Does machete have to hide his relationship with Vasco? Since he's a cardinal and all. That's gotta be tough considering how hard of a life he's had.

I go back and forth on whether I think Securité was the first time Minkowski and Eiffel hugged. Because on the one hand, I think that by the end of season 2 Minkowski and Eiffel are friends who are deeply important to each other, and that Eiffel is a physically affectionate person, and that Minkowski gives really good tight hugs when she wants to. And if Minkowski and Eiffel didn't hug before Securité, then it seems probable that neither of them would have hugged anyone at all in 864 days. 

But on the other hand, there are still emotional barriers between them by the end of Season 2. Eiffel isn't expecting Minkowski to hug him in Securité and he doesn't initiate a hug himself. And if you don't expect to hug your friend after you've been presumed dead in deep space for over 200 days, then when would you expect to hug them? 

Minkowski apologises after hugging Eiffel in Securité. And it's not completely clear if that is just for the tightness of the hug and the lack of warning, or if she's apologising for hugging him at all. Eiffel says "it's all right. Don't apologize for hugging", and that could mean it isn't a big deal because they've hugged before, or it could be giving her permission for a new way of interacting. He could be telling her that it's all right, they can be people who hug each other.

We don't know whether Minkowski and Eiffel ever hugged before Securité, but we do know that she carried him to the lab during his Decima attack in Do No Harm. We know that as he convulsed after collapsing, she told him "It's okay, I've got you", which I think implies she was holding him. And going all the way back to Cataracts and Hurricanoes, we know that when he nearly drowned in his spacesuit, she brought him inside. There's just something so emotional to me about the idea that before Securité, Minkowski might have only ever touched Eiffel in a gentle or affectionate way when he was unconscious and at risk of dying. And then, after he gets stranded on the shuttle, for a while she thinks he is dead, or as good as. He's lost in deep space where none of them can reach him. And when he returns, this time she grabs hold of him and she doesn't want to let go.

No but can you imagine Michael keeping this a secret from David and surprising him when it’s all finished and they’ve moved in. Just Imagine the look on David’s face when he realizes what Michael’s done and the happiness at the realization that they get to see each other everyday whenever they want. It’s so beautiful and I’m so happy and excited for them.

Aww. Well, this certainly is a lovely thought. I will say, though, that in the interest of balance, it's also likely that Michael is renting the house, since he does not live in London full time. I'm also not sure that he and David would be living together necessarily, but I absolutely do love the thought that he surprised David with the initial news of renting/buying the house next door. It's likely that a decorator was hired to furnish the place, but I could also see Michael having one room kept aside for him to decorate himself, and that room being one that is just for David.

So I think both of those things--the house itself, and then the room Michael picked out and decorated on his own--would make a beautiful surprise, and I could picture David being utterly overwhelmed at realizing he and Michael can see each other whenever they want. Because it's not like filming a show or interview where they have to see each other...with this, they are choosing to see each other. Again, calling back to this interview from 2019, which now seems incredibly prescient:

"We'd have to do it by choice from now on, wouldn't we?" "It'll be quite embarrassing to go, 'Can we just...see each other? For no reason?'"

It honestly leaves me breathless to think that this was five years ago, and now this is exactly what's happened. The tentativeness from Michael--so unlike him--quietly hoping for something that he wasn't sure would ever happen. Two seasons of Good Omens, three seasons of Staged, and an entire pandemic later, the whole world has turned upside down, and despite so many things falling apart, Michael and David's relationship seems deeper and stronger than ever before.

That they have chosen this, chosen each other--whether as friends or as something more--becomes clearer every day, and I very much share your sentiments of happiness and excitement for them...

just realized that the link and zelda weirdness levels are pretty much the same in botw and totk. Like link is canonically a little gremlin of a man running around with very little clothes, making weird weapons, and eating rocks, but zelda also tries to get link to eat a frog, and is basically a hyrulian iPad kid, obsessed with ancient hyrulian artifacts and history. weirdo 4 weirdo friendship/ship for sure

i was reading a scoops era steddie au where eddie visits scoops often and one thing i noticed i alway want but have yet to see (bear in mind my fic pallette is basically just shit i see on Tumblr and occasionally reading every fic a certain author has written) is a specific scene of eddie noticing stobins missing when he goes to visit them at scoops the day theyre stuck in the bunker. cause they entered the bunker after a shift one night and didn't get out until at the soonest the next afternoon right before the mall closes so if either or both of them were scheduled to work then they'd be just... gone.

