THE POPPY PLAYTIME CHAPTER 3 TRAILER IS SOOO!,?!.?.!.
What a great treat to wake up to—Excuse me while I go insane and spill some thoughts, reactions, theories, and predictions below please
ahem
Tumblr media
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
SO LIKE FIRST OFF this chapter is gonna fuck, like this looks SO good holy shit
The setting and environment looks amazing but also the new hands mechanic along with the mask ohhhh this is gonna be FUN
Okay rambling about screenshots I took time
First off the environments look great, holy wow
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The house itself looks kinda small so idk if that is the orphanage itself or some kind of set. Cause you can see fake sky walls around it, but like this is Playtime Co they would definitely do that to the orphanage also to give an illusion of outside. Either way it looks GREAT and I’m really excited to explore this setting
Just a nice shot of all the critters
Tumblr media
I’m really curious if all the critters are gonna be utilized somehow. We know about Catnap and Dogday already, especially after the trailer itself. Though there was also the footage of Bobby running down the hall, looking like a normal plushie, and possibly seeing Hoppy in the trailer too. (I’ll touch on that later)
New Poster
Tumblr media
Definitely looks like some company propaganda to try and keep kids from being afraid of CatNap. Judging by the files we got before looks like the results were a mixed bag. Considering the gas is there in the poster it’s definitely a company only poster, not something they could sell outside. They manipulated this kids so bad man :(
A CLEANER LOOK OF THIS THING,,,
Tumblr media
THATS A SKELETON COMING OUT OF PUGAPILLAR’S MOUTH…Like that’s just straight up human remains.
I don’t think we’ve ever seen that before in this game. Like blood yeah plenty but BONES? They’re definitely amping things up for this chapter and I’m 100% here for it.
Besides that there’s a ton of plushies and such stabbed onto this weird thing. Is it a shrine? It doesn’t look like it could really move tbh, and if it was meant to be alive those parts aren’t doing anything to help it.
This poor mf
Tumblr media
I’ve seen a lot of people speculate this is DogDay, which is a valid guess, but tbh my first thought was Hoppy. You can tell they have long droopy ears, which lines up with both candidates to me. Though I think the ears look a bit slimmer than what Dog Day’d would be, plus the angle on the head looks more like they’re dropping from the top of the head rather than the sides. I feel like if this was DogDay the whole head silhouette would be different because of the ears, which makes me lean towards Hoppy more.
I know her toy gives her long pointed up ears, but going off art and animation her ears can definitely fold
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I don’t think it’s out of the question that as a Bigger Bodies being her ears could fold over like that, especially while stuck like this.
Now I could be the one wrong here but I really think this is Hoppy. Won’t know until the game itself though so, I won’t treat either as divinities yet. It could just as easily be the case everyone else is right and it is DogDay, there’s evidence for that as well (Again, I’ll touch on that later).
So much happened here where do I even start
Tumblr media
Obvious out the bat I guess, Kissy Missy is back!! And looks like Poppy isn’t ditching us alone either! Man I cannot tell it Poppy is good or not at this point, gray area? Trailer dialogue definitely sounded like she was supporting us.
“We’re coming! Just hold on!”
It’s really nice seeing Kissy back, really excited to see how she’s gonna help and play into this. I’ve been on the stance that she’s good ever since she helped in chapter 2 so this is really cathartic for me lmao.
As for what Poppy says here I found it interesting, like really interesting. Like, hearing it the first time made me think she casually confirmed something massive interesting. Granted, actually thinking about it longer, it could mean something else entirely. But was that the whole point?
“What’s happening down here is bigger than all of us. I need you. So we can revenge on those monsters who’ve tortured you, who’ve tortured us.”
“Those monsters who’ve tortured you”
Now, once I thought about it this is most likely referring to the literal monsters in the factory. Huggy, Mommy, CatNap, so on and such. But that’s not what my initial assumption was.
When Poppy referred to “monsters”, by first thought was the people working at the factory. I thought she said people at the factory tortured us.
I thought she confirmed that we’re a toy.
Once I thought about it longer, it doesn’t actually confirm that. But what if that’s the entire point? A double meaning line?
Now the player being a toy theory is something that’s been around since chapter 1, a theory I’ve fully stood by since then and still do. I like to think that’s why our character is completely silent, we’re a toy that can’t speak. Mute toys is something we’ve seen plenty of in the factory, more so than toys that actually talk. (Unless you count stuff like the Smiling Critters cartoon or the cardboard cutouts, but I’m talking purely living beings here.)
So while this doesn’t confirm the theory, this line is definitely throwing wood into the fire for me.
DogDay
Tumblr media
Wether or not the chained Bigger Body above us DogDay or Hoppy, we have it confirmed here that DogDay is featured heavily in this chapter as an enemy. Again, I really wonder if the other Smiling Critters will show up as threats as well. Maybe a mixed bag of good and bad critters. If the chained up Bigger Body is DogDay, I wonder why he chases us after we assumingely set him free.
One note I’ll give that is to evidence for the chained bigger body being DogDay is that in the thumbnail you can see a shackle on his wrist
Tumblr media
His arms are also long and lanky, which is why I won’t completely rule out it possibly being him there. It’s just as possible that it is him, both feel very plausible to me.
Though looking at the game footage, I’m not sure if can can see anything on his wrists. Additionally his arms look much wider than the one in thumbnail.
Additionally, the DogDay in the thumbnail looks so much like a…mascot suit? You can see seams and stitches all over him. Even other Bigger Bodies don’t look like that. Which is something I wanna give its own post to to figure deeper on.
So is this even the same DogDay at all?
Tumblr media
It’s not completely out of the question there could be multiple DogDays, though that begs the question, what about other Smiling Critters? What about other toys as a whole?
Here’s my prediction on it. One Bigger Bodies experiment, and then there’s smaller ones approximately the size of their normal toys.
I think the DogDay in the thumbnail is a result of the Bigger Bodies testing, and the one actually chasing us is just a smaller more “normal” DogDay.
But if that’s true then it begs the question, what about other critters? We’ve seen a smaller Bobby before, does she also have a Bigger Bodies version?
Do they all have a Bigger Bodies equivalent?
Is there still a normal CatNap?
Again, all speculation but this chapter especially is really tickling my brain.
And finally we’ve got the man of the hour
Tumblr media
Man he is so much lankier than I thought he would be. That definitely explains why his face was so high up on that one cam footage though. Here I was thinking he’d be bulky!
There isn’t too much to say here other than CatNap is definitely gonna be an imposing threat, and I’m very excited to see him in game. So far we’ve mainly seen him through silhouettes, and light peeks at small portions of his design. Seeing him better is game is gonna be a thrill and I’m so ready for it!
Additionally, just for the sake of adding on, we’ve seen these posters apparently from overseas get spread around lately
Tumblr media
Both of these definitely look like they’re meant to be company only posters, ones you’d find in the schooling and orphanage areas.
The left poster telling kids to go inside right away when recess is up, nothing super deep here. Just a peek at the schooling that had here, and that these kids had their lives completely contained within the factory.
The second poster is CatNap telling Huggy to go to sleep, another attempt at convincing children CatNap isn’t dangerous. If Huggy is fine they will be too, right?
Anyways that’s my initial thoughts and reactions right after watching the trailer. VERY excited about this game, it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to brainstorm on my own over a game like this so I’m really looking forward to what this chapter has to give.

WAIT WAIT WAITTTT. BESTFRIEND!ETHANLANDRY X READER BUT HE GETS HER PREGO AND HE LIVES AND BEGS TO BE FORGIVEN🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽I BEG
yes its me. the one who wants more, but my birthdays in 2 hours tho (may10) SCREAMING
“Please”
Pairing: Bsf!Ethan Landry x Reader
Warnings: Possible spoilers from Scream 6, use of Y/N, D/N is for daughter’s name
Synopsis: Ethan and you were friends with benefits until he reveals his true identity. Even after all this, he survives and begs to be apart of the baby and your life
Tumblr media
It’s been a year.
A year since you last saw his face. A year since everything crumbled apart around you.
It all happened so fast but so slowly at the same time. One moment you guys were in his bed making out and a second later, you were in the shrine while Ghostface was taking off his mask to reveal curly brown hair.
You didn’t want to believe it at first, thinking it was all a nightmare because why would your bestfriend with benefits be behind all this mess? He looked at Tara and Sam first and when his eyes laid on your face, his cruel expression softened for a few seconds like he was apologetic before getting back to his cruel self…But it all looked fake.
At this moment, you wanted to cry. Bawl your eyes out as you asked yourself a single question.
“Did he wanted to add these benefits only to take advantage of me before killing me?”
This question haunts you day and night ever since discovering who was behind the mask-
A high pitched cry interrupted your thoughts and you sighed as you stood up from the couch.
After you had rocked her in your arms for what seemed like an eternity with her cries echoing in your ears, she had finally found again some sleep, but still kept her in your arms.
At one point, the doorbell rang throughout the appartement.
You quickly walked toward the door. It was probably Chad, Sam or Tara
“Hi-" you begin but the greeting die in your throat as you immediately recognize who was at the door.
That wasn’t Chad, Sam or Tara…no it was an undead.
He haven’t changed much except for his hair that got a bit longer and his gaze wasn’t as innocent as it pretended to be before. Now it was dry without an ounce of joy…until he laid eyes on your daughter
Our daughter.
Did he noticed how much she looked like him? She has the same tuft of curly hair, same eyes, nose and the same smile that could make anyone’a heart melt.
“Good evening Y/N” he greets you and tried to make a soft smile.
It’s like you snapped out of my trance and everything that happened twirled inside your head. Anika, Quinn, Gale, the core 4. Every memories came back like a tsunami of thoughts.
“Stay back” you muttered as I walked backwards.
Your hold on D/N increased a bit and he noticed the way your hold her even closer to you. His eyes were filled with an apologetic and ashamed look.
Ashamed of himself.
“Please just listen to me” he begs as he takes a step toward you.
You didn’t stop walking backwards as my head was making the “no” side over and over again until your calves touched the couch.
This couldn’t be real right? This couldn’t be happening right now.
“I know I fucked up and you have every reason to hate me…but please just listen to what I have to say” he says again with a pleading look in his eyes.
He hesitated. You couldn’t risk D/N safety around someone like him, but curiosity got the better of you. Telling the core 4 about his return would be a mistake too, because they’ll kill him and you’ll never know what he wanted
So you made the safest option and you let him enter your appartement. It was like letting the wolf enter the lamb’s home.
Your index pointed the couch and he sat down as you demanded him to. Meanwhile, you went to your daughter’s bedroom to put her in her sleeping self in the crib.
If his intentions were still wicked, at least she wouldn’t be in the same room and you prayed he wouldn’t hurt her after killing you.
“You have ten minutes” you acknowledged him and sat at the opposite side of the couch.
“Thank you”
Ethan found the need to say that before beginning anything. You made a small nod and he began talking.
“First of all, I want you to know that I never wanted to do all that-" but you interrupted him.
“But you still did it Ethan! You lied and-" this time he interrupted you
“Please let me speak” he said as he sighed. “I did all this so my dad could actually find me interesting. Ever since I was a child it was always Richie, the perfect son. The one who got all of my dad’s attention after my mother died. If it wasn’t him that was being praised, it was Quinn. She’s the first daughter and the oldest twin. Quinn has always been a daddy’s-little-girl and she became the favourite child after our brother’s death.”
He explain. Ethan took a deep breath before continuing.
“But what about Ethan Bailey? I was only the youngest, the baby of the family that nobody acknowledged. After Richie died, Wayne started treat me like Richie and I enjoyed the sudden attention…until he asked me to be a Ghostface. I hesitated a long time, but accepted because I thought that if maybe I did like Richie he would love me more”
You were speechless as he spilled all this at you.
“But you came along and we began our benefits relationship- and oh you don’t know how much I hated myself at this time-" but you interrupted him again
“This doesn’t explain how you survived and found me”
He almost chuckled at your eager of answers, but this wasn’t something to laugh at.
“The tv only hit my head, but it didn’t damage anything, it only made me black out for a few” he explained “Fortunately, I woke up the same moment cops showed up and I successfully slipped through their fingers”
He hesitated before continued his story. “Now you’re gonna find me weird” he sigh
“I already find you weird, just say what you were about to” you say
“I found where you lived because I looked for you and the core 4” he spited out
“You stalked us” You say more as a statement than a question.
“No I looked for you, I didn’t stalk you…and if I didn’t I would’ve never found out that we have a daughter”
Ethan chose not to say that he followed you almost everyday to know that got where you needed to be safely.
A silent went in between both of you. You couldn’t believe what you were doing. Ghostface was right in front of you and you were having a cordial conversation with him. What would the others think?
“Can I ask you a question?” you breath out.
Ever since he got here, the question has been burning your tongue. He nodded and you asked it in a small voice “Did you agree to level up our friendship only to take advantage of me?”
He frowned at your sentence. He never imagined once that you would feel like that
“Y/N of course not. I’m not some kind of monster…”
“But I still don’t know if I can trust you Ethan…after everything”
Ethan pursed his lips together and looked at the ground. “Please, I will do whatever it takes”
“I don’t know…” you whispered and stood up as you sigh and he stand up too.
He made small steps toward you and when you didn’t pushed him away, he took your much smaller hands in his with a pleading look. “Please Y/N, you’re the only one I knew wouldn’t kill me if I shewed up”
“How do you know I won’t kill you” you say, attempting to scare him but it didn’t work one bit. You knew damn well you weren’t going to kill him.
“Please, I promise to never do anything stupid again” he pleads as he looked into your eyes.
His gaze was full of sorrow and regret while yours were uncertain. Ethan noticed how tense you were and did the first thing that came to his mind.
His knees soon touched the ground and he began the beg even more. “Please Y/N, I cannot live knowing you hate me. I accept the core 4, but please not you. You’re my best friend and I love you so much”
His voice was cracking as he spoke and his hands that were still holding you began to shake. “I even started therapy and I could get a psychologist too if that would make you happy and feel safe around me”
Tears blurs your sights as you listened to his promises. Maybe you should give him a chance after all…
“I’m so sorry for everything” his sentence full of his teary voice as he cried. “I won’t ever do something bad again. I’ll make you happy everyday Y/N and if you allowed me too I would make our daughter happy”
Your appartement was filled with his pleading and his cry and after all, the wolf was revealed to be as soft as a lamb.
———-
I hope you liked what I wrote for your request and happy birthday @scqr6m ! This was really long to write and I tried posting it yesterday for your birthday but because of school I couldn’t 😭And also you can choose the daughter’s name since I did this for your birthday.
This is unfortunately a one time thing, because I don’t want people to lie about their birthdays so I write them something. I did this for her because it was my first serious request so yeah
I hope you guys liked it and English isn’t my first language but I tried my best to make it make sense.

