“You walk into the room and I go quiet
I catch your eyes and don’t blink an eyelid
Feels like the world locked us on an island
An island without waves”
Also just to clarify, mostly cause I don’t know how okayish my storytelling skills are, but the middle panel is basically Violet taking in Seven appearance up close after years of not seeing him(small panels) and then remembering the past(big panel underneath).
Like always, amazing story and characters are from @infamous-if, go read it!

Being in a situationship with Rafe Cameron is just about the most frustrating thing that Y/N Y/L/N has ever done. And that says something because she works part-time at a daycare during the semester. Although, she could equate Rafe to a toddler. He doesn’t understand the meaning of the word no. He doesn’t like to share, but he expects other people to share their things with him. He doesn’t do a great job of hiding his emotions. He is clingy, only in secret when it is just the two of him cuddled under the sheets. He isn’t like most hookups Y/N has had. Once they finish their passionate activities, he wants to stay in bed and cuddle. He wants to make her a bath for aftercare and talk about their day. He wants to act like they are just an ordinary couple who just finished a night of lovemaking. He liked to consider them exclusive. The catch is that he only acted that way in the privacy of one of their bedrooms. It doesn’t even extend to the rest of their houses. Y/N wouldn’t find herself being cuddled on a couch in a living room with Rafe because, according to him, it is a hard no.
This is why she finds herself watching as Rafe lets a blonde grind her ass into his clothed cock. He didn’t even give a glance in her direction. Seeing him with other girls always makes Y/N wonder if he was the same way with all of his one-night stands. Does he like to cuddle them? Does he run them a bath and ask them what their favourite part of the day is? Y/N couldn’t stand to watch the scene anymore, so she left the party with a shake of her head. She wouldn’t let him keep playing this game of tug of war on what to label themselves. And she has a plan to get him to pull the trigger on admitting who they are to each other.
——
YN sits at her vanity getting ready with the help of her friends. As she does her makeup, Mable is giving volume to her curtain bangs to emulate the 70s style she is trying to achieve in her outfit. She found a brown patterned silk scarf shirt at the thrift shop, which she pairs with a black jean skirt and brown knee-high heeled boots. Everyone finished getting ready and it was time to add the finishing touches to their outfit that Y/N had bought thanks to TikTok. She hands out a candy necklace to each of her friends, putting on her own after everyone has received theirs. They head out to the nightclub with the goal of having the least amount of candies on their necklace and whoever does will be declared the winner.
When Y/N had thought up which friends to ask out, she had made sure they were mostly her friends who loved to document every little thing they did on social media and who Rafe was following. With a drink in hand, she laughs as the tattooed brunet leans down towards her neck to eat one of the candies. She watches as Clara documents the whole scene on her phone. Y/N made sure to lean her face towards the camera, so it was clear it was her. The man pulls away and gives her a smirk as he walks away. Out of the corner of her eyes, she catches a glance at Clara’s phone. She is posting the video to her story on Instagram, making sure to tag Y/N.
——
Rafe sits on the balcony with beer in hand and a joint resting on an ashtray on the coffee. He is skipping through people’s stories on Instagram when one particular one attracts his attention. He leans closer to his phone to make sure it is really her and the tag confirms who it really is. He observes the unknown person bring his lips down to her neck and Rafe feels his blood boil. Instead of placing a kiss in a place only Rafe’s lips should be close to, the boy’s teeth bite into a candy attached to the elastic necklace. Rafe rewatches the video over and over again, examining the look of joy on Y/N’s face. She shouldn’t be enjoying it as much as she is. She should only want him near her neck in that sense. On his fifth time watching it, Rafe notices the caption to the events going on: The girl with the least amount of candy wins and it looks like Y/L/N is playing to win. Without another thought, Rafe puts out his blunt and gets his car keys, glad that he had just started his relaxation so he only had one puff and sip of the possible impairments.
——
Rafe finds his target dancing on the dance floor with a man behind her. The blue-haired man holds her swaying hips and his lips are near her neck. Rafe can feel the heat reach his neck. He quickly pulls the man away from her, ignoring the yip the man lets out. Y/N turns at the loss of the man’s hands on her hips and glows at the sight of Rafe. The angry look on Rafe’s face doesn’t deter her and she lets him drag her to the back of the club, out of sight of other people. The music dampens in the back of the club. Rafe gently slams her back into the wall and he leans his hand above her head. “Now, what game do you think you are playing at, little fox?” Rafe’s anger converts into a smirk as he lustfully looks down at her.
“I don’t know what you are talking about?”
“Ha, don’t play innocent with me. Why are you letting men’s lips near your neck?”
“Just playing a little game, Rafe. I wanna win.”
“Well, if you wanted to win, little fox, then you should’ve called me.” Each word is broken apart with a kiss as he makes his way down her neck towards the necklace. She feels him start to nibble one of the candies like the other men, but unlike the others the sudden feeling of him using his tongue to bring the candy into his mouth causes her to jump. He chuckles at her surprise and makes sure a little more tongue is used to get the next candy.
“You’re only supposed to eat one. That’s how the game w… wor…works.”
She is having a hard time thinking with the feeling of his hot breath on her neck. He takes another candy into his mouth, but when one of the pieces falls onto her breast, she feels her breath hitch as she watches Rafe lean his head down to eat the candy. He places a kiss on the place the candy once was, then licks his way back up to her necklace to continue his destruction of it. “I’m changing the rules. I don’t share my candy.”

You rarely think about sentences that could change your life.
There are too many instances that could change your life; therefore, it would be moot to think about.
You have a terminal illness.
You've won 69 million dollars.
Someone you love has horrifically died—no, there were no remains.
It's all too overwhelming to think about; therefore, you don't. Yet, somehow, if you ever did think about life-changing sentences, you didn't think it could ever be, "Hey, have you noticed how you seem to exclusively date girls who look like Wanda?"
And it was like the ground crumbled underneath you. It was such a sickening realization—not that Wanda was in any way sickening—it was the fact that you might just be subconsciously a pervert.
The more you thought about the words, the more horrifying it became. Every one-night stand, every situationship, every girlfriend—god, they all looked like Wanda.
You're too scared to think about it deeper in fear of what it would reveal subconsciously every time you kissed or fucked a girl. Were you thinking of Wanda? God, you just couldn't think about it.
This was all Bucky's fault. You wished you had never gone out onto that balcony that night.
3 months prior to that night at the bar with Wanda & Steve
The cool air felt better, and the breeze settled on the back of your neck. There was definitely too much wine going around, and you only managed to escape as Tony brought out the hard liquor.
The crowd dispersed after several shots you didn't partake in. You stared into the distance, thinking idly how Tony had way too much money. Old money was ridiculous. Why does someone need a garden fountain as big as a pool?
Movement caught the corner of your eye, and you saw Wanda and Vision walking through the dimly lit garden. You smiled fondly at your best friend as she laughed at whatever charming thing Vision had managed to say.
Vision was...just okay, in your opinion. You thought he was too nonchalant about Wanda, and that was why they were so on and off rather than consistently being together. Wanda deserved someone who loved her fiercely, and you couldn't imagine Vision always putting Wanda first.
You watched with slight melancholy when Wanda linked her arms through his as they sat on the ledge of the garden fountain. You wished you had also brought someone along for this party.
"Hey, thought I saw you sneak out here."
You turned around and saw Bucky holding a glass of beer. You smirked at him with mirth. "You know what I must do when Tony starts bringing out the grey goose."
Bucky shuddered, clearly having been roped into a few shots. He came and stood next to you, catching the scene you were staring at. "Guess they're back on then?"
You shrugged. "Guess so. We'll see how long it lasts. I'm betting 3 months."
"Be realistic. It'll be 2 and a half months," Bucky snorted.
"Ye of little faith," you teased and then sighed. "I wish I also brought someone along. I should've brought that girl I met at my photoshoot."
"The brunette with green eyes?" Bucky asked, and you nod. "You know what I've noticed?"
"Hm?" you hummed in response to Bucky's casual tone.
"You seem to have a very specific type when it comes to dating," Bucky mused. "They're always brunette—save those two girls from university—and they always have green eyes."
You furrow your brows in serious thought. "I suppose so."
"Yeah," Bucky nodded, his tone still casual. "They always remind me of Wanda, especially from the back. I always have to make sure I'm careful not to mix up your date with Wanda."
Bucky ended it with a chuckle, stating he was getting cold before he left without another world, leaving you alone outside.
The connect dots snapped into place almost instantly, horrifying you as you continued to stare at Wanda from above.
Oh, fuck.
Maybe it was a good thing you didn't bring anyone tonight. You're not sure how you'd be able to take someone home into your bed with the daunting realization you go after girls who look like your best friend...because you actually want your best friend.
The three months since that discovery had nearly driven you to insanity. Since you refused to talk to anyone about it, most of your thought process was, " Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no."
But in the end, you resolved that it couldn't happen. Wanda would never reciprocate your feelings in a million years, especially since she had Vision. Wanda occasionally even talked about the possibility of marrying him down the road.
It wasn't happening. It was never going to happen.
Wanda was more important to you than anyone in the whole entire world. You would never allow anything to risk the friendship—even your feelings.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷
You felt like a sick sexual deviant.
Despite your resolve to bury your feelings and continue on as normal, it was getting increasingly weird to continue to see girls who looked like Wanda. Yet, you couldn't stop. It wasn't doing it for you otherwise.
But now, every time you kissed a girl, all you could see was Wanda in her. Sex was beginning to become a guilty pleasure for all the wrong reasons.
When you met Raye, it felt like another sinful thing to lust after, knowing how much she physically reminded you of Wanda. But you could see a big personality difference in the short time you spent chatting with Raye.
Wanda was the type you spoiled, indulging in her strange, wacky ideas. She could be very emotional, swinging from one side of the spectrum to another. She had such a big heart, willing to love, but also held grudges and was wicked if crossed. Wanda was a brat in all the loving ways you could mean.
Raye could be best described as emotionally consistent. On the surface, she portrayed a wicked sense of humor and was fun to be around, but she was much more guarded than Wanda. She was very independent, not liking anything that might even intrude on her freedom. Raye kept her true feelings close to herself and seemed to be teasing you to come find out.
It was different. You didn't mind, maybe liking it even (purely in the sense it was the opposite of Wanda, and you couldn't afford to keep lusting after your best friend in all possible ways).
Even so, your mind was distracted on the first date.
"Have you ever done a boudoir photoshoot?" Raye asks, her tone low and seductive.
"Can't say that I have," you smile, trying to remind yourself to be present during the date. It's been long since you've properly wined and dined someone, and Wanda kept entering your thoughts.
"Well, there's a first for everything and you might even have a willing model," Raye bit her bottom lip suggestively, her index finger stroking the back of your hand.
