Notes on my Ben design and my related HCs

It spans across his entire torso to symbolize the fact that he was drowned and therefore could not get any air 👍 Yeah thats it its pretty surface level.

Other notes:

I like to hc that human ben is actually brunette. So instead of Links original pristine blonde look -- BEN has dirty blonde hair that looks brown when wet.

He looks so different from how I usually draw creepypasta characters because I like to lean into the "haunted video game character" part of him. He is literally a video game character, him and link are practically one in the same to him. He is BEN. And he will continue to haunt his copy of Majora till the cartridge is either a. Burned, or b. Somehow transferred to another medium for him to take over((Yes I DONT know how cartridges work but I ASSUME theres a possibility of being able to transfer files onto another empty cartridge)).

He gets more visually horrifying when he wants to. He prefers the default look just because its more "him". But he can switch between looking like an exact replica of Link to being a more horrific version of his body whenever he sees fit.

He is a vengeful spirit! His only purpose is to haunt whoever holds his cartridge and drive them to insanity !! I feel like whenever hes just being held and not haunting someone -- he blanks a bit on what to do because the only real purpose he has is to haunt. So to make up for that void he does things that Human Ben would do. He gets really snappy though and would definitely bully someone if he felt like he was losing control/feeling an identity crisis coming up because he feels a major sense of control whenever hes put in charge of a persons despair.

Control freak. Need I say more.

Personally I dont think BEN has a sense of age. To him -- he used to be a human boy, but that doesnt really affect him as much. Its more on how he cant seem to shake off the fact that he was once human, someone whos power could easily be taken away((Which definitely shakes his entire control freak persona so 👍)) He doesnt have ghost angst cause hes a grown man stuck in a teen ghosts body he has ghost angst cause hes a control freak 👍

I think thats all??? I love my goofy goober sm. Id probably last like a month or two because of him but Id accept it I guess. Love me a guy like that 😩

Wax Artist and the Fandom

Alright so I have a LOT to unpack right now with Wax Artist as well as the fandom and how they go about treating wax artist mains and the character as a whole. I would like to say before I start that I am black. However I main Wax Artist. I ended up spending like $300 to get his S tier skin, and then everyone found about about the whole Physiognomy bullshit. As someone who doesn't typically have that kind of money anymore, Its tragic HAHAHA like genuinely it sucks. Had I known perhaps I wouldn't have tried to get it. But I digress.

So what's the whole issue here other than Philippe being a racist? Well. I want to bring up a few points in this post about why I think half the shit the fandom says about him is stupid AND why I think attacking his players (who have no control over his story) is ridiculous and childish.

No one is taking an effort to reach out to devs about the psysiognomy. Like how are you gonna tell myself and other wax artist mains to kill ourselves or call us racist for playing a character that we LITERALLY cannot control. I've had like 3 people (including an old friend who said it as a "joke") call me a disgrace to black people for maining him. Yknow how bad that hurts? As someone who's of mixed race and doesn't feel like they fit in anywhere, that shit absolutely sucks.

People are asking for NE to remove Wax Artist from the game as a whole. Now this one, I can understand to an extent. However, many people do not want this. His backstory (MINUS PHYSIOGNOMY) is interesting, certain headcanons make his character so much more fun; like him just being a silly man who makes wax sculptures, etc. His character design is interesting and very pleasing, It really shows his mental and physical decline as well. All characters have some importance in the story, Wax Artists importance is unknown but I bet he plays a bigger part and will somewhere down the line.

Most white characters are likely racist depending on the time period. It's obvious that not everyone who's white in the game is racist, like historically not everyone was. However given the time period of some of these characters, there's a good chance they could potentially be racist. Now of course this doesn't excuse the fact that Wax Artist is problematic, but I feel like in a realistic sense people tend not to think about where these characters are from AND when they were/are alive. Do I want ANY of the characters to be racist? Absolutely not, but I do strongly believe that given the time periods, it wouldn't surprise me if more white characters had some sort of racist ideology that just wasn't brought up yet.

A lot of people aren't even aware of the racist undertone in Wax Artist's story. I have been playing Wax artist for over a year now and the amount of people I've met who don't even know Wax Artist's story is problematic is insane. Like I'll say he's racist and people are like "wait deadass??" It's nuts. I get these sort of encounters nearly everytime I talk to a player. It's important people know about this issue so we can push for change. I haven't seen a single person try to change his backstory and that fucking sucks. I've seen what we can do when we all come together, and this change could be made so quickly if we work together.

Perhaps there are other things that could've been said but these are the main ones that I think about. I GENUINELY believe we could make the change to Wax Artist's story if the fanbase just listens. I've tried countless time to spread the word on Twitter, but that proved to be a fruitless task. I'm hoping that here I could spread the word a bit more in asking that you email NE and ask them to remove physiognomy from his story as a whole, because believe me I 100% believe his story doesn't need this element at all. He could just be a criminologist who makes wax figures. Easy. So please PLEASE help me out here, I've been practically begging for months now and it's getting exhausting.

okay if @roxasboxas wants my ven thoughts you can All have my ven thoughts

most of it is summarized in the Anguis Ven Agenda, which is a character analysis of pre-ux ven basically, and That One Post Everyone Has Feelings Over sums up the general gist on how I see the ux vanitas twist, though the language is deliberatly theatrical to invoke emotion

To summarize: I think interpretations that use ux to cast vanitas as Entirely Separate from Ven are horseshit

So like, ux, yeah. It reveals that there's some Capital D Darkness in Ven, which formed Vanitas when xehanort pulled it out again in bbs. i don't disagree with this.

However, what is very important to me. Is that Darkness stole Ven's own to make itself sentient. It's still Ven's darkness, too.

As I say in my Anguis Ven Agenda, and dramatically imply in the other post, the Darkness still acted on what it thought was Ven's will. That's why I call it "intrusive thoughts." I believe some part of Ven was jealous, did want to kill Strelitzia, even if he never intended to act on it. The thought was still there.

And for bbs, too. If you go for "vanitas is only Darkness" you end up retconning and invalidating his entire character in bbs. He is ven's darkness, came from the same source, which makes it all the more tragic that the two grew apart. Bbs Ven has changed as a person, and so the two puzzle pieces don't fit anymore. The edges got sanded off and they won't click.

Vanitas is in essence trying to return to ux Ven, who no longer exists. Who will never exist again.

That's all that from a mainly lore standpoint. I think considering Vanitas to characterize Ven is also important.

In bbs, Vanitas is trying to be a person who no longer exists, but Ven is rejecting part of himself because he finds it unsightly.

Ven rejecting Vanitas means Ven rejects not just his own darkness. He rejects his anger, his loneliness, his jealousy. He is denying all the feelings Vanitas is made of, and it's destroying him. Literally.