I got done watching playthroughs of Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 from EmotionalMarcus and Superhorrorbro. Highly suggest the latter if you want to check it out as he found all the hidden tapes. Man was this chapter insane so here's my take on it with obvious massive spoilers.
Edit: For those who need a refresher, Ch 1 +2 VHS tapes, Chapter 3 Analog Trailers, Project Playtime VHS, Interactive ARG, and In-game Documents.
First off, Deep Sleep definitely answered a lot of questions but also left more too. The important ones revolving around the Prototype and the toys themselves. Here's a summarized version.
CatNap ran a cult worshipping the Prototype as his god. Toys were forced to follow him to survive in Playcare including the other Bigger Bodies Smiling Critters. However the food issue led to not only infighting but also cannibalism.
Picky Piggy ate Bubba Bubbaphant, KickinChickin and Craftycorn. Dog Day was labeled a heretic thus was slowly eaten by the smaller Critters until only his upper torso left. The horrific thing is he been left alive to suffer. At least until the smaller Critters' puppeted his body to chase after the Player.
Poppy and Kissy Missy wants to kill the Prototype. There's a possibility Kissy cared about a child in Playcare before she became a toy. Part of this being the theory that the Bigger Body was once a worker.
There were toys who served as teachers in the schoolhouse. Due to the Hour of Joy, one toy called Ms Delight gone insane and killed all her fellow teachers to survive. CatNap avoids her haunt for an unknown reason. Maybe because she's an ally or someone he once cared about.
CatNap had been a tool to the Prototype as he's killed for his failure. This might've not been a case once upon a time due to a theory about him used to being Elliot Ludwig. Apparently the Prototype acts as a hivemind with him assimilating and copying others.
Tom Sawyer/The Doctor gotten killed sometime before the Hour of Joy. It might've been the Prototype due to an interview tape between the two prior to Leith Pierre interview with CatNap. The abuse done to the toys might've spurred on the takeover.
Hour of Joy was a massive slaughter where every human been killed no matter who they were. CatNap might be responding for the kids death with Ollie being a possible toy survivor. Kissy Missy was taken over and been a participant as well. She might've gotten captured or killed at the end of the chapter.
Now onto my personal theories starting with the Prototype.
He is a hivemind based organism most likely made from Elliot Ludwig. The Prototype could've gone insane as he kept assimilating others. Possible breaking point that led to the Hour of Joy being the Doctor since he been studying him too than it being one sided.
The slaughter had an massive ulterior goal. Prototype doesn't require food and the shrine CatNap made of him has multiple human bodies in it. Ollie also confirmed that the shrine is nothing compared to the real deal.
The Prototype might've assimilated most of the victims before moving onto the other toys. Further proof is CatNap's state once you fully see him. He's so thin that you can his bones and ribcage. The employees were their only food provider which led to this post apocalyptic style cannibalism.
If the Prototype was benevolent then a lot of strings could be pulled where the corrupt humans perish and they puppet Playtime Co in the shadows. No more experiments as the company would function under them. Clueless employees delivering a constant food supply and the kids could actually see the real world. Maybe the toys follow them out as no one is aware.
Poppy even mentioned the Player running the company so she knew there was a better way to handle things. The Prototype locked her up to prevent this foil in his plans. Hour of Joy was a purposely planned slaughter.
Second theory involves Huggy Wuggy and the Player. Throughout the chapter, our first Bigger Body had been a major constant element. He is the first and last one we see through CatNap's nightmares. There's a hidden important connection which involves the Prototype too.
I think the hivemind spared him as it's clear they were more of a victim than foe. CatNap would've spare him if he left this all behind. Huggy Wuggy might've attacked the Player near the entrance during the Hour of Joy before leaving.
Final theory revolves around the toys. Dog Day and CatNap are further evidence that the Bigger Bodies can have diverse bodies. Mommy Longlegs died when she cut in half but the canine Smiling Critter didn't. Boxy Boxy devours people whole hinting at very strong stomach acid despite his small body while CatNap has an expanded ribcage and can breathe gas.
There is one common similarity amongst all the toys except for Poppy. All of them can be affected by the Prototype. My theory involves their brain containing an actual fragment from him. The Doctor constantly dissected the Prototype and might've added portions to the other toys as a key material in their creation.
It also explains why Mommy alongside Kissy aren't on his side. The Prototype's influence acts sorta like a suggestion meaning they can resist him. Mommy Longlegs was left alone as the more hostile Bigger Bodies look over their own territories. Huggy Wuggy is an exception since he acts more like a puppet until the Prototype activates him.
Things are heating up as Chapter Four might be the last one for Poppy Playtime since CatNap was the Prototype's final key player. I won't say there could be complications on the way as more experiments were mentioned in Chapter 3 specifically Experiment 'Void'.
For now, this is all we got.

Parent headcanons - Sara, Ei and Lisa
Characters: Kujou Sara // Raiden Ei // Lisa Minci
Genre: Fluff
Note: I felt like writing some fluff, as I tend to neglect it a lot. So I made a randomizer with characters from the game, and spun it. I tagged it as 'male reader', but can be easily read as GN reader.
Here's my attempt at some fluffy headcanons :p
Tumblr media
//Kujou Sara\\
First of all, congratulations for convincing her to have children in the first place.
Sara never got to experience any warm, parental love, and as such has trouble offering it. She has the instincts, sure, but her affections come out as awkward most of the time.
Looks to you for support when your child has any emotional issues.
Sara, being raised in a very conservative and tradition-focused society, has a solid view on how a family should look like. She most likely would like to have a son and a daughter.
May try to push her son towards a military career, and her daughter to the shrine, as tradition says. If they don't want such a future, she will try to get you involved. Please, explain to her that there are other ways in life than what society says! She will step down a fair bit if you support your children.
Will most likely try to pursue the traditional role of a mother while on parental leave, but will soon understand it's just not for her. She is a busy woman, used to constant action and the military routine. Sara hopes you are alright with providing the quality time and the emotional support she can't.
Doesn't mean she won't try to show her love, obviously.
Her motherly love shows mostly through acts of service.
If there is anything she can help with, she will do it. Even if her duties call, Sara will make sure to put them on second priority, or just hand them over to her subordinates.
That is aside from academic help. Sara recieved an education, but is not very eager to sit through it again. So help the bird-lady, alright?
Gifts are the second language of love, as her sizable paycheck allows it. Expansive clothing, rare foods, books and high quality toys, as well as others. They are not always on-point, but her children will surely appreciate the gesture.
Is the strict, somewhat scary mom. You'll most likely take on the role of the lenient, fun parent to balance it.
Bullies? What bullies? If anyone will be stupid enough to raise their hand on her son or daughter, their parents will go through absolute hell until they come on their knees to her, begging for forgiveness.
If her children will inherit her Tengu blood, she will help them tend to their wings and teach them how to fly.
She is loyal to the Shogun, but after enough time will rethink her priorities.
Now that she has a family, a real one, to return to, she will rethink the whole 'leading the charge' thing as well. Commanding from the back seat is not for her, so she will take to staying on the sidelines instead.
That said, her zeal will increase. She is now not only fighting for the safety of her ideals and the Shogun, but also her own family.
Overall, a 6/10 mother. She is not very good at this, but she tries her best.
Tumblr media
// Raiden Ei \\
Ei would only have a child with someone similar to her - a god. She has lost so many people in the past, and she just couldn't afford to see her partner wither away, and outlive her children (I assume demigods live shorter).
If Ei were to meet her love before the Archon war, she would be a completely different person nowadays. With someone to help her cope, the isolation and Vision Hunt Decree would just not have happened. But, for this scenario, let's assume you met her after the Inazuma story quests.
She will take her time starting a family. Raiden Ei has a lot of issues to work through, but the healing process will be faster if you will be there by her side.
Ever since her childhood, between all the fighting and bloodshed, she entertained the thought of having children at first, but the image of her own family grew more and more distant the more she fought. Soon, it was completely forgotten. It was you who reawakened the desire in her.
Ei was split between wanting to have one child to devote her love and affection to, and having multiple. She came to the conclusion that one son or daughter would be lonely by themselves, so two children will be her dream.
Her role may make her out as very busy, but personally I think that's not the case at all. With the Tri-commission to do all the work, Ei only needs to approve existing ideas and solutions, and propose new ones every now and then. That leaves her with lots of free time.
Wanting to devote full attention to her little ones, she will ask you to take over most of her duties. She will still take part in the most important discussions, but will avoid exhausting herself. You, being the loving and understanding partner, will gladly help her.
To say your heirs would be spoiled would be like saying nothing. Being the children of the leaders of a powerful nation certainly has lots of perks.
Ei will not hesitate to indulge her children in luxuries and expansive entertainments, like food or toys. You may want to keep an eye on her though - she will forget that her children have actual bodies to keep clean of cavities.
Gift giving, physical affection, quality time - Ei will try to give everything she has in store.
She will often get confused at modern things, looking up to you for guidance. She will learn eventually, but it's all still quite new to her.
Auntie Miko will make frequent visits, if only to tease her friend and play with the youth. A friendship will form between them, and Miko will get into all sorts of predicaments with them when they grow up.
The Plane of Euthymia will become brighter and more lively when she takes her children there.
When it comes to roles, Ei will be the helpful and loving type, who can annihilate her enemies one second and wash her child's hair the next.
The roles of fun and serious will be split between you two.
When it comes to jobs for her heirs, Ei will do her best to not let them experience the same things she did - which means keeping them as far away as possible from the military and politics.
If anyone dares to pick on her joys, they will be gone in a flash, leaving only a black stain on the ground to remember them by.
In summary, 8/10. Tries hard, and gets the results. Gives her little ones all the attention and love she can muster.
Tumblr media
// Lisa Minci \\
It was a hard decision for her to make.
Since becoming aware of her incoming mortality, she wanted nothing more than to live her life to the fullest. That includes trying out new things, drinking tea, dating and having a family.
But, on the other hand, when she will die, she will leave you alone with your kid.
Lisa ultimately decided to take the risk, but agreed to have only one child with you in mind.
Has no preference over their sex.
Her comfy job at the library puts no stress on neither her mind nor her body, so the pregnancy will go without issue. Her maternity leave will be relatively short, and she will often visit the headquarters to escape from her little ones and get some actual sleep do her duties, of course.
Lisa is going to cherish every moment she is granted with you and her children.
Quality time is her absolute favorite, mixed with constant words of affirmation.
Lots of walks, lots of picnics, game nights, cooking together or any other imaginable activity (appropriate for the kids' age that is) are frequent.
Insistent on eating every meal together.
Will hog most of the time and attention of her kids.
Will spoil them to the limit, leaving you to take the hit and be the serious one.
Lisa would still be very helpful, especially in academic troubles.
The mage would take a lot of pictures, and hang them on every accessible surface. Every memory worthy of immortalizing must be made such. Not for her, but for you and the kid to remember.
She has no delusions that she will live long enough to see her joys go to work - she would like to, no doubt, but it's a foolish hope. That said, her heir's role in the world is up to them to choose.
Will insist on sleeping together, sandwiching the kid in between you. It's the best position to be in, being able to hold the people that made her the happiest woman in Teyvat as she drifts off to sleep. That is where she would like to pass away.
Will offer words of wisdom and book recommendations when the kid grows up enough to understand her.
As painful as that will be, she will try her best to hide any symptoms of dying. Lisa just... doesn't want to see you or them distressed over her state.
Will make life difficult for any bullies that might surface, maybe going as far as to dish out the punishment with her Electro vision herself.
A stellar mother. 10/10. Cherish her while she lasts.

