Buck: Maybe… we could just skip dinner and go straight to dessert Eddie: But I'm starving. I don't wanna skip dinner. Why would you even suggest something so stupid? Buck: Yeah, why would I

Timber Timbre
The firework that sets him off is probably a Roman candle, and way closer than all the other ones have been, by Hen’s estimate. Eddie is on the ground before she can say anything and Hen’s blood runs a little cold at the realization of what’s happening.
“Eddie,” she says gently. “It’s still fireworks, it’s okay.”
Eddie is squatting low behind the kitchen island, head down, and he’s visibly shaking. He nods jerkily, but his breathing doesn’t slow at all. Hen’s heart hurts, but she’s careful not to get too close. She’s well versed in many a mental health crisis, but what to do when your friend is having combat flashbacks feels a little out of her depth. She gets low with him, keeps her tone soft and even. “How can I help, Eddie?”
His eyes are wild when they meet hers, his hands clenching around nothing like he’s physically clinging to the present. “Can you-“ he stutters. “Where is-? I need Buck.”
Hen is on her feet as quickly as she can without startling him. “I’ll find him, okay? You stay right here.”
Downstairs, Buck’s holding the heavy bag for Chim, saying something that was probably meant to be encouraging but comes out more antagonistic. Their shift into being brothers has obviously been going well. They both stop in their tracks when they see the look on Hen’s face.
“Eddie needs you.” It feels important to say it the way he did.
Another firework goes off then and Buck pales. “Oh, shit.”
Then he’s taking the stairs two at a time with Hen and Chim not far behind. “Kitchen.” She calls after him.
Eddie is where she left him, but now his hands are pressed against his ears. Buck squats down in front of him slowly, ducking his head so he can catch Eddie’s eye. “Hey, hey, it’s okay, it’s me, I’m here.” He says, like it’s definitely not the first time.
He looks back and Hen and Chimney, whispers, “Can you guys sit with us a second?”
They nod, taking their places off to the left across from them, backs against the kitchen counter. Close enough if they need help, far enough away to keep their bubble intact. Hen’s grateful for the direction, and when Bobby comes out of his office, she waves him over, finger to her lips. He doesn’t question it, just squats down on Hen’s other side.
Eddie shudders, breathes hard out of his nose. Says, “Buck.” Real soft.
Buck nods, scoots closer at the recognition, reaches out to run his fingertips feather-light over Eddie’s forearms. “You’re in LA, Eddie. At the 118.”
Eddie gasps like he’s just reached the surface of water. “Doesn’t- doesn’t feel like it.”
Buck grimaces. “I know. I know, let’s go through it, okay?”
Eddie nods, once, lets Buck take his hands and keep going. “I feel,” Buck prompts.
Eddie closes his eyes. “Panicked.”
Buck nods, soft look on his face like pride. It makes Hen’s eyes water. Their boy has grown up so much.
“Because the fireworks made me think about,”
“The chopper going down. Getting shot at while the fire was burning. Greggs.” Eddie grits out through bared teeth.
Buck rubs his thumbs over the backs of Eddie’s hands. “But if I look around I can see,”
Eddie forces his eyes open with what looks like immense effort, trains them on Buck for a solid ten seconds before he looks around the rest of the room. “You. The 118. Bobby. Hen. Chimney.”
He looks at each of them in turn. Hen nods encouragingly, waves a little, which seems to increase the recognition on his face.
Buck smiles at him. “Yeah, that’s good, real good.”
Some of the tension seeps slowly from Eddie’s shoulders, and Buck rewards it with a squeeze of their joined hands. “Tell me what day it is.”
Another firework goes off in the distance and Hen wants to murder someone. Bobby looks like he’d help her without a second thought. The fucking audacity to set off explosives when you live by a firehouse is astounding.
Eddie winces but Buck stays firm with him, tapping his fingers rhythmically against Eddie’s knuckles. “What’s the date, Eds?”
“Fourth of July.”
“Exactly. Which means,”
“Morons.” Eddie answers, rote, like he’s been trained. The way Buck’s handling him right now, Hen supposes he has been.
“You got it.” He praises, pressing forward until his forehead rests against Eddie’s. “Chris was excited, though, remember?”
“Poke cake.” Eddie responds and Bobby smiles.
Midwestern traditions often mystify Hen, but Christopher was so excited to make that weird jello cake with Bobby and Buck that she couldn’t help but decide she loved that one. They spent all evening in Bobby and Athena’s kitchen last night, making gratuitously American dishes that should be objectively gross but that Denny and Chris were wild for. Poke cakes with red and blue jello, things being called “salad” that have never and will never be salad, and burgers that were always a welcome staple in Grant-Nash cookouts.
Buck is tapping his fingers on Eddie’s knees now, alternating as he prods Eddie to talk him through Christopher’s latest science project. Bilateral brain stimulation, her brain provides. Works for most long-term trauma treatment but can also be helpful during flashbacks. Evan “Internet Research Extraordinaire” Buckley certainly hasn’t been a slouch in this endeavor.
As he talks through Buck’s prompts, Eddie is slowly relaxing, sitting up on his own a bit more but shifting closer to Buck, tension slowly bleeding out of him as he points out the things he knows, the things he can see, what Bobby made for dinner, what Chimney’s favorite show is right now, what class he helped Hen run flashcards for. It makes Hen’s heart grow too big in her chest. To know that they’re a part of Eddie’s recovery, of him feeling safe.
“Where are you, Eddie?” Buck asks again after a few minutes of this. They’re side by side now, shoulders brushing as they lean back against the island cabinets.
Eddie takes a deep breath, sags a little against Buck. “I’m in LA. I’m at the 118 firehouse. You’re all here with me. Everyone’s safe.”
Hen smiles encouragingly at him, Chim says, “We’re here for you, man.”
Eddie looks away, mutters, “Esto es tan vergonzoso,” color staining his cheeks.
“Nuh uh.” Buck answers, firm. “None of that. No tienes nada de que avergonzarte.”
Hen knows Buck spent a while in Peru. Bartending, she thinks. She’s heard him speak Spanish to people on calls before, but his accent has historically been horrendous. It sounds like being in the Diaz orbit has been helpful for that. Hen doesn’t speak Spanish well, but she’s been in LA long enough to get the gist most of the time.
“Sorry you guys had to see that.” Eddie apologizes anyway, ignoring Buck.
Bobby shuts that down immediately. “Everybody’s got their demons, Eddie. We’re just happy we can help with yours.”
He tells Eddie he should take the rest of the night, even as Eddie protests that he’s fine and he doesn’t want to leave them hanging. “It’s just a few hours, Eddie. Take him home, Buck?”
Buck nods, looking relieved that he didn’t have to ask permission. Eddie still looks a little mortified, but it’s tempered by Bobby’s careful hand on his shoulder. “Get some rest, and I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“When do you think they’ll give in and just get married?” Chim asks after Buck bundles Eddie into his Jeep.
Bobby snorts. “I’ve had the paperwork ready to go for years.”

from the Unless finale
Eddie leans in closer, pressing harder, more securely against Buck from shoulders to thighs. “I wanted you,” he whispers and leaves a light brush of a kiss on Buck’s lips. “I want you.”
Buck holds onto him but leans to the side to look at him with a puzzled expression on his face. “You want me?”
What sort of question is that? No, Eddie does this all the time to everyone. He’s the one stealing firetrucks and hooking up in bar bathrooms. Because those are things Eddie would do. When he can’t even talk about having sex even with the man he loves without panicking. Whatever. Of course he wants Buck. “Do you think I don’t?”
“N-no. No, I don’t mean. I mean— what? What do you mean?”
Eddie means this is the strangest conversation he and Buck have ever had. Which says a fucking lot. “What do you think I mean? I want you. I wanted more. I wanted you to stay. You and your hard-on. We could have—” Eddie’s still not sure where they might’ve landed on the they could have had sex spectrum. But it would have been something more than Buck running to jerk off alone because he was too turned on and thought it wasn’t welcome. “I mean maybe you aren’t ready to have sex yet. I get that. We haven’t even said if we’re dating dating and it’s only been hours that we’ve been together. So… maybe this was better. Maybe we should wait. But…”
But he doesn’t know how to finish that thought other than Buck should have stayed. He needs Buck to stay. He wants Buck with him. He wants to take care of him and love him and be good for him.
Buck blinks at him then leans back even further and stares with a scrunched look of trying to do complicated math and failing at it. He even holds up a hand like he needs a teacher to call on him and answer his questions. “What? I just. I don’t understand. What do you—what?”
“What do you mean, ‘what’?”
“I mean who are you and what have you done with Eddie and I don’t know what you mean by, I want you. And we should wait? And you think I’m not ready to have sex yet? Why do you think we’re going to have sex? What do you want with me? Of me? What do you— w-what do you want when you say, you want me?”
What else might it mean? Were they not just making out all over the kitchen? Is it not obvious? Eddie didn’t think he would have to spell it all the way out. But maybe direct and to the point is the best approach?
He rests both his hands on Buck’s chest. His very soft, very warm, very muscled and beautiful chest with his beautiful beating heart that Eddie swears he can feel racing beneath his fingers. “Buck,” he says slowly, passionately, with as much warmth and love as he can possibly pour into his words. “I want to have sex with you.”
It doesn’t quite have the reaction Eddie was expecting. Or hoping for. Not that he knows exactly what he thought might happen, but Buck just blinks at him like Eddie’s suddenly confessed he was wrong and actually does believe in jinxes and the “q-word curse” and other stupid superstitions.
But he’s not the one who responds to Eddie’s declarative wanting anyway.
“Uhhh. If you’re going to do that, can you not do it in the kitchen,” Chris says from the doorway. “I eat here. We all eat here. It would have to be some kind of health hazard violation.”
Chris is leaning against the doorway. Without his crutches. Which somehow makes him far too stealthy and quiet. Either that or Eddie was just way too distracted with... never mind.
Eddie’s stomach, lungs, liver, kidneys, heart all plummet out of his body. Metaphorically of course because literally dying of mortification would give him an out from this situation. That would be too easy.
He pulls away from Buck and steps backward until he’s at the opposite side of the room, while Buck is left with his arms hanging in midair, curved around where Eddie used to be.
“We’re not,” Eddie says. “We weren’t doing— anything. We weren’t going to. We were just talking.”
Chris gives him a withering, skeptical look that only makes him look a thousand percent like his mother.
Which Eddie absolutely cannot handle right now.
“H-hey, Chris,” Buck steps toward the doorway, coincidentally or maybe not so coincidentally between Eddie and Chris, and turns into his bubbly, eager, friendly self. “Are you— are you hungry? Do you still want those pancakes? Cinnamon swirls and cream cheese icing? I was getting ready to make them for us.”
Chris wrinkles his nose and shakes his head. “Not hungry anymore. What’s going on? When did this happen? Why didn’t you tell me?”
Buck looks back to Eddie with clear worry all over his face, and Eddie tries to silently convey that everything is okay. Chris isn’t in the dark about how Eddie feels about Buck. He’s not angry with them.
Eddie’s pretty sure anyway. “It only just happened. We weren’t keeping anything from you.”
Chris gapes at him with wide, horrified eyes. “It just happened? That’s how you told Buck? By saying that? Oh my god, Dad! What were you thinking? That is so embarrassing.”
Eddie’s mouth falls open. “N-no. No! That wasn’t— That wasn’t how.”
Chris’ very disbelieving, very Shannon-face comes out again, and Eddie sags against the counter and rubs a hand over his suddenly aching head.
“No. Chris,” Buck says gently but solidly. Something firm and stead through storms and Eddie just wants to hold onto him and never let go. “Your dad told me last night that he’s in love with me. And I love him, too. I love you both more than anything.”
Chris turns his scrutinizing gaze on Buck this time and still looks skeptical, but also not so horrified. Just wary.
At this point, Eddie will take what he can get.

I desperately want oblivious!Buddie to play out for just a LITTLE longer so we get some “off-screen” gems. As in, absolutely bonkers events and quirks that we don’t currently know, but slowly find out before the boys figure THEM out. Such as Buddie grocery shopping together, Buck knowing Chris’ (AND Eddie’s) SSN, Chris having Buck’s phone number memorized because he didn’t have a phone when they first met and would call him on the house phone like for the Hildy prank, Chris has called Buck his dad to one of the firefam or Carla, Buck and Abuela have weekly phone calls now that she lives in Texas, Eddie is Buck’s POA (and vice versa), Eddie has a second pair of keys to Buck’s Jeep (Buck doesn’t for Eddie’s truck ONLY because Eddie is a passenger princess and if he’s not the one driving his truck then he just hands his keys off to Buck anyway), as early as late season 3 Christopher was drawing Buck into his family portraits (bonus points if it’s before the well happened), Buck has Christopher’s drawings on his loft fridge, Buck uses the family calendar on Eddie’s fridge too, Eddie specifically doesn’t buy certain foods because Buck has a food restriction that the Diazes do NOT also have (canon vegan Buck anyone?), Buck picks Christopher up from school enough to be known to both the teachers AND administration, they have a shared google calendar that Eddie hates (technophobe) but Buck updates regularly, there hasn’t been a week where Buck hasn’t stayed the night at least once at the Diazes since the lawsuit (yes, even through the divorce arc idc, let me live).
The whole “didn’t know they were dating” thing is becoming more and more appealing to me for Buddie with every passing minute, and I just think it would be funny if we got Hen or Maddie or even Christopher to call them out on little things like this that they do that they didn’t really think hard enough about to realize it was partner shit, not best friend shit. Plus, I know a lot of people want Buddie NOW because of Buck being canonically bi, but I’m still happy to wait a little longer if it means giving both characters the patience and care their stories deserve. ABC making them canon the very first season after the network switch WOULD be iconic, but given that I’ve been both ecstatic and nervous about Buddie after last Thursday’s episode, I think they should pace it. Give them both full realizations about their sexualities, a lil crisis about it for each too, maybe a different man or two before each other, the jealousy they’re BOTH now famous for, just a pinch more therapy about the shock of it all, and then somebody or something to knock their heads together and make them realize that their partner has been right there all along.
Honestly, I won’t lie and say that some of these aren’t based off of fics I’ve read, but they’re also so basic to Buddie that I couldn’t tell you specific fics, and I also definitely tried to come up with some that aren’t from fics in my memory, but claim them if you want lol, I don’t mind

The dreamy look in Chrissy’s eyes isn’t very hard to miss, it’s been there for weeks now. The smile that lingers on her soft features matches the lovestruck eyes. Lost in her thoughts, she completely dismisses the things you and Heather are talking about. You don’t take it to heart.
