THE SEVEN'S LISTENING HABITS

percy - it’s not that percy has a ‘mindless self indulgence’ vibe, it’s that mindless self indulgence has a ‘percy’ vibe. electro punk, with msi’s ‘lights out’ in mind. he has a very ‘blasts the speakers’ energy to him. annabeth - big ole comfy headphones. and nature podcasts, lol. for music, classical, maybe? she enjoys the greats, mozart, beethoven, etc. jason - jason is just. not geared to noise. he is built to pick up on little noises. and music is Too Much™. he 100% listens to rain. if i really had to choose, he’d probably listen to something in the midwest emo area. piper - pop rock-ish? think ‘campus’ but vampire weekend or ‘everybody talks’ by neon trees. i like to imagine she has the most ridiculously old and crappy earbuds because she enjoys how crunchy the audio becomes. leo - the opposite of jason, i'd imagine. he needs his brain filled with a consistent flow of noise. preferably at very loud volumes. not only does he have carpal tunnel, but he probably gets to the point where he needs hearing aids. hip hop, think ‘what’s up danger’ by blackway. (and those asap science songs, probably.) hazel - all i can tell you. is that she listens to shibuya-kei. look it up. it’s great. she turns the volume all the way up on her phone and lays in bed listening to music. it gets crunchy. deep fried. she loves it. frank - he really really likes the sound of violin. he looks up violin song covers. other than that he’ll listen to anything, really. music isn’t his number one priority, y’know?

WOW ok first of all, LOVE your art style, its such a perfect mix of realism while still having a distinct style omg. Second of all PLS DRAW THE BOYS! I simply can not get enough of art of those GUYS.

Also as for music headcanons I haven't really thought about it very much, but I can tell you what I have thought about and honestly I have no explanations. I am going completely off of vibes.

Tim we know is into like new wave post-punk. Joy Division, Devo, ect. Idk I don't listen to him when he talks. Going more into head canon realm I would also include like new wave gothic. The cure, siouxsie and the banshees, like 70-90's type alt. Huge music snob.

I feel Masky would have a different taste, same kind of era but heavier and more industrial. Rammstein, Nine inch Nails, maybe even DC punk type shit, minor threat, black flag, dead Kennedys, decendents. Suicidal tendencies idk

Brian and hoodie honestly I don't see as big music people, brian I can see being very into like synth pop, or like... I don't know how to describe what I'm thinking. I think tiktok was calling it dream core or like goblin core or something. That's what I imagine brian listening to LMFAO. Like jack stauber, vundabar, I dont know how but the found me, maybe a sprinkle of mother mother. Tbh I literally can't imagine hoodie listening to music LOL. That guy is weird idk I think he has autism! Anyways

As for toby. Honestly. I feel like he just listens to the same exact things as me. It just feels RIGHT. Lil bit of industrial (that's the only thing he and masky can agree on), a whole bunch of Midwest emo, like the real sad kind, mccaferty, Lincoln, mom jeans, sorority noise, the front bottoms (ok not that sad but whatever), pup, la dispute (ok not Midwest but WHATEVER) actually I don't know if any of those are actually ""Midwest emo"" but like you know, bands with that Midwest emo ~vibe~. But when hes not all up in his own head he'd be into the classics. My chem, peirce the veil, sleeping with sirens, you know what I mean by classics. He'd also get into the heavier stuff from time to time, motionless in white, Lorna shore probs. Like he listens to as much music as tim he's just not a damn SNOB ABOUT IT! So he's a little more diverse.

I wrote a lot more than I thought I would.

its officially my favorite time of the week ! music recap day !

ok so for artist this week, we have IDLES and title fight in the lead. checks out, i cannot listen to JUST one IDLES song. im a big big fun of mouth-full-of-peanut-butter-punk-british-accent, so basically theyre perfect. amazing instrumentals, super groovy and a song for any mood tbh. my favs are “meydei”, “colossus”, and “I’m scum”.