Ven hates that these feelings could possibly have been his so much that he is willing to shatter his own heart and openly contemplate suicide. yknow.

of course there's also aspect of ven not wanting to be a weapon, and accepting vanitas wouldn't have worked anyway because of sora sanding the edges off, but that's tragedy, isn't it? There was no ideal path for those two.

I think that self-rejection, that already appears in ux, a bit. Again, darkness is the thoughts Ven doesn't want to admit he has. Or he had, before gaining friends. He's behind all that now, ysee? He got friends. He's no longer alone. So he doesn't need these unsightly feelings anymore and they should just leave.

I think after bbs and kh3 and whatnot Ven doesn't have xehanort's pressure on him anymore and can be a kid for a bit and as above he just. doesn't feel what vanitas is anymore. and without the pressure he likely won't again. but i'd say he still needs to do some introspection. he's All Light now, but that doesn't mean negativity is gone.

if hearts can grow back whole does darkness grow back too? did ven get darkness from sora, because that's what his heart lacked?

tldr ven needs therapy

as for the future of vanitas, his tie to sora is fascinating. as i mentioned his tragedy is that the person he's trying to be will never exist again, but he can still help, i think. first of all he'd need to accept himself as a whole person by himself, but i think he can help sora.

i put vanitas on my kh4 bingo card for good reason. i believe he'll be back for several reasons that other people have probably outlined better than me, but sora falls into the same trap ventus does where he denies his own darkness and it is killing him. has killed him.

it started with "kingdom hearts... is light!" and then it never stopped which is how we get anti and rage form. he only ever grieves for others and never for himself, so doing a ... darkness trade of sorts with ven would land him with vanitas. if vanitas comes to represent sora's darkness (i'm the shadow that you cast etc etc) and sora has to conceptualize that as a person he cares for then he would by extension learn darkness isn't all that bad and care for himself

i think that would be epic. vanitas was my kh fav before i even knew who sora was so i miss him. kh4 give him to me

YEAH he got capital D Darkness in him but he's wayyy more than that and i hate it when people reduce him that way. Yeah all his actions in bbs were a fool's errand and that's tragic but it would be so bad and pointless if vanitas wasn't what he believed himself to be at all. It's good if he can be more than Ven's darkness, maybe Darkness will even help him get a sense of identity, that there's a part of him that isn't just Ven, but if you make him less than that, I hate that. I'm looking at you ux clickbait theorists.

this is probably. messy. especially toward the end. since i wrote this on my phone and can't needly order everything in libre office. but this is basically most of my ven and vanitas takes.

Hello! i'm getting the brainworms so i apologize for the length of this ask and if it's not that coherent

So on the subject on MiA with adult protagonists i'm thinking about the potential with like Riko getting to have her first true adventure and taste of freedom after a shitty childhood (or lack of thereof), finally getting to experience new things even as a young adult is still such a cathartic experience and can cause childlike wonder. it's relatable and still tragic in a way so there's no loss at her not being a kid!!

She can still be knowledgeable and kind despite what happened to her and realistically a bit oblivious bc let's be real early 20s are a confusing mess for anyone. i think she might even hit it off still very well with a Prushka around her age bc there could be a contrast and wonder in Riko's early life without her parents, and Prushka who despite being in the Abyss still somehow had a parent (parents?? depending on how you picture the Umbra Hands when they're not in factory reset mode) and some semblance of a childhood. Their time together might be too short for that if sticking with canon but i'm a bit weak for Prushka introducing Riko to basic childhood experiences that she didn't really have bc of the orphanage and how much it sucked

Riko and Reg being young adults could still 100% cause them to be treated like inexperienced children by other delvers bc it is essentially what they are. and it would make more sense i think that ppl just let them go into the Abyss in this case instead of just accepting that a bunch of little kids are going down there unsupervised like in canon yknow. sure it's a fucked up world but what the hell

It's clear that MiA doesn't need the main cast to be children bc it's shown plenty that it can do shock value if it needs to. hell one of my favorite scenes is still the one with Gyarike in the field of Eternal Fortunes; the state the delvers are in the and powerlessness of Reg & co next to Gyarike who is much more experienced, pragmatic, and here to do what must be done works so incredibly well in my opinion. it hits hard and is a wonderful slap to get you back into what MiA is like if you experience it through the movie

There would still be enough shock value, there would be wonders and discoveries, there would still be Horrors, but at the very least we wouldn't have to experience the author being a creep 💀 your rewrite is just gonna become the canon in my mind truly

I'm especially a fan of your point abt Riko and Reg being treated like the inexperienced rookies they are, and omg I didn't even think of the logistics of whole adults just letting 12 year olds go on a suicide mission. jesus fuck man O_O This just cements my decision to make them adults even more LOL

Also the point of Riko being able to enjoy a wondrous, free second childhood in the abyss because she had to grow up basically ostriziced and put under her mother's shadow, all while being stuck in Orth as her friends kept growing up and delving deeper and deeper... FUCK MAN... This makes me think of what to change her title to bc at first i was thinking of "Sovereign of Hope" instead of Children, but with this context, she could also be the "Sovereign of Wonder" or "Truth"... SO MANY POSSIBILITIES

AND THEN PRUSHKA, who I always imagined to be just a bit older than Riko, would be a wonderful opportunity to show Riko that sort of family and childhood bond, and having true friends and doing fun little things together! ESPECIALLY to show Riko that she ALREADY ACQUIRED THOSE in Reg and Nanachi, and was just too focused on the abyss and finding her mom (coughLive up to her mom's projected legacycough) to really notice what kind of bonds she actually formed - and all that VERY neatly ties into the whole theme of bonds between people and their shared wishes!!!

i could LITERALLY go on abt waiting for the drop forever!!!

it’s literally so good.

i especially love that they let ricky sing once they’re dead as another way to truly Distinguish that they are In Fact DEAD!!!

also that they really go ahead and start to characterize each character before you actually Meet them! like with noel’s couple of lines!! it just goes ahead and sets up his whole (as well as in a more broad sense) the whole Anti-Uranium thing :)

-also LOVE the subtle lyric changes toward the end (“all those colored lights” and “gotta wear shades ‘cause the futures so bright” sounding the same as “life was about to start” and “never should’ve got into that rickety cart”) ITS SO SUBTLE BUT SO EERY I LOVE IT!!! (also bc that’s only the girls saying it. bc they were in the front. they would’ve noticed first. mischa noel and ricky got to be in ignorant bliss for just a bit longer yknow)

moral of the story: i’m obsessed w this song and it’s quickly becoming my favorite opening song from rtc :)

here’s my ranking though:

1. fall fair suite: i love that it shows so much of their Reactions to their death (all except for constance really……) which all goes back to the Setting Up Their Characters Before You Meet Them thing (it’s so good)

2. waiting for the drop (see above) ITS SO CATCHY!! i just rlly rlly love it a lot :)))