It took you a moment but once you noticed how her eyes light up and how her cheeks flush a deeper color every time Robin comes around, you realized what was happening to your sweet friend.
And by the look on Robin’s face every time she sees Chrissy, you know that she is feeling just the same.
Chrissy giggles more than usual whenever the taller girl speaks – she could say anything to her and Chrissy would smile and look up at her dreamily with her cute red cheeks. She probably doesn’t even notice how flustered Robin gets or how she stutters over certain words sometimes.
You are happy about Chrissy’s newfound feelings for her, knowing that Robin reciprocates them. She doesn’t have to hurt anymore.
“Are you gonna wear that to the party?” Heather asks, eying the dress on your frame.
You stop applying mascara and pull back to look at her reflection through the large mirror on Chrissy’s pink wall.
“Yeah, why?” You ask, looking down at yourself – self consciously.
She shrugs, closing the magazine she was previously reading, she throws it on Chrissy’s bed.
“It’s a shame that Munson isn’t coming tonight, I know he would’ve loved you in that dress,” she says, winking.
Chrissy stops brushing her hair and turns her head to look at you.
The look on Heather’s face is smug, she is twirling her curls with her finger, wiggling her brows at you.
It is a shame that he isn’t coming but tonight is his last campaign before he gives up his beloved Dungeon Master position to someone else, Gareth probably. High school is over and Hellfire club will no longer be a part of his life – he will still play but it won’t ever be the same again.
You are no longer Cheer Captain and Eddie is no longer the Dungeon master.
There is something sad about having to say goodbye to your High School days but there is also something exciting about stepping into the unknown and getting out into the world.
You and Eddie celebrated by having lunch with your mom and his uncle after the graduation ceremony. It was nice, you had fun but a part of you couldn’t rest, knowing that Steve’s parents couldn’t make it to see him graduating.
You haven’t seen much of him either, you saw him in the crowd and on stage when he got his diploma but that’s all, you couldn’t find him anywhere else afterwards. You couldn’t congratulate him.
A part of you hopes that he will be at the party tonight, though you doubt that he will come.
You don’t feel your cheeks warming up, nor do you notice the look in your own eyes. You shift uncomfortably, breaking eye contact, you lean closer to the mirror again. You place the mascara bottle back in your little bag and reach for the powdered blush.
“Oh honey, you don’t need any more of that,” Chrissy says, giggling as she touches your hot cheek.
You roll your eyes and shake your head at them, “you are both insufferable,” you mumble, “it’s a normal dress, he wouldn’t think anything of it.”
Heather giggles behind you, “oh my sweet y/n,” she sighs as she kneels down behind you, carefully wrapping her arms around you, she leans her chin on your shoulder, “you are so oblivious.”
You wonder what she would think if she found out that Nancy would agree with her words.
“And so blind,” Chrissy adds.
“Maybe our girl needs a pair of cute glasses,” Heather says, running her fingers through your hair.
“I don’t need glasses!”
“Sure, you don’t.”
“Heather,” you mumble, raising your brows at her, “how about we talk about you and pizza guy.”
“Pizza and weed guy,” Chrissy corrects you with a smile.
Unlike you, Heather doesn’t blush or get flustered. She smiles and shrugs, “what about us?”
You and Chrissy face each other with surprised looks on your faces.
For weeks, you have been speculating about Heather and Argyle, wondering if the two of them are a thing or not. Heather had been secretive about the meetups. At first, you both thought that she continued seeing Billy but then you saw him making out with a girl from the cheer squad.
Apparently Heather and Billy have never been a ‘thing’ in the first place. It was a ‘no strings’ kind of thing until one of them got sick of the other – which, you could easily suspect Billy to be the one who got sick but it was the other way around.
Heather had stood him up for Argyle. Billy didn’t give much of a reaction to it but unfortunately, he set his eyes back on you – much to your dismay.
“There is an ‘us’?” You ask in surprise.
Heather smiles brighter, she bites her lip and leans back, “maybe,” she grins, “I mean he just asked me to be his girlfriend the other day,” she says casually as she looks down at her nails.
You and Chrissy gasp at her words, you both turn around to face her and squeal in excitement as you both throw your arms around her, catching her off guard. She falls down against the carpet and you both join her, giggling.
“Oh my god!” Heather laughs.
“Heather has a boyfriend!” Chrissy says in a sing-song voice.
“We gotta celebrate it,” you say, squeezing your friend tightly.
“Oh we’re going to,” Chrissy smirks at you.
“I guess we’re getting drunk tonight.”
You would be lying if you said that you aren’t feeling the slightest bit nervous. You haven’t had any alcohol since the night you went on a date with Ray and that night ended badly.
By the time you actually make it to the big graduation party at Tina’s place, it’s already in full swing. The music is picked and chosen by her best friend Faithe – who strictly listens to 80’s pop music; Duran Duran, Wham!, Madonna – especially Madonna.
Your friends scatter away from you the moment they lay their eyes on Robin and Argyle – Argyle who scoops Heather up in his arms and kisses her in front of everyone to see. You can’t help but laugh.
Robin and Chrissy disappear in the crowd, giggling and leaning closer to each other, both sporting deep blushes on their faces. Cute.
Now that you’re alone, you can’t help but wish that you didn’t come. You wish Eddie was here. You are not mad at them for leaving you behind – they’re in love and in their own little worlds. You don’t blame them.
Though you can’t help but feel out of place and awkward standing here in the doorway, all by yourself.
Is that how your friends always felt when you would leave them just to be with Steve?
With a sigh, you walk further into the house, pushing through the crowds until you make it to the kitchen. You feel relieved to see that it isn’t as crowded as the living room or even the hallway.
The kitchen counter is littered with various drinks and snacks, greasy junk food that will surely look more appealing to you when you’re drunk. You grab yourself one of the red solo cups. Just as you’re about to pour yourself some punch, you get interrupted by a hand closing in around your wrist.
“Don’t drink that shit.”
You look over your shoulder, only to roll your eyes in annoyance when you notice the smirk on his face and the gross look in his eyes.
“Fuck off, Hargrove,” you mumble as you push your hand off your wrist.
“Let me make you a real drink, baby.”
Once again, you have to roll your eyes at him. You place the cup down and turn around to face him, “what and spike it with drugs?”
He raises his brows, lifting his hand up, he places it on his chest – of course, he wears the shirt unbuttoned, well almost.
“What do you think of me?”
“You don’t wanna know,” you murmur under your breath.
His blue eyes glisten with something, the smirk of amusement never falls. He takes a step closer – at least, he smells good.
“You look like you can use a drink, let me make you one. It’s better than the shit you were about to drink,” he says as he reaches for the bottle of whiskey behind you, purposely leaning closer until his chest is almost pressed against yours and you can feel his minty breath on your skin. He glances down at your lips.
“Billy.”
“Yes, sweet thing?”
You put your hand on his chest and push him away, “you’re not slick, stop trying to get in my pants.”
He chuckles and leans back again, he unscrews the cap of the glass bottle.
“Tell me,” he reaches for the red up and pours in some of the whiskey, “don’t you want to have a good time?”
“Uh, I am having a good time,” you lie.
He chuckles again and places the bottle back on the table before he reaches for another. He gives you a doubtful look, “you don’t look like you’re having fun.”
“I just got here.”
“And you already look like you wanna get out.”
You clench your jaw and look away, not saying anything.
“Where’s your boyfriend?”
“Eddie is not my boyfriend,” you mumble, narrowing your eyes at him.
Eyes smug and lips curled into a smirk, he shakes his head, “how’d you know who I was talking about?”
Crossing your arms over your chest, you huff.
“Is he not here tonight?” He asks as he holds out the cup to you.
You look down at the mixed drink, hesitating before you give in and take it from his hand.
“No,” you shake your head and lift the cup up to your lips, ignoring the way he looks at you as you take the first sip. The strong and bitter taste trickles down your throat, you can’t help but squint your eyes, “wow, that’s strong,” you say before taking another sip.
Billy groans, “shit, and here I thought I could make him jealous enough to finally confess his feelings for you.”
You swallow the drink just in time before you start choking.
You have been good at avoiding that topic after your conversation with Nancy.
“Are you okay?” He chuckles, stepping closer to pat your back gently, “do you need me to make you feel better?”
“Billy!” You groan as you push his hand off.
“It’s so hot when you say my name–”
“Leave her alone, Hargrove.”
Steve.
His voice sends shivers down your spine but it also fills you with relief.
Billy is not a threat, at least not to you. He might get on your last nerve but he is not Ray. Still, you are always annoyed by his presence.
Billy’s eyes light up like the ones of a kid on christmas morning. His smirk widens and he turns around.
Eddie may not be here but Steve is. Steve who wants you just as much as Eddie does. Steve who got jealous at every small interaction you had with Billy – Steve who still gets jealous.
Steve glares at Billy, with his hands on his hips, he waits for the latter to step away from you.
They look at each other and you are surprised to see Billy so relaxed, the sight of Steve usually makes him angry. Tonight, he seems to be in a different mood though. The scowl is replaced by a smirk.
He looks back at you before he steps away, “if you wanna have a good time, you know where to find me,” he winks.
“No thanks,” you scrunch your face up in disgust.
He chuckles and finally walks away, passing by Steve only to halt beside him. Billy stares him down, another chuckle of amusement falls from his lips. He slaps Steve’s shoulder, “lighten up, Harrington. Maybe you’ll get lucky tonight.”
Steve shrugs his hand off, he clenches his jaw and glares at the blond.
Billy shakes his head, “you sure need to blow off some steam,” he smirks, raising his brows, he gestures to you, “she needs it too – although, I’m sure Munson helps her with that,” he whispers with a smug look on his face.
“Fuck off,” Steve grumbles, though he can’t stop himself from feeling jealous.
Surprisingly, Billy drops it and walks away. Though, both you and Steve know that this isn’t the last you will see of Billy tonight.
Steve rolls his eyes and huffs in annoyance before he makes his way over to you.
Still with the drink in your hand, you stand in the same spot as before. Staring at him, unknowingly making him nervous.
“Hey,” he smiles.
He takes in the sight of you in your little black dress, your hair is falling softly over your shoulders, the front pieces are secured with glittery clips, your lips are a soft pink, shiny with gloss. Your manicured fingers are wrapped around the red solo cup.
You look beautiful. He wants to say, but he’s not sure if that’s something you want to hear from him again.
“Hi,” you smile up at him.
“Did your friends ditch you?”
“Yes, actually,” you chuckle, “Chrissy is hanging out with her… new best friend Robin and Heather is with Argyle.”
“Oh, the new guy with the long hair?” He asks, gesturing to the hair.
“Yeah!”
“Ah,” he nods.
Steve looks better, there are no dark circles under his eyes anymore, though his eyes still hold the same sadness as before.
You didn’t expect to see him here tonight. Him and Tommy aren’t friends anymore and now that he and Nancy are broken up, he doesn’t have her either. Steve always hated coming to parties alone so that leaves you wondering…
“Are you here with someone?” You ask, feeling a rush of jealousy at the thought of him being on a date with some other girl.
He shakes his head. Watching the way your features soften and your shoulder slump with relief when he says ‘no’.
“You’re here by yourself?”
“Yeah, I-I didn’t want to come but it’s the last high school party,” he says, shrugging. “I didn’t want to miss it.” I didn’t want to miss you. He reaches for one of the beers on the table, though when he opens the can and takes the first sip, he scrunches his face up in disgust. He hates lukewarm beverages, especially alcoholic ones.
“You don’t look like you’re having fun.”
“You don’t either,” he chuckles, eying the bored expression on your face.
“Well, getting drunk by yourself isn’t fun.”
Steve’s eyes are soft in a way they had never been before, not even when you just started dating, when things were still good, when he was still good to you. And just his eyes alone, the look in them is enough to cause a whirlwind of emotions inside of you.
You remember your night together. The one back in december. The one that was supposed to be your last night together. The one when you said goodbye – the one that was supposed to be your last goodbye.
There will never be a goodbye for you and Steve, not really.
“But… we could spend some time together.”
The look in his eyes is one of surprise. You may have been kinder to him in the past few weeks, but he still didn’t expect you to want to spend time with him.
“Y-You want to spend time with me?”
A mixture of emotions rush through him. Excitement, happiness but also nervousness. The last time you had spent a night together, it ended with you both crying.
You look around and he just now notices the sadness in your eyes.
The last time you went to one of Tina’s parties, he got smashed and he broke your heart. You want to replace those memories with new ones. As though it could ever kill the old ones.
“You don’t have to say yes, there’s plenty of girls who’d want to–”
“I wanna spend time with you.”
A shy smile appears on your face when your features relax again.
He smiles back, though he can’t help but wonder where Eddie is.
“Eddie isn’t here tonight?”
He watches you closely, the way your lips set into a slight pout and your brows furrow.
“No.”
Did something happen? He wonders. Where you go, Eddie goes. It’s odd to see you without him after seeing you with him, everywhere.
“Right so… Uh, what should we do?”
“What do you mean?”
You give him a smirk, placing the drink back on the counter, you lift your hand up. Steve can’t help but follow your movements with his eyes, only to stare in surprise when you lift your hand and reach for something… in your bra. He just now notices how the locket rests perfectly between your boobs.
He clears his throat and looks away with a blush on his cheeks.
“Are we getting drunk or high?” You hold the joint in front of his eyes, giggling when his eyes widen even further.
He grabs your hand and pulls it down, trying to hide the joint in your hand.
“Y/n!” He yells in a whisper, looking around to see if anyone saw, but there is no one looking at the two of you, there is no one in the kitchen at all. He turns back, looking down at you with a bewildered look on his face.
“Or both?” You giggle, “Eddie and I do both sometimes.”
He knows that it’s not only your looks that have changed in the past few months – it’s nothing drastic, it’s only different clothes, different makeup and your hair that you wear differently – maybe your perfume too. Clearly, you have changed too. You will always be a sweet girl, the one that is too kind to the world despite how harshly it treated you in the past, but he wasn’t aware that your opinion on drugs has changed.
He shouldn’t be surprised about the joint in your hand. You do hang out with Eddie, after all. Though, he didn’t expect you to be so open about this. Now, he can’t help but wonder if there are other things that you do with Eddie.
Steve won’t ask questions that he might regret asking. Instead, he agrees to both and pushes any thought that only leaves him upset, away. He wants to have a good night. He wants to have one good last high school party with you.
So, he takes the joint from you with the hand that is still holding the beer and with his free hand, he reaches for yours. Interlocking his fingers with yours. He feels his heart skipping a beat when you don’t pull away.
“Let’s do both.”
