I thought I was the only one tired of all the untagged r*nance in steddie/gen fic! I have them filtered out on ao3 for a reason, so why I'm still seeing it? I know not everyone is a stobin first, but I am. so for me it's unthinkable to even imagine Robin dating Nancy (or Steve dating Tammy/Vicki). they would never break the girl/bro/bff code like that😔
untagged relationships get to me in general I just don't like getting jump scared altho I have to say I empathise/sympathise with the ronancers it's hard out there for a wlw ship and they have to do deal with sooo much more untagged steddie and also just. actually this fic with the ronance tag is actually just steddie :)) a common problem for popular side ships unfortunately. but it does annoy me bc I don't ship it and a lot of really good steddie or gen fics just have it now. oh well its just fanfiction
I think Ive said this before but it's not necessarily the bff code violation of it all that gets to me with ronance it's the way that it always seems to be a non issue. like robin sometimes gets anxious over his reaction but Steve never gets upset about it or has many feelings about it in general besides oh im so happy my best friend has fallen in love with someone and ofc it was with Nancy bc everyone falls in love with Nancy and I think im supposed to think its some sort of trope subversion like when Steve didn't really say anything when Nancy "chose" Jonathan bc it's like oh look the thing u thought would be a problem and cause jealousy and emotional conflict actually didn't! which. yeah okay whatever. I happen to like problems. and sometimes im like are we going to explore how Steve folds like a house of cards if he thinks that it will cause the least conflict even if he's like dying inside? and then we don't bc he's busy getting dicked down by Eddie. and also I think Nancy is painfully straight but that's by the by
part of it is also me just not vibing with the pair the spares thing that happens in fandom a lot. like there's a popular pairing and then ppl are like well what are we going to do with the rest of them? and they just start pairing them off and if there's like one left over they get thrown into a throuple or something. like how after s3 harringrove shippers started shipping robin with heather so that nobody was alone. it just makes me wonder how much thought is being put into the shipping...idk. at the end of the day wanting everyone to have a romantic happy ever after isn't necessarily a bad thing I just think it's boring. and I obviously don't have an inside look as to why something I don't ship is popular bc well. I don't read it. so maybe there's a lot of very compelling reasons and characterisations or whatever for whatever pairing that im just not seeing. even if the compelling reason is just hot girls should kiss

