Kate bishop who manhandles you a little bit.
Kate bishop who grabs you by your armpits and makes you sit in her lap just to kiss you, play with your hair, toy with the necklace that sits on your collarbones.
Kate who grabs your hips a little aggressively when she teaches you how to shoot a bow. Pressing her own up behind you as she guides your hands on the bow and the string.
Kate who’s so incredibly sweet in public and is the literal definition of a golden retriever but isn’t afraid to rake her hands through your hair and yank it a little when you’re home alone.
Kate bishop who turns a simple makeout sesh into wrestle mania because Yelena taught her a new move and she wants to try it out on you

After finishing the last few touch ups to your makeup you made your way out of the bathroom, happy and content with how your outfit looked.
The scent of your body wash still lingered on your skin as you were freshly showered, your hair was styled to perfection, and you were clad in one of your favorite dresses that you know your girlfriend loves just as much.
Tonight was a very special night for you and Kate. The two of you were attending an event, but not just any event.
Kate would finally be meeting your dad for the first time.
She’s met your mom and brother as well as a few cousins on occasion since the two of you have been dating for almost half a year. However, she’s never had the chance to be introduced to your dad.
Between Kate’s avenger duties and your dad’s job, schedules haven’t always lined up.
Your dad had always been a very busy person since you were young with him being the CEO of a well-known company. Him having to leave for a week or two sometimes for business trips wasn’t unusual as his job keeps him on his toes.
So unfortunately he’s not always home, but when given the opportunity to take time off to be with his family, he does.
Like tonight.
Your family was having their annual holiday party and your dad was coming home to attend, so it’s safe to say Kate would be taking this very seriously.
Hence, why when you walked out of the bathroom and into the bedroom, you were met with a very frustrated looking Kate standing in front of the mirror hanging on the closet door.
She had a frown on her face as she held a tie in each hand, alternating holding one tie up to her collar, then the other.
You watched her from the doorway for a few moments. During that time, she switched back and forth between ties probably about eight times before you noticed her growing more upset, so you decided to step in.
Walking behind her, you placed your hands on her shoulders and gave them a comforting squeeze. She didn’t seem phased by your presence, seemingly still stuck in her head with her current predicament.
“What’s got you looking so upset, hm?” you asked as you gazed at her face through the reflection in the mirror. “You’ve been standing here with a frown on your face since I came out of the bathroom, and who knows how long you’ve been here before that.”
Kate let out a big sigh and met your eyes in the mirror as she gestured to one of the ties, “This one seems like it would be too much,” she held up the other option, “And this one is just plain and simple, but it might be the safer option.”
She stared into the mirror once more, “I don’t want it to seem like I’m trying too hard, but I also don’t want to seem boring.” she said.
Your expression softened as you turned your head to look at her side profile, “Which one do you like with this suit more?”
Kate tilted her head as she contemplated one last time before holding up her final choice, “This one.”
Taking the chosen piece of fabric from her hand, you spun her around to face you and draped the tie around her neck as you began to tie it.
“You don’t think I should go with the other one? What if I just go without it? Or would that make me look too informal?” she rambled, hesitancy evident in her voice.
You looked up to meet her eyes with a comforting smile, “I think you should wear whatever you want to wear.” you said, focusing back on the task at hand. “I also don’t think he’s going to judge you based off of the pattern on your tie, or if you choose not to wear one at all.”
Kate looked at you with masked surprise, but you’ve been with her long enough to be able to see right through her and read her like a book.
“I know you’ve been acting as if meeting him isn’t making you anxious, but I know you.” you said. “If I didn’t know before, I definitely know now since I just witnessed you almost pop a forehead vein over a tie.” you giggled and you heard your girlfriend chuckle too.
“You can relax, Kate, you’re gonna be okay. He’s not a monster.”
Your girlfriend sighed and lightly laughed, “It’s just—”, she started but stopped herself. You gave her a moment to collect her thoughts.
“Getting his approval is really important to me because he’s your dad, you know? He’s really important to you.” she explained and you nodded, letting her know that you were listening.
“So I wanna show him that I’m fit to be dating his daughter and if my outfit will help me make a good first impression, I want to wear a nice one.”
Your heart nearly bursted at her confession and your eyes lifted to meet hers in a loving gaze.
“Oh, Katie,” The pure sincerity on her face was overwhelming enough to make you fall for the tall brunette standing in front of you all over again.
“I love you, so he automatically has no choice but to like you because we both know you don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon.”
You tightened the accessory around her neck and smoothed down her suit jacket. Your hand came up to caress the side of her face with your thumb, “I’ll be there the whole time. It’ll be okay.”
Kate reached to hold your hand on her cheek in hers and turned to kiss your palm. “Why do you always make everything so much easier?”
“It’s what I do.” you giggled, and she smiled before leaning in to press her lips to yours in a tender kiss.
Neither of you wanted to pull away until you had to, so you finally separated once air became a necessity instead of a suggestion.
Kate rested her forehead against yours and gazed into your eyes, “I love you.”
“I love you too.” You smiled softly in return, “Ready to go now?”
She took a deep breath before nodding her head confidently, “Let’s go,”
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
When you arrived the party was in full swing. It was loud with chattering people and an occasional laugh while they sipped on drinks.
You’d already run into your brother and a few other family members who stopped to give you a hug and say hi, greeting Kate in the process too.
It wasn’t very long before you saw your mom making her way over to you with a contagious smile plastered on her face that you easily returned.
“Y/n, you finally made it!” once she was within arms reach she pulled you into a tight hug. “You look so beautiful, honey.” she said as she kissed the crown of your head.
Hugging her back, you giggled, “Thanks, mom. You look amazing too, and the place looks great.”
“Well thank you, darling. And I see you brought Kate!”
She pulled back to address your girlfriend who held out her hand with a kind smile at the mention of her name.
“It’s good to see you again, Mrs. Y/l/n.” Kate said.
Your mom glanced down at her outstretched hand and playfully rolled her eyes, “Oh please, Kate, none of that formal stuff you know that come here.”
Kate was pulled into the same tight embrace you’d been pulled into just moments prior, and she happily reciprocated.
You smiled as you watched two of the most important people in your life easily fall into conversation.
But as you scanned the vicinity of the venue you realized there was one person you had yet to see since you got here.
“Hey, mom? Is dad here?” you wondered.
Hearing the question she went to look around for him as well, but there was no need to when you saw the man in question appear behind your mom with a glass in hand.
“Did someone ask for me?” he said with a grin on his face.
Kate broke into a small smile seeing your face light up. The view calming the nerves she was suddenly feeling just a little bit.
“Dad, hey!” you greeted cheerfully.
He held his arms open in invitation and you gladly moved into them to give him a hug. “Hey, sweetheart. How have you been?”
You stepped back to return to your girlfriend’s side. You’d noticed how nervous she became at the presence of your father.
“I’ve missed you, but I’ve been okay and I have someone I’d like you to meet.” you answered and watched his eyes flicker over to the girl beside you. “Dad, this is my girlfriend Kate, and Kate, this is my dad.”
“It’s so nice to finally meet you, Mr. Y/l/n. Y/n’s told me so much about you it feels like I already know you.” Kate chuckled and held out her hand for him to shake, but she almost took it back now noticing how clammy it was.
She didn’t want your dad to have to shake her sweaty hand.
You watched as his lips pulled into a tight smile, “Likewise”, he glanced down at her hand, but never made a move to take it. “I’ve heard a lot about you too. ” he said.
Kate was clearly very nervous at this point, judging by the way she dropped her hand and you watched her shakily wipe them on her pants. But she kept a smile on face and tried to keep the conversation flowing.
“I-I hope she’s told you all good things?”
Your dad gave a nod of his head as he eyed her down, “The best.”
Silence fell and as you looked between the two it was almost painful how awkward the atmosphere seemed to be now.
Your dad reached out to brush off the shoulder of her jacket, and deciding to help girlfriend you took her hand and squeezed it, “How about we all—”
“Let me talk to you for a second, Kate.” your dad interrupted you to speak to her.
“Dad—”
“It’s okay, Y/n.” Kate looked at you with a reassuring eyes.
You searched them for hesitancy, but she was determined to get him to like her. Yes, your dad did look a little intimidating, but she wasn’t going to be scared away so easily. You nodded and let go of her hand to watch her follow your dad out of sight.
“I’m sure he just wants to get to know her. You know how parents are, honey.” your mom reassured and you nodded.
She was probably right.
Kate followed your dad through the crowd and shoved her hands in her pockets when she was led outside onto the balcony, sheltering them from the chilly air.
“Listen, Mr. Y/l/n, I know it’s late that I’m just now meeting you after being with Y/n for half a year, but I can assure you I would never hurt her. She means too much to me for me to do that.”
Your dad just blinked at her for a moment before speaking, “Kate, do you know that Y/n’s my only daughter?”
The archer nodded her head and he took that as the go-ahead to continue.
“Her entire life her protection has been mine and my wife’s responsibility, and our responsibility only.
Kate didn’t exactly know where this was going, so she just opted to listen.
“And for the first time in her life we have to hand that responsibility over to someone else.” he said before taking a couple steps closer to the tall brunette.
“I know what kind of work you do and I know what all can happen, so I need to know that I’m able trust you, Kate.”
She should’ve known that this would come up. Her job isn’t usual by any means and she knows there are risks. Of course your dad would be skeptical about you dating someone like her.
“I understand your concerns, Mr. Y/l/n. I can promise you that what happens out in the field stays there, we take precautions to make that happen. And you should know that I’d never let anything happen to your daughter. I just want to make her happy because she makes me so happy that it’s the least I could do for her. I love Y/n, so I promise I’ll do everything I can to keep her safe.”
This was the first time she had seen your dad look at her with any expression that wasn’t a glare since meeting him, and it lifted all the weights off of her shoulders.
He held out his hand with a soft smile, “Welcome to the family, Kate. I look forward to seeing you more often. Love the tie by the way.”
You were standing at the bar, waiting on a drink when Kate finally spotted you again. She made her way over to you and placed her hand on the small of your back gently to not startle you.
Recognizing the touch instantly you turned to face her, “Hey, I got you your favorite.” you said just as the bartender placed the drinks down in front of you.
“Oh thank you, my love.” she looked at you gratefully and took a sip of her drink. It was much needed after the stress of tonight.
“How did it go? Is everything okay? He didn’t threaten you did he?”
Kate chuckled at the ramble of questions before shaking her head, “No, he didn’t threaten me. And it went amazing. Everything is perfectly fine.”
Her words made you smile happily and you leaned in to give her a quick loving kiss, pulling away with a giggle and teasing look when she went to lean in for another.
“Told you it would be.”

Drained Embrace
Tumblr media
pairing: Kate Bishop x Fem! Reader
warnings: small angst, kate being mean once :( but she’s just tired! reader feeling bad, fluff , happy ending !! i think that’s it (?)
word count: 1.4K
summary: After a long exhausting mission, Kate wants to go home and relax.
_______________________________________________
The city lights cast a soft glow through the windows as Kate Bishop trudged into the apartment, feeling every ounce of exhaustion weigh her down. Her muscles screamed in protest with every step she took, her mind still reeling from the chaos of the mission she had just returned from. All she wanted was a hot shower and the comfort of her own bed.
The apartment was quiet, besides the gentle hum of the refrigerator that filled the room. The soft click of the door closing behind her barely registered as she dropped her gear by the entrance. It was quiet, too quiet for her liking. She had half-expected to be greeted by the sound of her girlfriend's voice. Kate's heart sank a little as she realized her partner wasn't there to greet her. She had been looking forward to coming home to the warmth of her embrace, but now, all she felt was pure exhaustion.
"Hey, babe, you home?" Kate called out, her voice a tired rasp, as she dragged herself further into the living room, when there was no response, she frowned, letting out a weary sigh and dropped her gear on the floor with a clatter. She rubbed her temples, trying to push away the headache that threatened to consume her. But as she turned around, she was met with the sight of her girlfriend sitting on a couch, engrossed in a book, a tired smile playing on Kate’s lips.
"Hey, Kate!" you chirped, directing your full attention to her. "How was the mission?"
Kate forced a smile, though it felt more like a grimace. "Long," she replied, her voice strained. "I'm just glad to be home."
But you didn't seem to notice the exhaustion etched into Kate's features. Instead, you moved closer, wrapping your arms around Kate in a tight hug. "I missed you." you murmured, nuzzling into Kate's neck.
Kate's muscles tensed at the sudden contact. She tried to muster up some patience, but it was quickly slipping away.
Your smile faltered for a moment, feeling your girlfriend tense under your hold. You patted the space beside you on the couch. "Come sit with me. Tell me all about it."
Kate hesitated, her exhaustion making her crave solitude more than anything else. But she relented, sinking onto the couch beside her girlfriend. As she began recounting the mission, she couldn't shake the feeling of being suffocated by her girlfriend's presence.
With each passing moment, her girlfriend's touches grew more insistent, her questions more probing. Kate felt her patience wearing thin, her exhaustion morphing into frustration.
"Can we do this later?" she said, her tone sharper than intended. "I just need some space right now."
You pulled back, hurt flickering in your eyes for a brief second. "Oh," you whispered, taking a step back. "I didn't realize- I didn’t mean to overstep.. I’m sorry.."
Kate felt a pang of guilt at the sight of your crestfallen expression, but she couldn't bring herself to soften. Not when she felt like she was on the verge of collapsing. With a curt nod, she quickly got off the couch and headed straight for their bedroom, shutting the door behind her with a resounding slam.
Kate sat on the edge of the bed in their shared bedroom, her head buried in her hands. The room was enveloped in a heavy silence, broken only by the soft hum of the air conditioning.
The events of the past few hours weighed heavily on her mind, her heart heavy with guilt and regret. She was exhausted, yes, but she couldn't shake the memory of the hurt in your eyes when she snapped at you. Kate's exhaustion threatened to overwhelm her, her muscles aching with fatigue.
But even as her body begged for rest, her mind raced with thoughts of you, of how she had let her frustration get the best of her.
“Fuck.” Kate mumbled, throwing herself onto the bed. Even though she’s exhausted, her mind filled with worry about you, wondering what you’re thinking about. Wondering if Kate had messed up.
Kate's heart twisted painfully in her chest at the thought of it.
"I'm such an idiot," Kate muttered to herself, her voice barely above a whisper.
But now, in the solitude of their shared bedroom, Kate had let her exhaustion and frustration get the better of her, lashing out at the one person who meant the world to her. And for what? Just for a few moments of peace and quiet? When she could be in your arms right now.
The minutes stretched into hours, the silence becoming suffocating in its intensity. Kate glanced at the clock on the bedside table and sighed. Her mind wandered back to the mission that took place hours ago. The danger she had faced had taken its toll on Kate. She had been running on adrenaline, her emotions raw and unfiltered. And when you had greeted her with open arms, all Kate could think about was how badly she needed space.
Tears stung Kate's eyes as she thought about it more and more. The way she had shut you out when all you had wanted was to comfort her.
She knew she needed to apologize, but fear held her back, fear of facing you, fear of admitting just how much she had messed up, the fear of rejection held her back, anchoring her to the spot.
Kate was everything you could think of, including being someone who overthinks constantly.
As the silence stretched on, a different kind of fear began to creep into Kate's mind. What if you never forgave her? What if she had finally pushed you away for good? The mere thought sent a shiver down Kate's spine, a cold dread settling in the pit of her stomach.
