ena and sunday connections (aka: i'm so fucking big brained)

so an anon requested that i repost my analysis from my old blog back in january on ena and sunday connections. i will not lie, that post was made in a semi-feverish state and i did kinda feel insane when i was talking to a moot over discord about it. i did not save it for that reason but, anyway, um.

for the first part, i am going to discuss everything around that time that we officially had available (no leaks, as leaks are always subject to change and couldn't be considered "accurate" for character analysis purposes at that time). aka, sunday's livestream chibi. under the cut, i will discuss spoilers and my vindication and my thoughts on current theories that are apparently popular???

so, first of all, ena and sunday are very clearly inspired by Catholicism. like, sunday's name is fucking sunday. ena looks like a walking catholic church. also

ena looks strikingly similar to the virgin mother mary. mother mary is frequently seen with a veil, and ena is very clearly wearing a veil with a halo around their head... which mother mary is also frequently depicted with. ena's color scheme also matches the color scheme that mother mary is frequently depicted with -- white, ivory, blue, and red. you can see the red in ena's rosaries, which are also a big thing in catholicism. mother mary is frequently depicted holding something in her hands, be it baby jesus or the immaculate heart, and ena is very obviously depicted holding an orb filled with planets. so the connection to catholicism is fairly obvious with ena. yes, i will address the big ass eye. but for now, let's move to sunday

okay. i'm gonna be completely honest, just looking at these character's color scheme is enough to indicate some sort of relationship to each other. sunday's color scheme being strikingly different from his sister robin's, who notable matches xipe's color scheme far more. literally, down to his eyes matching ena's gold and blue. but the most important thing to point out on sunday are all the eyes that he has on him. there's three in his crown, there's a massive eye in the center his shirt on his chest. and, while his 3d model wasn't available at the time, there are even more eyes. i think his jacket alone has 4.

however, again, at this time we didn't have the full official model. just the chibi. but even with the chibi, the similarities were fairly striking and obvious.

also, sunday has had jesus christ parallels from the beginning, integrated into his character design. for one, his halo looks like a crown of thorns. there's thorns on his coat, there's two literal nail piercings in his wing. guy has never once been able to beat the jesus christ allegory allegations. pair that with ena's very clear mother mary parallels and, well... you've got a very obvious relationship between them.

okay. that was the gist of the original post. i feel like i posted something about robin and how she mirrored xipe more, but it wasn't as developed as the sunday and ena parallels.

discussion of 2.2 spoilers and criticism of some current theories i've been seeing, specifically fenge biyos secretly being ena and aventurine, by connections, being blessed by ena.

ummmmm, can we talk about that date? that date on the discord screenshot? 01/06/2024?

... yeah, anyway. i feel so fucking vindicated right now. but i'm also shocked that no one else pointed it out because of how fucking obvious it felt to me. the eyes, the mother mary and jesus christ parallels, the color palette, catholicism. all of this from character design alone, i feel like should have been a dead giveaway for their relationship that did end up becoming canon as of 2.2.

so. some folks may read this and wonder "hey, what do you think the theory that fenge biyos is actually ena?"

and if i'm being completely honest, it's a massive stretch and i will be honestly shocked if it's confirmed canon. i'm sorry. i thought it was ridiculous since the beginning, especially since sunday has far more coding to be related to ena than aventurine.

"but aventurine's eyes match the big eyeball in ena's art!"

okay. something unto death also has three eyes that shut that have a similar color scheme to the eye in ena's art. this connects both ena and fenge biyos, especially since it has three eyes on its left wing (and it's specified that fenge biyos is depicted with three eyes on a left palm). but it's not related to fenge biyos at all. also acheron's eyes have a similar color scheme to the one in ena's artwork, but she isn't related to ena at all. i know that aventurine's eyes are a big deal, but this argument is a fairly flimsy one if i'm being honest.

but more importantly, we know this very important detail about avgins worshiping the mother goddess

the avgins believe that, if you create statues or compose hymns for her, she would turn her gaze away from you. you would no longer be protected by her if you crafted hymns in her name.

and ena's biggest form of worship is through song and hymns. in fact, their biggest faction is called the Beyond the Sky Choir faction. the only way to hear their voice is through music. in fact, you can no longer hear ena's voice because the only records that we have in-canon can no longer be played because the last Phonograph of Order was destroyed.

it would literally not make sense for fenge biyos to be ena for that reason alone. because the primary form of worship and communication for ena is seen as a form of heresy for the mother goddess.

another point of contention is that we have seen the jewelry that is made in avgins' worshipping practices. and it looks like it has the Nazar in it, which is notoriously not related to catholicism.

see the 3 beaded parts with the dark center, light blue circle surrounded by white and blue? that looks exactly like a Nazar, or the evil eye, which comes from an ancient belief and practice not at all related to catholicism in the slightest.

now, if this were a rosary that looked like the one's in ena's portrait (white, gold, and red), i would be more inclined to think that there are some connections. but, there isn't. in fact, it just lends more credence to aventurine and the avgin's turkish romani coding (moreso the turkish part, not necessarily the romani part. i wasn't able to find anything accurate about romani religious practices using Nazar, as all the sources that came up with massively whitewashed and not from actual romani sources) than anything. in addition, what the mother goddess represents just... does not match ena's path at all. the mother goddess represents fertility, travels, and trickery, which isn't necessarily a stark contrast to the concept of order, but it is definitely not related to order.

but also, from a worldbuilding standpoint, hoyo would be shooting itself in the foot the mother goddess was secretly ena because. well, if they made the mother goddess to just be ena, you'd be destroying a very interesting plotline that her existence introduced. you'd be destroying the worldbuilding that non-aeon believers bring to the table.

yeah, so, that's my thoughts on it lol. i think sunday and robin being ena's specialist children, as it's been revealed as of 2.2, is another way for sunday to parallel aventurine's story. and we all know that hoyo loves a good parallel between their characters. however, i am not inclined to believe that fenge biyos and ena are the same beings.

So the humanformers hands thing...

Fun fact: The middle finger gesture originated from archers showing off to the opposing side in war that they still had their middle fingers; the specific finger most commonly used in archery. During one of the many French vs British war/battle/things, archers middle fingers would be cut off (to render their bows useless). Hence the gesture showing off that they still had their fingers.

Seeing Bulk and Bee's hands are missing a finger each, maybe they had a little accident? I get that their missing their ring fingers... but hey! Wacky weapons right? Modern equivalents and all. I can totally imagine it too: Bee with being captured by the opposition? Bulk could also just have had a construction mishap. But eh. WAR CRIMES.

I don’t know if it can be seen in the actual picture, but there’s scarring in the space where the ring fingers are missing.

So… ya

When thinking it out, I had thought they probably lost it due to the Decepticons, especially because they’re missing their fourth finger on both hands.

The decision to specifically cut/rip off the fourth finger may be related to a Decepticon belief, probably being symbolic of confessing/silence, especially because Soundwave also only has four fingers,.

With a vow of Silence, there’s an element not to say a word, so removing the ring finger for a Decepticon is used more as loyalty to the Decepticons, while doing it to an Autobot is a bit more like saying ‘we tortured them, but they didn’t say anything (we wanted to hear)’

If that makes sense.

So Bee most likely had his ripped off during Tyger Pax, which is also why they didn’t come off easily and ripped off part of his hand- being done on a battle field and by such large servos.

While Bulkhead’s was more likely done during a longer, more ‘professional’ interrogation, where he may have had his amputated after they realised that he wasn’t saying anything they wanted to hear (most likely because he genuinely didn’t know) and didn’t want anyone else to waste their time on him.

On the subject of Lightsabers:

I have lightsaber references! All on heroforge obviously, because I cannot draw blades, and with notes that mark their most distinguishing trait. SOme of these are colors, others are blade type, it really just depends on the most interesting thing about the blade. I'll put notes on how they differ from how they look in the AU in the notes, because obviously Heroforge only has so many blade options and they don't all look exactly like I see them in my mind. Enjoy!

The Disaster Trio

Obi has a sword and shield because Soresu is a defensive form. His shield and the crossbar of his sword are both based on the crest of the Jedi Order. In AU Canon, this is more obvious.

Ahsoka has twin daggers because her fighting style is highly acrobatic, and full length swords would make that... rather dangerous; to save space I only put one of the pair. In season 7, Anakin replaces the Kyber Crystals in her original daggers, so they are technically the same daggers but now they burn the same blue as his saber.