And while the southern twang does stir something in you, and you feel your stomach tingling, you're very aware that it's because Raye physically reminds you of Wanda. So, your mind traitorously imagines Wanda biting her lip and saying seductive things to you.
"THEY WOULD NEVER—"
You whip your head around, swearing you heard Wanda. When there was no sign of her, you furrowed your brows in confusion, turning back to Raye.
Was this a sign of insanity?
You resolve right then and there to focus on the lovely brunette before you and enjoy the date. It was easy enough if you relaxed and earnestly asked Raye questions about herself.
It was easy enough to hold Raye's hand and swing it back and forth if you just thought about how warm they were.
It was enough to giggle when Raye leaned in closer to whisper something silly or naughty in your ear if you just thought about how her breath felt on the shell of your ear.
Suddenly, the car next to you went off, the alarm beeping loudly enough to make you and Raye jump in surprise. You turned around and noticed the couple behind you were gone. You thought they looked slightly familiar, but it was too difficult to determine when they were so far away in the dark under passing streetlights.
Ultimately, you walk Raye up her steps, unsure what you want your next move to be. Everything feels strange since the revelation. You feel guilty for your lust, but specifically what causes it.
But when Raye pulled you in for a hot, searing kiss, you decided to just go with the flow...which also ended up being nothing as she got a call from her sister while clothes were discarded.
The call was only bordering on 40 seconds, but you decided your momentum was lost, and you needed that momentum to have sex with someone else while you tried (unsuccessfully) to not think about Wanda.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷
Fuck. Darcy.
Those were the only words that could come to your mind after Wanda texted her vague answer about whether or not she was returning home tonight.
You sighed as you scrolled through the videos and photos, trying to get a headstart on putting together the video for Tony and Pepper. As you began opening up files, many were corrupted by the inability to open or glitchy images.
With another sigh, your chair scraped against the floor as you shifted back, pulling out your phone and shooting a quick text to the videographer asking if you could meet up tomorrow to get the SD card for the originals. You got a prompt reply with a thumbs-up emoji with a time and place.
You thought you might've just heard something shuffle in your room, but you forget about it when it's quiet again.
In the end, you spent another 45 minutes scrolling through some other photos that weren't corrupted, catching Wanda in the background and staring with a lingering thought about how absolutely pretty she was.
A part of you was in disbelief that Wanda was interested in women. You had so many questions that still lingered, but you didn't want to push Wanda or make it seem like you were interrogating her, and she needed to prove it.
Still, you wondered what exactly made Wanda come to terms with the fact that she liked women.
Specifically, why couldn't you be the reason she was interested in women? You shoved those forbidden feelings down, beating them back into its box to put away.
It didn't matter.
It shouldn't matter.
You're with Raye, and Wanda may be with Darcy. Or some other girl, or maybe even with a guy again.
It's just not going to be you.
And that's okay, you tell yourself. You can love someone without having to pursue anything. You just want to be there for Wanda.
Of course, all of this changed the moment you watched a slanted confession video from an unaware Wanda while your roommate was out for lunch with a client.
Shock is the only thing that registers upon the video finishing. Were you hallucinating again? Was this like the first date with Raye where you kept thinking you could hear or see glimpses of Wanda?
But you played the video over and over, blinking every time it was finished.
Then a burst of strange laughter bubbled from your mouth, and then horror dawned on you that, 'oh, fuck. She actually feels the same way.'
It was unclear whether or not Wanda was trying to let her feelings be known or if she was also facing the same issue as you, where she was suppressing them. Either way, Wanda would unlikely be brave enough to say anything soon.
You spent the week humming and hawing about what pursuing a relationship with your best friend would mean. What would the consequences be if things didn't work out? What would the consequences be if you declined to pursue anything more despite if Wanda confessed? What would the consequences be to watch Wanda move on and love someone else?
Your stomach dropped.
You needed to break up with Raye.
Your stomach dropped.
You wait 3 more days before confronting Wanda since she's clearly a chicken.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷
"You knew you had feelings for me for at least 3 months?" Wanda screeches. "And you said nothing?!"
"Okay, relax, you banshee," you wince at the sound. "How is that the only thing you hung onto out of everything I just told you?"
"But...but!" Wanda narrows her eyes on you. "It was getting serious with Raye!"
"Serious?" you raise your brow at Wanda. "What gave you the idea it was getting serious? We were dating but I saw her maybe a few days out of a month with how much she flies out for work."
"So, it wasn't getting serious at all?" Wanda frowns.
"Well," you purse your lips. "Maybe for Raye. She was considering transferring to another department so she wouldn't have to fly out anymore."
Wanda's mouth hangs open, her face pale with the worst thoughts of what might've been if they never confessed their feelings.
"Which," you cut in like you're able to read her mind, "obviously, I told her to not do as I wanted to end things with her."
"How did she take it?" Wanda asks curiously.
You look uncomfortable as you shift in bed, but Wanda waits patiently. "I think she just emotionally shut down. There were no tears, no screaming, or any accusations about why I was ending things. She just looked impassive as she accepted it and asked me to leave."
"Oh," Wanda bit her bottom lip. She feels bad in a way, but not bad enough to regret making you hers. "I'm sorry, bug."
You sigh as you reach over and pull Wanda close, pressing a kiss to her bare shoulder. The blanket shifts down, exposing Wanda's neck and collarbone where you had unabashedly marked up.
"Now, are you done with the questions, or can we resume where we left off?" You ask mischievously, pressing languid kisses against the side of her neck.
Wanda closes her eyes with a soft hum, pressing her body closer to yours until you shift and move over Wanda.
"I notice that you didn't mention anything about Darcy."
"Mention what exactly?" You say between kisses, stroking Wanda's hip. "That I was insanely jealous and wished her ill? Although, now that I know it was a fake date and neither of you had interest in each other, she seems nice."
Wanda laughs. "Even after she hacked your laptop?"
"With your help, might I remind you," you pull up and pointedly look at her. "But if she never corrupted those wedding files, I would've never got the original SD card and found out about your feelings."
"Very true," Wanda muses as she throws her head around your neck and pulls you close. She pecks your lips charmingly. "We should get her a nice bottle of wine."
"What about Steve and Bucky."
Wanda scoffs. "They're meddling little school girls who are probably kicking their feet and giggling."
You can't help but laugh before you dive in for another kiss, eager but slow. Oh, man. You were going to love Wanda for the rest of your life.
After a moment, Wanda sighs. "Okay, fine. We can give our McDonald's coupons to Steve and Bucky."
You laugh again. "Alright, brat."
"Okay, stinky."
"Chicken."
"Stupid."
"Witch."
"Here we go again with that," Wanda rolls her eyes with a smile. "I'll have you know that if I were a witch, I'd be the most powerful and best witch ever."
"I bet you would," you agree very readily. "Instead of cursing people to death, you'd be saving their lives...or causing mass chaos. Huh, I guess that's not so different from now."
Wanda scoffs indignantly before she starts tickling you. You laugh, trying to jerk away, but Wanda is persistent in keeping you in place.
"Mercy!" You laugh as you roll to the side.
"Take that back! I do not cause chaos!"
"I take it back! You're clearly an A-List superhero!"
Wanda continues to tickle you anyway. "Say you love me!"
"I love you!"
Only then does Wanda stop, grinning wickedly as she presses a chaste kiss to your lips, and you're breathing heavily.
You want to call her a menace, but you're afraid that will only result in another tickle fight.
Wanda smiles warmly.
"I love you, too."
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷
"See, I told you Wanda would be the one to confess!" Steve smirks.
"That's because you're a little cheater who went and nudged Wanda along," Bucky rolls his eyes with a smile.
"Oh, yeah, like you're the perfect picture of fair," Steve narrows his eyes. "Don't think I don't know that you went to Bug first. I had to step in and nudge Wanda to make the odds even."
"Was it really Wanda who confessed when it was Bug who technically discovered her secret."
Steve seems to think about it before he slumps into the sofa, "I feel like that's a gray area." Then, Steve frowns. "Ugh, but then that means neither of us wins the bet."
"We can just call it even," Bucky shrugs, laying his head on Steve's shoulder.
"Oh, no," Steve shakes his head. "I won't let you wriggle out of our bet. We will watch all the Lord of the Rings movies if you lose."
Bucky groans loudly. "But there's so many and they're so long."
"You really think I want to watch the Star Wars movies?" Steve rolls his eyes.
"They're a classic!" Bucky argues.
"So is Lord of the Rings."
Bucky huffs but concedes. "Fine," he wrinkles his nose. "Should we bet on something else?"
"No, I like the thrill of two people getting together, even if it takes time. Besides, we have the time since we have to finish a whole bunch of shows," Steve says.
"Hm, which ones of our friends are due to get together?" Bucky muses.
"We could try Nat and Maria," Steve suggests.
"No, too hard since Maria doesn't live here," Bucky shakes his head and then offers, "Yelena and Kate?"
"I think they're actually already together," Steve furrows his brows. "But if they're not, I'm too scared of Yelena to get involved in her affairs."
"I think that's all our friends who are technically single with a viable date option," Bucky sighs.
Silence falls between them before Steve suggests, "Want to bet when Tony and Pepper will announce they're pregnant?"
They stare at each other for a moment before they yell out their guess at the same time.
"6 months!"
"6 months!"
The silliness of it all leaves Steve and Bucky giggling.

Chapter 15 [Final]: Maybe I’m too busy bein’ yours to fall for somebody new.
It felt like you were in the opening scene of a cheesy 80’s horror flick. Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads was blasting through the frat house you were currently at, a red solo cup with spiked punch in one hand, and the other grabbing on to Kate’s hand while she dragged you through the crowd with a laugh, your purple cape swishing behind you as you make your way through the sea of drunk college students, all dressed up in different costumes.
Eventually you found yourself in the kitchen of the frat house, it was small and despite the only people in said kitchen being you and your group, it still felt a bit crowded but what room wouldn’t feel a bit crowded when you were tipsy from alcohol, and every room had either someone in a costume, Halloween decor, or both. You took a sip of your drink as you looked over at Xavier with an amused experience as he playing around with his collapsible staff he got for his costume, letting out a small laugh when he almost knocked over a spider decoration that was hanging off one of the kitchen cabinets, before he let out an embarrassed cough and sheepishly collapsed his staff. You knew that you shouldn’t have let Kate give him an item he could use as an actual weapon when he was going to be drinking.
You were dressed as Raven, Logan was beast boy, Kate and her boyfriend were starfire and Robin and Xiaver’s roommate who you couldn’t remember the name of was cyborg. You’ve got to admit, the cape was fun, and you were thankful that Kate didn’t force you and Logan to paint yourselves gray and green respectively. You 5 have been making your way down frat row for the past 2 hours at this point, hopping from one party to another, and were planning on leaving for the next one, but wanting to raid the candy basket and take a few beers for the road (aka, the 4 minute walk).
