Medraut also recreates the kneeling scene before he ties Lleu up. and when Lleu overpowers Agravaine and aims with his arrow at them it's an echo of the hunting chapter where Medraut used Lleu as target practice. They continuously perpetuate the cycle of violence and copy each other's behaviour to hurt and humiliate the other. It's a miracle this didn't end in murder.
“Then it was Lleu and I, alone, locked together in silent, furious intensity. The old bitter resentment raged through me. I was stronger and taller and more experienced than Lleu, and I knew I could not win. […] When Lleu at last twisted in underneath my guard and pressed the wooden blade against my throat, I could not bear to prolong this competition. I knelt before him in formal surrender, as before a judge or an executioner, with head bowed and neck bared. […] Such a performance, both of us so calm and polite! But his hands trembled, the black hair he pushed back from his forehead was damp, and his face was wan. It had been something more than a game” (62-63)
what was it, Medraut? What was it!

randomly remembered that scene when Medraut had Lleu poisoned and wanted to help him dress? does he realize how creepy he comes across sometimes?
Tumblr media
"he shrank from the touch of my hot hands" are you sure it was the temperature and not the fact that you had - I dunno, drugged him and kidnapped him and are now touching his naked body??
