re: 'maybe john didn't even know it was possible'– like i said in the drabble before this, he's fooled around a little with curt, but nothing more than getting a bit handsy. he's had a girlfriend for around a year, so they were probably serious enough to get up to things too, but straight sex is very different from gay sex obviously.

i’m so glad you enjoyed! ☺️ i tried to include some of the thought process that might happen in the moment that i don’t always see in fics and i think it ended up translating well.

first date: surprise picnic at one of eijirou’s favorite places with a scenic view. man’s already thinking long term cause he’s pretty sure he knows what he wants. and he’s always thought this would be a romantic place to come back to in the future. he’d make all the food himself (read: he’d beg katsuki to help him impress you because he’s a fantastic cook; katsuki ends up doing most of the work and eijirou helps), buy your favorite flowers and put them in a vase when he picks you up, and clean up nice. he’s not sure why, but he’d be nervous and indecisive about whether or not to style his hair the way he always does or put it back in a bun, but don’t worry, mina’s already on her way to help a man out with such an important decision. (you can thank her for the bun; it means you can run your fingers through his hair later should the moment arise, and he hadn’t even thought of that until she suggested it.) he’d bring along more than one fluffy blanket and an extra sweatshirt - one for the grass and one to snuggle up in if you need it. he’d also try and find a secluded spot because he’s always lowkey dreamed of late night stargazing and romantic sex under the stars. don’t worry about getting cold, either. eijirou is a human furnace and will keep you plenty warm.

i feel like eijirou is the kind of person who would be pretty private once he meets someone he really likes, so he makes a point to make sure to talk to his friends after you’ve left because he knows how mina and denki can get. mina sweetly convinces katsuki to make a big dinner or something, and next thing eijirou knows, he’s walking in to katsuki and hitoshi talking in the kitchen while mina, denki, and hanta are whispering speculations about what happened. they ask a ton of questions, and denki makes some insinuation about ‘netflix and chill.’ eijirou gets red to the tips of his ears (which is unusual for him to be this flustered about it), simply says that you stayed the over and it was a really great night, and moves on to gushing about your pets or something else he really likes about you. hanta is the only one who takes the hint and can tell that you might be different to him than the rest, and steers the conversation with eijirou, which he’s very thankful for.

u have a no nonsense perspective i appriciate. am i being overly sensitive if i'm kinda triggered by those adhd comics where the protagonist gets diagnosed/accepts themselves and says something along the lines of "i get to forgive myself?!"? because my brain automatically injects "unlike those other people who don't have a reason to fail and cant/shouldnt forgive themselves". im neurotypical so im not the target audience but my friends keep putting that stuff on my dash and idk how to deal

A lot of "my minority is so great" art is kind of implicitly saying so at the expense of others. Dwelling on it is oversensitive, but I think you're right that there's a bit of weird subtext sometimes. (My personal most hated flavor on tumblr is Smug Asexuality Comics, but there are many versions.)

Lots of people can run into Executive Function, What Executive Function? problems, both from other neurodivergence and from things like situational depression, anxiety directly caused by stress, etc. If life throws a lot at you at once, you won't necessarily escape all these symptoms just because you don't happen to have a specific diagnosis of neurodivergence or chronic mental illness.

A lot of shit overlaps and so do a lot of coping mechanisms that can handle it. The named problems are just a specific constellation of symptoms that are particularly long-term, particularly intense, and that don't relate as much to changes in environment. So perhaps some people deserve extra help coping and extra understanding, but the building blocks of all these problems are things that everybody could use a helping hand with.

I doubt most of these comics are trying to say "nobody else deserves nice things", but one does sometimes come away with that impression.

What you should do next depends on whether your problem is that your friends are posting things you find annoying or whether you feel like you are not allowed leeway and forgiveness (by your own brain, by your friends, by your family).

One of these should be ignored. The other...