A Glimpse of the Past
Chapter One
Master List
Tumblr media
Tags: 1.3k words, eventual Rauru x Reader x Sonia, sheikah!reader
You’d been there less than a week, only came to the castle a mere day ago. Having to travel on foot took longer than the travel function you’d grown a bit used to through Purah’s testing, trying to recreate the Sheikah Slate’s functions with her own flair.
You missed her. You missed her a lot. You dragged your fingers along the goggles she’d made for you. You counted the grooves and ridges. You grounded yourself with the reminder, reminder that she was real.
Why was it so hard to remember? You’d been here for less than a week. Less than a week and you were already questioning if your life had been a dream or if this time was. You knew that the years you’d spent on the Hyrule you knew were real. You knew it but even then, when you were there, some days you still woke and questioned if everything that happened had happened.
You sighed and carefully placed the goggles against the bun of your hair. It was a dead give away that you didn’t belong here but you couldn’t say you passed well anyhow.
You weren’t Zelda with her blank canvas skin and her common features.
You stuck out, even in modern day. Your hair was stark white. Among these people the only ones with white hair were Rauru and Mineru, two people from the sky. Your eyes were red. Not a single person you’d come across this far had similarly colored eyes. On your forehead you had a red eye tattooed. That was probably even less common than the other two.
You were used to being gawked at though. It didn’t bother you like it used to.
Your first order of business was to find Zelda. It was easy, really. She was where you expected her to be so early in the day, outside in a small picnic like set up not far from your rooms.
She was already talking animatedly with Sonia. You could hear her voice carry as soon as you stepped within eyesight of the area though not with a yell and merely passion even if you couldn’t understand her words until you got closer. Sonia sat in front of her with a teacup cupped in her hands, hanging onto every word as Rauru did the same.
“Ah, actually, I do believe you’d be more qualified to speak on this topic,” Zelda said as you sat beside her.
“What topic?”
“The Sheikah Shrines, you did go back to look at them before they stopped functioning, correct?” she asked.
You rolled a berry between your fingers. “Yes, but what part do you want to be elaborated on?”
“Well, there were so many things, I wouldn’t know where to start. You got the first had accounts while they were operative, after all. I just got a look for the exterior, you saw the inside.”
You chewed the berry for a moment longer than necessary as you thought of a way to explain.
“Before the Purah Pad, there was the Sheikah Slate. It was created by my people long before we were even thought of. It— like the Purah Pad— had a map and travel function but it’s main operation for these functions were the shrines,” you began before you launched into a far too lengthy explanation.
Regardless, you weren’t stopped. In fact, the duo asked several questions despite it being clear that they were following, they didn’t exactly understand. They were trying too, though. It was sweet. It was also something you’d never experienced before.
The thing is, you didn’t have many friends, even before the Calamity came and killed so many.
You had some fleeting friends as a child but it wasn’t until you started to learn fighting techniques that you found a friend in Impa. She was the first person to truly understand you on any level. Of course, with Impa, Purah soon followed. The two of you because quick fast friends and the same was said with Robbie.
You started out as a guard for the research facilities. You picked up on many things from Purah and Robbie. You also met Zelda while you were doing that job. With Zelda constantly sneaking in you two developed some sort of comradery. You’d give some remark of what a nice day it was as she tried to sneak in and she’d halt before sighing and walking head up and back straight into the lab.
You only became closer to Link after he woke.
Things had happened, many things had happened, in those hundred years between including more than a handful of half successful experiments that you happened to be in the room for thus experienced the backlash for. He also lost his memory, then regained it.
He came to the lab on more than one occasion with half memories and more questions than you’d had time for at that moment. Then the Calamity ended and things seemed to go back to something reminiscent of what it was before but a bit different, a little changed.
You got to see Robbie again. You didn’t just hover and ask questions, you took an active role in the experimentation and creation of things.
Still, in the more than a century you’d had under your belt, you’d never had this. You’d never had someone actively seek to understand something you liked much less were passionate about without some reasoning behind it and yet they did. It was nice, really nice.
“And those goggles,” Sonia said, “they seem to be made of the same material as the Purah Pad, correct? What is it they do?”
Your hand drifted upward to touch them. You hesitated for a moment before you removed them.
“I could tell you,” you said as you stood and walked over to her, “or I could show you?”
You stretched the goggles out towards her with a questioning look. She smiled and turned towards you with a small nod. You placed the goggles over her eyes and adjusted the straps so it didn’t tug on her hair.
She must have had her eyes closed because she very suddenly reached for Rauru’s arm to orient herself.
“This is certainly new,” she said, the blue glow moving with her eyes.
She looked at you for a moment, then Zelda. When her attention went to Rauru she sighed. “You have— oh, let me just get it,” she said before she reached towards his face and pulled the smallest bit of grass off him.
He touched the spot she had softly and a small, mostly closed lipped smile (though despite his efforts you could see the barest hint of teeth poking through) graces his face. He looked over at you briefly with that fondness and you found yourself freezing.
“Well, it is a different way to perceive the world,” she said. “Though perhaps I’ve had enough for now.”
You shook yourself out of your stupor and took the goggles off Sonia’s face. Now she smiled at you.
“Thank you for the experience,” she said as she placed a hand on your forearm.
“It’s not a problem at all,” you said, not exactly waving her off but definitely putting your focus on fixing the straps of your goggles to fit your head before you placed it back where it had been.
“Perhaps it would be beneficial if you could share your knowledge with Mineru,” Rauru said. “It would help her better understand the functions of your Purah Pad and she is often looking for new ideas, combining your skills could result in these. Of course, that is if you wish to.”
“It isn’t a bad idea,” you said simply.

Chapter 106-2 thoughts
sorry this is LATE but this chapter did horrible things to my brain so let's all yell about it under the cut.
Daikoku continues to be the best character. And the Kofuku/Daikoku reunion I feel kinda got swept under the rug with everything else that happened but I'm glad they're back together. Even if the circumstances are less than ideal.
But before I move to talking about other reunions under less than ideal circumstances,,, I'm glad the shinki have rallied. It goes along well with the manga's message that shinki are responsible for shaping the morals of their god, and I would really hate to read a manga that ends with a massacre of the human race, besides.
On to the Father section, the meat of this chapter, I wonder why Kaya is nowhere to be found. Though her death was sudden, I suppose she didn't become a shinki nor an ayakashi, so Father's dimension can only create a facsimile. So was she satisfied with her life until that point? Or was she so afraid of Father she didn't want to become like him? The latter seems more likely to me.
The parallel between Father looking for Kaya to Yato wanting his shrine hurt me deeply. The difference, though, is that Father would stop at nothing to achieve his goals, whereas Yato had people to stop him and steer him. Like I speculated last month, too, I am not convinced that Father even believes in his own mission. It's more like he got drunk on power and enjoyed causing collateral damage, to me.
In any case, Yato was happy to settle and keep improving himself once he got his shrine, giving up his dreams of being the most-worshipped god since that wasn't really what he was after. Meanwhile, no amount of reparations could fix the damage Father has done, and unlike Yato, he wouldn't stop his behaviors even if Kaya was miraculously here. More likely, he'd try to force Yato and Hiiro back into their roles as his submissive children, and kill everyone who doesn't belong in his facade of a family portrait.
But Kaya is not here, Father has discovered that his will is not all-powerful, and now he's right back to where he started. Ruling over nothing.
The reminder of how Yato sees Izanami in the year 2023 was honestly so rude. And even more rude was that apparently Father knew Hiyori was here, and made an educated guess that Yato saw Izanami as her.
HERE'S HOW THE HIYORI SAKURA CONVERSATION CAN STILL WIN--
Okay so now we're at the Yatori reunion. I think "long-awaited" hardly covers this. It's been more than 5 years for us, and over a month in-universe, and even worse, Yato basically told Hiyori the next time he saw her he would have reincarnated. And now she sees him standing before her as a child. So. That's going well.
A couple things concern me about this. First of all, Hiyori's in poor condition, so something tells me she's going to believe he died and not find out the truth for quite some time. Which would break me beyond repair, so I hope that doesn't happen and I will not elaborate on what's in my head. Second, the reason she's like that at all is because of trash dad's interference. Yato still doesn't know about him setting wolves on her. He's going to quickly put two and two together, and on top of that, Yukine is also dissolving.
So, will Yato kill Father with his own two hands at long last? Will he revert to being an adult once he does? Will Hiyori realize the truth before they part ways forever? CAN WE HAVE A GOD DAMN BITTERSWEET ENDING? I'M GOING TO BE INCONSOLABLE IF WE DON'T.
I think. we will be fine. It's quite late in the game to kill any of the main characters now, but I never look forward to seeing how Adachitoka inevitably plans to hurt me. So with that in mind, I'll see you all next month for another round of screaming.

Arkhelios Adventures
Tumblr media
The academy was on fire. That's what it looked like anyway. Pulsing, all consuming pinks and purples flashed before Theo's eyes.
This is was the Void looked like, wasn't it? He was so tired, it hurt his brain to remember. This was his school in Pleasantview, nowhere near the demonic Void.
Tumblr media
"Adam!" Theo cried out for his boyfriend, recognizing the familiar shape in a blaze of neon light. "Adam, it's me! What are you doing here? What's happening?"
Tumblr media
"Adam!"
Theo bolted awake, surprised to feel the bed he was in and not the ground. The last thing he remembered, he was in Crystal Cove, staring at his father's horrified face. How had he gotten home to his own familiar bed in Arkhelios? Where was Adam?
What a nightmare he'd had. Theo had to assume it was a nightmare anyway. He would remember if the demonic Void opened under his school- at least he was pretty sure that he would. But he had been in Crystal Cove, not Pleasantview. He couldn't piece together the sequence of events in his mind. What on earth had happened?
Tumblr media
"Dad! Theo's not dead!"
Theo turned and saw his little sister watching him from the comfort of his computer chair.
"Rien? What's going on? How did I get here?"
Adrienne shrugged, spinning around on the computer chair out of boredom.
"Dad brought you home," she answered. "I told him that the spirits weren't calling for you, but he didn't listen. I've been here waiting for you to wake up so he doesn't have a nervous breakdown. He gave Luci $20 for lunch at school even though it's the weekend. She went to her track meet while I've been making sure the spirits stay out of your room. And using your computer. Your digital shrine to Adam is lame by the way. Though it's cute that you want to name your first kid after Dad."
Adrienne nearly doubled over laughing at the horrified look on her brother's face. If Theo's head wasn't still pounding, he would have put up more of a fight against his snooping sister.
"As the Bellamy heir, it makes sense that we name our first son after Dad," he protested weakly. "Roman makes a good middle name too. At least I have a boyfriend, you wouldn't understand. You're just a kid."
Adrienne raised a skeptical eyebrow.
"I had one last month until he got boring. I'm not planning on marrying the first guy I dated and having his stupidly named kids," she laughed. "Speaking of stupidly named kids, Dad's feeding Abe in the kitchen. I'm supposed to send you there if you woke up. Aunt Lucy's here to yell at you."
"What does she want? What happened? Is Adam here too?"
Adrienne shrugged
"No, Baby Roman Darktide's future dad got sent home. Something about a magical marvel he pulled off that made them reschedule the wedding planning dinner. I think his dad thinks we're going to sue him or something since you collapsed on his watch. Well, that and Aunt Lucy may have threatened him a little."
"He's okay then? The spell worked?"
Theo couldn't read the look his little sister gave him then. It was sad and worried and frustrated.
"You're an idiot," she sighed. "Yes it worked, but there are consequences. The spirits have been whispering about it non stop. Despite what you think, they think of you sometimes too. You should really try to listen for them. They might prevent you from making rash, idiot decisions."
Theo frowned. His little sister had inherited their great-grandmother's spiritual gifts, but despite her claims, Theo had never heard voices call to him. Ever. He would probably remember something as chilling as that.
What was he not remembering? Before the darkness overcame him, he had learned something, something important. He could only hear Adam's voice run through his head. If only he could talk to Adam. Maybe he would remember what happened.
"What consequences? I feel fine," Theo lied. He ignored the headache and the small ringing in his ears. They weren't important.
"I don't know," Adrienne teased. She absolutely knew what had happened. "I'd try something basic at school before you try more advanced magic. You wouldn't want to accidentally misspell your name or anything."
"What?"
Tumblr media
"Alright, Abe's clean and changed, ready to try to eat some lunch again."
Tumblr media
"Aww, my brother's come so far," Lucy teased, giving her brother a playful smack on the arm.
"Ha ha," Abe Sr replied. "That never gets old, Luce. How original."
"It's not my fault that you named your bandaid baby after yourself," she laughed. "You could have always named him after me or whatever our bio-sibling goes by these days."
"Funny, but I think naming him Lucifer might make him get teased at school," Abe shot back.
"Hi."
Tumblr media
The adults swivelled in their seats to find Theo anxiously watching them.
"Theo! You're awake. Here eat these, you need your strength." Roman dumped a plate of pancakes in front of his son with an embarrassing kiss on his head. If any of his friends had seen, Theo would have been mortified. "There's more pancakes when you finish those."
Theo smiled weakly, quickly brushing the hair his father had messed up.
"Thanks."
Tumblr media
As Theo chewed, his aunt cleared her throat, grabbing his attention.
"So, Theo. Do you want to talk about what happened? About the spell you cast?"
Theo paused to collect his thoughts.
"Adam thought he had a brother," he said at last. "I met this guy who claimed to be his half-brother and we wanted to make sure. So I cast the equivalent of a paternity test. I just borrowed access to his bloodline to do it."
Lucy sighed in relief.
"Oh thank god. We were afraid you'd gone and done something stupid like demonic marriage or a deal like your idiot parents."
"Hey!"
"Your spellwork was masterful if that was what you were aiming for," Lucy praised. "You're doing so well in your studies and completely understanding the coursework. Your Aunt Alexis wants you to tackle much harder spells because of this. You're growing faster in your abilities than we ever thought. Good job."
Theo wasn't used to praise for his schoolwork, especially when his schoolwork ended with someone teleporting him while unconscious to recover in his bed at home. Any praise from his aunt was also suspicious, but he wasn't going to complain if she wanted to compliment him.
Tumblr media
"If it all went so perfectly, why did my son collapse? Why did that warlock boy need to hang on to their spell to keep him safe?"
Lucy frowned for a moment, thinking her next words carefully.
"Two reasons," she said finally. "One, because you got too close to your feelings. You care about this boy and his feelings for the subject of your spell. Blood magic is personal and if you don't put up boundaries, you overinvest yourself and burn out. Cast spells for friends or acquaintances, never for love; never to soothe your loved one. You fall too deep and it takes too much from you. Start with people you don't care strongly about and then when you've learned control, open your spells to loved ones. It takes practice that you will learn in time. If you give too much of yourself, you don't know how you will change because of it and you will change. You have already."
Tumblr media
"Changed how? Is he sick? Dying?"
Roman stared at his sister in law, trying to hide his fear. He was once the calm, cold heir to the Bellamy fortune and now he couldn't even leave his son unattended at a dinner party. When did the stress and worry ever end?
"He's fine, Roman. Does he look like he's dying?"
Roman looked at the teen currently shoving giant forks of pancake in his mouth. Theo did look fine, though he'd learned the hard way that looks can be deceiving when it came to demonic magic.
Tumblr media
"I don't understand the complexities of blood magic, but your aunt says it's like a legal merger. Borrowing access to someone's bloodline that you have feelings for leaves traces behind, complications that need to be negotiated. You're supposed to meet with your headmaster when you get back to school on Monday to talk about this. He may have some insight to guide you."
Tumblr media
"Reason number two that this ended dramatically is a lot simpler than you think. Theo was born cursed, that's not up for debate. However, that magic is bound to him, no matter if the curse was ended or not. It formed with him at conception; it's a part of him now.
Tumblr media
"My mother is gone, and my grandmother is dead," Roman protested. "That whole mess is done. Theo is going to be fine. That's in the past."
Lucy frowned.
"That curse, like it or not is a part of him. A part of him that's been severed, but a part nonetheless. It's like a severed limb. It still has everything that makes Theo who he is in it. Even without the curse attached to him, his blood still calls out for it whenever his focus is too heavily on himself. It's something that he' going to have to compensate for in the future."
Tumblr media
"A dead curse is just hanging around me? Like a magnet?" Theo asked. "Always?"
"Always," Lucy affirmed, uncharacteristically kind. Her brother in law looked like he could faint at any moment. "But it's never going to be active again. Think of it like a crack on your windshield. You know it's there, it obstructs your view when you try to drive like you normally would and you have to navigate your vision around it to drive properly. "
"Were you the one who cracked Mom's windshield?" Abe teased. "I told her it was you but she never believes me."
"You understand, right?" Lucy said, ignoring her brother. "You're not going to have a panic attack about this like the brave demon hyperventilating beside the stove?"
Tumblr media
Theo nodded.
"I think so. Don't cast spells for Adam until I have more control and I need to figure out how to push away anything that might be summoned when I draw power to myself."
"Great! I think that was all I needed to discuss," Lucy concluded. "I have some documents waiting for me in my office now that you're feeling better. Demonic law stops for no one, not even the Sovereign's spouse and this case is important. Try to stay out of trouble, Theo. Your poor father is going to go grey by thirty five at this rate."
Theo froze. Around him, he could hear chairs scraping and his parents' voices. Abe threw his bottle on the ground, spilling formula everywhere.
Tumblr media
Too slept next to Renarde, unaware of her master. Theo could feel his mind call to her reflexively, looking for magical assistance from his familiar.
"Your dad is going to go grey" why does that bother me? There was something that I've forgotten. Something important.
"Oh, Theo! I forgot to ask to about Adam," Lucy called, jarring the teen from his thoughts. "Does Adam have a brother? Did the spell at least work for all the trouble it caused?"
The spell....
Theo's mind raced, remembering how the air around Ewan and Adam crackled with power. How their blood called out to him, screaming that they were connected inescapably by their father.
"Yeah, he has a brother," Theo replied, his mind still racing to sort out his thoughts. "They-"
"You'll make your father go grey." Your father. Adam has a brother. Dad will go grey...Grey like his daughter.
In the hall, Lucy was rambling about child support and how Adam's father might want to get a lawyer to protect him from this mysterious new son of his, but Theo wasn't paying attention. Instead, his mind raced trying to remember the specifics of what he saw at the castle before he passed out.
I saw it. Victoriana, she and I had the same connection Adam and Ewan did. She's my sister. My sister is the future queen of Pleasantview. Why hasn't anyone told me this? Who else knows about this?
Georgiana was easy to figure out because of math and because of her appearance. Was Victoriana just as obviously his sister and Theo was simply too young to remember? His father never seemed to worry about the Pleasantview princess the same way he stressed out reading about Georgiana taking her first steps in the gossip magazines. He never disappeared on Victoriana's birthday to go sit out in the yard drinking heavily like he did for Georgiana's.
I don't think he knows.
It was the only conclusion Theo could come to. If his father knew, he'd be pacing the floors, worried that Victoriana might be traumatized by watching her half-brother collapse. But if he didn't know, then who did? Did the queen know for certain or did she just have a list of potential fathers to work from?
When had this happened? Theo tried to remember the princess' birthday. She was what, a year younger than him? A year and a half? Close enough to Luci and Rien's age that he would guess that his parents had been broken up at the time. His father might not have even been married to Adrian at the time. Should he look up tabloids from a decade ago to check?
Did he want to tell his parents about this information if they didn't already know? What would the consequences be if he did? Would it make his dad as upset as he was about Georgiana? The queen of Pleasantview would probably keep him from the princess' life, just like Aunt Ulyssa had. Would he be disrupting his half-sister's life if he did tell someone? If he were in her shoes, what would he want?
He couldn't decide what the right thing to do was. He'd ask Adam whenever his own family was done having their own family discussions. If it had to wait to Monday at school, Theo supposed he could wait. There was no way he wanted a text that anyone could read out in the open. A topic this serious needed to be a face to face conversation in absolute secrecy.
He stood, numbly ignoring his parents and aunt who were still going on and on about legal obligations to children. He needed time to process all of this. He needed time alone to learn how to shoulder this burden.
Tumblr media
"Which princess are you thinking about? The one we don't talk about or the future queen?"
Theo turned around to find Adrienne following closely behind him.
"Y-you knew?"
Adrienne shrugged, as if this weren't earth shattering news.
"It was in the cards," she explained. "I've known for a while. The queen shows up in my readings all the time with her daughter. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why when the kid has no known father and our father is as...fertile as he is. Aunt Maura knows, but no one else. I asked the spirits about it many times and each time it's just me, Aunt Maura and the queen who knows. I guess you're added to that list now too. Welcome to the club."
The frowned, unnerved by his sister's relaxed assessment of this news.
"Why haven't you told Dad? Should he know? I mean, I don't plan on telling him, but he should know, right? It feels wrong not to tell him." Theo paused. "Why aren't you mad about this? Should I feel mad? This is just more evidence that Dad slept around his entire life and still couldn't figure out how to use birth control and who knows how many other half-siblings we have or if they're upset at us for being raised by Dad and-"
Tumblr media
Theo was cut off from his ramblings by his sister's arms wrapping firmly around him in a comforting hug.
"You think too much," she declared. "Try listening to the spirits for once in your life. They say it's not time to act, but the time is coming soon. This will all come out when it's supposed to, don't worry."
"If you say so," Theo replied, hugging his little sister back. "I still don't hear them, no matter how hard I listen, but I'm glad that you can. You're really lucky."
"Trust me, it's really more of a curse to hear them," she stated. "I know things that I definitely don't want to know about. The spirits aren't ever shy about what they want to talk about. "
"Fair enough. You let me know when the spirits think that this needs to be addressed. I'll try not to worry until then."
"Deal."
Tumblr media
"Oh, and Theo? "
"Yes?"
"None of the adults wanted to tell you or are too dumb to figure it out, but your stupid plan with Adam changed your true name and left a residual connection to the Maricourt family in your blood that you'll probably have for the rest of your life. Oh, and watch out for red heads. Something big is coming for you, something you don't want to tick off."
"What?!"

