I say this as a Christian — which gives me either more or less clout, idk — but religion had absolutely no place in this story and the way it was handled was honestly offensive to EVERYONE.
If you thought Jesus!Nelle was funny, good on you I guess, but it was a terrible representation of what appeared more as mental illness than a spiritual journey. “Hallucinations” — or whatever you want to call it — were never a part of this narrative.
V dropping to the ground to pray for Eve almost passive aggressively at the tank? Nope. Completely disrespectful.
V asking Eve for help and Eve replying “why don’t you ask Jesus?”… I cringed. That is so dismissive, even if V was less than genuine in her attempts to “be good.”
But hey, don’t worry, the storyline had absolutely no reason for existing beyond ep 2 — except to give LN her bullshit finale parallels to the God/Adam painting and shape blood into “wings” so she could talk about the ascension of a character she clearly hated.
Do you realize the positioning related to that painting was indicating it was literally V’s death that gave Eve life? Not anything Eve had been through. Not anything she learned. Not anything they’d done. V’s death alone. Period. (I’d be happy to break this down if anyone wants a play by play.)
I’ll never not be mad at season 4 for an infinite number of issues. Bathed in a celestial light, my ass. 🖕

I am so angry still.... i am angry because there was a show. Which was SO clever to the point that there WASN'T the tiniest moment in it which wasn't important. It was ART everything connected with everything. Every parallel every callback every little detail S1-2 at least. Season 3 gave us the kiss and dance but the more I think about it the more confused I get plot-wise even tho it would have been an amazing season to tie together the s4 we all hoped for with mutual trust and respect between Villaneve.
But oh boi the season 4 clowning that was something else. We believed so much. We analyzed the shit out of it and it made sense for a long time ( we thought). It made sense until it didn't and we put on MORE an more layers of the clown make up. We believed that we are witnessing a masterpiece which did not exist since s2. But it was all laid out perfectly and we got excited.
We got excited about Carolyn knowing V from the orphanage... explained further ? NO.
We were excited because of the 12 flashback... did it reveal anything important finale-wise? NO
We got excited for Lars being important... was he? NO
Getting excited for the notebook...
Curious about Helene and Carolyn's connection.
Played along with drag Jesus hoping it will make sense.
Curious about why Eve hates V suddenly.
Curious about the time jump.
Curious about Konstantin's letter.
Believed Yusuf, Pam, Hugo, Vlad will make sense.
Curious about why keep Konstantin alive after s3ep8.
Curious whether the 12 plot will get justified
It was all given to us with such a presumptuous way that we believed it will make sense but it did not and it will never make sense.
That's why i am angry still because. Here I am WEEKS after the finale and can't move on because it is unfinished. Because my mind can't comprehend that this show which trained my brain to dissect everything I see because it will make so satisfying sense in the end turned into a show that exploits this notion on purpose and kicks me repeatedly while i am on the ground. It is evil beyond words.

Seeing a lot of hannigram x villaneve gifsets and don't get me wrong, I love them but. Seeing them side by side kinda hurts knowing what we could've had. Standing next to each other many of the villaneve scenes don't hold nearly the same weight as the hannigram ones. The kiss was great, but it would've been nice if we could've gotten the narrative catharsis hannigram had.

now that we've had a few years to ponder it:
i think i feel myself becoming a "stop at the end of season 3" person even though their brief moments of happiness in 4.08 are precious to me. i might give even those moments up in order to forget s4 ever happened. so i'm curious to see where other people fall on this matter!

There’s been a lot of discourse lately about who liked or hated the season (and ending) among the actors, so I’ll throw my 2 cents in.
I have a friend who’s a showrunner and I asked outright what the deal is regarding what they can say if they hate something. The conversation went beyond this, but the immediate response was word for word: “You can’t say shit.”
I know we’ve all assumed this to be the case at one point or another and I know a good deal about contracts and NDAs from the corporate world — they can have massive consequences, including penalties regarding money, career, and even lawsuits.
The gist is this. We don’t know what Jodie and Sandra think and likely never will. It’s all speculation (even if I personally think there have been clues it’s a “no” from them — especially Jodie).
However, it does seem as though Laura and SWG think they made a masterpiece, so feel free to continue to hate on them. Idc.