Looking at how they've presented themselves over time is always interesting. I think the queer experience of slowly questioning societal and gender norms (and gender, in many cases) is something I recognize in them. Im also curious how Phil's journey is different because he was out to his close ones for a lot longer, and it feels like Dan has more fun shouting about being gay because of the trauma that he associated with the label. I loved seeing their support of queer identities even when they were publicly closeted. It's nice that, even if they weren't comfortable being out, they wanted everyone to know they were a safe space

i agree! the different ways they've presented themselves to us over the years is one of my favourite topics to talk about tbh!

dan's journey wrt to gender presentation and how he feels about gender (not gonna theorise on how he identifies bc what do i know, but to quote him he's fine with being viewed as a man but also not offended if people use pronouns/gendered terms outside of that to refer to him) is interesting because he's said he's always been "flamboyant" but tried to hide that in his youtube career for a long time, and he's gone from saying "i can't do it i'm just such a boy" about painting his nails to having them painted more often than not, but also in day in the life of manchester he said he sometimes wishes he was a girl when looking at 'women's clothing', so it's clearly something he's felt for a long time.

i don't think phil necessarily feels the same pull to be gender non-conforming, but it is also something he's struggled with doing (in one of the stereo shows, when talking about the maid dress he wore in VPMO 2, he said that while it was a cheap joke outfit, a few years ago he would not have felt comfortable wearing a dress at all) so that might be something he's still working toward being comfortable with, but at the same time he's never felt shame about telling us things like he likes using raspberry scented body wash or that he does skin care (while when phil mentioned doing skin care dan was clutched by toxic masculinity saying "don't do- i mean that's fine!"

agree with dan having more fun shouting about being gay because of the trauma and i'm so glad he's reached where he is now! phil...i think for a long time he thought he didn't NEED to shout about being gay, especially because like you said he was out to a few people for longer. but i think it's something he realised he DID want to do after coming out to us. as he said in his coming out one year later video he didn't realise how much of himself he was holding back from us by not being out and it feels like a weight off his shoulders now. i think they both love being gay and shouting about being gay and celebrating that with us and im so proud of phil too <3 i actually have a hot take which is i think if it wasn't for dan's coming out he might have never fully come out to us, not just in a "if dan never had he never would have" way, but in a "if he and dan never met he wouldn't have" way, because he IS a private person and didn't think he was missing out on anything.

i am always so glad they made sure we knew they were accepting of us even if they weren't ready to be out. ngl it got kind of rough in like 2012 for me when dan was so adamantly against people thinking he was gay my own internalised homophobia brain went "does he hate gay people?" but that's on me, not him, or more accurately on BOTH of our internalised homophobia situations lmao. but yeah they've always been so sweet about their queer and trans fans, and one thing i personally appreciate so much is how they will use they/them for any fan they don't know the gender of no matter what their name/appearance/voice would make other people assume their gender to be! i feel so safe with them, and im gonna add this bc im still sappy after this weekend, so safe with phannies too <3 i think phannies queer identities and dnp's queer identities have ALWAYS flowed into each other and both sides of the parasocial line have made the other side feel safe and grow into their identities and helped them accept and appreciate other people's identities.

sanji is oblivious because well. he doesnt recognize when someone is attracted to him... and koala is oblivious because shes not 100% sure if nami likes her that way (despite being painfully obvious) (im sure koala would def know but i jsut think it's a little bit funny)

like sabo and nami writing the most romantic letters Ever to their crushes and then sanji's like "? this is from luffy's brother but for who?" (WHO ELSE DOES SABO TALK TO MOST ASIDE FROM LUFFY !!!) and koala just reads nami's letter and goes "aw this is sweet. im sure the receiver is going to appreciate this :]"

(also alternatively, oblivious nami so sabo and koala are Both struggling...) oblivious nami is her not being sure if koala even likes girls so when koala is romantic with her shes just like "??? does she mean this in a friendly way? what does she mean by this?"

Hello, my beloved Sabosan/Koanami enjoyer, may I interest you with my very very normal and not insane feelings about this idea? 🙏🏻 (I am not normal. Nor sane).

Sanji is oblivious because his self-esteem rests at the bottom of the fucking ocean and the guy can't fathom the concept of somebody liking him, even less being in love with him. He goes around the world giving love but the second somebody else returns it he's like "huh, this is nice. I wonder if this feeling has a name. I am sure they're just this nice to everybody else and it has nothing to do with their perception of me". So, yeah, trying to flirt with Sanji is... Hard. On the other hand, Koala is oblivious because, even if she accepts the possibility of Nami liking her back, she doesn't know if it's love or just a short-term crush. They're always joking about Nami having a lot of girlfriends, so for Koala, who probably has only thought about one person besides Nami romantically, it's a bit weird to guess if Nami truly has strong feelings for her.