Tonight was great, a nice way to unwind after the absolute roller coaster of emotions you’ve been on recently, school was starting back up, skating practices have only been getting more intense as you and Logan practiced for sectionals, and you still had absolutely no idea what was going on between you and Miguel, despite the good terms you two have been on recently, you two would be relatively snarky with each other, but there wasn’t any underlying malice like there was before a few months ago. Your thought were pulled pulled out of your head and your hand was tugged and you found yourself following behind Kate and the rest of your group and you all exited through the back door in the kitchen, and makes your way to the next frat house, Logan unlocking the gate that separated the front yard with the back one.
As you entered the next party, the song Goo Goo Muck was finishing up before transitioning to The Create from the Black Leather Lagoon, both from The Cramps. Despite your best efforts, and both your and Kate’s tight grip on each other’s hand, you had found yourself becoming separated from a majority of your group and you wondered deeper into the crowd, the stench of alcohol and weed filling your senses as you felt Logan’s hand tightened on your shoulder, you had officially lost the others.
You and Logan decided to make your way up to the second floor of the house, wanting to see if there was a way to get out to the balcony that you saw on your way in, knowing that you’d get a good view of the night sky. Eventually you two did make your way outside on it, Logan leaning against the railing while you were sitting down on the floor, using your cape as a makeshift blanket to keep your ass from touching the wood. Both of you sipped on your stolen beers as you both talked.
“I think I saw your ex on the way up here.” You throw out the information to him nonchalantly, causing him to choke on his beer a bit, a hand coming up and patting on his chest to try and help regain his composure.
“Um, you-you did? Where?” He stuttered as he attempted to act normally, but you noticed as he straightened up a bit from his position against the railing.
“By the bathroom-“ you didn’t get to finish before he ran back inside, a heavy sigh leaving your lips as you were left alone outside, knowing it was better to not follow him and attempt to stop him. Taking a sip of your beer, your eyes drifted back to the night sky, how you wished you could actually see the stars, but due to all the light pollution that was only a simple wish, grabbing your cape and wrapping it tightly around yourself in an attempt to help warm yourself up, mentally cursing yourself for not wearing tights as you looked up at the gray night sky.
“¿Qué estás haciendo aquí solita, princesa?” A deep voice asked you from behind you. [What are you doing here all alone princess?]
“Hey to you too, Miguel.”
A silence fell over you two, before you heard his heavy footsteps make their way over to your direction, you didn’t glance over to look at him until you saw him entering your peripheral vision. Your lips pull up to a small smirk, a hmph leaving your mouth as you glance up at him, before you finally break the silence.
“A vampire? I was expecting more from you.” You teased with a snort, causing his to scoff in response, before moving to go sit next to you, which surprised you slightly but you decided not to say anything.
“I’m the phantom of the opera, and I don’t wanna hear it from you, (Y/N). What are you supposed to be? Some sort of witch?”
“No. I'm Raven from the teen titans! Ya know, the DC character?”
“Oh, sorry. All my superhero knowledge comes from Peter and he’s more of a Marvel guy-“
“I’m more of a Marvel person too and even I know who that is!”
“Well I’m not a nerd like you are.”
“Rude! Says the one dressed as a character from a musical.” You giggled with a scoff, and it wasn’t until your giggles subsided that you realized that you’ve two gotten closer in proximity during your little back and forth. You thought, maybe it was just you and the alcohol in your system, but when you noticed the sudden shift in Miguel’s eyes, and the way his Adam’s apple bobs up and down as he swallowed some saliva.
You both just sat there for a while, staring into each other’s eyes, neither one daring to move, afraid that if you did, the moment of tension between you both might disappear, so, for what felt like an eternity, you both just stared at the other. Eventually, you grained enough control over your body to open your mouth to say something, to say what? You weren’t sure, but before a single syllable could even leave your mouth, Miguel took the opportunity to lunge towards you and smash his lips into yours. Immediately, you melted into the kiss with a sigh, your hands going up and snaking around his neck before pulling him closer, causing a quiet groan to leave Miguel’s mouth. Small whimpers and moans escaping your lips as his rough hands landed on your exposed thighs, the goosebumps that were already forming on your legs became more prominent as Miguel slipped them down and onto your ass, giving your cheeks a firm squeeze, before pulling you into his lap. You let out a squeal as your hands drop down to his chest instead, your knees landing on either side of his hips, the thin cape of his phantom costume doing little to help cushion them from the hard cold wood of the balcony. Your head was swirling, both from the alcohol and the make out session, and it didn’t help that you could feel his bulge from where you were sitting straddled on top of him, he pulls away first, given you both a chance to grasp for air, before his head dips to begin peppering kisses down your jaw and neck.
God, you’ve never wanted this man more in your life then you did right now, and you know that Miguel was feeling the same way about you, but you both knew there was a better time and place for you to both succumb to those urges, so with a final kiss your neck he pulled away from you, you shift to sit on his thighs, both of your chest rising and falling rapidly in attempt to catch your breath. Miguel’s hand goes up to wipe some saliva and lipgloss from the corner of his mouth.
Once you were able to get yourself back under control, you cleared your throat before speaking.
“Look, Miguel. As much as I love making out with you on a bi-weekly basis, I don’t think I’m in a place, mentally for this to continue without at least knowing where we stand with each other. I-I don’t care if you only wanna be fuckbuddies, or make out buddies, or if you want to try for something serious-but I just want to know what you want.”
“I want you.”
“Can you be more specific?”
“I want all of you, (Y/N). I want you to be mine, and only mine, and I wanna be yours.”

a/n : IT IS MY BIRTHDAY TODAY THEREFORE I HAVE THE RIGHT TO WRITE SOMETHING SELF-INDULGENT
Tumblr media
Tick tock , Tick tock
The grandfather clock in Ramshackle’s living room ticked, you sat on the couch fiddling with your phone, constantly checking the time
11:29pm
You sighed impatiently.
You were spending your first birthday here in Twisted Wonderland, your first birthday away from your home world. You wondered if there were any traditions for birthdays in this world apart from parties and gifts, but considering that this world was barely any different from yours, aside from magic, you didn’t get your hopes up nor bother to research.
You scrolled through the posts on your Magicam account’s feed, it wasn’t as tuned to your interests as you would like it to be, but you didn’t even know if what you were interested in even existed here. Cooking videos, life hacks, ASMR, you watched it all for a distraction from boredom.
Suddenly the grandfather clock rang, your eyes darted to the time on your phone
12:00am,
You got ready to make a small celebratory post on your Magicam story when a soft light in the corner of the room caught your attention, a familiar horned figure emerged from the light and gave you a small smile as his feet met the floor
“Malleus!” you greeted happily, Malleus quietly walked up to you and handed over a small box, assuming to be your gift
“Happy birthday, Child of Man. I am quite unfamiliar as to what humans enjoy as gifts for their birthday, but Lilia gave me some guidance, so I hope you enjoy it”.
Malleus had to admit that he was nervous for your reaction, it was his first time giving a human a gift apart from Silver, but it was a joyous occasion, so he held off that nervousness.
You carefully untied the shiny green ribbons that secured the box, Malleus could see sparkles in your eyes when they laid their gaze onto his gift. It was a golden ring with root-like designs that held the precious dark red gem in place. Gently removing the ring from its cushion, you put it on your index finger and admired how it shined under the light.
“So, what do you think of it?” Malleus asked, you gave him a bright smile then got up from the couch to give him a hug “I love it! Usually I wouldn’t be interested in jewelry, but this one that you picked out…I just love it” you laughed a close eyed smile up at Malleus who stared down at you, the only human who has been brave enough to casually embrace him like this.
He carefully put his hands on the small of your back, unsure of what exactly to do, before returning the hug. This scene laid on the fine line between friends and lovers, a line that was blurring every day for both of you as you both slowly became more aware of the feelings both of you held for each other. You both broke the embrace softly and transitioned to a comfortable silence until a knock pierced the air
“Hey! [Name]! We’re here!”
You hurriedly opened the door to be greeted with the first years and a couple of the housewardens, mainly Kalim alongside Jamil, Riddle, and Azul
“Happy birthday, Prefect!” they yelled in unison as they entered, you laughed and thanked them while Malleus smiled at the sight from the sidelines.
As everyone chatted with you and amongst each other, suddenly Malleus calls you to join him in the balcony of the dorm, curious you followed him.
Now you both of you stood in the balcony, arms resting on the wooden ledges as the cool night air pricked your skins.
“So, what’d you call me here for?”
Malleus was a bit hesitant to answer, “Would you believe me if I said that I just wanted to be with you?”
You faltered for a second, a small blush crept on your cheeks, but later you just smiled at him again
“Yeah, I would”
“Do you think it was selfish to bring the celebrant away from the festivities?”
“I know it’s wrong to have favorites, but among all the others you’re the most precious to me, Malleus, so in this case it’s not”
Now it was the prince’s turn to be flustered, he gazed at you as you stared at the bright night sky, swearing he could see all the stars reflected onto your eyes like droplets of white paint on a dark canvas.
His gazed softened and the corners of his lips pulled up into a small smile
‘One day I’ll tell you’ he thought ‘I want to make all your days feel like it’s your birthday, like this birthday’.
“[Name]! It’s time to blow out the candles!” Ace called
You looked back and saw the cake the first years made and smiled happily,
“C’mon Malleus! I’ll make a wish!” you lightly tugged at his hand as you held it
He wordlessly followed you back into the bright living room lights, becoming witness to the celebrations of your first birthday in his world and your first wish.

So, I saw Damsel today...
**Spoilers and complete plot for the movie Damsel will be all over this post, so don't read if you care about spoilers. Also, this is based on one watch only, so if some timeline details are very slightly wrong, that is why, though the important parts I'll be discussing are not contingent on these details.**
I'm not usually one to closely review a movie, but this one left me with a lot of thoughts that kind of sum up a lot of my feelings about big budget movies in the past decade, so here I go.
First off, I did like Damsel. I enjoyed watching it. It was gorgeous to look at, and Millie Bobby Brown did a fantastic job with the role and script she was given. However, I was left feeling like there was something very important about the whole experience missing, and it took me a few moments to really put my finger on it afterwards. The plot was fine, if a bit predictable, and I did appreciate the focus on Elodie as a protagonist. I loved that the dragon was given a plausable reason to want to devour/kill princesses, and that the dragon wasn't slain at the end, even though the opportunity was presented. And oh my goodness, the costuming department did a phenomenal job.
What I want to do here is give a rundown of the plot, and to then give my thoughts, so if you've seen the movie and don't care for a rehash you can skip to the next set of dashes.
--------
So, basic plot: The film opens on a scene of a king and his entourage of knights are entering a sinister cave, where there dwells a fearsome dragon. The king declares that they will defeat the dragon, and his knights charge, but are immediately melted by the dragon's fire, leaving only the king. The king drives his sword into the ground, and falls to his knees, and the scene cuts away before we see what happens next.
