I think you're actually spot on, and that could definitely be why people don't seem to warm to him, but then equally I think it's still a pretty terrible reason for people to 'hate' the guy because it says more about them than it does him?! See... I wrote that tag and then realised there's a couple of bits in DTS actually that spring to mind.

The original one I was thinking of though was the bit in S6 where they're in Vegas and the show director is giving them the pep talk and uses the phrase "Play to the audience" and George pipes up "What are we playing?". Like dude just straight up processed it in a literal context a bit like when you tell a kid to go and wash their hands in the toilet and they actually do. (And I know there's some people think he knows what he's doing and it's an intentional dad joke but... I'm not sure, I do still think it's the first 🤣)

But also I feel like his "I've got four beds in my bedroom" line in s5 also applies because a) the way he says it seems to be completely nonchalant like its just a perfectly normal addition to the conversation (and yes, editing, obviously) but also b) he seems genuinely surprised that people think what he's said is funny?

I don't think it's a Formula e issue, I think it's pretty much a motorsports issue in general. It was only last year we had an f1 driver break a wrist for the same reason. I mean, to be perfectly honest, it's equally an issue with a normal road car too. If you leave your hands holding on to any sort of wheel that's trying to turn at high speed, you risk a wrist or hand injury. It's more just a basic physics issue?
