“You got me a stocking?” - “Of course, you’re family.” For either Reggie & Ray or an AU where the Molina family adopts Reggie, please!
For my fourth and final version of this prompt, I decided to go full sci-fi dystopian AU because of course I did.
"Reassignment assessment, Reginald Peters, written portion." The computer said as he sat down at the terminal. He'd just finished the physical scan, and from the way some of the squares had coloured orange, it wasn't going great. Probably his weight and blood work, if he had to guess.
"Um, I can't... I can't write," he told the terminal. "Or read." Immediately, the keyboard disappeared, and a little speaker appeared next to the questions, with a microphone icon replacing the keyboard. He took a deep breath, and started the questionnaire.
After his dad had been caught stealing, he'd pretty much flushed away any credits their family unit had down the drain. Mom had managed to save herself by taking a blood alcohol test, proving she hadn't partaken in any of the stolen goods (though Reggie was pretty sure that was just dumb luck). She had managed to stay in her job in the kitchens, reassigned to the bunks there, instead of being sent to the jail like Dad.
But the lack of credits did mean there was no way she could keep Reggie on. And Reggie had been going to work with Dad, cleaning, since he was seven, so he couldn't be reassigned to the Kitchen bunks.
But all the credits he earned were transferred straight into the family account to pay for food and rent, so it wasn't like he had any credits of his own to rent out a room somewhere. Carl had kept him on until he was transferred to Reassessment, let him take over Dad's route as well as his own, so he'd managed to earn enough to keep himself fed while he stayed in the Cleaning bunks.
But now he had to prove he was worth keeping on permanently. Or get lucky enough that one of the better paying departments would take on a scrawny thirteen year old who couldn't read or write and wasn't deemed bright enough to get a scholarship for school when he was little.
He spoke as clearly as he could, knowing the voice-to-text AI wasn't perfect. He laid out his work history, his references (which was really only Carl). There were some weird questions at the end as well. Like his favourite colour, and his favourite class. Probably because he was a minor. He tried to keep the bitter upset tone out of his voice in case it messed with the AI when he answered. "I don't know." And: "I don't go to school."
The last question, the one about what he wanted for his future, he wasn't exactly sure how to answer. "I hope to stay on and work my way up at the Cleaning Department, or perhaps get transferred to the Kitchens," he said.
Except when he let go of the mic button to submit his answer, a flashing yellow warning came on the screen. Apparently the facial recognition had flagged the answer as dishonest, would he like to try again?
He tried again. And again. Finally, frustrated, he said: "I want to earn enough credits to be able to afford my own rooms, in whatever Department that will take me, and maybe even get enough to be able to afford a dog, or a hamster." He'd never told anyone about that dream, but it was at least flagged as truthful, and before he could edit or resubmit his answer, the test declared he was finished, and to please move on to the next room to wait for reassignment.
It was the first time he'd been alone, had his own rooms, since his dad was caught. Reggie reveled in the quiet, taking the standard issue meal from the Fabricator at set times, and catching up on some much needed sleep. After a few days, though, he got a little antsy, so when he computer terminal finally beeped that he'd been reassigned, he was thrilled. He quickly washed his face, tidying the bed and getting dressed, stepping out ready to meet Carl, or maybe even the head of the Kitchens.
Except it wasn't Carl. It was a family. A mom, a dad, a girl about his age, and a little boy. They looked like the kind of family that had enough credits to send their kids to school without scholarship credits, wearing non-standard-issue clothes and cool shoes and even jewelry.
Before he could tell them they probably had the wrong room, and that the orphanage was down the hall, the woman said: "Reginald? It's so nice to meet you!"
So it wasn't a mistake. Reggie stayed quiet as they lead him away from the Reassignment wing, up to levels and past parks where he'd only dreamed of being promoted to clean, until they arrived at their unit. Inside was big, but it still looked cozy, like a real home. The walls all had non-standard colours, there was art displayed, the furniture was non-standard issue.
"Come on, let me show you your room," the little boy, Carlos said, dragging him along. "You still have to pick your own colours and stuff, it'll be fun!"
So he got his own room. That he got to decorate. And he got to pick out non-standard-issue clothes, and they enrolled him in school, and every day Reggie was waiting for the Molinas to realise they'd made a mistake, to send him back to Reassignment, but it never came. Not even when he bombed his first pop quiz for his Writing class (the p and q were hard, okay?), or when he accidentally burned dinner helping Rose cook.
Three weeks in and they still hadn't sent him back. When he came home from school, thrilled to report that he'd actually passed a test for once (math was way easier than letters), the apartment looked... different. There were twinkly lights all around, and the furniture had been rearranged to make room for a tree, and oh. Christmas.
"Hey, mijo," Rose said, smiling from where she was hanging a garland up below the screen of the TV. It was playing a video of a fireplace, which just made the whole room feel even cozier. "How was school?"
He shyly showed her his Pad, with the bright red 100% at the top of the page on his math test. "I got my math test back," he said. He glowed with pride and maybe something else when she caught him in a hug, telling him how proud she was. She even insisted on wasting using credits to print out a copy to hang on the fridge.
"Do you want to help me decorate a little before you start your homework?" she asked. He usually waited until Ray was home, because Ray always looked over his letters and helped him sound out the really long words for his reading. He was really nice about it, too, and never got frustrated when Reggie made a mistake.
"Okay," he agreed happily, helping de-tangle even more lights, and hang pretty baubles in the tree. Ray came home from his shift, smiling and jumping right into helping decorate.
Together, they finished up the tree, except for the star. That would be put on when Julie and Carlos got home. They were in school longer than Reggie, because Rose and Ray hadn't wanted to overwhelm him. He had Writing and Reading and Math, and because Rose insisted school should be fun as well, once a week he also got to go to Music. They’d let him pick whatever he wanted, from art to sports to flight school.
Finally, Ray made him stand back and decide how high the stockings would go. He could read the names on them now. Rose and Ray both had fuzzy-looking stockings with a faux fur trim on it. Julie's was purple, of course, and shimmered in the light. Carlos' had a fabric that changed colours when you ran your finger over it, so you could draw little doodles on it.
And then Rose handed Ray the last one. It was red (he had a favourite colour now), and it looked very soft. And on it, in shimmering letters, it read Reggie.
"You got me a stocking?" he asked, startled, eyes flitting over the name again and again, just in case he misread. R-E-G-G-I-E. Reggie.
"Of course," Ray said. "You're family."
Maybe it was time to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop, Reggie thought, even as his face crumbled. Rose pulled him into a hug, Ray wrapping both his arms around him. Maybe this could be home.

Remus and James gift shopping for Sirius and Regulus and vice versa
I took a few creative liberties but this was SO MUCH FUN!
“This is impossible,” Regulus murmured, very tempted to slam his head against a nearby wall.
“James will like whatever you get him,” Sirius complained, throwing his hands up. “Remus is impossible! He only likes sweaters and books and he has a million of both!”
“Remus saves every single tissue you blow into. He’ll treasure whatever you wrap up. James has more money than he knows what to do with. What am I supposed to get him that he doesn’t already have?” Regulus shot back.
They both stood in the Muggle street, back-to-back, staring around the stores.
“Why the fuck did we go to a Muggle shopping area?” Regulus griped after a moment of silence.
Sirius shrugged helplessly. “It was supposed to be cute,” he murmured. “Like…original, or something.”
Regulus scoffed. “Let’s go,” he ordered decisively, and started dragging Sirius away.
But Sirius froze and pointed towards a small, brightly-decorated shop that looked like the advertising was aimed towards five-year-olds. “Reg, look!”
“Sirius…absolutely not.”
“C’mon, Reggie! It’s cute! Festive!”
“No, Sirius, I-”
“If you don’t come with me, I’ll tell James about that sweater you have stashed under your bed. You know, the one you stole from him and now you cuddle with every-” Sirius threatened, a devilish grin on his face.
“Fine!” Regulus agreed, trying not to turn pale. Asshole.
-
Two identical packages lay under the tree Christmas morning. One addressed to Remus and the other addressed to James.
Regulus tried not to stare at them.
“Alright, these are for you two!” Sirius said happily, gesturing to the two boxes and then to Remus and James.
Regulus tried not to hit him.
Paper was torn. Boxes opened. And inside…
“....Mugs?”
Regulus could see Remus’s lips quiver as he tried not to smile at his mug.
“We painted them, Moony!” Sirius exclaimed, with the air of a child finally able to discuss a very thrilling secret.
It was true. Sirius had blackmailed Regulus into painting mugs together in a small pottery painting shop. The experience had been rather tortuous for Regulus- to curb Sirius’s energy was difficult in a normal setting, let alone a place with so many breakable items. Indeed, Sirius was still washing paint out of his hair.
“It’s beautiful, Padfoot,” Remus grinned, looking over his mug.
Sirius immediately glowed and began pointing out all of the things he had crammed onto the mug- pictures of wolves and dogs and stars and moons and books and chocolate and so much more, all looking as though a toddler had fingerpainted it.
Remus, of course, looked no less than thrilled, nodding along and asking appropriate questions as Sirius prattled on.
James, however, was examining his mug with a very different expression.
Regulus had gone for a somewhat different approach. He’d painted the mug a deep black and painstakingly plotted out each of the stars on the Leo constellation, then taken hours to illustrate the constellation with the smallest brush he could find. The only star that was not white was Regulus- the heart of Leo.
“It’s you…and me…” Regulus explained softly to James, feeling very self-conscious. James stayed silent, turning the mug over and over in his hand, still staring. Regulus felt pressured to continue. “I know you don’t drink a lot of tea or coffee but Sirius insisted that this was original and I thought maybe this was an okay idea because, you know, you’re like the lion…because of Gryffindor…and I’m, you know…Regulus. Heart…of the lion…”
But then James looked up at him, tears in his eyes, and he trailed off, his stomach like lead. Did James hate it that much? Had he fucked up that bad? Oh, gods, was James going to break up with him? Fuck, fuck, fuck-
“It’s perfect,” James whispered reverently.
And damn, he looked amazed. He looked at Regulus like he was…in love.
And before he knew it, Regulus felt himself pulled into a kiss.
Keep sending requests, guys! I love them!

Hi! This is a fic rec of my favorite Exes to Lovers fics. These fics are organized by word count from longest to shortest. You can view my other fic recs here. Enjoy!
Given A Chance by fabby / @fabby1d (173k)
Five years after One Direction took their last tour, the last thing Louis Tomlinson ever expected to happen while on a tea run at the local Piggly Wiggly was to run into his ex-boyfriend and ex-bandmate Harry Styles.
The odds of them ever running into each other again had to be super slim, right?
Wrong.
What happens when you mix ex-boyfriends with a large serving of Small Town America? Will Louis and Harry be able to set aside their differences, or will Louis be able to stay breezy as fuck in the wake of Harry’s arrival?
(or, the one where Louis and Harry run into each other five years after One Direction ends and learn how to love each other again. Featuring: Reggie as the overweight labrador, Niall as Louis’ last grip on reality, and Nowheresville, North Carolina as the setting for Louis’ worst nightmare to come true.)
Empty Skies  by green_feelings / @greenfeelings (134k)
For three years, Harry has been running from his past. Now, he is moving to London and pledges to fulfil his only dream – making it big in the music industry. Not everyone has a place, though, and the competition is tough. As is his past catching up on him.Louis is part of the biggest boy band of the world, and getting there had meant a lot of hard work, as well as sacrificing parts of his heart and soul. He’s still happy. Maybe not as happy as he could be, but who is he to complain?
After All These Yearsby LifeInAColorWheel (127k)
It’s been seven years since One Direction went on hiatus and it’s been eight years since Louis and Harry broke up. They’ve been strangers to one another since then.
But, over the course of a weeklong boys’ trip, history between Harry and Louis resurfaces.
Or,
The one when Louis and Harry don’t talk, connect again years later, and reflect on why their love collapsed.
Bitter Tangerine by purpledaisy / @daisyharry (119k)
Maybe it’s Niall, he reasons to calm his storming heart. Maybe he’s not actually gone for the holidays yet, maybe Harry got the dates confused. Slowly, he holds his breath and pushes the kitchen door open. The first thing he sees make him jump, a wooden spoon held out like a sword. Once his brain processes the sight in front of him, it’s less the sword that gets him than who is attached to the wooden spoon.
“Harry,” the swordsmen speaks before Harry can, his voice low and steady though confusion laces each word.
Harry’s breath catches. Every string around his heart, all the protection he spent nine months building, rips out and tears open all at once as he says, “Hi Louis.”
-
AU: Nine months after they break up, a twist of fate brings Harry and Louis back together at Christmas.
Burn to Ash by bethaboo (116k)
Harry is sitting there, so fucking casual, and Louis realizes in a split second he was not ready. When Harry walked out in Detroit and never looked back, he was a boy verging on a man, still only twenty years old, but there's a man in his place now. Hard and resolute, yes, but still, for the first time in a long time, Louis can kind of see the old Harry in him. The soft, directness of his gaze, the hesitant smile he gives to Lou, the way he wrings his ridiculously large hands in his lap.
He's a little bit the eager sixteen year old puppy dog again, his innocence and sweetness resurrected miraculously, and Louis freezes in place. He was prepared to face the asshole Harry. He was prepared to meet a whole new Harry.
Louis is not prepared to meet one of the old incarnations of Harry, and it absolutely tears him up.
Or the fic where Harry spirals out of control, the band breaks up, and then he shows back up, five years later.
Mine Would Be You by crinkle-eyed-boo / @crinkle-eyed-boo (114k)
Louis blinks his eyes open, his eyelids fluttering as the room swims around him. He takes several gulps of beer once he confirms that he’s definitely not hallucinating, that the very first portrait Harry Styles ever painted of him is hanging on that wall.
Louis stares at the wall, his heart jackrabbiting in his chest as he realizes that there’s not just one painting of him, there’s five, the portraits lined up like they’re some sort of storyboard depicting the rise and fall of his deepest love. His greatest heartache. A pain that cut him so deep that he left the fucking country, severing all ties with his life in New York, now suddenly surrounding him as if he’d never left.
Fucking shit motherfucker fuck.
Louis returns to New York City five years after he left it – and the love of his life – behind. He didn’t intend to see Harry again, but fate has a funny way of pulling them together, whether they like it or not. After making a begrudging truce, they both start to wonder: Would it be so bad if history repeated itself?
Emperor's New Clothes by sunsetmog / @magicalrocketships (92K)
The fact that Louis’s most precious belonging was a cat with a face like thunder and an uncanny ability to cover every single inch of Louis’s clothing with cat hair was something that Louis chose not to think about too much.
or: Harry’s a pop star and Louis isn’t, and there’s a non-disclosure agreement where there used to be a relationship.
Perfect Storm by cherrystreet / @cherrystreet (80k)
What do you do when your best friend asks you and your (now) ex to be the best men at his destination wedding? You can either tell him the truth, tell him you’re not together anymore, and deal with the consequences, or you can pretend you’re still together and roll with it, just pray you don’t spiral. Fake it ‘til you make it. You know, for the sake of the wedding.
Harry and Louis choose the latter.
The Stars Are Guiding Me Back by coffeelouis / @coffeelouis (80k)
Directing the first ever season of The Bachelor with a bisexual star is a huge career move for Louis. After throwing himself into his career, he finally has the opportunity to prove himself as a director with a unique vision.
For Harry, being cast as the first ever Bi Bachelor means finally putting his ex-boyfriend behind him and starting anew. He's taking a chance on finding love and determined to do it right this time.
They didn't exactly think this through.
[or, the BACHELOR AU where Louis directs his ex-boyfriend Harry in his season as America's first bi bachelor.]
Consequences by allwaswell16 / @allwaswell16 (78k)
Two years ago Harry let his powerful family come between him and the love of his life, something he deeply regrets. Louis has tried to move on from their devastating break up. Sometimes, he even thinks he has. It only takes one moment to freeze them back in time.
An amnesia au
To the Ends of the Earth by stylinsoncity / @aliensingucci (68k)
During a yearlong hiatus, Louis visits Harry at his cabin in Idaho, where long-buried feelings ignite like the fire keeping them warm.
Your Memory Over Me by shimmeringevil / @shimmeringevil (64k)
Three years have passed since Louis last saw him, but all it took was a few minutes in Harry’s presence for him to be relegated to the desperate twenty-one year old that was practically begging his boyfriend for an ounce of reassurance that he still cared about him.
Harry shouldn’t be here. He’s brought too many unresolved feelings with him, that Louis thought he’d never have to face.
It’s Harry’s apparent apathy that’s the most difficult to come to terms with. Anger, he could handle. Regret, he would welcome. But Harry’s amiability, and carefree demeanor can only be born from indifference.
He’s moved on. He doesn’t care. And that is something Louis doesn’t think he’ll ever be strong enough to face.
-
OR - The worst heartbreak of Louis’ life walks right back into it when his parents invite their family friends on an all-expenses-paid trip for their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Facing a past that he tried to bury long ago, Louis learns that some people have a way of sticking with you even when they’re gone.
Far Away. by dimpled_halo (57k)
Harry swallows hard, clearing his throat. “Hi Lou,” he says, looking at Louis reluctantly. He’s even more gorgeous than he remembers, so much, he feels uneasy looking directly at him, he’s so beautiful.Louis looks at Harry, does a quick once-over and smiles, eyes so bright and blue—just how Harry remembers. “Harold!” He gets up out of his seat and embraces him into a warm hug. It’s a friendly platonic hug; one that ends way too soon. Harry wishes it would last longer so that he can breathe Louis in and memorize his new but somehow still familiar scent. It instantly leaves his body aching for more.
**** Harry returns to London after five years. Stuck in the past with "what ifs" and "what might have beens", he sees that his friends and ex (and possible love of his life) Louis have all moved on with their lives while he finds himself questioning his own life choices, past and present.
I Was Yours (I Wish You Were Mine) by staybeautiful / @harruandlou 56k)
“Harry Styles!”
His name rang out clear through the city streets. He turned quickly back to the bar, startled by his own name and startled by the voice that called him.
Standing in the doorway to the bar, back lit and glowing slightly was Louis.
Not an eighteen year old apparition dressed in the same low slung blue jeans and t-shirt with swooping bangs that was always the image in his mind. No, he was Louis now.
or Ten years ago Harry dropped his best friend and high school boyfriend off at the train station and never saw him again. Now, he's twenty seven, living in NYC, and dreadfully unlucky in love. He can't stop wistfully thinking of Louis promising that they'd see each other again in ten years time. A chance meeting outside a bar has them tumbling head first into a summer of music, milkshakes, and maybe each other.
You Taught Me How To Love (You Taught Me How To Stop) by devilinmybrain / @thedevilinmybrain (50k)
“I was always better at hand to hand than you,” Harry growls, even as he leans his weight into the blade. It’s small, sharp, has a handle of gold roses.
“I don’t know about that.” Louis moves his arm forward, makes the presence of the barrel of the gun fit snugly to Harry’s hip. “I think we just play differently.”
“You going to shoot me?” Harry asks, those wild eyes tracking over Louis’ face. “Do it.”
“I think I’ve put enough scars on you,” Louis answers, means it about the stretch marks still lining the sides of Harry’s stomach, but it lands a little too raw. There are other scars on Harry’s body that Louis blames himself for, scars inside too.
No One Does It Better by nodibs (49k)
Harry’s an alcoholic and Louis is a bartender. The first time they meet isn’t the first time they’ve met.
Drifting, Weightless by dinosaursmate / @dinosaursmate (45k)
“We’ve been asked to do a gig,” Niall said slowly. “Harry and Liam are completely up for it, I am too.” “Alright. What’s the catch?” Louis asked with suspicion. “It’s, um…” Niall cleared his throat. “So, Juliana was contacted by this themed cruise company, and they want us to do a four-day One Direction cruise.” The words hung in the air as Louis’ right eyebrow slowly crept up and he fixed Niall with a stare. “Absolutely not.” Louis rolled his eyes. “You’re essentially asking me to go on a working holiday with my ex. Stranded on a boat in the ocean for four days.” “Cruise ships are huge! You don’t have to see him in your down time.” --- Harry and Louis are exes with benefits until they're not, and the Mediterranean Sea might just be the perfect place to work through some unresolved issues.
Bloodsport by tofiveohfive / @tofiveohfive (40k)
“You know how our next game is against the Cardinals, right? You remember how vicious those guys can get. I wanted us to come up with some plays, maybe work on a block from the left—”
Louis stops when he hears a chuckle.
He doesn’t think he’s said anything particularly funny, so he turns to Harry, waiting for an explanation.
“‘S funny, ‘s all.” Harry throws his finished bottle somewhere near the other discarded ones. “This is the first time you’re talking to me in eight months, and it’s still about football.”

