Something I will never not be salty about is that Kwamis choice was Marinette's equivalent of Adrien's Kuro Neko, hitting their lowest points and "leaving bc they got rejected by their superhero partner"

which in Adrien's case wasn't even true, season 4 just had to suddenly pretend like it so Ladybug can get out of the conflict without learning anything and taking 0 accountability because that's the shows type of feminism, but Marinette in season 5 absolutely DID leave bc she couldn't have Chat Noir anymore. Oh how almost pathetically hypocritical.

Anyway, what I was getting to is that Kwamis choice part 1 is Marinette's Kuro Neko and MAN, that really shows off just how much Marinette is getting pampered senseless.

Loving parents who were worried about her, checked on her and baked her goods, Adrien and Alya checked on her, Miss Bustier had the homework being brought to her

And of course Adrien himself did everything in his power to be there for Marinette in the way NOT A SINGLE SOUL BESIDES PLAGG was there for him in "Kuro Neko"

I swear this show constantly pretends like no one had it ever worse than Marinette and she's oh so all alone and yet in comparison to Adrien/ Chat Noir she basically never is??

I WANT to be sympathetic towards Marinette's struggles and feeling of loneliness which has indeed gotten worse since the start of the show, but the show isn't LETTING ME because whatever Marinette thinks her loneliness and isolation are is simply nothing in comparison to the ACTUAL isolation and loneliness Adrien is being put through, in and outside the mask.

In comparing to Adrien in Kuro Neko, Marinette in Kwamis choice is simply being pampered senseless and it's so frustrating bc I hate that the show's writing has left me so unsympathetic towards Marinette in these cases. This IS normally a character story I highly sympathize with but the show is demanding of me to disregard the fact that Adrien/ Chat Noir has it worse and gets NON of the resources and support she has so, no?? I can't ? And that's the show's own fault.

Marinette is just as per usual crying harder and saying that no one will ever understand her pain when like.. gurl, Chat Noir is right tf THERE. Do u think he COULDN'T perfectly understand your struggle too? As if she doesn't know that unlike her HE ACTUALLY doesn't have anyone to confine in. Never had and continues to not get.

Gosh, I WISHED I could feel for Marinette in that episode and Elation too, but Jesus Christ is this hypocritical Towards Adrien/ Chat of season 4 in every possible way.

Like, I do get it. Trauma isn't a competition, and I understand the feeling of knowing that you have so much support around you, but still feeling like you're all alone. I understand that Marinette feels like she's living a lie and that she's all alone. I understand everything she's going through.

In fact, my problems with the way Marinette's struggles aren't because I think she's overplaying them or because I think they aren't valid. My gripe is that the show focuses on Marinette's struggles and Marinette's struggles alone. Like you said, at a certain point, it feels like the show is pushing the idea that Marinette is the epitome of human suffering and invented misery or something. Her struggles are valid, of course they are. But the show also doesn't seem to want to acknowledge Adrien's struggles in the same manner. And like you said, he doesn't even have a support system apart from Plagg the way Marinette does, and the narrative can't even be bothered to acknowledge that.

The show spends so much time on Marinette's struggles that it neglects to focus on Adrien's, or even other characters' in general. Adrien's struggles only matter when they relate to his relationship with Marinette or when they are beneficial to her in some way. Or else, it's just him being an inconvenience to her and he needs to stop being so sensitive and emotional, because that's not what emotional support partners are for. The show continually refuses to recognize how bad Adrien has it until it has something to do with Marinette. Adrien is being mind-controlled by his father and is living in an abusive home, and the abuse and mind-control are only treated as significant threats the moment they start threatening Adrienette.

Again, my problem with this isn't the fact that Marinette has struggles. My issue is that in order to deal with Marinette's struggles, Adrien's struggles are diminished and ignored by the narrative, and asking me to ignore that to focus solely on Marinette just ain't it for me. I wish I could feel sympathy for her, because her situation and her feelings are something I can greatly relate to. But I can't, not when the narrative is pushing her struggles forward at the expense of Adrien's. And Kwami's Choice even had Adrien be the one to bend over backwards to help and support her in ways she never does for him. All his struggles are made into the "Marinette is so sad because Gabriel is abusing her boyfriend" show, and I genuinely can't sympathize with her when this narrative is being shoved in my face.