In The Bleak Midwinter
Set in Winter, Year 1. Dawn gives Elliott the first of many pomegranates. Literary chit-chat and Dawn’s backstory ensue.
TW for discussions of past ableism.
Dawn stomped the snow off of her boots as she entered the library, opening her backpack to pull out the books she’d brought. “Here you go,” she said as she set them on the counter.
Gunther frowned at them. “Where did you find these?”
“In the dirt,” Dawn said, waving her hand vaguely. “I cleaned them off the best I could, but I think they’ve been buried for a while.”
“Well, thank you for bringing them here,” Gunther said as he leafed through them, his brow furrowing as he saw the sorry state of some of the pages.
Dawn’s eyes darted to the right as she began to edge away from the desk. She peeked past the shelves, hoping that Elliott was here, as he often was on winter afternoons. Sure enough, he was seated by a bookshelf, his nose buried deep in a book.
“I’m just gonna check out the collection,” Dawn muttered as she wandered off in Elliott’s direction. She moved slowly, meandering her way towards him as she hoped that it wasn’t too obvious that he was the main reason she’d come here. She made a little more noise as she approached him, adjusting her backpack and clearing her throat when she was a few steps away. Sure enough, he looked up, his mouth curving into a small smile when he saw her.
“Hello Dawn,” he said. “What are you doing here?”
“Just dropping off some books I found,” she replied. “And—oh, while I’m here—I have something for you.”
She set her backpack on the floor and dug inside, praying that the fruit hadn’t been crushed. Dawn had been extra careful today, but the best-laid plans often went awry, especially with someone as klutzy as her.
Her hand closed around the fruit and she breathed an internal sigh of relief as she pulled the unpunctured pomegranate from her backpack. “Here,” she said as she handed it to him.
His brow furrowed. “How did you find this? It’s the middle of winter.”
“Fruit bats,” she said. “They leave things behind in my cave sometimes and I thought this might be something you like.”
Elliott’s hands closed around the fruit, a grin spreading across his face. “Dawn, this is a wonderful gift!” he said. “Thank you.”
She shrugged, trying not to show how pleased she was with his reaction. “I’m glad you like it,” she said. “Otherwise I’d need to find some other way to lure you to the underworld.”
Elliott chuckled at that. “So you’re a fan of mythology?” he asked.
“Oh, I adore it,” she said. “I was gonna major in it for my bachelor’s—or something close, like Classics or English—but that didn’t pan out.”
Elliott’s brow furrowed. “Why not?” he said. “If you don’t mind me asking.”
“Not at all,” Dawn said as she sat down beside him. “The plan was to get my associate’s at community college and then transfer to a four-year university for my bachelor’s. I was all ready for my first semester and it was great...for a whole two days. Then it all went to shit. I couldn’t focus, I was fucking up deadlines, and half the time I didn’t bring the right notebook to class. I flunked out at the end of the semester.”
She looked away from Elliott as she continued. “I thought I was just dumb and lazy, but my parents knew something was up. I wasn’t top of my class in high school, but I did all right and they never had to get on my case about schoolwork. Long story short, appointments happened, assessments happened, and I was diagnosed with ADHD.”
She ventured a glance up at Elliott, who was listening attentively, showing no signs of shock or distaste at her revelation. “But you went back to school, I assume?” he asked.
Dawn nodded. “I started at a different school next fall with the same plan,” she said. “I thought it’d be great—my meds were working well and I had accommodations that’d make taking tests easier for me—but that’s because I assumed that people would actually follow those.”
“But isn’t ignoring someone’s accommodations against school policy?” he asked. “And the law?”
“Oh yeah,” Dawn said. “Massive ADA violation. But it was a small school where most of the administration wanted to be somewhere else, so they didn’t give a whole lot of fucks about a freshman with an invisible disability. I got most of my profs to let me take my exams in a quiet room—which is what they were supposed to do anyways—but some of them didn’t. My fucking stats professor said he didn’t think I needed the quiet room because it always looked like I was paying attention in class, so I was probably just faking so I could cheat.”
“He actually said that?” Elliott asked, his eyes wide in horror.
“Yep,” Dawn replied. “I cried for hours that night because I started wondering if I was actually faking it. Never mind that I spent five hours being evaluated by a trained professional to make sure I actually had ADHD and not something else.”
“Where do they find these people?” Elliott muttered.
“The trash, presumably.”
Elliott laughed. “I can’t say I disagree,” he said. “Anyone who’d treat a student like that sounds like a pile of human refuse.”
“You can say that again,” Dawn replied. “Anyways, my mythology professor was the only one who actually did more than the bare minimum to help me and who helped me figure out what ways of studying and taking notes worked for me. She let me write an essay instead of doing a final exam, which was a huge help because I didn’t have to deal with the noisy exam room. We stayed in touch after I graduated and she even writes to me sometimes.”
Elliott reached out to lay a hand on her knee. “Well, I’m glad that there was someone who recognized how brilliant you are.”
“Aw, you’re sweet,” she said, ducking her head to hide the blush making its way up her neck. “I’m really not, though. I just got lucky that someone with a little compassion offered a class on my childhood hyperfixation.”
“Hmm,” he mused. “So I suppose you getting your associate’s was luck? And you managing to turn an unused plot of land into a thriving farm in less than a year is also luck?”
“Well yeah,” she said. “That and people helping me along. I wouldn’t even have the farm if it wasn’t for my grandfather.”
“But you’re the one who turned it into something again, Dawn,” he said, looking her directly in the eyes. “Without your planning and hard work, it would still be just an overgrown plot of land.”
“Okay fine, I’m the one who made the farm something,” Dawn said reluctantly. “But that doesn’t mean I’m brilliant.”
Elliott’s lips curved into a smile. “Oh, I beg to differ,” he said. “You’re brilliant, Dawn Abner. I only hope that someday you can see it for yourself.”
“All this because I gave you a pomegranate?” Dawn said half to herself.
“No, not at all,” Elliott said. “All this because it’s true.”
Dawn sighed. She knew that she was unnecessarily hard on herself, but that didn’t make taking a compliment any easier, especially if it came from a cute writer with the most gorgeous hair she’d ever seen. Still, she appreciated Elliott’s kindness, even if it was just because he pitied her.
“D’you mind if I stay a while?” she asked. “I could use a break from being out in the cold.”
Elliott smiled at her. “Please do,” he replied. “I’d love the company. And if you’re looking for reading material, I think there’s a collection of Ovid’s works somewhere around here.”
“Perfect,” Dawn said as she pulled herself up off of the floor. The library was still sparsely stocked, so she was able to find it quickly. She sat down beside Elliott and flipped through the book, looking for the start of whichever myth struck her fancy.
“Dawn?” he said softly.
She looked up, meeting his eyes. “Yeah?”
“I’m glad you ventured out here to see me.”
Dawn looked over at him and smiled. “So am I.”

