procrastinating school work so let me talk about my starwars (Anakin) aus

There's that lion!Vader Au, if I named it I don't remember the name but basically, either Anakin doesn't tell Padme where he's going or she doesn't go to Mustafar. might actually have R2D2 with Padme as her bodyguard or Anakin just didn't want r2 to know what he did to the separatist leaders. anakin doesn't come back from Mustafar because when he leaves the planet, the force decides 'okay, enough atrocities for the next... two decades.' and transforms him into a lion and sends him to a green planet. Sidious finds him a year later and decides to just build a gladiator ring and throw him in there to execute the people he wants dead on television.

19 years later Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Padme, Cody, and Rex all get captured and are sentenced to be executed as a group with some other non-important people. Anakin eats the non-important people and vaguely recognizes some but tries to kill Luke and Leia because he doesn't recognize them.

SITS au - sith in the senate au - me trying to explore my favorite arc (mortis) and what would have happened if Anakin left with the son (and the daughter) and the father let Ahsoka and Obi-wan go thirty minutes later but Anakin is nowhere in sight when they go back to the real world. this is also the au where the Tusken massacre is really addressed in this au, in others it didn't happen, obviously in lion!vader it did since it only changes in rots. i don't know if it's really a character study that I'm doing for this au but I'm actually writing an essay on Anakin for my writing class and I'm so using elements from this for that and from that for this.

(please- someone stop me from making Barriss run away from the Jedi and Anakin adopting Barriss after she ends up on Tatooine and Anakin gets over his initial feeling of 'YOU D:<')

anakin gets found by Palpatine and Shimi (is that how you spell it? it doesn't look right) dies (i think) but surely its not you Pal Friendpatine's fault :0

Anyway, Palpatine finds Anakin at like... 5 and adopts him and brings him on his path to becoming chancellor and then the clone wars start at the Naboo blockade, Palpatine started cloning **early**. no, I have no idea how old Jango Fett is, why do you ask? anakin befriends some of the clones and takes an interest in politics because he thinks he can convince then senate to stop creating clones and just recruit normal civilians to the army.

this au is inspired by Hazbin Hotel song 'you didn't know' and some brave group of clones tries to plead their case to the senate, ankin watches in on it, nala se mentions the chips in the kaminoan rebuttal of clone rights and Anakin FREAKS. palpatine tries to calm him saying 'they are to control them, they're dangerous otherwise' and basically dooms himself. also, Anakin specifically has wings. see, I subscribe to the thinking of 'Anakin can shapeshift due to his unstable DNA' I read about in in a fanfic on a03 somewhere and despite me spending twenty minutes to try and find it using various tags, I could not. anakin leaves taking a majority of the coruscant guard with him and goes back to Tatooine and starts freeing a whole bunch of planets over the years. the meeting in the senate takes place when he is fourteen, the empire starts when he is seventeen. Anakin adopts Boba and Galen Marek. anakin and the freed outer rim either hide rebel bases or use their revolutions as distractions for the empire.

Retconned rebel Anakin Au. aka, Barriss is the same age as Anakin and befriends him and Ferus eventually befriends him, and Anakin is closer to those two and some others than Obi-wan and Ahsoka (who is Obi-wan's padawan) Barriss never bombs the temple, the empire rises but the original empire dies like a year into the reign and another emperor rises.... Emperor Obi-wan Kenobi and his daughter Ahsoka how are both overly attached to rebel leader Anakin Skywalker and are both trying to adopt him and turn him to their side... by kidnapping Anakin's family. (rexanidala). anakin adopts so many kids, most of them are force-sensitive and want to fight so he lets them reluctantly but those not young enough to choose or fight are sent to live with Rex, Padme, Luke, Leia, and their grandparents; Dooku and Plo.

Ventress and Anakin Swap au, sort of. anakin got nabbed from his mom by Dooku. Dooku never found Ventress, Obi-wan does instead. Obi does not train Ventress but they are friends forever after. ventress tries forcefully redeeming the seventeen-eighteen year old Sith lord and it only sort of works. he defects but really only after he finds out about the slavery in creating battle droids. Anakin isn't really a separatist general, he just has a specialized group of droids that he rebuilds after fights with Jedi. he never fights clones with droids.

after defecting Anakin plans with Ventress and decides to free the outer rim then take the former slaves that will join him and start up a third party to the war. inspired by 'blood oath' by the art of pleasing princes.

okay so for this next au, named Anakin Umakkar, The rain storm. sources are ADragonsFriend and @fialleril or fialleril on a03, and @clawedandcute or ClawedandCute (Adi_Fire) on a03. and songs this au is inspired by for this au is (and in order) Puppeteer, Done For, Hell is Forever, There are Other Ways, What Did I Miss? and Respectless.

Umakkar was a name I first read about in a book called 'Elder sisters' by ADragonsFriend. I first heard about Ekkreth in Fialleril's books. the concept of Anakin staying on Tatooine was inspired by ClawedandCute's book and au 'The Accidental Sith'

Anyway, Qui-gon and the queen's ship never stops on Tatooine, but the clone wars do not start early. a solid two months into the Clone Wars, it is revealed that Jabba the Hutt has been dead for a year, and Tatooine has freed itself from the huts. Senator Padme Amidala and Jedi Obi-wan Kenobi (and Padawan Ahsoka Tano) are sent to Tatooine to try to get Tatooine to align with the republic. now please listen to Puppeteer and Done For (no, Anakin does not turn any clones into pigs, just like any non-clone serving in the army ). once Obi-wan draws his lightsaber on Anakin, Anakin just swipes it away, unhurt, and has him and other... three (Cody, Padme, and Ahsoka)locked up until he decided to hear them out. (cue hell is forever, the last lines being, "the freed outer rim has found both the separatists and the republic to be the enemy" ya know due to their armies) then when it looks like Anakin is gonna do something to them to send a message to the republic, Obi-wan pleads with him and mentions the Sith Dooku mentioned and any evil smile on Anakin's face slips away into annoyance "Sidious, huh?" and in 'There are other ways' fashion tells obi-wan about Mortis and other wells in the force that might be better for the Jedi to focus at. when asked why he had that reaction to the 'Sidious' character, he implies that Sidious has reached out to him to join either side of the war, like once per side.

he sends Obi-Wan and the Clones that want to return on their way and a year later decides that enough is enough and heads to Coruscant under the pretense of negotiating. palpatine sets up a committee to welcome Tatooine to the republic only for 'respectless' to happen and Anakin starts arguing with Orn Free Taa, then Palpatine himself and once Palpatine leaves, turns to the Jedi in the room and says "yeah, you might want to look into that..." and leaves.

Detached Mortis god au: inspired by the ocean saga

switching up the timeline here, Rako Hardeen happens, the Wrong Jedi arc happens, *Then* mortis happens. Anakin is alone on Mortis, he decides to stay, Padme is pregnant, the empire rises, Padme survives and joins the rebellion, Ahsoka becomes Fulcrum. Obi-wan joins the rebellion to help train Luke and Leia. Luke, Leia, Han, Ezra and some others start on a mission, but it starts off rough. Ezra decides to pray to a Force Diety he or Ahsoka met once and the diety appears and decides to grant them safe passage to the actual start of the mission as long as they keep Ahsoka, who they meet up with later on the mission, safe. if they accept and fail, another god is going to have a really big problem with them. they accept and all goes well until the last day of the mission, everything falls apart and Ahsoka is separated from the group and captured. the gang decides they need to go back to base to think and plan. on their way back their ship is seemingly attacked but they cant tell by what, they crash land at base and get out of the ship, not the falcon, only to meet two dragon-like-creatures, and a portal opens and a very pissed Anakin steps out. he kidnaps a bunch of rebels and puts them in the world between worlds and tells them they only get their people back when Ahsoka is safe. Obi-Wan and Padme only make it to the hangar this goes down once Anakin has stepped back through the portal.

It is peak comedy Anakin getting Qui gon killed because he didn’t do his taxes I can imagine anakin has been waiting all winter and early spring to enact his final act of vengeance on Qui Gon. here is a 2k ficlet of playmaker obi-wan and vader, the first mob meeting obi-wan attends while undercover! as always with playmaker au, a case could be made for dubcon

Obi-Wan takes several deep breaths outside the double doors, stopping on the last stair up the staircase. He doesn’t mean to stop, of course. What he means to do is keep going, push through the double doors and walk into the meeting like he belongs there, like there’s a reason Ben Lars would be in attendance. If he’s confident enough, no one will question him.