I don't want Marinette to go "my struggles don't matter because Adrien has it worse!" I don't want the show to say Marinette's struggles are less worthy or less deserving of empathy than Adrien's. I just want Adrien to get some focus and get to deal with his problems outside of just being the perfect emotional support for her to lean on while he asks nothing of her. I want the show to stop pretending that Marinette is the end-all be-all of suffering. It really doesn't help me feel more sympathetic towards her.

any particukar particular reason for the name change of MY WISHMAKER? :0

A few reasons! Mainly 2 reasons, which when you boil it down is actually more like 1 reason.

I expressed it on my Twitter not too long ago and went more in depth about it on my patreon but I worried that the name of WISHMAKER by itself just wasn't strong enough or unique enough of a title. It was a fitting title but not one that is overly unique or that I could stake much claim in. And while the word itself of wishmaker is uncommon for things it's not completely rare either. Jirachi from pokemon is called a wishmaker, Wishmaker is the name of one of the villains in Miraculous Ladybug, there are already a few games named Wishmaker that are mostly small and underground, but there is also currently a Furry RPG in development with the name Wishmaker as well. And something I really care about is a catching title and good search-engine-optimization. I talked about it a bit in the past but I think it's always good to try and make a unique title for your game so it is easy to search for and find. For example when I made INMIMB I knew I wanted it to have a unique title. If I named it something like "The Basement" I knew it would be like picking a needle out of a haystack of tons of other games named things like "Basement" "The Basement" etc. "It's Not Me, It's My Basement" was a unique title that made the game easy to talk about and search for and find. So as I knew I was drawing closer to the release date of the Prologue I really started worrying about it's search-engine-optimization. And while it's a simple additional word I think "MY WISHMAKER" is a more unique title that will be easier to find when people go looking for it, while still being fitting and true to the story.

Second point, same as the first--I figured that for people who wanted to talk about or share things about the game it would be easier to tag and find. Tagging things with simply #wishmaker might mean you have to wade through a few unrelated results to get to what you want but #mywishmaker will be more likely to come up with stuff related to this specific game! And I like the idea of that separation+organization

Okay, it's been a while so here's an additional list of fantasy and sci-fi books with little to no romance in them that I've read recently and really loved.

Once There Was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ by Kiyash Monsef.

An Iranian American girl discovers that her recently dead father was a veterinary for magical animals and that she - like him - has inherited the ability to help these animals because of a family line reaching back for hundreds of generations.

The story deals with grief, rage, neglect and how it all intersects.

But it's also an incredibly magical story that wakes up all the wonder and love for animals that most children have and some never lose.

Interspersed through the book are also short fables and legends that Marjan's father used to tell her when she was young and are now gaining new meaning as she understands that they were more than stories.

(totally also recommend the audiobook version for those who enjoy good narration. Nikki Massoud does a freaking excellent job)

(Marjan does develop subtly budding feelings for someone in the story but it's kept very, very background. On a scale from 0 to 10 the romance reaches barely a 2).

Vespertine ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ by Margaret Rogerson.

A story about a girl named Artemisia who is training to become a Gray Sister. A nun who cleanses the bodies of the dead so that their souls would not return as ravenous spirits that would then threaten the lives of the living.

But then her convent gets attacked by possessed soldiers and she's forced to pick up a sword holding the spirit of a very powerful revenant - a malevolent spirit of mass destruction that could possess her and kill everyone around her indiscriminately - despite not having the training of a Vespertine. So the only one who can teach her what she needs to know is the Revenant itself.

(The main character is autistic, antisocial and extremely introverted. And as for the romance, there is someone who develops feelings for her and we as the reader kinda notice it, but Artemisia the character notices nothing (also, the someone in question is not the Revenant, just thought I should clarify that). Amounts of romance in the book, like 1/10)

A House With Good Bones ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ by T. Kingfisher.

A Southern Gothic light horror with a bit of humor thrown in.