Angst (cause these are SO good)
I- I don't believe you! There- there's no way they're gone..." || "Denial isn't going to bring them back, (Name)" - PeterPatterLina
“You got everything boss?”
Julie looked over her room-all the empty spaces, the overflowing boxes and suitcases by the door. Plus all the things she was leaving behind, second guessing her decisions for what felt like the millionth time.
“I think so, but if there’s anything I forgot you guys can always bring it to me,” she replied.
Reggie sent Luke a cheeky grin then. “I think she just implied we’re mailmen or something.”
“You could never do that job-dogs would hate you,” Luke joked.
“Plus the whole ghost thing,” Julie added, earning a rare scowl from her usually sunshiney boyfriend.
“You nervous?” Luke asked, fiddling with the zipper of the bag on her bed.
“Of course!” Julie replied. “But I’m excited too, college is going to be a brand new adventure.”
“And you’re sure you want us to come with you?” Reggie asked, eyes downcast as he played with the ends of his flannel.
“Positive,” she stated firmly. “I love you both, and I know you can’t go to college yourselves, so this will be the next best thing.”
Luke grinned, pulling Reggie into a hug. “Come on babe, like Jules would ever leave us.”
“She might if you don’t get your shoes off her bed,” Julie replied. Luke poofed to the couch, never losing his grin.
Later, after triple checking everything, Julie slipped into her bed for what felt like the last time, even though she knew she’d be back for Christmas. Luke and Reggie on either side of her, soft sleepy smiles all around.
Her dad had already said goodnight, and told the boys they were welcome to stay-he trusted them to be smart and safe. He supported their odd little relationship even if he didn’t always get it, and Julie loved that about him.
Though as much as she wanted to stay up all night, she eventually drifted off, her boys joining her soon after.
Only when Julie got up, she woke up alone.
The guys weren’t around anywhere she looked-the house, the yard, the studio. Where were they? She needed to go soon and she wanted to say goodbye to Alex before she did-he was staying here with Willie with promises of frequent visits.
“Willie!”
The skater ghost usually came if she called-she could see him, though not touch like she could her bandmates. As long as he wasn’t keeping the guests of the HGC happy, he usually appeared in moments. Today was no exception.
“Hey Ju Ju, sup? Thought you were headed off to college today?” He asked.
“I am but I can’t find the guys to say goodbye,” she explained.
Willie hummed, searching for the familiar feel of Alex, Luke, and Reggie that he could usually follow. Frowning when he came up empty. The last time he had felt that, the guys had been trapped at the club. But there's no way they could have gone there right?
He looked at Julie's worried face and his expression turned serious. "I think... I think we need to talk to Caleb."
Julie froze internally-Caleb had been a constant thorn in their side for ages now. She thought after she got rid of his mark he'd leave them alone, but that hadn't been the case. Scheme and plot after scheme and plot had him trying to take her ghosts away. Why had she assumed a long stretch of silence from him meant he was giving up?
Resolute, she summoned all her magic, all her love and grabbed a hold of Willie's skateboard-the only part of him she could touch, and even that took some strain. "Take me to him. And don't ask me if I'm sure."
Willie nodded, and concentrated on the club. He didn't like poofing Julie places; it wore him out, and made him vulnerable, but he also knew she was determined, so not to mess with her. The club shimmered into view, and once they were solid on it's grand staircase, Willie let himself collapse, giving Julie a weak smile. "I'll be alright. Go find out where our boys are."
Julie nodded, determined, and marched towards the large, imposing, sparkly figure on the floor. He spotted her immediately, giving her that shark's grin of his. "Why Miss Molina, always a pleasure."
"Can it Covington, where are my boys?" she demanded, hands on hips, face serious.
"I assure you I have no idea," Caleb replied. "You know I would love to gloat if I had them."
"You also love to lie," she snapped back. "So where are they?"
Caleb's smile faded then, eyes icy and hard. "I am a lot of things Miss Molina, a liar amongst them. But right now, I am telling you the truth-I don't have your friends. Nor do I know who does."
Julie deflated a little-she could tell he was telling her the truth-his stony contenance spoke to that. "Then where are they?"
Caleb hummed, looking her up and down. "Have you considered they might be... gone?"
"Gone?"
"Crossed over my dear, to whatever afterlife was supposed to await them," Caleb replied. "You knew it could-nay would happen some day correct?"
Julie froze at that-surely if they were going to cross over, they would have told her right? To say goodbye? "I- I don't believe you! There- there's no way they're gone..."
Caleb looked smug then, and somehow, completely unimpressed as well. "Denial isn't going to bring them back, Miss Molina. I suggest you adjust to your new reality-one without ghosts."
Julie collapsed on the floor, unable to keep herself up. So that was it? They were just gone? No goodbye?
No chance to get one last brotherly hug from Alex as he made a sarcastic quip?
No last lingering kiss from Luke and Reggie as they tried and failed not to cry to leave her with a watery smile?
No getting to tell them how much she loved them?
But that was usually the way of things-she had said goodbye to her mother, but still felt there had been so much to say when she passed. The first time, when those jolts had nearly done them in, she was sure that she wouldn't get to really wish the guys well. That had been half the reason she had went out to the garage, and ended up saving them.
She didn't think she would be able to save them this time.
The club melted away as she sobbed, finding herself back in her bedroom-a move of pity or annoyance from dealing with her from Caleb, she wasn't sure. She just knew that as her tears soaked her pillowcase, that her life was now all the emptier.
"Mija?" her dad asked from the doorway, "I know it' sad to go Julie, but you'll be back for Christmas, come on, we've got to get on the road."
Julie sniffled, nodding, letting herself move on pure automatic instinct-life didn't stop just because you were grieving. She gathered what things were left in her room, looking around one last time in vain, as if that would make the guys pop out in some sort of cruel prank.
But they never did.
"You got everything?" Ray asked as he shoved the last of the bags into the car. "Said all your goodbyes?"
Julie nodded numbly. "Let's go."
And didn't let him know that her shattered heart would never heal over the goodbyes she didn't get to say, and that the most important things she had planned to bring with her-would never get the chance to go.
A loss she would never recover from, and a regret that would haunt her for the rest of her life.

Forever and Always | S.B
Paring: Young!Sirius Black X Fem!Reader
Summary: Sirius departs his girlfriend after the Potter’s death to start his time in Azkaban but comes back to an amazing welcome.
She was pacing in the living room that belonged to her and her boyfriend. Said boyfriend had just left the house to check on their best friends, James Potter and Lily Potter. It had only been months since leaving Hogwarts, yet they had to become adults almost instantly due to Voldemort rising. Now she was bearing the news of being pregnant in the midst of a war. Nothing could be worse, right?
Everything happens for a reason. Moments later, her boyfriend had apparated back into their shared home. His body was shaking with sobs, and his eyes couldn’t meet hers. Sirius’s body collapsed on the floor. He didn’t have the strength to bring himself back onto his own feet. She took him into her arms, holding him securely against her chest.
“ They’re dead. “ Sirius managed through sobs, “ I couldn’t save them. “
It became hard to swallow, “ I- I heard her scream. I couldn’t do anything. “
“ It’s okay; we’ll get through this together. “ Y/n shushed as he cried, “ We- We won’t. “ Sirius murmured.
“ What do you mean? “ Y/n pulled away to look at him, “ It was him. “
“ Who? “ Y/n questioned, “ Peter. He- He gave away their position, and I went after him. Bloody idiot turned into a rat after cutting off his finger. The Aurors will be coming after me soon. “ Sirius confessed.
Without explanation, she took his face in her hands. Y/n’s eyes roamed over the entirety of his face. She was taking him in entirely before he’d be out in Azkaban for a crime he didn’t do. Sirius sniffled but did the same to her. His airway felt blocked as he took in his soon-to-be wife.
“ When they take me away, there’s a box in my nightstand for you. Take it. “ Sirius swallowed, “ I love you. “
She nodded, “ Of course. And, there’s something I need to tell you as well. “
“ I- I’m pregnant. “ Y/n’s voice wasn’t louder than a whisper, and a smile crept on Sirius’ face, “ I trust you, more than I probably should. “ Sirius began.
“ I’m sorry I can’t be there. But I promise I will escape, and I will come back for you and them. “ He completed, “ I know, and I love you. Forever and always? “ Y/n stated.
“ Forever and always. “ Sirius confirmed.
On cue, a knock echoed through the house. They both stood, and Sirius opened the door where he met his inevitable fate. He was sentenced to life in Azkaban with no trial and sentenced to prison with the charges of the deaths of his best friends. But strangely, he felt no remorse. He felt content leaving because he knew that his fiancé and child would be waiting for him.
It was a rough year for both of them. Sirius was adjusting to Azkaban, and Y/n was getting used to having a newborn and a two-year-old. Thankfully after much fighting, she was able to take custody of Harry. The only embodiment of her two best friends. Y/n couldn’t have been happier to receive news that Harry would be in her company for the rest of his life.
Years past and now Harry was beginning his shopping at Diagon Alley for shopping with Y/n and his unrelated cousin. After a long debate in her own mind, she decided to name her son after the strongest man she knew, Regulus. It took nine months to select and confirm that it would be his name finally. Y/n could only hope Sirius would be okay with it.
“ Are you excited, Harry? “ Y/n asked after he had received his wand, “ I can’t believe it! “ Harry exclaimed excitedly.
Y/n smiled, “ James and Lily are proud of you, love. Please remember that. “
“ You think so? “ Harry questioned, “ I know so. “ Y/n replied with a playful scoff.
“ How about we get some ice cream at Florean Fortescue's and apparat home? “ Y/n queried, and Regulus perked up, “ Ice cream?! “
“ Yes, please! “ Harry responded, and she smiled, “ Come on, boys. “
The night was young when they returned home. Both boys thrilled with getting ice cream for dinner instead of the typical savory meal Y/n would cook. Harry and Regulus got along fantastically. They indeed were the embodiment of their fathers. Regulus couldn’t be more like Sirius, and Harry couldn’t be more like James. Sometimes she had to take a step back and remember that they weren’t them.
Her statement was only proven true when she found out that Harry had fallen into step with a three-headed dog. Y/n couldn’t do anything but chuckle lightly at the mischief he was creating while only being a first year. It was strangely refreshing after the years of quiet. Y/n stood at the kitchen countertop looking at the half-filled moon twisting the ring on her finger.
Two more years went by, and finally, Regulus was in his second year. Harry now in his third. Both boys managed to get into Gryffindor. No surprises there. Their parents were Gryffindors. The news of Sirius Black’s escaped made things more than hopeful for Y/n. He fulfilled his promise just like she knew he would. Now knowing his escape was successful, the house couldn’t have felt more empty.
Until a big black dog showed up on her doorstep during Christmas, Harry always opted for staying at Hogwarts while Regulus stated he missed home. Regulus was in his bedroom when Y/n opened the door. The black fur made her laugh and cry tears of joy while he trotted in the house as if nothing ever happened. It was a breath of fresh air. Padfoot panted as she petted his fur, closing the wooden door behind her and the blinds.
Then he was human again, “ Hi, love. “
“ Hi, Sirius. “ Y/n smiled and hugged him tightly, “ I missed you. “
“ I missed you too, darling. “ His arms felt skinner, but he held her close to him.
When they pulled away, he pulled her in for a kiss. It was slow and sensual. The kiss wouldn't lead up to anything. It was a promise fulfilled. His arms went down to her waist while hers went around his neck. Her hands were running through his matted black hair, but that didn’t matter. She had her fiancé back. After the kiss, he nuzzled his nose with hers.
“ A little birdy told me that I was bound to have a son before I left. “ Sirius began, still holding Y/n tight to him, “ I’d like to meet him if he’s here. “
“ Are you sure? “ Y/n queried, cupping his cheek noticing his nervousness, “ Yeah. “ Sirius kissed the palm of her hand.
Carefully she separated from him and cleared her throat, “ Reggie! “ She called, and Sirius was taken aback, “ Regulus? “ He murmured.
“ Coming, mom! “ Regulus called back as he came down the steps to see a man beside his mom.
Their appearances matched. The same black hair but slightly wavy. The inherited grey eyes that seemed to be passed down through the Black family. The defined structure of the face. Everything was there. Just by looking at him, you could tell he was a Black. Instead of the coldness in the grey, there was warmth and kindness—something most Blacks didn’t have.
“ He- He’s Sirius Black. “ Regulus muttered, “ You’re- You’ve escaped Azkaban. “
“ You know who he is. “ Y/n stated, and he nodded, “ You’re- You’re my father. “ Regulus stammered out, staring cautiously at the man.
Sirius chuckled, “ I believe so. “
It didn’t take much. Regulus was already in his arms, hugging tighter than he should’ve. The pain in Sirius’ back was throbbing at the tightness of the hug, but that didn’t matter. His son was in his arms, and he finally made his way back to his family. It didn’t matter, and it didn’t feel like twelve years had passed because with his son in his arms, Sirius felt strong.