Anakin's sword is a dual-handed greatsword, because his form is very aggressive and relies a lot on hacking away at your opponent and physically overpowering them. Also something something dual-edged sword, something something foreshadowing.

Male Jedi

Kit's flame is less a flame and more of watery magic. This is because he is of an aquatic race, and I thought it was cool :D

Yoda has a rapier because his form is very acrobatic and rapiers lend well to that.

Not going to lie, I struggled with Ki-Adi's saber, so I made his really unique in that his blade is darker than the flame that burns by a drastic amount.

MACE okay so. My guy has an executioner sword, because he is the Arbiter Of Justice (tm). Also, these kinds of swords have blunted ends and aren't meant to be used in combat, meaning that for Mace to actually use it as a weapon he needs incredible skill. Which he has. I love Mace Windu :D

Lady Jedi

Shaak's blade is supposed to be wavy like Ahsoka's daggers; wavy blades are a symbol of the Togruta in this AU. However, Heroforge didn't have any good options for this >:(

Barriss's and Luminara's swords have hilts made of Mirialan metalwork- Mirialan metal is fired with special potions that turn it special shades of red and green and gold. It is almost as valued as Mandalorian stained glass in the Galactic Archipelago. If you look closely, the little you can see of Luminara's bracers is also made of Mirialan metalwork.

Grievous's CoLlEcTiOn *cough hack whEEZE*

My favorite is the midnight blue one >:)

I have nothing else to add, I literally just designed sabers I thought looked freaking cool. If you want to make up lore for them, PLEASE do, I'd love to see it :D

Sith

THE DARKSABER okay so it has lightning instead of a flame because I wanted to replicate those crackles that it has. Anyway I think it looks really cool :D Also the serrated edge? *chef's kiss*

Dooku's saber is a rapier because it's the Gentleman's Fire Sword. However it does not look exactly like this in AU canon; I have a Dooku drawing ref in the works and when I post that I can explain it better. Also it is modeled on Yoda's because I really want to play up that Fallen Jedi Angst >:)

Ventress's sickles (much like Ahsoka, I only put one here to save space) is highly based on her Nightsister heritage. Even when she was a Padawan, I think she had that inspiration in her Jedi blade. Their blades are shaped like moons, and even her force signature is tinged with Nightsister Green (because her dark side powers also incorporate Nightsister Magick; if they didn't, they'd be pure blood-red, because it's important to me for Lore Reasons (tm) that while Jedi can have this whole array of colors, Sith all have the same shade of red).

Original Trilogy Bois

Luke's green force signature is tinged with blue because I will always associate Luke Skywalker with blue. Don't ask me why. But Luke is BLUE and I will DIE ON THIS HILL. FIGHT ME.

Vader's saber is based on his greatsword from when he was Anakin, because I think he got attatched to the design. Also because I want that visual motif of "Anakin is still buried in there" because I am a sucker for symbolism and metaphors. But you know that already ;)

I don't have Anakin's original (and by original i mean like his umpteenth) saber, AKA Luke's first saber, because it's basically the same as we saw earlier, and these swords were TIME CONSUMING to render. However, I will note that the very tips of the flames on that saber begin to be tinged with sith red because of the atrocities Anakin committed with it. Someday I'll have a picture of it for you and you'll see what I mean

I don't have Old Obi's either, because again, TIME. CONSUMING. TO. RENDER. But it's basically the same as it was in the Clone Wars, just more corroded because my man was living in the desert.

If I cared enough to make Palpatation's saber (see i call him that because he gives me heart palpitations of rage) it would be here. But I do not. So it is not

(Okay. Yes he has a Saber in this AU I just haven't made it yet because I am Mad At Him)

I've been thinking about the Commander Jaguars|Ravage Clones in Energon and that rounded back to thinking about Ravage herself again. Do you think she deserves a Mace/Morning Star tail weapon once more in a new continuity? What would be the ideal design for her in your opinion?

Random thoughts but I thought you might like to think on her some.

Ravi herself is a stealth model so I don't think she would use a mace or a morningstar as they tend to be noisy and loud weapons. The clones having those makes sense--they attack en masse and they are not stealth agents. But I also think having a heavy object on the end of a long, flexible tail (that is part of a cat's spine no less) would be painful for her as it would be a constant downward pull on her tail.

(I am sensitive to this because I have a bad shoulder as a result of being knocked off my feet by a train that had stopped suddenly starting again. I was carrying a heavy bag, and the weight of it pulled my shoulder and arm away from the rest of me. It didn't dislocate the shoulder completely, but the rotator cuff tore. You don't want something heavy at the far end of a long, moving part of your body.)

My ideal design for her is based on a combo between the IDW Mastermind Creations Reformatted figure and the BW Ravage design, but less, uh, hypermasculine of course.

When she is on all fours, her torso is longer--her spinal struts are extensible, but there should be 3 and the extensible areas are different, so that she does not have any one place on her spine where they're all weakest. Tarn took advantage of that in IDW and we all saw how that ended.

Her opposable thumb/dewclaw pops out when needed, so that she doesn't have to put much weight on it when she walks quadruped. @dimorphodon-x drew some really great hand designs for her and for Glit -- Ravage is shown in IDW piloting a ship, and Glit is the best surgeon IN the Decepticon army.

Anyhow, so, her spine is compact when it bears her entire weight in bipedal mode but longer when she's a cat. Her upper abdomen/lower thorax is where she compresses, so that her proportions are felinoid when stretched out and padding around, but more humanoid when standing upright. It gives her the illusion of a femme figure that way, too. BW Rav is very bulky and Ravage herself is a stealth person, so narrow the shoulders and hips a bit, but narrow the hips less than the shoulders.

I love the knives on her tail but I've always specified that she can sheathe them inside of her tail tip so that she doesn't have to worry about randomly stabbing people when she needs to vent energy out through her tail and also so that she can sometimes use her tail along with or in lieu of her spike.

The one major thing I would change is the location of the missile launchers.

The person who designed that doesn't own cats. On all fours with their long twisty spines, the physics of firing missiles from a hip mount would be unpleasant at best and even if there were built in buffers, over a time it would cause damage and degradation to the lower spine. That's probably why late in (G1-IDW-BW canon) life, as she moves further from a G1 frame through a late IDW frame to the BW frame (if you look at them there's an obvious transition from point A to point C) she elects to be bipedal almost all of the time. The hip missiles will have done for the twistiness of her lower spine and to maintain her strength it'll have to be fused into place so she doesn't Tarn herself when she shoots someone.

I ... wish I could draw.

The one difference between my mental designs for her in VOS and some of the lovely drawings Dimo did of her for that RP, is that her head in biped mode at least is shaped more like BW Rav's, giving her more room in her cranial case.

Also, the thing I like least about the MMC Reformatted Jaguar is that her lower jaw is so freaking tiny. It's like putting a cat's lower jaw on a jaguar's face, wtf. Although G1 Ravage's face is more like that of a thylacine than that of either a big cat or a dog/wolf. There is nothing other than a thylacine that has that much range of motion in its lower jaw.

So I don’t really plan to draw QWERTY with any of the main characters in ultrakill because they have their own story with V1 (and QWERTY operates differently, not really as aggressive/eye catching as V1) but I kinda wanna draw them at least encountering Gabriel (because I’m silly)(and don’t want to make an angel oc I’ll barely use)

This next part is just me saying things but it’s kinda plausible? For them to get noticed, I mean. I imagine QWERTY is much more resilient than the V models but that means their only strength in speed is their rollerblades and they’re pretty clumsy otherwise. Like hi Gabriel ultrakill I’ve survived the worst experiences of my life, I am a roach that can’t be killed and I will scurry around hell causing havoc where I see fit. <- speaking of the roach thing, back to that detailed art I did (which I am still insane about, wtf possessed me) in the last 2 panels QWERTY is taking a hell energy blast directly and only being knocked out of the way rather than absolutely blowing up

Ok now I’m just going to ramble about my OC:

I haven’t rlly thought of it’s origins but because I based them off the V models, I believe it was some sort of tank war machine. I mentioned yeah, they’re clumsy (looks around. At the atrocious restarts I had for V2 and Gabriel fights) and a short time in hell solidified their first goal: we need to be faster. So, of course, they get into a fight with a machine and steal their legs lol. QWERTY’s legs before would’ve probably been similar to a sentry’s. Now that I think about it… QWERTY does display qualities that’d make them older than V1 but to make sense of the gap in combat experience V1 has over them we’re just going to say that QWERTY was put into storage after being deemed “not needed anymore” (ouch). Because QWERTY is older, their design is prone to overheating when stressed both physically or emotionally. The lights on their face & arms, wings, and around the eyes will heat up and glow a dangerous orange. It’s not until the stressor at hand is removed that they’ll relax and steam will be expelled in an attempt to cool themselves off, leading to dangerous situations as they struggle to focus on multiple points of interest.

