Robin writing reminders all over like “call sayde”, left and right on her hands, and (Don’t Trip) on her shoes, only furthers proves that Nance would leave sticky note reminders for Robin

wish i knew you wanted me [stranger things, ronance]
The result of an art exchange with the lovely and talented Maggie Rose! She also created the art below after we exchanged. Go give her ALL the love. It was a fun challenge to create for a new fandom/ship on the fly!
Stranger Things, ~1.5K words, rated T, complete
Robin leans in and kisses her.
It’s firmly on the clumsier side of sudden—all impulsive, all headlong—catching Nancy off-guard and mid-sentence. The hasty angle of it is far from perfect, and their noses get in the way, and it’s definitely not the first time Nancy Wheeler has been kissed.
But it is the first time being kissed has made her feel like this.
Nancy, and Robin, and the tension breaking

Queen of the Rodeo - A Ronance AU
Tumblr media
Playlist
Nancy Wheeler grew up in the saddle. She's spent more time on horseback than on her own two feet, and she's loved every second.
But on the other side of forty, it's getting harder to ignore what it's cost her.
She'd done her time as rodeo queen like her mother before her, but unlike Karen, Nancy hadn't married up and settled down when her year was done. Instead, when it was time, she passed the crown on to the inimitable Erica Sinclar, and kept competing.
She'd had a good run, too, winning more breakaways than she scratched and constantly breaking her own records on the barrel races. But then her roping partner Barb had taken a bad fall and quit the arena all together, leaving Nancy to face the circuit alone.
Since then, Nancy's been the only rider on Coach Hopper's roster, and the old sheriff has been hinting at his own retirement for a while. Even his lady, the legendary Joyce Byers, idol of every cowgirl west of the Mississippi, had given up rodeos younger than Nancy was now, though she even still worked hard as a rancher.
Joyce certainly hadn't started riding roughstock at thirty like Nancy did, seizing an open slot at a back country rodeo that didn't care too much about propriety. And since then, Nancy’d driven two or three states over any time the WPRA could pull together enough competitors.
Nancy doesn't regret it, even when it hurts, even when she loses.
But it's starting to hurt more often than it doesn't, and she's losing more often than she wins these days. Plus, Barb isn't the only friend Nancy's run off; she burned a lot of bridges and broke a few hearts to earn her place at the top. She still loves the rodeo like nothing else, but it's getting to be lonely.
It’s also a long way down. She's not sure the Harringtons will keep her on as a ranch hand if she's not bringing prizes to their stables, and if she has to leave behind ranching on top of leaving the rodeo…
Something has to give soon, though. Nancy can read the writing on the wall: she's slowing down and even though it's only in milliseconds, it makes a difference on the breakaway.
If Nancy could let go and trust that she'd land on her feet, maybe she could get out of her own way. She's pushed away friends, family, and lovers, but if she'd risk being vulnerable just enough, she could still reconnect with a community – and one woman in particular – that still loves her.
Robin Buckley's parents made a number of decisions about her life that were supposedly for her safety. The wisest was, probably, never letting her near a horse.
So, though she grew up out in ranch country, surrounded by brush and cowboys, Robin's never so much as given a colt a sugar cube, let alone ridden a full grown mare or – heaven forbid – a stallion.
That doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate a good rodeo. Or the riders, anyway.
But being an admirer – particularly of a woman's sport – doesn't pay the bills.
Nor does an associate's degree in Spanish, as it turns out. So much for her late nights at the community college.
Once upon a time, Robin had bigger dreams. And it's not impossible to still chase them. Steve'd offered to take her, to load up his truck with their bags and just drive until they got somewhere.
Robin knows she could do something, if she was somewhere. But that means leaving, and as much as Robin once thought she had to, it doesn't feel as necessary as it once did. And it’s a little more frightening, the idea of starting over, now that she’s no longer young and restless.
She has a place here now. She has regulars at the diner, and regulars at the bar, and Steve.
And yeah, sue her. She has some unresolved heartbreak courtesy of the local rodeo queen emeritus. It's been more than a few years since she and Nancy had anything between them, but messy and flash-paper quick as it was, Robin still carries a torch for her.
Hell, Robin has carried a torch for Nancy since they were both thirteen, and Robin wheedled her aunt into taking her to the rodeo for the very first time.
Nancy had been glorious, all red bows and silver thread, lightening quick around the barrels in a perfect clover leaf, strong and steady on a beautiful gray horse that thundered around the pen, kicking dust in its wake.
It's not like Robin had been naïve, going into things. Nancy wasn't the first cowgirl Robin had hooked up with, and she'd known she was hardly Nancy's first partner either. So Robin knew what she was getting with Nancy, the night she'd looked Robin over with those deep brown eyes and smiled honey-sweet.
She knew it wouldn't last, and that was fine.
Until it wasn't, because it did last. Longer than Robin expected, long enough that she forgot to hold back. Long enough that she forgot why she shouldn't fall in love.
She'd gotten burnt pretty bad, for that mistake.
Still, it had been years. Robin had moved on, had other partners, other relationships, had even been in love again.
Her breath still catches when she sees Nancy, and she's learned to live with it. She's just not sure she could live without it.
If she could find the resolve, Robin might find fulfillment elsewhere, where her ear for languages might be appreciated as more than a party trick and she wouldn't be dependent on tips to keep her lights on. But if she'd take a chance and risk her heart one more time, she'd find that the cowgirl of her dreams might be ready for a change of pace, too.