Title fight; you already know the deal. and if you don’t, look at any of my previous posts.

next up we got modern baseball and i hate sex. mobo, always here, near, and to my heart. if you wanna give them a listen i’ll recommend anything off of the the Perfect Cast EP, especially “alpha kappa fall of troy movie part deaux disc 2”. if youre looking for vibes and good guitar listen to “wedding singer”. if you want true sad midwest emo check out the entirety of the first album “sports” (notable tracks: “cooke”, “see ya sucker”. if you want good pop punk put on “youre gonna miss it all” (notable tracks: “old gospel choir”, “broken cash machine”). if you’re reflective and sad, sorry bro but if you listen to “holy ghost” it will get worse💚 (notable tracks: “breathing in stereo” [SUXH A GOOD FUCKING SONG ILL GO CRAZY], “just another face” [check out “how do i tell a girl i want to kiss her” from bren’s personal project on youtube]).

finally in the number five slot is Fugazi ! knew of them forever but finally gave them a full listen this week. a guy in my art class (thanks andrew), said that the vocals from title fight (i made him listen to them) sounded like them and i had to take a lil listen. I listened to the entirety of “13 songs” twice and enjoyed the whole thing. I dont have any notable tracks because i listened to then during my studio class. however if you liked anything ive posted before youll like them !

Well ummm my absolute favorite artist is Will Wood, though that should be obvious from the everything about me. His music helped me put so many of the things I struggle with into words cause voicing my feelings is a lot easier when I can use someone else’s words.

But in a broader sense I’m really into songs that have a story to tell from any genre really. It started with The Devil Went Down to Georgia cause my dad is a big Zac Brown fan, and since then I just roam platforms looking for songs I like.

Aside from WW I love to bring up

-grandson(rock/edm and punk themes)

-Days n Daze(Midwest emo/folk punk)

-Schafer James(spooky vibes and WW adjacent)

-Harley Poe(murder-folk is what I’d call it I guess)

-Rare Americans(idk what this is tho I think it’s rock of some kind?)

-Amigo the Devil(similar to WW and Schafer James as far as subject matter, but more folksy)

-and last but not least, The Taxpayers(another one I have no idea how to classify but I love how messy and raw they sound)

Idk you kinda gotta listen to them cause I really will listen to almost ANYTHING as long as it tickles my brain but most have a similar sound. Acoustic Instrumentals with lots of layers to the music and a narrative tends to be what most of them have in common

I’m also a classical music nerd but that’s it’s own essay tbh, I could ramble for hours about instrumental music and drum corps.

midwest emo is so much funnier tbh!, like dont get me wrong i love small town horror shit or the old regional gothic trend that was going around tumblr ages ago (tbh its so fucking good esp if u like shit like welcome to night vale )

but as someone who grew up in a village (the entire town?¿ was and still is around 5’000 ppl )

there is nothing funnier than being the alternative kid and people saying the devil lives in anything, like lady why would he live in a dilapidated church by the forest and only haunt “yall” be so forreal LMAO

hinata - definitely a rex orange county stan, like mellow indie songs and a bit of pop as well

favourite song: sunflower - rex orange county

kageyama - INDIE ROCK, he comes across as a bit of a music snob bc he doesnt like pop but he secretly vibes to the black eyed peas when he’s home alone

realized it's been forever since i've done a recent listening post. alright. here's the cream of the crop of what i've heard this year so far:

warning's watching from a distance. incredible doomy record. old school sabbathy vibes but has a nice resonate echo that really sticks with you.

suede's the blue hour, melancholy britpop at it's finest

cara neir's III / IV. this thing is so fucking weird it's like. you infused black metal into a midwest emo record and it worked? somehow? im a little bit obsessed with it.

sacrilege within the prophecy. doomy crusty thrash is some of my favorite music and this just proves why. the riffs on this thing kill so hard and the lead singers voice cuts through jussstt right

venom prison's new record erebos. always give a band credit for trying something new esp when they pull it off and stay heavy. im really into it

the piper at the gates of dawn by the one and only pink floyd. finally got to this and it's super fun! psychedelic and weird and strange in all the best ways

lots of mewithoutYou. im in love with them, they're incredible

heavens to betsy's discog. corin's voice is just one of my favorites i'd listen to any project she worked on no matter how shitty tbh

bitch's be my slave. old school heavy metal that'll whip your socks off. seriously women always rock lead vocals in metal, especially the soaring highs of the 80s.