Hopefully.

But his legs stop moving suddenly without his permission. His entire body feels on edge.

He can call himself Ben all he wants, he can pretend he’s looking to break into the mob scene, he can pretend he belongs, but his body knows what his mind is trying to forget for the sake of his mission.

His body is chock-full of instincts and paranoia they trained into him at the academy, that his father spent his entire childhood teaching him.

His body knows he is walking into the lion's’ den. Behind those doors is a room full of starving wolves and the most dangerous monster of them all: Vader.

Ben would be thrilled with the mob boss’ attention, he thinks. After all, Ben moved to Coruscant with the goal of working his way into Vader’s mob, seeking the protection and immunity membership would offer him. Ben should relax under Vader’s possessive touch, sink back into the man’s arm, open up beneath his lips.

Obi-Wan—-

Obi-Wan shouldn’t do those things, and he shouldn’t want more of them. He shouldn’t melt into Vader’s touch, and he shouldn’t spread his legs for the criminal. The shameful truth is that he does. Oh god, he does.

Three weeks ago, he’d woken up battered and bruised on Anakin Skywalker’s couch, pinned under the gaze of the man himself. The mobster hadn’t even waited four nights before dragging him into his bed. His bruises hadn’t even begun to heal before Vader was pressing his teeth against them, worrying them darker and bigger.

It had started when Vader’s twins had insisted Ben put them to bed. This meant that Obi-Wan was expected to wash their hair and fit them into bed clothes and tuck them away into their opulent beds, all under the heavy gaze of Vader, who leant the long line of his body up against the wall and simply watched.

Luke had demanded a kiss on the forehead. Leia had demanded two. “I—” Obi-Wan had stuttered out, unsure what was expected or what was allowed, so cognizant of the man at his back that his words were lost in his throat. Everyone in Coruscant knew how fiercely protective of his children Vader was. One man, the police department thought, had died for no greater crime than inquiring if Leia had gotten over a bad cold.

And yet, Vader had slipped fluidly from the wall to plaster himself against Obi-Wan’s back, lining up their hands and intertwinining their fingers, his broad palm pressed to the back of Obi-Wan’s hands so that when Vader moved his arm, Obi-Wan’s arm was jerked into motion as well.

“Of course,” Vader’s voice had purred into his ear and his grip tightened in silent command.

“Of course,” Obi-Wan had repeated, and he’d bent forward to press his lips to the crown of Luke’s head and then the crown of Leia’s, Vader behind him the whole time.

“Goodnight,” Vader had coaxed, nose nuzzling up behind Obi-Wan’s ear.

“Goodnight,” Obi-Wan had parrotted, heart rate skyrocketing.

“Goodnight, Ben,” both twins had replied, turning onto their sides and letting their eyes fall shut.

Vader had walked Obi-Wan out of their room and straight into the living room adjacent, pushing him halfway bent over the couch, hands tangled and holding them up on its back. “Where’s my kiss, little mouse?” he’d breathed, taking his teeth to the back of his neck, the lobe of his ear.

And Obi-Wan had raised his head as much as he was able and caught sight of their reflections in the dark windows opposite the couch. He was pinned in place by Vader, an imposing figure that barely seemed human in the image. A hulking monster who had his jaws around Obi-Wan’s throat.

What could he do but give in?

Could the plan change so much as to allow for this—this touching? Ben was supposed to spread his legs for some low-level mob member, not the boss himself. He was supposed to seduce secrets and locations and coordinates from some underpaid crook without firm loyalty to Skywalker.

He wasn’t supposed to find himself beneath Anakin Skywalker himself. There was no way Skywalker would be so stupid or fucked dumb to give him anything. And if he were fucking Skywalker, he was wasting time he could be spending with someone else.

But—would it make him more desirable to have slept with the boss? Surely to some of the mobsters.

Surely…

He’d stared at their reflection in the glass windows, the way he’d been so overpowered by Vader. Held captive.

He’d melted and turned his head to the side and then up so that Vader could kiss him. He’d given in, and Vader had taken him on that couch, grabbing at his hair and forcing his head up whenever he tried to drop it, as if he wanted him to see their reflections, their positions, bear witness to his own ruining.

That was weeks ago, and Obi-Wan has hardly left Skywalker’s apartments since. It’s a strange mix between prison and hospital. No one has specifically told him he is not allowed to leave, but there’s been a man posted at the end of the hallway everytime Obi-Wan ducks his head out of the apartment to look.

Not to mention that a twin comes to find him if he is absent from their eyesight for more than five minutes.

So he’s done nothing for the department since his first night at the strip club. He’s most definitely lost that job, shit.

He can’t even snoop around Anakin’s apartment because everything that might be of use is either written in strange code or kept under lock and key.

In three weeks, he’s been reduced from undercover detective to kept—whore.

But tonight, he’d caught wind of a mob meeting, one requiring all men in Coruscant. Even the man guarding the door at the end of the hallway. So Obi-Wan had put the children to bed earlier than usual and stolen away.

He is Ben Lars, and he’s an ambitious petty criminal who wants access into the Skywalker mob.

Obi-Wan takes two more deep breaths and throws open the double doors leading to the second floor’s private dining room.

Conversation stops immediately upon the interruption. There must be more than fifty mobsters around the room, long tables organized into a rectangular horseshoe with Vader sitting at the head, resplendent in his suit, jacket thrown over the back of his chair and sleevees rolled up over the corded muscle of his arms.

The mob boss sits up straight when he sees Obi-Wan, eyes narrowing as he looks him over.

Obi-Wan raises his head higher, ignoring the way that Vader’s apprentice, Tano, stands, eyes hard and mouth turned down into a sneer.

There is a seat close to the doors, next to an overly muscular man with red knuckles and mean eyes. Obi-Wan moves towards it. If he can just get out of the spotlight, perhaps Anakin will ignore him. He will continue his meeting without—

“No,” Vader says silkily, the word echoing around the quiet space as if he’d roared the word. Obi-Wan freezes, heart in his throat.

He refuses to look at Vader, though he can feel the man’s heavy gaze on his profile. He knows how much power Vader holds over him at this moment, but he refuses to openly acknowledge it. Head held high, he redirects his footsteps to an empty chair beside a slim, blonde woman.

“No,” Vader purrs when he’s close to her, almost there.

Obi-Wan swallows, a burning sensation in his cheeks. He turns sharply. There, across the horseshoe, further up and closer to Vader, is an empty seat next to a hulking man whose body screams violence. He is watching Ben with interest, eyes running up and down his figure. Obi-Wan fights the urge to shiver. This is exactly the sort of mobster he needs, someone violent, someone whose interest stems from Vader’s own.

“No,” Vader says the moment Obi-Wan’s hand falls to the back of the chair next to the man.

This third denial causes something to snap in Obi-Wan, who has never liked this much attention, who wrankles under the constant denials without any guidance of what the denier wants from him.

He yanks his gaze up to glare at Vader, whose smile is cutting and chilling at the same time. The man tips his head to his side. Sometime in the past few minutes, Vader’s right-hand man, Rex, had moved down a chair, opening a seat directly beside the mob boss.

Obi-Wan swallows tightly, humiliation and anger making his chest tight. His hands squeeze into fists and then relax, and Vader cocks his eyebrow with lazy interest as he watches him.

With short, tight steps, Obi-Wan stalks to the front of the horseshoe and hovers with his hands against the chair’s back. He should sit. Everyone’s eyes would fall away from him—or at the very least, the meeting would continue most probably.

But the angry seed planted in his chest will not be ignored. Vader cannot just—order him around. He has no claim to his body. He cannot have this amount of control over Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan cannot allow it.

Rex has fallen into his new chair and angled it to look at Vader. He has not tucked the chair beneath the table, legs instead spreading out as he leans back with his arm around the back of the chair.

Obi-Wan tilts his head to sneer at Vader and drops himself sideways into Rex’s lap.

The man lets out an oomph of surprise, hands falling automatically to Obi-wan’s hips to steady him.

“No,” Vader snarls, eyes cold and hard as they stare at Obi-Wan, Rex, the points that they touch. Before Rex can push him off, Obi-Wan locks his arms around his neck quickly. He nuzzles closer, keeping one eye pinned on Vader.

“Boss,” Rex mutters, body a straight line of tension. His hands have dropped away, to his sides so that the only places they’re touching are the places Obi-Wan is demanding he touch.