QWERTY favors piercing weaponry with the sharpshooter revolver being their main weapon of choice. The only other character I’ve made them meet is the Swordsmachine purely because when I played the demo I did so horribly against them. Just going to bend canon a little and say V1 crippled the machine during their 2nd fight and later on QWERTY finds them and ends them, taking their sword for their own.

This above is where the sword thing comes from lol, I still really wish we had swords as an option. Though the sword isnt in QWERTY's primary weapon picks, it's still used here and there; you never know when you'll meet another swordsman you can spar with.

At the moment I'm running out of things to talk about because my brain is a little fried but going back to the overheating thing: because of the obvious "this thing is going to have to deal with this status for a while" they're built to withstand the heat longer than a normal machine. This allows them to also take hell energy attacks decently well though it's immunity only slightly helps when in contact with lava or greed's golden sand. I imagine when they're in this state they make a sort of muffled but mechanical "thump thump thump" sound from idk their engine or whatever working overtime in their chest.

I guess since I'm on the topic of sounds now, it's capable of speech although they don't talk much at all and the lack of opportunities to is leading them to lose their speech. Aside from that, they often hiss and make grinding sounds from their chest and maybe the occasional whirring. If I'm to be honest I can see them attempt to "sing" in tune with the sword's motor when it's revved.

KH OC Week Day 2 - Inventory

Tell me about your keyblade.

Answers under the cut:

Ferrum - Taenite

When Ferrum summons his keyblade, a small shockwave instantly forms at his feet, exploding outward with an AoE effect powerful enough to stun anything or anyone that happens to be in his vicinity (but not actually hurt them).

Since it's modeled after a key for a pin tumbler lock (like Fenrir and Braveheart), Taenite is much more “blade” than “key” compared to the standard keyblade. In fact, the blade is more comparable length and widthwise to a massive great sword in the vein of FFVII’s Buster Sword or Berserk’s Dragon Slayer. Despite its larger size, Taenite doesn’t actually feel any heavier to its wielder than any other keyblade would due to the magical properties of the weapon. Still, people tend to stare when they spot Ferrum holding up his solid metal slab of a keyblade effortlessly in one hand.

The wrought iron design of the frame on the guard and the half-circle above it connected to the blade are taken from one of the windows in Traverse Town’s Fifth District. Meanwhile, the “stained glass” of the half-circle is meant to represent the windows on the second level of the First District Item Shop. The keyblade’s handle is wrapped up with a rough green cloth resembling athletic tape for added grip.

The token at the end of the keychain resembles a wrought iron gas lantern one might find hanging from one of the walls in the First District.

(Taenite - a mineral found in iron meteorites, derived from the Greek word for “band, ribbon”)

Virdandi - Norna Dómr

Virdandi’s keyblade materializes in a shower of silver sparks when she summons it.

This keyblade borrows heavily from design motifs found around her homeworld as well as the keyblades canonically held by Skuld and Urd, the third upgrade of Starlight and the default Dark Road Keyblade. The shaft of the blade in black most resembles Urd’s but with a large angular spike on top and two smaller curved spikes. The eight-point star that makes up the teeth and the comet-like trail that attaches it to the shaft most resembles that of Skuld’s keyblade.

The similarities to those two keyblades end at the top of Norna Dómr’s hilt guard, where the protruding wing-like spikes resemble that of Missing Ache’s third upgrade. An ornate and vaguely arrow-shaped embellishment connects the shaft to the keyblade’s turquoise handle, which is protected by a grey hilt guard that is open on one side.

The “keychain” is made of silver threads (meant to represent the threads of fate) woven together. The token is a grey heptagram or seven-pointed star with a filled blue center but hollow at the points. Seven-pointed stars have many meanings across a variety of cultures but in Virdandi’s case, it’s meant to be a reference to the seven alchemical substances: fire, water, air, earth, sulphur, salt, and mercury.

(Norna Dómr - means Judgment of the Nornir, typically means death as the Norns decided the destinies of humans)

Brandr - Firebrand

When Brandr summons his keyblade, it materializes in a burst of deep red flame.

In terms of overall shape, Brandr’s keyblade is most similar to Divewing and the many iterations of Ultima Weapon (more specifically the KH1, Birth By Sleep, and Dream Drop Distance versions) in that there is a very obvious sword-shaped base that the rest of the keyblade is built around. The shape of the blade base (and the handle as well) is based on that of a 9th century viking longsword. However, the runes on Firebrand are written in the in-universe Scalan text found in Kingdom Hearts 3. As no official translations have been provided yet, going by attempts by a fan project to translate the text on the blade literally just says “Firebrand”. (And if that translation ends up being wrong, at least it looks cool, right?)

The inner “teeth” of the keyblade that are attached to the sword are meant to resemble the arch-shaped railings at the top of the Scala ad Caelum clock tower. As you can imagine, the image of them wreathed in flame is disconcerting to those who live there so Brandr usually doesn’t summon his weapon while out in public in his homeworld.

The shape of the hilt resembles that of Gull Wing, except that the feathers that make up the guard on Firebrand are that of a phoenix and have been made into quills as evidenced by their ink-stained tips. The sword hilt/handle, on the other hand, more resembles that of Lionheart aside from the heavy pyramid-shaped pommel. The diamond pattern at the top of the hilt guard is taken from the engraved design on the clock tower arches.

The keychain is a plain gold chain but the token is a bit more complicated. The apple-shaped token is actually something like a heavy locket that covers the real token, a yellow and orange symbol with seven points. At the token’s center is the teal eye of the Master of Masters. This emblem that allows the keyblade master from the Age of Fairytales to see far into the distant future is the reason for the token’s concealment, as Brandr has figured out its true purpose (sorta) and has no intention of acting as someone’s unwitting spy.

Sophia - Paradigm Shift

Sophia’s keyblade materializes in a cloud of purple smoke. Its overall design borrows a lot of motifs from Radiant Garden's architecture, with a lot of sharp angles and a color palette consisting of purples, pinks, and blues.

The blade is wide with a short reach. The bottom half resembles the three-shaft design of the Fairy Stars keyblade (BBS) from the hilt up until they merge and form the base for the teeth. The simplistic design of the blade's lower half contrasts sharply with the much more ornate top half like Spellbinder, another magic-focused keyblade. Two features of note are the delicate crystal in the center of the blade opposite the teeth and the set of interlocking gears on each side of the blade, both of which are inspired by elements from Radiant Garden's castle. The crystal glows faintly and can be used as a compass. The gears spin when Sophia charges up a spell.

By contrast, the hilt of the keyblade is much less busy. The only eye-catching adornments on the relatively simple frame of the hilt guard are the heart at the top of the hilt (another common Radiant Garden motif) and the sharp spikes on either side, meant to act as a deterrent for anyone foolish enough to try and snatch the weapon out of Sophia's hands.

Nemus - Rootstock

When Nemus summons his keyblade, it materializes with a flurry of green leaves.

Rootstock has a very clear tree/nature theme and celtic knotwork as a recurring design motif. The shaft is made up of entertwining strands of brown and bronze meant to resemble twisting roots with a golden border. Stray “roots” randomly poke out along the shaft and along the gold-lined “root tips” curved to vaguely resemble the shape of a heart as the keyblade’s teeth. The emblem at the top of the shaft is one of many seen around Scala ad Caelum, contrasting the symbol at the bottom of the hilt guard which is a stylized version of the Morpho Biotechnical Institute’s insignia.

The hilt of the keyblade is circular with a blue and gold base covered by a ring of twisting roots followed by a wreath of ivy leaves. The white handle at the center of the frame is reinforced by thin, elegant gold supports in the shape of roots—layered above the ring of brown and bronze but underneath the leaves.

Rootstock’s “keychain” is a brown leather cord tied up in a bow. The token attached to it is shaped like a dried Alkekengi/Chinese Lantern seed that looks heart-shaped at certain angles. Instead of the natural colors, it has a white outside/”cage” and a golden orb/”seed” within.