3. uranium suite OK JUST BC ITS 3RD DOES N O T MEAN I DONT LIKE URANIUM SUITE!!!! no!!!!! i fuckinh LOVE this one! it really does make me feel like it’s the exposition of a Based On A True Story horror movie!! it’s so eerie how karnak does the whole Story over the roller coaster motif being sung too!! it really gives me chills when it gets to the ‘did we finally leave our town?’ part IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY KARNAK AND THE ROLLER COASTER NOISE!?!!?!? it’s so spooky i Love it!!! and it does a really great job setting up the small town aspect of uranium.. i just like seeing the choirs reactions to their deaths more (if there was somehow a way to combine all 3 openings i would Lose it bc that would literally give you the most perfect mix of Before -uranium suite- During -waiting for the drop- and After -fall fair-)

*i have not yet listened to tragic fact,, from what i’ve heard of it it SLAPS though*

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?

pretty much all of my main blorbos have changed pretty significantly since i made em actually but i think the biggest and funniest transition out of all of them has to be Zeal. my first idea for her was like this tiny middle of nowhere bounty hunter like DEAD SET on tracking hydra and rainier down (notably for a totally different reason than the royal family wanting to drag hydra back to be queen) just to chew them out for knocking a big monster she was hunting off a cliff as kind of like. a one-arc antagonist that ends up tagging along with them and then getting with hydra.

now she’s way more mellow of a character but i kind of like that better considering that a. the stakes against hydra running away are way higher now and beta-zeal would NOT fit tonally at all and b. public bounty hunting as a job is just... way less exciting now lol. like yes there CAN be big exciting monster hunting quests she gets assigned to go after that she is admittedly scary proficient at dealing with but shes also just the pest control and mobile slaughter lady with cool meat symbolism. yknow.

43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks? It’s time to confess

REALLY tough one hrmmmmmm..... i think if i do have a type of character to Write i’m not really aware of it as i’m doing it i just tend to design a character and build their personality from there. i have very much noticed that i tend to always subconsciously want to backpedal into something more lighthearted when writing villains that are objectively horrible people and purposefully tragic characters even when i’m set on it so i guess there’s that. writing silly guys definitely comes easier to me <3

as for Designs... i have two answers. serious answer is that... i think other than skewing a bit towards beefy/muscular ladies with lots of body hair for both personal butch gender reasons and also because Its Hot i experiment with new fun designs and shapes more often than i don’t. i think Rainier, Pixel and not-corpse Collette are the only three that really... fit that bill actually and even then they’re all VERY different designs.

as for the not-serious answer...

i think you’d have to actually kill me to get me to stop putting even just the tiniest happy trails on every character i make ESPECIALLY on hot ladies it’s totally a subconscious thing at this point. this is ALSO falls into gender self-projection territory a little bit but for the most part its because its just objectively sexy as hell lol.

💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

Confrontations, arguments. He doesn't have a lot of experience managing a conflict and it stresses him out when he's stuck in the middle. Having someone with a soft hand to help him deal with people when they're angry is needed, even just a hand to hold and squeeze would give him a bit of strength when he wants to run. Diego is a great mediator when screaming isn't involved though.

🥞 PANCAKE - what is their comfort breakfast?

Waffles 🧇 He's the waffle maker in the family and Lily destroys that poor boys sleep schedule by annoying him in the wee hours of the morning for em. When it comes to a breakfast comfort food that he doesn't make himself, it's Bruno's huevos pericos.

🌙 MOON - what is your oc's greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it?

Oh man... Diego is family oriented and has already proven as a child that he's willing to carry the weight of his family's mistakes in the timeline and goes out of his way to right past wrongs. I guess the question is what wouldn't he do for someone he loves, at great personal sacrifice... he needs to learn to care for himself just as much as he does others. that didn't really answer the Q

Easy. No doubt. Would trade all his years. Give up his gift. Whatever it took.

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

Tragic spoilers and trigger warning

Luna should not have been able to have children but as I wrote the story and took more and more away from her I felt she, or more so Bruno and her, deserved something bright after hardships. As their mini patchwork family came together I knew their family dynamics would fall into place and I rewrote part of the story outline and gave Diego a bigger role which was later the key focus in book two. Also... mini Bruno but lighter, happier, less childhood trauma yknow.

❇️ SPARKLE - what is their most prized possession? what do they value?

The rosary Bruno made for him with one bead from Bruno's, that is an heirloom from Pedro (Bruno made one for each of his kiddos), also the coat Pedro gave to Diego, also also the ring he wears that represents Auri.

🌪️ TORNADO - what is the biggest change you've ever made to them? how have they changed from their original version?

Hmmm... I guess I sorta answered that above. As far as his personality and overall character design I never made any changes to that.

💔 BROKEN HEART - what could their partner do that would absolutely break their heart?

KDJSHHAHAHAHAH NOOOOOO don't make me think about this 😭 Ugh. Noooo. Well if they hated his family, that would crush him. I would say, if they up and left completely without saying a word but then again knowing damn well Diego would follow him to hell and back so...

sorry if i keep sending you asks i think it would feel a lil weird to dm bc my accounts on sns tend to be kind of throwaway accounts bc i don't know how to build an online presence prob freaks ppl out lol but yeah exactly you can tell that a lot of new jikookers experienced fan fiction for the first time with jikook so they just be reading and writing whatever. no critical thinking just big cocks and alpha knots is what it takes. the thing is that imo years ago you used to like a pairing and then get inspired by them to make up stories/characters, whereas i feel that now jikookers first and foremost see jm and jk's relationship and personalities in That specific way and it translates to fics as well. they keep saying it's just fiction but i don't buy it lmao i think it's the opposite so yeah it kinda fucks the whole thing up yk. i have so many thoughts about the way people talk and think about jimin these days but im so scared putting them on public posts will get me doxxed or some shit. people are very attached to the idea that jimin acts openly queer which is really like. well. yeah. i definitely think people reallyyyy need to remember it doesnt matter how much you believe someone famous is queer theyre just presenting in a way that makes them happy and you really do NOT need to decide whether that's queer or not lmao in fact i think it says way more about someone when they decide he's queer because he doesnt act like a "typical man". like yeah in his performances obviously he explores gender some times but like sometimes songwriters are also exploring themes and thoughts that are purely creative. sometimes its not about them (and sometimes it is!) but. yeah. you can PERCEIVE him as queer if it makes you happy but you gotta remember thats not fact thats just what YOU think. yknow. and i also think this translates kinda into the fic people consume and create.