“Vader,” Tano cautions, glaring at Obi-Wan with perhaps half the ferocity as her boss. “Let’s—”

But Vader is standing. In one stride, he has crossed the distance between them. His hand curls into Obi-Wan’s hair and wrenches his head back.

The pain, bright and harsh, prompts a startled gasp from Obi-Wan’s lips. Instinctively, his hands fly away from Rex’s neck to grasp at Vader’s hand.

That’s all it takes for Vader to drag him off Rex’s body. He drops to the floor, but Vader doesn’t release the pressure of his touch. It makes Obi-Wan cry out, arch closer, cognizant of the fact that last time he had been this close to the other man, he had wound up fucked stupid himself.

His body is already preparing for the pleasure, the inevitability it has learned to expect after almost a month of the same treatment.

When Vader tugs at his hair, Obi-Wan follows the pull. The mob boss sits back down in his own chair; Obi-Wan moves to stand, understanding that he will not be given a seat at all now. His seat will be Vader’s lap. The man will not allow anything else.

“No,” Vader murmurs, hand twisting into his hair and pressing him down, back to his knees by Vader’s side.

Obi-Wan can hardly breathe. The humiliation sparks through his chest, but he cannot see another option other than to go where Vader has put him.

Inch by inch, he relaxes until his head rests against Vader’s thigh.

“Good boy,” Anakin purrs, just for him, and Obi-Wan is powerless to stop the shiver from rocking up his spine. “Now,” Vader’s fingers stroke through his hair, rubbing at his scalp gently. His voice grows louder as he addresses his men, now that Obi-Wan is once again under his thumb. “Where were we?”

the massive machinery of hope by Killbothtwins (@killbothtwins) - I've read this one SO many times, it has one of my absolute favorite Qui-Gon&Obi-Wan dynamics of all time.

Dead Peanut Gallery by tanarill - IDK what to say about this one other than that it's very fun. Ghostly Obi-Wan pokes Vader into defecting when he finds out Luke is his in Episode V.

Kneading by Threebea O (ThreeBea) (@threebea) - Have you ever wanted a canonverse bakery AU that's actually undercover work and ends with our precious idiots getting kidnapped to Kamino? Because this fic is great. Everyone's got idiot moments, and also Boba is three, and adorable.

R2-D2 Saves the Galaxy (Okay, so Obi-Wan helps a little) by kj_feybarn (@feybarn) - One of my absolute favorite fics. Nothing liked Artoo POV, especially when interspersed with Obi-Wan.

there is no death (there is a wedding) by virdant (@virdant-writing) - one of my early forays into Jangobi, and generally just a very fun approach to things like Petty Legal Battles With Grandpa Who Thinks You Married Wrong.

Encrypted Channel by qigiined (@deniigi) - Do you want OT-era Rexwalker, but infinitely more stupid despite theoretically being too old for this shit? Do you want it in chatfic format? Do you want Vader to be following Rex around (metaphorically) with puppy eyes (less metaphorically) and being upset that Rex doesn't want to get with him after all the many crimes? Yes. You do.

A Star to Steer By by dogmatix, norcumi (@dogmatix, @norcumii) - I have reread this so many times. I'm not even in Stargate fandom, and yet this crossover verse owns me. (Still thinking about how Ventress and Narec and the entire Rattatak situation might have gone down ngl.)

Although He Smiles by AutumnChild22 (HonestlyHelen) (@autumnchild22) - we love a time travel fic that has people redefining the natures of their relationships to one another.

Blue Tooka Guy by Millberry_5 (@the-writing-mill) - This one is just a very fun little feel-good romp.

The Desert Storm and Rise and Fall by Blue_Sunshine (@blue-sunshine-mauve-morning) - Okay I admittedly haven't reread this multiple times, but I have reread parts of it multiple times, if that counts? (The two series together are one and a half million words, so.)

Realign the Stars by CrystalRainsWriting, TerinAngel (@terinangel) - afaik this is discontinued but it's so good and shaped a lot of my early approach to SW time travel fic.

Of Queens, Knights, and Pawns by chancecraz (@chancecraz) - Do you love Leia? Do you love hypercompetent future Leia who's cranky about being nineteen again because nobody takes her seriously? Read this.

Shifting Sands also by chancecraz - still a hypercompetent Leia, but further back and Still Old and also the most recent chapter was 65,000 words.

Don't Look Back by acuteneurosis (@this-acuteneurosis) - another Leia time-travel, this one focusing very heavily on political maneuvering and things like trade routes. We got economics and supply route fic.

Force of Many Sights by DAsObiQuiet - There's something magical about fics that go into such detail about the time and effort that therapy, especially therapy for Darth Vader, takes.

Viridescent Skies by DarthSnug (themikeymonster) (@themikeymonster) - listen I just really love age/role swaps and this is a REALLY good one.

Living in Borrowed Time by smug_albatross (@scribbling-albatross) - Another one of those fics that I'd say really shaped my early approach to characters of this era. The handling of Rex and Ahsoka is magnificent, honestly, and we all know I love a good time travel plot.

Senator Obi-Wan AU by BeanieBaby - incredibly fun. Yes there's Senator Kenobi, but there's also Fox being pursued by two different Jedi (Kit and Quin), a variety of topsy-turvy character interactions that make sense in a funhouse mirror sense (e.g. Obi-Wan preferring blasters to sabers because he didn't grow up with the Jedi), and Anakin repeatedly almost kills Palpatine by accident.

Soft Wars by Project0506 (@thefoundationproject) - no explanation needed. Is cute.

Dominoes by meridianpony (@meridiansdominoes) - we don't need to go over my intense love of time-travel fics again. really.

Sith Lord Swell by AMournfulHowlInTheNight (has a blog but not for fandom stuff) - Luke falls back in time and decides to handle it by pretending to be a Sith Lord. It works (somehow).

Last Series: Obi-Wan Kenobi!!!! 🤩 I really enjoyed it and was SO glad I got multiple chapters of ‘Warrior’ up before it started airing! It’s been such a fun and singular experience to be able to incorporate some elements of the show into the later chapters.

The end result is a galaxy under Emperor Vader’s rule, where Sith Imperial Leia has ascended to become Vader’s apprentice and Sith Imperial Luke is a fleet admiral in the navy while also attempting to rebuild the Sith Order in a new image. Star Wars AU Ideas Masterpost(?)

Okay, I have a lot of ideas about how the Star Wars might be changed around to my interests, often inspired by other artists.

My Three Main AUs

Something Done to Change It: In which Anakin passes out after making his first Major Bad Decision of the Day, thus manages to prevent himself from making the next few Bad Decisions of the day. Vader-ized against his will, yet still soured against his would be allies, the Empire gains a much more dangerous enemy.

(Main AU, based off @radioactivepeasant‘s Doomvader AU, but a massive Legends/Canon fusion starting at A New Hope and encompassing events up a modified Force Awakens/Fate of the Jedi event in 38 ABY).

To clarify, A New Hope begins normally, but begins to spiral rapidly when the twins reunite. Featuring earlier meeting of characters I like, A New Jedi Order that stands firm, and increased attention paid to the Eternals of Mortis.

By the Skin of their Teeth: Ahsoka raises concerns with Yoda, Yoda raises concerns with Mace Windu, Windu offers some reassurance to Anakin, Anakin stuns everyone by making A Good Choice. The Republic and Jedi Order survive by the skin of their teeth, and nineteen years later, the Twins Skywalker find themselves at the forefront of emerging threats new and old.

(Other Main AU, based off nickducoteart from instagram’s A New Darkness AU, where Anakin doesn’t interfere with Windu, but Palpatine escapes. Team SkyWindu manage to alert the Jedi about Order 66, so the lion’s share of the Purge’s damage is averted. Palpatine is thought dead, and certain...revelations leave the galaxy in chaos, and unstable nineteen years later.

Ft Luke-Ahsoka, Leia-Obi Wan, & Mara-Maul apprenticeships, High Republic fashion Leia, Ranger’s Apprentice references, Big Sis Katooni, MaraLuke otp, MaraLeia crush, and MaraEzra brotp.

Fractured Galaxy: Palpatine decides the Queen of Naboo needs to be under his thumb. Padme grows up a rebel, Anakin a Khyber monk, and the first Jedi to kill a Sith in an eon kickstarts a heresy. A third faction emerges in the Clone Wars, in which Palpatine holds no sway.

