Rise Characterizations Pt. 3!!!
Now that Leo and Raph are done, it's Donnie's turn for character analysis as a writing reference. So without further ado,
Donnie Character Notes
Tumblr media
Language Habits:
Straight up talks like a redditor who hasn't touched enough grass (affectionate)
Oscillates between very scientific paper polished, sometimes adding a dazzle of shakespearean for dramatics, or abbreviations/a shorter version of a word with a more fun connotation (i.e. "brekkie" instead of breakfast)
Uses food as surprised exclamations or curses, "oh my peaches and cream", "banana pancakes!"
Emphasizes each syllable of a long word when he's excited or trying to make a point. Conquered becomes con-qu-ered
Either exaggerates his speech or speaks in deadpan
The science terms he uses as battle cries aren't chosen at random, but rather are related to the action/subject at hand, i.e. yelling "fibonacci" when throwing his spinning tech-bo
Will overly describe an item or a situation, and often gets caught up in these observations before processing what just happened
Will repeatedly yell "help!" when he's distressed and/or outnumbered
Refers to Mikey as "Michael"
Refers to his brothers as "brethren" or "gentlemen"
Refers to splinter as either "father", "papa", or "dad" depending on the weight of the situation
Refers to his tech as his "babies"
Answers the phone with, "You're conversing with Donatello"
Uses "gesundheit" instead of bless you
Tumblr media
Personality:
The fixer, he supplies the family with tech and resources. He always has a trinket made for the situation at hand and/or offers his knowledge/data collected. He's always prepared to help. Even with outside resources, he likes to feel useful in solving their problems (i.e., building Todd that dog park)
The theater kid, in a similar vein to leo, Donnie has his own style of dramatics. He often uses shakespeare-like language, is mentioned to regularly recite the jupiter jim musical soundtrack, and has a music mode for his battle shell. He belongs on a stage, or at least thinks he does
Not good at lying, despite the glamour he can put on in the spotlight. This may be due to the side of himself that over explains his thoughts
An over-thinker, who really tends to over-complicate things. His first theory or idea will always be the most extreme buck-wild concept. After some filtering, he still word vomits
A dreamer/big idea guy. He does have big ideas and goals. A lot of these he's able to put into place, although some go a little haywire (see Albearto). He doesn't do things in halves, and puts everything into a project
Meticulous, someone who's very detail oriented. As mentioned before he tends to over-complicates things. This may be impacted by his love for data and collecting information (he does record Everything for a reason)
Always on the edge of violence, which is surprising. Donnie's not known as being the angry archetype of tmnt, but he can get a little violent in his fighting style and does often cite his desire to use lethal force
Low empathy, which is mainly due to his issues processing and recognizing emotions. He's been pegged as unemotional, but in canon he's rather emotional and expressionate, just lacking the skills to process such emotion (he's just like me fr)
Praise motivated, as seen with his interactions with Splinter. Also desires the praise of his brothers, who he doesn't feel understand him with all the teasing that's sent towards his direction. This also pushes him to seek validation and acceptance in other groups (i.e. the purple dragons), to feel a sense of security or belonging
Ignores his own mistakes, and will often pretend like they didn't exist or ever happen. This most likely has to do with his desire for praise, so he feels bad when he fails. If he never made a mistake, he never has to feel bad
Tumblr media
Miscellaneous:
Fourth to unlock mystic powers
Uses "Bootyyyshaker9000" as most of his usernames and passwords, with his alt. username being "Alpha-Bootyyyshaker9000"
Has a fear of bees, spiders, and of course beach balls
Breaks the fourth wall the most
Loves the smell of pineapple, hates the texture
Has a hobby of rooting around in the junkyard and dumpster diving
Uses cheat codes in video games
Mikey's next of course :)

honestly would be pretty interested in hearing about all of them, if thats alright
it's no problem o( ❛ᴗ❛ )o i like talking about this
for context, apart from making personal art i'm also an artist and character designer at Smarto Club, so I don't know if these count as OCs but i have posted art of them here: Haco from >Bubblegum Galaxy and Teacup from >Teacup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you can check the steam pages on those games for more info if u like. i love all my characters but i don't usually make personal art of these two since i already do it as my job.
my newest Smarto Club character is a bit different since she's more in the style of what i'm doing personally so i want to make more art of her soon. her name is Abigail:
Tumblr media
she's a kid who likes reading about bugs and catching them but she never hurts them : ) this is a short game in early development but it's about catching creatures called angels. it's got horrorish vibes but i don't think the end result will be full-out horror, since it's also kinda silly...
then there's Peklo, it's a game for which i created the whole concept and story but the plan is to develop it as a studio at Smarto Club. i wrote more context for it on this post, but for the characters, they're my favorites to make art about at the moment. the main ones are Kiku (the cat) and Mi (the bunny):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i recently created these human forms of them for fun but i'm not sure whether i'll establish them as canon or not... they're trapped in limbo/hell so there's space for them to have a past human form. they don't remember their lives but Kiku feels a deep sense of regret about things unkown to her and wants to break out of Peklo. Mi feels trapped in an eternal sadness, she longs to see the ocean, she can always hear it but has never been able to reach it.
the antagonist in Peklo is a frog entity called Guppy but i haven't really shown him outside of his froggy logo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i also have OCs from my smaller games. there's Hlina that i created specifically for >this game that was commissioned to me for a zine. i don't have any plans to use her again for now but i might make more art of her in the future for fun. she's part of a strange dream realm and is hostile to the player:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there's iro from the >game with the same name who's my oldest game OC. i created that bitsy game for her story but she existed previously in my art degree final project, it was a version of the same story but just a section of it. it's a dream of mine to create a full-fledged 3D game for her some day.
she's a bit of a defective space exploration robot, sent to explore planetoid Iridium-3 in search of human contact. it's set in a future where humanity has dispersed among the whole galaxy so lots of groups have lost contact with each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my latest game OC is Michtat, a wizard cat that i created just for this silly zine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lasty, there’s the characters from my comic that I’m working on, called The most distant planet. the main characters are Victor and Mitya, two 9 year olds whose families end up living together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'd say these are the dearest characters to me of all. i don't post as much of them because they're mostly in the shape of comic pages and it doesn't spark as much interest as my games. i love drawing them though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they’re both little weirdos who isolate themselves and don’t fit in much with other children, so the friendship they develop is very special to them. they have almost opposite personalities where Victor (darker hair) is very shy and dorky but also very sweet to everyone, while Mitya mostly gives 0 fucks about what anyone thinks or says, he blurts out whatever he’s thinking and just wants to run around wild.
the story is mostly slice of life-ish but there’s also a science fiction element ^-^ Victor is obsessed with things like ghosts, aliens, etc but Mitya thinks it’s all just dumb tales.
another important character is Alyosha, Mitya’s 17-18yo brother. he doesn’t know how to talk or relate to his little brother and is kinda weirded out by him. they where very close when they were younger, but when Mitya was 2 he had an accident that Alyosha feels guilty about, and has been somehow different ever since.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he still worries about his little brother and how isolated he is, though. at the beginning of the story the two of them live alone with their grandma who does love them but has kind of a cold and distant personality.
Alyosha was the type of kid to be considered “gifted” but now feels completely burnt out and had to repeat a grade at school. he felt so humiliated by this he eventually stopped going entirely, so he now works part time and just studies at home. he cut contact with his old classmates but he still has 2 best friends from the last few months he spent at school in the grade below, Manon and Min Na. they’re the kind of friends who just show up unannounced at his house and job, and are very involved with his family’s life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i’ve also included Min Jie in some art, she’s Min Na’s younger cousin and comes into the story later:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i should have like character sheets and stuff for all of these OCs but i’m the kind to just jump head first into drawing/modeling lol, that's why i included all these finished illustrations.
i really wanna publish this comic, i’ve been working on it for a long time and i’m currently waiting for the results of a public funding application here in my country to decide what i'll do next.
hope this could be of interest (^人^) thanks for the ask!

next: updated refs for the main adult cast (aka, the other core quintet)
- As principal of Jerome Horwitz Elementary, Erica Wang has dedicated her career to making sure every child in her school gets the support they need. Under Erica's leadership, JHES is a much less depressing place, sporting features like an art program, a fully-stocked library, after school tutoring, and an actual full-time school nurse.
- Erica herself also likes to take a hands-on approach with students, taking notice of anyone who seems to be struggling either academically or socially and working together with Bo to figure out the best course of action. While her intentions are definitely in the right place and come from a sense of genuine care, she does have a habit of forgetting to ask the students themselves what they think of her ideas....
- Design note: Erica's design is a fusion of her main kid design and her future "Grace Wain" persona
- Bo Hweemuth is the school's student guidance counselor, which basically means his job is to talk to students and help get them any resources they need, both in and outside of school. Though a lot of students feel intimidated by him at first glance, he's actually a very chill guy who likes to approach students with as much kindness and empathy as he can. He knows what it's like to be treated like a nuisance.
- Besides being co-workers, Bo is actually very good friends with Principal Wang, genuinely enjoying the work they do together to make sure every child at Jerome Horwitz can thrive.... despite any misgivings he might have about her approach. And speaking of co-workers, he's also recently struck up a pretty close friendship with the school librarian....
- In his spare time, he likes to experiment with clay sculpture. His office is decorated with all the little sculptures and figures he's made over the years.
- George Beard and Harold Hutchins are known around school as That One Pair Of Teachers; they're always together and are each other's best friend, even outside of work. To their students, they're some of the funnest teachers they've had at JHES, since they prioritize making their classes into fun, engaging learning environments through creative lesson plans and treating their students like actual people. Especially George, since he teaches the traditionally "boring" subjects of English and Literature.
- George and Harold are also the current co-leads of the school Music and Arts Program, along with music teacher Dressy Killman. Harold mentors in art, while George handles creative writing. They like to joke that they're "professionals in their field," except they're not really joking about that and it's just that everybody thinks that they are because nobody knows anything about them outside of the school.....
- Design note: George and Harold already have canon adult designs, so I just added on a few accessories to distinguish their AU selves from their canon counterparts (George's suspenders, Harold's vest)
- Melvin Sneedly (that's Professor Sneedly to you) is starting his first year as Jerome Horwitz's new science teacher, after a regrettably failed attempt to get his robotics career off the ground. He absolutely does not want to be here, he hates teaching, he hates kids, the sooner he can get out of this terrible place the better.
- He's not exactly helping his case by driving away everyone who tries to connect with him, either. Instead of spending his break times in the staff lounge with everyone else, he's spending them holed away in his classroom, poring over lesson plans, reminders of his broken dreams, and.... other stuff. It's probably not a good idea to keep bringing these personal projects to work with him but then again, his science career did fail for a reason....
- Design note: the main design philosophy here is "hey, what would Melvinborg look like without the robot half.....?"

THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEPEOPLE FAQ
What is the League of Extraordinary Gentlepeople?
The League of Extraordinary Gentlepeople, or LXGP for short, is my current writing project: an AU of the 2003 movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which is in turn a loose adaptation of the series of comics of the same name co-created by Alan Moore and Sir Kevin O'Neill.
The basic synopsis of both comics and movie is as follows: a somewhat dysfunctional superhero team composed of nineteenth century literary characters go on politically charged adventures. The comics and movie are very different, and... very much acquired tastes. Albeit I recommend watching the movie! It's extremely cheesy. Fun too!
Ok, but- what is LXGP really about?
Glad you asked!
In the late XIXth century, a mysterious type known as Agent M sets off to recruit various individuals which he calls Extraordinary People and forms the League, claiming it is the key to preventing a world-wide war! But as events unravel, the League comes to realize M is not who he claims to be...
The LXGP stories are out of order, focusing on both retellings of scenes from the 2003 movie and original stories set after the events of the movie canon. While it is mostly based off the movie, there are elements from the comics, some dramatic changes, and the character designs and personalities are taken from my literary crossover "world", Candyverse! So they will be, in some ways, very different from what you have seen in the LXG franchise.
Hold on- Candyverse?
Candyverse is the name of my literary crossover setting! Expect most of the cast to consist of public domain literary characters (and some not so public domain ones). Don't mind the silly name- the character designs are mildly inspired by sweets in the sense that they are colorful and spunky! But don't be fooled, Candyverse is a pretty dark world.
In Candyverse, Earth is actually a fantasy world, in which elves and fairies and all sorts of mythical creatures used to live... but as people stopped believeing in magic and replacing it with science, it started becoming a science fiction world instead, with amazing technology that is downright futuristic. During its nineteenth century, it is at its most unstable, with gothic literary characters and events "bridging" the supernatural with straight up mad science. And that is precisely the time I am centered in, so expect some gaslamp fantasy and steampunk tech!
Once we delve more into the lore, expect meta stuff, too!
Which not so public domain characters?
Wait and see!
How much time have you spent on this?
If I'm being honest? The concept of this AU came to me around 2020, in which I realized I had enough classic literature characters designed to cover the LXG roster with it- and I decided to jump to action. It has undergone a few changes since, but so far I'm satisfied with it. Also, don't be scared if a soft reboot comes along in a couple of years- I'm indecisive like that!
Why did you create it?
Do you want a honest answer? Just kidding.
I really like the LXG franchise, particularly the movie, though I'm aware it is an acquired taste. This project is meant to be a reply to all the missed opportunities in either comic and movie, and to common criticisms too. I make it with love and a little bit of anger (because SO MANY MISSED OPPORTUNITIES!), and I ride the inspiration unicorn as far as I can.
A shorter answer would be that the gothic lit fandom loves to spread misinformation about it and that drives me up the wall.
So... What's with the title?
The League's roster is only 2/6 men. It's only fair.
And the roster is...?
Mina Murray Harker (she/they), Captain Nemo (no pronouns), Irene Adler (she/they), Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde (he/they/it), Harlow Griffin (he/him), and Alice Byrd (she/fae). I will make -and post- official character bios as soon as I can!
Wait. Alice? From Wonderland?
Yep! She's in her mid-twenties here!
In which year is this set?
In the year of 18??, more or less.
Where is Jonathan? My good friend Jonathan?
He's at home! Technically he is a member of the League, but he is not in Mina's team, but in a second "backup" team that I still have to fully develop!
(This is mostly an excuse to not have to write him. I think he's a pretty boring person. Sorry!)
Where is Tom Sawyer?
He's also in the backup team!
Where is Dorian Gray?
Wait and see!
Where is Allan Quatermain?
He's dead.
...I'm sorry?
Do you have any biases?
*hiding Hyde behind me* Haha, noooo, not at all, what makes you think that, hahahaha.
Are the League heros?
Collectively, they're heroes. They do good. Well, attempt to do good. After breaking bonds with M, they set off as a rogue team of mercenaries. Individually? They range from heroic to villainous. And, honestly, for old-timey superheroes, they're ratther floppy. Their missions often go wrong or do the opposite of saving the day. Whoops!
Will there be queer stuff in this?
All League members are transgender. Does this answer your question?
...I meant like, romance...
Sheesh! Yes, yes there will be! Just be patient!
Will there be... steamy stuff?
I suck at writing NSFW so yeah, "steamy" is all you're gonna get lol.
Will you post art?
I suppose I will- when I make it.
How often will this update?
WHEN. I. HAVE. FINISHED. A. STORY. THEN. I WILL. POST. IT. THAT'S. WHEN. IT. UPDATES.
Can I make art?
Sure you can!
Can we collab?
SURE!
Can we kiss?
Ew. No.

Saiou siblings for the character thingie~?
hehe thank you!! on my way to be way too long on these two (I love them).
Starting with Mizuchi:
First impression: That she's cool ? I mean she immediately looks so cool and badass it only hits how cool later.
Impression now: oh my GOD she's awesome. Miiko hacker girl that lives on a cave, do occult rituals and fortune telling and can also get in one of the tech industry giant server because?? she just does that. Also did you know she very very likely is supposed to represent the mathematical aspect of dimension travel in Cthulhu mythos? that "mathematician witch" is a thing that exist and she's that and that's just awesome. Also she has a whole giant evil ugly god of darkness as an ace. No one's doing it like her. She's perfect.
Favorite moment: When she tells Judai and Edo to leave the virtual world, Judai tells her to come with them and she's so shocked. And it just makes me insane like she truely didn't think "receiving help" was a possibility. It makes me sad. But also it explains everything about her.