Centuries later, Princess Elodie and her little sister Floria live in a kingdom that is beset with hardship. They are low on money and food, and their people are facing a hard winter. So when the king is contacted by the royal family of the kingdom of Aurea--a kingdom they had never heard of, but that seems to be very wealthy--with the proposal that Elodie marry the Aurean prince, the family immediately travels to Aurea to finalize agreements. Amongst the traveling party are Elodie, Floria, their queen stepmother, and the king.
Upon arrival in Aurea, Elodie is introduced to prince Henry, while the kings meet alone. However, when the king emerges from the negotiation chamber, his wife immediately notices that he seems upset and deeply disturbed, though he assures her that everything is in good order, the deal has been made, and their kingdom will soon have more gold than he ever dreamed of as compensation for their daughter's marriage to the prince.
The stepmother queen, sensing something is wrong, goes to Elodie and tells her not to marry the prince, but she has resigned herself to helping her people, even if it means marriage to a man she does not know. That night, she steps out ont her balcony and sees another tower, with another young woman doing the same, before the young woman's maid calls her back inside.
The next day, Elodie is married to prince Henry, and is told of a ritual that is performed after weddings up on a nearby mountain, that honors the trials of their ancestors. They travel up to the mountain, where Elodie is told of the story we witnessed at the opening of the film. When the ancestors of the Aurean people arrived on their island, it was inhabited already by a dragon, who set upon them, raining destruction for the insult of invading its land. Though the king was unable to slay the beast, he was able to broker an agreement. His people would be left alone if he were willing to sacrifice his three daughters to the dragon. So now, whenever a new royal heir is married, they make the trip up to the dragon's mountain, over the chasm that leads to its lair, to commemorate the sacrifice of that original king.
The queen motions to Henry, who then slices his palm, and once Elodie has done the same, they mingle their blood, symbolizing that their people have now become of one blood and line. The prince tells Elodie that, at this point, he is to carry her back across the chasm, and that she should close her eyes. But halfway across, he whispers that he is sorry, and then he throws her over the edge, down into the depths of the dragon's caves.
Elodie survives relatively unharmed, her fall having been broken by many roots and branches along the drop, but there seems to be no way out. Very shortly thereafter, she has her first encounter with the dragon itself, who epresses delight at the thought of getting to kill her, and Elodie is forced to run from the dragon's fire. She hits a dead end, and there she finds the body of the young woman she had seen the night before, half burned, and realizes that they were always ment to be sacrifices to the dragon. The dragon continues to taunt her, breathing more fire down the passage where she is trapped, but she notices a narrow hole in the cave wall that she manages to wedge herself through it, barely escaping and sustaining a severe burn on one leg. She rips part of her dress off, wrapping it around her wound, and continues.
From here, we get a lengthy series of scenes of Elodie navigating her way through the trecherous cave system, hounded at every turn by the dragon. She finds an area inhabited by bioluminescent slugs, which she gathers in another part of the dress that she tears off, to use as a lanter, and finally reaches a small cave where a princess before her has written on the wall that this place is safe, and that the dragon cannot reach there. Written on the walls are the names of dozens of other princesses that, over the centuries, have reached this cave before inevitably being caught and killed by the dragon. Next to the names is a rough map of the cave system, showing Elodie a passage marked with a sun, which she assumes is the way out. She takes time to rest here, falling asleep, but when she wakes up she finds her burned leg covered in the bioluminescent slugs. She tears them away in disgust, but notices that anywhere a slug has been, her wound has been healed. Her determination renewed, she continues.
Elodie follows the directions of the map, making her way to the presumed exit, but finds that there is no way down the sheer rock face. As some riders go by she screames to them for help, but the dragon appears and nearly kills her, forcing her to retreat back into the caves. In short order, she ends up in the cave we saw in the opening sequence, and Elodie finds a three broken dragon eggs, with the desicated corpses of the baby dragons that once inhabited them still in the debris. The scene cuts back to that opening sequence, showing us that before encountering the dragon herself, the king and his knights murdered the dragonlings as they hatched.
Elodie realizes that it was the king who had originally attacked the dragon, killing her only children, not that the dragon had been a tyrant. The only reason she had demanded three daughters was in recompense for the wrong that had been done to her. The deal that had actually been struck was that the humans could only be allowed to survive if, every generation, they continued to pay the same price so as to never stop feeling the pain of losing their children. The kingdom, however, has figured out a loophole. By taking princesses from other countries, they could simply mingle blood, fooling the dragon into thinking that the princesses were actual descendents of their line instead of girls that they only knew long enough to technically become part of their family before being sacrificed.
However, at this point, Elodie's father, having been overwhelmed guilt for selling his daughter, arrives at the caves to save her. Before he finds Elodie, the dragon shows up, killing the king's men and mortally wounding the king himself. The dragon resumes her search, and Elodie is given the time to bid farewell to her father as he dies, and he is given the opportunity to ask her for forgiveness, and to tell her to use the rope that they had used to enter the cave to escape. He tells her that Floria and her stepmother have a ship and are waiting for her. So Elodie forgives her father, and follows his direction, barely escaping as the dragon persues.
When the dragon realizes that Elodie has escaped, she begins to raze the mountainside, creating an inferno that is visible from the Aurean castle. The queen of Aurea sees the destruction, and takes action, going to the ship where Floria and the stepmother are waiting. She has her men kidnap Floria, cutting her son's hand and throwing her into the chasm in Elodie's place. When Elodie finally meets up with her stepmother and learns of Floria's capture, she immediately resolves to retrieve her sister, and she follows the same footsteps that she had taken before, returning to the dragon's main chamber.
The dragon, still set on getting Elodie herself and able to smell that Floria is of the same family as Elodie, sets Floria up as bait for Elodie, but Elodie sets up a distraction, drawing the dragon away. She goes to Floria, who has been injured by her fall into the chasm, and before they can get away, the dragon returns. Elodie takes up the sword her father had dropped before, and manages to position herself directly by the dragon's eye, determined to tell the dragon of how they have both been lied to. The dragon, however, does not believe her, and tey have a battle, where Elodie uses her ingenuity to trick the dragon into severely injuring herself with her own fire. As the dragon lay wounded on the ground, Elodie shows her the cut on her hand, and tells her that the dragon has only been perpetuating the violence that had so hurt her before, killing innocent daughters instead of exacting the revenge she had sought. The dragon tells her to end it, then, but Elodie refuses, instead retrieving some of the bioluminescent slugs and placing them on the dragon's wounds to heal her.
The scene shifts to another wedding, where the third and final princess is marrying the prince, unknowingly destined to become the last sacrifice. As the ceremony nears its end, Elodie, still in the rags of her own wedding dress, walks in. She gives a speech to those present, and tells the last princess to take her family and go. The queen declares that they are not afraid of Elodie, and she says that it isn't her they should be afraid of, right before the dragon arrives, killing the royal family and razing the castle to the ground.
In the aftermath, Elodie's stepmother is given rule of their kingdom, which now has all of the resources that Aurea once owned, and Elodie sails off on a ship, with the dragon flying beside her.
The End.
--------
So, what was wrong with this film? Plot-wise, nothing that would ruin it for me. It was a good story, and, like I said before, lots of fun to watch. But I was left feeling extremely empty. See, at its heart, this story was about the love and loss of children. The dragon was the last of its kind, left alone because of the unthinking cruelty of a king who viewed her as a beast, and cared not at all about the lives of her young. The dragon, though not innocent for all the dozens of lives she took over the centuries, was acting out of pain and loneliness, wishing only that that pain and loneliness be shared by those that inflicted it upon her. She was the one wronged, and the royal line of Aurea callously shunted their punishment off on the innocent and desperate. They did not deserve their prosperity, so the storyline had to lead to the breaking of that cycle, but the problem is that the film focused more on the retribution and that Elodie herself was badass than it did on any emotion.
And that's the big big thing. This movie left me empty because it was empty. Elodie was awesome, and she ended cycle of death, but we didn't know anything else about her. We get told she is clever, so that we don't question how her plans always end up working. We are told that she is capable, so that we don't question how she always manages to pull through. We are told that the prince is somewhat reluctant, but only barely, so that he doesn't seem too cartoonishly evil. We're not given enough to know the extent of his guilt, or enough to really know how complicit he is, or if it's really that his mother (who honestly is kinda cartoonishly evil) forcing the issue. It seems like we're supposed to kind of like him and feel bad that he doesn't want to kill these women, but it feels like it's only halfway suggesting the idea instead of developing aything. Elodie's stepmother is kind, but we are barely shown any of that, instead glossing over any real emotional connection in favor of action. She basically exists to give very heavyhanded foreshadowing, to tell Elodie when Floria is taken, and so they can say that Elodie doesn't have to be bound to royal duty after the death of her father, because there's someone else who can do it. And we're just told that Floria and Elodie are close. Floria seemingly exists solely as a plot device to make Elodie choose to face the dragon after her escape.
The glow slugs are a deus ex, somehow capable of healing life-threatening wounds on both humans and dragons in seconds, which seems to be just so they can pretend for a second that Elodie could really get hurt, but then have her in good enough shape to escape before her family leaves or the next princess is sacrificed. And also so that she can prove how badass she is by mortally wounding the dragon and having it at her mercy, but still have it up in moments, ready to come toast the real bad guys.
And Elodie's character is, unfortunately, also stuck with this same shallowness. She's intended to subvert the "damsel in distress" trope, and she kinda does...except that there are numerous times she is saved by pure luck, and the plotline of her having to go save Floria is just straight up doing the trope, just with a princess saving the damsel instead of a prince. I didn't even catch the names of the queen or king of Aurea, the prince's name (which is as bland as he is) is only spoken a couple of times, and the stepmother, who is arguably one of the more major characters aside from Elodie and the dragon, gets about 3 minutes of screentime and doesn't have a name that I can recall. Neither does the dragon, for that matter, though at least we get to see her more than the stepmother.
This is a story stripped down to its bare bones, and it's only as much of a huge shame as it is because there was real potential. I can't help but imagine how much better it could have been if given even another 45 minutes to help us understand and connect to our characters. I would have loved a real conversation with the dragon, getting to really feel her pain and experience the true cathartic acceptance and regret for what was done to her and what she did in response, instead of cutting away to the last wedding. I would have loved to see the dragon show any dimension of character other than anger and cruelty. I would have loved to see the prince wrestle with himself, or try to push back at all, or see the true struggle that Elodie's father experienced before he reached the conclusion that he'd made a mistake and needed to go save his daughter. Why did the ancestor king of Aurea choose to kill the dragon in the first place? It's implied by the end that the dragon was attacked unprovoked, but we don't really know. Was the dragon actually a hostile force that made them want to kill her, or was she simply there and the king wanted to eliminate a potential threat? Did no other princess ever try to talk to the dragon, espcially when they had a safe cave they could shout from, and the dragon conveniently seems to know when to immediately murder someone or let them speak for the plot? Why would the dragon continue to harbor such strong feelings for so long, and think she was truly achieving justice and exacting revenge when the humans were obviously thriving so?
