When you observe a group of people alternate between bigotry and performative moral outrage and still choose to amplify their tantrums by engaging with their words you are allowing yourself to get taken for a ride.

There is nothing bad faith actors crave more than attention. You are giving them exactly that. That's why they always get loud whenever there is positivity and happiness in our tags. They need to redirect the conversation towards something negative to try and take control of the narrative.

You want to enjoy fandom experience? Then enjoy it. Stop filling the tags with acknowledgement of whatever dumb shit du jour that is going on on another social media platform. Stop turning every meta post into a response to bad faith takes you see. People here act like laywers whose client is about to get a death penalty unless they scramble and come up with a perfect speech that will make the judge cry.

Everyone with at least one brain cell knows that rabid shippers are full of shit. Everyone can see through them. You don't need to waste your energy on building pedestals for them, spend it on amplifying your voice and your opinions.

Go on for a few days ignoring everything the usual crowd says or does, enjoy yourselves and see what will happen. I promise you, it will be unbearable to them.

Having been in this fandom for a long time, I think what's become apparent--and I think that's where most of our problems stem from--is that PERSONAL INTERPRETATION has become the default thing to fall back onto, and consequently, it's been used over and over again to negate or disregard the author's INTENT, because it doesn't align with personal preference. Consequently, people began being duped into believing that a reader's personal interpretation of text is 'right' and that canon doesn't matter and that SJM's own intention don't matter as well.

Here are some examples:

Did SJM INTENDED for Cassian to be a terrible mate who will sell Nesta for a chicken nugget if Rhys tells him to? Was the intent to show how poor Nessian pairing is?

OR

Is it just that Cassian did not live up to the readers' own expectations of what they wanted for Nesta? And is their interpretation of Cassian as an awful match for Nesta, who doesn't care about her, only cares about sex, and would never stand up for her or support her, actually correct?

Did SJM INTENDED for Gwyn's scenes in ACOSF to be romantic towards Azriel? Was her cutting the ribbon or climbing or running a prelude to the great Gwynriel romance novel?

OR

Is it that Gwyn was created to be a springboard for Nesta's self-discovery and healing? Someone who accepted, supported and encouraged Nesta when Nesta was at her lowest? And did many readers' animosity towards Elain's characters drove them to willfully interpret absolutely non-romantic scenes as romantic in a futile hope that somehow, their personal wants would translate to page?

Did SJM intended for Rhys and Feyre to be viewed as ignorant despots who hate their own people, only care about wealth and power, and don't give a damn about anyone but themselves and their five houses?

OR

Is Rhys's love for Feyre the driving force behind many of his decisions? for example giving her an extravagant house? Does Rhys really want to trample on everyone's rights, or is he allowing some of his subjects the freedom of autonomy and self-actualization? Is the intent to show that he is a thoughtful and imperfect leader, who cares about the welfare of his people, or is that he is a dictator who gave his lover an empty title?

While SJM's execution of certain topics isn't perfect, I think that wilful ignorance and the desire to see something that isn't there, and something that SJM didn't intended at all, is really the cause of all the shipwars and the IC hate.

Is SJM REALLY in love with Lucien and is excited to write his book, or is that the fantasy of his stans? Whereas SJM's never been particularly complimentary towards Lucien and his character in interviews or in canon?

Will Tamlin's elusive 'redemption arc' REALLY be something that SJM is interested in writing? Or her calling him a 'douchebag' is kind of indicative of her feelings towards him?

"Elriels are obsessed with canon'. We heard this again and again and again. Being obsessed with canon' simply means that we are paying attention to what SJM's intentions are and what she wants to convey through her words. Elriels, just like everyone else have headcanons about Elain, and Az, and Elriel. But we don't discard the actual books and writing in favour of our headcanons.