1. Do they get together BEFORE MF possessing Billy or AFTER shit goes down? (Or maybe DURING😲)
Typically I say before, like at around Christmas time in ‘84. I think anybody in a small town puts aside character prejudices around the holidays and tries to make those connections with everyone, so I’ve always felt, especially since the fight was literally only a month before, that Steve would reach out to Billy the night of the Snowball and things would, well, snowball from there.
2. Who kisses who first?
Definitely Steve. I firmly stand by the hc that Billy’s never kissed a boy before Steve, and maybe Steve hasn’t either, but he’s the romantic, no way is he going to let Billy kiss him first.
3. Where do they have their first sex? (Location) (HJs and BJs count)
I don’t really have a solid answer for this? But definitely somewhere very spur of the moment, maybe somebody’s couch or the locker rooms?
4. Who says 💖 I LOVE YOU 💖 first?
Imma say Billy. Opposite of my last answer, I don’t feel like either of them would say they love each other on accident or like, in the moment. I think their first I love you’d would be very very controlled. I also think Billy has less experience with actually being in love, so when the time comes that he’s actually mustered up the courage to say it to Steve, I think he’s super nervous and practices the perfect scenario in his head a dozen times. It’s definitely not blurted out.
5. I believe this fandom is way past having hard feelings about it, so
BottomSteve! or BottomBilly?
I don’t have a strong opinion either way, but typically, I prefer bottom!Steve. No particular reason, that’s just the way I tend to read things!
6. Do they give gifts to each other?
Absolutely! Billy doesn’t have the disposable income to run out and buy Steve new things every time he wants to give him something, so I think he does a really cheesy like, giving him a kiss as a present and making a big deal out of it.
Steve is sort of the same way, in that he doesn’t like to give Billy material things, because he doesn’t want him to think he’s being pretentious or trying to hold his wealth over Billy’s head like he’s his mom or something, so he only gives Billy personal things. Old pilled t-shirts to wear to bed and a blanket to keep on the couch in his room that smells like him. Things like that.
They also try to make eachother things as presents, like food or little knick knacks in art class, but they always fail miserably and think it’s really funny when all they have to show is a smoking mess.
7. Where do they end up living? California, Chicago, Hawkins... Idk .. Alaska??)))) Any other location?
I honestly think they stay in Hawkins. I don’t think after everything Billy would be able to leave Max behind, and I also think that Steve would like having a connection to where he grew up, even if bad things happened there. If they did leave though, I see them going down south, maybe tourist trap Tennessee?
8. What are their future jobs?
In my mind that very much depends on if we’re following canon and this is post Starcourt or like, if it’s a whole new AU. Because after that I don’t think Billy would actually ever be physically well enough to work again. I know it’s a pretty unpopular opinion, bc the general hc is that he bounces back within a year or so with some scars (which is cool! I’m not knocking that I’m just sayin) but I think he'd be permanently disabled, on oxygen support 24/7, and just with all sorts of health complications from, you know, literally having a gaping hole in his chest, that would make it impossible for him to work. In that sort of scenario I usually think of Steve as a being teacher or an artist, something that he doesn’t have very long work hours or can do from home so he can be there to take care of Billy.
If we’re going with like, a no upside down or a Billy is never hurt au, I think he stays in Hawkins and just works in some sort of a mom and pop until he’s the new manager, like at an antique store maybe?
(p.s. stay tuned for an upcoming fic about Billy working in a fix-it shop!!)
As for Steve, I feel like he wouldn’t ever be able to settle on one career when he didn’t have limitations. I don’t really know what he’d eventually decide is his calling, maybe design of some sort? Jewelry making?
This is a hard question, I don’t really see them as being tied down to one career indefinitely, but I do know I don’t see either of them ever working desk jobs.
9. Who's a better cook?
Neither of them. Billy wasn’t allowed in the kitchen growing up because Neil said it’s a woman's place, and Steve is just god awful at following directions, like, can’t tell the difference between a teaspoon and a tablespoon or preheat the oven awful. They just eat takeout and like, cold sandwiches literally all the time until someone (Joyce) notices and teaches them how to cook on the weekends.
10. Steve Hargrove or Billy Harrington?
Billy Harrington. I don’t see him wanting to be a Hargrove anymore. He has no positive ties to the name with his mom leaving and his dad being his dad, so I think he’d want to take Steve’s last name. Also this is kinda weird but I am VERY particular about my middle name hcs (I think it’s an ocd thing? idk) and I have an alliterative name for Steve that wouldn’t work if he was a Hargrove instead of a Harrington, so that’s also part of the reason.
11. What's Max's reaction when she hears they're together?
I think probably just like, confusion. Not over Billy being with a boy, but over that boy being Steve. Like, she doesn’t know Steve well, but she knows he’s the responsible big brother to Dustin, and that’s the exact opposite of what her brother is like, so it catches her off guard. She’s definitely a little gossip though, wanting all the not-gross details about Steve from her brother. She’s basically just a little sister about it, I guess.
12. Describe in ONE SENTENCE Hopper's reaction when he hears the names Hargrove and Harrington mentioned together?
Not again.
13. Does Robin like Billy OR does Robin hate Billy?
I think she likes him. I have a little hc that she and him were together in an underground pre-gsa kinda thing in high school. She pretends she can’t stand him, but the two of them are quick best friends. (this might just be me but I think the two of them together would give statler and waldorf vibes)
14. What about Dustin?
Dustin I think actually thinks Billy is really cool. Like, he’s like a little double agent, hearing from Max all the annoying things about Billy, and from Steve the good things. He’ll gag if Steve gets too mushy over him and he’ll definitely join in with Max in calling Billy gross, and he also absolutely gives Billy a (very non-intimidating. he’s too soft) shovel talk, but I think he really likes and looks up to Billy as like, his other big brother.
15. Fav Harringrove AU?
Oh gosh, I can’t even pick. I think I like childhood friends aus best? They’re really fun to play with and it always ends up being super sweet. I’m a big fan of soulmates too for kind of the same reasons. I like mushy stuff.
16. Billy+Camaro=...??? (Not strictly Harringrove, but I can't not to ..)
I honestly don’t think Billy cares about the camaro that much. He’d be sad when it gets totaled because that was his only way of getting around and also his first car, but I don’t think the car itself has that much value to him. I mean, he treats it with absolutely zero respect, jumping curbs and driving too fast and slamming on those breaks. The camaro is just a car. 🤷🏻♀️

i don't do angsty endings bc i personally am writing fanfic for happy endings tbh but i WILL say the biggest angsty cliffhanger i've ever left my readers on was the end of ch 3 in do you like or like like me? i intended to go only a week between ch 3 and 4 but then didn't...so that's probably the angstiest i've ever left bughead if that makes sense lol

hmm, i feel like all my stories have happy endings! but maaaaaybe a merry little retail christmas, since they end up with their own bookstore and jughead proposing to a very surprised betty in said bookstore as he reveals they own it?

