Anyone else have a period of time where you were trying to overcorrect from your not-like-other-girls phase and force yourself to dress and present more feminine even though it made you uncomfortable?
#everyone says they came out of that phase loving pink and makeup and dresses but I sure as hell didn’t#I know cause I tried#cause it turns out when you grow up feeling like your experience is alien to what you’re supposed to be#and then you’re told it’s bad to think about yourself as separate and develop a shitty little superiority complex about it#the lesson you come out of it learning isn’t necessarily that you need to examine your biases against feminine things#it’s that you need to try harder to conform to the experience of girlhood that the media and your peers have presented you#because otherwise you’re just as bad at being a girl as you were when you were little#I dunno can you tell I’m a little bitter here?