A smile tugs at your lips, you grab your drink from the counter, “let’s go outside.”
As Steve leads you out of the kitchen, he pulls you even closer to him before you walk into the crowded hallway. Neither of you notice the eyes that have set on you.
“Would you look at that?” Carol smirks as she turns her head to look at Tommy, who is looking down at his beer in boredom.
He lifts his head, looking down at Carol, he raises his brows at her.
She rolls her eyes and nudges her head in your direction.
“Oh,” he chuckles when he sees the two of you.
“Let’s make this party more interesting.”
-
Chrissy is drunk, not drunk on alcohol, drunk on something else.
Robin is talking about her favorite bands, the ones she wants to see live at some point. She’s waving her hand around as she talks – rambles. Robin’s cheeks are flushed but Chrissy doesn’t know whether it’s from the heat, the alcohol or something else – she hopes that it’s from something else.
Chrissy nods along with a smile on her face, admiring the girl in front of her. Loving the way Robin leans closer to her so she doesn’t have to scream over the loud music. She can’t unsee the small differences between them; Robin’s nails are painted black, silver rings adorn her long fingers while Chrissy’s nails are painted a baby pink color, a single golden ring is on her middle finger. Robin’s clothes are dark, Chrissy’s clothes are bright and girly. Their music taste is not the same, though Chrissy is open for changes. She loves how different they are.
Robin’s hair is short, her curls are messy, her bangs are long and they need to be cut, Chrissy can’t help but raise her hand to brush them away from her eyes so she can see her beautiful eyes.
Robin’s eyes widen at Chrissy’s action, the already pink blush on her cheeks takes on a red color and the blonde girl in front of her can’t help but giggle to herself when Robin stops all her rambling and starts staring at her instead, in silence.
Neither of them know how the other actually feels, if they weren’t so scared, they’d see the obvious signs.
They look into each other’s eyes, both trying to fight the smiles off their faces. Neither of them notice the girl that stopped in front of them with a worried look on her face.
“Hey, lover girls. Have you seen y/n?”
Both of them tear the gazes away from one another, clearing their throats and looking awkwardly at the brunette.
“W-What?” Chrissy asks, feeling grateful for the foundation she had put on her face earlier tonight. She can feel her hot cheeks.
Heather looks around the room, trying to spot you in the crowds but you are nowhere to be seen.
“I haven’t seen her since we got here.”
Robin straightens her back, a worried look takes over her face as well. She hasn’t even greeted you properly, too focused on the blonde beside her.
“Oh,” Chrissy mumbles, getting up to look around as well, “do you think Eddie came?”
“No, he takes his campaigns very seriously,” Robin says with wide eyes, “he got mad at me for even asking if he’d come. It’s the cult of Vecna tonight – whatever that means.”
“I’ve looked for her everywhere but–”
“She’s playing spin the bottle with Carol and the others.”
All three of them turn around to face the girl that chimed in. Tina.
“She’s what!?”
Tina chuckles in amusement, she nudges her chin into the direction of the dining room.
“Looks like she’s having fun,” is all she says before she walks off again.
The three girls share a look of confusion before they make their way over to the other room. Trying not to bump into any of the drunken girls who are dancing carelessly.
They all expect to walk in on a very drunk you. Because, usually it takes a lot to convince you to join a game of truth or dare, never have i ever and let alone spin the bottle. You don’t like kissing strangers or risking the possibility to kiss someone you cannot stand.
Though when they walk into the room and they see you sitting in a circle with a few people you don’t like, they can’t help but halt in their tracks and stare in confusion.
Tommy, Carol, Billy, Nancy, Jonathan, and a few girls from the cheer squad are sitting in the circle. None of them which you can stand – well, except for Jonathan, maybe.
And then there is Steve, who sits beside you.
You look… sober. Maybe a little intoxicated but very far from drunk or high. Although, when Robin takes a closer look at you, she notices the redness in your eyes, maybe you are a little high.
“What the hell,” Chrissy mumbles, looking at all the people in the circle.
Your lipstick is still intact, you probably haven’t kissed yet.
Carol is the first to notice the three girls, a smirk appears on her smug face, “oh, why don’t you join us?”
You turn your head, suddenly feeling flustered when you see your friends. Heather’s face says it all, ‘what the fuck?’
“No thanks, Carol.”
Billy smirks at Heather, “oh come on, Heather. Don’t you want a little kiss?”
She scrunches her face up in disgust, “no thanks, Hargrove. I’ve had enough of you.”
Chuckles sound through the room and Tommy claps his hand on Billy’s back, “you got burned.”
Billy chuckles, “not really, I’m gonna kiss someone else tonight,” he smirks, turning to look at you.
You don’t even know how you let yourself get roped into this. This wasn’t even supposed to be a game of spin the bottle, it was supposed to be truth or dare – though Tommy changed his decision at the last minute and managed to convince all the others as well. You didn’t want to chicken out, so you stayed and luckily, you didn’t have to kiss anyone yet. Neither did Steve.
For the first time tonight, you feel relieved that Eddie isn’t here.
You glance at Robin and Chrissy who stare at the men in the circle – both sporting looks of disgust. You smile in amusement. They both take a seat on the loveseat, clearly not interested in joining the game.
“Heather, come on,” Tommy smirks, eying her up and down, “it’s the last time you get to play one of these silly games. After this night, we’re all adults.”
“No thanks,” Heather snorts as she crosses her arms over her chest, “you still need to grow some, Hagan.”
This time it’s Billy who laughs at him, he leans closer, “burned,” he chuckles.
Nancy rolls her eyes, “I’m done playing.”
“Oh but Nancy, the game hasn’t even started yet,” Carol smirks at her, stopping her from getting up by placing her hand on her upper arm.
Nancy glares at the redhead and pushes her hand off. Jonathan looks tense beside her, he sits there awkwardly, looking like he wants to be anywhere but here.
How did Carol even convince these two to join?
Tommy and Billy look like they are having the time of their lives. The cheerleaders look… bored. Carol looks smug as always. You and Steve? You are both trying not to burst into giggles.
When Carol found the two of you in the backyard, you were laying on the grass, passing the joint back and forth and laughing about things that weren’t even funny. She got you at the right time, you and Steve would have said yes to anything in the states you were in. You were looking for amusement and now, well, now you got it.
Sarah kisses Tommy. Tommy kisses Hailey. Carol looks pissed.
You guess that the rumors about them are true. They are broken up. But what is new? No one has a messier on and off relationship than these two.
Hailey, one of the girls from the cheer squad, is the one who always makes up all these rumors that the people love so much. Her bright red hair makes her skin appear even more pale, though they match with the red lips which are now smudged. She spins the bottle and finally it lands on the one who has been waiting to be kissed.
Billy.
You are pretty sure that Billy had a taste of the redhead before – there aren’t many girls he hasn’t been with yet. He gets around.
You scoot a little closer to Steve and glance at him in disgust at the makeout session that is happening in front of your face. Gross.
Steve can’t help but chuckle at the look on your face.
“Dude,” Tommy laughs at his friend, “calm down.”
From the corner of your eye, you see Robin and Chrissy leaving.
When Billy pulls away, he gives Hailey a pat on the cheek. She giggles at him and licks her lips as she sits back in her place.
“This is gonna appear in my nightmare tonight,” Steve whispers to you.
You hold your hand in front of your mouth as you laugh at his words.
When Billy spins the bottle, your night changes for the worse.
You watch it spin with a pounding heart, for the first time, you watch it nervously.
Please don’t let it be me, please don’t let it be me, please don’t–
The glass bottle stops spinning and it’s pointing right at you. Oh god. No.
The music in the other room is still playing just as loud as before, though the laughter from Tommy and Carol somehow sounds louder than Billy Joel’s voice blaring through the speakers.
You don’t notice the way Steve tenses up beside you or the way his eyes flash with anger and jealousy.
“Fuck yes,” Billy chuckles.
You only feel the despair in your body and the annoyance that rushes through you when you look at a smug Billy, who looks like he’s won the lottery. His eyes are filled with excitement, his lips that are now red thanks to Hailey’s lipstick curl into a smirk.
“Come here, y/n.”
Steve clenches his fist and his jaw. The fire inside of him is burning.
“Yeah, y/n,” Carol tilts her head as she takes in the hesitation on your face, “don’t be such a pussy.”
Of course these words would come back to you. It’s what you said to her when she refused to kiss Lily, who already left after a few rounds.
You roll your eyes and take a sip of your drink before you put the cup down.
Heather, who is still around, gives you an apologetic look. God, you are glad that she doesn’t like him anymore, you would have preferred to be a ‘pussy’ than kiss some guy that your friend likes.
You meet Billy in the middle.
He doesn’t even hesitate to cup your cheeks with his hands. He doesn’t lean in, right away. He looks over at Steve for a split second, almost laughing at the look on his face. He turns his attention back on you.
You really don’t want to do this. You really don’t want to kiss him. You’d honestly prefer to kiss anyone else in this room except for Billy Hargove. Anyone. You feel the eyes on you. You feel Steve’s eyes burning into your skin. You feel Carol’s eyes on you. Heather’s and even Nancy’s.
Billy smells like cigarettes, whiskey and cologne.
He smashes his lips against yours and kisses you. You close your eyes to make it less awkward. You begrudgingly kiss him back. He slides his hand down to your waist and pulls you closer until your chest is pressed against his.
You want to roll your eyes at Tommy’s whistle and at Carol’s giggle but you ignore them.
Billy kisses you roughly – it’s not as bad as the kiss you have had with Ray but you still can’t shake the fact that you are kissing him. At least, his lips are soft. They taste like strawberry – probably thanks to Hailey and her strawberry lip gloss that she always wears over her red lipstick.
Billy’s lips move slower now but still just as deep, you feel his breath on your skin, his touch that is surprisingly soft. If you didn’t know any better, you would think that he is trying to savor every second of the kiss.
You make the mistake of letting yourself get lost in your thoughts. Suddenly, it’s not Billy kissing you anymore, it’s another man.
It’s his lips that you are kissing, his shoulders that you are touching, his ring that is digging into your waist, it’s him, it’s–
Billy. You are kissing Billy. You instantly pull away when the realization sinks back in, you push him away and pull back.
Billy chuckles, he looks at you through hooded eyes and leans closer, “that made me really fucking hard,” he whispers.
You scrunch your face up in disgust and turn away from him, wanting to escape him quickly. You glance at Steve, who is looking at the ground with an angry and powerless look on his face. Shit.
“Well, that was one hell of a kiss,” Tommy laughs, not looking at you, not looking at Billy but at Steve, he is looking at Steve and he is smirking.
“You must feel stupid, huh Harrington?”
“Shut up, Tommy.”
He pays you no mind, his attention is solely on Steve. And the others are staring at him as well. You can’t help but glance at Nancy, she’s looking at him with an almost pitiful look in her eyes.
You quickly reach for the bottle, wanting to kill the awkward tension in the room.
This night can’t get any worse. You think to yourself.
You spin the bottle as you inwardly curse at yourself for letting Carol convince you to join this stupid game. You didn’t even want to kiss anyone, let alone Billy. You didn’t want to upset Steve. You didn’t want to think about–
“Oh!” Carol laughs loudly, clapping her hands together.
Hailey snickers next to her, looking at you in amusement.
“Oh damn,” Tommy snorts.
Your heart begins to race in your chest but you don’t even know who it’s pointing at yet. You have a feeling who it is. And when you see the apologetic look in both Jonathan’s eyes and Heather’s eyes, you know.
You blink and take a deep breath before you glance at the bottle.
The bottle that is pointing right at him. Steve.
The girls around you are giggling, giving you smug looks. Carol is staring at you expectedly. Bitch.
Steve is staring at you already, suddenly, every ounce of anger has faded away. His eyes are wide, lips parted as he looks at you.
This isn’t ideal. This shouldn’t have to happen this way. But, he would be lying if he said that it’s something he doesn’t want. Maybe, this will be the last time. Maybe, this will be the only chance he gets to feel your kiss again.
“You don’t have to,” he whispers to you, but you are already moving closer to him.
You won’t walk away now. It’s exactly what they want, they want to see you running away. But you won’t run away, not now, not yet.
You ignore the pounding in your chest, the butterflies that dance in your stomach when you lean closer to him. He looks at you, wide eyed.
You don’t want it to happen this way but would you deny a kiss with him, right now? No.
“It’s just a kiss right?” You whisper as you gaze into his hazel eyes.
How could it ever be just a kiss?
You are the one to move even closer to him. You are the one to cup his cheeks.
Steve’s heart is surely about to explode.
He hates that this has to happen like this – that it’s caused by a game. That this isn’t supposed to mean anything.
Despite the others in the room, the loud music, the eyes on you. You both fade out everything around you.
It’s just you and him now.
You lean in, he leans in.
And for the first time in a long time, your lips brush against Steve’s and that is enough to set all your insides on fire. Just a simple touch.
You peck his lips, you only peck his lips and Steve is already in bliss. But then you smash your lips against his and suddenly, he is back in heaven. The light is shining again, the warmth is flooding back in, the sweetness of your lips is enough to mend his heart that he broke himself.
He doesn’t hesitate for a single second to kiss you back. He cups your cheeks and pulls you as closely as he can.
Everything around him stops existing.
All there is, is you and him.
He feels you, he feels your touch, your lips, your kiss.
He feels your love that is pouring back in.
He feels you.
You, you, you.
Everything falls back into place again.
Your lips are moving ever so softly with each other. Desperately but still passionately. Your lips still taste like cherry, his still taste minty.
His heart is racing, yours is too.
He holds you tightly but gently, he doesn’t want this moment to end, he doesn’t want to stop kissing you, he never wants to stop kissing you again.
This is right. This is what he is meant to do. This is all he’s ever dreamed of and more. He missed this. He missed you so much.
But the moment could never last long enough and he crashes back into reality when you pull away in need of air. Your lips part from his, your touch leaves his body and everything that is left behind is the kiss that lingers – the kiss that will linger for the rest of his life if this is the last one he gets from you.
His lips tingle and he fights the urge to touch them.
He doesn’t want to open his eyes, he doesn’t want to crash back into a world where you aren’t his anymore.
When he does open his eyes and he sees the look on your face, the shock in your eyes, the emotions that are still there, the love. He knows, he still has a chance.
He can still have you.
He can still fight for you.
He can still get you back.
But, for now, he lets you walk away when you make up some weak excuse and rush out of the room.
Heather doesn’t even hesitate to follow you out, calling your name and rushing after you. She passes by Argyle who is talking to a group of guys, she gives him an apologetic look.
You push past Jason Carver, pushing him out of the way.
