1989 Quidditch World Cup Masterlist
Anaticula Year One Summer Break - Quidditch World Cup
Summary :
Rock meet immovable force. The price of a stolen name is set to be far more than most would dare demand. But a young girl is poised to take on Cornelius Fudge, Ministère des Affaires Magiques de la France Luc Gerard, and anyone else behind the interwoven plots to keep hidden the identity of a nameless Witch stolen away by Morfin Gaunt back in 1935. Two Ministers, a former Supreme Mugwump and countless Aurors chose to place themselves as obstacles around circumstances none of them understand.
But said Witch guides the Granddaughter she possessed on a path to find the family left lost searching decades for hint of where their lost child had been. The Quidditch World Cup is fair cover when a plot is afoot. But after the confetti settles Fudge's try to cover his own culpabilities in several prominent murders are in plain view once all distraction of the all enamoring tournament has faded. Now the Wizengamot is summoned and the Minister is on the wrong end of an investigation that will severely cripple all he has worked for thus far.

My uncle Quang went missing on a mountain last month and is presumed to have died in a rock slide. It’s very likely we will never get his body back, based on where he is believed to have fallen. He was the first known Vietnamese man to summit three of the world’s 7 biggest summits. He climbed Denali in the USA, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Aconcagua in Argentina, and Mont Blanc in Western Europe.
Anyway I’m not posting about this for sympathy or donations, but because before he died, he saved his brother (my other uncle)’s life with a bone marrow transplant. Out of seven siblings, Quang was the only match. So there’s something additionally offensive to the idea that we will never get his body back.
When we were waiting on the results, there was a lot of anxiety surrounding the possibility of no familial matches, because having recent ancestors in common is the next best pool of genetics to tap for a match: Vietnamese, Lao people, Cambodians, Hmong people. Unfortunately, in the United States, the number of Southeast Asians in the bone marrow registry is critically low.
And guess what? We can fix that! There are a few options/registries out there, and if you are able to be a registered potential donor, you’ll have the chance to save a life. It’s also way easier than climbing a 19,000’ mountain.

My, my, could that be that Clavis has caused some trouble again? Read on to find out!
Now, the real question is... Who else sent us postcards? Are there any connections between them? What misadventures befell them? Well, there's only one way to find out -- stay tuned!
Best wishes from the crew of IFE.
Transcriptions below the cut.
My sweetest darling,
I can almost imagine your face when you see this “postcard”, and the smile that appears on it the moment you realise I was the one who sent it. Haha, you did not expect that, did you? But rest assured, wherever I go, the only woman I think about is you. I am a gentleman, after all, and I have some heads to investigate here.
To think that you can fly now! Isn’t that delightful! Although, I must say, the flight was a bit dull. I had to entertain myself by thinking about what my brothers may be doing, ah.
Yes. I’ve lost them at the “airport”. Unthinkable, isn’t it? Hahaha, I hope their trips went as planned.
Forever yours,
Clavis Lelouch
--
As per my promise, I, Yves Kloss, the Fifth Prince of Rhodolite, have sent you a postcard. Under normal circumstances, it would be unthinkable for a man of my standing to go out of his way to message a commoner… So you better be happy and save it!!
Although… It isn’t from Egypt, like I told you it would be… Argh, it’s all Clavis’ fault! He lost us all on purpose! Knowing my luck, I probably ended up the furthest away from all of them…
But it’s my brothers who are missing out! I’ve been having a great time in Japan! Everybody has been very polite to me so far. Tokyo is quite bustling, but I found a nice café to rest at. They asked me to work there and surely, their dessert menu could be improved… Do you think I’d also have to wear a maid uniform if I accepted?
Have fun holidays! That’s an order from the Fifth Prince himself!!
Yves Kloss
--
Dear Little Rabbit,
How do you like your holidays? I must say, I felt offended on your behalf when I’ve learnt the Rhodolitian Princes left you behind. It is rather inconsiderate of them to enjoy their time while you’re lonely and defenseless, no? I shudder thinking about all the things that could happen were you to lose your way back home… Just thinking, of course.