Sure! If I'm talking about Black and Grey, I might as well talk about White and Gray too. So, to preface this, in my AU Unova has two alternate universes, with the differences them mostly being the games' version differences, like one universe has White Forest and the other has Black City. Gates rarely open between the two universes, and scientists have been researching the phenomenon. They managed to create a function that should open the gate, but for unknown reasons fails to function. Fennel, who helped develop the X-Transceiver, decides to include a button on a few test models of the device that would open the gate, and hands it to a few trainers in hopes of one of them getting it to work.

Black and White are each others' alternate universe counterparts, and so are Grey and Gray. As some of the only people whose counterparts are different, they have the ability to open the gates with their X-Transceivers. They basically just use it to visit each other and check in on their journey, and seeing all the differences between their worlds.

That's the basics, now to talk about the actual characters! I've drawn their family trees before so here they are! Pics and character info behind the readmore since this got long!

So, Black and White's dad is Looker. (Emma's a character Looker meets in XY postgame, in case you haven't seen her. It's my AU and I decided he adopts her. In canon Looker disappears into another universe but by the time that happens his kid(s) are experts in dimensional travel and go get him back.)

Black and White are very different people. Black's a shy, awkward kid with social anxiety who can barely order in restaurants, but around his friends and online he's more confident and outspoken. His hobbies are gaming and music, and he's a mod at a chatroom Cheren started for their friend group. White, meanwhile, is confident and says whatever comes to mind, and prefers outdoor hobbies like hiking and biking. She's in her universe's version of Cheren's chatroom, but barely ever checks it, though she likes hearing Cheren and Bianca tell her what's been going on in there.

Finally, the character you actually wanted to hear about, Grey! Her and Gray's father is dead in both worlds, nobody talks about him, and everyone in the family is better off without him. That's all you need to know about him.

When they meet, Grey decides on "E" and "A" as their nicknames since their names are pronounced the same.

Grey's the type of person who seems to barrel through everything with the self-confidence of someone who always gets her way. She's constantly joking about everything, including her bisexuality, but usually avoids talking about anything serious about herself or her feelings, deflecting anything like that with more jokes. She does have the emotional maturity to notice if somebody's hurting and take things seriously to help them. However, she also has a bit of a short temper and may start fights to defend somebody, as well as think her way of helping someone is the only right way, so it may not always turn out well, but she tries her best.

Gray, on the other hand, is nervous and shaky, and has a hard time asserting himself even around his closest friends in fear of offending them. He's also got serious reoccurring short-term memory issues, and usually has to rely on his mom or his friend Hue for help. (Hue being Hugh's name in this AU because I wanted to make the color theme more obvious. His little sister's named Tint!) Also, unlike Grey, Gray has DID, and an alter named Nate who usualy comes out whenever Gray is in serious mental distress and needs somebody to just take over. Nate's more calm and collected than Gray, though still has the same memory issues, he's just more likely to make deadpan jokes about it. Nate usually makes his appearance obvious to others by putting on his visor and putting his hair up, looking more like his canon design.

I realized I didn't actually have any good pics of him outside paper drawings so I quickly whipped this up just now! DID is kind of a touchy subject since it gets misrepresented in media so much but I tried my best to research actual DID for my boys Gray and Nate... If I still get something horribly wrong with them at some point I hope someone will tell me.

✨ One Piece Timeskip Redesigns! ✨

My last art of 2020 went off with a bang! I’ve been working on these for a while and they’re finally ready to share. I thought it might be fun to concept designs for the crew with more influence from the islands they were sent to! They ended up a lil costume-y, but I like that too.

Read below for flavour text/design notes or just enjoy the art!

LUFFY: I wanted him to have “King of the Pirates” vibes! His hooded cape/mantle is inspired by the coats Shanks and Roger wore, but less cumbersome, mixed with the Kuja’s capes. The design on the back is Ace’s comedy/tragedy drama masks in the shape of Sabo’s goggles, inside angel wings. He can store things inside the sash. The golden snakes around his ankles can expand with him (the tail comes out of the mouth, like a bangle). The Kuja women made his clothes for him!

ZORO: Not a whole lot to say here except he forgot how normal people dressed while he was on Kuraigana LOL. His design is a mix of European and East Asian vampire lore and he just keeps... losin limbs lmao. With all his prominent scars he really does look undead!! This was the first design I came up with and it’s what made me want to do all the others!

NAMI: She’s a Weather Witch! The old men on Weatheria were scandalised by her short hair and tattoos so she... got shorter hair, and another tattoo. Her second tattoo is a four-pointed star inside a ship’s wheel/compass, to represent where she’s going, because her old tattoo represents where she came from. Her hair is also obviously inspired by Bellemere! Her suit is a swimsuit so she’s ready for any weather, and her hood opens up into a giant witch/rain hat. The moons on her shoes are skate-model wavers and can retract up around her ankles when she’s not using them. Combined with her (canon) “milky road” abilities, she can use them with her Clima-Tact to “fly” across clouds!

USOPP: He basically leveled-up in running away, so he kinda fights parkour-style now. His gloves and shoes are made by dipping his hands/feet in natural tree rubber sap so they give him excellent grip. He has little bands between his index & middle fingers he can use as slingshots in a pinch. He KEPT HIS ORIGINAL GOGGLES BECAUSE WHY WOULD HE ABANDON THEM, ODA?? even though he ahd to repair them a few times. The multiple watches keep track of the island’s time cycles and vibrate to alert him rather than make any sound. His coat of leaves provides camouflage, and he can also inflate it along with a birdcall whistle to look like a giant owl and scare off predators!

SANJI: What if Sanji went to Gender Island and realised all masculinity is performative so he came back a drag king I wanted to lean harder into his “waiter > chef” pre-TS design elements. His vest is backless and has more heart shapes at the back lmao. He leaves heart-shaped stamps on people when he kicks them

CHOPPER: Chopper was hard because I think his post-TS design is perfect already BUT! He got the little capelet and the feather from the people/birds of Torino kingdom. The swirls are from Hiluluk’s coat lapels! His doctor bag is actually a little backpack.

ROBIN: ............... ma’am She’s a fantasy/video-game-archeologist mixed with a sleek, modern super spy. She uses the harnesses to lift/hoist herself around by her own hands, using her devil fruit power instead of ropes, Mission Impossible style. She uses throwing knives even though her accuracy isn’t that great because she’s basically just gonna pick them up with one of her flower hands and stab the target close-range anyway.

FRANKY: I actually like that he’s a big messed up robo post-TS LMAO I just think he would love Vegapunk’s chimera designs. He’s sort of a griffon/manticore fusion with obvious inspiration from the Sunny, which he can probably mecha-fuse with somehow now. The paw pads can pop out of the gloves and act like smaller hands for more delicate stuff, just like his canon design. Robin is a big fan of squishing them. Gas from his cola chamber fuels powerful hydraulic attacks! (He can still do the nipple beam :/)

BROOK: Brook was hardest because I couldn’t change that much about his original design, but I lke the result! His skull cracked all the way through (probably excited groupies) so he welded it back together with gold (kintsugi). It can actually swing open like a purse, though, so he can store stuff in it, and his two gold teeth act as the clasp. His collar is an inverted violin, and his outfit is themed around ghost ships. The soles of his shoes are sabaody technology that make his foosteps silent. His cane-sword is now also a mic!

~Metal Family headcanons~

These are like my... general hcs)? which means I didn't include my main hc that Glam, Ches and Vicky are polyamorous, married and started dating after Glam met Vicky, and absolutely everything that implies for the kids and the relationships between each member of the fam. Maybe I'll make a separate post for that or maybe not! Who knows lkfwnlfqnf

Glam

Bisexual

Glam has constant nightmares and ocasional night terrors ever since he ran away home and is an active sleep walker. Ches helped him through the worse ones when they were younger, and learned how to deal with them, always preferring not to wake him up but being with him until the episode passed. Vicky has learned how to deal with them, though she normally asks Ches for advice with it cuz she comes out short sometimes.

He has PTSD. I bet it's diagnosed too, he takes medication and goes to therapy, it doesn't mean he still doesn't have his bad days anyway. He's trying to get better.

Glam has talked to Vicky about his past, his father and his family. This is a direct contradiction of Alina's confirmation that Glam doesn't talk about it with anyone but man FUCK THAT. We love good communication in this house, Vicky tries her best to help him, but there's only so much she can do to help.

Glam enjoys gardening, cooking and making models, he also likes doing his make up, painting his nails and dressing up in fancy, extravagant clothes even if he has nowhere important to go.