And what do they plan to do from here? We know Elodie wants to travel and see the world, because she (once again) told us so, but is she doing that? And what of the dragon? We're told that she is the last of her kind, but how do we know there aren't any more elsewhere in the world? Is every gleeful murder of an innocent girl at her whim just forgiven and forgotten because she wasn't killing who she thought she was, and now centuries of hatred and bias has evaporated entirely, making her a friend of humankind? The ending could have been made better in seconds, should we have been given any kind of closure for either Elodie or the dragon in any way at all. Perhaps they're going off together to explore the world, to find out for sure if the dragon is truly alone or if there are more of her kind out there. Perhaps the dragon really does know, definitively, that she's the last, and so has decided to accompany the princess that ended the tragic cycle that defined her for so long, to keep her safe as she lives life the way she always wanted. Maybe the dragon has vowed to atone for her cruelty towards humans by going with Elodie, assisting the different peoples they encounter in their travels. Hell, even if a single narrated line was given that told us "and so they went on many adventures, and lived their lives to their fullest" it would be unsatisfying, but not as unsatisfying as the actual ending.
It just...it could have easily been vastly improved in almost every emotional sense. Caring about our characters, their motivations, their struggles, and the emotional heart of grief and loss could have made this a deeply moving film, but the focus was instead placed on the princess saving herself. And I get the desire to do so, the desire to subvert that trope, but a story can't be a full, satisfying arc with just that. It's the same problem we keep seeing with big budget companies and their attempts to cash in on social issues. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad for any progress, even if it is largely a soulless cash grab, because any progress, however small it may be, is still heading towards an eventual shift in social consciousness, and thus permanent change. But this film wanted to get the brownie points for having a badass princess who doesn't need a prince to save her, and so they ONLY cared about that. It wanted to show off its budget and CGI, and "subvert" the trope, but it missed everything about why women might want a capable subversion of these longstanding, sexist tropes.
A capable woman isn't solely defined by the fact that she is capable. The point isn't to say "I can do anything a man can," but that's what this film makes it out to be. Elodie, and the entire story itself, is stripped of literally anything but what it needs to be to keep the plot moving. The story keeps saying it's about Elodie, and how she overcomes the obstacles in her way, but at the exact same time, it doesn't care about her at all. It cares about appearing to care about her story, and it's so frustrating to see all that potential wasted on such soullessness. It's like having every piece of a puzzle, but the filmmakers only bothered to put together the edge pieces, threw the rest in the garbage, and called that good enough. So instead of a beautiful, satisfying picture, we're left knowing that the rest of the pieces exist, but that they'll never be put in their rightful places, and that the beauty it could have communicated has been wasted.
So yeah, I liked this movie, at least in that I enjoyed the concept and the actual watching of it to a certain extent, but I wanted to love this movie. I hate how good it could have been, and that if it were given the love and care it needed, it could have been made into so much more.
At the end of everything, a story isn't just a spectacle. It's sharing and exploring our lives, ideas, and humanity through imagination and creativity. The beauty of fantasy is imagining what people would do when put into extraordinary situations, or at least imagining the extent of ourselves we wish we could be. A story like this one can be fun once in a while, but a truly good story, one that you remember and carry with you, usually remains because it resonates with you. And it just really sucks that Damsel denies its characters of their emotional cores, because when you eliminate the emotion of a story, the viewers are denied a connection to the humanity that makes that story worth telling.

Rewind the tape —Episode 6 highlights
One of our favorite scenes is…
...paired up with our favorite quote! This is the second time Claudia and Lestat face off in a chess match, when she baits him into checkmate, securing the win but refusing him an actual finish.  The entire scene is incredible, but we particularly love how the chess game continues the thread of the first, where Claudia stated she was trying to understand Lestat. She has since concluded that, in order to beat him, she has to, “become Lestat,” “think like he does and then five moves ahead of that.”  This is a bit of backstage trivia, but showrunner Rolin Jones shared in the after-episode commentary that this scene is based off a famous chess game called The Polish Immortal.  And it’s not just the name that makes for an interesting reference! Here, Claudia is playing the long game: she’s getting rid of her good pieces while advancing the weak ones: Lestat’s too greedy to keep himself from taking her bishop and knights, and too proud to worry too much about “weak” little Claudia.  "Basically,” Rolin explains, “it's a series of moves by one opponent that sort of lures in a person who wants everything in the world, who wants to take everything, and she can see this is the way into Lestat." Later, in an interview with SyFy, Rolin added, “it's that thing where you have to make Lestat think [the party] is his idea,” just like he walks of his own volition into the trap Claudia laid for him on the board. While Lestat spends the game thinking he’s teaching her the game, Claudia speaks to Louis in the privacy of their minds, explaining how she’s going to beat him, and masterfully illustrating what she’s learnt during the match. She emerges as a sneak victor, proving to Louis she can carry her plan through.
What's a favorite scene of yours? Maybe one of the snippets we see of the years Louis and Claudia spent together on their own? Hi!
I saw one of your post about King Henry VIII brother and I’m hoping you can do another one:
So it is King Henry’s birthday and they are hosting a ball! Anytime The King and Queen host a party(which is rare) Y/n get excited cause it is the only time Y/n can speak to other people who aren’t his brother, nieces and nephew(the wives, guards and servants aren’t aloud to have a conversation with brother Y/n). The only place Y/n is aloud to go outside of the palace is the palace gardens.
Henry is busy talking to his friends. Edward was dancing with a noble girl, Mary and Elizabeth was gossiping with some ladies. Until, something caught Elizabeth’s eyes, some lady was “talking” to her uncle. Elizabeth excused herself from the conversation and went a little bit closer to her uncle and the witch lady. Once closer, she saw the lady wasn’t talking to her uncle but flirting with him. Brother Y/n was uncomfortable with the lady’s flirting and tried to walk away after politely saying that he needs to go but the lady painfully grabbed his arm.
Elizabeth instantly went to get her sibling to tell them about it and they were pisses. The three went over to their father and told him everything. Henry was pissed that someone touched his precious twin brother. Henry looked over to crowd and saw his brother alone, rubbing the arm(that was probably bruised) the lady grabbed. The lady was still at the same spot that Elizabeth saw everything at, looking displeased. The King knew exactly what to do to make sure no one touches what is his again.
The next day, the lady was dragged out of her house by the guards.
A week later, the woman was getting ready for her execution. Henry brought his brother to the balcony to watch the execution, the queen was also there but was ordered to stay far away from Y/n. While the lady was saying her final words, saying that she prays to the King for forgiveness for flirting and touching his twin. Halfway through her speech, the brother turns his back from the scene and clings to his brother, putting his face in his brother’s shoulder. Henry smirks and comforts his brother. He felt his brother flinch as a clean slicing sound breaks through the silent. The queen stares at Y/n in rage. The woman who was executed was good friends with the queen.
A few hours later, Henry catches his wife talking bad about Y/n to her ladies in waiting…. I guess we who is going on the chopping board next.
Meanwhile, the brother, still very frightened, was in yandere Henry’s bed getting cuddled by his yandere nieces and nephew.
Sorry if that was long I just really like that idea, plus we need more brother Y/n and male best friend Y/n with Henry. Oh and the queen might be Kathrine Howard.
Tumblr media
The woman who was executed was a close friend of Queen Katherine Howard. That's why Katherine is both angry and upset. The poor reader is sitting in his bed trying to forget the execution scene. His nephews hug his and comfort his. Meanwhile, Henry witnesses his wife talking badly about the reader. The next person to be executed is the Queen. Henry will not allow anyone to speak ill of his brother.

See you reblogging a post asking people to discuss fanfic process and thought
(๑・̑◡・̑๑) 👀
You know that plant angst TikTok trends? (Jupiter was a failed star, Venus was the plant of love,) what character in curled up would fit that trend?
Also, what is your thoughts process on certain scenes or events? Do you just write them as soon as you get the idea, or plan them? (Like that bathroom scene with Alejandro and Noah hanging out together, or the Gwen and Berger being drunk and Noah watching them? (Side note that moment lives rent free in my head))
Also what made you add the icurus mythology plot line? Was it because of the vibes or because no other Greek mythology would work specifically for these dramatic nerds?
Ok byeeeeee (´∀`)
hello!! honestly omg I had to think about the planet trend because i wasn't entirely sure if any of them would fit them completely, but I think Gwen as 'venus planet of love was destroyed by global warming' fits pretty well! i think noah would think of himself like the moon that's light is just the refection of the suns, but i'm not sure about anyone else omg, feel free to lmk if you have any opinions on this!!
when it comes to the actual writing bits, I try to plan out most of the important scenes before I write them! for example, in the dinner party chapter, i knew that I wanted Gwen and Heather to have their little romantic moment, and for that to lead into Alejandro and Noah having their moments on the balcony and in the bathroom, (as well as like an izzy and gwen reunion moment & the noah and gwen bathroom scene but they aren't that important lmao) so i planned out a those scenes before I started the chapter and kind of filled the rest of it in like a puzzle!
its probably not the most efficient way to do it, but i'm not really aiming for perfect and its pretty fun! so i enjoy it haha
i think the reason I included the Icarus myth was because I had just finished a second read of the iliad when i started writing curled up like a pill bug, and I had just bought a copy of ovids metamorphoses the day i published the first chapter lmao. I really liked the idea of including one of my interests in a fic about one of my other interests, so it was really just a matter of choosing a myth omg!
I didn't want it to be something obviously extremely tragic (like achilles and patroclus, or honestly a lot of greek myths specifically about love) because I wanted to kind of portray how much Noah was overthinking everything, and I wanted one that I could kind of mould into the story as i moved along, and i thought it fit pretty well haha (I also just thought it would be a fun thing to write about lmao)
i hope these are good answers omg!!! sorry for the late response ive been wicked sick lmao
NEW CHAPTER OUT SOON BTW and it's CRAZY omg!! :))

Arendelle Castle Rooms: Part 6 | Analysis
Frozen Fever rooms covered in part 5. So now we move to Olaf's Frozen Adventure. We begin with Kristoff's barn, then the council chambers and next, Elsa and Anna's parents room.
1. Kristoff's barn
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ref: Kristoff making stew in 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure' | End of 'Frozen')
It's really lovely to see Kristoff having his own barn in his future wife's or at this stage, current girlfriend's home. It's really sweet and welcoming bearing in mind it's been only 5 months since the events of Frozen. And this barn is on the left side of the castle because as Kristoff leaves the barn, you can see the view of the entrance of the main castle building and the inside right hand corner as seen above.