I feel that lack of consideration towards 'intent' is really leading some people down a very slippery road, where at the end of it, they'll find a lot of crushed dreams. Because most of the time, 'black' is just....black. It's not white. It's not even opaque. It's just, black. I think people should remember that when they do their 'analysis'.

and think about it. nobody could tell who he is under a fursuit head. it’s perfect.

he doesn’t commission a partial right away, he starts off buying some paws. he ends up really liking them (his adhd ass likes paw stimming convince me otherwise) and nimona’s all like “k, next step: tail.”

eventually he works up to commissioning a maker for a full partial, under a pseudonym, of course, and is anxious but optimistic about his first fursuit.

(also imagine the maker being like: “hi saw the name on your paypal and it’s super cool to work with you and it’s (p)awesome that you’re a furry, but your secret is safe with me :)”)

and then he gets it and is like “oh. oh he’s perfect” and immediately starts just going “omg thank you thank you for the awesome fursuit and amazing job and gahhh thank you” in this maker’s dms because he’s a dork.

then they go to a furcon and everyone lives happily ever after (except he literally is terrified to take off his head even a little bit—he drinks water from a cup with a really long straw)

MC is sex-happy and loves their situation (mostly) but… I just think of how awful it would be if they weren’t into sex or didn’t want to have sex with a particular person but they didn’t really have a choice in the matter since they literally need it to survive in Hell and refusal may either kill them or make them so ill they cannot keep their deal with Satan, which would kill Minhyeok. It’s kind of a shitty situation to be trapped in if you aren’t 100% up for sex with, well, anyone and everyone at any given time. So, you know. That’s what this fic kind of is. Consider this your warning. Word Count: 1003

You closed your eyes as you cradled your face in your hands. The sensation of nausea flooded your head and left your legs uneasy beneath you. Your stomach twisted and turned and rolled over itself inside your body. The world spun and twirled in random patterns around you, shapes faded in and out of view, and colors blurred with smells and textures.

This was the sickness that came with having your energy depleted to the point of concern. It was like being a wet clay jar, left to dry under the harsh rays of the sun to crack and chip until it couldn’t hold anything inside of it. Hell itself was tearing you apart because it knew you didn't belong.

Once the sickness was too much to bear, you stumbled and collapsed. The ground did not catch you. Instead, you fell forward into something firm. Through your hazy vision, you could just barely make out Leviathan glaring at you from over his shoulder as you held yourself up using him as a cane.

“Who said you could touch me?” He asked rhetorically with murder in his tone.

Despite his obvious anger, you were grateful that he insisted on walking in front of you as he dragged you from place to place. It had unknowingly put him in the perfect position to catch you. 

“Sorry,” you mumbled as you tried to pick yourself back up.

Your efforts were for naught though, as attempting to push yourself up only had you stumbling anew.

No one – citizen or noble – ran to help you, despite your clear distress. If you had to guess, no one in Hades would dare to upset their envious lord by moving to assist you when it was clear that he was guiding you. Although, what he was really doing was dragging you along with him while you were in his kingdom because he still didn't trust to leave you alone.

You couldn’t see it through your blurry vision, but the judgment radiating from his stare burned holes through the very soul that felt like it was being torn apart inside of you.

He huffed in annoyance. “If you're low on energy, say so.”

You shook your head, regretting the decision immediately as a new wave of nausea overcame you.

“I’m fine.”

It was an obvious lie, but you could make it true. All you needed was to get back to Gehenna or Tartaros and one of the devils there would take care of you. Gehenna was home to the friendliest devils you knew whereas Tartaros’ residents were so devoted that sex with them was filled with laughter and smiles as well as pleasure.

“Do you think that because humans can lie in a way devils can't it means you can lie so blatantly?”

“No. I just-”

You couldn't finish your statement as Leviathan grabbed you around your hip and pulled you closer. If it was anyone but him, the gesture would also feel romantic. The one grabbing you was Leviathan though, so you knew his actions were about pulling you around and controlling you.

“I'm sorry. I’ll see someone to get energy.”

You weakly pushed against him but it did nothing.