Is the work hard on you? I can’t imagine your bookshop being particularly busy now that everybody endeavours to travel. Nonetheless, performing the same tasks, locked inside until this lovely weather is all but gone, does seem exhausting. I personally wouldn’t be able to stand it.
You’d think I’ve forgotten, but I never forget about my dear friends: thank you for your book recommendations. I did grow fond of the authors you’ve mentioned. It so happens that soon they shall visit the Royal Palace of Obsidian, so I intend to meet them personally. Should I tell them a word from you? Such opportunities are quite hard to come by, but as your ally, I’d gladly fulfil any requests you may make.
Your faithful friend,
Gil
--
You won’t believe where I am, but first things first: have you heard from Yves? I’ve lost him at the second airport. You’d think it’d be loud enough there for me to read the guide, but… You can tell what happened from there on.
That aside, you never told me how beautiful the sky is from up close! Although flying itself is so-so, the food’s like something Clavis could come up with. I ended up in Tanzania. This really is a different world, isn’t it? I don’t exactly know the local languages, but everybody’s been real nice. They even offered to take me on a trip.
I will see you soon,
Leon
PS:
Hahaha, lions ARE fast.
I’m fine.
Leon

Having grown up on a farm in Uganda, I have seen the damage of the climate crisis firsthand. My family lived in a small village near the banks of Lake Victoria, the second largest freshwater lake in the world, and my childhood was spent climbing trees, planting seeds, and eating fruit straight from the trees. We grew bananas, guavas, beans, cassava, sugarcane, and coffee. It sounds idyllic but I remember the first time I realised climate change would affect us—it was a rainy season unlike any we had seen before. For days and nights heavy rain battered the fields and strong winds bent and broke the crops until they were unsavable. Not only did the rains affect us financially, but I missed months of my schooling because flooding blocked the roads and I couldn’t get to school.
Burning fossil fuels, which releases carbon pollution into the air and causes our world to overheat, is the number one cause of the climate chaos we’re facing. 2024 may be even hotter than 2023, resulting in even more catastrophic weather.
But there is still hope. Those with power must act now, and the insurance industry holds more power than most to slow the crisis and protect our future. Without insurance, fossil fuel projects can’t operate. If insurance companies updated their policies and refused to insure new fossil fuel projects, there would be no new oil pipelines, liquefied natural gas terminals, or dirty coal mines. If they focused instead on insuring clean, safe energy and a just transition, our communities and our world would be safer for current and future generations.
The insurance industry’s role is to protect and manage risk, but right now it is failing spectacularly at both. Instead of protecting communities, it’s adding fuel to the fire by continuing to insure new fossil fuel projects. The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a prime example. This proposed pipeline would run 1,443 kilometers between Hoima in Uganda and Tanga in Tanzania, but the project has stalled as it has not yet secured full insurance and financing due to the many human and environmental rights abuses associated with it. These include the harassment and imprisonment of peaceful protesters, the disturbing of sacred burial grounds, and the forcible removal of communities to make way for the pipeline. If EACOP gets insured and goes ahead, it will cross 200 rivers and pass through Lake Victoria’s water basin. Over 40 million people depend on the lake for survival, as well as countless animal species; if the pipe leaks and spills oil into the water, what will happen to them?
The corporations behind EACOP say it will “unlock East Africa’s potential,” but let’s be clear: It is neocolonialism at its best, and the only ones who will gain are the foreign companies set to profit. EACOP will irrevocably damage East Africa’s biodiversity, displace thousands of people, destroy their livelihoods and communities, and unleash 32.3 million metric tons of carbon into the atmosphere per year, setting off a climate bomb that will make our world overheat to devastating levels. The International Energy Agency has stated that there can be no new oil pipelines if we are to save the future, and yet insurance companies including AIG, Tokio Marine, Chubb, Hiscox, and Lloyd’s of London still refuse to rule out insuring EACOP.

Howdy Horn Honkers.
