Really hate that the only way to get Mike back on You're Wrong About as a guest is the fucking O.J. Simpson series. Those are the only episodes I won't listen to.

See, I don’t usually like to think that Hashirama would’ve killed Tobirama if Madara hadn’t given the choice between Tobirama and Hashirama, because those kinds of thoughts usually only come from the anti Hashirama side of the fandom which I could not agree less with if I tried.
But.
The fact remains that Hashirama at some point went from “I will protect my last brother at any cost” to “I will kill anyone who threatens Konoha, even if it were my brother or even my own children” and it’s never fucking shown when that change exactly happened.
Was it when he reached adulthood and he realized for himself that the bigger picture—in his case, peace—matters more than anything else? Was it after Konoha was built and he became Hokage and his responsibilities grew? Was it after Madara left and his heart grew cold?
I imagine it must’ve been a mixture of being Hokage and therefore having more people to protect besides his direct family, and Madara’s betrayal that must’ve struck him pretty badly that he let his heart grow so cold to the point he’d rather kill his best friend/brother/child if they in any way threatened the village resp. peace as a whole than attempting to talk with them first.
But the question remains: What would have Hashirama done if Madara had demanded Tobirama’s life with no other option? I don’t like to imagine that he actually would’ve killed Tobirama, but as much as I devour fics in which Hashirama goes absolutely batshit after his brother dies with relish, canonically speaking, peace would always be Hashirama’s biggest goal. And it’s driving me utterly nuts that I cannot for the life of me say how Hashirama would’ve reacted in this scenario.
Anyway, Idk where I was going with this, I just had to think once again about this and what a fascinating character Hashirama actually is and how little we know about him at the end of the day…

I'll just go ahead and say this, since now we're apparently back to our timeline: if any of the brothers dare insult Solomon from here on, my MC will be throwing hands.

I have decided that Zane Flynt from Borderlands is the mysterious handsome rogue type but he fits the "mysterious" part in an atypical way.
He's mysterious not in the sense that you know nothing about him and he refuses to talk about it
But mysterious in the way that he talks about himself a LOT and you have a LOT of information about him and his past but everything he shares leaves you with far more questions than answers and idk I think that's wonderful

I have spoken so much about how Nathan Shelly's arc enrages me, but I've rarely ever talked about the sadness I get from Sam's
I absolutely weep for Sam Obisanya
From the beginning Sam's character was written as a plot device to aid in the development for the white characters, he literally only exists at first to give Jamie a foil to bounce off of, every moment it looks like Sam could have the beginning of his own character arc it is cut off at the knees instead to give a spotlight to Jamie Tartt's personal journey of growth, from Sam's good family and kind father only being mentioned to show the fact that Jamie can't relate to the experience of having a good dad to Sam deciding he was going to protest Dubai Air by putting the tape on his uniform becoming instead about Jamie showing he was willing to be a team player now, rather than the huge moment of courage and strength displayed by Sam it was supposed to be. When they showed the whole team with tape on their chests and zoomed in on Sam's face it felt so hollow, because instead of the protest being about Sam, which it should have been, it was actually about Jamie. And I was going to give them leeway for that moment, because I believed we were about to fall down a season long arc of Sam fighting against negative press, targetted propaganda, and harassment from government officials and giant corporate CEOs with his protest and subsequent interview, I was expecting to see so much more protests from Sam, so much more activism and altruism becoming an integral part of his character going forward, but instead it's tossed to the side with a singular text message flashed on the screen to show the government just instantly cow towed to the opinion of some random football player?????? Make it make sense.
Then after completely abandoning the possible activism plotline Sam could have gone down they throw him into a relationship with Rebecca, which I don't necessarily mind, but then Sam stopped being a character and just became a hot love interest for the white woman going through a journey of self-discovery to have a fun short sexual fling with before discarding him for her own growth, once again Sam was a plot device in a white character's story. And it happened right after I thought Sam was going to be bumped up in the main character roster with his own well written arc, which just twists the knife even more
And then after all of that bullshit they throw Sam this random restaurant plotline, which once again, I'm fine with, even if it is a little pardon my pun half-baked, but like you need to pick a character arc for Sam to go down and stick with it. This restaurant idea just comes from nowhere in my opinion. It's lovely and a nice thought, but since when has Sam ever shown an interest in food? When did he ever make any kind of reference to wanting to have a restaurant before they decided he'd get one? Why abandon the activism plotline to give him a very similar kind of plotline just with a restaurant instead? Did you realize you weren't nearly skilled or informed enough to write a plot about a black African man protesting the giant white corporate conglomerate that utilizes the colonization of his home country by the country he currently resides in to bribe the corrupt government of his home to further subjugate the people that still live there including his own family and so you backed off like cowards and gave him a cutesy romance and a restaurant plot instead?
Anyways, Sam Obisanya deserved writers that actually knew how to write for him, and I will forever cry about who he could have been if he'd had those writers instead

