I feel the most comfortable asking you this but I am STRUGGLING with severe lag in my TS3 game. I just did a clean install, tried smooth patch, took it out bc it was conflicting with Nraas and didn’t make a difference, but it’s still nearly unplayable. I’ve tried every tutorial under the Sun. don’t remember having this issue years ago when I played. Do you have any tips or tutorials that you recommend? TY in advance!

the only tutorial i really followed was the sims 3 performance and bug fix guide hosted on steam which i'm sure most sims 3 players know about. i'm not sure how helpful my answer will be but this is what i would suggest:
smooth patch
i believe nraas and smooth patch conflict in create-a-sim mode, you can't enable master controller's compact mode with smooth patch integrated with it. so what i did was:
first, install smooth patch according to the MTS page instructions. you should have "ld_SmoothPatch" and "ld_SmoothPatch_MasterController" in your Mods/Packages folder
using s3pe, open "ld_SmoothPatch.package"
in the s3pe screen, right-click on the xml thingy named LazyDuchess.SmoothPatch.Tuning
in the right-click menu, click on "Notepad" then
make sure kMasterControllerIntegration value = "False"
save and close the notepad window. then, in s3pe, save the change you made and close s3pe.
nraas mc and smooth patch should no longer conflict. this is the only nraas mc and smooth patch conflict that i am aware of, unless there are others...? but that's how i got them to play together.
lag
the main issues that used to cause super long loading times for me and lagging during gameplay were the following:
thousands of unmerged cc packages in my mods folder
laptop had HDD instead of SSD
framerate was not capped
a lot of script mods installed which were probably conflicting with each other and using a lot of resources in the background
sooo the steps i took were:
organized and merged most of my cc packages into packages smaller than 1 GB - reduces lag and load times
changing my laptop's hard drive to a SSD decreased load times and reduced lag dramatically for me - also adding more ram to my laptop probably helped. but this is a pretty extreme option. i had to replace my hard drive with a SSD because it literally died.
when i used to play on my laptop with a HDD, capping the framerate to 30 or 60 FPS helped to reduce the lagging during gameplay. you can limit the game's framerate using smooth patch, using "3Booter", or thru your computer's graphics card.
script mods like nraas story progression and mingos birds and bees are script mods that are known to cause lag in the game because they are resource heavy. the only way to remove the lag is to uninstall them or, for nraas SP, i set the speed of the story progression to the slowest option.
so yeah i hope that is helpful <3

What games do you think resident lover characters would play?
i feel like alcina would be the type to do crosswords or sudoku to keep her mind sharp. bela would play chess for fun or some sort of board game if she must, but she really doesn't have the time to play games.
daniela would be very into video games, especially retro games or 8-bit games.
cassandra is more into card games and charades because she gets to act but will pick up the occasional video game like mario cart to play with daniela.
angie is into drinking games, but she also enjoys stardew valley or GTA.
donna would play plants vs zombies, or the sims and then make a sim of miranda and give her horrible endings while donna's sim would marry mc's sim
and miranda already plays games with the time loop and students lives so she's already living a real life squid games 😓

TS3 UL Uniforms converted to CU (+ some other BG items)
Needed uniforms for my -sim- kids (& wanted some game-friendly items) so I decided to make some age conversions. Probably EA didn’t want to give us ideas about open schools when they released UL without versions of these items for children 😌
* if you’re playing with open schools or just want all the kiddos in the neiborghood to wear these uniforms, take a look at the end of this post for links to instructions on how to achieve that.