MASTERLIST
------------------------------------------------------
September
"When do we have our first interview?" you asked the boy whose head was in your lap. He looked up from his phone and your eyes locked with his green ones "Hmm, my calendar says in about 30 minutes."
You groaned at that and stopped playing with Charlie's hair which earned you a grunt and whine from him. "Sorry babe but I think I have to go, so I still have time to get ready and set up." You muttered and gave him a small kiss on his brown hair.
"Uhh fine." The weight lifted from your legs, you stood up and before you knew it you were thrown over his shoulder. Laughing, you slapped his butt and back repeatedly. "Babe! I mean it" you tried to press out between giggles, "we both decided to keep us a secret." He sat you down on the kitchen isle and cornered your body in between his arms, standing right in front of you, you're back hitting the kitchen cabinet.
"I know... come back later?" he asked and tilted his head, looking at you with big puppy eyes. "You know it." After a swift kiss, or rather a little make out session, you were on your way back to your own appartement. Just in time to change your top and put on a lip-gloss before opening your laptop and joining the interview.
"Hello everybody! I'm here with the cast of Netflix' Julie and the Phantoms that came out on Thursday. How are you guys?" the interviewer asked and smiled into the camera of his laptop. The whole cast chirped in with a good, great, or amazing.
"That's fantastic!" he clapped his hands "Now, Jeremy, how would you describe your Character and the show in general?"
"It's a show about ghosts from 1995 who come back 25 years later and join a band with Julie who didn't sing a note after her mother died. Reggie, the character that I play, is one of those ghosts and he is a loveable himbo. Did I use that word correctly Maddie?"
Maddie smiled and the interviewer changed the topic "Madison and y/n, birds have told me that this was your first ever acting job is that right?"
You nodded and signaled Maddie to speak first "Yes, and it was both amazing and traumatizing! I was so nervous, but the crew really helped to calm me down, especially y/n who just was in the same position as me, so we freaked out together most of the time." She smiled and the interviewer waited for you to answer. "Except, Maddie had a least some acting training at school, that's why she is the best. I more or less walked into the whole situation." You said laughing.
"I love this story." Jeremy exclaimed, making you slightly blush at his words.
"Would you be so kind and tell us?" the interviewer questioned and smiled at your little nod.
"Yes, yes of course. Well, I was on vacation with one of my good friends from back home..."
"She means Germany." Owen interrupted with a smile on his lips. "Yes, Owen. Thank you for adding important details. Anyways, we saw that there was an Open Audition nearby and though why not? We don't have anything to lose or to do on that particular day. And here I am, my friend sadly didn't get in."
"That really is an amazing story, I can see why Jeremy likes it so much. So, Charlie how would you describe y/n's and Luke's characters, she wasn't supposed to be in the script and was later added in right?" Charlie quirked up at the mention of your name and stated proudly. "Indeed, she impressed Kenny so much that he wrote a character just for her. He thought that Sunset Curve, the band name before we died, needed a female to handle their chaos or well... at least tries to. Y/N plays Allie, who against common speculation isn't any of the boys' love interest which is a very nice turn of events. She and Luke bud head a lot because Luke only thinks about music and the band and she tries hard to make him take breaks every now and then."
A lovesick smile sat on your face while you listened to your boyfriend of nearly a year, once you realized your expression you quickly shook it off. Hiding this relationship was definitely going to be harder than expected.
The Interviewer asked some more questions before the last and dreaded question was thrown your way. "So, most of your fans are wondering if any of you guys are in a relationship." You and Charlie had discussed a million times before what you guys would say in such a moment, the two of you shared a look.
Jeremy's eyes switched from Charlie's box on his screen to y/n's before answering "I have a lovely wife! The rest of us are happily single, right guys?"
"100%" Maddie added, while Owen only shrugged, his dog conveniently jumping into his lap.
"How about the other two?" he eyed up the last remaining.
"Very single" Charlie laughed, and you agreed "Totally."
As time went on it was harder and harder for the two of you to hide the relationship, as you two spent nearly every day together and therefore did the same activities. Particularly after your social media accounts have gained over a million followers and people started to ship actors and tv show characters. But you two loved the little secret bubble you've created, there was no pressure to take good pictures together, or to post stories, to be asked a thousand questions about your relationship and no hate towards any of you.
December
It has been 4 months since the show released and the hype it got definitely was way more than you ever expected. It blew your mind. Currently, you are on Charlie and yours one-year anniversary / Christmas / good deeds vacation. Charlie and you found a good mix, that made you both happy, between chilling and doing adventurous things.
It was Christmas eve and Maddie wanted to do a 'guess the song Christmas Edition' with the main cast. Eagerly you agreed and hurried from the beach, where Charlie currently took the quiz at the bar you both sat on just minutes before, to your shared bedroom. You shot Maddie a quick text that you were 'out of the relationship zone' and ready when she was ready.
"Helloooo. How did the others do?"
"Not the worst but I still have faith in you to win this. ARE YOU READY?" she screamed the last part.
“I’m going to read you the lyrics of a christmas song and you have to guess the next line. There are certain cards that give one point and others give two. Whoever has the most points at the end…”
“Hopefully get your earrings” you asked with a sly smile and your shoulders raised.
Maddie laughed but shook her head “Sadly, no. I haven't figured out the price yet, but I for sure will! I like your backdrop by the way.” she added and you quickly looked behind you. You sat crisscrossed on the hotel room floor, you used the coffee table and a water bottle as a phonestand and used a white checkered wall as a background to try and hide the fact that you didn't sit in your living room.
January
“This should be the last box.” you cheered into the empty hall and shut the front door with a light push from your hip. Charlie popped his head out of the bedroom and walked over to, dropping his head on your shoulder in exhaustion. Nothing was set up, boxes stood randomly all over the apartment, the fridge stood there still empty and a lonely mattress covered the bedroom floor.
“The walls look a bit bare don't you think?” you said about a week later, standing in the middle of the now a bit furnished living room. Strong arms sneaked their way around your waist and a head dropped on your shoulder.
“Hmm… you're right. What do you have in mind?” Charlie said and turned you around so you were facing him. He smiled at the spark in your eyes “I was thinking, a yellow akzent wall with random secondhand pictures and some pictures of us, all in frames of course. So it's gonna have this homey and creative atmosphere.” You rambled on for a while longer, telling him where you think his instruments could go, the pillows you saw online and thought they worked perfect with the colour of the couch. Charlie just stared at you, a dumb smile on his lips with his arms around you.
“Do you not like it?” you noticed that he hasn't talked for a while and got worried. “I love it. We could live in a dumpster for all I care, as long as I have you by my side.” You fake gaged at his romantic words and gave him a kiss.
The first time people got really suspicious was the time you accidentally walked in on a live he had on Instagram. He sat in front of his instruments, phone propped up before him. You thought that he was already finished but you were wrong.
“Do you think this…” you walked into the room, a shirt in your hand that you just took out of the dryer and lost your words the moment you saw him sitting in front of his phone. He looked at you with wide eyes, his brain clearly searching for a good excuse.
“Is that y/n?” he read outloud from the chat, gesturing you do sit next to him. “Yes it's her! We’re hanging out and she helped me with my washing because I somehow still don't know how to do it.” he laughed nervously, his hand grabbing yours out of the frame.
“He promised me food and I live really close by, so I thought I'll help this poor man out.”
May
Looking back at this moment now, you and Charlie weren't sure why you just didn't come clean. You didn't mean to hide the relationship this long, it just kinda happened and at one point it just got too awkward to tell. It was fairly easy to hide most of the time, you didn't most that much on instagram and Charlie only showed parts of his daily life.
The easiest was the time you filmed JATP Season 2. You were expected to hang out and live together. Back in 2019 you already lived with Owen and Charlie. This time poor Owen had to live with a couple instead of just two friends. (You were already dating for a while back then but didn't tell the cast, to not make a fuss.)
It wasn't like the fans didn't suspect a thing, especially after Owen posted a video of you two fooling around.
Everybody sat outside, enjoying the everwarming sun on their skin. Half of the cast was already in costume just waiting for the break to end. In typical Allie (your character) fashion you wore an overall with a tight tank top underneath, your makeup stood out from the others with the heavy blush, freckles and black eyeliner.
Charlie, in his Luke wardrobe, thought that it was funny to stand in front of you to shield you from the sun.
"Stop that" you whined and tried to shove him away, which was harder than you thought considering he stood before you and you sat on a bench.
"Make me." He flirted and stood even wider before you, puffing out his chest. Raising an unimpressed eyebrow, you stole his beany with a swift motion. His expresion quickly changed from cocky to shocked, snickering was heard from Maddie who was used to this type of behaviour.
"Ups… heavy wind blows in the shadows." You explained nonchalantly and pulled the beany on your head, sticking your tongue out at your boyfriend.
"Oh it's on my lady" he growled "I'm giving you a three second advantage. One…" your eyes widened and your heart rate picked up. "Two…" you got up and scanned the place internally making a good running line. "Th-.." you began sprinting across the lot. You heard the laughing from your castmates behind you as you and Charlie ran in circles.
Unfortunately, he was still fitter and faster than you and about a minute into the running he had you thrown over his shoulder.
"Surrender!" he screamed as you tried to wiggle out of his grip.
"Never!" You screamed back and wiggled even harder.
"Surrender or i'll have to tickle you" he warned and those were the last words Owen was able to film before a producer yelled that the break was finished.
February
“Baby, if I would believe this News Article, you have a secret girlfriend, but it's not me.” you showed him your phone screen.
“I’m not cheating on you. I would never, i'd die rather than…” his frantic expression made you snort. “I know. Oh my god! People saw you with Lia.” you held his hands comfortably.
“Lia as in your best friend Lia?”
“The one and only. People noticed the hickeys... At least they’re getting closer now. So are we still on for the masterplan? You by instruments and I'm gonna sit in the bedroom?" He nodded and smiled at the sight of your equally plastered neck.
Eventually, before you even were able to execute the as you'd like to say 'masterplan' your relationship got outed. I mean it was time, the two of you getting lazier with the hiding as time went by.
Fans noticed that you wore a lot of Charlie's things and that you and him always seemed to be at the same place at the same time. It was actually one of your lives that spilled the secret.
"That's a really nice akzent wall" you read outloud from the chat "oh thank you! It was a long process to get all the pictures but it was actually Charlie's idea to not only have pictures but also plane tickets, date memories and so on hung up on that wall. It really makes it homey. I think to get that wall this crowded it took us...what? About well since we moved in…" you didn't even realise what you said you just babbled and then it was out.
"Charlie actually is home! I could call him. Babe! Come here for a sec- oh my god!" Your hands flew up to your mouth in realizion.
From that moment on you were public and your social media exploded once again. However the two of you were happy to finally show each other off.

Why you decided to take that big, dumb dog with you shopping that morning, you’ll never know. But you’re certainly glad that you did. You had been cooped up with your sister’s dog while she was out of town and figured he could use a walk. Since you wanted to go to the open air markets, you didn’t think it would be a problem for him to come with.
But as you’re waiting for your coffee order, he pulls the leash out of your hand. You turn and watch him tackle a man in a red hoodie. “Reginald!” you scream after him and rush over. When you pull the giant dog off the man, you see the bagel in the dog’s mouth. “Bad dog!” You try to take the bagel away, but Reginald refuses to relinquish it. Hearing a groan, you look back at the man and find him clutching his wrist.
“Shit! Are you okay? Oh fuck, your wrist is swelling! I’ll get a cab to take you to the hospital.”
“No, no, it’s fine! I—” He winces in pain.
“I’ll pay for everything; don’t worry about it.” You flag down a cab and help him into it.
🎄
After you drop the dog off at home, you catch a cab to the hospital. Realizing you didn’t ask the man’s name, it takes a while to track him down through the emergency room. When you find him, he’s in an exam room with a bandage on his wrist.
“I’m sorry that my dog tackled you for your bagel—I swear I feed them. Anyway, I got you a balloon from the hospital gift shop.” Awkwardly, you hold out the cheery mylar balloon with Get Well Soon!imprinted on it.
He takes it. “Thanks. And it’s cool, really.”
“How’s your wrist?”
“Sprained. Doc said it’ll be fine in like a week.”
“Again, I am so sorry. I mean it—I’ll pay for everything. It’s not even my dog—he’s my sister’s.”
“He looked cute. Can’t blame him for wanting that bagel—it was a really good one.”
“There’s a bagel shop around the corner. They have these seasonal gingerbread bagels. Can I take you there once you get released?”
He gives you a wide, goofy grin and you’re struck with the thought that he’s certainly cute.
“Yeah. Totally.”
You tell him your name.
“Juan Alvarez, but everybody calls me Alvie.”
🎄
You and Alvie walk to a bench near the Christmas market, his balloon tied to his wrist.
“Wow, this is even better than the bagel your dog stole! You should save a bite for him.”
You laugh. “No way! After he injured you, Reggie doesn’t deserve a treat.”
Alvie waves his hand. “I don’t blame him. Dogs do their thing. Plus, I got to meet you, so that’s nice. Because you’re really nice.”
“Thanks, I think you’re nice, too.” You can feel your cheeks heating up and you take a bite of your bagel to hide it.
“I love just watching people go by, don’t you? And this time of year people seem happier than normal. Though I guess some of them are kinda stressed.”
“Yeah, the holidays can be hard for some people. Do you have family around?”
“Nah, just me. My mom died when I was little and my dad split before that. You have a sister?”
You nod. “Haley. And my nephew, Theo. He’s seven.”
He bounces up. “Look at these! Would he like a stuffie?” He holds one out to you.
You gasp. “I love penguins! They’re just so round and cute.”
“Then this one’s yours.”
🎄
“I still don’t think that dog deserves anything after spraining your wrist!”
“Of course Reginald needs a present, too—don’t be ridiculous!” Alvie holds up the stocking filled with dog toys and treats.
You smile and add it to the pile of gifts you’ve bought for your sister and nephew.
“Oh, this would be perfect for Three Kings Day!” You turn around and see Alvie wearing an ornate crown. When he strikes a pose, you laugh and almost drop the presents.
“Let me help you carry those.”
“You’ve only got one good arm!” Finding yourself not wanting your time with Alvie to end, you say, “But if you’re up for it, I could use help wrapping these…”
“That would be fun! I just gotta grab my stuff quick—I can’t leave it there all day.”
You follow him to a nearby building where you wait as he goes inside. It takes you a minute to realize this is a homeless shelter.
When Alvie returns with a duffel bag and sees the look on your face, he seems embarrassed. “I’m just kinda between places right now.”
“Oh.” You’re not sure what to say, so you just lead him to your apartment.
🎄
Though Alvie is enthusiastic about wrapping, his skills leave something to be desired. So you let him curate the holiday music because you’re really enjoying watching him sing and dance around your studio apartment.
"Christmas music just makes me happy, you know?"
You look down at the gift you're working on.
"You don't like Christmas music? We can listen to something else—"
"No, I do like it. It's just that Christmas sometimes makes me a little sad because my parents aren't around anymore. I—I have depression."
He crouches beside you. "I get that feeling sometimes, too. But I’m manic so hey—we can even each other out!”
You can’t help but laugh with him.
“You on meds? They’ve helped me a lot.”
“Yeah, I am.” You bite your lip. “Is that why you stay at the shelter?”
“I been in and out of the hospital, so it’s tough to find a job.”
The idea pops into your head and out of your mouth, “Stay with me.”
“No way, I don’t wanna ruin your holidays. That’s not what you want for Christmas.”
"I don't want anything else; I want you to be here."
“Really?” You smile and nod. “Okay.”
🎄
Tumblr media
.
When you come home from work, Alvie bounds in front of you, wrapped in a blanket. “I got you a present!”
He holds out a paper bag. Inside you find a sweater with a penguin on it. “It’s so cute!” you squeal.
He throws off his blanket, revealing his matching one. You laugh and change into yours.
“Thank you—I love it! But you don’t have to buy anything for me.”
“I didn’t. I just want to say thanks for letting me stay with you.”
“You didn’t… buy them?”
He bites his lip. “I thought it would make you happy.”
“Alvie, I appreciate the thought, really. But don’t steal things, okay? If you need money you can ask me.”
“I’m going to earn my own money.”
“Okay.”
“Are you mad at me?”
“No, it’s okay.”
Abruptly he lunges to hug you, holding you tightly. You smile, your chin on his shoulder.
When he lets go, you say, “Hey, I had an idea—wanna go look at all the Christmas lights?”
Alvie claps his hands. “Yes! That would be awesome!”
Walking around your neighborhood, the lights are beautiful. But not as beautiful as Alvie’s face as he takes them all in.
🎄
While you are watching a movie with Alvie, everything suddenly goes dark. You yelp and reach for Alvie’s hand.
He asks, “What happened?”
“Shit—the power must have gone out. That happens sometimes, but usually not in the winter!”
Alvie helps you gather candles and strategically place them around the apartment. “It’s kinda pretty in here.” He looks at your apprehensive face. “It’s going to be okay.”
“I know; I’m just worried about it being too cold tonight.”
“I’ll be fine; I’m used to it.” Your heart breaks a little at this comment. “We’ll pile all the blankets on top of you.”
“I don’t want you to be cold, either.” You look at the couch where he normally sleeps. “If you want—just for tonight—you could sleep in my bed. So we both stay warm enough.”
He smiles. “That sounds nice. As long as you’re all right with it.”
“Well, I suggested it,” you laugh.
Alvie brings the extra blankets and snuggles in with you. Your bodies fit together easily and you quickly drift off. When the lights come on hours later, you turn them off and return to bed. Alvie sighs contentedly and pulls you in close again.
🎄
Alvie is rolling around on the floor with your nephew, Theo, and the dog, Reginald. You stand in the kitchen with your sister, Haley, and watch the chaos.
“Okay, so you told me how you met, but how did he end up staying with you?”
“Well your dog almost broke his wrist and he didn’t have anywhere to stay…”
“Reggie is a menace, but I don’t want you to be taken advantage of.”
“I’m not, really.”
She sips her coffee and gives you a dubious look. When there is a lull in the noise, she asks, “Alvie what do you do?”
“I freestyle!”
“What’s that?”
Alvie stands up.
This dog tackled me
But I don’t blame him
Cos we both agree
That bagel was the best
In this whole damn city
Theo giggles, but your sister stares blankly.
“Damn, tough crowd.” He shrugs and joins the melee on the floor again.
“Well, he does seem to be good with kids,” Haley says.
“It’s been nice having him stay with me. He helps me around the apartment.”
“You don’t need help in that tiny place.”
“Well, then… he’s been good for my mental health.”
She takes your hand. “Just be careful.”
🎄
When you come home from work, you find Alvie hiding under a mound of blankets on the couch.
“Alvie, what’s up?” You approach slowly and sit on the couch.
“Too much paperwork.”
“What do you mean?”
An arm extends from the blankets and points to the coffee table. There are several pieces of paper and you see they’re job applications.
“Alvie, that’s great that you’re applying for jobs! Can I help you?”
The tip of his nose appears. “No, I’m giving up.”
You take one of the papers. “It looks like you got pretty far on this one.”
“Doesn’t matter; nobody wants to hire me, anyway.”
“Hey, I’m sure that’s not true.” After putting the paper back down, you wrap your arms around the Alvie-shaped blanket pile. “Come on, let’s finish these together and I can do practice interviews with you.”
Finally his face fully emerges. “Yeah?”
You nod. “Here, let’s start where you left off on this one…”
“I don’t have an address.”
“Yes, you do—you’re living here, aren’t you? Now, let’s figure out which of your past jobs are relevant to each of these.”
At last he smiles and presses his forehead against your shoulder. “Thank you.”
🎄
To celebrate dropping off Alvie's job applications, you take him to the local park that hosts winter activities every evening.
"Do you want some hot apple cider?" You point to the sign from a local brewery.
"Only if they have alcohol-free; I'm not supposed to drink with my meds."
They do, so you get two cups, watching the steam rise from them as Alvie sniffs his.
“You didn’t need to get yours without booze.”
You shrug. “I don’t need to drink to have fun.”
As you drink your cider, you watch some kids playing in the snow. Then Alvie exclaims, "Oooo, they have free ice skating!" He grabs your hand and pulls you over to the rink.
After you get skates in both your sizes, you step on the ice together. "Do you know how to skate?" you ask.
"A little. You?"
You vigorously shake your head. "Ice skating is a ridiculous thing to do-- no, do NOT let go of my hand!" You cling to Alvie to stay upright. He laughs and assures you it will be fine.
After a while you get the hang of it and glide around the rink together, Alvie never letting go of you.
🎄