Sam Montgomery is worried about her mother so when her Paleoentomology dig falls through after she's already sublet her apartment for the next few months, she temporarily moves back in with her mother.

The mother who seems to be very stressed out while saying she's fine, and also seems to have acquired a sudden personality transplant. More specifically, she seems to have changed the house from the bright and colorful place it's been for decades, into the cookie cutter, bland (and slightly racist) fifties commercial kinda place it once was under the iron thumb of Sam's dead grandmother.

Is this some kind of weird delayed grief? Early onset alzheimers?

And why isn't there a single bug or insect in the entirety of the back yard's rose garden? Or why does she wake up to thousand's of ladybugs crawling all over each other - and Sam - one night in her childhood bedroom? And what's up with all these vultures staring at their house 24/7?

(Sam's POV is hilarious, her relationship with her mother one of the most genuinely emotional aspects of the book, and the story creepy enough to be exciting without reaching the point that would have made me throw the book down a hole for my own peace of mind. The romance... eh, there's a very nice dude Sam wouldn't mind going out with but it's not all that relevant to anything so amounts of romance don't reach past 2 out of 10).

And finally some special shout outs to some other recently read books that I also enjoyed and that don't really have a lot of focus on the romance but that I don't feel like getting into rn.

Thornhedge ⭐⭐⭐⭐ by T. Kingfisher, Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ by Heather Fawcett (okay this one's a bit heavier on the amount of romance but it gets points for not being annoying and still doesn't reach past 4 out of 10 in its amount, would recommend this book for people who enjoyed The Memoirs of Lady Trent), Translation Slate ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐by Ann Leckie, The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter ⭐⭐⭐⭐ by Theodora Goss (the daughters of classical book scientists like Frankenstein, Dr. Jekill and Mr. Hyde, Moreau and others come together to solve some White Chapel murders and maybe uncover a society that has been doing human experiments on women. 0.5 out of 10 on amounts of romance).

i have so many fucking thoughts about the miraculous movie.

the motivations and characterization was just seriously rushed. they didn’t show me jack shit, they just needed characters to accomplish certain goals and told us they were doing it and that it made sense, but there was no heart or real motivation.

the songs were generic and had little to no personality, they sound like they were written to be relatable and easily streamable rather than to be character portrayals.

it really feels like they were afraid to really get into miraculous lore, everything was so watered down. it made no sense for them to have a lovesquare rather than ladynoir because adrien and marinette barely interacted.

many of you im sure filled in the gaps by things you know from the series, but that’s not how this movie should function. it’s clearly an au and needs to be standalone. if you hadn’t seen the show, would you really think an adrienette ending made more sense than ladynoir based on how it was set up? on that, were ANY ships set up particularly well? marinette goes from truly being annoyed but chat noir but less than 2 minutes ago was terrified and didn’t want to be ladybug at all but now is sassy to him? not only that but she really wasn’t all that competent and clearly disliked chat, why was he so obsessed with her competence and insistent on being with her? it wasn’t explained well and i felt like the writers just expected me to remember the origins episode instead of what i’d just watched here.

on that note… why does everyone want gabriel to be redeemed so badly? why do you feel it’s so appropriate for him to be redeemed here? not all villains need redeemed. this seems to be the major difference between zag and astruc; chloe and hawkmoth are both redeemed /watered down to be likable in this movie. astruc holds his ground and says some people can be redeemed but not everyone will. like real life. because some people are assholes.

don’t get me wrong, i don’t love lila or chloe’s exaggerated evilness. but 1) it’s a fucking superhero drama, without assholes we run out of secondary conflict inherent to the genre 2) hawkmoths exaggerated evilness is what gives him SPICE, taking it away from him here just leaves him so goddamn bland. oh the terrorist wants to be redeemed bc he was sad about his wife despite saying he had nothing to lose even in the movie with a fucking child? nah. no way. fuck that.

chat noir was fucking weird about his crush. 0/10 from me.

i did like marinettes clumsiness and her general disaster aura and how it has a real effect on whether people like her or want to be around her — the show grew out of this by s2, similar to the montage here, but it’s more prominent here. i like this clumsiness and social anxiety portrayal slightly more. but s1 will always have a bit of my heart for disasternette

very little got explained well; i felt like i was relying on the show for lore to fill in very basic gaps which isn’t good for a standalone movie. the lore in general wasn’t well explained.