(Other other Main AU, based off some various ideas I’ve ran cross on this humble site. Padme isn’t elected Queen, rebels against the Trade Federation, and becomes much less willing to play ball with the Republic, two Jedi are accompanied to Naboo by a certain blind monk, who Anakin & Shmi end up following. When the Clone Wars arrive, the Seperatists are much more numerous, but divided between the CIS and the Free Systems Alliance, to whom Obi-Wan and an increasing number of Jedi begin to defect.)

Featuring Padme vs Dooku verbal duels, discussions about the morality surrounding the clones and the Jedi’s place in the military, zen Anakin, Zule Xiss and the Padawan Pack(look them up), and a Palpatine not in control of the situation.

Other AUs

Obi Wan raises the twins as Mandalorians

General situation swap between five post Order 66 potential Jedi (Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Ezra Bridger, Mara Jade, And Galen Marek/Starkiller)

Including situations where Luke and/or Leia are raised by Ahsoka, together in whatever location(Obi Wan, Alderaan, Tatooine, parents, or even Sith), Ezra and Mara as partnered imperial agents, and Galen Marek raised by/apprenticed to Luminara Unduli.

More Jedi survive Order 66/clones are more aware of chips/able to miss shots resist enough to allow more survivors.

Padme survives, but Anakin doesn’t. Possibly featuring Force Wraith Vader created from Anakin’s negative emotions.

Shmi was a Sith once, now a slave. Her hatred has faded, yet the fury remains. She may have once dedicated her life to the Jedi’s destruction, but now they may be each other’s salvation.

Young Jedi Knight Depa Billaba is dispatched to respond to a rebellion (slave uprising) against the Hutts on the world of Tatooine. Things go meiloorun shaped, and Depa finds herself nose to blaster point with the rebellion’s leader, a very force sensitive, very pretty young woman with an even more powerful baby strapped to her back. A Depa/Shmi rarepair fic.

And my funniest, Luke is childhood friends with the Tusken warrior who kicks Boba Fett’s ass, saves him from the others to attack him, and generally just tags along when things get moving.

And after asking Darth Vader about his dad, Luke can't help but say yes to Darth Vader training him. After all, Luke's always wanted to be a Jedi like his father.

Vader is sent to Tatooine by his Master after a series of failures. While there he discovers the existence of Luke. He meets Luke, convinces him to come with him off planet, and manages to hide him away for a while. He knows his Master won't tolerate a powerful force sensitive like Luke running around as a free agent once he's old enough to be a threat, and he also knows exactly how horrible it is to serve Palpatine. He won't let Luke be taken and used like that.

Eventually though, his deception is discovered.

Vader knows he isn't powerful enough to protect Luke on his own, and he isn't ready to overthrow Palpatine yet. He decides the only safe place for Luke is with the Rebel Alliance, the very people who've managed to stay out of his reach so far. So he takes Luke and defects.

Why do you sort Palpatine as a Slytherin Primary? He doesn't seem to have anyone he actually values.

I would argue that he does value Anakin/Vader. Not in a good way. Not in a healthy way. But he does value him.

More than anything, Palpatine wants a powerful apprentice who will never betray him. He’s a Sith lord who did the classic thing and killed his master, but he still wants an apprentice of his own. Maybe he wants a lab assistant, maybe he wants someone else to do his legwork. But I totally get why he’d also want that apprentice to be as powerful as possible. It reflects well on him.

He tries with Maul, in what seems like a pretty classic Sith master/apprentice relationship. Maul is quiet, obedient, maybe not as *powerful* as Palpatine, but super well trained. Still, I get the feeling that Palpatine didn’t *love* the way he turned out. Too risky.

Dooku is interesting, because Dooku is a turned ex-Jedi. And I think Palpatine realized he was on to something. Clearly ex-Jedi are the way to go. First, they come already trained (Palpatine doesn’t seem like the type to enjoy training a beginner). Second, they’re in tune with the Light, which is probably going to make them less likely to do something super evil like... murder their master in cold blood. Third, they’ve got all that lovely doubt and guilt, and you can just play on that forever. You’ve created a situation where in order to live with themself, your apprentice needs you to be correct, needs you to to continue reaffirming the rightness of their actions. They’re not going to kill you if they need you.

(I realize I’m kind of describing the relationship between Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, and wouldn’t THAT be a fun AU.)

But Dooku is adult. He’s independent, he’s established. He’s still too risky. Which is why Palpatine just falls in love with Anakin. Here is a baby who is off-the-charts powerful, and due to a weird chain of events has been placed with a young and inexperienced master. Palpatine could wait a hundred years and never get another opportunity this good. Anakin is perfect.

Watching the prequels, it really feels like turning Anakin becomes Palpatine’s primary goal - but in order to do that, he needs to bring down both the Jedi and the Republic. And it works. By the end of Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine owns Vader, mind and body and soul. I love the creepy detail from the expanded universe that he loaded Vader into a suit of prosthetic armor that was old and uncomfortable and required constant maintenance on purpose. Just another way to control him.

Luke and Leia are one part of Vader that Palpatine can never possess, and he hates it. I think that’s why he’s so willing to swap out Vader for Luke at the end of Return of the Jedi. So yeah, I’d sort Palpatine as a Snake primary. I see the Dark Snake traits of possession and control more than the Dark Lion traits of zealotry and a need for glory. And he’s definitely a Bird secondary. Here’s a man who is not afraid of a really long term, really elaborate plan. And he doesn’t know how to pivot when things don’t go as expected.

- One year everybody lost bets throughout that year so their costumes were chosen by other people. Clarke and Lexa have to be Elsa and Anna (which means they cant kiss all night bc they’ll be dressed as sisters). Lincoln and Octavia are Mario and Princess Peach. Bellamy is a fucking crayon. Echo is Hannah Montana. Raven is a cowgirl. Emori and Murphy are Barbie and Ken. Anya is a ballerina unicorn. Monty and Harper both are wearing T-Rex suits. Jasper is The Beast, and Maya is Belle because she’s the only one who didn’t lose a bet that involved handing over control of her costume.

So i actually wrote something for the Lion!Vader Au lol

uh.. it's just a quick thing i wrote up and its not finished

uh.. yeh

This was not supposed to be happening. Well, a lot of things weren’t supposed to have happened in the past years of Padme’s life.

The Empire, the genocide of the Jedi, the clone wars, the Tusken massacre, the invasion of Naboo, and Anakin-..

A small squadron of rebels had been sent on a mission and thought they’d return to the base successfully. The Empire had tracked them, and been led back to the base.

Luckily, many had been able to escape from the empire’s clutches, Unfortunately, Padme’s ship was not one of the ones that were able to make the jump, and she and the others on board were captured by the starcruiser and brought to the heart of the empire for a sham trial.

The captured, unfortunately (has she mentioned how unfortunate this situation is?), consisted of herself, her son Luke, and her daughter Leia, Obi-wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano aka Fulcrum, and Ex-Clone-Captain Rex.

It was times like this that Padme missed how reassuring Anakin could be.. But she had to keep herself calm and carry on, trusting that they would figure a way out of this.

Before the trial Ahsoka, Luke, and Leia were all pulled aside individually, presumably to try and get them to join the empire or rat the others out for a lighter sentence or avoid a death penalty.

Everyone’s trials went by rather quickly and all resulted in the same sentence. The only wavering in time was for Luke and Leia’s trials to try and, unsuccessfully, find birth certificates for one, and two try them as adults, seeing as they were only 17. They had all been sentenced to execution and filed onto a ship. In other cases, they might have simply had a quiet death in prison somewhere, but it seemed Padme and Obi-wan were seen as too important to go quietly. They were being shipped off to an arena where Palpatine kept his favorite pet project. Pet in the literal sense. The planet used to be called Tee Ree bashatae, or in basic; ‘NOT VERY AGGRESSIVE’. The planet's occupants used to joyfully shout it whenever they were to talk about it, now all that was left was the arena and some villages meant to support the arena. The planet's new name is bahana see luobeokay, or Arena of Gladiators. The arena was typically meant for executing higher-up Rebels, or lower rebels stored away for ‘celebrations’ on empire day.

TFW when you try to do Anastasia but you also suck at your job: A Master Class by The Rise of Skywalker

Okay. So, I promised you guys a TROS review, and it’s coming, I promise… except I’ll be making two “spin-off posts” about specific issues just in order to clear up some stuff, mainly because in my mind, those issues are important.