because @scuba-gragas (your acc is NOT linking for some reason) freaked out over one of my edit captions and im like. why not share more sad stuff about donna! and also silly stuff in here too.
AND NO IM NOT PUTTING "ATTEMPTED BEFORE" IN HERE THIS IS NOT SOME SAD SOME RANDOM
repeating this from the edit but due to her tendency to remember numerous timelines, donna has even more of a SEVERE fear of being abandoned by mc and lacks a lot of self confidence in the relationship. she remembers mc being happy with the others, what if they did a better job than her? what if mc goes to them? or perhaps, what if the loop occurs and mc goes to someone else, and donna sees them just act happier? was she easily replacable?
however, sometimes donna DOES express her relationship anxieties and mc always does help out; its not all torment for donna, dont worry. as time goes on she always tries to be more open with mc about her feelings
okay back to sad. i imagine this happens to everyone but in their own way, but donna is a sleep hugger. so when she wakes up the day after the loop, shes hugging a pillow instead of mc and she just sits there for a bit. sometimes, she doesnt really get it, other times, she instantly knows what happened. she hates the feeling of waking up that morning and thinking she has someone in her arms, only to have an empty spot in her bed.
really good at claw machines. when angie was younger, she loved going to the arcade, and so donna mastered the art of claw machines to get angie a bunch of prizes (and sometimes herself).
invested in noise cancelling headphones / earbuds once she got with mc. she wears them a lot everywhere and even went to her first concert with them, it helps her not be overstimulated.
she hates herself for this, but part of her prays that mc stays with miranda after she has to wipe belas memories. she cant stand the thought of hurting her niece again in another loop.
would probably get a sims addiction, but specifically making sims.
plays relaxing video game soundtracks in the store (dani, angie, and mc often update the playlists)
she sells those fake flowers on april fools that shoot water at peoples faces.

im struggling with wording this but like. when donna realizes the loop has occured she always just takes a bunch of time to prepare herself for whatever is going to happen, but ESPECIALLY knowing she has to murder someone for angie again. shes basically doomed to do this forever until mc gets with miranda; and i KNOW angie sometimes isnt a doll but. lets forget about that!! i just imagine shes always a doll anyways, it makes more sense that way, and either way, a loop where angie is fully human is just a temporary break for one of donna's many problems.
ethel cain stan
hates hospital shows for MANY reasons. she doesnt like seeing the hospitals first of all, she doesnt like seeing when the people die, and she hates the medical inconsistencies.
in loops where bela and mc have a family (sigh), she can't help but literally try to keep her distance. they won't have their family for long, and she cant bear to tell them that (although bela is most definitely aware) or even get attached to their baby, she doesn't want to lose someone close again (although bela does not catch onto this; she tries to get donna involved as opposed to alcina)
owns a typewriter
constantly has a tab of solitaire open on her laptop.
theres a picture of markiplier hidden in her room and she doesnt know it. angie hid it there and has been waiting for donna to find it. thing is? she hid it before the loop started. so it is permanently there for every loop.
always has really cutesy and simplistic halloween costumes she wears in her flower shop for the holiday. her favorite costume is a bee.
loves build-a-bear. it obviously takes her some time to get ready to go there (she often plans out their least busy times), but she loves to make her own plushes for her collection and buy them new clothes. eventually takes mc there for a date and they adopt a bear together.
but outside of that? she really hates getting new ones there during the loops. she gets really attached to them and she hates knowing they're only there for a short time.

hates the smell of nail polish
great hugger, even if she doesn't give them out that often.
owns a bunch of retro game consoles and likes to collect them, although she doesn't get much time to play them.
hates the bee movie; angie loves it
while mc obviously does open her eyes, donna still struggles with the concept of even trying to get better because she knows its all just going to loop. yes, she will work on things and they will improve, but certain things will revert back to normal after the loop anyways.
once tried to dance in the rain for fun and ended up getting a cold instead.

Creating the yanbois in Sims 4 and "accidentally" trapping them in the basement:
(I was inspired to do this after Nick creates Fone and Krow in Sims 4. And please dont attac me, ik their appearance is not accurate bc there's a limited male cc that fits on them, and im using mostly maxis match cc bc alpha cc is not my taste so yea, its hard to find exactly the hair and their exact ootd. Just doing this for fun, instead of doing my laundry and going to grocery)