Desperate to push away the thoughts swirling in her mind, Kate buried her face in her hands, willing herself to calm down. She took deep breaths, in and out, trying to steady her racing heartbeat. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the air.
Finally, with a heavy sigh, Kate pushed herself off the bed and made her way to the door. She hesitated for a moment, her hand hovering over the handle, before finally steeling herself and opening it.
The living room was bathed in soft moonlight, you were curled up on the couch, fast asleep. Kate's heart clenched at the sight, her guilt washing over her in waves. She moved closer, kneeling down beside you, her eyes tracing the gentle curves of your face.
"I'm sorry, Y/N," Kate whispered, her voice barely audible in the stillness of the night. "I never meant to hurt you. I was just... so tired, and scared, I didn't mean to take it out on you."
She reached out to brush a stray lock of hair from your face. "Please forgive me," she whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. "I love you more than anything, Y/N. I can't bear the thought of losing you."
Placing a soft kiss to your forehead, Kate rose to her feet and made her way back to their bedroom.
Soft footsteps approached the bedroom door, the door creaked open, and Kate looked up, her breath catching in her throat as she met your gaze. Your eyes were red-rimmed and puffy, evidence of the tears you had shed in Kate's absence.
“Y/N" Kate whispered, her voice barely above a hoarse whisper. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I was just... I was just so tired, and I took it out on you, and I-“
You stepped further into the room, closing the door behind you with a soft click. You moved closer to Kate, your expression softening with each step. "It’s okay Kate," you said, your voice barely louder than a whisper. "I forgive you. I know you didn’t mean it. I should’ve seen how tired you were and given you space, I’m sorry for that.”
Tears welled up in Kate's eyes as she reached out for you, pulling you into a tight embrace. "I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice breaking with emotion. "I love you, Y/N. I love you more than anything in this world."
You melted into Kate's embrace, a soft giggle escaping from your lips. “I love you so much, Kate.” With that being said, you softly pressed your lips against hers.
“Now let’s get some sleep, hm?” You rasped out and guided Kate to lay back down onto the bed as she wrapped her arms around your waist and eventually drifted off to sleep.

The clock struck midnight, a displeased huff fell passed your lips as you faced the reality, pulling the blanket up to your shoulders, and settling into your warm bed; alone once again.
———
Today was different though, she promised to be here, it was your anniversary for heavens sake. Five years together, a whole half a decade, and she missed every scheduled event for the day. You even checked the news, and low and behold there wasn't any earth shattering event taking place, and when you last checked her location it showed her to be at a diner of sorts. There was just no excuse this time, and you were tired, so incredibly so, it's been like this for a few months now, and you dealt with it, but this is proving to be your final straw.
Tears soaked your pillow as you slipped into a restless nights worth of sleep, and after tossing about at five am, having only managed to get four hours of straight sleep you huffed again., "Nope, I'm fucking done.," you grumbled into the painfully empty space, the covers flew off your body and you jumped off the mattress. After taking a shower you returned to the room, gathering every last item of yours to haphazardly toss it into your duffle bag, and taking one last look at the false image of love on the bedside table before slamming the door on your way out of the unwelcoming space.
Kate rushed into the apartment with an excuse at the ready, expecting to find you sat in the kitchen eating breakfast before you had work. Instead of your frowning face she was met with an eery silence, that only got more daunting as she turned the place upside down in search of you, only to find your drawers to be empty., "Fuck.," she rushed out of the apartment just as quickly as she rushed in, and raced off to where she knew you'd be—your sisters house.
Kate pummeled her fist into the door, willing you to be the one to answer, but of course she wouldn't be that lucky as she was met with the deadly glare of Wanda Maximoff, the woman that once warned her about breaking your heart, and judging by the look in her eye she'd done just that., "Please, Wanda, where is she?," she didn't care though, because she was here to fix everything, it was just a misunderstanding., "Bishop, you have two seconds to get off my property, before I do the work for you."
"Please, it's all just a —.," Kate cut herself off when she saw your face, it'd been a few days since she last saw you, but the sight of you so broken was a stark difference to your norm. It broke her heart to see you so distraught, and to know it was her that did it made it even worse., "Y/N/N, please, just let me explain.," she pleaded with you, ignoring the witches warnings in the hopes that you'd talk to her., "It's okay Wands.," you placed a hand to her shoulder, squeezing lightly to let her know this was a necessary step in the process.
"Lucky's at the neighbors, I told them you'd be by sometime this week to collect him.," you said as if this was the most casual of moments., "Y/N I-.," you cut her off once more with the wave of your hand, her eyes widening when she saw the key to your shared home in between the pads of your fingers., "Here you go, I took all of the stuff I cared to, the rest is yours.," she recoiled instantly, arms crossing like a petulant child who was refusing their vegetables but still expecting dessert., "No, Y/N you're being silly, let's go home and work this out. I love you!"
"Yeah, but you don't like me Kate!," your chest was heaving as you aired your dirty laundry out with the love of your life before Wanda's neighbors., "Don't be ridiculous!," she tried, but failed to interrupt you., "A part of you has grown to love me over the years, but you never liked me, you just pretended to because you'll always do what's right Kate, even if it's not what's right for you.," her face fell into an offensive expression as your words hit her hard, she loves every last part of you, and she doesn't understand where this is coming from.
"Yelena though, you do like her, I've never seen you laugh at one of my jokes like you do hers.," your hands furiously wiped away the bitter tears as they trailed down your smooth face., "I'd been hoping you'd prove me wrong, but when you never even made it home last night.," you paused to take in a shaky breath., "I knew."
"Please, don't.," the archer pleaded with you, and you truly looked at her for the first time since she'd arrived on your sister's doorstep. Her heart was visibly breaking, but you knew this was what she needed from you to move forward—or at least you believed that she did., "I'd known that it was over when I cried myself to sleep for the final night. Go home Kate.," and just like that you shut the door, and cast the woman out of your life for good.
Kate fell to her knees, a pained sob etching its way out of her throat, and as if the world was trying to sympathize with her it began to rain. Streams of tears fell from her face as she sobbed, this whole situation could've been avoided had she just fucking shown up last night over being a nervous drunken coward. Now her pocket weighed her down as she slowly returned to her feet, the fabric having been drenched in the rain, but moreover, it was by the enclosed ring meant for your finger.
Directly on the other side of the door you were stood sobbing in your sisters embrace, her arms strongly wrapped around you to provide you with comfort, and Natasha had the same idea as she joined the embrace, and offered you a mug of cocoa piled high with whipped cream and lots of chocolate and peppermint shavings.
Two hearts shattered in the span of seconds, and all it would've taken to fix the mess made was some kind of offered up clarity, but it appeared that further miscommunication was the chosen route for all parties involved...
An entire month flew by without a word spoken between either of you, and that might've been working well for you on your journey to heal, but for Kate it wasn't working well—like, at all. Every night she'd muster up a text, but then your words would ring in her head, the finality of your goodbye causing her heart to shatter further, and for her to erase the pleadings for another chance with your heart.
Yelena was growing tired of being sent to her voicemail so she wandered into the dark home, but quickly ran back out when a field mouse scampered across the floor. Only to return an hour later in the proper attire; a hazmat suit.
"Kate Bishop, get out of that bed.," Yelena shouted, trying to make sure she was heard through the glass of her headpiece., "Oh my god, what is this?!," Yelena shrieked, a piece of what appeared to once be pizza in her hands with a layer of greenery that was never intended for the delicious food to wear present, and in turn making her sick.
Her attempts to get the depressed girl out of bed failed, so she left, and headed straight for Wanda's house in a fit of pure annoyance., "Open up! We need to talk!," she pounded her first into the door so hard it was a shock it was still on its hinges as it flew open to reveal her sister's scowling face., "Privet homewrecker.," the blonde rolled her eyes, then tugged her sister outside of the house., "I'm no such thing, my house is in perfect condition, unlike Kate Bishop's.," the blonde shivered at the thought of her previous encounter, and though Nat was still upset for you, she was also intrigued.
"Y/N needs to make nice-nice with her, she is not doing well Natasha, and it's time we fix it.," Natasha laughed at her sister, as if it was her idea of a good time to play matchmaker., "No, Kate dug her own hole, hell, you even helped her with the shoveling, so fix it yourself, or better yet leave Y/N alone to heal."
"Natalia! Stop it with your silly little American phrases, there were no holes dug, and quite frankly you should know that I don't do the dirty works like that.," the blonde was growing frustrated, never once had she known that you thought her and Kate were falling in love, if she knew she'd have told you ages ago that there was no need to worry., "You were the reason it all ended Yelena, take some responsibility."
"I am what?," she gasped in offense., "I didn't do anything, they just poofed into a breakup."
"Seriously Yelena? The way you two used to flirt openly, and frequently was obvious to all.," Yelena frowned at her sister's words., "I don't understand, I thought friends flirted over here, is that not the custom? What about all of the sleepovers in the movies where they do it?!"
Natasha groaned as she realized the mess she now found herself in, because for every line of miscommunication sowed by the lot of you, it was now up to her, and of course her girlfriend to unweave the mess of broken people in the hopes of putting all your lives back on track., "Fine, I will help you, have Kate ready by tomorrow at two, and I'll bring Y/N."
Kate was a real piece of work, but after a round of convincing her you'd be there she got up. Entering the shower to rinse off the filth of a week, and while she did that Yelena quietly ushered in a maid service to handle the mess while she herself sat atop of a dresser to shelter away from the freely frolicking rodents.
Kate reentered her room a little shocked to be able to see the floor again, as well as to find a freshly ironed purple suit, with a sheer black top to go underneath, and the box she'd hidden beside it with all her selected pieces of jewelry. A nervous smile took over her face as she looked herself over in the mirror, tugging on the suit jacket to adjust the fit, and then after a moment's time she finally responded to Yelena's fist hitting her door by following her out of the apartment's and to a park.
Natasha told Wanda everything, and it wasn't hard for her to believe it, she knew you'd never felt like enough for the archer, so for you to have come to your conclusions the way you did truly adds up. In a moment of blind solidarity she took your side, and even though she knew there had to be more to the story she wasn't going to push you into investigating it.
From an outsiders perspective you looked fine, even appeared to be doing swimmingly, but Wanda always saw through your facades. An unbelievable ache still held your heart tight in its grasp, and she's more than thrilled to be playing a part in helping to ease it. Even if you're being an unbearable brat as she tugs you to central park for a proposed picnic with her girlfriend., "I don't want to be a third wheel."
Wanda ignored your grumblings for what felt like the zillionth time, reminding herself that it'd only be a few more moments before all of this would be over, and she could return to her paused program; The British Baking Show.
"Shut up, and sit.," she finally responded, her tone left no room for questions, and she smiled when you settled without a rebuttal., "Now you stay here, I'll be back in just a moment.," she lied, then scampered off to meet her lover, and her troublemaker of a sister behind a tree.
You hummed a comforting tune while perusing through the picnic basket, the food selection was perfect, but the more you sorted through it the more worried you became. Natasha was a health nut, and the lack of healthy options told you this wasn't the picnic you were offered. Felt more like a blind date, and that had you on your feet in no time, turning to run away, but falling back on your ass as you ran into a body.
"Kate?," even worse, your ex, and you'd be a lying son of a bitch to say she didn't look great. Then your heart sunk at the remembrance of the night that she walked away, she didn't negate your statements, let alone return to fight for you to take her back. No, she simply vanished, and solidified your overthinking mind's decision to end the relationship.
"Y/N...," she too uttered your name like a whispered prayer, totally transfixed on your beautiful face that she'd missed so much., "Please, don't run.," she managed to add, taking a seat next to you, and placing her hands over yours to keep you in place. A shiver ran through the both of your arms, and down your spines at the missed, familiar touch, and for a brief moment you relished in the comfort., "Why not? I don't appreciate an ambush."
Kate released a heavy sigh, it was showtime, and she knew this would be the last call if she wasn't careful with her words.
"I do.," you quirked a brow at her shortened statement that gave you nothing., "Like you.," you tried to pull your hands away from her, but she just gripped them tighter, then in a moment of desperation she threw her leg over you to straddle your lap, her hands moving to hold your face., "I like everything about you."
The sincerity in her eyes wasn't hidden, but to your jaded heart it wasn't easy to believe., "Kate, it's okay that you like.," her hands squished your face, causing your words to be muffled, and eventually cut off., "No, it's not okay that I let you believe such nonsense.," she firmly pressed on., "Yelena is a friend, there was never anything going on, and there never would be because I love you Y/N, but more importantly I like you, a hell of a lot really."
Her pointer finger tenderly traced over the lines on your face., "I like the sound of your adorable laughter whenever I tell you a joke, along with these tiny wrinkles that are etched on your face to prove how funny I am.," your brows furrowed at her asinine claims., "I like the way that you are like a total whiz at math, but for some reason you still use your fingers to count when adding up the smaller numbers.," you pouted at that, because how dare she call you out, but also your jaded heart fluttered as she continued to list off such random things.,
"I like watching you make your little crafts, you get so serious and engrossed in your work. It's the way you meticulously put peoples things together that is so inspiring, you're truly the most thoughtful person I know..."
"I like the way that your eyes light up when you see a stray cat waddling by, and the way that you'll drop whatever you're doing to find a way to feed and offer the cat comfort."
"Ooh, and I like the way your brows furrow, creating that little crease between them whenever you're lost in your thoughts.," as she pursed her lips in thought herself you decided you heard enough., "Kate, love, I get it.," her heart soared at the endearing term, and her face mirrored just that as she beamed at you, then she cupped your cheeks and pressed on.
"I like the way your body fits so perfectly to mine, as if you were specifically crafted by the Gods for me.," your lips upturned genuinely., "My very own Greek Goddess.," she teased, then in a bold move she pecked your lips.
"I like the way that you always kept me sane with something as simple as a smile, whenever the world became too much I knew I'd be safe in your arms, and I truly was.," this time as she spoke her voice involuntarily cracked., "I can't say that I like everything that you are always, because that would just be a little far fetched, but goodness Y/N/N, I never only tolerated you, but I will admit I forgot to cherish you."
Her hands shakily reached into the pockets of her suit jacket., "That day...," she mumbled while pulling out a red, velvet box, your eyes widening in overwhelming understanding., "I'd met up with a few friends at the diner, telling them my plans for our big day, but the longer I sat there with a drink in my hand the more my nerves started to take over, and it's crazy, but without you there it was like I couldn't cope. My friends all left, but I stayed, frozen to my seat, and it wasn't until the clock struck 1am that the poor worker had to usher me out."
"I walked around aimlessly for hours, knowing I'd fucked the whole thing up, and it was when the sun began to rise that I raced home to find you gone, and that was my worst nightmare. You're supposed to be planning our wedding right now, but instead you're living thirty minutes away from me, and no longer mine.," you chuckled, slightly catching her off guard, and causing her frown to deepen., "Katie, I think we both know I'll always be yours.," she smiled hopefully as soon as she saw the truth settled beneath your soft smile.
"This thing we've built, it's my most valuable asset, no amount of money or Avenging could come close to what we have here Y/N. I'd give it all up if it meant that you'd be mine forever.," she went to open the box but you were quick to clamp your hands over hers, and you felt bad as she instantly began to cry., "Kate, hey, calm down...," you moved your hands to her face., "I'm not saying a definitive no, it's just a 'let's get back to where we once were,' and then you can propose to me like you originally planned."