And now we can finally move onto the rooms featured in Frozen 2.
2. The council chambers
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ref: Concept art | Hans lies to the council about Anna's death in 'Frozen' | "Into the unknown" in 'Frozen 2' | "I am with you" on YouTube | End of "Into the unknown" in 'Frozen 2')
The room where council meetings and the Queen's formal parties take place. The room where Hans lied to the Duke of Wellington and the others about Anna dying in his arms.
In Frozen 2 we see the return of the room when Elsa sings "Into the unknown". However there are major furniture changes to it, most being barely any. Also new paintings of the new family and of her old family have been hung up in the room.
In a song on YouTube, there's a song released 3, years called "I am with you" where Olaf writes to Elsa showing us how much he misses her. And when Olaf sends his letter to gale to give to Elsa he steps on the balcony - But! - There is an error here because the balcony is of the room below, not of the conference room. The concept art of the conference room above, shows what the balcony of the room looks like. We can also see the two paintings featured on Frozen 2 behind Olaf, of the room he's in.
At the end of the song when Elsa unleashes the crystals of the four elemental spirits waking them up (along with the rest of Arendelle lol), Anna wakes up and looks out to witness these crystals in the air. But there seems to be a continuity error somewhere. The background behind Anna, brightened up, is of the bedroom they were in but the balcony doesn't match as I analyse is below. Instead the balcony looks more like a combination of the one in the conference room and their parents room; the structure/ length and the panels of the window of the balcony matches their parents room and and the pillars on the side of it match that of the conference room. Animators probably wanted to show Anna looking out from their parents bedroom window because she was sleeping in that room but they probably forgot the pillars in front of the balcony lol.
So swap Olaf's and Anna's balcony and rooms and they'll match up.
Then we have the balcony Elsa in on, in "Into the unknown" (due to the image limit I can't show you in this post unfortunately - see part 9/ the final part for full construction of it all). The balcony windows look different and the pillars aren't identical but in general it's very close. So I believe that the design of that balcony is a continuity error and that it's actually the same balcony we first see Elsa on in the second (full length) movie. There's a particular painting behind them in both balcony scenes that match up. That painting and the two new paintings of the family are hung up in the council chambers room. Other evidence that shows the two balconies are the same room is that on Elsa's right side when standing on the balcony, you can see the cliffs of Arendelle.
I have located where the council chambers room is in the castle, and it's on the east side of the castle.
3. Elsa and Anna's parents room
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ref: "Some things never change" in 'Frozen 2' | Elsa and Anna in their parents room in 'Frozen 2' | End of 'Frozen')
About this room, we know that Elsa and Anna's room have one triangular window and that their room structures are the same as each other's. Yet this room has the same door pattern and wallpaper pattern, even the bed heading pattern as Elsa's. Yet the location of this is the east side of the castle and the windows are rectangular. So I've come to the conclusion that this is their parents room but Elsa moved to their parents room. This is the first time we see Agnarr and Iduna's bedroom so we don't know if the patterns of their room were always the same as Elsa's. At the beginning of Frozen 2, we see Elsa on the balcony and the room seems to be the same given the door so we can say this balcony with the triangular roof goes with their parents room. The windows also match up. And seeing close-ups of the front of the castle, the balcony structure is exactly the same as the one in the circled image the windows also match up too. That would mean that their parents room is directly below Anna's room. However, the back of the castle is almost identical to the front. It could be that the parents room is at the back but I don't think so because one, as king and Queen they wouldn't want a back view of Arendelle but rather the front where they can their people too, two because when Elsa was born her room was made below theirs and when Anna came along she was in that room too and finally, because when Elsa looks out in "Somethings never change", she sees the bridge between her castle and the kingdom which is at the front of the castle.
In a book, it confirms that Elsa was living in her parents room instead of her own one. In 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure (OFA)' , it doesn't show either one of the sisters rooms, except for Anna's but very briefly and with continuity issues as explained in part 1 of these breakdowns. In 'Frozen Fever', which despite releasing before 'OFA', is canon to be set a year after 'Frozen', we do see Anna's room in a better view. In the Short, we learn that Anna still sleeps in her room, and at the end of the short we see Elsa does too as Anna feeds her a cold remedy. But in 'Frozen 2', Elsa is in her parents room so it's probably that after Anna's birthday she felt something was missing, and missed her parents more and moved to her parents room. Though I don't think she would have moved her bed or changed the wallpaper or the door but I think that it was just to make it clear to us, the viewers that she's in that room now.
Now for the other rooms in part 7.

so long post warning but ive spent hours going through every single goncharov post and here’s a plot summary for anyone who can’t find the movie online. just focusing on the main characters and not going into the heavy dialogue moments (most of the film). feel free to add on or correct me
goncharov and his wife katya move to naples, italy after goncharovs father dies and goncharov assumes his place as head of the family. his father dies because of a bad play he made (he’s a high ranking russian mob boss) causing a different mob boss to send his hit man, ice pick joe, after him. after killing goncharovs father ice pick joe is to kill goncharov and his whole family to eliminate the gonacharovs from the russian mafia entirely.
gonacharov and his wife flee to naples to a safe house his father had prepared. ice pick joe follows them. it’s worth noting that ice pick joe kills with an ice pick because he was given a lobotomy against his will and it’s a way of taking his power back. he’s the only character in the film who seems happy, and it’s heavily implied that this is because he’s accepted that he can’t have a happy ending.
goncharov starts methodically working his way through the ranks of the italian mafia and the process is bloody. he develops a very close friendship with a man named andrea, whom goncharov nicknames andrey. andrey wears an eyepatch. that’s not actually notable but it’s for visualization purposes. we get a lot of ‘moving up the mafia ranks’ fill stuff with andrey and gonchrov. it’s obvious that they’re very close. andreys backstory is revealed that he has been working odd jobs for mob bosses because he is in debt with one of them and his fathers life is being threatened unless he pays it off. goncharov has promised to repay andreys debt but as the movie wears on it’s obvious that andrey is starting to doubt him. they have a lot of dialogue heavy scenes where they talk about the meaning of life and love and other things. they both envy the other
meanwhile katya develops a close relationship with sofia, a rich widow. katya is also getting her hands dirty, like her husband, because she is just as invested in the family. it’s arguable that she is more invested than her husband. she’s shown to be the plan-maker and go-getter in the relationship. sofia thinks she can save katya from her life of crime (total white knight complex, but it’s well done) there’s a scene at a pool party that’s incredibly sapphic and hints that sofia is in love with katya. katya is planning the murder of [guy who is obstructing goncharovs success] but when she attempts to kill him (with an ice pick no less! to frame it on ice pick joe!) sofia follows her.
[guy who is obstructing gonchrovs success] gets the upper hand and is going to kill katya and out the gonchrov to the russian mafia when sofia steps in and kills him by stabbing him in the neck. sofia and katya then clean up the murder and dispose of their bloody clothes. in the next scene they’re on the balcony of sofias manor when sofia announces she’s leaving italy in the morning and that katya should come with her. katya denies because she’s too committed to goncharov and doesn’t know who she is separate from the family. at this point we get back story that katya was taken in my the goncharovs when she was ~12 and her parents were brutally murdered. she’s says “maybe in another life, my love” and sofia kisses her cheek and leaves.
simultaneously with that plot, ice pick joe has contacted andrey and offered a ridiculous amount of money if he reveals goncharovs identity at this ball they’re all going to be at. katya is planning to murder [guy obstructing the goncharovs success] while the ball is going on. andrey betrays gonchrov with none other than the classic judas-jesus kiss on the cheek situation. he’s shown to regret this immediately and panics and tells goncharov they have to leave.
away from the ball, in the courtyard of the manor, where andrey takes goncharov “get away for a few minutes” ice pick joe appears and thanks andrey for his help. there’s a fantastic scene showing goncharovs emotions at the betrayal before ice pick joe starts attacking goncharov. (for context this scene is happening at the same time as katinyas struggle with [guy obstructing success]) while gonchrov struggles with ice pick joe andrey stands there, very conflicted, until ice pick joe gets the upper hand. at this point andrey tackles him and through the struggle gonchrov pulls out his gun and shoots. the screen cuts to black. a second shot sounds
in the next scene goncharov and katya reunite, both blood splattered and worn. katya cries into his shoulder whilst he stares detachedly at the grandfather clock in his house. previous lines of dialogue play over the scene of looking at the clock. its very movie. it’s worth mentioning that the entire movie up to this point has been cut with scenes of the clock ticking. gonchrov and katya have the Mandatory Sex Scene and throughout it it shows that they’re both thinking about sofia and andrey, respectively
through these thoughts it’s revealed that goncharov shot andrey after shooting ice pick joe and he did so out of love because he knew a worse fate would follow a man who double crossed his best friend and then double crossed the person who payed him to double cross him
the movie ends with katya and goncharov taking over the italian mafia, deeply unhappy.
**in an alternate version of the story, andrey becomes so enraged in his resentment that he attempts to murder goncharov and goncharov kills him to put him out of his misery.
**there’s also something about a boat

Because it's there ~ Tommy Shelby One Shot
Tumblr media
[Masterlist] [Taglist]
Summary: At one of Ada's parties, Tommy has an interesting conversation. Also Tommy's a bit fruity in this though not necessarily more than canon
Note: Told a few tales about this guy and now I've dreamt about him for three nights in a row now so this is a gratuitous self-serving attempt to get this man out of my system
All my writing is produced by an adult and created with an adult audience in mind (18/21+). You are responsible for your own media consumption. I do not consent to my work being translated, copied or posted elsewhere on this platform or any other.

Tommy hated everything about this.
He hated the music that was blaring from a gramophone, some sensory torture they now called music.
He mistrusted Ada’s guests, a host of flamboyant Bohemians she had plucked off the streets of London. If he had known his sister would open a madhouse for the peculiars in the capitol, he’d have bought her a house between a nunnery and a church, but here he was, surrounded by artists, writers, poets and socialites and he truly doubted any one of them had truly worked a day in their life.
They were acting like they didn’t, with their newer, more daring styles.
Some men had let their hair grow long while some women had chopped it short - and others wore trousers and suspenders much to the delight of both men and women gathered.
But of course this wretched gathering of eccentrics enjoyed it all, the expensive food they gobbled up as if there was no tomorrow, washing it down with that milky green mixture they seemed to brew more than pour.
Absinth - some fashionable drink that had crossed the channel from Paris and Berlin.
It was an awful fuss - there was a large basin with four little taps sat on the table and people placed their glasses with a bit of liquor underneath but instead of mixing it with water straight, one had to place a little tray over it, with a sugar cube on top only to have to wait until the water would - not pour - down in an agonisingly slow pace until it dissolved the cube and created that cloudy drink that could fog a mind more than any other.
Tommy instead, stuck to his whisky. It was less fuss and more reliable.