Idea for a story: I need more Mizuchi fucking up the limit of space time and facing the deepest horrors of the universe through sheer data science and matrix calculation and love for her brother. I write that a little but i need more. She's perfect for dimensional math bullshit. Oh also I have this post-canon scene that is too fucked up to write but.... what if the light never lives and Mizuchi and Edo has to figure out if Saiou truly can't be saved and when it appears that no he can't, Mizuchi just. knows she has to get rid of the light at any cost even as the last wish to her life. (this is a charles d ward/thing on the doorstep moment that im obsessed with btw).
Unpopular opinion: The few times people talk about her but write her as Saiou's sweet kind gentle soft sister that he wants to protect... I mean yeah he wants to protect her but it very much goes both way and. Like. Come on. She blackmailed some guys to go beat up an old man, then kidnap two teenage kid as leverage to force another teenager to fight her. And she didn't exactly regret that, nor did she hesitate, NOR WAS SHE UNDER ANY FORM OF OUTSIDE CONTROL. She willingly chose violence and didn't doubt for a second it was the only way to get what she wants. Meanwhile Saiou cries when he has to use his power on someone else. When Saiou is in danger, she says "please return my gentle little brother". When Mizuchi is in danger he says "I don't know what to do without her". Like oh my god it's so important to me that Saiou is the sensible, soft-hearted one (the poet) and Mizuchi the analytical, goal-focused one (the mathematician). That's even why Mizuchi was immune to the light: she has an unwavering resolve and knows exactly what she wants.
Favorite relationship: Of course Saiou. of course I love these, even if they're not canonically twins they are SO anime twins-coded. They can't live without one another. "it's like losing half of my soul". They only had each other for so long and they can never be as close to anyone but each other. Insane insane. Actually I can't think of any other relationship cuz... Mizuchi is very non partnering aro to me? She's just not interested in people. The 5 second of fubuki bonding she had in tf3 was fun but like... Nah she just doesn't care that much.
Favorite headcanon: She's the actual gx mathematician. Misawa is a physician/chemist if you want idk idc he is NOT a mathematician. Mizuchi however? That girl taught herself everything about matrix, dimension reduction, data treatment and probably learn how to code her first regression on a random pc she fixed herself. She's a linux kinda statistician. Pirate girl. I can't project my CS degree on Saiou so it'll go to her.
Saiou:
First impression: i have the screen of my very, very first reaction to Saiou and it's "he's weird but pretty".
Impression now: AND I WAS SO RIGHT HES SO WEIRD AND SO PRETTY he's the most absolute strange weirdo in all of gx AND the most beautiful character ive ever seen!!!! He just has everything I could ever love I am perpetually in awe by the character he is. The deep social struggle, and identity mess too. How he's such a deeply sensible and weak person but he was forced to be cruel and heartless and it jsut!! hurts him!! and all the contrast, between his softness and monstruosity (perceived by others and himself), between his ability to manipulate and his will to understand and be understood. and the light is such an antagonist, it's fascinating, terrifying, light!Saiou is one of the best ygo villain imo the way he duels is just chilling! Meanwhile Saiou remains so cute and he's doing his best and god god god I love him ;w;
Favorite moment: like. every single second he is on screen? Is there a single Saiou Moment that isn't my favorite? He has such funny moments (when he plays the piano. terribly. when he sucks so bad at social interaction everyone flags him as dangerous when he technically did nothing actually dangerous. that kenzan scene. HE TOOK HIS SHOES OFF BECAUSE THATS THE POLITE THING TO DO AND THEN JUST SAT THERE AND WATCHED A TEENAGER SLEEP????? BECAUSE IT WAS LESS WEIRD THAN WAKING HIM UP TO HIM APPARENTLY??) but also very, very heartfelt one (like. that whole dialogue between Edo and Saiou. the hand holding, the finally expressing their feelings and the way Saiou slowly is unable to speak and can only whisper "Edo".....) scenes that are just fascinating (when he cries when asking Manjoume if he wants to follow him??? like wtf was that??? when the light punches the mirror "shattering" Saiou as well WTF WAS THAT??) and more and more and more
Idea for a story: I constantly have a million story in my brain about Saiou. he's just living there. Thinking of a fantasy AU based on the quest for the timebird comics book (not even sure they exist in english lol), with that specific type of french comics fantasy, where Judai and Saiou travels to fix the balance of light and darkness (and perhaps fucked up stuff follows). Re-thought how badly I want a vampire AU with a confession scene with DD. confession that fucks up the priest. As far as canon-leaning ideas uhh I do want to do more ed-sai childhood content, i just love to write sad kids being sad apparently. Also a post-canon with some universe alteration so that KC is ambiguously evil and tries to study the light through Saiou but it's not really a good thing, so Ryo who is also kinda studied helps Edo get Saiou out? I just want a bit of science themed horror in the gx universe about the Light.
Unpopular opinion: Every once in a while people acts like Saiou is truely evil and bad and all and yeah okay whatever Im not arguing with that. I actually am fairly chill with Saiou opinions cuz even when it's from people who only care about the surface level elements (villain) it's interesitng? Saiou is just. such a good villain too. however it really annoys me that some people think Edo or Judai hate Saiou at all. They want to help him so bad can't you read!!! People are just scared that Edo isn't emotionally closed off to anyone until [whoever they ship him with] they scared of how badly he loves Saiou. And also scared of how Judai is so nice to Saiou. Can't handle that the freak is loved. (also he's beautiful shut up).
Favorite relationship: You can put any character next to Saiou i'll love it. So like the fav list is long. Already talked about Mizuchi up there. Of course Edo is there too, their relationship is like. a really important part of season 2. And I truely love that they have this unhealthy, co-dependency element while genuinely loving each other and trying to be better for each other. And so many fun details! Like the height difference that only shines when Edo is so so protective of Saiou. And how Saiou is also protective of him in his own way. And the sad weird ambiguously gay childhood friendship they had (can't explain it you need to have a weird vaguely toxic ambiguously gay childhood friendship to get it). But also they're so cute and hold hands and make eternal friendship promises!! Also with s4 Judai like these two are. idk how to explain it beside the dynamic of two severely undiagnosed teenager meeting on rp forums and being each other's sole emotional support because no one else around them get it and also they don't ahve to face each other. No idea what the other looks like but they know the details of their trauma. "hey whats up can i vent" at 3 am kinda situation. (also they're both arospec to me and it's easier to build relationship with people who like. don't do that stuff). Also tf3 gave me three hints of Johan Saiou friendship and im so into this!! Just give him kinda weird friend that are attentive to his struggles and help him socialize in a safe way!! johan going "saiou's card are so cool when they turn around" im just ;w;;; about this. Also his dynamic with DD because I think about it a lot. I mean of course it's nothing like friendship or anything else ever but like..... the weird child that Knows and the man that is terrified of anyone Knowing... the desire for salvation and the fear of corruption... can't explain but yes i am obsessed about the saburov and clara pathologic if that helps. Last word on. light/saiou. because hm they had no business writing the evil posessing soulless entity that created a soul from Saiou's despair act like his toxic ex... forcing him then hitting him when he rebels then insulting him then trying to get him back by saying "you're nothing without me" kinda stuff... I just love when the possessing and the possessed kiss yknow.
Favorite headcanon: in what world does he have any understanding of gender and it is not a restrictive prison to him. "I tried to be normal and fit in but it still feels wrong" YEAH I KNOW i hate gender binary too!!! Also sending him a weird mix up of mental stuff no one can really tell apart (but im the most invested in the dissociative aspect. He has NO idea what time what day what space it is. anxiety too but that's beside the point). and the autism. and other stuff but that's for later. Also he's a huge horror fan and loves just. weird fiction and strange horror things. He has a massive book collection that is mostly old stuff he found in whatever condition.

👀👀👀 who is roua and what are they getting up to w angelino??
hi again to the loveliest of judes! also so so so. roua mizani is actually an older character from no good deed that you might remember as ramona addicott. her name and background's gone through some changes, but her core interests and values have stayed the same.
without giving too much about her at large away: juve, from good intentions, was raised by her nini (grandmother/primary caretaker) since her parents were off traveling for work. juve did not feel one way or another about this except for a small hope when she was informed by her nini at some point that her parents were expecting- and that juve might get a younger sibling in the future. juve was ! Very much interested in seeing someone's self come into being in real time, and play a role in crafting it. but then of course she committed to being safi full time and had to sort of put that dream away, to her vague regret and chagrin.
well! in no good deed we learn that younger sibling turned out to be a younger brother - who went on to have his own kids - who went on to have roua and her brother dima (we also learn a little about the brother and juve's actual eventual meeting but that's needless spoilers).
and roua is soooo interested by her great aunt.
more specifically, roua is so interested by juve's notes on shifting and the three branches of magic and even slightly sociopathic observations on people at large (that by the aftermath of good intentions juve is not even quite so loyal to anymore). and roua is both very interested in further researching juve's 'findings' (that there's fluidity between the branches, that one can actually learn and adopt the other, etc) and is already upholding her beliefs on other people (as subjects for personal gain). roua is not getting out of the dang cycle girl
this corresponds pretty wonderfully to angelino's own aims as well: to make a name for himself by breaking free of the three-branch system as well, and create a new form of magic. he's also found some of juve's notes by sheer chance: and paired with her descendant, they're very keen to build on them (and disregard the human parts where juve's like growing as a person and stuff).
it's actually pretty bad bc at least where juve's whole thing was oversimplifying and projecting onto other people, trying to understand them through becoming them and making them fit Her mold of them as a result, roua is much more detached from other people at large - she sees them more as flippant means for an end, potential experiments to help wider Humanity advance. roua doesn't care about humans, but rather the vague notion of humanity - the scientific field at large. the cycles have just gotten Worse.
paired with angelino's willingness to use other people to further personal gain, and cope to himself that he's doing this as an act of mercy towards them by taking people who weren't doing anything with their lives and letting them be a part of something ultimately greater - they're truly a dream team. especially when we factor in angelino's religious upbringing vs roua's Clear Cut Science, angelino's trying to get back at his community vs roua totally disinterested and disconnected from hers, angelino desperate to have control vs very much needing roua for practical matters, angelino maintaining this is a necessary sacrifice and also an act of mercy to the others vs roua operating under no such delusions but rather just wanting to see What Happens and the others happen to be part of the experiment...... fun fun fun! cue a lot of exciting debates.
also the two of them do like. canonically have a vibe. along with being straight & weird about it. maybe just the fact that they've each finally found someone to respect

i read some books this year and because i can im going to talk about them. the yearly what-will-simba-attempt-to-pick-up book list is coming, i just have to decide. 2022 was a surprisingly fruitful year despite the horrifyingly devastating beginning of it (i don't think i read a single book til the end of march) and the first year i met my reading goal of 10 books a year :) in order under the cut
sing me to sleep by r.m. virtues. 2.75 ⭐
this was my first published erotica ever and it was fine. it's about a girl who's dad dies in a home invasion and she's understandably traumatized so she takes some sleeping pills and gets fucked by an antler demon in her sleep. not nearly as creepy as it sounds and it is to its detriment, but it's a decent thing, i just don't really vibe with erotica as i've come to find. if there's plot i don't care about the sex and if there's only sex then i don't care about the book. the antlers were cool tho.
a week to be wicked by tessa dare. 3.75 ⭐
this is a regency bodice ripper (?) where a budding geologist with her knickers in a twist cajoles a rakish viscount? earl? whomever into """"eloping""" with her so she can get a fossil up to scotland in a week. they do fuck. it was fine. the romance was nice, the characters were somewhat fun if supremely uninventive, and the whole thing was atmospheric. the mc never let up with the nit like other girls thing tho which cost it at least half a star
paradais by fernanda melchor. 3.75 ⭐
read it in spanish, super short, very mexican. some boy is a high school dropout working as a gardener in a luxury residential complex bc his mama forced him to and he Hates his life and wishes he could join a cartel like his brother in law and his cunt of a pregnant cousin is living in his house and taking his bed and as he's drowning in the oppressive monotony of poverty and corruption he makes friends with a fat rich kid who is addicted to porn and obsessed with his neighbor's hot trophy wife and it all ends in tragedy. i told you it was very mexican. this book was Commentary and very little else. i did not like it, but the ending hit. But also i had a gig on a complex similar like the one he works in and i gotta tell you i found the book incredibly relatable in those two hours
unequal affections by lara s. Ormiston 3.75 ⭐
or how i like to call it: going in and out of rooms, the book. this is a pride and prejudice canon divergence book where elizabeth actually accepts darcy's first proposal despite her not loving him, they go back to longbourn, she "can't say she loves him yet, honestly, it's been two days", he gets upset, exits the room. that's the book. like, it's decent fanfiction, but its best feature is how it highlights how dynamic pride and prejudice's second half is originally. i spent a good third of this book thinking oh im glad jane austen didn't do this, but it's not a bad book
project hail mary by andy weir. 4.5⭐
standard scifi and andy weir stuff. guy wakes up amnesiac in the middle of nowhere, space shoved inside a spacecraft and as he regains bits of his memory he remembers there are tiny alien microbes eating the sun back home and HE is the hero supposed to Save The Day. except he doesn't remember shit and his crew died on the way. fun stuff. the science bits were massively interesting, albeit clunky at times. the relationship between the leads was incredibly heartwarming, though, and i thought the ending was lovely
morning glory milking farm by c.m. nascosta. 3.75 ⭐
this was my second erotica i purposefully read for the sex on it and it was an improvement but my favourite bits were the romance so like, take that as you will. in this book mythological creatures have fallen prey to capitalism and modernity so the mc lands a job where she has to jerk off minotaurs on the daily bc their sperm has useful enzymes or something and there's one minotaur who particularly enjoys it so they date. not much of a plot besides the romance, but they were cute. funny to think about like, the fur. it's really not as crazy as people made it out to be, though. (edit: the jerking off is voluntary btw my mans goes there on his lunch break)
half a soul by olivia atwater. 4 ⭐
aw this was a lovely little fantasy regency book about a girl who encounters a faerie when young who steals half her soul so she's very odd for most of society and has to help her cousin get a husband so they both don't end up destitute or something, and she ends up mixed in with the going ons of the ptsd ridden royal wizard man. this was very cute, and also i read it while i was reading the making of the english working class so i was quite pleased to find some horrible factory working conditions in the book for me to be like oh!! Historical accuracy!!! (minus the fae)
how high we go in the dark by sequoia nagamatsu. 4 ⭐
oh i did not like this but it's very good. it's just cloyingly heavy, and there were too many stories i simply did not care for. but they were all done so well i ended every chapter like well, but it has a point. anyway this is a scifi that basically follows the course of humanity over millennia and the development of technology, industry and human relationships mostly around the institutionalization of grief (i found this believable but silly) and it begins after a woman dies on a scientific expedition on the artic and they find the mummy of a prehistoric girl who died of a virus that begins a pandemic of alien inclination. there were some spectacular chapters, my fave being city of laughter (the illness affects primarily children at first and they die at such a rate someone decides to open an amusement park where the kids can have a good last day and die on the loop of a rollercoaster. Fucking insane.) and pig son (scientist who lost his son is researching the illness on a pig to grow viable organs and the new pig starts talking and behaving like a boy).
sea of tranquility by emily st. john mandel. 4.75 ⭐
the book i rated highest this year, but not quite a five star. i just loved the way that this was written. how the writer structured her paragraphs and chapters-- and the voices! i loved edwin and his patterns of thought. this a book that also happens in centuries, but instead of humanity, it follows three people (a man exiled to canada in the turn of the century, a woman from a moon colony giving the last book tour on earth and a man with an aimless life in that same colony centuries afterwards) that are connected by an odd moment in time, like a glitch. i felt like it did what how high we go in the dark attempted but much better bc it was more self contained. the ambiance was amazing, and if I'd liked the central character more, i probably would've given it 5 stars
comfort me with apples by catherynne m. valente. 4.5 ⭐
this was my actual favourite book of the year, bc i think about the ending and just. Lie there. i told my friend about it and we cried about the unfairness of being a woman together lol anyway this is a super short book about a perfect woman with a perfect husband living in a house too big for her whose perfect life gets interrupted when she finds a lock of hair in a drawer on her vanity that doesn't belong to her and it's not the only body part she finds. it's really creepy at times, and the ENDING man i keep thinking about one line i truly was the perfect person to read this book because i did not see the ending coming until we were already on the last chapters and i frankly think this is a splendid little book it dragged a little at the middle but i think upon reread knowing the full context it'd be spectacular
dark matter by blake crouch. 4 ⭐
this was a fine book, but i think my disappoinment with it stems from the fact it was advertised to me as extremely fucked up and creepy and, like, it wasn't. in theory, it's a strong concept — a "failed" scientist gets kidnapped and forcefully sent into a parallel universe where he's a successful awarded man but he only wants to get back to his family and has to brave the multiverse that his doppelganger created access to. he finds a lot of shit, there's some mildly fucked up scenarios, but none of it is truly scary. the voice of the mc is very much, like, white male, tho. it did bother me. also everyone in this book is white which added to my disappoinment. as a scifi it works tho, as a multiverse is okay
laska by k. webster. 2 ⭐
i guess this counts as erotica but like, don't. it's bad. i read it in a feverish half hour to stall my growing panic attack while in the middle of writing a final paper, and like, the corniness did shock me into calmness. it's 26 pages of a pair of incestuous brothers living in the woods, how they get together and start eating people. a tiktok got me in the exact right moment and i suffered for it mfs were so fuckin corny 🙄
book lovers by emily henry. 4 ⭐
this was my last book of the year and a nice surprise. i avoided this novel because i was afraid it'd be too self referential (i hate writers writing writer characters, which i know is hypocritical but they never do it right), but it was quite alright. it's almost a hallmark movie parody about a ruthless literary agent and a book editor who have a "rivalry" (they're, like, barely acquaintances, let alone enemies) and find themselves in the same little town for a month. everybody says this authors writes the same characters and i can't tell you if she does, but they have very good chemistry. the book is more about the mc and her relationship with her sister, which i enjoyed. overall a nice wrap up to the year.