“You don't need to go to anyone else. I'm already here.” His other hand snaked up your neck, gripping it tightly. “Bring us to your room.”

“I don't want-”

“What you want is irrelevant.” His coffin appeared out of the ground behind him. “We can go here if you prefer.”

It wasn't a genuine offer. Even in your inebriated state, you could tell that his words were a threat. Either you brought him to your special place – the illusionary realm given to you out of kindness by Satan that also served to remind you of why you fought so hard in Hell – or he would drag you into the same coffin that he had nearly locked you away in forever when you first met him.

Through your hazy mind, you brought him to your illusionary room. If you had to be brought somewhere, you would rather it be somewhere you were comfortable. His coffin was only filled with bad memories.

The pillow was soft beneath your head, though it offered no solace in your current state. Even lying on your back, it felt like you were going to fall through the bed and crash to the ground.

Unlike when you invited others to this space, you were careful to keep your clothing on. This wasn’t a passionate love affair or even a fun tumble in the sheets. The only way you could think of Leviathan was as bitter medicine.

Everything that happened – the hand that clawed down your torso to tear open your shirt and expose your chest, the knee that nestled itself between your legs to force them apart, his grip that tightened around your wrists and guided your hand to his throat – blurred together. You tightened your grip around his throat, trying to push against him to push him away from you. Even in your sickened state – feeling like you were being torn apart – you didn’t want him. 

The haze in your mind was only matched by that in his eyes as you began to choke him. That expression reminded you of what he had said only moments earlier.

What you want is irrelevant.

He was terrible to know that he was right. No matter how much you protested, you were currently in a state that could generously be described as dying. Leviathan was the only one with you – although you could assume that Foras had been nearby as always. Whether you liked him or not, whether you wanted him or someone else, Leviathan was the only option you had if you wanted to get better; if you wanted to have the strength to keep your promise and free the devils of Hell.

So you turned your head to try and stare at the wallpaper you knew all too well to remind yourself why you were here at all.

solar/eclipse - i feel like they would pretend to hate each other in public but we all know that they make out when the doors r closed/silly

GABRIELA SAW X THINKS AND FEELS

Got bored so it's time to yap about Saw characters, today on the chopping block is Gabriela! Mainly Gabriela is compared with either Adam or Amanda, for similar and also different reasons. When it comes to the comparisons, with Adam it's usually down to the fact she and him both ''won'' their traps but were both still killed at the end (Also their wet pathetic demeanour said with all the love)- Then with Amanda, it's how both were drug addicts... Amanda basically seeing herself in Gabriela and seeming to root for her to win.

She's likely is most peoples fav new character coming out of Saw X, she has the most content produced out of all of the other introduced characters for example. However, I think one thing I don't always agree with from my own perception is how she's painted to be almost an angel (Within the fandom)? Gabriela is by no means an evil person, it's very easy to be sympathetic to her situation and I don't think that's a bad thing. But also- SHE IS IN HER TRAP FOR A REASON? Just the same as Valentina and or Mateo or someone like Adam/Amanda.... But the reception she gets to me at least seems different. First I'll get it out of the way that this is slightly due to the fact she's shipped with Amanda, which I do believe shipping generally sometimes changes fandoms perceptions of characters or tries to put them more so into labels? With that said, I also am aware of power imbalances between the character (Such as Mateo being the one who supplies Gabriela oxycodone even if he states in the movie he will no longer be doing so going forward).