But still, he had no intention of getting drunk tonight, although that would make all this more bearable, but Ada had asked him to be here and she was about the only person he would suffer through this for.
She was having a blast, loudly discussing the role of women with some sharp-nosed brunette.
She was probably someone important, but Tommy couldn’t place her.
He was sure he had the names of at least two thirds of these people in the papers, and had skipped half the articles because he had no time to waste on these starlets of the London scene.
In a moment of being unnoticed he took his glass and snuck outside on the balcony.
London was a city that never slept, never rested, but even the stinking, smoking air of the city was better than the stuffy haze of shared breath and cigarette smoke had created inside.
Compared to that, this was almost refreshing.
With a sigh he placed his glass on the banister and reached inside his jacket to retrieve his cigarette case and lighter.
As he flicked the flame to life, the reflection caught the glimmer of something metal in the darkness out of the corner of his eye and he turned, realising he wasn’t alone.
In the moonlight it wasn’t too difficult to make out the outline of another man, one who seemingly didn’t mind the risk of sitting atop the banister, one leg drawn up, the other dangling over the edge.
“Cities have their advantages, but when it comes to their skies, it’s nothing but a bloody shame.”, he mused, before looking at Tommy for confirmation.
He remembered the man, recalling he had arrived with the writer Starchey a little later than the others.
Tommy guessed he was about his own age, give or take a few years, and undoubtedly a handsome man.
He was taller than he was, with a lanky build, though his limps were strangely harmoniously shaped. There wasn’t much muscle he could see under his clothes, but as far as he could tell not an ounce of fat either.
He had the kind of hair that looked to have been blonde in his youth and only darkened with age and he had the kind of face that looked as if had been carved from marble.
He had a shapely nose and didn’t suffer from the English affliction of overly thin lips, but his eyes were the most striking feature - large and pale, like a full moon reflecting on the lake.
There were the first signs of age on his face, though Tommy wasn’t sure if they made him more or less likely to become a muse of a painter or two back inside the house. Either way, they did nothing to dull the youthfullnes in his eyes, nor the sharpness in his gaze.
The flame of his lighter, he realised, must’ve reflected off of the man’s watch.
He was dressed to the nines, in simple colours, but Tommy knew by now the look of expensive clothes, and yet the watch he wore was the standard edition one handed out to every man back in the war. Since he had heard his fair share of illusioned pacifist rhetoric back there, he was more than glad to be in the company of someone who had not only served, but made no attempt to hide the fact, even in present company.
That instantly made him appreciate the man more than any other he had encountered.
“True.”, Tommy mumbled under his breath as he retrieved his silver cigarette case once more, holding it out to the man.
He declined with a smooth shake of the head.
“I’m more of a pipe man myself.”, he admitted before letting his eyes trail back towards the sky.
Compared to the country, one didn’t see half as many stars, Tommy thought.
When he looked back, the other man was looking at him curiously.
“Everyone’s devlishly curious about you, you know?”, he said.
Tommy shifted his weight, glancing back at the room. He had never liked attention, and with this crowd - well - the man he was talking to had come with Starchey, and that man had a reputation. He doubted his companion would be any differend.
“I’m not -ah- like that...”, he admitted, clearing his throught as he brought the cigarette to his lips, wondering just what Ada had told them.
The man chuckled under his breath.
“Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it, man.”, he said, unable to hide the amusement in his voice. “But don’t worry, I don’t have time for anymore distractions in the near future.”
Of all the things Tommy had been called, curses and praise, a distraction was a new one.
“And that’s not what I meant either.”, the man continued, dropping his leg and shifting so he had on the edge of the banister facing Tommy, his back to nothing but thin air and the darkness behind him.
“Everything is baffled by the rise - a gypsy boy from Birmingham clawing his way up to, well,”, he waved around, “Primrose Hill in what? Three years?”
Tommy only stared at him, wondering what he was aiming at. He already had a hinting suspicion.
They might accept Ada, she shared their politics, communism and the like, those ideals that feined interest of the poor but were only truly carried by the rich and privileged, and because a woman.
At the same time Tommy was only the man who had climbed above his station, and far too high for some.
His glare only ever made the other man smile.
“And your sister, well, she thinks you are like a bloodhound, always running after the scent of blood - or in your case - money; never content with what you have, always continuing the chase, always wanting more.”
Tommy scoffed and shook his head.
He had heard that accusation a thousand times over, from Arthur, and John, from Esme and Polly - and now Ada. Funny how all the people who profited most off of his hard work, and his sacrifice.
“You’ll get used to it.”, the man said.
“What?”, Tommy asked, leaning closer to make sure he heard him correctly.
“You’ll get used to it.”, he promised. “Them not understanding, them questioning, them doubting.”
His pale eyes met Tommy’s.
“Most people don’t understand why one can not just want something but work towards it no matter the consequences, no matter the risks, that we need the challenges, the struggles, not to conquer them but to conquer ourselves over and over again.”
He smirked to himself as if he had just told Tommy a secret joke.
“They don’t understand why we can still desperately want something even if we do not need it, and are willing to do anything to get it just because it’s there for us to take.”
A cloud of smoke escaped his lips and evaporated in the air between them.
“Who are you?”, Tommy asked, a frown between his brows.
“Don’t you know?”, the man asked, genuinely surprised.
He shook his head, and to his surprise, and maybe a little hint of relief, the other man didn’t seem to be insulted.
“Well you’ll find out soon enough.”
“Will I?”, Tommy asked. “Why?”
He only smiled.
“You’ll see.”, he promised.
At that moment there was a shout coming from inside.
“In a bit!”, the man shouted back, stopping in his tracks to look at Tommy once more, a soft smile on his lips.
“Do you know what a Sherpa is, Shelby?”
“No.”, he said truthfully.
“Hm - thought so.”, he said with a smirk. “They’re a peoples, exemplary Darwinists if you’d ask me.”
Tommy hadn’t but that didn’t deter the man.
“They have live in the mountains for generations now, and so while the rest of us flatlanders are like a bunch of panting dogs at a certain altitude, they hardly feel a thing.”
“Alright.”, Tommy mumbled, not knowing what to do with this information, and not particularly caring about it either.
“They are adapted, you see? Because that is their world, the world their people have been born into for generations and so they can do with ease what can prove treacherous for most anyone else.”
His eyes met Tommy’s with renewed intensity.
“Everyone is adapted to the environment they are born into, Shelby, and when you rise above that, the air gets thinner and thinner but only for those not used to it.”
Tommy’s gaze narrowed, watching the moon play tricks on the other man’s face.
“Are you saying I don’t belong here?”, he asked sharply. “That just because I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in me mouth I’d keep to Birmingham and Birmingham only?”
The other man’s face split into a wide smirk.
“You misunderstand me Shelby, you truly do.”, he said, his voice as light as if they were old pals sharing a joke.
“I may be one of the very few people here - if not in this entire city who neither resents nor riidicules you for what you’ve done and for what you plan to do. Like I said, you and I are more similar than you’d know.”
He leaned in, so close that Tommy could smell his cologne and the natural, earthy smell of his woolen jumper.
“So let me give you some advice - hope and will can only carry you a step or two but if you want to truly reach the top you need to learn your own limitations if you want to adapt or overcome them.”
He drew back and met his gaze for a final time.
“And if you don’t you’ll find yourself in bloody big trouble.”

Genuine Beer in 9-1-1
There’s been a lot of talk about the Genuine beer that Buck and Eddie keep drinking, so I thought I’d make a post about it! But if we're talking about Genuine beer, I think it's only fair that we look at all of the other beer they use in the show too.
Just a quick note before we start: I don't think their prop department makes any of these. There are vendors that specialize in making props like this, and at least five of these come from the same company.
9-1-1 has a lot of commonly recurring brands of prop beer. They tend to use multiple brands at a time for variety, peaking at six used throughout 3b. There's also a bunch of one-offs they've only used once or twice that I didn't bother including here, and there's some that they've only used in the backgrounds, but I couldn't really read the labels.
They didn't really use prop beer bottles until Hen Begins (2.09), halfway through season 2. Most of the characters are shown drinking wine until Buck, Actually (2.08), and aside from one scene at the end of 1.10, those who do drink beer use a glass.
So without further ado: the beers of 9-1-1.
Tumblr media
Blind Fox Ale is used mostly in seasons 2 and 3. As of 6.15, it's tied with Genuine for most uses, with main characters drinking it nine times. It's shown on screen even more in the background, and pops up in 5a when Michael's drinking one.
Tumblr media
Alexander’s Famous Ale was used in a two episodes during season 2: Chim drinks it twice in Chimney Begins (2.12) and Athena and Hen drink it in Ocean's 9-1-1 (2.15). Red was drinking it at the bar in The One that Got Away (3.16). It's frequently used in the background by extras.
Tumblr media
Grand Ale first popped up in Kids Today (3.01) and stayed through season 3. Chim drank it twice, Michael had it at a Grant-Nash family dinner, and Buck also drank it in Fools (3.12).
Tumblr media
Cerveza Extra was used mostly in season three. Chimney was drinking one at the party for Buck in Kids Today (3.01), Buck had one sitting in front of him at the end of The Searchers (3.03), Chimney was making his way through several in Seize the Day (3.11) and Buck has one in front of him during the party at Eddie's later that episode. Buck also served it to Connor in Peru in Buck Begins (4.05).
Tumblr media
Mendoza Lager was added in season 5 and these are the three times we've seen it: Buck drinks it in Outside Looking In (5.11) while the team is at the bar, he drinks it again on the balcony with Maddie in Starting Over (5.18), and in Tomorrow (6.06), Hen was drinking it when she first met Karen.
Tumblr media
Rio Negro has been used a few times, and so far, Eddie’s the only main character who drinks it. Lena had one with him at the junkyard fight in Rage (3.05), he had one or two at the bar in Seize the Day (3.11) (and extras were also holding it during the party at his house later that episode), and he also drank it in Texas with his family in Hero Complex (5.17). As far as I can tell, this is the only beer that's this character-specific.
Tumblr media
Tux’s Red Ribbon was used once in season 1 at the very end of A Whole New You (1.10), when Chim was hosting a party. I didn't notice it again until In Another Life (6.11), where it was the only brand of beer anyone drank in Buck's coma dream. I'm wondering if they used it in the coma dream because they don't normally use it, to subtly emphasize that things are wrong, or if we're going to see it again sometime soon.
Which brings me to Genuine.
The first time I found Genuine being used is back in Hen Begins (2.09). It’s in the scene where she goes out with Athena, Bethanne (the female cop), and Casey (the gay firefighter). She’s the only one at their table drinking Genuine, though Casey also has a beer in a pint glass. That extra behind her looks like they might have it too.
Tumblr media
Note: this isn't the only brand to be used once earlier and then resurrected later; Tux's was used once in season one, and then again in season 6.