Kate couldn’t hold back at the promise in your tone, so she surged forward, and captured your lips with her own. The both of you sighed, as it was a dearly missed affection from both ends.
"This is the part where we stop spying and leave right?," Yelena suddenly blurted, a bit thrown off by the two of you making out., "Yeah.," Natasha agreed., "Yup, definitely.," and with fast steps the witch abandons her post and the sisters follow her in post haste.
The sound of a car screeching effectively got the two of you to separate, seeing the familiar Camry speeding away told you whom it was., “Welp, there went my ride.,” you teased, and the arched looked at you with a teasing smirk., “Good thing I brought my trusty two seater.,” you looked into her brown eyes, finding the way the sun reflected off of them beautiful, and the longer you looked at her you felt this urge. It’d been months since you’d acted upon it, and you found your appetite for food dwindling as the other was roaring at you., “Take me home.”
Kate saw the way your eyes darkened, and she was more than excited for what that meant, but deep down she was more thrilled that you said ‘home,’ you were finally coming home to her. So she obviously wasted no time lifting you, and the picnic supplies up off the ground, and tugging you off towards her purple sports car.
The whole ride was spent in silence, because in the prior moment you were swept away by the romanticism of Kate’s actions, and her words, but now that you were in her passenger seat you felt that former resentment festering. Feeling her hand in yours, though familiar, felt like it was destined to burn you, that if you were to trust her again, she’d just let you down. Loving her was once your greatest strength, and in many ways it was also your weakness. She’d never been held accountable for the hurt she leaves in her wake, and you decided that would be ending tonight; she’d feel it too…
Kate was none the wiser, she happily parked her car, and you kept up the illusion with a smile, and a tender squeeze of her hand.
As you entered your old home the smile that you held was genuine, the place looked the same as how you left it, and that settled you. Kate went to plop on the couch, hoping you’d follow, but you just stood still in the doorway., “Um, Y/N, I just want you to know that when you left I kinda fell apart.,” you bit your tongue at her sudden awkward confession, the anger was finally at its peak., “Good, now you know exactly how I fucking felt every single time you said you’d be here Kate, and then weren’t.”
A smirk took over your face when you saw hers fall, you slowly stalked over to the girl, your hand quick as it gripped her by the throat, and shoved her into the wall., “Y/N.,” your hand only tightened., “No, shut the fuck up, if I wanted to hear you talk we’d be at the park.,” your lips slammed to hers, and she brokenly moaned into your mouth as this newfound aggressive side of you was shockingly exciting.
“Oh, you like that now do you Kate?,” she tried to nod, to scream a resounding yes, but you just cut her ability off even further., “Maybe if I’d been more aggressive then you’d have been here then?,” you chuckled bitterly., “Had I maybe fucked you like a worthless whore then you’d have made it home for fucking dinner?”
Kate gasped when you released your hold on her by tossing her aggressively onto the couch., “Y/N/N.,” she tried to reach out, to remedy the obvious pain in your heart, but she only gasped once more as you slapped her across the face., “No fucking talking slut.,” you grabbed her by her chin, digging your nails into the taut skin., “Do I make myself fucking clear whore?”
Kate nodded dumbly, completely thrown by how excited her body was for this side of you, even though her heart was so clearly aching alongside yours. Her eyes trailed over your face, a whine left her when she saw how you were hurting, and you took notice of the love. For some reason though, what was meant to be reassuring, only made your more pissed off.,
“Take your fucking clothes off, mommy will be back shortly.,” as soon as you left Kate did what she was told as tears of immense regret slowly trailed down her cheeks., “I’m so sorry…”
When you returned to find Kate laying flat on her back, a distant look in her eyes, and fully at your mercy you found yourself to be smirking., “Looks like the slut can listen, good girl.,” she immediately turned her head to face you, and her eyes widened at the sight of you in your lace bra, and with a massive strap harnessed., “Like what you see?,” you teased the woman, the fear in her eyes was obvious, but as you approached her you took notice of her cunt.
In all its bare glory you could see just how ready for you she was, honestly, you could see your strap sliding right on in with ease, but there’d be no fun in that really., “Tell me, what is it you want?,” your hands settled on her bent knees, pushing them down onto the couch., “You.,” you snickered at her., “Well no shit.,” her lip trembled and you rolled your eyes.
“For the love of all things holy, I guess I’ll just have to figure it out myself.,” you groaned, but then she whimpered softly., “Y-your mouth.”
“Look at that, you’re finally learning how to communicate, good fucking girl.,” you mocked her, then in a move to prevent her sad response you dove right on in, lapping at her folds, and pulling the wildest of moans from the woman. Kate had never been this turned on in her life, every nerve in her body felt like it was on fire as you ate her out without relent, your tongue was deep within her when she fell over the edge.
It infuriated you that she took so easily to accepting the pleasure, she didn’t even have the decency to ask—no, she just took, and took like she always fucking did, and you weren’t having it at all., “Such a greedy little whore.,” you spat as you raised to face her wide eyes., “Did you forget to ask?,” she gulped nervously when she saw the rage in your eyes., “I-I’m…”
“Save the apology for someone who cares Kate” you smirked., “Mm, because you don’t know the half of how sorry you’re about to be baby.,” your lips slammed to hers, your tongue forcing its way passed her lips, while your hands were roaming over her body, gripping so tightly that you knew you’re fingerprints would adorn the skin of her hips beneath the morning sunlight.
Kate squealed when you pulled back just to suddenly flip her over, then she cried out when your hand landed harshly against her bare ass., “Say you’re sorry like you mean it, and count.,” you took turns laying a slap to each cheek. Your entire body felt impossibly warm the longer you went on, almost like you were drunk with power. It was obvious to you by the slick that trailed down your own thighs that you were finding the way her cheeks reddened, and reverberated with each slap incredibly hot., “I’m so fucking sorry Y—mommy, twenty six.,” her overly pained sobs were what finally broke you free from your dizzying trance.
“I know you are baby, I know…,” you took a second to momentarily offer her reassurance, your hands now caressed the sore skin of her bottom, and though she whined you knew she was grateful for the lighter touch. In a moment of exploration your fingers slid down, finding her dripping cunt awaiting you., “Your cries speak of pain, but my oh my baby, your soaked cunt here drips with another story.,” Kate felt herself clench around nothing as you spoke the truth; as painful as the slaps were, they left her feeling nothing short of desperate., “Please…”
Kate’s body jolted as you slammed two finger’s into her eager hole, and you were shortly rewarded with her broken moans, the pleasure you were bestowing upon her was unending., “You’re taking my fingers so well, swallowing them just how I’d expect your slutty pussy to.,” the woman was quite literally a mess with all the dirty talk, her mind couldn’t keep up, and all you got from her was pornographic moans that brought a wide set smile to your face.
You grunted as you felt her clenching around your walls with every thrust of your fingers, and with the way she was moving in sync with you, you knew she was getting close., “Come on now, remember the rules baby.,” you were excited at the prospect of further punishments, but in all honesty you didn’t think she could take anymore, so you warned her., “Beg for it.”
“Fuck, p-please let me cum mommy, it hurts, I need to let go. Promise to be your good girl.,” you beamed at her first attempt, leaning over her you settled a few kisses along her spine., “Let go for mommy baby.,” you whispered the permission just as your fingers curled inside her, and your thumb swiped over her clit., “There you go, mhm, drench my fingers baby.”
Kate’s body convulsed as stars clouded her vision, she was getting emotional whiplash with the varying degrees of your mood, but in some odd way it only furthered her pleasure., “You look so pretty like this, all marked up, no way in hell you’ll ever forget where you belong again, now will you?,” you flipped her onto her back, with this wave of rage quickly dying as she winced., “It’s okay.,,” she melted into your hand as it cupped her cheek, this glimpse of the you she’s used to was able to make her heart’s aching lessen for the moment., “You’re okay?”
Kate nodded, letting you know that you were okay to continue, and then she whimpered pathetically when you lovingly kissed her for the first time since this whole ordeal started. When your hands held her hips in a tight grip again she prepared herself for total carnality, she knew the pain was still at the surface for you, and if fucking her senseless was your way of releasing some of it she wouldn’t complain.
“Oh fuck.,” the words slipped from her as you pushed the thick head of your strap into her, she hadn’t ever seen this one before, part of her wondered if it was an anniversary gift, or if this was new for your personal collection. A few tears trailed down her temple as she pondered the possibility of you being with another in your months time apart, but she didn’t dwell on it for long because once you bottomed out with an abrupt thrust she was void of thought.
“Fuck, there we go.,” you groaned, totally in awe as you peered down to see how the large strap had her filled to the brim., “Oh shit.,” the sight of your bulge protruding from her belly had you losing all sense of rationality as you aggressively began to pound her into the couch. Kate’s hands were holding onto your shoulders for some sort of grounding as your bodies were moving against one another’s, her nails digging into your skin with every pained gasp you pulled., “Shit, I-I need to cum, mommy please.”
“Of course you do.,” you mocked the woman, then you gave her permission just as your lips met hers to catch her moans with a sloppy kiss. Kate failed to keep up with you as her body was trembling wildly beneath yours, so you simply chose to explore her mouth as she rode out her high, then just as she went to collapse into the cushion you flipped the both of you over., “Don’t pretend like you don’t have more in you, sluts like you always do, and mommy’s in need of her own release, so ride my fucking cock.”
The idea of pleasing you was obviously enough motivation for the exhausted girl to move, she began a slow and steady grinding, ensuring that with each drop down you felt the pressure of it on your aching clit, she watched your face closely and relished in the confirmation of your blissful expressions., “Baby, faster, I’m close.,” your words were choked as you felt the warmth in your abdomen increase, then as Kate began to hop up and down at an increased pace you began to meet her with a fast paced thrust.
Kate watched you fall apart beneath her, and that was what sent her spiraling into her final orgasm of the night, and what left her a crying mess on your chest as she collapsed into you., “I-I’m so sorry Y/N, I didn’t, I never mean to hurt you like this, please, don’t leave me again. I need you here with me—always, please…,” you were still a bit dazed out, but your arms were quick to tighten around her broken form., “Shh, KitKat, I know you’re sorry, it’s okay.,” she shook her head., “No, it’s not. I-I broke you, and I made you think I didn’t like you.”
“You’re right, it wasn’t okay, but it is now.,” you gently pecked her trembling lips., “We’re okay now Kate, just rest now, we’ll clean up in a bit, then we’ll have that big, messy healing talk.,” she gazed into your eyes for a long beat, then after she found truth in your words she settled into your embrace., “I love you Y/N.,” your lips pressed to her forehead., “I love you too Kate.”
Truth be told the two of you had a lot to work through, but in this moment, with the archer lying so vulnerably in your arms you knew you’d be able to mend what’s been broken. Kate Bishop was the only woman you’d ever love, and you’d fight to be the same to her.

"...That newest Avenger, Kate Bishop, is just incredible! Have you seen that video of her shooting that bow? She's insane."
You sighed softly and closed the book you had resting in your lap. You had decided to go to the library after Kate had cancelled another date night to distract yourself from the anger and sadness you felt. Though everywhere you went, Kate is always mentioned.
You left the library quickly, knowing that tears would form in your eyes. You loved Kate so much and it hurt that she put her work over you. You just wanted her to give you the love and affection that she used to give.
You hadn't driven your car to the library because you needed fresh air so you started to walk back to your and Kate's apartment (though it was really turning into your apartment with Kate's absence)
When you arrived at the apartment, your heart skipped a beat. Kate's car was parked out the front. You hadn't physically spoken to Kate in a week and you weren't mentally prepared to see her.
You went to unlock the door with your keys but froze. The door was already opened and had blood smeared on the handle.
You quickly ran into the apartment, "Kate?" Your voice was full of panic and stress. How hurt was she? Could she be dead?
The horrible thoughts started to crowd in your head.
The further you stepped into the apartment, the more blood you saw. It was smeared on the walls, it was on the floor. It was everywhere.
"Jesus fucking christ, Kate. Where are you?"
A loud slam came from the kitchen.
You ran into the kitchen and gasped at the sight of a shirtless Kate leaning against the counter with blood dripping from a massive gash across her stomach.
"Kate, what the actual fuck!" You yelled, making Kate jump in fear.
"I'm sorry, Y/n. I know there is a lot of blood and I promise I'll clean it up after this." Kate hissed out, her face full of pain.
You shook your head and grabbed the first aid kit from under the sink. You didn't know anything about first aid so you handed the kit to Kate.
"Do you want to explain to me why our house is covered in your blood?" You demanded. You honestly felt like screaming at Kate. The anger of her leaving you constantly and now the house being covered in blood was pushing you over the edge.
"It doesn't matter-"
"It fucking matters, Kate. I haven't seen you in a week and I come back home to you being covered in blood!"
"I know, I know! I'm sorry but I had this mission Clint needed me to go on and it went sideways." Kate let out a soft grunt when she pressed on her wound in the wrong way.
"Of course, it's from your work. Kate, do you ever think before you go on missions? Or do you just jump into them without ever thinking how your death would affect people if you died?" You didn't hold back your tears this time. You wanted Kate to see how destroyed she made you feel.
"I do think of that, Y/n," Kate argued. She had cleaned up all the blood and was working on stopping the blood from flowing out.
"Do you though?"
Kate glanced up at you, her eyes were shimmering with unshed tears. You couldn't bring yourself to pity her though. She had hurt you so much and it was her time to hurt as well.
"No- You know what? I can't do this, Kate. We're done." You turned around and started walking towards your shared bedroom with Kate.
When you slammed the door shut behind you, memories that you made with Kate in this room started to come back.
You remember when Kate got some sticky, glow-in-the-dark stars and stuck them to the roof. You remember feeling annoyed because it would leave a sticky feeling but then melted when you saw what Kate had set up.
She had put a bunch of blankets and pillows on your bed, creating a relaxing, fluffy spot to sit. She had a galaxy light pointed towards the roof, creating a space look.
You two had cuddled together and spoken about random stuff for hours. It was one of your favourite memories.
When you were just about done packing all your clothes, Kate slowly opened the door. She had her hand over her stomach and was limping.
"Please don't leave me, Y/n. I need you," Kate whimpered, leaning against the door for extra support.
You scoffed, "You need me now? Yeah, well I needed you months ago when I was doing my big exams and you weren't there for that. I also needed you when I was depressed, yet you weren't there for that either."
"I'm sorry-"
"You aren't sorry, don't pull that bullshit with me." You turned your back to Kate and continued packing, anger flowing through your bones.
"We can work through this! It's just a little bump in our relationship." Kate exclaimed, "My mom knows a person who does couple-"
"Stop it, Kate." You yelled. You were sick of her trying to bargain your relationship and you were sick of her voice.
"I love you
You slammed your suitcase shut and quickly walked past Kate. You couldn't even look at her. You have no idea what Kate was yelling out to you as you left and honestly, you didn't want to know.
All you knew was that an incredible amount of weight had been lifted off your shoulders as you drove away from Kate.

Shit.
You realized you were almost out of tampons. You had enough to last a few more hours. You really didn't want to have to go to the store while bleeding. Hell, you didn't want to leave your apartment while bleeding.
You walk into the living room and see Kate. She's laying in an odd position. Very odd.
