Some more samples of concept art for the Feral Predator shared by Alec Gillis, Farzad Varahramyan (the full body concept) and Justice Joseph (Spear Gun)
The Feral Predator’s bone mask was a notion that PREY director dannytrs thought would make for a nice variation on the traditional Predator bio mask. tom_woodruffjr and I had the pleasure of art directing an amazing team of concept artists including michael_vincent_art ,  farzad_varahramyan ,jfields217, the_justice_joseph
Swipe for earlier iterations, including an internally illuminated bone mask. Swipe further to meet the Crucifix Fish. I’ve been trying to find a place for this beauty in a design for years! It had its day here.
The Bone mask started as a cool 3D sculpt by  michael_vincent_art , then molded by  h2originals , a clay copy created, then detailed by sculptors Joey Orosco,  andy_bergholtz and savannahsuderman
We’ve worked with Michael on a few projects and I always have a blast with him. I’ve always loved biologically plausible creatures so any concept artist who enjoys talking about viper sensor pits and secondary faces hidden in plain sight on tigers is okay by me.
Don’t get me started on communicating through pheromones or the difference between squid tentacles and arms. Chemotactility? Not a topic for polite conversation. Thanks to dannytrs for letting us run feral on this one.

“Lessons About Police Brutality from the Chicanx Experience” by Joseph Orosco
Summary of Key Points
This essay provides a very brief summary of some notable incidents of police brutality and corruption from the Chicanx perspective. These include:
The Texas Rangers, who were specifically formed to patrol the Texas-Mexico border, were brutal. They abducted and murdered hundreds of Mexican-Americans from 1915-1919 during a period known as La Hora de Sangre.
In 1942, in an incident known as the Sleep Lagoon Murder, over a dozen  Mexican-American youth were arrested in connection with the death of a Chicano man. They were denied lawyers, were forced to appear in court in dirty clothes, and they were stereotyped as “violent” and “savage” by experts for the prosecution. They were taken away from their families and sent to reform school despite shaky evidence.
In 1951, in an incident known as Bloody Christmas, the LAPD arrested a group of young Mexican-American men. During a Christmas party, LAPD officers forced beat the men with clubs, resulting in severe injuries. Though initially covered up, families of the men joined up with Community Services Organization (CSO), a grassroots civil rights organization, to pressure the city. A review led to several convictions and many reassignments.
The Chicano Moratorium March was a nonviolent demonstration against the Vietnam War, in August 1970. 30,000 people showed up. When a nearby business was broken into, LAPD declared the entire assembly unlawful, attacked protestors with tear gas and other less-lethal weapons, injuring many and killing some, including a journalist.
These incidents reveal that police brutality and racism is not restricted to anti-Black racism.