“Hey!” He yells, “watch where you’re going!”
“Shut it, blondie,” Heather snaps at him.
You grab the leather jacket that you have left on the counter earlier and finally leave the house. The fresh air calms you down in an instant, you embrace the silence and feel grateful that there is no one out on the porch, right now.
No one except for you and Heather.
She shuts the door behind her, she crosses her arms over her chest when the chilly wind touches her bare arms.
“Are you okay?”
You lean against the railing and sigh.
“Yeah. You should go back inside, Heather.”
“No.”
She refuses to leave you alone when you’re upset.
“I’m okay.”
“But–”
You turn back around, “I’m okay,” you repeat, trying to smile at her.
“I promise, I just need a moment to myself after all of… this.”
“Are you sure?”
The sincere look in her eyes makes you smile, genuinely, this time.
You nod.
“But if you need anything, you tell me and I’ll take you home and we can have a girls night with Chrissy. Robin too.”
Your eyes soften.
“We should actually do that sometime.”
“We should.”
“Now go back inside, I’m sure your boyfriend misses you.”
She looks down and smiles, “alright..”
She turns back around, hesitantly.
“I can’t believe you used to kiss Billy all the time.”
Heather turns around to glare at you, “don’t ever mention that again.”
You giggle at the look on her face.
“I can’t believe that you kissed Billy and Steve in one night,” she smirks, winking at you before she walks back inside, leaving you by yourself.
“Right..”
You want to forget about the kiss, the one with Billy at least.
You reach for the pack of cigarettes in your pocket, walking over to the porch steps, you sit down and light a cigarette. You don’t smoke very often, only when you’re stressed.
You enjoy the silence, though, it doesn’t last very long. Someone steps out on the porch and you inwardly pray that it isn’t Steve or Billy.
The footsteps give it away, it’s neither of them.
You lift your head to look, it’s no friend of yours either.
It’s Nancy Wheeler standing in front of you – no, sitting down beside you.
“Hi.”
“Hey.”
For a moment, you both sit in silence. You offer her a cigarette, to your surprise, she takes one and lights it up.
“So, did you start paying attention?”
You shake your head with a small smile. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Oh, sure you don’t,” Nancy chuckles.
You turn your body towards her, you lean back against the railing and look at her curiously.
Nancy crosses her legs and smokes the cigarette, giving you a tight lipped smile.
“Still oblivious, I see.”
You’re not fully oblivious. Not anymore.
“Y-You think that Eddie and I like each other.”
“No.”
You furrow your brows.
“I don’t think, I know.” She shrugs, “I guess, I just wonder why you and Eddie aren’t dating.”
You’re a little flustered by her words.
“Because he is my best friend?” You mumble as you stub out the cigarette and look down.
“Yeah, that’s what you already said, last time and it still doesn’t look like it.”
You give her a questioning look, you stare at her, and suddenly, she feels flustered.
“Why do you even care?”
Nancy hesitates, she looks down at the cigarette between her fingers. Her shoulders are slumped but she is still tense. Nancy pities Steve because she can see how much he is suffering, how much he loves you, how much he still wants you but she can’t deny that you have been in pain for so many months, some of the pain which has been caused by her. The least she can do is help you, help you understand, help you to see.
“I’m just, I’m sorry.”
She folds her hands in her lap after stubbing out the cigarette. She glances at you, almost shyly and with a hint of guilt in her blue eyes.
“What?”
She closes her eyes, she fidgets with her fingers and takes a deep breath before she opens her eyes again.
“For everything.”
Oh.
“I’m sorry for taking him away from you. I-I saw the way you two looked at each other back there. I guess, I just now realized what I’ve ruined.”
“It would’ve been someone else if it wasn’t you, Nancy.”
She furrows her brows, looking at you, almost bewildered.
“No, I don’t think so. He loves you.”
“Well, that realization came a little too late.”
“Did it?” Nancy asks, carefully.
You hesitate before you say ‘yes’.
She nods.
“But, why do you always bring Eddie up?”
“What?”
“You always talk about.. Eddie,” you frown, “do you want him now?”
The thought of it angers you. Does she always want what you have?
“Do you want Eddie now that you realized that Steve isn’t the prince you thought he was?”
Her eyes widen, “no! No, it’s not that! I-I just, I was jealous of you, not because of Eddie,” she says, shaking her head at the thought of Eddie. “I wanted what you two have.”
“A best friend?”
“That’s the thing.. I never thought you two were just… friends.”
You wait for her to continue.
“I wanted that hand holding in class, that cute bantering in the hallway, someone to lend me a shoulder whenever I need it, I wanted to be free like you were. Showing my love openly – and I found that in Jonathan. We started of as friends b-but that would have never been enough. He taught me about true love, about feeling cared for, and he waited for me. He waited and waited and I hurt him over and over by not breaking up with Steve.. Does that sound familiar?”
“Oh.”
By the look in your eyes, she knows that you begin to understand a little. Your eyes that soften when you think about him.
She opens her mouth, but she never gets to say the words she’s been meaning to say all night, because the man you have been talking about steps out. Interrupting your conversation.
Both you and Nancy turn to look at him.
He looks taken aback by the sight in front of him. He figured that you weren’t by yourself, he didn’t expect Nancy to be the one out here with you.
“Uh, can we talk y/n?” He asks, still looking between the two of you with a confused look on his face.
You and Nancy can’t help but share a look of amusement.
“Yeah, sure.”
Nancy pushes herself up with a sigh, she glances at you and gives you a small smile before she walks past Steve and walks back into the house.
Steve scratches the back of his neck, he stands there, awkwardly for a moment.
He still hasn’t told you about the break up but, he knows that you know. Everybody knows.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” you nod, “are you?”
He walks towards you and you get back up on your feet, looking up at your ex boyfriend. Your ex boyfriend that you just kissed.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” He asks.
You shrug, “you just kissed your ex girlfriend in front of your other ex girlfriend.”
His mouth set in a hard line before he looked away with a chuckle.
An amused huff escapes you. You try to walk around him but you trip and stumble, almost falling backwards but his large hands catch you, he wraps them around your waist and pulls you closer. This time you stumble forward, right into his chest.
He uses the opportunity to wrap his arms around you fully.
“Let’s not repeat your fall from years ago.”
You gape at him.
“Can’t you let it go?!”
His eyes crinkle with amusement.
“Fuck no, I’m not letting it go. I saved you and you panicked and pushed me down – I still have the scar on my hip from it!”
You roll your eyes, chuckling.
“What did you want to talk about?”
He doesn’t answer your question, instead, he takes your hand and leads you away from the entrance, away from the porch lights, away from the place where people can see you.
You don’t question him, you follow him, just the way you always did.
Behind the house, there is no light but the moon shining down on you. And Steve can’t help but want more of what he just had.
He whispers your name and you know, you know what he wants.
“Will you forgive me for what I’m about to do?”
“What–”
He cups your cheeks and leans down to kiss you. He needs more of what he just had.
You gasp against his lips but you so easily melt into the kiss.
And the moment you kiss him back, he wraps his arms around you and suddenly, his hands are all over you, your back, your waist, the back of your neck. He is pulling you in, closer and closer until there is no space left between the two of you.
You are kissing him. You are kissing him back. Not because of a game. You are kissing him because you want to kiss him. You want him.
His heart soars.
Everything inside of him screams in joy.
He needs you, he needs you closer and closer.
He kisses you desperately.
Your tongues meet and the kiss gets more feverish, more passionate than before. Maybe more passionate than ever.
You whimper into the kiss and he is sure that it’s enough to make his heart explode.
You kiss him just as desperately. You are needy, like him.
Warmth blossoms Steve’s chest. His heart is feeling whole for the first time in a long time.
You are both breathing heavily in between kisses. He can’t get enough of you. How could he ever get enough of you? How could he ever throw this away? How could he ever push you away?
His feelings, his emotions seem to get in the way – they seem to get in between the two of you because you can feel it, you can feel what he is thinking about.
Because you begin to feel it too. The more you open your heart to him, the more you let him in – the more it hurts. You curse at it, you curse at the pain and at the dark stain that he had left on your heart.
You savor the kiss, just like he does.
He savors it too. Your kiss isn’t a promise. Not even your love is.
He destroyed too much.
And though you don’t want it, you push him away and ignore the way you already miss him and the feeling of his lips on yours.
“W-What are you doing?” Your voice is shaky and your eyes are glossy. You look up at him with saddened eyes.
Steve’s hair is disheveled, his lips are puffy from the kissing.
And he looks defeated because the look on your face tells him that this won’t mean anything.
“I-I’m sorry.. but I-I just needed to do that, at least one last time.”
You frown at his words. Despite the seriousness of the situation, he can’t help but think that you look cute.
“You can’t just kiss me after everything!” You snap at him and push past him, walking away from him.
“Dolly!”
“No!”

Ok, i thought i'd give you a few options.

Eddie being a clueless, naive knob when his crush comes on to him in increasingly obvious and suggestive ways and he just can't put two and two together until she's forced to grab him and be like, hi. hello. I'm trying to fuck you here. please compute.
Sorry if these seem stale. I'm not the most creative and they're all smut because I'm a degenerate too. Love your writing :)

Eddie Munson x Fem Reader
A record store meet-cute with Indiana’s most oblivious guitarist.
Warnings: Blow job and fingering, that’s it that’s all have fun.
A/N: Okay look, for one? Not stale at all. Also, degeneracy supremacy for all. This did the trick and in fact I also wrote the Gator prompt too because that was fun. However Steven eludes me lately so while I wanted to make all the dreams come true, alas I could not. These might not be exactly what you were aiming for? But there’s smut? And they’re fun? Meh, thank you for sending these in friend! Also I think I inadvertently channeled my dearest @chestylarouxx with this one so you know it’s gotta be good.
Gator will get posted separately.
18 + NSFW No Minors
He’s in the store all the time, always on your shift and usually finding you with whatever question he has like when he can’t find a new release or someone has misfiled a vinyl. He asks your opinion on the new releases and laughs when you roll your eyes, a scoff thrown at a new Madonna single. He’ll give you a shocked look when you tell him that you do in fact like Heart and also when you try to explain the shared root between his beloved thrash and the current punk scene.
Despite his affection for arguments with you he persists with toothy grins and a constant promise to ‘show you some real music’ sometime. There’s an undercurrent with your conversations, a feeling of flirting, like when he pulls that chunk of hair across his face while he tells you about his band. He gets bashful when you show interest and ask if it’d be cool if you went and all you can imagine is that dark hallway in the back of the bar and what he might look like under that dimming, yellowing light. It earns you a short nod and one of those smiles, lips tight over his teeth while his dimples dig craters into his pink cheeks. He says he’d love it. Says he can’t wait to see you. Says he’ll let the guys know they’ve got a number one fan now.
So when you get to the end of said night, after the fairly big crowd and all his other friends have filtered out, after his band has almost put up most of the equipment, after he’s collected their cut of the entry fees, you linger. Sitting at the end of the bar with your beer that you’ve been nervously picking the label off of for 20 minutes, waiting on him to make his way over. He taps the bar top and thanks the owner and starts his meandering walk toward you, counting back ones from the roll in a practiced hand. He looks like all the little daydreams you’ve had while watching him wander around the record store, dark hair damp from sweat and curling around his ears. His thin tee clings to him like his jeans cling to him and your heart hammers at the thought of pulling him back those few feet into that blessed, dingy hallway.
“You guys put on a hell of a show.”
“Oh you think so?” He looks up from his money and grins at you, the only girl in the room it would seem. You nod and laugh and start to pluck up your courage when one of the waitresses walks out of the back and squeals before grabbing his bicep and squeezing.
“Oh my god Eddie! You did so good tonight!” You can see her nails pressing into his skin and how his cheeks flame at her praise and suddenly you think you maybe misread this whole thing. “I told you there were gonna be more people this weekend!” She pulls him down and into her space, her nose scrunched up with a big smile for him.
“Thanks Vic.”
“I told you Robin would work miracles with those posters.” She gives him a final squeeze and gets back behind the bar to tie her apron on. He watches her walk down the bar until she takes an order and his gaze slides back to you, a little sheepish.
“Sorry about that.” He shoves the wad of cash in his front pocket and leans on the bar next to you. “You enjoyed it though?” He gives you a wide eyed look, anticipation rounding out his bambi eyes.
“Yeah.” It comes out more clipped than you meant so you clear your throat and direct your gaze back at your peeled Budweiser label. “Yeah, exactly like you said it would be.” A wide smile that you don’t let hit your eyes. Eddie shifts a little, his demeanor softer than it was before, his post show swagger gone when he tilts his head down to try and catch your eyes glued to your bottle.
“You sure? You just seem-“
“I-I’m sorry, it’s actually just-before I came out tonight I found out I need to open so.” You rush it out at him, glancing at your watch and never once noticing the actual time. “I didn’t want to just leave, but I gotta get going I’m sorry.” You shrug at him, half apologetic while you dig a five out of your wallet and toss it on the bar. “Hopefully I’ll see you on Tuesday though? Souls of Black is coming out!” You toss that over your shoulder to give your abrupt departure a bit of a softer hit. Eddie yells something after you that you pointedly ignore and you try your hardest to not kick the door open into the muggy night.
Tuesday morning and you pull a cassette from the display to hold on to. Not like it’s flying out the door but you know Eddie will beeline for you first thing, no matter what far corner of the store you’re occupying. You keep it tucked into one of the pockets on your half apron so you don’t forget it and so you can pull a magic trick when he inevitably comes up and asks you even though he walked by the display.
Noon rolls by and you see nary a curl come through the front door. By 2 you’re hanging out at the register, a permanent fixture there while your coworker takes advantage of your fixation and putzes around in the back. At 4 you contemplate calling the police because this is the most strange behavior you’ve witnessed from Hawkins’s residential Weirdo and at 6, when you flip the sign over to tell everyone you’re closed, you start to think you might have fucked up. Carla, your coworker, reminds you of the cassette in your packet when you toss your apron at the register. A little crease between her eyebrows when she asks, “That for Eddie?”
“Yeah, I was gonna be funny and tell him I could pull stuff out of my ass.” You tell her with a dry laugh and stash the tape under the counter.
“He never misses a Tuesday.”
“Yeah, well, first time for everything.” You shrug.
5 PM Wednesday night brings a rainstorm to downtown and a drowning rat in the form of a drenched Eddie into your store. He shakes off like a Labrador in the doorway and grumbles when he has to peel his jacket off his clammy arms.
“Hey stranger.” You say behind a pop of your gum. Barely looking up from the rolling stone you’re reading when he stomps over to the new releases.