First post is going to be, of course, about Rey’s parentage.

So. After TFA, it would have been possible for Rey to have been the kid of “someone”. However, TLJ made it impossible to do so, unless you’d have some serious, bullshit retconning going on – which is exactly what happened.

I know this is a VERY controversial thing to say at this point, but post-TFA, Rey Palpatine “could” have been possible. Okay, maybe not have her be Palpatine’s granddaughter, but more of a descendant of his.

This said, I “tried” making an origin story for Rey Palpatine that “works” for the purposes of this meta, on a hypothetical basis, while making it consistent with canon (something JJ Abrams and Chris Terrio clearly couldn’t be bothered to do, LMAO). I had plotholes no matter what. I do think I could have eventually found something with a little bit of brainstorming, but truth is, IT’S HARD, and a lot of exposition would have been for novels/comics only.

From a thematic perspective, though? It wouldn’t have been a bad idea. For this to work, though, you would have needed to go on full-blown Romeo and Juliet mode with sprinkles of Anastasia, though. I mean, The Lion King 2 did something similar, so why the fuck not. Because, yeah, Ben Solo, the grandson of Darth Vader, son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, the last prince of Alderaan, who falls in love with the last Imperial princess Rey Palpatine while they’re on opposite sides of the war but not the ones you’d think of is the stuff of fairy tales and star-crossed romances, except this one would have a happy ending and brought peace to the galaxy.

Truth be told, I still really enjoy fanfics who go for that story and find a way to make it work in canonverse or in AUs – because it’s genuinely fun. But in canon itself, as I point out earlier… it’s not easy.

So, we have Rian Johnson who said he made a list of potential origins for Rey while he was working on TLJ’s script. You bet Rey Palpatine was on that list. However, he came to the conclusion that Rey Nobody was the best way to go, and whatdyaknow, he made the right call.

Why? Rey Nobody requires minimal exposition. Storytelling-wise, you don’t have a lot of brainstorming to do, and it’s easy to have Ben revealing it, and easy to present it as a repressed memory of Rey’s. On a thematic level, that puts Rey on the same level as Jane Eyre or the main character from Rebecca: she’s a nobody from nowhere who is thrown into a family drama, and since she’s the glitch in the matrix, she must stop the story from becoming a tragedy.

See? Simple. You got your easy exposition, you got your thematic coherence, and you got the literary call-backs.

So, JJ and Terrio decided to retcon this shit because, as they said, they thought it was boring. I think Colin Trevorrow probably thought it was boring too, because I have my reasons to think a lot of TROS is from him (but more on that in my main review). But thing is, it’s not it’s “boring”, it’s literally that they didn’t know what the fuck to do with Rey. No, more than that, they don’t understand her, and frankly, they can’t be bothered to do so. She’s an empty vessel they can toy with at their ease, and in the process, turn her in a Mary-Sue. Because yes, TROS!Rey was a Mary-Sue, whereas TFA/TLJ!Rey was not. So, what I say above regarding Rey might be a bomb for some, considering how people are (understandably) defensive when it comes to that statement. I promise I will elaborate more about it in the main review, once again.

So, with the lineage aspect addressed, it’s time to talk about Rey’s parents themselves.

It’s hilarious how HARD JJ and Terrio tried to make Kylo’s explanation work – because as much as they butchered the shit out of him, they said: “Well he’s a bad liar, right? Gotta keep that in mind.”

Although, I don’t think it was a case of them being concerned with Kylo’s characterization – they’re not that graceful. They had to figure out QUICK why the hell Kylo wouldn’t have known Rey was a Palpatine from the get-go, because the Force is a great DNA test and shit, and I guess that’s how Palps located Ben’s Mighty Skywalker Blood™. Except that still doesn’t work because Palps couldn’t even locate his own goddamn granddaughter, but I digress.

Seriously, why would Kylo lie to Rey about her being a nobody instead of her being a Palpatine? It makes no sense, because if you’re going to roll with the theory Kylo just wants UNLIMITED POWAH, the Palpatine princess is not only a great asset (since marrying her legitimizes your claim to the throne in the eyes of the Imperial Remnants, I mean, that’s literally why Henry VII married Elizabeth of York), it’s also the one argument she needs to hear in order to sway her to your side. So I guess JJ and Terrio’s one shared brain cell kinda flicked a bit at that moment.

This said, getting the Palpatine princess on his side is clearly Kylo’s intention in TROS (which, again, makes no sense with what was set up in TLJ but that’s something I’m keeping for another post), except they trip all over themselves by having Kylo say he didn’t lie to Rey in TLJ. Except…

So, what Ben said in TLJ was the following:

Her parents sold her for drinking money.

They’re dead and buried in a pauper’s grave somewhere on Jakku.

Rey is related to no one.

Here’s what Ben reveals to Rey in TROS:

Her parents sold her for her protection.

They died on another planet, while being hunted down by a guy working for Palpatine and instructed to bring Rey back to them.

Rey’s dad is a Palpatine and Rey’s mom is Villanelle (nah, for real: the actress who plays Rey’s mom is Jodie Comer).

So, um, yeah, it’s the EXACT opposite of what Ben said in TLJ. Just say Palps was fucking with Ben’s mind-reading or Rey’s memories instead, JJ. Not that “Oh Ben was telling the truth, but he didn’t have the whole story”, because that’s not it.

For the latter, once again, it would have been feasible: the one thing, for me, that was possible to be added was that Rey had killed her parents accidentally, by having their ship to leave Jakku crash down with the Force: that’s what made her Force powers go dormant for all those years and provoked her trauma. It would also make sense that Ben would willfully not bring that back to her memories, because she’d understandably not be able to cope with the truth, which is often what happens to a lot of trauma victims. THAT was the theory I had pre-TROS, because that’s the only answer I could come up with when it came to JJ saying that there was more to Rey’s past. I guess I expected JJ to be, like, actually able to write, lmao.

I even wonder if that was actually in the cards, considering we see Rey in TROS bringing down a transport that supposedly has Chewie in it… but I guess they deemed that to be “too dark” for their heroine. Except the bullshit that comes instead is actually… much worse.

To make things simple, I’ll just take the above points and develop them.

Rey’s parents sold her for her protection.

Okay, so, Rey’s parents need to hide her to make sure Palps doesn’t get his hands on her. Fair enough. This said, why did it have to be Jakku and not, like, ANYWHERE ELSE? Especially that Palpatine had interest in Jakku at some point and that maybe having Rey anywhere close to that place would not be a good idea?

But let’s play the game and say that Jakku is the only place they can hide her because… I don’t know, it’s hard to find someone there with the Force. Whatever. Even then, why the fuck would they think Unkar Plutt is a proper guardian for a tiny little girl? You know they could have walked a few miles more and found a nice old man who likes the Light Side of the Force and the Jedi and all that shit called Lor San Tekka? Hey, why not even try to find a guy like Luke Skywalker who’s like, a Jedi and shit, and have him take care of their little girl and protect her?

Even then, why the hell doesn’t Rey’s mom stay with her daughter? Her husband is the Palpatine, not her. All Rey’s mom has to do is find a nicer hiding place for her and Rey somewhere on Jakku, like, not Niima Outpost (again, Tuanul is just a few miles away), and just let Dad hide somewhere else. He’s a grownass man, he can take care of himself and he just has to hide on Nar Shaadaa or some shit. Fuck, why don’t all three of them hide on Nar Shaadaa? Or in the Coruscant undercity? ANYWHERE ELSE?

Also, wouldn’t Plutt clearly see two desperate parents as a business opportunity? Like, if you want to do a Les Misérables comparison here, he wouldn’t “buy” Rey from them, he’d try to get money for them à la Thénardier with Fantine. Except Rey’s parents make Fantine look like frigging Einstein because at least she had the excuse of thinking Madame Thénardier would take good care of Cosette since Éponine and Azelma seemed well-cared for.

Again, a creepy-looking alien who exploits the outpost’s inhabitants for portions in exchange for junk, who asks you to pay him to take care of your kid should be a big fucking red flag – unless you want to involve blackmail, but that’s a whole other can of worms.