the whole time i sort of just wished i was watching this in the show tbh. another what-if situation. i’d love for the alt versions to meet and exchange lives for a day to point out the differences.

no sentimonster adrien here. where is the lore. :(

other ppl said this better but adriens story and motivations are nonexistent or very different to the show to the point of unrecognizability. show adrien wanted friends, movie adrien shuts them out. it’s not necessarily the worst change but it does feel odd.

nino and alya were cute separately as friends to the lead characters, but the romance subplot between them felt super forced and rushed compared to their real chemistry in the show.

also you guys hate on astruc so much but zag seems to be the one watering down characters and making them generic and marketable. astruc has the heart of the series and keeps the characters feeling authentic. he lets them grow in truly unique ways and gives them real goddamn conflict unlike the garbage zag led projects lead to.

¡¡IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!: ANALYSIS OF MIRACULOUS LADYBUG FROM T:1-5/SPECIALS/FILM

Hello, very good ones, in view of everything I have posted, I am happy to announce that I am going to start analyzing everything Miraculous Ladybug, all the seasons chapter by chapter, the specials, and the movie, this is so that together we can see and understand what the series is trying to tell us.

I'm going to be honest, I actually started doing analysis much earlier and in season 2 but I realized 2 drawbacks: 1 that the platform I used (twitter) limited me a lot and I didn't realize that I had tumbl and 2 Since all the seasons were connected, I felt like I had to link everything and of course I didn't analyze Season 1 or part of Season 2, so it was chaos, so I decided to do it right and start from 0, so that everything could be understood.

As I have mentioned in my first posts, Miraculous is a very special show that holds magic, and that many people find it difficult to see, and if they did they would see how wonderful it is, I also talked about how it works and that it does not follow the conventional order of a series, but it makes sense, so, with these analyses, I intend to help see more of the series, to see all the clues that the show is trying to give us and so that together we can put together the puzzle.

Having said that, to decipher said "mystery", we need to start at the beginning, because we would start with the opening (yes, in the opening there are clues, believe it or not) and we would continue with season 1 and so on, forward until we reach where the series is stopped...and so we could all find out what season 6, 7 and 8 has in store for us, because 100% sure that the first 5 seasons predicts what will happen in them.

AS A LAST DATA, I TELL YOU THAT ALL THE ANALYSES WILL BE DONE FOLLOWING THE FRENCH LANGUAGE, WHICH IS THE ONE IN THE SCRIPTS AND IT IS THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGE OF THE SERIES, And it happens that when there are adaptations to other languages the words change and therefore , you lose the track, so I'm going to do it respecting the original language and what it means

Individual clockwork beetles are more fancy accessories than weapons, intended to be companions to the wealthy. There are many designs of beetle, from incandescent ladybugs to majestic stag beetles, usually all averaging about the size of a house cat. Despite not being designed as weapons of war, they usually still have some defensive capabilities, letting them function as emergency protectors of their purchasers with razor sharp mandibles (or occasionally horns), and to facilitate this function they have small reservoirs built into them to allow them to carry venom. Many are unaware of this option, but those who do know usually surreptitiously purchase some venom in the case of emergency.

Rarely however, large numbers of these clockworks can go rogue. Sometimes this is by design, a creator building in some form of override switch or failsafe to take control of any of their beetles as needed. Other times it happens with a more careless creator who leaves bugs in the clockwork beetle's programming, causing them to go wild and bond with each other instead of their intended owner. In either case, a swarm of clockwork beetles has no proper goal or plan, simply flying about erratically and getting into conflicts with those who try and intercept it. Ideally, in such a situation the clockwork mechanisms running the swarm would wind down, but in the case of purposefully designed swarms (and some accidental ones) the beetles are capable of winding each other, prolonging the swarm indefinitely until either dismissed or destroyed.