alright buddy hit me with it. how did u kill sasha and what is ghost-her up to afterwards
well it just so happens that grime was just slow enough in this particular universe that sasha elizabeth waybright became one of those fifth grade science projects where you try and package an egg properly so itll survive being dropped from the third storey of a building. anne did not get a very good grade on this project.
ghost sasha regains awareness on top of the crumbling tower, remembers none of this and Also is unaware that shes a ghost. anything that might clue her in just doesnt process so she's really confused as to why anne is screaming and sobbing at the ground cause girl theres nothing fucking there. she is Pissed that the toads are leaving without her but the tower is unstable so she is like oh my Fuck anne calm Down get off this tower before we all *die* and anne looks at her like. well like shes seen a ghost. they leave and anne and the plantars are like okay what the hell are we supposed to do with this teenage ghost who will probably kill us and also doesnt seem to understand shes dead and anne who is Not having a good time is like Please can we bring her with us i promise ill make this work and theyre skeptical but also. this kids best friend just died in front of her what are you going to do say no? so thats the story of how ghost sasha ends up living in wartwood and plaguing anne with her existence every single day.
sasha getting less terrible is a bit of a Process but it happens. when they meet up w marcy marcys like. oh my god what have i done and spills the truth but in a grand turn of events anne is way more mad abt this than sasha is bc to anne amphibia was "get stuck in the woods get stuck in a town that doesnt trust you break your arm watch your friend try to kill your grandpa and then sacrifice herself for you and get haunted by a ghost" meanwhile amphibia to sasha was "get put in jail have an adventure realize you can be a better person and then do some self improvement" so anne goes back to wartwood w the plantars like in canon but sasha stays with marcy.
temple time! first two temples go exactly as in canon. third temple? well when sasha goes to charge the stone she almost disappears. sasha being a ghost is directly tied to the strength gem's power so. well that has some consequences and the weakening of her ghost form un-represses all the fun memories of going splat like a bug on a windshield. so sasha gets to have a little oh my god im dead crisis
they go back to the king like sorry were not charging the fucking box sasha will die he gets mad shit happens i havent gotten this part planned out well they beat him up yk the drill
...aaaand then moon time. it goes the same as in canon except for the little detail that with taking the power of the gems that means no gem for sasha and she dies. and the guardian is a little bitch asshole so while itll revive anne bc it wants to retire it doesnt give a shit about sasha. and anne has marcy and her family to go back to so she gets sent back. sasha effectively dies twice its great im having so much fun (/lying. this au makes me feel ill. in a cathartic way but still)

alright so I know literally no one cares about this but it’s my social media I’m doing what I want /lh
I’ve been seeing a lot of slander about justin russo on the internet lately and I’m currently hyperfixated on wizards of waverly place so here’s why justin is an awesome character/doesn’t deserve the hate he gets
He’s kind and treats those he loves well. Justin is canonically really good at comforting people. Although he argues with Alex a lot, at the end of the day, he’s also her older brother and genuinely cares about her. When Professor Crumbs threatens to take Alex’s magic away because she doesn’t turn her report card in, Justin says that Crumbs will also have to take his magic away. Justin is ultimately selfless. We see again and again the sacrifices he makes for Alex and I think we mainly see his kindness in that relationship. Despite that, I think he’s also notably kind to Juliet. When he finds out that he made the mistake of reporting Juliet and her parents, he instantly tries to fix it. Not only does he try to fix it, but he puts his job as Monster Hunter in jeopardy for Juliet and her parents - her parents haven’t even been that nice to him. Justin is ultimately selfless and at the end of the day, he sacrifices himself or what he wants for others. When Rosie turns back into a good angel, instead of selfishly continuing to date her and keeping her in the mortal world (which he could have done - she literally offers to stay with him), he gives her up because he realizes the world needs a guardian angel more than he needs a girlfriend. Even though it hurts because he loved her, he gives her up. There’s no “award” for doing this - he won’t move up a level in the wizard competition, he really won’t get any recognition for giving Rosie up. He doesn’t even get any recognition for turning the moral compass back to good. He does it because it’s the right thing to do. Although later I’ll argue that Justin is constantly seeking validation, I also think that the heroic/good things he does are often done with no expectation of being praised for it. He does them because he has a strong sense of morals. He’s also kind to Harper, Zeke, his parents, and even Max, who people rarely ever show kindness to in the show.
He’s in touch with his emotions. When the show starts, Justin is very against anything that will show him as feminine or emotional. In fact, he even says he’s allergic to emotions (or something like that) to cover for the fact that he’s crying over his missing dog. As the show goes on, we see Justin start to embrace and accept his emotions more and to lose touch with his toxic masculinity. I think dating Juliet changed him in a lot of ways (making him more relaxed, etc), and I think one was encouraging him to be more emotional. After Wizards vs. Vampires, Justin is pretty emotional and open about his emotions in the show. He’s even open with talking about them. In the movie, he opens up to Alex about how he feels like Jerry & Theresa wouldn’t love him as much if he were less “perfect,” which brings me to my next point.
At the end of the day, Justin is a sad character. I know it’s a kid’s show but they really do cover a lot of issues so bear w me. I’m hyperfixated and I like to over analyze shows so I’ve thought about this a lot. Justin is the oldest, which means he already deals with pressure to be perfect. Then, add in the fact that his parents are constantly describing him as the “perfect child” and putting him on a pedestal, while pitting the kids against each other as a result of the wizard culture bc of the family competition (I love Jerry & Theresa but they’re not perfect). He’s also a high achiever and we know he puts extreme pressure on himself to do well - they always make a joke about it but it’s actually quite sad. He literally feels poorly about himself when he gets a B and bases his entire self worth on his grades and skills as a wizard. In fact, in the movie he voices doubt about whether or not he’s good at anything other than magic. I have a few things I want to say about all of this. First of all, I think Justin is constantly seeking validation. I think as the oldest and “best” child, he feels the need to be perfect all the time, but he also does many of the things he does because he just wants validation. When Harper decides to run a marathon, Justin does too, and sadly his accomplishment of finishing it is overshadowed by Harper “winning.” I also think Justin feels threatened by the success of others because he thinks it invalidates his. When he opens up to Alex in the movie, he says that he’s jealous of her because it seems like everything comes naturally to her. Justin feels as if his parents loving his siblings takes away from their love from his. It’s irrational, but very real. Which brings me to my next point - Justin has generalized anxiety disorder. It makes sense - the overthinking, the outbursts he has (Alex refers to it as a conniption once) of panic or frustration, the overachieving, etc. As someone who probably has autism, I also think he’s autistic (which would explain his troubles with tone, struggle making friends, obsessions with things like Captain Jim Bob Sherwood and science, being better w robots than people, and so much more).
Ultimately, Justin has a strong moral backbone. Although he’s a stickler for the rules and this oftentimes leads him to do bad things initially, he always does the right thing in the end. For example, when Justin and Alex go to court and Justin duplicates himself to be his lawyer, his lawyer ultimately proves that Justin is guilty; he even says something along the lines of “We’re Justin Russo. We always do what’s moral and just.” Justin has a strong sense of justice (which could also be from being autistic but I could do a whole other post about neurodivergency coding in WOWP and Disney & Nick shows overall bc there’s a ton of coding) and does what he thinks is right, most of the time. Sure, sometimes he does bad things, but he’s also a teenager at the end of the day and he’s highly competitive.
Finally, Justin Russo is super progressive - in fact, he’s probably the most progressive characters of the show. He acknowledges climate change and actively tries to create a solution for it. In fact, for his science fair project he makes a water powered engine, which would reduce carbon emissions. He also wears a shirt at one point that says “Make art not war.” I will admit that his biases against the werewolf he dated were problematic, but he clearly grew from that because he never held any of that against Mason. He’s also into science and is a nerd and although this is a stereotype, most young people who are into science and are nerds are progressive. I’m pretty sure he also is well aware of current events and would probably read the newspaper. Also I myself headcanon Justin as trans and bi (again could make another post about characters in wowp that are queer)
Little note even tho probably no one will see this - this is all just for fun. If you disagree with anything I said, just say it politely hahsh. Also please don’t make fun of me for this WOWP is a huge hyperfixation and comfort thing for me rn and I just wanted to make a silly little post where I analyze one of my comfort characters. Also I kin Justin so pls don’t like hate on him in the comments.

Billy Hargrove x Male Reader
Headcanons: You’re new in town and help Billy become a better person.
Warnings: mentions of violence and homophobia, hints of smut.
A/N: This doesn’t really follows the ST timeline but who cares about canon or accuracy, am I right?
[ Masterlist ]
Tumblr media
Your parents move you a lot due to their jobs, they’re always researching something in some strange corner of the world. You can’t understand how you went from living in South America for the last six months to living in middle-of-nowhere Hawkins Indiana.
You’re out to your parents, and they’re very supportive. You consider yourself lucky, they’re very modern and open-minded people.
The kids at your new school don’t know what to make of you with your different clothes, hair and accent. Some of the teachers are fascinated to learn of the places you’ve been to.
When you met Robin your gaydars went off and you’re both excited to have a Fellow Gay in town. She introduces you to her friend Steve and the three of you become very close. Soon you are also helping Steve take care of his kids.
Tumblr media
Billy hears of this strange new kid and goes to look for him to show him who owns this school. When Billy sees you he is enthralled, the world stops and all he sees is you, he feels a strange sensation inside, and he hates it.
In the days that follow, Billy makes his moves. He is mean to you, calls you names. He tries to intimidate you and scare you. But you’ve dealt with his type many times before and you have some tricks up your sleeve.
Billy hates that you don’t react to his taunting. You just smile and laugh.
“F*g!”
“You too?! Wanna go on a date, darling? Bad boys with pretty hair are totally my type, Hargrove.”
His words don’t work, so he changes his tactics.
You’re walking through an empty hallway when he attempts to grab you and slam you against the wall. Only to find himself on the floor completely immobilized. He had no clue you had trained in various martial arts.
Putting the pain aside, Billy is turned on by the feeling of being dominated, he feels himself hardening against the cold floor.
You lean down and whisper in his ear, “think twice before daring to touch me, pretty boy.” You let him go.
One side of him wants to fight but when he sees the determination and fearlessness in your eyes he backs down. “This isn’t over,” he huffs and leaves stomping the floor.
Tumblr media
Billy leaves you alone after that. He only glares at you and curses at you under his breath. He hates that he can’t stop thinking about that day. He hates that he enjoyed being under your control. He hates how he can only cum to images of you. But at this exact moment he hates seeing you with Steve laughing.
You feel his eyes on you, how they follow you as you move. When you face him his face hardens and his fists clench, but there’s something in his eyes you can’t decipher.
One day you’re alone in the showers, or so you think. You turn and see Billy checking you out from the other side, completely frozen. You notice his hard-on and his eyes open wide. He thinks you’ll say something but you just smile and wink at him. He leaves hurriedly trying to control himself.
That confirms your suspicions and you know what is up with Billy. You’ve met guys with internalized homophobia, but never like Billy.
After that, teasing Billy becomes one of your favourite activities. You pay him visits at the pool, making sure he gets a nice view of you. You notice when he covers his lap with his magazine, and tries to focus on something else.
“Why do we come to the public pool? We both have pools at home,” Steve complains. Robin laughs at the clueless boy, and proceeds to explain the situation.
Tumblr media
One day Billy finds you alone and he attempts to make a move on you. He was so confident believing you’d accept his advances.
“I’m not some desperate lonely gay boy, Billy. I don’t bend over for any hot guy that offers me his dick.” “So you think I’m hot?” He smirks. You scoff leaving him there.
Billy hates that you rejected him. How is it possible? He thinks of the guys he tormented and then fucked back in California, how easy they fell to their knees for him.
Billy has never met a gay guy as confident and unafraid as you. Deep inside he feels jealous and admiration for you. He secretly wishes he could be as open and be free as you.
Tumblr media
You get paired for a project, you are prepared to do all the work and let him take part of the credit. You’re shocked when he asks if you want to get together to work on the project. You’re even more shocked when you learn that he actually understands the material and is quite smart.
Against your better judgement you invite him to your place. You’re surprised he shows up on time.
When he greets your parents, it’s like he’s a completely different person. He laughs at your dad’s jokes, compliments your mom, and even asks about what they are working on.
Billy is even more jealous of you when he sees how loving and caring your parents are, how happy and peaceful your home life is.
Tumblr media
The second time he comes over he has to excuse himself and go to the bathroom to splash some water on his face and calm down. All he can think of is everything you have that he doesn’t.
He finds you and your parents sitting tightly together as your mother reads a book out loud in french for you and your dad.
“Sit down honey, I’ll translate for you,” your mother says.
By the fourth day he accepts your parents’ invitation to stay for dinner. He has fun, he’s fascinated by your parents’ stories and their research work.
You get a glimpse of the real Billy and can’t help but smile.
Tumblr media
One day during dinner your mother talks about your exes trying to embarrass you, and asks Billy if there’s a special boy in his life.
Billy’s breath hitches and starts to sweat. He stands up quickly bumping into the table, saying he has to leave.
Your mom tries to apologise and your dad asks him to stay.
You follow him outside the house. “Billy, wait!”
He turns around to face you and his eyes are red as he tries to hold in the tears. “Hey, it’s all—“ “I’m not a... I’m not.” he grunts before getting in his car and speeding off.
Billy parks somewhere secluded and hits the steering wheel with his fists, he cries and yells in anger. He’s angry, sad, jealous.
He cries for his mom, for a life he wishes he had, for the love and support he yearns for.
Tumblr media
Billy returns the following week to finish the project. He plans to just focus on the project, finish it and never return.
Your mom answers the door. “So good to see you, love, we’ve missed you,” she says warmly rubbing his arm, “sorry about the other day”. He almost doesn’t hear the last sentence, he hasn’t heard those words or felt that way in a long time. Someone being happy to see him, missing him, calling him love.
Your dad greets him and calls him son, and asks him to join him later in the study to show him their latest findings.
You and Billy don’t talk about what happened. You focus on your project.
“Have you always been out to your parents?” Billy blurts out.
You decide to be honest. “Yeah, they sort of figured it out when I was little.” You tell him how growing up you met all kinds of people through your parents. You tell him about your parents’ gay friends that you call uncles and aunts. Telling him how you always felt free to be yourself with your parents even though you know the world is cruel and unaccepting.
After a moment of silence Billy speaks. He talks about the only openly gay person he ever met, a friend of his mom back in California. He tells you about how his father hated his mom’s friend and got in fights with his mom about it.
He tells you about his dad, how aggressive and angry he is. He doesn’t tell you about the physical abuse. He went on about how unhappy he was, and how different your lives were.
You start to see why Billy acts the way he does. Bullying others is his way to feel he is in control.
“How do you do it?”
“What?”
“Being gay like that, you don’t hide.”
“We only live once, I’m not gonna let a world full of bigots tell me I can’t be myself and be happy.” You pause. ”Billy? You can always be yourself here.”