unfortunately pop punk, and emo/midwest emo… also bubblegrunge and indie rock/indie punk apparently according to this one thing that scanned my spotify just now

9.how do you make your playlists?

i gotta be honest.. i am TERRIBLE at making playlist. i will make like a billion with only two or three songs on them cause im too much of a perfectionist and i always look up the lyrics to make sure the vibes are perfect and also that every song flows well into the next one its so bad. ive been making more recently just based around a vibe and then songs/artists i want to listen to more that fit it

10.what are the best playlists you’ve made?

like i said im not great at making them but this one of angsty pop punk break up songs i made when writing a fic and this one which is an ongoing playlist of alternative female & queer artists that i want to listen to more (i am always happy to get recommendations of what to add to it)

19.what artist did you know about before they got big?

honestly idk i used to have a lot of these like waaay back in 2013-2014 with bastille/arctic monkeys/flor/halsey but i dont listen to any of those artists anymore…and i cant think of any artists i listen to now that really got big..

DEPENDS WHAT KIND OF MOVIE/SHOWS/MUSIC ARE YOU IN TO SKSMDMDK

I like a wide variety of things so it’s hard to get specific. But imma try. I like rn LK but I also like things that show makes fun of too. I like Midwest emo- but I also take the piss outta it constantly. Idk. Hard to name genres bc I don’t wanna possibly miss out like I’ll give most things a peeksy unless there is someone in it that is a piece of shit. You’ll never see me watch movies w Casey Affleck. Or think that Jeff Dunham is funny when we all know what kinda “comedy” that is. (He’s that racist puppet dude w like mostly fans who are redneck conservatives) also on the topic of shitheads w the last name Dunham- GIRLS isn’t a show I’ll ever be able to get thru.

So it just depends but tbh send me any suggestions and I’ll still take a look. Horror, docs, old movies. Funny, weird, cringey but what ppl say are their guilty pleasures like reality tv isn’t all bad. And sometimes it’s so bad it’s good? Lol. I’ve been known to not turn away good jazz, SoundCloud rappers aren’t all terrible, bubblegum pop has it’s moments, bedroom lofi can be super relaxing. So see it’s varied a lot! Lmao just try me I wanna find new things to obsess over 😍

Some things I’ve already not liked or I’ve gone thru the phase of being into and I’m done w and don’t hold it close anymore are things like: arrested development, demon possession horror, reality dating shows, action movies that are 87% action sequences, SHERLOCK, doctor who, couldn’t ever get into supernatural for some tea related reasons plus it isn’t my kind of acting and writing style, anime, soap operas, novelas(I’m srry tias pls forgive me wherever u are🙏🏼), heavy metal, stadium rock, country music that has stereotypical yt hetero fake farmer w pro war pro gun pro military vibes, movies or shows w too much focus on torturing the women or girls just for the sake of it to enhance the male hero’s pain or rage or like drive to fight, things w too much focus on the sex lives of children and there’s 20 somethings playing them. Like that kinda stuff ik it sounds like I hate everything but tbh I like a lot of stuff too!!

i miss TOPs old music, like im not bitter they’re going even more so pop, good for them, but i do miss their midwest emo leaning stuff cuz midwest emo is probably my top favorite genre.

but also. if i had the ability to lucid dream. my first dream would be a foursome with those two and my gf. I know I’m a horrible, nasty person... but that kind of alt-leaning, midwest tattooed muscian family-loving 30 year old straight man vibe is my type in a nutshell. they’re hot. i’m not going to feel ashamed for it. I don’t obsess over it (like i maybe did in 8th grade) but they are my celeb crushes. uwu

I mean honestly that kind of fanatasy is probably healthier than believing if I got to know them I’d be their friend. cuz like, thats a nice thought, but i’m not gonna make any moral judgement on their personality and act like I “know” them, i just think they’re both aesthetically really fucking attractive. they can be horrible people irl for all I care, likely never going to even meet them (although i did meet and even trade numbers with one my other favorite bands, so who knows tbh) so why pretend i like their personalities when idk their personality. BUT i can watch a music video and think, “i would love to call this man Daddy(tm)”