I try to respond to every comment I get, though I'm slow in my responses sometimes. I value getting comments, so responding to them is a way I show my gratitude!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't write angsty endings; I've never really liked them! That said, home is where the fight is leaves our heroes in a pretty precarious situation, though it's implied that they'll win in the end.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

*stares at my wall of HEA fics and asks them to answer for me*

The Overheating of Adrien's Brain, maybe? Adrien's pretty happy in that one!

I've never gotten any serious hate, no. A couple of demanding fans and people who forgot to read the tags, but beyond that, nothing! (May it stay like that forever 🙏)

Nope! I don't read or write smut. It makes me uncomfortable, but it's fine for others to enjoy, of course!

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I don't write crossovers; my brainrot is caused purely by Miraculous Ladybug, so there's no need! I enjoy reading other people's crossovers occasionally though.

Not that I know of! I don't think any of mine have ever gotten popular enough for that lol

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope! But it would be cool if it happened someday.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No, honestly I don't know how that function even works on AO3.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

The lovesquare! I've been a fan of many media and ships that could have dragged me into fandom, but none of them were powerful enough until I came across Miraculous Ladybug. I went from 0 to 100 pretty fast after that lol

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Growing Fangs. (But I will finish it someday!!!!) I have so much lore for it in my head but it's so hard to connect to the published chapters, which are set a decade before the actual plot. Why I did this to myself I will never know!

16. What are your writing strengths?

I've gotten compliments on my dialogue, characterization, and overall writing style, which is nice!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Imagery my beloathed!! I don't quite have aphantasia, but it's hard for me to picture stuff in my head, so trying to write good descriptions is always a challenge for me. The words are words all right, but do they form a picture in someone's head? I can never tell.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think as long as it feels natural and has a translation in the notes or at the end of the fic, it's fine!

Miraculous Ladybug! My first true obssession 🥰

All of them?

I have a lot of fun writing my crack fics, like Erinnerungn't and A Catching Sickness. I also really enjoyed writing "Camembert" and Other Magic Words and A Blessed Curse, and puzzling out True Blue's plot has been a lot of fun!

Félix Graham de Vanily leaned back in his seat, looking away from Chloé Bourgeois with blatant disregard. The view of Paris from Le Grand Paris was the same as always, and if it weren’t for the fact that his mother was returning to the Parisian Branch of Graham de Vanily Films, he wouldn’t have even bothered to entertain this visit to this restaurant in question.

“I won,” Chloé stated, not at all caring that he was purposely ignoring her earlier.

He blinked, confused by the statement.

And then he froze.

Félix finally looked at her, a frown ever present.

“I won,” Chloé repeated herself, looking at him with a sharp look. “Now, are you willing to talk to me? Or do you intend on running back to London?”

As the years passed, Félix was beginning to expect that all the schemes Chloé had in mind would never come to fruition. He grew up with her to some extent, though he made it a point to maintain his distance to the heiress of Le Grande Paris when she befriended his cousin, and he knows how stubborn Marinette can be from their time together…

(But, his mind interjects, a memory of a video coming to mind, a video he wanted to forget. Marinette changed, she wasn’t the same girl he knew.)

“What do you mean?” Félix had practically demanded.

“Marinette.”

He couldn’t help but sour upon hearing her name.

“It’s only been a week since I won,” Chloé continued on, rolling her eyes as she muttered something about him being ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous . “And it’s been a long time since you’ve last been in Paris, but you listen to me, and you listen good, Graham de Vanily,” she said, outright glaring at him now. “I’m not going to tell you off for looking like Adrien and going around as him, but keep in mind that Adrien is my friend, and I won’t hesitate to start a fight just because you hold a grudge against him for whatever dumb thing he probably did.”

“I already got that out of my system the last time I was in Paris. While I’m not fond of my cousin, I find my uncle to be even more displeasing,” he admitted, feeling incredibly annoyed at Chloé. “But never mind all that. What do you mean you won? You’ve never won any of the past wagers.”

Chloé shot him a smug grin. “You can ask her yourself.”

“Oh? And what exactly is she planning?”

“Stay in Paris for more than a weekend, and you’ll know soon enough.”

“You are infuriating.”

“And you are a coward,” she flatly stated.