Tumblr media
After you finish your project, Billy keeps coming to your place to hang out.
He’s more relaxed and tones down the attitude. He even starts being nice to Max.
He’s still the bad boy to everyone else, but when he enters your home all that stays outside.
You learn more about the real Billy. How he likes science and music. How curious he is. How funny he can be. And you slowly start to fall for this Billy.
Tumblr media
One day Billy and you are in the living room listening to music lying on the carpet and giggling when your mom comes in. “Honey, your friends are here.”
You both look up and see a shocked Steve and the kids, and a grinning Robin. Max is especially shocked by the whole scene.
“Oh hey guys, you know Billy, right? We’re just listening to this new album.”
Billy panics, and stands up to escape, “I have to go.” You understand, not wanting to force him into anything.
The others sit down looking suspiciously at Billy as he leaves. Billy avoids all eye contact. “What did I get himself into?” Billy thinks.
Meanwhile Robin and you have each other’s arm over your shoulders as you sing dramatically.
“Is anyone going to talk about how you were on the floor giggling with Billy Hargrove?” Mike asks.
Tumblr media
One rainy night, Billy is driving to your house. His eyes sting, his knuckles turn white gripping the wheel. He feels his cheek and eye starting to swell. He stays on the driveway debating on what to do. He sees your bedroom light on and goes to ring the bell hoping that you open the door.
It’s your mom that opens the door. “Billy? Come on in, love, you’re soaking wet.” When he steps into the lit hallway your mom finally sees his face. “Oh my god, sweetheart. What happened?”
“Who is it darling? Oh Billy!  Are you okay, son?” Your dad asks him.
Billy wants to lie, he had this planned, he would have said how he got into a fight with another guy and didn’t want to go home looking like that. “I got—I...” he tries. But he can’t keep it in anymore. “It was... My—my dad...” he chokes as he lets out a cry.
He feels two sets of arms engulf him, and he lets is all out. He cries like he’s never cried before. He thinks he hears your name being called. He hears your parents’ voices, encouraging and supportive words he can barely make up. He cries even more when he think of how these people that he met not long ago care more about him than his own father.
You find your parents consoling Billy. Your mom is holding him while your dad rubs circles on his back. And Billy holds on to them like his life depends on it.“Billy?” He looks up to you and you see his broken face, all the pain and suffering he has endured and your heart breaks for him.
You help him get up and walk him to the living room. Your dad goes to prepare the guest room and your mother prepares some tea. Billy is curled into a ball under a blanker with his head on your lap. You run your hand through his hair as you rub his arm comfortingly.
When he calms down, he starts telling you of everything his dad has done. All the punches, the bruises, the hurtful words.
Later you take him to the guest room, you help him get his clothes off and rub some medicine over his bruises.
“Can you stay with me?”
“Of course.”
You hold him close, his face pressed on your chest.
For the first time in a long while Billy sleeps peacefully.
Tumblr media
After that day your parents take action, they’re on the phone with their lawyers, looking at how they can help Billy and Max.
Your parents help him get custody of Max.
The both of them move in with your family.
“Can’t believe you’re taking me to live with your boyfriend,” Max tells him. “He’s just a friend,” he groans. “Yeah, right.”
That night Billy is in your bed as you read to him, his head on your lap. “Thank you,” he says pulling your book down to look at you. “What for?” You ask, running a hand through his hair. “For saving me, and Max.” You smile and kiss his forehead and continue with the story.
Tumblr media
In the morning you wake up to Billy facing you, looking at you and he smiles.
“You okay?” He nods and reaches for your hand, holding it tightly as he scoots closer to you.
You move a loose strand of hair behind his ear, caressing his cheek, feeling how soft his skin is.
You two stay like that for a while just enjoying each other’s warmth in silence, playing with your hands and looking into other’s eyes. Neither of you can’t stop smiling.
“I love you, (y/n).”
“I love you too, Billy.”

“I just don’t want tonight to end.” - prompt requested by @honeysides before the tunglr incident. thank you, Ash!
words: 2.2k
rating: m
warning: fluff and very MINOR SPOILERS for No Way Home
a/n: i really really wanted to write something after watching. maybe not exactly canon to my m*u??? but 🙃. also proof-read like once so sksks
“Remember, nothing too scary.”
“Daddy, I’m almost nine years old. I can handle a horror movie.” Dia said confidently, head held up high.
She’d been looking forward to watching something scary the whole time trip, especially with Harry since he’d be back in his college apartment once they got back to New York. So Norman didn’t blame Dia for wanting to spend some more time with her big brother, they’d all miss him.
Norman smiled and kissed her forehead. “Ok but promise me you’ll stop watching if it becomes too much.” He turned to Harry who sat beside Dia on the couch, in the living room of the villa they were staying in. “You’re in charge, Harry. At least change the movie to something else if it’s too scary.”
Harry waved him off. “Dad, we’ll be fine. And yes, volume down so we don’t wake Tali and Danny.”
Norman smirked. His two oldest kids seemed like they knew what they were doing then, and he wasn’t going to ruin the fun on their last day before flying back.
“Ok, ok.” he said, admitting defeat. “Good night, kids. Fridge is filled with snacks, go crazy.” They both said Night, dad! as Norman headed out the door, walking to the adjacent villa he and his wife were staying at.
As he opened the door, he was greeted by Kennedy’s radiant smile, always seeming to stop him in his tracks when he saw it, knowing it was directed at him.
Kennedy crossed her arms over her chest. “So, how’s movie night?” she teased.
Norman walked over to her, gathering her in his arms, smiling at her. “Well if we hear screaming later, that’s on them.”
She snorted before resting her head on his chest. “They’ll be fine, hon. Who knows when we’ll all get to spend time with Harry again?”
Norman sighed heavily, remembering the weekends Harry missed at home despite living in the same city, all because he was busy with his college life. “He’s working hard.” Norman said, “I’m proud of him.”
Kennedy smiled against his chest. “I am too.” She looked up at him with her brown eyes, lips curled up in a smirk. ”He’ll be a fine CEO one day, don’t you think?”
He grinned smugly. “It does run in the family.”
She huffed out a laugh but then stopped herself suddenly, covering her mouth. Norman couldn’t help but think how adorable that looked.
“Sorry,” she said. “I just got Natalia and Daniel to fall asleep.” she pointed to the door behind her, where their two youngest were. Which reminded him, little Tali was turning two soon and they still needed to plan her birthday.
And if he was late to another birthday party because he was out being the Goblin, his wife was going to let him sleep in his study again.
He still remembered the amused look on Harry’s face when his son saw him lying on the couch in his pajamas the last time that happened. This is why I go to her for relationship advice and not you, Harry had said then.
Kennedy cupped his cheek with one hand, shaking him out of his thoughts, her soft touch making him hitch his breath. “Thank you, for this trip.” she said softly. “It was nice to spend all this time together.”
He took the hand holding him and pressed his lips to her wrist. “We’ve all been very busy, we deserved the break.” He laughed. “Hell, even Dia with all those science projects she had to do.”
His wife’s brows furrowed. “Speaking of which, you know she almost got in trouble for that little science project you helped her with.”
Norman shrugged. “Yeah but she told me no one got hurt and she had fun!” he defended, making sure to keep his voice low so as to not wake their youngest daughter and son.
“Honey, you built a laser, for a science fair for eight year-olds.” she deadpanned.
“And she was the most impressive eight year-old there!” he countered.
In all fairness, Norman may have helped out more than was deemed necessary, but Dia watched him in awe, asking lots of questions and trying to understand what he was building. He was proud of her interest in science and hoped that continued to manifest.
Either way she had a job waiting for her at OsCorp when she was older.
Kennedy rolled her eyes. “Ok, you win. And thank you for helping her.”
She pressed her lips to his, and it was meant to be a quick peck but Norman followed after her as she tried to pull away, lingering the kiss, coaxing her mouth open and grunting as she gasped.
He pulled away slowly, gazing at her with a hungry look in his blue eyes. “While our kids aren’t freaking out or crying, it seems we have some time for ourselves, hm?” he whispered huskily.
Kennedy’s eyes twinkled mischievously and goddamn she was gorgeous, did she have any idea what her looking at him like that even did to him?
She hummed thoughtfully. “Seems so. What should we do?” She asked innocently.
Norman pulled her body closer to his own, squeezing her hips and trailing kisses on her neck. “Whatever you want, Kenny.” he said against her neck, delirious with the scent of her, rose petals and lilies.
She moaned and that just made his kisses rougher. “I was going to take a nice bath next actually.”
He grinned, nipping at her ear. “More than enough room in that tub for two, you know.” he teased, hiking her dress up and hooking his fingers underneath her panties, touching her core.
He counted it a success when she shivered and pushed her hips forward, whimpering. All he had to do was carry her to their bathroom and -
“Mrs. Osborn, ma’am”. The intercom in their villa crackled to life, the voice of one of the guards connecting.
Norman sighed in frustration, fingers still on his wife. Kennedy smiled apologetically, pressing a quick peck to his nose before pulling away and fixing herself before answering the call.
“Yes?” she asked, and Norman didn’t miss how slightly out of breath she sounded, his ego inflating.
“You have a Krispy Kreme delivery here. Should I bring them up to your villa?”
Norman blinked. She had a what delivery?
Kennedy’s eyes brightened like a child’s on Christmas morning. “Yes, please! Thank you!”
She skipped happily to the front door, already waiting for her delivery. On the way she passed by Norman, who stared at her in disbelief, brows furrowed.
“Sorry what just happened?” he asked, confusion etched on his face. Was Krispy Kreme a codename for something? He didn’t even think they had one of those this close to the resort they were staying in.
Kennedy looked at him over her shoulder as she opened the door. “I ordered donuts, hon.”
That just confused him more as he blinked rapidly, walking up to his wife. “Yes but… we have Krispy Kreme in New York.” he said lamely. Couldn’t she have just asked the resort if they served their own donuts?
“And there’s Krispy Kreme here in Greece. I asked and they said they deliver to this place so…” she shrugged casually like that was all the explanation Norman needed.
But Norman continued to stare at her and Kennedy finally relented, smiling at him. “The book I read to Tali and Danny before they fell asleep was about a bakery, there were donuts in it and I started craving.” she said sheepishly.
Norman shook his head playfully. Ok then, enough said.
He kissed his wife’s cheek before moving in front of her, collecting the box of donuts from the guard. He thanked the man before closing the door and turning back to his wife, who looked up at him expectantly.
“Am I asking for too much if I want that bath with you first before we eat?” he said playfully. He was a bit peckish himself but who knows when they’d get some alone time again that night. Tali and/or Danny could wake up soon and if they were as restless as the night before, he and Kennedy would be making room in their bed again for the little ones.
Kennedy smiled. “Because I love you, we can compromise and bring the donuts with us to the bathroom, hm?” she said before snatching the box from him and running across to their bedroom, reaching the bath.
Norman stood frozen by the front door for a few moments, hands still outstretched in front of him where previously there was a box of delicious donuts.
His wife did almost always get her way in the end. Maybe a solid ninety-seven percent of the time, not that he was complaining.
Heaven knows she was usually right too.
He followed after Kennedy, who already started drawing a bath for them, donuts dry and safe on a table beside the tub. He had half a mind to tease her that the donuts would get soggy with how much they’ll be moving around in the bathtub but then Kennedy might take that seriously and just take her snack and her beautiful self outside.
See this was why you think before you speak.
Norman approached his wife from behind, moving her jet black hair away to one side so he could press kisses to her neck, sucking and biting her skin gently.
Kennedy moaned and tilted her neck to give him better access, and fuck, she made such a soft sound when he kissed her shoulder, removing her dress’ strap and baring more of her skin to him. He needed her, bath drawn or not.
She turned around towards him, lifting his chin from her shoulder up to her face to capture his lips in hers. Norman growled into the kiss, biting softly and making her whimper.
“I gotta have ya, Kenny.” he whispered in his gravelly voice, pleading with his wife in between kisses.
Kennedy’s hands went to his chest, fingers fumbling with the buttons of his shirt until they were all undone and he moved out of it, tossing it somewhere onto the marble floor.
He pulled away to breathe and help her out of her dress but Kennedy kept her arms around him, hands behind his head and keeping him close.
“I love you, Norman.” she said softly, and Norman’s heart soared, hearing the adoration and love in her voice. It was the most beautiful melody, and every day he took a moment to reflect on how lucky he was, knowing this goddess he worshipped chose him, made a family with him.
Kennedy moved her hands from his hair down to his cheeks. “I love you,” she repeated and he drank it in, like a man living in darkness that was pulled into the warmth of the sun. “I love our family and it may just be me being sentimental but I just… I just don’t want tonight to end.” she confessed, shaking her head and looking up at him with a sad smile.
He kissed her, slow and tender, before resting his forehead on hers. He knew what she meant, that after tonight, they’d all have to go back to their ‘big city’ lives, Harry and Dia in school, and him with his work.
They all needed that vacation, especially Harry who got to spend time with not just Dia, but with his baby sister and brother. Seeing the family smile and laugh together was a beautiful sight, one worth treasuring forever.
Norman didn’t even want to think about how fast time would fly and it was Dia’s turn to go off to college.
“I understand completely. I promise we’ll do this again soon.” he said reassuringly. And he meant it. They all could use the break from the city a bit more often.
Kennedy’s lips curled up into a smile, one bright and hopeful like clear skies after a storm. “That sounds like a plan.” Then she laughed, the beautiful sound taking his breath away. “And bring the glider next time, that’d be more fun than anything they have in an amusement park.”
Norman tsked. “You see I knew you married me for the gadgets. I feel used, darling.” he teased.
Kennedy snorted, shoving him playfully. “You’re right, you being very attractive is just a bonus. ” she mocked, a grin on her face.
Norman’s blue eyes shined mischievously, seeing that Kennedy was in a better mood as well. He trailed his hands up her arms, barely touching her and making her shiver. “Now,” he started huskily. “I remember my wife wanted a bath.”
Kennedy smirked, her hands exploring his chest. “She does, only if her husband will join her.”
He grinned and pressed his lips to hers.
---------------------------------------------
“Mr. Osborn? Norman?”
Norman shook his head and blinked rapidly, his gaze turning from the table’s surface to the nice woman sitting beside him.
May frowned. “Are you ok? You spaced out there for a while.” she asked, concerned.
Norman gave her a small hesitant smile. “I, I’m fine, thank you.” he said, stuttering and unconvincing.
“You sure? You’re safe here at the F.E.A.S.T Center, I promise.” May said, smiling reassuringly and Norman had to give it to her, she seemed truly nice and trustworthy.
He glanced back at the pink box of donuts on the table.
“Just…”
This isn’t home.
Where are my kids?
Where is my wife?
Are they ok?
Please God let them be ok. Let me see them again.
“Thinking of a good place to go for vacation.”

Assorted Sylki headcanons:
General
Loki is genderfluid, and goes by multiple prounouns, but I’m not sure about Sylvie. Perhaps she is fluid as well, or maybe she’s cis, agender or a trans woman. My current head-canon is that she is AMAB and uses she/they prounouns.
They are both bi/pan (duh), though I headcanon Loki as gray-aro and possibly poly. Once again not sure about Sylvie.
They have a lot of the same hobbies. Both being huge fans of literature, history, science and the arts.
This leads to lots and lots of deep and nerdy conversations.
Ultimate power couple. Could probably take down Thanos by themselves if they teamed up. They laugh together, they fight together, they teach eachother magic and learn some together as well.
I feel like they would develop some healthy competition here. They love eachother enough to be more proud than jealous if one learns something faster or is more natural at a specific skill.
They totally fight for Mobius’s attention. Mobius is just very happy to have two Loki variants in his life to study. (And be besties with of course)
I’m not saying they adopt kid Loki, but I’m not not saying it either...
They have thier ups and downs but always come back to eachother. They are literal soulmates, after all.
Emo
They still ask eachother if they’re okay.
Loki writes her poetry and reads and/or sings her to sleep. She likes to give him massages or use her enchantment to soothe him.
They love slow dancing, though it takes a little effort to get Sylvie onto the dance floor in public. Their song is “if you love me” by Brenda Lee.
He tells her everything about Asgard, reteaches her Asgardian, tells her about the life she could have had. She tells him tales of things she’s seen and he could only dream of.
Then Loki takes her to Asgard. She gets to meet his family. Perhaps they even manage to go back and meet hers.
Loki helps Sylvie trust again, and teaches her how to have fun and be vulnerable. He is the only person she will cry around.