Cinderella.
On to part 2 of my 50 followers event! This is partially inspired by this anon -
Tumblr media
Although it isn't the exact same premise as my Diluc one, I hope you still enjoy it! I'm not very good at writing Miko though, so it might be ooc.
Contains - Miko being flirty, she kinda doesn't care that you are the creator, she's still going to be a menace, me finally using the golden blood trope, you are chaotic and also a kitsune
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is time for the annual celebration of the Creator in Inazuma and Yae Miko will let nothing get in the way of the ceremony. So when a fox with golden blood causes havoc, she will not rest until she tracks it down. It doesn't matter how many foxes she must check until she finds the one.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Lady Guuji! The fox is back."
Yae Miko liked to think that she was not an unfair person or someone who got impatient easily.
After all, she waited 500 years for Ei to return from the Plane of Euthymia.
However this fox was beginning to truly test her patience.
And Miko LIKED foxes!
But something about this one and the manner of which it was acting was truly beginning to annoy her.
Miko was more than willing to make sly jokes and cause problems for her fellow shrine maidens and the Traveller.
But she would NEVER go so far as to attempt to disrupt the preparations for the Creators ceremony.
She had standards, even a crafty fox like her would not stoop so low.
"Ignore it, Maki. I have plans for it."
No true fox would have the intelligence to break into the Narukami Shrine, Miko was certain of that, so it seemed she was dealing with one of her own.
Another Kitsune.
A strained yelp echoed from the courtyard, signalling that it was time for Yae Miko to confront her little troublemaker.
But as Miko stepped out, ready to deliver punishment to the thorn in her side, she was met with no fox, just a few shrine maidens.
She bent down to inspect the wards she had created, specifically designed to ensnare the kitsune, but found the wards ruined.
The kitsune had destroyed her wards.
Now THAT, that was trouble. A kitsune with the power to directly go against her magic...
It would have to be destroyed.
As Miko turned, hell bent on tracking down this creature, her eyes caught on the rack of decorative swords sitting nearby and the reason for the fox's yelp made sense.
Because covering one of the swords was a golden liquid, that Miko's nose instantly told her was blood.
It seemed that in its hurry to run away from the Guuji, the kitsune had brushed up against the sword.
Gold blood, how curious. It would be an interesting plot for a light novel.
But that did not matter right now.
What mattered was that Miko had a trail to follow.
Yae Miko had spent 5 hours combing the forests of Narukami Island and was still no closer to finding her culprit.
No matter how many kitsunes she came across, not one had gold blood and none could direct her towards one that did.
Miko's patience was fast running thin, she had things to be doing, but until this troublemaker was dealt with, she could not rest.
But eventually her persistence was rewarded.
"Gold blood?" The group of kitsune that Miko was interrogating shared a worried glance.
"Ah, so you do know the one I am searching for. Perfect. I trust that you will tell me their name, so I can properly deal with them."
"I-I don't think we can do that, Lady Guuji."
"Hmm? You can't? You would aide a criminal who has attempted to derail our most precious ceremo-"
"That's enough, Miko."
For quite possibly the first time in her life, Miko was speechless.
Because you, the most powerful and worshipped being in all of Teyvat, were casually leaning against a tree, as though your very presence was not a miracle.
Yae Miko heard the other kitsune scatter, but it did not matter to her.
"Your Holiness? Why, this is a most pleasant surpr-"
Her voice cut off as you shifted, your shirt riding up to reveal a golden scar across your stomach.
"Oh? You are the troublemaker that has vexed me so much over the last few days? I expected better of our dearest Creator. Did you hate the decoration for the event so much that you could do nothing but tear them up?"
You blushed slightly at Miko's words, prompting another wave of teasing.
"Was it simply that you wanted my attention, hmm? If that was it, all you had to do was ask, you didn't need to go to all this effort."
"..."
"You'll have to speak up, Your Holiness. I'm getting quite deaf in my old age."
"...imsorryforbotheringyouandruiningyourdecorationsijustwantedyourattention."
"Really? How sweet. You really are more trouble than you're worth though. Think of all the extra work I have to do now! If our Creator themself is attending the ceremony, there are so many more preparations to do. Come on, seeing as you are the cause of this headache, the least you can do is keep me company."
And so the two kitsune returned to the Narukami Shrine, Yae sporting a cheerful grin the whole time, knowing that she had finally found her gold-blooded troublemaker.
Link to the other parts of this event here.
Enjoy and feel free to comment and send asks!

Leo, Ladon & Shin Headcanons
Just a couple headcanons about the boys, some pre and some post-GxK:
- Ladon and Shin initially have some difficulties adjusting to family life, to being around people who care. In Ladon’s case, he was tortured and experimented on, his own body hurts itself because Apex were dicks who couldn’t be bothered to fix that/actively didn’t want to, and he was made to ultimately be killed by their “magnum opus”. And for Shin, he’s a failed experiment whose initial waking moments were actual agony until his parents siphoned off his excess radiation. Neither of them have any idea how to take having parents, a proper home, and a bunch of reliable older Titans + kids their age to fall back on. In both cases, their base reaction is hostility and closing themselves off, which the other Titans let them do until they’re ready to open up a little.
- Ladon being so angry at the world (and at himself - likely having internalized back in Apex’s facilities that whoever ‘Godzilla’ is, him “not being him” is something bad given how he was treated for not being a perfect Godzilla clone) makes it pretty difficult for anyone to approach him. He especially gets snippy with Shin when they first meet - despite Shin being physically older, Ladon’s body looks more advanced/stable and he’s mentally more mature than Shin who is still getting used to everything not being endless pain. So a lot of harsh comments probably got thrown around initially, especially in the event Ladon found out that Shin was meant to be his predecessor had his development been successful. Things start to get better later on, especially with Leo around, but it takes a while.
- Running with shadowblade’s idea that Leo’s egg could have been laid thousands of years ago, I imagine that Mothra kept the idea that she was pregnant with him a secret from Goji and planned to surprise her mate, but in-between multiple competing Titans, trying to get the already loyal Titans to play nice, mourning those who fell to various threats over the centuries, and simply trying to fix the damage done by Ghidorah, she never had time. Even more unfortunate if Leo’s egg just never showed any signs of hatching, so she had it placed in a shrine or cavern somewhere to wait for that time. By the time Leo DOES hatch well into the modern day, Mothra was already starting to lose hope he ever would.
- Armed with the knowledge that Leo is technically the oldest prince by some thousands of years, Goji and Mothra have made a solemn vow to never tell him. He’d lord it over his brothers forever and they’d never hear the end of it - he already did it when he found out he’s their biological son. There is no telling how he’d behave with the awareness that he’s the firstborn prince.
- Ladon frequently organizes sparring sessions with the other younger Titans, both to work off energy and simply to keep their skills sharp. He even ropes in Suko into it after the events of GxK once he finds out about the little runt. Some like Leo, Shin, or Manda don’t want to go and he usually has to drag them into it - which is ironic in the former’s case, since Leo is probably their strongest fighter.
- Unlike his brothers, insults tend to bounce right off of Leo. It’s not that he’s unaware of them - he simply does not care. Besides, a good way to prevent more insults from being thrown at you is simply to break the insulter’s face as dad always tells him.
- Despite acting like he couldn’t care less, Shin probably has the largest ego of the brothers next to Leo. If you let him get going, he can puff himself up to the point you’d think you were talking with Rodan instead of Godzilla’s quiet, timid son. And he soaks up praise and compliments like a sponge. Dagon and Shimo both note an uncanny resemblance to a younger Ozy in him.
- Leo collects random junk when he’s bored, the weirder the better. Manda could give you a list of all the weird shit Leo has left with him over the years. The most dangerous stuff he scraps. He does it enough that much later on, even Suko joins in alongside Keeta.
- Before he matured, Ladon and Shin often had to follow Leo around since the little larva would keep getting into fights with other more dangerous Titans and both of his brothers wanted to make sure he wouldn’t get carried off by like a Skullcrawler or Ion Dragon or something.
- Leo has made a habit of annoying the shit out of his brothers to get them to do stuff. He especially loves to do it when people are in danger and either Ladon or Shin (or both) are in one of their “humans suck and we shouldn’t help them” moods. It’s amazing how quickly they turn around and help if it gets their brother off their backs. Literally - Leo will stick himself on top of them and pester them until they go.
- Ladon and Shin like to explore the upper layers of the Hollow Earth together as a passtime. It’s one of their favorite bonding activities, especially when it means they can fight some of the hostile Titans or Sub-Titans. They’re specifically told to stay near the surface though, where the older Titans can reach them quickly. Given everything with Skar King, this probably ends up being something that comes into play later - maybe they encounter one of the Red Stripes wandering in the upper layers early on, before everyone else knows Skar King is around or possibly they find Skar King loyalists still skulking about HE well aware their king was defeated.
- Not a Princes headcanon, but Dagon probably had a bit of a breakdown when he got his memories back and realized just how much of an ass he was to his family: treating Goji like he wasn’t even there, pretty much disregarding his other kids, and essentially only focusing on Ozymandias to any real degree. And the awareness of what became of his youngest after Ozy got taken and his own death would likely make him feel even more guilty. Sure, he might understand that this is just how fathers of their kind typically acted but it would not make him feel any better.
It’s why Dagon might end up overcompensating for when he was alive and might try to interact with his family as much as possible now. Telling stories to his grandsons, interacting with his son, spending time with Shimo and asking her to tell him about her time with Ozy, etc. He can’t make up for what he was like back then, but he can try to make a difference now.
---
Ah, the lads both young and old each have their own baggage, but at least they no longer have to deal with their issues alone, though it’ll take more time for some than others before they trust others and themselves enough to open up.