Seriously, why the hell would Rey’s parents even ACCEPT money that comes from selling their own child? Were they really that desperate? Fuck, even if I had no other way of getting off Jakku, I wouldn’t even THINK of using money that comes from selling my own child. Any parent who’d even CONSIDER doing that is automatically a godawful parent in my book. Shame on you. And shame on JJ for trying to make me buy them as saints, because THEY’RE NOT, JUST BY THAT SINGLE ACTION.

I didn’t notice it until Jenny Nicholson pointed it out in her TROS review, because it SOMEHOW completely escaped my notice, but… Rey’s mom saying Rey is DEFINITELY NOT on Jakku is like the worst fucking lie I’ve ever seen in a film because it’s so hilariously bad. Congratulations, Space Villanelle, may you be forever remembered for this line.

Also, it’s stupid af that Oshi (that’s his name, right? Can’t be bothered to Google it, might just call him Barney the Bounty Hunter from now on) just kills Rey’s parents, because HE’S EVUL MUAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA, because he literally creates a dead end for himself. He still has no fucking clue where Rey is, and he just killed off his only leads. CONGRATULATIONS BARNEY THE BOUNTY HUNTER, YOU SUCK AT YOUR JOB.

Rey’s dad is a Palpatine and Rey’s mom is Villanelle.

So, Rey’s dad looks like he’s in his early thirties at most, right? Maybe a little younger than Luke and Leia, then. So, unless he got frozen in carbonite at some point, that means Palpatine fucked at some point while looking like this:

Anyway, I sure hope Sly Moore was Grandma Palpatine because she’s pretty much the only person who’d be game to smash raisin ass. Which leaves me with extremely disturbing pictures of Palps and Sly having sex, so I’ll spare you the more graphic details of my twisted mind that’s screaming for an end to this misery.

I sure hope having Rey’s mom as Jodie Comer isn’t a clue that we’ll get spin-offs with those two (GOD PLEASE NO), but while I crack jokes about how Rey’s mom is Villanelle and Palpadad kinda looks like Ramsay Bolton… I find it fucking hilarious they dressed Rey’s mom in BLUE. LIKE, SEE? SEE? SHE’S IN BLUE, LIKE THE VIRGIN MARY, BECAUSE REY IS SPACE JESUS!!!! GET IT??? GETIT???? PLEASE TELL ME YA GET IT, OKAY???? *gross sobbing* I knew we should have had Rey born in a manger, that would have made the artistic intentions clear *wipes tear*

All right. There’s a lot more that could be said about Rey’s lineage, but I’m keeping that for my main review because what’s left to say ties up to the bigger picture. What I tried to point out with this preliminary post is that while Rey Palpatine *could* have worked, in different circumstances, it couldn’t have had post-TLJ… and we’re left to see a mutilated horse who was dead on arrival. And that’s tragic.

This drove me up the wall.

Okay, if I could be a part of any story, which story would I want to tag along in?

Well, it all depends.

Are we talking unadulterated canon stories, or fanfic—but then again, those things are not mutually exclusive.

So, here are the unadulterated canon stories I would love to be in, either to change outcomes myself, or to just enjoy the ride.

1. The Rise of Skywalker. I can save Ben and Armitage. I know I can. I’m a Slytherclaw. I can manage that.

2. Revenge of the Sith. I’m sure I can find a subtle way to convince Anakin that no, Padmè is not going to die in childbirth, yes, Palpatine is totally skeevy, and no, Obi-Wan’s not going to kill you for having a wife. He might be momentarily shocked and maybe a little bit upset, but he’s not going to kill you.

3. Harry Potter. You can bet your bottom dollar that I’d be right there, trying to convince Draco Malfoy to defect, and that I’d be right there at the Shrieking Shack/Boathouse with a bezoar to shove down Severus Snape’s throat, and a wand to intone Vulnera Sanentur three times. (Yes, I like Snape and Malfoy, I’m sorry, sue me, tumblr)

4. Lord of the Rings, but in particular, The Return of the King.

5. It’s not even been released yet, but Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, because Anson Mount’s Captain Pike was awesome, and so were Ethan Peck as Spock, and Rebecca Romijn as Number One, and this show’s definitely going to be awesome.

6. Again, another thing that hasn’t even been released yet, but The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. These two have some of the biggest dumbass energy I’ve ever seen, and I just want to eat popcorn while following Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.

7. Basically all of the Star Trek Alternate Original Series, but in particular, Star Trek: Into Darkness. If I can’t save the original timeline’s Captain Pike, because his fate is one that is unavoidable, you’re definitely going to find me pulling the the Kelvin Timeline’s Admiral Pike out of the way of that phaser blast. Jim Kirk lost one father, he doesn’t need to lose another.

8. 1995 Sense and Sensibility. Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon. Enough said.

9. Pride and Prejudice. Again, enough said.

10. Game of Thrones. While I believe that Jaime Lannister went back to King’s Landing to save his sister, not his lover, (since that’s the only way I can wrap my head around that) I’d only be there to set a trap on the Kingsroad, knock his ass out cold, and drag him back to Winterfell.

Now, regarding fanfiction, that’s more difficult. But here are the fanfics I’d like to tag along in, in no particular order, because these are all amazing works. I’m naming non-pairing centric fics, because if I did, this list would be literal miles long, even longer than it already is.

1. When Darkness Seems to Hide This Place by IllyanaA. This fifty chapter epic is a wild ride, but this story kept me so entertained, I barely noticed the chapter count.

2. The whole Lord Vader’s Limpet Saga by frodogenic. This entire AU is just an amazing combo of laughs, feels, and drama. One of my favorite tropes is Admiral Piett is Done With Life, and the story in this AU, Meet the Skywalkers, which chronologically, is the first story in this wonderful AU, is from his point of view, and boy, let me tell you, it really, really delivered with Admiral Piett is Done With Life. I cannot recommend this whole AU more.

3. You Shall Become (Me) by Jedipati. This story was great, and the premise is all too plausible.

4. The Sanctuary AU by Sheankelor. As a Catholic, I loved this story; it was very well-written and the details were dead on, especially when you consider the author does not seem to be Catholic nor Christian.

5. A Riddled Universe by hazeldragon. I love the idea that there’s a universe where Tom Riddle is a good guy.

6. The Thrice Defied Series by Rae Kelly. This was so good, I ate this whole series up in two days.

7. The On The Flip Side series by MusicMelis. This. I am such a sucker for mentor!Severus & Harry fics, and these are good ones.

8. A Second Chance by keyphoenix. See the above.

9. Anakin and the Darkness Within by SsgtC. This is really, really good, with drama, laughs, and details I never thought I needed.

10. Legend of the Lost by Rosaria Marie. I was kinda torn about putting this, because I always cry whenever I read this, but it’s too good not to include.

11. Bonus: A Wolf Amongst Lions by @kallypsowrites . The pairing here is very unusual, (don’t worry, it happens after Arya’s of age) in that it is Arya/Jaime, and at first I wasn’t sold on that, but the story isn’t really centric on that pairing, its main focus is its Arya & Tywin dynamic, which is what really sucked me in, and along the way, to my not-unpleasant surprise, I found myself not minding the Jaime/Arya. I was blown away by how amazingly this story was written, that I faithfully followed whenever the author would upload a chapter. Honestly, it was a highlight of my Thursday, that’s how much liked this fic.

“I have the honor of informing you that Lord Vader, second hand to the Emperor, is on his way to speak with you right now.” Piett looked down at his datapad, “He is quite angry, if I might add.”

“I don’t recall a time when the man wasn’t mad,” Tarkin scoffed, Piett was quite baffled at how vocal he was for his dislike of Vader. He couldn’t recall any other person that would speak so lowly of him.

Inquisitor!Kanan AU Pt. 1

Alright, this is going to sound stupid, but I’ve skimmed through a few fics where Kanan is an Inquisitor but is either a reluctant recruit or immediately becomes conflicted when he meets Ezra, his space son.

That didn’t make sense to me. An Inquisitor was a Jedi that fell to the Dark Side. And those who fall typically do so in a sense of “the road to Hell is paved with good intentions” at times or because they are disillusioned like Bariss was in the Clone Wars. In the event that Kanan ever turned to the Dark Side, I believe it would be for good intentions or because of his earlier characteristics as a Padawan (i.e. curiosity). It could be justified as Kanan was fourteen when Order 66 happened, but what if his master fell to the Dark Side prior to this right around the time she took him on as a student? Cue him becoming the Anakin to her Palpatine, except Depa genuinely cares about her student (ironic).