Sylvie helps Loki love himself and opens him up to life paths and ways of thinking he isn’t used to.
I don’t think they’ll have thier happy ending, as much as I want them to. As much as they deserve. So when they are inevitably parted, they console themselves with the knowledge that somewhere, sometime, they are eternal.
But even eternity isn’t forever. In that eternity, they die hand in hand.
Mischief
They cause a LOT of trouble at family gatherings and similar events. They crashed Sif and Valkyrie’s wedding. The heros, Dr. Strange in particular, are fucking fed up with them. The Peters love them.
Everyone is weirded out by their relationship but still somehow ships it. They receive lots of teasing and “go fuck yourself” jokes, as well as the odd “stop touching yourself and concentrate.” Thor definitely finds it weirdest.
Sick of people assuming they’re related, Loki and Sylvie start playing along and introduce themselves as siblings just to see the horror on people’s faces when they’re caught kissing.
But sometimes they’ll use illusion projection to have some (Ahem) fun in public and/or avoid being walked in on.
Matching outfits. Enough said. Honestly if we don’t get to see both of them donning the full costume in season two...
They shape shift into eachother sometimes to either annoy other people or annoy eachother. On a smaller scale, they’ll sometimes switch their hair colors or headpieces for a laugh.
Trick tournaments. They know eachother so well that is nearly impossible to lie to the other. So they make a challenge of it. They compete to see who can prank or fool who first. The winner gets a...ahem...special treat that night. They’re both incredible actors, so these games get intense.
They tease eachother constantly. This banter can get quite mean, but they both know it’s out of love.
Spicy (18+)
These two have two kinds of sex: tearful, tender lovemaking, and the wildest kinkiest shit conceivable. We’re talking shapeshifting, consensual enchantment, illusions, knife play, and some of the strangest and most messed up foreplay you can imagine.
Some of their faves include King and Queen (on Asgard’s throne), twincest (you know they would), conjuring an illusion they’re fucking in front of everyone they know...walking around in public appearing naked to eachother but clothed to everyone else...
It’s also very good sex. They know exactly what the other wants and how. And they have a lot of it. Everywhere. And in the strangest places. You can’t even imagine the situations they’ve been caught in.
Oh and they’re both switches. Sometimes he’ll dominate her and she’ll finally trust someone else to be in control. Sometimes she’ll peg him. Remind him just how powerful she is, as if he needs reminding.
Loki does this all the time, but sometimes Sylvie will change up her genitals for a twist. Or her species.
When it’s rough, it’s rough. Scratching, screaming, roughhousing, biting. Lots and lots of biting.
When it’s tender, it’s tender. Loki whispers softly in asgardian. Sylvie admits things she never has before. They trace patterns on skin. Kiss tears away.

The Strange Case of The Strangetown Metamorphosis
There is a mysterious Sim that appears in Strangetown.
That's like saying "there is a fish that appears in the ocean", I know, so I'll be a little more specific.
They are an adult whose memories show inconsistencies with those of their family members. Something is missing!
Alright. That's also not saying much, that's like half of the premades in vanilla, non-clean hoods.
They are immediately recognizable by their appearance and, dare I say it, have distinguishing features unique to them.
Well, that also kinda fits everyone...
They feature in more than one installment of the series.
Again, not that helpful. I mean, almost everybody from the base game hoods is (for better or worse) represented in TS3 or TS4.
They appear in TS2 for PSP!
Hmm...
They are a member of a wealthy family connected to science and paranormal.
And...
They are somehow connected to (possible) cloning.
I imagine that now you’re probably rolling your eyes and asking: Why didn’t I just simply say I was going to talk about Bella Goth?
Because... I’m not!
Tumblr media
It’s Loki Beaker. In this mini-essay I’m going to speak about Loki, what is the mystery around him, what hints are there and what are some of the theories and which one do I fancy.
It’s basically a routine round of the popular game “connect EAxis’ oversights and glue them together into a headcanon”.
So without further ado, let me introduce you to:
The Mystery of Loki Beaker!
0: Preface: Loki who?
“As soon as he perfects his latest invention, Loki is sure to get the recognition he knows he deserves. In the meantime, he keeps himself busy by trying to assemble a nuclear reactor out of common household items.”
On the first glance, Loki as a Sim seems quite straightforward. He is a Knowledge Sim with a very eccentric personality. All his trait points are in the extremes, as you can see:
Tumblr media
He is a scientist, a competent one at that, as proven by his high career level and the fun fact that some of the game’s horrible machinery you can buy for Aspiration points is attributed to his creation.
(It explains why are the Beakers the only ones who have the stuff lying around by default. It is normal for a Strangetown family to own a non-buyable reward object or two but those are career rewards, the Beakers are the only one who canonically own Aspiration points rewards.)
Even though he knows his stuff when it comes to his profession, he is very corrupt and tests his questionable projects on his captive, Nervous Subject.
To say that Loki is unpopular would be an understatement. No one but his wife Circe likes Loki, even his own sister is indifferent towards him. Yes, he has a sister. Her name is Erin and she also lives in Strangetown with a colorful collection of roommates.
Nothing mysterious about him so far. (apart from his eyebrows)
1: Characterization fallen apart
And then The Sims 3 happened. It was actually quite late into the game’s life cycle, the early 2013, when a beautiful nordic-themed world was released on TS3 Store. Its name was Aurora Skies and it featured Loki, Erin and their parents.
TS3 Loki is a child and Erin is a toddler.
Now I haven’t actually played Aurora Skies. I own (and love) TS3 but the price range for the Store worlds is too high for me, content-to-money wise. So there might be some hidden clues about the Beakers in their house or relationship panels that I haven’t been able to inspect but... not to sound cynical but I doubt it. I doubt such attention was given to detail of this family in Aurora Skies, as they don’t even have individual bios.
But... that is... fine? I mean, we have Loki’s TS2 bio...
Nope. Sure we do. And it would be fine if hair color and ambitions weren’t the only thing Loki and his younger self (from now on referred to as smol Loki) had in common.
Let’s take a look on smol Loki’s personality.
Tumblr media
The first noticeable thing is that there is not a trace of Loki’s trademark villainy. He’s not Mean Spirited, he’s not Evil, he’s not even a No Sense of Humor Sim. His extreme neatness and hyperactivity are nowhere to be seen either. While it is true that TS3′s capabilities of defining personality are very limited as it picks “outstanding points” rather than a position of each trait on a scale, and it only has 5 slots (and tiny teeny 3 for children), it doesn’t make any sense still for the devs not to pick some more loki-esque traits for the precious slots they had.
Unless...
They didn’t care about Loki’s personality and there were no deeper intentions.
Unless the devs were trying to purposefully show us new angles of his character that either got suppressed while he was growing up, or manifest in ways that TS2′s scale system wasn’t able to show.
Could the Lucky trait in particular have had something to do with the change?
(Also, those traits of smol Loki are reason why I usually go for a Family Secondary Loki in TS2 and thus make Strangetown the purgatory of two unstable blonde Knowledge/Family sciency guys.)
We also must not omit that even though smol Loki didn’t display any of them, he still had all of Loki’s signature traits in him, as Loki in TS2 has his actual personality synced with the genetic one, meaning that there was something in there that caused him not to act so mean that got lost as he grew up. In other words, something brought up the worst in him.
And that’s not all. Smol Loki is not a regular TS3 child. You see, in TS3, premade children aren’t particularly known for being highly skilled experts. Neither are in TS2, for that matter, and it’s okay. It’s realistic.
Tumblr media
Smol Loki has a skill maxed.
It is very rare for a premade regardless of age to already start with a maxed skill and I personally don’t know of any other premade children that do.
And it’s writing.
What does writing have to do with Loki? Does Loki write? Probably he has to, those academic papers aren’t gonna spawn out of thin air, but that’s not what the writing skill in TS3 (or the hidden writing skill in TS2) are about. They’re about creative writing only.
Ok, ok. How high is Loki’s Creativity skill, then? In TS2, skills are much broader, they more resemble skillsets than individual skills, and writing categorizes under Creativity. Bring out the skill panel!
Tumblr media
Two. He has 2 points in Creativity. That is... low. That is actually very low, especially for a Sim that has supposedly been writing for fun since childhood. (and was a prodigy, while we’re at it) It is safe to say, I think, that if the player doesn’t make him do it, Loki doesn’t write anymore and he hasn’t been doing that for a long, long time.
While I would cynically admit that the dissonance in personalities might be just the lack of damns given from EAxis’ side, this seems to me too on the nose to be unintentional.
They would have no reason to bring the Beakers back without the “evil scientists” thing in mind. I mean, that’s what they’re iconic for. That’s what they’re recognizable by. (apart from their eyebrows)
So the person who was in charge of creating smol Loki probably knew they were recreating “Loki the mad scientist”.
So when they were picking the skill they use to demonstrate that this kid is gonna go far, they thought... “evil scientist = writing”...?
I would understand going for Creativity in general. I mean, Loki’s an inventor. That comes with the territory. But creativity as such isn’t really a skill in TS3. It’s divided to different activities.
Wouldn’t it make more sense just in general to pick logic, then? I mean, Loki isn’t that extremely logical by default but it is his second strongest skill and a feature unmistakably connected to being a scientist.
That’s what leads me to believe that writing plays a role in the story and it was chosen on purpose.
So how did a sweet little family-oriented boy talented with words transform into the ruthless catboy inventor we know and love?
And that, my friends, is the mystery of Loki Beaker.
2: A closer look at our environmentalist friends, the Beakers
If we want to get the full picture and come to a satisfying conclusion of some sorts, we need to inspect smol Loki’s surroundings. Maybe there is a clue to the continuous force or a traumatic event that shifted smol Loki’s direction in life?
Loki’s and Erin’s parents are named Gundrun and Bjorn. Even though their age would still allow it, they’re not present at the start of TS2′s Strangetown play, they’re long dead. Bjorn died before Erin became an adult and Gundrun died shortly before her son’s engagement to Circe. Because they died by the time Loki had (presumably) already long enrolled in his current life-path, we can safely rule out any tragic early death of parental figures scenario as a possible answer.
Gundrun is the only Beaker that canonically also writes. She has 5 points in the writing skill. She also shares some traits with Loki, namely the smarts and ambition.
Tumblr media
But she has little to do with science and is way more business-oriented which is a trait she shares with Circe’s ancestors, for example her father. Maybe the families knew each other from business ventures even before they moved to Strangetown? It is stated in their memories that Loki and Circe first met when they were children. But I digress!
Anyway, I don’t see anything in Gundrun that would suggest any abusive behavior towards her son that might have triggered his drastic change. Possibly but not necessarily she might’ve been a bit absent but nothing out of ordinary.
And now the father, Bjorn.
Tumblr media
Bjorn is the sciency half of the couple and works as an Aquatic Ecosystem Tweaker. Again, he has zero traits that would raise any red flags and he shares 4 out of 5 traits with either smol Loki or Loki. (I don’t know if Loki is a natural cook” but he cooks quite well, so I think that counts.)
What’s interesting about Bjorn, though, is his speech that serves as a flavor text for the Aurora Skies store page.
Tumblr media
(Image transcript: “Do it for science! Science is everywhere around us, but at Aurora Skies it’s not just something you learn; it’s something you do!  We need bright young minds to make the dreams of the future a reality. Even now we’re finding more uses for garbage to help the planet. Charging batteries, powering machines - the sky is the limit. Just this last year we created a modified Hot Air Baloon using garbage as fuel and turning it into pure air with a pine breeze scent.  Now you can have efficient travel and an amazing romantic adventure with no cost to the ozone (or your nose)! Every year we’re creating more and more exciting things in the world of science. Garbage-powered hearts, heart-powered cars, solar-powered cats; what will you think of next!  It’s all up to you. Do it for Science! Did you know? Hot Air Balloons are an epic form of travel based around the simple principle that hot air is lighter than cold air.  They lift in the air based on the heat system in the balloon. Increasing the temperature of the air inside the balloon makes it lighter than the air outside and the balloon begins to float.  More air is required to lift heavier things; that’s why the balloons have to be so huge! How cool (or hot!) is that?”)
From this piece of text we can see Bjorn’s passion and dedication to “green” science. Nothing in his traits suggests he fakes it, so I think it’s safe to believe that this peppy idealist is a glimpse into Loki’s father’s genuine self.
He might have encouraged his children to follow in his footsteps (”We need bright young minds to make the dreams of the future a reality.“) and smol Loki, who later in life seemed to have similar levels of enthusiasm (science is his One True Hobby), might have been receptive to that.
Now just close your eyes for a second and imagine an alternate reality in which Loki picked up where Bjorn left and instead of a energy-refilling machine that electrocutes you if you’re not happy enough, he invented “solar-powered cats”.
Still no hints on what could’ve messed Loki up, though.
Let’s take a look at the parents in TS2. Even though they’re not present and aren’t even resurrectable, they’re still coded in the game for purposes of genetics, memories and family trees, so some of their characteristics are salvageable.
And by the Watcher, they were both Romance Sims.
They were workaholic Romance Sims who cared about the environment and liked recycling (and Hot Baloons).
And they were both extremely Nice and very Sloppy, if their personalities on wiki are something to go by. Which they unfortunately aren’t, at least not completely because most ancestors don’t simply have “their own” personalities and use presets instead, so they tend to be quite similar.
The same goes for most of the Beaker clan, unfortunately. Fun fact is that there is no Knowledge Sim in sight (before Loki, of course). Maybe they weren’t a scientist family, but a bunch of Romance Sims who used to spend their free time in between woohoos saving the planet with eco-science. (3 out of 6 of Loki’s and Erin’s ancestors were Romance Sims, 2 were Fortune and 1 was Family)
But! There is one outlier. Her name is Gertrude Beaker. She is Loki’s paternal grandmother.
And similarly to her grandson, she certainly has a personality to remember.
Tumblr media
She doesn’t use a preset, this is a personality that someone went and manually assigned (...or generated) for her. And she is Neat, Outgoing and doesn’t have a nice bone in her body. But unlike Loki, she has a sense of humor (which makes her even more dangerous, in my opinion) and is extremely Lazy.
She is a Fortune Sim and the only Beaker who shares the darker sides of Loki’s personality. (to be clear, I don’t mean their taste for cleaning but the round 0 of Nice points)
Because she doesn’t feature in TS3 at all, it is safe to say that she wasn’t in her grandchildren’s lives until the family moved to Strangetown. Could she be the corrupting influence on smol Loki?
As far as personality comparison goes, she seems to be the only possible culprit, the only one who’s personality shares the same unpleasant qualities he became infamous for. But! That’s not saying much. There is no evidence she actually did anything.
There’s not even any evidence that she ever met her grandson, given he has no memory of her dying which means she might have died before he was even born. That would be a solid evidence on the contrary and would rule her out. But I’m leaving some maneuvering space for theories here because she is the only Beaker ancestor with custom personality, after all, and that is suspicious.
That’s all the Beakers we know of if not counting Atom and Ceres, who came after Loki, so they’re not relevant to the question of his childhood. Or... are they?
3: And that’s when the trouble began
Another part of this question that might help us discern what happened to Loki is the when. All we know so far is that there is a big void of unknown between smol Loki and regular Loki and the point of transformation happened in there somewhere.
Thankfully, we have something to give us an idea. It’s this snapshot in storytelling pictures for the Beakers:
Tumblr media
It shows smol Loki destroying a dollhouse. It seems to be in an impersonal environment of some sorts. The cheapest bed in the game is against a bare white wall, the window is hid behind blue curtains and there doesn’t really seem to be anything else but the dollhouse, a teddy bear in the background and that... very unpleasant bed.
It clearly tells us that Loki’s shift started in his pre-teen years.
And seeing that room which is definitely not in the Beaker Castle at 1 Tesla Court, it makes me think of a hotel or a cheap apartment the family was staying in while moving from Aurora Skies to Strangetown. Maybe the castle-like something the household inhabits at the start of the game wasn’t a property of the Beakers at all, maybe that was where the Salamises used to live and now it belongs to Circe?
Anyway, could it had been leaving Aurora Skies that sent smol Loki down an existential crisis and settling in the not exactly welcoming environment of Strangetown, enrolling in a local school, that sealed it?
But why all the stuff with writing? This would work with any other hobby but somehow it had to be writing and it’s our task to find out why.
4: Not your average tragedy
Now in our search we already have some ideas but it wouldn’t be thorough if we didn’t take into account smol Loki’s actual personality. I mean, we went into what traits he doesn’t have but what about those he has?