.
You normally didn't have a Christmas tree in your little apartment, but Alvie seems so excited about the prospect that you give in. After paying a ridiculous amount of money to a nearby tree lot, he helps you get it home. Haley gives you some old ornaments and you pick up a few shiny baubles from the store.
As you wrestle with the lights, Alvie dances around to Feliz Navidad.
"Not this fucking song again!" You screech.
"But it's so good to dance to! I thought you liked it?" He pouts.
"I liked it the first couple times you played it but now it's getting old. Put on something else!"
Alvie huffs, but changes the music. You finally plug the lights in and see Alvie's brown eyes sparkle at the sight. Together you hang the ornaments all over the branches. When you finish, you make cocoa with marshmallows and sit on the couch with Alvie.
He puts his arm around you. "Looks pretty great, doesn't it?"
“Yeah, it does. But you don’t have much room in here now.” You stretch out your foot and touch a branch, the ornament on it bobbing.
“I’ll trade space for Christmas cheer any day.”
🎄
Both of you are feeling cooped up in the tiny apartment, so you go out for dinner. Knowing Alvie can't drink, you pick a family place instead of a microbrewery like you normally would.
The place is loud, but the food is good. You both order pasta and laugh at each other when you invariably get marinara on your shirts.
As you're waiting for the check, Alvie spots a claw machine in the corner. "Oooo, I'm pretty good at those!"
He runs over and fishes some crumpled bills out of his pants. After you pay the check, you join him as he's in the process of trying to catch a cute bear with a bow on it. But as soon as the claw grabs it, it drops back down.
Alvie bangs his palm against the plexiglass. “If I don’t get this teddy bear right now, I will die.”
"That's a little too dramatic for this situation."
“Whatever.” He stalks back to the table you were at, but it’s already being cleared. He looks at you. “You paid?”
You nod.
“Let me pay you back…” His pockets are empty. “Fucking claw machine.”
He stomps out of the restaurant and you follow.
🎄
You catch up to Alvie on the sidewalk. “Are you okay?”
He keeps walking and doesn’t say anything.
“Alvie…”
When he stops you move in front of him and see the tears streaming down his cheeks. He turns his face away and wipes at his nose with the back of his hand. “I’m not your charity case; I don’t want your pity.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I don’t want you to have to pay for everything, but I’m broke and useless! I can’t do anything right. I couldn’t even win a stupid teddy bear for you.” He covers his face with his palms. “Why do you even want me around?”
“Hey, I want you around because I like you.” You take his hands in yours. “You didn’t see me before—I was sad all the time and never left my apartment except to go to work. And I took so many days off because I couldn’t think of a reason to get out of bed. We’re helping each other, okay?”
He sniffs and nods. “I really need a hug.”
Wrapping your arms around him, you hold him as tightly as you can and he does the same for you.
🎄
As you're walking home, you hear someone shouting your name and see Alvie running down the sidewalk towards you.
"I got a job!!" he shouts.
"Seriously? That's awesome!" You grab his hands and swing each other around. "Which one?"
"Wrapping shipments at the candle store. It's just for the holidays, but they said they might need someone after that, so if I do well it could be longer..."
"I'm sure you'll be great at it. I'm so proud of you."
He beams and lets out a whoop before jumping on the nearby lamppost. He tries to swing on it, but he immediately loses his grip, falling into the street. You yelp and run after him as a car narrowly misses him and honks its horn.
Pulling him back onto the sidewalk, you tell him, "That was really dangerous— you're an idiot!"
He rubs his shoulder. “I know, I just got so excited. I wanted to do like a Gene Kelly move.”
“Singin’ in the Rain?”
“It used to play in the hospital all the time. Oh, I got you this. To say thanks.” He pulls a candy cane from his pocket, the hook broken. He gives you a crooked smile.
🎄
At your office Christmas party, most of your coworkers are drinking too much on top of eating a massive amount of rum cake. Why this is still a Corporate America tradition, you will never know. You brought Alvie along, both to have backup and because you never bring anyone to these parties. Everyone always gets decked out in holiday attire, so you and Alvie are wearing matching reindeer antler headbands.
“Your boyfriend’s pretty entertaining,” Linda tells you.
“Oh, he’s just my friend.”
“Of course,” she replies, but winks at you.
You find Alvie across the room, nursing a can of coke. “How are you doing?”
He smiles. “It’s all good—your coworkers are really nice.”
“They are, but I want to get out of here before they get even drunker.”
“Copy that!” He takes one last chug of his soda, then goes to find your coats.
You say goodbye, telling everyone Alvie has to work early the next day.
Outside, you take Alvie’s arm. “Thanks for being my out; parties are sometimes too much for me.”
“Any time. I had fun.”
As you walk, Alvie points out different decorations and you marvel at how his eyes sparkle in the lights.
🎄
Tumblr media
.
You’ve gotten into a routine where Alvie assists you with dinner every night and it’s become your favorite part of the day.
He stares into the pot and takes a big whiff. “Wow, that smells good. I don’t even like soup… unless you make it.”
Your cheeks heat up. “So you’re liking the job?”
“Totally! Everybody there is super nice and I just get to box up candles all day long and listen to music.” He wiggles his fingers in the air. “I always do best when my hands stay busy.”
You laugh and continue stirring the soup.
“And if they keep me after the holidays, I can save up for my own place and get out of your hair.”
“Oh.” Suddenly your chest feels tight. “You can stay as long as you need to—I like having you here.”
“I know, I just don’t want to outstay my welcome.”
“You could never.”
He hugs you and you hold on longer than you normally would, taking in the feeling of his stubble against your cheek and the way he smells like wax and cinnamon. But no matter how long you hold on, Alvie always hugs you back a second longer.
🎄
Taking a nighttime walk together, you see kids having a snowball fight in the park.
“I’d totally own you in a snowball fight.”
“Oh, you think so?” Alvie scoops up some snow from the ground.
“DON’T YOU DARE.”
He just shrugs and drops the snow, wiping his wet hands on his pants.
You shiver and pull your hat further down over your ears. Alvie does the same with his.
The sidewalks are so slippery you resort to trying to slide your feet instead of taking steps. Alvie grabs your arm as he almost falls.
You shriek, “Don’t take me down with you!”
“Don’t worry—I’ll break your fall!”
You both just break down in giggles, which makes you both slip more. So now you’re clinging to each other, trying to stay upright. Soon you recover and you find yourself staring into his deep brown eyes. He gives you that beautiful lop-sided smile of his and all other thoughts leave your head. All of a sudden you’re feeling much warmer all over.
“Think we can make it home?” he whispers.
“Only if we help each other.”
You proceed to slide in time together, holding onto the other’s arm for dear life.
🎄
“Don’t you think it’s about time for a love confession?”
You nearly spit out your cocoa. “What do you mean?”
Your sister raises one eyebrow and looks towards the living room, where Alvie is helping Theo put together one of his new toys. You’re celebrating Christmas with Haley early as Theo will be spending the week with his father.
“He’s just my friend,” you say.
“More of a roommate at this point.”
Alvie and Theo are making up a Christmas rap together, and you smile at them.
“See? I see the way you look at him.”
“What? They’re being cute.”
“Alvie’s cute.”
You take another sip and don’t look at her.
“Say it. Say Alvie’s cute.”
Knowing she won’t let up, you mumble, “Alvie’s cute.”
“Hmpf. Knew it.” She looks proud of herself.
“Mom, come listen to the rap we made!” Theo calls.
Settled in the living room by the fireplace, you watch as Alvie beatboxes for Theo's rap. When they finish, you clap and holler while Theo high-fives Alvie. Then Theo jumps on his mom for a hug while Alvie sits next to you.
“That was great!”
“Thanks!” He puts his arm around your shoulders.
Haley winks at you.
🎄
“What are you making?” All sorts of craft supplies are strewn atop the coffee table. Alvie is holding a paintbrush and has a little dab of green paint on his cheek.
“Ornaments!” He holds one up that’s shaped like a bone. “This one’s for Reginald.”
“I still don’t understand why you love that dog so much.”
“He’s my buddy! Plus he basically introduced us, so I owe him.”
You laugh, but also feel warmth spread through your chest. “Who else are you making ornaments for?”
“This one’s for my old roomie, House. I have one for my cousin and one for Haley. I’m making you one, too, but you can’t see yours yet!”
“That’s fair.” You cough and blow your nose.
“Are you getting sick?” Alvie asks.
“Oh, no. I think it’s the dry air making me cough and I just came in from outside, which always makes my nose run.”
Alvie gives you a concerned look. “Well, take it easy just in case.”
“Alvie, I’m fine, really!” You cough again. “I just need some water.”
“I’ll get you some.” He goes to the kitchen.
Under some supplies you see a heart-shaped ornament and find yourself hoping it’s for you.
🎄
Alvie lifts the thermometer. “Yeah, that seems high.”
“I run hot—it’s fine.”
“Just stay here on the couch and I’ll bring you whatever you need.”
“No, I gotta get ready for work—”
“You are sick and I’m taking care of you—end of discussion. Now call work and tell them you’re not coming in.”
You can see there’s no arguing with him and your head really doesn’t feel right, so you follow his instructions.
“Do you wanna get some sleep?”
“No, let’s watch a movie. Something Christmas-y.”
“You’re the sickie, so you get to pick.”
Looking through the options, you say, “Oooo, Gremlins!”
Alvie scoffs. “That is not a Christmas movie.”
“It is so! The part where the woman opens her door and the gremlins are caroling? Christmas classic.”
“Fine. But I’m only agreeing because you’re sick.”
As the movie starts, he moves closer to you and puts a blanket over the both of you.
“Maybe keep your distance; I don’t want you to get sick, too.”
“Nah, cuddles are always nice, but especially when you’re sick.” He puts his arm around you and kisses the side of your head.
You can’t concentrate on the movie after that.
🎄

Haley brings over a bunch of festive ribbons from her craft stash for Alvie to use as ornament hangers.
“These are great; thank you so much!”
“No problem.”
Alvie bounces off to the living room.
“How are you feeling?”
You shrug. “A lot better. Thankfully it was a short cold.”
“Did your nurse make you all better?” she says suggestively.
You smack her arm and look to see if Alvie heard, but he’s engrossed in tying ribbons on his ornaments.
“Gotta run!” Haley waves and leaves.
“Which ribbon looks better with this one?” Alvie holds them up and walks towards you.
You step closer. “The blue one.”
“What’s that?” Alvie is looking above your head.
Looking up, you see mistletoe directly above you. Haley must have hung it while you were distracted.
“Uh… mistletoe?”
He looks right in your eyes and you already feel yourself melting.
“Rules are rules.” He leans in and kisses you. His lips are incredibly soft; his goatee tickles your skin. He holds his lips against yours longer than just a friendly peck.
Then he jumps up, tearing down the mistletoe. “I’m gonna hide this somewhere and surprise you.”
Running after him, you scream, “Alvie! No!”
🎄
Once you put the last batch of cookies in the oven, you head over to the couch where Alvie is curled under the blanket. He lifts it for you and you quickly jump under it. Cookies seemed like a great idea because it is so cold today that the inside of your windows have frost on them. The oven is helping keep you warm even though the heat is cranked all the way up.
“Sorry my apartment sucks so much.”
“It’s great.” Alvie glomps onto you, his arms and legs wrapped over you. You feel warmth everywhere and look up at him. “Warmer?” he asks.
You just nod, lost in those beautiful eyes. He smiles at you and nudges his nose against yours. You can hear both of your breathing change as he tilts his head and leans in closer, lips parted.
The oven timer beeps loudly and you jump up. “The cookies!” You run into the kitchen and take the cookies out, willing your heart to slow down.
As you finish putting the cookies on the cooling rack, Alvie wordlessly wraps the blanket and himself around you from behind. Leaving the oven on, you stand and eat cookies together.
🎄
After you get home from work, you plop on the couch next to Alvie. “Whoo, holiday break time!”
“What are you doing for Christmas Eve tomorrow? Are you hanging out with Haley?”
You shrug. “We talked about maybe doing lunch on Christmas Day, but that’s it. We already did our gift exchange with Theo. The years he’s at his dad’s are usually pretty low-key.”
“I haven’t given her my ornament yet.”
“Well, you can do it on Christmas Day; that will be nice.”
He fidgets. “I don’t want to be a bother to you; I can find someplace else to be for the holidays.”
“Alvie, what are you talking about?”
"You should be with who you love on Christmas. I don’t want to get in the way—"
"Maybe you're the one that I love."
Alvie’s eyes widen and you clamp your hand over your mouth.
Alvie says your name, a confused look on his face, mouth hanging open. That’s all the response you need.
You shake your head and run into your bedroom, shutting the door. A few moments later Alvie knocks, but you don’t say anything. Burying your head in your pillow, you cry until you fall asleep.
🎄
You avoid Alvie all day, only returning home when all the shops close early for Christmas Eve.
When he sees you, Alvie jumps up. “Where were you? I was worried!” He takes your hands and then looks up.
Following his eyes, you see the mistletoe. “I thought we threw that away…”
“I dug it out.” He kisses you and this time there is no mistaking it for only friendly.
Breathlessly, he asks, “Did you mean it?”
You don’t have to ask what he’s referring to. Cautiously, you nod.
His smile is the biggest and brightest you have ever seen. He kisses you again, pulling you against him.
“I was too surprised to say anything yesterday. I didn’t think there was any chance you felt the same way I did.”
Tears spring to your eyes. “Of course I do!” You take his lovely face in your hands and lose yourself in his lips.
Soon you lead him to the bedroom. You’re both tentative yet tender, learning each other’s touch and how to make one another cry out with joy.
Later as you’re falling asleep in his arms, he kisses the top of your head. “I love you,” he whispers. “Merry Christmas.”
🎄
When Haley comes over on Christmas Day, you don’t need to say anything. She knows the minute she sees both your faces.
“HA! I KNEW IT!” She does a triumphant dance while you shake your head. “Also I’m really, really happy for you two. But also I fucking called it!”
Alvie gives the ornaments he made to you and Haley. Yours is heart-shaped, with yours and Alvie’s names on it and the year. “But you made this like a week ago…”
He shrugs. “I had high hopes, I guess.”
You kiss him and your sister says, “Awww, let me take a picture of you two.”
Alvie puts his arm around your shoulders and you smile as Haley captures this moment.
“Our first picture together,” he says.
“First of many,” you reply.
Alvie opens your gift—a new keychain tucked inside a winter beanie.
When he holds up the keychain, you say, “Because you’re not going anywhere.”
In the evening, after Haley leaves, you’re snuggling on the couch with Alvie. He nuzzles your neck. “This is my best Christmas ever.”
“Mine, too.”
He sighs contentedly. “This feels like home.”
“The apartment?”
“Yes. But mostly you. Wherever you are is my home.”

