[I made an older orc and in my head she was like a temporary mom to everyone in camp, pretty much adopting them. Is this okay? I want Platonic fluff. You can add more characters if you wish!]

Masterlist

Karlach

She cries holding Clive at night for the first few days.

She remembers her parents, but is so happy to have someone looking after her well-being again.

She shares all of her memories of her parents with Tav, trying to bond more.

Karlach hates seeing Tav get hurt.

She is always afraid of losing them like she did her parents.

Astarion

He cries every night.

He doesn't remember his parents' faces or names.

He tries his best to imagine what they look like, but everything he thinks of looks wrong.

He tries to distance himself from Tav at first, but can't help being drawn to their kindness.

Astarion slowly starts to loosen himself and enjoy the protection Tav gives him.

Lae'zel

She is very outspoken about how she doesn't need a parental figure.

In her spare time, in her tent at night, she thinks about the day's events and thinks about how differently they could have gone.

Lae'zel slowly warms up to Tav's ideas and insights, but pushes back a bit with her ideals she grew up with.

She tried to hide how she feels about Tav's guidance, but everyone has noticed how much more reasonable she seems.

She begins to talk to Shadowheart and others about their disagreements instead of starting with violence.

Headcanon where Gale is the famous professor in the academy for being one of the few professors who actually had a great perilous adventure but none of the students (and some staff too) believe it really happened.

Like they file it away as one of those things where he probably just saw it at the sidelines not really like thick in battle since he has the orb to worry about.

Until finally one day Gale holds a special series of seminars/demonstrations for in the field spellcasting for fights or crisis. He invited all the party members he could in these seminars

Suddenly a former shar worhipper, gith, vampire, devil, is that the blade of frontiers(?), the legendary jaheira and the hero of baldurs gate just are there to help the demo/seminar.

A nighttime demo for Astarion, A lesson on how to cast light spells and be alert for rogues. Not to mention how to maintain concentration when you get shot by an arrow, Gale will say as Astarion shoots an arrow at him. ( at some point an arrow does sink in Gale's shoulder and the whole class freezes but Gale just tuts disapprovingly while Astarion just acts innocently like he doesnt have a longbow in his hand)

Karlach makes a demo on how to distinguish devils and how to kill them. She and Gale also show how to deal with a raging barbarian in a fight as a wizard, Hint human shields i mean tanks companions are important.

Wyll is charming the socks of the audience and shows self-defense tactics when an enemy too close. Oh yes he used to be a warlock but his patron was a devil so he had to cut ties with her

Shadowheart talks about healing spells and being aware of the your companions healths. She especially emphasizes the importance of being able to self heal in emergencies especially for wizards while giving pointed looks at Gale while Gale awkwardly(or guiltily?) shuffles and clears his throat

Laezel talks about the battlefield positions and best placement of wizards in the field to help the strongest soldiers and she also shows which of the body parts they should aim their spells. (I like imagining Laezel having her baby strapped on her while doing her demo or using her baby to show which body parts)

And after a while the students realize with how Gale seamlessly shows or helps in the demos that omg maybe professor Dekarios did help save the baldurs gate

Halsin would honestly be a little in awed shock when you tell him. He'd treat you tenderly, go slowly and save the more rough lovemaking once you're accustomed to his...girth.

There is a lot of emotional connection that goes into the intimate act and knowing its his partner's first time would mean a great deal to him, he takes the perceived responsibility seriously.

Been trying to figure out how I imagine their body types/heights :)

(just my personal take on them, not saying its more right than any other)

Karlach; Big, buff as hell, softer in some areas - i don't think i did anything revolutionary here lol i just made her a bit taller and wider

Shart; no idea why but ever since I first saw her I imagined her as the short one? Short and a bit softer and bottom-heavy. No clue why but it is also a funny thought that this 5'3 lady is Halsin-strong

Lae'zel; should be flat (in my opinion). Her people are based off of frogs, they aren't even mammals, why does she have boobs. Otherwise I see her as just very lean and jacked in that alien way? Also same height as Astarion. Perfect height to kiss Shadowheart on the forehead, too

It’s been a while! I hope you’re all doing great, and I’m sorry for once more going on a forever break lol. But of course, Baldurs Gate 3 brainrot is so real

Before reading: Fluff, headcanons, Astarion, Lae’Zel, Gale, Shadowheart x reader (separate), gn reader

Astarion:

“Oh? I see you still can’t say no to my endless charm..”