Namely Lucky and Family-Oriented.
I think Lucky is a very interesting choice. There’s nothing inherent about Loki Beaker that would make you go “that’s one lucky guy!” (if you don’t count his relationship with Circe as a stroke of luck, that is) and the same goes for smol Loki.
But... it could be a clue. His metamorphosis either couldn’t be triggered by trauma because he’s lucky and it would avoid him, or it must’ve been something tremendously horrid so he’s lucky he’s still alive.
Now we know we are searching for something that happened in his late childhood, verging on the start of his teenage years. His family was going through the turmoil of moving to a desert and he has already known his future partner Circe. Meanwhile Erin-
Oh, wait. Erin.
Smol Loki was Family-Oriented which implies he would probably have a good relationship with his little sister, as he would’ve naturally inclined to protect her and help his parents take care of her. But!
Not only do they have an amicable but distant relationship as adults but Erin seems to forget that Loki even existed in her childhood.
He has the usual set of memories of a sibling growing up well but she doesn’t, she has no Loki-related memories at all, not even of his marriage, which was a quite recent event.
Could the reason for Loki’s “downfall” be somehow related to his sister? Was there a dramatic event in which she lost a part of her memory?
5: Theories!
Ok, we’re finally here! Now I try to present some theories about what might’ve happened.
1. Burdens of the golden child
In Aurora Skies, Loki used to be the little wonder every relative was gushing about. With his father as an acclaimed scientist and a very liked person in general, there was little to no adversity his son had to face. He followed his passion and having nobody to really compare himself to, nor anybody who would terrorize him, he prospered.
But then the Beakers moved. Strangetown was... different. It was way smaller than Aurora Skies, so everybody inherently knew everybody and everybody had to interact with everybody... because the small space of a desert community didn’t leave them with any choice. And it was bleak and unfriendly. No one except for the Salamises knew the Beakers, so they found themselves under scrutiny from their new neighbors.
So Loki, who used to live thinking he was unique, was now sitting everyday in a much smaller classroom with Pascal and Vidcund Curious, whom he was immediately being compared to. But he wasn’t like the Curiouses. He was a kid of a scientist but wasn’t a science kid. He didn’t have much in common with Pascal who approached him and tried to befriend him at first but he wanted to. In Strangetown, nothing seemed to be cooler than being really, really into science. Pascal’s and Loki’s communication attempts were rather poor, though, and in the end, they never made friends. Loki slowly began to disdain the oldest Curious boy and it culminated a few years later in high school when Pascal made an attempt to woo Circe. It was even worse with Vidcund. Ever since Loki’s first day at the new school, Vidcund had been eyeing him with a disgusted look and Loki became quick to reciprocate.
In Strangetown, nothing seemed to be cooler than being really, really into science. Even Circe was on it! She was the only person his age he has know in Strangetown before his family moved in and he liked her. Not “like” liked her, yuck! But he thought she was cool. Her family used to visit the Beakers in Aurora Skies and they played together. She was a friend! Or so Loki thought. She seemed to like hanging out with the Curiouses much more.
In Strangetown, nothing seemed to be cooler than being really, really into science, yes. But not in the eyes of Buzz Grunt, the son of a general who lived in Strangetown. Their family were the self-proclaimed protectors of the hood but at the same time they weren’t shy to show a strong distaste for all that made Strangetown an important desert settlement in the first place. And little Buzz, although Loki doubted he understood the nuances, was very fond of asserting his dominance over his less sporty and hyper-masculine classmates.
Suddenly jealous of the Curious brothers, under pressure from both the adults and his peers comparing him to them and bullied by Buzz, Loki’s social life fell apart. He started having problems... and he came up with solutions. He has always liked science but from back then on he hyperfixated on it to prove everybody who picked on him for being a worthless parody of a science kid wrong.
Not only his social life and self-confidence were busted, though. Moving away from Aurora Skies to Strangetown that had much higher prices for housing because of the limited space, the living standards for the Beakers lowered. It was chaotic and uncomfortable. Plus, almost everybody in Strangetown was loaded. Why, Circe and her parents lived in a small castle! Loki felt like they’re the only “poor” family around and it played into his new-found insecurities.
And then there was Erin’s accident. She suffered a severe head injury and even though she fortunately survived, she was never... the same. She had issues with her memory. Loki tried to convince himself that he’s big enough not to cry but when they were visiting Erin in the hospital and she didn’t recognize him, he cried. It was his little sister! And... it was all his fault anyway! If he was quicker and pushed her to safety, she would’ve been fine! Or even better, he wished the car would’ve hit him instead.
Loki was becoming more and more snappy, focused on his grades and projects, unavailable. The siblings never mended their relationship, Erin, even though she recovered, never got to make new memories with her brother. Not remembering them growing up together, he was like a stranger to her. A scary mean teenage boy she didn’t know and, even though she was a very friendly child, she was too intimidated to willingly spend time with him. And Loki was always busy and moreover, he felt guilty and inexplicably angry, so he postponed approaching her, until it was too late, he was in college, she was in high school and it was too awkward.
And... there was no time to write anymore.
2. Gertrude the Neat and Mean (and Lazy)
Ok, Loki doesn’t have any memories of his grandma. But hear me out! Erin does not have any of him either and yet they met. This theory doesn't require any additional write up – he simply got under the influence of his 0 Nice points granny and she cultivated him to be just like her.
My personal take: This is maybe my least favorite theory of them all, even though it is quite straightforward. It doesn't take much into consideration and demonizes Gertrude, who as far as we know, might not done anything wrong.
3. The accident
This theory takes advantage of TS3's canon sciency machinery, namely Cerebralizing Brain Enhancing Machine 2.0.
Tumblr media
It can, among other things, change a Sim's personality. There is (quite unfortunately, in my opinion) no chance of consequential failure in the actual game, the most it can do is to (non-fatally) electrocute your Sim. But...
Imagine smol Loki sneaking into his dad's laboratory, most probably at his workplace.
He was curious. Ever since his father showed him all the equipment in there, all he could think of was the machine that made people smarter.
Maybe it could make him smarter?
I mean, Loki knew he was already quite smart. At least, he's been told he was and he had no reason not to believe it.
But he could be even smarter.
He could be like his dad. Or his mom. Or Erin. Everyone was talking about how clever young Erin seemed. Loki was proud of her but part of him just wanted that, too.
So what if... he went to dad's laboratory, just for a little while, and made himself smarter?
He made all the necessary preparations. It meant to memorize dad’s schedule, so he knew just the time when he could sneak into the laboratory. It also meant to get a good costume so he won’t be recognizable on the security footage!
And then finally, he was ready. To infiltrate the laboratory was easy enough but it only made Loki more nervous. He was on the edge but determined. He wanted to make it big in the world. He needed to seize the opportunity. And fear... fear was there to be ignored! Hands, stop trembling!
His confidence grew a bit once he got to the machine itself. He knew how to run it thanks to his dad and it made him feel competent and ready.
Little did he know that there was a huge oversight. Although Loki could operate the technology on a very basic level, his knowledge went nowhere near deep enough for him to detect that the machine has yet another set of settings and those currently expect an adult user. It wasn’t configured for a child patient.
But unaware of that, the boy in his patchy dinosaur costume climbed on top of the machine and with his eyes wide open and his heart racing he connected the Brain Enhancer to his system. Then, with his hand sweating, he pushed a button on a remote he was clutching to.
When Bjorn, alerted by Loki’s screams, rushed into the laboratory, it was way too late.
As his terrified father was calling the ambulance, the child was alive and even still awake. He was too weak to cry. He just watched Bjorn, wishing for death and looking for signs of wrath in father’s eyes.
There were none. Only fear.
Physically, Loki Beaker managed to recover just fine. With the power of advanced medicine and plastic surgery, the burns he suffered were reduced to nothing but almost invisible scars.
But inside, he was never the same. Literally. Even though the procedure backfired horribly, it still worked to some extend - but even that extend was warped. Loki succeeded in giving himself the Genius trait but several of his traits were replaced also, including the Lucky trait that probably saved his life.
6: Conclusion!
I like Loki very much. (no sh*t, who would’ve guessed) He’s a very controversial and over-the-top character who tends to be rather unpredictable in the actual gameplay. I started writing this giant thing to find an answer to his backstory that would satisfy me and hopefully also some of you.
With a heavy heart I conclude I’m not successful.
Tumblr media
First I have to admit I originally planned to present 5 theories instead of 3 but I scrapped 2 of them.
First was about Atom time traveling and replacing Loki, creating himself again and again in a time loop (would explain the huge personality difference between smol Loki and Loki-Atom) and it was very far-fetched but fun, alas I realized it was out of character for Atom, since he seems to love his sister and his Plumbot so much he would hardly leave them behind to pull that off.
The second was about Nervous and the corrupting power of Death he has inside that would slowly drive Loki and Circe “evil” even though it’s unclear whether they first adopted him with being a lab-rat in mind. But it would not make sense since a change like that would be visible on their personality panels. That’s not that important, though. What made me not include this theory is that it feels uncomfortably victim blame-y. It’s not directly since it wouldn’t be Nervous’ fault anyway but any attempt to shift the blame from Loki and Circe in this situation feels uncomfortable.
(To be clear, I don’t think the Beakers deserve demonization. In my opinion, the best way to treat them narrative-wise is like eccentric people capable of feeling love and doing good things sometimes, yet irredeemably self-centered, morally bankrupt and deserving a lifetime in jail for child abuse they have done on Nervous. Not one-dimensional but still villains and still objectively bad people.)
And those 3 theories above? They could’ve been better.
I think I like the first the most, even though I still feel like something is missing. I just tend to like relatively grounded explanations and this one doesn’t feature the supernatural nor any deus ex machina gadget.
What about you? And do you have any other theories? Sky’s the limit! It’ll make my day to hear them!
Whatever your takes are, they’re all valid.

As they passed through mostly empty halls, with Heisenberg giving a makeshift tour of the facility, it was a wonder that Ethan didn’t choose to change his mind.
It was like watching a child present his science fair project, with enthusiasm and gusto that almost would have been touching, if not for the monstrosities he was presenting. The soldiers - Soldats, Heisenberg had told him, more accurately, though the distinction made little to no difference - had all been human, once, and now they were barely so, Frankenstiened together with old machinery powered by their mechanical hearts. Did robot monsters dream of revolution? ...Did they have any other choice? He tried not to let the thought bother him too much, but among the sounds of pumps and pistons operating the factory, that wasn’t too hard - the noise rattled his bones too much to make anything but that his concern.
Heisenberg stopped them at some point, near an elevator that he soon called for, leaving Ethan to wander somewhat closer to the edge of the walkway proceeding ahead of them. It was a long, deadly fall below, but across him was a view of the entire factory. An open, hellish space of disorganised chaos, conveyor belts of Soldats ascending to the top, where they would lie dormant and waiting for attack en masse, not another soul in sight amongst the mess of metal.
“Amazing, isn’t it?” The lord’s voice was enough to make Ethan jump with a quiet gasp. He did not flinch - he kept his hands in his pockets, looking at him over his sunglasses with a tilt of his head and a small smirk, before turning to the expanse that stretched before them. “I’ve been planning this for years, right under her nose. And she doesn’t know a damn thing.”
He swallowed, looking the man up and down, before following where he was now watching. “That’s, uh… well, that’s one way to put it, I guess.”
“...Having doubts?”
“If I said yes, would you push me off of this balcony?”
“Probably.”
“Alright then, no. I’m not.”
That got a laugh out of him, at the very least - one that seemed… almost genuinely entertained, and not a mocking one. Heisenberg leaned a shoulder against the wall nearby where he stood, crossing one leg over the other as he responded, with a touch of playful sarcasm, “Now that fills me with confidence.”
“Well, you and I both.”
They stared off in silence for a few moments, at the way the factory moved around them, as if they weren’t there. A revolution right in the face of the enemy… It was enough to make Ethan wonder just how long he was willing to wait for a miracle - how long would he have bided his time, if Rose had not been taken? Just how long was he willing to wait?
Before he could ask, however, the man cut the silence short. “How old is she?”
“What- who?”
“The kid, obviously. Sh’was tiny, so… didn’t think she was much older than newborn.”
Rose… Ethan swallowed, shifting the way he was standing against the edge. He shouldn’t be here, having pleasant conversation - or, as pleasant as you could get, with someone like Heisenberg. He should be out there, saving her. They both should. In the rush of everything, the father hadn’t had time to process just how badly his perfect family had been torn to pieces - until now, when he responded in a voice that was slightly strained,  “...Six months.”
“Christ. Miranda really didn’t waste time pouncing on her, huh?”
“Yeah… yeah.” His thumb pressed into his palm, along where metal met flesh, listening to the way the joints bent over the white noise of the factory in motion below them for miles. “She, uh… she liked the sun. And singing, god, she loved singing. Real good, too.”
“Ha, findin’ talent young… runs in the family?”
“God, no. Not from me, anyway. Mia… well, she is- ...was. She was alright. But that was more… more than enough.” His brow furrowed, before he closed his eyes with a sigh. “Why do you care, anyway?”
There was a hum of consideration for a moment, before the Lord replied (for a moment, Ethan swore he heard the uncertainty in his voice), “Maybe I wanna know what a happy family looks like.”
That was enough to make Ethan look up again, but by that point, any sense of doubt had been pushed back, and Heisenberg now stood strong, just as the elevator arrived. He gestured with a hand and a giddy, almost unnerving grin across his face, telling the man he ‘had a surprise’ in the basement.
Now, if that wasn’t a statement of betrayal, then Ethan didn’t know what was.
As he entered, standing beside the lord who seemed to be bouncing on his heels in anticipation, he reached into the inside of his coat (tattered, sticky from blood but, still, wearable, somehow) for his pistol, hoping the other man didn’t notice the way he tensed up. Better to be safe than sorry.
And for the most part, it seemed the other man was oblivious - he carried on his rambles about his revolution like it was nothing, almost more excited to have someone to confide in over the actual plan itself. It was… odd, because while it seemed obvious that someone so foreboding and intimidating would have no friends, even among his family, but he still seemed to retain some childish glee in him, despite the gravity of what he was explaining. Ethan watched the way he smiled, fanged teeth exposed behind scarred and chapped lips, and the way that he talked with his hands waving around, every so often looking back to make sure his companion was still following along, which he was. Barely. A part of him was almost sure that it would be the end of him if not, but the other was.., fascinated. Heisenberg certainly wasn’t like his siblings.
The elevator soon stopped with a slight grumble and a shake, opening its mouth to a dark hallway, too dark to see anything beyond two feet in front of them. Before the man could ask if there was a light, his wrist was already grabbed, and he was being dragged forward into the abyss. Blaring lights illuminated the way as they walked by, with Heisenberg’s heavy footfalls almost in a marching stride masking the way Ethan stumbled along behind him, struggling to keep up.
“Where are we going?” He asked, almost exasperated, tripping over his own feet momentarily before standing up to his full height, skipping a few steps as the other man had already taken them.
“You’ll see, you’ll see.” Uncharacteristically joyful, even for a sadistic man like himself, Heisenberg continued to almost skip through the hallways, turning so often that Ethan had lost track of where they were. Maybe that was the intention.
He was so dizzy and being carried by the momentum that when they did stop, he ended up crashing into the lord’s back, and stumbling with a grumble as he opened the door.
“You know,” he was practically purring as he spoke - low, and dangerous. “Not just anyone gets to see this sort of thing. Remember that, Ethan.”
“Are you… threatening me?”
“We’ll see.” Heisenberg shrugged, and the heavy door swung open, being held in place for Ethan to step through. “Ladies first.”
“Kiss my ass.” He replied quickly, trying to straighten himself as he stepped through, as if to mask the uncertainty and tenseness he held in his core, for… whatever was waiting for him in there.
And then he saw it. And while he wasn’t sure what he was expecting to find in that room (one large, but barren, like an enclosure, or even a cell), but it wasn’t… this.
It was a terrifying thing, with at least two feet on him in height, and two of him - period - in width. Body of an aeroplane engine, and a propeller to match on what should have been its face, with legs apparently strong enough to carry the mass of weight placed upon it but no arms that he could see. It grumbled like an animal, an engine playing as its voicebox, as it turned and growled at the sound of approaching footsteps, enough to make Ethan take a few precautionary steps away.
“Relax, Winters,” he seemed almost amused by the fear, before he held up a hand to the creature that could not see him, voice dropping to be harsher as he addressed it with the authority of a commander. “Down, boy. It’s me.”