does my riverdale O.C. AU count as a crossover? bc if so then yes. also i really want to do a nace/bughead crossover at some point. @heartunsettledsoul and i have discussed this a tiiiiny bit but nothing specific.

not hate exactly, but i have gotten people kind of bluntly asking me to include particular characters in a fic that are either a) already in the tags or b) not in the tags for a reason, and that's not...my favorite thing, ngl.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
yes, yes i do! i guess i'm usually solidly in the M side of things rather than the E side, and it's typically equal parts horny and fluffy since it's always between characters who are ~in loooove! i did write a kink week oneshot entirely as an ode to the Satisfyer, a sex toy i highly recommend to anyone who owns a clit.

eek okay so it's ~possible~ i'll never finish love in the time of coronavirus bc idk if i want to/am capable of going back to that headspace of early pandemic but A L S O i maybe will? chapter 8, the only unfinished chapter, is supposed to be a time jump epilogue so you never know, an idea might inspire me to write it at some point in the future! maybe it's meant to be written at a point in the future that's ~actually post pandemic, you know? we shall see.
What’s your writing strengths?
oh god, this is a hard one. i feel like i'm good at dialogue? it's hard to self evaluate!
What’s your writing weaknesses?
describing people!!! why am i so bad at it? i'll never know. however i do think it's part of the appeal of fanfic for me, bc everyone kinda already knows what characters look like so you can get away with the least amount of physical character description more so than original fic.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don't really know any other languages besides English besides some rudimentary/faded italian and the amount of spanish you get in middle school, but if the character calls for it, like a stray Lodge family "mija" and such, i do that? but i think it's super cool when others who are bilingual, multilingual, etc. incorporate other languages!
What’s the first fandom you wrote for?
WAIT lmao @iconic-ponytail my answer is identical to yours: Harry Potter on fanfiction.net. For me, which is apparently unpopular in our fandom, it was all about Romione.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
hands down, do you like or like like me? it just captured a lot of things i've always wanted for high school bughead in that fic AND the process allowed me to get out a lot of angst and nostalgia about my high school years, which was super cathartic. and the fact that i seem to have produced something that a lot of people could relate to as former nerdy teen girls makes me really happy. Exhale is a close second favorite, and probably mainly because i have a lot of anxiety attached to Exhale bc i never update it as fast as ppl want me to.

Hey!! 👋🏽😄 I know you said in your last rant about SK8 and Reki and Renga that you were one of those people that always looks up and learns from others, but after your last Langa edit, I just wanted to remind you how immensely talented you are. I might have not seen your first attempts at editing, but I know how it looks like when you're barely starting something, and I'm sure everyone is proud of the progress you've made and many people looks up to you as the level of skill they want to achieve. You're doing amazing! 💖💖💖

ASDFSDFGHG that’s soooo sweet, thank you so much for saying this, it really means the world to me <3 Oh, haha I’ve deleted most of my old videos so it wouldn’t hurt anyone’s eyes lmao T_T I’m still a bit nervous each time I’m uploading my vids to the day to be honest, even with so many subs rn, but at first I really didn’t have any supporters at all and my god I sucked at this, but I guess the love for my fav ships was stronger apparently haha. So I always get silly happy at each nice comment and feedback, so thank you seriously.
I really love love love vidding, Idk why but when smth comes out the way I wanted it’s a super addictive feeling for some reason, but many times I just looked at the final result and just threw it in the trash and started over and my god how many times SonyVegas crushed and didn’t autosave the project. I’m like Suga now, I’m pressing the save button each 2 minutes, cause don’t want to lose anything xD Being someone’s inspiration is truly an honor to me, I’ve got some messages that hit me too hard. Still feels weird bc I’m like “but do you know that I can’t even use photoshop tho, how do u like me now then?” lol.
I’m always drawn to talented characters, bc they amaze me, esp the humble ones. Like those who hate Haru or Lanaga just buffle me honestly. I understand that they’re pretty and talented and everything, but they’re also the sweetest and loveliest human beings, so like...??? And I adore those who don’t whine and get what they want. I just can’t help it. I’m a strong believer in the fact that "you can do anything if you put your mind to it”. So far it worked in real life so suck it lol.
People are also saying like Langa doesn’t deserve to win this and Haru doesn’t deserve to be in Olympics, like Langa didn’t snowboard since he was 2 and Haru wasn’t swimming every day since he was born. I’m like.. and you need to check in the mirror if your face is a shade of green. BTW I’ve also been in a professional sports for quite a long time since I was a little kid, ballroom dancing and adored it back then, and I did not get jealous at ppl who were talented than me, I was watching the tapes actually with a popcorn. And oh god those large competition events when you sit there for days and give it all, but then you’re like 296 out of 1000. Why was I proud instead of being sad? Idk xD It was fun.
So thanks for liking the vid, cause I even regretted uploading it a bit yesterday. Sadly everyone already knows that we lost this fandom to the middle schoolers being extra, so they do not care for anything each episode except for this ship, so that’s what I got for posting a just Langa vid:

I didn’t even know Langa can be hated tbh. I wasn’t really ready for all the drama that followed me making a vid about him.
I’ve already deleted some comments, cause I’m like what this even has to do with the vid about Langa? No, I am not obliged to make a vid about Reki, too. What if I post a matchablossom vid, everyone will only start commenting “do renga”, cause fuck your efforts? I’m like... I hate such fanbases, seriously. I do not even know where this is going, but their fans are already pissing me off. I’m still trying hard for this to not affect my point of view about the ship, cause it’d be kinda unfair to them, but its getting harder each week istg.
And I maybe can’t take requests, but I love when some try to get me addicted on their ship with passion and great arguments. It happened to me with some nice ppl. But def not with agression and stupidity haha.

...I posted the first chapter of this series...1/2/2019…..the series was unplanned and unexpected..
What prompted the AU, to begin with, was a smut drabble I made called “Such a Brat” where Tae and the reader have sex in a supply closet at a party..and it ends with a hinted shootout taking place outside…..not sure why I opted to take that route but I did…
Also...that drabble was written on the 1st of Jan...and part 1 of Family Ties which is like 8K...was posted on Jan 2nd.
At the time I had only been back on Tumblr for maybe 3 months after taking almost a 4-year break! I was very new to the BTS fandom/BTS in general actually fun fact my first two drabbles that are now private (Posted in Mid Oct 2018)….where written solely off edits on Pinterest...I actually wasn’t even a “fan” then! I just wanted inspo to write....
My dilemma stems from the way the story has progressed...
The plot of this series was based on a script I wrote called “Blood Lines” back in like 2017, I think initially my brain altered the outline because....
I guess if in some far fetched reality... if the script got picked up there would be differences between this and the AU! I know, I know it probably sounds crazy but that was my reasoning, I didn’t want my fanfic to be exactly the same as my script!
Where I miscalculated is...I did not think people would enjoy it the way they did...I did not think in all honesty it would continue past part one actually!
Honestly, looking back on it I think I was on such a high from the feedback that drabble got because I was so new to the fandom that I just jumped to the first thing and wrote Family Ties...In all of a day...which I NEVER do anymore. My brain would shut the fuck down!
In reality, the plot IS the same, It’s still about the alliance getting internally ripped apart and a war starting within the black market... however how we get there and some of the characters dynamics is what’s different…
A little spoiler, in this series, Tae and the reader start off with a dysfuctional FWB dynamic, IE they both love each other but they’re stubborn AF! In part 1 of the original version, when all hell breaks loose it’s litterally hours after Tae proposes to Luxx (The OC’s nickname if your not familiar)
There storyline was suppose to start with them finally getting over the cat and mouse chase..and finding out how truly diffcult it is to openly be in love with and protect someone while living in there “world”.
If we’re being 100% honestly I’m actually not a fan of ANY chapter now that I look back on it up until the ending of chapter 3!
If I had it my way I’d start over….but I know that’s not ideal, even though we’re only 4 chapters in these chapters are long AF...and you guys have already gotten SO damn invested. The series was mapped out to have 12 chapters..but it’s I think hard for me to put it together because I’m personally not happy with the series because I know the way it was meant to be….
I want to give you guys closure...I’m not tired of this universe per se I guess now...a year and 4 months in I’m just pissed at myself that I didn’t just stick to the initial outline…I feel like now I’m stuck as to how to reign it all in because the last 7 chapters would flow better in my opinion IF I started it the way it was meant to be…
I know it’s hard because you guys don’t know the original and clearly you enjoy this one or else you wouldn’t read it but I’m not happy with my work the way I’d like to be….

I started posting my fics last February and let me tell you, it took me a while to get where I am now. And I'm still wondering why the fuck my blog ended up being the way it is now ANJKCNAKJC I'm not complaining, I love it!
My fics back then always had like less than 100 notes on them. I mean, the first ever Project V piece I wrote only had 20 notes, all of which were just likes lmao. It stayed like that for idk, I think a month??? Do It Again, which was the first smut I posted here had like 10 notes for weeks. And it wasn't only until like idk last month when it started getting traction and I don't know where all those notes came from tbh
The thing is, don't let a slow start discourage you from doing your thing. Interact with plenty of your mutuals, respond to their posts even their personal ones. You'll be surprised at how easy it is to build real friendships around here. But when I say interact with a lot of people, don't try so hard by stressing over what you want to tell them. Just be yourself! People will probably see how fun it is to interact with you and that's how they will feel comfortable to drop by your blog!
Back in my old blog where I wrote fics for a different fandom, I would say my fics got very decent feedback. But I rarely had asks nor interaction there and I think it's because I kept to myself. I just post my fics, respond to the comments and yada yada but never really made an effort to actually start a conversation with my readers. Here though, when I started putting my thoughts out there no matter how random they are, some would respond and then it'll just turn into a genuine conversation. It might be hard since you're an introvert, but there are a lot of kind people here who are very easy to talk to! Even as random as "Do you like milk?" can start a decent convo (or idk maybe it's just me because I'm chaotic af) but simple conversations work wonders.
Also, don't be afraid to reblog your own work! I used to do that and it helped. Reblog old works every once in a while, it's one way for your new followers to discover your stuff. There's no such thing as shameless promotion when you worked so hard on something. If you feel like it deserves recognition, keep reblogging it! Maybe tag some of your mutuals who you think might be interested! Leave your fave blogs with asks too! Keep commenting and that'll give your url some strong recall. :)