He likes taking care of everyone's hair, and constantly helps Vicky brush her hair cuz there's so much of it, Dee when he gets stressed over how tangled it can get, buys Ches hair products so he actually takes care of it, and chases Heavy so the kid actually washes, untangles and brushes his hair.

This one is kind of weird, but I refuse to think any adult in the family is unarmed at any time. Glam owns a taser and pepper spray. They're bright pink and sparkly.

This man cried his eyes out while watching Coco. He's hell to watch movies with cuz he talks and predicts what's gonna happen during the movie, judges them with scores at the end and all.

Vicky

Also bisexual!

Vicky's the one who does everyone's laundry most of the time. She prefers it that way since she's the only one that knows how to wash their black clothes so the colors stay vibrant. (This is based on my gf shaming everyone but Vicky cuz their black clothes always look so muted and almost gray, but Vicky's whole outfit is always the same vibrant black colors, so we decided that neither Glam or the kids know how to wash dark clothes)

She has anger issues, if it isn't obvious. I think she also has PTSD, mainly survivor's guilt due to her surviving the accident her brother died in. She blames herself and cannot bear to talk about it, in some sort of deep denial. If she can't remember, it can't hurt as much, right?

She has scars on the right side of her back and her hip, from the road rash she got on her brother's accident, she never treated it due to grief and it scarred badly. Apart from that, the scar of the caesarean section from Heavy's birth. She doesn't really mind both of them, they happened, nothing to do about them.

She likes watching boxing competitions, brawling matches and motorcycle repairing on TV. Loves doing BBQ's and going to the pool. Also an enjoyer of teasing her kids, kissing and loving her husband at random times, spending time drinking and bonding with Ches and bragging about her family and punching anyone who thinks they're not that cool.

Not particularly a fan of make up, skirts and dresses or any traditionally femenine-perceived stuff. But has been making exceptions due to Glam and Ches being unashamed of being seen as femenine, and actually rocking the looks. The internalized misogyny is kind of slowly dissapearing.

Apart from the guns she carries in each arm (I mean her biceps, have you looked at the size of those?? She strong) she has brass knuckles on her at all times. Glam gifts her new ones sometimes, she loves having multiple choices to punch people teeth in.

Loves horror, thrillers and action movies. Falls asleep during rom-coms and dramas. Ironically, loves gossip and talking shit about people. Enjoys hearing Ches talks about the gossip going on in the nursery home even if she doesn't know who the hell he's talking about.

Heavy

Heavy is a trans boy! He doesn't know his sexuality yet though, he's still figuring himself out. When he's older, i think he definitely dated some men but had better luck with girls.

Heavy has had innocent crushes on some girls on his class before, but they never turn into anything more cuz he's not the best at expressing himself. He follows the bother-the-girl-to-death-until-she-hates-you gimmick, and unsurprisingly, it doesn't work.

I'm sorry to break this to u but Heavy totally had an among us phase, and uses so much reddit and twitch slang... You know he does.

Likes bullying and teasing his brother to death. You know that when Dee had his first romance, Heavy was ALL up in his business being a tease and a bad attempt at a wingman. He means well tho.

He's not squeamish at all. Also has great pain resistance. This kid has picked cockroaches with his bare hands and loves cats, of course the cats have scratched him. He's tough!

Grows up to be the charming himbo he was always destined to be.

Dee

I hc him as demisexual. Kind of inherited his dad's tastes for the takes no crap, intimidating but pretty kind of people.

Can't cook. He tries but he can only do basics like rice, cereal, chicken nuggets or eggs. Complicated meals always burn or don't taste like anything at all. It drives him crazy.

Dee was a quiet and very well behaved toddler before Heavy was born. He never threw tantrums or got whims. After Heavy was born though, and despite the fact he understood his brother was small and needed special care, he started craving attention often and cried and got mad at little things. Typical jealousy of the oldest sibling.

The first time Dee fell in love with someone, he didn't recognize it was love at first. He just thought his interest on the person was born out of curiosity and aesthetic attraction, but as soon as he realized he seeked validation and companionship, that he liked seeing them smile, that he wanted to protect them, that he yearned for more time alone with them and that he wanted more than what just a simple friendship implied, it was an instant 'oh hell no'. He wanted those feelings to get the hell away, but unfortunately, they were there to stay.

Canonically likes MLP, psychological and horror anime like Death note and Hellsing, so I'm deciding he also watched Death Parade, had a FNAF phase, is very into The Walten Files. This guy enjoys any kind of specially dark ARG's and knows a ton of lore of real crime, unsolved cases, ghost appearances and other stuff. Doesn't believe in the supernatural, but sure is entertained by it.

He's a mess at romance. Flirting? His attempts at compliments are hardly flattering. Giving gifts? The best he can manage is jewelry and you can kind of tell he asked his dad for help. Dates? He's so nervous he's silent for most of it, but begins getting comfortable and having fun if his partner really knows how to get him down from his negativity cloud.

Ches

Pansexual.

He's very good with kids. He has the patience of a saint and he's laid-back, chill and fun but still is an authority figure who knows how to put limits. Sure, he's gonna let the kids light up a house on fire BUT hey, now they know everything about fire precautions, burns and how to treat them AND how to get away with arson. What an educational evening, am I right?

Due to certain info from the "Goodbye" official comic, I headcanon Ches as depressed. I don't want to elaborate a lot 'cuz of spoilers, but... God, everything related to his mom fucking hurts, man. How did he deal with all that?

Ches has been Dee and Heavy's babysitter so many times he cannot count them with all his fingers. He learned how to put those kids to sleep almost immediately (Sing Bon Jovi's "This ain't a love song" and any cheesy love song in a slow lullaby style and they're out), which movie were their favorite as kids (Heavy loved 'Monsters Inc.' and Dee never looked away during 'Meet the Robinsons'), how to console them after nightmares (Heavy needed reassurance, sweet words, and to be with someone until he fell asleep again. Dee just had to be tucked in, get his nightlight turned on and kissed in the forehead). He practically raised those kids along with Vicky and Glam.

More than once, Dee and Heavy have slipped and called Ches "Dad". Ches immediately gets his shit eating grin on and answers "Yes, son?" and does a couple of dad jokes just to mess and embarrass them. He's actually very flattered and surprised at how proud of himself he is for being a father figure to both kids.

Has a scar on the left side of his forehead due to a bottle his mom threw at him when he was younger, around the time he met Glam. He hates the scar with passion, it's a permanent reminder of the fact she never cared, that's why he always keeps it covered with his headband. Gets sad about it sometimes.

Ches likes to spend his time with a group of grannies of the nearby nursing home. He genuinely considers them his friends and gossips and hangs out with all of them on weekends. Bingo, billiards, walks in the park, soap opera marathons, you name it. I even designed them, gave them names and backstories... God, i just love the concept too much. I'll make some art about Ches and his granny gang FOR SURE, you're NOT ready for them.

Carries a pocket knife on him at all times. This man grew up on a bad neighborhood and absolutely knows how to defend himself, he can be intimidating when he wants to be and will pose a threat if needed. He's fucking terrifying when genuinely mad. Just cause he looks harmless doesn't mean he is, darling.

I find it kind of odd that there isn’t more disabled [VLD] Lotor content. Mostly because he’s a pretty popular character who’s been analyzed a lot and there are so many works about his childhood and life pre-events of the show so you’d think it might come up a lil bit more than it does. While the answer is probably the obvious “the show itself doesn’t handle it’s canonically disabled characters very well” + “in fandom disabled creators are usually the majority of the people making that kind of stuff,” I feel like the way he’s presented, while not enough to say its canon 100%, could still make for a headcanon that could be backed up.

[okie so two things before we get to your irregularly scheduled ramble: 1 there will be a paragraph or two where ableism within Galran society is discussed. It’s not the entirety of the post so I’m not going to tag it, but I leave this here as a content warning instead. And 2 this was originally written about potentially hypermobile/HSD Lotor, but has been expanded to include chronic pain & fatigue so if it seems like this is skewing a bit in a certain direction, that’s why]

Okie so both appearing to be and physically being strong are pretty important in Galran society (specifically among nobility and the military; we only see ~2 civilians so it’s hard to come to any conclusions on that side). It’s visible in things like the Kral Zera, where the strongest wins regardless of faction or bloodline, and the type of armor we see some of the higher ranking Galra wear: large and bulky, with some having what looks like false eyes decorating their breastplates.