Ronance F1 Rivals to Lovers AU update
more pics of the gIRLIES to drop as Chapter 14 drops! https://archiveofourown.org/works/40456119/chapters/101349792
Ronance is so fun to write, but even MORE fun as rivals and even more more fun because I was adamant about not making either of them American lmao.
Robin is the Golden Boy, an embassy brat born in Mexico City, who races under the Mexican flag.
Nancy Wheeler is the experienced driver who got stuck in a midfield team for far too long, and is from Monaco (with an American father).
They hate each other, and then are forced to become teammates.

Nancy runs her hand over Robin's side as their mouths move in tandem. Robin came over to help her research other government projects that could have an effect like the Upside Down or psychic kids, but their papers have been knocked to the ground and they’ve been making out for the last fifteen minutes.

another snippet from my spicy six zombie apocolypse au! this is from ronance's chapter. tw: mild sexual content.
“Nancy Karen Wheeler,” Eddie starts.
“That’s not my middle name,” Nancy says.
“If you don’t take that with us, I’m gonna tell Robin that you don’t love her.”
Nancy rolls her eyes and shoves Eddie away. She keeps looking around for the kiddos to appear behind them but they’re all doing their own thing on the first floor of this house. Significantly beat up house with broken windows, various animal markings, and peeling walls. A typical house that they run into. They’re not staying here tonight, just ransacking it for goods. But this “good” was not on Nancy’s list of things to take.
“It’ll take up too much room in my bag,” Nancy mumbles. Eddie's admiring an erotic painting that hung lopsided on the wall. Eddie blows a raspberry and gives her a pointed look.
“Then ditch it after you have yourselves a night,” Eddie says with a teasing grin.
“We don’t even know if it’s sanitary,” Nancy argues.
“It’s literally still in the package,” Eddie exclaims, picking it up off the dusty mattress. He waves it in her face while Nancy scrunches her nose.
“Don’t those…go bad or something after a while?”
Eddie looks like he’s seconds away from bursting into full belly laughter. “Is Nancy Karen‒”
“Eddie, Christ, that’s not my middle name. What a bad middle name.”
“Fine, is Nancy Jacqueline Wheeler‒”
“Jacqueline?”
“Your parents seem like Kennedy people.”
“They’re republican.”
“Damn, that bites,” Eddie retorts. “What point was I trying to make?”
Nancy cracks a smile then. “I don’t know. Your undiagnosed ADHD is an enigma to us all.”
“Could be ADD,” Eddie argues pointlessly. He looks down at his hands and his eyes light up again. “Ah, yes! Nancy Elizabeth Wheeler was about to ask me if a dildo can expire.”
Nancy hits his arm and shushes him. “Shut the hell up!”
“No, no it’s cute,” Eddie says. “It’s really cute that you’re coming to Big Gay Eddie for help‒”
“I’m not coming to you for help,” Nancy seethes.
“It might be too far to help you get into the leather straps but maybe if we did it over your clothes… or if Steve was there‒”
“I’m going to actually murder you,” Nancy spits.
“What? He’s seen it all before!” Eddie says as he gestures to Nancy’s body.
Nancy huffs and goes to leave the room. She reaches the door before she turns around and says, “You put that thing down, Edward Johnny Munson.”
“Johnny?"
“Johnny Cash,” Nancy says in her best southern drawl.