my name is at the top of the 'loves the shit outta that' list. i'm all about hard choices, plot twists, making characters suffer - good ol' and well done angst with a purpose. character development is also one of my favourite aspects of roleplaying, so slam me with all the details - really let me know what your character is feeling, thinking, doing, and show me how they're changing from what's happening to them, yadda yadda.  also! if you have a character craving, i'm 100% fine with you playing a character from a game/book/movie/whatever in the universe we go with. wanna slam your favourite character from a different video game into another game/plot/whatever's universe? i'm down with that. character and/or plot transplants are good with me. ocs get a thumbs-up, too. __ what i'm looking for is Tales from the Borderlands. i'm open to almost any pairing, chill with ocs, all that jazz. we can go post-game, during game, au, anything. my one stopping point is i am not comfortable shipping Handsome Jack and Rhys together; if you wanna cook up a platonic plot with them, sure, but i'm personally not willing nor comfortable in pairing them romantically. --> i have two small plot ideas, or we can come up with something together. --> i'd like to try my hand at writing Rhys  --> i'm fine with whoever you want to play - an oc, Vaughn, Fiona, Sasha, Handsome Jack, August, an original character, etc.  --> my preferences are Vaughn/Rhys, Sasha/Rhys, and Fiona/Rhys __ otherwise, if that doesn't strike your fancy, here's some others i might be willing to roleplay. i'll list who i'd like to play as in it. - + Fallout 4: small plot idea. would prefer to play as my Sole Survivor. however, i've played all Fallout games released, so i'm also game for New Vegas, 3, 2, 1, or a mix. + TellTale's The Walking Dead: Ben Paul. have played seasons 1 and 2. + NieR: Grimoire Weiss, Kainé + NieR Automata + Silent Hill series: Angela Orosco + We Happy Few: Arthur Hastings + Kentucky Route Zero + Dishonored 1 and 2: Kirin Jindosh, Daud, Billie Lurk + The Evil Within: Joseph Oda, Tatiana Gutierrez, Juli Kidman + Resident Evil 7 + The Last of Us + The Adventure Zone: Taako + Dragon Age: Origins, 2, and Inquisition + Mass Effect 1, 2, 3 + Until Dawn: Josh Washington + Left 4 Dead + Portal: Wheatley + and a shit ton more i can't remember enough to list. if you send me a suggestion, i'll likely know it [and if i don't, again, i'm down with character/plot transplants] i'm not strictly limited to fandoms. others include - + [post] apocalypse [have a plot and a couple small ideas] + horror/survival + some ghost hunting show gone horribly wrong + androids and all their sad little existential issues [small plot idea] + desolation, being lost, an abruptly empty/decaying world - something weird and otherwordly in our world and the discomfort of it no one dares to put in words + hit me up with topics - i'm flexible! __ finally, if you're interested you can drop me a message at  ----> [email protected] feel free to include things about yourself, limits, ideas, and if you have any cutie pets

Asks for Key part 1!
@alextogroundcontrol
Silent Hill Asks
Harry Mason: What is something you’ve lost that you wish you could have back? When I was like 5, there was this toy you could get in Kellogs cereal of Thing 1 & 2 but they came separately and 1 was rare af to find. I finally got a thing 1 after receiving like 20 thing 2′s but I accidentally flushed it down my toilet and cried.
Cybil Bennett: Are you the type to challenge authority? If it goes against my personal beliefs, then yes I will.
Cheryl Mason: Ever been lost? What happened? I thought we lost my mom’s vehicle one time when we were in another state when I was like 8.
Alessa Gillespie: Ever been bullied? What for? For my weight and just being me.
Lisa Garland: Describe a nightmare you’ve had. I dreamed when I was younger that Chester the Cheetah chased me around with a Cheetos glove but it was like Freddy’s claw glove it was weird af. (Side note I had a shit ton of fucked up dreams like that as a child and could easily create a blog about it).
James Sunderland: One thing you regret? Easily two things bc I’m a rebel lmao, junior year of high school and personally how I’ve acted the past like 7 months.
Mary Sunderland: Are you more forgiving or do you tend to hold grudges? I usually forgive and forget, unless it’s something that fucked with me then I try to get even and end up accidentally fucking myself over lmao.
Laura: What’s one thing you miss from your childhood? I miss the quality of games story lines tbh.
Pyramid Head: What’s the worst thing you’ve gotten punished for? Watching porn when I was 8 lmao.
Maria: What is your best attribute? Well when I act like myself, I’m usually very talkative to anyone and I’ll always compliment you, I’m pretty poetic, and can understand feelings/emotions pretty well.
Angela Orosco: Ever been badly hurt by someone? Who? Plenty of people has hurt me in the past, just like everyone else.
Nurse: Worst injury you’ve ever received? I’m pretty good at accidentally hurting myself, but my worst one would be when I cracked my skull.
Eddie Dombrowski: Any guilty pleasures? I have a lot and probably can’t list them all bc to quote Key, “you’re(me) fat”.
Heather Mason: How do you handle change? I fear change and like panic hardcore if it happens too fast.
Claudia Wolf: Are you easily swayed by people’s opinions, or do you have a strong sense of your beliefs? I believe what I believe unless an argument is logical enough to maybe make me think (but I’ll most likely believe what I believe because I’m stubborn).
Vincent Smith: Ever taken advantage of someone/has someone taken advantage of you? I’ve been taken advantage of before, but I try not to use people.
Douglas Cartland: Are you afraid of dying? Why or why not? Yes and no. Like I don’t want to die bc I want to be alive as long as possible to spend it with Key, but death has to happen so I don’t fear it happening to me.
Robbie the Rabbit: Your most prized possession? Key’s love. As true as that is, I don’t really prize a certain object over another one so I don’t really have one.
Henry Townshend: Do you like going out or staying at home? Why? Staying at home because I am nervous af in new sceneries/ anywhere that’s not home.
Eileen Galvin: What do you look for in a person? I look to see if they’re sweet, can take a joke, and aren’t boring really.
Walter Sullivan: Nicest thing someone has done for you /given you? When Key gave me a yes when I asked to be key’s boyfriend or anything that Key has given me.
Jasper Gein: Favorite drink? Apple juice or Arizona green tea.
Richard Braintree: Ever done something to hurt someone? What was it? Plenty of times, tbh I could probably write a list of reasons lmao.
Frank Sunderland: What is one item/memory you can’t let go of? Why? I can’t let go of my stuffed animals because I feel like I’m getting rid of like actual memories and actual animals when I do.
Andrew DeSalvo: Place that brings you bad memories/gives you a foreboding feeling? School, church, anywhere that I’ve been forced to go really.
Cynthia Velasquez: Believe in ghosts? Why or why not? Yes, I feel like they’re real idk why.
Joseph Schreiber: Ever kept a journal/diary? I currently have one to keep up with every song I write/stories/ect.