At the beginning of the relationship, touches and prodding aren’t uncommon

Anything that can bring your attention to him

It takes a while and a lot of convincing from you that his somewhat risqué touches was not all that pleased you

And eventually he can even process that you don’t just love him for his body

Although hard for him to realize, with your help he can

So after your relationship has really blossomed and grown, his touches become softer, calmer, more intimate

Nights by the crackling fire, you in his lap, his hand massaging your nape

His fingers are dangerously cold against your skin, but there’s a sense of comfort that comes with the chill

Although he will brush off your reassurance as pitiful and unneeded..

For the longest time, he will surely believe you are like all his other conquests,

He’s more worried about you, how you feel, if you’re comfortable

He doesn’t care if tonight is the last night he shall ever see you

He’d rather die tomorrow than live for an eternity never knowing you

Lae’Zel:

“Chk..I do not take part in worthless acts of intimacy.”

Lae’Zel is not much of a ‘cuddles’ person

Like at all…

She’d rather feel the thrill of battle with you, bathing in the blood of your enemies

Her way of loving is slaughtering anyone who even just looks at you the wrong way

But, if you’re particularly lucky, or especially down

She can’t help but..pity you

In her mind, it’s such a disgusting feeling. This ‘love’ makes her weak, but she cannot run from it no matter how much she tries

The most touch you’ll get from her will only occur in private

A hand perched protectively on your hip or waist

Her head slumped on your shoulder when you’re on watch for the night

It means so,so much from her

And she’ll kill you if you go telling Shadowheart about how ‘sweet’ she was being last night

Shadowheart:

Shadowheart is lost when it comes to you

Not only is she horribly confused that you of all people would love her

She’s confused as to how she’s supposed to love you

Her entire life, for what she can remember, she’s never been shown comfort or remorse

If she did something wrong, she was punished

She doesn’t remember a single moment in her life when she was loved the way you love her

And although grateful, she feels unworthy

Hugs are common with her, of course in private, but common nonetheless

When she hold you in her arms, the pads of her fingers massage your back lovingly, worried if she lets go, you’ll flee

Let! Her! Play! With! Your! Hair! 🙏🏻

And please play with hers omg

At night, she’ll let her hair down and allow your hands to explore her long, black (or white) locks

Your touch sends shivers down her spine, a feeling she’s not used to, but craves so much

roadtrip au

I can’t stop thinking about a modern au roadtrip and what everyone would be doing in the minivan you definitely have. I’m sorry if this has been done before but -

Tav

You’re driving. Would you trust any of those other fools to? No. Absolutely not letting them behind the wheel

Responsible for keeping the schedule. You have to be at your destination on time and you’ll be damned if they’ll stop you.

The only person you sometimes let take over if you need a break is —

Gale

Let’s be real. Only other one of you with a driving license.

he sits shotgun mostly because he reads the map for you if your GPS goes out.

tries to work out shortcuts. Fails miserably. If you follow his “time saving” directions you’ll get so fucking lost. Only trust him to read out your planned route and nothing else.

Astarion

Fucking hates road trips. Catch him with a sleep mask on and headphones in. Will absolutely sleep through the whole entire thing.

Let’s be clear. He doesn’t NEED to sleep. But he does because he can’t fucking stand car talk. Would rather listen to podcasts and be in his own world. especially because of —

Lae’zel

Hates road trips too but because she’s a terrible backseat driver. Doesn’t understand why you can’t speed all the way there to make the trip more efficient, or take out other cars.

rolls down the window to shout at people on the road who she thinks are driving poorly.

Gets in fights with people at the gas station when you stop to refuel the car. And also in the car with —

Shadowheart

Always there to bicker with Lae’zel. When she’s not doing that she’s brooding out of the window.

Mutters that this must be some sort of trial from her god, because she is suffering being stuck in this minivan.

does fall asleep on the shoulder of the person sitting next to her though. (Often Lae’zel. Weird they always sit next to each other when they can’t seem to get along… but Lae’zel does let her sleep, claiming that the silence is better.)

Karlach

One of the few people who enjoys the ride!

likes to call out farm animals she sees as you drive by. “Sheep!” or “cows!”

LOVES a game of yellow car. Especially the version where you punch each other. Therefore she doesn’t get many volunteers to sit next to her.

Wyll

He controls the music and the aux cord. People all approve of his music tastes. Makes the best playlists, change my mind

he’s often singing along too, he has a nice voice, catch him and Tav belting out “unwritten” at the top of their lungs as you speed down the motorway.

helps settle fights in the van. Massive peacekeeper. If there was no Wyll there would be no roadtrip.