WITH LOVE, THE GHOSTS | Julie and The Phantoms - Part Two

Author’s Note: Somebody on Wattpad asked if they could get ‘a part two where she like meets them and they still do kind stuff?’ I really liked that idea, so this little part is a filler (their meeting) so that I can fullfill the request in a third and final part. Enjoy! :D
word count: ~ 1.4k
summary: You finally meet the boys. Obviously, chaos ensues.

“You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
You knew that Julie wouldn’t judge you, not after the year she had. But honestly, after hearing that Flynn was almost going to egg her house after finding out about the Swedish hologram boys you were very inclined to just shake your head and forget about it all. Even if the note from Reggie, Alex and Thing Three had been burning a hole into your pocket.
Needless to say that it had been a very weird winter break. But you were still kind of disappointed when nothing happened on New Year.
Nevertheless, you closed your locker and turned around to look at Julie and Flynn while they approached you. “Does a flying pen called Reggie and a computer that suddenly decides to cheer me up called Alex and a third something, temporarily called Chicken Scratch, do as well?” you asked and took the note out of your pocket, hoping it would come out as comedically rather than insane.
At first, nothing happened and Julie and Flynn just stared at you. Then Julie ripped the little paper out of your hand and quickly unfolded it.
Almost afraid you smiled at them nervously when they looked back up at you, expecting everything and yet nothing at the same time. Which is why you weren’t quite sure what to make from Julie and Flynn’s reaction. Sighing they both looked at each other and whisper-shouted: “Reggie!”
“Reggie… as in the pen? You’re calling my pen?” Bewildered, you looked at your two best friends. Okay so maybe they did think you’ve lost it. ‘Retreat, retreat! Make a final joke about it and let it slide!’ “ I think you kind of forgot the magic word ‘Accio’ beforehand. Accio Reggie, you know? And don’t forget to swish and flick it guys or else it might blow up in your face,” you giggled nervously. ‘Nope, that wasn’t it.’
But instead of going into it, Julie suddenly seemed busy staring angrily at a locker just to their right and making weird eyebrow movements towards it, while Flynn just swung an arm around your shoulder and pulled you with her.
“I think it’s time that we, or rather Julie, told you something. But, first things first, you know that egging your best friends house isn’t the solution, right?”
-
Correction: They lost it. Not you, they! Ghosts. Forking 90s ghosts they said.
Because apparently Reggie, Alex and Luke (not Who or Thing Three - just a ghost with a very terrible handwriting, Flynn couldn’t stop giggling and said something about the Fat Ones?) were exactly that - forking 90s ghosts. You almost snorted into your cereal and inhaled the milk when Julie told you that after arriving home from school.
“Sure. Ghosts are wishing me a Merry Christmas. What’s next? Did I miss Michael Jackson wishing me a Happy New Year and will Elvis Presley be serenading me on Valentine’s Day?”
“Wait... Michael Jackson died?! When? Ah damn... I barely had time to listen to his 9nth album before we died!”
“Dude... First Star Wars, now this? What exactly are you doing when we aren’t rehearsing?”
“Not screaming in a museum, but I did say dibs on the shower… the rubber duckies are just too cute to ignore!”
“You use them in a bath Reggie, not the shower!”
Obviously, you couldn’t hear them but you did see the eye-roll Julie gave the thin air before turning back to you. “Sorry to disappoint but no. Michael and Elvis are dead.”
Silence fell upon you three six.
Ending the silence by eating your (crunchy) cereal, you swallowed and said, “Yeah fun fact, the adjective dead literally appears in the definition of ghosts. That’s kind of what makes them ghosts. Being dead. So… what makes your buddies so special?”
Silence. Again. (Well, for you. Julie was listening to two ghosts chasing each other around the kitchen ‘STOP IT REGINALD!’ while the third one was sitting by your side, face in his hands, eyeing your cereal wistfully and sighing.)
Taking a deep breath Julie pushed her hands away from her body. “We don’t know. But we would like to show you. So... Boys, Garage. Now! Girls, Garage. Please,” she said, waving her hand to the backdoor.
Opening the garage door a few moments later and gesturing at the couch and chairs Julie said, “Please sit down. The band will be with us shortly.”
“Uh!”, you said excited, clapping your hands. Might as well go along with it. Worst case scenario? All three of you will go visit Dr. Turner. Best case scenario? Well… best case scenario the boys ghosts are real and you will be sleeping with one eye open from now on. But honestly, how bad can that be? They have a good taste in Christmas music after all. “What are we going to hear? Panic! At the Disco? Taylor Swift?”
“No no no. They only do originals. Now come on, Mama needs her eye candy. Oh, and watch it. Reggie needs space to rock out,” Flynn told you as she guided you to the couch.
“Look at that! She listens and learns!” Julie giggled and sat behind the keyboard. “Let’s do it the old fashioned way. Y/N, this is Flying Solo.”
-
Well, they were real. Or as real as ghosts can be.
“Yeah… quick question. Why am I always the one who gets probed?” the dark-haired bassist asked after your hand passed through his shoulder.
“Oh, I’m sorry! I should have asked first.”
“Ah don’t worry. It was nice actually. Now I know that you have a kind heart.”
The shaggy-haired guitarist snorted, accidentally strumming his guitar a little too hard. “And an endless black pit as a stomach.”
“And you know that why?” Julie asked with her hands crossed in front of her chest.
“He watches her eat the sandwiches he makes for her. He finds it cute when she giggles at the Nutella faces he paints onto them," the bassist answered for the guitarist.
“You make her sandwiches… with Nutella faces?! Why don’t I get those?!” "You watch me while I eat?!" Julie and you screamed out at the same time.
“Chill out you both! You," Flynn said pointing at you, "get free food! But watch it, they did die by eating poisoned hot dogs, so don't trust them entirely. And you!" She moved over to Julie, "You get eye candy 24/7! I should be the one to complain! I don’t get anything and I am your manager!”
Blushing the brown-haired boy averted his eyes and muttered, “I don’t remember agreeing to that." (Because of course that would be the point he would focus on.) "You booked us a school dance after all!” Feeling and then seeing their indignant looks he quickly retreated. “Which we are still very, very sorry for missing out on! A… and and the band name you came up with is really great Flynn!”
Throwing her hair back and squinting her eyes, Flynn gave him a joking glare. “You pass. Barely. I’m still watching you.”
“Okaaaay so, judging by your looks and your attitude I’d say… you're Chicken Scratch, right?”
“HEY!” And then more quietly, “My name’s Luke.”
You nodded. “You deserve it. So, Luke, I guess it's nice to meet you.”
“So today is ‘Make fun of Luke’-day?”
“Oh… that’s only today? Sorry, I must’ve missed that memo. I thought that was every day.”
You giggled and turned to the drummer who had just spoken. “Alex, right?”
The blond guy nodded smirking while continuing to quietly drum.
“Then you must be Reggie!” you smiled at the bassist again. “I heard Kayla talk about you to Carrie on a few occasions.”
As he dropped his bass the last thing you saw or heard from Reggie was an excited, “Girls talk about me? Take that Alex!” Then he puffed out of existence.
“Reggie, you do realize that my ‘they can’t tip what they can’t see’ statement still applies here, right?” Alex said sighing and mouthed, “I’m sorry” in your direction, before flinching and puffing out of existence as well.
“They don’t have to tip me, Alex, they just have to like me!” Luke imitated Reggie sarcastically, shaking his head and raising his eyebrows while eyeing the thin air.
“Wow! Watch it!”
But Julie’s warning came too late. With a ‘whooosh’ and followed by a dull pain one of Alex’s drumsticks flew through the air and hit your head. “Ow!”
“Oi boys! Stop it!” And with that Luke vanished as well.

Finally Got The Girl
Tumblr media
MASTERLIST
Reggie Peters x Fem!Reader
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1.3k+
Summary: After years of liking (Y/N), Reggie gets the courage to tell her, but it didn’t happen the way he planned.
*****
Reggie had liked (Y/N) for years, the two having known each other since they were children. He always wanted to confess to her, but the one time he actually had the courage to - she came to him saying that the guy she had liked for the past couple of months had asked her out. Reggie was of course heartbroken, but he acted happy for (Y/N). Luke, Alex and Bobby could see right through his facade. Whenever Reggie saw (Y/N) and her boyfriend together, his heart broke a little more each time - he wished it was him making her that happy.
However, one night (Y/N) had turned up at the studio where the boys rehearsed crying her eyes out. Reggie immediately went to comfort her, Luke, Alex and Bobby tried to help but all she wanted was Reggie, so they left leaving the two alone. (Y/N) revealed to him that her boyfriend cheated on her. Reggie wasn’t an angry person by any means, in fact he was the complete opposite of angry, but once the words left (Y/N)’s mouth, he was beyond angry. All he wanted to do was march over to her boyfriend's - ex-boyfriend’s- house and demand to know why he would cheat on such a wonderful and beautiful girl. (Y/N), of course, wouldn’t let him leave, she just wanted him by her side.
The next time Reggie had the courage to tell (Y/N) he liked her was when they were playing the Orpheum. He had planned out that after the show, he would take her on a date and tell her. Of course, they never had that date and Reggie never confessed. Luke, Alex, Reggie and, reluctantly, (Y/N) all went for street-dogs before the show. The four of them ended up passing away and Reggie’s plans were ruined.
It was now 2020. The four ghosts had met a girl named Julie, who could make the band be seen. The band that was formerly known as Sunset Curve was now Julie and the Phantoms. (Y/N) was ecstatic that the boys could finally live out their dream - even if she couldn’t be seen by people herself, she was so happy and proud of the boys.
Even if it had technically been twenty-five years since Reggie had promised himself he would confess to (Y/N), he still hadn’t done it. He felt like it wasn’t appropriate as they had just died. It had been a few months and Luke, Alex and even Julie were trying to get him to confess. The three members of the band couldn’t take anymore of the incessant talking about (Y/N) when she wasn’t there. The three band members loved (Y/N) of course, they just didn’t need to hear about her every single minute of every single day.
“Reggie, come on man, just confess already. What’s the worst she can say?” Luke said while lightly strumming his guitar.
“No,” Reggie answered, “But that’s why I don’t want to confess. What if she does say no?”
“She won’t. Trust me.” Julie spoke up.
Julie knew (Y/N) wouldn’t say no to Reggie because she had admitted to Julie herself that she liked Reggie. Julie encouraged her to ask him out, but she refused, afraid of rejection. That was one thing both Reggie and (Y/N) had in common.
“How do you know that?” Reggie questioned.
“I just do.” Julie stated.
Reggie sighed, “I want to. I really want to. I’m just afraid.”
Alex placed his hand on Reggie’s shoulder, “Reg, just confess, you’re a great guy. If she doesn’t want to go out with you, then she’s missing out.”
Reggie gave Alex a small smile, “Thanks Alex.”
“Now go and tell her, I don’t know how many more of these talks I can take.” Alex said before sitting behind his drums.
Reggie sighed before standing up, “I’m gonna do it.”
“Finally,” Luke mumbled under his breath before speaking louder, “We have band practice later so be back by then.”
Reggie nodded before poofing away. He knew exactly where (Y/N) would be. There was a spot on the beach where the two of them would go all the time as children. (Y/N) would sometimes go there to just sit and think. Reggie appeared just a little bit away from (Y/N). To him she was beautiful. He always knew she was pretty but once he began liking her, that’s when he began to notice how beautiful she really was.
“(Y/N)?” Reggie called out.
She turned to look at him before a wide smile stretched across her face, “Reg!” She stood up from her position on the sand and walked over to him and wrapped him in a hug.
Reggie hugged her back, a smile stretching across his face from their contact. (Y/N) had always greeted Reggie with a hug ever since they were children. Reggie would always blush when she hugged him and that didn’t change. Once she pulled away, there was a slight red hue to his cheeks.
“I thought you were with the band?” She asked.
Reggie gulped, “I was, but I needed to tell you something.”
“Okay...what is it?” She asked happily.
“Um, well, I…” Reggie trailed off. He didn’t know how to say it. He had come here to confess, but he just couldn’t get it out.
“Reg? You okay?” (Y/N) asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine, I’m fine,” Reggie said, “Just nervous.”
“Why are you nervous?” (Y/N) questioned, concern lacing her tone.
“Um,well I…”
“Reggie, you’re acting strange, are you sure you’re okay?” (Y/N) asked placing her hands on the sides of his face, making him look at her.
“I…” Reggie trailed off once he noticed how close their faces were. His eyes flickered down to her lips. (Y/N) doing the same to Reggie but he didn’t notice. Reggie wanted to confess but he couldn’t do it with words. He impulsive pressed his lips to hers, locking their lips in a kiss. (Y/N) was surprised at first so she didn’t do anything to either stop or encourage it. Reggie took this as a sign to stop. He pulled away and looked down avoiding eye contact, he was prepared for her to turn him down.
(Y/N) removed her hands from his face and took a small step back from him. Reggie fiddled with the zip on his jacket, wanting to poof out of there but it felt like he was rooted to this spot. After a few moments of silence, he finally looked up to face (Y/N).
“Look, (Y/N), I’m sorry-”
Reggie was cut off by (Y/N) throwing her arms around his neck and pulled him in for a tight hug, “I’m so glad you just did that.” He heard her mumble against his neck.
To say Reggie was shocked would be an understatement. He was expecting his friendship with (Y/N) to be ruined after the kiss. He slowly wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her back. He buried his face into her neck and smiled.
(Y/N) pulled back from the hug slightly, still keeping her arms around his neck. Her face was lit up like a child on Christmas morning. Before Reggie could even process it, her lips were on his. Reggie felt himself blush as she kissed him. (Y/N) pulled away from the kiss, resting her forehead against Reggie’s. The blush on his face was prominent. (Y/N) let out a small laugh. Her laugh was a thing Reggie loved about her. It suited her just right, every time he heard it he couldn’t help but smile.
“You’re blushing.” (Y/N) mumbled.
“No I’m not.” Reggie denied even though it was glaringly obvious.
“You’re adorable,” (Y/N) said and Reggie blushed an even deeper shade of red, “And that proves my point.”
Reggie just connected his lips with hers once more. He was happy. He was kissing the girl he had liked for, technically, over twenty-five years. He had finally gotten the girl.