Rose was smiling sweetly as she listened to Lila’s lies, the voice recorder in her pocket collecting every single word. Alya still seemed a little gloomy about her now soured relationship with Marinette, but she perked up as Lila went on and on about her supposed adventures with Ladybug, with Alya recording for the Ladyblog.

It was laughable, really. There was video evidence of all of Lila’s lies, everything published online that the liar consented to.

Lila was right where Rose wanted her to be.

A wide-eyed look of awe, an eager smile, leaning a little closer as if to hear better, and Lila smiled at the attention.

Even though Alya posted the entire interview online, there were some moments that were edited out, some of which were side conversations unrelated to Ladybug and other celebrities, but were lies nevertheless. Everything was evidence, every word a note for her downfall.

“And then what happened?” Rose would ask, making sure to ask questions to keep the lies going, to make the lies bigger and longer. Details, details, details…

She didn’t want to turn Lila into a martyr of some kind, nor did she want to make her an outcast at Dupont. Marinette seemed to simply want her out of Paris — which was understandable. Lila was akumatized multiple times, and an individual like Lila shouldn’t have access to such a destructive power whenever something would upset her.

And yes, Rose did want Lila out of France in its entirety, but she wanted more than that. She wanted her reputation destroyed, to be outed as a liar, to always be doubted.

She wanted revenge for what Lila’s done.

So, she’ll be patient. She’ll make sure Juleka is kept at an arm’s length away from Lila. And she’ll help Marinette with her plans and secrets, just like she did in their days at Notre Dame .

After all, Rose Lavillant was the pretty flower of Le Jardin for a reason.

Claude Sainté-Pierre would like to think that he was pretty used to the unexpected.

Sure, the whole Papillon thing did put a damper on things. And yeah, Chloé’s tyrannical tendencies had been getting worse as the years went by without Félix and Marinette keeping her in check, but it’s better now! Which was probably a red flag, but it was a small mercy, and he’ll gladly take it. And then there was the whole thing where half of Mme Bustier’s class seemed to kind of worship some random transfer student from Italy that nobody had heard about til then.

Everyone pretty much knew who she was because of the Ladyblog, and she was cool for a while, but then it started sounding like she was bragging about how much better she was. Nobody outside the Akuma Class wanted to talk to her for long.

So yeah, he took everything in stride as much as he’s used to.

And then there was Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

Claude smiled, fake and well-rehearsed, hoping that the girl in question didn’t realize how nervous he was starting to get. She smiled back — yeah, he didn’t think that would work either. For the most part, they were amicable as fellow Class Representatives, content on ignoring the elephant in the room.

When she disbanded her faction, she still smiled at him in greeting, but there was no reason to really talk to each other.

He kind of wishes Félix was in his shoes at this very moment, just so he can laugh it off as his friend being socially awkward as usual. Plus, Félix wouldn’t have to deal with the feeling of intimidation — not that Marinette was being intentional about it, but still.

“I’d like it if you could tell Félix that I want to speak with him,” Marinette smiled, as if she hadn’t just made the most absurd request he’s ever heard.

And while it sounded like a request, it felt more like a demand.

See, people didn’t approach Claude or any of the other Quantic Kids just to talk to Félix because Félix intimidated everyone outside their faction. They did not ask Claude to set up any sort of communication, and they still don’t.

He couldn’t help but narrow his eyes.

“I thought you had the chance to when he last came to Paris,” he pointed out, keeping his feigned smile.

Something flashed in her eyes down to her tiniest expressions — too quick for him to really pin any of it down for long, but there was at least a flash of irritation and fatigue. Huh. Did something happen between them after all?

But… Félix himself confirmed that he didn’t actually see Marinette. His irritation seemed to make sense to Claude at the time, but if Marinette saw him, maybe Félix saw how different she’s become at Dupont and was irritated at that? Ah… the woes of being the most emotionally intelligent member of the Quantic Kids! Félix must’ve gotten jealous and was too frustrated to want to bring that up, after all, he was competing against his lookalike and seemingly pleasant cousin.