Halsin

Hates being in a car but sucks it up and does it anyway.

this man is the snack master. He brings all the snacks. And good stuff too, like a lot of nice sweets and crisps…

… because if people are eating they aren’t arguing.

likes to be next to a window so he can see nature go by, gets into conversations with Karlach about the animals and trees around 💕

i had a vision while making coffee this morning

bg3 culinary headcanons: Companion Edition

- Shadowheart: absolute zero regard for contamination while cooking. kitchen habits of a permanent bachelor. licks the tasting spoon clean and keeps using it to cook. eats hot cocoa straight out of the container with a spoon. thinks pouring ranch over an entire head of lettuce and eating it like feral animal while holding it over the kitchen sink counts as "salad". if you can get past the contamination thing, the food she makes actually tastes pretty good, even if it's sometimes odd (she cooks like a stoner, despite being perfectly sober. she is just Like That).

- Astarion: perfectly capable of cooking, and actually can cook quite well. food may not taste the same after becoming a vampire, but his enhanced sense of smell tells him nearly everything he needs to know about how to season and cook food properly. he doesn't cook because he doesn't like to (washing dishes? by hand? no fucking thank you, being undead is harsh enough on the nails and skin. finding a good lotion for normal undead dryness is already impossible)

- Lae'zel: in the modern world, if her life took her in a chef direction, she'd be in a Michelin star restaurant as the world's best and most terrifying sous chef. she absolutely would throw a knife at you for fucking up her plating (she'd intentionally miss. the first time). no nonsense is ever tolerated in her kitchen, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's got temper issues (her coldness and lack of tantrums is what makes her terrifying). she'd put Gordon Ramsay in his place for his rage theatrics and then make him weep with joy after serving him the most competent omelet he's ever had in his life. if she likes you, you may address her as "Yes, Chef!" outside of the kitchen.

- Karlach: uses 4 pots to make ramen. not because she's doing anything fancy or elaborate with it, the first pot was too small and started boiling over (whoops). the second one was, oh hold on, that's a cast iron pan, maybe you're not supposed to use that for boiling liquids, huh? wait shit, can't use this one either, i'm not supposed to use metal spoons on nonstick, don't want to scratch it. There we go! this one is the right size! and if i scratch this one, it's fine! wait, where the fuck did the flavor packet go (you should definitely be concerned about leaving her alone for the weekend)

- Wyll: very resourceful cook due to his Blade of the Frontier days. can improvise a meal out of damn near anything. can identify every edible plant and mushroom and tell you how to use it in a dish. would carry an herb garden in his adventure pack if he could. would absolutely thrive on the show Chopped (he's actually banned from auditioning again because it's not fair to the other competitors to have him on). he could make you a dessert featuring rattlesnake and fresh picked clover, and you don't know how or why, but you actually like it

- Gale: approaches the kitchen the same way he approaches most things in his life - academically. knows the proper safe temperature to cook meats/etc to, knows how to brown an onion, knows what seasonings are typically used together for certain flavor profiles and how to match seasonings to proteins. knife work sucks because he uses mage hand for mise en place and his mage hand has shitty DEX, but he's scared of his chef knife from the one time he sliced his thumb open (he was cutting an onion with improper hand placement and the knife slipped)

- Minsc: would exclusively eat by dumpster diving if it weren't for Boo's disapproval. eats like a human garbage disposal. he will eat a n y t h i n g that fits in his mouth, he is the least picky eater you will ever meet. does not understand how food challenges in the show Fear Factor are supposed to be challenges

- Halsin: world class forager. very competent hunter. prefers to eat everything as raw as possible. understands but doesn't believe in strict food safety because obviously stomach acid kills germs (and anyway, a little dirt here and there never killed anyone; exposure to germs is good for your immune system). open-mouthed kissing him is gambling with your health. makes the best vegetarian salads but do not trust any chicken he has "cooked". people with weak CON might want to consider avoiding his food

- Jaheira: uses Talk to Animals to Cinderella/Ratatouille rodents in the kitchen. she commands them like she's in perilous battle and the entire world is at stake (also rodents are worse to direct than cats, they do not know the difference between left and right. there's a lot of "No! Not that cupboard, the other one! NO, the OTHER other one! Flank him, he's off balance!"). making a cup of tea is a convoluted, stressful process that takes 10 times longer than just boiling the damn water yourself

Head canon where one morning Gale comes out of his tent with not one, not two but three hickeys high on his neck. High enough that a high collared robe couldn't cover it.

Everybody in camp hoots and hollers at Gale all morning while he preps and cooks breakfast for everybody.