DAY 1:
- MC just invited them to a dinner party. They didnt suspect anything, maybe MC just like the basementcore aesthetic they've said. Until they realized, the door wont open and MC is nowhere to be found..
- its time for a group huddle with Mallows (the cat in a bee costume) as their advisor. Mallows keeps going down in the basement, maybe bc Fone is there? Idk but yea, im just going to make him my warden. Mallows will be MC's eyes.. But something happen:
- well, Mallows the Cat in a Bee Costume, is a strict warden. He keeps hissing and ends up fighting with Nova and Fone (the betrayal). Everytime they do group huddle, Mallows are doing jiu jitsu on them 😂 The reason: Mallows just woke up and choose violence that day.
-and theres Friend, the type of roommate who loves to clean, like the first thing he do is judge my kitchen counter and brushed it aggresively, like hey its not even dirty!? Friend doesnt care that he has been trapped in a basement. The most important thing is to make this place clean. The entire time, besides Mallows Wrestlemania segment, Rens infamous Mac & Cheese and the group meeting, he goes back cleaning and washing the dishes.
- and here is Ezra questioning how MC pulled a reverse uno card on him and yep! thats the face of pure regrets of eating Ren's Mac & Cheese. (I missed to take a screenshot of that moment when Ren is cooking Mac and Cheese, Fone and Nova keeps teaching him how to cook, Ren dropping the salt shaker in the pan and Ezra being the first one to eat it)
- Nova and Harper fighting for this one bed, even tho there are 7 beds. They keep doing a staring contest, whoever blink, will lose this bed (like its always this bed, sometimes if Harper is the one who sleep on this one, Nova would sleep on the floor instead of choosing another bed 😭 Nova, i have this urge to put a vent on the basement just to spite you.. Stop sleeping on the flooooor!
- Ren and Krow napping peacefully on their first day as long as Ren promised to never cook again. And yes, finally they used their own bed! They discovered that the bed I put in there is for sleeping not for just aesthetic n shit, praise the lo-
- and a rare photo of Fone exercising 😊 after turning off the tv everytime someone watches it. Fone cares about MC's electric bill. Be like Fone. I refuse to use motherlode so you really need to save on electricity guys.
- and introducing MC, was recently turned as a vampire and instead of buying a blood pack, they choose to build a basement, and put all the yanbois and make them her own blood bank.
Will try to add the another yanbois like Virgil, Robin, Morogh, Henry, Keith, Ten etc. Just hoping that my Sims wont crash 🤞 (bc the maximum household members including pets are 8, so i think but im hoping that it will not be laggy when I add another batch of yanbois hahahahaha, i can hear now my pc cursing me in c++ language 😂)

Rectifier Devlog #1 (March)
Guess who's back, back again- devlogs are back, tell a friend!
Hey hey, it's Joy! I've been taking a break finally-mostly just streaming while waiting for Otome Jam 2024. I've known I was going to participate in Otome Jam since this time last year LOL. (I've had to keep it's existence as mostly a secret for an entire year, which was difficult since it's probably my favorite project I've ever worked on, and has a cast of the best characters like ever.)
THIS PROJECT- "Rectifier" has been a WILD ADVENTURE. Fitting since it's an epic high fantasy adventure dating sim, where you play as an alien angel with 3 different personalities, traveling with your SEVEN super distinct love interests.
Each guy is based off of one of 7 deadly sins. Which means they alone, and in a group are a handful.
I want to just talk about a handful of things about the project as a whole, and what you can expect if you are interested.
For those that have played my most recent game "Lord of Lies" you won't feel so out of the loop. Though playing Lord of Lies before Rectifier is by no means a requirement. They just take place in the same universe. So the magic, world, and art is the same. Yes, same sprite artist! GET HYPED!
Rectifier is a special project as it is the exact dating sim I want to play. You step into the role of an Angel or more specifically a Nephelim, a celestial race of aliens who can shapeshift at will, have a great deal of magic at their disposal, and work to save humanity for themselves.
The project's mood is the most similar to "One Piece", "Avatar the Last Airbender", and many other action/adventures with a diverse cast of whacky characters- but if you could date them all.
The MC will have 2 appearances- masculine and feminine leaning, but you can be: she/her, he/him, or they/them.
What affects the game and your MC mostly is one of their 3 distinct personalities- Red, Green, and Blue respectively.
Red- dominant, confident, aggressive, and decisive.
Green- neutral, alien, observant, and intelligent.
Blue- submissive, diplomatic, understanding, and altruistic .
This personality system is one of the most unique aspects about Rectifier- you have 7 love interests and can romance them 3 different ways. So in a way, you've got 21 unique story experiences. Regardless of your choices/personality you can't get a bad end, and you and your chosen guy will fall in love in their own specific way.
Neat huh?
Although your choices don't lead to a bad end, that doesn't mean they don't have any impact in the story. Your personality/choices will affect specific story events, how characters react to and speak about you. Especially your love interest.
What's important to me was that players could sit down with the story and feel stress free. Though this doesn't mean the story won't have twists and turns.
Something special as well, is that no matter which love interest you choose, you still spend a huge amount of time with the other guys as they are your party members no matter what. Meaning you can get to know them again as friends. All the guys have complex relationships with one another, and maybe chemistry..? Who knows...hehe.
This is also the first project of Meant to Bee where I am working with multiple writers. This has been a wonderful decision as with such a large project, I worried I wouldn't be able to make each guy feel unique and interesting by myself lol. I will be writing one route all by myself. (Greed's route).
Regardless, I am creative director, lead writer, and programmer for this project- among many other things. I have a hand in every part of production, so it will still have my scent all over it...could have phrased that better LOL.
It's important I note one thing. Our submission to otome jam will actually be a spin off game.