In this au, Depa Billiba had begun to lose faith in the Jedi Order right as she meets Caleb and she sees him as a kindred sou, especially after she learns more about the boy. One who is questioning the way of the Jedi in ways that the Council is very uncomfortable dealing with. Naturally, this feeling of isolation leads to Caleb trusting Billiba, especially when she states that the Jedi are afraid of people like him.

“But why?” Caleb asked, his brow furrowed in confusion.

“Because, my Padawan,” Depa smiled, “the most dangerous weapon one can have is a weapon that can think for itself.”

Caleb, having never known his parents, having been considered an outcast by his peers, puts his faith in the first person to openly express faith in him and encourages his curiosity. Thus begins the decent of Master and Padawan to the Dark Side. Depa, who was drawn towards it due to her disillusionment of the Jedi and Caleb, who’s hunger for knowledge of all kinds would become insatiable as his understanding of the Dark Side grew.

When the Jedi Purge occurs, Caleb and Depa are spared from the slaughter, having deserted their Clone comrades and killing those who have attempted to take their lives. They go into hiding, taking work as bounty hunters or stealing whatever they can. Usually, it would be Jedi archives or artifacts that the Council wouldn’t have wanted falling into the wrong hands.

It doesn’t take long for them to be put under the Emperor’s radar and he orders them to be hunted down to join him as his assassins or die. Naturally, Depa and Caleb agree to serve as Inquisitors, out of pragmatism and because they felt flattered that their abilities were acknowledged by the Emperor himself.

Depa and Caleb stand out among the Inquisitors, being the only Former Jedi to be a part of the Master/Apprentice dynamic before the Republic fell. Caleb stands out due to being the youngest, but somehow just as brutal as the rest of their comrades as the First Sister and First Brother. The First Sister and First Brother quickly become a dreaded duo, due to their strong bond to one another and meshing together fighting styles of Light and Dark. After all, the First Brother considers “know thy enemy” to be the greatest teacher (after Depa, of course).

As the Empire looms over the galaxy, the Emperor soon realizes what a great threat the duo would become if they continued without challenge. Never mind the fact that overthrowing the Emperor never crossed either minds of the First Brother and Sister. They are content with knowledge for knowledge’s sake, freedom to act as they please, and with staying as a team. The Seventh Sister made the mistake of suggesting the First Brother was being groomed to be the First Sister’s boy toy. Her screams still echo to this day in the old buildings of Coruscant.

Through Vader, the Emperor sets up an “accident” to occur on one of the duo’s missions together. Caleb survives at the cost of his beloved mentor, who’s last words to him were “Run!” When he learns that the First Brother survived, the Emperor placed blame on Vader (true from a certain point of view) and redirects anger at his apprentice. It is a clever plan that he knew would lead to the First Brother either killing Vader and taking over as the Emperor’s apprentice or Vader dealing with a potential rival a move is made against him. Caleb knows this himself and he goes through a drastic change in personality.

His thirst for knowledge, unbeknownst to the Emperor, would lead to him desperately searching for hidden knowledge of the Force, such as saving the ones he loves most from certain death. At the same time, he becomes ruthless as an Inquisitor, isolating himself from others and seeking comfort in pleasures of the flesh and drink when the memory of his beloved mentor burns too painfully in his mind to function.

Jump to “Spark of Rebellion” time and without meeting Kanan, the chances of Hera meeting the rest of Ghost seem impossible now, right? Wrong! The Force works in mysterious ways, after all, and while she doesn’t find her crew through one person, she still manages to find the like of Ezra by herself on Lothal.

Ezra is still the same kid from canon: trusting no one, hard to think about others, a thief. And he managed to steal Hera’s heart when he tries to run off with her ship. Chopper stops him and a deal is made: work as her employee and Hera would forget about the kid trying to steal her baby. She also promises actual payment which manages to keep Ezra invested and maybe allows him to open up to her.

And through Ezra, they still manage to find Zeb and Sabine. Ezra has a brief crush on Sabine that evolves into a platonic friendship. Sabine still views the Ghost crew as a family. Zeb still smells. Chopper is Chopper. Hera is suddenly like a single mom with the distant uncle that suddenly decides to help her raise the kids.

Without a second actual adult - no, Zeb, you may be the oldest but you are at the same mental age as Ezra sometimes - Hera is probably more stressed than usual. She loves her crew to death, but it can be a bit much sometimes without a second hand to help.

But they are still the same force - no pun intended - to be reckoned with and get under the radars of both the Empire and Rebel alliance.

Ezra doesn’t know about his Force abilities for a while, not even when they are executing a rescue mission to extract an old Jedi Master named Luminara. It’s trickier without Kanan to do the mind trick on Stormtroopers, but Sabine and Zeb manage to distract the two guards in the end while Ezra sneaks in.

The first thing he notices is how weak and frail this “Luminara” lady is. The second is how he seems to feel her presence in his very bones, like an old memory. The third is another presence, a colder one that makes him shiver.

Enter the First Brother. The years since he’s turned have changed him drastically. He wears the Inquisitor uniform, with a black cape. His skin tone is pale as snow, like he hasn’t seen the sun in years. His hair is long and not held down by a ponytail (imagine it a bit like a lion’s mane) and his yellow eyes. piercing and seeming to see through Ezra.

He’s expecting a Jedi risking discovery to rescue the body of Luminara, someone who would hopefully give him a decent challenge. He’s not expecting a teenage boy who is clearly not a Jedi and clearly has never seen what a lightsaber looks like when the First Brother pulls one out.

Ezra in canon was aware of the Force existing and had been pleading with his mentor to actually teach him. Here, he’s thrown into a massive loop and straight up terrified of this new enemy who clearly wasn’t a Stormtrooper. His typical maneuvering doesn’t work when the First Brother is able to pin him down without making physical contact. To Caleb, this is just him barely using Force Stasis. To Ezra, it’s like he’s walked into a nightmare.

Ezra, now frozen both literal and in fear, has a new enemy blocking his only exit and no way to warn his team about the danger they’re in.

“How did you know Luminara?” The First Brother asked.

Ezra doesn’t respond, he isn’t sure his mouth can work and his mind is numb.

“You can still talk if you want to, kid,” the man added in a surprisingly gentle voice.

Somehow, Ezra finds his courage, “I don’t know her. I was trying to rescue her.”

“Why?”

“Because she’s a prisoner of the Empire,” Ezra tries and fails to snarl defiantly at the man, “She doesn’t deserve to be treated like this.”

“You’re partially right,” the First Brother admitted, “She didn’t deserve the fate she got. But the Empire needed a honey pot to draw in the flies.”

“D-didn’t...?”

“Luminara is dead, been that way for a long time.” Out of the corner of Ezra’s eye, he notices the pale Mirialan’s body fading away like dust in the wind. His heart stills.

After a tense moment, Ezra collapses to the ground, having been freed.

“I don’t take pleasure in snuffing younglings,” the First Brother said dismissively. “Take your friends and leave this place.”

Ezra doesn’t even bother asking how the hell he knew Ezra didn’t come alone and simply runs out of the cell. He finds Sabine and Zeb and they all flee in one piece. He doesn’t speak for the rest of the day, too shaken from his experience with the new enemy to do anything.

He has no experience with the Force. He understands he is different, but not why. And he certainly doesn’t expect to see that man again after today.

Meanwhile, the First Brother, for the first time in years, feels something close to excitement. Someone who could use the Force, someone who clearly didn’t know about the Force until just then, someone that was on the side of the rebels.

He sincerely hoped his master was looking down on him in the afterlife, because he was going to become that kid’s new teacher whether the kid wanted him or not.

(1/2) I saw the new Lion King yesterday, in English with subtitles. I never saw the original version in English and never checked who the original voice actors were. And so yesterday I spent the entire film wondering if I was finally going crazy and seeing Star Wars everywhere because Mufasa sounded to me exactly like Darth Vader, only this AU fanfiction positive version of him when he has turned away from the Dark Side and is trying to do good things,

(2/2) , mostly because he got to know Luke way earlier. And some of his lines sounded (not the actual words but the overall impression/feeling I got) like I imagine Anakin talking to Luke post-Bespin in DAV. And when I found out that it actually WAS James Earl Jones who voiced Mufasa, well… Now I know how DAV Anakin sounds and feels like :D Sorry for the overlong ramble, I hope you don’t mind :)

I definitely don’t mind, anon!