“You’re shitting me.”
“What?”
“There’s no god damn way a Testament album sold out in Hawkins.” He throws his arms up dramatically and lets them slap down onto his damp jeans. Again you barely look when you pick up the stashed tape and hold it aloft, waiting for him to finally turn around and see. “What, did Gareth come in here first and snag the only copy or something?” He snaps cases together angrily while he shifts through them and you almost tell him to quit pitching a fit but it’s a little fun watching him dripping all over the linoleum. His hair clings to his neck, his white ringer tee see through over his shoulder where the rain got in under his collar. You spare a moment to think about what the rain must taste like on him.
“Eddie.”
“Seriously! First my piece of shit van didn’t start yesterday again so I was late to the shop which in turn meant I didn’t get over here.”
“Ed.”
“And then this fucking storm shows up out of fucking nowhere and I’m fucking soaked and I don’t have my fucking tape-oh.” He turns, fist clenched in front of him like he’s tearing at invisible threads, and stops mid rant when he sees the rectangle in your hand. “Oh hello gorgeous.” He looks like he’s in love and he holds out his hands towards you, grasping your fist in both of his to gently shake it. You laugh at his dramatics and let out a yell when he hops onto the counter, ass planted directly on your magazine you were staring through.
“You’ve made me the happiest man in the world you know that?”
“I have that effect on a lot of guys.” A buff of your nails against your collar and Eddie huffs. He pulls his shoulders in and gives you a side eye that feels a little personal for a second.
“Well alright, statement still stands.” He reads the track list on the back, a slight squint of his eyes and you wonder briefly if he needs glasses. “You listen to it yet?”
“Psh, no.”
“Why not?”
Well, you’d had a plan since the terrible show night and you stomping out of there with your feelings hurt over nothing.
“No one else I know listens to them, thought you’d maybe like to listen to it together?” This is the most courage you’ve ever had, you think as you look up at him through your lashes. “It’s not like a big deal or anything but-“
“Can I borrow your phone?”
“What?”
“I mean yeah, obviously I’d love to listen together but I need to make a call first.” He flashes you that big smile again and you hand the store receiver over. That nervous knot that had begun to form in your stomach is all but gone with his revelation:
Obviously he’d love that.
Obviously! It’s been so obvious right? He’s your number one customer, he’d walked right for you in the bar, and now he’s vehemently agreeing to listening to this album with you, giddy with excitement.
“Hey! Jeff! Put your dick away we’re coming over.”
Jeff? Jeff his guitarist?
“No, I’m at the record shop I got it! Yeah, yeah she’s a real sweetheart she held a copy for me.” Eddie rolls his head to face you and gives you a wink. “I know, she’s the best right?”
Fucking Jeff? You stare at Eddie, dumbfounded, yet again questioning how you keep reading this man wrong. What part of ‘do you want to listen together’ qualified a third party?
“Yeah, we’ll be over after close.” Eddie hands you the phone to hang up and you go through the motions, turning your body away to stare at a spot on the counter so you can frown deeply without him noticing.
“This is gonna be great.” He claps his hands together before hopping down off the counter and pulling his wallet out to pay. “I can finally smoke you out like I’ve been promising.” He wiggles his eyebrows like he’s some kind of cartoon wolf and you feel like you’ve missed a step on the stairs. What is he doing? Is this flirting? Does he use Jeff as a pawn in his games or is he just not picking up what your putting down?
“Yeah, it’ll be great, can’t wait.”
The hang out at Jeff’s wasn’t awkward but you think something is broken in your brain with how off the mark you seem to be.
You’d been aloof with Eddie when he’d first started hanging around you in the shop, not sure how to take his overly forward approach but he’d grown on you quick and the banter was good. He lobbed the conversation back and forth with you with practiced ease and really it was destined for you to find him charming. With his dimples and his music taste and his tattoos it was inevitable that you’d spend your afternoons shooting glances out the window, waiting for him to breeze in with a joke or another long winded story that he’d loose the thread for halfway through. He’d apologize and you’d laugh and sometimes he’d blush at you and that feeling that you thought was there?
Maybe it wasn’t.
You weren’t being particularly subtle with him. Friendly flirting it may be but your touches always lingered longer on his forearm, your lashes always fluttered at his nicknames and your giggles were sprinkled freely for him through his visits. Standard faire ‘come get me, I’m yours’.
Once again at work, mindlessly alphabetizing and sending yourself into a doom spiral you hear the bell above the door ring and a quick glance up makes you pause.
It’s the whole band this time, Eddie in the lead and heading straight for you.
“What now?”
He stops in his tracks, hand flying to his chest in mock affront. “To your favorite customer?!”
Jeff snorts and Gareth and Frank roll their eyes and immediately wander off to the record bins.
“You come in here with a purpose, I need to brace myself.”
“It’s not even for me!” Eddie whines and leans on your cart full of tapes. His rings clack against the plastic casings and catch the overhead lighting, distracting you for a second. “It’s for Gareth, we need to know what you have for a Jazz section.”
“Jazz?” These men confuse you with every new turn. Gareth has already found what he was looking for though, sitting on the floor and flipping through aging cardboard sleeves.
“What does he know about Jazz?” You ask Eddie when he wanders back over with you.
“Oh he was the drummer for the jazz band in high school, you don’t remember that?”
“No, I wasn’t in band.”
“Ah.” He’s leaning on the fixture you need to reorganize but you don’t want to ask him to move, the sunlight shining in at just the right angle to light up his features. You could kick yourself with how enamored you sound, especially when he seems to be woefully uninterested in you and your flirting.
“Hey Eddie?”
“Hm?” He turns to look at you over his shoulder, brown hair gleaming like satin in the sun. His eyebrows hitch up and he tucks his lip between his teeth to worry at it. A thousand little fantasies about that lip glide through your thoughts and you decide to give it one last go.
“Would you like to go out for a drink sometime?”
His lashes flutter at you while he processes your question, his guard down with no witty response lined up.
“Oh like…like w-when?” He’s not meeting your eyes anymore, hands shoved into his jeans pockets. He shifts back to lean his weight on his other leg and leans away. He clams up and distances himself. “Because we’re free tonight after you close, but I know it’s a week night and you might be busy or whatever.” He cocks his head over to the other three grouped around the record crates and you realize it finally.
He’s letting you down soft. He doesn’t hate you, at least there’s that. He’d like to hang out sure, but there isn’t a romantic undercurrent like you’ve been imagining.
“Uh, yeah, tonight works.” You shrug and turn off your emotions. There was a brief prickle of heat behind your eyeballs but you stomp your foot down on that, converse pinning that feeling down like a moth in a frame. “Whenever though, I don’t want to interrupt your plans.” That roiling in your gut squirms under the pinprick and finally stills and you make sure your smile reaches your eyes this time. Eddie agrees and tells the guys and when they’re all standing at the register to check out you keep your cool. The countdown begins when you start typing in the prices, just ten more minutes before they’re on their way out and you can stand in the back and cry. You think about Carla giving you that sad little look and you know it’ll be a waterfall for sure.
“What fresh hell-“ Eddie yells and pushes the door open, red and blue lights flashing for a second before the cruiser engine shuts off. “Hey! I’m not parked illegally!” He shouts out at the deputy holding the windshield wiper of his van up, ticket clutched in his fist. When all Eddie gets is a blank stare he rushes out, leaving his friends staring after him.
“This’ll go over well.” Jeff sighs and hands you cash. “You’ll get to hear about this tonight for 8 hours.”
“About that. I might need to reschedule actually.” You can feel the cracks in the dam and you really don’t want to cry in front of these people.
“Oh?” Gareth gives you a side eye, something slick and calculating. Your eyes dart out the window to see Eddie gesturing at the signs on the street and you sigh heavy, handing their bag over to them.
“Yeah, I just forgot what uh, umm…” Trying to find a good excuse is impossible and he sees it on your face for what it is, an excuse.
“Oh my god Frank you owe me twenty bucks.” Gareth holds out his hand without looking at his friend. “I told you she didn’t have a boyfriend.”
“What.” That stops whatever waterworks were about to spring a leak. Gareth is smiling the biggest shit eating grin and suddenly Jeff and Frank are laughing while money is exchanging hands. “What are you talking about.”
“I’m so sorry to be the one to tell you this, but Eddie is the biggest fucking idiot.” Gareth laughs and pockets his money. “Like, I love that man but he has no idea what is going on.”
They aren’t laughing at you but you still feel rooted to the spot, and since none of them have started sharing this secret yet you start to get antsy. Jeff takes pity on you finally and tells you all about Eddie and his current fixation. He tells you about all the stories they’ve heard about you. How cool you are. How hot you are. How you’ll talk music with him like no one else and how you give only the best recommendations.
“You know he listens to New Order now because of you?” Jeff asks with a smile. “Like, great band but Eddie listening to them? He’s got it bad.”
You reel behind the counter while the three of them nod their heads sagely at you.
“He thought you had a boyfriend.”
“What?”
“When you left the other night after the show? He thought you picked up on him trying to flirt and got upset. I told him it was because it looked like Vicky was flirting but he was convinced he fucked up.”
“I thought-“ You don’t know what you thought because it hadn’t been anything actually. You had been jealous and it seemed like it was over nothing.
“Listen, you should still come out tonight. We can talk some sense into him if you want.”
“No.”
“No?” Jeff looks impressed.
“No, I can talk to him.” You run through your daydreams and your interactions. All his dumb jokes and how he looked after his show. You think about your hallway vision and what it might feel like to press him up against that wall and press a confession out of him. “I’ll talk to him.”
You don’t dress up for The Hideout. It’s dive bar chic only but tonight?
Tonight after you run back to your place to change, you dig out your black and white polka dot dress, the one you’d bought because Cyndi Lauper had made it look so good. It’s always sat a little short in the back, the buttons never coming up far enough in the bust for your confidence level but now it’s perfect. It flutters around your thighs and while you try not to poke yourself in the eye with your liner you think about Eddie’s fingers fluttering along with it. Maybe he’d be precious about it, a stuttering mess when you finally explain it to him in clear tones just what you were trying to do.
The whole drive over you imagine what his hair must feel like sliding between your fingers, what the stubble on his jaw would feel like grazing your knuckles, and you almost run two red lights. You’ve been stockpiling courage since the bands little conversation with you but when you finally pull into the parking lot and spot his van, you have a moment of doubt.
Right until he comes into view, leaning into his driver side with his ass sticking out, and it rushes back in tenfold. He doesn’t notice you park but you notice him futzing with his lighter, sad sparks sputtering around the end of his cigarette. Your kitten heels clack on the pavement and he only looks up when you’re almost on him, your own lighter held out in your palm. “Need a light?”
Eddie freezes, hands cupped around his face. You can tell he’s fighting the urge to let his gaze roam downward and you’re really hoping he gives into it. “I didn’t know we had a dress code tonight.” He mumbles around the filter and finally has enough of a thought to drop his hands and take your lighter. It strikes on the first try but you see the slight quiver of his hands when his eyes finally drop to the deep plunge of your dress.
“Oh this old thing? I hardly wear it.” You give him a half turn, just enough to make the hem ripple and he coughs on his inhale.
“It looks good. Y-you look good.” He’s a stuttering mess. “Um, if you want the guys are already inside I was just…” Eddie trails off when you take enough steps to crowd his space and he backs into his open door. The hinges squeak under the pressure and he scrambles to grab onto the frame with his free hand.
“Eddie?” You ask sweetly and he visibly swallows. “I don’t really want to drink with the guys.” You reach over and gently pull his cigarette from his fingers, mostly out of fear he might drop it in his van.
“Oh?” He’s taking short breaths the closer you get and when you lay your hands lightly on his chest you can feel his heart going a mile a minute.
“Mhm.”
The door creaks under his white knuckles and he seems to be holding on for dear life.
“I asked you out for a drink, but this is good too.” Inched close enough that your whisper ghosts over his lips before you close that short distance. That first breath in he smells like his half a cigarette and his aftershave. When his brain finally catches up to what you’re doing he gasps against your kiss, a move that you use to your advantage. Your hands find homes behind his neck to hold him close while your tongue pushes its way past his lips and he moans into your mouth. Here he taste like the beer he’s been drinking and tobacco and you start to get lost him.
He breaks the kiss before you can deepen it, breaths huffed across your face when he drops his forehead to yours.
“Ohhh, I’m a big idiot.” He laughs out in a whisper. “A big, big fuckin’ idiot.”
“No, just a little slow on the uptake.” You can’t resists the urge to slide your fingertips into his hair and the eye roll it gets you is divine.
“I can’t believe I wasn’t picking up on this, I thought I screwed up a few weeks ago-“
“Ed.” You slide your thumb over to rest on his lips. “It’s okay, it doesn’t matter.”
“I know but-“
“I’m serious.”
“I still feel stupid-“
“Get in the van.” You cut him off when you’ve heard enough. His eyes go wide before he gives one jerky nod of his head and quiet ‘yes’ and climbs in, disappearing between the seats to the back. You give one look around the parking lot before climbing in and closing the door behind you, any modesty long gone when you have to crawl into the back and you know your dress is bunched up around your hips. In the dark it takes you a moment before you can adjust but there’s a hand wrapped around the back of your knee pulling gently to bring you down to his level. You’ve barely got his outline made out before he’s pulling you in roughly by the leg, his other hand planting hard on the nape of your neck to bring you in for a kiss.
He’s less unsure in the back of his van, moving you around to situate you where he wants you and he lets you push him back against the hard floor once you’re settled in his lap. Your hands push up his shirt while his palms run up your bare thighs, bunching up the thin cotton of your dress till he hits the high cut of your underwear. His laugh turns into a groan when you move quickly down his neck leaving wet, open mouth kisses in your wake. You push his shirt up high and let your teeth drag against his nipple, the hitching in his chest making you smile against sensitive skin. His fingers slide under the edges of your underwear to grab at the fat of your ass and you slide your own fingers under his belt to pull it open.
“Oh hey, you don’t-“
“I don’t what?” The buckle clinks against his wallet chain and it all hits the floor with a heavy thud. “I don’t have to do this?” You tug at his button while holding his gaze and pull his zipper down quick. “Do you want me to do this?” A pause after you pull his jeans open so he can answer you.
His chest heaves but he smiles wide, tongue poking out to run along his bottom lip. “Yes.” He nods at your smile and keeps nodding when you pull his jeans down his hips and when your hand edges under the waistband of his boxers and when you crawl backwards out of his grasp. “Please.” He begs on a breath he started to hold when your dress slid up your hips as you bent down to place a kiss next to his bellybutton. “Please please please.” He chants when your hand wraps firmly around him, your smile pressing into the soft part of his belly.