WAIT WHAT?
Yeah, so... the project is quite large as you may have already guessed. I planned for a long time to release a huge demo showcasing the world and characters, covering the first couple chapters of each route, however...I didn't feel all that confident in that idea.
There's a lot of groundwork necessary for this project
So suffice it to say, I felt OVERWHELMED. And if I someone whose been sitting with this project since it was a spark of an idea felt that way. I knew for a fact my audience would also feel that way.
I needed more time, and otome jam was only getting closer everyday. I thought about compressing it, cutting corners here, simplifying concepts I loved, etc... but none of it sat right with me.
I was at a loss, and even went into a period of burn out/creator's block as a result. I've loved and I mean, adored, worshiped this project since the moment I decided I wanted to work on it. (that's a story for a whole other devlog) It's the kind of project where I HAD to show it to friends, months before it was ever meant to be announced.
I worried I would be doing the story, my team, and myself a disservice if I released it feeling the way I was. So much behind the scenes work has been made for this game.
I didn't want to release it and it be info dump-y, take too long to get to the hot boys, or cut short before it gets into the meat of the story. You only get one chance to make a good first impression. I want my readers to be interested, invested, clawing for more.
The demo focuses on setting up a lot of LORE, which can be interesting if we have enough time to make it interesting. It has to be strategic, it needed more time.
But otome jam is the best chance for this project to gain the attention it deserves. I didn't want to miss the window. So I was caught between a rock and a hard place.
UNTIL- I had a eureka moment...a side game.
But Joy (I can hear you asking yourself) a side game for a game that doesn't exist???
Yes.
I know why people play dating sims- for the boyssss, sure an interesting story is great- but ultimately it is background dressing. The story will be deep and detailed, but that's for the main game to worry about balancing the rich story with dating sim mechanics and conventions.
The side game, just fun dating sim, with little hints to a bigger picture.
You'll meet our boys in media res. You'll be thrown into what the heart of the game is. If you like where you land, then I'm sure you'll love the demo when it's released at a later date.
The Rectifier main game is VERY MUCH still a priority for me. But for now, for my team and I's first ever otome jam we are going to have fun and show you what we've been working so hard on.
So let me reintroduce you to our newest project...
"Rectifier: In Bloom"
The game will center around you/the MC receiving a flower from all your love interests in their very specific way. (This is a very rough concept sketch, but by the time all the love interests are revealed we will have an itch page.)
"Rectifier: In Bloom" will be a complete game! Each route will be anywhere from 5k-10k words, so you can get a good sense of each guy, and pursue them fully in the main game, as well as get a taste of the world, personality system, and feeling of the Rectifier world.
It's the best choice for my team and I to test the waters for both us and our player base. So I hope you'll enjoy this side game when it releases. We will make it so you can go in blind and still enjoy your time.
There's so many wonderful things I want to show. And I am so glad I am finally getting the chance to bring this story to life.