julie and the phantoms: holiday special!!!
halloween:
julie begs the boys not to do anything stupid before they’re set to play her school’s halloween party but of course they don’t listen
they go hard haunting bobby and carrie (originally it was just supposed to be bobby but carrie was right there and luke has never liked the way she treats julie), they help carlos egg the house of a bully at his school, and they spend a ridiculous amount of time ding-dong-ditching people and stealing candy they can’t eat
for their set alex dresses as a ghost because he loves the irony. reggie goes as han solo (OUT OF RESPECT, LUKE, RESPECT FOR THE DEAD. reggie, man, we’re dead.) luke goes as KISS, which weirds out half of julie’s school but they don’t ask many questions, they just figure it’s a swedish thing. julie and flynn pair up to go as an angel and a devil (flynn is the devil, julie is the angel), carrie is a space cowgirl ofc, and nick’s costume has something to do with a fedora ??? but nobody is really sure what he is
the band does a sick cover of the monster mash and the boys spend the rest of the party pranking half of julie’s school while they’re invisible
afterwards, julie and the boys have a movie marathon in the garage. alex begs for a horror movie so they watch the exorcist. or at least, the first twenty minutes of the exorcist. luke can barely look past julie’s shoulder and reggie’s whimpers become too annoying. instead, they watch hocus pocus (the boys remember seeing it in theaters together when it first came out) and then marathon all the halloweentown movies, luke’s newest post-death obsession. julie has to try her hardest not to eat all of the candy the boys stole, even though the assured her they were fine with it
luke and reggie are still giant babies about the exorcist, so they get to sleep in the middle while julie and alex get the outside of the blanket/sleeping bag/pillow fort they’ve set up. reggie cuddles up between alex and luke while luke falls asleep with his head in julie’s shoulder.
thanksgiving:
the boys aren’t the most thrilled about this holiday. they can’t eat and it was always so family-oriented, but julie is determined to make it as fun as she can for them. she sneaks around the week before, trying to casually interrogate the guys about each of the others favorite thanksgiving traditions
reggie and his dad used to watch the football game together every year, so julie makes sure there is a spot open on the couch next to ray as gets the tv on
she lights a cinnamon bun candle in the living room and watches the macy’s thanksgiving day parade with alex, because his mom used to make cinnamon buns for him and his sisters when they watched it together every thanksgiving morning
she gets the guys together in the backyard after her dad and carlos fall asleep to play a game of touch football, just like luke used to do with all of his cousins at his grandparents house every year
they make little hand turkeys in the studio like julie and carlos used to do with their mom and hang them up amongst all the others
they sit up late in their remade pillow fort, talking about what they’re thankful for
luke’s is the ability to perform again and julie bringing them back for a second chance
reggie’s is hanging out with ray and finally getting to catch up on star wars (even though they killed han solo)
alex’s is coming back to “life” to find people who love him for who he is and who accept his sexuality without hesitation
julie’s is that her mom brought these dorky guys into her life, giving her a new family and the ability to play music again
they all fall asleep in their fort, curled up on blankets and pillows, talking about their favorite thanksgiving foods
christmas/hanukkah:
reggie is jewish, so julie enlists flynn’s help to set up a menorah in the garage and to properly teach her about the traditions.
reggie teaches the band the history behind the holiday and even a little hebrew as the light the candles each night.
he visits his brother and watches his nephews open their presents and play together.
it takes a few days of luke’s bad mood for julie to realize that he spent his last christmas - the last one he was alive - alone in her garage, so she’s determined to make his first one as a ghost as special as possible.
she enlists alex’s help and gets him to poof into luke’s parents house to swipe a few of his favorite ornaments from the tree to surprise him with
she strings popcorn and cranberries and gets the guys together to decorate a christmas tree in the studio, they pile it high with tinsel and homemade ornaments and alex even poofs into his parents garage to grab his old gold star to top the tree with
decorating quickly devolves into them throwing the extra popcorn at each other and julie is pissed that it hits her but goes through the guys like nothing. if she can touch them, whatever she’s throwing should be able to too
she plays christmas carols in the studio 24/7. alex complains LOUDLY and reggie sings along to every single song. luke likes to pretend he’s too cool for carols (they’re not rock, julie) but she catches him humming frosty the snowman or deck the halls whenever he think nobody is paying attention
the band decides to exchange homemade gifts (julie isn’t entirely sure how to ask her dad for the money to buy gifts for her three ghost friends and in alex’s own words “we died eating street dogs out of the back of a car julie, we’re broke. and it’s not like we can just waltz into a store and pick you out a perfume anyways. we’re invisible.”)
luke writes julie a song, he finally learns the chords to home is where my horse is for reggie, and he tie-dyes alex a new tshirt
alex enlists julie’s help (which eventually turns into julie enlisting her dad’s help) to make a cassette of their songs for luke’s walkman. he borrows flynn’s cricut to make reggie a “han solo lives on” tshirt. and he gives julie a pair of vintage sneakers he snags from his parents garage. something his older sister had saved up for MONTHS to buy back in ‘89
reggie makes alex some homemade pins for his fanny pack. he gives julie some homemade stickers to decorate her mic and her keyboard with. and he spends some serious time doodling sunset curve/phantom drawings onto an old guitar strap for luke
julie digs through her moms chest to find more sunset curve merch and uploads their songs to spotify from their cd. she writes a duet that she gifts to luke (though since it was written for both of them, she isn’t sure it counts as a gift, even though his face lights up when he reads it.) she gives alex one of her dads vintage bomber jackets, which she spent an afternoon pressing the band’s logo onto the back of with the help of flynn’s cricut. she sets up a movie night for reggie, where they watch every star wars movie ever made and she lets him cry as long as he wants over how terrible han solo’s death it and the travesty that is jar jar’s character
they spend new years at the beach, cozied up on blankets near the water, strumming guitars and playing music just enough for the boys to be visible occasionally. they watch the firework show happening over the pier and spend hours talking about their hopes for world tours and record deals. they’re happy. they’re together.

missing Kidnapped by the fae moments (dunno if u still create for it) so here i am asking for some crumbs
Okay so you know the fae probably Went Hard on stuff like the summer and the winter solstice. Even though time moved differently over there.
So when the boys are back in the human realm, there's a bit of an adjustment. For one, LA doesn't have seasons the way the fairy realm did. And Reggie and Luke came from places in the US where winter was a thing, so they're kind of adjusting too. Though Luke is pretty fine with it, since he wears a beanie and no sleeves no matter what.
Willie and Reggie kind of miss the snow. I think Willie didn't care much for snow until Caleb stole Luke, who taught him the Joys Of Snowball Fights and Snow Men and Sledding.
Snowball fights were very much only a 'Caleb and the other fae are Out Hunting' thing after the first time a snowball went wide and hit one of the fae it was Not A Fun Time For Luke And Willie for several months.
So yeah, the boys are lamenting how they miss snow and sledding. Making sand-men on the beach is just not the same. Throwing sand at each other is Bad actually.
But, they get the bright idea, they could totally make a sled out of two skateboards and some cardboard, right?
Ray has a Very Bad Day after that. At least there were no broken bones this time but Reggie's on crutches for a week (it should have been more, but well, the boys aren't fully human yet) and Willie is Grounded from Skateboarding for just as long. Ray didn't even take his skateboard away, he just used the 'I'm not mad just disappointed' voice and explained it was unfair if Willie could skate when Reggie couldn't even walk
First time Reggie tried to walk through a wall with his crutches (what? his hands were full and doors are hard to open like that!) he went through fine... the crutches did not.
The boys do embrace other parts of the season, though.
Alex and Reggie really like baking. It's soothing, the steps are all laid out, everything smells nice, and there's food at the end. Julie and Ray and Carlos supervise the first few times just to make sure they understand the oven, but after that, they have free reign.
Reggie is the one who discovers the TikTok Baking Twink and starts trying more out there recipes. Some of which, Alex put his foot down to say no. He already lived through the horrific things that did with aspics and pineapple once, thank you. He has no need to relive it.
Luke of course is obsessed with modern Christmas music. Because he hasn't heard it seventeen billion times before, he really loves 'All I want For Christmas Is You' and he sings it to Julie once, really sincerely. Julie is utterly charmed.
He doesn't get why Flynn laughs at them.
When they try to explain Santa to Willie, he just nods sagely. Ah yes, he says, like the fae. You leave him offerings, he decides if you are a good person or a bad person, and rewards or punishes you as he sees fit. And he uses magic.
They are all very creeped out about Santa after that.
Willie does love the idea of gifts, though. Being raised by fairies, he has a very warped relationship with them, but when they explain that you get people you care about gifts for Christmas, he is all on board. Especially when Flynn introduces him to Sparkly Wrapping Paper.
(Yes, Ray has a conversation with Willie that if he wants things from stores, he must use money to buy them and not ask his crow friends to steal it.)
When Willie starts leaving them gifts, it's at random, in the weirdest places. But the right person always discovers them.
It starts normal enough, with some Fun Socks for Alex. Julie gets some sparkly glitter pens. Flynn gets some really weird soda she's never heard of before that has the same effect as seven sodas.
Luke and Reggie get rocks he found that look like a guitar pick and a dog, respectively. They are just as touched and excited as the others, though.
Carlos gets a videogame. It's a game that isn't supposed to be out until next year. Ray is starting to get a headache but Willie earnestly tells him it's not from a store.
Ray gets sweets he loves and misses from Puerto Rico. He has never mentioned these in front of Willie or any of the kids. He knows for certain they're not available in the states. He is scared to ask.
The gifts only get weirder but just as heartfelt from there. Food appears while Julie is studying that she didn't even realise she was craving. Sheet music for long-forgotten songs Luke only remembers snippets of.
Dogs appear whenever Reggie is sad, and once he's cheered up, they happily trot off to wherever they came from. Ray keeps checking the local facebook pages but nobody seems to notice their missing dogs.
Ray is almost relieved when Christmas comes around because hopefully it will stop the ever-increasingly-weird gifts.
He sits through the kids opening their stockings first. His new 'foster kids' are very easy to buy for, because there's so much they've never had and they appreciate just about everything. And yes maybe he did get them all little puzzles in the hopes of distracting them long enough that he can have a quiet afternoon.
Thankfully, the gifts on Christmas seem pretty normal. He maybe gets a little teary-eyed at the World's Best Dad mug the kids all got him together. And everything was bought in stores with money, just like Willie promised Ray.
Until the solid gold barbecue tongs.

Riverdale S5 E13 (Coyote Ugly)- 5 Things I loved/ 3 Things to consider
I loved a LOT of things about this episode, so I might have to cheat on my loved-it count. Indulge me, please.
Things I loved
1. I loved that Tabitha totally belongs and fits in with these crazy OG Riverdale people.  Tabitha asks Betty, the crazy girl, to not “do anything crazy,” while doing crazy things with Betty, herself.   Why Tabitha does this, we don’t know yet, but she absolutely belongs with these people.  For fancy-school-educated beautiful Tabitha, with her neat puff sleeves and delicate frame, to go all in with Betty Cooper, fake FBI agent, trying to hunt down a serial killer is insanity.  To agree to open up her business premises and offer up her own body as bait for this known serial killer is insanity. To be aware that Betty has caught someone who was acting violent, but to go alone, and also unarmed and apparently without having told anyone, is insanity.  Tabitha is very, very interesting.  Oh and she drives the most amazing car.
2. “Reggie, You’re A Genius!!” and Veronica is not being even a little bit sarcastic.  Reggie Mantle’s air punches every time either he or Veronica close a sale really just cheered me up no end. He’s just so exuberant and physical.  He’s already stated that he is good with numbers and he has a lot of ideas and he’s finally, at Pearls & Posh, getting a chance to let those parts of himself bloom. I loved the beautiful jewel tones that Reggie and Veronica wear throughout the episode, and the way they become ever more color coordinated.  I just love the two of them teaming up and dismantling Hiram’s scam one brick at a time.
3. All the Cheryl things, basically, I loved them.
-“Compulsion Thy Name is Kevin of Finland” is a line that had me hooting.    And the fact that Kevin, in the right clothes, totally has the body and jawline to be a Tom of Finland illustration is just icing on the cake. Cheryl has been keeping a very close eye on Kevin his whole life, honestly, like a dangerous sort of fairy godmother. Cheryl in a checked version of her little red riding hood outfit walking out of the misty blue forest!  What a beautiful shot.
- I did not love Tabitha having to say,  “Hot Ladies, dancing on the bar, fully clothed, of course,” but I *did* love Fang’s groaning in response, just so put upon. I did this simultaneously with the character, so I appreciated that.  I did love the glorious amount of cleavage that Cheryl the minister and cheerleading coach insists on putting on display while IN a high school.  Her sartorial choices felt like a vengeful commentary on the mores of American television.  I would much prefer to see tits on my TV than blood & violence, so the fact that an entire severed leg, a ghost of Christmas past with bullet wounds, and a man getting his face smashed in by a furious fit young man armed with brass knuckles can be shown in full but hot ladies dancing on a bar must be fully clothed irritated me.
So yes - I said a whole bunch of words to fancy up the statement that I loved seeing Cheryl’s cleavage.
Sidebar: Also why does it gotta be only ladies?  I think Fangs was fishing for an invitation.
- “I caught them (Moose & Fangs) having wine & cheese” - “Ew that is diabolical.” OK so when you’re in that mindset where you want to ‘win’ the break up but you’ve lost, this sort of hyperbolic reaction is exactly what you want from your female friends, and Cheryl doubles down with, “You did nothing wrong.”   Why has Kevin never declared best friendship with Cheryl?
4. I loved that  the show gives me permission to do what I’ve been doing already, which is that I absolutely despise Uncle Fucking Frank.  That asshole, who claims to understand battle trauma and love dogs, brings home a traumatized dog which deserves to have stable people look after it and be aware of its issues, and doesn’t tell his housemates who aren’t even getting basic mental healthcare, one of which is a nephew he is mooching from for room & board, about the dog’s potential problems.  Absolute failure garbage human, and I am elated to have this affirmed.  Everything Frank does makes Archie so much worse, and Archie does not trust Frank fully either.  Loved this too.  Archie lies to Uncle Fucking Frank about ‘Bingo.’ He was a dog, he says, and then says that Eric does not like to talk about the dog so Frank won’t go mentioning him to Eric.
5. I loved the musical numbers, each for a different reason.
- Coyote Ugly Bar Top Dance:  These terrifying, formerly terrorized children of Riverdale thrill me and break my heart.  Everyone just tosses themselves at danger.   Cheryl, Veronica, and Betty are all women who’ve had the experience of being hunted, terrorized, gaslit, stalked, sexually assaulted, having to fight for their lives while under attack from a much bigger assailant, etc  - just *all* the bad things, really - but with the promise of a good time (lyrics actually say: How Can I Resist?) they will make themselves live bait for a serial killer.
- Everything Is All Right from Jesus Christ Superstar. I love Kevin’s singing, always.  I also adored Penelope Blossom hating the musical interlude, she’s great.  This song is also meant to be ironic, in the show, from my memory, because in context things are NOT all right. Mary Magdalene was wrong.  They’re showing Kevin and Fangs making up, they’re showing Veronica and Reggie making a sale, Jughead was not in this episode at all, so this was quite arresting from a show perspective.  The song is disquieting, with minor key elements, and so it’s a little uneasy, you know?  Things are not all right, at all.
3 Things to Consider
a) “This award is a painful reminder of all that I haven’t accomplished.”  Kevin breaks my heart but not in a campy tingly way.  The feeling that I’m supposed to be somewhere better than this, doing something more than this - it’s so painful and real. I’m you, Kevin.  “This can’t be my life, it just can’t be.”  This seems to be the theme of the post time-jump Riverdale, but it feels more visceral because of whats happening in the real world on the date of airing (Fall of 2021).
b) Bingo being a person, not a dog, puts an entirely different and devastating cast over the dream-dialogue between Eric and Archie.  According to Archie’s subconscious, Eric is basically saying, “Leave the other man for dead, and save me and only me.”  In the football field dream,  Eric was transformed into Jughead, who just needed a little help, and had to be fireman-carried to touchdown.  Eric insisting that he be prioritized over the unfortunate Bingo goes some ways to explaining the bond between Eric and Archie as well.
c) Archie Andrews is terrifying, and this adult Archie is fascinating and arresting to me. “I don’t want this scumbag arrested! I want him hurt” is the most honest thing Archie has ever said on the show.  And when he says, “I’m trying to save this town, but it’s so corrupt,  broken, full of awful, despicable people.  I think there’s nothing worth saving here,”  Archie is very reminiscent of the Dark Hood/ Hal Cooper, actually.  Archie scares the worthless Uncle Fucking Frank so much that U.F. Frank can’t even say, “Nobody asked you to save the world, Archie, just save yourself.”