"Kate, we are about to run out of tampons," You tell her. As the words leave your mouth so does a slight whimper when a cramp hits. Bloody hell. That's exactly what this felt like and looked like.
"So go buy more, the CVS is like two blocks away," Kate says with a groan. It was then that you realized something. You both always started your period within three days of the other. You had started four days ago.
"I'm on my period," you whine. Kate groans.
"You're not the only one,"
"Why did I have to be a lesbian," you groan and sit in the love seat next to your girlfriend.
"Yeah! I mean straight girls just have their boyfriends do it." Kate sits up and grabs a midol tablet.
She frowns and takes one before throwing the now empty bottle at you. This day couldn't get any beter.
"We go together?" Kate asks. Neither one of you wanted to go to the store while bleeding.
"Fuck," you grumble with a nod. Kate gets up and you go to find your purse. At least it wasn't super cold.
You and Kate exit the apartment and walk to the CVS. It was only a few blocks away. It could be worse, having to walk from the old apartment you two shared was almost 12 blocks.
You both finally enter the store and go straight for the feminine hygiene aisle. You have to drop your lovers hand to pick out the right size.
"Fuck, what size do we usually get?" Kate grumbles. She hates having to buy products, it was a total nightmare. It was hard to remember which brand and what size based on what day
"Light, regular, and super," you tell her. Better safe then sorry.
"Ooh," Kate mumbles as she spots the chocolate section. She smiles before grabbing several of each. She ventures off to find midol.
You spot Clint and he waves. You give him a smile before waving back. Kate returns upon seeing her idol
"Hello Clint," she says. He smiles back at her.
"Lovely week I see," he jokes referring to the tampons, chocolate, and midol you both had picked out.
"Not funny," you grunt and Clint smiles, "I think it was hilarious," was his snide reply before going off to find whatever he came for.
"Let's go," Kate said as you both ran off to the register.
Every month might such, like crazy, but at least you had each other

Caving In
summary: You're on a break when Clint calls you in need of your assistance.
warning: mentions of fighting, blood, injury, cursing
word count: 3,875
a/n: got tired of writing this like halfway through so sincerely apologize if it's shit.
----------
The mug burned hot in your hand; the freshly made coffee nearly boiled within as you set it on your coffee table. The morning had seemed all too blissful for once, and you, yourself, even found it to be questionable. It was nearly Christmas, a holiday you'd hardly gotten to celebrate over the years. You told yourself this one would be different, you deserved a break, and you were determined to get one, but then the loud ring of your cell phone went off, making you recoil at the all too familiar sound. The concept of merely ignoring the call was the first to cross your mind, but it was Clint, and you knew he'd never treat you in such a manner.
"I'm on break." Letting your eyes flutter shut, you gritted your teeth; his faint chuckle sounded through the phone. "I need you."
Being in New York, standing outside some random girl's apartment was not how you imagined your Christmas. You knocked softly, hoping no one would answer and perhaps you'd get the chance to return home, but the door swung open just as your fist left the door, and there you stood in front of the beaming woman whose cheeks were lightly painted pink. "Is clint here?" you tried to look past her into the flat, but it appeared nearly empty. She looked off at you for a moment; her lips tugged into a cheery smile; you would smile back had you not just traveled to New York despite; wanting nothing more than to stay home.
"He's asleep on the couch." she noticed the scowl on your face as she nudged her head towards the living room. "Can I-" her fingers gripped at the door frame, her eyes squinted in question before it seemed to dawn on her what you were asking. "Oh right, of course," she muttered, stepping aside. She watched as you strutted over to her couch, finding the older man peacefully at rest, but then you swung your bag over your shoulders and harshly dropped it onto his stomach. He responded in a second, his shocked, sleepy gasp spilling past his lips.
"Wake up, sleepy head!" You had a grin on your lips, the look you had been giving him far different from the one you greeted her with; she reminded herself not to take it personally. Clint jumped up at the sound of your voice, his tired expression replaced with a look of giddiness and hope, and he embraced you, nuzzling your face into the nape of his shoulder; Kate could make out the heartfelt smile that tugged at the corner of your lips.
"How's the family?"
"Disappointed." Kate knew it had been her fault; she had been the very cause of the reason the two of you could not be at home. He pulled away from you, his hand still glued to your back. "This is Kate." your eyes met hers once more; her expression conveyed that she was flustered.
"I'm-"
"I know who you are." she recounted, eyes suddenly widened and cheeks a bright red. "Alright." you nodded, shooting a slight look at Clint, which he returned with a smile. "So what am I here for?" you turned your attention to Clint, raising a brow and crossing your arms. "I thought we were done with this superhero shit?"
"I was, but Kate needed me, and I need you," he answered honestly, causing a sigh to fall past your lips. "Let me guess." Narrowing your eyes, you looked back at Kate. "Rich girl can't handle her own problems?"
She was taken aback, lips parting, a look of hurt plastered over her once endearing smile. "T-That's not true."
"Isn't it?" you questioned; you didn't mean to snap at her so suddenly; you just did. Kate's head pounded abruptly; the crown of her head felt as though it had tightened completely. "No, I didn't ask for your help," she expressed, nibbling the inside of her cheek; she felt mortified.
"Then why am I here, Kate?" Kate grew silent, chewing at her lips as she shifted uncomfortably, snapping her gaze away from you when Clint spoke up; your eyes had yet to leave her, noticing the faint red in her once bright eyes, her jaw clenched.
"I can't do this without you." Clint declared.
"What even is it?"
Kate got into a real pickle; you almost could pity the girl. She stood as Clint spilled everything to you, catching your eyes a few times, never missing the judgemental glare you had been shooting at her. "Let me get this straight." Letting out a breath, you straightened your posture to look at the pair in front of you.
"You killed a gang member's father?" pointing at Clint; he wore a look of remorse. "Tracksuit mafia."
"Whatever, stupid name. You put Clint's suit on, and now they want to kill you?" you questioned, looking over at the woman who bowed her head in shame. "And you think your mother's boyfriend has something to do with all this?"
"Basically."
"I'm going to kill you both myself if I don't get home in time for Christmas. Goodnight." your tone had been oddly calm as you moved away from the pair, going to some empty bedroom you claimed as your own.
"She means it." Clint gave Kate a slight nod before giving her a reassuring pat on the back. "Get some rest, kid."
---
Kate had been awoken that morning by a loud bang on her bedroom door; she hardly could adjust her eyes before you barged into her room. "Oh good, you're up." your sarcastic tone made her whine lightly, shielding her eyes from the sun. "Katie, if you don't get up right now, we'll be wasting more time. Do you want to waste my time?" There was a sour look on her face that you couldn't quite understand her reaction, so you brushed it off as her not being much of a morning person, but then she spoke. "Don't call me that." Kate hissed slightly, rolling back over in her bed so she could look at the wall instead of your wandering gaze.
You hardly realized you called her anything other than her name; it dawned on you that you only misspoke, but to Kate, the feeling in her chest was a reminder that her father once called her that; it left her feeling sick. "Okay… I've got an idea." you ignored the weight of the air and continued as you typically would.
Kate thought the idea was stupid, but she didn't object. "This is ridiculous," she uttered softly, only then when she stood at the front door, waiting eagerly for the woman to answer. "Oh hush!" you let out a chuckle; perhaps you'd only been trying your best to get into character, but to the woman, it made her lips tug upwards into a slight smile.
The door flew open, meeting her mom's jolly expressions; you gripped the woman's hand suddenly, causing Kate to freeze altogether; her cheeks warm. "Oh, Kate! I wasn't expecting to see you." her eyes soon met yours, causing you to flash the kindest smile you could muster. "Kate, you didn't tell me you had a-" Kate only let out a huff, whispering something about not making it weird.
Sitting alongside Kate, you watched as her mother and the gentleman danced together and giggled. You felt as if you had been intruding on such a passionate time, and you wanted nothing more than disappear entirely; shooting Kate a look, she seemed to feel the same.
She rose, gently taking your wrist in the process, uttering out that she wanted to show you around, but her mother hardly seemed to listen as her eyes stayed glued to the older fellow. Her hold on you remained until you had been out of sight of the pair. "They seem…" you trailed off, not quite having the words to express what you felt towards them. "nice." you decided on; Kate only looked at you, shaking her head lightly, leading you into some office. "This is his, Clint; what are we looking for?" she questioned the man in the earpiece.
"Flash drive," stating it bluntly, you let out a gentle sigh, looking carefully throughout the office.
Kate moved quicker than you, and just as she pulled out what could've possibly been the flash drive you had been looking for, the sound of heavy footsteps sounded in the hall, and your gaze met Kate's worried one. Before you could even process what was happening, you leaped over to the woman, slipping your hands up to cover the length of her cheeks, dragging her down so her lips could meet yours. She seemed stunned for the hundredth time that day but eased into it quickly when the sound of the door handle turned lightly.
"Oh!" his heavy accent sounded throughout the room, quickly breaking away from each other as if you had just got caught unknowingly; Kate had been pretty good at pretending, you thought. Her words came out suddenly, the stuttering word mess slipped past her freshly kissed lips, and she had been fidgetting more. You couldn't help the smile that tugged at the corners of your lips, pressing a finger over the top of them.
"Um… We were just-" her brain seemed to go blank, looking at you for a moment and then the man. "We were…"
"Oh, just say something, Kate!" Clint's voice boomed in her earpiece; she looked at you for support, eyes begging you to say anything because right now, all she could think about was the rushed kiss and the feel of your hands. "I'm sorry, sir. We just got a bit sidetracked." you flashed a shy smile.
"Oh! No worries at all! I know exactly how that is." he offered with a quick smile and wink. "Don't worry. I won't tell your mother." he teased lightheartedly, causing the woman to go impossibly red.
"We should get going, right Katie?" you bit your tongue when you realized you had once again made the mistake of calling her something other than her name. "Katie? I haven't heard that since-" her mother slipped into the office, a look of sadness over her face. "Her father." she finished causing the girl beside you to gulp lightly. It dawned on you all at once, and now all you wanted to do was apologize to the woman, but it seemed to be no use; she hardly even seemed to wanna look at you. "Let's go," Kate spoke softly, her hand finding a home on your back; you could hardly deny how natural it felt.
"I'm sorry." Once out of the house, you spoke, eyes glued to the sidewalk. Ripping her earpiece out and tucking it away, she hardly seemed fazed by your apology. The woman had been miles away; you could tell, purely because her hand never left your waist.
----
With the flash drive in hand and all the secrets unfolded, you could tell that Kate wished she had never gotten into all this. Finding out the truth about her mother must've been heartwrenching, and you could tell by the look on her face that she felt broken. "I'm sorry, Kate." Clint offered a sympathetic smile. "Kate, Clint, and I can handle this," you reassured. The woman suddenly looked at you; her eyes had the same hint of redness from the first time you'd told her she couldn't handle her problems. Kate didn't want you to be right about her, but her heart had been bursting at the seams, and she knew you could see it. You offered a look of tenderness, reaching out to gently overlap her hand with yours.
You saw that she had been human, filled with mistakes and regret; you wanted to help her, take away any trouble. "I was wrong about you, Kate," you uttered, biting the inside of your cheeks when you noticed the single tears that dropped from the corner of her eye. "You're so brave, but you can stop right here."
Kate wasn't sure when you happened to start being so considerate to her; only a few days ago you had been huffing that you had to help at all; she knew you probably only pitied her, but the look in your gaze conveyed nothing more than care. "I need to do this," You seemed tense, giving her hand a gentle squeeze before retreating into your lap. "Let's get ready then."
In Kate's room, you watched as she fished out dresses with shaky fingers and eyebrows knitted. "Nervous?" you called out, leaning back onto her bed; she flashed you a look. "Aren't you?" she paused her actions for a moment, staring down at her choice of dresses. "I've been doing this since I was 16, Kate. I don't feel anything anymore." the tone had been off-putting, snapping her gaze back at you; she noticed the almost discouraged look; you replaced it with a quick smile. "Wear the black one."
"16, huh?" she spoke almost to herself, turning away from the woman when she ripped the sweatshirt off. She understood now why you had been so adamant on that damn break of yours. "Aren't you exhausted?" You shifted in the bed, a slight clear of the throat. Kate had been asking too much, and you were never comfortable sharing your feelings. "They're family." You shrugged. "I didn't have much before them."
"Sometimes, it's better that way." you knew the woman had now been speaking from experience. "So?" Kate questioned, clearing her throat lightly. "How do I look?" Drawing your eyes to the woman, you took in her appearance. She looked stunning in her neatly tailored dress; you offered no compliment; instead, you flashed a friendly smile, rising from her bed, motioning the woman over. Her cheeks burned bright as she took slow steps over to you until she stood directly in front. Her breathing seemed hitched as she looked at you; only now could she recall the quick kiss the two of you shared, and it didn't fail to leave her heart jumping from its place. Your hands settled on her waist, and you watched as her eyes widened; the soft giggle that slipped past your lips made the feeling of her heart worse, and then you spun her entirely.
"Kate…" you spoke into the silence. She could only hum back in question. "Are you wearing your suit under?" you teased, fingers gripping her dress zipper. "No…" she hesitated; a cheeky smile broke onto your lips, shaking your head lightly, zipping up her dress; you softly gave her waist a slight squeeze.
"You're all set."
---
You'd never been to a dinner party before, so to say you felt out of your element had been an understatement, and you wondered if Kate noticed because she kept shooting reassuring smiles your way. You found yourself at the bar, smiling lightly at the bartender. "Gin and Tonic, please." with a slight nod, the man moved quickly to make your drink. A soft hand made itself known on your lower back, looking over your shoulder and meeting her gaze briefly.
For a moment, the scene had felt all too normal. It almost felt like you had been there with Kate as nothing more than her date. "Should you be drinking?"
"It's one drink, Kate." turning to her, you leaned against the bar, meeting her wondering gaze. Clint had made himself busy in the room, scoping out the area, and all the two of you had been doing was gazing at each other; you knew Clint would kiss his teeth if he caught the two of you.
"You look really-" Her words cut short when suddenly, a loud piercing sound coursed throughout the room, the sound of the windows breaking and erupting screams. Kate reacted quickly, pushing the two of you behind the bar. Your heart pounded against your chest as the two of you pressed behind the small bar; it was never like you to feel so anxious; something was different this time.
"Find your mom." your words came out breathless as you rose slightly from behind the bar; you could deal with this. It had only been gunshots, and you've dealt with much worse. A quick hand stopped you, holding tightly at your wrist before she tugged you back into her. Her free hand carefully found your cheek, drawing you in for a rushed kiss; like the one, you had shared in the man's office. When she pulled away, her eyes were wide.
"I'm sorry… I don't know why I just did that." the woman began rambling, cheeks flushed over into an embarrassed blush. Your hand found her cheek gently, pressing a chaste kiss to the corner of her lips. "Kate, we've got other things to worry about." She seemed to be in her own world, worried about something so insignificant. You let your thumb caress the woman's cheek for only a moment before you quickly left her, eyes wide and lips parted.
-- You moved until you found yourself outside; the countless vans and men pouring out showed you how outnumbered you'd been. You had been standing there alone when the man charged at you, the knife in his hand moving vigorously, and his lips wore a cocky smirk. "Just you?" his accent heavy, and when you shrugged, his smile grew, taking a quick step toward you. You reacted quickly, dodging the man's sharp blade, capturing his wrist in your hold, and twisting until his cries sounded. He had been at your knees, mutters of apologies echoed through his screams, you kneed him in his chin to shut him up.