And this sort of mindset even translates to prosthetics. The prosthetic limbs we see on Galra all double as weapons. Even Shiro, who was a prisoner, is given a prosthetic with a “danger” hand, even when he seemed to be getting by well enough in the arena with a regular weapon.

For any physical disabilities, just get an upgrade. Lose an arm? You can get a new arm with a laser cannon and big grabby claw. Lose an eye? Get a new eye that can measure distance and read heat signatures. The loss of body parts isn’t something viewed as inherently bad for those who have access to high tech replacements. That’s not to say negative attitudes or discrimination don’t exist, but within the bubble of military personnel, it would probably be more of the “oh, I see you still have last year’s model” or “I see you couldn’t get an appointment with the druids, what a shame” type stuff. Like how when Sendak invades the castle and says to Shiro something along the lines of “I see you’ve been to the druids, so have I, but my arm is better.”

Which leaves some implications for how disabilities you can’t see are viewed. It’s not like you could just buy a new nervous system or replace all the tendons in your body with new ones. You can’t just “train harder” to get rid of a chronic condition.

So here’s the part y’all came here for: ways Lotor could be viewed as a stealth spoonie.

Armor

Lotor is always in armor. Most of the prominent characters get at least one alternate outfit at some point, yet we see from flashbacks that he’s apparently been wearing the same thing for thousands of years. But if he designed it himself, who’s to say he couldn’t add some joint support while he’s at it?

flight suit - things like compression gloves, hip support, shoulder support could be integrated into the design pretty easily, with any external straps being hidden under his breastplate or waist cape

knee caps - pretty standard for armor, but could also serve double duty in preventing the knee from bending too far forward

vambraces - these are pretty thick, covering the wrist and extending up the hand. It seems kind of impractical to have armor that obstructs your hand’s range of motion unless that’s the point.

The shoulder thing

is it just being double jointed? - the wiki says yes, but it doesn’t provide a source

when I first wrote this down, I was looking for a clip of this scene because I couldn’t remember and found a video where someone who was double jointed recreated the movement. I can’t find it now to link it so this is a bit of a “trust me” point but I made some notes. In terms of cracking noises, both had about the same, with the person having a little less. However, it was in a comment replying to someone where they stated that it didn’t hurt. Meanwhile, Lotor seems to be in pain, albeit handling it pretty well, which makes this seem like more than just flexibility.

with arms bound like that, most people would try to go for pulling their arms under their body. But if Lotor was used to his joints dislocating, it makes sense why he wouldn’t see doing that as a big deal. They do that all the time, he knows how much pain it will be, and he knows how to put them back

Rest, disguised

Wasn’t sure what to call this bit, but I almost titled it “siting” so it could be worse. prompted by this image from season 2 episode 3:

Lotor rests/conserves energy in ways that don’t look like it from the outside. He doesn’t pace his cell on the castle, he sits, presenting a calm yet contemplative image. In this screencap, he is the only one sitting despite all of them coming back from invading a planet. From the outside, it just looks like a reminder of authority.

Summary - kinda idk

Lotor chooses his actions and how he presents himself carefully. He wears a mask most of the time, even to the point where his generals, which are arguably the closest people to him, barely know him. It’s better that way.

Even being a prince doesn’t protect him from what others were already saying about him. He’s heard every way he’s “weak” since he was a child, and he can’t let them have anything else that could be used against him.

So he adapts, and hides it. Supports mixed with armor, resting without anyone knowing. He is strong, but he is always aware of how much energy things take. He’s tried doing things the Galra way, but brute force isn’t sustainable for him. His father might not approve of his methods, but it works.

Flying is freeing; one of the rare times he doesn’t have to adapt or pretend.

Final notes

Hope the way I explained things didn’t get too confusing near the end. My rambles are all over the place and even when I try to organize them it can be tricky. I’m aware most of this stuff isn’t that deep, mostly details that weren’t meant to be looked into that much.

I guess my point with this is that it surprises me that with how much people look into this character, this interpretation doesn’t really come around a lot. [basically what I said in the very first paragraph]

It’s probably for the best that canon chronically ill Lotor isn’t canon though, because with the way the show treated both him and it’s disabled characters it probably wouldn’t have gone very well.

I have read a few fics with disabled Lotor post getting-fished-out-of-the-rift but I haven’t been able to find much outside of that [though it is possible I missed them as there are many fics and not everyone tags things the same way]

I am getting incoherent I need to call it quits. If I had to make this post one sentence it would be: there should be more spoonie Lotor imo.

Probs could have just said that from the start but I found a screencap for one of my points and was very excited to use it.

Does anyone else think Conjurer should be a Vortixx? He and the Shadowed One look the part, but unlike TSO, Conjurer doesn’t have a tail, which is more in line with Roodaka’s species. I know Greg acknowledged and explained this discrepancy as TSO removing Conjurer’s tail as a punishment, but tbh I think it’s simpler to just say he’s a Vortixx.

I get that since Roodaka was our first and basically only representation of a Vortixx, everyone is tempted to see all other Vortixx in relation to her; Assume that Roodaka is a perfect representative of her species. But to be honest I find that kind of limiting and silly an assumption for worldbuilding, that all Vortixx must be characterized based on what we know of Roodaka as a sexy lizard dominatrix, hence all of them looking like her with the prominent Rahkshi boobs and hair, the Pohatu Nuva claw butt, and the women being scheming and dominant; An obvious reference to Roodaka’s, erm, characterization. It’s way more realistic that Roodaka is her own individual who doesn’t necessarily reflect her species as a whole, thus accommodating room for a hypothetical individual like Conjurer who isn’t all... that.

Humans, as well as the Toa and Matoran, aren’t so uniform; Why should the other species be? You see this problem in Krekka and Sidorak’s species too; Krekka is a dumb brute so all of his kind is. Sidorak is a scheming aristocrat so all of his kind is... Though in his case I feel there’s at least the implied cultural background to justify that, plus at least some members of his species are just regular ship merchants. As a means of worldbuilding it’s admittedly kind of reductive, relying on these stereotypes; I think it works for some species like the Skakdi, who we were introduced via multiple members at once (thereby solidifying this as a societal and not an individual case), but still. This trope works in moderation but afterwards can get pretty old.

Also, Conjurer even has a rhotuka launcher in his hand and asymmetrical, prominent claws; Like Roodaka! He doesn’t need to be a sexy lizard dominatrix just to be a Vortixx is what I’m saying, especially since that’s the most straightforward and sensible answer as to what he is. And a case could be made for TSO being a Vortixx too; He’s got the black Vahki head, same type of eyes as Roodaka... Silver rahkshi heads on his chest, the same silver triangle for a codpiece, even similar legs; I don’t know if the designer made TSO with any story idea in mind, or if they just mashed together Keetongu and Roodaka’s sets and left it open for Greg to interpret... But tbh, TSO really does look like a Vortixx, moreso than he resembles Ancient or Tyrant, who are actual canon members of his species. I have to wonder if his designer made the combiner model with the inclination towards it being a decked-out Roodaka or fellow Vortixx, but it was Greg who went with his own direction.

dick grayson x gender neutral reader. 813 words. notes: requested by the always lovely @magicalbeanie as part of my hundred followers celebration! thanks so much, i really hope this lives up to expectations 💖💖 warnings: vague descriptions of canon-typical wounds, talk of blood.

you could feel his eyes on you. watching as you moved around your living room, tidying up in a vain attempt to outrun the weight of the night. the feeling of his well-being in your hands, his faith in you on your shoulders, the hisses and grunts of pain echoing in your ears.

"what's wrong?" he finally asked. his voice was soft now, gentle, caring, and if it weren't for the fact that you could still smell the alcohol you had used on his wounds you would never have guessed he was in pain.

the ease with which he hid it- tucked away the harsh edges and smoothed out the wrinkles in his facade- it turned every ounce of anxiety and concern in your body into something fierce and protective and angry.

"what's wr- dick, what the hell?" incredulity was dripping from your voice as you whirled on your heel to face him. "maybe the part where you look like you got hit by a bus? or the part where there's been blood under my nails for like an hour now and i still can't get it out? or maybe, just maybe! maybe having my closest friend in the world, one of my favorite people on the planet, come fumbling through my window at one in the goddamn morning battered and bruised and with bags under his eyes bright enough to be designer was a little alarming!"

he grimaced.

you lowered your voice slightly, trying not to let the entire building know that the mighty nightwing was nursing his wounds on your couch. "maybe some of us aren't used to washing supersuits that are soaked, absolutely squishy with a human being's life juice!"

a quick laugh escaped him, but he scrambled to cover it with a small cough, nodding solemnly.