like here's the thing. people dont need to ACT a certain way to be considered men like thats ridiculous if youre a man youre a man regardless of how you act or what u say or what bits you have. same for any gender. which is why i generally think critiquing the cringey wattpad fics is a slippery slope. however, do i also think a lot of them have a very distinct cishet girl fantasy..... yes. but its embarrassing to write Y/N fic. so theyve gotta vent their desires somehow which is like fine i dont give a shit what people write. (as much as it bothers me how uncritically people read it and get it popular) but sometimes in a/b/o especially....... its VERY clear when your biases come out. which is why its sooooooooo obvious when someone who has never met real life queer people writes it. for example grouping "women and omegas" like they fill the same role despite being different subgenders when u could specify like. omegas and female betas. if u wanted. implying that women are still women even if theyre alpha but omegas are not men anymore. you get me? the fact that u decided to include male/female gender essentialism in the fic genre specifically around Not doing that is so unbelievably on the nose. and yet i see it everywhere. (i also think this is a symptom of people never having read other fandoms tho. they dont even know about gock [girl cock]).

also fics where the major antagonists are a group of girls that harrass jimin r super mean bc god we cant have a MAN do that or he's a predator. you get me? and the alpha jk who is quiet and broody and doesnt even HAVE to fight bc he's soooooooo strong the other alphas are just scared of his vibes. like you know the type of fic im describing. in general whenever the major antagonist of the fic is a bunch of women who also want to fuck jk (which like. if we're supposed to believe jk is soooo hot... like. they should?) and the author calls them a "gaggle" of women and emphasises how they "giggle" and their high pitched unpleasant voices..... brother we have some serious internalised misogyny to unpack with that one.

I’ve been reading a lot of rebirth/isekai webcomics lately, and have an idea to throw at you: a haunted book yandere which sucks readers in and tricks them into thinking they’ve been isekai’d into a fantasy world, and casts them in the role of the Love Interest of the handsome, shining, charismatic Male Lead (a Duke/Knight/Dark-Horse Prince/etc.) who's always ready to swoop in and save them from peril (secretly manufactured), who falls Madly In Love with the reader (so it seems at first), and who will do ANYTHING to make them fall in love in return. A passionate, heart-clenching romance novel with the Perfect Love Interest who’s devoted to The Plot and who doesn’t want to let you out. (Kind of like the Beldam from Coraline in that the entire fantasy world and its populace is an elaborate diorama puppeteered by him; he may not *play* the “King” in the world, but he’s the one controlling everything.)

Oh dude this idea is so mf DELICIOUS-- Also anon I got your second note and don’t worry one bit!! I definitely understand overthinking things and not wanting someone to get the wrong idea, so I’m grateful you wrote to me abt it :D. This idea is so fascinating!! I love that our love interest is so deceiving~~

And wtf anon your brain is so big how did you come up with such a beautiful plot?? And the BOOK being the yandere?? Yummy. I have seen a shitload of isekai webtoon ads and im ngl, they have definitely inspired me. I legit want to use this in a story; I adore that our main ‘love interest’ here has complete control over the universe.

I think the perfect cut-out prince is such a wonderful type, in which the yandere just wants to escape their troubles by playing a phony royal. They really only want a perfect life with their darling; and if our book yan here wants that, then a prince is the perfect character to play.

But imagine our sentient book here, was rather.. Mischievous. This item sucked the reader in, forcing them into a prison of pages and ink, where life was always expected and written out for you.

Perhaps he is a duke or a prince, with nobility of some kind. Or possibly, he’s the villain, maybe the poor sap on the side of the road who you learn is of influential power. Either way, I think the yandere in this scenario would use fate against him. He’d twist and manipulate the story to make him look sad, damaged, perhaps even a bit ‘unfixable.’ Who doesn’t love a grim character with a tragic past? He can change the story to force the reader to help him, to witness him suffer. He’ll say sweet words, words of lies.

“I’ve never loved someone like this before.”

“Everything I touch goes to ruin.”

“You’re the sunlight in my dark world.”

Such sappy, romantic lines that sound straight out of a cheesy novel. And the reader will fall for it so easily. He’ll make sure it happens, make sure that he’s seen as desirable, that the reader thinks they can “fix” him, or make him less mysterious.

But I seriously adore the traditional romantic isekai stories; they are so nice, almost comforting yknow? Which is why if we’re going down the road of a charming princely character, I propose possibly, an airheaded type? I love dark and brooding, but it’s so much easier to keep your secrets if you act stupid. He’s so flirty without meaning to, always being nearby, saving dear reader from the wicked acts of the villain.

I imagine because the book has full control, possibly it acts as several different characters? Here me out: the only thing this sentient creature knows about the reader, is that they are fond of picking up books. He’ll learn more as the story progresses, but how will he make sure what love interest they want? Perhaps the princely character isn’t it; is it the oh so hot headed guard by the princes’ side, maybe even the villain is the answer.

The book doesn’t know for sure, so it sets up a multitude of plots and romantic lines, making sure at least one of the characters can swoon the reader. He’s in control of everything except for the person he seeks; this I believe would be a wonderful weakness. The book is obsessed with control, obsessed with predicting the outcome and knowing the answers. But the reader isn’t like that; the reader is incalculable. He’ll throw plot after plot, love interests and friends always seemingly trying to pry in on the reader’s personal information. The lack of control the yandere has is both a blessing and a curse to him. It’s addicting, knowing that there’s someone who he can’t figure out. But it’s also infuriating to have no hold on something so desperately desired.

He’ll make sure the reader’s dreams are filled with him, subliminally pushing his narrative and goals unto them. He’ll whisper sweet nothings, making sure no one dares to hurt his new form of entertainment and desire.

I imagine an omnipotent creator like that is amazing at gaslighting and manipulation. He’s literally like a god; and what happens if you disobey a god? Well, not sweet nothings and adoring love interests, that's for sure. An angry all-knowing creator like him, would be more along the lines of depriving the reader, and fucking with their head. He’ll make sure they can’t stand straight, can’t understand what’s going on in the story anymore. Perhaps it’s all for love, for a wonderful happy ending that secures both their happiness. Or possibly something more twisted: like the desire to own and control.

Jack Frost Designs Review

Yes it’s finally his time. This is going to include his book designs including previous incarnations in said books. There are more movie concept designs than book so, let’s dig in shall we?

This was in fact the first ever Jack Joyce designed while he came up with The Guardians Of Childhood. He even comes with his own backstory! (Which was cut. Sorry Joyce posts walls of text so it’s a girthy read.)

So instead of a young mischievous trickster, we got a much more depressing story of Jack. (Jack by default is sad obviously) but this one... It kind of hits differently and almost reminds me of the story he crafted for Pitch. A dad who tried to defend his family but through tragic events was ripped from them and changed completely. Design wise, he’s a lot more tree than snow. There doesn’t exist a colored version of this so we’ll never know if he sported winter and dull dead leaf colors rather than grassy greens.This Jack has a weird presence to him, I can’t put my finger on it. Rating: 6/10 He’s really neat! Just a little too Autumn feeling rather than a blend of both Autumn and Winter.

Nightlight feels like the baby evolution if Jack was a pokemon and that's what I’m gonna stick with. Below is a more recent version of him colored.