“Please? Please what, Eddie?” You ask between the dotting of kisses you leave along his hips and the excruciating slow drag of your hand. He squirms under you, his stare heavy on the top of your head where he watches you move further down. “Please more of this?” You roll your wrist to finally free him and the flushed pink tip of his cock glistens in the low light before it disappears in your fist. He lets out a stuttering groan and falls flat on his back to run his hands over his face harshly.
“Or please this?” The flat of your tongue runs up from the base and follows your hand, ending with a cheeky kiss at the tip. You think Eddie might be crying under his big palms with how much he’s shaking.
“Is it that?” Another long lick that pulls a deep breath out of him. You spare a glance up his body to catch him staring at you in the dark from between his fingers.
“Yes fuck-oh shit.” You spare him his grief and swallow him down, your lips meeting your fist and your tongue exploring the soft skin against it. Every ridge and vein gets attention and Eddie rolls his hips up to chase the pointed tip of your tongue. His hands finally come down from his face, no longer obscuring his view, but they hover over your head haltingly.
“You can touch me Ed.” You tell him after popping off his cock wetly. When he stalls for a moment too long your pull a hand to fall on the crown of your head and his fingers slide in automatically, hair held gently between his knuckles. His hand tenses the same as his thighs when you wrap your lips around him again, humming at the taste as he hits the back of your throat. He makes breathy noises above you that choke off when your tongue swirls to match the twist of your hand. You bury your face down until your nose hits his bush and when you swallow around him he lets a string of slurred curses go into the roof, both hands sliding into your hair to grip tight.
You come up for air and to see his face go slack, eyes hazy where he follows the string of spit still connected to your lip and the tip of his cock.
“I didn’t know this is what going for a drink meant.” He tries to crack a joke but between his unfocused eyes and the hitch in his voice you laugh for a different reason.
“I did mean a drink actually, but this is a lot more fun.” Your hand speeds up, slick sounds loud in the back of his van and his eyes roll. You like watching him loose his mind, his hair pulled at and cheeks pink from the flush that creeps up from his chest. The urge to sink your teeth in along his ribs itches at the back of your mind until you can’t ignore it anymore and you attack him, hand trapped between the two of you still working him while you nip at his side. His laugh tumbles into an almost squeal and then a low moan when the head of his cock rubs against your thigh and he ruts up into your hand to chase the heat of your skin. You notice his sudden urgency and make your way back between his knees.
“Now I know it doesn’t look like it,” you lick your palm and continue jerking him off, “but I don’t put out on the first date.”
“This is a date?” He asks dazedly.
“It can be.” You smile at him before dropping your mouth on him again, bobbing up and down quicker this time.
“Oh fuck-“ His hands grip at your hair again, trying to pull back gently at first before he’s a little more insistent. “H-hey.” He tries again and you just stare up at him and hum, tongue running over that sensitive spot under the head of his dick. He must see the grin on your face because he finally drops his head back with a thud and he’s inadvertently bucking his hips up and gasping your name.
“Fuck fuck please don’t stop.” He bargains with you and the whine at the end of his words makes your stomach flip. You can feel the dampness between your thighs, your own arousal ignored in favor of making Eddie go stupid. With him toeing the edge of oblivion and whimpering about it though you almost wish you had just fucked him, if only to chase your own end.
You get a couple of courtesy taps and a whiney ‘no wait-‘ before he finally stills, a gasp caught in his chest that finally shudders out when he comes. His big hands cradle the back of your head when you swallow around him pulsing until he’s hissing and then he’s busy pulling you up to meet him halfway for a bruising kiss.
In the afterglow you realize you’ve had your whole ass out and anyone walking by his van could have seen you through the windshield. You only get a moment of embarrassment though before he’s moving into you and pushing you into the back of his driver seat.
“Hey we can-“ He pushes his face up under your jaw and cuts you off with open mouth kisses from your ear to your shoulder sitting bare under a hanging neckline. “We can go in for that drink now if you want.” You giggle at his eagerness and his hair tickling down your dress. He hasn’t even put himself together yet and he’s already got his hands on a mission, fists pulling and bunching up the fabric of your dress.
“I don’t want to go in for a drink.” He parrots your line back to you and carefully plucks at the big button keeping the top of your dress together. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude,” He works the button open one handed and catches your eye before dipping his fingers under the thin fabric and into the cup of your bra, “and deepest apologies,” the rough pad of his fingertip grazes a sensitive nipple and you bite your lip while your lashes flutter at him, “for being the worlds most ignorant individual.” He finishes on a whisper before he kisses you, plush lips soft and seeking like his hand now slowly working its way up your inner thigh. The tip of his pinky grazes along the edge of your underwear when his tongue slides along the seam of your lips and you grant him access to everything, knees falling apart and mouth molding to his.
This may not be your little dingy hallway inside but it’s better than any work daydream you’ve had about him. He slides your underwear down and pulls at your knee, spreading you open for him to run a finger in the crease of your hip. That earns him stifled whine from you and he tuts quietly. “Don’t be quiet.” His free hand pulls the shoulder of your dress down so he can plant a kiss there. “I gotta earn my forgiveness.”
“There’s nothing to forgive, it worked out.” You press your forehead into his and grin at him, stars in both your eyes you’re sure of it.
“Yeah but we could have been doing this so much sooner.” Just the slide of his finger through your folds makes you shiver, the wet sound of you loud in the quiet. “And look at me being ignorant again.” Two fingers this time, sliding up to find that small bundle of nerves that makes your head drop back. Eddie busies himself at your neck again, chest pressed into you and pinning you in place, fingers running tight circles over your clit. “Ignoring you in need.” His tongue worries at a spot behind your ear, an attempt to get you to relax into him and he dips his fingers down to gather your slick. “Let me help you out and maybe I’ll let you buy me a beer.”
You laugh and he sinks those two fingers in to hear you gasp and he wastes no time in his search for the right angle. He starts a quick pace that makes your breath catch in your chest and those musician fingers hone in on the spot that makes your legs jump.
“Oh is that it?” He bites softly at your neck stretched out under his mouth and laughs against your heated skin when you let out a strangled ‘uh huh’.
“Right there?” He flutters his fingers over and over, your thighs twitching with every brush. The heat pools fast in your abdomen especially with him mouthing at any skin he can find. You feel like you’re melting against him, the heat trapped between you and his fingers moving ceaselessly and when he angles his hand to press his thumb onto your clit you roll into him, thighs holding his arm in place.
“That’s it.” He murmurs and it’s your turn to bury your face, mouth hung open on a silent gasp against his chest.
“Eddie, please!”
“Please what?” He uses your words against you in play. “Please this?” A deeper brush of his fingertips and he grinds his hand against you. Your groan shakes deep out of your chest and before that band snaps to send you over the edge your hand winds up in his hair to hold on. It’s a quick push when your orgasm hits and Eddie doesn’t stop, not with you pulling his hair and gasping against his chest, not until you have to pull away, lightheaded and chest heaving.
“So I think that’s a good first apology, right?” He says into your hair, hand still trapped between your thighs.
“First?”
“Yeah I mean I have at least four more to make.” He removes his hand gently and finds your ruined underwear to wipe his fingers off, all while giving you a sly side eye.
“Are they all gonna be like that?” You feel boneless in the stifling heat of his van. He shifts and pulls you with him, slotting you between his legs so you can stay laying against his chest.
“I mean, they don’t have to be.” He sighs.
“No, no I like these kind of apologies.” You giggle against him and he pulls the hem of your dress down back over your hips. “Just maybe not always in the back of a van?”
“Oh no, I’ve got all kinds of places in mind. I Can say sorry in that little hallways inside,” your eyes go wide in the dark where he can’t see, “I’m sure you have a back room at work I can sneak into.”
“Oh my boss will love that.”
“Shit, I can find a corner in the garage no one uses, really the possibilities are endless.”
You know someone has to have noticed Eddie being gone for so long and you expect a tap on a window any minute but for now you stay tucked up against him. You’ll buy him his drink when his friends discover his fogged over van.

—bringing y’all a little fluff from chris doesn’t come back au today 😌
“Why’re you here?” Buck asked, taking Eddie by surprise.
“I can leave if you want me too, just figured you wanted help getting re-dressed.”
Buck frowned before shaking his head. “No not-not that. I mean here as in—here,” Buck said, emphasizing as he pointed down to his injured leg. “Why do you keep helping me, taking-taking care of me?”
It was Eddie who frowned then.
“I thought it was obvious.”
When that didn’t seem like the answer Buck was looking for either, Eddie continued on.
“Buck, you’re my best friend, of course I want to help you. You do so much for me and Christopher, and—well there isn’t anywhere I’d rather be.”
Buck thought it over for a minute. “Yea but, wouldn’t you—I dunno, don’t you have better things to do with your time?” He looked toward the ground then, avoiding Eddie’s gaze.
Eddie shrugged. “Not really. Chris is at school and the oblivious idiot I wanna call my boyfriend is standing right in front of me.”
Blues met him in an instant, Buck’s eyes wider than Eddie ever remembered seeing them before.
“I—you what?”
Eddie shook with head with a fond, yet exasperated eyeroll.

Headcanon: I guess post-BPS, Eddy would be really depressed and in a indetity crisis for at very least two weeks (it's too much of a drastic change to him), Edd would do his best to be a sensitive, empathetic friend and help him out while struggling with his own flaws and his bitchy side (I figure they would stop bickering SO THAT MUCH after BPS, at least for a while). tbh I guess Ed would be too happy making friends with the kids or rebulting a sibling relationship with Sarah to notice for some while (He always had been somewhat oblivious to the others' problems, and I figure him being the most popular, beloved, accepted one post-BPS).
What do you think?
Oh yes let’s talk about it! I could see quite a lot of what you’ve mentioned happening for sure. I’m just gonna go into more detail because I can’t help myself and you asked so…
BPS obviously is meant to be THE groundbreaking moment for Eddy’s character. So let’s get into it.
Eddy is a survivor of abuse. And a fighter. He’s got a little of that Childhood Trauma™️ and it does in fact “build [his] character”. See what I did there? Anyway, the point is that just because Eddy has this major turning point, his trauma isn’t going anywhere overnight.
Rachel Connor, one of the writers of the movie who worked specifically on the scenes with Bro, wrote a post where she described Eddy as the Great Pretender which… BIG OOF! As the show progresses Eddy loses sight of who he is more and more as he digs himself deeper into the Bro hole: emulating him more, wanting to impress him more, lying about him more (or perpetuating lies. Who knows!). The whole Great Pretender act isn’t exactly fulfilling. It’s putting more stress on his actual friendships with his pals. His depression in the 5th season (@book-o-scams has written about this) feels like a result of all this.
So when Eddy’s scam goes so horribly wrong that he and his friends are run out of PC, he almost loses Edd’s friendship, only to get publicly abused by his big bro, Eddy is faced with the reality of the person he could become. And that’s when he knows it has to end. This epiphany should be liberating for him in some ways but also sets off a whole self discovery journey. Of course he’d feel a little lost at the start, trying out lots of different versions of himself, before ultimately embracing his multifaceted self into adulthood. Aren’t we all a little lost in our teen years?
After all he’s been through with his brother, the guy has major trust issues. It's clear that Eddy is anxious to belong and be popular, but attempting to fleece the other kids for quarters at every turn isn’t exactly the best way of making friends (except that it’s a bonding activity with the other Eds). And that feels intentional whether he’s conscious of it or not, that what he’s really after is status instead of acceptance. Because if he doesn’t get too close with others he can’t get hurt. Trust issues are really hard to shake. That’s always going to impact his relationships and specifically his interactions with the other kids immediately following the events of BPS. It’s going to take him years to work through that. And I think he will, with time, get better at trusting and getting close to others.
My interpretation is that Eddy would be pretty bummed and depressed for a while despite all the new acceptance from his other peers, just because he’s having to analyze his own behavior more, question his relationship with his bro, with his family at large, with his best friends, with everyone else around him. I often add a layer of him struggling with the realization he might be gay during the year or two following the events of BPS, and that's not the easiest pill for him to swallow either. I think he’d still put up walls to protect himself and try to find ways to be liked and accepted, to be entertaining or prove himself. I don’t see him immediately being as outgoing with the other cul-se-sac kids as he is within the Eds, but I think at his core he is actually a cool and interesting guy and that comes through. On the flip side, I think he’d mostly work on being more honest and vulnerable with Edd and Ed in the months and years following which just strengthens their bonds more and together they learn to be better people to each other! Woohoo!
We’re moving on: Edd. BPS is a trial of his friendship with Eddy and they came out the other side much more sympathetic to one another. The tension that grows between them during the series run is as much a result of Eddy’s desperation as it is a result of Edd’s anxiety getting way worse. So yes, where I do see Edd helping Eddy through some of his depression following BPS, I also see Eddy helping ground Edd with some of his own issues that are percolating to the surface more. Just two little emo outcasts being there for eachother. Couldn’t be a recipe for a little gay awakening. No chance. (I’m being sarcastic, y’all. You know my schtick). I still think they’d bicker, though. Like a lot. It’s just core to their personalities. Fights just wouldn’t come to blows in the same way. It’s a lot harder to stay mad when you can see the clearly labeled buttons you’re pushing, you know?
Outside of his relationship to Eddy, Edd also seems to be shifting away from being blindly obedient towards authority like in the series. Nothing like seeing a man-child beat on an actual child to really wreck your world view. Up until that point, Edd is a textbook rule follower. I think there is an interesting perspective shift, seeing the world as Eddy has, that will shake his idealism and optimism ever so slightly. Thus starting a tiny little rebellious streak. Again, can’t reiterate enough that turning 13 is such a bitch. The mental toil.
Ed. Oh, Ed. Ed kinda has his whole thing figured out already. I sometimes describe Ed’s heroic act in BPS as him getting his brain back a bit after the school season episodes. I think the kid just dissociates especially hard when he is at school which makes him seem extra random in these episodes. We all gotta cope somehow. Anyway, I do also weirdly think Ed would get on with the other cul-de-sac kids pretty well on his own: he already has decent rapport with the likes of Jonny and Rolf so it would be interesting to see these relationships explored more. In the show he already seems the floater type. Maybe Ed becomes Jonny’s only friend when he becomes the new “outcast” of the cul-de-sac.