We are not going to fight about the fighting. Our Jewish brothers and sisters have had their world shattered and more than 900 have been murdered while simply going about their daily lives.
In that way, it's similar to a mass shooting in America. One minute you're doing your do, the next minute you're a memory. One minute you're a child, the next minute you're a statistic.
What about being ripped from your home or car and taken hostage by people who don't know you but hate you anyway? Does anyone want to imagine that for yourself or your family?
What of dozens of babies who were murdered by Hamas, some beheaded? There’s video of this horror online. Can any one of us defend carnage against children via our political views?
And now scores of innocent Palestinians of all ages are suffering too. Dying in their homes and in the street.
There is global pain. Ten people from my home country of Great Britain are dead or missing. Eleven Americans are dead. Two people from Tanzania are injured and 2 Mexican nationals have been taken prisoner by Hamas. Ten humans from Nepal, a person from France and a Canadian man are dead. Two Ukrainians were killed, along with 12 citizens of Thailand.
And that’s just the numbers we know right now. Those numbers will grow.
Terrorism, by design, kills people. So does war.
Terrorism is far too prevalent, violently destructive, and we now have two (!) major wars going on in our world — in Europe and the Middle East.
We will not be fighting about the fighting on this page, regardless of personal feelings. Not while fellow humans beings are killed in tragic numbers and suffering so greatly.
Look, l’m not naive. I get it. I do. But if you have to pick a side, pick the side of humanity. That’s who we need to win.
I hope we do.

Of Love, Doom and Scones
So... I don't know how that happened, but I've accidentaly written an Aldrich Kemp fanfic. The first one out there. (At least I didn't find any others.) Well. Here it is. (And if you didn't listen to Aldrich Kemp podcasts, please do! They are wonderful!)
G, Gen, 1.4k words
"What's happening to Aldrich?" Sebastian hisses to Nakesha across the tea table, loud enough to startle everyone except, well, Aldrich, who just sighs wistfully and looks as if he's miles away.
"Can't you guess?" Nakesha inquires calmly. "Mrs. Boone, would you be a dear and bring another pot of tea?"
"Certainly, miss."
Of course, Sebastian could guess. Frankly, it is quite obvious: the old chap literally has heart-shaped eyes and smiles ridiculously at a distance, like the worst romantic cliche of the most sickening lovey-dovey movie on Earth.
But firstly, Sebastian has never seen him like that, not even that time in Tanzania, about three years ago, with a young Miss What-Was-Her-Name, who somehow managed to keep Aldrich's attention to herself for the whole two evenings. (And nights, unfortunately. Sebastian's bed was just a wall away, and they were abominably loud and enthusiastic. He feared that the ceiling might collapse on top of him at any moment, and it was impossible to fall asleep. He was forced to contemplate sleeping on a couch in the other room of his suite! Luckily for him, on the third night, she was gone and never mentioned again. Needless to say, from that time on, whenever they traveled together, he booked himself a room across the hallway from Aldrich's—just in case.)
Secondly, and most worryingly, it screams trouble more than anything Aldrich has managed to drag them into before, and that is an accomplishment in itself. It's a wonder that Nakesha doesn’t seem troubled at all. Certainly, if it comes to the worst, they can always plan an untimely demise for the poor girl. It's a shame, though. For all Sebastian knows, she’s an innocent bystander just like any of them, who had the misfortune to be caught in the way of a catastrophic force that is Aldrich. But then, maybe she'll listen to reason and run as far away as possible. Nah. It won't make a difference since it seems that Aldrich has firmly made up his mind. Death it is, then. She'll thank them later.
Or maybe…
"Wait, it's not Clara, is it?"
Clara, who is sitting right next to him, chokes on a scone.
"More tea, miss?" Mrs Boone tops her cup from a fresh pot without batting an eye.
"No! Er- Yes, thank you, Mrs Boone. No, Sebastian! It's not me! Gosh, I hope not… Aldrich?!"