The creature seemed… apparently receptive to his tone, enough for its growling to die down. It simply stood in place at the back of the room, emitting a low purr instead. Was it happy to see - ‘see’ - its master, or simply to have some company at all?
The man turned to Ethan with a grin, beckoning with a hand that it was safe to follow. And Ethan, clearly not being proficient in making smart decisions, did so hesitantly, getting closer to the thing, until he stood a few feet from the motionless propeller.
“And this bad boy,” The man slapped the side of the mechanical monstrosity, its engine whirring as either a sign of pleasure or disgruntlement, Ethan couldn’t tell. “Was what was gonna tear you apart if you didn't rub two brain cells together. Wasn’t what I wanted but, hey, makes a pretty good guard dog.”
He looked between Heisenberg and the creature, who seemed to idly move a little under its own weight, like any real person would. It was still purring. It was alive. “...Christ, you really are insane.”
“Sanity ain’t got a place in Miranda’s family, Ethan. You’ve realised that by now, right?”
Opening his mouth to say something, he paused, before making the probably smart decision to close it again, swallowing.
The Lord gave the creature another hefty pat, enough to push himself away again, hands moving into the pockets of his coat. “Sturm. It’s a force of nature, the name seemed fitting. C’mon, give ‘im a pet.”
“What?”
He grinned. “Oh come on, Ethan. It hasn’t killed you yet. Besides, it’s part of the tour experience. Welcome to the petting zoo, partner.”
This was just a game, and Ethan knew it. But he’d already made his choice to play, in exchange for his life.
He reached his hand out gingerly, seeming to move his body back as he did so, as if to put distance between it and the fingers on the other hand he thought he was about to lose to match the others. The feeling of warm metal against his palm made him flinch, but as the head seemed to almost nudge at him, he found himself glancing back, as the Sturm continued to press its face against his palm for a pet or two. Ethan raised an eyebrow. “...What the fuck?”
“I told you. It’s not smart enough to be upset. I bet it’s almost as scared of you as you are of it.” Heisenberg leaned against a nearby wall, folding his arms across his chest as he watched the man turn to face the creature, looking up at it.
His mouth hung open slightly as he moved to bring up his other hand, running it along the ridges of the engine on its other side, listening to the way the monster purred under his touch, still nudging him for more. There wasn’t any soft fur for him to scratch at, just a hard surface of metal with a mechanical heart underneath to keep it alive. As he tapped it, he seemed to smile to himself at the light melody of his prosthetic fingers against the chassis. “Is he fighting with us?”
That seemed to make the man laugh. “‘He’? Christ, getting attached to the creatures in the zoo now, are we?”
“Well, is he?” He looked over, seeming undeterred, even when the Sturm nudged him so hard he stumbled a little, even laughing at his enthusiasm - laughing, in a way that was airy and free.
Heisenberg swallowed, glancing between Ethan and the monster, before looking down at his feet and kicking his heel against the floor. “...I suppose. Doubt he’ll be much use, though.”
“I dunno. Have you ever seen a big, scary, loud dog? Bark doesn’t have to be as bad as the bite.”
“I… can’t say I have.”
“Seen a scary dog?”
Heisenberg blinked behind his glasses, almost thinking to himself before he spoke again. “Seen… a dog.”
He scoffed momentarily. “The Lycans don’t count for shit, then?”
“They were people once, Ethan. Not that it matters now. ‘Specially with those fuckers that walk on all fours.”
That made Ethan pause, the bemused smile on his face falling, as he looked over at the lord. “…Do you even know what a real dog is?”
“Wh- yes, I know what a ‘real dog’ is, asshole.”
And at that, he seemed to try and suppress a laugh, though the snorting was more than enough to indicate his amusement.
“For a man who was shitting himself at the sight of that thing, you sure got mighty comfortable.”
“...Right. Kinda fucked up, huh? I’m a little too used to things being out to get me, by now.” He gave a quiet huff, though the rest of a sigh remained in a ball in his chest, as he gave the Sturm a final pat and put his hands in his pockets.
They soon left the creature to its own devices, and continued back upstairs, with Ethan walking by Heisenberg’s side, rather than getting dragged behind. Now, surprisingly, it was Ethan that was starting to fill the silence with words that didn’t mean much of anything - asking for details of a plan that had been years in the making, suggesting things that had already been agonised over thrice at least. It was interesting, to watch him work, to watch again the way his hands moved through the air, as if casting some arcane spell to somehow magic his daughter back into his arm from four pieces to one. Almost endearing, in a way, to know just how fragile this desperate father was, and how easy it was to break him. Almost made Heisenberg a little soft, to want to protect him. Almost, he told himself. He wouldn’t - no, never.
As they passed back through the workshop, Heisenberg found his eyes falling on the wedding ring, still left discarded on the worktop. It was barely recognisable, stained with dark blood and wear, but the shape was unmistakable. He looked up, watching Ethan continue to walk, still talking (the conversation soon turned to the offshoot of thoughts from a new parent with love worth twice his weight) up until he realised the air beside him was cold and lonely, and he turned behind him.
“What?”
“Oh, nothing. I just got bored of your mundane ramblings.”
“Ha, you and Rose both.”
“Don’t compare me to an infant.” He scoffed, fiddling with a hand that had now found its way into his coat pocket, as he almost marched behind Ethan again, leaving the worktop before him now bare with the ring he had snatched up, for safekeeping.
The elevator ride up was quiet, tension rising with the altitude, suffocating and unsettling. This was it, the final firefight. They both knew the stakes; make or break for them, for Rose, and for whoever else came afterwards. To be frank, and selfish, Heisenberg didn’t give a damn about what came after, if they failed. They’d be dead and gone, and while some part of him believed that Miranda would just stay put with her simple need for a freaky super baby wearing her daughter’s face, it would surely be too good to be true. At some point, he would have said he didn’t give a damn about Ethan, or Rose - only cared for what they could give him. He glanced to his side, to Ethan, watching the way he flexed his hands, moved to hold the prosthesis, press his thumb against where cold metal met scarred skin, swallowing down anxieties that would never leave him. He watched the man feel eyes on him, and glance over, a tired gaze of dull grey meeting him, and then Ethan smiled. Soft, unsure, but he smiled still. Heisenberg looked away.
No, he didn’t care for what happened afterwards. But only if Ethan wasn’t there to see it.
Rain hit them as soon as the doors slowly pulled out onto the open field. It was hard, heavy, clouds hanging overhead, covering the last of the setting sun in a blanket of melancholy. The perfect setting for the end of it all, he supposed. Heisenberg quickly beckoned over to the fence, to a gate off to the side, where they’d sneak away into the belly of Miranda’s lair, all while a metal army tore the last of her splendour apart topside. His hands were jittery with a sense of excitement as his boots sunk into the muddy grass below his feet-
“Ethan,” the voice was not familiar to him, but Heisenberg knew it meant something to Ethan - what, with the way he’d stopped talking, stopped walking. The lord took a glance behind him, watching the way the grip on his shotgun had tightened, and his teeth were gritted so tightly that his face was shaking.
“Mia-” He went to respond, turning around at a chuckle from behind. At a woman, soaked to the skin in her nightclothes, standing a short distance away. Ethan hesitated, before raising his gun. “Miranda.”
“Poor, poor Ethan,” she continued to coo, stepping forward as he tried to step away from her. “So lost and alone without wife and child, you turn to the common dog to get your friendship. Loss twists the mind something awful, does it not?”
He stepped back, back to Heisenberg’s side, enough for him to grab onto the back of his coat with an iron grip, and keep him in place. This wasn’t Mia. Though she wore the same kind face, he knew better. They both knew better.
But she only continued to laugh, and laugh, before being covered by the thick, molded tendrils that sprouted from the ground around them. Her laughter did not cease.
Heisenberg kept a hold on Ethan’s coat. “Don’t be stupid,” he grimaced, feeling the way he was beginning to tug at the grip to get free.
The laughter sounded more like a raven’s call now, a screeching cackle that dissipated through the air as the rain still hit them from a sky where heaven was open, and opening further still - colder, faster and harder than before.
The Mother soon showed herself again, emerging from behind a root with a bejewelled, clawed hand, sinking into the rotten flesh, dark blood dripping down her wrist and into her sleeve. “Your child… she truly is special, isn’t she?”
The tugging stopped for a moment, as again, Ethan’s hands curled further around his gun, and he swallowed, speaking with a throat still somehow dry. “She’s… she’s everything to me.”
“And mine to me.” That softness was gone now, sharp and harsh, as she ripped out a chunk of mold from the structure she had conjured, crumbling it between her fingers. “Rose has power that you couldn’t possibly understand. You didn’t understand Eveline, after all. But when do you ever understand anything, Ethan Winters?”
“Fuck you!”
“Ethan,” Heisenberg hissed again, barely able to stop him as he lurched forward again, the back of his coat slick with the rain. Perhaps it really was true, the way that parents' strength was unmatched when faced with a child in danger.
“She has my goddamned daughter, let me go.”
“You’re going to get yourself killed, you fucking idiot-”
That shrill laughter began again, and when they both looked back up again, Miranda was gone, with nothing but feathers where she once stood, sinking to the floor in the rain. And that was enough for Ethan to free himself from his charge.
He stumbled forward with his own force, spinning around and looking between every crack in the mold that surrounded them now. Shotgun pumped, he flexed his fingers against the barrel, against the trigger, paranoid eyes darting around. “Miranda-”
“Ethan-”
“Miranda, where the fuck are you, you crazy bitch-”
“Ethan.”
Those tired eyes shot back towards him, a fierceness in his gaze like a fire that had been burning for days, with no sign of stopping. This was the fight that had taken down the rest of his family, now tenfold. Anger and resentment. “What.”
The lord stopped for a moment, trying not to let Ethan's harshness get under his skin too much, his own quiet temper starting to bubble. “She has us right where she wants us, we need to go.”
“Fuck that.”
“Do you want to save the damn kid, or not?”
“My daughter,” He corrected.
“Whatever!”
“No, not whatever!”
“Remember she’s still in jars, jackass. Miranda is the only one who can put her back together. We need to go. Unless you want to keep the poor bastard in an urn on your fireplace once you get out of here.”
That seemed to be enough to make Ethan pause, and consider, that tension back before finally, he lowered his gun slightly, losing that harshness in his figure but never the fire in his face, even with the sigh that escaped him. “...Right. Fuck, I just-”
“Justify it later. Just go.”
He nodded with that, taking a step forward-
-with a gargle in his throat, and a trail of blood falling from his mouth.
Heisenberg froze, watching the way Miranda seemed to appear from nowhere, reaching into his chest from behind so boldly, the way Ethan seemed to crumble around her claws as he looked down, powerless to stop her as she lifted him from the floor.
“Poor, clueless Ethan Winters. Even turning my family against me did not help you.” She mused, taking a moment to watch him twitch like a dying fly before pulling his heart out of his chest. Miranda looked at it for a moment, not even glancing as he started to collapse to his knees in the rain-soaked earth. She watched the way it continued to beat with futility in her hand, almost panicking to itself, lips curling beneath the mask she wore with disgust at a reaction so... human. “Your power is impressive, but your intelligence is not. Perhaps I overestimated you.”
But even then, it seemed that Ethan did not want to die, despite knowing that he would - he still tried to speak, to reach out and grab her to pull her down with him with what dwindling strength remained, but instead, simply tipped over, leaving scratch marks in the dirt where he dragged himself along.
And then, all was still, as the rain hit the open field behind the factory with ferocity.
Miranda observed the heart in her claws, squeezing it to prompt it to stop, but it did not. An amused hum escaped her, as she muttered to herself. “You really are an interesting specimen. I would have loved to study you more, but alas…”
Dark eyes glanced up now, to the one person left standing of two. She took a moment to look up at him at down - at the tenseness in his form, at the way he held his weapon with both hands, almost protectively, closed fists shaking with silent fury.
And yet, she still dared to smile at him, a fake warmness attempting to hide the coldness in her eyes as she turned and faced him fully, opening her arms, as if welcoming an embrace. She did not falter as he took a few steps back, the venom with which she spoke just as poisonous as it would have been otherwise. “Karl-”
“Don’t.” Despite the way he gritted his teeth to stop his voice from shaking, he was still… no, he would never admit he was afraid of her. He wasn’t scared of anything. Least of all her.
She tightened her grip around Ethan’s heart.
He tried not to lurch forward and snatch it from her, like a petulant child.
“My darling son,” Her words were cutting, sarcasm masked as flattery, but they both knew better than to consider it at face value. “I understand you’re upset, that you cannot play commander anymore with your little friend-”
“Shut the fuck up.”
“Don’t you dare interrupt me again, boy.” Her softened facade broke then, her tone growing curt and tired of this back and forth. She had Heisenberg’s world in her hand - they both knew that, all too well. “You think me a fool? To not know what you’ve been messing with, up here?”
Breathing in through his nose, and out through the mouth, he tried his best to stop himself from snapping at her further, for fear of two lives, now. No, he wasn’t scared - not for himself. But for Ethan, or for his corpse and beating heart? He was terrified.
“I have given you everything, and this is how you repay me? Did you forget from whence you came?”
He had vague memories of first receiving his ‘gift’ from the mother - but they came in between the hot flashes of pain, white and searing, blinding him to almost everything else, and wiping his mind clear of everything before. He had a real family, once. Maybe that’s why he was so desperate to protect Ethan’s now.
“Did you forget?” She repeated, each syllable spoken with a purposeful, grim intent through gritted teeth.
He kept his mouth shut. It was hard, so incredibly hard, to do the right thing and not say a word. Anything she didn’t like to hear would spell the end for them.
But even that seemed to irritate the woman. Hand outstretched to him, claws digging into the muscle she held (as it seemed to beat with panic in her grip), she opened her mouth to speak, and-
It happened so fast, it was almost like a blur. The hot air hit his back hard enough to make him stumble forward and spin around, watching the building behind him go up in flames. Behind glasses reflecting the flames dancing across the dark sky stretched out above them, his eyes widened in a mix of disbelief and horror. His entire army, everything he’d been building, waiting for and sitting on - gone, in a flash, far too big for a woman of even Miranda’s standing to orchestrate. No… this was far too forward. Still, Heisenberg turned to her, half expecting a grin from hell’s worst demons to be worn upon her face, but instead found that he only wanted to frame her expression of equal shock, if only for a second, before he saw the way her hands had fallen slightly, the way her grip around the heart had loosened, and loose blood dripped from vessels onto the wet ground in front of her. He glanced down at her feet, where Ethan still lay motionless in a pool of his own blood.
He had to make a choice.
And with the sound of his heart in his ears, as if to remind him he still had one, that choice was made. His feet hit the mud, hard, as he quickly rushed forward and snatched the heart from Miranda’s grasp, holding it close enough to his chest as he turned away so that she couldn’t grab it back without a struggle, like a selfish child with a toy that he didn’t want anyone else to play with. Between his fingers, he could feel that constant pulse, as heavy boots tripped over moulded, rotten tendrils that whipped angrily at his ankles as they tried to grab and restrain him. And the man moved as agile as he could over and between them, almost as if he was dancing to the rhythm of the heart he now held so close. Heisenberg was sure he’d had this dream before - fleeing from the grips of mother dearest, to somewhere better, rejected from a family he didn’t want, with all the shame and feeling and freedom to match. But dreams could never match the reality, where his chest felt hollow and it was hard to breathe, where his clothes stuck to his skin with heavy rainfall and the manic ramblings and laughter of Mother Miranda followed him like a haunting echo.
It must have been a sight to behold - the once lord Heisenberg, running from his own factory, reduced to nothing more than dancing flames and the smell of burning, decaying flesh and metal. It was almost beautiful, in its glow. Almost.
Heisenberg stopped running, finally, slowly coming to a halt in the middle of the courtyard, turning to look behind him at the sight of everything he’d built up burning to a crisp, his world for decades now nothing more than ashes and dust. His breathing was heavy, frenzied eyes looking around him to see how far he’d run - not far, it seemed, from the gates adorned with feathers, bones and crests of ghosts surrounding him from either side. Was there anyone in the village? No… if Moreau or himself hadn't gotten to them, then Alcina certainly would have. Donna took care of the children. In biding his time, it seemed he’d screwed himself over - no one was around to help.