Demon Bride Ch8 All In A Name
(WARNINGS AND DISCLAIMERS!!! EVERYONE in this story is in their early 20s-30s! This story will contain mentions of past abuse and death! I'll be keeping it as SFW. Some backstories have been slightly altered for this particular story, and some characters cannonically dead or harmed is alive and well. I own nothing.
Credit to @flanelltees for the designs I based the demons off to look more demon-like with tails and pointed ears.
This story will be sfw, but there will be some blood, implied death, fighting, some gore mentioned, and a few other things that will be made aware by warnings. Pay attention to warnings at the top of any chapters just under the summery please.)

Once in the mountain villages it was a custom that once a year on the night of the new year's first moon, an unlucky young lady would be selected and left for the demons to become one of the unlucky few who married such a husband. In exchange for this offering the demons would protect the villages and leave the humans in peace. Until one day a powerful warrior drove the demons away freeing the humans of them. Now 2,000 years later, it's become a tradition that once a year, a new young lady would be picked and wait for her future husband to retrieve her from a shrine in the mountains. And now the lucky tradition would fall upon Y/n L/n. It would be her own turn to take on the tradition and not have to worry about demons. After all that part of the old tradition was just fake, made up by paranoid ancestors. Everyone knew demons didn't exist.
...Right?
(WARNINGS!!!:  Light cussing, Implied death, wounds, some blood, and other injuries mentioned.  )