Honestly the way Mufasa talks to Simba, the feel of it and the timbre of his voice and the kind of...understated gentleness of it...yeah, I can see DAV Anakin talking like that with both Luke and Leia.

But you know who it’s actually easiest to imagine it with? Young Mara. This is how “Nobody” sounds when he speaks with her. And I don’t think Anakin’s doing it in any way intentionally, but really, it’s kind of the ultimate Dad Voice.

Modern AU where the Dragon Rider gang are at Disneyland Paris

(Yes I’m writing this because I’m at Disneyland Paris)

The first day in the park, just after they’ve gotten off the Eurostar, everyone immediately wants to do different things. In the end, Hiccup decides they’ll tackle the smaller park first since it’s already 3pm.

It’s ultimately decided that it’s NOT a good idea to split up - there are lots of people and Hiccup doesn’t want to lose anyone...especially not the twins, who already look like they want to start mischief.

Most of the gang want to go on the big rides, with Snotlout bragging that he’s not afraid of any of them. However, the minute he’s in place for the Rock’n’Rollercoaster, he starts to panic. Everyone else is whooping and cheering - Snotlout feels slightly sick.

Astrid is a definite thrill seeker and goes on every single ride. She smiles and laughs when Hiccup panics and asks her to hold his hand on some of them, but she does it anyway.

Hiccup and Astrid sit on most of the rides together, as do the twins. Fishlegs isn’t a fan of the big rides so he offers to stay with their stuff and wait - though Hiccup and Astrid make him try some of the less intense ones anyway. He has more fun than he thought he would.

They all invest in Disney hats/headwear, of course. Ruffnut and Tuffnut find the most bizarre, crazy Mickey ears they can find, plus the massive white Mickey and Minnie gloves. Snotlout opts for the Mickey Sorcerer Hat. Fishlegs gets a plain pair of Mickey ears, gushing with excitement. Astrid wears a pair of “unlock the fun” Minnie ears; Hiccup wears a Disneyland Paris baseball cap, not wanting to be extravagant. Astrid rolls her eyes and later convinces him to also buy a pair of Mickey ears so that they match in photos.

They explore the main park on the second day, and theyre all in awe of the castle (though Snotlout pretends he’s not)

They head to Frontierland first, going on the Thunder Mountain ride. They all enjoy it, and the twins spend ten minutes laughing at everyone’s photos afterwards.

Snotlout makes a fuss about being paired with Fishlegs on some of the rides where it’s two per row at first, but secretly he’s glad not to be on his own since he ends up getting dizzy or terrified on some of them.

Hiccup’s metal leg causes some issues with some of the rides because the staff are concerned it counts as a loose article and might fall off. He assures them that it’s securely attached to his leg, rather hurriedly when Astrid looks like she’s going to get mad at the staff.

Much to his chagrin, Hiccup also has to take his leg off every time they go through security to get into the parks; it sets off the metal detectors, so he has to take it off and hop through uneasily. The first time, Astrid tries to help him but the security told her off because only one person can go through it at a time.

They later find out that there’s an entrance for disabled guests, though Hiccup doesn’t like to think of himself as disabled. All of the others repeatedly tell him to just use it so he can avoid being caught out by the metal detector.

The twins are the ones who bring up meet and greets, which Fishlegs agrees with enthusiastically. Hiccup tells everyone that they all pick at least one character - that way, everyone gets to choose what they like/want. Everyone poses with each character.

Tuffnut wants to meet Peter Pan, and everyone is bemused when Tuff and Peter spend five minutes making “cock a doodle doo!” noises together. Ruffnut chooses Chip and Dale for obvious reasons; everyone laughs afterwards, voting which Thorston is Chip and which is Dale. Fishlegs votes to meet Mickey, saying that you can’t beat a classic. Snotlout complains at first that it’s for kids - but then he sees that Darth Vader does a meet and greet, and he gets excited. Astrid chooses to meet Woody and Jessie at their greet, and even though the characters can’t talk, she still beams happily when Jessie gestures to her braid in admiration. Hiccup struggles to choose at first, not sure if there’s actually a character he’d like to meet - he’s just happy that his friends and girlfriend are having the time of their lives. They’re walking to Discoveryland when they see Stitch do impromptu meets - and he goes for it. They all enjoy every meet and greet they go to, even Snotlout.

For some reason, Hiccup finds himself quite taken with Stitch - somehow, he reminds him of his dog Toothless (yes this is a reference to how HTTYD and Lilo + Stitch were created by the same people). Astrid fondly teases him for buying a small Stitch plush later during the holiday, but then kisses his cheek and buys the matching Angel one. (The others tease them both until Astrid glares at them threateningly)

They all end up with toys despite the fact they’re not little kids. Hiccup obviously has his little Stitch to keep him company; Astrid has the matching purple-pink Angel one as well as a tiny version of the Cheshire Cat. Fishlegs geeks out over the Star Wars merchandise, buying himself a plush Yoda. Snotlout buys himself a mini Sorcerer Mickey to match his hat. The twins buy Chip and Dale, of course, and then splash out on other toys; Tuff gets a Mickey, Donald, and an €80 Simba that he can hardly carry, whilst Ruff gets herself a Minnie, Daisy and Little Green Alien from Toy Story.

Astrid manages to talk the whole gang into going on the Hyperspace Mountain ride. By the end of it, nearly all of them are crying. Snotlout has nearly crapped himself, Fishlegs is shaking as he clambers off the ride, the twins are speechless. Hiccup stands, swerves, and has to have Astrid help him off because his legs feel too weak to function. He nearly gags, his stomach turning uncomfortably and his lunch rising back up. Astrid is the only one wanting to do it again.

“Come on, it’s fun, babe!” “Astrid...I love you but I am NOT doing that again! I like my breakfast being inside me, thank you very much!”

In the gift shop after the Star Tours attraction, Hiccup and Fishlegs both geek out over Star Wars merchandise whilst everyone else looks a bit baffled and amused.

The first day in the main park, they don’t realize that there’s a parade and miss it completely. The second day, they end up at the back very far away and unable to see much other than the top of the floats. Finally, Astrid orders everyone to sit their asses on the curb a whole hour before the parade and they wait in the heat for it to start. Most of them are glad just to sit down since there’s been a lot of walking, waiting and standing around. Hiccup accidentally freaks a few kids out when he takes off his leg to massage his sore stump.

They watch the Disney Illuminations on their last night - having learnt from the parade debacle, they have dinner and end up waiting in a good spot for three hours for the show to start. It pays off when they’re all left in awe. Everyone whoops and cheers at the Pirates, Lion King and Star Wars sequences especially, “ooh”ing and “aww” ing at the fireworks and lasers.

As the show draws to a close, Hiccup puts an arm around Astrid, and she lays a head on his shoulder. Neither of them say anything, they just enjoy the moment whilst it lasts.

Leaving the park immediately after the Illuminations, however, is not so fun. Thousands of people trying to rush for buses, pushing and shoving each other...it’s sheer luck that none of them lose each other in the crowds. Someone’s foot accidentally catches Hiccup’s prosthetic and he nearly falls flat on his face, much to his embarrassment.

Snotlout and twins end up with serious sunburn from not wearing sun cream. In the end, Astrid forces them to do it before they leave the hotel each morning.

They all go on the Twilight tower of terror - Astrid, Hiccup and Fishlegs are in the front three seats on the left, Snotlout and the twins on the right three front seats. All of them whoop and scream at the drop, nearly flying out of their seats. Hiccup enjoys it because for a second, as they’re falling, he feels alive and like he actually is flying.

They’re all really sad to leave, and agree that they have to come again at some point in the near future - together, of course, because half of the fun is down to the people you’re with.

Trying to get through customs/security on the way home with a Simba plush as tall as he is causes Tuff a slight problem - it’s too big to fit on the baggage conveyor belt, so they have to scan it with the wands and have him carry it through separately.

Astrid sets off the metal detector at security because she’s been pin collecting/trading, using a Peter Pan lanyard. She has about 20 different pins on her.

Hiccup is so exhausted that he falls asleep on the train, head against the window as he snores softly. Astrid, who is next to him, smiles and simply brushes the hair from his face fondly. He deserves a rest after making sure all of them had the best holiday, she decides - the reason it’s been so successful is mostly down to Hiccup keeping them all organized and planning the day ahead during breakfast. Their holiday could have sucked hard (definitely would have sucked for Astrid) if not for Hiccup keeping the group safe the whole time)