So this makes Sabo and Nami go absolutely insane trying to find ways to make the other two realize they're in love with them. Without saying it out loud either because despite being in love and often reckless with these things... They don't want to jump to conclusions. They want to court them, or something like that. Sabo is a writer, and we all know that, so he comes up with this plan and starts writing letters to Sanji. They're the most romantic, Jane Austen, poetic letters about yearning in the whole universe. The thing is-- He doesn't personally give them to Sanji, he just leaves them in the kitchen for him to find, because he's a writer but he's also a moron. And Sanji instantly gets jealous and frustrated and "Who- Who is he talking to except me????" because Sabo isn't even that close to the rest of the crew, tbh. He's always with either Luffy or Sanji and Sanji thought they had something special going on. So it's kind of breaking his heart to find the letters, and if he needs some space between them, Sabo thinks he has fucked up by confessing and Sanji doesn't feel the same. Yay! Miscommunication! Meanwhile, Nami steals the idea like the burglar she is and starts writing letters for Koala too. Unlike Sabo, she actually does give them to her, but Koala genuinely thinks Nami is asking for her opinion?? And it makes her extremely sad, but Koala just goes "Oh! This is great, Nami. I'm sure the girl you're in love with will definitely fall for you now" and Nami wants to jump into the sea and drown.

So now you have Sanji, who's not speaking to Sabo because he feels a bit betrayed and it's hard to be next to him now that he thinks Sabo loves somebody else. And Koala, who tries hard to help Nami with the letters and wants to be next to her even if it's to support her with a crush that makes her terribly sad. And both Sabo and Nami are going through the worst time of their lives.

(And Nami being the oblivious one is also really funny because not knowing if a girl is a sapphic or not and having a "is this platonic or romantic????" crisis happens to every lesbian in the world. I raise you, btw, oblivious Sabo for the same reason because he truly thinks Sanji is girl-crazy only).

some ppl are just more interested in dabi's anger or relate better to the angry part of him or something. like im sorry but you said yourself there are not a lot of stories of ppl living their lives away from their abusers and coming to terms with it and being fine. even if bnha ends with the todofam having a nice family dinner or something to some ppl its gonna feel forced bc of how extreme/exaggerated their issues are for a sorry to solve it all.

Oh yeah, I can definitely relate and understand. My main abuser was very physical and I've definitely responded with anger over other emotions. The anger sometimes feels so fresh and raw and seeing someone embrace it when you're told to hide it or accept the abuse - like I understand why that side of Dabi appeals. My main issue is the reason why is often unstated. That it's less born of hating Endeavor for his abuse, but born out of Endeavor not loving Dabi in the way he needed. There's a difference and I just wish that was portrayed, you know? As for the ending narrative, I think I was very upset in 2020 and 2021 when it was clear we were heading to that sort of reconciliation (with Endeavor included), but the amount of backstory we got with Dabi, and just the way the entirety of the League story has added up, I now see the Todoroki family reunion as the best ending here.

I think it's less a sorry but more a commitment to do better. Here's where I think it's crucial to remind ourselves this is not a store for Westerners, and not for a Western Gaze. Enji acknowledging what he's done, not saving face, and apologizing, in my opinion, has a bit more meaning when looked at in terms of being done from a Japanese man in Japan then let's say the meaning from a (typically White) American man in America. There's more a culture of discussing parenting failures and parents apologizing here than there.

I have other posts on this very topic I can link to if needed, but this is a reminder that this story itself if not written for Western readers and a lot of the lens we apply to the story is very important for understanding why Horikoshi chooses the narratives he does. And viewing from that way really personally helped me be alright with him choosing "Enjidemption" when I would found it revolting pre-2022.