I think his consistency is really going to help Edd and Eddy through whatever ups and downs they go through. He’s the type to lighten the mood or give a sympathetic ear or listen to a rant without judgment. He has and always will accept them just as they are, and himself just as he is, and that does wonders for the group’s morale. Also, with Eddy dialing back on the Bro act I can see Ed also being kinder (he’s often feeding off the bad examples) and really embracing the surrogate big brother role for Eddy. I’d love for that relationship to be strengthened more too, and Ed to come to his defense and protection more readily in the way he does with Sarah. At first it would probably annoy Eddy to no end but he’d reluctantly get over it because deep down it feels good to be cared for. Soft like mashed potatoes indeed.
More than Ed rebuilding the relationship with Sarah is Sarah sticking up for her brother to her parents. I think she’d definitely come around to recognizing she’s abused her privileges as the favorite child and also grateful that her brother didn’t turn out That Bad considering. While she’s mending things with Ed I think she’d still take out her younger sibling rage on Eddy (I like to think she sees him as a bonus brother she never asked for). I don’t think they necessarily hate each other or anything, they just have that energy of two scrappy alley cats who have to hiss and swat before parting ways.

I saw you're taking prompts and tagged it as Clarkson so ngl i immediately went feral bc i love your writing so much!!! Anything clarkson would make me sooo happy, but i especially love the way you write more introspective scenes so maybe something with soft vibes, maybe some hurt/comfort or healing from past trauma together? (I hope that's not too vague, if you were looking for actual scene prompts I'd be happy to come up with something more specific) i hope you'l have a good weekend ❤️❤️
thank you so much for the prompt darling! here’s some clarkson hurt/comfort for you with just a dash of steddie because i particularly love these four together 🥰🤍 this kinda ran away from me and it’s probably all over the place
in which wayne has a flashback nightmare and scott calls eddie and steve for help
🤍 also on ao3
It’s a whimper that wakes Scott, and it takes him a moment to realise where he is — but the dark shadow of Wayne sitting up in bed beside him reassures him for a moment. A dream, surely. His dream woke him, even though he doesn’t remember anything.
But then there’s another whimper, followed by what can only be described as a sniffle. It breaks something inside Scott even before he realises what’s happening. As his eyes adjust to the dark, he makes out Wayne’s form where he’s hunched over, the blanket still around him like a protective shield, his face hidden in his hands. His breathing is unsteady, more like little gasps, suppressed in the pale shadow of a breathing exercise.
He’s never seen Wayne like this. He gets nightmares quite frequently, but he usually gets up for some fresh air and a cigarette, maybe a coffee if he decides to give up on the night. But never before has Scott witnessed him in such a state that screams of heartache and badly suppressed panic.
It’s a lonely vision that tears apart his insides, and it’s what makes him reach out before he can think better of it. Wayne flinches away from him and gasps as another wave of years seems to come over him.
“You’re safe,” is the first thing Scott says, the first thing that comes to mind, the first thing Wayne needs him to say sometimes.
Tonight, though, it only elicits another whimper.
“What do you need?“ he whispers. Not What’s wrong? Not Talk to me.
It takes Wayne a few attempts and Scott watches, panic threatening to rise inside him and join Wayne if only so he won’t have to be alone — as little sense as that makes. The last thing Wayne needs right now is a frantic Scott. So he breathes. Watches as Wayne struggles through his words and the lump in his throat.
“Eddie,” he gasps eventually. “Ed, tell me… Where’s Eddie? I should have— He didn’t do it. He didn’t kill the girl. I should have been there, I should have… I’m sorry, Ed.”
It tears Scott apart to see him like this, lost and stuck somewhere between the nightmare in his head and the nightmares of the past, and there’s nothing Scott can do about it. He remembers it well, though he has the privilege of being oblivious to everything, the privilege of no nightmares, the privilege of staying present and alert when a light flickers or a police car drives past.
“He’s okay, Wayne. It was a nightmare, my dear. Eddie is fine. Your nephew is at Steve’s. Steve Harrington. It’s been a year, Wayne, beloved. It’s been a year, he is doing great. Come back to me, darling. It’s fine, there’s no nightmare here, just me. Just me, Wayne. It’s safe, everyone’s safe. I promise.”
Another whimper and then Wayne hunches over even more. Helplessness spreads inside Scott, feeling like surely this is his nightmare now. Grief and guilt and panic and sadness are coming off Wayne in waves, and it chokes him up. He’s not good at this, placating people, talking them down. He never quite knows what to say, what to do, what to make with his voice.
An idea comes to him then, and he hopes that the boys will forgive him for calling at… 3:28 a.m.
He gets out of bed and whispers, “Don’t leave again, my love, I’ll be right back. It’s safe, I promise, it’s safe.”
Wayne doesn’t react and Scott has to physically keep himself from reaching for him again. His pulse is quicker than it should be, his thoughts are racing, and he really is beginning to be quite frantic. Taking a deep breath, he goes out into the living are, making sure to leave the door open so Wayne can hear him — and so he can hear him.
“Steve here,” comes a very familiar voice through the phone after just one ring, and Scott breathes a sigh of relief.
“Steve, it’s Scott. I’m terrible sorry to wake you, but—“
“You didn’t, we’re awake. What’s wrong?”
Scott closes his eyes and wills his heart to calm down. Everything’s going to be fine. “It’s Wayne, he’s… He had a nightmare, I think. About Eddie. Thinks it’s ‘86 again and Eddie is missing, presumed dead, and I can’t get him… I can’t get through to him.”
There’s some shuffling on the other end and then there’s another voice talking to him. “We’ll be there in twenty minutes, Mr Clarke.”
“Ten.” That’s Steve in the background.
“Ten minutes,” Eddie amends, and Scott kind of wants to cry. It doesn’t make sense. But neither does anything that happened to these people, so he’ll cut himself some slack. “Do you… Can you, uh, can you put on some music? Quiet, just to, uh, to bring him back? There’s this tape, Aftermath by the Stones. Rolling Stones. It’s black with blue writing and all their faces, it should be there somewhere. We used to listen to it every night after… everything. It should be enough until we’re there, okay?”
“Yeah,” he nods, already looking around for a black tape. “Yeah, I’ll find it. Thanks, boys, I don’t— I didn’t know what to do.”
More shuffling, then Steve is back again. “You did right, calling us. We’ll be there. Oh, and can you make coffee?”
He frowns. “Do you really think it’s a good idea for him to—“
“Oh, the coffee is for us. It’s gonna be a long night. Already has been.” He sounds weary and tired and Scott has to remind himself that the boy is only twenty and shouldn’t sound like that.
“Alright, coffee coming right up.”
“Thanks. We’ll, uh, we’ll leave now.” Steve says, sounding rushed. “Eddie, babe, I’m gonna need you to be calm, okay? Everyone’s safe, it’s gonna be fi—“
And then the line dies. Scott takes a second to listen to the incessant peep of the dial tone, gathering himself, before going on the mission of finding the tape and making coffee before returning into the bedroom just to be there even though he feels useless.
Eight minutes later, a car pulls up outside and Scott sighs in relief. Wayne is leaning against him now, still not talking, still crying silently, absently, but he’s coming back.
Within moments, another shadow appears in the doorway to the bedroom and Scott looks up to see a rather crazed looking Eddie. He can empathise.
“Hey, uncle Wayne,” the kid says in so gentle a voice that it makes Scott feel out of place. “Guess who it is, your favourite nephew in the whole wide world, who is very alive and extremely safe.” It’s said with a smile, but the teasing falls flat right along with Eddie’s heart, obvious in the way his voice wavers. There’s a shaky smile on Eddie’s face as he sits on the bed, taking Scott’s place, who takes this moment to leave the Munson men alone. Eddie’s pressing his forehead to Wayne’s, cradling his cheeks and speaking softly, gently, tenderly.
Scott almost flees the room. He’s too out of place in their moment.
He closes the bedroom door gently and a silently as he can, and is met with The Rolling Stones and Steve, cup of coffee already in his hand. They share a glance and it occurs to Scott that this is the closest he’s ever come to whatever trauma lies behind this boy’s eyes, the one that is reflected in Eddie’s and in the shadow that overcomes Wayne’s face sometimes.
“Hello,” he says at last, because what do you even say to someone who’s seen horrors unimaginable, leaning against the kitchen counter with a mug of coffee like that’s just life catching up around 4am.
Steve smiles and hands over the coffee he already prepared for Scott — black, two sugars. Oddly enough, that’s what does it for him. The alienation and obliviousness on the one hand, juxtaposed by and met with a gesture so simple as a cup of coffee just the way he likes it.
His shoulders fall and he joins Steve, who shuffles over a bit to make space for him.
“It’s been a year,” Steve says.
Scott looks at him, waiting for him to continue — something he’s learned around these three. They’ll continue or they won’t, but questions don’t really work. Not with this thing.
“Since… Since Chrissy. Few days later, Eddie almost died. Was presumed dead. It’s. It’s been a year, today. Tonight.” The boy sighs and Scott finds his insides torn apart once more.
“Is that why you were awake? The anniversary keep you up?”
Steve nods, his eyes somewhere far away as he takes another sip of his coffee. Into his mug he mutters something Scott is sure isn’t meant for his ears, but he can’t help but overhear something that will haunt him for a while.
“It’s always some kind of anniversary ‘round here.”
The thing is, Steve told him. Well, he and Eddie did, but the Munson boy’s mind had shut off from the conversation quickly, and Steve is the only one who can tell the story from the beginning. And Scott is not sure if he can believe it. He wants to, and emotionally, he does. But he has to treat it as a story, otherwise his mind would quickly join those lost.
“I’m really sorry.” He doesn’t know what for. For calling. For the horrors they’ve seen. For the nightmares everyone gets. For the faraway stare in Steve’s eyes. For the waver in Eddie’s voice.
Steve looks at him for a moment, then nods towards the front door. “Let’s go outside for a moment, yeah?”
Scott hesitates, looking back toward the still closed bedroom door, before giving in with a sigh. Nothing he can do. Eddie is better at this than him anyway.
The fresh air helps and he breathes a little easier. Steve smiles when he notices, leaning against the wall behind him. He’s always been a smart one, that boy, much better at the matters of heart than those of science, unfortunately, but Scott appreciates it now.
“Listen, half of Hawkins calls me in the middle of the night sometimes,” Steve continues. “Tonight it’s Wayne, last week it was Dustin. Woke up from a nightmare, needing to talk to Eddie. Robin spends every other night at my house because when she wakes, she won’t remember immediately if I’m still there.”
Steve sighs and shakes his head, meeting Scott’s eyes with an almost helpless look. Resignation, he thinks. The aftermath of terrible things are still terrible things.
“You call, okay? Whatever it is, whatever you or Wayne need. Whatever the clock says, whatever… Call. Like you did tonight. Sometimes that’s all we can do. You did the right thing.”
It doesn’t feel like the right thing when it makes the circles under Steve’s eyes so dark or his shoulders slump so much.
“You shouldn’t have to do that.”
The boy scoffs, looking up at the night sky. “Yeah, well, it’s a bit late for that. Besides, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for this man.” Their eyes meet again. “He’ll be fine.”
They talk more and Steve asks him a lot of questions, wanting to know how Scott’s doing with all this, with the trauma, the nightmares, this thing that haunts everyone but him.
“I don’t understand it,” he admits at some point. “How could I? But I understand the implications, I see the way the three of you and some kids at school behave, I see the haunted looks, and all I can do is be here. So I’m here.”
Steve hums. “Yeah, that’s what we do.”
Scott anticipates more questions or some kind of reaction; but then the front door opens and a tired, teary-eyed Eddie steps outside. He immediately goes to wrap himself around Steve, leaning against him, trusting that the wall will hold both of them.
Steve doesn’t move, just wraps his arms around Eddie, carefully balancing the coffee behind his back.
“You okay?” he whispers.
Eddie shakes his head, burrowing into him further, and Steve brushes fluttering kisses all over the side of his face. Scott doesn’t mean to watch them, but seeing them so affectionate, so comforting, it wakes an ache inside him. Something that’s buried deep inside him, because as much as he loves to hold Wayne or brush a kiss to his lips, his cheek, his forehead, he’s never felt quite brave enough to do just that. Only that. The way Steve and Eddie are doing right now.
There are too many years behind him, the weight on his chest too heavy, his feet never as stable and steady as he wishes for them to be. Being affectionate with a man, with Wayne, is something that still leaves him reeling sometimes. Wrong-footed, with nowhere to find out, no one to ask.
But watching the boys, it makes him brave. Gives him something to mirror, something to copy, something to learn and teach himself.
Swallowing, he heads back inside, needing to look out for Wayne, to see if he’s fine, to reassure himself that everything is as alright as it can be.
In the living room, Wayne looks up immediately and his face crumbles a little at whatever he sees on Scott’s face, his arms lifting as if asking for a hug. It’s not a gesture he’d ever have connected with Wayne, but that doesn’t matter when it’s past four in the morning and the kitchen smells like coffee and nightmares.
He hugs his man tightly, cradling the back of his head gently.
“Don’t apologise,” he whispers into Wayne’s neck. “Just don’t.”
“Okay,” his love whispers back. “I will tomorrow, though.”
“That’s fine,” Scott says, smiling and feeling his eyes begin to sting. He holds Wayne a bit tighter. “Are you feeling okay?”
After hesitating a moment too long, Wayne shakes his head no. “Better though. Don’t, uh. Don’t let go?”
“Never.”
Moments of silence pass like that, just standing there, holding each other. Bravery in the early morning hours.
“Thanks for calling my boys,” Wayne breaks the silence after a while.
“Of course,” Scott whispers, daring to brush a kiss to Wayne’s brow. Remembering the way Steve held Eddie and showered him in affection, Scott dares. He dares to follow that kiss up with another, to his temple this time, and another to his forehead. They’re nothing like the quick butterfly kisses he just witnessed, no. They’re slow. Hesitant in their approach and determined in their message.
I’m here. You’re here. We’re safe.
Wayne doesn’t move, but Scott can feel his breath hitch a little. It makes him smile. He pulls back a little, pressing their foreheads together.
“Thank you,” Wayne whispers.
“For what?”
“Bein’ here. Staying. Everything.”
“I’ll stay as long as you’ll have me.”
And he means it. Through the nightmares, through the haunted silences, through spontaneous trips to see Eddie, through late night phone calls to make sure the present is unchanged. Through it all, he will stay. He will learn how to make Wayne smile after a nightmare just like he’ll learn how to make his coffee after work. He’ll learn about his relationship with Eddie just like he’ll learn about the way he prefers his sandwiches or his favourite songs and movies.
He’ll learn. It’s the thing he does best. And he’ll be patient, he’ll grow braver by the day.
Right now, though, he only holds his man and dares to move his thumb along his cheek in a gentle caress, feeling the stubble under his fingertips like his own personal reminder that everything will be just fine.