“I did have a chance,” Marinette admitted — man , it was jarring to see how quickly she recovered her smile. Granted, she used to be faster at bouncing back up, but Claude much preferred interacting with her in their acquaintanceship as Class Representatives. “However, neither of us were in a mindset to… hold a proper conversation.”

That was probably as much of a confirmation that they did have some sort of interaction. Albeit, a very unpleasant one, but an interaction nevertheless.

“Is that so,” he couldn’t help the brief frown before he quickly recovered, smiling again. “Why come to me about Félix, when you could just as easily get his contact from Chloé?”

“Because, Claude Sainté-Pierre,” Marinette had said with that ever so familiar smile — sickeningly sweet with sharpened eyes. “I have a business proposal for your faction leader.”

Her eyes glinted, as if making a promise of some kind, one that demanded to be asked.

Claude wasn’t sure he wanted to know anymore.

He doesn’t deserve it.

Nino Lahiffe doesn’t deserve yet another chance.

Ever since the disbandment of the factions (or rather, the disbandment of Méticuleuse, if he wanted to be specific), he failed in being a good friend to Marinette.

Part of it was the fear of Chloé’s wrath without the safety net of Le Jardin, another was out of selfish worry. It was nothing more than an excuse for his inaction, because he thought that he was respecting Marinette’s decision by not actively being there as a reminder of the past.

After all, everyone wanted the revival of Le Jardin, of their kind faction filled with friendly faces.

(Except for Nathaniel. He always thought it was tiresome, came a thought he tried to ignore.)

Despite his deliberate distance, he still ended up falling back into Marinette’s circle the moment that familiar spark of confidence had shown itself against Chloé. It started to get better for a while, he started to think that things were looking up. Their group wasn’t Le Jardin, but it was still exciting — he had his own best friend apart from the few he grew up with, Marinette was shyer now for some unknown reason (well, now he knows why, but he didn’t at the time), and she would still hang around.

The spark of affection he felt for her reignited, and then… he realized that a romantic relationship wasn’t what he wanted. Like Alix, he wanted the old Marinette back, the cool girl who smiled and laughed with a spark in her eyes, who knew exactly what she wanted.

And he did have that version of Marinette, just… not with Adrien around. While yes, Nino did think that maybe they’d have a chance to be a good couple — not that he’d tell Alya that — he had his doubts. Adrien didn’t seem to resemble Félix personality-wise, but they were both blonde, probably had a similar stature, and green eyes. He made Marinette more frazzled and a stuttering mess, but Félix unknowingly made Marinette flourish and stand out.

Nino thought that maybe she was projecting a fairy tale romance with Félix onto Adrien, and that if she was, a romance between her and Adrien was bound to fail.

But he still promised to help her before knowing that fact.

That was his second failure to Marinette and their friendship: he didn’t help her with Adrien in the end. And then she moved on and dated Luka for a while — a fact that Alya hadn’t even known until after Marinette started dating the guy in question. That should’ve clued him in on the changes going on between Marinette and Alya.

And then came his worst offense to his friendship with Marinette.

Falling for Lila Rossi’s lies.

He let himself get easily swayed by his girlfriend — he knew that Alya had a one-track mind, that she was stubborn and firmly stuck to her beliefs even if her opinion was drastically wrong. Nino knew what he was getting into when he and Alya started dating, and he thinks that he might even love her, that he wants her to stick around, but he didn’t think about how his friendships changed because of it. He started disregarding Marinette’s concerns because, well, Alya is her best friend, and if Alya says that it’s just jealousy, then clearly it’s just jealousy, right? And he doesn’t hang out with Adrien as often as he used to, and Adrien’s always letting Lila hold his arm, so maybe he’s just in the oblivious crush phase where he doesn’t know a thing about his feelings!

And then it was the little things piling up. Letting Marinette babysit his little brother with Alya’s little sisters. Taking her for granted in her kind nature, thinking that she would be fine with it. Always asking Marinette something here and there, warning Adrien when Marinette does something a little sus. Maybe Marinette’s just under a lot of stress because she does have a billion things to do outside of school — things like that , which would make him doubt her. What if she helped him just to get to Adrien?