The earth was a beautiful thing if you needed it to be, or if you wanted to make it become that way. And in a way, it was both to you in the end. The sweet smells of flowers and grass filling your lungs. Combined with the warmth of the sunlight warming your smaller body as you walked along the pathway back towards your small home. Today was a perfect day to go fishing within the woods as it was warm, full of food, and a wide variety of other items that you could harvest. Wild berries to be picked. Old fruit trees long forgotten. A small pond with plenty of fish that only you knew. It was perfect for someone like you who was low on money, needed to repay a debt, and couldn't afford food all the time. You could just harvest and hunt whatever you needed even if you lost track of time and it was fairly dark now. It shouldn't take you too long to get back to your village, but even then it'll be dark before you got back anyways. Not that you were too worried about still being in the woods when night fell, after all there wasn't really anything dangerous like bears or tigers where you lived. They usually didn't go near human settlements. The most dangerous predator in these woods was the hawks and owls with the occasional fox here and there. You doubt a bird or tiny fox would even want to bother you, you were much bigger compared to them and it wouldn't be worth the fight for the food you carried when they could easily hunt their own. So no. You weren't worried at all. And it was beautiful outside tonight, a warm breeze in summer and the moonlight being your companions for the long trip back home.
But a campfire being lit up was new. And something that caught your attention, and you couldn't help but wonder over and accidentally startling the man who was using the fire as his companion for the night, and it took you getting closer to figure out one thing. He had been staring in your direction this entire time. It took you off guard once the realization hit you, and it caused you to pause staring back at the face.
"Uh...Oops. Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."
You couldn't make out his face entirely, the fire was too small to produce enough light and he sat cross legged mostly in darkness so you couldn't make out exactly what color the eyes that looked back at you were. But you could tell he was young, maybe late twenties or early thirties with some strange markings on his face, especially just over and under his eyes. They looked like straight lines. Maybe scars? Strange.
"No. You did...not scare me. Who...are you?"
"I'm from the village. I wasn't expecting anyone else to be out here hunting."
"I am...not hunting. Is that...what you were doing?"
"Well no. I was fishing. It's easier than setting traps and trying to chase down prey. But if you're not hunting, what are you doing all alone out here?"
"I am...traveling home...from meeting distant family."
He spoke strangely. Very slow and with pauses between his words. Strange. Maybe he was tired from traveling. It was turning night after all.
"Oh. Well I won't disturb you then....Have you eaten anything?"
"No."
"Then here." The man seemed surprised when you reached out to the line you were holding, snapping off one of the fish, and holding it out to the darkened figure. "It's not much, but traveling on an empty stomach isn't good for your strength. Take this and make some food out of it...Wait. You do know how to cook fish, right?"
The stranger remained silent for a long moment just looking at the fish dangling from your hand. "...Don't...need to." A hand reached out and grabbed it from the darkness. You noted how much larger they were compared to yours and the strange pointed nails but didn't comment as the hand pulled it back into the darkness and away from your sight. The man's head turning away downwards to you assume look at the food you had offered him. "...This...will suffice...for now." He then turned back to you. "What...will ...you do now?"
"Go home of course." Your head nodded down the pathway back towards your village and his head turned following your direction. "Wait. Did you just say you couldn't cook fish?"
"It is...unnecessary-"
"No it's not!" Your rise in volume made him turn back to you, not surprised or anything but his brow rose at your frown. "Don't you know eating raw meat isn't good for your body? Or are you trying to save it for later?"
"I...will reserve my hunger...for later travel-"
"By then the meat will be bad and unsuitable for consumption. That'll just make you even more sick regardless if it's cooked or not!" You wanted to facepalm this stranger. You didn't know him at all, but he wasn't the brightest it seemed, or being tired and hungry is clouding his judgement. You extended your hand. "Here. Give it to me. I'll cook it for you then."
"You will...cook for me?"
"Yes. Because I gave you the fish, if you refuse to eat it properly then it'll be on me if you get sick. There's a fire here and plenty of sticks from the trees, so I'll be able to cook it for you the same way I cook it for myself."
He didn't say anything, but after a couple seconds, a hand slowly held out the fish back out to you and you took it back, only to drop your small bag and other fish to the ground and wonder off towards the woods still carrying the fish in one hand. All the while his two eyes followed your every movement from your form walking into the darkness, to your hand picking up a stick and jabbing it into the fish, to you walking back and just placing the entire thing into the fire with a part of the long stick safely out of the way of flames. And then the silence resumed for what seemed like hours as he just watched your actions which included using the stick to flip the fish over onto the other side after a long while. After a long while more, you completely pulled the now fully brown fish from the fire and held it out to him with a smile.
"Here. It should be good to eat now, and don't try to save it for too long or else it'll go bad." There was another pause from the man who just stared at the food you offered before the same hand reached over and took it from you once again. Seeing it as your job being done here, you stood back up and turned away from him. "Where are you heading anyways?"
"I live...beyond the mountain."
Ah. So another traveler heading up there. There was a few in your limited years of living here and they all traveled past your village on their way over the mountains ...Although it was a bit strange this stranger was returning there after already coming through here to visit family. He must've taken a different route you supposed. Either way it was none of your business. Your business was to pay off what your parents dumbly left behind.
"Is your destination far? You might need some more food."
"I will...be fine."
That was a no then. You sighed and picked up your remaining fish and bag only to toss it at his feet with a thud. He looked at it, then up at your still smiling face. "It's full of wild fruits and vegetables. They might taste a little bitter, but they'll last you a couple days. I can just come back and get more for myself." He didn't say anything, not that you were expecting him to, but you too that as your cue to leave, so your body bowed at the waist. "May you have a safe journey home."
With that you turned and began walking back off towards the direction of your village, with less food for your hungry self, but you could always come back and get more. The strange man watched your form until it disappeared from his sight and slowly turning back to the fish in his hand....And taking a rather large bite with his inhuman fangs.
***************************************************************************************
It was still dark when you came to. And the first thing you felt was-
"Dam them! Dam them! That door will be hell to fix!"
You felt..Oddly warm. Warm but numb. As if you were weightless inside a warm ocean. Like when you were just waking up from a dream on a beautiful summer morning.
"Not to mention everything will stain and it'll take forever to fully clean it all!"
"Lord Kyogai. Has she awakened yet?"
"...No. But I suspect she will soon. Are you certain she's not dead?"
"Dead people do not breath, My Lord. But my knowledge on human anatomy is extremely limited, I won't be able to give you any answers to her condition other than 'she isn't dead.'"
An annoyed growl escaped somewhere in the darkness of the numb warm ocean of thoughts.
"Shall I tend to your wounds now?"
"No. I'll regenerate within a day or two anyways. Rejoin the others and clean all the mess thoroughly," a voice commanded, "Burn the remains to nothing but ashes. Fix what needs to be repaired. No one is go outside until this season passes over. Do I make myself clear on that!?"
"Of course, Sir."
"GOOD!! And make sure you tell everyone else to follow those orders! The last thing I need is more insects thinking they can trespass in here!"
"May I ask what you will be doing, My Lord?"
A tired sigh came from somewhere. "What else would I be doing this time of year? Writing down all the death and marriage certificates that comes with this blasted month! Tell Mayla to bring me anymore reports left unfinished immediately. I will not have this incident push back my deadlines!"
"Yes, Sir. Of course, Sir."
"Good. Now leave me be for now. I have much to get done."
"And the human, Lord Kyogai?"
"...Leave her here. I'll decide what's to be done when she wakes."
There was quick, light footsteps that stepped away from you and then a drag and thud sound quite similar to the sounds a sliding door would make. Leaving you alone with nothing but the male voice and yourself slowly regaining feeling and memories. THUD. THUD. THUD. THUD. Footsteps made their way also from where the door was until with a heavy thud they sat down just a foot or two away from your body.
And silence resumed.
And then you slowly started to regain feeling. The warmth became obvious when you hand gave the tiniest bit of movement and you felt cloth against your skin, and your entire body. Something was over you keeping you warm, except for your forehead. Something cool and soft was placed against your forehead creating a clash against warmth the rest of your body felt. And then it came. A deep. Terrible. Awful. Terrible throb of pain from your leg making you snap your eyes open immediately only to blink them into the harsh light and become blurry the longer you stared without blinking, until you did and slowly your vision refocused and saw a...lantern?? A bright light from a lantern calmly shined above you in the middle of a ceiling. It's warm glow was a contrast to the absolute throbbing pain that came from your right leg making you internally wince at the bigger painful throb that came from it when you moved it. Wha- Where were you!? Were you finally dead this time?...Couldn't be. You still felt pain, and a dead person wouldn't be able to feel pain surely.  And then...it all came back to you in a bright white flash.
Last night.
The monsters.
The one with insect eyes who fell from the tree. The one with the sword who ate your remaining food. The one that was fat and sounded like a pig. The one who crawled on all fours and used it's tongue as a whip. The one who had grabbed you by the chin and demanded your name. They-..They weren't real right!? Surely now that you had woken up, it had all been a bad fever dream fueled by your paranoia and the scary night! After all you had woken up and there wasn't anymore monsters around here anymore. It was daytime.  Your eyes lightly turned. So there's no way y-
You froze. Your eyes widened. Your jaw dropped open.
Sitting there, just a yard away from you, was a monster. And one you saw before. He had his back to you, sitting on a giant pillow in front of a table. One of his arms was moving slightly, as if he was doing something on the table you couldn't see, and the faint scratching sounds of writing was able to reach your ears from where you laid, although in the moment your shocked brain couldn't register it as writing. Now close to him, you could make out long black hair that reached just above his shoulder blades, and right under that was-...
Oh...
Oh you were gonna be sick-
Right in the center of his back was four deep wounds in a downards-right slash motion, the skin broken and the pink flesh underneath revealed. They weren't that deep, but it was still a horrid sight to be hold anyways. Oddly enough however, they weren't bleeding out despite being open wounds, however there was still splatters of dried blood all over his back and where it dripped down across the skin before it stopped. You stared at the sight wide eyed as an instant wave of sickness hit you, your breath quickened silently and your heart beats spiked for a moment at the horrid sight.
Scribble. Scribble. Scrib-
The sounds of feint writing stopped. And once again there was silence as you continued to lay there silently.
"Hey. You." You flinched at the sudden raspy voice that calmly spoke out. "So you're finally awake."
In an instant, you reacted. Snapping your jaw shut and closing your eyes shut as the thing's head turned to look over his shoulder at you. Resisting the urge to panic and look asleep still-
"I can tell you're awake. Your breathing and heart beats are irregular. I can hear them as plain as day." He could hear that!? "Are you going to continue to keep this annoying charade up or are you going to act like an adult?" You were still frozen even when a hand reached over and you felt a finger poke your arm. Your body couldn't help but flinch making the voice sigh. "There's no need to fear me. If I had wanted you harmed, I would have done so the moment we met last night. I have no intentions of spilling anymore blood and making another mess. Now open your eyes and allow me to speak with you dammit!"
The finger prodded you again and startled you into opening your eyes, having them widen in fear at the face that was -....was...looking bored out of his mind??? The monster just sat there cross legged, with his head in one hand, and rose a brow at your reaction like he was tired of this already. The face he made you...confused. Still worried and afraid but now confused as you blinked.
''That's better," he huffed, "Are you able to speak?" You remained silent staring. "Hey! Are you able to speak or do I need a human translator?!"
"I-I can talk!!," you squeaked out in a panic and he nodded satisfied.
"Good. Now then listen very carefully because I will only ask this once, he spoke with authority but at the same time he still sounded tired. "Who are you? Why are you here?"
Your mouth opened and closed a few times as you tried to pull yourself together before you sputtered out an answer. "I-...I-I was chased in here!"
"By another demon?"
"Y-Yes! B-By lots of demons!"
"I see...Well you shouldn't worry about them from here. They've already been 'dealt with'."
"A-Are you going to eat me?"
That caught the monster off guard because his tired expression went to one of surprise, but then it went back to a frown. "What? Eat you?" You flinched at the new annoyed tone. "Do I look like a cannibal to you? Why would I-" His free hand came to his temples. "Eat you. Is this what Akaza meant by 'classic human paranoia'? NO! I'm not going to eat you. I don't have the least bit interest in doing so."
You were still tense, but let yourself relax a bit at that. "W-Where am I?"
"My home," he clarified with a raised brow, "You and two other uninvited guests barged into my home last night and left a giant mess!"
You winced. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to! It was just I was being chased by that giant hell spawn and I saw your house and-...and..." You again winced when the pain from your leg throbbed hard. "Ah!"
The sudden yell seemed to have startled him a little bit because he jumped and blinked when you made yourself sit up slowly the blanket you were covered in falling off. "What is wrong?"
"My ankle! It hurts!" Another dull throb erupted from just above your ankle where that gross tongue squeezed down hard on it. "That stupid monster must've done something to my leg- WHOA! HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"
You resisted the urge to just outright smack his hand away when he reached over to push the blanket from your legs. "Be calm, Y/n." You froze. "I'm just inspecting where the damage may lie." You didn't move after that, not that he cared as he just calmly looked at your bare legs. The many small cuts and bruises were still present but the healer had said they should heal no problem. It was easy to tell which leg must've been hurting her because the right one had a bruising pattern similar looking to a rope wrapped around your leg tight enough to leave bruising, and it was lightly more swollen than the left ankle. Lightly, he hovered a hand over the area. "Is this where the pain is coming from?"
"OW!" You jolted when he lightly touched it and immediately stopped at your reaction, hissing through your teeth, you nodded. "Y-Yeah. That's it...But how do you know my name? A-And where's my boots!?"
"You told me last night when we first met, and I had my healer remove them." he gestured at your body. "She was the one who looked you over and treated your minor injuries. You should be rid of most of them within a few days time." Last night-....Oh yes. Last night. Just before you passed out. "Although I do have further questions. What are you doing within this part of the forest? You are far from any human settlements."
"Huh?" You blinked. "O-Oh. I was actually heading for the other side o-of the mountain." You gestured with a hand. "But I got lost last night and ended up being chased by quite a few monsters. I thought maybe I'd be able to shelter here until the sun came up, but it seems I was wrong."
Well that certainly explains most of what entailed. So she had gotten lost and ended up being chased by others until she came across his home by chance and was followed in by desperate insects. But he still rose a confused brow. "So you are...not an offered bride?"
You just stared at him for a moment longer, before frowning confused. "Bride? Excuse me, Sir! But I was running away from a marriage, not going into one. I'm nobody's wife. What gave you the idea I was?"
"You are wearing white," he bluntly said as if it was obvious.
You blinked raising a brow at the now slightly torn up and dirty white kimono that you had fled from your village in. "Ok. And?" You gave him a look. "Lots of people wear white, that doesn't mean I'm getting married, and this dress isn't even close to something as elegant as a wedding dress." Now he looked even more confused. Those blue and red eyes looked you up and down looking for an answer for a specific question he held. "What's your name?"
"Huh?..." He looked back at you, slowly blinked, and looked away again. "It's Kyogai."
"Kyogai," you tried out the name on your tongue..before offering a smile. "Thank you for rescuing me last night. If it wasn't for you, I might've been eaten by one of those monsters."
"Yes. Well I-..." he paused mouth open before looking at you again. "Wait. Pardon but did you imply you thought those insects were after you because they wanted to eat you?"
"Yes. That's why I was running from them." You tilted your head. "That's what they were trying to do...Weren't they?"
He groaned. "You really don't know anything do you?" A hand reached back up to rub his head. "No." His hair moved as he shook his head. "No they weren't after you for food, they were seeking a mate."
You stared at him. He stared back at you. He only patiently watched as the gears whirled in your mind, your face a blank slate of emotion until only one word escaped you-
"WHAT?!"
"It is my kind's mating season," he bluntly said, "It lasts this entire month. You wondering into the woods is the equivalent of a rabbit willingly throwing themselves into the jaws of a wolf." He only watched, seeing your expression go from blank to horrified to disgusted. "Wearing the color you have on your person wasn't doing anyone any favors."
"Are you telling me-," you started slowly feeling a disgusted feeling bubbling in your stomach, "-that I was being chased around for the sole purpose of-...O-Of...Because these things wanted me as a wife!?"
"To put it simply, yes. But they weren't supposed to. According to laws they're supposed to at least court you or see if you express interest in offering your dowry." he grunted annoyedly. "Unfortunately there's disgusting insects who don't like to follow the lays. That's why my Master appoints Akaza and other of my ranks to make sure the laws are obeyed." Oh yeah. That reminds him-
"You mean I could've been-..*GAG*" Your hands clasped over your mouth as a disgusted feeling speared through you. "Oh, gods above. I think I'm going to be sick!"
"You do not have to worry. Your problems have been dealt with, and as annoying as it may be, I don't feel like throwing you to the wolves."
Well...thank gods for that at least, you were still having trouble processing this. "I-...I don't even know what to say! What to think! H-How could anyone mistake me f-for a-...THAT!!"
"You're wearing white like the others." Your head snapped to him so fast he was surprised it didn't go flying. "*sigh* It's not often that it happens...But sometimes if the humans are desperate they think sending a forced offering would bring what luck they seek."
"And does that work?"
"More often than not a poor human is just forced into an unwilling union for the rest of their lives. Many years ago it was a sigh of peace to send a bride every year, but now it's more of a taboo practice if it even still happens...Are you alright? You look pale."
You just stared. "....I think I'm going to be sick." You slowly looked back to him. "Well, what's going to happen to me n-now?"
He might've commented on your 'sickness' but the second question seemed to throw the demon through a loop as he opened his mouth ...and slowly closed it looking you over again. "I-....am unsure. I have never encountered a situation like this before."
"So...Does this mean I can just leave?"
He slowly nodded. "I have no reason to keep you here. We are not enemies, and you have not done any of the damages to my home, but I do not believe it is a good idea to do so now."
"My leg?"
"That and I believe you would still be in danger. With yourself being injured, there would be no escape from whoever hunts you."
The thought of potentially some other monster hunting you was bad enough, and all for what? Just because they were that desperate for marriage!? And not escaping...that was NOT an option! An even worse option than Sanemi ever was! That was THE last thing you wanted!
"Then..what do I do?"
"It is..hard to say. I do not know human medicine, so I will not be able to tell what is wrong with you."
This was a big problem. He wasn't expecting an bad turn of events such as this. In reality he was hoping he could just ask her a few questions and send her on her way, then get back to his work for his Master hated delays. But now this complicated things. The idea of throwing an injured human woman to the ravenous wolves wasn't one he liked too much but he hated having a stranger in his home at the same time. Although he guessed he could just have one of the servants take care of her until she healed, but no one here was able to know what injuries she sustained. Could they be permanent? He didn't know. But maybe he knew someone would know! Who did he know that knew humans really well?
The first one who came to mind instantly was Douma. But as soon as he thought that, he disregarded that instantly. No. Douma would not do. He's not one that screams 'I know medical practice' and he'd spend the majority of his time advertising that perverted cult of his. Maybe Akaza? He seemed to like humans the most out of all the upper moons (genuinely not like Douma's creeping 'liking' to them), but again he had nothing that had medical practice etched into it. Kyogai was hesitant to ask his Master himself. The Master would most likely see that as an insult, to disrupt him and his affairs to attend to a stranger, a human with no real significance to him. He'd be punished. Only one person came to mind he knew for certain, but he pushed that idea back. Then thought about him again and then pushed it away again, then it happened again and he frowned, growling at the thought and making you jump at the sudden growl.
There was no wanting to call upon...HIM of all people! He was just as bad as Douma! But-...
"Are..you alright?"
He closed his eyes and nodded. A huge inhale being slowly taken in before being released back out even more slowly. "...Yes." He lied. "I am fine. I believe I know who may be able to help our unfortunate situation."
You perked up. "Really? Who?"
"It would be best if I send a message to see what can be done about him coming here first of all. Our Master prefers us to be busy and dislikes us interrupting others."
He ignored your stare as he turned back around until he was back to facing away from you and down at the table. His documents and quill and ink pot forgotten for the moment but longing to be done. Sigh. He'll have to work hard and fast to make up for the time wasted.
"What are you doing?"
He blocked out her voice. A deeper and slower inhale. Closing his eyes in concentration. Allowing his mind to go into that meditative state. It was like his conscious became thinned, light as air, and as nimble as a snake slithering through the lines of connection between himself and the bonds the Master's blood allowed them all to have. If he had one way of describing it, he would say it felt and looked like a tree rooted into their minds, different branches that were never the same but still connected to the same trunk in the end sharing the same deepened roots. The mind thread slithered ever closer to the door which would lead to the connection he wanted. The one responsible for all transportation within this hivemind of threads, he reached out to that small thread sending a questioning thought for entrance from it. In return a thrum of an instrument vibrated within the wave lengths in return, a questioning tone back at him to what he wanted. A beat of a drum returned in stride.
"Nakime. Lower Moon Six requests the presences of Lower Moon One and the Master if granted."
Nothing was said back but there was a gateway opened and a message sent within the wave lengths. Questioning to a much more powerful force above them both with a second split off towards another branch. He hoped the Master would not be angry at his request. It did not take long for there to be a reply back. In return of his questioning, with the heavy feeling of smog and fire of an engine with a hint of amused-questioning. One he despised but one he wanted anyways. And then something much more darker. Much more wicked. Much more heavy overshadowed the both of them.
The Master.
The twisted, rotting, suffocating presence enveloped the wavelengths and twisted around them like gnarled roots taking in them both completely. He mentally winced and would have gladly avoid this if he could. He was thankfully not angry much to his relief. It was more of a curious hum if anything. But it didn't take away the unease of it at all.
"Master."
"What does Lower Moon Six desire with me?"
Blunt, dark, and straight to the point as usual. The other smaller presence remained silent but he felt a curious tone under the amusement.
"Forgive me. I ask permission for Lower Moon Six to assist myself with an endeavor I am unable to complete-"
PAIN. A claw of talons stabbing into his mind and gripping and entrance way into his thoughts and there was the dark presence finding the answers to why he dared to contact.
"You think it wise to ask of something so trivial of me? For something of unimportance compared to what others and yourself are already tasked with? Is my generosity not enough, Kyogai that you can not fix this yourself?"
"FORGIVE ME MASTER!! Your mercy is not taken lightly or without great thanks! I am forever grateful! But I can not kill without cause as you have commanded! I am following your every word!"
The stabbing pain receded. Pleased with his explanation and permitting him to continue on.
"This human has done nothing to warrant the punishment of death, and I would go against your order of killing without cause if I allow her to leave and die to the elements. Unfortunately I am unequipped for the solution to this problem. I request your permission for Lower Moon One to come and give assistance where he excels at."
The second presence turned to smug mockery at the confession and he couldn't help but feel annoyed at that. However he knew better than to cause trouble and potentially anger their master especially after he was granted the mercy of getting heard out by him. There was silence, calculating thought from the darker, heavier presence which made him nervous, but the voice spoke up again after his heavy consideration.
"I will grant Lower Moon One's aid to you one week from today."
A whole week of waiting!? That'll take forever. Clearly he was annoyed, but quickly squashed those feelings in an instant. It was better to not anger his Master lest he change his mind, he was lucky he was able to be granted his request at all.
"I understand. Thank you, Master. I am grateful. But before we sever ties, I wish to ask something of Upper Moon One before our meeting within a week."
There wasn't any response from his Master except silence, which meant he was allowing Kyogai to ask the second smaller presence what he wanted. His Master must be in a good mood today if he was allowing this second request mercifully. The second smaller presence reached out to touch his own in question, but he was mostly amused and smug about this entire thing. Speaking for the first time since this meeting started.
"Mmmm. Kyogai.~"
He although wanted to gag in displeasure. "Greetings, Enmu."
"I must say, I am quite surprised you would even call my presence here.~ You usually do not speak to me at all beyond meetings." And he wondered why? "But now I know it's because of a pitiful human woman.~ Mmmmm! Tell me is she suffering?~ Did her life flash before her eyes knowing he couldn't escape her perils?~"
"Enough of your mockery! Have respect for the Master is still within our presences!"
"Yes. Forgive me, Master. What is it that Lower Moon Six wishes to ask me?~"
Gods he hated that slimy tone! "The human woman, she is experiencing pain within her body under her ankle. How do I treat it until you can arrive?"
And there was a silence (mercifully) from the annoying tone. A sign that this 'Enmu' was thinking to himself. Kyogai was still suprised he was knowledgeable at all in these topics.
"....Hm. A pain you say? Is there perhaps any bones sticking out? Or deep wounds?"
He hated out both happy and genuinely questioning Enmu's voice was. "No. No visible damage, although the skin is bruised and swollen. She seems in deep pain whenever her leg is touched or moved."
"Can you tell what's wrong?"
"NO! That's why I requested you be sent to me!"
Again another hum. "Then it might be possible her leg is either broken or fractured, but I won't be able to tell until I'm able to look at her. But of course Master's assignments tasked to me comes first.~"
"Then what do I do UNTIL you arrive!?"
"All human bones work in a similar fashion. Like a delicate glasswork, they're so pitifully fragile and weak.~ So you must be careful remembering that.~ You say she experiences pain when she moves her leg? Keep her off it as much as possible. Try to make sure her leg is kept straight and stiff as a board, maybe strap it down if you must. The more she moves it, the more damage to her weakened form she might cause herself.~ Treating the swelling is a different task however...Does your mansion still have that underground well?"
"Of course it does!"
"Hmhmhm.~ Then I suggest submerging her leg within the cold water to help, or perhaps wrapping a cold wet towel gently around the swollen areas.~ I'll send a messenger raven with a recipe for herbal tea that helps numb the pain in human bodies. That should be sufficient enough help until Master allows me to spare a visit.~"
"It does. I thank you for your words." He hated thanking this perverted insect for anything! "Master, I am grateful for your time spent on me. I have no need of anything else at this time."
As instantly as he said that, the dark presence loomed over and overtook the three-way connection between all of them, severing the ties abruptly painfully causing white hot flashes to throb in his mind, and throwing them both tumbling back from one another until both presences were gone and he was left alone amongst the threads of thought. Kyogai took this time to relax and let his own mind rest from the two overwhelming people he had to speak with. Speaking with his Master was always a nerve wracking experience no matter what it was, and Enmu was.....Enmu. He hated the perverted insect to the bone! But..that was one problem off his plate, he was still curious about someone else's involvment within all of this mess. His mind thread reached out once again.
"Upper Moon Five. Are you still present?" A strum of Nakime's bawa answered him in question to what he wanted from her this second time. "Lower Moon Six requests the presence of Lower Moon Two. Please grant me it."
Nothing was said back but there was a gateway opened and a message sent within the wave lengths. Questioning to another branch of this wavelength tree. In return of his request, came a different presence back. This one younger, annoyed, and not too happy to be disturbed at this moment. Brash and no brains. Yep. Just what he was expecting.
"Kaigaku. I'm glad you answered my calling."
"What do you want!? I'm busy!"
Brash and annoying as always. Sigh. "I have something to ask you concerning some events which occurred last night."
"WHAT!?"
He had the urge to slap this ungrateful brat already. "Last night two intruders broke into my home."
"And? It's not my fault most of your staff are girls! You deal with your own territory and don't cry to me about not being able to do your job! If you want me to scare some dam idiots into submission, you can wait until I'm done!"
"You not doing your job is precisely my point! One of the dam insects claimed they were chasing a human bride through the woods!" The anger in the other presence fell silent and he took very close notice of it, but he wouldn't reveal anything to him yet. "It's YOUR job to patrol the east side of the mountain and make sure no strangers enter or any demons leave the forest to that side of the mountain! Clearly you aren't doing your job good enough!"
There was silence for a few seconds as the younger presence thought on what he said. "You have the human?"
So he did know of her huh? "I have no human!" He lied. He had a bad feeling already about having Enmu coming to see this human girl, he won't add a walking headache maker to it too. "DO. YOUR. DAM. JOB!! NEXT TIME SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS I'M REPORTING YOUR MESS UP TO KOKUSHIBO AND THE MASTER!! DO NOT LET SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN AGAIN! CONSIDER THIS YOUR ONLY WARNING!! Nakime, I am done with this message."
"NO! WAI-"
The connection of the two wavelengths were cut off with a harsh strum of a bawa string, like a knife through hot butter, and there was a slight pain from the severed connection. But he confirmed what he needed to confirm and got what he wanted to request. With that he sent one last message. A small reach out to Nakime in thanks to her services, to which he got a single neutral strum back in response before she left him. And he was left alone. And Kyogai took that as his time to leave the wave lengths. Down, down, down he tumbled until he felt his mind reconnect with his body and feeling returned with the sigh of his lips. The feeling of sitting on the comfy pillow.
And the feeling of water against his back???
He yelped when something pressed firmly against his back that was cold, wet...yet oddly soft. A small pain throbbed from his back as something delicately wiped at his back between the slashes still present and his neck twisted all the way around like an owl's startling a tiny human into dropping the red stained towel in her hands and leaning away from his back.
"What are you doing!?", he demanded with a scowl.
You stared at him, and the weird position of having his head turned all the way around to stare at you like an owl while his back was still facing you....but then you rose a brow. "I'm washing the dried blood off your back, and cleaning your wounds. They're exposed and that's not good! They could get infected!" You tilted your head at him. "I did ask if it was alright if I did it."
"What? No you didn't!"
"Yes, I did. I asked you if you were hurt but you didn't answer. Then I asked if It was okay if I helped you. You still didn't answer me but you didn't move when I started, so I took it as you were alright with it."
He didn't say anything at first, just staring at you blankly before looking down near your legs. You were sitting on your knees, with a bason of water and water pitcher next to you the water was already a tinted red from where you must've dunked the towel (That used to be on your forehead-) to use it to clean up his back. The towel itself was stained a light red. His eyes then turned downwards to his back and was surprised to find all the previously dried blood cleaned off and the wounds still present looking cleaner having the filth removed. He just...stared back at you.
"....Why were you doing that?"
"Because you saved my life, and because it was my fault in the first place for running in here and bringing those monsters to follow me. If I hadn't, this wouldn't have happened to you." You gestured to his back. "And...I'm sorry for that."
He just remained silent but his head snapped back around with a crackle of bones that made you wince at the noise and looked away from you again. "You don't need to apologize, and I don't want your apologies. I will heal within two days time anyways."
"It doesn't matter! I don't want you to be hurt whether it's my fault or not!" He paused again...before looking over his shoulder at you and your frown. "So either you take care of it or I'll tend to you myself."
He just stared at you silently for a long moment, before he sighed again. "Fine. I tire of fighting, and if you're insisting on this matter-" A hand reached up to one of the strange lumps sticking from his body and tapped the one on his left leg twice.
You were left to wonder what he was doi- The sound of the sliding door opening startled you into falling off your knees, a hiss threw your teeth at the throb of pain from your ankle.
"You called me, Lord Kyogai?", a woman's voice asked and you nearly gasped when you looked over. A woman was standing in the doorway, except she didn't look human. She was dark purple from head to toe except for her hair which was pure cinnamon brown and she had no eyes. Just a nose and mouth which was smiling. Her plain orange kimono was the only normal thing about her.
"Yes," Kyogai answered without looking from the table, "Send for Eri to come tend to my wounds after all." A clawed hand pointed to the dirtied water and towel. "Take these away to be disposed of, and bring us the coldest water from the well. It will be needed for the human."
She bowed. "At once, Lord Kyogai."
She didn't waist any time in rushing in to collect the objects he had pointed out to her before quickly exiting the room, leaving you both alone again. Then you turned back to the largest demon.
"Who was that?"
"Nagi. She is one of my servants appointed to me by our Master. She is quite competent, which I find best in any servant I have here."
"Your Master gives you servants?"
"Not all of them were appointed by him. Some of them are those I chose to take in to shield from the dangers of my kind. Others were brought here by their families as offered servants."
"Some of your servants were gifted to you by their own families!? That's cruel!"
"No.... It would be crueler if I turned them away." His tone took a slightly softer edge. "If I hadn't, they would've been offered to someone else who could've been much crueler than I. They are beneath me in terms of ranks, but I do not treat them unfairly. They are paid, and I make sure they are sheltered and not overworked with plenty of food."
"....You sound like a good man to work for."
He made a noise and you jumped at the new noise before realizing the sound he was making from him chuckling. "Or so I've been told, but you are the first human to say that to be, so I will take that as a compliment. ...I have asked my Master to send a college of mine." He frowned again. "He is....very unlikable." Which was putting it lightly. Very lightly. "But he is knowledgeable in human medicine. He will be here within a week to tend to you."
"A week!?"
"Yes. Unfortunately it will take him a while to get here which is why he has said to stay off your leg and keep it still." His head turned back to you. "So please do not sit on your knees again or attempt to walk by yourself. I'll have Eri tend to you until he arrives. Until then, you shall remain here where safety can be provided. My kinds' mating season lasts until this month is over, and I'm afraid your condition will leave you open to attacks."
You had to stay here for an entire week!? And you had to wait another two weeks until this month was over to escape safely!? UGH!! Great! This was turning out to be a great turn of events.
"But what if more of them come in here looking for me?"
"I highly doubt any will. It's forbidden to go against a Twelve Kizuki. If anymore insects should find their way in here....Then I'll eliminate them."

