Ronance is like the definition of chaotic smart.
I can so see nancy dragging them into high-risk situations that her instincts lead her too (and robin is fully aware it’s a bad idea and is simultaneously intrigued and terrified for nancy) and robin both complaining and still deliberating and building off of nancy’s ideas and throwing them back to her with a new, fresh set of details, making them even stronger.
They complete each other. Nancy has the base of the plan and the idea, and Robin seems to meet her halfway, challenging and providing another perspective without refuting her base concept. They’re both so smart but in different ways.

Someone help because I don’t have nearly the legal jargon knowledge to turn this into the fic it could be.
“Nancy,” Eddie gasps into the receiver as soon as she answers. “I need a huge favor. Like, huge.”
Nancy hums. “What’s up?”
“I need you to expose the Harrington Firm.”
“For?”
“Uh. Fraud? Extortion?”
“Ah.” She chuckles lightly and says the one thing he’s never heard her say before. “No can do, Eddie, sorry.”
“What?” His brain helpfully supplies, you kick Miette? He ignores his brain.
“I can’t expose what’s not there, Eddie. Listen, I’ve gotta go, Robin just came in with an urgent look on her face, but I’ll call you later, okay? We’ll do lunch sometime!”
And without another word, she hangs up, leaving Eddie’s brain buzzing along with the dial tone in his ear.
Can’t expose what’s not there, she said. Which means-
Oh, no.
She doesn’t know.
Eddie rolls his shoulders and nods decisively to himself. She won’t do it? Fine. He’ll do it himself.

stranger things 👻 paranormal investigators au 👻
but the crew is:
Robin Buckley - looks like a sweetheart, is actually a sweetheart
Tumblr media
A big fan of horror and paranormal, believes in ghosts and demons, gets very anxious and easily spooked during their investigations, but like the thrill of it. Starts out the investigation very respectful of whatever is haunting the place, but joins Eddie in taunting when they are about to leave the place. Robin is the one who finds information on the haunted places and why they are haunted and retells this info to guys (and the audience)
Eddie Munson - looks like a demon*, is actually a sweetheart
Tumblr media
Also a big fan of horror and supernatural, doesn't really have a stance on existence of ghosts and demons. Has been called a demon in high school, so he constantly reminds everyone about it during investigations, calls demons and ghosts pals and taunts them. Eddie and Robin have an ongoing debate whether or not ghosts/demons are homophobic for not showing up and not attacking them. Vibes with decrepit places
*according to some idiots he went to high school with
Steve Harrington - looks like a sweetheart, is actually a very powerful demon
Tumblr media
Doesn't care much for horror, because it doesn't spook him in the slightest, the "Why am I here, just to suffer?" vibe of the team, says with his full chest that ghosts/demons aren't real (ghosts/demons watching him like "are you for real?"), tags along for investigations to 1. hang out with Robin and Eddie, 2. protect his friends, 3. ghosts and demons are very frustrated/terrified by his presence and he gets a kick out of watching them just sit quietly while his friends disrespect these quite power entities. Always out loud threatens ghosts/demons - Eddie and Robin make fun of him "oh are you gonna get them with your bat, Steve?" and Steve is like "oh I'm gonna get them alright" (in a spooky voice)
(Occasionally some ghosts/demons don't take Steve seriously and try to attack the group. Those places are not haunted anymore ✌️😔 It's over for ghosts/demons before they even realize what's happening. Robin and Eddie never notice anything except for rare chills and that one time where Steve's eyes are glowing red for a second in the recording. When they are reviewing the footage Robin freaks out a bit - what if Steve is possessed??? Eddie just pulls Steve closer to them and squeezes his cheeks in his hand and says to Robin "Does he look possessed to you?" while Steve makes puppy eyes at her. It stays in the edit 🤧)

ogay but -
the idea of Robin proposing to Nancy is so cute because like - she'd be nervous as hell and ramble nonstop and stressed out and overthink about how, when, where she should propose
They’re in their late 20s now and they’ve been together for years. Right after they started reconnecting again a few years ago when Nancy moved back to Hawkins after finishing college.
("Relax, the moment will come," Steve says, reassuring when Robin can’t stop rambling about 101 things that could go wrong.)