"just..." you deflated with a sigh and pinched the bridge of your nose, the fight draining from your body in a sudden rush and leaving you shaky and cold and extremely tired. "why me?"

"what do you mean?"

"why come here? why come to me?"

his brow furrowed slightly. "i knew i'd be safe," he said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

you scoffed, trying to ignore the way his eyes were softening- the way they were melting your heart in the process. "so you picked the closest person that wouldn't shoot you for bleeding on their carpet."

"no, i mean- well, yeah, that too." he paused for a moment, voice warm and melodic in a way that was so painfully him that it made your hands ache for his. "but i came here because i knew i would feel safe. i don't have to wear a mask here, literally or figuratively."

"oh, right, because you're totally not hiding the fact that you're in a world of pain right now, right this instant, literally as we sp-"

"okay, okay!" he laughed softly, hands up in surrender. "but i'm not doing it because i have to. i don't have to be bruce wayne's son, or the top of the class in sidekick 101, or the leader with all the answers- i can just be dick." he paused again, smile morphing into a sheepish grin. "i can be dick with only a tiny mask. a bandaid, really, more than a mask."

the weight of that confession settled onto you, sank into your bones.

the man that saved everyone (up to and including batman himself) was sitting on your couch in old, worn sweatpants and a t-shirt several sizes too large for him, looking like a model that had gotten in a fistfight with a garbage disposal and lost and then taken that out on a brick wall, admitting that he felt safe with you.

and smiling at you like he meant it.

in that brief moment, you felt something shift. your emotions settled into neat, tiny, easily understandable cubes for just a second, creating a bright pink mosaic in your mind that told the story of a young man with the weight of two cities on his shoulders and the friend that fell way too deep way too fast and wanted nothing more than to take the burden from the sweet atlas with blue wings on his chest.

it wasn't a surprise, the way love burst in your chest and spread through your body and coated every memory of him.

what was a surprise was when the hero rose from the couch and gingerly moved into your space, close enough to touch, close enough to hear his breathing.

"i don't feel like i have to be anyone or anything else around you."

and with that one sentence, he put the final nail in your coffin and you accepted that you would move heaven and earth and clean blood out of your furniture for him for as long as he'd let you.

Idk if it is my old butt, but none of us were like this back when we read lemon as minors.

Speaking for myself, I was aware of what I was reading, as 16 years old Is a common age to experience sexual desire. And what a best way to quell that need, if reading about your favourite character? Something that is not real and can be modelled to your very specifications. Looking back now, now Adult me can difference a piece wrote by a minor vs one of an adult; is quite obvious with the implemented theme and... this does not apply to everyone, but the grammar is also a big indicator.

It baffles me how much of a sharp, left turn people have done in the last years. The amount of characters that were aged up (yes, that is something that have been existing for a lot of years) even as the author was a minor themself... speaks how little importance this new "This is character is a minor, hence you can't write about them" policy.

I am aware of some of those minors are acting like that due to proclamed grooming... but they aren't entitled to judge everyone as if they are predator/groomers. They choose to see everyone in a bad light rather than be calm and give them the benefit of the doubt (because as many good people are out there, so are the ones who actually do bad stuff) but they are only making the good people rethink they behaviour and, after seeing how those supposed groomed minors act, me, As an adult, really don't want to interact with someone who likes to point their finger and refuses to see and respect the others. And that response from us (that, actually, is pretty common. The same thing parents do to their kids, grounding them because the parent is aware that the kid won't listen and isn't seeing the reason behind the punishment... when is deserved, of course. Teenagers choose to see that as a challenge and try to push harder against a non-existent enemy.

And that Idia user is just proving that this policy is stupid; speaking of committing such act just because your very fake, very flexible character isn't the same age as you and you won't acknowledge your previous statements because that would mean you were an hypocrite... yeah, very stupid.

Characters are made with that young look because that is what sells; youth is far more wanted than seniority. If It weren't because the author wanted to put an age, all characters can be +30, we won't be none the wiser because that's how a great deal of them (characters) are designed to be.

You depict the character that you love as an equal in terms of age because, personally, I want them to be +24 just like me. When I was 18, I imagined the characters the same age as me and so on.

Well, I could speak more but every time my mind turns into a mush because like every other topic, it is not a black-and-white one, but a big scale of grays, so this small rant will turn into an essay if I proceed haha. I hope that I have, at least, made my point and reached you as I intended.

Season 4, Episode 17 - Larme Ultime (Rocketear)

So this is a DjiWifi episode from which comes a screenshot I've seen over a month ago (I think). It's good they got it, before season 4 started I really wanted it to happen and to see a kiss between Nino and Alya in it (but that didn't happen and I don't get why, only the main pairing is allowed to kiss in this show or what?), but now I could not be excited about it anymore, because I'm sick of Alya and I'm not able to hide it. Yes, I'm biased, but I'm just a normal viewer and I have right to dislike her favouritism.

My the biggest thought after watching this is that it looks like since Optigami, Alya is not only a deuteragonist, like I said in my post about Sentibubbler, she's actually more like a co-protagonist now. That was an extremely Alya-centric episode (even more than Lie was was about Adrien, as it was mostly Ladybug who saved the world like almost always, also because Chat sacrificed himself again), while in Optigami and this one she has screentime comparable to Marinette. I'm still trying to avoid spoilers (so please, don't tell what's going to happen in the next episodes, I don't want to know), but I'm sure that either 15 or 16 is also highly about her, because we've seen the new Rena's suit in this episode and it looked like it wasn't the first episode with it. But really, I won't be surprised if Alya has lots of screentime in both episodes and all others to the end of the show as well. I don't think Adrien is ever going to get as much special treatment like Alya. :/ The creators have never been as nice to him.

Didn't the writes have enough ideas for another story arcs? And thanks to it they were able to save money, because then creators could just reuse old models of villains more than before. Have anyone noticed that S4 has even fewer number of completely new characters than previous seasons? The scientist seen at the start of the episode has detailed model, so she had to be akumatised in any of the previous unreleased episodes (or one of the next ones). And why she looks a lot like Alya, is she her relative? If yes, you know what that means? Another excuse to make an episode full of the fox wielder, because, you know, it’s not like she already got enough occasions to shine in S4.

Speaking of Rena Rouge's new suit. What a waste, it would be great for a potential chameleon Miraculous, so it seems it won't be ever created for canon. So bad, I think it's one of the coolest animal, so a Miraculous based on it would be awesome. It could one from an African Miracle Box which should appear, since they are planning making an African special. The suit is good and all, but I still feel disappointed that it's not the superpower of a chameleon Miraculous. :(

Why is Nino acting over the top out of nowhere? I like film noir atmosphere, fedoras and especially jazz music full of saxophones (my favourite music genre and instrument), but it looks totally ridiculous when he's like that. I thought it's Marinette's speciality, and he beat her in that category. I'm not trying to say it's a a bad thing, it just feels weird seeing Nino like that. And since I love jazz, I would like to listen to that film noir-esque music more once I got 5.1 audio, since it was hardly heard in the episode. It didn't sound much interesting, but it's too early to judge it seriously.

Too bad they had written the main conflict in the episode using one of the biggest romantic cliche - misunderstanding in which one character see and\or hear something, but not the whole thing, so said character interprets it wrong. Motifs like that are rather annoying, so it's good something similar haven't happened in the Love Square's arc (yet at least). Though I have a big issue with how they write it this season and I'm going to make a post about it (is anyone interested?).

The akuma is one the ugliest and has one of the most laziest power ever. Really? He shoots using tear bullets and does nothing more? I know many people hate Bubbler's design, but no matter how silly it looks, it was much more creative than this.

And of course the whole thing with Alya remembering the whole conversation with Chat Noir was extremely far-fetched. The could think about something more believable, but I'm not surprised it happened, since I think this season is generally more lazy written than previous ones.

On the other hand, I'm surprised that Marinette is actually aware that Shadow Moth should not know that Alya is still Rena Rouge. It seems that the whole episode 15 (or 16) is about they trying to figure out what to do with that problem. I won't be surprised if Alya would do it all by herself like it happened with protecting charms in Mr Pigeon 72, because it's completely normal that a random person who has never met Fu is better at decrypting the grimoire than someone who has been trained to be a guardian to some extend :/ Still I think they should not be sure that camouflage mode would solve the problem completely. From what I understand the new suit doesn’t make her completely invisible to others. Rena could be seen by anyone who takes a photo of her and then post in on the internet (it won't be believable that she's the only one crazy about superheroes in Paris). But at least they tried to do something and Marinette sees the danger to some extend. It’s something new.