OHHHH THIS IS A FUN QUESTION, THANK YOU ANON!!! let me go from my highest to lowest.

for this question, im taking "main event stories" to mean the Big 4 SSR Events where the event story involves the entire team all at once (so no xmas events or sotn, or solo or duo events). and i will be judging these events primarily on their event story (so not as much as the gameplay, though thatll also be a factor. but i wont be judging the cards)

OH DANG WHY DID I EXPLAIN IT, THE TOT WIKI DOES A MUCH BETTER JOB AT DEFINING BIG 4 SSR EVENTS, HERE, THIS IS WHAT IM JUDGING

anyhoo, here is my personal ranking!

FIRST PLACE: Mysteries of the Lost Gold

my beloved, my favorite, my perfect shining star. lost gold was the first big event i played and it has yet to be dethroned as my favorite event story of all of tot. absolute homerun of a rich story with intrigue, high stakes, a good balance of tender moments and lighthearted ones, and just SO gripping in terms of all of the story threads coming together, plus the absolutely A+ nxx team interactions. my advice to every new player who comes into my inbox is "PLAY THE LOST GOLD DLC" because i love it so much. i will never shut up about how i love it so much. it has our very first raven!luke sighting. it has marius nearly getting stabbed. it has artem with gun. it has vyn doing that THING with the bow and arrow. LIKE. THIS EVENT IS PERFECT TO ME. it'll take something really really special to dethrone it.

SECOND PLACE: Enduring Light

this isnt recency bias speaking but my real honest thoughts: this story delighted me to no end. i was kept on the edge my seat for every single phase, and the sheer novelty of the story's setup and the gameplay was such a nice change of pace after the previous event formats started to get repetetive. i especially loved that this time, we had to suspect the nxx boys as well because that really added to my enjoyment of this event. it really felt like a mystery that had to be solved by us, and not just a mystery that will unravel by itself as long as we keep playing, if that makes sense? my point is i was immensely immersed in enduring light and i love it lots lots lots. luke looking stupendously hot in his outfit during the entire event was also a huge plus.

THIRD PLACE: a tie between Blizzardous Threads of Red & Mystery of Bakerlon

i really loved BTR and bakerlon!!! both of their murder cases were adequately thrilling for me, though towards the end i could feel the adrenaline wearing off, if that makes sense? like by the 4th phase, things were slotting together already in a way that like lowered the feeling of intrigue. also i know i said i wouldnt judge much based on gameplay, but these two deserve a shoutout for MINIGAMES I WANT TO KILL W MY BARE HANDS. bakerlon's crystal tasks were so repetetive to me, and BTR's TIMED ESCAPE ROOM THINGIES heightened my blood pressure several times HAHA

FOURTH PLACE: To My Beloved: Moonlit Eve (anniv 2)

this has a soft spot in my heart for including all of the old NPCs from main story, and that was very heartwarming. while theres no mystery that needs solving, just seeing the team hang out together and have fun together was such a treat for my soul

FIFTH PLACE: Secrets of the Tomb

sott is where i'd say the event story quality is inching towards the meh scale. the mystery here was interesting but was not particularly gripping to me. it might just be a me thing, but i enjoyed the side stories (the ones you get with the boys when you investigate the artefacts) more than the actual event story itself.

SIXTH PLACE: A Love Poem to Skadi

ahhhhh skadi. psychological and medical malpractice horrors skadi.....HJSVKHSJDFDSF. i will admit, the mystery in this story is HORRIFIC and it was enjoyable to unravel it, but here is where i break my rule again of not talking about gameplay but mAAAAAAN THE GAMEPLAY HINDERED MY ENJOYMENT OF THE MAIN PLOT LOTS. it was rather difficult for me to do all the exploration in that manor and that stalled my absorption of the story too. plus, i think the fact that the story is Over made the story have a bit of a muted quality to it. not in a bad way (i distinctly remember i wrote a semi-analysis post about how i enjoyed that the story was in the Past) but it definitely affected the mood of the gameplay, if that makes sense?