👺: Those Thankless Years || mech pilots, stigmatization, expectations, victimhood, disability, dehumanization, guilt, oww oww owww, somehow ended up with at least 3 references in this
There was an alley I passed by every day, twice a day, back and forth, morning and evening, as my schedule demanded, as I left my home before dawn and returned after nightfall.
Wasn't actually an alley; an intercostal space, between the ribs of a Beast that had fallen here years ago, now reclaimed by the city. Ghastly thing to leave standing, but then it'd been years since one of them had gotten anywhere near a population center, and memories had faded.
Was a sort of shrine now, what passed for one; a few more true believers crowded into the narrow space each time I passed, stringing lights of all sorts together in garish reverence.
Never bothered to look inside. Didn't need to; already knew what I'd see.
Another fucking Stig.
See, the world had needed the Seraphs back then, when the Beasts came. And that man? The one who'd made angels? Well, he'd given the people exactly what they'd needed.
Hope.
Hope and a belief in the future. No matter what it cost him. No matter what it cost us.
The first ones we cobbled together from dolls and half-assed prayer, pushed both machine and pilot to their breaking points. But people hated seeing their idols broken and shattered. We needed Seraphs to be impeccable icons of our cause, striding hymns of human exceptionalism.
So we did what we always do: hid all our dirty little secrets behind a facade and made it someone else's problem.
Don't remember who realized we could invert Halo fields. Don't want to.
All I know is I every morning I leave home and work at forgetting until it's time to sleep.
It was the dirtiest kludge of them all, to feed it back at the pilots, but it made the Seraphs truly were unstoppable. I've seen a Brumeraven put three talons clean through a core without a mark, the cruelest Flame any Beast could muster left our shining protectors unsullied.
All of that turned inwards instead, hollowing out the pilots instead.
Seemed kinder at first. No more broken bones or necrosis. And when they couldn't maintain a field any more, they got a grand send off.
"Compassionate Discharge," out the door with accolades and nothing more.
We never asked if they'd wanted it. We'd made them, but we never thought to ask if they wanted to be heroes. If they wanted to be martyrs.
That's how we ended up with this problem. People stopped caring about the gods we'd built. They'd rather worship the ones we'd made instead.
The kids had seemed physically fine when we'd released them. Wasn't until they began to turn back up as Stigs that we knew what we'd done.
Today...today I decided to take a look on my way home.
And there she was, at the end of the alley, in the middle of that neon necropolis.
Alone, staring at nothing, eyes glazed and unfocused, careless of the meager hundred kneeling all around her, heedless of the mismatched flowers and benedictions and prayers heaped at her feet, if none closer than a meter. No one would touch the divine.
It was all worthless.
Even from where I was, it was easy to see her marks. Half her jaw' torn away, a perfect simulacrum of golden light in its place, crazed lines spiderwebbing outwards across most of her face.
Golden scars covered most of her body, cuts here, burns there, cracks shot through her.
All of that hope. All of that conviction that had once shook the heavens, moved machines that towered over the city, stood tirelessly in guard of us all...
It was all wasted now. Twisted up and turned inwards, an endless struggle to contain the Void that tried to tear her apart.
And her devotees, well, they worshipped her.
They worshipped her fragility.
Worshipped her resilience.
A whole fucking church, crying out her name.
A hundred voices praising her bravery. And not a one asked what she wanted.
But I could. I could care. I could push my way through the crowd. Give her the bread and cheap wine I'd bought to get me through the night. Hug her, show her she was still human, try to fill those cracks, show the congregation how little she was, how great she could still be...
Phaw. What did it matter anyways. They believed in her past.
Tannin and ethanol as bitter ablution, the screw lid cast over my shoulder in lieu of salt. Who believed in a future anyways?
I put my head down, pulled my hood low, trying to hide her. From her.
Maybe tomorrow.

modern au acoc pcs playing totk
amethar: plays the game sprinting from one combat to the next. hasn't been a big gamer even as a kid but once he got in the groove of the controls with botw he's been killing it. first to beat the final boss in the household and jokingly rubs it in everyone else's face while they yell at him for skipping the side quests.
jet: hyper-completionist. really good at the close combat, has basically memorized the timing for perfect flurry rushes for every enemy. Will continue to hog the switch until she has successfully completed all shrines, seen all memory cutscenes, and collected all 900 korok seeds
ruby: tbh idk if she even has her own save file, she might just borrow Jets every once in a while to fuck around. her fav thing to do in the game is make fucked up contraptions and drive them thru enemy camps or record herself getting crazy trick shots to put on her soc media
liam: very much into the exploring and cooking! Doesn't find the depths as creepy as the rest of the household and goes frighteningly long without putting down a light. passes the controller to jet or amethar for bosses bc he's not as good at the close combat and mainly just likes to play to compare game progress with his family
cumulous: not really his speed. got to the optional boss in the starting area and beat it with just 13 arrows and a couple sticks for weapons and went mmmm not for me 🫤 and went back to ripping people apart in mortal kombat and street fighter
saccharina: either didn't grow up with video game consoles and isn't as much of a gamer or literally is a streamer shes fifty fifty in my head. if she plays I think she likes the shrine puzzles and the building mechanics in particular, but really plays for the story
theo: used to play a lot of games when he was younger and made the mistake of backseat gaming a little too much while every one else had their turn. when he got to play and was just barely passable at the game he got clowned on so hard. overly relies on the meals and upgrading armor to survive combat, takes comfort in the fact that he is only the Second Worst gamer in the household.
lapin: woefully, painfully bad at the game. everyone else made him play as a joke but he's not even like the kind of bad that's fun to watch. doesn't move the movement stick all the way so link will just walk until one of the younger rocks literally shows him the exact position his hands need to be in and then will literally forget in a few minutes and act like something's wrong with the controller. picked up the concept of backseat gaming from when everyone was yelling at Theo and uses it much to argue much to everyones chagrin as they despairingly try to get him to replace his weapons after they break and he doesn't notice. doesn't get annoyed or actually care about the lack of progress or deaths, just has fun fucking around not ever leaving the starting area. no one makes him play a video game ever again.