It's hard for me to exactly pinpoint and or explain why I think this is when I look at peoples portrayals slash discussions of her character... If I had to narrow it down, I believe it's because I feel as though people don't put the same effort into analysing characters and exploring the nuance of them when it isn't a VERY VERY beloved/popular one- And the argument to that is screen time, which does make sense? We get more of a feel for characters such as Amanda, John, Mark, Lawrence and yada yada, due to them being recurring characters... Then with Adam, even though he dies in the first movie? That first movie is solely focused on his and Lawrence's story mainly and not multiple characters, so the audience forms more of an attachment to him and his personality... However! I personally love looking at all characters so here I am. To me and likely everyone, Gabriela is a young and lost woman... She's basically going through what we as the audience would assume as the roughest patch of her life. She seems to be pretty early 20s and is obviously stated to be a drug addict, joining Cecilia's scam to feed her addiction with any money she gets paid with. Outside of this, we have no backstory to any previous occupations and or her education. Nor do we have any insight to friends and or family. This probably comes down to screen time and also the fact exploring any of this wasn't central to the story and the portrayal of her character- But generally, this paints Gabriela to be a quite isolated person outside of the scam. Personality wise, it goes with out saying Gabriela would have a manipulative streak from all the scamming and needing to be able to source drugs. Interacting with John she uses very basic speech to interact and lie to him, but in reality she seems to have no issue speaking fluently in English. It makes perfect sense with the knowledge she is apart of The Pederson Project, Cecilia wouldn't have chosen someone who's terrible at lying or putting on a façade at the end of the day. This doesn't make her an evil person though, as I've said before. Even though Gabriela is choosing to source her money by being a simple pawn in a big scam- She still holds noticeable humanity to a degree, seeing as she encourages those around her in traps and has a more considerable reaction to their deaths than compared to someone like Cecilia. I think when it comes down to the cancer patients before John, Gabriela had the thought process of out of sight out of mind and would probably not dwell too much on the ethics of what she was doing.

I think one thing for her character I'd have wished to see, is more interactions with people outside of a drug transaction and scamming an old man.... Oh and obviously outside of being in a death trap too- It isn't exactly an issue, but I think people spend too much time comparing or labelling Gabriela's character as a version of Adam or Amanda, more so than her being a separate person? Don't get me wrong, she very much so is a good comparison to make between the previously stated characters. However, I think I more so see her as a domino effect and even a symbol than being very alike to Amanda or Adam. Gabriela is one of the reasons Amanda starts losing belief in John's philosophy, which through that results in her murdering Adam.... In these ways? Amanda becomes what Cecilia was in that moment and within Saw X, Cecilia and Gabriela were a minor foil for John and Amanda too.

There are so many what ifs with her character and how that would impact the story moving forwards. What would've happened if Gabriela had just died in her trap? What would've happened if she survived her trap- Or if she had never been tested in the first place. She as a character is one of the biggest stepping stones (whistles at myself) in the franchise when it comes to the outcomes of others, as her death is a catalyst to Amanda's future erratic behaviour and killings.

But enough about Adam and Amanda- I can't likely explain this well either, but Gabriela gives off Laura Hunter vibes so much... And both of these women I just feel so bad for at the end of the day? Them and their fashionable coats... The wettest eyes and demeanour. Anyways! These are all just my opinions, you don't have to agree with them of course but I like yapping and discussing things like this, so feel free to reblog or comment if you've got your own opinion on what I've brought up here. Because he’s going to grow… okay? That’s what characters do. Neither of these people are going to come out perfectly formed and aware of their feelings at all times. Stop making excuses for him. You ‘special boy’ is allowed to make mistakes and be held accountable. If characters didn’t make mistakes, we wouldn’t have a story. What’s the point of diminishing the things that make them interesting? That make the character and their relationships relatable? If I wanted to be watch a show about perfect people who don’t make mistakes then I would go watch…

oh wait, there isn’t a single show like that, because it would be the most boring and pointless show in the world.

I see a lot of confusion on why calling Damian Wayne "feral" is racist/problematic, so here's a rundown.

There's a difference between calling your child or your younger sibling "feral" and calling a character like Damian "feral." You know your child/sibling/niece/nephew etc. They're real people, and unless they have a problem with it personally, then there's nothing wrong with calling them feral as a joke. It doesn't (shouldn't) affect their perceptions by other people. It doesn't become a label that follows them.

