Something no one ever talks about but we SHOULD:
Certain sex hormones can greatly excaberate the symptoms of already debilitating illnesses and health problems.
To my knowledge so far:
-estrogen greatly adds to ibs symptoms (personal experience between diy t and no t)
-estrogen can make seizures more common on average in epilepsy patients
-testosterone is more vulnerable to further raise high cholesterol
-etc. Will do more research from primary and secondary sources.
HRT should be more readily available to ALL. And I believe that in cases of low supply, people with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses that rely on hormone therapy should get it first whether cis or trans. Listen. Do you know how much better being disabled was for me on HRT? I hope to get back on it soon. But seriously y'all. Research any illnesses both that you have and are genetically preexposed to and how both the hormones you have and the hormones you want affect these illnesses. Do this in order to go into any hormone therapy with both eyes open. Also medical professionals should more readily prescribe high doses of birth control (generally progesterone) for menstruation related illnesses like endometriosis. We MUST fight for the right to hormone therapy, not only for our right to present as who we are as trans people, but also for disability rights, for patient rights. For several different versions of human rights. Everyone deserves the ability to make informed decisions about their hormones.

TW: medical negligence, gaslighting, and birth trauma are discussed. But so worth the read. Women and their children have a right to the best care possible.

PSA: if you can't or don't want to have vaginal exams for whatever reason, and you really need an internal ultrasound, I recommend asking your doctor to do a rectal ultrasound instead.
I had the exam done this way and it was moderately uncomfortable with a few moments of mild pain. A transvaginal ultrasound would be a hundred times more traumatic for me. Therefore I think this alternative should always be offered to patients. Know your rights - it isn't informed consent unless they offer you all the options.

Not only is access to healthcare supposed to be a right, but agency over one's healthcare choices is part of that right. It doesn't matter if people make the choices you would not make. All we can do is strive to make the choices safe and that people are given all the information they need to make that choice. It can be difficult because predatory behaviors exist, but the solution to these issues don't lie in taking away a person's choice but rather society strengthening patient protections.

Ontario's Progressive Conservative government passed a motion Monday to skip public hearings for legislation that would allow hospital patients awaiting long-term care to be transferred to a home without their consent.
I hate it here.

look, I’m tech stupid and so admittedly I don’t know how this would work, but it would be incredibly FANTASTIC if there were secure text-based/non-phone call-based ways to communicate remotely with doctors that didn’t require giving non-HIPAA-bound companies access to my personal medical data
because frankly, it sucks but yeah, I do give them access because if I have to call by phone to request each thing individually and keep track manually of when I need refills of everything (and they’re on different refill cycle lengths and from different pharmacies), I will mess up sometimes and suffer the consequences. I’m lucky, I won’t die or have my health and survival endangered or anything. I’ll just be in pain. Patient portals and communicate-via-text plans are such a wonderful sounding idea for accessibility reasons but I wish they were more secure and private...

holy shit, i get so angry when people that i work with don’t follow through when it comes to our patients and their families—we’re seeing them on their absolute worst days. we owe them consistency, compassion, and dignity. there are literally lives on the line here.

Guys with this abortion thing going on nows a better time than ever to LEARN YOUR PATIENT RIGHTS and also get to know HIPPAA very well. These things can protect you in case of an emergency.
HIPPAA makes it so your Private Health Information is protected. This is true for any case. You do not have to share any information you don't want to with your doctor nor are you obligated. But doctors are sly bastards, they will make it seem like they're obligated to have all your information, THIS IS NOT TRUE. Share what you need to in order to get the proper treatment, if you're experiencing abortion complications, say it's a miscarriage, insist it, complications look the same and the treatment is the same. DO NOT TELL DOCTORS IF YOUVE HAD AN ABORTION.
Lastly, KNOW YOUR RIGHTS! Not just your rights as a citizen but your rights as a patient in a healthcare setting. Just because you consent to treatment doesn't mean your right to refuse is revoked it simply means the doctor can treat you. If you've taken an abortion medication and they try to blood test, refuse refuse refuse. Again, doctors will try to trick you. They will try to make you believe that as long as you sign the papers you have to do whatever they say, THIS IS NOT TRUE!! If they try to do anything you don't want them to, state that you are practicing your right to refuse and that you will pursue legal action if they infringe on your right! The last thing doctors want are lawsuits. There's a shitton of other rights that protect you as a patient. Learn them know them. Carry a paper around with them listed if you have to. Don't let doctors trick you! Don't let them infringe on your rights! Doctors do not care, they will try to violate these rights, don't let them and if they do don't let them get away with it because it is 100% ILLEGAL for healthcare workers to violate your rights.
That's all.

This abortion pill "safety" lawsuit should TERRIFY you.
“For reference, pregnancy has a mortality rate of about 8.8 in 100,000, which is 15x higher. Penicillin has a mortality rate of 2 in 100,000, which is 4x higher. And interestingly, Viagra has a mortality rate  of 4 in 100,000, which is 8x higher.”

AN OPEN LETTER to THE U.S. CONGRESS
Protect IVF! Pass HR 7056 / S. 3612 the Access to Family Building Act!
796 so far! Help us get to 1,000 signers!
As a concerned constituent, I’m emailing to urge you to cosponsor H.R. 7056 / S. 3612 the Access to Family Building Act and demand it receive a vote.
The Alabama court ruling on IVF shows we need federal protection for the right to access IVF and other services that help people start or grow a family. The Access to Family Building Act would do that and protect families and doctors from criminalization. Will you sign onto this bill and publicly call for a vote on it? I will only support lawmakers that actively fight for reproductive freedom.

Friendly reminder: healthcare providers should never tell you "oh it doesn't hurt that bad." Their job is to help you make informed decisions about your care.
They don't get to decide how your body feels.

The manga industry, especially JUMP, needs to hurry up and do away with weekly scheduling for mangaka. There needs to better regulations put into place for their health and safety because this is pitiful. Two weeks - monthly updates should’ve already been the standard for the manga industry at this point. These money grabbers will only continue to put the lives of these artists at stake for the sake of capitalism unless some serious changes are implemented.

Why are people in Europe slow on the need for informed consent? This does not make sense if one thinks of all other public protests during Covid-19. Sign the petition! Inform others!
