the wilds being cancelled, gentleman jack being cancelled, the horrible killing eve ending, first kill not being renewed yet despite massive views...our representation is dwindling and I don't think that's an accident

"Relationships are a lot of work. They require effort and you will have tough times. Sometimes you'll feel like you're losing your way, and sometimes you'll feel like you're losing each other, but the beauty in your relationship will be found in the ways you reunite.

Have you ever heard of Kintsugi? It’s the Japanese artform of gluing (stay with me here); it’s a way of gluing broken pots back together with gold. It actually strengthens the pot. It’s a way of bonding to create something new, something completely your own.”

How long am I gonna be explaining to people, I wonder:
Villanelle is a compelling and relatable character—and so similar to Catra—& her relationship with Eve heart wrenching to watch because she turned herself into a weapon at a young age so no one could hurt her anymore? (And Catra and Villanelle are both power bottoms, and no, that’s not a joke—it’s character info.)
It’s why her backstory episode with her mom in S3, and the final shot of her crying on the train, are so perfect, for all people’s complaints about S3. And then she grew and changed. And Eve came back. And she let someone hurt her. She let someone in.
Because no, most people don’t have mental health scarring to the degree that Villanelle has. (A lot of that—the spy stuff, the Twelve—can be read as a way to personify a general sense of governmental repression anyway.) But there’s something very real about being a soft-hearted person who forced yourself to become a survivor, scrapping from day to day to find any reason to live, and then finally finding someone who understands you and doesn’t want to hurt you.
And for Eve, it was compelling because she was closeted. All the trappings of her old life—from Nico and their flat full of chickens, to her desk job—were symbolic of repressive, misogynistic, comp-het culture as a whole. Villanelle represented burning all of it down: rebellion, anarchy, honesty, freedom.
And it is absolute crap—not to mention WILDLY homophobic—that it would be anything RESEMBLING a “relief” for her to lose that freedom; to say her queerness and desire for more were a phase, and she’d be happier going back into repression.
It’s crap. And it’s one of the many reasons I have to be a writer.

frothing at the mouth actually. still can’t believe she said eve can go back to a “normal” life now where, iirc, she can get married again, live a domestic life. because the obsession with villanelle was just a phase. now she can go back to normal. like do you get it. do you get the biphobic allegory??? and then killing the lesbian the second she became actually happy?? in such a brutal way??? then saying the lesbian’s bisexual partner can finally move on and be normal. okay.

In this house we hate writers who fuck up something good by trying to change the trajectory of the story set up previously..

The way that I was so not okay with Killing Eve’s Season 4 ending, that we did a shoot to correct it 👀

the "it would be depressing for eve to die" remark irks me. eve had been blindly chasing after certain death for 4 seasons & made numerous mentions of not caring if she dies or hoping she dies yet killing her would be depressing? but it's not depressing to kill a character who is trying to be better and expresses wanting MORE out of life from the very beginning of the show only for her to just barely graze happiness and be killed shortly after. THAT is what pisses me off the most

I say this as a Christian — which gives me either more or less clout, idk — but religion had absolutely no place in this story and the way it was handled was honestly offensive to EVERYONE.
If you thought Jesus!Nelle was funny, good on you I guess, but it was a terrible representation of what appeared more as mental illness than a spiritual journey. “Hallucinations” — or whatever you want to call it — were never a part of this narrative.
V dropping to the ground to pray for Eve almost passive aggressively at the tank? Nope. Completely disrespectful.
V asking Eve for help and Eve replying “why don’t you ask Jesus?”… I cringed. That is so dismissive, even if V was less than genuine in her attempts to “be good.”
But hey, don’t worry, the storyline had absolutely no reason for existing beyond ep 2 — except to give LN her bullshit finale parallels to the God/Adam painting and shape blood into “wings” so she could talk about the ascension of a character she clearly hated.
Do you realize the positioning related to that painting was indicating it was literally V’s death that gave Eve life? Not anything Eve had been through. Not anything she learned. Not anything they’d done. V’s death alone. Period. (I’d be happy to break this down if anyone wants a play by play.)
I’ll never not be mad at season 4 for an infinite number of issues. Bathed in a celestial light, my ass. 🖕

What do you think of Killing Eve S4's ending? When I first watched it I think I was just extremely caught up in the moment (and less online, perhaps) so I didn't really explore fan theories on the internet, but I rewatched the whole show and am reading a lot of theories now. It seems like a lot of people believe Villanelle is still alive and that her death was faked, but there are also people who've gone with the ending we saw on screen, so now I am very curious to know what other people think.