In all honesty that one is easier on the eyes proportion wise because sometimes Joyce has ‘interesting’ anatomy choices but we aint going into that today. It’s interesting how his hair somehow looks shorter and longer than Jack’s at the same time. Could be because the longer strands float seamlessly but star boy hair physics what can ya do. It’s a little hard to tell what is his skin and what is his armor, so that is a casuality in making a character only have one or two colors in their color scheme. I love other artist’s depictions of Nightlight but the canon one feels a little weak color wise. Rating: 5/10 Sorry, get some better LEDs and then come back.

Here we have a book Jack but I can’t entirely recall if this was used in the books or not. I digress. This design looks like him still wearing very Nightlight-esque armor/clothing and slowly growing into his new persona as Jack Frost. The intricacies are hard to make out but we’ll work with it. This one is very interesting to me because he very much looks like an older teen close to young adult. His hair looks very fluffy too. Not many complaints about this one but not much praise either.

Rating: 6/10 Not great but doesn’t stand out that much.

Remember when I said Joyce had ‘interesting’ anatomy decisions? Jack looks like he has half a head here and it bothers me GREATLY. This is the adult Jack design he went with. Supposedly he likes the opera and he sure looks it. This! Exists!! Kind of wish it didn’t. The outfit is nice but it just doesn’t fit Jack as a whole. This just screams to me that it’s someone else with a similar-ish hairstyle.

Rating: 3/10 Guess he’d be the...Phantom Of The Opera. (I’ll go home and so should he.)

And finally the final Jack. This is the one that almost exactly resembles the Jack we got in the movies(Probably because it was made after the movie but w/e) but just add a cape on him. I can’t really tell if hes got a hoodie and a cape, or just a cloak+hood on top of a sweatshirt. It isn’t too important because my thoughts on this one are obvious. Rating: 10/10 Edna Mode would have a field day with you boy.

MOVIE DESIGN TIME

Joyce claims this is a design he drafted when Leonardo DiCaprio was considered to voice Jack and I can kind of see that with how his face is drawn here. This Jack looks a lot more like a warrior and less of that trickster look. I can’t say I’m a fan of the weird antenna his hood has but his sword is really cool looking.

Rating: 4/10 Nice bow and sword but it can’t save your fashion choices.

This looks like a lanky 11-13 year old who would put rocks or slugs in my shoes and relish in my disgust. He has the exact look of a snot nose kid and I’m unsure how to feel about it.

His various hairstyles drafted here sort of make him softer looking or just more of a snot nose, no in between. Maybe even an Anime Protagonist.

The top right one almost looks like Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon if you squint. It’ll be a little hard to rate them all as one individual but why not.

Rating: 5/10 I don’t hate them but they aren’t my cup of tea.

AH- IS THAT A FUCKIN GREMLIN?

Oh wait no it isn’t he looks like a 10 year old. Whatever don’t feed him after midnight. The staff’s design of not being shaped like a G is an interesting tidbit but the whole design looks like he’s really young or like a troll etc. This Jack looks like he thinks girls have cooties uses outdated slang.

Rating: 4/10 This is me being generous.

It honestly looks like he hiked his pants up all the way to his chest. A late teen with horrid fashion choices once again. Not many other thoughts here.

Rating: 2/10 Get a sweater on or something.

This is one is very interesting looking to me. His clothes looked a lot more leather based and very human-like. The tatters, tears and frays all make him look like he was a victim of an accident that never changed his clothes. It makes me wonder if this Jack had the same death as the final movie Jack or something else entirely. Either way, this one looks like hes a mid to late teen which really adds to my intrigue.

This was another image that greatly resembled the design so I included it here. It almost looks like his skin is blue here which is pretty neat to me at least. He’s also got leaf motifs here, which from the first Jack design Joyce made, we can see a pattern here.

Rating: 8 /10 I was originally weirded out by his head but now its not so bad.

This Jack is definitely dressed more like a nature boy rather than him having human influenced fashion and it’s an appealing touch. The tiny leaf sprouting from his staff is also kind of cute since the designers seemed to want to put leafs somewhere on his designs. His hairstyle is also very cute but it reminds me of Sasuke Uchiha in a sense. (Not a setback for me at least)

Rating: 7/10 13 year old Jack is going thru a phase.

I thought this Jack didn’t show up again in story boards but I was wrong!

They look a little different from each other but just similar enough to pair together, so bare with me. The first one obviously has looser pants, slightly longer sleeves and got his leaf motif going. This second Jack is a VERY green. It gives the impression that this Jack made his clothes out of plants and natural materials. Again I’m not wholly sure if greens fit his color scheme but they sure went for it for a while. I can’t say I’m a fan of it because it heavily reminds me of Peter Pan.

However a very similar looking Jack could be found in this storyboard. It doesn’t look as green as the other storyboards made it out to be and looks more like dead grass. Which is a pretty nice touch.

Rating: 5/10 I don’t hate it but it just doesn’t vibe yknow.

Speaking of a vibe...hoo this certainly has one. This Jack isn’t old but certainly doesn’t look very young, maybe in the 20-30 range, thats just me. He has facial features that remind me of Pitch but resembles the Jack Frost of Santa Clause 3

That being said, I wondered if him looking similar to Pitch was in the storyline of them being brothers.(Which was a scrapped thing, who knew.) He’s a bit more menacing in this design but certainly seems like he relishes in his work.

Rating: 4/10 I’d make it a lower score but I gotta give it props

NOW THIS JACK IS KINDA INTERESTING. This one looks like he’s 16 and going through a grunge phase. He’s gonna play Nirvana loudly and not turn it down even if you tell him too. His staff itself has mini icicles hanging off of it and leafs look stuck to his shirt. Did you glue or staple those on Jack? His hair also looks much longer than his other designs and I kind of dig it( Shut up I’m bias.) I’m not wholly sure why else this design has stuck with me but it just has something about it that I just love. I wish there was a full body drawing of it.

(He also kinda has the same hair as the Jack Frost in Runescape but I wont go on about that hoo hoo)

Rating: 9/10 *Bad Boy by Cascada plays in the distance*

This one definitely feels like middleschooler trying to be in a band. His sticks just resemble drumsticks to me what can I say. I’m a big fan of his shoes and his color scheme screams a hibernating tree in winter. His hair also looks like it’s covered in frost rather than it being wholly white, which is very neat!! He looks like he wants to fight but has slight hesitance. Overall a very balanced Jack.

Rating: 8/10 He’s ready for band practice

Not many thoughts here, I just found these tiny Jack designs cute. His hoodie being a jacket instead just adds to the charm of this one.

No talk to him he angy.