(that is the third time ive said "if that makes sense" in this response, THREE STRIKES AND YER OOOOOUT)

SEVENTH PLACE: Blissful Fete (anniv 1)

be honest with me.....do YOU remember the event story plot of blissful fete? cuz i sure dont. JVSKDHFSJDHSF. i only remember getting very very mad at luke during that fucking minigame where we guess if the card is higher or lower. that being said, if i cant even remember much of the story, then it didnt make an impact on me and couldve been improved.

so naturally he threatens reader about it until he realizes and understands that papyrus never came thru the machine with him.

so he disassociates

he starves himself

if his brother is still in a bad place, then he shall suffer as well.

i think of horror of the quiet kid in the back of the class who fsr always has snacks and never gets caught

his speech is verbally patchy. like, its spaced out as if he has to think about each word he says before saying it.

but, the more comfortable he is, the more he'll try to talk.

he may not be able to show it verbally, but bro is super smart.

while he is interested in stars, he absolutely loves gardening and botany

so if/when he gets a garden he tells reader how to grow really nice shi for no reason at all

on really bad says he'll sit outside in bare gardening dirt (its actually really nice, ive done this once or twice myself) and just bathe in the sun for the rest of the afternoon

since he has a garden, his response is to never let those plump and beautiful veggies go to waste

so he uses them in dinners!

especially when he figured out that okra grows really well in the sun-

one of his favorite things to grow are fruit bearing trees and strawberries.

since i want the fic to have a timeline of at least 3 years, reader gifts axe an apple tree from a plant store they found

speaking of, you guys go plant shopping a lot!

you think about re-shaping the backyard together a lot so the crew can spend more time outside

and with him around renovations are quick to do, even when it gets a bit expensive.

other times you guys will buy small succulents and saplings to put around the house, hoping and praying that the others wont trash them before they grow beautifully.

i head cannon axe to always have some kind of snack in his pockets.

bare chips, skittles he forgot to eat weeks ago, or even a whole ass sandwich in a ziplock which is absolutely funny to me

but his left pockets are where the best snacks are

because he remembers that side the most, and therefore restocks it more often.

other times he'll take you to the corner store if you're feeling the munchies and he doesn't have the snack you want

and if you try to pay, his bills are already on the counter by the time you even think of it.

bro doesn't care what food combos there are, axe will try to eat just about anything

which means you mix shi up like you would at school and dare him to eat it.

and he does, straight face and everything. bro would prolly lick his teeth after too 💀

he plays lil pranks on you, as its natural in his sansnicticityism, so you'll find spicy Mexican candies in random places of your room

other times he'll fuck around and shift some parts of your bedroom to see if youd noticed

aight, imma say it. dudes a touch starved cuddle bug. and if you show him affection with food?

since you're a child, he'll try to be more careful in terms of his strength.

kyouka's favorite animals are bunnies, chinchillas and kittens, but she's allergic to cats (imagine how awful it is living with atsushi /j)

it is very funny to me to imagine akutagawa gets easily scared

hirotsu is the aroace ally who gets to deal with everyone coming to him to rant about / talk shit about / talk about their crushes on others

Q speaks fluent german and they love jumpscaring the pm members with it

louisa loves to dress up her room whenever she uses her ability. she doesn't really need to, she just likes to. maybe she'll have some coffee, and a really comfortable chair, and some lilac or pumpkin spice candles depending on her Vibe TM, and its just so aesthetic

nikolai can replicate signatures, and by extension handwriting, almost perfectly. he uses this to his advantage to forge notes. he also uses this to help sigma when he's Super Fucking Tired

sigma's favorite cookies are double chocolate chip

dazai trying the pocky game vs chuuya who just takes the pocky, kisses dazai, and then eats the pocky

poe visits ranpo while hes in the agency and he'll bring a new snack for ranpo every single time, it's always something he's heard ranpo offhandedly say he wants to try

nikolai is a WONDERFUL cook. if he notices sigma hasn't eaten in a little while / hasnt left his office in a bit, he'll surprise him and show up with a plate of homecooked ukrainian food, or homemade cookies (double chocolate chip), and sigma is soooo grateful. i also think nikolai knows what sigma likes in terms of coffee so he makes him coffees a lot because sigma is so sleepy and gets caffeine headaches

tecchou refuses to eat food thats not the same color, but he's actually a really good cook and jouno is genuinely surprised when tecchou makes him an actually delicious breakfast/dinner/whatever, and hes like "so does this mean you're done with your weird food combinations?" and tecchou is like "no, but i know you don't like them so i'm not going to force you to eat them." and jouno is like. wait. hold on. why are you nice