At least, he doubted her until the Expulsion Incident. He knew Marinette, he knew she didn’t need to cheat on exams, that she didn’t like to steal anything unless it’s somebody’s phone (which was an inside joke with the former Notre Dame students). And to hear that she pushed a girl she didn’t like down the stairs?

That was a Chloé Bourgeois thing to do, and Marinette’s plans were leagues better than Chloé’s.

He didn’t think that Lila would try to make Marinette be the bad guy in all of this, so he rationalized that maybe it was someone with a grudge against Marinette? Who must’ve looked remarkably similar to their Miraculous Princess. While Marinette and Chloé had an amicable relationship, the Charmante and Méticuleuse faction would either never get along or would be the best of friends and nowhere in between. Friendly socializing or constant antagonizing. There were a lot of people who thought Marinette was a waste of Chloé’s precious time, and ever since Marinette started actively fighting against Chloé, maybe someone in the Charmante faction was targeting her?

By not doubting Lila from the very start, he let his guard down when Lila claimed that she didn’t like Adrien. When Lila claimed this or that. When she claimed to have found the sketchbook and intended on returning it.

One of Marinette’s sketchbooks had paid the price for his blind trust. His girlfriend is perfectly ensnared in a liar’s trap and wouldn’t listen to reason. Nino’s best friend stopped hanging out with him because of that same liar.

His girlfriend.

His new best friend.

He failed Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

His childhood friend since the start of école maternelle, the same friend who was there when his parents divorced. The friend who was always there for him, who looked at all the stylish glasses, and reassured him that he didn’t look like a dork when he had to choose which frames he wanted. The same friend who helped him find his love for music.

The same friend who protected him from Chloé in their Notre Dame days.

And despite it all, Marinette had given him one last chance. A chance that he and the other members of Le Jardin would know that he didn’t deserve it.

Marinette had texted him a picture of a single, yellow sunflower.

His last chance.

. . .

So no , Nino doesn’t deserve another chance, but that doesn’t mean he was a fool enough to reject it.

Watching the MLB Shadybug & Clawnoir special again made me realize something. The special basically, but loosely, confirms that there is a greater than 0 chance that the cringy AUs we all made as young naive fans actually exist in the miraculous multiverse.

But were not here to talk about that, no.

I'm here to talk about the possibility of crossover universes, which admittedly have less of a greater than 0 chance of being real.

The one I wish to talk ideas about is a crossover universe with Star Guardians.

For those who don't know, Star Guardians is a domain attached to the very disliked but very played League of Legends. But f*ck that part. I'm Here to talk about the actual stakes that would come with the team being Star Guardians, instead of holders of pretty, magical jewelry.

The first stake is the pact. To become a Star Guardian one must make a pact with an entity known as the Prime Star, and then protect the universe against evil monsters. This pact however binds them to the Prime Star with chance of retirement being 0 to none. As far as I'm aware, there are only 3 ways a Star Guardian can release themselves from a pact with the Prime Star.

1. DIE!!!!! Be slaughtered, killed and or murdered by a monster on the battlefield.

2. Rebel and become what is known as a dark Star Guardian. They're like Star Guardians ,but edgier.

3. Have the weight of being a Star Guardian fully mess up their mind, after which they'll be corrupted and turned into what's known as a Star Nemesis. They're like Star Guardians, but evil and with a fashion sense.

So imagine our dear old Star Guardian version of Marinette finding out about this. That those are the only ways she can end her pact with the Prime Star. The fact that she and her team members have an equal chance of turning into the monsters they are fighting.

Also, this could easily be worked into Gabriel's backstory, that he and Emily were both members of a Star Guardian team until Emily got full on offed by a monster, which led to Gabriel going ful psycho and attempting to resurrect his wife trough..means.

The whole, Hawkmoth needs the ladybug and Cat noir miraculous specifically to resurrect his wife would not exactly work out in this au, since Star Guardians are not given pre existing gems, they do have them but each one is made when it's respective Star Guardian makes their pact.

Also, familiars. Star Guardians are given helpers/familiars to aid them, like, hello, the kwamis.

Anyway, I've babbled enough. This was my idea, and I've said it. Hope I've gotten some people's interest, but now I shall take my leave.