After that the show used other brands and I didn’t see it again until Fear-a-Phobia (5.13) when Chim and Hen drink it during their reunion.
Tumblr media
Buck and Eddie drink it in Let the Games Begin (6.01).
Tumblr media
The guy who blew up his cheating neighbor in Crash & Learn (6.02) was drinking Genuine.
Tumblr media
Buck gave one to Connor in Recovery (6.12). It wasn’t in his fridge a few scenes before when Maddie was stocking it for him (meaningful or continuity error?).
Tumblr media
Eddie had it in his fridge later in Recovery and grabbed two for him and Buck, but drank both himself when Buck fell asleep.
Tumblr media
Buck and Eddie were both drinking one while helping Chris with homework in Mixed Feelings (6.13).
Tumblr media
And Eddie had it again at the poker game. (Many of the extras around them were also drinking Genuine.)
Tumblr media
Eddie also had it in his fridge while on the phone with his mom in 6.15, and it's still there when he calls her again at the end.
Tumblr media
It's shown in Maddie and Chimney's fridge at the end of 6.16.
Tumblr media
All that kind of makes it seem like we're seeing it a lot more often lately, like maybe it's a sign of something building. Of the three beer brands we've seen the main characters drink in season 6, Genuine shows up the most by a wide margin. Mendoza Lager has only been in one scene, and Tux's in two (both in the coma dream).
So is it a sign of something being genuine? Uncovering something genuine? Their prop beer budget got cut and they can only afford one brand? Just the latest favorite in their rotation of prop beers and it doesn't mean anything at all? You be the judge!
(It seems like they try to cycle through brands for the core seven characters to drink every season or two. The ones that were most prevalent in seasons 2 and 3 still occasionally pop up in the background in later seasons, especially in bar scenes, or for characters like Michael and Red. And once you notice them, then you too might find yourself pointing excitedly when you spot a rogue Alexander's Famous Ale on a passing server's tray for the first time in two seasons.)
Bonus unrelated discovery from my search: Back in Hen Begins, Hen had the frog sponge holder first.

S4 Trailer Timeline Breakdown
Let’s do this + spoilers for all of episode one from the twitter thread at SDCC.
4x01 is Callum’s birthday and Viren’s revival day. It establishes Callum waiting on a book of rune translations from Lux Aurea, likely to try to decipher more about the mirror. Ezran states that Zubeia and Zym will be arriving in Katolis, and Janai proposes to Amaya. She accepts. Out on the balcony, Callum looks up at the moon and we see that he is still in love with Rayla.
Thus, things that are from 4x01 are as follows:
Any scene with Claudia and Viren in the cave
Ezran’s council meeting
Janai and Amaya looking at each other happily
The failed birthday party
Callum out on the balcony
Then we move into what I’ll call 4x02 territory:
Phyrrah (red dragon from s2 and s3) as well as Zubeia arriving in Katolis for Ezran’s meeting.
Tumblr media
Which doesn’t go especially well, as Ezran makes this speech in the Valley of Graves, likely because 1) it’s big enough to house Zubeia, who’s there, and 2) because it was on her orders that Harrow died, and Ezran is trying to bridge that gap / hurt (since the gift he had made for Zubeia, maybe even by Callum, has seemingly been vandalized) and it’s sunset. This probably isn’t the very next day since it would take time even for a dragon to fly, so it could be up to a week later post-4x01, say.
Tumblr media
Also in the early days we see Terry seemingly having braided Claudia’s hair, which she has for the majority of the rest of the trailer / season, even if they seem to be somewhere more metal than Storm Spire-y. I’m guessing they start out in Drakewood and then work their way across.
Tumblr media
Also likely in 4x02 is the scene with Amaya with the Sunfire elves, including Janai and her future brother-in-law, Prince Karim.
Tumblr media
A human is about to be punished, possibly due to stealing a Sunfire artefact (hence bandages wrapped around burned hands) with Janai supposed to dole out traditional Sunfire punishment. I think given the shot misdirect and Amaya’s worry, Janai will choose to free and spare the human, prompting her brother’s ire and kicking off their political plotline for S4.
Tumblr media
On that note, the lack of crowd in the shot below while still having spectators make me think that perhaps Karim has challenged Janai to a one-on-one combat duel for the throne and ‘fate’ of their people. In the far left we see who appears to be Miyana under the mask, part of the Six Horns, who was revealed at SDCC 2021.
Then, post-4x02 we have what seems to be what I’m going to call the Ibis Time Thread, as it / his staff / Callum having his staff is one of the clearest through lines the trailer has. We see him and Claudia squaring off in what seems to be the Storm Spire, as it was the last place Viren’s staff was and that seems to be what they’re fighting over, and Claudia’s hair is braided back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we see Claudia and Ibis having a second encounter in a different space. It may be another part of the same area (just without the gold coins) as a continuation of the first fight, or another encounter entirely. It seems Aaravos has had her wait until now to retrieve her father’s staff, given that her hair is braided and half white in both shots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This means that Claudia needs Viren’s staff, likely as a component for Aaravos to get out of his mirror. If one of Aaravos’ former gifts / relics can be an important component in freeing him, it seems that can be doubly so for the Cube as the Key of Aaravos. (We’ll circle more back to Aaravos’ bits later.)
Tumblr media
Sometime after the fight with Claudia, we see the kids holding what’s clearly a funeral for Ibis, with Callum conducting one of the spells and holding Ibis’ staff.
Tumblr media
However, arguably the most important piece of information here (to me) is that Rayla is with the three boys in this shot, and with her little pet creature, Stella, on her shoulder. This means from this point on in the season (likely mid-S4) Rayla has not only reunited with the boys but possibly travelled with them from Katolis to the Storm Spire again.
Tumblr media
Here we see Zym at what appears to be the Great Gates (possibly to Rex Igenous’ chambers, the Earth dragon at the very end of the trailer) and in Ez and Zym’s poster, so it seems that while the group is there, it’s mostly centred on the young king and his platonic soulmate.
Tumblr media
Possibly in their path to get to Rex Igneous, we see Callum use his scarf to douse the light (maybe light attracts the creatures) which is easier said than done when Bait is a glow toad, and this kicks off the battle there with Callum using lightning to protect his little friend.
Tumblr media
We also know that Rayla is with the boys and what appears to be a smaller Earthblood child here, since we can see the three fold of her tunic as well as her hip-thigh pouch that holds Stella as Zym flies up to seemingly call a bit of a lightning storm to protect his friends.
Tumblr media
Soren, however, is most notably absent (maybe stuck in another area, like the one with the rocks in his solo shot?). Rayla also has both her blades!
Tumblr media
Zubeia getting pissed on her baby’s behalf and when we see those creatures earlier, Callum has Ibis’ staff with him and Ezran. This means either they’re not friendly at first and Zubeia steps in / destroys them, or that she gets them to settle down and the boys manage to have a conversation. Again, we know presumably as soon as Callum gets his staff, any scene where he has that is also one that Rayla will be in (just about).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then of course, we have Rayla showing in Katolis with Stella in tow, who quickly grabs the cube and has an affinity with the Star arcanum (given that her name literally means “star,” too) in a perfect parallel of when she and Callum first met. That more than anything makes me think this is real rather than an illusion, but I wonder what’s made Rayla feel safe enough to come back - what proof has she found of Viren’s death after all this time, after all?
Tumblr media
Then we have a shot of her outrunning some kind of drake-riding Earthblood elf and with her pouch, but it’s void of Stella. She seems to be purposefully baiting him and trying to create some kind of diversion.
Tumblr media
Some very keen eyed people have pointed out that she’ll likely fall after this clip, as one of her hands (her one that used to have the binding, I think) slipped and missed slightly, meaning she’ll dangle and then hoist herself up.
Tumblr media
It also makes me wonder, what, exactly, Rayla has found to convince her to come back to Katolis. She’d need irrefutable proof Viren was dead and she could’ve found the empty chrysalis, but she probably would’ve assumed as a result that Viren had simply chosen to leave it. So I’ll be curious as how that gets explained and addressed.
I also think that because she’s seemingly 1) fine and 2) returning of her own accord for their first reunion at least, Callum will be pretty furious with her because he’ll have room to be furious at her. Whether that’ll be in their first scene together or a bit later remains to be seen.
Finally I want to address the few remaining trailer shots / scenes I haven’t so far, namely:
Tumblr media
An eye i think might belong to Rex Igneous and a wider shot of his hoard that matches where we see Ibis and Claudia initially fighting. It’s also hard to tell in the shot below but it almost looks like maybe it isn’t the trio and/or the two groups are together, with Ezran almost standing by Viren (as he’s the main figure we’ve seen clothed distinctly in all white) even if it’s a bit too blurry to tell entirely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are also the shots of Aaravos blowing a kiss at the camera, the aforementioned Callum as a pawn with the cube shot, the shot of Aaravos being displeased, and Callum cradling Rayla’s blades. I wondered if, after the Viren as a pawn clip, if the person as a pawn might change in every episode’s intro in S4. Now I wonder if we’ll get three mini arcs: the first with Viren as the pawn, and then the second and third arcs with Claudia and Callum as the pawn in some kind of order (like the key art, since “everything is going according to plan” for Aaravos). I could also see it changing every episode and then having the final episode intro being Aaravos blowing the kiss with the mirror shattering while he sits calmly (we’ve never seen him sit before) as it felt very winkwink nudgenudge to the audience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We know that whatever vexes Aaravos cannot be permanent, since he gets out of the mirror this season 100%. I’m also curious, if Callum and Rayla reunite fairly early on, what Callum is doing dark magic for. I still think he’ll have to build a connection with Aaravos before she comes back, but maybe not, even if the light-dark symbolism we’re getting supports it: Callum is angry, alone, and enshrouded with darkness, whereas Rayla’s head is haloed by the moon, giving her more positive light connotations (the way the show always has).
I do think though that the near the end of the season, perhaps while trying to stop Aaravos or something else with Ezran, Rayla will be forcefully dragged away from her blades, and Cube Hostage Exchange Theory (Callum exchanging the cube to Aaravos for her life) could happen, as it was always an “end of the season / final arc” specific prediction over the season as a whole.
Unless Rayla is an illusion carried by Aaravos through little Stella for the season long term, only to reveal the real Rayla all along has been having a truly terrible time (maybe Callum thinking something with Rayla is wrong, the others write him off as letting his hurt feelings cloud his judgement)... there still has to be a Narrative reason for Rayla’s absence to be relevant. I don’t think she would’ve come back if there was a significant problem (she wants to keep Callum safe from dying for her) and we know they are separated again with their aged up designs...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something circa, “I just got her back, I am not losing her again” before he hands it over, per se.
And I think that’s everything, but I’m sure I’ll update / add even more thoughts as I go along, with only a little over three weeks before s4 airs! Aaah