"Calm down, Clara!" Aldrich laughs, finally deciding to grace them with the gift of his company, "of course it's not you. Although I do find you fascinating in your own way and love you almost like a sister—” Nakesha throws a napkin at him, but he simply shakes it off, “Oh, Nakesha, don’t be like that! But no, that woman, she's… " He sighs again, and Sebastian feels dread twirling in his stomach.
"Oh no," he groans, "this time we're all going to die, aren't we?"
Nakesha exchanges pointed looks with Aunt Lily. Yes, fine, he is being overdramatic, perhaps. But Aldrich is dangerously reckless at his best, and now, when he's suddenly head over heels for some mysterious woman…
"Aldrich, my dear, you are pulling Sebastian’s strings mercilessly." Aunt Lily puts her cup on a saucer with a meaningful clank. "And while I agree that most times it is quite entertaining, right now we have all had enough suspense. Who is that woman you are mooning over like a fool?"
"I have no idea!" Aldrich exclaims with manic glee as if it is the most exciting thing in the world. Oh God. It's worse than Sebastian could imagine. They are doomed.
“Well, we are waiting!” Aunt Lily raises her voice a bit and Sebastian notices that nobody drinks their tea anymore. Even Mrs Boone’s unobtrusive presence seems somehow more focused than before. That’s good. At least now they are taking this seriously.
Aldrich laughs again, a bit bashfully, and puts hands in the air in mocking surrender. “Fine, fine, I’ll tell you everything.”
Wait, is he blushing? Sebastian isn’t sure he believes his eyes.
“So, do you remember how last week I failed to obtain the emerald bracelet that was brought from Munich to the National Gallery for a special exhibition?”
At that Clara makes an undignified squeak. No doubt, she has something to say about the attempted theft of a priceless jewelry piece, but that is not the point at the moment. They weren’t even the ones who’ve stolen it, though not for the lack of trying! So, Sebastian is very grateful to Nakesha for a hearty elbow jab that prevented an untimely interruption.
Undisturbed, Aldrich continues: “As you know, my plan was flawless. Everything was going smoothly as a buttered biscuit. The guards were adequately subdued, the alarm system was off, Nakesha was waiting outside in a getaway Porsche. All that remained was to remove the glass and take the bracelet. And that’s exactly what she did! I saw her from the entrance of the hall, but it was already late to intercept. She made a run for it in the opposite direction. Naturally, I ran after her, although it would be easier to shoot her, I suppose. Still, I couldn't risk firing a gun at the museum. I’m not an animal.”
Clara snorts. Aldrich looks offended for a moment, but then sighs in defeat. “Well, long story short, when I got to the next hall, she was already gone. I’ve checked all obvious escape routes, but found nothing. Not a trace. All the CCTV cameras nearby were on a recorded loop thanks to us. And that’s the end of it. I was outplayed.”
He smiles, elated, as if Christmas came early. Sebastian groans internally.
“Well, then,” Aunt Lily says. “Surely you must have found out who this woman is? It’s been a week, as you said. No one can be that good—that we don’t know of.”
“Oh, Aunt Lily, believe me, I tried,” Aldrich chuckles dryly. “I’ve exhausted all the possible means aside from asking any of you for help. Sorry about that, by the way, but as you can see this is a personal matter. I’m sure you understand.”
There’s that ghastly awestruck expression on his face again.
“I’ve only caught a glimpse of her in the twilight. A brief memory. Oh, what a grace. What a beautiful laughter, like a chime in the wind. It’s like she was a ghost. Or some magical creature. I could almost come to think that I imagined her, but the lack of the bracelet in my possession seems to suggest otherwise.”
“So…” Nakesha drawls plaintively, “this girl has laughed at you and you’re not mad at her? You know what, Sebastian, this time you might be right. I believe we should find her, and fast. At the very least she has my birthday present.”
To Clara’s credit, she only rolls her eyes at that. Aldrich beams.
“As a matter of fact, you don’t need to worry about that. I have a plan!”
Aunt Lily sighs theatrically and asks for more tea and scones. Mrs Boone leaves for the kitchen. Clara shifts at her seat uneasily. Nakesha scoffs. Sebastian doesn’t bother with a reaction. It’s Aldrich, after all, of course he has a plan. What’s new? Good thing is he is forced to share it, so they have at least a chance to prevent the most devastating consequences.