jatp fanworks appreciation - day 1 (writers)
motivation - so in true me fashion and my aversion to brevity, i've made three (3) posts (see also artists, gifs/edits) to celebrate the wonderful people in this fandom who have made my jatp tumblr experience what it is; a community of people who simply shout into the void about their love of a ghost band and their fearless female leader. i've enjoyed simply being on the sidelines admiring everyone's love for the show, but i thought this would be a good time to really show my appreciation for all these wonderful people, because if i've learned anything from this pandemic, it's that there is NEVER a wrong time to tell someone that they are simply ✨the best✨.
disclaimer: i don't interact with most of these people personally and i simply absorb their content from afar and scream about how wonderful they are in the tags.
This list kind of became a fic rec, so if you're looking for some wonderful fics to read (or reread), I've also included my favs from the author here as well.
Okay this is gonna get a little long so please bear with me. But I just wanted to preamble this by saying that the fanfiction written by the jatp fandom is what resparked my love for reading fiction after about 3-4 years of not reading for leisure (be an adult they said. it'll be fun they said.). So I'm really grateful for that? I don't interact with a lot of people, just because it makes me a little anxious, but I will constantly yell about your content in the tags as if I were on a set of bleachers with a megaphone.
I also know there are so many wonderful fic writers out there (on Tumblr and not on Tumblr) that make amazing pieces of work, and this is just a tiny peek into that, and is not at all conclusive.
Without further ado here are some writers who live rent free in my head, in alphabetical order, so feel free to just skip to your name to avoid my rambling:
@bluefirewrites -> your Merry Ex-Mas fic had me on the edge of my seat every single time you updated. I am so in love with how you wrote the characters into this and at how many words you churned out for this fic. This was filled with so much adventure, and it was really welcome during a time when the world wasn't allowed to travel. And I simply love all the other drabbles and fics you write, but I especially enjoy the hilarity of Ray Molina, Crime Scene Photographer and Matchmaker.
@captainkippen -> I'm pretty sure Love Drunk was one of the first fics I ever read in this fandom. Your stories and your writing feel so goddamn real and I find myself so immersed in the worlds that you've created. I have reread most of your jatp fics and I still manage to find myself stupidly grinning at my phone each time. Your stories flow so easily and are such perfect characterizations of the characters we know from the show, but elevated to fit into your verse. I cannot say enough how wonderful your writing is and how talented you are!! (also a slight nudge that I am still very much following along with The Key and the Crown and I hope you continue it!)
@catty-words -> Your???? Exhaustive??? Music??? Lists???? The amount of work and dedication and microanalyzing that you put into pulling out every detail from each scene is so admirable. You not only manage to find the details, but you also give us EVIDENCE via your intricately selected gifs. You could've just put the video of the performance, but no, you take your time to find that specific 1 second shot to emphasize your point. And your little fics that you sometimes throw out into the world? They're so beautiful, and so fun to read and I enjoy them so much! (I am STILL screaming about this band's a snack) Thank you for validating my yelling in the tags, and for feeding my hyperfixation to this show. (I'm sad these lists are ending soon, but it's about the journey ya know?)
@lydias--stiles -> I don't even know what to say here because I've yelled so much about your fics that I feel like there's really nothing else to yell. Your Road Trip AU was also one of the first ones I read in this fandom, and really just made me go absolutely feral. Pretty sure I absorbed the rest of your fics in an ungodly amount of time and I just simply think you are incredibly skilled and talented. Every time you post a new fic I always wonder what it's like to be in your head because the ideas you come up with are so unique and so well thought out. Thank you for all the art you create for this show, I will constantly be in awe of you. (Special shoutout to the 5+1 fic that became a 31 chapter monster)
@pearlcaddy -> This list would not be complete if I didn't mention you. First of all, thank you for suggesting this wonderful week, it has been so lovely to see so much love being spread around today. Secondly, I never thought I'd find myself reading a Buffy or a Wizarding World crossover fic, considering I know nothing about those two things. And yet I found myself on various nights after work at 3 in the morning just silently screaming and/or crying into my phone. Your writing is so insane. Your world building is so insane. Your banter/dialogue is insane. The way you capture the love between Julie/Luke in different universes is so perfect. Thank you for gifting us these beautiful pieces of art, and I hope you know that you have at least made one person (me) a very happy reader. I also really admire your dedication to "this will only be a oneshot", only to write like 4 other POVs for it. (Special shoutout to 100 Bad Days)
@ruzek-halstead -> Literally every single fic you have written lives rent free in my head. The way you've managed to build this universe of different Julies and Lukes, and each one still captures the essence of them is astounding. You've extended their characters beyond what we know from the show and I am just in awe of everything you write. Please know that dead of night is both triggering to me and yet the most hilarious thing I have read. (Special shoutout to the Fake Dating Christmas AU and of course the Cinderella Story AU)
@serendipitee -> Your stories and your writing are absolutely magical. I think Write It Down was one of the first multi-chapter fics that I followed super closely and whenever you updated, I would literally drop what I was doing and read it instantly. You have such a way of building the plot and the characters for all of your fics and drabbles, and making the reader just want more. Please know that I am so obsessed with Oh, She Waltzed With the Dead and I cannot wait to see where you take the story!
@sunsetcurbed -> I have no words for your writing. I am simply in awe every time I read something from you. The way you've got down Alex and Willie's voice to a tee is so crazy good. You write their characters and their stories with such grace and care, especially with how you approach the topic of mental health. Thank you for all the research you do and for also writing in your own experiences. I literally binged the Princes Diaries AU during work and lost a good half day to it, and I regret nothing because that fic left me in SHAMBLES. I secretly adore the way you say you're going to keep a fic short, and end up writing an insane amount of words for it. (I have not yet left my obligated long-ass comment on Chapter 4 of the College AU yet because I am still processing the fate/destiny concept.)
@tangledstarlight -> Gahh. Rosie. Please. This is going to sound a little repetitive considering I just screamed at you last night, but now I guess I will just have to publicly confess my adoration for you!!! Thank you for being my first online friend in a very long time, and for putting up with me yelling at you about everything (and also nothing at the same time). I can't believe all it took was one message about your Royals AU for you to post it, but I will gladly take that credit any day. You are so so so incredibly talented with your writing, and your ability to transport me to another world while I read your fics is unparalleled. I adore the way you can come up with a new story to write every day, and then proceed to throw it into your pot of other WIPs. I am so so so so lucky to have gotten to know you and am incredibly grateful that I now have someone to cry about everything with 🧡 (If you read anything from Rosie, you need to read her Seasons/Long Distance Juke "friendship" fic and the Reggie x Photography oneshot that made me bawl my eyes out.)
@thedeathdeelers -> No thoughts. Just soulmates. Jk jk, you know I love your Reggie x Ray x Carlos fics, and I will scream in the tags about it until the day I get more of those fics from you. This is lowkey a threat, but wrapped in kindness. You are so wonderful to see on my dash (albeit scary at times because of the sheer amount of headcanons and theories running through your head), but you radiate such positive energy that it's impossible to not want to jump in and scream about soulmates with you.
Some special mentions to fics that also live rent free in my head:
@sunsetsandcurves wrote a Willex Cruise Ship AU inspired by a Simple Plan song and it’s something I never knew I needed until I read it.
@phantom-curve wrote a Juke fic based off of Coney Island and I would just like to say, yes, it did shatter me. (Here’s the fluff sequel that makes up for it though)
@unsaidjulie wrote the Juke dog fic of my dreams and I simply cannot express how much I want the Molina’s to have a dog now.
@pawprinterfanfic managed to get me incredibly invested in a Star Wars AU even though I know absolutely nothing about Star Wars. I just know that I would die for two (2) space boys.
@sanssssastark  your Later universe made me realize that I do very much want there to be more mature content for this fandom (and you constantly deliver).
@theobligatedklutz wrote a Tangled Willex AU that makes me screech every time there’s an update. Just read it.
@alexthedrummerboy your talent knows no bounds when it comes to your Social Media AU. Also she’s written ORIGINAL songs for Alex and Willie?!?!?!
@gennified has this really wonderful modern take on pride and prejudice for Willex and I’m so obsessed with how much miscommunication there is.
@bananaleaves okay, I just found your Tumblr today, and I know you don’t know me in any capacity, but allow me to scream about THIS FIC RIGHT HERE. If anyone in this fandom is to read ANYTHING, it’s this fic. This was one of the best things I’ve read in a long time and absolutely wrecked me. Please just read this.
This turned out WAY longer than it was supposed to, and I’m SO SORRY. (I also tried to make sure I got everyone’s pronouns right, so PLEASE let me know if they’re wrong!) A final sincere thank you to everyone in this fandom who writes. Your talent knows no bounds. Gonna stop talking now before this becomes an essay....

That’s Christmas To Me| Julie and The Phantoms Cast
Dream-a-little-bigger-x’s Countdown to Christmas
Day 4
Tumblr media
A/N: I got so excited when I saw this one was the next one I had to write! I hope you enjoy! I also wanna thank @calamitykaty, @vicesvsvirtuesfanfic, @vrthngiwnt and @bright-molina for letting me pick your brains and bounce some ideas off of you. I love you loads!
Pairing: Platonic! JATP Cast x fem!reader
Summary: 2022, season 2 was about to be released on Netflix and the cast was invited to promote the show on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. A dream come true. When the host asks them for their favorite holiday memory together, the cast immediately flashes back to that time at the Christmas Markets.
Song(s) used: That’s Christmas To Me - Pentatonix | Happy Xmas (War is Over) - Echosmith ft. Hunter Hayes
Warnings: Spiked hot chocolates, but no one gets drunk and no one drinking is underage.
Words:  3,970

Checking her outfit in the full-length mirror once again, y/n sighed nervously. All dressed out to the max for her very first talk show. Her styling team had outdone themselves once again. The gold flared pants, the white satin button down shirt and the white heels just made her feel so fabulous.
Though she couldn’t deny the fact that she was nervous. She was going on a live show, not any live show, but the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, nonetheless. Her family watched that show religiously every single night. That thought did not calm her down either.
A soft knock made her snap out of her thoughts and turn around to find Madison in the doorway with an excited smile on her face. “You look gorgeous!” she exclaimed excitedly and ran up to her newest best friend, engulfing her into a tight hug.
She was sporting a gray glittery jumpsuit with black pumps strapped on her feet, her makeup done beautifully and her natural curls flowing over her shoulders with bejeweled clips pulling it out of her face.
“So do you!” y/n retorted with the brightest smile she could muster, though Madison could see right through her and squeezed her hands reassuringly. “My heart is thumping.” The words came out in a whisper as though she was telling a secret.
“So is mine, but we can do this. We got each other, okay?”
Y/N and Madison had gotten along straight away the first day y/n came to set. It was nerve-wracking to weasel yourself into a tight group of cast members who’ve already spent two years working together, but they made it so agreeable. The first day, Madison and Owen came up to her and started bombarding her with so many questions about herself and her character. All she knew about the latter was that she’d be Reggie’s love interest and the villain’s niece who worked for him to try and get Reggie, Luke and Alex into his club. Which of course, would not work out as y/n’s character would fall for the bassist too.
The entire cast welcomed her into their group straight away and the whole process became so enjoyable to the point where it just didn’t feel like work anymore. It just felt like spending time with friends and trying to memorize words and songs at the same time. It was weird. But so much fun. And now, they were able to finally promote said season.
“Madison, y/n, time to go,” one of the show runners said to them when he passed y/n’s dressing room. The two girls nodded and after a simultaneous deep inhale and exhale of stress, they made their way to the hallway where the boys were waiting.
Charlie and Jeremy offered y/n a wide smile to ease her nerves a little before Charlie held out his hand in front of him. “We got this. Legends on three?” The others nodded and, with a content smile on her face, y/n placed her hand on top of Charlie’s.
“One,” said Charlie.
“Two,” Jeremy and Madison added in unison.
“Three!” Owen and y/n finished and all five their hands went up in the air as they yelled out “Legends!” Though it was scary, y/n knew she had four amazing people that would guide her through it.
Tumblr media
“Please, welcome the cast of Julie and The Phantoms!” Jimmy introduced them and, while the Roots played the infamous intro song, the cast walked through the red curtain. Madison and y/n ahead, holding one another’s hands as to not fall in their heels, then followed Charlie, Jeremy and Owen.
The audience cheered and applauded until they sat down and the music faded away. “Welcome, welcome!” Jimmy said excitedly. “Thank you for being here!” The cast beamed at the host, unable to contain their excitement nor nerves.
“Thanks for having us,” said Charlie, the polite Canadian.
“So, exciting news, season two of your show Julie and The Phantoms premieres on Netflix tonight, is that correct?”
“Yes!” all five said, though not quite in unison, and the crowd roared again. Y/N couldn’t hide the smile on her red painted lips as she looked out into the sea of people.
Jimmy turned to the crowd, “If the people at home have never heard of your show, how would you explain it?” His eyes fell on the girl closest to his desk, which was Madison, allowing her to answer the question.
“Uhm… Julie and The Phantoms is about this girl, Julie, who tragically lost her mom and, with it, her love for music. That is until one day, she plays this old CD she finds and out pop these three lovable, dorky ghosts who used to be in a band in the 90’s, called Sunset Curve. They died when they ate bad hot dogs--” the crowd let out a laugh, and it made Madison chuckle too. “Yeah! -- Anyway, and so these boys kind of help her find her love for music again and they form a band, called Julie and The Phantoms as the audience can see the ghosts when they play with Julie. And a lot of things happen and it’s funny and light and cute!”
Jimmy let out a chuckle too, “And now there’s a season 2!” Another cheer erupted from the crowd. “What can you tell us about season 2, Charlie?” he directed the question to the boy next to the newbee.
“A lot happens! We see what happens with Nick and Caleb, and we meet Philippa, Pips, Covington who will stir up some crazy stuff in the boys’ lives, especially Reggie’s,” he explained with a grin. He stirred in his seat a little before placing his arm on the back of the couch, behind y/n’s head. The girl tried not to react to the overwhelmingly amazing scent of sandalwood that emanated from this movement.
Jimmy’s eyes landed on y/n and she was certain that for a moment, he knew what she was thinking, but then he asked her a question instead. “How was it for you, y/n, as the newcomer to the cast? Did they immediately embrace you or did  you have trouble being accepted?”
“I hated it--” she replied seriously,  but then giggled, “No, I loved it! They were so kind and so welcoming, I immediately felt like I was part of their tight group. It did feel strange at first, I’m not gonna lie. But after a while, coming to work didn’t really feel like working anymore.”
“And your character, Phillipa, was she accepted by the other characters?”
She cleared her throat of any nerves before answering. “Pippa was… well-- she was working for her dead great-uncle, so she had to make sure she was accepted and weasled herself into the friend group pretty quickly. She knew how to get to Reggie especially and thanks to him, got into their friend group.”
“That’s amazing. I’m so excited to watch! My daughters are eight and nine, and they loved season 1 of Julie and The Phantoms. They’re thrilled to see the new season!”
A chorus of “aw”s were shared within the cast as well as throughout the audience.
“Yeah, they’re pretty cute.” He picked up his cue cards to remind himself of the next bullet point he needed to talk about. “Oh! Since it’s almost Christmas, I like to ask my guests to tell us a fun holiday themed story before I send them off, do you guys have a fun holiday themed story for us?”
The cast exchange glances until Owen asked, “Should we talk about the Christmas market we did last year after filming?” The rest of the cast made sounds of agreement with a few giggles mixed in between.
“Tell us about the Christmas Market!” Jimmy shouted excitedly, almost resembling a five-year-old getting their Christmas presents early.
Owen took the lead on this one. “So, we were all in Vancouver, we had wrapped season 2 and we would soon be going home, but we decided to spend one last night together at a Christmas market in Vancouver city…”
Tumblr media
Bundled up in layers of sweaters and a thick coat, y/n trekked through the layer of snow that blanketed to grounds of Vancouver City. She was trying her hardest not to focus on the blistering cold that nipped at her nose but rather on the story Charlie was telling the others in front of her. His voice boomed into the busy streets, along with the others’ laughter.
She always loved the way Charlie told his stories about every wild adventure he’d ever been on and the way Owen quipped back with the wittiest of comebacks. Or how Madison would chime in with her typical Gen Z humor none of the boys understood. Y/N was sure going to miss the entire dynamic of the group when they were back home.
Thousands of lights flickered above y/n’s head as they strolled through the entrance of the infamous Vancouver Christmas Market. She let her eyes take in the beauty whilst her stomach fluttered from excitement. Her love for Christmas Markets had never faltered over the years. It still excited her in the same way it did when she was just a child.
“Can we get a hot chocolate first? I’m freezing!” Savannah suggested, her teeth chattering as she snuggled into her thick scarf. Smiling, y/n hooked her arm around hers and pulled her closer in hopes the warmth of all her layers would help the blonde girl a little.
“I heard they have a unique recipe that only the Christmas Market here ever uses!” Charlie added with a wide grin before leading the gang towards the warm beverage kiosk. It resembled a cabin from a ski resort, decked out all the way with Christmas lights and foliage.
The group stood in front of the kiosk and read the menu to figure out whatever they’d want to drink. “Ooh, that Peppermint Hot Chocolate sounds delish,” Owen said, and when y/n’s eyes landed on the words, her mouth curled up into a smirk.
“We’re going that route tonight, hm?”
The hot chocolate he was talking about was spiked with peppermint schnapps and chocolate liqueur. This sounded right up y/n’s street, and she knew it would warm Savannah up from the inside.
“Follow me or don’t follow me, that’s up to you, but I am taking that route tonight.” Owen rubbed his gloved hands together until the lady inside the kiosk looked up at him, signalling that it was his turn to order. “A peppermint hot chocolate, please.” He sounded way too confident for someone who had just turned 21 that year.
The woman peered over her half-moon glasses, letting her eyes glide from his eyes to his toes before sneering, “ID, please.” Owen’s mouth dropped open and with a lot of cursing underneath his breath, he reached for his wallet.
“Ha! Owen’s getting ID’d!” Charlie cackled, shaking his head. The woman’s eyes darted over to the second boy, giving him the same one-up before raising her eyebrows as if saying “I’m gonna get you too, little boy”.
And she did. She ID’d Charlie too. No one else but Charlie and Owen, which everyone had a good laugh at as they were sipping their hot chocolates, which for three out of ten isn’t spiked.
While Jeremy and Booboo were still teasing the two boys, y/n turned around and let her eyes scan the entire view in front of her. All the pretty lights and the snow whirling to the ground so gracefully and the music floating through the air made the cold more bearable.
A gasp eliciting from Jadah’s tiny body made y/n snap out of her thoughts and turn to the younger cast member. Her eyes were wide and shimmering, looking up at the tall Christmas tree that was towering above their heads with tens of thousands of lights blinking back at them.
“Isn’t that the walk-through Christmas tree?!” she asked, excitedly.
Madison took her hand and, giggling, they weaved through the sea of people towards the one-of-a-kind festive fairyland. Y/N exchanged glances with the rest before they, too, made a beeline towards the tree, dodging people left and right.
“Hey, Owen, are you sure you’re gonna be able to fit?” y/n asked the tall Oklahoman teasingly. The boy’s mouth dropped open, and before she could properly register it, he started chasing her. She ran past Madison and Jadah, and tried to duck behind any other visitor until he eventually picked her up and threw her over his shoulder. The girl shrieked, prior to a giggle.
Tumblr media
Jimmy’s voice echoed over y/n’s flashback to the most festive night of that year. “You guys really sound like a close group of friends.”
“Yeah! We are! We’re like a little family!” Charlie replied, dropping the arm that was on the back of the sofa around the girl’s shoulder.
“What happened next?” Jimmy then questioned, curiously. The whole scene almost resembled a toddler listening to his bedtime story.
Jeremy cleared his throat with a chuckle. “Well, if this night were a movie, you’d now have a cute montage of us going through that magical tree and on the carousel like little children.”
“Yeah, you’d see us stuff our faces with churros and pretzels,” y/n added, making Jimmy and the crowd laugh.
“And we got a lot of Christmas shopping done too!” Madison chimed in with a smile. “I actually got everyone’s present when they were right there with me. None of them noticed.”
“Oh, no, I noticed,” y/n replied with a smirk, to which Madison reacted with widened eyes.
“What’s next?!” Jimmy queried. His eyes were glistening as he listened to the cast talk. He just loved their dynamic and how well they got along with one another.
Y/N continued the story as her mind tumbled back into her daydream.
Tumblr media
The music had stopped just a few minutes ago, but only now y/n’s ears picked up on the sudden absence. Knitting her eyebrows together, she lifted her eyes to the stage in the corner of the market where singers were carolling minutes ago, and was now completely empty. As the small amount of alcohol made her brain a little woozy, her teeth gnawed on her bottom lip in thought.
“Guys… Should we--Should we go sing a song?” she suggested, causing all of them to look up in surprise. “There’s no one on the stage… Should we?” she pointed at the podium to emphasize what she meant.
As smiles appeared on each of their faces, the group walked up to the stage and grabbed a microphone each. Charlie reached for the acoustic guitar on the stand, but y/n stopped him.
“Let’s do a capella for once?” she told him tenderly.
When his eyes met hers, she felt her lungs expand with the gasp that left her body. How gorgeous could one’s eyes be. But with that one look, the boy also knew what song she wanted to sing. The one song that had been stuck in her head for the past month during filming. And the rest of the crew knew too because when y/n counted them in softly, they all started to sing along. Their voices mingling perfectly and floating throughout the night sky.
“The fireplace is burning bright, shining all on me I see the presents underneath the good old Christmas tree And I wait all night 'til Santa comes to wake me from my dreams Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me”
Savannah locked eyes with y/n and a smile fell to their lips before they looked out to the audience they had assembled with their harmonies reaching across the entire Christmas Market.
“I see the children play outside, like angels in the snow While mom and daddy share a kiss under the mistletoe And we'll cherish all these simple things wherever we may be Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me”
Owen came to stand next to y/n and wrapped an arm around her shoulder as they all sang the chorus together, the tall blondie on lead vocals and the others harmonizing in the background.
“I've got this Christmas song in my heart”
“Song in my heart”
“I've got the candles glowing in the dark I'm hanging all the stockings by the Christmas tree Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me”
As though they had prepared the entire performance, Booboo led them into the next verse while the others acted as backing vocals for him. His warm, deep voice sent chills down everyone’s spines, especially of the people in the crowd.
“I listen for the thud of reindeer walking on the roof As I fall asleep to lullabies, the morning's coming soon”
His cast mates then joined in again and together, they sang the chorus once again with Jeremy taking lead this time. While they did, y/n took a hold of Savannah’s gloved hand, squeezing it as they looked at each other with intent in their eyes. Like they meant what they were singing to one another.
“The only gift I'll ever need is the joy of family Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me I've got this Christmas song in my heart”
“Song in my heart”
“I've got the candles glowing in the dark I'm hanging all the stockings by the Christmas tree Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me”
Y/N turned her head to the other side now, locking eyes with Tori and Sacha, and shooting them a wink before they lapsed into the chorus one last time. It felt good to sing with everyone for once. During filming, it was always just a select group of people that got to sing together.
“Oh, the joy that fills our hearts and makes us see Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me I've got this Christmas song in my heart I've got the candles glowing in the dark And then for years to come we'll always know one thing That's the love that Christmas can bring Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me”
As the crowd erupted into cheers and applause, the group shared an intense look, one that said they were always going to be friends. No matter how far away they’ll be from tomorrow on. Even if they don’t get picked up for a third season, they’re always going to be there for each other and be the best of friends forever. The only gift they’ll ever need is the joy of family. And they were family.
Tumblr media
“That was so beautiful!” Jimmy exclaimed after they’d told him about everything that had happened that night in a short synopsis. “Now, I believe you’re gonna sing for us now?”
The cast nodded in unison. “Okay, what are you bringing us tonight? The song you sang at the Christmas market?”
Madison giggled, “No, though we love that song, there’s one we collectively think is one of the greatest Christmas songs ever. It’s the ultimate classic Happy Xmas, War is Over by John Lennon.”
“Amazing! You can go get ready!” he gestures to the tiled floor in front of the red curtain where the crew had set up their instruments and five microphones for them. “Catch Julie and The Phantoms season 2 on Netflix from tonight! They’re singing for us now. Madison, y/n, Charlie, Jeremy and Owen, take it away!”
Owen counted them in by slamming his sticks together and then began playing the rhythm of the song. Y/N then chimed in with the jingling of the tambourine before the other boys and Madison joined with their respective instruments. Soon after, Madison’s voice floated through the talk show’s studio.
“So this is Christmas And what have you done Another year over A new one just begun”
When the girls lock eyes, they shoot one another a wink before y/n takes over the next part of the verse.
“And so this is Christmas I hope you have fun The near and the dear ones The old and the young”
Then the boys chime in, their voices mingling as they linger in the air for everyone to hear and enjoy. Y/N lets her eyes dart over to Charlie, who’s already looking at her with a smile on his face.
“A very merry Christmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fears”
The others shut up, giving Charlie the floor now. He really was born to be a rockstar. The way he just owned the stage and looked like an absolute legend, singing his heart out and playing his guitar like a pro. And he’d only started learning when he was on season 1 of Julie and The Phantoms.
“And so this is Christmas For weak and for strong The rich and the poor ones The world is so wrong”
For a split second, he locked eyes with y/n again as she took over and faced the audience with a smile, still working her little tambourine for the extra jingles. Somehow, this just felt like one of their jam sessions during rehearsals and not at all like it was a live broadcast on national television.
“And so happy Christmas For black and for white Ooh, for everyone Let's stop all the fights”
Their voices mingled together again, and, in a boost of confidence, y/n grabbed the mic from its stand and walked over to Jeremy, rocking out with him as he shredded on the bass.
“A very merry Christmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fears”
The music slowed down, and while Madi, Owen and Jeremy took care of the soft backing vocals, y/n walked over to Charlie and sang the lines to one another, never breaking eye contact.
“And so this is Christmas And what have we done Another year over A new one just begun”
The music picked back up. Madison took over this time, and while y/n worked her tambourine, she danced her way towards the Latina girl with a smile plastered on her face.
“And so happy Christmas We hope you have fun The near and the dear ones The old and the young”
She then turned to Owen as he took over on the next part. He shot her a quick wink whilst his mouth curled up on one side. “A very merry Christmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear”
Each taking their turn, starting with Owen, they all sang a part of the backing vocals while the boys and Madison played the instrumental intermezzo. “Merry Christmas”
“So this is Christmas”
“War is over now”
Returning back to her spot, y/n placed her mic on the stand again, and along with the others, sang the very last lines of the song.
“War is over If you want it It’s over now”
The crowd erupted into cheers and applause while the band assembled in the middle of the stage. Charlie grabbed y/n’s hand and gave it a small, reassuring squeeze. All five of them together took a bow before exchanging knowing glances.
This time around, they knew they were going to see each other tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that as they were doing all the promo they could. It felt a lot more reassuring than it did that day at the Christmas Market when they had no clue when they’d see each other again. Though all of them knew that this was still the only gift they’ll ever need. Their little found family.