He helps Robin plan a dinner, a fancy one. "It's gotta be special, it always works." Steve says again. His usual 'girls like this and that' speech that always gets Robin to roll her eyes. I mean if it always works why Steve is still single lol
The night comes. Robin picks Nancy up at her workplace (she finally learned how to drive). But Nancy looks exhausted. She keeps venting about work. Being a journalist is a stressful job. Something something about her boss not allowing her to pursue a story.
"You know what, you need a good rest tonight," Robin says, cancelling the plan, heart kinda sinks just like the ring in her pocket. Not the right time
She doesn't propose that night.
But Nancy gets busier and busier, the way she's so focused when she's pursuing something. It's actually one of her quality that Robin admires so much, so she doesn't want to disturb Nancy and just offers to help whenever she can.
Until days. Weeks. Almost three months later. Nancy finally got that story published even got  a promotion.
Robin picks her up as usual, and Nancy can't stop gushing about how well everything went. Also telling Robin about how her super annoying colleague who can't stop mansplaining things reacted to the news, "You should see Greg’s face," Nancy says, eyes twinkling.
“Greg’s a wreck,” Robin mutters playfully. They laugh together in the car on the way home.
Until they finally arrive, still joking and laughing around. “Ugh finally,” Nancy walks into the house, all relaxed. She takes off the coat and puts in on the sofa, then proceeds to casually talk about what kind of food they need to have for celebratory dinner and if Robin has any movie recs to watch tonight because she just want to enjoy the time.
And what if it just hits Robin that this whole things feels so… right?  Like having Nancy there in their place doing the most mundane thing together. The right moment.
Then suddenly Robin is already on her knee in front of Nancy, in the living room of all places - shoving her hand to her pocket and just - nervously trying to get the ring, hands shaking and all
“What are you doing?” Nancy is confused.
“Just - wait,” Robin is nearly trembling at this point. Until her hand finally reach the ring and she whips it out, firmly holding it on the tips of her fingers like her life depends on it. “I know that this is not ideal. But really, I’ve had this in my pocket since like forever and I don’t know how to do this thing, I mean I asked Steve and he said that I should wait for the right moment and he even suggested that I take you to a fancy restaurant and I did book some places but you were busy and you don’t even like Italian food but they’re the only fancy restaurant in this town, so -”
Robin stops a bit to take a deep breath.
“So I’ve been carrying this every single day just waiting for the right moment. And this is probably lame and like, so underwhelming because this isn’t a fancy restaurant or some other fancy place but still. It just feels so right,” Robin says. “We feel so right.”
And Nancy probably just stands there for a while in silence, just watching Robin with this fond expression. Until she finally laughs and Robin doesn’t know how to react to that.
“Is this a... no?”
“No!” Nancy says. “I mean yes! I mean it’s a no to your question but yes to everything else.” she adds when Robin’s face quickly drops. “It’s just that, I sorta remember you kneeling like this, but that was back then, and I’m sorry, it’s probably inappropriate to mention on moment like this considering what happened. It’s just, it’s you. It’s so you.”
And Nancy pulls Robin up to kiss her.

I don't even have a clear storyline in mind for this, but I just really, really want to see a modern AU with Eddie as a detective who investigates the Harrington Pharma company. The company is huge and looks clean on paper, but Eddie has a nose for these things, he knows something is wrong. He knows that Richard Harrington ran some sketchy trials and some of Wayne's friends have lifelong health issues, Chief Jim Hopper included.
The company looks almost impenetrable, but Eddie digs. No detail is too small for him. He crosses paths with the owner's son and a board member, Steve Harrington. Eddie despises him. A fucking rich kid, making millions out of other people's misery. His public appearances are well rehearsed, but Eddie knows his type. A shallow, pretty partying douchebag who hasn't had to work a single day in his life. His PR manager Robin Buckley seems way too decent to work with such a bunch of assholes, but Eddie's seen what money can do to people. Either way she's corrupted too.
He meets the younger Harrington several times. The handsome young man is not openly hostile, but he's condescending, bitchy and he looks at Eddie as if he were dirt. "Good luck with your efforts," he sneers when he sees Eddie digging through the public records of Harrington Pharma. "But maybe get a real hobby instead? I hear golf is nice." Eddie wants to murder him.