Releasing your hold on his wrist, you noticed the group of men heading your way. You thought you could take them if you moved quickly enough, but the man had been far quicker; his gun was loaded, and no matter how fast you moved, you could never outrun the bullet that headed your way. The warm feeling soaked up in the fabric of your outfit; you hardly noticed it hit you until the sharp pain coursed through your entire abdomen. Letting out a shaky breath, your vision blurred, your breathing hitched.
You could hear the sound of an arrow piercing the man, but all the sounds appeared so faint. your hand softly came up against your stomach, touching lightly at the damp clothes. "Fuck." had been all that you managed to mutter; you were dazed, no longer caring about the threat at hand; you just needed somewhere to rest. You found yourself at the side of the building; your fingers buried deep into your stomach; the bleeding didn't stop. "Y/N! Talk to me." his stern yet gentle voice sounded in your ear, and if you closed your eyes, you could imagine he was right beside you.
"Clint," you whined out, eyes blurring with thick tears, backing yourself against a wall. "It's bad… It's so bad." You slid down the wall until you were seated on the cold ground. "No, You're alright, just stay put." his voice came out shallow; you could tell he had been running. The soft, exhausted cry fell past your lips; your head snapped back against the wall, eyes fluttered shut. You couldn't handle the sight of your hands covered in your blood. "This can't be real." you choked out, shaking your head, but when you looked again, you were covered in blood and now so had the ground beneath you been. Your body felt numb, and you were sure that was scarier than feeling everything because the pain would remind you; that you were still here.
Kate was the first to reach you, her eyes wide, you'd been used to seeing her that way, but now it hadn't been from being incredibly flustered. Kate reached out for you, her hands gripping you tightly, but you still couldn't feel her. she wept, her eyes darting across your body, fingers holding tightly at the thin fabric. Kate wanted to help, but she wasn't sure how; she felt helpless, staring down at you as you slipped in and out. "You're okay. Just talk to me." her shaky fingers softly met your cheek, brushing away your faint tears, but all she had done was leave a trail of blood.
"We gotta get you home for Christmas." she hated how frightened you looked as you gazed up at her hopelessly. You couldn't find the words; it felt like your mind completely went empty; there was nothing; it was all quiet. All you could do was gently raise your trembling hand and settle it on her cheek, but even that was proven difficult when your hand fell against your chest. Your eyes fell closed despite her pleas for you to keep looking at her, her hand softly cradling your head against her chest, and she screamed for Clint to hurry, but everything became quiet for you.
--
Your fingers had been the first to move, lightly feeling the cool covers under you, and then you could feel the wiggle of your toes. Your eyebrows fluttered together in question before your eyes could even open; soft fingers found yours, cradling them with such care that you couldn't help but open your eyes. Your eyes hardly adjusted, but from the outline, you could tell it was Kate. She wore a beaming smile, although her eyes had been red and puffy; she barely looked like herself.
"That's the ugliest sweater I've ever seen." your voice had been hoarse, and only then did you realize how dry your throat felt. Kate returned a soft laugh, her gaze dropping to the Christmas sweater for only a moment before looking back at you. "I got you one."
"Oh, goodie!" Snapping your gaze away from her, you finally got a clear look at the room, overflooding with Christmas decorations; your heart fluttered. "I figured you'd want to celebrate it when you woke up," she explained. Kate knew she should probably get Clint, but she wanted to spend just a little longer alone with you. "Do you like it?" your eyes grew tearful, lips parting.
"I love it." your head settled on the soft pillow, looking up at the woman who still gazed at the room. When she looked back at you, her eyes flooded with tears; she wanted to apologize for getting you involved with her problems, but when her lips parted, all that came out was a shaky sob. "I don't know how I'll ever make it up to you." her voice had hardly been clear through her cries, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. Kate; herself hadn't looked too well with all the bruises that littered her skin.
"Katie, just come here." extending an arm, you allowed the woman to fall into you, her hand settling behind your head as yours found home on her back. She held you as fragile as possible, afraid that her action would harm you. When she pulled away, her gaze held nothing but sorrow, and you couldn't stand the sight, so you reached out, drawing the woman near until her lips met yours.
You might've not gotten the break you wanted, but you found Kate, and that counted for something.

You Can See Me As A Secret Mission
(Kate Bishop/Reader)
Tumblr media
Content: (SMUT, 18+, wlw, top Kate bishop, bottom reader, enemies to lovers, hate sex (kinda??), fake dating/relationship, making out, finger bLASTING, strap on sex, reader has pierced tits because I do)
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Kate bishop has been a pain in your ass since she joined the “new avengers”. Perky, talented, caring, but only you saw what she actually was, a rich girl that always got her way.
After being put on a undercover mission together, will pretending to be in a relationship with her for the sake of the mission push you farther apart, or will it make your realize maybe your feelings are more than meets the eye?
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Does it always take you this long to get ready?”
Your eye twitched in annoyance as you put the final coat of mascara on your lashes. You knew if you were to walk out of the bathroom you’d see Kate Bishop, sat on the couch, scrolling through her phone looking bored.
You could’ve been paired with anyone on the team. Sam, Bucky..Yelena even. Her experience in the field would be appreciated. But instead you were paired with Kate bishop, the rookie. Clint had said that she was ready to take over his role as sharpshooter on the team but you think he really just wanted to retire. Lucky son of a bitch.
Kate was fine, she was good with a bow and could throw a punch, but she lacked precision. Often going out on her own and putting the whole mission at risk. It was extremely frustrating for someone who had worked most of their late teens and early twenties to be where you were. Her rich girl attitude showed through on more than one occasion, like when she forgot that not everyone didn’t go to a private school for all of their school career, or that most people rely on the subway to go from place to place and don’t get chauffeured.
In return to your shitty attitude to her, Kate had taken a liking to rolling her eyes and scoffing at things you said. Proving to you that she was smarter than you by correcting things you had said, and you most favorite of all, taking any chance she could to embarrass you. The endless nicknames that spew from her lips never ceased to make you want to punch her perfect teeth out.
You needed no further proof that Kate Bishop was an overgrown child, and not ready to be an Avenger.
“I have to look the part, do I not?”, you poked your head around the corner, you were correct with your prediction. Kate rolled her eyes and gave a weak glance up from her phone at you. Her eyes lit up at the sight of you however.She took in your figure, covered in some slinky black dress that showed way too much cleavage for your liking.
You could’ve sworn she licked her lips after she checked you out for what seemed to be the second time. You hated to admit it, but she looked good, too good for your liking.
Gone was the athleisure you normally saw her in, traded in for a black suit, her black undershirt’s top two buttons undone and a thin silver chain was visible hanging over her collarbones. Her hair still up on her usual ponytail and a dark purple polish on her nails. You stared for probably too long than was normal for someone who didn’t like their mission partner.
The two of you were supposed to play the roles of a young millionaire and her fiancé that were interested in purchasing some illegal weapons that were rumored to be made out of vibrainium. Tonight was a party at some exclusive bar for potential clients of the group, so you were to look your best so the two of you could scope out the scene. If your cover was blown tonight, the whole mission would go up in smoke.
Luckily for Kate, the role would come naturally. For you? Not so much. Pretending to be in love with Kate was difficult. Sure she was attractive and funny and considerate for the most part, but you were all business whereas Kate wanted to dilly dally a bit too much. Too different for anything to actually work.
The click of a camera brought you back to your senses.
“Yelena is never going to believe you’re wearing that”, Kate snickers and snaps another picture.
“Kate are you serious!? Cut it out!” You take a step forward and reach for her phone, which she holds out of your reach.
“Aw cmon, you look nice. Gimme a twirl” she gestures a twirling motion with her fingers. she’s sincere with her words, but her actions speak louder as she continues to play keep away with you.
“I’m serious Kate DO NOT send that” you reach across her, cleavage in her face, her phone almost in hand. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think she was looking.
With one slip of your hand off of the arm rest of the couch you were falling. Falling directly into Kate Bishops lap.
The two of you sit in silence for a moment, not sure what to do. Searching each others faces for some sort of answer. You took in beauty marks splashed across her face that you’d never seen before, her full lips slightly parted.
Stormy blue eyes that looked into yours. She was prettier up close. You could smell the expensive perfume she had put on earlier for the first time. She had your stomach doing summersaults. Kate flashes you a million dollar smile and your senses come slamming into you like a semi truck. You’re scrambling back up in an instant before she gets the wrong idea.
“I’ll uh, delete the pictures, sorry for embarrassing you “ she looks like a scolded puppy. She avoids looking at you, choosing to fiddle with the hem of her jacket.
“We’re going to be late”, you say ignoring her apology as you rush over to put on your shoes. Your eyes stayed on the floor as you moved. Kate cleared her throat and readjusted her jacket Trying to brush off what had just happened.
You’re grabbing your purse containing the things you need for the night when you hear Kate rifling through all of her pockets.
“What’s wrong?” You say looking up at her. She’s tapping her her suit pockets aggressively, brows furrowed in concentration.
“We’re missing something”
“I don’t think we are, Kate we’re going to be late and it’s gonna blow our cov-“ Kate pulls something small and shiny out of her pocket with a small “aha!”. Your eyes lock with a diamond engagement ring she’s holding up to the light.
“Can’t blow our cover now can we?” Kate says as she positions herself in front of you on one knee, as If she was proposing. You couldn’t help but roll your eyes as she shook her arms out, and cleared her throat once more.
“Will you do me the honor of making me the happiest girl on the planet, and being my fiancé?” Kate holds out the ring, and looks up at you. Batting her thick eyelashes a few times, lower lip caught in between her teeth as she smirks at you. She’s completely over the top and ridiculous with it, as she is with most things. But it feels a little too real for your liking.
You swallow hard, why were you nervous? You rub your clammy hand down the front of your dress and hold out your hand,Kate obliges and slips the ring on your index finger. She briefly squeezes your hand before she stands back up. You stand there, becoming accustomed to the ring you now bore on your finger.
“We’re gonna be late!!” Kate nags you, mocking your words from earlier. This snaps you out of your thought and you turn around, letting Kate slip a hand on your lower back, not even minding the gesture, as you’re guided out the door.
Kate bishop is going to be the death of you.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Sam had given you specific instructions that tonight was for observing and surveying what exactly these people had on the market. No contact was supposed to be made with anyone. So here you sat, leaned up against a bar holding some drink that was sweating against your hand and had been for far too long.
The music was loud, it was too dark to see much, except for the few vibrainium weapons that were on pedestals illuminated with a blue light, giving the room a blue hue. You scanned the room once, then twice. Looking for anyone that might be of interest. But as for now, it seemed to be yuppy rich people wanting expensive and deadly toys to play with .
Kate fit right in. You watched her leaned up against the bar across from you, laughing and drinking with two girls that were on either side of you. She wasn’t even doing her job, instead taking the mission as a chance to party. You finished the rest of your drink, slamming it on the bar hard enough to make the remaining ice cubes jostle about.
A strange feeling bubbles in your stomach, one that you almost could call jealousy. Maybe it was that or the expensive tequila that had been in your drink. You smoothed your dress down, starting your way towards Kate and her new comrades. If she was going to not take this job seriously, then you might as well embarrass her a little.
Coming up behind Kate, you latch yourself onto one of her arms. Looking at her with doe eyes. She jumps a bit , but turns slightly to face you.
“There she is!! I was just talking about you!”
She smiles at you, pulling the arm you had grabbed from you and wrapping it around your waist. Kate’s hand found its resting place on your ass as she pulled you into her, giving it a light squeeze. Before you could have any reaction to the previous action, the other of Kate’s hands found its way to your chin. She held your face in place as she leaned down, connecting your lips . A surprised noise escaped your mouth and she deepens the kiss, letting her tongue push into your mouth. You couldn’t do anything but kiss back, not wanting to blow your cover and not wanting to let her win in whatever game she was trying to play.
She pulls away and you’re breathless. Kates face is flushed , eyes wide as she looks from you to her new friends.
“I was just telling these nice girls about how you so badly wanted to come to the party tonight and look at the new catalog they have this season!” Kates demeanor has changed from the goofy archer you normally know, to a socialite who knows what she wants.
“We just LOVE this years catalog, we’ve been buying all the latest models from this company for years!” The blonde across from you says excitedly.
Kate side eyes you, and you pick up what she’s trying to get you to notice. This company isn’t new, They’re just getting sloppy covering up their tracks, letting too many of the wrong people into their inner circle.
The two of you converse for some time more, digging up as much information as you can from the girls. Having moved from the bar to a small area of lounge tables and chairs. You watch as people trickle in and out of the party, some looking more important than others. Your eyes are constantly scanning the world around you.
You’re going to sit in the chair next to Kate when she grabs your hand, yanking you down on top of her. She gives a pat to your thigh and continues talking business with the ever growing crowd of people that surround you. This had somehow turned into Kates mission without you even realizing it.
Two can play at this game, let’s kick it up a notch. You lean back a bit, resting your arm around her shoulders, playing with the ends of her ponytail flirtily. Kate looks up at you and smiles a bit.
She rubs her thumb over your bare thigh in a comforting manner and goes back to the conversation. It’s amazing watching her run the conversation. Somehow knowing just what to say to everyone to get the information she wants out of them. She’s dazzling in the dim light of the party. You could almost get used to this.
“Show them your ring, babe” you’re snapped out of your thoughts by Kate giving you another pat to your thigh.
“Huh?” You blink at her. She shakes her head and laughs a little, her eyes flashing you the “ go along or we’ll blow our cover” look.
“Awh don’t be shy, show them the pretty rock I bought you” she removes your arm from around her shoulders and shows off the glittering ring on your finger.
“Oh my ring of course!” You laugh off your panic and wiggle your fingers in an attempt to show off how shiny the ring actually was. The group is filled with “oohs” and “ahhs” as you show it off, Kate smiling proudly at you the whole time. Your heart swells a bit at the attention. Almost believing for a bit that you’re actually engaged and in love, not in some rich guys warehouse on a mission for work.
You didn’t like Kate bishop. She was aggravating, the definition of a spoiled rich girl. Where were these feelings coming from?
“Where did you two first meet?” A voice from the group catches you off guard. You lock eyes with an older woman who has had way too much plastic surgery done.
“We uh…” Kate starts, you can see her losing her cool. You hadn’t come up with a backstory. Rookie move.
“We actually met in school!” You save the day by stepping in with your quick thinking skills. She lets out a barely noticeable breath of relief it technically wasn’t a lie. You HAD met in a class, a class about hand to hand combat, but a class nonetheless.
“And I guess it was just love at first sight” you say through almost gritted teeth. It pains you to say that, because it wasnt. This wasn’t real love, and you two have never gotten along. Physical attraction maybe, but your personalities continuously clashed.
Kate looks up at you once more, a small smile on her lips, “yeah….love at first sight”.
Your eyes meet each other. Her eyes are soft, pupils blown a bit. She continuously strokes her thumb on your leg. Kates acting is a bit too good for your liking.
A ding from Kate’s phone pulls your attention from each other and the other guests continue to chat amongst themselves. She reads it, biting her lip a little. You scoot yourself closer to her, wrapping your arms around Kate neck and reading the message on her phone.
Party’s over. Get outta there. Put together all information collected and send in a mission report by 9am.
