I think the funniest way to explain being aro and/or ace is to just go:

"Romance and/or sex is cool, but have you ever..." and then proceed to rant about something you find cooler.

Like, sure, I'm 18 and have a pretty supportive mom who wouldn't kick me out or even get mad regardless of what I did with my romance and sex life as long as I'm safe, so I could be dating and getting laid if I really wanted to, but should that really be a priority? I don't think so.

Romance and sex are cool, but have you ever overanalyzed your favorite media in tumblr and get a bunch of people agreeing with you and being super sweet??