Damian al Ghul-Wayne is a fictional character. A canonically mixed Arab/Chinese/Jewish White character with a history connected to some of the most prominent Arab comic book characters, who themselves also get insanely mischaracterized.

He's constantly whitewashed. He's been written with racist undertones (the suicide bomber vest). He's had his character development and progress backtracked time and time again by DC. DC treats him weirdly most days and completely shitty in the worst stories.

A good majority of fanon hasn't done any better than DC. You cannot pat yourselves on the back for being more inclusive or mental health aware than DC when you call a mixed Arab/Chinese boy "feral". It's constant. You can come up with various titles and nuances for every Bat-character, for every Robin.

Tim can be smart, a skater, a genius, the one holding everyone together, the little brother, the one who needs love. Jason can be cool, morally "right" or "wrong", unstable, PTSD-stricken, the one who was betrayed, the one with Shakespearean tragedies. Dick can be fun, happy, the first one, the prodigal son, the one with complicated history and the big brother.

You give them room for exploration. Love and care and attention and research. Many headcanons. You either comply with canon or you don't, but there's substance to their character.

What does Damian get? He's feral. He's rabid. He's a gremlin. He can't be reasoned with. He has no self-control, he's impulsive. He's hurt others, and you can't forgive it. Sometimes he's homophobic. Or classist. Or plain mean and rude to your favorite boy. He's always carrying a sword. A psychopath with no regard for another's well-being (usually Tim in a lot of fics). He can't be taught what's right.

I've seen people cry that Damian needs to punished or kicked out or treated the same way he's treated others. He needs to be brutalized or talked down to. He can never grow as a person, because he's mean to Tim or Jason, and you need him to exist as the abuser. His first move is always violent.

Fanon compares him to an animal often; he bites, claws, hisses, growls. Bruce or Dick or Jason or Tim have to wrangle him, tame him, civilize him the white man's way in lieu of his brown mother and grandfather who "clearly" raised him wrong. You don't see the issue with that? The issue with always labeling one of the few major brown characters in Batman comics as the unreasonable animal? That the child of color is always the abuser, the instigator, to older characters?

And even if you don't see him this way, you don't write him this way - then are you giving him the care and attention you give for other Bat characters?

Do you know anything else about him other than his "anger"? Because he isn't always angry. In fact, he's typically well-mannered. Quiet even, when he's not being provoked. DC's writing will always vary but whenever Damian lashes out, he's usually written with a reason to act the way he does.

Are you making him intelligent like he should be? A hard believer in redemption? A neglected and abused child who isn't meek or crying or closes himself within? Are you willing to explore that he's always exhibited the "wrong" kind of trauma responses - lashing out, being snippy, ruining relationships, refusing to admit weakness?

Do you write anything about him without making his mother and grandfather comically abusive and violent? Will you give him the supporting cast/friends he actually has? Can you write his dad/siblings interacting with him without making them white saviors or therapy pets? Can you write him without a ship or his love for animals or being vegetarian overshadowing everything?

Is he a character to you at all other than a glorified plot device with a sharp tongue and the convenience of being violent?

ok, I feel like I need to point this out (because of some tweets I've seen), but Brazil is a highly conservative country. Yes, we are very sex positive, which inherently goes against a lot of conservative views in other cultures, and yes, we have one of the biggest pride parades in the world. But we are also the country that kills the Most Amount of Trans People in the World (for 13 consecutive years).

this idea that brazilians are all nicer and more caring and more loving comes from this deep feeling of protectiveness we feel towards our country and our people. We feel like we need to project this image to protect ourselves (because last time a brazillian President decided to be human and reacted negatively to negative comments we were forced into a dictorship that would rob us of four years of democracy and republic). I find myself constantly defensive over brazillian ccs because of this. And generaly it doesn't cause much harm. But I need qsmp fans to understand that no place on earth is perfect, and although I believe that brazillians are genuinely more friendly, we aren't all nice.

Also, be good to your LGBTQ and poc brazillian friends. They really need someone on their corner.