Aldrich doesn’t pay them any mind, as usual.
“It’s quite simple, actually, as most good things are. As you might know, the Grand Duchess of Oldenburg is going to attend the Coronation and—” he points up a finger, “wear the twin bracelet to the one we haven’t managed to obtain. Obviously, I was planning to relieve the Grand Duchess of it anyway. They do look much better in a pair. So, all we have to do is wait for my lovely vis-a-vis from last week to reappear and this time be faster than her. Easy as rain.”
“Oh, and to think I was going to skip the Coronation this time,” Aunt Lily says scornfully, “but needs must. Nakesha, darling, could you ring the Palace and tell them we will need the booth they arranged for us after all?”
“Of course, Aunt Lily, right after we finish our tea.”
As if on cue, Mrs Boone appears with a steaming pot and freshly baked scones. Sebastian snatches one from the pile. It smells heavenly. Well then, no point to dwell on it for now.
“Clara,” he asks, “can you pass me the jam, please?”

You mentioned some black people have faced some discrimination in India. Apparently discrimination and hate crimes against Dalit people, Muslim people and some other people have risen since the Hindu nationalist party was last elected. I have also read some articles where some South Asian people who live in North America are sometimes told not to bring home a black man. And also the caste system in India, can cause casteism apparently. And casteism and colourism can mix together. And sometimes black immagrints are treated in India as if they were the lowest cast. I heard some news articles of a black woman who was accused of being involved in a car accident in India was stripped and harrassed and walked about the street. And there was a Northeast Indian person who was beaten by shopkeepers because they thought he had East Asian features. And there were four black students, who in India were falsely accused of involved or they were faulted for an Indian person going missing apparently. So there does seem to be a rise of Islamophobia, anti dalit sentiment, anti blackness, xenophobia and things like that in recent years apparently. There are also some stereotypes in India I read about, about black people that they are drug dealers, and cannibals and not good. I am confused about the anti-black racist stereotype of black immagrints in India being cannibals. So I think after some research I think I understand what you mean about the rise of antiblackness in India. Also apparently because cows are important to Hindu Indians, there have been some cow related hate crimes, from people who think they are protecting cows.
yeah exactly
there's a lot of colourism all throughout asia (and the world), and india is no exception. dark-skinned and black people in india face racial profiling, police brutality, and societal and systemic oppression
the caste system and the media are heavily influenced by colourism- light-skinned indians are more likely to be rich and more likely to be celebrities as they are considered more attractive and desirable
the hindu nationalist government actively discriminates against muslims and sikhs, making india a very unsafe place for people of those religions
in all, my family has avoided visiting india because (despite it being the home of our ancestors and distant relatives) my dad is dark-skinned by indian standards and we are muslim, which can be a deadly combination. not that we're any safer in canada, just that at least here we know our way around enough to have some idea of our safety level based on where we are. no one in my immediate family has been to india (my dad is from tanzania), so we don't know our way around enough to take the risk of going there

In progress list update :
Hobbit Soulmate - one new chapter is done and up with 61 for the Oscars outlined but not written out yet. Two chapters after that are mostly written fully, for what reason my brain only knows.
Brother Dearest - one new chapter done and up with another a third, if I’m being generous completed. (If you guys have any fun summer ideas I would be open to help on brainstorming for how to get past this summer I am trapped in)
Poke - next two chapters are written, I know I missed a posting. There was a furniture debacle I had to handle and just missed it for lack of energy to edit the chapter for posting. Three more chapters are done with the original Antman interaction being rewritten currently. So, progress and the finish line is in sight.
Anaticula : The start of the summer break is written. Same as the traveling to the chosen first match of the Quidditch World Cup. I have the opening ceremony with Freddie Mercury done and up to the second break eight hours into the day. So day one is almost done and will mark the start of chapter four that will be days 2-9 of round 1 before the family heads to Tanzania for around 2.