The reality was hitting him now. He had Ethan’s heart in his hands. It was still beating, somehow - clinging to life, barely, but it certainly was clinging. That shouldn’t be happening, he was smart enough to know that, but that didn’t matter now. He was almost thankful, in fact, that Ethan was still too stubborn to die. He clutched it to his chest, almost protectively, staining the shirt with the man’s blood, but he didn’t care. The plan had changed - it wasn’t just about stopping Miranda anymore. Somewhere along the line, things had gotten blurry, and there had been a second objective - keep Rose, and Ethan, safe. And he’d failed that.
The sound of someone clearing their throat spooked him enough to make him jump in his skin, like a frightened child. Heisenberg spun around on his heels, finally taking notice of the cart that was hard to miss, adorned with goods and a sweet smell, with a large, friendly face at its helm. He didn’t relax.
“Lord Heisenberg?” The Duke was surprised to see him, though seemingly not off-put by an appearance that looked way worse than it actually was.
“I, uh… yeah, yeah, it’s me.” He swallowed, taking a few steps closer to the cart, the adrenaline starting to die down now and the pain kicking in.
The man leaned down a little as Heisenberg got closer, the look of concern only making the lord feel worse - he never seemed to lose that smile he had, so the fact his face had fallen? Only showed him just how grim things had gotten. The man’s voice was quieter as he spoke again, “You seem a little worse for wear, my friend.”
“Ha! Just a… just a bit, bud.”
“And what of Mr Winters? I had last seen him heading to your abode, is he-”
“I-I don’t… look, I don’t know, it’s all gone to shit, a-and I…” Again, he swallowed, realising just how upset he was. Because while killing Miranda was out of the cards now… fuck - fuck, he was in tatters at the thought of losing that stupid man. He futilely held up his hands - one in surrender, and the other still holding (not gripping it, for fear he may stop it) Ethan’s heart, his blood staining his hands and his shirt and… everything. As if he’d killed the man himself - he may as well have done, for leading him there, to her, right where she wanted him.
“Slow down, it’s alright,” The Duke remained softened, even in the face of something he should have been unnerved by, at the very least. Beckoning for the man to come closer with a large hand, he waited for the lord to ponder, before he hesitantly complied, only to pull away the hand that held the heart as soon as it was reached for. “I wish for his safety as much as you, my friend.”
He grimaced.
“I would not hurt my best customer, my lord.” Despite the formalities, it seemed his tone had softened with some sentimentality. Or maybe it was a farce.
But Heisenberg didn’t exactly have any friends here. So he growled, and slowly held his hand up again, passing Ethan’s heart to the merchant, watching the way it looked so small in his hands.
And true to his word, The Duke was delicate, shielding it from the rain with his free hand, seeming amazed at the way it still clung to life, even now - though it was getting weaker, cold and tired. To himself, he began to muse, “Remarkable. Simply remarkable, Mr Winters.”
Staying quiet, he started to kick his feet back and forth against the snow that was washing away in the rain, sludge forming on the tips of his boots as he waited for anything else - some good news, he dared to hope. He shouldn’t have, but he did anyway. If anything was going to give that to him, it had to be Ethan, the man who refused to die.
There was at least something, as over his glasses he watched the other man reach back into his cart, fumbling among his merchandise for a moment, before clicking his tongue and grabbing a hold of something among his wears. “Ah, Lord Heisenberg?”
He stood to attention far too fast. “Yeah? Yeah?”
“Would you mind opening this for me?” The Duke reached down, handing Heisenberg a small glass jar, not unlike the ones that Miranda’s cadou had been stored in. “Just to keep the poor thing warm. Quickly, if you’d please.”
For a moment, he seemed dumbfounded, before it caught up with him and he nodded, pulling off a glove with his mouth and holding it between his teeth as he unscrewed the lid, pulling it off and holding it up again for The Duke to place the muscle in the glass container. Once it was sealed again, Heisenberg held it up to look at it, catching his reflection in the glass. A sad one.
“That should keep it intact, for now, until we find where the rest of him is.”
Lost at the back of the factory that was still in flames. He swallowed, and kept his eyes on the jar. At the tired eyes that stared back up at him behind dark glasses.
The silence seemed to be more than enough of an answer for the merchant, who gave a heavy sigh. “Very well. I’ll see to it he’s brought back here.”
That made him look back up again, rather quickly, moving to finally take his glove out of his mouth and hold it in a tight grip to let himself speak, almost hopeful. “You’re getting him?”
“But of course. What good is a father’s heart to his daughter without her father?”
Rose… Rose, fuck-
“Calm yourself, my lord.” Almost sensing his growing panic beginning to rise once more, The Duke took to soothing the man, not unlike a caregiver to their child. “Your plans of revolution will come to fruition yet.”
And with that final reassurance, he watched the businessman begin to pack up his station, at a moderate pace. Heisenberg tapped his fingers against the glass, listening to the way Ethan’s heart beat back in response to the call of the rhythm.
“Hold on.”
The Duke stopped, watching the lord put down the jar and quickly move his coat - his tattered, greasy, now bloodstained coat -  before reaching up almost gingerly, up to the merchant, waving it after a moment as a signal to take it.
“For when you find him.” He hesitated for a moment, before quickly shrugging. “…I dunno. He seemed cold.”
The Duke stared for a moment, before he finally smiled again, offering the man some comfort as he accepted the gesture, and pulled the coat onto his lap. “I assure you, Lord Heisenberg, that I will make every attempt to recover Ethan for you.”
“Heh, don’t get my hopes up, now.” He ran his free arm under his nose to wipe away the snot that had gathered from his threatening tears, before shoving his hand into his pocket. As if he wasn’t hopeful enough already.
“It’s all part of our first-class customer service.” There wasn’t a beat missed as he spoke again, returning to a more jovial disposition, with some newfound determination.
“You want some help packin’ up?”
“Well, if you’d be so kind.”
Heisenberg paused for a moment, looking down at the jar in his hands, at the way that, even still, the hear inside it beat, almost with newfound determination, before nodding to himself and looking up again. “You’d be in luck. Seems I’m full of kindness these days.”

Zagr for the ship ask 😤😤😤 every single one bitch
I cannot believe you have bombarded me like this. Appalled. Insulted. Astounded.
Please enjoy my entire analysis of my fictional totally canonical ship.
PRE-RELATIONSHIP
1. How did they first meet?
Dib, but also school.
2. What was their first impression of each other?
I think they're both initially incredibly dismissive of one another. Zim thinks the entire fate of the Armada's reputation lying on his shoulders, and Gaz really has too many personal problems even as a kid to deal with; neglectful Dad, overprotective, stupid brother, etc.
3. Did any of their friends or family want them to get together?
Okay so hear me out; I think Skoodge and Professor Membrane would be so obnoxious in the best way. And Gir, whenever his attention span lets him remember long enough to scream about it. But I think Membrane would be chipper about Gaz finding someone, even long before she admits she's even interested, and Skoodge would want Zim to be happy and is unconditionally supportive, especially when Zim is mopey whenever his advances are rebuffed.
4. Who felt romantic feelings first?
Honestly, I love a Zim simp, but I genuinely think it'd be Gaz. Zim is obviously a Defect capable of feeling a larger range of emotions than other Irkens, but he still didn't receive socialization that makes 'romantic rituals' in any way natural to him. So I think Gaz and him would buddy up platonically and casually, initially, until she realizes she likes his company a little too much and freaks out about it.
5. Did either of them try to resist their feelings?
Gaz does, 100%, and she's way more stubborn about it then Zim. I think Zim's denial is just that he doesn't "get" romance (see above) and what's going on with him, but once he understands he's fully down to bombard Gaz with affection, flirtations, and other over-the-top simp behavior until she stops pretending she's not gritting her teeth while fighting a blush.
6. If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think?
Zim doesn't know what a soul is, but he does begin to understand the concept that they can be taken from human's in bargains. He becomes distracted by the topic. Bringing it up again later would have him largely dismissive.
Gaz would roll her eyes, and be extremely bitter about the idea that there is anyone 'made' for her. She's very independent, and I think someone with the sort of familial issues she does with no role model for a 'happy' family would be really resistant to being bound to someone in a way that would entitle them to her vulnerabilities. She'd be extremely resentful, dismissive, and irritable.
7. What would their lives be like if they had never met?
Really unfulfilled, listless. Without that companionship, they would never develop into people capable of meaningful relationships. I think both of them are very independent. Zim may claim he likes an audience, but there's an undeniable anxiety that he gets when faced with judgement. If it's anything but unwaveringly positive, he becomes delusional and creates a fantasy world in which everyone loves him, and the situation was just an initial misinterpretation. Gaz would have good friends, I think, but accepting Zim and his oddities and realizing she genuinely relates to someone who knows everything about her (via her brother + proximity + time) and is still here would mean a lot to her development.
GENERAL
1. Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go?
Zim, without a doubt. Gaz may like Zim first, but she's completely in denial about it and completely stubborn. Zim is oblivious, and also a big ass simp, so his persistence and patience eventually gets Gaz to let her guard down and accept that she has hormones, she has romantic inclinations, and apparently they've both decided Zim is it. Time to be a big girl and accept it.
2. Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like?
Honestly, I don't think they're the 'date' type of couple. I am probably 100% projecting since my boyfriend and I did not have an official 'date' until like 6 months into our first relationship, where we paused, turned to each other and were like 'wait is this our first date?' because we're homebodies whose idea of fun is projects. I think Zim and Gaz would hang out regularly, but it wouldn't ever be like a formal 'we are going to Bloaty's/the movies/etc as a date,' but rather 'I am going here and you are coming with me so I guess we are going together' thing. Zim doesn't get the point of a date, because if a date is by definition doing an activity together, then aren't they perpetually on a date? And Gaz isn't really a 'let's go to dinner formally' kind of person. They hang out, they go places, but it's never really a 'thing.'
3. What was their first kiss like?
I firmly believes Gaz would have to walk Zim through every aspect of physical affectionate. Zim is really wary about it, but I do think there's an instinct towards good ol' copulation, as well as a longing for positive touch after so long getting his ass whooped in the Academy, that would make him frustrated trying to figure out what this desire is. I think their first kiss is Gaz explaining to Zim, after he asks her outright what else there is after tame stuff like cuddling and hand holding, and Gaz walks him through the concept, implications, and so on until he feels ready to bravely and firmly try it.
While that does sound pretty clinical, I think actually it'd be really emotional for both of them. Zim would be really overwhelmed by how much passion is in a kiss, and Gaz would be similarly overwhelmed since, going into the relationship, she probably never anticipated Zim being interested in anything sexual, so any physical affection he expresses interest in is a surprise to her.
4. Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)?
I think Gaz probably would try out a few brief relationships, but never anything substantial or dramatic. Zim's never been in a relationship, so Gaz is his first everything. I do think they'd be each other's first sexual relationship, but I think Gaz would have most of her more minimal firsts with other people prior to Zim.
5. What’s their height difference? Age difference?
Zim older. I normally write Zim as the same height as Gaz, or only a little taller. Neither of them are tall. I do respect you 'short king' stans though.
6. What’s their relationship with each other’s families?
Dib hates Zim, firmly and completely, at the beginning of their relationship. It takes a lot of self-reflection, meaningful sibling discussions, and probably a few screaming matches that eventually get to the real root of the issue (Dib's ingrained fear that something would happen to Gaz, and that it'd his fault) before he came around. Zim is a big petty bitch and would gleefully antagonize him. They would never stop sniping at each other, but they'd begrudgingly (sort of) behave for Gaz. They would eventually become frenemies and bros, but they'd die and also kill each other before admitting any sort of cordiality.
Professor Membrane adores Zim, and treats him like the son he never had/always wanted, the one who wants to have long discussions about science and can keep up with the theoreticals. Gaz hates it.
The Base and Gaz are cool. They have an understanding borne from two sentient creatures who have found themselves in the position of trying to keep Zim from killing himself, killing other people, or from coming to (too much) harm. Gaz initially hates Gir, but eventually she figures out how to get him to chill out when it's important. Minimoose and her are also cool, but he creeps Gaz out a little.
7. Who takes the lead in social situations?
Zim thinks he does, but it's really just Gaz slapping her hand over his mouth before he can say something stupid, or translating whatever nonsense just came out of his mouth when he's done talking.
8. Who gets jealous easier?
Zim. Not even a question.
9. Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear?
Zim. Also not even a question.
LOVE
1. Who said “I love you” first?
Gaz. Zim doesn't know what it means until she explains it. It takes him awhile to internalize it and reciprocate verbally, but Gaz is okay with that. He shows her how much he cares in other ways.
2. What are their primary love languages?
Without a doubt, Zim's is touch. Once he gets used to it, he's really greedy and possessive about proximity. Just having Gaz bump his arm is sometimes enough to set the worst of his nerves at ease.
Gaz's is acts of service. She's fine with Zim being physically clingy, but it means a lot to her how unflinching he is about protecting her, anticipating her needs, and remembering things.
3. Who uses cheesy pick-up lines?
Zim. Gaz hates them, but she tolerates it. Sometimes.
4. How often do they cuddle/engage in PDA?
Cuddling is very frequent. Zim will just sort of shift in behind Gaz if she's playing a game and cling, and she'll just keep doing what she's doing until she's eventually done and reciprocates. Explicit PDA never happens, but Zim is very clingy and physically will plant himself between Gaz and people who he's distrustful towards.
5. Who initiates kisses?
Gaz. I think Zim would cling to her like a barnacle at every opportunity, but Zim would likely usually defer to Gaz for escalating intimacy.
6. Who’s the big and little spoon?
Zim big spoon. PAK too uncomfortable to let him be the little spoon.
7. What are their favorite things to do together?
I think just being around each other while they do projects, game, etc. would be their favorite thing to do. Sharing in hobbies without feeling pressured to be entertaining, but still feeling like their presence is valued and wanted by the other.
8. Who’s better at comforting the other?
Being a people, and having more emotional competency, Gaz is better. Zim does his best though.
9. Who’s more protective?
Zim, if we're talking about quantity. Gaz, however, if we're talking about quality. Zim screams at chihuahuas for looking at Gaz, and also does protect her from genuine threats, but he overreacts frequently. Gaz, however, would know when Zim's out of his depth and would break the spine of anything that's a threat to him.
10. Do they prefer verbal or physical affection?
Physical, for both. Neither of them is really used to verbal affection, whether it be giving or receiving. It's a lot more natural to be demonstrative.
11. What are some songs that apply to their relationship, in-universe or otherwise?
Me, cackling as I copy and paste this link that I imagine is from their mutual perspectives:
https://open.spotify.com/track/4nlT0Ch4qpqoS8O1RsdzjH?si=d6d8e1e19a7d4dc7
12. What kind of nicknames do they call each other?
There's lots, and I'm sure most of them are inside jokes, but the tops are Zimmothy + Little Gaz.
13. Who remembers the little things?
It's hard to say. Zim would retain an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Gaz, and tries to spoil her and accommodate her at every opportunity, but Gaz never forgets to pack an extra umbrella and a raincoat.
DOMESTIC LIFE
1. If they get married, who proposes?
Zim.
2. What’s the wedding like? Who attends?
No one but their mutual 'families.' A very small, intimate ceremony. The reception though is massive, courtesy of Professor Membrane who has no idea how to separate his personal life with his public one.
3. How many kids do they have, if any? What are they like?
0 kiddos. Cannot product viable, compatible DNA to produce a spawn.
4. Do they have any pets?
Does Gir count?
5. Who’s the stricter parent?
If Gir is the child, Zim. Gaz will let him get away with murder, both because she can't be bothered to control him, and also because she thinks it's funny how mad Zim gets when she lets him go wild.
6. Who worries the most?
Between Gaz "apathetic is my middle name" Membrane and Invader "I have perpetual anxiety" Zim? No idea.
7. Who kills the bugs in the house?
Gir. He eats them long before anyone can find them. But both Gaz and Zim will point out any he misses.
8. How do they celebrate holidays?
Zim fucking hates Christmas, so him and Membrane get down in a bunker for it while Dib and Gaz spend some sibling time somewhere, drinking cocoa and video chatting with the respective morons. Other holidays, they basically go wherever Professor Membrane is in the world with Dib to have a 'family' holiday.
9. Who’s more likely to convince the other to come back to sleep in the morning?
Zim doesn't sleep, but he likes the resting and the peacefulness of getting to curl around Gaz in her sleep without her leaving. So him by default.
10. Who’s the better cook?
Zim has a 'kiss the chef' apron and everything.
11. Who likes to dance?
Neither of them, but Zim does 'victory dances' compulsively.
