Finally caught up with my re-listen and so this was the first time I've ever heard 159 and oh my god.

First and foremost,,, Jon's gone full avatar ! Dove into the deep end and kept swimming. I, for one, adore this. God, I am so excited to see where we go from here.

"I really loved you" - Martin Oh, okay. Okay ! I'm never recovering !! Lord !! I'm going to throw the fuck up. Oh man,,,, I genuinely started tearing up. These two get to me in such an odd way.

"I don't just want to survive" - Jon This one really got to me, honestly. Look away I'm going to be cringe for a sec, but as a Jon kinnie,,, oh man that really hit. Also I know I talk a lot of shit about Peter Lukas (and I will till I die tbf) but he does make the lonely sound so comforting. If it weren't for my affinity for knowlege and wanting to know everything about everything, I can see myself gravitating towards the lonely.

I FUCKING KNEW IT.

I knew something was up with that slimy little motherfucker. I felt it for so long and it's so incredibly satisfying to have this reveal finally. The thing that really had cemented it for me was when we learned a couple episodes back (I can't remember now) that somebody was surprised to hear that Elias was the new head of the institute and that he had apparently gone through a change ? I'd been theorizing for some time now that Jonah had somehow become Elias and I had no clue how. I figured he had gotten help from another entity somehow because I couldn't grasp how it would have happened. THIS ? This is beautiful. This is golden. This is EVERYTHING. Ohhhhh I KNEW IT !!!! Jonah Magnus you little fucking freak.

Also I'm elated to see that Martin was, in fact, playing the fuck out of Peter. He was still frustrating this season but it's nice to have confirmation that he knew full well that Peter was full of shit. We have officially reached the point where I am caught up ! I no longer know what is next or what to expect at all from this podcast so everything will now be a regular listen rather than a relisten ! Fascinating

TMA RELISTEN — MAG 154

Ohhhh my god. Genuinely I was tearing up a bit at the end when hearing just how badly Jon wanted the chance to get out of there with Martin.

Honestly, the way this is going ? They really should not at all be surprised if Jon does end up going the more monster-y route. Whenever he goes off and does something reckless on his own, he gets chastised. Now when he goes to the one person he trusts most, he still practically gets chastised and gets told that he's acting insincerely.

I love Martin very much, but the fact that he's saying that Jon came to him for an out is genuinely baffling to me. I don't know if he genuinely believes that or if he is trying to convince himself of that, but Jon would 100% gouge his eyes out if Martin gave him the go-ahead. The guy got a rib ripped out and cut his own finger off. Gahhhh Martin is so incredibly frustrating this season (and many characters are throughout the show, but that's just how it is) and I know he's locked into this path already so there's no changing his mind but goddamn. This one was rough. Worried about them all :(

This one was a rough listen, y'all. On one hand, it was so interesting. It makes a lot of sense that this is where Jon is going with his whole,,, everything. We've seen him slipping a bit more into actively using his powers as of late, and we got to see that again in the last ep. At first, he wasn't aware he had powers at all, and then down the line when he becomes more aware of certain entities/fears existing, he was often not aware that he was even using his in the first place. Then we see a shift where he is aware of these powers and actively trying not to use them very much while knowing he still has to feed his, which is a rough time for him (the whole podcast is a rough time for him lmao rip buddy), and now we've seen another shift. He is actively trying to use his powers and his moral compass might be shifting a little bit ? He still is very much the Jon we know— in the sense that he is still feeling a lot of guilt (survivor's and otherwise) over past events and that he's trying to find control in his life while doing his best to help. But we also see that he's getting more... at ease, I suppose, with feeding into his being an avatar of the eye.

On the other hand, this episode was also genuinely hard to listen to. You can really hear the character's distress and how pained she sounds by having to relive her trauma and then feeling like she can't escape it or Jon. She has no clue who he is, just that he's some freak of a guy who kinda took her autonomy away for a moment there and forced her to tell her story that she did not want to tell. It's rough. Also it really highlights the more creepy aspects about The Eye.

I've also seen the theories about her either lying or it maybe not being Jon (he wasn't at all mentioned by name), but I think the lying would be a,,, particularly bad choice on the end of the people writing the show for obvious reasons. Slippery slope thing. On it possibly not being Jon,,, idk actually. He wasn't mentioned but I think it would be a nice addition if it was him because it makes sense within the current narrative since we do see him struggling with his humanity. But hey, who knows. Could be some other supernatural bs. Haven't mentioned the ending much but Martin,,, I love and adore you but you are incredibly frustrating this season. I understand why, but lord. Still love him, I just don't like this plotline for him too much but it does make sense in the narrative so I'm locked in. Also shoutout to Daisy for being the only one here with critical thinking skills !