and how characters around them handle that depends on how soon (if at all) they're declared missing. did robin think they'd be in-and-out in their snooping and tell her parents shes be back a little late or did she think they'd be out kinda late fucking around and just lied to her parents telling them shes sleeping over at a friend's like how we know tina was going to cover for erica? did mrs Henderson freak out when Dustin didn't bike back home (knowing what happened with will) or did she know he was with steve and trusted that they were goofing off or something?

and usually i see Steve's parents not being home but what if they were?? they could panic because steve always has some sort of excuse for why hes gone or maybe just his mom starts worrying because while his dad never really asks about him she does and she knows hes probably not at some girls house right now because he at least would have told her. or maybe mrs harrington doesn't know her son as well as she thinks she does and assumes he is out at some girls house and is relieved hes finally getting to be more like himself.

maybe just one or two people in scoops troop are reported missing that night and maybe the search started for them is enough for the other's parents or friends to realize they're all missing. maybe none of them are because they each already had a coverup with the people who'd notice. maybe they spent a good few hours in that elevator regretting lying about where they'd be because now no one knows they're in danger and by the time they start looking it could be too late (obviously erica didn't seem to grasp this yet but shes literally 10 and it's definitely her fist severely traumatic life or death experience. for the others tho it could definitely be on their minds and i have seen a few fics where robin wonders about how steve and Dustin are reacting like they've done scary shit like this before together)

then morning comes and id give it until lunch with no calls or anything before parents who believed their kids were sleeping over to start worrying seriously. maybe they call the friend their child's supposedly with and get a confused parent saying they haven't seen them or maybe they get the friend picking up and confirming they're fine (like tina). but if Mrs Henderson gets worried and calls steve she'll either get the harringtons saying he isn't home right now or she won't be able to reach him. and knowing steves like a big brother and a best friend to dustin knows that if steve missing too he's probably at least missing with him and goes to the station worried about them both

and then theres the fact that scoops has to open in the morning, probably sometime around 10am. maybe steve and robin were scheduled to both work again and as 10am comes and passes scoops ahoy hasn't been touched. maybe some mall manager calls the scoops manager (forgive me ive never worked in a mall but i do work in a store-within-a-store and we have our own manager plus the big store manager) and asks where their employees are. if missing persons reports were filed that last night then the manager would be really worried while frantically trying to find someone to cover for them. but maybe no one knows they're missing yet and their manager is grumbling about their no-shows, maybe considering firing them for both disappearing without even calling out. depending on how much they know and if the reports were filed, whoever has to cover their shifts is either worried about their coworkers (probably moreso robin than steve because of his reputation) or utterly pissed that they both didn't show and they have to open scoops ahoy with a few hours delay and probably a good few karens bitching about being closed. or maybe one or the other was scheduled and while their no-show is really inconvenient at least someone's there to open and ask for backup

and then theres steves car still parked in the back where it was the day before. a bike left behind at the mall is less eyebrow-raising but a fancy car? Steve Harrington's car? Steve Harrington who was scheduled to work today but somehow isn't in scoops right now? is he skipping work while simultaneously wandering around his workplace? and whats worse is despite evidence being there *no one can find him*. maybe thats what it takes for people to realize hes like actually missing. maybe they think he was kidnapped, hopefully he just went home with some girl and lost track of time.

and then theres eddie. eddie whos been stopping by scoops for a while now. maybe he still doesn't really like Harrington but likes teasing him with Buckley or maybe they've gotten pretty close. maybe they're already dating. maybe eddie walks up to scoops one morning to find it closed or to find that one or the other didn't show up for work this morning. maybe he hears from the worker that ones missing or maybe they get a rant about how pissed the worker is to be opening alone. maybe he's the one to go to a mall manager or security officer worried about scoops being closed because he *knows* the people that are supposed to be there right now and they don't just abandon work at the same time with no explanations.

