It’s later in the night – when they’ve brought out the cake and sang ‘Happy Birthday’, and Zephyr has blown out all six candles (one of them larger-sized) – that Madge wanders out of the kitchen where mama and baba are divvying up the cake to track down Zephyr and Kas, who’ve somehow vanished in that short amount of time. The backyard feels quieter than before: peaceful, now, as if all the world is fast asleep. Madge inhales, again, the same way she did earlier with the cake, breathing in the scent of spring – stretching her arms out to the side, her fingertips straining, her head tipping back to look up at the sky. The longer she looks, the more stars seem to appear, spreading out and multiplying, thousands of tiny glittering diamonds spilling across the black. The breath she takes in morphs into a yawn. Murmuring, from up on the roof. She spins towards the ladder leaning against the side of the house, and ah – they must be up there, then.

chapter 1 + chapter 2... halfway to 60k

#a little over halfway really #I'd begun to worry about my progress but when I put it this way I feel pretty proud of myself #the crazy part... is that I'm still not even close to done.... ahahaha #okay. chapter one is pretty much done #I've edited all the major portions I wanted to change #just a small editing session and she'll be ready to post #as for the second chapter #I'm about a third of the way through with editing the smut #after the halfway point the word count will start exploding because there's a ridiculous amount of editing I have to do #what I have written so far for the second part is more of an outline than anything else #and then of course there's the whole ending portion #I think over 60k in total word count is 100% happening #70k next? haha... ahaha..... ha..........#laughing through the pain #(I wake up from a deep coma after producing 70 thousand words of aki sex) where....... where... am I.......#let's reach the editing halfway point by the end of this week!! I can do it!!!!

it’s so fucked that they put love toboggan right before island of lost dakotas. like. it puts it on the brain in a rewatch, and not only is there a cav death scene in love toboggan, it was actively caused by murphy’s law. in another timeline milo was technically responsible for cav getting killed. dakota saw that. how many times has that happened, too. someone send dakota to therapy right away man imagine if you kept seeing your incredibly unlucky pseudo nephew accidentally kill your weird time travel work situationship for whom you would lay down your life. that would do something to a man I think

After all, it’s quite rare to come across another fellow dual-wielder. “Our battle may be legendary, so don’t go easy on me now” The prefect takes a stance, preparing herself for what’s to come.

Please don’t report me: Let’s just say that there were one…two?- Definitely a certain amount of occurrences where Mayuu almost struck Nox. She claims it was out of self-defense since she was caught off guard by his presence. Nothing says hello like an elbow to the face. “I’m so sorry- I SWEAR I didn’t mean to do that?!?!”

You’re a cruel one, Nox: Mayuu finds the degree of his dislike for fae to be odd. But she supposes she can’t judge him; she doesn’t know him too well, even with knowledge of him in past timelines. But still, it’s somewhat heartbreaking for her to see how he is with faeries, especially considering that the ones she knew were nothing but helpful. “Don’t you suppose that…you’re being too much?” Mayuu wears a look of disapproval.

[ TALE OF AGGRAVATING ANOMALIES, CONT.]

What the hell’s up with him?: He’s weird as hell, and that’s not really saying much… Everyone is strange and hella weird to Mayuu. But what separates him is his creepiness and overall vibe. She can handle nervous weirdos like Idia, but Saga? Yeah… No thanks. “If I had to choose between cleaning up the entire campus or hanging out with Saga for an hour, I’d be heading straight for the janitor’s closet right when you mention his name.”

Take a chill pill, I meant no ill will: At first, Mayuu didn’t really bat another eye at this fellow. NRC students are weird, she knows that well. But Saga’s accusations of her being suspicious of him? Especially with that “glare” of hers? The prefect felt… disheartened. Ah Mayuu, your natural RBF never fails to bite you in the ass… “What glare?! THAT’S JUST HOW I LOOK!?!?” Mayuu said calmly.

I’m crazy?? YOU’RE CRAZY!!: To no surprise, this poor prefect is fed up with Saga. No matter how many chances of redemption she gives him, it just seems hopeless. His remarks about her only add more salt to the wound. “Lord have mercy- this f- MAN is going to make me lose my hair before I turn 20!! I don't judge him for his 'hobby', so he better not judge me for strangling Kyuu.”

Understandable, please shut up: Despite being the listening type, Mayuu can’t help but get overwhelmed when this guy opens his mouth. His nonsense is just a neverending stream of negative blabbering… Believe me, she has tried to respond back, but that just seems to encourage him to ramble even more. “My brain can only handle so much… he’s like a toddler when he babbles. Christ, my head’s spinning again just by thinking about it.” Mayuu looked like she was about to lose it then and there. Yeesh, guess he was too much for her to handle.

7. your favorite tropes to read/write/draw

I have many but I'll pick two for now in case someone else asks this question too :)

Feelings Realization: I love writing that Oh. Oh. moment in fic. Whether a character realizes their own feelings or the other characters feelings it just gets me every damn time. It's such a a fun trope to write, especially if it's shortly followed by some feral/unhinged activity (sex or murder or both, dealer's choice ahahaha)

X character needs a hug: HUGS HEAL EVERYTHING and there's so much emotional weight you can write into a hug. I will never get tired of writing emotional hugs in fic.

24. how has fandom positively impacted your life?

Oh, there are too many to count! Fandom, overall fandom, not just shipping or online fandom, has always been a huge driver in my connections with others. I have life long friends whose weddings I've attended that I met writing fanfic together. I've hosted complete strangers in my living room just because a friend of a friend needed a place to stay for a con and now they're my friends too. I've bonded over pokemon go and playing magic the gathering at the local comic book shop. I have friends I've met standing in line waiting to meet a favorite author/celeb. Animal Crossing reconnected me with SO MANY people I'd lost touch with, and then covid lockdowns had me suddenly talking to these people every day. I've met a handful of my Sandman mutuals in person too and they're all amazing people.

Fandom has made me more creative, more open-minded, and more interesting of a person, if I'm being honest. There's plenty of not so great things in fandom for sure, but for me, the good will always outweigh the bad, for all of the reasons above, and more.