Finally, it also means that ordinary white folks need to seriously contend with lingering white supremacy in their families and communities, and everyone, include Chicanx/Latinx people, need to acknowledge and grapple with anti-Black racism that is a cornerstone of the white supremacy that harms us all [...] I hope that this history does not make it seem like dealing with this problem is an overwhelming and impossible task. Rather, I hope that we can see that there are many places to get involved, many different sites of struggle, for our energies.

The casual nature of the police violence in this case, and the easy manner in which police were able to deploy weapons in a deadly way, demonstrated to many Chicanxs that mainstream America would not tolerate even nonviolent dissent from people of color.

Here’s what you’ll be studying this week:
“As historian Khalil Gibran Muhammad explains, the system of policing in the US emerged to control Black people through brutal force, both in the South and the North. This week, you’ll listen to a podcast featuring Muhammad, who explains that one origin of the contemporary police were “slave patrols,” in which all white men were required to participate; these patrols enforced the “slave codes,” the laws governing enslaved people, and were meant to prevent rebellion, through surveillance and brutal punishment. Following emancipation, the “Black Codes”, the growth of a prison-plantation system, and the rise of white vigilante groups all enshrined the criminalization of Blackness as the method to extend racial hierarchy. As Jim Crow was solidified and Black people fled the violence of the South in the early to mid 20th century, police were key to securing segregation and racial oppression across the US. Muhammad describes the early US police force as “a critical feature of establishing a racial hierarchy–even among white people,” as immigrants and ethnic white populations became subjects for racist, classist policing.
Together with a chapter from Are Prisons Obsolete?, this week introduces both policing and the US prison system as a continuation of anti-Black racism in chattel slavery. Angela Davis considers the modern prison, designed as a humanitarian reform that would supplant more brutal punishment, as another in a series of racist institutions that appeared permanent: slavery, lynching, and segregation. For the next five weeks, we will follow Davis’ charge to imagine the impermanence of the prison and the entire criminal punishment system as a racist regime.
As Davis argues, the fact that US prisons and policing developed in the context of anti-Blackness, the slave codes, and the convict lease system does not mean that state punishment has refrained from attacks on other populations; indeed, she argues, anti-Asian, Latinx and Native racisms “congeal and combine in the prison.” This week, Orosco’s new essay details police racialization of Chicanxs, while the link to the website “States of Incarceration” focuses on the example of Minnesota’s history to show the ways that settler colonialism relied on incarceration as a colonizing tactic. Finally, Dylan Rodríguez names the importance of culture, even more than “facts,” to demonstrate the necessity of joint struggle for humanization in the face of violent systems of racialized social control.”
