:3 again sorry for asking so much but 1010 what do you when you're S/O's are sick? (In In Eloni, Haym and Purl Hew's case what if both of them are sick?)

No worries! And it depends on the sickness. An average cold is going to be a lot different from a life threatening illness. I'll go with the common cold one since that's the usual one people default to when asking about sick headcanons I think.

Rin was a medical bot in the war and still retains a lot of that knowledge, so it would be very well prepared to take care of Zuke. A bit too well prepared. Zuke is the type to just sleep a lot while sick, and not eat much. So Rin is more of a bother, trying to make sure Zuke gets the proper amount of water, fresh air, vitamins, and food in him. Zuke appreciates it but really just wants to be left alone while sick. He does get better quicker though, especially since Rin changes his sheets and bedding everyday before Zuke goes to sleep so the germs from the previous sleep are gone.

Purl on the other hand is not as nice and gentle. They are more of a suck it up, shut up, and sleep kind of carer. They will force West and/or Cyril to take medicine and sleep. Especially Cyril who usually wants to be up and active, even if he is so sick he is almost passing out. If both of them are sick then Purl will visit both if they are in separate places, or just invite them to Barraca Mansion to get better. Cyril is definitely a playful asshole to Purl while West keeps asking for more stupid shit he doesn't need, and doesn't get most of the time. The two are just happily annoying and teasing Purl. Thankfully Purl doesn't mind too much, and will snap back comebacks and stuff at the two, but in the end it usually just ends up with Purl sleeping between two sick idiots.

Zimelu is very clingy emotionally and worried about Celine. Not a lot of touching as Zimelu doesn't like to touch a lot, but will hold Celine's hand or rest the back of her hand on Celine's forehead for as long as she is asked to. At one point she might just look up Celine's symptoms while Celine is sleeping at some point and then have a small freak out just for a sick and tired Celine to try and calm her down. Other than that, Zimelu just listens to Celine and gets her what she needs and just offers to do extra things or get snacks/presents to make her feel better. Which all Celine wants to do is lay on the couch and listen to shows while Zimelu comments on stuff about it as she has her eyes closed.

Haym is not dating Eve, only Mayday. May is dating both Eve and Haym, but either way, that won't stop Haym from making them their favorite foods when they are sick and making sure they eat a lot. He'd probably try to drag them outside for a walk or to sit out in the sun, while both are just trying to rest. May would be more welcome to the fresh air while Eve ends up having to grab Haym's face and make him look at her while she tells him directly she just wants to sleep (he would then carry her back to bed and tuck her in). Haym has good intentions but just messes up on delivery a lot of the time. The best thing he is good for in this situation is making Eve and May laugh along with making sure they eat well.

Eloni probably doesn't take care of their partners that much. Both Barbara and Joey are pretty self sufficient and won't really be asking for much. Eloni would definitely be there at a moments notice if they did ask though. He'd probably bring a care package and a gift he knows they like. Clean up around their house and do some chores they can't do or finish because of being sick. If they are both sick at the same time then Eloni would visit them each in their respective homes (Joey still lives with his family and Barbara is in a single apartment, the three are planning on moving in together one day), and take care of them each for a few hours. Eloni would have to basically force Barbara and Joey to relax whenever she did go over there though, since I see the two as working from home while sick a lot.

So yeah! 1010 would be very thoughtful of their SOs and try to take care of them so they get better faster.

Bruce pinched the bridge of his nose, taking a deep breath. In for ten seconds, out for eight. Alright. Okay. “Let me get this straight,” he didn’t motion to the three teens- or not teens even if two apparently looked like they were- but it was a close thing. “You-”

Phantom perked up, white hair flickering with what he was pretty sure were stars as they turned away from the window looking out into space. “-are two years old.” The fae-esque being who looked more like a fourteen year old gave a half-distracted nod. Which, for a toddler, they were paying attention pretty well.

“You-” Klarion looked up from where he was fiddling with the cuffs that had been on him, cat sprawled on his shoulder now that it was out of the carrier. “-are six?” Another distracted nod, the apparently-child seemingly enamored with the sounds the cuffs made when they clinked together.

“And you-” He turned towards Marvel, who shrank back before seemingly steeling themself. “-are in fact ten.” The… well they had thought demigod but apparently all three were some sort of realms-being, which had apparently made Constantine pale and start cursing before stomping out of the Watchtower. Another nod and shaky thumbs up.

Alright. Okay. They had in fact let a ten-year old join the league, which wouldn’t have been so bad if they had known. Especially the fact that apparently Marvel was only half-human, which suddenly explained so much about how he didn’t know so many things about a human life. Which-

“You,” he turned towards Phantom again to make sure he was listening before returning his attention to Marvel. “And you have both lived at least a year in the human realm with human companions, but your-” He turned his gaze towards the ravenette in the center. The six year old apparently. “-experience with the human realm is literally just with the Light.”

Yet another distracted nod. Okay. Bruce was tempted to scream in a room for the entire situation that had cropped up from the single action of taking Klarion’s familiar and then the boy himself into custody. Then again, it was honestly a much better thing they had apparently caught this.

“Alright,” he sighed, suddenly feeling incredibly exhausted. “To make sure I have all of this correct-” Because it was already a shitshow and the amount of shouting had absolutely spooked the child. To the point he’d- according to Marvel- made what was apparently some sort of very distressed noise that had made both him and Phantom running. Or rather flying and portaling.

“-in the realms, people there make friends through fighting,” Bruce pauses to make sure he got that part correct. The origin of this entire misunderstanding with the chaos-lord. Lordling?

All three nodded, Klarion losing interest in the cuffs and starting to pet his cat. Familiar. Everyone had referred to it as a familiar and Marvel had appeared utterly horrified that they had taken said familiar away. Somehow he was the one the trio were currently trusting and weren’t doing the same towards any of the other league members.