What inspired you to rp your muse? — yo sonic was my fucking LIFEBLOOD as a kid. lived and breathed this franchise. sa2 was my first game ever, sonic was my fav character (and still is), so my absolute love for this specific version of him became too much to internalize sooooo here we are ; w ;
What keeps your inspiration going? — straight up, sonic is probably my biggest comfort character to exist ever. always makes me happy, always makes me feel better when im down, etc. there’s nothing he can’t do that doesn’t make me smile, regardless of how sega treats him. being able to pour my ideas into a character i love so much to the point he becomes really personalized (and personal for me), and it’s actually something people enjoy seeing and interacting with? it gives me so much goddamn sertonin.

Hi! Hope you are well! Just curious, but I see you sometimes tag posts as “characterization”, and I just wonder what are some of your fave fic character things about the boys that have been proven/disproven in real life? I.e Harry is often written as loving sweet sugary coffee when we now know he prefers things strong/black, etc. Do you have anything like that that’s surprised you? Or you still like to write about anyway to fit the narrative you are looking for? Sorry, I hope this makes sense!
this is a super interesting question! I’d love to hear what y’all think about this as well, so send me a message if you have thoughts you wanna share. my response is under the cut bc it’s long, sorry 😬
to me, a lot of what fic is about is taking perceived character traits and expanding on them or putting them in different contexts. for example, we know harry is a gigantic music geek and has taken it upon himself to explore and learn as much as he can. in a fic, then, taking this trait and applying it to something else (perhaps he’s really into literature, or environmentalism, or etc) is what it’s all about! that way, it’s a balance of what you explained - maintaining their real life personalities while also molding it to fit the context of the story. it’s hard for me to say which I lean toward more, but I try to stay as true as I can to my perception of how they are irl while writing fic. if I actually achieve that is debatable lol. but what’s fun about fic is that you can always ask, “what if he was like this?” and run with your idea. idk I mean perhaps in another universe, harry would prefer sugary coffee, or maybe in our universe he’s lying about drinking black coffee, etc., so it’s all up to your own interpretations/headcanons and what you want to write. (personally I love that he drinks black coffee bc I do too, so I’ve always tried to keep that accurate ahaha)
my favorite characterization of louis is when he’s the confident, funny, outgoing friend who will gently tease others and act as a mentor/protector. I see this a lot in college au’s and I absolutely love it, how he exhibits big brother tendencies and is also really affectionate and assured and not afraid to show people how much he loves them. idk I feel like in an alternate timeline, if louis wasn’t mega famous and instead went to uni and had a relatively normal life, he would be the guy everyone adores and loves to be around, the person people go to for comfort and advice and also just to have fun. I also love how his sexuality is portrayed in this way, it’s just comforting thinking of how confident, proud, and at ease he would be.
similarly, I loveeeeee writers tapping into louis being a hipster (and the irony that he would hate being called a hipster) bc a ton of evidence points to him as such, mostly how he rejects trends at all costs lol (see: avocados, game of thrones, stranger things). vintage clothes, individualized/authentic music taste, attitude toward trends, etc.
for harry, I’m a huge fan of any characterization that focuses on how much of an eccentric, introverted-but-needs-attention, weirdo he really is. a lot of this comes from rs and behind the album, and I actually have a huge list of harry characterization I want to add into fic—mostly his music taste, athletic activities (hot yoga!), proclivity for jumping into bodies of water and losing his clothes, alone time (reading at a cafe all day!), and his jealous/petty tendencies. I love fics that write harry as getting emo sometimes but not always knowing how to express those emotions without pulling away for a bit first and engaging in introspection. I love fics that show how he can really be a geek for something, finding a topic he’s passionate about and really exploring it.
it’s so fascinating to me (and also scary) how much reading fic has influenced my perception of who they are as real people. sure, there are fics where I’m like “irl he would never do that,” but for the most part I think we’ve managed to create a body of literature that accurately encapsulates and explores the possible personalities of the real people we’re trying to describe. idk, that might be a hot take and it’s also what makes me uncomfortable about writing rpf, but I do think a lot of people hit the nail on the head with characterization just from using the info we know about them as real people. for example, a lot of the rs article about harry was new information, but I honestly didn’t find any of it surprising, bc we’re all so emotionally involved in what they do and how they act and that kind of constant thought about someone you see but don’t know personally is really interesting. this probably makes zero sense, sorry, my thoughts on this are a complicated mess.
I tag info for characterization on my blog as a reference for myself. I don’t write harry or louis as accurately as I want to and I’m trying to fix that with every fic I write. it helps to have these small details recorded, and to let them inspire a fic. it’s also interesting, as you mentioned, how perceived ideas about who they are have been disproved, and how there are trends in our fandom of the type of fics we write and they way we characterize H/L (2015 hipster health nut green smoothie yoga harry characterization, I’m looking @ u ) which may not be the most accurate, but are still cherished and enjoyed.
also, there are times when I read and write fics with certain characterizations that are probably not true to real life, but are still fun to write (ie my clairvoyant fic, where louis and harry “hate” each other, louis is a menace, harry is constantly annoyed, and they argue a lot). in these fics, it’s less of saying “they are like this” and more a question of “what if they were like this?” which is cool and interesting and exploratory. anyways this is rambly and confusing, but my point is that fic allows so much room for the author to make personal choices about what and how to write, which is a beautiful thing, because we have so much variability in our fandom’s fics, and there’s something for everyone.