Eddie cooperates with an investigative journalist, Nancy Wheeler, who keeps all her cards close to her chest, but she still points him in the right direction several times. He collects evidence, partners up with the public prosecutor Joyce Byers. He even meets her son, Jonathan, who is able to get the most damning photographic evidence. No one fully trusts each other, but that's okay. Harrington Pharma is their shared enemy and that's enough.
One day, Eddie makes a mistake. He sneaks into the Harrington Pharma archives and miscalculates the guard shifts. He's stuck hiding under an old desk for hours, he's slowly losing hope, he has no way to contact anyone, his legs are cramping and he's exhausted, but then he hears a familiar voice talking with the guard.
"Hi, Tommy. All good? How's Carol and the kids? That's wonderful to hear. I just need to verify some records for dad, it's not a big deal. Have you had your smoke break yet? You can go, stretch your legs. I'll be here for at least half an hour."
Shit. It's Steve fucking Harrington. Eddie tries to stay still and will his muscles to cooperate, and he thinks he's doing a great job, but then-
"You can come out now. He's gone."
Eddie freezes. How the fuck does he know?
Harrington's voice is quiet, urgent. "Damn it, Munson! You have ten minutes tops before he comes back, so stop playing hide and seek with me!"
He manages to get back on his feet, uncertain and wobbly, and when he sees Harrington leaning over the desk, he's half ready for a fight. But the other man doesn't make a move, doesn't call out to anyone. He just hands Eddie a folder, some of them are the files he selected, but some are new. "I added a few that you missed," hisses Harrington and leans into the corridor. "I'll go first, get Tommy to focus somewhere else. You run to the right and pray to anyone willing to listen. And most importantly," he says, and shit, Steve Harrington can sound serious if he wants to!, "I never saw you here. You heard me come in, used the opportunity and bolted. Clear?"
Eddie just nods. He watches as Steve extends his arm, probably grabbing Tommy by the shoulders and leading him to the other end of the building, he sneaks as far as he can and then he madly dashes for the hole in the fence he made earlier.
The files are it. With all the evidence Nancy, Jonathan and Eddie collected, Joyce can finally take that dark empire down. Eddie is there every day, watches the trial, but then he hears that there are two witnesses for the prosecution from inside the company itself.
It's Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley.
He sees Steve give him a wink from the stand and he wants to kiss the man. Eddie hears all of it in the following days - how Steve used to date Nancy Wheeler, but then her best friend Barb Holland died due to a mishandled drug trial for her condition by Harrington Pharma. How Nancy broke up with Steve, but even with no chance of rekindling their relationship, he vowed to stop his father for good. How he worked in the company for years, climbed the ladder, managed to make enough connections to get his friend Robin Buckley the position of a PR manager. How she helped him to keep up the charade until the very end.
When the Harrington empire finally falls, Eddie watches quietly as Steve embraces Nancy, whispering to her that she did so well, that Barb would be proud. "We finally did it, Nance. We're finally free."
And then, before Eddie can disappear, Harrington is walking towards him, the mask finally off. He looks younger now, his smile is genuine and Eddie can't help it, his traitorous heart is telling him that this is the single part of the Harrington case he'll never leave behind.
"Hi," says Steve. "I...uh. I just wanted to say sorry for all the nasty things I said before. I had to for my cover, but...I just want you to know, I really appreciate what you did."
Eddie just stares at him, blush forming on his cheeks and a crush blooming in his heart. "I'm pretty sure I just butchered your career," he mutters. "And you're thanking me?"
Steve shrugs. "I mean. I'm out of job, I'm a known whistleblower now and my dad's lawyers will probably try to sue me. So that's not great. But if you want to ease your conscience...take me out for a coffee?" Another wink, another squeeze around Eddie's heart.
Eddie fakes a deep sigh and takes Steve by the elbow. "I don't think a single coffee is going to get rid of all my guilt, but it's a start. Maybe a lunch tomorrow would help my healing process?"
Laughing, Steve nudges his side. "Anything for your peace of mind, Eddie."