“Have you seen my gloves—seriously? Take them off the dog!” Reggie/anyone because Reggie. Reggie no.
While it was rare for it to get exceptionally cold in LA, Alex still had a dedicated collection of winter gear. This was due o spending winter holidays with his oma in Vermont where winter actually existed. And this year was no exception, with Olivia bringing baby Patrick, and she had promised to drive them all back to California herself if their parents started anything.
So now Alex had to dig up all his stuff before he left, and he had located almost everything-except his gloves.
He had searched high and low through his box of winter stuff, in the closets, and even (with her permission) in Julie's stuff, since she had a bit of a habit of being a clothes thief.
But no luck.
He didn't bother asking Luke-the dude barely wore sleeves, he had no use for gloves. And Willie had his own winter gear given trips to Vail with Caleb.
Which left Reggie.
"Reg," he called out. "Have you seen my gloves?"
He heard someone running towards him, but instead of Reggie, it was Leia, his pit bull mix who approached, her tongue out, tail wagging. And Alex's gloves on her two front paws. "Seriously?" Alex asked, glaring at Reggie who came panting behind her. "Take them off the dog!"
"But Alex it's wet outside and she needs a walk! I was just gonna borrow them and bring them right back."
Alex crossed his arms and continued glaring. "Reginald... One, she's a dog so she doesn't need to wear anything on her paws. Two, they make booties for dogs if you really want them. And three, we bought you a towel to dry her paws off which is hanging right by the door. So give me back my gloves."
Reggie sheepishly removed the gloves, rubbing Leia's ears as she whined about their loss. "I know girl, I'll get you some booties next paycheck, okay?"
Alex took the gloves, which were thankfully dry inside and out, but he still tossed them in his laundry that needed doing before he left. The sighed, because as much as he wanted to be mad, he loved how much Reggie loved that damn mutt. Not like Alex also loved her and gave her all the cuddles when no one else was home, no sir.
"Just... ask next time, okay?"
Reggie nodded and smiled, taking Leia for her walk, and Alex grabbed his laundry load, tossing them in the wash. Then opened up his computer to order Reggie some dog booties as a Christmas present.
Also a matching person and doggie sweater set. Because he wanted to see if Reggie would wear it.
Who was he kidding? Of course he would.
And he did, going so far to get Ray to snap some photos, and sending them to Alex. No one needed to know that he made it Reggie's profile picture.
Even if it was a really good shot and Alex congratulating himself on how well the booties matched the whole outfit.

needing the au to drop wherein i can commit to writing a historical au,, because since i first watched the db cooper job my mind went straight to OT3! OT3! OT3! (unlike with the van gogh job, since i aint playing with that fucking lieutenant)
one day maybe one dayyyyy i will sit down and i will write the ot3 into that episode's story. so, it'll be the backgrounds for the characters in the flashback (so, stephanie ritter, steve reynolds, and reggie wilkins), but with the necessary personality adjustments (parker, eliot, and hardison respectively). basically, vintage ot3 with some hot as hell aesthetics and secrets and avoiding as much as possible producing copraganda.
so. my thoughts. what i see happening. and this got super long so im throwing this under a cut. and for ease i will call them by their modern day canon names except when making a point.
first, general thoughts about the characters.
and so: steve to eliot. nothing much here on the surface. eliot still volunteers, too much an indoctrinated white man to have been forcibly drafted. so its still one man gone to war. one man come back. eliot would had been noticed early in training for his ability to pick shit up, and they teased at maybe sending him to a special unit. maybe they do, or maybe they don't because they just need to funnel fuckers to the jungle. the vietnam invasion was a terrorist imperialist venture and there's no romanticizing from me about anything done being at all valorous or special or brother-in-arms'y. and eliot commits war crimes under the american stars and stripes instead of just to keep moreau's champaign running. but also maybe moreau is eliot's superior. he certainly would have been rewarded for this ruthlessness. (eliot of course strove to impress moreau because there aint an eliot spencer who wasn't that man's dog at some point, i!!!! dont make the rules). eliot's friend died and eliot's gone off to carry out his wishes and moreau lets him because he Knows eliot is gonna come back. whether its to come back to the same squad, or follow him into deeper spy shit for the military, or to fuck off and go private. then eliot meets parker.
now. stephanie to parker. beth plays normal so well im mad at her, but there's something edgy and strategic about stephanie that i think parker can grab onto. i feel that maybe she was kind of a thief still, but there's more realism to this world so archie wasnt a super secret spy with lasers to practice with, but just a guy with sticky fingers whos a little bored and wants a protege. parker is good really good at what she does, and not having to deal with lasers makes me easy. but she's into scams that are less grifts and more Catch Me If You Can slight of hands. she's always looking for easy money (she was into lifting cars at one point! literally she follows where the crime is). she's doing something in an airport and someone tries to recruit her as a flight attendant because she's got the Look. and yall, flight attendants? that shit was like being a model and an astronaut and a time traveler back then. and according to a teacher i had, who once worked as in the f.a. union, those ladies back in the day were rad and queer and free spirited and runnnnning shit. i think, yes, it's a Job which i think we might resist placing parker into. but! of the jobs, at the time, i really see her rocking it during the time period. (also come on, the opportunities to swindle distracted people of their shit would be endless. they would just think they dropped their stuff in the airport! not that it was stolen.)
finally, reggie to alec. i think hardison will be the hardest to translate. even tho i admittedly listen to a lot of true crime podcasts, i dont know much about fbi life and also definitely don't know about it historically. part of me desperately wants to put him somewhere else even if it does have to stay within the fbi. i might cheat and make him like a Q(uartermaster) to 007/00s like in james bond, and he's like UGH this is horrible god i hate working for the fbi but they will give me funding so...... anyway, here's this totally cool [radio term]. that said, if hardison is stuck in the fbi, why he ends up there is that he is a fucking savant when it comes to research and the man can put together a presentation like no one else. that white man gets all the credit for profiling but it was hardison who goddamn was the google of the microfilm days. reggie felt super square but that might be because he had to deal with mcsweeties db cooper shit day in and day out for years. hardison is more himself. and definitely still a nerd. alec would be into dime fantasy novels and comics and ham radios and oh god he also would be into star trek like the original star trek as it came out and he would be into the zines yes! yessss. omg. also he plays a mean arcade cabinet. but he's mostly well adjusted but lonely. his colleagues dont appreciate him because fbi esp during that time were fucking wilding out and racist as hell aaaaaand im sorry im srry im trying so hard to have fbi hardison make sense but also! acab. ANYWAY.
second, the relationship
i think it would be fun to play with what it means to have parker/eliot start off first and bring in hardison afterwards. (if white collar is your thing, it would be like this canon divergent ot3 fic wherein peter burke is the last to join in.) i feel they would be Super Intense esp since they are carrying this big ass secret. kind of broken and dysfunctional and there's the passion and the commitment, but i think there's also a tenderness that's super hard for them to achieve? and i think there's a way that hardison plays such an important part in who they are and how they are. like, sure i think parker/eliot would have joy but they won't have levity. they would have compassion but they won't have gentleness.
eliot meets hardison after being recruited by nate. i think they get close because while nate and eliot have an interesting and compelling mentorship/friendship, nate is still eliots superior; sometimes its nice to complain about your boss, as hardison will say to eliot to try to make friends. i think hardison and eliot would become legit friends and not just work buddies because they are just not cut out of the same cloth as the rest of their colleagues. they grab beers after work. after hard days, hardison cajoles eliot into going to the arcade. they are friends. real real truly deep best friends, in a way hardison didn't think he could have with a fed and eliot didnt think he would have after his friend died. but also? they are like "buds" who are buds who are desperately tryna to cross any lines because there's a.... tension? an UST between them they dont know what to do with.
parker meets eliot by way of a "lets have my friend for dinner, he's a blast." and immediately immediately hardison is like... wow this woman is beautiful but like, really attracted to her personality. and parker things hardison is kinda dorky but cute dorkie? anyway, they have a puppy love situation growing. and it keeps growing until bam. eliot and parker are like. are we into alec???? fuck we are aren't we.
i think stephanie and steve would never tell reggie (even if somehow they were to be a thing). but parker and eliot? hell yeah they tell hardison. eventually. after a while. sooner than maybe they should. the tension if they should say something is one of the things that build up as UST between them for so long; parker and eliot know they are carrying this huge thing. two huge things. eliot being db cooper and also their massive crush on him.
if i could control myself to stick to a pwp, it would be another christmas. maybe the christmas nine (more?) years down the road. the damn snow grounded hardison's flight back to his nana's, and parker and eliot hear this and invite him over. the egg nog gets flowing and parker eventually is like,, fuck this. and comes onto hardison. and hardison would be like wow wow what but... idk, free love and swinging were In The Thoughts And Minds Of The People. he still checks in with eliot who is like. her body, man; i aint gonna tell her what to do. and for a sec hardison is like, man is this a cuck situation? i guess i can be for it but also...... aint mad if i aint alone. and eliot is so grateful and idk. i just want them all to be happy and having fun and no one to be left out. and yeah i am kinda brushing over a lot of the racial politics which, in a more developed fic rather than a pwp, would definitely need to be brought in; but idk that needs to just be in the bedrock of whatever plot is going into this.
it takes a lot of maneuvering of their lives but they make it work and eventually hardison is a keeper of eliot's secret too.
(apart from the historical aspect, another reason i probably won't actually write this is because i know myself. i would want to do worldbuilding. i would follow eliot and alec to their jobs, but i wouldnt want to write outright copaganda. the grit/realism i would be comfortable with would take a level of research i dont think i can commit to. but if someone wants to take this up or if you figure out a way around this issue, pls do i wont be mad)