It’s a text from Sam, updating you on what to do next. Kate looks at you, giving you a slightly disappointed look before she plants a kiss on your cheek. It’s a long kiss, one that only lovers share when they know they won’t see each other for a while.
She taps your leg to signal for you to stand up, so You oblige. Kate goes around the circle saying goodbye to the people you had met over the course of the night. You trailing behind her, admiring the way she looked in her suit.
God she was aggravating. Was there anything she wasn’t good at? She could charm people with the bat of her eyelashes. Flirt successfully with strangers. Shoot an arrow with a blindfold across her eyes. She was hot and you hated to admit it. She was perfect and that’s what you hated.
It was like you had come out of a haze now that you were off her lap. You were mad that she had charmed you THAT easily. Just like every other person in the Kate Bishop fanclub. You huff, grabbing her hand and dragging her towards the exit, not wanting to play the roles of young lovers anymore.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The room was eerily quiet as you both got unready. Fleeting glances towards each other, never meeting the others eyes.
You swallowed hard as you sat down on one of the couches to take off your heels, “Was tongue really necessary?”. You had broken the silence and now there was no going back.
“What?” Kate looked up from fiddling with her shirt buttons.
“The kiss, at the bar. Did you REALLY need to swap spit with me like that ?”
“Well I thought it was funny”
you scoffed at her. In shock that an hour ago you were thinking about how maybe you could get along and maybe have something more.
“You’re insufferable, you know that?” You say with a dirty look in her direction.
“Lyings not a good look on you. The noise you made told me that you were into it”
She laughs at her comment and you roll your eyes, letting a more awkward silence fall over the room.
“I think you might actually like me a little bit, she jokes half to herself and half to you.
She looks over to you, lightly biting her lip a little.
“You seemed a little into the act tonight, that’s all I’m trying to say”
“Shut the fuck up”, you snap at her.
Kate puts her hands up defensively and continues to unbutton her shirt. You sneak a glance at her, catching a look at her toned stomach. It made your face flush a bit before you continued working on unzipping your dress.
The zipper catches midway through your back and you groan. You tug it up and down a few more times in an attempt to free yourself. Kates eyes follow the noise of the zipper and she sees you struggling. She makes her way across the room, her black dress shirt unbuttoned and hanging untucked around her form. The purple lace bra she wore under it being exposed ever so slightly.
You attempted to ignore her, confining to tug on the zipper. But her exposed skin was so tempting to look at.
“Do you need some help?”
“No I don’t need your hel-“, you start to protest her intervention.
“Turn around” Kate demands.
You shut up, listening to her and turning around. Kate sighs and gently moves your hair to one shoulder. Her fingertips are gentle on your exposed back, touching you like you’d break.
You don’t dare to look back at her or else you might do something you regret. You feel her grab the zipper as she begins to work it free.
“Why do you hate me?”
Kate asks casually as she continues her work. It catches you off guard. In the time you’ve known her you’ve never known her to be this blunt. Your voice catches in your throat. The big and bad attitude you had five minutes ago slipping away quickly.
“I don’t hate you”
“Then what’s with the attitude”
You weren’t sure if you were lying or telling the truth when you say you didn’t hate her. The last few hours have been making You rethink everything.
Kate gives a yank to the zipper and it moves freely. Once she’s done you turn to meet her, still holding your dress up. She hasn’t moved, opting to stand and stare at you.
“Kate I-“
What were you going to say? You hated her? She drove you insane? You weren’t even sure anymore. You take a closer step to her,
“You make me feel frustrated. I’m not sure in what way, but I’m frustrated beyond belief by you”
She she searches your face, saying nothing.
“I’m confused, okay? There..are you happy?Did you get what you wanted out of me?” You’re exasperated with her lack of response.
You wait for a response from her for what feels like forever. Her brows are furrowed as she stares at you. You almost could swear that she was looking into your head. You couldn’t decipher what she was thinking. Her blue eyes dark, consumed in consideration. You’re about to walk away when she finally opens her mouth to say something.
“Do you want to find out exactly how I frustrate you?”
She’s close. Closer than you’ve ever been. She’s close and the air is tense, like a bomb ticking about to go off. Her eyes are on your lips, flicking between them and your eyes. She fiddles with a stray piece of hair resting over your shoulder.
“Kate what does that mea-“
She’s grabbing your face, colliding your lips in an explosion of frustrated passion.
You kiss her back hard, harder than you’ve ever kissed anyone before. A whine escapes your mouth. You’re fighting for dominance, and losing pathetically. Your arms are slung over her shoulders. Desperately clawing at her hair.
“Yes-“ you gasp for air when she pulls away, “I want to find out so fucking badly “
Atleast two years of tension had just blown up in your face. Two years of tension that you couldn’t name for the longest time, and now you could.
Kate had upset you so much because you liked her. You liked her giddiness for new things, her almost naivety to how non rich people live. You loved the millions of questions she asked Sam. How she teased you, even if it drove you up the wall. This girl drove you insane and you loved it.
She pounces on you, shoving you up against the nearest wall. Biting at your lip, you submit to her. This was a losing game, there was no point to fighting her. Kate would win, like she always did.
You’re panting when she pulls her mouth off of yours, dragging your bottom lip a little with her. Your unzipped dress finally gives way and falls to the floor. Kates eyes meet yours and then look down to the black dress pooled on the floor. She moans a little, seeing you in just your bra and underwear.
She’s kissing down your neck, leaving little bites in her wake and you’re breathless. Head spinning over the predicament at hand.
“You think I’m insufferable, but..” she trails off, planting a kiss on your collarbone. Her eyes flick up to yours, looking at you through dark lashes.
“The most insufferable thing is how insanely horny you’ve made me all night”
Your breath catches in your throat at her confession. She kisses down the valley of your breasts, her hands gripping your hips. You moan at her actions. A kiss to your ribs, to your stomach, to just above your underwear.
“Kate..”, your hands are caught in her black waves.
“What Princess? No snappy comebacks now?”
Another moan from your mouth. The nickname slips from her mouth so effortlessly, like she had been just waiting to call you it. She was right though, you had nothing to say for once. You looked down at her, Kate’s mouth mere inches from your aching cunt.
She smirks at you, hooking two fingers around the waistband of your underwear.
“Should I take these off?” She asks so innocently. She punctuates her words with a tug on the band. Her blue eyes burn into yours. You nod your head.
“Words please” she’s playing a game with you. Dangling your pleasure right in front of you.
You don’t want to give her the verbal satisfaction. She is still Kate Bishop after all. And she still presses all your buttons. You press your lips into a thin line and stick your chin up hoping she gets the hint. You are not going to use your words. intertwining your fingers with her hair, you give a harsh tug in an effort to show her what you want. Kate moans.
It makes you wetter.
“Oh and I’m the one who’s a spoiled brat” she lets go of your underwear,snapping it back in place and standing at her full height.
“Kate..” you pout at her jutting your lower lip out at her. She wipes her thumb over your lip, keeping it there. She forces you to keep your eyes on her.
You admire her. The freckle that seems to be right under her right eye. The way her eyes are lined with a darker blue than the rest. Her already kiss swollen lips. She’s close to you as she supports herself against the wall. You reach out, running your hand down her abs, almost letting your fingers reach the top button of her slacks. Kate grabs your hand and holds it in place.
“You knew what you were doing tonight” she smirks at you. You look at her through half lidded eyes and smile.
Kate laughs a little at you. It’s crazy hot.
“Sitting on my lap all night,” she removes your hands from her abs, holding them together in front of you, “in that little dress, clinging to me”
She leans close to your ear and whispers in a low voice,
“I am going to fuck you so hard, you won’t be able to walk”
“In your dreams, Bishop”
You had finally found your voice, her charm had worn off. She laughs again. Looking your face up and down.
You’re whining as she crashes your lips together. It’s messy. Teeth clacking here and there, Kate’s hands grabbing at your ass . You’re grabbing at her back, leaving indents where your nails meet her pale skin.
“And everyone at HQ is going to know that you let Kate bishop, the girl you hate, ruin you” That ignited something in you. Your ongoing feud was no secret, and having everyone know you fucked your feelings out was a little too tempting.
She’s kissing down your neck, sucking bruises that will last longer than you want them to.
“And what if I fuck you?”, You pant, grabbing at the back of Kate’s neck.
“I’d like to see you try”
Kate grabs your ass, picking you up quickly and moving you to the nearest bed. She’s reaching behind you to undo your bra.
“Hardly seems fair that I’m almost fully naked
And you still have your pants on”
Kate snorts at your remark, popping the back of your bra and removing it from your body swiftly. Your nipples perk up at the cold air of the hotel room. The metal bars in them glinting in the light, catching Kates eye. She looks at them, briefly licking her lips, and then back to you.
“Is this what you want?”
Kate stares into your eyes as she undoes the top button of her pants. She steps out of them, leaving her in just the matching lace bra, underwear and and her black button up.
“ shirt off too, please” you sit up, batting your eyes at her and jutting out your lower lip in a pout. She shakes her head as she reaches to take the button up off .
“Now you have manners…but remember.. IM the spoiled brat here” she rolls her eyes and throws the bunched up black shirt at you.
You catch it and toss it off the bed, welcoming Kate back as she crawls her way on top of you. She kisses you again , letting her hands explore down your chest. She kneads on your boobs, grabbing fistfuls of each.
You moan into her mouth, pushing your chest into her hands more.
“Eager much?” She pulls away, letting her breathe fan across your face.
“No chance” you laugh at her, your hands grasp both sides of her face as she leans over you. She rolls her eyes at you again, letting one of her hands stroke down to your nipple, where she takes the bar and gives a sharp tug.
You inhale through your teeth holding back a moan, not wanting to give her the satisfaction.
She gives another tug, this time flicking her thumb over the bud of your nipple. She keeps her eyes locked with yours, smirking at you. She’s expecting you to show some sort of reaction.
Your chest lurches forward, seeking more friction from her calloused hands.
The damp spot in your underwear continues to grow as you rub your legs together in an effort to soothe the ache that’s ever growing in your cunt.
She glances down at the movement and looks back to you while biting her lip.
Kate lets her hand travel from your tit, down your stomach and ending right above the elastic to your underwear.
“This where you want me?” One finger slides its way under. You turn your head to the side, not wanting to confirm you wanted her fingers. Lips pressed into a fine line, you say nothing.
She huffs and leans forward, kissing her way up your neck.
“Cmon…you know it’ll feel good” , two fingers push farther down.
You’re holding back moans. Noises only Kate Bishop has been able to elicit from you and you haven’t even fucked yet.
She’s so warm and inviting. You know it would feel so good if she just stuffed her fingers in your cunt and fucked you stupid. But you can’t let her win. She’s always winning, running circles around you.
Kate bites at your earlobe, those two fingers dangerously close to your throbbing cunt.
You whine,not being able to contain the kind anymore. The scent of her lavender body wash looming around you, clouding your better judgement.
“Kate…” you whine her name out. Kate moans at the sound of your voice, needy and desperate.
“Yeah?” She asks, her thumb stroking gentle circles on your skin, a smile on her lips as they’re pressed to your neck.
How could the girl you had hated for so long be treating you so good right now?
“Please…” you whisper out, letting your resolve break.
Kate bishop had won this round.
Those wandering fingers abruptly enter your pussy, earning a loud moan from your mouth.
You jolt upwards, back arching and pressing your nipples against Kate’s lace covered chest. She continues to thrust her fingers in and out of you, occasionally letting her thumb brush up against your clit.
“I told you it’d feel good” she whispers into your ear. You moan at her words, she’s right. It feels fucking fantastic. She’s managing to hit all the spots that make you see stars. Your head leans back, making eye contact with the ceiling as Kate picks up her speed. She’s curling her fingers as she sucks marks down your neck, eventually leaving a few on your breasts.
You grab at her head, threading your fingers into her hair and pull her face into you chest. Kate gives a groan at that as she latches onto one of your nipples. She slides the bar in your nipple around with her tongue, making you groan loudly and tug at the strands of dark hair clutched in your hand.
She continues her ministrations at your core. Every press of her fingers has your eyes rolling back into your skull.
“I’m gonna..”
“You’re gonna what? Cum?” Kate laughs as she pulls off of you. You nod frantically at her. She’s slamming her fingers into you at this point and you’re a moaning mess, only wanting to finish.
Kate’s moving up closer to your face. She presses her forehead against yours, your noses grazing the other.
“Cum on my fingers then”
She thrusts her fingers into your cunt, your juices leaking down her arm.
“Shit, shit Katie”, you’re grabbing at the hand that’s thrusting in and out of you, curling upwards towards her.
Her thumb brushed against your clit, a purposeful circle and you’re unraveling into her.
Her lips find yours again, silencing the pathetic moans that you’re making. Kate moans into you as you finish on her fingers, exactly how she wanted you to. She works you through your orgasm for a moment, giving a few gentle thrusts before pulling her fingers out of you.
You wince a little as her fingers exit you, not letting the grip you had on her wrist go. Kate gently removes your hand from her wrist as she sits up. She gives it a light kiss before she turns her own hand towards her mouth.
Kate locks eyes with you as she slides her tongue up her wrist, collecting your slick before inserting her fingers in her own mouth. She moans a little as she wraps her lips around her fingers, sucking your juice from her fingers for a second before releasing them with a slight ‘pop’.
You blink a couple times, panting. Kate looks at you, and smiles a bit. A cocky, all knowing smile.
“Enjoy the show?” She smirks as she leans back towards you. Her dark hair falls around your face, pieces of it tickling your cheeks.
“Kate Bishop…” you pant a little, looking up at her, “I didn’t know you were such…”, your hands start to explore the plane of her stomach, touching the toned abs that lay there,
“…..a whore”, you smile at her. Your tone laced with malice as you spit out your last word.
Kate scoffs a bit, stopping your hand before you could get your fingers under the waistband of her underwear.
“I could say the same about you, based off the noises you were making”
She gets off the bed, but not before tweaking the jewelry that sat pretty in your nipples. You jump a little, moaning in pleasure.
“Brat”, she says, flashing a smile and laughing slightly before going to her bag and beginning to dig through it.
You sit up a little, admiring the way her purple underwear fits her ass. Your mind wanders to all the times you checked it out during training. God damn Kate bishop and her too tight leggings.
Kates digging goes on for a little too long and your curiosity begins to peak.
“Is your dick in there or something?” You half joke, wanting to know what she was looking for. You laid there, completely exposed to the too cold AC of the hotel room. You already missed Kate being in the bed with you.
“Yeah…Or something” Kate mumbles quietly. The sound of her zipping up her bag catches your attention.
“Kate is that a fucking strap on?”
“You never know when duty is gonna call!”
You sit up slightly, watching as Kate steps into her harness. The purple silicone dick bobs in between her legs, and you swallow slightly.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that, right?”, Kate joins you back on the bed, crawling over you.
“I know I am, and you’re obsessed with me because of it”, she kisses up your neck. Her confidence oozing out of her, you could almost swear you were breathing it in and letting it cloud your mind.
You grab at the ponytail at the back of her head, pulling her mouth off your neck. Kate gives a groan before her blue eyes meet yours.
“I told you I was going to fuck you so hard you wouldn’t be able to walk. I’m a lady of my word”
Kate teases your entrance with her strap, letting it run through your folds.
“Shit Kate..” you half moan half whine as she positions her dick.