Steddie brainrot continues to worsen to a concerning degree but here's a crack idea that is absolutely sending me:
Famous Spicy Six in which Jonathon is a director who decides to work on a passion project: a Scooby-Doo movie. His ideal cast is as follows:
Nancy Wheeler (investigative journalist with a few special appearances on crime dramas) as Daphne Blake
Argyle (an actor with a habit of playing small parts; he acts only because he thinks it's fun, so he's not concerned with significant roles) as Shaggy Rogers
Robin Buckley (a well-known voice actor who is more well-known for her social media posts and clap-backs) as Velma Dinkley
Steve Harrington (basketball star who is also more well-known for his social media clap-backs and for being Corroded Coffin's number one fan) as Fred Jones
Eddie Munson (frontman for Corroded Coffin, an insanely popular metal/punk/rock band and "infamous" for unashamedly posting Steve Harrington thirst tweets) as the voice of Scooby-Doo
Corroded Coffin is also creating an entirely new, original soundtrack for the movie
And because I think it's funnier this way, this is also an AU where the Upside Down still happened, so Jonathon just calls his friends up and is like "Okay, so hear me out"
The absolute insanity that breaks out when both the movie and cast are announced because nobody can figure out how Jonathon managed to convince all these powerhouses to join his movie.
The further screaming online after one of the movie promo interviews where a reporter asks how they all agreed to the movie and Nancy hits them with, "Well, Jonathon asked, and he never asks for anything."
Which leads to the discovery that they all knew each other in high school, and the reporter jokingly asks if that means they've all dated each other, too, which leads to Eddie jumping in with absolute delight like, "Well, that's a funny story, there. See, Stevie here dated Nancy, who then dated Jonathon when they broke up, who then dated Argyle after they broke up. And I thought Stevie and Robin were dating, so I was very confused when I saw Robin and Nancy kissing. But then I found out that Robin was a true-blue lesbian, which meant Stevie here was open for the taking, and we've been banging ever since."
and Steve is just sitting there, head in his hands while Robin cackles and decides to tell the reporter all about Steve's "fuck I have a crush on Eddie" crisis
This interview, of course, leads to even more freaking out online and comments like "I know I asked for poly Scooby gang, but this is ridiculous," and "I can't believe that in this, the year of our lord 20xx, ScoobyXFreddy became a canon ship," and "if I had a nickel for every romantic relationship the Scooby gang actors have had with each other, I'd have five nickels, which is way more than any of us fucking expected to have," and "suddenly Eddie Munson's thirst tweets make a lot more sense, but can we talk about Steve Harrington's CC tweets now," and "everyone say thank you to Eddie Munson for revealing that mess of a relationship map," and "finally, the canon lesbian velma and daphne we deserve"
The movie is a box office hit, btw, and bloopers from filming roll with the credits, among which is Eddie Munson making Steve Harrington lose his shit laughing on set while dressed in a Scooby Doo onesie and singing Corroded Coffin songs with his Scooby Voice

robin and nancy have a short-lived fling before they go off to college. the thing is— it’s too fresh for both of them. robin wakes up screaming for steve and triggers nancy’s own panic. nancy can’t bear to lose someone else she loves so has moments of turning cold. they leave for college, and gradually they lose contact.
nancy goes to boston, to emerson, follows her dreams of journalism. she goes alone. she tries to lose herself in college parties, and it doesn’t work at first, but it gets easier and easier with time. she finds herself feeling happy again for the first time in years. she feels safe.
robin goes to california, to stanford. steve moves with her, and eddie with him, so the three of them get an apartment together. despite robin juggling a double-major and a part time job, she can finally breathe again.
a couple of years later, long since they’ve both graduated, robin and nancy bump into each other again. they’ve changed a lot: nancy’s hair is short, cut to her chin, no longer permed, and she has several tattoos on her arms. robin’s hair is longer, tied up in a loose bun, and she’s more tanned than nancy remembers. nancy isn’t a journalist, to robin’s surprise. no, nancy found her joy in creative writing instead, at mike’s recommendation. she’s working on a young adult series about a group of teenager— part time mystery solvers, part time monster hunters.
“like scooby doo,” robin jokes, and nancy hides a smile.
“like us,” she says, and then pauses. “are we— were we mystery inc?”
“oh, you were absolutely velma,” robin says. “if velma had guns, anyway.”