So I like playing Sims 4 Decades/Legacy challenges, where basically you start in 1890 and try to get to modern day. There's a bunch of rules, but I enjoy making it as hard as possible.
My last attempt ended tragically, and I wanna share it with y'all.
It started off promisingly: the two founders arrived as winter rolled in, and though the first winter was brutal with only a tent and some seeds, they managed to scrounge up enough money and food to make it through. The two original Brisbys had a son (Moses) and several daughters (who went off and got married). Moses successfully married a woman named Helen and he and his wife had already given birth to their first child, a daughter named Iris. Helen was pregnant with their second child.
With the onset of winter I did a death roll for everyone to simulate winter illnesses. It didn't go well, and that was the start of the end.
Who was living on the farm as this dark winter closed in:
Grandpa Brisby
Grandma Brisby
Moses Brisby (eldest son)
Helen Brisby (Moses' wife, pregnant)
Iris Brisby (Moses and Helen's eldest child)
As winter took hold, Grandmother Brisby and her son, Moses Birsby both died of illness (aka they failed their death rolls).
In midwinter, Helen gave birth - a son (Fletcher), an heir for the Brisby family. Helen survived the birth.
Grandfather Brisby died naturally of old age as winter came to a close.
As spring arrived, Helen was alone with a newborn and a toddler, several chickens, a cat, and a cow, all depending on her. She was struggling. She was constantly tired and filthy, her enjoyment of life was at zero, the animals were doing poorly, and she needed help. So, she managed to find herself a new husband. Darrin Quentin stepped up to the role of father and everyone was doing very well. As spring rolled into summer Iris aged up into a child, Fletcher aged into a toddler and began to eat solid food, and Helen became pregnant with Darrin's child.
(I play that women who are breastfeeding can't get pregnant. IRL this is not a perfect form of birth control but it does work fairly well).
Now, one thing I've taken from the harder rules is that if I notice the Sims exhibiting symptoms of illness (dizzy head, etc), I do a death roll.
Helen went out to the bee hive - it had been neglected over the winter. She'd never cared for the bees, but there were mites and plenty of honey to collect, so it needed tending. She wore the beekeeper suit just in case. However, as she was walking away from the beehive, she got dizzy... and I had to roll. She failed the roll, and she died while carrying Darrin's child. I imagine this story-wise as she died from an allergic reaction to a bee that stung her as she was taking off the bee suit.
Now Darrin was alone on the farm, and he was actually managing fairly well because Iris was now a child and could help with most of the farm chores, leaving him to do his best in his grief to raise Fletcher... Until Darrin got sick, too. And with a bad roll, he died as well - perhaps from grief. And the game ended because there were no more adults on the lot.
Fun observation: I use MCCC (MC Command Center) to do deaths, because getting a cow plant is a pain in the ass. I was able to see something interesting when I clicked on Helen to set her her to die. The Sims 4 sets pregnant sims to "immortal" while they're pregnant. I gather this means things like fire, repeated lightning strikes, hunger, etc, cannot kill them while they're pregnant. MCCC can still kill them, obviously, it was just a fascinating observation.

Not seriously but I don’t think having children is realistic for me. I love babies ! I will decorate nurseries in the sims and I like spending time with my very young cousins. However I’m not good with kids. The noise, the mess, their needs and issues are more complex and I simply don’t have the patience.
I really want a strong career so that doesn’t leave much time for child rearing. Also probably would be hard on my health. I’m not entirely closed off to it. Just being honest. Maybe as I age I’ll be more open to it. If I had a partner that was willing to stay home with the kids and I was financially stable maybe. Not a very large family though.
MC what kind of reputation do you think you have? already answered but I’m intimidating.

This is like. No, this IS the only dating sim I've ever replayed. I think I've played it... 9 times now? I just replayed Miranda's route to get the cult ending and MAN. MANNNNNN the way she told MC as she was bleeding out "You can go around with whoever you want, but you will ALWAYS be MINE" gave me fucking CHILLS.
Like she's been waiting for MC for what. 30-50 years at this point? MC absoLUTELY is in love with her, wants to bang her (has Miranda even been LAID since MC died last time??? Whole different discussion) but Miranda is just like "Hmm. No. Not good enough. Well this version of you is nothing to me stabby stab."
Are you guys by any chance going to set up something like a ko-fi? I love this game - I am also looking forward to your next game! I'd love to like donate money your way so you can buy a coffee when you're out working in a cafe or buy take out on evenings when you just want to work and not cook/clean up.
I'm about to start my replay on Bels's route, now that I know about the loop, and am so excited~