“God say that again” Kate moans into your ear . She begins to push her strap into you and you swear you can feel your heartbeat in your throat.
You’re pulling on her ponytail, pulling her head away from you when all Kate wants to do is mark you, claim you as hers.
“Fucking shit Kate..” you repeat, more enthusiastically this time as Kate’s strap finally enters you, fully.
She fills you to the hilt of her strap, your hips almost flush with each another. The base of her dick rubbing sweetly against her clit.
She whines a little, resting her head into the crook of your neck.
“Aw poor baby, do you want to swap?” You coo sarcastically as you rub her back, finding your way to the clasp of her bra.
Kate gives an annoyed groan, punctuated by a hard thrust into your pulsating cunt.
You yelp in surprise, popping the clasps of her bra, watching the straps fall loose around her shoulders. Kate pulls out again and thrusts her hips once more,relishing in the friction she also receives from the motion.
“Just couldn’t keep your hands to yourself, huh?” Kate begins to take off her bra, discarding it to wherever your clothes also lay.
Your hands find her nipples, twisting and pinching them as she snaps her hips into you.
You lean up, swallowing the beautiful whines she’s giving to you as you play with her tits with your mouth.
She kisses you back, letting herself submit to your suddenly surge of dominance.
“So fucking hot..” you mutter as you pull away, letting your eyes drift to Kate’s lust blown pupils, down to where her dick was splitting you in two.
“Could say the same about you” Kate watches your tits bounce with each thrust she gives. Her eyes following the shiny jewelry in your tits. she leans down a bit, taking one of your nipples in her mouth. Her teeth close in one of the bars and she pulls every so gently.
You’re moaning as you grasp at her back, letting your dominant facade fall and letting Kate have the full power once again.
Her hips are slamming into yours, practically humping you like a dog in heat. Your legs wrap around her hips, attempting to put you two closer than you already were.
Kates whining, actually whining. You can see sweat drip down the side of her face, baby hairs sticking to her forehead.
You’re in no better shape. Your back arched up, legs locked around Kate’s waist, sweat traveling down your back and into your asscrack.
“I’m gonna fucking-“ you moan, your sentence not even getting finished as Kate reaches down to rub your clit while continuing her ministrations with her hips.
“Me too…oh my god me too” Kate’s going hard now, chasing her own high. Her thrusts are spastic and uncalculated.
The floodgates open in a minute, and you’re gushing all over Kates cock, and hand once again. A whining, moaning, drooling mess.
She works you through your high, only taking a few more pumps until she’s also finishing. Kate gives a few weak pumps, almost pushing you towards overstimulation before she falls on top of you, leaving her strap on inside.
She gives you a few weak kisses on your chest as you run your fingers through her hair, releasing it from the ponytail.
Kate reached down to remove her strap, making you suck in a breath of air as you an adjust to the feeling.
Once the harness and silicone dick had been removed, she sighs, content as she sinks her face into your chest, fingers rubbing small circles in your stomach.
“I still don’t like you, you know that, right?”, you break the silence first, still playing with Kates dark locks.
“Mhm, and I hate you “ Kate smiles lazily up at you.
You roll your eyes at her. Kate turns to look at you, blue eyes sparkling with mischief.
“Do you think we have to put this on the mission report to Sam?”

Kate was woken up by a persistent ring coming from her bedside table.  She opened her eyes and blinked a few times, trying to adjust to the darkness of the room and process what was going on.
When she realized it was her phone, Kate carefully reached over to grab it as she didn't want to wake you up; who was sound asleep with your head laid on her chest.
She looked at the lit up screen which read Clint Barton. Kate mentally groaned and pressed the green button to answer the phone, bringing it up to her ear, "I swear you're like nocturnal. Do you ever sleep?" Kate spoke quietly to not disturb you.
"The work for a hero never stops. You busy right now?" Clint asks from the other end of the phone.
Kate glances at the clock on the nightstand, "Yeah, it's one in the morning. I'm busy trying to sleep with my girlfriend which is something you should be doing too." she replied before going quiet, thinking about the words that just came out of her mouth.
"I- I'm not trying to sleep with Y/N like- like that. I mean I am, but- but not right now. And you shouldn't be sleeping with Y/N too, obviously. I meant that you should be sleeping with- with Laura, but also not like that, you know? You should be resting your eyes—"
"Are you done yet?" Clint questioned, interrupting her rant.
She squeezed her eyes shut out of embarrassment, "Yeah, yeah I'm done, sorry."
"Meet me at the end of the street in fifteen. I need your help with something." he informed her.
Kate gazed down at you, debating whether to go or not. You got so excited yesterday when she told you that she would take you out for the day today, and whenever she goes on missions everything is very unpredictable. She doesn't know if she'll be back in time to follow through with her promise to you.
But Kate knew she couldn’t turned this down, "Fine. But I have to be back before eight. Y/N's an early bird so she normally wakes up around that time, and I promised her I'd take her out today."
"I'll make sure you're back by then no problem. It should only take a couple hours anyway." Clint assured.
"Okay, see you in fifteen." Kate responded, ending the call.
She sighed and stared down at you for a couple more moments, brushing a few hairs out of your face before slowly slipping out from under you to get ready.
She put on her purple archery suit and the back quiver that held her arrows. She considered just leaving a note on her pillow in case she wasn't back before you woke up, and so that she didn't have to wake you. But she at least wanted to hear your voice before she had to leave.
Approaching the edge of the bed, she laid a hand on your side to coax you awake, "Hey, princess? Can you wake up for me for a minute?" she whispered.
You mumble some incoherent words that were slurred together from your sleepy state, making her lightly chuckle, "Hey, I've gotta run out and take care of something with Clint. Are you gonna be okay here until I get back?" she spoke softly.
At that, you opened your eyes and tried to focus them on her, "Are we still going out later?" you murmured.
"Yeah, of course, baby. I'll be back before you even wake up." she answered, caressing your side to reassure you.
"M'kay." you mumbled. "Be careful, Katie? Don't make any dumb decisions. Promise you'll come back to me in one piece."
A smile crept across her face, "I promise, darling." she leaned down to press a kiss your forehead, letting her lips linger there for a few moments before pulling away.
You frowned and gently grabbed her hand when she turned to walk away, and a confused expression settled upon her face.
"You missed." you said.
She noticed the pout on your lips and playfully rolled her eyes, returning to your side to bend down and give you a few long, soft kisses.
"I love you." she whispered against your lips.
"I love you too." you replied before she grabbed her bow and trotted down the stairs of the loft. Once you heard the front door shut, you closed your eyes to try and fall back asleep, knowing that your girlfriend would be there when you awoke again.
As Kate exited the apartment building and walked down the street, she saw Clint already waiting at the corner.
"Who'd you piss off now?" she joked, approaching the well-known archer.
He scoffed, "No one. It's the same guys from last time. They somehow found more men to carry on their work."
"Alright, let's make this quick. I have a girl to get home to." Kate said, walking past him.
"You say that like I don't too." Clint responded, watching the young girl stride down the street.
"Well then hurry up and let's go!" she called out.
He started jogging to catch up with her, "You're going the wrong way!"
"Okay, move faster and show me the right way!"
~~~
A couple hours later, you woke up once again. You were confused as to why since the clock only read 3:24 am. It was only then that you realized you had to use the bathroom.
You laid there with a sigh, not wanting to get out from the comfort of your bed until you got the motivation to finally get up. Right before you closed the bathroom door, you thought you heard yelling coming from outside. But you brushed it off, thinking that you were just tired.
What you didn't know was that you had heard right.
"Kate Bishop!" a man called from outside, but you didn't hear him now that the door was shut.
There was another yell of your girlfriends name followed by a bottle that was lit on fire being chucked through the window, shattering and setting fire to everything around it.
A few more flaming bottles were thrown through the other window panels, causing the fire to spread even more. Neither the fire alarm or sprinklers in the apartment room went off because they had broken, and Kate never got around to getting them fixed.
So you were completely unaware of the situation until you heard the crashing sound made by part of the ceiling falling down outside the door, effectively blocking it.
When you heard that, you quickly reached to open the door to figure out what was going on. Though you winced, flinching away when your hand came in contact with the burning hot door knob.
You covered the knob with the hem of your shirt to hopefully minimize the heat, but when you tried open the door again you couldn't.
It was as if there was something blocking it. You turned the handle again, pushing on the door this time but it still wouldn't budge. That was when you noticed the smoke coming into the room from under the door, and you started to panic.
There wasn't anything in the bathroom that you could use to block the gap between the door and the floor, so you started banging the door, screaming for help.
"Help! Hello, can anyone hear me?! Help!" you desperately yelled, but deep down you knew that probably no one could hear you.
The longer you were stuck inhaling the smoke, the harder it got to breathe. So you eventually got tired of screaming, and passed out on the bathroom floor.
~~~
Meanwhile...
"Dude, the way you fought all five of those guys by yourself was crazy! You've gotta teach me how to do that thing where you rolled and still made the shot!" Kate said, reflecting on everything that happened during the mission.
Clint shrugged his shoulders, "Their fighting style was pretty sloppy anyways. I don't know if you did it on purpose, but when you did that thing with the flip and then the arms; that was pretty cool."
"I know right! I surprised myself with that one. I didn't even know—" Kate's rant was cut off by something that sent an unsettling chill down her spine.
"Hey, Kate Bishop!" she heard a man's voice call out.
She looked at Clint with furrowed eyebrows, turning down the street of her apartment building. But the scene that she was met with made her heart drop.
The infamous Tracksuit Mafia; lighting bottles on fire and chucking them through the windows of her apartment, flames engulfing the floor.
Black smoke poured out of the windows and into the outside air. At that point, there was only one thing at the top of her concerns.
"Y/N." Kate whispered to herself, shrugging off her bag of arrows and dropping her bow to the ground, darting down the street with Clint hot on her heels.
"Kate Bishop! Nice of you to finally show your face!" One of the tracksuits spoke up when he saw her.
But the smile was wiped right off of his face when Clint punched him square in the nose. He took care of the rest them, holding them off while Kate made a b-line for the front door.
She unlocked it with trembling hands, and then bolted up the stairs, taking them two at a time.
"Y/N?!" she called out as she opened her apartment door, the amount of smoke stunning her, "Y/N, baby?!?" Kate yelled again before coughing into her elbow.
She ran around the apartment, looking for any sign of you. When she came up empty handed, she took the stairs up to the loft multiple at a time. She noticed that the blankets on the bed were pushed back, yet you were nowhere to be found.
Her eyes quickly scanned the room, pausing on the bathroom door that was obstructed by debris. Kate rushed to the door, almost tripping on her own feet in the process.
"Y/N?! Baby, are you in there?!" she yelled, pressing her ear against the door. "Please, say something if you can hear me!" Kate practically begged. When she got no response she attempted to haul away the rubble blocking the door.
Kate struggled a lot, but she was determined.
After moving the last piece of wood with a grunt, Kate swung the door open, choking on the smoke that left the room. Once she could see clearly, she saw you lying on the floor, unconscious.
"Shit, Y/N!" she cursed, swiftly kneeling before you.
Kate put her ear to your nose to make sure you were still breathing, which she thanked god that you were even though the breaths you were taking were uneven and shallow.
She lifted you into her arm's bridal style and stood to her feet, "Alright, baby. We're gonna get you some help, okay? I've got you." she reassured even if you couldn't hear her.
Kate exited through the fire escape just as Clint knocked out the last tracksuit, "Clint!" she yelled to get his attention.
"Is she okay? Is she still breathing?" he spoke out of breath, approaching her.
"Yeah, but she needs actual help, Clint. I don't know how long she was in there before I got her out, but she's struggling to breathe. We need to get her to a hospital." Kate said, listening closely to your breathing.
"Kate, you know we can't go to the hospital under these circumstances. It's dangerous." he responded.
"I know. I know the risks, Clint. But, she needs professional help and we can't give her that. So please, help me get her to the hospital." Kate was pleading, tears threatening to gloss over her eyes.
The sounds of sirens could be heard from around the corner, making Clint sigh, "Okay, let's go." he said and they quickly made their way to his car that he parked on the side of the road earlier.
Clint got into the drivers seat while Kate slid into the backseat so that she could still hold you, "See, baby? We're getting you help. You're gonna be okay." she softly spoke to you.
Kate started to take your hand into hers until she noticed the red mark forming on it. She held your hand out to examine your palm, her thumb ever so gently caressing below the burn.
"I've got you now, princess."
When Clint pulled in front of the hospital, they bursted through the emergency room doors, "Can somebody help us, please?" she called out in an urgent manner.
A doctor led her to an empty bed for her to lay you down on, "What's her name? What happened?" he asked.
"Her name is Y/N. There was a fire, and she passed out i'm assuming from the smoke. It took me a few minutes to find her and get her out, but I don't know how long she was in there for before that." Kate quickly explained.
"Alright, let's get her on oxygen and an IV." the doctor ordered his colleagues.
"She's gonna be okay, right?" Kate asked as she moved to your side, holding your non-injured hand.
"We treat cases like this all the time, but I can never promise anything." the doctor answered, "In the meantime, you need to get yourself checked out. Your friend as well."
"Me? No, i'm fine. What—" Kate was interrupted when a nurse started to lead her to a different area.
"Those cuts on your face and burns on your hand say otherwise." the nurse spoke.
She gave up on arguing, not wanting to cause a scene while Clint did the same, leaving the doctors to take care of you.
~~~
"Hey, how you holdin' up?" Clint asked as he pulled back the curtain of the room Kate was sitting in.
It was about an hour later, and Clint was all bandaged up. The nurse suggested that he take it easy for the next few days, but he obviously was not going to listen.
Another nurse had given Kate an oxygen mask. Although she wasn't in the fire for as long as you, they just wanted to be safe.
Both of her hands were wrapped in bandages to allow the burns on her hands to heal from when she was trying to get the bathroom door open.
Kate took the oxygen mask off of her face to speak, "Fine. You?"
"Same." Clint answered.
They sat in silence; Kate stuck in her thoughts, and Clint trying to read her facial expression, "None of this is your fault, you do realize that, right?"
Kate shook her head, looking down, "Yeah, well it sure feels like it."
"Beating yourself up over something you couldn't control isn't going to get you anywhere, trust me it's just gonna eat you up inside. It happened, so all you can do now is move forward." Clint said, giving Kate some of his dad advice.
"I'm the one who pissed them off. It should've been me in there, not her." Kate spoke in a low voice.
"But it wasn't you, it was her. Y/N wouldn’t haven’t wanted it to be you in there either. So right now she needs you to be there for her, not filled with anger and guilt." Clint put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
Kate took a deep breath, "You're right."
"When am I not." he responded, making Kate roll her eyes.
"But when we get out of here I am planning on beating the living shit out of them." Kate said, only half joking.
Clint shook his head with a small smile, "Now we both know going into fight fueled by rage is a recipe for disaster. Believe me when I say I got a pretty good hit on all of them."
Kate lightly chuckled for the first time since all of this happened. She knew that everything Clint had said was true; it always was. But she wouldn't admit that.
Just then, Kates head perked up at the sound of the curtain being pulled back, revealing the doctor from earlier. She immediately sat up straighter, anxious about what she had to say.
"You're here with Y/N, correct?" the doctor asked.
Kate quickly nodded, "Yeah, yes. Is- is she okay? She's okay right?"