Rating: 6/10 fun sized boi

Now this Jack resembles the one earlier that dressed entirely in leather brown colors, however he clearly is different than that one. I’m gonna say it, he looks like a zombie or undead in this design and its pretty fucking gnarly. I don’t know whats going on with his hair but I’m gonna assume it’s just the wind making it look like that. He just has the vibe that he was once human but was turned into something else entirely. It isnt in uncanny territory but borders that. This version of Jack meeting Pitch and the others would have been *very* interesting. Rating: 7/10 Eat a twinkie Jack you’ll feel better.

The final design! I can’t complain much about this one. The way his staff subtly has a G shape and a hexagon(his signature shape) is a wonderful touch. Additionally, the way the frost is gathered mostly where his hand is such an intricate detail. His signature hoodie is iconic at this point so I can’t bad mouth that either.(I can’t anyway because there's no complaints from me here.) Although, I never understood the leather straps that his pants had or their functions. I couldn’t find any colonial outfits that resembled Jack’s pants so its a total mystery to me at least.

And I can’t go on about this design until I mention the snowflake pattern in his eyes

Pure beauty. It’s at a hue of blue that almost looks impossible to have, combined with the electric blue color of the snowflake in his eyes. The amount of detail in this movie amazes me to this day. Rating: One Great Blizzard <3/10

Dark Choco will (probably) not be redeemed, and here’s why

alternate title: i would rather brainrot about chapter 13 than do homework

Very long and ramble-y post under the cut ^-^

Chapter 13 has been out for a little bit now, and it’s all everyone in the fandom wants to talk about -- and for good reason! After the goofy aside of the Hollyberry Kingdom story, fans had been thirsting for something a bit more serious. Well, as serious as a cookie game can take itself, anyway.

Chapter 13 came with what might be the most anticipated moment in the entire franchise: the clash of father Dark Cacao and son Dark Choco. The confrontation was a pinnacle moment for the game as a whole, just as much -- if not more -- of an edge-of-your-seat moment as Dark Enchantress’s identity reveal.

now there’s one question on everyone’s mind: will Dark Choco, our tragic hero-turned-villain, be redeemed?

with the confrontation currently happening in the game, now more than ever fans are crossing their fingers for a redemption arc to unfold for our unfortunate little meow meow, Dark Choco. A character with a tragic backstory; a hero with intentions more pure than freshly fallen yogurt snow; a young man who only wished to rescue the lives of his kingdom; cursed to be the kingdom’s end in his quest to save it. surely his arc will end as a happy one, where he can make peace and reconcile with his father?

well...

things are looking grim for our forsaken prince. The odds are stacked against him, and I would like to discuss that in this mini essay. So here are my thoughts:

Dark Choco will not be redeemed, from a character, writing, and marketing standpoint.

Not everyone is meant to be a hero

Dark Choco might be one of the most fleshed-out characters in the entire franchise. He is complex and an interesting character study (which might also be why I enjoy writing him so much) and GOD i could rant and rave about him all day (but maybe that’s for a future post so ill be brief).

Dark Choco sees the world in black and white. When he failed to be the hero, he believed the opposite path to be the only one for him. Dark Choco is not a twisted villain. Dark Choco is not an innocent little meow meow. He is a tragic prince of good intentions who is forced to live with immense regret over the things he’s done (most of which he had no control over, since he was, yknow, literally cursed). The weight of the sorrow he carries with him has forced him to believe that the only path for him is that of darkness. He believes he is no longer capable of anything good because long ago a cursed artifact took hold of him and caused him to unwillingly lay waste to the very thing he wished to save.

To suddenly pirouette into goodness and reconciliation is just... very unrealistic. Dark Choco is burdened by his guilt and he has told himself he is bad and evil so many times that now he believes it. He wants to be good, he wants to help the people he loves, but he can’t, because he has convinced himself that he is only capable of causing pain and destruction, no matter his intentions. This isn’t to say Dark Choco is all sunshine and rainbows on the inside. he’s done bad while fully conscious, but that’s a dissection for another post.

Dark Choco is too far gone into his spiraling mindset to suddenly step onto the side of good. He is the only one who can change his perception of what it means to be “good” or “evil,” but honestly, with how things are going for him, I do not think that will change any time soon.

Context is key

With that out of the way, I am now going to step out of the lens of a character in the game, and instead look at this from a developer’s point of view.

There are many things to say about the Cookie Run games. They are cute little time-passers with simple characters and silly gameplay. Sure, the story can get intense at times, but the game still remains the same -- a goofy mobile application about talking gingerbread men.

Dark Choco is, as mentioned, written to be a tragic hero. Every single piece of his dialogue feels like it was taken straight from a Naruto villain or something of equivalent edginess. That is his character. Fullstop. Period.

To give Dark Choco such a wide arc would not work from a writing standpoint, as it would simply just not make sense at all in the context of the game. To have Dark Choco redeemed, yet all his dialogue from before the redemption remain the same would be an utter juxtaposition and might even confuse many players. It’s not like Devsis would redo all his idle dialogue in Kingdom, either, as that is a huge sink of work and money that would more than likely not return a profit -- what are they supposed to sell, a resource pack with the new lines?? If it doesn’t make money, it will not be developed.

You could argue that there are characters who have inconsistent dialogue and stories, such as Cotton (her story ended with her being a lot older than her playable character) or with Twizzly Gummy (taken back to her timeline by the TBD), but those are malleable in terms of turning them into playable characters. They don’t have arcs that change the intrinsic traits of their character. They remain mostly static throughout their side stories, thus making it way easier to incorporate them into the game as their personalities are more easily pinned down.

Having a character who is already fully incorporated into the game go from black to white is just entirely unfeasible and it would be baffling regardless of what direction the devs would take them in in terms of idle dialogue and characterization -- to have Choco be redeemed and remain the same in the overworld would confuse new players but also make his redemption feel entirely inconsequential, but changing his idle dialogue and such would also confuse new players and Dark Choco would straight up just lose the part that makes him actually complex.

so uh em er basically, from a dev standpoint, this makes absolutely no sense and would only cause problems in the storytelling.

(ok this part was really fucking hard to explain my brain is going brrr but hopefully you get my point????)

That wasn’t very cash money of you

Finally, we all have to take a look at what Devsisters truly is: it’s a company, just like any other, and companies have one goal: making as much money as possible.

Dark Choco is a fan favorite. Why? Because he’s complex and tragic, and let me tell you, fans ADORE tragic characters. When a character - especially one with good intentions -- has been scorned and undeservingly punished, fans go wild. fanart, fix-it fics, and dissections (Like this one!!) run rampant in fandom spaces both online and IRL. All fans can talk about is their poor little skrunkly and how he/she/they deserved better.

And do you know what happens when people rant and rave about their favorite characters?

It begins to interest their friends/followers/mutuals, thus bringing in more players/viewers/readers to a piece of media.

And do you know what happens when more people start following a game/book/show/comic?

The creators make more money.