Eddie narrows his eyes and then gave her a sad smile. “You talked to Wayne too much.”
Nancy returns the sad smile and says, “He was a great guy to talk to.”
Eddie nods fondly. They’re not sure where Wayne is. When the Lurkers took over, they were still in the Upside Down fighting Vecna. They saw no bodies when they came back but Eddie found a sticky note on the fridge that said, “I’ll find you one day, son”.
He keeps it in his wallet (which is pretty obsolete now but everyone has little things they carry that make them feel like people). Eddie doesn’t talk about it much but Nancy thinks Wayne is out there. He might have been old but he was ready to fight that whole town if it meant Eddie was okay. Some measly zombies are not going to stand in his way.
The house, minus the strap-on, is actually good loot. There were tampons, bags of beans and rice, reusable water bottles, half-empty shampoo and conditioner bottles, and some unscented soap which is great for cleaning gear.
The group moves forward into the night and sets up camp in a barn. It’s Nancy, Steve, and Lucas’s turn to make dinner so Lucas starts a fire while Nancy and Steve set up the pots and pans.
Nancy reaches into her backpack to dig around for a wooden spoon when she pulls out an unfamiliar box. She squeaks and Steve glances up from his bag. His eyes go wide as Nancy hurriedly shoves the box back into her bag. Nancy shoots him a glare and Steve holds his hands up in defense.
“I didn’t see whatever you didn’t want me to see,” Steve says.
“Your boyfriend is dead fucking meat,” Nancy seethes.
“He usually is.”
“Little shit,” Nancy grumbles, violently shoving the box further into her bag.
“Woah, woah, hey, don’t damage the goods,” Steve jokes.
“I’m not,” Nancy stops herself to huff. “I’m not gonna…use it.”
“I don’t care if you do or don’t. I don’t even know how sanitary it is.”
“That’s what I said!”
“How, if you don’t mind me asking, did my boyfriend put that in there? Where the hell did you even get it?”
Nancy sighs loudly. “It was in the bedroom of the house. The one with the painting‒”
Steve whistles and nods. “Yeah, that was nice.”
Nancy scoffs and waves an exasperated hand. “Eddie found it and oh so graciously offered it to me and told me if I didn’t take it that I didn’t love Robin anymore.”
Steve sputters a laugh and shakes his head. Lucas comes back over and Nancy hurriedly hides her bag behind the back of the log she’s sitting on.
“What’s so funny?” Lucas asks.
“Nothing,” The two say.
Lucas frowns. “I hate when you guys do that.”
“Do what?” Nancy asks.
“Make jokes that you won’t tell us. We’re all adults here.”
“That is simply not true,” Steve says.
“Okay maybe not Erica but I’m nearly 18! What’s the goddamn joke?” Lucas whines.
“It’s personal,” Nancy says sternly through gritted teeth.
Lucas looks at Steve and tilts his head. “Well?”
Steve deliberates for a moment while Nancy shoots daggers at him. Eventually, he shakes his head and says, “Yeah, we’re not having that talk today. Maybe some other time, sport.”
Lucas groans and gestures behind him. “Fire’s ready. You can take your little jokes over there.”
Nancy slaps his thigh as she stands and Steve ruffles his afro. Lucas shoves them both away and grumpily takes a seat on the log they were on. Nancy and Steve snicker to themselves but don’t bring up the box for the rest of the night.
Nancy tries to think of a way to get rid of it. But can't help also thinking about that unscented soap...