or maybe eddie visits in the afternoons and learns they're missing from their coworkers or maybe hes there because he saw it on the news and went on his our hunt. either way it'd probably end with Eddie looking around the mall for them because he knows steve isn't going to just abandon his beemer in a busy public parking lot. maybe he finds them high out of their minds while checking the movie theatre (this one i do see a lot and am obsessed with its so good) or maybe he doesn't find them at all (its a big mall and they are actively hiding from Russians who know they escaped. sure stobin are not being very secretive while high but dustin and erica are at least keeping them in less-discoverable locations). maybe he goes home knowing hes looked everywhere in that damn mall and assumes they're probably kidnapped and taken somewhere else (if he did find them tho that opens a whole can of worms for if, how, and how much eddie gets involved and while my brains gone down sone of those rabbit holes i don't think i will today)

and then they see the news about the mall fire. and eddie knows damn well that he looked everywhere in that mall but didn't see a trace of his friends but there they are on the news and apparently in the fire. maybe eddie assumes he didn't look hard enough. but maybe he sees how steves the only one with more than a few bruises on his legs, how despite them claiming he was trapped in rumble that also allegedly killed billy hargrove he looks like hes carrying himself on adrenaline alone and hovering around robin and the kids like something more than falling support beams could get to them. maybe its the fact that he look as shit as he did but wasn't laying down on a hospital stretcher like he would be if he just got those wounds.

also i swear i feel like doctor strange looking through every possible reality when i go on tangents like this. idk whenever i come up with little fics in my head or come up with different ways my favorite unfinished fics could end im always exploring as many different versions of the same scenario as i can and coming up with as many what-ifs as i can.

i really don’t think there is another friendship in media that makes me feel so seen as steve and robin’s friendship. my best friend is my favourite person in the world, the one i trust with shit i trust nobody else with, the person i get into the most chaotic, unreasonable, moronic situations with, and it drove me mad when we were teenagers how nobody seemed to understand we were so so close without being romantically involved. he’s my platonic soulmate. and every time i find guy-girl platonic friendships in media, i snaffle them away like a little trash racoon, but no friendship on screen has ever ever emulated what me and my best friend have quite like robin and steve. i look at them and i just see us. and i love it i love it so so much, teenage me needed them, and 20s me is glad i have them now

but i also absolutely love the rarl where ron allows carl to be vulnerable; where they both allow eachother to be vulnerable with themselves and eachother. ron having the ability to be himself without the fear of judgement or abuse in front of carl because he knows carl knows ron isn’t a bad person. carl allowing himself to be “weak” in front of ron and letting his guard down because he knows ron isn’t a bad person. oh i hate them

You know that time in the comics when the Doctor is so depressed, he shuts off the lights, turns on an interrogation spotlight, locks himself in the console room, and argues with a bunch of judgmental shadow-figures resembling his past incarnations?

And all the TARDIS' lights go out and her interior becomes a maze to keep his companions out of the console room, all from her psychic connection with the Doctor (“moodbleed”)?

And his companions are left wandering in circles for two days as the air goes “stale,” not knowing where he is but thinking the worst, while he hallucinates in a dark room?

...because I'm thinking again about the times this definitely happened when he was with the Ponds.

as an aroace person who assigns no exclusivity to romance i find it very funny when people say "character x would do that for all their friends so it's not special that he did it for y" and it's like. why not? why isn't it special? does doing it for one person reduce the significance of doing it for another?

@ingravinoveritas I love how David turns to Michael to once again explain to him in person that it was a minor scratch and he was fine. It's as if Michael is constantly worrying about his every injury or slightest inconvenience (he is.)

@irvinis Oh, I love this. I definitely do think Michael is so obvious in how much he worries about David, and Michael seemingly confirmed this when he talked about being the "attack dog" who goes and speaks on his and David's behalf:

And it becomes even sweeter when you think of David calling Michael his "emotional support pet" in 2021, which shows how how much they were leaning on each other even back then, and how that's likely much more the case now:

But there are so many other ways that Michael and David have shown how much they care for/worry about each other. I'm particularly thinking of when Michael had Covid in March 2021 and was in a bad way, all while in New York filming Prodigal Son. David and Georgia were checking in on him and AL on a daily basis. I can so easily imagine David and Michael video-calling and David trying to cheer Michael up any way he could.

That also makes me think of right now, with Michael being out from Nye for several performances this week due to being sick. Only this time, he's in London, which means David could be there checking in on him in person. Maybe making him a cup of tea, or holding Michael in his arms just to help him get to sleep/calm his mind down. (It could also explain why we haven't really heard/seen anything from David since the Oliviers, but that's entirely speculation, of course.)

I just love how there are so many of these little instances of Michael and David quietly caring and worrying about each other, both in and out of the public eye, and how even the public moments are not there for visibility or to sell something, but because Michael and David just genuinely love each other. How much I wish we could all find someone who cares about us like that...
