists of fate that leave you mad or dead, that much I can assure you.”
Okay. Then Stanley isn’t sure why he wouldn’t like whatever the narrator makes for him, if it comes from some place genuine.
It leaves him a little tongue-tied. The narrator hears himself swallow, without a throat.
“It’s not that simple.”
Why not?
“Because…”
Because he doesn’t just want Stanley to like it. He doesn’t want Stanley to be happy because it’s a new thing.
He wants Stanley to like him. He wants to make this thing himself, the way humans shape their bodies to fit the way they picture themselves in their heads, and he wants Stanley to like what he sees.
It would be him. It would be his. And if Stanley was just neutral about it, or just didn’t like how he looked, then—
Oh, he couldn’t bear it. It would hurt him irrevocably. He’d throw it into the deepest pit of code and never think about it again.
“I… I think, if I did try to make this, this idea I’m considering, a reality, well—you know I don’t do things halfway. I’d be so—it needs to be perfect, do you understand? And if I spend all this time on it, only for you to, to—“
To treat it like his story.
“—yes! Exactly! Oh, Stanley, this is for you, it’s all for you. I just want to make something for you that you’ll care about, and appreciate.”
(And love, he is certain not to say. There’s no need to attach such words to this idea yet, that’s a little too dangerous.)
Stanley is very quiet. He’s thinking, but he’s thinking in that way where he wants to be certain with his words, so the narrator gives him his privacy. The narrator looks at the lights. He lets himself relax again.
He can feel Stanley’s tender heart. His compassion. Stanley cares deeply for him, can see how much it matters to him.
A desire fills the protagonist, an intense longing he can’t bury, hard as he tries. The voice can’t help peeking at it, not when it’s bubbling over like a boiling pot against a lid.
More than anything, Stanley wishes he could hug the fellow.
He must make some noise of surprise, because Stanley’s demeanor changes instantly to one of embarrassment and trying to recontextualize.
He wants to comfort the narrator! He doesn’t mean to make it weird! He just wishes he was able to provide the fellow a physical sort of validation!
The narrator feels more than sees Stanley’s face flushing all the way to his ears. He can’t help laughing, not at the man necessarily, not even meaning it at his expense. It’s just…
It’s a little adorable?
Stanley’s embarrassment only grows. Welp. Moment ruined. Time to go throw himself off the stairs.
“Absolutely not!” The laughter dies instantly, turning to an angry sort of panic. Stanley flinches.
Right. Not a funny joke when it’s here.
The narrator inhales deeply. “God, you gave me a fright.”
He can feel the genuine remorse radiating off his friend. Forgives him immediately.
“It’s—it’s alright. Slip of the tongue, as they say.”
Well, Stanley can’t talk, but, yeah. They both are on the same page.
“In any case. Thank you for listening. I… I think I will try, actually. I honestly appreciate your… your sentiment.”
The narrator can hear the smile in his voice. Yes, he’s going to go through with this. He’s certain now.
Because Stanley wants to hug him. And that in itself has erased all his doubts.
Still.
“Can we… stay here, for a little longer?”
He’ll reset. He will. Stanley doesn’t need to hurt himself. It’s just…
It’s so peaceful here.
Stanley shoots a thumbs up at the ceiling, towards the lights. The narrator relaxes again. Tries to imagine himself laying besides Stanley. Looking up with him. He wants it more than anything.
“Thank you, Stanley. I… thank you.”

I'm so sorry but I'm going to talk about supernatural in the year of our lord 2023, because I just finished good omens season 2 and the way these shows occupy a very similar space in fandom attitudes is driving me insane.
In so many ways, good omens feels like what supernatural could have been, had they actually committed and not flailed around with like 15 seasons of queerbaiting and the most unintentionally funny ending imaginable. You have the demons and the angels, armageddon, team free will vs god's master plan, years of pining and repression and no personal space and small declarations of love. But good omens does it with genuine vulnerability and comittment, not as bait or comic relief or last minute bury you gays. But, because it’s big and well-known and allows itself time and nuance to get where it’s going, so many people really treated it horribly before the drop of season 2 for not immediatelyand explicitly giving them what they wanted.
Like, after the end of season 1 you could really feel the way spn damaged viewers treated them as the same thing. It’s like people were so prepared to be tricked that they came in highly on guard and defensive. Thing is, this manifested as taking anything other than the most bland, on the nose and immediate gay rep as the creators queerbaiting and trying to worm their way out of committing to 'real' queer rep. Gaiman refuses to confirm your 'they are gay men' headcanons? Clearly him being a coward and not the characters, explicitly, being neither gay nor men. Characters have a very close relationship but no kiss? Clearly queerbaiting and not an affirmation of ace/aro relationships, queerplatonic relationships, or even plain old platonic relationships.
There is so much hurt from years of stereotypes and queerbaiting and bury your gays that any attempt to tell a complex queer story - one where relationships take time, or where they don’t always happen, or where horror or tragedy strikes, become nigh on impossible. It becomes hard to distinguish subtext used to be genuine and subtle and queer-friendly from subtext used to queerbait and make fun, and rather than making the effort to tell them apart and giving stories a chance (and taking the risk of getting hurt) all rep must be distilled into the epitome of 'gay' before it’s accepted as good, because that way you cannot be tricked. Hell, just the way it’s referred to as 'rep' rather than 'characters' is telling.
This is noticeable in the way spn fan spaces talk about Cas, too; he’s always 'the gay angel', never the bisexual angel (despite having had female love interests) or the asexual angel (despite being largely uninterested in sex) or the nonbinary angel (despite not being human and on occassion using female vessels as well as male). Does Meg Masters mean nothing to you. Just. Please allow stories their nuance and their time and their right to not always cater to your ship in the exact way you want (or at all) without declaring them bait. It makes you look very silly when you come crawling back the moment a kiss happens.