Dark Choco is a fan favorite indeed. Everyday, I see people on my dash talk about him, draw him, write about him, all because they love him and are sympathetic towards his strife and his flaws and his story. Dark Choco is an interest generator for the franchise. His tale of woe interests people in the games, and thus, makes them play the games.

What would happen if his problems, the very things that make him who he is, were solved?

He’d lose his appeal.

When he loses his appeal, people lose interest in him and talk about him less.

When people talk about him less, the game reaches less people.

When the game reaches less people, the game does not make more money.

If he were to be redeemed, the appeal would disappear, and with it, potential customers. Devsisters will not redeem Dark Choco because they are a company, and baby, he’s workin’ his 9-to-5 on the reg.

So, there we have it, a few reasons why Dark Choco will not be redeemed. Now, I can’t see into the future, so I might be wrong, but I am pretty confident in my analysis. I will actually probably make a followup post on why Dark Choco could be redeemed, but for now, this will quell my insane brainrotting over the Cacao family and chapter 13.

Why would Loki believe what Mobius tells or shows him? Frigga's death-film could be faked, Loki's responsibility for it might false, saying he always fails and causes death etc. ... where's the proof? Yes, the segments were selected to manipulate his emotions and align him with the TVA, and there's self-loathing, but he's also supposed to be smart and familiar with how lies work. Objectively, I agree with you - that is, I fully recognize and agree with the characterization of Loki being intelligent and also manipulative (and therefore more than familiar with the art of lying), and I agree that it would be really, really hard to manipulate Loki without him realizing what you're doing and figuring out how to counter it and manipulate you in return (and you won't figure it out as quickly).

However. I don't think Loki is impossible to manipulate, or that his intelligence and innate capacity to lie (often and well) mean that he's immune to falling prey to someone else's schemes, when those schemes are rooted in/relying on all of the rawest vulnerabilities that Loki, as a person, possesses.

Loki's tragic flaw (or one of them, in my opinion) is that his emotions can and often do get the better of him because they are the result of how thoroughly and bone-deeply he hates himself. In Thor 2011, for example, Loki's initial plan evolves from trying to delay Thor's coronation into trying to simultaneously destroy Asgard's greatest enemy (and, presumably, destroy the monster within himself) and trying to prove his worth as a prince and a son to Odin. Were his plan to succeed, the only thing he would ultimately gain is validation that he has equal value to Thor. (Certainly he knows that Odin will wake up and Thor will eventually return; like, there are no long-term goals for keeping the throne here.)

Point being, everything he's orchestrating becomes motivated by emotion over logic and, ultimately, he doesn't really lose so much as he gives up because Odin rejects his plan - and, therefore, rejects Loki - and it hurts him so badly that he attempts to kill himself. He literally can't live with the pain it causes him.

So, I mean, we already know that Loki is deeply emotional and immensely insecure. We know that he's felt inferior and out of place his entire life, only to have those feelings validated by the revelation of his being Jotun and the rejection of his effort to prove himself as worthy as Thor.

We also know that a literally suicidal Loki ended up going through an extremely traumatic experience with Thanos and, furthermore, he has now failed pretty majorly in "taking over" Earth. Loki's in bad mental shape and, I mean, there's his proof right there that Mobius is right and that he always fails and causes death. He failed in Thor 2011 (and caused death). He failed in Avengers (and caused death). He believes himself to be worthless, deserving of rejection; he is emotionally unstable and has untapped reservoirs of pain under the surface.

He is, in other words, in an absolutely ideal place to be manipulated by Mobius. He doesn't seem to believe what Mobius tells or shows him at first - asking where Frigga is being kept, not believing the events that haven't happened to him yet, arguing back against every point Mobius makes, etc. But, as the scene wears on, you can tell he's becoming less and less sure that it's a falsity and more and more uncomfortable and upset because Mobius is unrelentingly digging at everything Loki's ever feared about himself.

That's the state Loki's in when Mobius selectively shows him the most painful scenes from his future.

Not to diagnose Loki, bc I am not qualified to do so, but to project a little bit - as an emotionally unstable person myself, who has struggled with mental health for as long as I can remember, I can very easily see how Loki would believe Mobius at that point.

It's like, imagine that you have all of these fears about yourself and they color the lens through which you view the world. I mean, Loki's experiences have definitely contributed to his poor self worth, and his family and culture have fucked him up - no imagined slights here - but when you hate yourself enough, it can alter how you perceive every little thing.

You may blame yourself a little harder for things that aren't your fault. You may too quickly assume that someone else thinks the worst of you when they may not think anything in particular about you at all. You may feel completely and utterly alone and hopeless about that ever changing because why would anyone want ever want to love someone as worthless as you?

Now imagine you've done some really bad things and, deep down, you feel guilty about them. You didn't enjoy doing them, but you did enjoy how powerful they made you feel, and that makes you a bad person, too. You weren't even wanted as a baby, for fuck's sake; you were literally abandoned for no discernable reason besides possibly being a runt, aka being born wrong.

These are all things you feel, and then here comes this person who is showing you events that have happened that he shouldn't know about, he's telling you information about yourself that he shouldn't have, he's showing you that he's got the resources to figure you and your life out and then he tells you to your face - while showing you even more failure and death in your future - oh hey, everything that you fear and everything that you feel? Yeah, that's all valid. You are irredeemable. You are responsible for death and destruction. You are unwanted, both by your family and by existence itself. You're only here so that others can have someone to stand on while they climb to the top. You killed your own mother because you're so selfish and vengeful! God, how do you even live with yourself, you destructive waste of space?

I mean, again, call me biased and paint me as projecting my mental illnesses on Loki but if it were me, no amount of intelligence or experience with lies would be enough to not believe every single word Mobius said about me (and about the situation).

It's certainly possible that Loki is playing along to escape; I mean, we know that he does eventually escape, though whether he gets captured again or not remains to be seen. But I think that, at the conclusion of the episode, Loki has just been broken down enough by everything he went through that day (it was a really rough day for Loki) that he's like, yknow what, just - okay, fine, tell me what I have to do bc I'm all outta options here.

(Actually, to be completely honest, I think there's both going on - Loki is resigned to being stuck with the TVA but also he probably recognizes that, at some point, he's going to get the opportunity to escape and might as well play nice until it comes along.)