Okay so I’m doing seven because as you all know from my zillion ships and characters I’ve written for/screamed about, I’m incapable of picking a specific favourite lmao. But it’s still less than half my fics so it’s fine. Also none of these are ranked, I enjoyed them all equally tbh. (Forgive my lack of heart emojis RIP, I’m on desktop for this one)The Troubles Rain Can Bring (Pers/ona 5) : Of course I have to bring this one up, since it’s the one I consider my first legit omo fic (Jade was my first foray, but since it’s unfinished and I picked a dead fandom specifically so I had less chances of getting mean comments, I consider it more of a practice run). This was my first time writing for a very active and current fandom, so it was really intimidating, but I was also really excited to participate in creating for a game I was so passionate about! Also that fic was just a total labour of self-indulgence and love (excuse for fluff with my otp? combining all my fav tropes? Gratuitous Akira Suffering? Including the others for fun towards the end? I was in hog heaven!) While I definitely can find parts where I could improve the writing now, I still love it for all of the effort I put into it, and I got such a lovely response that made me feel really welcome on ao3, the omo tag on tumblr, and in the p/5 fandom! It’s kind of nostalgic for me, even if it was only written like a year and a half ago, haha.All Bottled Up (Dang/anRonpa: THH) : I’m just really proud of this fic, and I had so much fun writing it! I think it’s probably one of the few fics I’ve written that was a completely smooth ride of inspiration and fun from start to finish, without any hitches in the writing process or me getting bogged down with other projects. Seriously I think I hammered the entire thing out in like a week or two lmao. I love Naegiri so much, and the idea was a treat to work with even if it’s some of the most cliché omo scenarios, it was just a nice relaxing bit of indulgence! Also I got to dig into Kirigiri’s character, which I didn’t get to do in my other fic of her (since that one was so short and oddly styled). My favourite bit was probably getting to mess with the drawbacks of her gloves/hand injuries, and of course those fluffy bits with Naegi! Getting Your Feet Wet (Pers/ona 5) : This one, hoo boy. Definitely one of my longest fics, and while at the time when I posted it I kind of hated half the stuff in it (just because I had been nitpicking it for so long lmao), now that time has gone by I can genuinely say I love it and it’s probably one I’m proudest of. Not only was it my first full dive into snut (and I’d like to think it isn’t too shabby), but I got to work with a rarepair that I’ve been intrigued by, with two of my fav npcs from the game! So fun times all around! It was great to imagine how Sae might have changed and opened up since the game’s ending, and what Tae could do to help draw her out of that strict shell while still making her feel secure and comfortable. Also I got to include pet/p.lay which is something I’d been dying to write since I started that account, so bonus points for that! And I got a way better response than I was expecting, so that was nice!A Sinking Ship (Pers/ona 5) : ((Okay I swear I still plan to update the other half of this one someday soon, I literally have the draft halfway done I just haven’t been able to get it finished to the level I want.)) Anyways, I have a soft spot for this one because 1. It’s Makoto, and you all know how much I adore her, 2. I finally got to write some legit palace battling and shenanigans, which I really enjoyed and want to include more of in future projects, 3. I literally put so much detail into this one, from the setting descriptions to the dialogue and going out of my way to include the entire team interacting with her instead of just one or two chars, and I’m giving myself a fat pat on the back for that. And then throwing in actual anxiety and plot issues instead of just making her desperate for the sake of it, which may have been ambitious (hence why it’s kind of on a cliffhanger right now while I finish the comfort half), but I really just wanted her to have one of my best fics possible because Makoto deserves the best (of the worst suffering oops sorry bby). Also did I mention The Shumako Bridal Carry scene? That was absolutely necessary to include okay? Also there’s gonna be quality Shumako bonding in the second chapter so I’m biased to love this in advance. Basically I love this one specifically because it’s my own self-indulgent bullshit, which is kind of every fic I write but this is definitely one of The Most Indulgent. I also consider this one my very best omo fic in terms of the actual omo writing/content, even if it’s long AF, because at least you’re getting desperation and wetting for pretty much the entire thing, even when other stuff’s going on around it. So yeah I guess if you don’t mind a cliffhanger ending (for now) and have a decent knowledge of p/5, this is the one I recommend reading!Conundrums Lead to Collapse (Doc/tor Who - 13th Doc/tor) : I really liked writing this one because of the whump, actually. I rarely have excuses to injure characters for Even Worse Omo Suffering/Comfort, so the fact that I could write based on a canon injury was the perfect excuse! Also I’m just weak for the 13th Doctor so I’m always down for omo of her, but it was also a fun excuse to explore her character. We hadn’t gotten to see her angry or broken down at the time it aired, so I enjoyed getting to play around with how things affect her when she does finally lose the positive attitude and confidence, and bringing a character as powerful (and semi immortal I guess) as The Doctor to the floor was just a fun exercise. Also it’s kind of hard to find whump fics focused on female characters that don’t involve a certain kind of violence (or just female whump in general actually), so I just really enjoyed using all of the fandom tropes I’ve read over the years in those fics to create something for those of us who wanted it the other way around! I would also like to say this one gave me the excuse for Found Family Coddling, everyone comforts and helps her towards the end which is perfect for my fluff-craving heart after all of the angst.Holding More than Cards (Ka/kegurui Compulsive Gambler) : Oh boy, I’ll be honest the reason I love this is purely because it’s pretty much the only fic for this pairing that I’ve found for my tastes and I had to make it myself dang it (They basically had a whole two episodes where Midari creamed herself for Yumeko and they had that scene where they held each other’s faces staring into their eyes, HOW is no one jumping on this ship??? There’s literally 5 fics total on ao3 I’m not joking). I really enjoyed getting to dig into Midari’s characterization for this one, especially since I had such a tiny bit of canon to go off of and had to set it after the anime’s s1 developments. I got to write Yumeko being a dom and dropping her cheerful attitude too, which was really satisfying. Also while this doesn’t have full on snut in it, it was the closest I’d come at the time, so that was an interesting challenge. This was a rare chance to indulge in unhealthy ships too (bc literally every ship in that show is unhealthy on some level lmao) so that was entertaining to try and navigate.Capture the Fly with Nectar Sweet (The Ch/illing Adventures of Sabrin/a) : I just posted this one recently but I’m adding it anyways, because I had an absolute blast working on it. It’s so starkly different from anything I usually write, because you all know I love close friendships and found family and all that quality fluff and caring. But instead this one was me staring at my laptop thinking of how I want to tell this character to go to hell, except that would be pointless because that’s literally where she came from. I really got to stretch my wings outside my comfort zone and dig around in the dark, manipulative side for a while, and it was so much fun to study one of my favourite villains (anti-hero? she’s such a mysterious mess idk how to classify her) and her relationship with Sabrina. I also got to attempt writing desperation from the outsider’s perspective instead of the victim’s, and while I feel like I definitely still have room to improve with that, it was a nice break from the way I usually write my omo fics. I also got to shift around my writing style for this one, using words like ‘betwixt’ (which I love but never get to use lol) and using a bunch of metaphors and similes to showcase how Madam views Sabrina. This is probably the fic that makes it obvious that Language Arts was my favourite subject in school and that I’m Extra when it comes to predator/prey comparisons lmao. (Note: Please read the tags on this one, the Dead Dove: Do Not Eat warning applies here.)