Karlach laughs at Gale and waggles her eyebrows at him about having a hot night.

Laezel clucks her tongue but does say that such marks are a great sign of companionship(romantic)

Halsin agrees with Lae'zel and deems it romantic to bear a lover's mark.

Wyll will have a teasing remark "A romance for the ages". He also teases that Gale will need to reciprocate these marks with a necklace or earring(maybe even a ring) to have a more constant sign of one's love to keep up with Tav

Gale blusters and blurts out that he doesn't mind the maintenance of such marks.

Astarion and Shadowheart definitely will be tag teaming Gale with snarky teasing. How marks like this are a sign of a possessive, passionate and insatiable lover. How could Gale ever keep up.

They use this as an opening to start giving lewd tips that Gale is adamant he doesn't need but he doesn't make any other attempt to silence them.

Everybody in camp are having a fun time teasing a blushing Gale when Tav stumbles out of Gale's tent just as breakfast has finished cooking.

Bleary and half asleep Tav plops down on a log near Gale. Astarion is about to make a teasing remark about Tav doing most of the work last night when they finally look at Tav's outfit

The first thing they notice is the shirt that's mostly unbuttoned, giving everybody an eyeful of Tav's cleavage and skin they don't usually show.

The second thing they notice is dozens of hickeys and bitemarks littered across Tav's neck and chest.

BG3 Companions and Sign Language headcanons

Shadowheart: she knows sign language. She’s pretty good at it. Why? Being able to communicate silently and without spells absolutely screams of Sharran sensibilities. And this is a skill set that would lean into Sharran things that Shadowheart wouldn’t have any intrinsic need to struggle against. It doesn’t hurt anyone in and of itself. Also I can see her and Nocturne/Renault using it to talk unheard when they were small.

Lae’zel: she’s a soldier and sing language would be very useful on the field of battle — possibly moreso than speech if communicating between dragon riders. That said the sign language she knows is based of Tir’su not common, and is very basic and military in nature.

Karlach: any sign language Karlach knows was picked up on accident and for similar reasons to Lae’zel — she’s a soldier. It would only make sense for her to know a little. It’s not at all good for conversation though, pure utility. And a few swears.

Wyll: Wyll knows a Little sign Language — just enough to help when encountering people who cannot hear or speak in the course of his heroics as The Blade. I cannot see this man encountering a deaf or mute person and NOT taking the time to learn a little in order to be sure no one is left behind in a dangerous situation.

Gale: Gale does not know sign language but he would go out of his way to learn and pick it up quite fast — somatic elements of spell casting and his fascination with words would drive his curiosity and will to learn about it. That said he absolutely will leap before he looks early on and say some astoundingly off the mark things in sign language as he’s learning. (As in mistaking one sign of gesture for another).

Astarion: this man does not know sign language. He knows thieves cant, which is comparable, but not a full language. And it operates on an entirely different “vocabulary” so to speak.

Jaheira: Jaheira knows sign language. She signs it better than you. Don’t ask me why it’s just a feeling.

Minsc: does NOT know sign language. Not even a little. And even if he did I just don’t think he is paying enough attention to pick up on anything you’re saying. Boo, on the other hand, does know sign language.

Halsin: might know a little sign language. I can see it possibly coming up.

Minthara: absolutely knows sign language for similar reasons to Shadowheart. But like Lae’zel the sign she knows is not based off common.

my headcanons for gear that "belongs" on companions:

Lae'zel would be geeking about the cool githyanki loot we get, and she'd refuse to wear anything else, no matter how much "better" it would be for her build

Shadowheart would be really hype about the dark justiciar bits and bobs we pick up at the grymforge and the gauntlet, but then would refuse to wear any of it if you spare nightsong and respecc. then, she'd start dying things fun colors and get a matching set thing going on

Astarion thinks the drow armor is really cool looking (and so do i) and he feels so sneaky and cool while wearing it, so he always does. it's confusing to the rest of the camp at first, but eventually they get used to it and start assuming he wants that hooded drow headgear they just found. he puts all his "normal" fashionable self into his camp clothes

Karlach never wore armor in the hells and she's sure as shit not going to start now, so it takes a lot of convincing from Tav/Durge to get her to even put on a magic amulet or use an upgraded weapon. once she finally does, she thinks it's the coolest thing ever to have a magical item and then starts hoarding anything another companion isn't actively wearing

Wyll is the opposite of Karlach - he's always excited to try out a magical item and brainstorm how it can improve his skills in combat. out of all the companions, he cares the least about how it looks

Gale is hungry, beyond that, idk