So, yeah - I completely buy how that scene went down in regards to Loki believing Mobius.

also i wanted to rewrite all of season 5 but now that i read through more stuff you’ve said it’s just. blatantly obvious that the ending would be better, more “tragic”, and make so more sense if martin stabbed jon of his own accord instead of jon just telling martin to kill him :/ like it really might’ve even made me more okay with season 5 because the end goal would be dispelling this idea that martin is the fandoms sweet wholesome good boy and like u said before, is actually a little bit too righteous about the whole thing. also you have that distinction between jons perspective as an almost divine entity and martin who’s still pretty human and sees everything as such. idk why im rambling abt this in ur ask box but yknow. i guess ur blog is the s5 disappointed club :,) so here i am

Yeah. Now. You’d still have to fix a lot of s5 imho because a finale can’t stand on its own without everything that goes before it. There was a tone of filler and ooc stuff in s5 that meant that even the best finale would have had a tough time doing well because it would have been resting on week foundations. Mag160 was so good partly because of the buildup and the context of the show as well as because of the excellent execution. But yes you’r absolutely right that having Martin stab Jon of his own accord would have been more emotionally impactful because it wouldn’t have absolved Martin of responsibility for his actions. He and the audience would have had to confront directly how he betrayed Jon and subverted his will and doomed billions because Jon would have been the vehicle to convey all that. Having Jon just magically be ok with it doesn’t really make sense and just feels like the narrative protecting Martin from the dark implications of his actions and decisions.

Now in a different context Jon asking Martin to kill him could’ve been great. If for example it was the only way to save everyone. That also could have been a very touching and tragic moment. But it didn’t work in this context. The change was so abrupt that it really felt to me like they used the beginning of the ‘Martin fights and betrays Jon” script and the end of the “Jon realizes he must die to save the world and lovingly talks Martin through it” script. It felt like two halves of two different scenes got mashed together. It was SO jarring. I genuinely don’t understand what they were going for.

TPN Vol 8 - Chapters 66-70 Thoughts

[we're already on vol 9 but I'm slow with compiling]

I know I always rag on the "cop out" deaths and it is true that no corpse no dead, and I am curious if there will be any more worldbuilding regarding Lucas' survival (hello deus ex machina person) but uh. Idk. I'm sure it has a point and it makes sense in universe (having him be the reason for the knowledge among GP kids is good) but it just feels a little. Eh. Like it feels like paddling back on a small part of geezers guilt and feelings. In part it also feels like a "reward" for choosing the heroes moral side and going to help save Emma (why ever that happened - ig bc Gilda would blow up the shelter if he doesn't so. YAY).

Obviously the development is still his, and he obviously isn't expecting to find anyone alive there, but ig i felt like he was leading up to... healing more through the kids and not one epic Emma speech and "oh your one friend is alive btw" reveal later on. It feels like a spark of hope and happiness for him that I'm not sure if was needed narratively. He already decided he wouldn't harm them.

Like maybe they handle it very differently so i might be jumping the gun here but idk. It just feels a little... weird to me. Probably in a similar way how speeches about Norman hurt but also kind of get that "well uh about that...." Air once you know. I feel for the characters and their separation but it doesn't have the same weight it could have anymore.

In theory it reminds me a bit of the whole gate reveal structure in s2. With a setup being built up or established and a reveal just going "nvm that's not what we're doing".

It makes sense, I'm just not a huge fan of what it does for me for previously established things.

But i guess writing wise it puts its cards on the table with small scale Lucas and then Norman haha.

I find it rly funny how much the arc sort of mirrors the s2 arc so far (character assumed dead is alive, new cast of demon kill children introduced, a plan to kill demons).

Ig that might be intentional, for all intents it's a good method of conveying character change. Or different specifics or how things might be judged differently with different specifics (like hunting for enjoyment vs. farming)

I'm totally jumping in on this too early but idk it's interesting to think about.

That and also our whole "There's someone I want you to meet" - "ITS NORMAN" jokes made me think, like you could probably ACTUALLY restructure some of this in a way that would allow Norman's return here instead lol. Could be a fun AU, esp since we have the seeds of a (small-scale) demon annihilation plan anyway.

I also just find it funny to think about Norman grumbling from his future self that Emma agreed to some random guy's plan so easily udkhjsd

Obviously the time is a bit of a mess -- it's only been 3 months? is Adam out bc Norman's escaped already or was Adam just shipped to GP? if he already escaped, our boy is quick - plus, why would he go to GP. the supporters in Lambda probably know it's been compromised, so aside from freeing the children, there isn't a lot of reason to go there and while that may have priority, I feel like 3 months is a bit of a short timeframe for Norman to settle in there well enough -- so it's more wonky than anything BUT IT'S FUN TO THINK ABOUT.

btw I find it so funny how Emma has that whole "intent to kill" thing going on now, considering her later moral stance - like it's fair but coming from s2 it's a bit of whiplash haha especially since she's so determined about it right from the start. (though I have no idea if she ever addressed killing demons before this, memory bad)

Though notably she said "she wants to shut down the hunting ground too", not "want to kill them too" - and it's good that she draws a line but IDK IT'S JUST INTERESTING because what bothers her is the toying / no respect for their lives, right? - "this kind of hunt", not hunting in general.

... so like, if you were hunted by a demon in the wild, who didn't toy with you, just killed and ate you, that would be fine then? Idk, it's a very fine line and I get it, but it's interesting to think about. A quick, suffer-less death is of course a valid thing to want if you will die anyway, but you're dead afterwards in both variants.

Of course maybe I'm reading it wrong and it's just her sort of realizing that between mass production farms and GP, they really did have it good, even if they died an early death, and how this is much more hate-worthy than GF's method. Which is true, I suppose, and might expand on the building blocks of her moral development down the line (as in "there's different stages of demon-badness").

Also a more funny thought but imagine if Lucas DID have the pen, would... Geezer-senpai just not find the way back? And even if he did would he even get into the bunker? That'd be one tragic ending pff. Tell the person to run away and they can't even go back inside sudhdjd

Also i thought about it and isn't it weird that none of the books or materials mentioned what goldy pond actually is? Like youd expect sth that important to be in there.

We know WM wasn't at the bunker in the last 13 years and we know that the books he supplied to GF, the newest one was 2015. What if he was discovered or had to limit his WM activity 30 years ago?

So 30 years ago, he still sent people to goldy pond.

I'm just realizing.... That totally sounds like a setup for minerva to actually be on the demons side or a demon himself sjdhjddj. Like he orchestrates escapees (who are likely to be smart) and then sends them to GP where he and his noble friends can hunt them.

But where i was actually going with this uh, what if GP 30 years ago (potentially longer depending on how long ago he was there last) wasn't actually a hunting a ground? Why would you send kids there without a warning otherwise? What if it WAS a small human community (tho that would likely have been passed around by the inhabitants) or it was at least WM supporter base like the bunker, intended for humans to live there. Not sure about mansion then but YKNOW.

If it was, i wonder if it being discovered was a huge part in WM cover being blown OR if the demons decided to keep it secret bc you know this place is rly convinient haha

I also wonder how wm even finds and builds all these underground things lol. Bc it can't have existed since before the world split i think?

Man has some big construction projects running pfff.

So either Leuvis took it off but i wouldn't know why, and just dropped it on the ground for geezer to come pick up ORRRR he took one off for some reason?? maybe he threw it at the demon pff something is very un-continous here and i need answers-