It's not like Alya is careful, she's completely reckless (and they think she's a good reporter material? Don't make me laugh) and she still thinks more about her own fun in being the superheroine than safety of herself or the world. But of course, it's not gonna happen, because plot armor is very strong in this show. I really had a feeling that she acted like a little child in the first minutes of the episode. She's unable to see that her situation is not a joke. She should be all happy that Marinette still lets her to keep the fox Miraculous. She really lacks humility and I see it clearly since Optigami at least. Besides, Marinette ignores another red flags, that Alya is taking pictures of herself in the new suit no one is supposed to see and thinking about posting them on Ladyblog (was Bunnix right that Alya is able to reveal Miraculous secrets on her blog because of her overenthusiasm and lack of ability of seeing consequences of her actions?).

By the way, now I think, if Alya can't keep in secret that she's still Rena Rouge from Nino (which happens because it's needed for the plot), so how could she be all fine with keeping in secret other facts like that Ladybug gave her the fox permanently and she knows her identity (which isn't happening because the plot doesn't require it)? She still has to lie on Nino because of these secrets.

They are making Marinette a big hypocrite this season. Since she revealed herself to Alya, it's been shown that secret identities rule was bullshit from the start, but Marinette is still saying that heroes can't reveal their identities to anyone. What? What has she done before like not revealing herself to someone, so how she dares keep saying about how crucial is keeping secrets from everyone? Sorry writers, I can't take that rule seriously anymore since Alya knows and no one should. Because Marinette told Alya, she could tell it to other persons she trust as well. What's the difference between her best friend and the rest of the people in the world? Is Alya the only person she trusts? In fact, revealing herself to Sabine, for example, would be much better choice. She's actually wise and mature unlike Alya and her secrets would be much more safe with her mother.

I've seen Chat Blanc again on TV recently and I remembered one thing Ladybug told to Bunnix there: "The best-kept secrets are the ones you never share." (Google Translate says that the line is exactly the same in the French original). Some episodes later, she isn't thinking twice if she should tell all the guardian secrets to Alya. Okay, she revealed her identity because of being too emotional in that exact moment, but then when she calmed down, she should be able to think if telling all the Miraculous secrets is a good idea. The other hypocritical thing is telling Chloé "you can't be Queen Bee anymore, because Hawk Moth knows your identity" but still calling the other heroes whose identities have been exposed.

So I can't even blame Alya for telling Nino the truth if the guardian herself is not following her own rules. Not to mention, Marinette doesn't address wrong things Alya is doing at all, so no wonder she feels she could do anything, she won't get punished, no matter what. After all, it's not the first moment in which she does something her best friend forbid her.

And we can say the show has been confirmed that Nino is even worse at keeping secrets, especially in crisis situations, so why people wanted to see Adrien revealing himself to Nino? It's obvious that he would tell Adrien's secret to Alya and maybe some other people as well.

I thought that since S3 finale Adrien is supposed to know identities of every backup hero from seasons 2 and 3 and I was ready to be salty about that as well. But yes, actually after purification of Miracle Queen's akuma, brainwashed heroes didn't detransform. They were forgotten completely and we don't even know what happened with them exactly. I suppose Ladybug took their Miraculous when Chat Noir wasn't there anymore.

Adrien has every right to be angry at Ladybug, she treats him so badly, since Alya knows her own secrets and she doesn't even have the guts to admit that. But I'm going to say about my the biggest issue in the Chat Noir and Ladybug's situation in another post, I hope I would write before the next episode airs.

But yeah! She'll never look like her canon self, simply because there are elements to her design that are unable to be made in-game. It's things like being buff - she does have curves and tiddies, but she's also got wide shoulders and arms a lot bigger than what she has in game, as well as no freaking thigh gap, because she's a warrior and not a model; scars, which are extensive and yeah, hair length.

I have suspended disbelief because it's a video game, but like, I would very much like to one day have, possibly by my own hand too, a Nyra body ref that will encompass these elements.

This kind of thing runs for most of my beebs, she's just the most obvious example of it 😊 This is literally no shade at Anet, their CC is amazing and I love it so much, they can't cater to me and me specifically about this one (1) OC, so my imagination is what's up

rating most of king dedede’s appearances in kirby media part 1 (1992-2010)

disclaimer: this is my opinion, i would love to know everyone elses opinion too

1. kirby’s dreamland and kirby’s adventure

I love kirby’s dreamland sprites. They are just all so perfect and small. A really good usage of the limited pixels the GB sprite team was given 8/10

I don’t know if this is because it was a scan or what but. where are his trousers. 4/10 got that early games manual look

yet again, dick out, ugly ass line on his shoes. his mouth??? the lack of gloves is just really obvious here + im just not a fan of the ahegao face. 2/10 i hate it.

I know they had limited colours but he just looks so muddy. 6/10 because they’re the same as kirby’s dreamland

2. kirby’s pinball land

YES. they are similar to kirby’s dreamland but MORE. 8/10

3. kirby’s dream course

much better with the colours but yet again no trousers. he also looks like he’s offering kirby a syringe 4/10

4. kirby’s block ball

same/similar sprites to pinball land but something about them feels wrong. 5/10

judging the dedede at the top here. he looks like he’s trying his best. for the friendly smile and thumbs up he gets 6/10

5. kirby’s avalanche

i just... i dont know how to feel about this one. he feels like hes been drawn in a different artstyle to kirby and the yellow is bad and his shading is bad. what’s with the arm placement. why is his chest yellow. 2/10

an absolute embarassment -1/10

5. kirby’s dreamland 2

wonderful. he looks so sleepy. 9/10

still no trousers and weirdly detailed hands. but. there’s a certain je ne sais quoi to his face and posture. it just works. 7/10

6. kirby super star

there’s just something lovely about these sprites that i can’t put my finger on. maybe its the :D. 8/10. points reduced for the colours

7. kirby’s dreamland 3

i have a love hate relationship with kirbys dreamland 3. the sprites? exquisite. the backgrounds and stage design? hatred. looks muddled. however, i am here to rate dedede appearances, and in kd3? incredible. what a kind, soft and wonderful design. 10/10 tuck me in to bed

they were just so absolutely correct with these that the lack of trousers doesnt even register. 10/10 i just am in love with his face.

8. kirby 64: the crystal shards

this right here? peak. absolute peak. he didn’t need trousers. he didnt need gloves. he didnt need shit. the perfect amount of rotundness paired with a little buff, not to mention the face? exquisite. 100/10

just when you thought it couldn’t get any better the renders show up. there are no words. 101/10

9. kirby tilt n tumble

10. kirby right back at ya (i am so biased)

i just love him in the show. his characterisation though not canon now worked so well. i would love to see a reboot where we see him go from bbeg to adoptive father funnyman. that said. 9/10 for the drawn portions of the show, 5/10 for the model. it looked like shit but it was 2001.

i take great joy in how expressive he can be. 9/10

11. kirby nightmare in dreamland/squeek squad/amazing mirror

a perfect middle ground. perfect balance of colour and shading. nightmare in dreamland is a wonderful remake of kirby’s adventure and i enjoyed the sprites just as much too. 8/10 he also has trousers, undershirt and gloves now.

what a kind, polite gentleman. i want to squish him, his flesh looks really malleable. perfectly rotund. he lacks the dedede edge and for that i’ll have to minus a point, but i adore this graphic with all my heart. 9/10

i dont like this one. bad proportions. 4/10

12. kirby air ride

the wiki was really lacking kirby air ride model images, which is a shame because i adore this model. just angry enough to have that dedede feel. excellent eye placement (you’ll see what i mean with later models). overall good design. I do feel like the colours are a little dull, but honestly a really nice job 8/10

13. kirby canvas curse

go girl give us nothing. reminds me of shitty flash animation. 4/10

14. kirby super star ultra aka one of the best kirby games

MAGNIFIQUE. all the visuals in kirby super star ultra were on point. my absolute favourite of the 2000s kirby games 10/10

does anyone remember the cutscenes. i love the cutscenes.

15. kirby’s epic yarn

i feel like this might be controversial, and i hate saying it because epic yarn is one of my absolute favourite kirby games, but i just dont like his design that much. 5/10

HOWEVER. this is excellent 20/10