"Y/N inhaled an alarming amount of smoke, so we still have her on oxygen to treat that. She also had a minor burn on her left hand that we wrapped up, but she'll be fine and make a full recovery." he informed the two archers.
At those words, they both exhaled a sigh of relief, a weight feeling like it's been lifted off of their shoulders.
"Thank you so much. Is she awake? Can I see her?" Kate questioned.
"She's not awake at the moment, but she should be anytime now. If you follow me i'll take you to her room." the man answered.
Kate glanced at Clint who nodded his head. She stood up and followed the doctor out of the room. After making numerous turns, and walking down multiple long hallways, Kate almost ran into him when he suddenly stopped in front of a door.
"She's right in here. If you need anything just ask or press the red button on the wall." the doctor said, and Kate mumbled a 'thanks' before he disappeared down the corridor.
Kate opened the door, shutting it behind her before dragging a chair over to your bedside and sitting down. She gently took your right hand into her bandaged ones, letting her thumb caress over the back of it.
She gazed down at you; watching the way your chest steadily rises and falls thanks to the nasal catheter in your nose. Your eyelashes tickled your cheeks, and she reached a hand over to brush some stray hairs out of your face before letting it stroke your cheek.
She wanted to talk to you. To say at least something to let you know that she was there, but Kate just couldn't find the words. Luckily, she didn't have to because your hand shifted in hers as a few tiny whimpers escaped from your lips.
"Y/N?"
Your eyes slowly fluttered opened, but immediately shut again at the bright lights in the room. You blinked a few times so that they could adjust to the light before your tired gaze landed on Kate.
She exhaled in relief when your eyes met, "Hey. Hi, babygirl." she cooed, fixing the hospital gown that had started to slip off your shoulder, "You're finally awake. You gave me quiet the scare." she lightly chucked.
Kate noticed how you were slightly squinting when looking at her, "Are the lights too bright, baby? Here, I can turn them down." she said, standing up to dim the lights before quickly returning to your side, "Is that better?" she asked, and you nodded your head.
"Good. How are you feeling?" Kate questioned, grasping your hand in hers once again.
You took in your surrounding; noticing the monitors and machines beside your bed, the IV in your hand, and the window where you could see all of the people walking back and forth through the blinds.
"I'm okay." you answered before furrowing your eyebrow, "What happened? I thought you were taking care of something with Clint."
She took a deep breath, "I was." she started, "We finished the mission, but when I came home, the tracksuits had set the apartment on fire...with you inside. Clint dealt with them while I got you out when I realized you were still inside, and then we brought you here." Kate had to slowly explain since the memory of it all would haunt her forever.
You didn't exactly know what to say as you were just in shock. You didn't really know how everything had happened; you just remembered feeling scared and frantic trying to get out of the bathroom as it filled with smoke.
"I know," Kate said, letting a hand comfortingly stroke you cheek again, "I know it's a lot to take in, but I've got you now." she spoke in a soft, reassuring tone.
As she caressed your face, it felt a little rough on your cheek compared to how soft the skin of her hand normally felt. That's when you noticed you were feeling the white bandages that both of her hands were tightly wrapped in.
You frowned, "What happened to your hands?"
She glanced down at her hands, and then back to you, "I burned them when I was trying to get you out, but it's nothing I can't handle. I'd do it all over again for you."
Your gaze softened as you stared at her until your mouth dropped into a big yawn, making Kate gently smile, "If you're tired, princess, you can go back to sleep. You need to rest while you recover." she said.
"If I do will you cuddle me?" you asked.
She got up from the chair and laid next to you in the small bed. There wasn't a lot of room, but you made it work. It just gave her another reason to hold you closer, "I'll be here the whole time. I won't leave you again, I promise."
You moved into her open arms, resting your head on Kates chest to which she pressed kiss to as you did.
You sat in comfortable silence.
Kate was focused on comforting you by running a hand up and down your back, while you were stuck in your thoughts.
Although you were exhausted, you couldn't help but think back to being trapped in that room with no way out as it filled with smoke, screaming for help just for no one to hear you.
The memory of it was too overwhelming and your eyes started to glaze over, "I was so scared." you whimpered out.
It was so quiet that Kate barely heard you, "I just had to use the bathroom, and then the fire started but I didn't know since the smoke detector didn't go off, and I couldn't get out because there was something blocking the door and then I couldn't breath—"
"Shhh," Kate cut you off, noticing that you were starting to work yourself up and choke on your words. "It's okay, Y/N. You're safe now I promise you. You're not there, anymore. You're here in this moment with me, safe and sound in my arms." she spoke gently, pressing another lingering kiss to your forehead.
"You don't have to tell me about it now. I know you're tired, so get some sleep, baby. I'll still be here when you wake up." she gently assured you.
"You promise?" you asked meekly.
"I promise," Kate responded. "I love you, Y/N." she said.
When Kate got no response back, she looked down at you just to find that you were already fast asleep. Her lips curled into a sympathetic smile, relieved that you were back in her arms, and making a silent promise to you and herself that she'll never let anything happen to you again...also making a mental note to fix the sprinklers and smoke detectors.
Between Duty and Love
Tumblr media
pairing: Kate Bishop x fem! reader
warnings: angst, arguing(?) reader gets mad, fluff at the end (I think that’s it? let me know if I missed something! This is my first time posting here</3)
word count: 921
summary: Kate has been spending all her time at work and has been accidentally ignoring y/n.
——————————————————————————-
Kate Bishop sat at her desk, surrounded by the remnants of her latest mission. Papers scattered, her laptop screen glowed with reports, and her phone buzzed incessantly with notifications. Kate took a moment to rub her tired eyes before diving back into the pile of paper work on her desk. It was another late night of fighting off random criminals, and going back to the compound to finish up stacks of paperwork.
Meanwhile, in the shared apartment that she and her girlfriend shared, the air hung heavy with tension. The clock struck midnight, and the front door slowly creaked open, revealing her girlfriend on the other side of the door, Y/N, with a look of frustration etched on her face.
"Kate," Y/N said, her voice tight with anger.
"You promised you'd be home hours ago. What happened?" Kate looked up, guilt written across her features. "I know, I know. I'm sorry, babe. There was just this last-minute thing I had to take care of but this is important, Y/N.” Kate breathed in. “There's been a surge in criminal activity, and the team needs me—"
Y/N interrupted, her voice rising, frustration boiled over, the pent-up emotions finally bursting forth. "The team always needs you, Kate! But what about us? What about our plans? Every time we try to spend time together, you're off on some mission or buried in work."
Kate's heart sank as she realized the toll her actions were taking on their relationship. "I'm trying to keep the city safe, Y/N. You know that." Her eyebrows furrowed as she huffed out.
Tears welled up in your eyes as you stood still, the anger and hurt swirling inside you like a tempest. "I need someone who's here for me, not somebody who’s constantly gone. I can't keep living like this. I’m going to stay with a friend for awhile."
Kate's heart sank as she watched you turn away, the pain in your voice cutting through her like a knife. "Wait, Y/N, please. Let's talk about this."
But you were already halfway to the door, your footsteps echoing in the empty apartment. With a heavy heart, Kate sank back into her chair, the weight of your words bearing down on her like a crushing weight.
Days turned into weeks, the silence between you and Kate stretching on like an endless abyss. Each passing moment only served to deepen the rift between you, the pain of your separation a constant ache in both your hearts.
Alone in your friends apartment, you couldn't shake the memories of your time together. The laughter, the shared moments of intimacy, the feeling of being truly seen and understood. But alongside those memories lurked the pain of feeling abandoned.
Unable to bear the weight of your emotions any longer, you made a decision.
You made your way to the Avengers headquarters, where Kate had been spending most of her time lately. The familiar sight of the towering building filled you with a sense of apprehension, but you pushed forward anyways. As you approached a familiar office, you could hear the muffled sound of voices from within. With a hesitant knock, you pushed open the door, stepping into the dimly lit room.
Kate's eyes widened in surprise as she caught sight of you, her expression a mix of hope and trepidation as she quickly shot up from her seat and made her way towards you. “Y/N? What are you doing here?”
Taking a deep breath, you squared your shoulders, steeling yourself for the conversation ahead. "I came to talk, Kate. I’m sorry." For a moment, silence hung heavy in the air. You continued speaking. “I know this job means a lot to you, I know what I signed up for when we started dating..”
Then, with a resigned sigh, Kate gestured for you to take a seat next to her.
The words poured from your lips like a rushing river, the pent-up emotions finally finding release. You spoke of your hurt and your anger, of feeling neglected and unimportant in Kate's life. But beneath it all, there was a thread of love and longing, a desperate hope that things could still be salvaged between you.
Kate listened in silence, her expression pained as she took in your words. And when you were finally spent, she reached out, taking your hand in hers.
"I'm so sorry, Y/N," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "I never meant to ignore you. I've been so caught up with work that I didn’t realize I was hurting you.” Tears welled up in Kate's eyes as she spoke, the weight of her words hanging heavy in the air.
With a shaky breath, you reached out, cupping Kate's face in your hands. "I love you, Kate. But we can't keep living like this. We need to find a balance to make time for each other."
A flicker of hope lit up Kate's eyes as she leaned in, pressing her forehead against yours. "I promise, Y/N. From now on, I'll make sure to balance my job and to spend time with you.”
You smiled softly and pressed your lips against Kate’s, which she happily accepted.
-
As the days passed, Kate kept true to her promise. She made a conscious effort to prioritize your relationship, carving out time in her busy schedule for you. Whether it was a quiet dinner at home, a simple stroll in the park, or simply curling up together on the couch to watch a movie. Kate made sure that you felt loved and cherished.
Kate Bishop | Priorities
Summary: Reader comes face-to-face with his girlfriend, whom he hasn't heard from for days.
Kate Bishop x Reader
Warning: Angst, longing, little cries, some tantrums.
***
You were so worried that Kate hadn't returned any of your calls in the past week and her mom was arrested yesterday. You had your eyes and ears on the phone. You've been watching the news channels so much lately that you didn't care about the gangs that spread terror everywhere.
All you wanted was a message that your girlfriend was safe.
Even you yourself were tired of torturing yourself by remembering your last fight.
Your eyes are filled with tears. Your nose twitched again. You thought your tears had already run out. You're so tired and worn out, but you haven't heard from Kate.
You left the balcony floor where you collapsed with a tired sigh. Maybe even if it was Christmas, Kate wouldn't be near her. Your heart clenched and you stood for a moment on the doorframe. You've been beating yourself up for days and thinking of possibilities that should never have occurred to you, but it had never occurred to you. You didn't even give a chance. Because that's not what your Kate does. She was someone who always loved to give her love and attention. She was never a coward, she stood up and never gave up.
But ... what if she gave up?
What if she's gone?
"No, no," you said, trying to console yourself. Blinking your tired and sore eyes, you tried to get rid of the scary scenarios in your mind. "She will be back."
Kate didn't come back that day.
And in the last three days ahead of it.
When Christmas passed, you apologized to your family and made the excuse that you were too busy at work. You also added that you are planning something special with your girlfriend. They never made it a problem since they've known Kate since you were kids, and they invited you both on their next vacation.
'If she's here,' you stipulated. You didn't even know if she was alive or not.
The cops weren't very helpful to you. After people who returned five years after the blip, there were so many reports of missing persons that no one was even going to be given priority. Of course you were pissed that Kate wasn't on the priority line, but there was nothing you could do. She was all you could do, she.
In your shared flat, the house actually belongs to Kate, it had been a day or so since she had packed some of her belongings into the suitcases. You never gave up on Kate, but standing in a house full of her memories for twenty-four hours was torture. Also, the thought of her leaving you was growing stronger with each passing hour. You just hoped she wouldn't at least do it unawares. Even though she was never like that in all the long years you've known, you both became different people as you grew up. Maybe it was because of her college friends; Could she have hit her head? But you talked to all her friends. Maybe it was because your last fights were so violent? But each time you won each other's hearts.
God... Then why? Why hasn't your girlfriend been around for the last week and a half?
Didn't you do anything? Or have you done something wrong? Forgot to take out the trash? Did you hurt her? Did he think she had given up on him?
Or ... Did something happen to her?
Your heart is tight, you tightened the cabinet doors you were holding. The scattered image you could see in the mirror made you grimace. You looked awful. You're so devoted to finding Kate that you can't even remember if you ate a few hours ago. You didn't eat. Your weight dropped, your face sunk, and you always felt sad. Maybe you didn't realize that much until now, but Kate was the center of your life. She was by your side all your childhood. You grew up with it.
But she is no more.
You sighed.
You took your backpack from your bed, which had been tidy for days, and started pulling the suitcase that had been standing by the door. You didn't want to leave here, but the loneliness began to feel very difficult.
You closed doors that you left open. You're starting to check the windows for the last time. As you walked towards the hall, you heard low voices. Your heart pounded with fear and excitement. Could it have been Kate? Then who was the other person? You tried to maintain your composure.
Kate, who was arguing quietly with Clint, watched your arrival with longing. You stood at the entrance, looking at her expressionlessly. Kate wasn't used to you acting this way. However, she missed you so much that your actions did not go unnoticed. "Baby," she started to pace you.
But suddenly you took a step back, glaring at her sternly. At the same time, you didn't understand what you were doing. Kate hesitated at your movement. "Hold back." You said calmly.
"I know it's very confusing, but I'll explain everything to you-"
"I'm going,"
"You wouldn't believe what happened with Clint - What?" She didn't hesitate. "What do you mean I'm going?"
Your eyes touched the man she called Clint for a few seconds. "You stay with Clint. I mean, I'm going." You said keeping your calm. You weren't sure what to feel. "I'm sorry about your mother. Really. And if you have time, give my family some excuses, please."
"Y/N,"
"Thanks, Kate. Anyway. Nothing matters anymore, right? Besides, there's no excuse for me lying at the police station for a week and a half thinking something happened to you, right?" You mocked. "Oh, or it could be. I'm not worth it after all, huh?"
She gasped for thinking that way. Clint turned to Kate, realizing that the two of you were going to have a private conversation. "I'll be waiting downstairs." He left saying.
You looked behind the man with your mocking eyes. Besides being with the former Avengers member for weeks instead of being with you, she had even seen a message a lot. You couldn't forget that you slept in police stations at night. It's not that easy.
"Honey, I understand that you are angry." Kate began, but couldn't go on when you laughed nervously. Being angry? She really couldn't think that she was just angry. Disappointment burned all her cells. Weren't you justified in being angry?
"Anger? You think I'm angry?" You said with your voice getting louder. "Am I really angry? I've been running around for you for days, dead or alive, to find you. Just texting me was all it took."
"Everything happened so fast and dangerous. I didn't have time to tell anyone, I couldn't communicate with anyone."
"Then how did they arrest your mother?" ' you asked in a calmer tone. You weren't sure how to feel. Even being angry made you tired. Kate was tiring you out right now. Even if you're going crazy with longing, you can't ignore the part where you were wronged.
She didn't answer. Kate pushed you out of there as she started to put heroism at the center of her life. She didn't notice that. Right and wrong became the only thing that mattered to her as she faced the hero she had followed for years and fought back to back. Kate didn't really realize it, but she would understand that it was losing you. She had to set new priorities while you held her before her. Especially if he's going to keep doing this.
"I'm going, Katie," you said softly. You gripped your suitcase tightly and supported yourself from within. "Maybe it's your turn to think."