Steve and Eddie stay the night, Eddie sharing the bed with Wayne while Scott takes the couch and Steve stays awake. Scott wants to protest but Steve shuts him off with a smile and the promise that he’ll wake him if anything changes.
It must be another terrible thing, the way this boy puts himself last — but that’s something Scott can learn another day. Right now, he listens for the gentle laughter coming from the bedroom, the door cracked open, and smiles when Wayne lets out an exasperated, “Fredward Munson, it’s five o’clock in the morning, for the love of God, shut the fuck up and let me sleep.”
Eddie cackles and answers something Scott can’t quite make out. Soon after, silence settles over the trailer and Scott falls asleep, feeling oddly safe with Steve watching over them, as though it’s his personal mission to fend off the nightmares himself.
He makes a mental note to make the boy more coffee in the morning.

32 from handholding, 33 from hugs, 48 from kisses, or 44 from touching if it inspires (mwah mwah mwah mwah)
truly this prompt haunted me until i wrote my 6x11 coda with it plus i was just so grateful to get one from you my beloved bestie so :') here you go!!!!! i managed to get like three out of four of these in here
born with a weak heart
[7.4k words] [rated: teen and up] [post-6x11 coda] [featuring deranged touch-starved buck, so much hand-holding, and more!]
It takes Buck longer than it should to notice. Which - okay, sure, he’s oblivious about certain things even on the best of days, and he got struck by lightning less than a month ago, so maybe he should give himself a break. But still, it feels like something he should have noticed, so he ends up feeling pretty stupid for not noticing.
Since Buck woke up in the hospital, Eddie’s stopped touching him.
It sounds melodramatic when he puts it like that. Honestly, though, Buck is feeling pretty fucking melodramatic about it. If he really processes it, sits with it and admits it to himself, it makes him want to go lay down in the rain somewhere and maybe never get up again. And that, that is just ridiculous, and Buck knows it. He’s an adult, and he should be past that, right? He’s still seeing Eddie at the hospital and at home, and soon he’ll be back to seeing Eddie at work, too. They’re spending time together, Eddie laughs at his stupid struck by lightning jokes, nothing really feels that different in their day to day, so Buck shouldn’t feel so insane about it.

More Dano please! I need some chubby riddler stuff so bad!
New Clothes (Chubby! Edward Nashton x Reader)
Reader surprises Edward with new clothes
YESYESYES CHUBBY RIDDLER MY BELOVED <33 I GET SO EXCITED WRITING HIM
Warning: Some body insecurity on Eddie's end, but it shouldn't be much
While Edward did give you a spare key to his apartment, he never expected you to use it as often as you did. Especially when it came to you making yourself home when he wasn't there. It defeated the action's original purpose of getting you to spend more time with him, but your presence was never unwanted.
But today was different as Edward walked through the door. He shrugged off his one-size-too-big jacket, placing it on a nearby cluttered desk, and made a beeline to your arms. He soon noticed bags decorating his already messy floors. "What's this?" Your boyfriend questioned, peering over your shoulder to take a better look at the plastic bags. He could tell that they were from a popular clothing store in Gotham, but Edward never bothered going before. The clothes in this city were always too expensive and it's not like they carried his sizes anyway.
You backed away with a smile, "I was out shopping today and I wanted to get you a few things.." Soon you pulled out a couple of shirts from one bag, both shirts: One a basic dark green T-Shirt and the other a white dress shirt. "I know you get a lot of stuff second hand, but I wanted to get you newer and less baggy. Something that's yours and yours only." You gave him another bag full of clothes as you rambled, "A lot of it are work clothes, I think you deserve to look nice at the office and whatnot."
Edward's face was so warm he was sure his glasses would be steaming anytime soon. It's painfully easy to fluster him, but you spending money on him really did it for him. As soon as the adoration kicked in, so did the anxiety and insecurities.
Are you sure they'd fit him? You spent all this money on him and what if it all goes to waste? Sure he could pay you back, but oh nothing would be more embarrassing than this.
Your smile quickly disappeared among Edward's silence, "Are you okay, Eddie?" The man in question only looked at you hesitantly before speaking up, "Yeah, I'm just worried that these aren't going to fit. It's hard to find something my size around here and I'm not sure about this." You gently held Edward's hands and gave him a kiss, "I kept the receipt just in case. You have nothing to worry about, I promise you. You'll look handsome as ever."
It was hard for Eddie to doubt you when you talked to him like that.
You sat on your lover's bed as he turned around to change. It was something to get used to as his place didn't have much room to get ready for the day. As he was oblivious, you took the time to admire his form. He was soft in all sense of the word: his arms were big, both the fat and muscle tissue acting as your favorite pillows; his back adored itself with moles and the occasional patch of acne. It was hard for Edward to understand why you liked them so much, but it you always told him it was because it made him look human. It'd be hard to trust anyone without flaws anyways.
Soon enough, Edward spun around to face you, his brows furrowed in uncertainty. While the clothes fit and were comfortable, he wasn't used to something that wasn't baggy. At the local thrift store they had anything, included sizes big enough to hide in. It's hard to adapt at times when he doesn't have that option. As you looked at him in a white button up, it was difficult to not swoon over him.
Everything looked so right. It accentuated his curves just the way you thought it would. Your mouth slipped before you could stop it, "Oh Eddie you look so handsome." The man in question felt the familiar heat creep up his neck once more. "Really..? It's not too tight, isn't it?" You shook your head and immediately got up to wrap your arms around him. "Not at all...you look so good, I'm starting to wish I did this for you sooner."
Edward felt like mush in your grasp as he quickly went in with a kiss. Never before he felt like he's been so appreciate and adored. He'd try on anything you ask of him if it meant he got this attention from you again.

Liar Liar (Pants on Fire)
Pairings: Eddie Munson X F! Reader Warnings: SMUT, Minors DNI, 18+, porn without plot tbh, P in V penetration, oral (f!recieving), fingering, use of pet names Author’s Note: I’m really horny today, literally might go find a tinder date just for a shag. In the meantime, have this! Also, I tried to write this to be as inclusive as possible but please let me know how I can be better!
Summary:  Don't lie to Eddie, baby. Or do, It might just work out in your favour
Tumblr media
Neither of you remembered how it started this time, but neither of you particularly cared much either. The humidity of Eddie’s trailer encouraging you as you pulled your clothes off, and tumbled into bed.
The knot in Eddie's stomach tightened as his balls slapped rhythmically against your cunt. Skilled hands reached blindly around your stomach to toy at your clit as he ploughed you like a steam train without any brakes. His thighs were red raw from the collision of skin between him and your ass cheeks. But he didn’t mind, he was close, and hearing your sweet moans like nectar was pushing him over the edge.
Your face, though buried in a pillow, twisted in delight as you felt your end nearing. Eddie’s hand swapped place from your clit to instead pinch softly at your nipples. Pulling your body up and against his chest, he angled you to face the mirror opposite his bed. The perfect empty spot between his beloved guitar, and metal band posters. He peered over your shoulder and into the reflection of the mirror.
“God damn’ he moaned, nose pressed to your neck as he looked forward through his eyelashes. “You smell so good”
Eddie’s spare hand slid back down to your swollen bundle of nerves, circling just in the way you liked. Your arms up, pulling at the hair on top of his head. “Don’t stop, Eddie”
The build-up continued, the hastened but sloppy sounds of your skin hitting Eddie’s; the steady rubbing of your clit as he tweaked your nipple; his grunted moans in your ear, right where you wanted them. Needed them.
It was coming, nearing. You were close, so close. Close to the point that you’d reached your limit. Almost ready to explode over the edge, throwing yourself back onto Eddie’s thrusts. It was coming. It was near. Nearer, here, HERE, Oh My God!-
Gone.
Eddie pulled out quickly, knocking you over to shoot his load onto your back. His hips stuttered and jolted, coming down for his high quickly. Lips between his teeth as he came onto your ass. His eyes not once leaving yours in the mirror.
Eddie was always quick to clean you up after a round, desperate to pull you into a cuddle and have a quick nap. It was something you loved about him. He wanted you to stay. Yet, you couldn't help but wish, that just once. Just this once. He would flip you over and have his way with you, for a round two.
Wiping your back with a random rag from his floor, Eddie slid the pair of you under his covers. In his hands: a clean t-shirt ready for you to wear. You pulled it over your head and turned to face the wall. Hands clasped between your thighs, you rocked slightly. Craving any sort of friction,  something to relieve you from the agony of this ruined orgasm.
“Holy shit, baby” Eddie exclaimed, laying on his back and pulling fresh underwear on. Cock still sprouted in a semi, he palmed himself gently, “that was great.”
You just nod quietly in agreement. It was great, it was perfect, just until it wasn't.
Something was wrong, Eddie clocked, turning a head of messy curls to meet you. Turned away from him and grinding gently. “Y/N” he called, watching you with round eyes. “You okay?”
To give him his dues, Eddie was also fairly observant, and seldom oblivious when it came to your feelings. It may take him a while to recognise, but he could always tell when something was up.
“Did you cum?” he asked, bluntly. Your hips stopped their rocking movement.
There were two ways you could answer. You could be honest, tell him that you were almost there. Or you could lie. Spare his feelings, sort yourself later.
You chose the latter: “Yeah baby, I did”
“Liar.”
Quick to call your bluff, Eddie was. Eyeing your back as he turned his body to face you. Hands snaking down your sides and to your thighs, where your own hands were pressed to your warm folds.
“I’ll ask you one more time” he states, nipping at your shoulder with his teeth. “Did you cum?”
Big brown eyes caught yours as the pair of you rolled over. Eddie sat upright as he placed you facing him on his lap, legs on either side of his pale thighs. You shook your head no, in reference to his earlier question.
No words were exchanged as Eddie kissed you passionately. Laying you back on the bed with your legs wide open. The sight of your glistening pussy lips and peaked nipples through his ‘Judas Priest’ T-shirt, almost too much for him to bare.
“Please do something Eddie” you begged, fighting against his grip to close your knees. Desperate for the pressure betwixt your legs to be alleviated.
He spent no time positioning himself front down and between your legs, tongue lapping at your folds ferociously. A skilled tongue licking a long stripe from your perineum to your clit. Almost achingly slow, you beg for a bit more haste. Eddie is eager to comply.
Taking his right hand, he wraps an arm around your thigh, spreading you as far as he could. The other hand presses a finger to your hole, teasing gently before sliding the whole way in. Eddie spits on your sex, knowing it drove you wild. He knew exactly what to do to get you to that desired place, and boy was he going to do it tenfold.
He added a second finger before curling them upwards as he thrust his hand into you. Fingers in your pussy up to his knuckle, he pounds you methodically. He watches as your juices covered his rings, How much he wanted to lick them clean. Mouth coming down to join his hands over the tingling bundle of nerves. Eddie licks and sucks you as you writhe beneath him. Forcing him to use his free hand to keep you still, and pinned to the bed.
“Mhmm” He groaned, his own hips rutting into the mattress as you squeal in delight.
His eyes peered up at your screwed face. Over the curve of your belly, and through the valley of your breasts, where they've separated. The perfect view of you coming undone for him. You writhed from the stimulation. His curls stuck to the sides of your thighs, wet with his sweat and your wetness, as he ate you like a starved man. Fingers still pumping in and out.
And the feeling was back, but this time here to stay. Legs shaking as if you were being exorcised, and with the rolled eyes to match. “Fuck, Eddie” you almost scream, grinding into his fingers and mouth. “I’m close”
“Let it go baby girl,” he pleads through swipes of his tongue, “Cum on my lips, On my fingers”
And so you did, muscles contracting, legs numbing, as Eddie tipped you over the edge and into a pile of golden ecstasy. Yet better than any drug you’d tried, or any time you’ve cum before.
Eddie kisses you, lips warm with your slick as you taste yourself on his tongue, “did you cum then?” he asks, sly smile and a cheeky glint in his eye. He knew the truth, he just wanted to hear you say it.
“Did you?” you tease, motioning down to the new wet patch of his white briefs. Specifically placed at the head of his cherry red cock. Kissing him once more.

Soft!Yandere Edward and reader being roommates and him having a crush on them but being to nervous to act on it (for now) and he probably watche's them sleep?
A/N: WhYyY haven’t I done a roommate Eddie fic yet?!! Here you go 😏💚
Pairing: Dano!Riddler x reader (The Batman 2022)
Warnings: Obsessive stalking behaviour, simp Edward Nashton
Words: 473
Tumblr media
“Beautiful…”
Edward’s eyes are wide behind his glasses, crazed with yearning for someone that’s laying so peaceful only a few feet away. His voice is a shaky whisper, and he covers his mouth with a hand to muffle a breathless, mad giggle.
Your room’s shadowed with the typical thick darkness of Gotham’s nights, only the dim, hazy glow of the fairy lights strung up on your bed frame illuminating your face, the soft glow making you look purely angelic as you sleep soundly, oblivious to your roommate’s hungry stare.
Edward has to pace himself for a moment, leaning briefly against the doorframe as he tears his eyes away from your face to the ground, before looking back up again. He expertly eases himself further into your room from the doorway, footsteps practically nonexistent over the carpeting, and Edward stops in awareness when he gets to the end of your bed, crouching down to look at you up close.
Why is this so hard?! He’s never had any problems talking to people before - not that he particularly wanted to - but it’s different with you. How does one approach an angel? Hell, he’s living under the same roof as you, so there are plenty of opportunities to tell you. To tell you that you’re his love, his light, his angel in a city of misery and pain.
But Edward just can’t. You’re too powerful, innocently so. You don’t even know what you’re doing to him, but that somehow makes it even better. For now, though, all he’ll do is watch and wait, until he knows it’s the perfect time to show and tell. You’re always so sweet to him. You must be even sweeter when that happens too, right?
Edward’s simply mesmerised as he stares at you in a lovesick trance, mouth open slightly and a dopey, longing smile on his face. He has to clench his hands in his lap to stop them from trembling at the thoughts of the near future; of you waking up drowsily to him watching you just like this, but beside you, where he’s meant to be, in the bed too.
You’d smile tiredly and lift a hand up to ruffle his sandy brown locks like you do when you joke around with him so cutely now and again, and pull him back down to sleep with you, out like a light within seconds of being in his snug embrace.
Edward shudders lightly and holds back a whimper as you stir in your sleep, relaxing as you lay a little differently, still asleep. He stumbles to his feet, backing away in a steady pace before his hands reach the door. Edward gives you one last adoring gaze, smiling at you hopefully.
“I’ll be back,” he promises quietly, before leaving the room, but never for the last time.