Okay for Jason I would definitely start with the big ones, which are A Death In the Family and Under the Red Hood. After that you could try Red Hood: the Lost Days and Countdown to Final Crisis. I would avoid the n52 series until you have a good enough grasp of the character to recognize bad writing when you see it.
For the generalized batfam.... that’s pretty broad. My personal favorites are Red Robin, Batgirl (2009), and both B&R series. If you have more specific questions, you should IM me! I promise I’m better about answering those than asks

Yeah! In her original version, Babs had a birth mom and an adopted mom. She was originally Jim’s niece, so her birth mom’s name was Thelma Gordon. After the adoption, her parents were Jim and Barbara Gordon, with her adopted mother being her namesake. So two Barbara Gordons.
I think for awhile the canon was that her mother died in a car crash, but the current version has her still alive. She left Jim when Babs was young, taking her son (Babs’s brother) with her. James Gordon (the son) turned out to be a serial killer.
Barbara Gordon Sr. and James Gordon Jr. both appeared in the n52 Batgirl series during the Death of the Family arc. There’s also a very good story about James from the Dickbats period. That one’s called The Black Mirror, if I’m not mistaken?

Oh I have very strong opinions about the role of abuse in Damian’s narrative. It’s absolutely there, and the effects are staggeringly large. There is no doubt in my mind that the league was an abusive environment, and I can’t justify some of the things Bruce did either.
I think I would say the same thing for Jason, if not quite as strongly. I definitely think that some of the things that happened to Jason as a child shaped his story later on, but less of those were abuse than outside circumstances. The n52 takes a different track on that one, I think, but I don’t put much stock in that characterization.

Unlikely. They get along better these days, but I would argue that comes from poor characterization of Bruce, not an actual resolution process.