“And you have been trying to make friends with the Jr team, which they have been taking as an attack due to this miscommunication.” Honestly they should have gotten more information, though he couldn’t exactly blame any of the teens, what with everything they were currently dealing with.

“... is there any sort of guardian or something you might have, that can be contacted? Or anyone that could help prevent a situation like this from happening again?” All three avoided his eyes, suddenly finding things like the table and walls very interesting.

Oh. Hm. This could be a problem.

I haven't seen any posts about this yet but l've seen some fan art that makes me feel this needs to be said:

Don't forget Leah Sava Jeffries has darker skin when making Annabeth Chase fan art!

She is much closer to Lupita Nyong'o than Zoe Kravitz when it comes to shading, reflection, and complementary color usage :).

Lighting for dark skin is different on light skin. Light skin gets changed by lighting, and dark skin reflects the lighting. Below is a lovely shot of Nyong'o's character from Wakanda Forever in mourning. The filmmakers emphasize the umber qualities of her skin in contrast to the funereal white and (arguably harsh) light across her shoulder below.

Try to pick spots that aren't directly in or near the light, and try mixing 3 or more! You can put it into a color mixer online, or even color pick, lower the opacity, and lay the shades over each other until you find one that fits. And of course, the more 'realistic' you want to go with shading and lighting, the more shades you're going to want to be able to explore vivaciously :D.

Let's take a look at the same 3 beautiful actresses I mentioned at the beginning, with a bad color picked area and a better-ish color picked area. (Please keep in mind, these are not perfect comparisons, as I was not able to find pictures of all 3 actresses under the same kind of lighting.)

Kravitz's has a clear difference between the two, but they aren't too far apart, in comparison to Nyong’o’s and Jeffries’s. Note the dullness in the poorly picked shades as opposed to the better ones. Also keep in mind that while Kravitz has a rosy undertone (at least in that picture - it’s from The Batman, which has stylized coloring) Nyong’o has a slight cool undertone (I can’t pin down quite what, but the picture is definitely not stylized like Kravitz’s).

Jeffries runs more ochre or russet, but neither of those are pink. They are more red than terracotta or umber, but to call Jeffries’s face rosy would be wrong. Err more towards the golden when drawing her.

And also, the darker skin gets, the less likely warm undertones are going to appear. Don't be afraid to use blue or purple or even green on occasion!

Additionally, cool lighting on dark skin is always a win imo.

(I was going to use that picture of Jeffries as Annabeth by the lightning bolt, but then I realized the lighting on her face doesn’t quite match up with where it should hit from that angle, and I realized they kind of just turned everything bluer, so screenshot time!)

(Also if you want another really great live action example, check out anything Aldis Hodge is in, like Leverage and Black Adam)(and of course there’s Spiderverse <3 but I want to post pictures of Hodge)

Now, to here’s a list of more experienced people’s advice:

Black facial features & hair

Shading digitally for a (somewhat) monotone Black character

Stylistic choices and places to start looking for inspiration (besides a search engine).

Also a nice tutorial for Indigenous skin tones, just in case yall want to draw Piper or use this information for other dark skinned characters :).

EDIT: Some actresses who are closer in skintone to use for Annabeth, provided by the lovely @blackfemmecharacterdependency ! If you can’t find a reference for Jeffries in a specific lighting, maybe check out these ladies’ pictures! It’s a reblog, so scroll down.

TLDR: Don’t make Annabeth pink and pale, make her dark and golden.

everyone else might already know this but i just think it’s funny that canonically The Cage takes place in 2254, so over 10 years before the start of Kirks first 5 year mission as captain. while SNW takes place around 2258-2260

(with the reveal of Carol Marcus being pregnant it would make most sense for it to be 2259 seeing as TSFS takes place in 2285, which would make David Marcus 25 at the time that movie takes place)

anyways, then the beginning of TOS is in 2265, and here’s a visual representation of why i find that funny (using spock as an example because he’s my favorite)

in the jp version of this scene, rock immediately follows his most genuinely profound moment in the entire game— his whole speech about how it’s better to treasure the found family you have rather than digging up the facts on who your biological parents were when there might be a reason that past is buried…

by turning around and shouting “NICE! ADVICE!” in english…

it’s just incredible to me just how fast he slams the self destruct eject button in this conversation as soon as lumina looks impressed by him, i don’t think it’s possible to fumble harder than this man does even intentionally

Share to save a dandruff-haver's sanity

i am making this post because all my life i have been told my dandruff was my fault for not washing my hair correctly and shamed for having "poor hygiene" as a result - this is probably where the bfrbs started tbh.

SO. There are two main types of dandruff!

Dry scalp flakes: these are white and itty bitty! you can probably solve this with a good hair and skincare routine. HOWEVER unless they are bothering you it is absolutely not necessary for any kind of health reason (afaik! disclaimer! i am not a doctor! this is not actionable medical advice nor should you take me anywhere near as seriously as a dermatologist). IS NOT CAUSED BY POOR HYGIENE.

Fungal dandruff: Bigger, yellowish, possibly oily/greasy flakes! Caused by your genetics going Oops All Yeast! Generally requires a prescription antifungal treatment from a dermatologist! ALSO NOT CAUSED BY POOR HYGIENE.

Either way, if you have dandruff, a dermatologist is the one you want to consult if it's bothering you! and frankly, even if it was a hygiene issue, nobody deserves to be shamed for that!!!!! especially considering that there are plenty of people who struggle to shower regularly due to circumstances beyond their control!

AND FOR CHRIST'S SAKE STOP SHAMING PEOPLE WITH DANDRUFF!!!!