“velma should’ve been given a gun,” nancy agrees, and this time she grins.
nancy finds out that robin’s an english teacher, now. she still lives with steve and eddie, although they have a house together now, no longer a small apartment. they have a cat, and a garden, and they’re all happy there. happier than they ever thought they could be.
it’s been years since they left hawkins, since they stopped talking, but they fall easily back into conversation. like they never left. they exchange numbers and promise to keep in touch. this time, they stick to it. this time, they fall for each other, slowly but surely. they’re not the traumatised teenagers they used to be. they’ve lived, and they’ve grown, and they’ve found themselves.
nancy wheeler kisses robin buckley for the first time in years in the rain, outside her own apartment, when they’re both soaked to the bone and shivering. then she kisses her again in her hallway, and again on the stairs, and again in her bedroom. she remembers the parts she’s missed, and learns the parts that are new. they do this again, and again, and again.
when robin wakes up screaming, nancy holds her, murmuring soft assurances. when nancy freezes up, robin takes her hand and squeezes it, grounding her.
for a second time, nancy wheeler and robin buckley fall in love.
this time, it works out for them.

Steve is Robins beard/no upside down AU where Robin and Steve run away and get married after Robin graduates because she gets outed in the last few weeks of highschool and its the only way to stop her parents from sending her to a christan all girls college.
Originally the cover up plan is for Robin and Steve to tell her parents that they just recently started dating and a girl in band started the rumor about Robin being a lesbian because she was jealous and hoped it would make Steve and Robin break up. They can fake date and then "break up" after Robin goes off to college in Chicago, claiming the distance was too much.
Robins mom is fully ready to accept this as fact, after all it will do so much for their status in town if her daughter marries into the Harrington family
Robins dad, on the other hand, hates the idea of his only daughter being with the son of Richard Harrington. He watched the bastard play with his sisters heart in highschool before running off to marry some rich girl and will be damned if he sees the same happen to his daughter. No it will be better if he put an end to all of this and ships her off to Mount Saint Marys so she never has to see the Harrington boy again.
Cue Robin and Steve aided by Joyce and Hopper making a plan for them to run away because Steve will be damned if all of Robins dreams are crushed because her father wants to be an over protective asshole. They decide the easiest way to stop her dad from tracking them down and forcing Robin to come home is if they get married.
So the night after graduation, Robin sneaks out of her house and steals away into the night with Steve. They drive all night until they make it to chicago as the sun is rising. Joyce has a cousin who lives in the city and is willing to let Robin and Steve stay in her spare room until they get settled.
Carina has the same motherly warmth as Joyce, though she never married or had kids instead choosing to live with her " Capital R Roomate" Marjorie. Of course, the two women know the truth of Robin and Steves situation and as soon as the court house opens, they bear witness as Steve and Robin sign the marriage papers and offically become Steve and Robin Buckley-Harrington
They actually fought quite a bit on last names Steve insisting that he should take the last name Buckley because fuck his parents, while Robin still angry at her father wanted to become a Harrington just to spite him. Carina is the one who convinces them to hyphenate after, to her horror and amusement they suggest combining their lastnames and becoming the Buckington's (Steves idea) or the Harringley's (Robins idea)
Steve and Robin find jobs together at a local coffee shop and after Robins first semester at school working towards a degree in linguistics, Steve decides to apply for community college eventually deciding he wants to become a school councilor, he loves working with kids and hey if he can help atleast one kid all the schooling will be worth it.
Steve and Robin love the city and once they both graduate -Robin ending up adding a teaching degree in with her linguitics- they get jobs teaching at a local middle school Steve as the guidance counciler and Robin teaching French and Latin. They talk briefly about getting divorced after a few years but after almost dying in a fire together when starcourt burned down they're trauma bonded for life, honestly steve doesnt know who he was kidding thinking he'd be fine staying in Hawkins until the kids graduated while Robin went off to Chicago.
Carina and Marjorie introduce Robin and Steve to the queer scene in Chicago and Steve has his bisexual awakening. Robin becomes Steves beard just as much as he is hers. They both date around a bit, but nothing serious ever comes of it theres not many people who can handle the combined force that is "Steve And Robin Platonic With A Capital P Soulmates"
Enter professional substitute teacher/drama club advisor Eddie Munson and brand new lead journalist of the Chicago Tribune Nancy Wheeler, who are both confused, gay and unwilling to be homewreckers but cant help but to be sucked into Robin and Steves orbit all the same