"Pr0shippers this one ain't for you. You're not "cringe" you're just writing pedo and incest porn, which makes you not "cringe" but a "terrible person". Hope that helps"
Sorry blud, but adding that to your cringe culture is dead post isn't gonna destroy cringe culture. It's just gonna cause more hatred against proshippers.
Take a look at this kitty.
Tumblr media
I would like people who draw porn of children to be hated and bullied off the internet. or eaten alive. either is fine. do you know what the paradox of tolerance is? cool, anyways I think theres a pretty clear line between "perpetuating cringe culture" and "criticizing people for writing rape porn" and im disturbed at how many people are conflating these sentiments.

okay, so anyone who knows me knows well enough by now that i'm more than willing to talk your ear off regarding the relationships both Nigel and Alex have with their fathers. however i've been more or less avoiding taking too much of a deep-dive into the relationship between Nigel and Helen (largely because 1. it means addressing the events at the end of the film which are, less than savoury, shall we say; and 2. because i'm still a firm believer that Greg only threw that ending in there because he needed to drum up some sort of conflict between Nigel and Alex that led to their final confrontation - essentially standing drunk in front of a dart board - and that in terms of narrative, Nigel should have been Alex's maraclea in the end. but i digress). my parents may have raised an idiot but they sure didn't raise a quitter so here i go anyway
moving on from those two issues, the thing that had always bothered me in the beginning was the fact the film has Nigel claim Helen as his maraclea, a title which carries with it an implication of love. and that is a crucial point here; a huge part of the myth rests upon the fact that the girl was loved by the great lord. and we know how important that story is to Nigel! it forms a crucial part of his belief system; it underpins his entire worldview. he wouldn't just hand out that title to anyone who he bore no emotional attachment to, or else it would lose all significance. So Nigel must love his mother in some form or another (whether it be familial or something more; there's enough in the film to imply something else may have been going on between the two but that's up to individual interpretations). how then, if he loves Helen so much, could he be willing to orchestrate her death at the hands of his father?
the answer to that question essentially boiled down to the fact that Nigel simply does not view death the way other people do. It's not a finality to him. Nigel very much so sees death as transformative - what is dead may never die, only through death can one achieve immortality. You can see it with his interest in taxidermy, the idea that something can be preserved forever, and with Alex's admission that Nigel 'got what he wanted' (i.e. eternity) only by taking his own life.
So you have this notion developing that in a way, Nigel sees this as the highest honor he can bestow upon his mother; the greatest gift he can give her. Through death, she'll live forever, and she'll become a part of something much bigger than either of them. A part of something more important to Nigel than anything else.

also - bc i can't believe i have to say this - if you link someone's meta/posts when they've 1) blocked you and you know it and/or 2) just to rebuttal them and disagree with them over something it's already clear - and okay!! - that you have fundamentally different interptretations on, you're being kinda rude at best and an asshole at worst