Chris absolutely 100% purposely pronounces a word wrong just because he knows it will piss off Josh and Ashley.
I mean obviously Josh does the same thing as well because both he and Chris know it's the easiest way to annoy and bug Ash let's be real here, but this isn't about that. Oh no, this is about the single word that Chris gleefully discovered will set both Josh and Ashley off ranting and raving at him while he pretends to have no idea why they're so angry at him.
And that word?
Macabre.
Does Chris know that it's actually pronounced 'ma-cob'? Of course he does, it and all it's synonyms are basically like 50% of Josh's vocabulary, like come on here. Does he still constantly say 'mac-aber' with the justification that that's how it's spelt so obviously that how it's said? Oh you know it.
Does this also mean that Josh and Ashley have a full 5-step plan that fully details exactly how they plan on murdering Chris when he finally says it one too many times? A plan that only gets more and more macabre (heh) in the details every time he adds to that count?
Well, let's just say that they fully believe that no jury would ever convict them if they followed through with it and leave it at that...

Penelope was an empath. Rosalia was born with low empathy. She could have turned into a law abiding citizen if she had been born into a loving commoner family. Because of her upbringing she turned cold and ruthless.
she's a misandrist and hates how much her worth as a woman depends on the men she is bound to - either by marriage or relation. Penelope was chasing love because she wanted power and felt like without men she was nothing. Rosalia rejected love and wanted Penelope to do the same. This is when the sisters grew apart.
Rosalia became super overprotective of Penelope when she discovered that Penelope was seduced by her music teacher when she was very young. This controlling behaviour lead to Penelope to seek out the company of men even more because she felt stifled at home by her family's expectations and strict education.
Rosalia had a pet scorpion and a snake when she was a child
was send off to Arlanta's boarding school after her teacher found out that she was the leader of an amateur crime ring
when the news of Rosalia and Penelope's brothers' death in battle reached the family, Rosalia was chosen as the heir of the Judiths and Penelope was to be wed to Claude instead of her older sister like originally planned.
the Judiths were cheated by the Imperial family multiple times. The Emperor promised their daughter would marry a prince as a reward for their service to the crown. They thought their daughter would marry the crown prince not the Emperor's bastard son.
Rosalia disliked Claude and thought he was not worthy of Penelope (no man ever could be worthy of her) but she was strongly against Penelope breaking off her engagement to Claude in order to pursue a relationship with Anastacius. She couldn't point her finger at it but she found Anastacius deeply unsettling
was the one who found Penelope hiding in the black tower after she had run away from the palace (they could enter the tower unharmed because they were descendents of Lucas' master)
the day her sister died she called her stupid. It was also the day when she cried for the first time in her life.
after Jennette was born the doctor thought she was a stillbirth and she was buried by a servant in secret. Rosalia heard the infant's screams and dug her out of the grave. Another AU headcanon I have is that Jennette was born dead and Rosalia resurrected her/breathed life into her with the help of the remains of Anastacius' research that survived the fire. Rosalia had secretly studied black magic in Arlanta and put the finishing touches on Jennette. This would make Jennette months younger than Athy is.
Penelope and Rosalia are mirror twins with defining characteristics like birthmarks, dominant hands, or other features on opposite sides. Penelope had the mana tolerance gene but no magic. Rosalia had a little magic but no mana tolerance gene.
Rosalia never suffered from mana sickness since her body would transfer her mana to Penelope when she was together with her (which was almost always). They would have lived in ignorance of their abilities if not for Anastacius. Penelope's body knew how to consume mana but not how to use it.
love-hates Jennette. she's trying to appease Jennette to vicariously appease her dead sister. her sister's goals and dreams have to become Jennette's goals and dreams. Jennette's life belongs to her sister because she had stolen it from her just by being born into this world.
thinks Jennette is a weird girl even though she was a weird girl herself
there were easier ways to make Jennette crown princess. She chose to poison her in order to teach her a lesson and punish her for treating her enemy like a sister. But also to secure Jennette's absolute loyality and ensure that she would never trust anyone else but the Alpheus/Judiths. The assassination of Jennette was not only revenge against Athanasia and Claude but meant to hurt Jennette as well. As much as she claims to love Jennette, secretly Rosalia hates her for looking like her sister and making the same mistakes as her.

Remember, that in the Phasma novel, Cardinal says there are still several hours before the assembly begins. So when Armitage Hux is ""resting before the assembly"" (or so his droid says...), or rather, getting ready because Kylo Ren does not like to wait... ( the truth, which we learn via Hux’s internal monologue ). Hux does not mean Kylo is going to be irritated if Hux starts the assembly late. There is plenty of time before the assembly. Kylo is impatient for this private meeting that he and Hux are about to have. So Cardinal gtfo so Hux can get fancy for his man. i.e. kylux is canon and they were just bitter exes by time TFA started. Okay bye.