November InuPrompts 2022: Direction (11.07.22)
Summary: Inuyasha gets lost in the modern era.
Tumblr media
Sometimes taking a wrong turn will take you to the right place. Sometimes, though, taking a wrong turn takes you to the wrong place. Sometimes one wrong turn will lead to multiple wrong places.
The atmospheric humidity mingled with the smog that permeated every corner of this wretched world made it hard to breathe. As if the suffocating and relentless stampedes of nameless faces didn’t do a good enough job stealing the air from his lungs. A thick film of grim clung to his skin. The bottoms of his feet were black and sticky. He was tired. He was hungry. He was gross.
And, worst of all, he was lost.
All he’d wanted to do was make sure Kagome got home safe. That’s all he’d wanted but the crowds slowed him down and the doors to the train closed faster than he could reach them. With this many people, he couldn’t very well run after her so he’d waited for the next train which logically would take him to the same place Kagome went. From there, he could follow her scent.
Except…there was no scent. Not at any of the stations and when the train announcer said “last stop” Inuyasha realized he’d royally screwed up. So he’d done the next logical thing and hopped on a different train. Which took him a completely different way from where he came. The next two train rides had similar results. Now he didn’t know up from down much less if he’d been at this particular station before. Going above ground wouldn’t help. He could barely track Kagome here unless she was in danger. Her scent was barely detectable above the pollution and when he sniffed too ardently here, his head started spinning. Shit, one time he’d nearly passed out from the effort.
Which meant that running around above ground until he found the shrine would probably get him more lost. Five hundred years had changed the topography and any landmarks he knew like the back of his hand simply weren’t there anymore.
Confronted with the fact he was hosed, Inuyasha sank down into a bench and dropped his face into his hands. This, right here, is why Kagome’s mother told him not to use these damn machines. But did he listen? Was that a joke? Of course, he didn’t. He never listened to anyone. Life was just a compilation of him trying to outrun the consequences of his own actions.
Like carrying a sword around in crowded public spaces. That had been another warning he’d ignored too for obvious reasons.
Inuyasha took a moment to cast a worried glance down at the sword on his hip. Carrying around a sword - even though he knew it was necessary - was against the law. This was an “issue” because he had no identification and therefore no permit meaning he’d very likely be detained. Couldn’t murder his way out of that situation which was his normal go-to when his life was in danger. Not here. Sniffling lightly, Inuyasha raised his head just enough to glance at the officers around him. A few were already starring at him. One had their phone out and was taking pictures.
The one taking pictures suddenly began moving towards him and Inuyasha’s stomach dropped. This, among many other valid reasons, was why Ms. Higurashi had insisted he’d learn how to use a phone and memorize the phone number that would get him to Kagome in the event something did happen. In case he got in trouble.
“Excuse me sir,” the youngish looking officer began with a somewhat shy grin, “May I ask who your cosplay is?”
Inuyasha blinked a few times before running his sleeve beneath his nose and sitting up.
“Sorry?”
“The character? Who are you dressed up as?” the guard repeated, “I have a bet going with my friend. Kenshin Himura or a member of the Hakkenden.”
Opening then closing his mouth, Inuyasha was more confused than ever and already extremely frazzled, couldn’t think of a good answer quick enough. So he took the easy route.
“F-first one,” he muttered with a miserable sigh, “The first one.”
The man’s grin widened before his eyes glanced up at Inuyasha’s long hair.
“It think it’s your hair that threw it off for him. And the pants. Next time you do it, just wear some more comfortable sandals so you don’t wind up barefoot and maybe splurge for a good red wig. Black-“
Inuyasha’s eyes went wide and his hand flew to his hair to check for himself.
Oooohhh. This was bad. This was so bad. Not only was it too soon for this but he was lost in the middle of nowhere. Trapped in conversation with someone who could totally arrest him if they wanted. In essence, he’d have no way to fight back were something to happen and also it meant he’d been lost for hours. Literally all day. Which was much longer than he’d previously thought.
“…but I mean your costume is super authentic. I’m very impressed. Really-“
“Thanks. I guess,” Inuyasha interrupted softly before swallowing the bitter pill that he needed to actually ask for and accept help, “Look. I think I’m lost and I need to find the Higuarshi shrine? Do you know where that is?“
The man made a face and laughed softly.
“Ah, so you came from out of town. Don’t feel bad. I know my girlfriend gets turned around every time she visits,” the guard hummed in amused sympathy before raising his hand and pointing, “Go up the stairs and it’s four or five blocks to the left. Or the next stop should drop you off a block away. To the right. I walk by every day on the way to work.”
Blinking a few more times, Inuyasha felt both immensely relieved and also very stupid.
“Don’t feel bad. At all. Like I said, it’s super easy to get turned around,” the man offered kindly before biting his lip and swaying slightly, “So...quick question. Where’d you get your costume? Did you make it or-”
“M-my father gave it to me. It’s old,” Inuyasha offered lamely after an excruciatingly long pause accentuated by an overly long emphasis on the word ‘or’.
“Lucky. No wonder it’s good quality,” the man acknowledged with no lack of jealously, “Probably too expensive to alter then?”
Inuyasha nodded for lack of anything better to say.
“Makes sense. Makes sense. Well scratch what I said about the pants. I hope you had fun at Comic Market, I’m supposed to be going tomorrow,” the man laughed softly, “Who are you going as? Maybe I’ll see you around the convention cent-“
“I-I’m not going,” Inuyasha cut the man off as he got to his feet and offered a quick appreciative bow, “I gotta get home. So, um, thanks.”
“You’re very welcome. Us Cosplayers have to stick together, no?” the man hummed and Inuyasha offered him a timid smile before quickly and awkwardly making his way towards the stairs.
About thirty or so minutes later, an extremely worried Kagome was pacing by the shrine stairs as she had been doing since the sun went down. Sota had seen Inuyasha here earlier. The group back home said he hadn’t come back. The moon…who knew that the moon cycles were different here anyway?! She’d never paid enough attention to realize and she’d bet her life on the fact that Inuyasha hadn’t paid attention either. Probably stuck atop a building all alone or maybe he’d gotten hurt. And it wasn’t like she could track him without an aura. Couldn’t get the police involved. All she could do is wait and hope-
A soft cry escaped her when she saw a very frightened and human Inuyasha appear on the street corner. The faint neon lights illuminating the subtle shaking body. Without further thought on the matter she broke into a run down the stairs.
“INUYASHA?!” Kagome managed to yell - her voice cracking and hoarse as she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. The way he jumped then absolutely melted in relief broke her heart. The way he stumbled then held her tightly when she collided with him made her love him more.
“Next time you go somewhere take me with you,” Inuyasha breathed hoarsely  as he pulled back and gently took her chin in his hand - his thumb gently stroking her cheek, “Do not leave me behind. Can you promise me that?”
“Technically, I didn’t know you were even-” Kagome began before Inuyasha dipped down and captured her lips to cut whatever argument she had off. Before she could properly respond, he’d pulled back and was once again giving her a very stern look.
“No leaving me alone. Ever. Got it?” he repeated his earlier demand before smirking when she simply stared at him like a doe in the headlights. So, he dipped forward again and hummed happily when this time she responded. Maybe it was because he was human that he needed this type of reassurance and felt brave enough to seek it out. Maybe getting lost in a strange world was just this final straw that made him stop trying to fight how he felt.
“Are you going to leave me behind again?” Inuyasha panted lightly when he pulled back again and tried to read her shell-shocked expression. When she didn’t answer imediately, he dipped right back down with all the passion he normally kept locked away.
Mainly, this was happening because he’d been scared shitless and kissing her made him feel better. After all, he’d wanted to kiss her for a long, long time now. Since basically forever truth be told. Almost getting lost forever in a dark dirty hole put some things in perspective. Life, for the most part, sucked but it sucked less when you weren’t alone. When you asked for things like help and tokens of affection.
Not that he’d asked but he figured kissing her like he’d wanted might make her eager to agree with his demand. After all, anyone with a brain knew she loved him. Letting her know he returned that favor in a very blunt non-verbal way would get what he wanted. No more being alone. No more being afraid. No more being left behind.
Worked like a charm too. Mid-kiss, she nodded. Which was a win he needed after a day like today.
“Now that that’s settled,” he hummed hoarsely when he found the strength and will to pull back - grinning down at a very flushed and still confused looking woman with all the love and affection he normally held back, “Let’s get the fuck inside.”
And so it was that several wrong turns led Inuyasha to the right place. Lead him a lot of other places too but what mattered was eventually he got to where he belonged.

Faith. Religion. Conspiracy.
You had seen it all, been hand in hand in creating some of these human traits. Back in the beginning, you were labelled a human, then a miracle, followed by 'goddess,' and so on until the tradition that celebrated you died out to a few families.
Now, you were called 'the first one,' 'the original god.' You preferred y/n, though.
You had had plenty of time to consider what you were, everyone around you, and why you were different. Everything has answers was the very motto you were known for, but it wasn't true.
Because it only takes that last thought to break down everything you worked so hard for.
~~~
" But why are you unkillable? "
The void of a voice called to you as its husk followed along with your steps.
Your dear friend Douma once again tested the question on his blood-stained lips. You wondered if he ever got bored of asking, but that would require him to feel boredom at all.
" Why are you not, Douma? " A laugh fell past his lips at the question you always shot back. You both knew the answer; even demons were mortal, as everything but you had been.
This blood-thirsting creature never strayed too far from you when you would visit his mountain. It wasn't every day that two otherworldly beings got to mingle, and you were the only one he considered worthwhile.
After all, you wore that dried blue spider lily in your hair.
Douma noticed you wore it every time you visited him, now. You had all sorts of accessories you liked to exchange, each from different people who had long since passed. He assumed you wore it because it reminded you of him.
It would be a painful memory for anyone else, but you took it with a laugh. He broke you from your century-long rest to get it, and you cut his head off in return.
Fortunately for him, you weren't made of the only ore that could kill him. You helped him reattach it after lecturing the demon.
And then, you freaked out; because demons weren't supposed to exist.
But the past was over; in all that time, neither of you aged a day and instead went about your respective duties. Douma fooled his cult, and you took your righteous place with your following.
How your places of worship differ.
" Still eating those that don't know any better? " You always sounded so disapproving and disappointed; that never changed no matter how much you tried to adjust to the new ways of life. Demons were normal now, and they had to eat. To stop him would disrupt the natural flow of the world you wished to preserve, but you couldn't help feeling bad for your favourite species.
" Try not to sound so sad! " Douma never got what you saw in them, but perhaps he was biased. He had all kinds of people just like him, and you were the only of your kind.
As opposed to this desolate jail place of worship, you owned only a towering shrine. It was magnificent, hidden among mountains and protected by the nature surrounding it.
The section where your tomb sat was the most recent addition, but the oldest part dated back thousands of years.
Anyone came and went as they pleased, asking for blessings and leaving their offerings. Before you had fallen asleep, you used to speak and answer to them, but recently all prayers were logged in stacks of books left behind for you to read.
Even now, you carried one in your hand about halfway through it.
You promised you'd read every last page to make up for your absence and, when ready, visit the families themselves.
Occasionally the upper moon visited your shrine, especially when you hadn't gone to see him in all too long, but you always ushered him out. 'Too destructive' 'Ruining the peace,' you always had a new reason.
Still, Douma was your friend, and he wouldn't actually go out of his way to cause you harm.
As much as he wanted that blue spider lily, it was useless if it wasn't alive, and it seemed Muzan had no clue you existed, so what was the harm in keeping his pretty little secret to himself?
As expected of someone so unique, Douma liked you. At least that's what he assumed it was.
If he felt so calm, happy, free in your presence, then surely it just meant he had subconsciously fallen for a god. No person could truly be free from emotion; it was just infrequent that it hit him, so the fact that you consistently bubbled up his heart proved it.
The sound of your steps stopped; Douma's soon did the same as he glanced back at you. Your eyes were staring right into his, searching.
" Douma, I have been keeping something from you. "
' Oh? ' You were so direct that it almost startled him. Since when did his delicate flower know how to be so assertive?
He turned his body completely to face you, stepping closer so he could hear you better.
" You know that prophecies are pretty standard in any religion, I'm sure? " There wasn't much point in waiting for an answer, but you had to take a moment to cull over your following words, " Well, in all truth, I knew I would meet you since the day I came to light, but I didn't expect it to be like this. "
' How vague,' you thought to yourself, almost regretful that you couldn't say more. It would be wrong to meddle too much, but you knew there was only so much time left for Douma.
" Oh! Well, I know. "
You didn't expect a reply, certainly. One of his pale hands just waved it off while the other covered his mouth as he laughed. Still, you saw his pointed teeth peek between his fingers.
" If we are sharing secrets, it doesn't bother me. I am just glad I'll be spending it with you. "
He sure was a strange one, but you weren't innocent either. No average person could confess love without even using the word or any that might hint at a relationship.
Yet you each admitted to your weakness for the other. A god who would give up on changing the future for a demon. A demon that would give up immortality for a god.
You supposed it was the better way; asking the other for dinner wouldn't work either; you shuddered just thinking of the carnage.
Random TotK Thoughts #3
Tumblr media
How am I supposed to save Hyrule when there's so many distractions? I'm only now starting another regional phenomenon (the Gorons) after activating all but one of the towers, doing all the Great Fairy sidequests and doing more of Penn's sidequests. I'm up to 56 shrines completed and over 100 Koroks found. It's impossible not to get sidetracked in this game and both I love it and hate it. xD
I also collected the next three Dragon Tears. (I consulted a spoiler free guide to make sure I got them in order, if you're curious.) And wow...I sure got my wish for a demonstration of Rauru's powers, and I was not disappointed.
-I've found a couple of those "Eventide" shrines and yikes are they a pain. Two of them weren't that bad, but the one I found where it was pitch darkness? A very bad time! Took me three tries. I can't wait to see how much worse they get. /s
-I much prefer how they handled the Great Fairies in this game. I didn't get to the 4th fairy in BotW until very, very late, since she was way in the desert and cost 10,000 Rupees. The sidequests were fun and they're easy to do even with minimal health and equipment.
-I want to explore the sky more, but it's too hard to get around between islands. I guess this is my enticement to go into the Depths so I can upgrade my batteries (which is a priority but again....too many distractions!)
-I resent that the game made me hold the idiot ball when "Zelda" was kidnapped, and then the disguised Yiga mocked me for falling for it. [eyeroll] Nintendo does love to troll players that way.
-Ditto for the "Zelda" we see with Yunobo. It's a little insulting how the game is trying to convince me she's turned evil when it's also shown me that she's thousands of years in the past. The present day Zelda is clearly an imposter, either another Yiga or something similar.
-I love how Memory 4 starts, giving us our first look at non-mummified Ganondorf looking menacingly at Hyrule and declaring that he will make it bow before him. His design is awesome, and I especially like how he contrasts with Link. Ganon's just huge, a tall and broad wall of muscle, and Link's a tiny little shortking. Who will soundly kick his ass.
-I also love how the generic soldiers and Zelda are (rightly) freaking out about a swarm of Molduga, and Rauru barely moves faster than a brisk walk as he approaches the ledge. And then he wordlessly fires off his Holy Hand Grenade and obliterates all the Molduga. You can tell even Ganondorf was impressed.
-I guess that scene also definitively answers my question about how Rauru's third eye works.
-Memory 5 was a nice callback to Ocarina of Time and I appreciated the homage. I was also deeply relieved that the writers didn't make Rauru suddenly hold the idiot ball and instead made this more of a "keep my enemies closer" situation. It comes across as mildly arrogant or naive at worst, but it doesn't make Rauru look outright foolish.
-I enjoyed Ganon's passive-aggressive "compliments" and how Rauru gave him an almost bored brush off.
-So the Zonai are already nearly extinct, with just Rauru and Mineru left? What happened to the rest of them? Did they really come from the sky originally? How long had they been living on the surface before Hyrule was founded? (The ruins in the present suggest a long time.) Where do their Secret Stones come from? I want to know all of these things!
-It was completely unsubtle how the camera lingered on the Secret Stones, particularly Sonia's. I'm sure that's not significant.
Tumblr media
-Memory 6 was so wholesome. Zelda was so cute with the way she gushed over Link, and Sonia and Rauru both sounded like amused parents teasing her about her very unsubtle crush.
-It's also a nice callback (call forward?) to what Rauru's ghost said to Link at the end of the tutorial.
-Finally got a clear shot of the cool Triforce tattoos on Sonia's wrists too. How does the Triforce fit into this continuity anyway? We know it exists because we saw it when Zelda used her powers in BotW, and there's Sonia's tattoos and the conspicuous triangle pattern on Rauru and Mineru's shawls (and the fringe on nearly everyone's clothes as well). It's so weird how neither of these games have mentioned such an iconic object in the Zelda mythos by name, and have only made vague visual allusions to it.
