Another way all of these struggles are connected, is the way media decides to automatically exonerate the perpetrators.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is clear as day, how corporate US media decides to be complicit in the normalization of violence by deciding how it wants to cover things. The bias is in the headlines, and these are just two specific examples.
There is no way that these companies should be getting away with this. There needs to be groups of people to hold a fire to them. If nothing is done, fascists will continue to openly define how events are perceived by the general public in media.

y'know, back when I used Reddit, if you found some hateful content of any sort, it wasn't that hard to report it. You clicked the "Report" button, selected "Hateful Content" out of the wide variety of options available, and then clicked the "Submit" button. I did this pretty often, because some of the communities I was in attracted rather unsavory characters as a side effect.
Do you know what happened next? Next, I received an automated message that said basically "Hey, thanks for reporting This Content (link to reported content). We've received your report and will review it shortly." Usually, a day or two later, you'd receive another message in your inbox saying "Thanks again for reporting. We found this content in violation of our TOS and have removed it." Sure enough, if you followed the link back to whatever you reported, it would be gone.
It was that easy. No explaining yourself, no explaining yourself again but differently, no redirect to a new tab, you didn't even need to know the specifics of what did or didn't violate TOS. No matter what happened, they would write back and tell you what was going on. If the reported content didn't violate TOS, they would tell you.
When I hopped over here full-time, I continued that reporting habit, thinking it'd be largely the same experience. I have had complete and utter radio silence from @staff on every single report I've ever filed. Have I been making a difference? Is my voice being considered? Who knows! But it certainly hasn't felt like it so far.
At least now I know those reports were going straight into the garbage, rather than just having to wonder.

Mercedes were actually closer to P2 in the WDC at this point last year than they are this year and they didn't pull team orders to chase for it then either, so please can we stop the narrative that they're trying to sabotage Lewis in some way...

got wonder what they thought disclosing a former employees private medical records and then putting out a public apology first and foremost to your investors was supposed bring them in the long run

When I tell my father I don't want to get a driving license because my eye condition would make me a danger to others and myself on the road ESPECIALLY if I'm tired and he tells me to just 'sleep more'

After a lot of begging, Bakugo has agreed to train Todoroki to prepare a meal to surprise Fuyumi.
Bakugo shuddering while remembering the training camp vegetables Todoroki butchered: Listen here, Half and Half. You? Don't touch any knives without supervision. You? Are on recipe duty.
Todoroki, scanning the recipe thoughtfully: ... roast the chicken for 25 minutes or 30 minutes if you have large breasts... *looks pensive for a moment before studying Bakugo's chest* better do 30 minutes.
Bakugo, noticing his eyeline: YOU LITTLE SHIT, THESE AREN'T BREASTS! AND THAT'S NOT WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT! GET THE HELL OUT OF MY KITCHEN, ICY HOT.
Sero watching intently from the common room couch: Guess 'Roki is off of recipe duty...
Kaminari smiling, pleased with himself as Bakugo shoves Todoroki out of the kitchen and prepares to just cook the meal himself: Heh, I taught him well.
Based on a hilarious comic I saw by @pochiikou

Absolutely shocking statements coming from Ferrari, doubling down and defending their pit stop decisions, still believing they are in the right. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know it was the wrong call; you have your own driver telling you that, half the grid pitting, and everyone online and in front of the TV scratching their heads at the amateur move. Have some shame.

I guess what bothers me about a lot of disability justice approaches to healthcare -- the "doctors must trust that patients are the experts of own bodies" approach -- is that this is the perspective of people with high health literacy written for audiences of people who also have high health literacy, most of whom I think truly do not grasp just how many people have extremely poor health literacy, especially those from groups who for reasons of race, class, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, and/or often a combination of these factors are less likely to have access to accurate health information and culturally competent, trustworthy healthcare providers. When it comes to health and wellness, quite a number of people in our society don't know jack about shit! Even more hold a number of factually inaccurate folk beliefs that range from unhelpful to dangerous. (Hell, even if you have a high degree of health literacy, you probably hold some unexamined false beliefs too, because that's how culture works!) It's true that people are the experts on symptoms as they feel them, but most people are not experts on what those symptoms mean in a medical sense or what can be done about them.
It's a massive blind spot and a symptom of the larger problem of Disability So Educated -- that the vast majority of disability/chronic illness advocates/activists are heard ARE experts on their bodies, because they've had to become experts, but they were able to do so because they are a) literate in English, b) medically literate, c) information literate, and d) have access to and understanding of how to navigate the internet, whereas your average person, particularly your average disabled person, is not. And if you want to create a radical healthcare system that is truly equitable and just -- as opposed to an oligarchy of the educated, i.e. what we have now -- that proposed system has to account for both EDS/MCAS/POTS patients who come in with a 4" three-ring binder of medical literature AND patients who firmly believe that ivermectin cures COVID, vaccines cause autism, co-sleeping with infants is safe, there's no difference between a rescue inhaler and preventative medication, and having an average blood sugar of 600 is perfectly healthy as long as you feel fine.
